Symbols surrounding Boufuurin's leaders and their meanings
This post will go into explicit symbols (ones that are clearly drawn with the intention to show the audience) of the flowers that represents our Four Heavenly Kings, and Umemiya Hajime.
(Implicit Boufuurin symbols)
Tumblr media
The fanatic - Sugishita Kyoutarou
The first, and most impressive piece of symbolism that hit me is from chapter 3, when we meet Sugishita for the first time.
Tumblr media
While I was doing research, I came across @/sawacore on twitter who had pointed out that the 5 flowers are the flowers of Boufuurin's Heavenly Kings and Umemiya.
Tumblr media
The 5 flowers
Below is my effort to match and name these flowers. I don't think I am 100% correct, but I've identify the most distinguishable details about them. (And all of them are edible! What a surprise!)
Umemiya - Ume (Plum blossom)
Tumblr media
Plum blossom means good fortune, health, and a talisman against evil. Moreover, Ume flower is also considered Sakura (cherry blossom)'s older sister, as it blooms at the end of winter and beginning of spring, right before cherry blossom does.
Tsubaki - Japanese Camellia
The flower is in their name, so there is no speculation here.
Tumblr media
Tsubaki resembles freedom of choice and perfect love, which is very in character for our Tsubaki. Tsubaki had broken the gender norms to wear skirt and make-up even if they were born as a boy. Moreover, I truly adore their opinion on love: Love's value is in its own and doesn't need to be reciprocated for it to be perfect. They loved being in love, and that was what's beautiful about it.
Mizuki - Amana flower (Tulipa edulis/アマナ)
Tumblr media
Now I can't find the meaning of this flower, so maybe I was wrong here. But this flower is, in fact, edible, and kind of fits the description: Pointy petals and cruciform. Please let me know if you find a better flower!
Momose - Momo flower (Prunus persica)
Tumblr media
Momo flower means "fascinating personality", love, and good luck. It's a little all over the place, yes, but maybe we haven't known enough about Momose?
Hiiragi - Holly berry
Tumblr media
Holly, or holly berry included, represents prosperity and focus strength. This is factually correct, as Hiiragi is the leader of a team whose name is taken from the god of warfare.

just wanna say i have wind breaker brain rot right now (the manga)
10/10!! highly recommend reading/watching it!
Tumblr media
i’m hoping that i can find the manga but i dont have high hopes. some merch maybe? the chance is probably really low too though :/
more photos under the cut! + me talking about them
also i really want suo’s earrings but they’re impractical so i probably can’t get them 😭 maybe next time 😔
also please tap on the photo for higher quality!
also x2, there blood in the second photo, not a lot but just a warning!
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM
Tumblr media
i haven’t watched the anime on my phone to screenshot yet so i don’t have any good pics but KIRYUU <33 he’s the longish haired person. can you tell he’s my favourite. and Nirei being best supporting character <33
i had mixed feelings about kiryuu at first cuz i was uncertain about his vibe BUT HES AMAZING
Tumblr media
kaji is a favourite too!!! his headphones, lollipop and hoodie is so iconic. i also love his parallel to sakura! sakura has someone to ask advice for who’s similar to him :))
Tumblr media Tumblr media
introducing the four kings of furin/bofurin!
MOMOSE, the zojo king (the guy with a hood and sweater paws) we don’t know much about him yet (i hope we get more) but i just like him so he’s a favourite! so my top three are kiryuu, kaji and momose, in no particular order
tsubakino, the jikoku king (the one in the second frame)! the way the whole town just accepts them!! and their crush is treated like any other normal crush! they’re so older sibling vibe i love them so much
hiragi, the tamon king (the one in the third frame)! the dad of the group and the one who pops those stomachache pills/tablets like it’s nothing. tbf having to deal with the leader of furin, who legit yells into the broadcast mic thing, isn’t easy 😭
mizuki, the komoku king (the guy in the first frame)! nothing much is known about him either but he’s seems serious and is the strategy person of furin. also he takes off his glasses when he fights which is just really cool
also i realise i haven’t said this but the one with dual colored hair (kinda like todoroki shouto) is the main character of the manga, sakura, who’s goal is to be at the top of furin! he’s got ✨ trauma ✨ but he’s slowly learning to accept and rely on people :)) he also blushes at any kind of romance (and also when he’s shy or embarrassed), even hand holding. i don’t know how he’s gonna date people honestly
Tumblr media
and of course, the leader/representative of furin, hajime umemiya! he’s really just like an elementary school kid, as Suo says. hes the sunshine character who you wouldn’t wanna piss off. he’s also the one who united furin with the four kings when they used to be a dog-eat-dog kind of school, so major respect to him!
(the next one contains a bit of spoiler on suo?? idk but just a warning. it’s more of a mini analysis)
Tumblr media
a more formal introduction of suo and nirei, sakura’s vice captains and the supporting characters! nirei is good with people and collects information on people in his notebook. he’s the sunshine in the trio, and the other two are the sunshine protectors! suo is a joker, but don’t let that kind face get to you. he’s like the main instigator of most of the (harmless) shit that goes down in 1-1. he’s also mysterious with little information about him. oh and he doesn’t eat?? not in front of other people at least. i really wanna know his backstory tbh
but also:
Tumblr media
suo. hes mostly easygoing with a smile on his face all the time. but also freaking scary when pissed off like if someone was looking at me like that i’d run and never look back. yes sakura is right, that’s not the face of someone who’s kind, not in this case. i’ll make a post psycho analysing him later
but he takes fourth on my favourite character list! then tsubakino, umemiya, nirei, hiragi, tsugeura, kusumi, suzuri, choji, togame, the twins etc. the list goes on.
Tumblr media
point is: wind breaker is great and i highly recommend reading/watching it.
thats all! imma go make a post analysing suo later, because seriously he’s so mysterious. thanks for reading!

OP I CAN SEE YOUR VISION!!! I hope you don't mind me contributing to this because it's just a good concept! (I love women they are my everything)
A fully female group/organization hasn't had that many representations in media (we will exclude harem-styled anime for now because I don't know that much about it), but the concept is deep-rooted and very fascinating.
(Putting a break so ppl don't have to scroll too much hehe)
In the west, the only instance that I can think of is female group of witches (someone pleasepleaseplease add more to this). But in eastern culture, the earliest example could be The Cave of Silken Web (from Journey to the West), which coincidentally also endorses the theme of Buddhism - the underlying theme in Wind Breaker symbolism (Four Heavenly Kings,... etc.). And besides sukeban that you've mentioned, that's pretty much all I know. So yes, it's very under-represented, therefore it'd be SO AWESOME if Nii Satoru decides to include sukeban! In a manga about delinquent, surely there would be, at the very least, mentioning of girl delinquent!
Also, in my opinion, all leaders we've seen so far aren't necessarily bad. Yes, most of them were introduced as enemies (except Nakamura's case as the chairman of Roppo Ichiza), but we've also learnt that their opposition to Boufuurin came from struggles (except KEEL and Noroshi) and they all had become allies afterwards. If a sukeban gang is added, I'd expect a similar pattern.
As for the discussion about name, Noroshi's name is specifically targeted at Boufuurin as the names mean "signal smoke" (i think this post explains it really well), while Shishitouren means "lion's head", which has a positive connection to Boufuurin because where do lions live? In the woods! I know it sounds kinda goofy but regarding eastern folklore, it does make sense. And in the end, Bourfuurin and Shishitouren became friends, while I don't think there will be a universe where the same thing happens with Noroshi.
Where am I going with this? The point here is that the new gang's name should also imply their relationship with Boufuurin if they're a plot-relevant group (unlike KEEL or Gravel's case, since KEEL only affects class 1-1 and class 2-1 captains, and Gravel technically was intruding Roppi Ichiza, not Boufuurin; Roppo Ichiza is also a quite independent group). I also totally agree with water being a potential name! If one looks into Wuxing, 'Water' gives birth to 'Wood', and water is associated with gentleness and agility, which is a stark contrast to Boufuurin, or any delinquent gangs, style (violence, brute-forcing, speaking using their fists).
That's all I have. And YES PLEASE MAKE A PART 2!!! (can you please tag me if you make it :3? It's no pressure, ofc)
I've seen people making up different story arcs on what will happen after the Noroshi War so here's mine.
*Manga spoilers ahead*
Maybe in the future, Nii Satoru-sensei might create a story arc about a sukeban*.
*A sukeban is a delinquent girl gang that emerged in Japan from the 1960s to 1970s.
History
Tumblr media
Credits: yaz1ska on Instagram
Sukebans were formed due to bōsōzoku a.k.a. male biker gangs or the yakuza not accepting female members. The rise of sukebans has a huge impact on the feminist movement in Japan. Each gang has their own rules, hierarchy, and ways of punishment. E.g. Cigarette burns were considered a minor punishment if a gang member was disrespecting a senior member or stealing a boyfriend.
My thoughts if it were to come true
If the author included a story arc about a girl gang, I would have faith in him. I mean look at how well-written & well-designed the ladies in wind breaker are.

*I love how the author would draw sketches of Kotoha with major characters such as Tsubakino and Sakura. This means that Kotoha is more important than we have initially thought. Moreover, kudos to Nii Satoru-sensei for not sexualising Kotoha. I am sick and tired of mangakas sexualising female characters for no reason.*

Not to mention many of us know that Nii Satoru-sensei is good at writing complex characters such as Tsubakino.

Story Arc, Characters & Operation
As for how this story arc will be executed, I believe it will cover topics such as feminism, struggles of womanhood and mistreatment of women.
Moving on to how this sukeban operates, here's my input. I believe everything they do is the complete opposite of Bofurin. E.g. instead of protecting their own town, they protect themselves. This is because the town they live in is also the complete opposite of Makochi, hostile and narrow-minded.
*I just thought of making this sukeban the complete opposite of Bofurin because I think it's interesting to see their reactions. It's also hilarious because the opposite of a boy gang is a girl gang. Get it? Okay, I'll stop.*
I also believe maybe this sukeban and its base can act as a sanctuary for women of its town who were mistreated by men such as giving them food, shelter etc.
I believe the overall vibe that they give is going to be like the military instead of high school.
As for their leader, maybe she'll be the opposite of Umemiya, stoic and serious. However, it is interesting if she was a good leader like Umemiya because so far we've only seen bad leaders in Wind Breaker.
As for their gang name, maybe it will be associated with elements such as water or space. This is because the other gangs e.g. Bofurin 防風鈴 is named after the wind element, Noroshi 狼煙 is named after the fire element, Gravel and Shishitoren 獅子頭連 are named after the earth element along with KEEL is named after or related to the metal element.
*I know that Shishitoren are named after animals but animals are also related to Earth sooo*
Final Thoughts
Overall, this is just a random thought of mine that I just want to share. If Nii Satoru-sensei doesn't include a story arc that talks about girl gangs, I won't be disappointed or upset as long as he writes a good story.
*P.S.. this is my first time ranting about an anime so feel free to critique or educate me if I've made a mistake. Also, I still have some opinions regarding this sukeban idea so should I create a part 2?*

Amazing Quest 1: Chapter 1
An older project I was part of. This isn’t going to replace Photon Breaker Zechs; just something else for you all to enjoy. This is an Infrequently Asked Questions; a walk-through for a game which doesn’t exist.
Cast:
Hiro D. Protagonist
Class: Pudding Warrior
Element: Light
Weapons: Swords/Shields
The hero of the story, he has the ability to transform into the powerful Pudding form. He also is something of an idealist and romantic; something both his party-members and enemies capitalize on (read: rib on endlessly).
Ozma Zorus Toruble
Class: Martial Princess
Element: Fire
Weapons: Knuckles
The princess of the Toruble kingdom, and practitioner of the ancient fighting art of Tsien-Do. She has many detractors (Waaa, waaaaa, MUH MOE PRINCESS) but her head-exploding effectiveness cannot be denied.
Kimyawa
Class: Ninja Elite
Element: Wind
Weapons: Shuriken
A buxom kunoichi that Hiro and Ozma rescues from the Dark Puddings, she is a cheerful young woman and also a complete glass cannon. Her toss ability, combined with her insane speed and high attack makes her popular with offensively-minded players.
Loyroll
Class: The Loyroll
Element: N/A
Weapons: Swords
Loyroll. Just Loyroll. There's really no other way to describe Kimaywa's brother. Well, alright, I'll try. Imagine Elton John and Oscar Wilde. Those two fused into one being combined with every Kurosawa hero, that's Loyroll. He fights the Dark Puddings, but only between his true calling: fighting Dinosaurs. Can you match his tempo?
Mancala
Class: Happy Merchant Mermaid
Element: Water
Weapons: Abacus
A ruthless capitalist mermaid who seeks to further her own ends, no matter the cost. This means she'll stoop to no low to keep her investments in the black. Good thing for Hiro, she's on his side, lest his life would be a living hell. Wait....
Moore
Class: Miner
Element: Earth
Weapons: Shovels
An unlucky miner who is trapped by Modt of the Dark Pudding's Heavenly Kings. If you rescue him, you gain a robust, steadfast companion, unfazed by the weirdness that Hiro seems to attract. Not that it makes the World of Dreams any more tolerable. :\
Deima
Class: Furry (Nyuck-Nyuck)
Element: N/A
Weapons: Staves
A powerful Chimera sorceress that assisted ancient Puddings seal Halst away. Her powerful magic makes her a potent ally, as does her adamant refusal to wear pants. She adds a.....unique air to Hiro's party.
Emilia the Sword God
Class: Dark Pudding Slayer
Element: N/A
Weapons: Emilia's Saber
If you manage to acquire Emilia's saber then you gain Hiro's brusque older sister as an ally. Her powerful Pease Pudding form makes her a much-needed relief to the unrelenting late-game. A shame, then, that she cannot use any weapons save her own saber.
Walk-through:
Chapter 1: From one Fire to....Another Fire!
(It is an Age of Myth. The Great Clan of Pudding has always sought to slay Evil and pursue Justice. To this end, they threw down the evil goddess Halst and sealed her in her Higher Realms. To keep her there, they made five Talismans of Power. However, in recent years, a legend of a goddess who can grant any wish if all Talismans are gathered has been circulating. Because of this, half of the Puddings have turned on their brethren. These Dark Puddings seek to dominate the world, and only their embattled cousins, the Light Puddings, can stop them....
It is an Age of Myth, and War. This is the Amazing Quest.)
(A group of people are in a house, as one runs in)
Man: The Dark Puddings are attacking!
You then take control of one of the people, the teenaged Hiro. Talk to the older looking woman In the corner with the green cloak and the blue hair.
Woman: Ah, Hiro, you're here. Those Dark Pudding bastards have arrived. I want you to get to the cellar. You're our last hope!
Hiro: But, Emilia! The Dark Puddings! They'll--
Emilia: Leave it to me! My P-Centage is the highest of our family!
(Emilia then leaves out of the door to the right)
You then take control of Emilia. Make your way outside, and you'll see the village is on fire. To the northeast is a series of turbaned soldiers and a single redheaded woman in a fez.
Fez Woman: Ah, Emilia the Sword God makes her appearance. Soldier! What is her P-Centage?
Soldier:(Fiddling with a handheld screen) It's....It's over--
Fez Woman: I swear to Lulz, if you continue down this road, you'll be sorry!
Soldier: Yes, Lady Jaydea! Her P-Centage is just short of Four Thousand.
Jaydea: Heh, I didn't think the Sword God was so weak. Soldiers! Dispose of her!
(Five soldiers surround Emilia)
Emilia: I'm getting way too elegant for this shit.
You're then thrust into a battle with five D. Pudding Soldiers. This isn't even a challenge. Merely engage Pudding Form, and use the Steam Breath attack to kill them all. Something that always gets me, though, is Emilia's arm shaking idle-motion, as if she's pleasuring her energy saber. How very phallic, Jeffcom.
Jaydea: ….Interesting...But there's one thing you did not calculate.
Emilia: That you're a punk-ass bitch?
Jaydea: You insolent little cur!
You're then thrust into battle with Jaydea. However, there's nothing you can do. After three turns, she'll engage her Pudding form, and it's over. However, for funniness' sake, use Emilia's “Choice Words” skill to make Jaydea freak out at your sick burns.
Jaydea: (Standing over Emilia's smoldering body) I think we're done here. Men! Move out!
You then take control of Hiro, and can move freely about. The Dark Puddings are no longer there, but the village, or Firstown, as the store owner tells you, is in ruins.
Pudding Elder: Hiro! You survived!
Hiro: I know, it was crazy!
Pudding Elder: I am sorry to say, your sister has passed away--
Hiro: Emilia?! NOOOOOOOOOOO
Pudding Elder: Let me finish! She and that Jaydea woman passed away over the Far Bridge, past Ddimel Nowhere! If you hurry, you can get to her! Hiro, you are the product of a breeding program to counter the Dark Puddings. Now is your chance to prove your worth!
Hiro: Wow, um, I'll do my best!
Pudding Elder: Yeah, no pressure or anything, but we're all depending on you.
Hiro: Erm, thanks.
The first thing to do after the elder tells you this is to go onto the Overworld, and grind until you reach level 5, when you get the Rice Pudding form. After you do so, make your way to the east, to a tower there. The sign calls it the Fog Tower, but its actual name in Japanese was “Toad Fortress,” so good going, translation team!
--Fog Tower--
The first thing you'll note, is that the humidity of the Tower lowers your speed significantly. Also, the tower has much tougher enemies than outside, with such lovelies as the Smooch Toad, the Friendly Frog, and the Sweaty Fly all tougher than the munchkins outside. However, you can easily get up to levels 8-9 thanks to them, so search around. The tower is pretty straightforward, and the healing fountains make it even easier. You'll find a buckler, several dengakus, and a Frog Diadem helmet.  After you get all of these items, head to the northwest, where you'll find a dog dressed in a frog costume.
Frog-Dog: Woofwoofwoof! Now, we frogs will take over the region, all thanks to those Dark Puddings!
Hiro: Um, hello! Can I go through?
Frog-Dog: Woofwoofwoof! You! And that birthmark in the shape of a submarine! You must be the one Lady Jaydea told me of! We Frogs will not stand for this!
Hiro: Um, excuse me? I'm pretty sure you're a dog, not a frog.
Dog: That is impossible! I have smooth skin and a long tongue!
Hiro: That's a costume, and you're panting.
Dog: What of my regal bearing and webbed feet?
Hiro: What about your wagging tail?
Dog: I'll smash you to Kibbles and WOOF!
--Boss Battle!--
Frog-Dog King x1
LP: 1000
MP: 250
The Frog-Dog King  is tough, unless you try Rice Pudding. Once you do, the sheer force of your awesome, stupendous...pathetically weak Pudding Form causes the King to double over with laughter, rendering him unable to act for the rest of the battle. Then, simply revert and assault him with normal attacks. If not, then prepare for “Sticky Tongue” and Water-1 to smack you to pieces. Not hard in either case, but still...
--Boss Battle!--
Frog-Dog King: WOOFWOOFWOOF! SO FUNNY! (Explodes)
Hiro: I'm the product of Pudding Eugenics, and I'm STILL this weak? What happened?
(At this, the air in the Tower cleared as the Frog-Dog's panting ceased)
At this, head outside, to find a grateful king and his entourage.
King: Ah, great Hero! You saved my castle from those detestable frogs!
Hiro: You too? It was a dog!
King: Now that the evil Frog King has been slain, we of Dimopint will happily assist against the Dark Puddings!
(At this point, the earth shakes and tosses everyone to the ground. The Fog Tower then collapses right in front of you)
King: Great God, the Dark Puddings must have [Quake Control]!
Hiro: How'd you do that?
King: Eh?
Hiro: Make something seem all important?
King: Oh, It's something that comes with the [Plot], now Hero, since you possess the [Holy Birthmark] you ought to take care of the Dark Puddings and their earthquakes! They have a camp to the southeast. Please avenge our home!
Hiro: (Grumbles)
You then need to proceed to the southeast, as directed, which will lead you to a city on the coast. You need to wait until it's night before you continue on, though, as the Dark Pudding soldiers will capture you, and therefore cause a Game Over. Once it's night, though, half of the Dark Puddings are asleep, allowing you to sneak by. Beware, though, those strange guns that they're carrying hurt, and if you alert them, they'll call more to compensate any you manage to defeat. Once you reach the middle of the city, there's a small building labeled “ Headquarters” enter there to find another dungeon, the Dark Pudding Underground.
--Dark Pudding Underground--
The Dark Pudding Underground is an interesting place. Apparently, the Dark Puddings either drilled directly into Hell or somehow managed to safely harness lava for their own purposes. Anyways, the path is straightforward, with few dead ends. I recommend leveling to 10 here before proceeding on to the end. You'll see why. After you find a rope bridge going north, be warned, a boss awaits you.
(Hiro walks across a bridge to see Jaydea conversing with a gigantic man wearing a metal helmet and another turbaned soldier)
Jaydea: The Light Puddings are no more, save for that so-called “God of Swords”
Man: We'll find a use for her soon enough. What of the search for the Talismans?
Soldier: (Pulls a silk sheet off a podium, revealing a gleaming brown jewel) My Lord, Zoddon, we have found it! The Earth Talisman!
Zoddon: Excellent, with this, our ambition is almost within our grasp.
Hiro: Hey! What are you doing? Where's Emilia?
Zoddon: Who is this?
Jaydea: Some pipsqueak of the Light Puddings. With the Sword God in our possession they have no notable fighters left.
Zoddon: Is that so? Boy, I'll say this for your own sake. Go back. This world...is corrupt. We of the Dark Puddings need to execute this ambition, for your sake, ours' and the entire World.
Hiro: And you burned down my village and kidnapped my sister for....what exactly?
Zoddon: I tire of this. Jaydea, dispose of him...
Jaydea: Torzus, dispose of him.
Torzus: (The soldier from earlier) Yes, my lady!
Zoddon: If you manage to survive this era, then come to see me again. I will be in the city of Gemadne on the Far Continent.
Hiro: You'll see!
(Jaydea and Zoddon step on a blue circle to the right and warp off)
Torzus: Don't forget about me, fool!
--Boss Battle!--
Torzus x1
Vulcan Machine x1
Torzus Stats
LP: 2000
MP: 300
Vulcan Machine Stats
LP: 1000
MP: 0
Torzus is difficult not because of himself, but because of the machine behind him. Every so often, he'll use the “Torzus fiddled with the Vulcan Machine” action, and you'll take 40+ damage due to seismic activity. The trick is to focus on the Vulcan Machine, until it dies, which will kill Torzus.
--Boss Battle!--
Torzus: Ugh, my brothers will avenge me!
(Torzus shifts the range dial to “Entire Continent” and smashes the ignition, as the machine hums and sparks dangerously)
Torzus: (Salutes) LIFE AND PROSPERITY TO EMPEROR ZODDON! (Explodes)
Hiro: Again with the exploding. I hope I don't do that.
Quickly, interact with the machine, which describes the “Massive energy flowing out of the machine.” It then asks if you'd like to remove the Earth Talisman. Do so, and then walk over to the blue circle where Zoddon and Jaydea warped out of. There's actually a hidden timer here, and if thirty seconds pass without you getting the Earth Talisman and walking over to the circle, then you'll get a Game Over, as the city explodes, and you get the message that “The Era of War never Ended”
However, if you DO...
Hiro: WARP!
(Nothing happens and the shaking grows stronger)
Hiro: Uh....WARP! WARP! WARP! PLEASE!
(The circle begins to spark)
Hiro: Oh, Cra--
(The entire Dark Pudding Camp explodes violently, collapsing into the earth, as Hiro is launched violently into the sky)
(Meanwhile, in nearby Toruble, a Pyrophobics Anonymous picnic is taking place, as a flaming star descends on it)
Hiro: -AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!
(The Picnic is then consumed by the impact, leaving a smoldering crater, which a large, muscle-bound woman looks into)

Boufuurin's Four Heavenly Kings and their Buddhism counterpart
We have established that Boufuurin's four teams are based on the four Buddhism gods that watch over the four directions of the world. In this post, we will dive into the correspondence and symbolism behind each team's title.
Notes: they/them pronouns for Tsubaki.
Tumblr media
Jikoku Team (Tsubaki's team)
Tumblr media
Jikoku Team is named after Dhṛtarāṣṭra, or Jikoku-ten (持国天) in Japanese, Guardian of the East. Jikoku-ten has white skin and carries a pipa (a stringed musical instrument), the sound of which calms listeners' minds. His name means "Upholder of the Nation", that is, to rule and keep the order of the kingdom, and protect its people.
A remark should be made about his role. Not only does Jikoku-ten protect all people, but he also shields the gandharva's (or gandhabba's)—non-human beings who seek shelter in trees and flowers that emit scents. Hence, Jikoku-ten is strongly connected to plants.
Now, Tsubaki's name means Camellia—a flower that represents inner strength and deep love. Story lines surrounding them also involve love and flora. From Tsubaki's feelings for Umemiya, who enjoys gardening, to the story between grandpa Ito-san and his late wife Yui-san centering a dogwood tree, it seems like the theme is very consistent.
Komoku Team (Mizuki's team)
Tumblr media
Komoku Team is named after Virūpākṣa, or Komoku-ten (広目天) in Japanese, Guardian of the West. Komoku-ten has red skin, and his name means "All-seeing" or "He Who Has Broad Objectives". His divine eyes can observe the living world, oversee all beings' actions and karma.
Mizuki, true to his title, was the strategist for Boufuurin's defense against Noroshi. He was the one to organize teams into their suitable positions and had kept an eye on Boufuurin's situation during the whole battle.
Zojo Team (Momose's team)
Tumblr media
Zojo Team is names after Virūḍhaka, or Zouchou-ten (増長天) in Japanese, Guardian of the South. Zouchou-ten has blue skin and his name means "growth" or "increase". His role is to oversee hostile gods, protect the younglings, or sprouts, and maintain Buddhism principles.
I think Momose connects to the "fostering sprouts" mission the most. From what we can pick out, he's an artist and we can assume that he somewhat influences the graffiti arts around the Fuurin school building, hence why graffiti in Fuurin has a very consistent and distinguishable style (which is a post that I'm cooking up!!!). By inducing art (not just graffiti, as we can also see random canvas paintings around Fuurin), Momose is indirectly nurturing Fuurin students' personal growth.
Tamon Team (Hiiragi's team)
Tumblr media
Tamon Team is named after Vaiśravaṇa, or Tamon-ten/Bishamon-ten (多聞天 /毘沙門天) in Japanese, Guardian of the North. Tamon-ten has yellow or green skin, is the highest ranking in the Four Heavenly Kings, and is considered the god of war. His name means "Listening to Many Teachings". Besides overseeing the living, Tamon-ten also keeps guard for Buddha's preaches. Thus, one could say he is the closest to Buddha.
Hiiragi perfectly fits into this description. Among the Boufuurin kings, he is the closest to Umemiya, even considered his right-hand man. Hiiragi is probably the strongest, too, as he was given the title of the god of war.

different anon: now you gotta tell us who fudo myoo is (take your time)
Hi anon, of course! ^^ Sorry for the late reply I am juggling with schoolwork.
I'm going to try my best to not sound like a copy-pasted version of the Wiki!
To start with, the Myō-ō (明王) are wrathful deities who represent the power of Buddhism to overcome the passions. Five of the Myō-ō are emanations of the Five Buddha of Wisdom and Fudō Myō-ō (不動明王) is the central deity of the group (the other four deities keep guard of the four cardinal directions). We can see the similarity between Umemiya and the Four Heavenly Kings here.
Fudō Myō-ō (不動明王)'s name consists of 不 (not) 動 (move) which mean "immovable" or "unmoving" (for this, he is often seated or standing on rock), 明 : "wisdom", and 王 : "king".
Fudō Myō-ō is often potrayed surrounded in fire with fierce expression to scare the evils and force them to surrender. He has two fangs, one pointing upward and other pointing downward; and a sword in right hand (thatcan cut through the Three Poisons: Greed, Wrath, Ignorance) and ropes in his left hand.
No picture but I find this to be a very helpful source!
