#ectoplasm is kryptonite in the dc universe

An idea came to me reading a fic where Danny was a kryptonian. What if Amity Park instead of being a city in the USA on Earth was once a city on Krypton (in what would be a kryptonian version of early 21st century or at least about 100 years before the planet blew up). Basically almost everything that happened in cannon DP happened and everything is mostly the same but with a more alien then earth tone to it.
After Phantom Planet Danny's parents except him being part ghost, the government overturn the Ecto Acts, and he able to finish high school and goes on to college after which he is happily welcomed to for work for KASA (Krypton Aeronautics and Space Administration). He becomes an Astronautical engineer. Danny is in his early thirties when he is testing out a new experimental space ship engine for KASA. While doing a flight test Danny's ship losses signal and no one can find it (kind of what happened in the show Farscape).
100s of years go by Krypton explodes baby Kal-El is sent to Earth where he grows up to be Superman. The JL suddenly get a signal/warning about some alien tech on the edge of the solar system. They send one of the Green Lanterns to take a look, where they report a spaceship dead in space. They don't expect any life forms but surprise because of his ghost half Danny was in a sort of suspended animation. He is brought back and wakes up in the Watch Tower.
Just Random ideas...
Kryptonite is the crystalized form of ectoplasm because of this Danny is not effected by it.
Danny's kryptonian name is Daniel Fen-Ton
The phantom zone projector was originally called the Fen-Ton zone projector or is was based off a Fen-Ton gadget.
Years after Danny disappears Krypton starts turning on ghost again, so the town of Amity, which now has a symbiotic relationship with ghost, vote to pull the whole town into the Ghost Zone. So it is not blown up like the rest of the planet though Danny does not know this in the beginning.
Danny has an easier time learning to use Earth technology then he does the Kryptonian technology in Superman's Fortress.
Danny also has slightly easier time when getting the regular Kryptonian power set due to the yellow sun because he went through something similar when getting his ghost powers.
Danny adopts Connor almost immediately. Maybe during Danny's time there was laws about cloning and clone rights on Krypton. Also while Connor is not a replacement he sort of fills in the void of losing Ellie.
While Superman has no idea who Danny is, Kara/Supergirl has a faint idea because he was briefly mentioned in her Krytonian History class. Also she is happy to have someone who can natively speak the kyrptonian language even if it has older vocabulary. Don't get her wrong its great to speak it with Kal-El but he learned it later in life.
Holly char this is amazing!
How many people will have a stroke when they see Danny casually pick up a piece of kryptonite? Batman? His normal Kryptonian contingency plan won't work. Luthor? There's a version of superman IMMUNE to Kryptonite. Clark? What the hell do you mean you can touch kryptonite
I think after Danny explains everything about his past and species so many people are going to just...give up. Hahaha a stronger version of superman who isn't effected by kryptonite, goodbye world
Connor will be ecstatic, Danny will do ALL the dad stuff, teaching him their language, proper training, engineering lessons and you bet he's going to use jazz's psychiatrist stuff on this kid
Danny's probably going to get mega-depressed, all his hard work breaking the racism against ghosts only for that to come back a few years after he left? And he can't even fix it again because their world went bye-bye
Also- here me out
Co-pilot Valerie

dp x dc prompt #42
When Danny joined the JL, they added the list of substances and weapons he was weak to to the system, with all of Batman’s contingency plans, just like every member of the league. They worked their way through testing other things that had the possibility of affecting Phantom, just to be safe, but there’s some things that nobody thinks to prepare for.
Danny is sent to deal with a large chunk of Kryptonite that crashed on earth and plowed straight through a city. He was closest and the fastest moving hero available.
When Phantom stopped responding on the comms, the heroes noticed immediately.
Nobody expected Kryptonite to drive ghosts absolutely mad.

Ectoplasm being the universal green thingy that causes anything inherently superpowered/magical in DP x DC is so funny because imagine how absolutely overpowered (but stupid) Danny is. Like just imagine him making ectoplasmic ice shards but turns out that's what Kryptonite actually is. A God damn block of ectoplasmic ice that doesn't melt. Him just waving it around like "oh look I made an Ice duck :D" And next thing you know Superman is benched. Green lantern's ring? Oh, please. The whole lantern organization (primarily the green corps) is basically powered by the infinite realms.

Little things I don't know what to do with
1. Phantom: Just because you're my dad doesn't mean you get to tell me what to do!
Nightwing: *just now learning he has a clone son and is nearly hysterical* Actually, it does!
Killer croc: *still holding Phantom by the neck but is now awkward about it* Uh, is this a bad time?
2. Tim goes undercover as Alvin Draper in infiltrate this new and very successful gang thats popped up in Gotham only to start falling for the mysterious leader Danny Nightingale aka a mage going by the name Hex
3. Future 7ft tall Phantom bursts into present day Gotham City like a meteor. Curled into a ball, he desperately tries to keep his unconscious husband safe from the flames and impacts as they are thrown through several buildings before creating a crater in one of the local parks
By some miracle his hubby is safe and Danny passes out once he sees some of the local bats approaching via rooftops
4. Danny flirts with Spoiler by bringing her wierd stuff thats purple. What makes it interesting is that none of this stuff should be purple
5. Danny accidentally ends up in the DC universe via ghost zone portal after he gets injured by one of his parents failed experimental weapons and it destabilizes him. He fights Superman thinking he's possessed and hes actually creaming Superman pretty bad since Clark can't hit what isn't tangible but oh boy, it can hit him.
Anyway the other supers come out to save Superman and began ganging up on Phantom.
Danny, fully convinced they're all possessed, opens a portal and manages to get them all in using Looney Toons Trickery promising to come back and "free the hosts" once he gets a more stable portal. Danny can't go through it since he's so unstable and has to look for some way to fix himself before it becomes a (after)life-threatening issue.
Turns out Ectoplasm is somehow worse for a Kryptonian than Kryptonite and they have no powers what so ever within the Ghost Zone and everything aches.
Oh.
And they're basically living out every creepypasta/horror movie ever in this creepy hell dimension.
Fun times.

Highly recommend keeping an eye on this series. It is focused on General Zod's son and Sinestro's son. Both want revenge on their Dads. Both want to leave a mark on the universe.
Dp x DC fans especially might want to keep an eye on it. Imagine the son of a yellow lantern meeting Danny in ghost form and mistaking him as a Green Lantern. Or in a world that ectoplasm is similar to kryptonite how would Lor-Zod handle a being that is the physical form of a major weakness.

i love your art, especially of gentleman ghost!! if you don't mind me asking, i was curious what your opinion on dc universe ghost rules might be. mechanics and the like, what they can and can't do, etc. i'm working on a batman villain ghost oc and i have a few ideas but i'd love to hear what you think!
imo, you can go HOG WILD with what ghosts can and can’t do. here i present to you a ramble about DC ghosts, headcanon and canon dueling together for dominance:
this got long so i’ll put it under a cut
possession? gentleman ghost can’t do it (or at least, doesn’t do it very often) but some other ghosts can. (IE, deadman)
telekinesis? In some versions, gentleman ghost is telekinetic
teleportation? yep, in some versions
The simple rules of internal consistency to my version of DC ghosts essentially boils down to:
1.) they’re made of ectoplasm, and it’s what they form their weaponry and clothing out of, unless they voluntarily wear a human item.
1a.) ( as a small caveat to that, I don’t think it’s right that ghosts should be able to pick up a non-spectral item and take it with them through a wall. otherwise... characters like gentleman ghost could just steal whatever thing they’re after and go intangibly into the ground and escape, and suddenly the hero’s plans are a hundred percent foiled )
2.) they don’t need to eat, drink, sleep, or breathe; but they do experience pain and pleasure, and as a hold-out from life, will probably make vocalizations like they do breathe- ie, clearing one’s throat, grunting in pain, sighing, inhaling sharply when annoyed- and characters like craddock, who are partially invisible, will flicker into visibility when hurt.
They have all of their senses, unless you don’t want them to. my craddock has perfectly fine senses of touch, sight, smell, and sound, but can’t taste anything at all. you can mix-and-match. play around with it! they’re dead! maybe they’ve lost something over the years!
3.) WEAKNESSES. Since characters like gentleman ghost have the potential to be so powerful (in his various canons, gentleman ghost has: flight, intangibility, invisibility, telekinesis, body possession, no need to rest/eat/drink/breathe, can summon weapons that don’t need to be reloaded AND a fucking horse, can teleport, has interdimensional travel(!?!), enhanced speed, strength, and regeneration, “spectral energy projection”, and control over the undead.) they obviously need some weaknesses.
The tried and true standard I shoot for when talking about DC ghost weaknesses is nth metal; I usually depict it as hurting quite a bit when touching the skin of a ghost, and makes it impossible for them to concentrate on anything other than maintaining a solid form. IE, gentleman ghost is in so much pain wearing nth metal handcuffs he can’t spare thoughts about the whole corpse face thing, lest he want to disintegrate into ectoplasmic goop. I’d imagine as an extension of this it’s impossible for a character who’s a possessor to take control of a host body that has nth metal attached to themself, because it’ll burn the ghost.
I think the singular Kryptonite is probably good enough for most ghosts, but in various comics Craddock can’t harm virgins or those of royal blood with his weaponry, having instead to rely on non-spectral objects to hurt them. You could try that, depending on whom this OC is being pitted against.
( Magic is also a good tool against a ghost. )
Hmm, what else...
4.) You can make your ghost appear as just about anything you’d like. Some ghosts are pretty and flawless as they were before their death, and some sort of... age with their corpse. It depends on the character, I suppose!
I think that’s about everything. Ghosts in general are fairly flexible things, since, y’know... they don’t exist.
Thank you for the question!

Superman and ecto-contaminated food
Danny fucked up
He fucked up reeeeeaaallly bad
So it was 3:00am and he'd just got back from a night of ghost fights, he went into the kitchen to get a midnight snack
However it was today that all the contaminants of the fridge got to ecto-contaminated and came to life
Danny in his sleep deprived brain, accidentally took this as another ghost fight...but
Rather than just crush them...
He accidentally opened a portal...to an unknown location because danny can't remember what he was thinking about when he opened the portal...
Fuck he's gunna need clockworks help
.
.
.
Im metropolis superman is a mix of confusion and concern when a portal ripped open over him
And...glowing living(?) Food fell through.
Angry living food apparently because the second they( it?) Saw him the food banded together like a robot and started to fight him
Oh...and the living food is also MADE of kryptonite
.
.
.
He's even more confused when 2 weeks later, a teenager swung in(literaly, where was that a vine?)
Used a net launcher with the name "FENTON" on it, to catch all the food
Ripped open a portal that lools like the one the living food came through,
And disapered
Oh...and the kid didnt have a heart beat
Wtf
