Afterthought Trail
This trail is a technical trail that has rocks to jump over and navigate through and has several switchbacks to power up. It would be easy to snake bite a tire if you do not have your timing right. A very rewarding trail to clean.

The stage play “Channeling Grimm” by Tracy Wells. The fairy guy walk off stage to get to the next job I suppose. No time to dilly dally around for curtail call bows. This is a October 2023 performance by the White Sage Theater of Norther Nevada council of the arts on YouTube at the local Winnemucca Nevada Boys and Girls club.

Song Review: Eilen Jewell - “Winnemucca”
Pedal-steel and electric guitars wrap around the rhythm section - and each other - in the way Eilen Jewel wants to wrap herself around the unnamed addressee in “Winnemucca.”
Jewell casts herself as an underpowered radio broadcaster needing a boost as she slyly sings:
I’m a lonely station in the desert tonight/splice my wires I wanna get electrified/plug me in to your neon signs/I wanna blast my love, let it amplify
The delicious third single from Get Behind the Wheel  (May 5) finds Jewell uncovering a sublime admixture of lyrics and music (and country and rock) to create one a songs that diverse audiences can delight in even if they agree on nothing else.
Grade card: Eilen Jewell -  “Winnemucca” - A

Sarah Winnemucca: 19th Century Advocate for Native Americans
Last month I wrote about Winema Riddle, a Native American woman who pursued justice for her people in 19th century Oregon. Sarah Winnemucca was another prominent Native American woman in Oregon at the time who also advocated for her people. Sarah Winnemucca was born into an influential Northern Paiute family in what is now Nevada. Her Paiute name as a child was Thocmetony, meaning Shell Flower,…
