DP x DC Prompt #28
Danny has been struggling with Vlad Masters for far too long. He's tired. The man's corrupt but everyone's blinded by that fact. Him being a ghost doesn't help.
So, Danny does the only thing he can think of. He goes to a reporter.
Not any reporter, but Clark Kent. Danny's read his article's. Clark's done numerous exposé's on corrupt people. Specifically on one Lex Luthor. According to Clark, he's as big a fruit loop as Masters is.
He just hopes the man will help him. And that he won't get possessed, either.

Tim Drake’s Coworkers (ft. The Fenton Family)
It’s not that Tim doesn’t like the Batfamily. He tolerates them just fine. Damian is great for sparring (if you like sparring with a tiny murder machine), and Jason’s brand of dark humor isn’t too bad once you get used to it. Dick’s a bit too much sometimes, but overall? Fine. Totally fine.
But the thing is… they’re just his coworkers.
And it never really clicks for the Bats until Danny Phantom joins the Justice League and everything starts unraveling.
———
The revelation comes during a League meeting. They’re strategizing about some ghost-related chaos, and Danny floats into the Watchtower, bright and glowing.
“Oh, hey, Tim,” Danny greets casually, giving him a little wave.
Tim doesn’t even look up from his tablet. “Sup.”
Superman looks between them, confused. “…you two know each other?”
Danny grins. “yeah, he’s my brother.”
Dead silence.
“WHAT?!” Bruce’s bellow shakes the entire room.
Tim finally looks up, unfazed. “What? Did you think I just spawned into existence?”
“You have a brother?!” Clark sputters.
“Two siblings, actually,” Tim corrects, utterly nonchalant. “Danny’s the younger one. Jazz is the older one. She’s great. Super organized. Kept me alive in middle school.”
Bruce’s eye twitches. “Why—why am I only learning this now?”
Tim shrugs. “It didn’t seem relevant.”
“Relevant?” Diana repeats, incredulous. “You’re the brother of Danny Phantom and it’s not relevant?”
Danny, who’s been munching on some ectoplasm candy, jumps in: “Honestly, Tim’s always been kind of private about his personal life. We just figured it was his way of coping with the whole ‘raised-by-rich-neglectful-aunt’ thing.”
“Yeah, about that,” Tim interjects, glaring at Danny. “Thanks so much for dumping me with Aunt Janet, by the way.”
Danny shrugs sheepishly. “Mom and Dad panicked! They thought you’d get ghost-napped next!”
“Uh, correction: Aunt Janet left me to raise myself, so that plan was awesome.”
Bruce, trying to keep up, interrupts: “Hold on. Your parents left you with Janet Drake?”
“They didn’t know she sucked at raising kids,” Tim deadpans. “And to be fair, they did call. A lot. I just didn’t pick up.”
Jason, who has been cackling this entire time, leans forward. “Wait, wait, wait—so you’re telling me that the Replacement’s entire family is a bunch of ghost hunters?”
“Yup.” Danny pops the “p” with a grin.
“You’re kidding me,” Steph says, borderline hysterical.
Tim sighs, clearly over it. “Look, it’s not a big deal. Jazz keeps the parents in check, Danny handles the ghost stuff, and I… stay out of the way. It’s fine.”
“FINE?” Damian glares. “Drake, you’ve been fraternizing with ghost hunters while working with a vigilante group, and you think that’s fine?”
Tim raises an eyebrow. “Dami, chill. It’s not like it affects work. You’re my coworkers. They’re my family. Separate categories.”
Cue collective Batfamily malfunction.
———
Later, Danny is chilling in the Batcave, feet kicked up on the Batcomputer, chatting with Alfred. The rest of the Bats are still spiraling.
“Tim, we’ve lived together for years!” Dick exclaims, sounding genuinely hurt. “How are we only your coworkers?”
“You’re not my family,” Tim explains, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “Danny and Jazz are my family. You guys are my teammates. It’s different.”
Jason throws his head back, laughing. “Oh my god, Replacement, you’re stone cold.”
“I’m not cold,” Tim argues. “I just don’t think we need to make it more complicated than it is. We work together. That’s enough.”
Meanwhile, Danny is wiping tears of laughter off his face. “Oh man. Jazz is gonna love this.”

Kryptonian Jack Fenton and a reveal gone right. Jack, who already bodies walls and treats red lights as suggestions, is one of the first people to avoid when going in public in Amity Park. Any newcomer learns this lesson straight from the start. After Dru-Zod’s attack and the releasing of Kryptonian prisoners, Batman/Bruce builds a device that senses Kryptonian DNA anywhere on the planet. They track down all of the missing prisoners, but for some odd reason, they’re getting three more hits in Illinois. Clark decides to go with Diana disguised by civilians and they learn all about the Fenton family. They learn more than they bargain to when they personally witness Jack picking a car up and throwing it at a ghost, then using the remains of that car to plug up the fire hydrant that broke during the fight and had been spewing water everywhere. (That didn’t even remotely solve the problem) Danny, as a human, dodges a blast from the ghost and uses his superspeed to grab a thermos from their house and return within seconds to ‘soup’ the ghost. The entire town ignores the superhuman acts of the Fentons, squaring the actions away as normal Fenton bullshit.

Another twin Au: D and T twins
D and T twins part 2: more info on the twins
When Danyal was pretty young, by accident, he tripped into the pits when no one was looking and came out fine, by after his trip he had gained some abilities that while he wanted to share with his sister, her treated of him was pretty negative and kept to himself, in fact after this he spent his time at the All-Caste to hone his skills partly, but distant himself from his sister.
During this time, he was contacted by a Deity named Chronos/ Clockwork who promised him some clarity on the future of the League as well as some insight into his family and his place in the league.
Now, Danyal knew that the League was not a good nor safe environment to promote the betterment of others, but had a fate that maybe it could change. Both himself and his sister were trained in the art of combat and assassination, but Danyal excelled better in emotional manipulation, strategy and the element of surprise, while his sister was the brutal attacker with her deadly charms.
Talia forgot due to trauma, that one of Ra's tests was to have some assassins assassinate them in their sleep, but one was a little more handsy than they should of, so when Danyal heard his sister's quiet tears, Danyal was there and with quick efficiency and brutally the assassin was dismembered into chunks that Talia had to change sleeping quarters and they could never really get rid of the bloodstains in that room. (This hints at some aggression that can be seen in Dan Phantom)
This is where Ra took a personal interest in Danyal and had mandatory sessions with him. During or after some sessions, Danyal was able to get into Ra's journal without being caught and he read the first-hand account of Ra's deeds. Danyal is appalled by this but understands that from an early age, his father has been mentally unwell from his Lazarus pits baths and that whatever remains is his brain struggling to process all the years he has been alive and that his mistreatment of his sister is due to old ways thinking. After the failed switch between Danyal and Ra, Ra trained his sister to be on equal footing as her brother, but without the spiritual resilience Danyal had.
[During Danyal's trip into the Danny Phantom universe, Danyal had been reduced to being reborn again into the Fenton Family and lived his 14 years ( and experienced his sister's frustrations with a "Golden child" sibling with Jazz) with them until his accident. Danyal, now Danny was good friends with both Tucker Foley and Sam Manson but had some reservations about their goals in befriending him. With Danny's new abilities, he dons the character of Ghost superhero as he had opened the portal and was partially responsible for its work.
Danny played the role of a failing high student who was bullied by peers,( a Clark Kent/Superman role) cut to the episodes where Danny deals with enemies such as Vlad, Freakshow, the GIW, the Observants, Valerie, Pariah Dark and any other big names. Danny had made friends with some of the ghosts including the deity Clockwork after a false assassination attempt and had learned the true nature of the Lazarus pits i.e. ectoplasm. Danny doesn't really entertain the idea of dating but accepts that he has preferences for strong driven individuals...batman.
At the end of the series, not including Phantom Planet, the Sr. Fentons have discovered Danny's true identity as Phantom as well as Danyal Al Ghul that he briefed to his sister, his clone (That after being discovered and rescued from Vlad was kept in the Zone to properly stabilize) and friends some time ago, the Fentons are outraged and in a move of pure idiocy, they blow up their portal that blows their home up and killing them and turning them into ghosts.
They spend their afterlives in ghost zone prisons, learning to correct their biases in death. Jazz ends with either the Foleys or Mister Lancer as Danyal is declared dead at the scene along with his parents. (He's not but once he gets back to his dimension, and Jazz has finished her education she will join him. Sam and Tucker may summon him, but he is not bringing them as he feels that there is no need for them to join him in the assassination and Danny is mentally older than them both as he played Danny as he never experienced normal childhood. Even if Sam harbours a crush on him, he has stated that he reserved his affections for someone else.]
More in part 3...

An idea came to me reading a fic where Danny was a kryptonian. What if Amity Park instead of being a city in the USA on Earth was once a city on Krypton (in what would be a kryptonian version of early 21st century or at least about 100 years before the planet blew up). Basically almost everything that happened in cannon DP happened and everything is mostly the same but with a more alien then earth tone to it.
After Phantom Planet Danny's parents except him being part ghost, the government overturn the Ecto Acts, and he able to finish high school and goes on to college after which he is happily welcomed to for work for KASA (Krypton Aeronautics and Space Administration). He becomes an Astronautical engineer. Danny is in his early thirties when he is testing out a new experimental space ship engine for KASA. While doing a flight test Danny's ship losses signal and no one can find it (kind of what happened in the show Farscape).
100s of years go by Krypton explodes baby Kal-El is sent to Earth where he grows up to be Superman. The JL suddenly get a signal/warning about some alien tech on the edge of the solar system. They send one of the Green Lanterns to take a look, where they report a spaceship dead in space. They don't expect any life forms but surprise because of his ghost half Danny was in a sort of suspended animation. He is brought back and wakes up in the Watch Tower.
Just Random ideas...
Kryptonite is the crystalized form of ectoplasm because of this Danny is not effected by it.
Danny's kryptonian name is Daniel Fen-Ton
The phantom zone projector was originally called the Fen-Ton zone projector or is was based off a Fen-Ton gadget.
Years after Danny disappears Krypton starts turning on ghost again, so the town of Amity, which now has a symbiotic relationship with ghost, vote to pull the whole town into the Ghost Zone. So it is not blown up like the rest of the planet though Danny does not know this in the beginning.
Danny has an easier time learning to use Earth technology then he does the Kryptonian technology in Superman's Fortress.
Danny also has slightly easier time when getting the regular Kryptonian power set due to the yellow sun because he went through something similar when getting his ghost powers.
Danny adopts Connor almost immediately. Maybe during Danny's time there was laws about cloning and clone rights on Krypton. Also while Connor is not a replacement he sort of fills in the void of losing Ellie.
While Superman has no idea who Danny is, Kara/Supergirl has a faint idea because he was briefly mentioned in her Krytonian History class. Also she is happy to have someone who can natively speak the kyrptonian language even if it has older vocabulary. Don't get her wrong its great to speak it with Kal-El but he learned it later in life.
Holly char this is amazing!
How many people will have a stroke when they see Danny casually pick up a piece of kryptonite? Batman? His normal Kryptonian contingency plan won't work. Luthor? There's a version of superman IMMUNE to Kryptonite. Clark? What the hell do you mean you can touch kryptonite
I think after Danny explains everything about his past and species so many people are going to just...give up. Hahaha a stronger version of superman who isn't effected by kryptonite, goodbye world
Connor will be ecstatic, Danny will do ALL the dad stuff, teaching him their language, proper training, engineering lessons and you bet he's going to use jazz's psychiatrist stuff on this kid
Danny's probably going to get mega-depressed, all his hard work breaking the racism against ghosts only for that to come back a few years after he left? And he can't even fix it again because their world went bye-bye
Also- here me out
Co-pilot Valerie

Clark has no context for why he’s freaking out. Danny has no context for what’s happening. Both are clueless to the greater mechanisms they’re both a part of, which makes me think it’d be super interesting to see how they’d learn and what the fallout would be.
Maybe Kara is off planet when Danny is introduced to the JL and for maybe a month or so afterwards. During that time Clark has been losing his mind over this 5’5 forever teenager. He’s been startling easily, talking less, the works. But he can’t help it. Every time he feels Danny in the vicinity the hair on the back of his neck stands on end and the pit of his stomach drops. It’s getting ridiculous. Bruce is about to stage an intervention.
Danny, meanwhile, has also been avoiding Clark for the totally opposite reasons. Something about the man of steel draws his eye and sets the core deep in his chest ticking with anticipation. More than once he’s caught himself following the older man (or god forbid Danny’s assigned JL mentor) through the building unintentionally, scary eyes out and fangs biting at the human gums that hide them. It feels predatory. And the protector spirit in Danny hates that.
Danny keeps meaning to ask Clockwork about it, but joining the JL does not translate to a lot of down time. Or at least that’s the excuse he tells himself to sleep at night. Still, when he gets the chance to pick a ghost’s mind about it, he takes the opportunity and Ember is happy to oblige.
“Oh. Baby-Pop, this ‘colleague’ of yours ain’t the Kryptonian is he?”
When Danny nods Ember cackles like a banshee. It feels a little excessive.
“Ooh my god.” She gets out finally. “That boy-scout is so damn lucky his ass got you.”
When Danny asks what she means she explains the ghosts’ hunting history with Kryptonians to him.
“But why would he be lucky I joined the League? Sounds like he’d be better off never running into me.”
Ember huffs.
“You’re a protector spirit Danny.” She answers like she’d just announced ‘the sky is blue’. “And a kind-of-alive one at that. If anyone could fight down the need to kill it’d be you.”
“Woah, woah, need to kill?”
“Jesus do you listen to a damn thing I say? What do you think happens if ghosts get stuck out in the living world without ectoplasm, we lay over and die again? Have to get sustenance somewhere.”
The night Kara comes back Clark is happy to have her and more than a little desperate to get this experience off his chest even at the cost of ruthless teasing. When he is instead met with abject horror he is a little concerned and a lot surprised.
As he chases after her down the hallways of the Watchtower toward the meeting room Batman usually haunts and which Clark knows is currently being used as a meeting place for Danny and Bruce to discuss ‘updated security measures’ he thinks this is exactly the kind of insanity he should have seen coming.
Ok so y'all've likely hear of the whole "kryptonite is hardened ectoplasm" thing (which can def make sense considering it's made from all the death having seeped into the now destroyed krypton if that one little snippet of information was telling the truth and I'm remembering it right) and I bring you:
Ghosts not only eat kryptonite but there's also a subsection species that actively lived on/visited krypton pre-nonexistence to hunt kryptonions and that's why kryptonions are so invulnerable and have all the powers that they have. Its how they evolved to withstand their predators (ghosts).
So like, imagine if Clark and Kara both get an intense prey-reaction of they ever meet Danny. And maybe Jon and Kon both get really anxious but it's less so than full kryptonions! And really Clark wouldn't know why he's so terrified of a teen that doesn't even reach his shoulders unless he asks The Fortress or Kara tells him. Maybe even Danny doesn't know and sometimes gets the urge to chase down a Super or automatically focuses on any of them when in the same room–never looking away from his prey the Super the entire time.
Idk I just think it'd be neat!

Wayne Spirit Add-ons Pt 2
+Danny has baby pictures of everyone but Alfred which Bruce both loves and hates because Danny also included some moments of his life he did not wanted to remember (but he loves because it includes all his children as babies)
+Danny leaves photos of blackmail to whoever he thinks will need it the most for reasons
+Tim and Bruce got extra special treatment for when they ripped into Clark about his treatment to Connor (he felt like he was going to burst when he saw them do the same with Lex Luther)
+Danny knows when the Lazarus Pit is acting up from Jason and immediately goes to him to calm the pit
+Danny leave Ectoplasm snacks for Jason, then Cass and Damian later on which they all love (and no other bat can have unless they want to feel a bit more then dead)
+Danny hates when any member of the family either gives each other a cold shoulder or are fighting to the point where he turns everything around him to the negative degrees (that is the signal for every bat to stop because they are making their resident ghost cry)
+All the bats have a competition over what is Danny’s name and his appearance before Duke came around, turns out Bruce won because he did see a glance at him once as a child very young
+Leaves as soon as he sees Catwomen near Batman because… no, just no. He saw him as a baby, he dose not need to see his boy flirt much less kiss anyone thanks
+Danny starts banging his head over the pattern of Dick’a partners
+Danny reviled himself when Bruce once got kidnapped (before he was an adult) by scaring the ever living shit out of his kidnappers which started the rumor that he was protected by Gotham’s spirit (which later turned to the Wayne’s when Dick got kidnapped, then Jason, then Tim and so on (every kidnapper learned the hard way))
+There’s a couple of ice blue crystal designed tables that the bats put little trinkets and things they want Danny to have or allow him to borrow because their ghost deserves all the presents (they have to pamper him somehow)
+They fight to have Danny with them during Summer which doesn’t work out for them because Danny only goes to whoever he thinks has the most brain cells at that time
+Will pull a lot of pranks at gales to entertain Bruce as a kid and then to all of his children when they clearly want an escape
+Everyone knows Danny is the happiest when they are in the Watchtower because they have a trail of snowflakes behind them when ever they go
+Batman almost killed John Constantine when he tried to exorcist Danny once he saw him clinging on to Batman’s back like a parasite at a meeting
+Captain Marvel/Shazam takes one look at him and waves with a greetings to him with a smile (he gets brownie points with ALL the bats (to the point where other hero’s see how Bats is bias towards him))
+Superman feel very uneasy when he first met Batman
+Mess with Bruce Wayne and you will find your dreams fill with nightmares of endless pools of green and a child who drools the same shade of green as the child grins at them (“Your next.”)
+Danny can not take any of the Bats seriously because he seen them all grow up and is not afraid of any of them, finds their imitation tactics cute (verbally coos at Bruce when he did it the first time and almost cried out of pure joy when Dick, still as Robin, tried to copy him)
+Danny added fuel to Bruce’s adoption addiction by leave adoption papers every time he brings in a child (jokes on him when the Bruce finds out how old Danny is)

Love the Batfam au’s but how about a superfam au, where the Kent’s are jacks relatives maybe before Clark goes to metropolis he and his parents have visited a few times mostly because they get worried for Danny and jazz. However they notice on there latest visit that Danny is acting strange and Clark notices he has a super slow heartbeat and they manage to get Danny to talk Clark even shows his powers, could see it as Clark finding an excuse to get Danny out of there before or during the series, maybe have him move in and get him a job at the daily planet?
Amg I like this~ I can see if its where the Fentons knew that he had an accident but not aware how bad it was too. Just like ah Danny did get into a bit of an accident. He's acted a bit strange since. Clark probably has to show off his powers a bit first before Danny confesses to his own. Danny never revealed to anyone, they usually just let him know they knew. So I can see after learning their cousin is an alien Danny be more open, and confesses.. especially once Clark mentions his heartbeat. Like fine.. ur good with secrets.. I think. I can't see him keeping a job at daily planet, not his thing though he loves the name of it LOL upset they dont talk about a different planet or star each day. Convincing Danny to leave his situation though be hard, and it wouldn't be until he has to that he flies onto their doorstep.. apologizing.. asking if the offer still open ;w;. Jazz visiting after playing crowd control often too. She glad to be out of the situation. Danny I can see just having trouble finding his way in life. Trying to find out what he want to do.. heroing is easy, living is hard. pfft Though imagine Clark mentioning Batman reminds him of his lil cousin. =w= because grumpy LOL as a tease kek ...I mostly just think its cute Danny gets a flying buddy LOL

Movie Review | To Sleep With Anger (Burnett, 1990)
Tumblr media
Like many people, my primary reference point for Danny Glover's career is his role as Roger Murtaugh in Lethal Weapon, wherein he famously declares that he is "too old for this shit" and grows exasperated at the unpredictable behaviour of his loose cannon partner and the escalating violence that surrounds him. What I'm saying is, there's a certain geriatric quality about him. He holds his own in an action movie context, but also comes across like a relatively nonthreatening figure. (It was a bit startling to see Silverado recently, where he comes across as much more potent and even a bit cool.) In To Sleep With Anger, he takes that veneer of harmlessness and subverts it, rendering insidious his usual geniality and bonhomie. Glover plays a man who shows up at a family's house claiming to be a distant relative and never leaves, insinuating himself into the fractures in the family's relationships. It's the kind of performance that gets under your skin and stays with you, much like the character he plays.
Soon after he arrives, Burnett signals to us something is off about this character, with his insistence on clarifying that he's been invited and specifying his sleeping arrangements. This is something that struck me as almost vampiric, but the Criterion Collection essay by Ashley Clark cites the Hairy Man folktale as the inspiration. Likewise, there are further hints to his sinister nature when another character (played by Sy Richardson, known to me for his collaborations with Alex Cox, and who I just learned also played the father in Petey Wheatstraw, the Devil's Son-in-Law) prods him about the fates of three boys who were murdered, only for him to provide the cagiest of responses. And while his presence hangs psychologically over all members of the household, his influence proves greatest on the ne'er-do-well son (Richard Brooks), who is seduced by his rejection of traditional values like hard work and religion. There's also a slyly comic angle to the proceedings, like the arrival of Glover's increasingly fogeyish friends who like him never leave and proceed to wear on the family's patience, as well as the slapstick- and satire-tinged fate of his character.
Burnett plays all this at a level just below horror, preferring to let the sense of unease simmer rather than accumulate into a clearer sense of threat. We know something is off, but can't really grasp what or rationalize it away. When I read Roger Ebert's review, I can understand his frustration that the film never reaches a boil like the premise would suggest. But Burnett is less interested in suspense than in observing how the rhythms of this family's domestic life are disrupted by the presence of the Glover character. It's informed by the neorealist style of his earlier Killer of Sheep, but not limited to it. (I do owe that movie a rewatch, as it's been a couple of years and for whatever reason I wasn't in the right mood when I watched it.) And it's not just in the abstract, observational sense, as Burnett will focus his attention to specific objects or events of implied symbolic value, like Glover's lucky knife, his nudie deck, his snakeskin-like shirt during a dinner party, the remedies the wife tries when her husband falls ill (only to be chastised by her preacher for not settling for the power of prayer), and the suggestion that the number of patients in the hospital correlates to the full moon. I confess that the resonance of some of these things went over my head, but I appreciate the way Burnett avoids clear explanations and prefers to transplant us into this situation. We don't need to be told that something is off about Glover, we can feel it just like the protagonists.

Imagine if instead Danny learns how to clone/ uses a device to separate his halves without doing damage. That way, he could do a series of episodes/ interviews with Phantom, and anyone analysing the video feed would see that the second person hasn't been shopped in. This helps to legitimise his secret identity and has the added bonus of discrediting Wes's retaliation podcast (he spends the entire time showing his 'evidence' of why they're the same person. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't have any actual proof to offer besides bad vibes).
Initially, the podcast only gained traction amongst the youth of Amity Park, but one of the students sent a link to her cousin, who was an intern at The Daily Planet. The cousin gets hooked on the show, having been from Amity initially and being familiar with their local hero. They're in the lunch area at work watching it with headphones during their break when one of the senior journalists sits at their table. It's crowded at this point in time and not unusual for spare spaces to be taken by others when you sit by yourself, so they think nothing of it, until they get a tap on their shoulder.
They're annoyed, thinking this big shot is going to try and kick them off the table, but the guy is actually really interested in what they're watching. It's that Jimmy guy who always gets the best shots of Superman (they personally think the two men are secretly dating). Jimmy is interested in what TV show she's watching, thinking it's one his friend's kids will enjoy, and is surprised to find out that it's a podcaster interviewing an actual here from her home town. They send him the link and think nothing more if it, more interested in finding out whether there's going to be long-lasting effects from their hometown being pulled into a different dimension.
Jimmy, on the other hand, goes on a massive research binge, watching every single episode and checking it against local news reports. This guy is doing some seriously good PR work for his local hero, and the podcast is surprisingly good quality considering it's being made by high schoolars. He loads a report he wrote quickly onto a USB stick before heading to the roof and pressing the button on his watch.
Superman, as always, arrives quickly. He seems confused as to why Jimmy pressed the panic button, considering he's seemingly fine (Clark knows he's been sitting at his desk researching all day, and assumes he's stumbled upon some great conspiracy that Superman needs to take down).
Jimmy quickly apologises if he pulled Superman away from something time sensitive, but he found something that he thinks the Justice League might be interested in. They've only been amd for a couple of years, and despite having the backing of several well-known philanthropic billionaires like Queen and Wayne, they still don't have the best reputation. Especially the less well- known heroes and the side kicks. He thinks this guy has a great idea, and they should do something similar maybe.
Clark assured the man that they'll look into it but passes it on to Batman without looking at it too deeply. Bruce is very particular with how they handle their public image, knowing that their actions could potentially affect every enhanced individual on the planet.
Bruce is intrigued and does a deeper dive into this Daniel Fenton kid. Despite what seems to be a chronic phobia of ghosts (he almost always runs away at the first sign of them) and having scientist parents that believe all ghosts are evil, Daniel has decided to approach their local ghost hero and help him tell his side of the story. From the few videos he has found, the boy is skilled at combat when needed and fast at running on his feet.
He decides to pass it on to Tim and the Young Justice to approach the boy about interviewing other heroes/vigilantes. There have been a large number of concerning things showing up in his initial search about the hero Phantom, including a mole on the Watchtower. Agent Jay has been blocking all communication from the state and sending back concerning responses. It also seems that he needs to look into Amanda Waller again. This GIW branch she's started is beyond dodgy and illegal under the Meta Protection Acts.
Young Justice starts their own podcast purely to get Danny's attention, as they realise that they don't have the necessary equipment to visit him without risking overshadowing. Danny agrees to meet with them in Elmerton with spector-deflectors for them to wear, and they have an initial meet and greet. He immediately fanboys over the alien members of the team but gets himself back under control fairly quickly.
He agrees to do videos for some members of the team in exchange for Superboy doing him a favour. The team is on edge, unsure what he'll ask the half-kryptonian for, but Danny explains that a villain recently made a clone of himself, Phantom and themself, and he'd appreciate any advice for how to help her form her own identity outside of her programmed memories and instincts.
Kon agrees to help, and they plan a meet-up between himself and the new clone in Happy Harbour, as she plans to flee the area as soon as Danny has her ID and travel needs sorted. Nightwing is concerned about the legalities of creating her identity, but Danny just shrugs and mentions offhand that the Ghost of technology owed him a favour, so it's all sorted.
Danny has a podcast
Imagine Danny, after years of being ridiculed by mass media, decides to go on a podcast so his side of the story can be heard.
Problem is he can’t find a podcast to go on. A lot of them are to afraid of Phantoms enemies or just not interested. So in classic Danny fashion he decides to fix the problem himself so records and releases a 1 hour tell all interview on being a teenage hero. With Danny as the host and Phantom as the guest with some help from Tucker for the editing to make it all seem like one seamless conversation between two people.
All posted on a YouTube channel they made called “Beneath the Cape”
He thought it would be a one time thing. That maybe down the road he might do another interview with his dead self to talk about other things but he really didn’t expect more than that.
He definitely did not expect to get emails from other heroes asking if they can come on the podcast as a guest.
Because apparently being frustrated by the media giving you a bad wrap is a universal experience in the hero world and after a thorough background check they trusted him to portray them in a more accurate light.
He never could have imagined it get this big but now look at him. Having a shared ranting session with Red Hood about weird billionaires trying to be their fathers.

Born and raised in Greece by his single mother, Michael Morbius experienced an isolated childhood due to his rare blood condition, which contributed to his ugly and unpleasant-looking appearance. But despite his looks, he was an intellectually gifted young man who spent his time reading books and, in time, became a highly respected and Nobel Prize-winning biologist who specialized in the field of human and animal biology. While in New York, after escaping from his home country due to his pseudo-vampiric condition, he attempted to find a cure and to protect his fiancé Martine Bancroft, but he was attacked by the Lizard and defeated when Spider-Man and the Lizard teamed up against him to recover a sample of Morbius's blood in order to cure their own mutated physical conditions before he escaped. The truth behind his horrific condition is that, in order to cure himself of an unknown blood disease which was killing him, Morbius, using his past experience as an expert biochemist, had attempted to cure himself of the disease with an experimental treatment involving vampire bat DNA and electroshock therapy. However, he instead became afflicted with a far worse disease called "pseudo-vampirism" that mimicked some of the powers and the bloodlust of supernatural vampirism. Morbius now had to drink blood in order to survive and had a strong aversion to light. His bones became hollow and he gained the ability to fly, as well as gaining superhuman strength, super-speed, and an accelerated healing factor. His appearance, already ugly, now became hideous—his upper canine teeth extended into fangs, his nose flattened to appear more like that of a bat's and his skin became chalk-white. He also gained the ability to turn others into similar "living vampires" like himself by biting them and drinking their blood, infecting them with the disease of pseudo-vampirism.[13] People whom Morbius infected with the disease of pseudo-vampirism did not truly die as a result and they could be cured through an antidote to pseudo-vampirism derived from Morbius's blood that Morbius and Martine had created, although that antidote would not work on Morbius himself. They also did not acquire his ability to fly or his healing factor and any mortal wound could kill them.[14] He later sought a cure for his condition, but battled Spider-Man, the Human Torch, and the original X-Men.[15]Morbius then encountered Barbara Clark and protected her from a demon named Nilrac, but unfortunately after that, Morbius killed her and drank her blood to satisfy his hunger, feeling a strong sense of guilt immediately afterward.[16]
Morbius later rescued Amanda Saint from a Satanic cult known as Demon-Fire and aided her in her quest to find her missing parents.[17] He caused John Jameson to again become the Man-Wolf. Alongside the Man-Wolf, he battled Spider-Man again in another attempt at a cure.[18] He then battled Reverend Daemond and encountered the Caretakers of Arcturus IV. At the same time, he visited both the Land Within, the home of the Cat People, and the planet Arcturus IV, the homeworld of the Caretakers. During this time, he first battled Blade the Vampire-Slayer.[19] He then first battled the Werewolf (Jack Russell)[20] He then first encountered rogue CIA agent Simon Stroud and battled the extra-dimensional demon known as Helleyes.[21] He and Stroud then battled a large group of other pseudo-vampires that had been created by Morbius, destroying them all. One of them, however, who had been taken into police custody, turned Martine into a pseudo-vampire before being destroyed by Morbius, but Morbius (who then turned on Martine and made her a pseudo-vampire again due to his bloodlust overcoming him) and Stroud cured Martine by using the antidote, after which Morbius fled.[14] He then encountered Alicia Twain, a desperate landowner, and tried to help her keep her land; however, she died at the hands of the men trying to steal her land despite Morbius's help, forcing Morbius to kill her murderers.[22] Next, he encountered an enigmatic woman named Morgana St. Clair in England, who aided him and seemed to know all about vampires. This led to Morbius batting - and destroying - the Brotherhood of Judas, another Satanic cult of which St. Clair was a member.[23] Alongside the Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze), the Man-Thing (Ted Sallis), and the Werewolf, he then encountered the Starseed.[24]Morbius then visited his old friend Ronson Slade, a scientist, again hoping to find a cure. Slade, however, had become a werewolf and Morbius was forced to kill him.[25]Morbius then first battled the Thing, then teamed up with him to battle the Living Eraser and escaped to Dimension Z.[26] He later returned to Earth and battled Spider-Man again, this time briefly controlled both physically and mentally by an extra-dimensional humanoid android called the Empathoid, which fed on emotions to survive. Spider-Man destroyed the Empathoid (after the android had left Morbius and possessed him) by causing it to overdose on emotions during an exposure to the crowd at a baseball game in a stadium where he and Morbius had taken their battle, after which both of them left due to the approach of the stadium guards. Morbius then fled and Spider-Man left the Empathoid's body with the Fantastic Four for safekeeping.[27]
He once again fought Spider-Man and tried to drink his radioactive blood, but then he was hit by a lightning bolt at the same time, which cured him of his pseudo-vampirism and made him human again (he still retained a thirst for blood, however).[28] While he was cured, he was charged with the crimes he had committed as a pseudo-vampire and was represented by Jennifer Walters, whose dual identity as the She-Hulk was not yet publicly known at the time. Morbius selflessly saved Walters' life and stabilized her erratic transformations into the She-Hulk with a serum that he had created to cure the remnants of his own transformation.[29] He eventually regained his pseudo-vampiric state and first met Doctor Strange.[30] Alongside Doctor Strange and Brother Voodoo, he battled Marie Laveau and witnessed the return of true vampires.[31] Morbius later battled Spider-Man in the New York sewers.[32]
The Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch) and Johnny Blaze searched for Morbius to form the Nine (a.k.a. the Midnight Sons) and stop Lilith the Mother of All Demons and her children the Lilin from taking over the world. When they found Morbius, the pseudo-vampire believed that they would kill him, but the Ghost Rider and Blaze successfully captured him. Doctor Langford, who supposedly tried to heal Morbius's wounds, was actually trying to kill him and was working for Doctor Paine. He made an unknown mutagenic serum that would prove fatal to Morbius. Unknown to Doctor Langford, Fang, one of Lilith's children, was also trying to kill Morbius by adding his own demonic blood to the serum, which would also be fatal to Morbius. When Doctor Langford injected the serum to Morbius, it did not kill him, but instead it mutated him. Morbius's friend, Jacob, was trying to look inside of him and see what he could do about Morbius's condition. After Martine Bancroft, Morbius's ex-fiancé, found out that Langford was trying to kill him, Langford shot her and she bled to death. Morbius found out about this and was enraged to find his ex-fiancé dead. He later avenged the death of Martine by killing Langford and took the beaker which contained the serum.[33] The Ghost Rider and Blaze later found out about Morbius's acts of destruction. The Ghost Rider confronted him and would not tolerate Morbius drinking any more innocent blood. Morbius then vowed he would only drink the blood of the guilty. The Ghost Rider accepted the vow, but warned him not to stray from it. Morbius soon became part of the Midnight Sons.
Later, a new faction of vampires tried to destroy Morbius because he had been genetically manipulated to be the perfect weapon. The chest in which he was to be delivered was intercepted by the Kingpin, Blade and Spider-Man, and he attacked all three. Whatever unknown party manipulated him failed; he collapsed after one battle, possibly dying. With his last breath, he warned Spider-Man to beware of his employer, Senator Stuart Ward.[34]
It was later revealed that Morbius had signed the Superhuman Registration Act and was cooperating with S.H.I.E.L.D. in an effort to capture Blade.[35] He had also presumably survived his genetic manipulation, as Blade was able to distinguish him as the same Morbius who "took a bite out of [him]" in their previous encounter.[36]
Morbius was next seen as a member of A.R.M.O.R., held captive by the zombie Morbius from the Marvel Zombies universe of Earth-2149.[37] He survived the invasion, killing his zombie counterpart in the process.[38] Shortly after, he formed a new version of the Midnight Sons with Jennifer Kale, Daimon Hellstrom, Jack Russell, and the Man-Thing to contain a zombie outbreak on an isolated island, briefly running afoul of the Hood in the process.[39]
Morbius later helped the Man-Thing re-assemble a decapitated Punisher into a Frankensteinian monster called FrankenCastle.[40]
During The Gauntlet storyline, Morbius was behind the theft of a vial of Spider-Man's blood. Spider-Man, learning that Morbius was planning to use the blood samples to create a cure for Jack Russell, agreed to help Morbius out by giving him more of his blood to help with the cure.[41]
During the Origin of the Species storyline, Morbius was among the supervillains recruited by Doctor Octopus to secure some items for him.[42]
During the events of Spider-Island, it was revealed to the reader that Morbius was the mysterious Number Six working at Horizon Labs. He assisted, wearing a hazmat suit to conceal his identity, in preparing the cure to the spider-powers virus.[43] When Peter Parker tried to investigate the identity of "Number Six", he accidentally provoked Morbius—who had been using the cure to try to develop a basis for a cure for his own condition—into a frenzy, prompting the staff at Horizon to step up building security (making it harder for Peter to enter and exit the building as Spider-Man in the future) and also forcing Morbius to leave, where it was revealed that he had been working with the Lizard, presumably trying to find a cure for both of their conditions. It was also revealed that Morbius was a college friend of Max Modell.[44] Using DNA samples from the corpse of Billy Connors, Morbius was able to create a cure that would restore the Lizard to human form, but he failed to recognize that the Lizard had completely destroyed Curt Connors' human persona.[45] The Lizard was left alone in Morbius's lab, allowing him to release blood into the lab's air supply to provoke the injured Morbius into attacking the other Horizon scientists. This prompted Morbius to flee the lab, with Spider-Man in pursuit.[46] Morbius was captured by Spider-Man and locked up in a cell in the Raft.[47]
When Peter Parker (whose mind was now in Doctor Octopus's dying body) needed some supervillains to help capture Otto Octavius (whose mind was now in Spider-Man's body), Morbius offered to help, but was rejected.[48] Morbius eventually escaped from the Raft[49] and fled to Brownsville.[50]
After some time, he tried to stop some vampires in Barcelona, but got captured by them and locked in a coffin. The vampires wanted to mix their blood with that of Morbius, until he got unintentionally saved by Domino, Diamondback and the Outlaw. After telling them about the vampires' plan, they agree to help him kill King Morbius (a true vampire infected with Morbius's blood). Then after killing him, a vampire hunter tried to kill Morbius, but thanks to Domino, he escaped.[51]
Morbius was later rescued by Agent of Wakanda Wasp from Dracula's Disciples, with assistance from Agents Broo and Man-Wolf. He later informed the Wasp and Director Okoye on the Vampire Civil War

I made this thread on Twitter kind of comparing how The Mindy Project and The 100 seem to be handling their cast shake-ups, which might seem rather silly of me because they are different genres, but I’ve been rewatching The Mindy Project recently, and I remember how upset the writing and stuff made me while I was watching TMP, even though I knew that it was because Chris Messina had asked to be on the show less to pursue other projects. He was in like a million movies in 2016! But as I go back and rewatch, I’m realizing they actually handled it very well, and I thought I’d elaborate a little more on my thread where there is no character limit. So spoilers for TMP and what we’ve seen of season 7 of The 100 probably.
Tl;dr: I still think Bellarke is happening, and I don’t think what we’re seeing on screen would be that much different, even if Bob hadn’t asked for time off.
So season 3 of The Mindy Project ends with Mindy and Danny (played by Chris Messina) together and expecting a baby, though Danny has said he’s not sure he wants to get married again. He even travels all the way to India to visit Mindy’s parents and explain to them that he is in love with Mindy, but isn’t sure he wants to marry her. This is where the first episode of season 4 picks up, and at the end of this episode, after Danny talks to Mindy’s parents and comes to the realization that he wants to work past his hang-ups on marriage, he proposes to Mindy.
Now somewhere in between season 3 and the writing of season 4 Chris Messina asked to be on the show less because he was interested in pursuing other projects. So the writers had to navigate how to tell a story where Mindy’s fiance and the father of her child was not on the show as much. They first did this by setting up the conflict of Mindy realizing that she does not actually want to be a stay-at-home mom, like she initially agreed. She wants to still be a doctor and continue to grow her fertility practice. She has a hard time telling this to Danny, because since his mother was a single mom and always working, he felt alone during childhood, and he doesn’t want his kid to feel alone or unloved, though Mindy argues that just because they both work doesn’t mean that Leo will feel unloved. This argument and conflict gets put on pause when Danny’s father has a heart attack, and he goes to California to take care of him. While he’s gone, Mindy goes back to work and realizes for sure that she doesn’t want to stop working. When Danny returns this conflict continues, because Danny wants another kid soon, and Mindy realizes she’s not sure she wants another kid, because she’s committed to growing her fertility practice, especially now that her new business partner Jody is involved. They can’t work past this, and end up breaking up, which is told through an extremely well done montage if you’d like to watch season 4 ep. 14.
The next two seasons show Mindy as she handles being a working single mom, co-parenting with her ex, and even some of her dating adventures. She even ends up marrying someone else for a while, and Danny gets engaged again. So even though Chris Messina is no longer a series regular, he is very much still part of the story. Season 6 shows how Mindy and Danny grow back together in a way, as they realize that they’ve both grown and that they still love each other and want to work through their issues and be with each other again.
I then think about what TMP would have looked like had Chris Messina not asked to be on the show less, and I honestly think it makes sense for them to still have done something similar. Danny was always Mindy’s main love interest, and seasons 1 and 2 saw Mindy through many boyfriends, Danny and Mindy’s “will they, won’t they”, and their eventual decision to be together. Season 3 was them being together, and also navigating long distance for a period of time as Mindy went to do a fellowship at Stanford. Yeah, this is a rom-com, but I think it would have been pretty boring for seasons 4-6 to only be about the “happily ever after.” Even if Chris hadn’t asked for time off, I think conflicts still would have arisen between Mindy and Danny, because they are very different as people and they both had some growing to do, even if they do have to stay on somewhat decent terms because of their son. The whole point is that they never stopped loving each other through all of this.
So what, might you ask, does this have to do with The 100? Well I’m assuming a similar sit-down happened between season 6 and the writing of season 7 where Bob asked to take some time off. Obviously the situation is different, but Bob and Chris are both the second leads, so it’s definitely something the writers have to sit and think about in terms of how they’re going to handle it.
If your second lead asks to take time off in the last season of the show, it makes sense to write him missing for most of the beginning half of the season. So that when things wrap up at the end, Bellamy will be there as the story comes to a close. Now that we’ve seen six episodes, I’m assuming that we’re about to start wrapping up some of the side stories so that when Bellamy is back for real, the focus will then turn back to Bellamy and Clarke. People have been saying that Bellamy is the key and Clarke is the key to whatever this story unfolding is. Their stories are connected, and you can’t fully tell one without the other. I think it’s safe to say that later on we’ll see them reunited and learn more about what this means. But for now, we’re focusing on other characters, and I’m okay with that.
Since the story is coming to a close, I’ve been thinking a lot about the overarching journey. We’ve seen Bellamy and Clarke go from adversaries to reluctant leaders, to best friends, and I’d still say we are most definitely on track for a Bellarke ending. I’m one of those people that actually loves when Bellamy and Clarke are separated, because I find their reunions to be incredibly meaningful. And I think the reunion that we’re being set up for is going to be great, though I don’t have much of an idea on how it’s going to happen. I’m just waiting to watch all the pieces fall into place.
I know a lot of us talk about what would have happened if Clarke made it up to the Ring in season 4 because it was pretty obvious there was such unspoken tension and love between the two of them, but honestly? I don’t think there would have been much reason to continue the show. They would have gotten together on the Ring, and then what? It’s always been about Clarke and Bellamy, and them being together leaves little story to tell, if we think about it. The whole conflict of season 5 was that they had spent so much time apart that Bellamy had to start thinking with his head (per Clarke’s advice) and they had grown without each other, so they had to take the time to recognize that and be on the same page again. Season 6, they are on the same page, but then Clarke “dies” and Bellamy’s entire story becomes how to get her back. And now in season 7 though it’s not just Bellamy missing, Clarke seems very focused on getting back Bellamy in particular. Sure there’s a lot going on at the same time, but Clarke’s main focus currently is getting back to Bellamy, especially after Bellamy did so much to save her last season (which was like a mere few days ago Sanctum time).
Had Bob not asked to take time off, I think the story would still play out similarly. Maybe we’d see Bellamy a bit more, the way that we saw Danny every now and again in season 4 of TMP and through voiceover text messages to Mindy. But I think this was always going to be what the story looked like. We also have to remember that storytelling on TV and storytelling in other forms are fairly different, since you can’t necessarily have a bunch of long scenes where people just sit and talk about their feelings. That’s boring to watch. I think that’s why we got that Princess Mechanic scene in 7x06 when Raven and Clarke were stuck in the body of that organism and Raven broke down, or the scene in 6x11 where Octavia and Bellamy had a heart-to-heart. Neither of those scenes were very long, but the characters were working towards another goal while also talking through some issues that they were having. There’s different time constraints and factors to consider when writing a scene for TV that you could handle differently in a novel or a fanfic.
None of this is to say that I’ve never taken issue with how the story is told, because that’s not true. I just think that the overarching narrative is about reuniting Bellamy and Clarke, similar to how The Mindy Project’s overarching narrative is about Danny and Mindy growing so that they can be together again. Unlike when I watched season 4 of The Mindy Project, I’m taking the time to watch how the story plays out here, because I spent a lot of time back in 2016 being needlessly angry over something that in retrospect was actually fairly well done given the circumstances. I’m watching what’s presented to me on screen, because that is the story that we’re working with. And I’ll see how I feel about the whole thing once it’s all over. I’m hoping I’ll be satisfied with the ending, but if not, there’s a whole lot of very talented content creators who I know are already geared up to write some fix-it fanfics.

Ooooh okay so I see this going two ways.
Option 1:
Clark, during his first few weeks pre-Superman, had had a once night stand with Maddie and Jack. Soon after Maddie had realised she was pregnant but both she and Jack didn't much care to figure out who the child's father was. It didn't really matter to them either way. Lo and behold none of the Fentons realised that Danny wasn't Jack's biological son.
So Danny upon getting (emotionally) adopted by Martha complains how he already has a dad and how he can regularly kool aid man his way through walls and how his parents regularly do scientific research and invent stuff. But because of reasons he can't say he can't go back.....Martha for her part just sighs at Clark's handling of having a child (did he even know? Was the kool aid man him or someone else?) and welcomes him in. She promises to get everything sorted out for him as soon as her son is back from his trip.
Clark comes back from his deep space mission and hearing an extra heartbeat floats into the barn attic where an extra pair of his clothes is always stashed and 'comes' home. Cue misunderstandings (Clark sticking to his "I don't think I have kids! I've always been careful! I promise Ma!" guns and Danny sticking to his "I swear! I'm telling you this guy isn't my dad! He looks like him sort of but he's not my dad!") Martha during her scheduled phone catch up with Alfred had mentioned the new kid so Bruce isn't too far behind Clark. (He was threatened by Alfred and no one crosses that man if they can help it. After all only a fool would cross the person who single-handedly runs the manor and ensures that everyone's complicated lives don't end up falling apart.)
He does a rapid blood paternity test which reveals that Danny is in fact Clark's child. The revelation has dramatic fallout for everyone. (Clark for his part goes beet red at having to explain to his mother that he once had a threesome with a married couple. He is then also forced to sit through the birds and bees talk with her. Danny needs to come to terms with the fact that his parents had a threesome which resulted in him. That Jack isn't in fact his father. Depending on a good or bad reveal this might add more to his fallout)
Option 2:
Danny after a reveal gone bad was on the run from the Drs. Fenton and GiW. Jazz was too closely monitored by both her parents and the GiW at her college in Gotham to be much help. Ellie was hiding out travelling internationally mainly because Danny hasn't told her yet how bad it's gotten.
During his run he comes across a lab with clones being grown and remembering Ellie he razes the place. There's only one viable clone he finds who's about 6-7 years old. Danny being a kind and soft hearted person cannot leave the kid behind and basically adopts him. So they go around and stick together. Somewhere along the line they cross into Kansas and Danny has them sticking to the outskirts of towns. (it helps that his baby brother is learning to fly too!)
Then they're spotted by Martha while Danny was trying to grab some of the apples from the top of the tree. She wouldn't have noticed if she wasn't used to looking over whenever something floated in her peripheral vision what with Clark having trouble when he was younger. She'd immediately taken the kids in when she saw the similarity between them and Clark. And both flying? Well. Looks like her son needed another talk. Obviously the first one hadn't taken.
Danny suspicious of her doesn't reveal much, but something about her is very calming and yells safeSafeSafeSAFE to him. Time goes on and he thinks that staying here won't be so bad if all they have to do is simple chores in exchange for food and board. Both the boys had looked at each other when Martha asked for names. Danny was so used to calling his brother kiddo that it'd slipped his mind. Whoops?
They sit down with a baby names book and find one that the kid likes. So Danny and Conner spend weeks at the Kent farm and slowly she pulls out the bare bones of the story from them. (they're brothers. Danny has another sibling who's grown from a tube so it's not that strange for him. He's hiding from his parents because they don't like what he became. They don't understand.)
Clark comes back to earth a few weeks after that conversation. The lecture he gets from Martha ("Clark Joseph Kent. I thought I raised you better than this. How could you have a child and leave it to fend for themself?" "Ma? What are you...? Who is that?" "You apparently had a child. A child who's powers kicked in and had to go on the run with his brother as a result. Do you have any idea how hard that must've been?")
Clark is overjoyed at no longer being the last Kryptonian but is absolutely confused because he's never had a child to his knowledge. (insert weird Kryptonian biology and how they're only sexually aroused when they're emotionally invested in their partner) he remembers the whole bird and bees talk.
So he offers to call his friend who can help settle the misunderstanding. (He's happy to have more family. It doesn't matter if they're his kids or siblings. Family is family.) Danny is suspicious and asks immediately who this friend is and how he'll prove it. Clark says it's a friend he knows through his work and he's really good with tests. Danny immediately grabs Conner and turns them both intangible. He says they won't be staying if there's medical tests involved. Clark waves his hands around and says that no the guy is a detective and that's why he knows some basic tests. It's just a few drops of blood and he'll go first of they prefer it.
Danny cautiously makes them tangible again and nods. Conner after spending so much time with Danny sticks to him like a burr. Clark calls Bruce on speakerphone and explains that he might not be the last but they need to do a blood test to confirm. Would he mind helping out?
Robin!Jason in the background can be heard snickering and saying how nice an opportunity this is and how Penny-one was just saying they needed a vacation. Danny and Conner both relax a little on hearing the kid so Clark and Martha sweeten the deal by inviting them down for the weekend and promises of pie.
So Bruce promises to show up the next day, Jay in tow and a paternity blood test kit. "Uh..Bruce. you might need to bring two." Batman's silence (because at that moment he was Batman more than Bruce) was drowned out by Jason's whistle and sniggering, the comment about "fast work" barely completed before Bruce grunted and disconnected.
The next day, Jason and Bruce come in and as promised, Clark goes first. They do a cheek swab and Bruce puts his sample in one side of a machine. Jason who'd sidled up the kids had been explaining what was happening and how it doesn't even feel like much of anything with a check swab. It might tickle a bit if you're really sensitive but that's it. Conner perks up at that and goes first. Danny is still uncertain but he knows enough that cheek swabs won't hurt.
So once the sample is collected, he pulls Conner back to his side and they wait. The test results are......well, chaos is a mild word. Clark pretty much needs to sit down.
Danny watches the reactions of the adults closely but doesn't see much beyond surprise and shock. So after some time passes where Clark is clearly dumbfounded and barely processing anything, he shakes his head at a swab. "He's my brother even if I found him in a lab. It doesn't matter who the parents are - we're sticking together."
Clark has questions and Bruce promises to investigate. He gets the city where Danny found Conner and starts typing away on his laptop. Martha is overjoyed but is absolutely giving Clark a refresher on the birds and bees.
Martha Kent was a smart woman. A strong woman.
She had raised Superman afterall. More importantly she had raised a kind good man. A responsible one.
Maybe not so responsible, or maybe she should have done the birds and bees talk instead of Jonathan.
Cause what else is she supposed to think when she comes across a small boy that looks alot like her Clark and can float.
Or Ma kent comes across a young Danny who floats to grab something on a high shelf. Naturally, this means her son has a child he doesn't know about. (What a time for Clark to be off planet)
( alot of miscommunication and highjinks leads to everyone thinking Clark Fathered a child accidentally)

148. the coo-coo nut grove (1936)
release date: november 28th, 1936
series: merrie melodies
director: friz freleng
starring: peter lind hayes (ben birdie), bernice hansell (dionne quintuplets), tedd pierce (w.c. squeals), danny webb (walter windpipe), the rhythmettes, verna dean (additional voices)
Tumblr media
the cartoon that caused katherine hepburn to watch it 4 times and clark gable twice. an amalgamation of celebrity caricatures, designs courtesy of the great t. hee. see laurel and hardy share a drink, clark gable flap his ears to the beat of edna may oliver’s dancing, w.c. fields (squeals) flirt with katherine heartburn hepburn, and so on.
Tumblr media
a parody of the famed hollywood nightclub the cocoanut grove, we open to a beautiful overlayed pan of the coo-coo nut grove, a nightclub literally nestled in a cluster of coconut trees. the backgrounds are wonderfully stylistic and sharp—not quite art deco, but the same “newness” that page miss glory exuded so well. a zoom in reveals that the red blinking neon light advertising the nightclub is lit up by fireflies, an oldie but goodie.
Tumblr media
arriving to the nightclub itself, we iris in on ben birdie, a caricature of radio personality ben bernie. while he’s giving his trademark catchphrases such as “yowza!”, a mouse caricature of journalist walter winchell pops out of a tuba, holding out a scallion for birdie. “flash! an orchid for you, old mousetrap, from your old pal walter windpipe!” birdie takes care of the pest by blowing into the mouthpiece of the tuba, propelling windpipe across the nightclub. bernie and winchell had a good relationship off the set, but assumed the rules of enemies on bernie’s show. side note, danny webb voices the winchell mouse—he’d go on to provide some background voices for a few 30s shorts, as well as voicing egghead (actually egghead, not elmer!) in daffy duck and egghead.
Tumblr media
while birdie comments that it’s an ill wind, an ill wind, yowza, we get a good look of the patrons in the crowd. comedian hugh hubert is the first celebrity, who giggles and claps, bashfully averting his gaze. as a daffy duck aficionado, i owe a lot to hubert—he’s the one they voiced daffy’s trademark laugh after. thanks, hugh! the table next to him features w.c. squeals and katherine “heartburn” (an obvious play on hepburn.) squeals admires what a beautiful hand she has, promoting her to repeat the boulevardier from the bronx cackle bashfully before glaring at him in disgust. the laugh is more fitting as a horse, for sure! hepburn would be subject to MANY, MANY references in looney tunes shorts, primarily by tex avery. every time you hear a woman say something like “really it is,” that’s a hepburn impression.
Tumblr media
next table over features a crotchety ned sparks, groveling “i go everywhere, i do everything, and i never have any fun.” sparks’ shtick was always playing a miserable, deadpan character. pan up to the coconut treetops (these backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous), where johnny weissmuller is pouring his wife and vedette lupe vélez a glass of wine. i love the bow tie tacked on to his tarzan garb, wonderfully tacky. instead of offering the glass, weissmuller downs it all in one go, beating his chest and doing the tarzan yell that buddy did in buddy of the apes. how i don’t miss you! i’m sure it’s implied, but weissmuller was the original tarzan. even more interesting, he was a gold medal olympic swimmer back in the 20s.
ben birdie introduces “the profile of profiling”, and thus sparks this lovely gag of john barrymore walking through the nightclub, his head at profile. no matter which way his body turns, his head is always at profile. eventually, his head is turned 180 degrees backwards as he sits down at a table. if you look him up, you’ll find that many of his headshots are profiles.
elsewhere, we spot a panicked woman running from some unknown threat. her face is concealed, so we’re unaware as to what caricature she is, but we DO know her pursuer: a bird caricature of harpo marx, galloping behind her and honking a horn. his hat opens to reveal an extending stop sign, and harpo pretends to pull the brakes. the sign switches to go, and harpo shifts back into gear, resuming his galloping routine. the animation is flighty, loose, hilarious, and ridiculous.
back to ben birdie, who moves things along. “and now, let us indulge to a bit of the light fantastic, etcetera, etcetera.” almost immediately, a crowd of couples get up to dance. it seems to me that the animation was reused from another freleng cartoon, i’m a big shot now. cut to another couple in particular, a turtle george arliss and bird mae west. a great pair, seeing as mae west was essentially a sex symbol, and george arliss was much older, being 68 as of 1936. very smooth and fun animation, topped off with west affirming “keep up the good work.”
another warner bros favorite to caricature—laurel and hardy. if my memory serves me correctly, this is the first time we see hardy caricatured as a pig. in many a cartoon, he’d be portrayed as such, often mimicked by porky. these include (but are not limited to) the case of the stuttering pig, you ought to be in pictures (a freleng classic), and the timid toreador. hardy grabs a coconut and signals for laurel to share. they both put their straws in the coconut and drink, and essentially swap themselves. hardy substantially loses weight and turns into laurel, whereas laurel gains substantial weight and turns into hardy. very clever.
Tumblr media
the next act features edna may oliver, who does an elaborate dance routine to “the lady in red”. clark gable in the audience is particularly entranced, flapping his ears to the music (another gable caricature staple.) leon schlesinger himself said after the cartoon’s release, “gable [came to see the film] at least twice, mesmerized by the rhythmic waving of his own ears. that ought to answer any questions about can hollywood stars take it.” schlesinger kept close tabs on who came to see his films, which only makes sense: he worked at chicago’s colonial theater in 1908, keeping an autograph book of all the stars who would happen to visit. during oliver’s dance number, a lanky, rubber hose limbed gary cooper struts through the nightclub, doing his walk that he would feature in many of his cartoons. a trio of monkeys observe from the treetops, one of them declaring “he’s pixilated!”
Tumblr media
next dance number is none other than the dionne quintuplets, voiced by (who else?) berneice hansell, singing a medley of “our old man” and “what’s the matter with father”. hansell’s voice talents are lovely and hilarious as always, and there’s a great little dance interlude as the quints turn around and tap their feet with their butts in the air. just in case you forgot they were babies! by this time, the quintuplets, only 2 years old, already had a movie made about them in early 1936 called “the country doctor”.
back to johnny weissmuller and lupe vélez, who are applauding the act from the treetops. a great scene as weissmuller spots a mouse skittering right by their table and shrieks. the great, mighty tarzan faints at the sight, and vélez instead does her own tarzan cry, grabbing her cowardly husband and swinging across a vine as the mouse skitters under the table.
Tumblr media
back to the mysterious running woman pursued by harpo marx. harpo tackles her, and the woman finally reveals herself to be none other than groucho marx! this gag would be much more notably reused in tex avery’s *hollywood steps out, with clark gable pursuing groucho instead of harpo. i like the inclusion of harpo, it makes the reveal all the more disturbing. harpo, appalled, dashes out of the nightclub while groucho grins.
Tumblr media
the next scene is a more somber mood. teardrops rain on the grass, and a slow pan reveals a tearful helen morgan singing “the little things you used to do”, perched on a piano and wringing a handkerchief. the animation is quite good, with lots subtle head tilts. wallace beery is particularly moved by the music. so moved, in fact, that he grabs a nearby banana hanging from a bunch, squirts out a line on a butter knife like a line of toothpaste, and shoves the knife in his mouth to cope with his heart strings being pulled. harpo marx is also moved, using a windshield wiper from his multipurpose hat to wipe away his tears. edward g. robinson and george raft aren’t particularly moved, chuffing on a cigar and flipping a coin respectively. that is, until, they both break down in sobs and embrace each other—a great mood change and great way to totally shatter the “tough guy” act. i believe raft was also caricatured in ali-baba bound as flipping a coin with his foot (eugh).
Tumblr media
now, the nightclub is totally afloat, caricatures sitting on their tables as the ground is submerged in tears. slowly, the tables begin to drift away in the current, with the george arliss turtle rowing along, using his shell as a boat. and with that, ben birdie signs off.
while this cartoon is dated, sure, i think it’s a cartoon you can enjoy, regardless if you understand the references or not. i certainly didn’t know a good 35% of the caricatures, and had to look them up. but i truly believe that’s part of the fun of it though, and that’s why i love these caricature-centric shorts. you get to explore and really get hands on, you get to research, you get to learn something new. i sure didn’t know that george arliss was born in 1868, and i find that fascinating! i didn’t know that ben bernie and walter winchell played enemies on bernie’s show, but now i do. it’s fascinating! and that’s in part why i love doing these reviews. no matter what, there is always something new to learn. and besides, if anything, you can laugh and admire how the caricatures are drawn, and the backgrounds are just superb. this is definitely a visual centric cartoon, and it constitutes a watch for that alone. i prefer hollywood steps out myself, but this is a good entry, especially for 1936. i say go for it!

Escape Room 123movies Review
Regardless of the banner, there is an astonishing absence of jigsaw astounds in this film. Or on the other hand skeletons, really.
So at the beginning of today, escape room 123movies I took myself to the films and saw Escape Room, which I've been interested about since the trailers were delivered. I love escape rooms, I've played through The Room and every one of its spin-offs on numerous occasions, give me some old fashioned riddle unraveling and I am SO there! While I was anticipating a few panics, I was trusting there wouldn't be anything excessively horrifying since it conveys a PG-13 rating. Ideally there would be more sharp climatic alarms than violent passing scenes, and I was correct!
Tumblr media
(Fun certainty: did you realize that there were two films that turned out in 2017 likewise called Escape Room? I didn't until I was attempting to discover pictures for this film! Evidently, those two motion pictures are… not incredible, however I can't by and by vouch for them.)
THE PLOT
Escape room 123movies begins in, amusingly enough, an escape room! It at first appears as though a richly beautified front room, and everything is quiet until Logan Miller drops through the roof. He's limping, beat-up, and in all out frenzy mode as he totters to a convoluted looking number-labyrinth lock thing on the entryway. He understands that he needs four numbers, however when he pulls on the 1, the divider inverse him begins shutting in. Fantastic. We're in that spot with him as he battles to search for hints to locate the four numbers required as increasingly more of the excellent room gets decimated and squashed behind him. He finds the four numbers required, so he thinks, however they don't work, and we watch as he gradually gets squashed… .. … ..and afterward we flashback to three days earlier. Here we meet three of our fundamental characters, Zoey (played by Taylor Russell), Jason (played by Jay Ellis), and obviously, Ben (played by Logan Miller). If you don't mind, note that Ben appears to be marginally more assembled here, as in, he's not being squashed in an escape room… yet. These three characters are unfathomably unique in relation to one another, and they each get a strange riddle box from somebody they know. The riddle box drives them to Minos Escape Rooms with the guarantee of ~fabulous money prizes~ on the off chance that they can fathom the unsolvable escape room. It is here we meet our other three principle cast individuals: Danny (played by Nik Dodani), Mike (played by Tyler Labine), and Amanda (played by Deborah Ann Woll). After Ben apparently breaks the door handle in the lounge area, the six unfortunates find that the sitting area IS the escape room, and the game has started. The remainder of the film is, you got it, an escape room! We learn all through the remainder of the film more about the characters and why they were picked for this lethal game through shockingly explicit subtleties in all the rooms, and furthermore, who sent them here in any case?
There's a great deal of extremely sullen riddle understanding. Like, a great deal.
THE REVIEW
This film is incredibly fun. That feels wrong to state about a "mental loathsomeness spine chiller," however I swear it is enjoyable. As I would like to think, the film makes a captivating showing of uncovering minor character subtleties all through without dropping the huge bend until the correct second. I love things like this where you sense that you need to focus on everything about you'll miss something and genuinely perhaps you should watch it again to truly get everything?? I live for stuff that way. It was upsetting a result of what was going on and invigorating when something at long last went right. I truly appreciated it all in all, and I think my assessment of the film showed signs of escape room 123movies improvement the more I pondered it a short time later. Those are my preferred sorts of movies, the ones that make you consider them a while later.
Presently it's an ideal opportunity to escape into the following room of this survey, (I don't know whether I'll have the option to keep up the play on words game for each audit, fam) so Spoiler Warning currently in actuality, and I truly suggest for this film you see it first totally ignorant concerning any spoilers or significant plot details!\
this room? This room directly here?? This is the most noticeably terrible room, undoubtedly
THE MUSIC
The music for this film was extremely novel when I saw it, and it's one explanation I need to watch it once more, since I'm certain there were prominent music minutes I missed. The score truly set up for anxiety and anticipation, and it helped me to remember the music played in each film where somebody's attempting to hack into a PC under a period limit. You know the one. Prominent music minutes incorporate the initial tune that sets the room we see Ben fall into, the melody that plays during the montage of Ben, Jason, and Zoey attempting to understand their riddle boxes, the end credits music, and obviously, that AWFUL contorted version of Petula Clark's "Downtown" that plays as a clock in the topsy turvy Pool Room, presented previously. Awful room. Most noticeably terrible room. Loathe it.
Tumblr media
Zoey is all that is unadulterated and acceptable known to mankind
THE CHARACTERS
By and large, there were a ton of affable characters in Escape Room, which is somewhat lamentable in light of the fact that a significant number of them don't, well, escape. All the characters were one of a kind, and I acknowledged how every one of them had various responses to the stressors in each room, as indicated by their character. Zoey is my supreme top choice, she was a joy to watch the whole film, and I so valued her being the outright brainiac of the gathering. More virtuoso WOC jobs in films, it would be ideal if you There was additionally an extraordinary character circular segment for Ben, which I incredibly delighted in, and there was a great deal of heart given to both Mike and Amanda too. Sadly, Danny isn't around sufficiently long to truly be created, and Jason ends up being a survivalist butt nugget with a significant predominance complex. Yet, for the most part, you felt for all the characters, and you needed to see them escape, which implied that their demise scenes for the most part hit you similarly as hard as they hit the survivors. Danny's passing is a stunner for every one of them, particularly Ben, and the manner in which Amanda's demise hits Zoey is grievous to observe however it puts Zoey into in-your-face survivor boss mode, which is entirely incredible. This implies, nonetheless, that Zoey is resolved to cut down the degenerate AF organization behind Minos escape room 123movies, which cool, yet in addition based off that last scene, NOOOOOOOOO!!
This scene fools you into deduction everybody will be fine.
THE SCENERY
Presently when I initially observed the trailer for Escape Room, I believed that each room would be intended for one of the characters explicitly. That is not really the situation, yet each room is definitely unique and extraordinarily fatal, with character-explicit subtleties woven-all through. They're totally structured so that you could see them being a real escape room in reality, with the exception of they all have an ACTUAL fatal curve, rather than entertainers and phony results. The little subtleties were extremely sharp and in some cases sort of tragic. The fire and stopped vent slither set off Amanda's PTSD in a truly gutting scene and prologue to her character. The tusk trophies in the room presented over each spoke to one of the notable reindeer from the "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" tune, which was unpleasant for Ben due to his flashback and harsh for the crowd since that is unmistakably intimating that the reindeer have been butchered which like, impolite, keep Christmas separate from this?? My least most loved room is the cold winter horrendousness essentially in light of the fact that it was pulverizing watching them cooperate to both arrangement with Danny's demise and attempt to dissolve the key required out of the focal point of a strong square of ice while they're sharing ONE coat among them. Ugh. In any case, a nearby second is that dumb topsy turvy pool room. Plan shrewd it's extraordinary, however generally? Detest it. Abhor what occurs. Probably not.
Goodness hello look! There are skeletons in this film!
THE TWIST
Alright, on the off chance that you've perused this far and haven't seen the film yet, trust me when I state you actually most likely wanna see it first before I proceed.
For every other person? Here we go.
Escape Room has really, two or three turns when you consider it. The underlying turn is, obviously, the way that all the risky snares are in reality genuine and dangerous. The stakes are REAL high.
The following turn comes in the room equipped like an emergency clinic. Each character is attracted to a particular bed, set up in an unexpected way. It turns out, each character invested energy sooner or later in the emergency clinic, and each bed is an ideal amusement of their room. Through conversation, they discover that every one of them was the sole overcomer of something horrendous that transpired (we get little blazes about what these occasions could be all through the film). Zoey makes sense of that whoever is running the escape room must need to see who, among them, is the "most fortunate of the fortunate."
After a couple more rooms and a couple more passings, we find Ben, who did undoubtedly endure getting squashed in the sumptuous lounge escape room 123movies (so I surmise in fact he simply didn't get squashed). He stumbles into a type of stockroom with an enormous screen that shows every one of their photos, and every one of them, put something aside for his, have a huge red "X" up and over. In his image, he is marked the "Champ." A hairy British man goes into the room to uncover the following turn: this whole thing was set up by a gathering of exhausted, rich individuals who are entranced by the human will to endure. English Beard declares that people have consistently adored viewing different people in close demise circumstances, and they have run these escape rooms on various occasions, similar to an investigation, to attempt to make sense of what it is that makes up a definitive victor (sidenote: notice how this is likewise sort of a burrow at the crowd to the film?
