Cupid's Dream Masterlist

Two pink lines stared back at her while her heart skipped a beat. She knew it was true before she even took the test, tears filled her eyes as she remembered the events that took place in Westview. Now in hiding, the ex-Avenger only had herself to fall back on. It was the one time she decided to grab a hot meal at the local bar near her remote mountainside cabin in the woods of Sokovia when she met you. 

You were having a few drinks by yourself when the woman sat only inches beside you at the bar. She was troubled, her sad presence screamed to you as you turned to her slightly and gave her a soft welcoming smile. She smiled back, even though she could barely bring herself to form the returning smile. 

“Rough Day?” you asked in sign language. She nodded, “rough couple of months” she signed back.

“Here, let me.” You smiled once more before placing a $10 bill on the bar to pay for her drink, “it seems you need something good right now” you signed. 

“Thank you” the woman smiled softly before taking a sip of her wine. 

She intrigued you to say the least, you’d never seen her around here before and assumed she was new to the small town, if you’d even call it that. The small street of buildings was only built for loggers that worked high in the mountains; it had the essentials. A small general store for basic needs, a mechanic and hardware store, a bakery, a doctor’s office and of course the bar which also acted as a restaurant. A small population of 100 people lived around here, well, 101 now that you’d made a cabin home for the past three months. 

You tried to go back to doing your own thing, having a drink, and completing the crossword puzzle in the newspaper but the woman’s running mind distracted your focus. You turned to face her only to notice she was already looking at you. Her eyes spoke a million words and suddenly you knew she wasn’t like anybody else in the bar. 

“Do you want to go for a walk?” you asked. She was hesitant at first, taking another sip of her drink so she didn’t waste your money, but she nodded.

“Are you here for me?” Wanda asked while the two of you walked slowly down the single road street covered in snow. “No. I am just a stranger you met in a bar” you replied with a soft smile in hopes it would ease her worries. It didn’t take Wanda very long to work out that you weren’t like everybody else in this town, there was a different kind of communication between the two of you. She could hear your thoughts just as much as you could hear hers. Although you knew very little of the woman, you knew enough to know she was in pain.

Wanda’s mind replayed that night after you’d walked her home. How her nails dug deeply into your back as your lips were interlocked with hers and the way you reach for the bedsheets as your tongue overstimulated her clit but more importantly, she remembered the way you made her feel and how she’d never felt the things you made her feel, how you were able to make her forget even just for that night how much she was truly hurting. 

Those thoughts brought her back to the two pink lines staring back at her. “Fuck” she mumbled quietly to herself as she placed the pregnancy test on the bathroom counter. It would be a lie to say she wasn’t having a moment while washing her hands that her twin boys that she missed deeply and how badly she wished to hold them just once more. 

Wanda rang your doorbell, a blue light flickered throughout your small cabin to alert you somebody was at the door. Wanda was the last person you expected to be standing on the other side, even if you sensed it was her before you even turned the knob. 

“Wanda how are you?” you asked, greeting her with a soft smile. She didn’t return the smile; her eyes were slightly puffy and red. “Is everything okay?” you asked. 

“Can I come in? we need to talk” she replied. You nodded, moving to the side to allow her to walk into your home. “I’m really sorry to come here out of the blue” she turned to you as you closed the door behind her. 

“Don’t stress, it’s okay. Not sure how you found my address but it’s okay” you chuckled in hopes it would lighten the mood, but it didn’t. 

“I’m pregnant” she said, getting to the point. The news shocked you a little but explained why you felt she didn’t arrive alone. “I don’t expect you to do anything or even want to be a part of this. I just thought you had a right to know” Wanda added. 

“It takes two to tangle, are you okay?” you replied trying to process the news. Wanda’s eyes filled with tears as she shrugged, “I d-don’t know, I made some mistakes that lead me to the reason why I even moved here” she explained, wiping the falling tears from her cheeks. You knew what she was talking about, you were an Eternal, of course you knew but you weren’t allowed to do anything about the events of Westview, and you didn’t ask too many questions about the situation. 

“I don’t want you to worry about anything, I am here for you and the baby. Whatever you decide to do, I am here. If you want to keep it, we will work it out. If you want to have an abortion, I will be there to hold your hand” you smiled ever so softly before you reached to get her a tissue. Wanda looked you in the eyes, allowing you to hear all her worries and concerns. 

You reached for her hand, “you’re not alone. We are in this together” you assured her. “We barely know each other. I do not expect you to step up like this” Wanda replied. 

“Let’s start with meeting up for coffee, well, decaf coffee. How does that sound? We can get to know each other more and talk about what is on your mind and if you want to go through with this or not” you offered. 

Wanda nodded as a light smile tugged at her lips, “I would like that, thank you”.

As the weeks went on, you and Wanda met for coffee three times a week. Most of the conversations were about getting to know one another and sometimes Wanda would bring up a worry or concern she had. You never asked her if she had made a decision on whether she would be keeping the baby or not, you felt that was something she would tell you when she was ready. 

Of course, one of Wanda’s most worrying concern was the baby’s health and what it meant for the baby to be born with the shared genes of a Witch and an Eternal. Both with so much power and abilities, it was something that Wanda couldn’t shake. This led to you telling her everything you knew about your abilities and powers. 

“This baby is going to be more than a handful of surprises” Wanda smiled softly making your eyes widen with excitement. 

“Does this mean you’ve made a decision?” you asked. Wanda nodded, “I want to have this baby. I want to do this with you and its okay if you don’t want to do this” she replied. You stood up from your seat and embraced Wanda in a hug, “I want to do this with you as well” you smiled as you both pulled away.

“I guess this means we have a lot more to talk about” Wanda smiled.

You didn’t want to miss a single moment during Wanda’s pregnancy, it was a conversation that you brought to the table before Wanda asked if you’d like to come spend a couple nights a week at her place. You loved cooking for her every night and making her breakfast in bed when her morning sickness went away. After so many years of seeming almost everything, you never thought you’d find something so special again. 

Life was growing in front of your eyes, you finally had something to be excited about once again. A new chapter was opening up for you, a new life, a life you never thought you’d be able to have so the thought never crossed your mind and Wanda could see just how happy you were. She saw the smile on your face whenever she caught you admiring the ultra-sound photo, she saw the sparkle in your eyes whenever the two of you had a conversation about the baby. 

But for Wanda, it wasn’t the same. Although she was happy about having a baby, she couldn’t keep herself from thinking of her boys and how she wondered what they would think of a baby sibling. She wondered how they would react, she wondered if they would wish for a baby brother or sister, she wondered if they had their own name ideas to add to the list you and Wanda had slowly began to dot down. 

“What were they like? Your boys” you asked Wanda one night while she was lost in thought. She looked at you and smiled softly at the thought of talking about her twins. “They were perfect. Tommy is my little prankster” she starts with a chuckle, “he was always getting himself in all sorts of mischief. Billy, he was the opposite. He loved video games and training our dog Sparky. Both boys loved their ice cream and movie night” the smile on her lips only grew wider as she talked more about the beloved twins. 

“They sound like a lot of fun; you must miss them” you placed a hand on top of Wanda’s for comfort. 

“I do, a lot” A tear rolled down her cheek. You could tell she needed a shift of conversation and offered to make her a banana split milkshake to fill her cravings.

At six months, you and Wanda had grown closer. You were both wanting this co-parenting plan to work and began to look around for a home to move into together. The two of you would decorate the nursey together, Wanda using her powers to move the furniture around to save the hassle of you both burning yourselves out doing it. You went to every doctor’s appointment with Wanda and kept every ultra-sound photo they offered. Wanda loved seeing how excited and happy you were and as time went on, she found herself becoming more comfortable with the fact the twins weren’t here to share this new chapter with her. 

“How did you book this place?” Wanda asked after the waiter seated you both. It was Wanda’s birthday and you wanted to do something special for her, so you booked reservations at a restaurant she’d been talking about a lot recently. 

“I know the owner, they kind of owe me a favour” you replied before picking up the menu. Things had slightly been a little different between you both, usually you could hear each other’s thoughts and feelings but recently you had trouble connecting with Wanda that way. You thought maybe it was something to do with the pregnancy and maybe she just wanted that extra bit of privacy, so you tried not to think about it as much, but it was hard when you found yourself falling for her. 

“This is certainly a surprise, thank you” Wanda smiled. You returned the smile but quickly used the menu to hide the blushing of your cheeks. This was a new feeling that you had no control over. 

“Has something happened? Between us?” Wanda asked shortly after finishing her main meal, you shook your head before taking a mouthful of your drink. “Not at all, have I done something to make you think that?” you asked. 

“You just seem a little distant lately, that’s all” Wanda replied. 

“I’m sorry. I just thought that with only a few months left until the baby arrives that you might want some more alone time” you explained, not entirely a lie but a good enough excuse to stop her from thinking it was something more. 

“You know, we have spoken a lot about myself over the last few months but you don’t like to share much. I am here for you like you are for me and if you want to talk about anything, you can talk to me. We’re in this together, remember?” Wanda said looking deeply into your eyes. You took another mouthful of your drink and deep breath before replying. 

“I used to have a family and friends, but some went back to planet Olympia, some stayed on Earth and are trying to live a normal life, but I never felt like I fitted in anywhere. Not here and not in Olympia. I have been on my own for many years and I was getting tired of living this repetitive life. But when you said you wanted to keep the baby, everything changed for me. You have given me something new and exciting, a new life and I don’t want to ruin it because of something I can’t control” you explained.

“Why would you think you would ruin this? I would never stop you from being in our baby’s life if things didn’t work out with our plan” Wanda assured you. 

“Feelings weren’t apart of the plan” you replied. 

Wanda froze for a moment before she stood from her seat, you did the same thinking she was leaving but instead she walked up to you and gently cupped your face and kissing you deeply. You kissed her back, your hands resting gently on her lips, ever so slightly pulling her closer to you as you deepened the kiss. 

“Take me home” Wanda smiled softly as you both pulled away for air.

You woke up to find Wanda’s side of the bed empty, there was only one place she would be. You walked down the hall and there she was, cradling your baby girl back to sleep. The sight in front of you made you smile softly before you walked up behind Wanda, wrapping your arms around her and placing a kiss on her cheek. Wanda smiled softly, never taking her eyes off the little girl in her arms. 

Your body moved with Wanda’s until the little girl’s eyes came to a close and Wanda carefully placed her back in her crib. She turned in your arms to face you, kissing you softly. 

“I know it was your turn to tend to her, but I couldn’t help myself. She’s perfect” Wanda smiled. “Next time, wake me. I don’t want to miss a single thing” you replied before kissing her once more.

Having reviewed all of the evidence I believe that SVU ADA have to attend an annual seminar on Cunty Comebacks 101, in fact I think all the ADA’s across the country do and they all get together and bitch about their detectives being feral little shits.

Casey and Alex end up with a crowd around them while drinking their wine and whiskey retelling cases where their detectives have been particular assholes.

In the end the pair are on the stage with a microphone and have turned it into a comedy act where they basically just rant about their work as an ADA to other ADA’s for the weekend.

It’s always the 2nd weekend in August, and it becomes something for all burn out ADA’s to look forward to.

i was wondering if you have any headcanons for jean and reiner cooking or baking? (together or apart hehe) i have a feeling these two have a secret talent and they don’t share it with most people but, in fact, they can bake sick cakes or cook the most intricate meal as if it was eggs and bacon!

OF COURSE this mama's boy can cook well!! He may not be a fancy chef like Niccolo, but he makes great comfort foods like soups, pastas, casseroles (or hot dish, depending on where you're from), etc. Seriously, this is the man you want to call to make you dinner when you're sick.

Mama Kirstein taught Jean how to cook, but he also learned a lot when he was a stay at home dad for a couple of years when he and Mikasa were still together.

For real though he can make any picky eater happy, the moms on the block love sending their kids over to Jean's for a play date with Mason and they're always asking him for his recipes.

Jean doesn't make intricate meals too often, but when he does, he goes all out!! He loves having friends over for dinner parties, and of course, he always has a good wine pairing. Cooking is part of how he shows his friends affection. Following his name, I see Jean getting into French cuisine.

Jean has actual cookbooks on a shelf in his kitchen that he writes notes in.

Sasha swears Jean makes *the best* tacos.

Niccolo taught Jean how to properly sharpen his kitchen knives, so now he has a strict "don't touch my knives" policy. Connie broke this once and i stg Jean almost stabbed him in broad daylight.

Speaking of Niccolo, those two are always swapping recipes and cooking tips. Sasha loves it because it means no matter where she is, she's always eatin' good.

Jean's a pretty decent baker too, though he does prefer cooking to baking. He always makes a decorated cake for Mason's (his five-year old son, for those of you who haven't read Second Chances) birthday - last year it was Magic Tree House themed.

He *always* participates in the school bake sale - everyone loves his snickerdoodles, which Mason also enjoys helping with (though he usually just makes a big mess).

Reiner on the other hand . . . (implied Reibert)

When Reiner and Bertolt moved in together, Bert was shocked about how awful Reiner was at cooking. I'm talking "he even burns ramen!! how do you mess up ramen??" The smoke detectors were going off and everything, it was a disaster.

Reiner legit thought microwaving something was cooking, someone help him.

For his birthday, Bertolt signed Reiner up for a cooking 101 series through Liberio Community Education.

Poor Reiner was very nervous about this at first, but he ended up loving it! By the end of the month, he was so proud to make Bert a simple pasta recipe - no smoke detector incident this time.

Reiner has an apron that says "kiss the chef" - Bert very much enjoys this for obvious reasons.

Reiner has continued to keep his cooking pretty basic, it's baking and mixology where he really shines.

He makes the best lemon poppy seed scones you've ever had. And!! Chocolate hazelnut croissants. He also really got into the sourdough starter trend.

Imagine Reiner kneading dough on a Sunday morning. That's all.

As a former football player, Reiner never imagined his big, muscular hands and arms could be used to make these sweet little treats :')

As for mixology, Reiner was never really into "those fruity drinks" until Bert convinced him to try a cosmo at a bar. He loved them so much he told Bert they have to go back soon. Bert shrugged and said they could just make them at home. Reiner had never considered this and immediately looked up cosmo recipes. Now he has a full bar cart and makes the best mojitos with the mint Bert grows in their backyard!

Introduction & Contents

Very many books and websites about Wicca put a lot of emphasis on spells and other practical applications, on the Witchcraft aspects. While those components are valid and important, sometimes that emphasis creates too much of a surface level aesthetic of being a Witch, and the spiritual basis gets overshadowed. This all occurs with the ever-present reminder that Wicca and Witchcraft are not the same thing, while simultaneously removing the distinction by focusing on the Witchcraft, and still labeling it Wicca. 

It is my aim with this project to bring the focus back around to Wicca as a religion of substance, rather than the aesthetic. It’s also meant to be informational, and provide perhaps a middle-of-the-road perspective on Wicca; I don’t believe one must be Initiated into any Tradition to be considered and accepted as a Wiccan, but I do believe there are things that are and are not part of Wicca, just like any other religion. That being said though, my focus is on what is, rather than what isn’t; I’m not interested in throwing shade at anyone else for their practices, choices, or preferences.

I am an Initiated Wiccan (2nd Degree Gardnerian), and an hereditary Witch. I was taught Wicca from a young age (mid-1980s) by my parents, and actively pursued Initiation beginning at about 16 (I’m now over 40). As such, honestly, I haven’t read extensively on Wicca, as I already had what I considered to be more than the basics. I do have a few reading recommendations, however, which I will share at the end of this series.

Everything I've written is solely my opinion, coming from my own experiences, thoughts, and interactions. I do not speak for anyone but myself, not even other Wiccans. Additionally, I will be talking about Wicca in general, and not the specific (Oathbound) Tradition I was Initiated into. Anything I seem to be stating as fact should be viewed as generally accepted, though keep in mind that opinions and practices will always vary, depending on who you talk to. Some of this information assumes a general knowledge of Wicca and Paganism more broadly, but if anything seems confusing or unclear, please don't be afraid to ask questions, either in comments or DMs.

✱  LAYER  ONE … the  basics.

one.  connective and blood magic are their specialties. with extra life and ability to withstand things in their half vampire state, the recklessness to master the use of both with dabbling into ritual, sacrifice, and ancestral magic would make them dangerous ⸺ if they wanted to be. it takes years of anger for kwame to exert their energy for the use of revenge but it's not unheard of. their maker disappeared and many suspect it to have been a result of something kwame did to them. they'll never deny but the extent of what he did is between him, the ancestors, and his maker.

two.  they seem to have an endless wealth, and in theory, they do. there are books on the shelves they collect residuals for yet in their ' old age ' he will choose the lazy route at all times. whatever or whoever will shower them in luxury, whoever owns the softest sheets kwame will give their fleeting allegiance. to have them go out of their way for you ? consider yourself special.

Hold my chai, aunty has arrived in the Mansion

It was just a normal day of work for aunty. You know, the usual, kicking her husband and children out for work and school with their tiffin and bags in tow.

Finishing cleaning the house like a sonic with extra energy drinks and taking the rubbish out,

Then finally! A hot shower

She was only left with making her sweet and relaxing lunchtime tea when her doorbell rang.

She opened the door and.....everything turned white and aunty's life turned upside down. Or did it?

Actually it turned up. I mean her life was already up but now it's better-ish?

She's basically on a month-long vacation! Away from her husband and children (I mean sure she's worried about the state of the house but they can manage by themselves right? They won't miss her.....right? Ok fine maybe she's kind of sort of worried about them and missing them but she KNOWS she can go back so haha!)

The mansion people were quite warm and welcoming towards her so it didn't take much time for her to adjust.

Comte had no choice but to order some.....groceries for dear aunty. He couldn't say no to her. Especially with how disappointed she looked while eating food or having her tea.

He also had to turn the wine cellar into a grocery store room. But he sure had great company with aunty! Joining her outside in his garden. 

Smoking who? Comte got rid of his cigar and now constantly has a cup of chai in his hand (mostly because aunty would yell nonstop for him and leonardo to stop smoking. One day, Arthur was walking around half naked around the mansion only to receive the MOST judgemental stare in his entire life

“Put some goddamn clothes on, child! You’ll catch a cold at this rate.”

House slippers became a thing ever since and now NO ONE dares to wear shoes inside the house. 

Vincent had to learn cooking as well, like proper cooking.

Aunty found it shocking that even her daughter's terrible cooking wasn't as bad as his. So that was saying something.

They had SO much help in the kitchen. They wouldn’t let aunty do the cleaning and laundry though, that’d be rude and she’s basically on a vacation. She needs to relax! 

Her favourite weapon of choice to discipline the mansion boys is her handy dandy jharu (broom).

She'd pass it to Mitsuki or Sebastian when they'd go wake up Napoleon. If he tried to do his sleep-kissing thing- he'd get one smack on his face with the broom.

Idk how she got it but she somehow has it so we roll with it okay?

I just saw this post about both how to answer to transphobes and how education kind of works and... Educationally wise I get simplifying things for people to understand, I don't get not disclosing information, excessive rigidity or even lying in basic levels for it to be simpler. It only leads to confusion.

When I studied Russian at University, we were given basic rules for the perfective and imperfective aspect of verbs. They were rigid rules that, as it happens, we had to replicate exactly in exercises and exams. Years later, living in Russia, I was faced with a big exception to this that could have been mentioned at some point: the speaker can decide to use perfective or imperfective in certain situations by feeling to mean something different. [This is actually something to keep in mind with almost all language thing, if you are learning a new language: native speakers break rules all the time]. What this practically meant was that it broke a whole scheme and I felt I had to restart again. It didn't add new information, it created a whole new set of values. Sure it was fast to me (Russian was my 4th language at the time), but I have seen people really struggle with new information like this because it felt like all they had learnt was for nothing, and not only in languages.

I recently signed up for a wine tasting course and, in the notes for theory we were given, the information is very basic winemaking 101 and it includes the sentence: "only red grapes have tanins" which is a lie. I know they say this to make it easier to understand, to simplify the explanation on why red wine has more tanins that white wine but that is not how it works at many levels. It is a full lie that will also affect the understanding of how wine is made. Will they correct this information in class? Maybe in an advanced level? I have been learning about winemaking on my own and knowing all grapes have tanins is actually one of the easiest parts of this.

I was taught about trans people as a child with a very simple explanation from my mom that was not a lie and that included all the knowledge my mom had at the time. "This is a girl who was born a boy and she is getting surgery to be a girl again".

Complex things don't need to be deceiving in order to be easy to understand.

Reading the (Visual) Rainbow 101

Lesson 8 - Recap

Because I get so many asks about colors, I decided the best way to celebrate Pride is to educate anyone who is interested in how to better Read the (Visual) Rainbow and simultaneously allow myself to appreciate queer media.

Well, we have finally reached the end of these lessons, and now it's time to review what we have learned. But before we begin, I want to thank the thirty-some-odd people who showed up twice a week. You're cool kids, and I appreciate you. Hopefully, you learned a thing or two, and if not, at least I provided something nice to look at.

Let the recap begin!

Lesson 1 - Visual Rhetoric [Rainbow]

In the first lesson, we learned the basics of rhetoric, which is the art of persuasion. To figure out what the media (text, show, film) wants to persuade us of, we must look at the rhetorical situation such as who is the creator, who is the intended audience, what is the purpose of the piece, what is the argument, and what is the tone, as well as other points. We must also figure out which rhetorical appeals the creator is using to persuade us: our emotions (pathos), with logic (logos), or through credibility (ethos).

Much like the first lesson where we applied these concepts to Eugene Lee Yang colorful "I'm Gay" video, we are going to walk through all of these lessons for Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow's "Industry Baby" music video to see how much knowledge we gathered through our time reading the visual rainbow.

Lesson 2 - Colors [Red]

We stepped into the red for our second lesson with Jessie Ware's "Free Yourself," Sam Smith & Kim Petras's "Unholy," and Troye Sivan's "My, My, My" and learned about colors. We covered the basics of color theory, color psychology, and color symbolism. Color theory looked at ways we can combine and mix colors for different visual situations by using hues, tints, shades, and tones, while color psychology taught us how colors are connected to humans' emotions and behavior. We used both to see how colors are used as symbols which is known as color symbolism.

Applying this lesson to our example video, we notice mainly pink with some red and purple tints (blended with white) mixed in.

Using color theory, we know the lighting is brighter and they are more warm colors. Color psychology tells us that these are happier hues and normally associated with femininity. The symbolic value of the colors could be establishing the lighter tone of the video and possibly commenting on gender and masculinity.

Lesson 3 - Other Visuals [Orange]

The third lesson moved into the orange with George Michael's "Freedom" and Hayley Kiyoko's "She" to examine how objects provide metaphor, metonymy, and meaning. For example, clothing, posters, signs, and books can all provide additional information about the piece's purpose as well as represent a larger abstract idea.

In the example video, we notice Lil Nas X in his jail cell polishing his Grammy Awards for "Old Town Road", fixing his framed multi-platinum record for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)", and walking past a poster for his 2021 performance at the BET Awards.

We should note that all of these objects were points of controversy in the rapper's career. "Old Town Road" was removed from country lists for not being country enough, which prompted multi-platinum country singer Billy Ray Cyrus to join the song. The song ended up wining several awards including two Grammy Awards and was nominated for Best Record of the Year. His music video for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" titled after himself and the queer film of the same name caused a ruckus due to its explicit queer themes which some believed to be harmful messages. His performance at the 2021 Awards caused the same issues due to his on-stage kiss with one of his male dancers.

Once again, all deal with controversy regarding the rapper's queerness and societal norms/labels, so the music video is making a statement about these concepts. The title of the song is also stylized in all caps ("INDUSTRY BABY") as if shouting the artists are new generation of show business.

Lesson 4 - Barriers & Boundaries [Yellow]

For the third lesson, we danced in yellow with Silvy in "Queen" and Joel Corry x MNEK in "Head & Heart" to see how external barriers and boundaries are shown to demonstrate internal emotional disconnect between characters. An object between two characters, different background colors, lines on windows, doors, bridges, and much more could serve as visual barriers. People could even be a barrier between characters. We also looked at how other objects can serve as boundaries such as bars showing oppression, and levels and steps demonstrating power dynamics.

Because the example video is located in a prison, we see plenty of bars.

Yet strangely enough, the rapper nor his collaborator, Jack Harlow, are kept behind them. If they are shown behind bars, the doors are open, they are walking around them, or the gates are opening. As much as people want to oppress them, the men are free to walk and dance around as they please, and aren't at odds with each other since there are no barriers between them.

Lesson 5 - Group Effort (Go Team Go!) [Rainbow]

For the fifth lesson, we had to call on some rainbow friends in The Internet's "Come Over," Bob the Drag Queen's "Gay Barz," Saucy Santana x Latto's "Booty," and Scissor Sisters' "She's My Man" to see how a group of people helps the leads reinforce the story's purpose. If each character has their own color, it shows that a group effort is needed to accomplish the goal. If a main character wears the same color as the rest of the characters, he belongs to the group. But if the lead is wearing a different color than all the rest of the characters, he is independent from the group or being ostracized. If the two main characters are wearing light and dark clothing, the story might be about balance.

The rapper and his accomplice both wear the pink prison uniforms, so they fit in with the entire group. However, both the rappers take off their shirts to distinguish that they are different from the rest who remain fully clothed.

The only outliers to the group are the prison guards who wear black uniforms. However, it is shown that both prison guards lust after the leads and are depicted as the repressed characters contained to single rooms, while the pink prisoners are more sexually and physically free.

Lesson 6 - Cultural Awareness [Green & Blue]

The sixth lesson required we sit in the green and blue to gain cultural literacy as we viewed Avicii's "Silhouettes" and Bad Bunny's "Yo Perreo Sola." We had to understand that in order to learn about some of the visuals we were seeing, we had to understand the culture from which they came, and we had to move away from ethnocentrism which is assessing other cultures based on our own culture's expectations.

Although the video is American, which most of us are culturally included it, the video has several American, Black, and queer culturally references.

The video begins with Lil Nas X being sent to prison for essentially the crime of being gay, but the case alludes to his real life legal issues with Nike after releasing a "Satan Shoe" even though the company had no issue with the previous released "Jesus Shoe." The obvious references are to the films Escape from Alcatraz and The Shawshank Redemption which both deal with (innocent) men being sent to prison and being treated unfairly. The video also includes Colton Haynes, an actor in the very popular Teen Wolf and Arrow, who was forced to go back into the closet due to Hollywood's expectations of action stars.

Lesson 7 - It Could All Mean Nothing [Purple & Pink]

Finally, we landed in the purple and pink and learned about the use of literary criticism and critical media studies, so we could find the best ways to analyze media such as Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's "Rain on Me" video. We had to come to terms with the fact that some visuals don't enhance the narrative, but we also recognized that although they don't matter to the story, they still provide information about the rhetorical situation.

The example video features mostly black men in the prison which is reflective of America's disproportionate and unjust incarceration rate of Black men. The rapper had previously made comments about the Black community's denial of homosexuality after his 2021 BET Awards performance, so the open displays of Black queerness were a cultural note as well, but don't necessarily shape the video's purpose.

Jack Harlow wears a KY necklace but that merely tells us he is from Kentucky, while Lil Nas X receives a book about aligning his chakras with a secret tool hidden in it. The book could be symbolic of him restoring balance, but it doesn't hinder the narrative if we don't understand it.

Lesson 8 - Recap: A Full Circle! [Pink -> Red]

In this lesson, we ended where we began - dissecting a video from an openly queer artist for its visual rhetoric as we move through the colors of the rainbow.

Gathering all of our elements, we can come to the conclusion that the rapper's message was one about not conforming to the music industry's standards regardless of the punishment, mostly in regards to queerness. That message was explicit, but the minor visuals we noticed along the way reinforced this message.

Because that's what visual do.

So if you learned anything from these lessons, let it be that visuals support the narrative so we can have a better understanding of the overall message.

Oof, girl, I feel your pain! That talking stage/situationship vortex sounds like emotional quicksand. And mind-games? No wonder you're still feeling the fallout! Here's my take, with a side of tough love and a sprinkle of humor:

This dude had the emotional range of a teaspoon. Hot and cold, sweet words but shady actions – classic gaslighting 101. Good riddance, even if it doesn't feel that way right now.

Self-care is essential, but sometimes the heart needs its own workout as well. Crying with your date? Honey, that wasn't the wine, your heart needed a good sob session.

Ditch the "Shoulds": Everyone heals in their own way, we're not robots. Hookups, rebounds, they're not for everyone. Trying to force yourself into that mold is only going to make you feel worse. Not to mention hook-up culture never benefits women at all, it's extremely unsafe physically and emotionally.

Numbness is...well, normal(unfortunately): After a mind-screw like that, your feelings are in self-defense mode. Be patient. Focus on small moments of joy, even if it's binge-watching trashy reality TV or going to a concert that will feed your soul(there are endless options).

Therapy, trusted friends, and books my dear: A professional can help you untangle those emotional knots and shut down the "it's my fault" soundtrack in your head. Friends can help with validating your emotions. Books can guide you similar to how a professional would, sometimes even better I would argue.

It's gonna take time. Your heart didn't break overnight, and it won't magically mend that quickly either. But with self-compassion, maybe some help, and ditching that manipulative jerk, you'll get your spark back.

With just enough silver to secure the trip back to Stormwind, a rash had appeared in blotty red patches along her neck and collar.  The grand parlor smelled faintly of burning ozone and old paper.  "Most places smelled this way in Dalaran,"she mused to herself.  She was so close to her dream.  It had taken one year to save enough coin to send her curriculum vitae to the multiple colleges on her list.  She’d only heard back from this one, and the thought made her palms sweat.  

“Matylldah Ashton?” A sliver of amber light pierced the ambient purple hues that glittered from arcane sconces.  The mage-prospect glanced around the empty parlor, and finally, she stood.  They were calling her.  “Tilly will be fine if it please you,” she called back to the man at the edge of the amber glow.  The man’s stern features peered back at her over his half-moon spectacles, and as she neared, he held his hand out for her to shake.  “Matylldah Ashton,” he stated as she took his hand. He either hadn’t heard her or he didn’t care, but Tilly was not willing to take any chances. Not today, at least.  “My name is Cyril Mooney, your academic advisor.”

Tilly curtsied and nodded.  “Pleased to meet you, sir,” she said nervously as she rounded his desk.  A copy of her curriculum vitae, heavily marked and notated, was sprawled across his desk.  Not one for small talk, her advisor seated himself across from her and eyed the pieces of parchment for a long, heavy moment before clearing his throat.  

“Skilled in conjuration, I see. Is it really true you can conjure any food or drink product?” Tilly nodded. “It is true,” she answered.  “I really do fancy the art of conj–”

The man in front of her waved at her to be silent. “I don’t doubt it, but these other skills… classes…well. It is an interesting combination.  Agricultural Arithmetic? Basic First Aid? Kul Tiran Literature? It simply won’t do, Matylldah. I’m sorry, but there is no spot for you here until you’ve completed the pre-requisites. None of these are transferable, regretfully.”

She pressed her lips together and wilted in her seat as she looked over the pre-requisite list:

Without another word, she rose from her seat and out of his office.  She would return one day when she was very great or very rich. 

And, as the story goes, Tilly could be found in the taverns of the Blue Recluse and Slaughtered Lamb. Six years into gathering tips, and she still did not have the coin it required to begin her venture. She wasn't even close. Perhaps, one day, she would meet a wealthy noblewoman or a knowledgeable wizard who needed a new apprentice. And even still, maybe she'd find a large purse of gold left behind by one of the drunken patrons.

That was something fate would decide, and she took great comfort with the knowledge that even her nativity could not stop the fates.

Would survivor!Sally take other survivors under her wing? Especially if they're much younger than herself or are in need of guidance for whatever reason/at any point?

OH THIS IS SUCH A GOOD QUESTION!

Survivor Sally is an odd beast to tackle. Personality-wise, she fits a criteria more synonymous with a wine aunt than an involved motherly figure. She is reserved, vigilant, distant, cold, sardonic, overly responsible to the point of seeming 'stuck-up,'

The kind of survivor that's group focused during a trial, but back at the campfire, she'll prefer to sit away from the glowing embers and listen in on conversations rather than chime in with her own stories and thoughts. More of a black cat than a mother hen.

It's not personal, and it certainly doesn't mean she dislikes the survivors; in fact, I would say that survivor Sally loves her teammates platonically at the best of times. Enough to call them her friends and throw herself in front of a killer to protect them. Yet... being super warm, upbeat, bubbly and affectionate. That just ISN'T her. Never has been, never will be. Nowadays, we'd call her introverted and depressed, but back in her day, she was called a schoolmarm and a stick in the mud, and she knew there was truth in the claims.

For this reason, she would pull away from attempts made by other survivors to get closer to her and deepen the seemingly shallow friendships she'll establish with them. Partially out of self-preservation, after all, I've mentioned it before, but loss and feelings of rejection get to Sally like stains on white fabric, but also out of misplaced insecurity: an 'I don't have anything to add, and I don't want to bring the mood down,'

But all of this being said, in the cases of survivors that encourage her input and seem to not only want her presence and guidance but need it? She will try her damnedest. Emerging from her shell, or so to speak, it's difficult but she'll engage them in conversation more, checking in on them, asking questions about the things she'd learned about them, but not only that, remaining close.

Remember what I said about Sally not wanting to teach others her perks? Throw that out the window because now that she doesn't feel she is imposing herself on her teammates, she's happy to help, open to it, and wants to. She'll teach them the basics. No need to go into the particulars, it'll just muddy the waters. How to stitch up a wound, bandage around weapons inside, using a tourniquet, splinting. It may be Healthcare 101 in the fog but it's bonding to her.

Likewise, whether they want to view her as an adoptive maternal figure or guardian, teacher, aunt, anything. All I know is their warmth will mean the world to defrosting her and she will be whatever she can for them. She WILL see them out of this hellhole, even if she pulls a Blight arc and goes killer against the killers to try and bust them out!

So for safety reasons, if you are performing any of my Rituals alone, and/or don’t have someone with prior experience in attendance, omit those particular rites. The end of each script indicates where to go next, and where relevant, includes the alternate rite to proceed to if skipping the DDM/DDS (most often, Cakes and Wine). I am still including them in this collection, as I believe that direct confrontation of Divine presence is an important aspect of Wicca.

In several rites, I’ve included extra tools specific to the occasion and beyond the basics. These are items I personally own and choose to make use of. Don’t feel obligated to acquire these, almost all of them are optional props meant to enhance the rite. They are in no way required.

I’ve opted to use names I concocted for the Equinoxes, Vernalia and Autumnus. You can call them by the more common names of Ostara and Mabon if you like, or simply Spring and Fall. The other Sabbat names are those I grew up hearing and using. I talk a bit more about other names in the Wicca 101 piece about Celebrations. I also have rites written for other Moon phases, if there’s interest in those, but they are not commonly celebrated.

I don’t include specific Deity names, although there are blanks for them in places. Feel free to fill in those blanks, if you wish to call on Deities that seem to you to fill the roles appropriately. If not, you can simply use “Lord/Lady” or “God/dess.”

Thanks for your interest in both my Wicca 101 series and these rituals. I still dream of one day becoming a teacher of this Art, and this is the closest I’ve come. It truly means a lot to me.
