Fallout Show Spoilers

Oh I never posted again about the Fallout show.

I liked it, it was a pretty good show and despite some reservations I have about them in regards to things like nuking Shady Sands and reducing members of the NCR to a Raider gang- allying with a violent raider gang would have gotten all of them a bullet to the skull by my OC Kars with no explanation.

Plus there was the implication that Vault Tec started the war- which I do hope is never really revealed as I think it's very important to never reveal who actually did drop the first bomb. Nationalistic and Jingoistic fever leading to a massive war based purely off paranoia is an important part of Fallout and I hope they don't firmly state that this faction caused it.

Personally I like to think that every single individual capable of firing nukes hit the button at the exact same time across the world. Make it literally all their faults. It'd be funny too.

I also personally hope that the canon New Vegas route is Wildcard. It would make perfect sense why New Vegas looks kinda dilapidated, as despite loving that route I am in no way under and impression that it's the worst route to take for a stable and prosperous Vegas. House is obviously technically the best despite him being a over-controlling dick, NCR would lead to that same bureaucratic nonsense that results in bigotry and shit despite it going pretty well for most, and the Legion is the Legion.

Also it would be funny for Hank to arrive in Vegas- try to be the big bad, and immediately get shot by the Courier for interrupting their Caravan game or something. Same with the the rest of the cast, as we all know that the Player Character's are just Built Different™.

I don't really like the idea they keep shoving that the Brotherhood is the most stable influence in the Wasteland too- personally I don't like any of the West Coast Branches and in my own OC lore, Miles the Lone Wanderer left the East Coast after all the political bullshit got too much to bear. I liked Fallout 3's Brotherhood.

In my Fallout 4, the Sole Survivor, Railroad, and the Minutemen wiped out both the Institute and Brotherhood. So I don't like Fallout 4's version.

I like Fallout's post-post apocopyles, the idea that people of the Wasteland don't care about the Old World too much and want to build a new world without the shackles of the Old World tying them down. To keep reducing them to insane people cobbling stuff together out of scrap is kinda tiring. That said- there still should be people like that, the world is almost dead in places, a sense of despair should be there too. But to think that everyone that didn't come out of a Vault is incapable is dumb.

And the best scene in the entire show is the bombs dropping- I LOVE anytime they show it in the series. It's just always such a sense of despair and realization that the world is effectively lost for at least a couple dozens years.

Ranking mxtx couples by whether or not I think they'd be good parents

Wangxian: tried and tested good dads. I wish them luck with the whole “trying to get wwx pregnant” thing 

They have some shit to work through, but after that I think they'd be fine (A)-

Ling Wen/ Bai Jin: if we're just going off the original publication, I would put them in a much lower tier, but since the revised edition added that thing about them raising orphans together and said orphans turning out alright before unfortunate circumstances, I'm putting them up here. I think they'll be alright once they work through the miscommunication

Xiao Xingchen/ Song Lan: They obviously have a lot of trauma they're working through, but I'd like to think they and A-Qing will be a loving family in the long run 

One of them would be a good parent, the other wouldn't be a bad parent (B)-

Jiang Yanli/ Jin Zixuan: there's no canon reason for me putting them this low. Jin Zixuan just gives off a mediocre parent vibe to me (and we all know Jiang Yanli is the best)

Yushipei: Yushi Huang has good mom energy, and Pei Ming has been shown to be a not terrible mentor. I'd want the misogyny fully beaten out of him with a mace before I'd think he should have kids of his own though 

Lang Qianqiu/ Little Guy: at the very least, they're making sure Guzi is fed, clothed, washed, vaccinated, and has access to education. Neither of them know what they're doing, but I think Little Guy is good at faking it. I wish them luck in their upcoming custody battle  

You know what, surprise me/ I'll hear you out (C)-

Bingqiu: My first instinct is “no, do not bring kids into this,” but then I remembered tharnShen Qingqiu has a surprisingly decent track record? Like, Ning Yingying and Ming Fan both turned out a lot more health than they did in the original novel, and though I wouldn't call him in a good place, Binghe is doing a lot better than Bingge. The wild card for me here is Luo Binghe because I have no idea how he'd be with kids

Quanyin: Yin Yu had a decent track record until he was pushed into snapping. I think rn, he needs a couple centuries of being a babygirl before he's ready to parent again. No idea how Quan Yizhen would do though 

Born to “dual income, no kids, rich uncles/aunts” (D)-

Fengqing: Feng Xin is canonically a bad dad. I know he's working on it, but it is what it is. Mu Qing has been shown to be decent with kids, but I think he’d have a melt down if he had to deal with the mess constantly. 

Hualian: I mean, Xie Lian has raised three kids at this point and one of them became a god, another became state preceptor and then sorta complicit in a genocide, and one became god AND committed genocide + he babysat a ghost king for months and didn't even realize that's what he was because it was a miracle if he remembered to feed him… so, a mixed bag. Hua Cheng may be schrodinger’s child hater, but I'm intrigued by the idea of him raising kids just because I want to know how his own childhood would influence his parenting abilities. They should probably just stick to babysitting for now though 

Mingling: Liu Mingyan is too busy writing gay porn to be dealing with kids, and I just can't imagine Sha Hualing as a mom

Beefleaf: Do I need to explain this one?

Mobeishang: Shang Qinghua should not be put in any position where he has to teach someone about consent (Binghe’s early attempts at flirting being a prime example of why that's a bad idea). I also think Mobei Jun is still working on the whole “why hitting people is not cool” thing. 

QiJiu: I think the original timeline is a prime example of how they're just not in a place to be raising kids 

Jun Wu/ Mei Nianqing: Xie Lian would like a refund on his adopted father figures. They had one kid and he only made it to age 20 because he was cursed to not die

Wild Life finale spoilers: It's seriously so tragic that the interesting themes and drama Wild Life was leading up to came to such a full-stop after struggling to get off the ground with all the hampering from the gimmicks

This isn't me being a girlie kicking my feet at yuri, I'm genuinely upset that Gem and Pearl didn't end up reaching any real conclusion or even any development, and based on what CC Pearl has been saying, I cant help but feel that things just didn't end up playing out the way she wanted. Remember when she said she had "plans" way back in episode 1? It feels like she's desperately trying to kickstart this at several points and especially in the last episode, only to come out of it calling herself and her finale pathetic. And that's just one example of a storybeat I wish were given the chance to go somewhere. I think what exemplifies this whole point well is Scar's rollercoaster, which didn't get a chance to be built till the finale, and even then it failed to kill anyone (aside from zombie Skizz) like he'd wanted since episode 2 before his own unceremonious death

This isn't the fault of any CCs but I do feel like the gimmicks being so intrusive can't be understated, there's nothing wrong with them in a vacuum but for anyone including the CCs seeking out a Life Series experience it's an obstacle. I'm happy for the player who won but I'm so sad that of all seasons they win the one with the least tension or meaningful viewer retention or investment in the characters. To call it underwhelming would be putting it kindly. In the end this has all just felt like bare explorations of interesting themes being presented and done, the series is over now. Nothing about Wild Life will keep me awake at night like the previous seasons aside from what COULD have been and that's really, really sad to me

okay. under the assumption that namemc spoilers are a troll, i think i have my final wildcard prediction:

gem and pearl said (paraphrasing) that the mobs were all weird and that wasn't really the wildcard nor a spoiler. it's the last episode, so presumably grian didn't want everyone to die to random wildcard effects (some people was probably fine)

so my prediction is decaying/corrupting world. something about the world is falling apart. maybe gravity changes? blocks getting replaced? shrinking world border? idk exactly but i feel like this would be fun for a couple of reasons

a sense of finality to the season. it has to end here because the world is literally falling apart

a deadline. its got to be tempting for the cc's to drag out the last session and try and gear up/prepare/get enough content. this puts a hard clock on the season

a strangely thematic ending (imo). this world was weird and wild. things happened that were not supposed to happen. eventually all of that energy had to break and the world broke too

the fanart would fuck. just. so hard. after a season of ridiculousness, the drama artists deserve to go ham

anyways even if this isn't the wildcard, im going to hc the server corrupting as the season ends. a treat for me

it’s kinda funny to me how that dumb scene in kiwami 1 of majima getting shot and left for dead in the harbor was basically just added as a half-assed way to explain majima not being around for a bit of the plot, but they accidentally(?) just made it seem like start of a chain reaction where majima ended up feeling slighted and heartbroken after being abandoned like that and then lashed out about it via smashing a big truck into the building kiryu was in. and yeah that isn’t inherently a romantic thing as-is but then they go and add the part where majima grabs a hostess and performatively hits on her as in-kiryu’s-face as possible, she says she’s already in love with someone, and majima lets her go immediately, no questions asked, making a big fucking point of it just to say see THAT kiryu? I appreciate when people are HONEST about their FEELINGS. people who won’t just BACKSTAB someone who CARES about them to save themselves. is that so crazy kiryu?? huh??? anyway make it up to me get down here and fight me right fucking now

If anything there might be a rule put in next session where everyone gets 1 life back cause it feels bad especially for those who died because of the snails water breathing mechanic

yeah, my only worry is that... the mechanic was put there on purpose? so it feels a bit iffy that they'd retcon something like that. I understand that the snails not swimming/going through water to follow the players could definitely have been some sort of mistake with the pathfinding ai, but the drowning mechanic wasn't the sort of thing that could happen on accident lol
