Get To Know Your Moots Writeblr Interview
Thank you to @ceph-the-ghost-writer who tagged me in this and you should def go read their post here! And thanks to @davycoquette for creating the event!
On the Tumblr Writing Community
How long have you had your writing Tumblr/Writeblr?
Since November 2022
What led you to create it?
After having a beyond shitty 2020-2021 and pulling away from social media in general, a friend suggested I give tumblr a shot. I was also desperately looking for beta readers for Sunset and wanted to get involved in a writer community.
What’s your favorite thing about the Writeblr community?
The people! Getting to connect with writers whose brains work like mine!! And getting to rotate their ocs in my head! I've made some incredible friendships through writeblr that I wouldn't trade for anything.
What’s one thing you’d like your mutuals to know about you?
I am as obsessed about Sunset as I seem (possibly more--let's not get into it) but I also love listening to people talk about the things they're obsessed with so I'm always up to exchange some excitement about our respective projects. Also, I'm hella dyslexic so if we chat, be warned you may get some word salad from me sometimes.
Is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?
I love seeing little quotes or snippets of info about OCs that help me become obsessed with them. And out of context lines/dialogue! Those are always a delight.
What tips/advice do you have for someone who made a Writeblr today?
Just put yourself out there! It took me a long time to be comfortable posting anything at all but that's the only way people can get a sense of your stories. Also, don't be scared to reach out to other writeblrs through asks and dms. We're a shy breed but once you corner us into a conversations, you've unleashed a flood of excitement.
WIP it Good
Which Works-in-Progress (WIPs) or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?
Sunset is my main project that I'm writing with my partner @touloserlautrec. It's a behemoth 2,000+ pages of converging plotlines and slow burn romance and intrigue and monster hunting. It's everything I love in a story wrapped up into one. Volume 1 (Sunrise) is out, Volume 2 (High Noon) is releasing weekly, and Volume 3 (Sunset) is probably 75% drafted. (Links in my intro if this somehow reaches someone who isn't already following me.) I've also been poking at a fluff side project to blow off steam for the first time in forever. It's a fluffy romance urban/fantasy with fae and a gay strip club. Just 'cause. I don't know that I'll ever post what I'm writing of this, but who knows?
How long have you been working on them?
Sunset for about 17 years, but seriously writing it for the past 8 years. Fluff Side Project? A month?
Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?
I ran an in-person RPG back in college that led Tou and I to create the world of Sunset and the initial core cast (Reeve, Alex, Hannah, Gareth, Misha, Adler) and then it all spiraled out from there. Fluff Side Project comes from some characters we made just playing around in a world we created as a no-stress play zone. The problems are smaller. The stakes are nothing like the high tension world of Sunset. It's fun. It's gay as hell. It's fluffy. And July is my least favorite month so I decided, hey, why not write it down while I've got writer's block for Sunset?
How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?
Sunset: 28 hours a day. Fluff: I squeeze in 3 or 4 hours in the evening.
When someone asks the dreaded, “What do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?
I struggle to answer this question and it depends on who is asking. If it's on tumblr? I say I write science-fantasy slow build action with horror elements and lots of intrigue. IRL? I deflect.
What do you want to say (if it’s different from what you do say)?
I write about ruining Alex and Reeve's life.
Let’s Rotate Blorbos
Name any characters you created.
There. Are. Too. Many. My favorite babies from my head are Reeve, Penn, Marek, and Anise.
Who’s the most unhinged?
Hannah is my most unhinged trash-panda gremlin. My nudist sniper. Ace Queen. Never shave, never surrender.
Who comes the most naturally for you to write?
Reeve. And yes, that does worry me. (And my therapist.)
Do you ever cringe at them?
The #drag Reeve tag is a thing for a reason. (But really, I love him dearly and he doesn't truly deserve to be dragged as much as he is imo. It's a good bit tho)
How much control do you feel you have over your characters?
I can wrangle when I need to but they do feel like independent little critters in my head. Writing for me tends to be me transcribing the movie I'm watching in my head while muttering, "OHMYGOD Hannah are you seriously going to say that? What is wrong with you?" Or "Reeve. Reeve. REEVE NO."
Do you enjoy people asking questions about your characters?
OMFG YES. Please give me any excuse to talk about these guys.
On Writeblr Engagement
What makes you want to follow another Writeblr account?
If I jive with their WIP concepts or they have interesting OCs. Fantasy or sci-fi elements. Queerness. I'm more likely to follow if their intro has something about wanting to connect writers who are looking to hype each other up because that is what I am also looking for.
What makes you decide against following?
If their blog is full of hateful stuff or just super negative.
Do you interact with non-mutuals often?
Sure! I'm new enough to Tumblr that the lore of mutuals and non-mutuals hasn't rooted in my brain enough for me to super know which is which in my feed except for my small core group of moots I talk to regularly. So I interact with whatever posts catch my attention, moot or not.
Do your mutuals’ characters occupy space in your noodle?
OHMYGODYES. There is a little mobile of characters and animals (a fish and some frogs) that dangles over my little brain threatening to distract me at all times.
I'll no-pressure tag some of my beloved moots here that I haven't seen recently tagged with this: @scribe-of-stories @words-after-midnight @pandoras-comment-box @revenantlore
@void-botanist @covenscribe And of course, anyone else who wants to do it!
You can find the clean question template here

hi everyone!! this is going to be a very simple introduction; depending on how this goes i might get fancy and do something nicer in the future!
this is my second or third time trying to create a space for myself in the writeblr community. both times i failed because consistency is hard. but i’d like to put myself out there and make friends with other writers, so i’m giving it another shot!
about me.
i’m nineteen years old and pursuing a ba degree in english literature! i have absolutely no idea what i want to do after that… if i had it my way i would simply spin my favorite characters around in my head for a living but i’ve been told that’s not how it works. :(
i enjoy reading a variety of genres, including literary fiction, horror, and post-apocalypse!
my top favorite books are: the stand by stephen king, frankenstein by mary shelley, and the kite runner by khaled hosseini. (yes, they are wildly different stories, but they all hold a very special place in my heart. <3)
my writing.
so. confession time. i am a fanfiction writer. i know how that sounds, but don’t scroll away just yet! i put a lot of care and effort into my work to make it accessible and enjoyable for everyone; so even if you aren’t in any of the fandoms i write about, you will still be able to follow my work the way you would follow someone’s original novel. all of my work is a study of canon storylines, settings and characters, but i try to present it in a way that does not assume the reader has any prior knowledge of the source. (and if you do, you get to enjoy the little easter eggs hehe.) there’s something for everyone, i promise! <3
generally speaking, i enjoy writing in the same genres that i read! i write a lot of horror and post-apocalypse, but overall i am trying to develop a more literary style. my work tends to focus on anti-heroes and their super dysfunctional relationships. and lots of my favorite characters are queer-coded!
i want to venture into writing original fiction one day, so you can look forward to that!
my wips.
i only have one active wip at the moment, so that’s what i’m going to talk about here. i might introduce some of my future projects later if i’m able to get this blog off the ground!
the book i’m currently working on is a five nights at freddy’s fanfiction suburban horror novel. it doesn’t have a title yet, because i am notoriously indecisive and i haven’t found one that fits, so until i figure that out, i’ll be using temporary tags and referring to it vaguely as ‘my michael novel.’
the story features an unreliable narrator, sketchy family entertainment restaurants, and lots of paranormal activity!
summary:
michael afton is miserable. living alone in a crappy apartment, unable to hold down a steady job, and haunted by nightmares of a tragic event in his past, he starts to suspect that things will never get better. but then, his estranged father reaches out to him with an unexpected and cryptic offer, asking him to return to his hometown and take a job as a maintenance technician at an animatronic rental facility. though he is unhappy about returning to the town where he grew up, michael dutifully follows these instructions, convinced that rekindling a relationship with his father is the key to turning his life around. however, he quickly realizes things in the facility aren’t what they seem. something sinister is hidden inside those walls, and it’s putting michael’s life on the line. in order to discover the truth about his father—and, eventually, to make things right—michael has to come to terms with his own past mistakes.
it’s not a fantastic summary; i’ll probably rework it soon, and hopefully i will have an entire wip intro to share at some point!
aaand that’s pretty much it! if you’re interested in interacting with me at all, please don’t be afraid to reach out! i am always open to chat, especially about your wips—and feel free to include me in dash games, too! i want to interact with people as much as possible, to build a little space for myself on here with some new friends, and have fun. <3
i hope you enjoy my little corner of writeblr!

Writeblr intro (finally)
I feel like I've been saying I'll do this for a week and never actually end up doing it because I'm never on tumblr on my laptop. Anyway.
Hello, I'm Chief, I write under TC Smith, and I am (as far as I know) not a cat. People are prone to mispronouncing and/or misspelling my real name including my last name containing all of two letters. This is a phenomenon that confuses me to this day because my name (which is Mandarin pinyin) is phonetic and is pronounced exactly how it's spelled.
I graduated from uni with a criminology degree, but in classic disappointment Asian kid fashion I am trying to make a career out of freelance art & writing instead of the official qualification that says I can criminology the crimes. Unfortunately it also seems that nobody including me understands what this degree actually does, because every time I said I was studying criminology the response has been something to the effect of "oh I better make sure I don't do anything bad around you." It's okay, I'm not a cop.
Tumblr media
Here is an art I drew for pride month to break up the text wall. As you can see I draw art badly and I think that my angry werewolf man looks great in hot pink.
My favourite hobby is not writing. I like to indulge in this hobby by spending way too many hours trying to 100% BOTW and crafting grandmaster witcher gear in Witcher 3, but I could be persuaded to take a break from such activities to not write in other ways instead. One such way is to procrastinate on tumblr or make pretty graphics and/or art for my book.
My characters live in my head rent free 24/7. I'm sorry if you ever get sick of me drawing and/or yelling about them. I try to keep fandom content on my art main @the-chiefster but I can and will forget which blog I'm using before I hit the post button.
I have a book releasing in April 2024. I may end up pushing the release date forward because in true autism/ADHD fashion I like to plan things out with so much room for error that you could fit an entire second plan in the empty space, and then NOT follow the plan that I made at all because I'm too impatient.
That's it from me since I have now exhausted my knowledge of things to put in an intro. Song of the Wolf is my debut and comes out either next April or this December (probably December). As always I am looking for more writeblrs to follow & interact with even though I'm an introvert. If I don't follow you back on this handle it's probably because I'm following you as @the-chiefster which is my main blog for art & fandom stuff. Congrats on making it to the end of this text wall, have a cookie 🍪

Hello, Writeblr...
It's occurred to me lately that I have never written a writeblr intro. I should probably do that.
Hello there, my gorgeous readers.
I am a non-binary autistic author in a queerplatonic polycule with two lovely trans ladies, whom I nickname as "Beloved" and "Adorable" for reasons of privacy. I frequently battle with chronic bronchial asthma every spring and autumn - aka "Sneezin' and Wheezin' Season."
Sharing my primary residence are: two progeny [Chaos and Mayhem] and two cats [Pippi and Jolie], the felines might be turning up on my flash fiction streams on Twitch [ https://www.twitch.tv/bitzerk ].
I use the pen-name C. M. Weller and I have been writing stories since I became aware that I could do that. I've been writing flash fictions every day since 2013 as both mental exercise and "advertising budget". Like the short ones? Maybe go look at the novels and see if they're your flavour too!
If you want just my stories, you might want to follow my stories-only sideblog: https://cmweller.tumblr.com/ [I might accidentally reblog a thing or two over there] and if you want to find out all the other stuff I've done, then my hub site is: https://www.internutter.org
It's also where you'll find out where else I put my literary offerings, just in case this hellsite self-immolates.
Now the big news:
I am trying to go Pro with my writing. I have a lot of finished novels and one unfinished --logy [currently on quadrilogy, might extend into pentology] that I will be throwing at agents and publishers in the sincere hopes of seeing my pen name in bookshops one day.
(And, for the record, this is the most terrifying thing I have ever done)
My ask boxes are open. And I am taking the risk of allowing Anons.

Hi, I'm writing a serialized novel about how two people in love get separated by an apocalypse, but find each other against all odds, 200 years later! The full WIP intro is here, but here's a snippet that might well become the opening scene, featuring one of the protagonists' diary.
Other writeblrs, if you see this, please share your stories too!

Fate is Just the Half of It
To whoever finds this: hope humans still know how to read
October 23, 2077 (wait, is it 24th already? hard to keep track of time here; nah, couldn’t have been here more than ten hours)
Personal panic room of the Triumvirate Inc. CEO (wow, no, that’s so douchey)
ground zero, day one
Are you fucking kidding me?
Yeah, how’s that for a first line? Well, it was gonna be my last. Not bad as famous last words go, but there wasn’t anyone nearby to take it down, so I figured I’d stick around. Shame to die without an audience and let a good line go to waste.
The mushroom cloud in my window made for one hell of a backdrop, though. The oranges and the blacks, all swirling together, like a sunrise, but more badass. Except, you know, sunrises usually signify beginnings, whereas this one… yeah. Still pretty, though. And you thought there were no upsides to being in the office at 6 a.m.
It wasn’t a total surprise. Like, I couldn’t actually believe it till I saw it—hell, I don’t think I believe it now, even. But I knew it was coming. Got a 30-minute warning like the rest of the city. Didn’t run for the hills like the rest of the city, though. ‘Cause there weren’t any hills I cared to run for. None I could reach in half an hour, anyway.
Okay, whoever’s reading this, I don’t expect you’ll ever get a say in designing a nuclear strike early warning system, but I’m gonna tell you this anyway. 30 minutes is a really, really shitty warning period. Not enough time to get anywhere you might wanna get to, and way too much time to think. To wish you were somewhere else. Like, say, a suburban two-bedroom with a Vac-Evac link. 30 minutes to really appreciate what an idiot you were to stay at the office, stay in the city, stay optimistic, stay hopeful, stay invested in the idea that there was a shred of reason left in the collective humanity ‘cause c’mon, it’s all just talk, they’re not actually gonna do it, humans have scraps, always have done, always will have, but they’re NOT actually gonna blow up the fucking world, c’mon, what kind of FUCKING IDIOTS would actually, ACTUALLY do something like that??
Anyway. 30-minute warning is bullshit. Put that into your feedback form and smoke it.
still day one, probably
When the alarm went off, I knew that was it. Almost ran to the parking garage before it hit me that every other sad bastard in Boston was doing the same thing. I’d never make it to Havenford. I’d never make it out of the city. The best I could do out there was die in traffic. No, thanks.
I still tried to make a call, though. No luck. All lines jammed. Network access barred: emergency services only. Told myself it’s for the best. Didn’t wanna lie to him, didn’t want our last talk to turn into a fight. Least of all didn’t want him to try and do something stupid like coming to get me. Not that he’d ever make it. He’d just miss his evac and die for nothing. Wouldn’t stop him trying, though. Man has no quit in him.
Funny thing: normally, I don’t either. But knowing your whole world is gonna go to hell in, oh, twenty-five minutes now, and everything you’ve built is gonna go to pieces, and once the dust has settled, no-one will even remember your name… yeah, that’ll get a guy down a skosh.
So, yeah, the bit where I said that swearing at the mushroom cloud was gonna be the last thing I ever did? I meant it at the time. I wasn’t gonna run and die out there. But I wasn’t gonna hide and try to survive it, either. ‘Cause like I said, my world was about to get wiped out. And the only bit of it that stood a chance of making it through the next hour was gonna be out of my reach for good. Assuming he didn’t do something real fucking stupid.
Please tell me you didn’t. Please tell me you went to the evac as planned. For fuck’s sake, please tell me you took the train, and the lift and the whatever. Please be up there now.
So I waited. Smoked a cigarette. Yeah, yeah, I know, those things’ll kill ya. Made a real good cup of coffee with which to watch the show.
And then it happened. Right on time. And I just stared out of my window. Couldn’t bring myself to believe it.
And then I ran. So much for hanging on to hubris to the end. So much for going down with the ship. Call it animal instinct, call it good old-fashioned cowardice, call it whatever. Point is, I ran straight for the panic room. Didn’t even spill the coffee.
Good thing, too. The supply kits in here only have instant. In case you want proof that I never really believed it was gonna start raining nukes.
okay so every couple of weeks i have the thought 'wow people dont reblog writing like they used too anymore' and it's true but what's the point in having that thought and doing nothing to change it?
you all should reblog this post and share some of your writing or art or moodboards or fun facts off of it! give me something to look at and reblog!
even better, try and check out the notes once this gets spreading, and do the same!

Of Rust and Gold: Graza & Graza Palace
Tumblr media
Hi. Another one of these. Last one (a summary of some important characters) can be found here and main wip intro is here.
Of Rust and Gold is the first book in what I call The Saints Song Series. It’s a multi-pov low fantasy, court intrigue drama with romance and adventure elements.  It follows the stories of Argus and Leo. Prince and pirate respectfully, brought together by the plot of a stolen ship holding dangerous cargo and a secret that shakes what they know about their world.
Tumblr media
Built by King Didacus of house Espinar in 1150 for the new capital. Has since been rebuilt and remodeled hundreds of times for modern eras. Sits on a hill overlooking the city. It’s a large, bustling palace to fit a large and bustling city. It’s been home to hundreds of kings, has seen many days of construction, and by the 1780s stands as an amalgamation of the many changing eras. It’s been the busiest under the reign of King Frederick, as his marks the beginning of the humbling of the nobility and many of them have left their own estates to take up apartments at court out of necessity and to reach prominence safely under the king instead of partying favor and for their own greed in past eras.  At least, and perhaps during the slowest seasons, it houses a thousand people (not including the servants). The monarchs of Escan have no shortage of other homes and palaces, each new reign seems to begin with a showering of gifts usually including land, but those who tried to rule away from Graza often found themselves unsuccessful. Graza Palace is built for opulence and visitors have said it “thrives with all the jewels of the empire”, but it also strategically powerful. Since the beginning, Graza has been claimed as neutral ground among nobles in a country with a long history of internal strife. Since Escan no longer has a standing army, it’s proximity to Alda and the Order of the Knights is something to fear. They would stand in when soldiers can’t be found. And as the power of the noble class is at it’s weakest, true wealth and acclaim can be only found at the heart of the empire.
Tumblr media
Graza became the official capital of Escan in 1148 after a series of wars between several noble houses trying to capture the throne. At the time, Escan was very much divided and the nobility had most of the power, abiding mostly by the laws of their territories rather than falling under one king. Graza was a growing fishing village right on the coast of Escan. It was vulnerable to pirates and other criminals until Lady Sence, who was neither noble or in relation to anyone of importance cleaned the town. Thus, after the wars ended it seemed the perfect place for King Didacus to find neutral ground and build a palace.
Lady Sence is as much a mystery to her contemporaries as she is to modern historians. Once King Didacus stepped foot in Graza, it was said she came to greet him at the city gates (then made crudely of wood instead of fine iron and patterned stone). She knelt as a nobody and stood as an adviser to a king. They spent many years turning the city into something of worth, the first pair to even bring clean water (and to care about the public’s health) to the common people through pipes and public fountains. They strengthened the ports against enemies, increased trade, and were the first to start transforming Graza from a muddy fishing village to a beautiful city.
Now, in modern times it is the center of Escana culture. It's bustling with districts representative of the empire's claimed lands. The Rhine District, Kellish Corner, market streets, home to the city-homes of many noble families, the beautiful cathedral, and many trading warehouses. The city is largely populated, due mostly to expanding and swallowing up nearby villages and towns.
The docks of Graza are also famous and no longer fear pirates. Graza is located right next to Alda stronghold, the headquarters for the Escana fraction of the Order of the Knights.
Grazans also pride themselves on the way they speak Escan. It’s been praised as a beautiful language and the Grazan accent, especially the one spoken at court, is often the one people have in mind when thinking of the Escana. Grazans tend to speak faster than most who speak Escan, they’ll take few pauses between their words. What some also find a bit irritating is the fact that many Escana words are spelled differently in Graza than they are in other places. In 1347, when writing edicts a scholar decided some words weren’t aesthetically pleasing enough and so spelling and thus pronunciations were changed. Despite this, the words (most only exchanging two or three letters) mean the same thing as their previous form and modern Grazans switch back and forth between them. They commonly stress consonants powerfully which keeps their speech quite clear and understandable. They are inclined to produce sharp sounds and tend instinctively put a vowel at the end. Grazans speak with a spefific rhythm and are inclined to speak with it even in other languages.

An introduction to your author (aka yours truly) (yes, again)
Hello everyone !
Nothing new under the sun- I just decided, after much thoughts, that switching my main and secondary blog would be easier moving forward. The writeblog is now the main one, retitled L’antre des Merveilles for the occasion, and all the reblogs will be done on @swift-perseides !
I won’t be deleting all the reblogs that were already done here (24k posts, I’m not crazy-), but I will be deleting the posts already done on the sideblog to repost them here, no panic- and everything writeblr-related will continue here ! (People will finaly be able to send asks, yeheeee)
I will be handling all the modifications tonight, but in the meantime, enjoy the repost of my writer intro~!
XxX
Hello everyone!
About me:
I’m Maz, a trans man writer, who decided to finally jump the shark and share with other fellow writers and people in general the world I’ve created and wish to publish one day!
I mainly write fantasy stories filled with drama and angst before the happy ending (the joy of being a big softie who always NEEDS a happy ending AND a lover of whump), with magic oddly terrifying, focus on relationships (romance yes, but platonic, friendship, family, and more !) court intrigues, adventures, and families found in the most unlikely of places- all of that queer (in general, so long as I haven’t say it EXPLICITELY, just assume all my characters are queer :”D)
I have been on Tumblr for a while, but I’d love to meet new friends and people to discuss with here! ^u^
I’ll be posting wips, drabbles, maybe some longer texts, and probably lots of worldbuilding stuff (bc I love those too much lmao).
My ask box is ALWAYS open for asks of any kinds (questions on characters, in general, worldbuilding or other advice, etc- as long as everybody is respectful), tag games, ask-games, and any events that might happen in the writeblr community any day of the week ! Coming to talk about your OCs or work is okay as well too!
Probably important to note- English isn’t my main language, and with school kicking in I might not be active 24h/24 or everyday, but I’ll do my best!
My reblog blog: https://www.tumblr.com/swift-perseides
About my work :
- Breaking the Wheel- The Chronicles of Havren (coming-of-age series, queer main characters and representation, magic is a dangerous thing, found family, deals with hard topics such as abusive familes and abusive dynamics, cycle of abuse, torture, grief)
Did anybody ever wondered, in our beloved stories of worlds ravaged by epic wars between monstruous, terrifying beings against mighty and glorious heroes, what might be taking place away from the battlefield ?
On the continent of Havren, it’s what the latest generation of the 10 royal families of the realm are about to find out: their parents bound by the ancestral Serment of Ashaara to defeat the apocalyptic threat of the Veil, it’s to the faraway queendom of Litespes, reputed as the most secure land on the continent by its sovereign, that children and teens are send to grow up in complete safety- whether they want it or not, not a matter for them to decide.
King Consort, Princess, Knight and Healer respectively, Kazan, Aboaleyne, Becca and Llyr might have never set a foot on the battlefield, Life is far from having been kind to them either- to be honest, at the rate things are going, life isn’t going to last that long for them anyway before they let their souls destroyed by their own demons.
But what to make of it, when Fate throw the whole game upside down, and put those 4 adults, with nothing in common than parenthood, to meet...alongside the royal heirs, as lost, wounded and abandonned than them? Can adults and children let the past keep on carrying on their life, or will these years away from their realms give a far more greater solace to such uncanny group than any of them would have ever anticipated?
The end of an era is near for Havren- but the massive changes that will bring this new dawn might not come from the glorious deeds of our warriors monarchs like we’re all anticipating...
I suppose that’s it! I hope you all have a good day ! ouo/

do you have any tips on how to start a writeblr, specifically how to meet more people and make some cool mutuals? :D i wanna start a writeblr but i don’t know anyone from the community and i feel like it’s not as fun without friends :(
ok so hey, first of all, i’m not good at articulating my thoughts well but here it goes -- there isn’t any one way to start a writeblr. when i’d started mine, i lounged around idly for a couple of months reblogging things from other writeblrs. when i finally mustered up wits to post an intro, some writeblrs reblogged and boosted it so that’s how many people found my blog. but like, at the beginning, i was clueless enough (don’t you dare laugh) to ask @semblanche what a taglist was because i was confused about why everyone was asking to be on it. so yeah. i’m gonna jot down a couple of things you should do if you want to like join the community under the cut since this is getting too long and you should all be saved from making the same mistakes i made at the start. and of course, some tips on networking around the community and finding new mutuals!
1. make an intro post. so the one thing i’ve learnt after changing blogs twice is, make an intro post you are satisfied with. it can be simple one, a text post where you use the header option to announce your writeblr (ex. if i were to make an intro, i’d say kalki’s writeblr) and then i’d put in my name, the kind of stuff i like to read, the kind of stuff i like to write and the wips i am writing. point is, it should be something you like, something that tells something about you. like the first time i did this, my intro said: this girl doesn’t know what she’s doing. the second time: she’s being too pretentious, move on people. so on and so forth. some people prefer using fancy images (i am some people) to introduce their blogs with an image post instead, but you’re fine with or without. one thing you should keep in mind is to like tag a few of your favorite blogs. i didn’t do this the first time round because i wasn’t sure what exactly i was doing but you should all know that if you tag your favorite blogs, then those blogs will (mostly, sometimes mentions mess up like it does with me and tumblr doesn’t notify you about being tagged) definitely reblog and boost it. that way, a lot of people will, if not engage with you, then at least know of your existence. here’s my intro post for this blog, if you want. it’s not very, um, formal because i was sleepy and thought it was funny.
2. don’t be discouraged by the amount of notes on your intro. listen, i know we’d all feel bad if we had like 7 likes and 2 reblogs alright but don’t be discouraged. i mean now that i go back, my intro post has only about 36 notes. it really just depends on the timing. however, when you start posting content, those 10 people who’ve interacted with your post will like it and will reblog it for everyone to see and when people start seeing your content, they get interested and slowly, you’ll have more people to interact with and more people will discover your content and i think what i’m trying to say is that, the note count does matter but don’t be discouraged if it isn’t enough. it’ll take time but you’ll find a solid footing really soon, writeblr’s a really warm engaging place minus the anon hate people get sometimes. (see: @inheriting. all queen elle did was breathe, guys.)
3. interact with other people and their content. so yes. it’s not a one side deal. if you want people to find your blog, you’ll have to start looking for more content too. when you see something good, reblog it or comment on it or even send an ask telling them it’s god tier content. that stuff makes up half the amount of serotonin in our brains. seriously. there’s nothing writers like more than people reblogging their posts with incoherent screaming or coming into their asks to tell them something they think is funny. you could even post something like: hey, i’m a new writeblr and i’m looking for content like (enter the genres or tropes you prefer) and if you have wips similar to this, then pls reblog this with their tags. i wanna start engaging more. something like that. yeah.
4. message other writeblrs? ok so this is a thing that i would not recommend doing ONLY because sometimes everything gets lost in my notifs and i don’t see messages for days and i know other writeblrs probably face this too. tumblr automatically reads them and doesn’t lmk and stuff like that. and secondly, most of us don’t really, like, answer dms all the time. sometimes i got something important to say so i’ll go to minnie @medusaswrites or to chel @starshots and scream about it and then when the topic of conversation closes, and it gets awkward (i do this so many times you don’t even know) we go back to ghosting private messages and instead blasting each other’s ask boxes with love. that’s just how this stuff works. but there are plenty of writeblrs who aren’t awkward with private messaging and they will LOVE to talk to you so there’s also that. honestly, i don’t know where i’m going with this so i’ll stop now.
5. graphics and other things. ok so the main part, and the most important part, about a writeblr blog is the writing. so you’re a good writer, you’re a great writer. that’s not all though. sometimes you need to organize your blog. you use coded tags like tags for a particular character (say, my character tag for katya is oc: katya) and tags for a particular wip and inspo tags, resources tags, aesthetic tags, etc. this helps you organize your blog better. and finally, look, i know most people can’t do photoshop, either because it’s too expensive or too complicated and i get it. photoshop isn’t required honestly, there are tons of other things you can use. what mostly attracts attention is how attractive a blog can be. the layout for your blog for one. the picspam for your wip intro. that sort of thing. they are a couple of apps on phone that are free to use like picsart and canva (it’s on web too and honestly, the one thing you should use. it’s not like photoshop but it does the job and it does the job really well. if you want to ask someone about canva, you should go to raye @vigilantscar. she isn’t a writeblr but she’s good in that department.) also, if you’ve got something to ask about layouts or simple intro post demos and arrangement or the kind of pictures you should choose for them then slide into my dms, i’ll be happy to help.
i think that’s all? like true, writeblr isn’t fun without friends but this community is so nice and open that anyone can join anytime and you’d feel welcome. i also feel like i’ve not been able to get a few points across without sounding ignorant/awkward? or like i might have forgotten a few things? but honestly, i just woke up. also, i’m gonna tag a few blogs here that you should check out for good content in no particular order: @starshots @medusaswrites @carumens @vandorens @liarede @aelenko @inesnenci @kiesinger @medeaes @noloumna @emdrabbles and @inheriting. there are tons of other writeblrs with good content that i’m pretty sure i, with the memory of a goldfish, forgot to mention but. yeah. if you ever get round to posting an intro, tag me! i’ll be happy to interact!

Hi @northernrose!
Main WIPs (Coles notes, barebones versions):
The Fairy Tales of Ella and Meline, a lesbian fantasy romance about two tiny fairies and their mostly upbeat lives together. More a series of connected stories within the same narrative than one adventure. Character-driven, with some individual stories being plot-driven. Some intense action here and there, but no gore or erotic scenes. Suitable for all audiences. Currently posting the rough drafts on here, will announce down the road when I publish online elsewhere.
The Hollowed Wrecks of Hallowed Shrines, an epic fantasy story recounting the great adventure Ella undertook in her youth, and the beginning of her spiritual journey as she dealt with the wounds her travels inflicted on her. Have only finished the first draft, will probably try and publish the final version in the next year or two.
Yes, I like being tagged in games!
@writingamongther0ses and @pluttskutt seem like they’d both be up your alley if you haven’t checked them out already.
So since I’m trying to get back into writing again, and I’ve just realized how out of the loop I am on Writeblr while trying (and failing) to figure out who to tag in that tag game!
Writeblrs! Reblog this and tell me:
•A little about your main wip(s) and /or characters. If you want and you have one, you can just send me your wip intro, or you can thpe out a big long rant about it, or you can just type a couple of sentences. Whatever works for you!
•Whether or not you like to be tagged in tag games
•Any other writeblrs you would recommend if you can think of any!! I’m specifically looking for people who write fantasy and romance, and I sometimes like interesting science fiction stuff too!!

an intro post
I’ve had this blog for what feels like forty-seven years but haven’t really put in much of an effort to make friends ‘round these parts, so... hello, everyone.
My name is Anna and I have been on this godforsaken hellsite for over ten years now (I am a tumblr old), but I’ve only been (rather poorly) trying my hand at this whole writeblr thing since mid-2016. Much like my past posts here, I am inconsistent as heck when it comes to actually writing/finishing anything, but such is life.
I got my intro to writing in any serious way thanks to Camp NaNoWriMo back in 2011, when I pantsed my way into finishing a whole fantasy novel that August. Since then, I’ve rewritten that fantasy novel, written some YA stuff, written a whole bunch of fanfiction, and also written a bunch of self-indulgent romantic nonsense (because the whole point of this thing is to have fun, right?). I have completed but a small fraction of those things, which is why one of my 2020 goals is to actually finish a writing project for once.
I am supposedly an adult (not sure who let that happen) and I have both a BA in anthropology and a BSBA in accounting, though I originally started as a fiction writing major before I concluded that majoring in writing was killing my desire to actually do it and figured out that I had way more fun talking about how and why we use language and assign meaning to things than I did going through assignments where I had to kill my darlings (tl;dr: I was a linguistic anthropology concentration in college and I hate editing my own writing).
Long-term writing goals include the following: rewrite that first fantasy novel again (now that I feel even the slightest bit qualified to actually turn it into something good), rewrite/complete that YA series that I’ve been promising to my few Wattpad followers for like... eight years now, complete the fantasy novel that I’m currently working on in such a way where I actually feel even vaguely proud of it, finish all those WIP fanfics that have been sitting around forever, and maybe, just maybe, publish a book someday. Hitting two million NaNo-related words eventually would be pretty cool too (I hit one million in November of 2019).
Outside of writing, I quite enjoy reading (shocking, right?), especially fantasy and historical fiction. Tamora Pierce is my favorite author, though I quite adore His Dark Materials as well. I play four instruments (flute, guitar, piano, and ukulele), and I own a horse and have been riding for over fifteen years (so if anyone has questions about horse things, I’m not the worst person to ask and am happy to answer). I work in finance (after an almost two-year stint as an auditor at a public accounting firm, which absolutely stripped me of my creative energy and desire to write which I am only just rediscovering), but my pipe dream is that I can one day make a living writing books and retraining/selling off-track Thoroughbreds whilst living on a farm out in the middle of nowhere. We’ll see how that one winds up working out.
I can’t say exactly what I’ll be posting on this blog moving forward, but if I had to guess, it’ll probably be some combination of discussions about worldbuilding, my characters, plot points that I’m finding particularly annoying, and excerpts of whatever I’m working on. I can’t promise any consistency in the genre of my projects, so don’t count on that. My hope is that if I actually find people to talk to on this side of the internet, it’ll force me to be more consistent in both writing and posting on here, but I really have no idea what’s going to happen.
I don’t follow a ton of writeblrs but I’d like to change that, so shoot me a like/reblog/message/ask/whatever and I’ll check your blog out (this is a sideblog, so I follow as acreatureofhope). In the meantime, I’m going to force myself to stop working on the map for my aforementioned current fantasy project and go take a shower/get a cup of tea so I can finish reading Spinning Silver. Who knows, maybe I’ll actually complete my Goodreads challenge this year (maybe I’ll start posting those updates over here too, just to hold myself accountable. We shall see).

Writeblr Intro!
Tumblr media
Hi! I’m Nikky^^
I technically made this writeblr in November, but I took a personal break after, so this is still newish. I am new to manning a writeblr, but I am not new to Tumblr.
I like watching crime shows, I read (obviously) and I have a currently 8 1/2 month old puppy that takes up most of my time. May, if there’s interest/if I feel like it, make a ‘pupblr’ or ‘dogblr’ intro for him... if you’d like posts about him. You have my word that he is adorable, if that sways you.
I’ll read most anything, but I have a soft spot for fantasy worlds and angsty plotlines (regardless on if it’s a happy ending or not), as you will tell from my writings.
I am known for writing too many things at one time and for putting them out kind of slow, but it’s just because I’m a little bit of a perfectionist with things I post! I have more wips than I’d like to admit and I’m not sure how to divide them (I have two worlds that are major features, but doesn’t follow one solid storyline, but multiple smaller ones within), but I’ll figure it out one day. Probably.
There will be a Masterlist of writings up in a couple days! (I’ve been debating if I want to add my short prompt fills to it or not... leaning towards no). I also need to make wip intros but idk how and I’m scared, but it’ll happen one day! I promise!
It would be nice to meet any fellow writeblrs out there!
I don’t follow nearly as many as I’d like. This, unfortunately, is a side blog because I did not know Tumblr as well as I thought I did when I made this blog, but it’s too late for me to delete this and go over so let’s just hope the Tumblr gods one day let me make this a main so I can follow/comment/like things. My main is @theashofwkm so if you get anything from there — it’s me.
Send an ask or message if you wanna be mutuals/friends!! It’d be great to have fellow writing friends to chat with^^

Writeblr Positivity Week!
Tumblr media
(Ignore my heckin’ weird handwriting.)
I knooowwww this is super late but Quill got real busy this week with working on schoolwork and Nano so I didn’t have time to finish this up until now but!! Have this!!!
As a part of Writeblr Positivity Week, a lovely event hosted by the wondrous @pens-swords-stuff, I have put together:
A Selection of Quill’s Favourite WIPs and Writeblrs
(Because there is absolutely No Way I could show all of them, and this is already super long so under the cut we go~)
Tumblr media
@lady-redshield-writes: Not only a wonderfully supportive icon of the writeblr community, who always leaves marvelously inspiring and insightful comments on original content that gives me and undeniably many others so much more motivation to write, but Lady Red is also such a heckin’ inspirationally SKILLED WRITER. IT’S HECKIN’ AMAZING. Her characters! Her description! The amount of personality in her dialogue and just how engaging her worldbuilding and created atmospheres are, but the EMOTION. THE EMOTION. GOOOO read something of hers and you’ll instantly know what I mean---good luck getting through not completely overwhelmed with feeling!
And Miles to Go Before I Sleep: Humans are the size of insects, warriors ride dragonflies into battle, and an eldritch god-ant rules with absolute power.
Symphony Number Five: Evka Sekerak, composer and musician, directs the Teplirov Symphony, and is commissioned to write her fifth symphony by the military officials who keep her city captive.
@waterfallwritings: HECK MATE. JASON. DUDE. WHERE DO I START? YOU’VE BEEN TOSSING COMPLIMENTS MY WAY ALL DAY WHAT. But seriously though, this kid is best. Best Friendo of the Quill. Jason is hugely supportive throughout my writing and throughout my real life since I met him, and his own writing is basically the main inspiration behind why OSS even exists in the first place. We’ve had absolutely so much fun reading through each others’ works and joking around, and talking with him has helped me to discover and develop so many things about my own wip. Not only that but!! His writing is marvelous. His characters are all so fun in their own ways, and I’ve loved watching as they’ve developed to such three dimensional personalities in a story full of epic adventure and intrigue!
A Selkie’s Home: After a storm and a shipwreck, a selkie missing her skin, a triton disguised as a human, a morally questionable sea witch, and a hapless lover of the ocean end up on the same island. When the selkie is kidnapped, the remaining three have to form an unlikely alliance to get her back.
@bookenders: ENDERS IS A REAL DARN NEAT PERSON OKAY. She is the cool 🌵 friend!! She’s a wondrously creative and kind person, and so much fun to talk to! Her STS asks are always so interesting to answer and I just. And I! Just! Love! Her writing oh my stars it’s the best thing ever. Her characters are always so relatable and lovable, with such wonderful personalities and are always so detailed that they feel like real people. She’s also the creator of several of my favourite characters (see: Fred from H2H and Ryan from FF). Her description is astounding, and the way she experiments with different formats and styles is so, SO inspiring, and she always does it in such a skillful way, that reads so nicely!
Heart to Heart: After a series of half-drownings in the lake near the small town of Lindsay, a strange woman appears on the shore, refusing to speak. The local apothecary is sent in to try and help, and now... they’re roommates?
Fish Food: Now assigned to facing the villains of the lowest threat levels after suffering severe losses from his fight against the supervillain Nightmare, Iron Will has to team up with the worst villain he’s ever seen to fend off the threat of a conspiracy that could destroy their world as they know it.
@abalonetea: OKAY FIRST. Amazingly supportive. Amazingly friendly and creative and an absolute delight to talk to! Katie is marvelous. Her art and her moodboards are so cool and so wonderfully fitting to her characters and stories. And her writing? Oh. Ohhh. Her writing is to die for. Her unique skill of manipulating different text formatting to match the emotion and thoughts of her narrative is just. Stellar, and sets her writing apart from anything I’ve read before. It’s so full of emotion, the way she writes dynamics is INSPIRATIONAL, and her worldbuilding is so wonderfully detailed and engaging. I just. I just LOVE. OKAY. I don’t normally ship characters but Red and Bolte will always be my favourite. And Katie’s message of hope being able to stick it through the worst of it is such a wonderfully motivational theme!
Groundhog Day: Two versions of the same classic rpg video game, one the gritty reboot of the other, glitch together, switching the games of one of the characters with his counterpart—Red and Blue. Now they have to try and find their ways back amidst the formation of friendship and family and the threat of a new war.
As Time Passes On: Two classic pirates form a precarious alliance to set out to find the Eighth Sea, and a device that can turn back time.
@livvywrites: I’ve only more recently been getting into Livvy’s works but. Wooooooow. WOW. Her writing is fantabulous. Her graphics are gorgeous. I LOVE her characters, so so much. They’re all so distinct in personality and backstory and situation, and the way they’re all involved in the story is marvelously fascinating. SPEAKING OF THE STORY THO. Livvy’s worldbuilding is???? SO IN DEPTH. It is the most deep worldbuilding for a magic type world I think I’ve yet to see on writeblr? I am sooo very excited to see how she integrates it into the plot! But also Livvy is an absolutely magnificent person all around and so supportive and creative and sooo fun to talk to. Love ya, darling~
The Martyr Queen: Alinora Mynerva is visited by one of Death's Reapers, and told she was never meant to exist. She is asked to become his Champion, to stop Fate from destroying the world. Alinora isn't sure she's willing to fight a god... but she is willing to fight the man who took her homeland from her 10 years ago.
Pirate’s Bane: [Quill legitimately can’t summarize this one in so short a space because it’s so delightfully complex, but it’s a brilliant continuation of the previous book above! Go click the link to read the synopsis on the intro post~]
@mvcreates: I’M SORRY FOR ALL THESE TAGS DEAR MINA BUT YOU DESERVE THEM. Probably just the most interactive person in the writeblr community, Mina’s events and ask games and onwards all are so wonderful, and her engagement with reblogging and commenting on people’s original content is inspirational. AND I’M SAYING IT FOR THE THOUSANDTH TIME BUT THAT DOESN’T DECREASE IT’S MEANING: heckin’ poetic like prose with how much symbolism she fits in there and how lovely it sounds to read aloud, wonderfully clever dialogue and banter and characterization, and characters you love to root for. And her ART. OH MY STARS HER ART. *swoons at majestic colours and shading and textures*
Retrocognition: An investigative journalist with a paranormal gift joins forces with a cantankerous federal agent to expose a Reno-based politician’s (murderous) corruption.
The Vizier’s Apprentice: An alternate universe retelling of a classic Persian love story: One Thousand and One Nights.
@dogwrites: Venturing into the world of Crime of Mind has only been a very recent endeavour of mine, and I’m only two episodes in at the moment, but gosh golly yarn darn it this story is MARVELOUS. Dog’s ability to write memorable characters with such distinct and identifiable personalities is lovely, their dialogue is wonderful and the body language and description is so heckin’ engaging, and puts you right in the scene with them. And Dog’s also a marvelous artist holy wow. NOT TO MENTION just how awesome Dog is as a person?? Heckin’ ridiculously nice, leaves such insightful and appreciated comments that charge me on. AH. JUST A LOVELY LOVELY THAT I HAD SUCH AN HONOUR OF MEETING. YES.
Crime of Mind:  Dr. Benji Russells, an autistic federal agent, is the youngest member of the Behavioral Analysis Unit, whose knack at viewing individuals and their behavioral chemtrails turned her into a viable asset---but delving into the minds of the country's most insidious leaves none unscathed in the end.
@ardawyn: OH. MASTER OF DESCRIPTION, HERE. All of Sophie’s writing feels like it could have been written in the world of the story itself despite being very clear and lovely to read, with a vaguely medieval vibe to it all that adds so much to the reading experience. The way she describes environments just puts you right into the scene with the characters, characters that are all written marvelously with beautifully lovable personalities and dialogue and dynamics. And her graphics? Oh, ohhhh. Sophie is probably my greatest inspiration for making graphics and aesthetics for writeblr. Every single one of hers are instantly eye-catching and fit the mood and theme sooo well. Plus, the comments she leaves on my content are just the sweetest thing, and always warm my heart when I read them. <3
The Dawnbringer: A niece of Issarien’s king, Tilda fights against the constricting expectations of her role, making it her mission to find her brother after his disappearance. Rajani is given rooms in the castle of the Prince of Hallrein after being caught stealing, offered a perilous deal she has no choice but to accept. But these two women are connected in an unknown way...
Night Crystals: Amaria was raised an assassin at the orphanage The Obsidian to serve the king of Calastari. But after discovering a secret, she must make the choice whether to stay and swallow lies, or seal her death sentence trying to leave.
@radley-writes: Although I haven’t interacted much yet with Radley, I’ve fallen completely in love with their writing and ideas. Their art is so lovely and professional and clean, and the body language and personality it portrays is marvelous. But their writing? Outrageously good, and brilliantly hilarious. I’ve mainly only been following His Majesty’s Starship so far, but the way that Radley is able to match the vocabulary and narrative to the time period of the story is so skillful and inspiring, and is absolutely wonderfully engaging by placing you right into the setting like it’s real. The integration of worldbuilding is done extraordinarily well and I am in love with all of the distinct personalities and dialogue of their wondrous cast of idiots.
His Majesty’s Starship: The Eurasian powers expand their empires to the furthest-flung reaches of the solar system – as well as their endless wars. As nations and companies vie for control of the Off-World Colonies , a trio of utter imbeciles come into possession of a secret that many would kill for. A secret that changes everything…
Tumblr media
Anywayssss there are sooo, so many more wips that I consider favourites of mine, and so many more writeblrs that I think are the absolute bomb, but Quill’s energy isn’t limitless!
That said, maybe I’ll make up a simpler post of a bunch of recommendations later... hm..........
ANYWAYS YEAH GO CHECK THESE LOVELIES OUT

Tumblr media
This is where the ‘write’ part of your writeblr really happens. Personally, I find this stuff scary. I think I waited three months before letting anyone see my writing, but when I did it was met with love. Be scared, but don’t let it stop you. Writeblr is a really welcoming community for the most part. If you want heavy interaction on any of the things listed below, you have to use your writeblr tags, and ideally you’ll have already had people interacting with some of the stuff you posted as suggested in the list of easy & slightly harder things.
Post snippets of your canon writing
Maybe you’ve just written three lines of dialogue that you find hilarious, or you wrote a few paragraphs you’re proud of. You’ve been talking about your writing, people have been getting to know your characters and little blips of the plot and worldbuilding, but maybe they haven’t actually gotten to see your writing yet! Post some of it. [example of a canon excerpt by @elliewritesstories here]
Post any of your writing at all, really
Got a little drabble? Slap it on up there. It doesn’t have to be a scene in the story, it doesn’t even have to be canon-compliant (but please let people know it’s not canon-compliant when you post it), just POST! YOUR! WRITING! I’ve seen a lot of people write AUs and post those [ @lux-scriptum has many AUs if you wanna go check those out]. These tend to get attention because they can be posted in full, instead of teasing little excerpts and snippets that usually get posted from canon work since the writer understandably wants to keep spoilers and stuff secret. Same as canon-noncompliant drabbles, let people KNOW that your AUs are AUs or else they might mistake it for canon. Don’t force yourself to write an AU just for interaction, though.
Make a WIP powerpoint
This was apparently started as a meme but it quickly evolved into a way that I think people really like getting acquainted with a WIP. It’s a bit like your WIP intro post in that people can reblog & interact, but has more detail, as well as images & colours which are more likely to attract a wider audience. WIP powerpoints tend to include a title page, a page about the setting, about the plot, fun worldbuilding facts, and characters. Some of them will have little “random facts” thing at the end, for any of those little bits that the author wants you to know but they couldn’t find space for in the other categories. Keep in mind when making your WIP powerpoint, the tumblr photo limit for photosets is ten, so fit it all into ten pages. You can really have fun and be silly with this, people don’t take it too seriously. Also, most people just use MS paint, I don’t know of many people out there really making their slides on powerpoint. [example of a WIP powerpoint by @raiswanson here, and another example of my own here, the title of the wip and several character names are different now but I still had a lot of fun making it]
Talk to writers
Hit up their inbox, send them a message about how you really liked that excerpt they posted, ask a question about their characters or how they came up with the idea for their story or whatever it is that you’re interested in knowing. I know it’s scary, we’re basically all socially anxious introverts here, but you have the potential to make really good friends this way. Not everyone will be down to talk, not every conversation will be big and exciting, not every big conversation will be followed up another, but there’s a chance some of your best writeblr buddies will be met this way. (Though, I’ll happily confess to always interacting publicly in ask games and responses to posts first, so I’m not a totally strange face appearing in their inbox)
Make advice posts about things you genuinely know about
Whatever it is you know well, post about it. Do you work with wolves? Do you study poisonous plants? Do you know a lot about the medical field and see a lot of writers making mistakes? Post about it. These make the rounds. I made a post about writing characters with disabilities in a moment of spite & anger expecting nothing but a couple likes, and it ended up being one of my biggest posts. I still see spikes in my follower count every time it gets a new burst of reblogs, and it’s been a while since I posted it.
Build a tag list
A tag list is a list that a writeblr compiles of URLs that have asked to be tagged in posts about the writeblr’s WIP(s). These posts include things like excerpts, aesthetic boards & art, writing updates (ex. If you rename your story or are ready for beta readers), and whatever the writer feels those on the list would appreciate. Sometimes when you start putting your writing up, people will ask to be added to your tag list without prompting. Of course, this won’t always be the case. There’s no shame in asking if people want alerts. It can be simple as:
I want to compile a proper tag list for (WIP NAME, ideally with a link to your wip page) so if you want to be tagged please interact with this post and I’ll tag you in future updates! Likes, reblogs, and comments will be counted as interaction and you’ll be added to the list.
Don’t get discouraged if nobody responds. This could be nothing more than a day that a lot of people are off tumblr and don’t see it. Try again another day (maybe at a different time of day).
Accept that it takes time
Oh yes, this is one of the hardest things to do. Building a solid following and getting a lot of interaction takes time. It takes time and effort and good connections and all this random stuff that’s basically out of your control, and I do believe a lot of it comes down to luck. It’s all luck that someone stumbles upon your blog, luck that someone notices you’re a regular in their notes, luck that a big writeblr reblogs your moodboard. Of course you can sort of nudge this luck with good post timing (queued and scheduled posts are your friend), with using your proper tags, and by being consistent in your interactions with other writeblrs, but ultimately it comes down to luck and timing and probably magic or something. I know it sucks, but you have to accept it or you’re going to take every single instance of low interaction as a personal failure instead of what it really was - luck simply not being on your side that time.
Just keep trying. You’ll get there, friend.
Main Navigation post
Part one: The Launching point
Part two: The Easy Things
Part three: The Slightly Harder Stuff
obligatory disclaimer: These are only suggestions for boosting writeblr interaction. Never post anything you’re uncomfortable posting. The levels of difficulty are subjective, based on what I found emotionally challenging.

AMANDAMADETHISUP’S WRITBLR INTRO
Hi, I’m Amanda (she/her), I’m a 22-year-old editor by day and writer by night, and I’m not new to Tumblr but I’m new to the writeblr side. Hi!
To start this blog off, I’m going to reblog stuff from my other blog @infernalandmortal, but I’ll be adding more about my two WIPs as we go along.
Some ‘about me’ stuff:
I’m really bad at talking about myself and I have a super sarcastic/self-depreciating sense of humor
I’m currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing. I have a BA in journalism, which I put to good use at my day job as a news editor
My favorite book ATM is @tazmuir‘s Gideon the Ninth; fave movie is Mad Max: Fury Road; fave TV show is The 100
My current WIPs: The Chaos Manifesto is an adult (new-adult skewed) post-apocalyptic science-fiction novel that an author I majorly respect has compared to Mad Max: Fury Road (happy freaking 22 birthday to me!!!), Rogue One and Emily St. John Mandel’s Station Eleven. I’ve been working on TCM since I was 12, and am in the final stages of revising it for querying.
We Didn’t Make This Up is my planned new-adult post-apocalyptic novel about journalism at the end of the world. I started outlining it in 2018 but it has been shelved until now. It’ll probably be my MFA thesis project.

Back from Hiatus / Re-Intro!
Hi, Writeblr! I’ve been away for a while, taking a break both from social networks and writing to take care of my mental health. It’s hard to be social or creative when depression hits. Right now, I’m happy to report I’m mostly out of that black hole and I can’t wait to delve back into my writing and to catch up with all your amazing WIPs.
Since my activity here had been dwindling down for some time before the hiatus, I thought I should do a small Re-Intro to remind people who the hell I even am. So here goes!
Who am I?
My name is Rachel, although I prefer going by Ray.
I’m 23, she/them pronouns, nonbinary, pansexual, and poly.
Depression and anxiety are my lifelong enemies.
I live on a farm with my mom, my step-dad, and my girlfriend, spending a lot of time around horses every day.
Stories are my passion. I love writing, I love reading, I love watching movies and tv, I love playing roleplaying games, and listening to the records of other people doing the same, and also to audiodramas and other types of podcasts, etc, etc, etc.
I also love videogames, but right now I don’t have the means to play most of them so I watch a lot of letsplays on Youtube instead.
My favorite genres are fantasy, romance, and soft horror.
My other hobbies include cross-stitch, cooking, long walks, people-watching, and watching aesthetic sports like figure skating and rhythmic gymnastics. Also, sometimes I can spend hours searching for pretty pictures that match my stories and making aesthetic boards.
I used to do ballet as a kid. I had to stop because of a chronic spine condition, but I still feel a big passion for this art and try to attend at least a couple ballet performances a year. In my next life, I’m going to be a dancer, and that’s final.
What am I working on?
I’ve got a bunch of WIPs that are Big and Important for me, but for now I’ve put them on hold. To get back into writing, I’ve decided to write something short and sweet and probably put it on Wattpad pretty soon to get some feedback.
So I’ve started a fantasy m/m romance that’s likely going to be more a novella than a novel.
It’s set in a small quaint town, so far nameless, located on the outskirts of a fantasy kingdom. The resident Witch has recently passed away under some very mysterious circumstances. Was it a murder? Did she get lost in the winter woods? Was she taken away by faeries? There’s a lot of speculation and rumor, but not enough facts.
The Witch’s nineteen-year-old apprentice, Alephis, is probably the one most shaken by this event. Phertha, the lost Witch, was like a mother to him. Also, she went missing days before she was supposed to conduct his Initiation. So he can’t even use magic to search for her. His Gift is still dormant. He’s got a lot of knowledge about various spells and rites, but no way to use them. All he’s got going for him in terms of magic are occasional vague prophetic dreams and being sometimes able to light a candle with his eyes (although using matches takes a lot less effort, to be honest).
At twenty-one, Mirwed has just graduated from the Royal Academy of Natural Witchcraft in the kingdom’s capital. As a son of an important noble, he was looking into a bright future as one of the Witches employed by the Royal Court. But his family has dreadfully fallen from grace with the royals because of his father’s machinations. Instead of being a magic-practicing courtier and politician, Mirwed is sent to a small town in the middle replacement as the replacement for the Witch who got mysteriously lost. From the very start, he dreads the prospect of spending the best years of his life brewing boring farming potions and setting peasants’ bones. But the townsfolk are friendly and welcoming, and there’s a strange mystery going on. Not to mention that there’s Alephis, being equal parts annoying and annoyingly cute.
This story is incredibly new, and I’m mostly pantsing it, so there’s still no title to speak of, even a working one, and there are plenty of details to work out. But I absolutely adore my main characters, and I’m so excited about writing about their journey. Stay tuned for more posts about it all! :)

Writeblr Changes aka The Blog Formerly Known as The Ollinshist
Sorry in advance for the long post- I have some things I really need to get off my chest!
So I’ve made some pretty big decisions in regards to both my writing and my writeblr. If you remember me as The Ollinshist, then you might remember my 2 WIPs. I’m basically deciding to put those aside, for now at least.
Farmboy Blues was a sci-fi detective neo-noir detective story. I didn’t have anything up for that other than a few asks regarding my MC for those short stories, Sunny Wyler.
From the Void was my YA cosmic/supernatural horror. I had some character profiles, chapter snippets, and an intro for it. It was cobbled up from many different ideas over the years and had gone through a drastic change right before I made this writeblr. It was basically a Frankenstein story, not that you’d know from looking at it lol. I love those characters to death. Kwin, Jonah, Gabi, Zig-Zag, Holly, Harlo, Bridger, Cal. They’re my babies. They weren't the problem. Basically, I had characters I loved, but I didn’t have a story for them. I had an idea, but nothing that excited me enough to actually work on it. I admit that it as probably because that massive genre change from sci-fi to supernatural horror. I had a different beast on my hand with no idea how to even visualize it properly.
After a lot of thinking, a lot of cigarettes and cups of coffee, I finally decided to set both those projects to the side. I pretty much had to.
Cause all that time, there was another WIP I’ve had on my mind and somewhat on paper for years, and that’s Frontiersman.
This concept really started way back when I was in the 4th grade. I remember sitting in my room late on a Friday night, alone(being pretty much an only child at that point). I was playing with my Dragon Ball action figures and watching the new DBZ episode on Toonami(simpler times). After that episode went off, a new show premiered. That show was Outlaw Star. That episode blew my mind and it was the moment I fell in love with sci-fi. It wasn’t Star Wars or Star Trek or Halo. It was this anime airing for the first time and it was awesome. The characters, the amazing art and environments and the lore just pulled me in and held me there.
I was a 9 year-old boy, following along these adventures in space with these characters I fell in love with and laughed with. The show was about Gene Starwind, an outlaw, and his partner, Jim. They traveled back and forth across the galaxy getting into all types of shit just trying to make a buck and gathered a small crew around them that I really friggin loved. It gave me something to look forward to every week when I’d stay up late on a Friday night and grab some popcorn in my big bean bag chair. I’ll admit, I was a lonely kid. Most of my happy childhood memories come from time spent with one or two friends I had because it meant I wasn't alone and I had somebody to talk to. But when I had Outlaw Star to watch, I forgot all about that and got sucked in for the 30 minutes it was on.
The show came to an end after 26 episodes, and the last shot of that finale haunts me to this day lol.
Tumblr media
I’m not gonna lie, while that show was on and I got to follow Gene, Jim, Suzuka, Aisha and Melfina on those adventures, I felt like a part of me was there with them. Not to be too melodramatic but watching that final shot sort of felt like the Outlaw Star was lifting off without me this time. I waited for years to hear anything about a second season, but of course it never came.
I said all that to say, what I did take from Outlaw Star was inspiration. From the 4th grade on I carried around these ideas in my head. My own characters going on their own adventures. It was only a matter of time before I started to write them down. That’s where the Frontiersman concept was really born. It’s been with me this whole time from 9 years old to 28 years old. It was with me in middle school when I lost my best friend and I had to find something to take my mind off the pain and sudden return to loneliness. It was with my when I spent three years away from home in a foreign country. And of course, it’s been here with me now.
I knew I wanted to write these stories in space. I knew I wanted to show people the same universe I’d been escaping to for as long as I could remember. So, while I was living in Germany, I started to fill notebooks with what I’d come up with already as my “universe bible”. I had galactic timelines, alien cultures, planets, systems, governments, religions all created for this universe and I went wild with my imagination in making this feel like a living breathing universe. My goal was to be able to pick a spot on this star map I’d made and come up with a good story to tell there. And one day, if others wanted to create new stories and characters in that universe, I’d have that encyclopedia to help them tell the stories they wanted to tell.
But of course, I never actually got around to writing those stories. My main excuse was “Oh, it’s not ready yet, I haven’t done enough world-building.”(How many times have people tried to tell us to avoid that trap smh) which was quickly followed by, “Well, I’m working on this book while I’m world-building Frontiersman in the background”. The problem was, none of those other WIPs ever worked out and I never felt fulfilled or satisfied because I wasn't actually writing what my heart was really calling for. But now that I am, I feel like I’m finally home.
So if you’re still reading this, thank you. I mean it, I really appreciate it! As far as those other WIPs, I know there’s at least one or two of my mutuals who really liked those, but I have to go with what I need, what I’ve been putting off for far too long. And I’m really sorry! But hey, Farmboy Blues is just on hiatus and who knows, in the midst of writing in the Frontiersman universe, those From the Void characters may actually find a home they deserve!
Until then, I’m going to kick Frontiersman into full gear and put it first on my priorities. I want to write a universe that people enjoy, that they feel like they can dive into and live in. I want you guys to get excited for new entires, to think about who you'd want to be in the Frontiersman universe. Where would go? What would you do? Frontiersman, at it’s core, about giving people a place to call home, inclusive and hopeful and just filled with mysteries and adventures that can take your mind off everything even for a little while. But it’s also about all those times I looked up at the night sky and wondered what was out there, all the times I wished there were other cities and space stations I could visit to just get away, for all the times I wished I could just hop in a ship and cross that blank space out there to find some adventure myself.
It’s about time I did that.
Special thanks to some writeblrs out there who inspire me- if not from your tips and support, then by your absolute love and excitement for your awesome WIPs: @the-violet-writer @ps-nippets @writerinafury @sad-witchy-writeblr @neirawrites you’re all pretty amazing. Thanks and keep it up!
