I don’t know if my body shape has changed but my family is under some weird assumption that I’ve gained a lot of weight or maybe they want me to? I’m finally at a healthy weight. I’ve struggled with this for years and don’t often talk about it but I was severely underweight for most of my life, due in part to my relationship with my mom who instilled some strong fears of food and weight gain and then it only got worse with my ex. I’ve worked hard to improve my relationship with food and in the years since I’ve gained a substantial amount and have started to drop some of my bad habits. Maybe it doesn’t show?
The point I’m making is that in clothes sizes I still wear a small. Mediums and larges especially in American sizing are all too big on me. But my extended family insists on only buying me larges. This feels like such a weird thing to complain about but it makes me feel weird? Like maybe I’m wrong and my brain is still in a bad spot about food and I do need to gain more? I finally eat two-three times a day instead of three times a week but this confusion over what size to buy me is really bugging me. Do they think I’m still too small and want me to grow to fill it out or am I wrong and all my current clothes are actually too tight and I’ve just convinced myself they’re not?

A Woman of No Importance: UnImportant People
Tumblr media
As it turns out I cannot write fake history without creating fake historical figures so below I will compose a list of historical figures by "type" mentioned in awoni so that I don't forget and I can scratch the itch in my brain that likes things to be cataloged in annoying ways. We'll start with
The Writers
Alexander van Neste : A poet most notable for his descriptions of landscapes and his close acquaintance with political figures. Most active in the 940s Ivo Túfel : A poet who wrote extensively about unrequited love and is suspected of having several scandalous affairs. Most active in the 920s before his execution in 926. Philibert de Luc : Wrote "The Secrets of Women" a book that outlines the inherent deceit and sinful nature based on his observations. Madame de Bellièvre : Wrote books full of early methods of contraceptives, abortifacients, etc. Suspected to be Isabeau de Bellièvre, Cierra's aunt and Notker's first love but neither mentions this part of her life. Christine di Pallo : Wrote " Handbook for Moral Women " a guide for soon-to-be brides to know how to conduct themselves in private and public circles and also a day-to-day guide on the expectations of "good" women. Giorgio Gritti : Wrote  “On The Burdens of Sovereignty” a series of intimate interviews and observations with princes and powerful men. A look into the lives and mentalities of rulers, although this writer was born half a century after the ones mentioned above. Harrye Throckmorton: Wrote "Two Noble Women" the first fictional account of the rivalry between Cierra de Bellièvre and Mathilde van Bibbr, a play that debuted in 1625.

But Who Will Take of God: Is this a holiday story? Only Technically.
Tumblr media
I did exactly what I said I was going to do and wrote a weird story for the holidays (although it only technically counts as a seasonal tale) This is just the first draft but I’m sharing it here because if you guys want to check it out that would be cool. It just kind of odd, unfortunately and is not fantasy. It also comes in at about 10k words so it won’t be the quickest read if you only have a moment.
You can check it out here!
It takes death to make Virgil, the heir to a lengthy and rich family legacy, realize he knew nothing about his father. Willing to overcome a strained relationship to puzzle together clues of his father’s life before he was born, he finds himself making friends with an old acquaintance and coming to terms with his own grievances with his father-son relationship.

Wolf Hall + Art Anne of Cleves by Bartholomaeus Bruyn the elder
The portrait was purchased in c.1734 by the then President and major benefactor of St John’s, William Holmes, for his private collection, and then acquired for the College by his successor as President, William Derham, in 1748. The sitter was only identified in print as Anne of Cleves as late as 1855, in J. W. Burgon’s Arms of the Colleges of Oxford. The date and authorship of the painting long remained debatable. Following major conservation work on the portrait in 1989/90, the conservator Candy Kuhl and the then Keeper of Pictures at St John’s, Professor Peter Hacker, persuasively argued in the Burlington Magazine for the date in the 1530s at the court of Cleves, before Anne came to England to marry Henry.
