I'm definitely liking more colour as I get older. I think my skin has become sallower and I no longer suit paler shades. I need brights to make me look like i'm not an extra on The Walking Dead! So when I saw this skirt, I had to have it! The interest on the hem balances out my hips and I can dress it up or down with either heels or trainers (and you know how I love my flats!) As it's such a bright colour, I wouldn't wear it with anything other than black which highlights the spotty print and lets the skirt do all the talking. I've worn it loads so it was a great buy. Other bright colours that suit me are bright pink and blue too, but navy and grey will always be my go-to for daytime. What colours suit you? tell me everything about will! he seems so interesting just from the wiztober art you made of him. Was he the main/player character before going rogue? or was he just a random young wizard set up by Ambrose like the player? how did he become known as the Puppet Master? is the static in his eyes just an effect for the art to emphasize the prompt in the art or is static like a visual motif he has?
BESTIE I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED William is actually from a fever dream I had about Wizard101 so like. All I have written down is shit from the dream. I still gotta go through it BUT I will share the raw data with you. I have wild, cinematic dreams so this is a BLESSING for Wizard101. A couple people have asked why he’s dressed as a Necromancer when he’s a Balance wizard and my answer is: CHESS!
Balance is nearly a religion to him, which made both the Professors of Balance extremely nervous, as any student that takes their powers way too seriously can be a danger at some point.
It’s good to have pride in your school, your magic, and what you do, but there’s a fine line between the sanity of using magic and the dangerous unstable usage of magic which is where William went towards.
Fun Fact: He's the one I play most often, so if you ever see me playing, it'll be with him. He's a Balance major with Storm and Death Minor so my favorite schools in one <333
This is going to be long and is going into a lot of my Fan Lore from way back when, so don’t take this as set in stone because I have to fix a whole bunch of it. <33
He was in fact an original main character before going rogue! He was guided as a "Young Wizard" by Ambrose just like the current Player, and had two trusty allies: Edward Winterbright and Vanessa Hex.
All three worked together for Ambrose before, tragically, Edward and Vanessa went "missing" in my fan world "The Wysheri", a planet made up of dusk where the Cloud Factory lies. Will went back to Ambrose demanding that he do something about it, but the Headmaster refused, saying there was nothing that could be done and that their sacrifice to the spiral will be remembered.
When in fact, it wasn't.
As soon as Edward and Vanessa were gone, they were immediately replaced by new pupils that Ambrose even considered "better". "They would surely save the spiral this time."
William continued his work, trying desperately to keep his mind off the memories of his only two friends. Ambrose kept trying to make him move on to other worlds that needed help, but he decided to keep going back to The Wysheri to try and defeat the cruel ruler "The Butterfly King" which you have to defeat in the main quest of the world, but is not a part of the main quest in saving the spiral. (It’s a side world)
However, he was never strong enough. He kept using up all his health, all his energy, all his passion, but he still was blasted back to the beginning, no matter how hard he tried.
He realized that his friends were gone forever as the Butterfly King’s laugh bellowed and echoed through the skies. And there, in that very moment, a darkness grew inside of poor William’s heart. With this darkness from grief came power and with power, he did the unthinkable.
Instead of letting his enemy go with mercy, like all young wizards must, he slayed the king with rage.
As all things should be balanced: Two good things went along with one large bad.
But even after tackling a great challenge, he wasn't relieved of his grief.
Because he had slain an enemy, he was to be expelled from Ravenwood, however, Ambrose decided to keep him close, knowing it was not the original William he had set out to be a hero.
While basically being under house arrest, he started working with mechanical minions with the aid of a friend, Marcus Spiritsong, a Storm Wizard with a love for inventing. It started out that they would be help for their practices, so William could continue his studies even while not going to Ravenwood, but Will had a different idea.
As he helped build these puppets, the darkness in his heart seeped into the toys and brought them into a different life, making them wander and glow with red eyes behind their masks. He felt himself brilliant, bringing things to life with the Balance of Storm and Death.
Some started to become clever and would escape, attacking students out of the blue around Wizard City. Marcus brought them back, thinking something just went wrong with their wiring, but he soon found out it was William controlling them.
They got into an argument and William pulled his wand on Marcus, his eyes suddenly becoming red like the puppets. With the cast of a simple spell, part of the machinery that Marcus had built exploded, making the rest go out of control with building more and more puppets, some of varying sizes and grotesque looks.
Marcus and William finally got up off the ground in pain and both realized they had changed. Marcus couldn’t see and William’s face was covered in scars.
While Marcus called out for William, in hopes he would help him, William turned his back and grabbed a mask from one of the puppets, placing it on himself.
But oh! No, no, no. William wasn’t entirely gone mentally.
In silence, William grabbed Marcus and took him inside and laid him down, before calling Quinn Willowglade, another member of their group who was a life wizard, who told him to bring help.
As help arrived, William was gone, along with all the creations of the Puppet machine.
Will ended up going back to the Wysheri and took it over with his puppets. The people of The Wysheri feared, as they had heard of this wizard that wasn’t afraid to kill.
He proclaimed himself as “The Puppet Master” and stayed there in hopes of bringing back Hex and Winterbright, turning the entire world from Dusk to Night.

Flash Forward to Current Events
Your Young Wizard can go to The Wysheri and follow its main quest to defeat The Puppet Master and turn the entirety of the world back to normal. To get to The Wysheri, you can meet Marcus Spiritsong in Marleybone where he’s a vendor or find him on special occasions in Wizard City, either time you can do a task for him ( “Good to See You” ) where he asks you to chart constellations for him in various parts of the city. This gives you the telescope item. The last of the constellations is able to be seen with The Wysheri in the sky and you ask him about it. He tells you what it is and warns you of the Puppet Master. He then guides you on another quest ( ”Memories in the Night Sky” ) where you have to find his Dark Sprite pet after it wandered off. Once taken back to Marcus, he gives you a Spiral Key that he acquired and said he didn’t ever want to go back.
This key will give you access to The Wysheri.
At the Wysheri, you face Haunted Puppets (Balance), Puppet Golems (Death), String Puppets (Storm), and other monsters. NPC’s include the Ghosts of Hex and Winterbright, both located in the Abandoned Cloud Factory, and Professor Dremly, a purple humanoid with butterfly wings, that sells treasure cards and is the basis for your main quest of getting the Cloud Factory working again.
Other NPC’s include Lenora Frostheart, an Ice Wizard, who guides your main quests to defeating various puppets to help her studies on finding out who The Puppet Master might be along with Lail Dreamcaster, a Balance Wizard, who helps you get to the various floating cloud isles with his Airship. He also helps you get into The Temple of Dreams to defeat The Puppet Master where you both find out William Dreamcaster, his brother that had gone missing, is in fact the Puppet Master.
A heated argument ensues between the brothers before Lail runs out. The Battle between The Puppet Master (Balance), Puppet Golem (Balance), and a Haunted Puppet (Balance) VS Your Young Wizard ensues.
If you go in with friends instead of a solo, the Haunted Puppet is replaced by a String Puppet.
I had to look a whole bunch of places for my notes on him, so very sorry it took so long to answer this lmao. I had to put it all into words that made better sense than whatever my notepad is.
ALL of this might change, I’ll be honest. It’s all just a mix of dreams I’ve had or random ass ideas, so, that’s why it doesn’t make a lot of sense lmao.

Also, yes, the static in his eyes is from the shock of the Storm Machinery. It wouldn’t show up much in game, but I’d like to think it’d be a cool part of him.

an NPC from a DND campaign I started running this week for Vivek and @thelonelyrainbowenby​ ! L. Coal is a fellow competitor in the Unity Cup tournament, representing the Gap Ridge Brigade with his Captain, Haltblood-Ridge Ruby. 
Dragonborn descended from the colder regions have big ol’ icepick horns which, along with the large, smooth snout scales, function like solar panels to absorb heat for the body to send to the vital areas.

an unfinished comic of a moment from the Ponytail Party campaign that i loved a lot. the whole story of Bells and Whispers is long, but the whole party fucked up in a snowball of violence started by Himo (the rest was pure panic)

In the whole "Backstory" thing, Duncan is the one who is indeed the one from the canonical story (being from Earth) and I have it written that when he realized the entire Arc 1 mess happened because Sylvia died from a cold he went to Marleybone to scream at The Professor about needing to go back in time with a bottle of Nyquil.

Velerian Soulthorn (Life / Myth + Balance) Originally he was going to be from Germany to play on the joke of Fairy Tales (He's a knight) but I dunno.
I guess I'm also from Earth lmao. I've yet to make a character based purely on myself tho. I guess my icon. William started out as it but then I delved into writer mode.

From the Chronicles: Heather/Tara Supercut
Because I'm just ridiculously sappy for the Big Buff Bashful Babes On A Boat, here's a compilation of all the gayest moments of one touch-starved half-orc and a big-hearted goliath sailor falling fast.
(Sapphic Disasters At First Sight...)
She and her brothers are of the wandering sort, Tara explains, and since they’ve been on the seas with Alice they’ve travelled far and wide. 
“Well, it’s lovely to be travelling with you, Tara! Oh - and this is my friend Heather,” Julian adds, giving Heather an encouraging pat on the arm. 
Tara extends a hand to Heather to shake. Heather looks up at her, and is once again again struck by the oddity of having to look up at someone. It’s new, and oddly comforting, to not be towering over someone. And her smile is so genuine, so...warm, and that’s new, too. Upon taking Tara’s hand, Heather discovers the woman’s already obvious strength extends to her firm, warm handshake. Oh, thinks Heather, turning faintly but distinctly pinkish in the face. Oh.
For a few beats longer than strictly necessary, Tara’s hand lingers around Heather’s, and then she clears her throat, retracts her hand and swiftly moves the conversation onwards. Is she blushing too…? “Oh! Um, I should, ehhh, I should be showing you where you’re gonnae be staying, shouldn’t I?”
[...]
She urges the newbies to settle in and find themselves a spot. “And if you need any help,” she says, her gaze lingering for a bashful moment on Heather, “I can give a hand setting up hammocks if y’ need it, or, you know.” 
[...]
As Tara fishes out the next of the new hammocks, she catches Heather’s eye. And then un-catches it the moment their gazes meet - at once she begins to bluster, awkwardly folding and re-folding the cloth in her hands instead of actually making any move to set it up. “Eh, so, y’know...there is a free hammock already- I mean, I could still put one up for-“
“I’ll, uh, I can take the spare one,” Heather says, since she doesn’t want to be a hassle setting up a whole new hammock, and since it’s being offered to her she has no desire to refuse. She can’t help feeling that it’s unfair anyway, having nicer hammocks than the crew.
“Okay, um, I’ll show you, it’s- it’s the one next to mine?” And so Tara shows her, leading her to the hammock in question, very much overexplaining as she goes, thoroughly and obviously flustered. Eventually she runs out of words for the simple task of showing someone their sleeping-quarters. She cocks her head, frowning, as the sound of exuberant proclamations continues to sound from above. “I suppose I’d, ehhhh, better get back to my post. But if you need me, you know where to find me. On, uh, the ship.”

(Heather And Tara Fetch Ammo For The Cannons...)
Now they’re alone together in the storage room, Heather and Tara share a moment of awkward, hesitant silence. It’s not a particularly large room for most people, what with all the boxes and crates, but especially not for two people of their size. Very enclosed. Cosy.
Very, uh, intimate. 
Isn’t Tara meant to be showing her whatever thing she needs help with? 
“Uhhh,” says Tara, seeming to remember that only just now herself, “so, uhhh...balls!” Balls, indeed. To save face, or perhaps to hide her rising blush, Tara hastily turns her back and begins cracking open one of the nearby crates. After a few seconds’ rummaging she straightens up with two large metal spheres in hand. “Cannonballs,” she says, to clarify. “If you could, ehhh, take one- here…” 
As Heather reaches to take one, her fingers brush Tara’s. You know, as is standard when taking something from someone else‘s hands. But that fleeting contact renders Tara abruptly and uncharacteristically clumsy - she jolts and fumbles the ball, sending several kilograms of metal plummeting towards Heather’s feet before she only narrowly manages to catch it and rescue the whole manoeuvre. Even more flustered now, she presses the cannonball into Heather’s grip and stammers, “If you could take that to my brother and he’ll, uh, load it-“ 
When Heather provides the cannonball to Marek, however, he regards it with a frown of bemusement and calls out, “Tara! I’ve got enough, what’re ye doing?” (In the background, Tara makes the universal grimace-and-motion of shut up!!!)

(Boarding The Giff Ship)
There’s a moment where Tara and Heather dither at the start of the gangplank, both trying to offer for the other to go first. It ends up being Heather going ahead, Tara following behind - she’s noticed the half-orc isn’t most adept at balance, so she’ll make sure Heather gets across safe and sound. Or at least that’s what she says is the reason... :)c

(Scavenger's Rights!)
While they’re waiting, Tara starts looking about for things worth salvaging. She regards the sails for a few moments, and with impressive ease begins to scale the mast. Holding herself steady amongst the rigging, she draws a large knife and begins to hack down the sails. Seeing Heather watching with amazement, she calls down, “You know, for repairs! In case we end up with a hole, or something. Extra sails!” 
As she goes to work, it’s Heather’s turn to gaze a little moony-eyed at Tara and her well-toned arms… and the attention seems to be both noticed and appreciated! If anything, Tara starts showing off, repositioning herself so all the better to highlight her flexing biceps. And fantastic biceps they are!
When Heather realises she’s been caught ogling, she blushes deeply and blurts, “-’m just standin’ here in case you...fall?!” Was she so obviously staring? Not minding one bit, Tara grins, says, ‘Good shout,’ and carries on with her work.

(Presents From The Plunder...)
She seeks Tara out, and fumbling a little, Heather brings out the spyglass and presents it to her. Making words in a straight line around her is something Heather continues to be bad at doing, apparently! “We, uh. We, uhhh, found this?? And I thought, I think you might- you might like it? It seemed like...your, uh, kind...of thing?” Oh gods, eye contact is hard.
There’s a moment where Tara seems a little confused - her brother, Marek, it’s more of his thi-...but then catches herself and smiles at Heather, wide and warm, as she takes the telescope from her. “It’s lovely. Thank you.”
As Heather passes back by Julian, she mutters a very soft thank you. He smiles up at her. “Glad she liked it.”

(Further Useless Lesbian Behaviour Below Deck)
Julian [concerned he's hallucinated the entire adventure] thinks he’d not be able to accurately hallucinate the experience of getting clocked by Heather, so….
So she punches him. Or rather, she attempts to! But being in a hammock complicates matters - the rocking counter-motion sends her fist careening not towards Julian, but beyond him. 
Instead, she punches Tara firmly in the thigh, who was taken rather off-guard by that indeed! Mortified, Heather launches into a flurry of apologies that definitely includes a fast-aborted sentence about potentially kissing it better, wait, no, sorry, nevermind that, she’s sorry! (Tara, too, rushes to insist it’s fine and I mean if Heather would- no, wait, never mind, she’s perfectly fine.) Heather grimaces apologetically and gives Tara’s leg a sort of awkward comforting pat-rub.

(In the jungle, after a dicey fight with some chuul where Gorstag was knocked unconscious and Tara poisoned badly...)
[Gorstag:] “I’m just saying! If anything goes south, you all run, back to the ship. Don’t hesitate, each of you for yourself. It’s not leaving other people behind, it’s about thinking for yourselves, not as a group.” 
As he’s saying this, Heather feels a soft nudge at the back of her armour. She reaches a hand back to investigate - perhaps a large beetle has landed on her…? But no, what she finds is Tara’s hand against her leathers, holding on for security. She doesn’t say anything, but she reaches back to lay her hand over Tara’s - an unspoken signal that no, she will not be leaving her.

(Returning To The Boat - It's Not Good)
On the deck of the Ferreter lies its crew. Alice, Tara, Ceryul, Marek, even Drasso – all sprawled on the boards, unmoving. Heather, first to ascend, lets out a cry of Tara’s name and runs to her, falling to her knees at the Goliath’s side.
[...and then things get Worse...]
Both of [Geoffrey's] hands grip the haft of a wicked glaive, its blade driven deep through her back. Moonlight glints upon its point, which juts grotesquely from Heather’s abdomen. For a moment, all is still. A smile plays on his lips as all the tension in Heather’s form falls slack - he tugs the glaive free, and she topples forward, slumped over Tara.

(After Geoffrey Fucks Off And We Heal Heather, and Heather Discovers Her Third Level Spells)
“Nonono, no, Heather, you need to-“ Bandages and gauze trailing from his hands, Julian scrambles after her. He’s trying to keep her still, begging her to let him tend to her injury, but Heather pays him no attention. She’s still breathing. Tara’s still breathing. But she’s just lying there, unresponsive to her touch, something’s wrong and through the panic and the pain Heather tries to work out what the fuck to do. Tara needs healing, and Heather burned all that she had just to survive Marsha and get everyone out alive, but Tara needs her.
From somewhere deep within Heather comes light. 
The rain illuminates, Heather’s wounds glow, awash in crystalline blue. Huge, shimmering transparent wings unfurl from behind her. They flutter, a butterfly made of pure cerulean light taking wing from within the half-orc’s kneeling form. It alights on Tara’s chest, its glow suffusing the goliath’s body, and with a groan she stirs. Groggy, but conscious.

(Returning from an ordeal in the caves once again....)
Heather gets a huge hug from Tara, and then an apologetic check-over. “You alright? Doin’ okay? No, aha, um, no more extra holes?”
To this, Heather snorts. “Only the right number o’ holes,” she replies. Then, with a grin, “But, I mean. You’re welcome t’check later.”
A deep blush rises on Tara’s cheeks. “Well!” she says, as the pinkness makes its way up her face and down her chest, then, “Right!” For good measure, “Yep!” She turns her face away to hide the flustered smile she’s valiantly attempting to restrain. “Right, yep! I’m! I’m gonna,” she pats Heather’s shoulder as she rapidly disengages, pink to the tips of her ears, “I’m gonna go an’ help…..Ceryul. I’ll, um, blow.”
Heather chuckles as Tara power-walks over to where Ceryul’s working their magic and breathes out heavily several times, totally to “help”, totally not to try to calm down. Her face is still near luminous.

(Back On Dry Land)
Tara hangs back. Bashfully, aside to Heather, “So… Cap’n’s said, suppose we’re going tae be going tomorrow. Uh. It’s been really nice. Um. Having someone equally as strong as me on the ship for a change.” Heather, not good with words, just pulls Tara into a hug. The goliath embraces her back, and says, “Suppose we’re not leaving ‘til the morning, so…see you in the pub?” 
Heather looks at the others with an expression that says quite clearly, can I-? “Of course!” Julian waves her on, “Go with her, go, go. We’ll probably come too, but of course.”
She spares no time, catching up to Tara in big strides.

(At The Tavern!)
“M’going tomorrow…” Tara drawls, morose, into Heather’s hair. She’s slumped heavily into the half-orc’s shoulder, soppy and loose-limbed with drink. “So… S’been really nice. Y’don’t meet many people, on the sea.”
Heather nuzzles her head against Tara’s. “Not many people on the sea, no.”
“Nooo.” A low giggle, next to Heather’s ear. “Be funny if there were, though, wouldnae it be.”
“S’a lot of fish!”
“Lot o’ fish in the sea. Aye. B’nooo people.” It may be true there are plenty of fish in the sea, but Tara’s not thinking like that tonight. “If, if, if- If I do see you again, I dunno how…guess y’know what the ship looks like...” 
Heather reaches up to pat Tara, managing to land more on the face than on the head. No complaint from Tara, who only pushes her cheek further into the touch. Muffled by Heather’s palm, lips against her skin, Tara murmurs, “I’d like t’see ye again. I hope I see ye again.”
Aww. Earnest, certain, and more soberly than a word she’s said so far, Heather replies, “We will.”

(The Next Morning)
It is around this time that Heather and Tara make their way downstairs, hand in hand, taking a table together and trading hushed words and touches full of bittersweet affection as they eat. Everyone goes to see the Ferreter off - an excuse, more than anything, to give Heather a few minutes more at Tara’s side. Her brothers are done loading and preparing the ship for sail, and Drasso appears to be remaining onboard with the crew. The weretiger’s skinny frame leans up against the gunwale, and he waves down with a smile.
“Right then,” says Alice, as she steps onto the gangplank, “no tears need to be shed! No doubt we’ll see you guys at some point. Safe travels.”
Tears may not need to be shed, but for Heather there is heartache in watching the Frisky Ferreter sail off until it is a speck on the horizon. Tara remains at the stern for as long as the dock is in sight. “Where, boy?” whispers Heather, so she can feel the ring’s gentle pull tethering her to Tara - part comfort, part echo of her own yearning.

GAY GAY GAY. I was so invested in them both and MAN I hope they do get to meet again during the campaign because.....they are. So precious. Wingmanning this ship was a delight.
