scenario 1 ♡

you’d drawn on the walls as a ploy for attention. JJ has been so busy with work recently and then Will has been poorly.

you finished up your artwork and smiled before running off giggling. until you heard your dada speak up a little while later.

“little one, what is this?” will asked, pointing to your artwork. "my drawing dada, no like it?" "why is it on the walls? in pen?" "no paper dada." "why didn't you ask?" you lowered your head. you tried to ask but got no response from your sleeping caregiver. he sighed and bent down in front of you. "I'm sorry dada has been sick but you can't be drawing on the walls." "no other way for wo to see me," you mumbled, playing with your nails. "little one, dada always sees you. come here."

he pulled you into his arms and held you close against his chest. you heard his heart beating and it relaxed you a lot, a nice, slow steady rhythm. you apologised and so did he and together, you began cleaning the wall before Mama got home.

scenario 2 ♡

you swear for the first time in front of your new caregivers.

you were only playing. it was a tea party and you were so excited to have your friends (many teddies) around to join in. however, it was all going to plan until you knocked the orange juice, you'd been kindly given, all over the table. "shit!" you shouted and stood up as the juice began spreading all over your teddies. both your caregivers froze at the language and didn't rush to help as the juice got onto a few of your teddies. "shit shit shit!" you cried out and pulled them away, throwing them away from the juice. "excuse me," your mama said. you froze. your dada began cleaning up the juice with towels but you sheepishly looked at your mama. you'd only just realised what you had said. "we don't use that language in this house kiddo, no matter the situation." "I sorry mama," you whispered, lowering your head. "I don't want it to happen again, understood?" "understood mama, I'm sorry." "come on, let's go wash your teddies," she said, a smile back on her face. she wasn't angry or upset, you'd apologised and it was time to move on. you grabbed her hand and a messy teddy under your arm and headed to the laundry room.

scenario 3 ♡

you were overwhelmed and angry and lashed out physically hitting your dada

you hit him quickly, he didn’t even notice your hand flying towards you until it collided with his chest. jj was up suddenly and grabbed you around your waist, holding you. you cried out, angry and upset and so full of too many emotions.

“whoa whoa little one.’ your whispered. she wrapped her arms around your torso and held you tightly against her chest. “we don’t hit.” she reminded you. her voice was stern but had a soft edge to it. you whimpered, too many emotions swirled around your head and you wanted to curl up.

you turned in her chest and buried your head in her. “mamas got you,” she told you softly. she began to rock you and you felt the emotions dissipate.

your dada came over and sat by jj and you. he ran his fingers through your hair. “hey kiddo. we need to remember to use our big kid words and not our mean hands, hm?” you nodded in agreement.

“sorry dada,” you whispered.

PLEASE CONSIDER FOR ME:

Half the BAU are hard of hearing after all the explosions they've gotten caught in. Reid, Garcia, Prentiss, and Hotch are all autistic and occasionally go non-verbal. They all know and use ASL frequently. JJ and Garcia are the only two without much hearing loss and often translate what others are saying for their teammates. JJ signs in all her press releases/media appearances. Everyone keeps noise-cancelling headphones, aac books, and a few different things they know are comfort/regulatory items for their teammates in their go bags. The plane is stocked with weighted blankets and sensory friendly snacks at all times. After especially long amd/or hard cases, they all stay at Rossi's house for a few nights and eventually, they all kinda just end up with their own rooms there even if they almost always end up the living room to cuddle. (Rossi pretends to be annoyed but they all know that he actually loves to have them there.) Rossi often comes home to find one or more of his teammates just hanging out in his house even though he could swear that he never gave any of them a key. (They'll often come to his house if they're having a bad day. The most frequent perpetrators of this are Reid and Prentiss. Spencer picks the locks and Emily jimmies her way in through a window. Garcia made a copy of his key the one time he asked her to water his plants while they were away on a case, Morgan kept breaking the door down until Rossi started leaving random doors unlocked for him and a note with which door was unlocked for him that day under a rock by the front door after having to replace said door four times, Hotch does actually have a key that Dave gave him, but more often than not he'll just knock and then wait patiently on the porch swing for Rossi to get home and let him in even though Rossi always insists 'you have a key, Aaron, you know you're more than welcome to use it and just come in', JJ usually calls first and he'll tell her whatever door he'd left unlocked In Case of Morgan, and you may be wondering, why doesn't he just give all of them keys after this happens a few times? And to that I say, what, and deprive them of their fun? Come on.)

When they stay at Rossi's house after a long/hard case, JJ calls Will as soon as they're on the ground and he meets them there with the boys. Hotch calls his sister (or whoever he's got watching Jack) and she'll meet then there with Jack. Rossi cooks them all dinner and once everyone else has gone to bed, he sits in the living room, sipping on a glass of wine (or scotch, depending on the case), and waits. One by one, the others shuffle into the living room.

Reid is usually first, trudging into the room rubbing his eyes (its adorable, but dont tell anyone Rossi thinks that, he has an image to maintain) and he'll curl up impossibly small on the couch next to Rossi and put his head in the older man's lap. Rossi will run his hands through Spencer's hair and hum quietly. Garcia comes next, wrapped in a long, silky robe that billows as she moves because it's dramatic and she loves it, and she'll slip onto the other end of the couch to lay her head on the arm as Reid stretched out just enough to brush the soles of his feet against her thigh. Then comes Morgan quickly after his baby girl and pretty boy have disappeared, and he'll have a blanket wrapped around his shoulders as he drags an already inflated air mattress behind him that he drops in front of the couch. Reid drips a hand off the edge to brush against his shoulder and Garcia stretches out her leg until she can nudge his with her toes. Prentiss comes trudging in next with JJ hanging sleepily off her and Will right behind them with the boys on his hips. Will settles with the boys on the love seat and JJ and Prentiss curl up on the floor at his feet. Hotch is next with Jack asleep on his shoulder and he settles into the chair beside Rossi with Jack on his chest. By this time, Rossi has finished his wine and he reaches out to clasp Hotch's hand in his own and they fall asleep like that, surrounded by their family and taking comfort in the fact thay everyone is there.

This got a little bit away from me. Oops.

Hotch gets chosen the most but if not him chances are it’s Emily, and then Derek & Reid together on special occasions, Garcia is a last minute resort as Jj never likes to take her away from her work while the team is on a case

Garcia ofc protests this and gushes at the idea of watching over you any chance she gets

Will always holds your hand in stores / when you’re in public in general

Jj prefers to trail behind you two a bit or walk on your other side

Jj buys you a soccer ball as a gift and now the three of you go to the park to kick it around at least once a week — sometimes you just toss it back and forth but that never matters to Jj & Will

both love to take you on hikes and go exploring on days off from work

suckers for a good movie night with all the snacks and blankets they can get

if a case is hard or you have a bad day they like to take time for self care as soon as they can — whether it’s just getting your favorite takeout, watching a show you like, getting you a new toy you’ve been wanting, or simply cuddling up on the couch, it doesn’t matter as long as you feel better

My Random Criminal Minds Opinions

As much as I love Jemily I love JJ with Will, I think he is very under appreciated, he's so good to JJ (and I love how sweet and accepting he is of her and Spencers friendship) & also I love his accent lmao

I think Rossi is as good of a profiler as the rest of the team, I think his attitude isn't as intense as the others which might be why people think he's a bad profiler? idk I've also always seen him as the character that shows up when people need an unbiased clear opinion to get them out of their heads, like the voice of reason?

I don't understand Hotch being shipped with ANYONE on the team, he does not have that kind of chemistry with his coworkers

I love that Tara's bisexual but I did not like her with that woman, they had no chemistry

Luke and Penelope need to get together ASAP, they'd be like the golden retriever couple

I wish Elle got a better send off, I don't like the way her story ended they could've done it differently and I wish we got to see her say goodbye to everyone

I hate that they keep giving Spencer potential love interests then going nowhere with it

Billy the dinosaur

Emily has a stuffie, a dinosaur, that she has slept with since she was 15. Her mother would have hated it if she knew, and Emily knew she would say she was too old to have toys or sleep with them and to act like a lady. That was the reason she never let her know. She made sure it was under the covers when she slept and hid it the moment she woke up so she wouldn’t see it. When they moved, she put it in the bottom of her bags under some extra clothes and makeup so nobody would suspect it was there. 

She got used to keeping it hidden even when she lived alone, and there wasn’t any reason for her to do it. The dinosaur was kept in the closet during the day, and she took it out at night.

When she started dating JJ, she still kept it hidden in the closet. It wasn’t because she thought she would judge or make fun of her, but it was more of a routine for her not to let anyone see it. 

One day, when Henry and JJ were spending the day at Emily’s place, and Henry was running around everywhere and touching everything, he found the dinosaur in her closet. At first, Emily was so nervous about what JJ would say, and she was ready to say that it was actually a gift for Henry, but when he said it was so cool and asked her what his name was, those feelings stopped.

She sat on the floor with him and told him he didn’t have one and asked him to help her choose one for him. Henry yelled, “Billy!” and since that moment, the dinosaur had become Billy the dinosaur.  

And any time one of them wasn’t feeling okay, the other brought Billy the dinosaur to them. One time, both of them were sick, and JJ brought Billy and a couple of sandwiches for them to eat in bed. Emily had never been so happy to have kept that stuffie hidden so her mother wouldn’t take it from her when she was a kid.

I don't really know how this got so long because the idea was to say that Emily kept a stuffed dinosaur since her teenage years, but I actually love how this headcanon turned out (and I might want to write a fic about this now, maybe when my brain lets me write more again).

i'm pretty sure what jj and will did for their honeymoon isn't mentioned at all in canon, so i've decided that they did a road trip to canada

they wanted to get out of the country because every state would remind jj of work, but they didn't want to travel overseas with a toddler (and there was no way they were going to spend that much time away from henry after the events of "hit" and "run"). jj mentioned that she has some relatives on her dad's side who are canadian, but she's never actually been there, so they decide they're going to fly to toronto, rent a car, and explore ontario

they thought briefly about going to quebec, since that's where jj's family is from, but they decided against it since neither of them speak french. will claims he knows a bit of louisiana french and he could maybe make himself understood to quebecois speakers, but jj reminded him that he probably wouldn't be able to make himself understood in english to them if his french failed

yeah so they decide to drive around ontario and do all the fun things. i believe the wedding episode aired at the end of may, so they'd have nice weather but they'd also be there before tourist season really started. hmmm... i am having thoughts

another favorite, random hc of mine is will is a massive, non intentional flirt. meaning he flirts for ego purposes not ever w any intention to cheat. he will always shut it down if it seems like it’s going in that direction but he is the type to flirt cus it makes him feel good. that said, he’s always telling people how blessed he was to find a wife that was not the jealous or possessive type at all cus jj never gets mad about his flirting. 

thing is, jj is the jealous type. 

she gets pissed whenever emily shows any interest in any other woman. she stifles it best she can cus she’s got will, but it does come to a head every now and then. she n emily butt heads on account of it a lot more than people realize, behind closed doors. it’s gotten to the point where they don’t even talk about their love lives anymore cus as soon as jj hears about emily with another woman, it causes a slight riff between them, even though she knows it’s unfair.

so, every time will brags about having a super understanding, non jealous, not possessive wife with emily in earshot, she snorts or scoffs cus she’s the only person who knows how jealous jj actually is, and she knows that will doesn’t get that version of her cus jj doesn’t care enough about him romantically for it to manifest in their relationship.

JJ and Matt Headcanons

While they're on the jet after a long exhausting case, they would talk about how miss their families. Just because it was rarely shown onscreen where the two hardly interact, doesn't mean that moments like this never happened

They like to off photos of the kids to each other, from their hobbies and achievements, whether it's sports, academics, arts, music etc. Sometimes they would give each other advice regarding their kids when it comes to their grades in school, friends, bullying and or school crushes

They would gush about how amazing their partners (Will and Kristy respectively) are and why they're the best. Will and Kristy would be amused by this

I think if she had adopted him, and if he still ended up becoming a serial killer, she would immediately know it was him. She'd confront him immediately, sitting down opposite him as he cried as he confessed. She'd nod to someone behind him, tears in her eyes as they took him into custody.

He would have gotten nightmares growing up and Emily would be there for as many as she could. When she couldn't be there physically, she'd be on the phone calming him down. When she was on a case, he would stay with Will and the boys.

She would go to Hotch and JJ for parental advice.

David would continue to excel in school, he'd read with Emily every night. They'd have hot chocolate when he was sad. They'd watch cartoons together.

David and Sergio would be the best of friends, Sergio often falling asleep on David's chest, the pair of them asleep on the sofa/couch.

Plus we would have gotten the mum Emily content we all needed aha.

soooo, i had to. i really did. i’m obsessed with jj and will and just, the idea of how protective he is over her is so precious to me so have this !! tw: mention of eating disorders

♡︎ first of all, he is so insanely patient with her and her needs. he never shouts or raises her voice. he’s gentle and calm with her - no matter what.

♡︎ he never turns down a good cuddle. jj will lean on him, cuddle into him, snuggle with him, wrap herself around him and he never protests. he’ll always hold her whenever.

♡︎ when jj is particularly struggling to express her emotions, he gives her healthy outlets - making her talk about it is just one of them. he’ll also organise fun activities where she can colour or paint. he’ll cook with her or take her on a walk through the woods.

♡︎ he understands how gruelling her work is. as an officer himself. he can see how difficult times can get for them all and will always give jj the time she needs to process it. he tries to make the home life as carefree and gentle as possible.

♡︎ he knows jj inside out. he knows what she’s feeling, knows the magic cures and jj feels so safe and loved with him by her side.

♡︎ he’ll often contact hotch whilst jj is on a case and he knows she’s struggling, to make sure she is okay and to keep an eye on her.

♡ notes ; stopppp I love this idea so so much!! Will is honestly so overheated and such a sweetheart!! (we’re also gonna pretend they don’t have kids for this)

It’d probably start off with them coming to you, Jj being the one to originally think you’re a regressor and Will being the one to suggest them taking you in

You’d have a room at their house that’s specifically for you. Themed for you, a bed in there, toys, extra clothes, anything you could want

If you were ever small and got called into a case I think Jj would talk to Hotch or Emily explaining so you can stay at home with Will

Jj would facetime you guys every night or morning depending on time zones

Will is the definition of spoiling Cg

He is such a sucker for puppy dog eyes or a slight pout to your lip, he’ll basically cave instantly

Butttt he won’t let you stay up past your bedtime, or skip brushing your teeth, or not eat your vegetables

Jj on the other hand……..

She’s less likely to buy you a toy and more likely to let you have two servings of ice cream then stay up an extra hour

They both dote on you like no other!! In and out of headspace, you are their lil baby that will be showered with compliments no matter what

They can both get a bit worried if the case you & Jj catch is extra bad so they make sure Jj’s carry on has extra little gear

And Will picks up his phone on the first ring no matter what

They fight over who puts you to bed if it can’t be them both

It’s their favorite, reading stories, brushing your hair back, tucking you in nice and cozy— it’s so peaceful and they need that with how hectic everything else is

Both of them will carry you anywhere you want, Jj holds you on her back while Will prefers in his arms, but they’re open to different options to make you more comfortable

I’d say you have a pretty solid routine for days off and when you’re not called in super early

Sometimes sleeping in is a must though, for jj especially

Wills always been more of an early riser by nature so if you wanted breakfast or to watch cartoons he’ll do that with you

On the flip side, Jj can stay up til four am every night with no compliments so if you have a bad dream or can’t sleep she’ll be there

But they’ll both always try their best if you wanted a specific person or the other wasn’t around

I've got a headcanon that when she professed her love for Reid, she was expressing her inner/most hidden feelings for Emily; and since Reid was there, she projected those onto him for the sake of the unsubs craving for a dark, un-admittable secret.

the unsub wanted to hear a confession that no one else knew- that even she may be afraid to express to herself, let alone out loud. and with the likely case of internalized homophobia that could've come from her upbringing- I don't think she was ready to admit it was another woman, especially with the likelihood that Emily could've been watching/hearing. the chance JJ would survive and have to live with the words and the feelings she chose to express in that situation, albeit the situation was already extremely traumatic as is. she was likely unsure if she would even make it out alive to see her children again, her husband, co-workers, Emily.

I think in a twisted way, she felt safer confessing her feelings to the closest male coworker; and Reid being confused and dumbfounded at the words she was saying added layers onto the believability for the unsub. that's why he believed her, because those feelings were real, genuine. maybe until then, she had never fully even admitted them to herself. she had just aimed them at the wrong person for the sake of the situation, perhaps even her own peace of mind. she even said herself to Will years prior: when you say something outloud, it becomes real. and when it's real, people can get hurt.

I doubt she'd ever want to ruin her friendship with Emily, not just from the outcome of expressing her emotions- but in general. They had a close, genuine bond; and I'm sure the thought of possibly destroying the foundation of their friendship/bond with her confession was twice as scary.

perhaps that's why she chose to continue her confession towards Reid while in the hospital. she believed that going along with her feelings for a male coworker was a much easier outcome, a much easier way to cope with the thoughts that she may have awaken within the depths of her mind during the initial confession. thoughts she had tried so hard to keep at bay.

maybe that's why things were so awkward with Reid afterwards, over the course of the next few episodes. there's a part of her that likely believed that having feelings towards Reid wouldn't be such a heavy blow during the aftermath. he was the Godfather of her children, they also had an extremely close bond. it some how just.. made more sense to her as she continued to push back her emotions regarding Emily. she rolled with it, of course in a very unfair way to Reid- however I could understand her course of action and her mindset regarding such a situation. she wasn't ready to come out, she may never be, and she did what she believed she had to do.

i think my favorite analysis of jj like, ever, is when they were trying to catch the gay unsub who was killing other gay men. she said that he saw a freedom in them that he couldn’t see in himself. looking at her face when she says that, it looks so personal to her. she grew up in a small town, and her sister k*lled herself. i KNOW that messed with how she saw herself and (i can’t remember if she was religious or not, but for the sake of this post, let’s say she was) sin. especially the “big” sins (su*cide and being gay) she probably repressed that part of her identity. she still is actually. i think jj has always wanted to be a mom, but she never thought she could be a mom without being a wife/having a husband. and i feel like she really did settle with will because she got pregnant. i feel like the writers missed out on a hugeeee opportunity. like this could have been a well written arc for her character. and instead we got her confessing to reid 😒😐

tl;dr : jj has a lot of internalized homophobia/biphobia bc of her upbringing, and i’m still mad about her love confession to reid. idk i’ll probably write a fic about this at one point. also this is not entirely mine, i saw someone point out how she was talking about the unsub and i expanded on it.

Why do you like or dislike this character?

I like him because he's...him! He's snobby, formal even in situations where it's not necessary, really bad at feelings, brutal and determined. And gay, VERY gay. I just love that all about him. He's also a super fun character to write and read!

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

Miles is DEFINITELY a secret fan of Michael Buble and Ray LaMontagne. He will never admit it...but Phoenix may or may not have caught Miles doing the boogey to Michael Buble's "Santa Baby"

I get really pissed at Jemily (or any other ship) headcanons in which Emily is portrayed as some kind of overgrown child who can't care for herself or the kids without doing something irresponsible.

Do people realise she is at minimum in her late thirties? She has lived on her own for over a decade, been undercover, dealt with unimaginable horrors and people are convinced she can't boil an egg or remember a grocery list??!?! She isn't some comedy goofball who breaks rules for fun and damages stuff, she only breaks the law to save kids and protect her family.

She would be an attentive partner and a good parent who could set proper boundaries and be responsible. Stop infantilising someone who is proven to be independent to her own detriment and is highly capable!!
