Halloween time means Freddie! Aka Winnifred my Halloween custom. She's a few years old and a little crusty but I love her so much. The hair elastics keep on exploding.

Because her (And Cherry Noir there) are old, they got them crazy eyes. I hadn't figured out reusing the factory eyes yet. I will never get used to doll photography and editing

I like Nikhil. It does seem to be a running theme with the story that characters aren't able to form the found families in the style that wildbow usually writes. Winnifred keeps finding people, this time even some very cool people, and those people get yanked away from her.

That conversation with the old folks was fascinating, really shining a critical light on the worldbuilding we've been presented with. Neither we nor Winnifred actually know how hard the demodding process really is, she just got a taste of it one time and didn't like it. The fact that she can't even look up how hard it would be, and whether that uncle really killed himself, because her family is watching her so closely, it reminds me of some religious indoctrination, where doubt and critical thought are cast as sinful.

Also the old folks think the world is for-reals post-scarcity, which the conversation does highlight is kind of not really the case and that most of the characters aren't 100% clear on how the economy actually works. At the same time there are more options and avenues for Winnifred to take than she'd been led to believe. The whole dynamic there felt really believable.

One being birthed deep inside the bowels of a megapolis, modded to inhumanity without consent by their parents.
