Hey guys, I keep forgetting to post this but basically I found this picture of persumably be Daendels n William V 🤔 It's like a propaganda thing I believe, the translation of the text on the bottom was weird but I'll give u guys still if y'all curious 😋
Here's the translation :
The left one = "max, hellish ARISTOGRAT! from your accursed mouth, Track the noble offspring of those who did Philip's beaver Tried, for the Vam was founded for their destruction. Here is the FRIEND OF THE PEOPLE whose soft and gentle features prevail Chooses the love of him who honors her"
The right one = "Most hideous monster on the free soil of the Netherlands By blood placate or fetter or make live Your beloved party shines in a charming light. An untroubled mind and a devilish heart discover And the monster is by the Sahile Kloe Kmom ig eradicated"
Like I said, translation was rlly weird probably due to the old style writing but besides that, do u guys think the guy on the left was Daendels or no? 😶🌫️ In a book, they said that it could be Daendels representing the patriots. In my opinion tho, could be 👀 if it was rlly Daendels, I would never imagine seeing him in long hair to be honest haha 😆 But it's cool tho still, it kinda reminds me of young Napoleon w long hair 🫠 Anyways, that's all for now, feel free to tell me what do u guys think abt this n thank you, have a nice day, stay safe 🌙

29 Menachem Av 5784 (1-2 September 2024)
The 29th of Av 5556 brought Jewish emancipation to the Netherlands, the second European nation to grant its Jewish residents fully equal rights with other citizens. Jewish emancipation was at the heart of the shift towards the enlightenment model of secular nation states where all citizens would be equal under the law and away from European feudalism. The Netherlands had permitted Jewish settlement early following its independence from the Spanish monarchy, and Dutch official religious toleration had soon expanded to permit private Jewish worship and to allow Jewish residents nearly unfettered economic activity, but Jews were still prohibited from taking office in government or serving in the military or public guard, and were subjected to the humiliating practice of oath more judaico when offering testimony in civil courts.
All of that was rooted in a concept of the state in which the Calvinist Dutch establishment held control of society and magnanimously extended limited rights to other groups. While Jewish residents received more rights in the Netherlands than they would have had almost anywhere else in Europe, they still had less than other Dutch citizens, including Christian denominations other than the official Dutch Reformed Church.
The European enlightenment however carried with it a different model, in which the state would equally represent all citizens rather than being in the hands of a specific group which could choose how to treat all others. The transition from one paradigm to another did not take place without conflict. In the Netherlands, the autocratic control exercised by the House of Orange with the backing of the merchant elite was challenged by revolutionary reformers who wished to remake society upon these new lines of equality. After a period of persecution and failure, they succeeded in driving out William V in 5555 and establishing the Batavian Republic. The following year, the newly established National Convention declared
"No Jew shall be excluded from rights or advantages which are associated with citizenship in the Batavian Republic, and which he may desire to enjoy.
Amsterdam immediately appointed two Jewish officeholders to exercise these newly established rights. Moses Moresco, a Sephardi Jew, was appointed to the city council, and Moses Asher, an Ashkenazi Jew, was appointed to the city’s court of Justice. Soon, Jewish regiments were also organized in the revolutionary army seeking to defend the new republic from Prussians, Austrians, and English, who wished to restore the prior status quo.
The following decades brought significant turmoil to Europe via the Napoleonic Wars and the eventual conservative settlement which restored many of the overturned monarchies of the continent. But in the Netherlands and throughout much of the rest of the continent, the revolutionary change to Jewish legal status persisted. Emancipation was a settled reality, and Jewish life would also be changed significantly over the coming century to adjust to this shift.

Anthony van Dyck (Flemish/Spanish Netherlands, 1599-1641) Portrait d'un homme de qualité avec son fils, 1625-50 Musée du Louvre
The Spanish Netherlands, (c. 1579-1713), Spanish-held provinces located in the southern part of the Low Countries (roughly corresponding to present Belgium and Luxembourg). As Holland represents only a portion of the Netherlands, or "Low Countries," a brief account of the greater includes the less. The Low Countries were included in the empire of Charlemagne and christianized. During the latter part of the Middle Ages the cities of the Netherlands rose to a very high state of prosperity, and some of them became independent republics. Charles V of Spain formally added the Netherlands to the Spanish crown. In 1555 he resigned his rule over the Low Countries to his son Philip II. Charles had persecuted the Protestants, but Philip outdid him in bigotry and cruelty. He was resisted by the Dutch, led by William of Orange. In 1567 the Duke of Alva came from Spain with a large army. Alva's Bloody Council condemned the Netherlanders by wholesale, merely for the sake of their religion and patriotism, and in 1568, sentence of death was pronounced against all the inhabitants of the Netherlands, with only a few exceptions, as heretics. The bloody struggle continued many years, and the Prince of Orange gained ground, but lost it through the terrible massacre of St. Bartholomew. The little town of Alkmaar withstood a great Spanish army and finally drove the besiegers away by cutting the dikes and flooding the country. In 1573 Alva was recalled by Philip II. Leyden, the seat of the ancient university, was also besieged, held out for five months, and was delivered by cutting the dikes. The Dutch navies were nearly always victorious, and the heroic Netherlands, after many struggles and severe trials, made their country a refuge from religious oppression. The Puritans, driven from England, found freedom there, and left Holland only to found colonies in America and elsewhere. The struggle with Spain had to be carried on for centuries. After many ups and downs, the Republic of the Netherlands had another William of Orange, a Stadholder of Holland, until he was called to the English throne, in 1688. The thrifty Dutch established successful colonies in all parts of the world. William I, II, and III were kings of the Netherlands nearly all the 19th century.

not sure if it counts as an AU, but The Favourite prequel + the "what if M&W had kids" AU?
Ooo, spicy! I've actually thought about this before in a roundabout sort of way.
The kids all have unique relationships with Bentinck and Keppel. Amalia and Maria grew up in the Netherlands (they were 9 and 6 respectively when they came over to England after the revolution) in a fairly relaxed household, so for most of their lives they saw Bentinck as more or less their uncle. They're teenagers by the time rumors really start circulating about his relationship with their dad. Amalia won't here a word of it; she's a huge daddy's girl, has taken Mary's goal of restoring morality to the debauched English court to heart, and is just flat out unwilling to even consider that this man she's known all her life and her beloved father are engaging in "immoral" acts. Maria is more willing to entertain the possibility; she's always been the quiet, observant type and she has noticed... stuff over the years.
William Charles on the other hand has never liked Bentinck. He was born in England and has a strained relationship with his parents, especially William. He's outright seen suspicious stuff between them throughout his life and is close with Anne and Sarah's circle, who drip poison in his ear about William and his associates. It's all very Hanoverian.
Keppel comes into the equation later. In the original kids AU, Mary outlives William (although I do have an alternate path where things work out like they did historically), but in The Favourite AU, William's grief over Mary is very important to the story/character dynamics. Not sure which I wanna go with for this.
Amalia may or may not be out of the picture by the time Keppel starts his rise; she's off in France with Philip of Anjou (Philip V), disconnected from court shenanigans, and may or may not be dead in childbirth. She liked Keppel while she was still there though; he was good with her and her siblings and he makes her father happy.
Maria's position is more complicated. If we go with William outliving Mary, Maria ends up as both the head lady of the court in her sister's absence and as William's caretaker in his poor health. She's never been the type for courtly politics, but once Bentinck and Keppel begin their battle over William, she starts to feel threatened. She doesn't particularly enjoy caring for her ill, grieving, and occasionally quite hard-to-deal-with father, but she doesn't like the idea of courtiers who may have ulterior motives taking her place. However, it all ends up being for naught as she's shipped over to Hanover to marry George Augustus (George II) once things start getting really spicy, possibly partially due to Keppel's suggestion if we wanna get really Favourite-y (she's the one who ends up queen in the end though, so he may live to regret that...)
William Charles ends up as somewhat of a pawn in this whole game. He's not terribly smart when it comes to court politics and his fraught relationship with his father makes it very easy for people to manipulate him. In the main AU, he hates Keppel despite him being kind to him as a child, since he's 100% convinced that he's his dad's sugar baby. In this compound AU, they might actually end up allies, as Keppel would be a lot more manipulative here, convincing William Charles (Billy? idk I need to come up with a nickname for him) that him replacing Bentinck in William's affections would be in his best interest.
William Duke of Gloucester would also be present for these proceedings as I have him survive to adulthood in the kids AU and he's William Charles' closest friend. He's not super keyed-in to the power struggle between Bentinck and Keppel, but he's very close with the other two Williams and ends up getting pulled into this mess by proxy.
#thank you! this was a lot of fun!#i haven't thought in-depth about these guys for a couple years now so this was nice#redlady speaks#history brainrot

Nassaudag Breda 2023 from Ton van de Merwe on Vimeo.

For a number of years now, the Nassaudag has been held on the second day of Pentecost to commemorate the connection between Breda and the Nassau's.
The bond between the Nassau House and the Netherlands came into being in 1403. Count Engelbrecht I of Nassau married Johanna van Polanen, wife of Breda, in that year. Due to their growing family ownership, Bredase Nassaus quickly became one of the highest nobles in our country. They were also given increasingly important functions by the Dukes of Burgundy and Habsburg, which ruled large parts of the Netherlands as landlords. Count Henry III of Nassau (1483-1538), for example, held high civil and military offices. He was also involved in the education of Emperor Charles V. The Nassaus lived for one hundred and fifty years at the Castle of Breda. In this period they provided the impetus for Breda's prosperity and brought the city to development. The nobility who lived on the Castle of Breda worked as a magnet on the art sector, jewellery, design and architecture.
If you think of the Nassaus, you think of the royal house. The House of Orange-Nassau was first mentioned in 1544. William I, Count of Nassau-Dillenburg (1533-1584) - better known as William of Orange or William of Silence - then inherited the Southern French principality of Orange from his nephew René of Chalon (officially René Count of Nassau and Prince of Chalon-Orange). As Prince William he is the ancestor of the House of Orange-Nassau. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Children’s Health Defense reporter Michael Nevradakis just published the only serious coverage I can find of the remarkable fact that Bill Gates has been summoned to a Dutch court, where he is being sued by seven vaccine-injured plaintiffs for making false and misleading statements about COVID-19 vaccines.
My goodness, Gates’s public image has come a long way since 1998, when he was widely presented in the American media as the most ruthless monopolist since John D. Rockefeller. To get a sense of his penchant for petulant arrogance back then, check out the following video of his deposition to a DoJ investigator in the U.S. v. Microsoft antitrust case.
Like John D. Rockefeller, Gates cleaned up his public image by starting a Foundation whose official mission is to promote public health. This reminds me of Robin Williams’s standup joke back in the eighties that “President Reagan’s appointment of James Watt to Secretary of Interior is like having Charles Manson as a male nurse.”
Back at the turn of the 21st century, Gates was widely regarded as a creep. Now I cannot find a single mainstream media reference to his legal trouble in the Netherlands.
It reminds me of the Columbia Journalism Review feature in 2020 Journalism’s Gates keepers. Clearly most MSM reporters and their editors and producers are indistinguishable from prostitutes, though the comparison is probably unfair to sex workers, who don’t pretend to be something else.
