Are you worried that Omar's gig isn't sold out? Will he get more gigs if he can't sell out venues? Maybe a bit smaller venue at first would have been better.
No I’m not worried. He has sold pretty well in all sections it seems. Enough to get a good atmosphere and energy at the venue. Ofc it would have been fun if it had been sold out already but looking at other artists, besides the absolute biggest ones in Sweden, he is doing well, and good enough I think. It’s not until Feb 17 so he can still sell more tickets. Hopefully Så mycket bättre will give him a boost in Sweden.
You can also see some of the other artists in Så mycket bättre also book shows. Wannadies with Pär Wiksten (also in SMB) has much less sales for example at Cirkus. Still some time to go.
And I like that he is bold and brave and go after his dreams, better to take risks and chances and try. But who knows what’s best, a smaller venue would have been sold out by now. If that would have been most important to him.
Hopefully he will do festivals maybe in the summer? He needs to get out and play more also at smaller places. Hopefully it will come when festivals starts. His Swedish audience isn’t big enough yet for a tour for him I think. But again, let’s see if SMB makes people let him in to their hearts and music streaming. And that he get air time at radio.
And what I love with this concert is that many of his hard core fans will be there that have longed for a full- length concert. This event will be special for him,and for us, and he will get a lot of love and the energy at the venue will be fantastic I think.

Well, nothing like channeling Christmas a little early . . .
Gets it all over and done with . . .
A frightfully post-post modern Christmas it is too . . .
So many twists and references . . .
I suppose I would have to watch it frequently for several decades and really do my homework to catch them all . . .
But . . .
That’s Hollywood . . .
Particularly during Christmas madness . . .
Enjoy . . .

Wiksten Haori
Pattern: Haori by Wiksten (Medium length, XS size) Fabrics: Balboa Nautical Short Strokes (Robert Kaufman), Essex Yarn Dyed Flax Linen (both purchased from Fat Quarter Shop) Fiber: Linen/Cotton blend
This jacket came together incredibly quickly. I was bracing myself for it to be tough - the thought of making a lined jacket was daunting - but this was the easiest thing I’ve sewn so far, with the exception of attaching the collar, which gave me some problems. There’s one little corner that got kind of bunched up and I can’t decide if I should try to fix it or not. Whether I wear it with the blue or beige side facing, you won’t see that mistake since the collar folds over it... but I know it’s there.
I also finally found a good home for this little patch of Palestinian embroidery that I had. It came attached as a pocket on a t-shirt that I bought a few years ago in Jordan... but the shirt was too small and shrunk even more in the wash. I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it, so I finally used a seam ripper and took the embroidery off the shirt, ditched the t-shirt, and rehomed it here. I’m not from the Middle East, but my husband’s heritage is Palestinian and it felt important to honor that part of our lives, even if we don’t live there anymore.
I would totally make this again - now that I’ve done it once, I could probably whip this up in an afternoon, especially if I didn’t do the extra quilting on the collar. I could see making the long version in wool or flannel for fall - that sounds like the coziest thing ever.

Sewing || my newest #wikstenjacket made after my last workshop teaching it! It's the short version, size XS. I used a wool polyester outer fabric with atelier brunette rayon viscose - Posie green 😍 lining. The changes I made were the pockets and my collar is half the size of the original. I love it, it's so squishy. . Working on finishing projects that have been lurking. It’s been hard to get any work done because, well, you know... baby. Just completed little romper/overalls the other day. I’ve been working on them since fall. This hat was 3/4 finished for a couple of weeks, it feels good to have another project completed. Plus L is going to look SO cute in this hat (which she will probably grow out of in like a week 😒)!!! . . . #handknit #handknithat #knitting #socute #baby #babyhat #wiksten #finished #finishedproject #projectcomplete #busyhands #gettingshitdone #formybaby

Wiksten tank #3! This one is special - my last visit to Vancouver I went to Dressew with my dear friend Monique. We both bought this fabric to be shirt twins! Am loving the contrasting bias tape around the arm and neck holes - will definitely be doing that in future shirts!

An outfit I’ve worn a lot during quarantine. Anyone else ratchet the cozy up to 11 in the past year? For those crafty people: the top is a Wiksten Tova, and the sweater is Boardwalk by Brooklyn Tweed.

I’m going out for drinks and had @jrmcclurg take a few quick shots of this denim #wikstenkimono I whipped up today! I’ve been meaning to make this pattern forever! Feels good to start a project and finish it in time to wear it in the evening! And this almost never happens to me. Loved the pattern! Made from 10oz Robert Kaufman denim. Unlined and all seams flat felled. I’ve been playing around with sewing true flat felled seams. Maybe I’ll write more about it later if anyone is interested. Super fun project! Thanks for creating this great pattern @shopwiksten ❤️ Also wearing my #persephonepants (of course). . . . . . #wikstenkimonojacket #wiksten #handmadewardrobe #sewing #sewcialists #indiesewingpattern #indiesewing https://www.instagram.com/p/BoNWpu_BdBt/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xkrxhrlyle09

Who do you hope he interprets in the last episode?
1st: Mapei
2nd: Staffan
3rd: ?
We have Marit Bergman, Peg Parnevik, Pär Wiksten, and Ellen Krauss to choose between.
I somehow don’t think it will be Peg. To similar. And for no good reason I don’t think it will be Pär lol. Hmm I think Marit or Ellen. But Ellen’s best songs are already made so I think Marit.
“Let me tell you about the one I love” by Ellen has a beautiful lyrics and a friend had high hopes he would do that one. And it had been amazing to hear him do a version of that. Now I can’t see him doing any other Ellen song. Maybe it will be “this is the year” by Marit Bergman. I stick by that. Would fit his life atm.
The Ellen song is about her making a song about the women she loves. May I sing about the one I love without people not approving of” Imagine an Omar version with Swedish lyrics 🥲. Listen to it!
Now a straight person did it and the beautiful powerful message got lost.

I also really really want to make a haori or a hanten. Everyone is going nuts over the Wiksten one, but Beth found pamphlets on drafting traditional Japanese clothes in a box of books and gave them to me. It’s rectangles, suckers!!!!!! Beautiful beautiful rectangles!!!!!
There’s one for a yukata too but I feel like that’s pushing the “white Minnesotan loves traditional Japanese clothing” a little far. Maybe just at home

Sewing || another Wiksten jacket taught, another wiksten jacket done for me! Ha! A couple adjustments: took the seam allowance at 5/8" than a regular 3/8" because I just wanted a little more fitted size. I originally have my pattern traced at XS. I also narrowed the collar in half! Super happy with the results and so happy I used that lining! × Main Outer Fabric: Twill coating from Designer Fabrics on Queen St. in Parkdale. Lining: Unknown (probably Polyester) fabric from a tiny fabric/alterations shop in Manila, Philippines Sizing: XS, Length: Long × #rickracktextiles #rickrackstudio #rickrackmakes #cleverclasses #rickrackyyc #rickracktextilesworkshops #rickracktextilesclass #yycsewing #yycsews #calgarysews #calgarysewing #rickrackworkshops #calgarysewingworkshops #calgarysewingclasses #wiksten #wikstenjacket #sewbabysew #imadethis #stayinghome #makersgonnamake https://www.instagram.com/p/B97em5QArry/?igshid=rllxk44hy7dg

Know I’m kind of late to the party as you uploaded the Coloring Pixel video awhile ago, but... They recently did another free update (The book is named Community) with additional pictures and there is now a fan made Septic Sam!
It’s called Eye In Jar, by Wiksten
I know you’ve been super busy lately and thought this might put a smile on your face!
Thank you for being your legendary positive self, and don’t forget to take time for yourself every so often!

Hiya! I just saw your post about quilted jackets and saw you mentioned sewing a pink tamarack jacket! That sounds amazing, do you have pictures of it?
Here she is - the Tamarack is obvs a longer jacket pattern out of the envelope, but I cropped it specifically so it’d fit under a leather or bomber jacket. The pink double-gauze is an extremely low quality eBay purchase, sadly, but the lining is a reused old bedsheet (so smooth!). The combo feels puffy, comfy, and soft. Mine has no closures, it’s just open. I highly rec Grainline Studios dressmaking patterns in general - good, easy-to-follow instructions, and they post tutorials and sewalongs. The Tamarack is intended to be quilted, so all the instructions lead you through it, and all the versions online are such fun to scroll through if you’re after quilted jackets.
Other options where people customise from a basic ‘non-quilted’ pattern, and get their quilt on anyway: The ‘Bernadette’ from Republique du Chiffon is also a good pattern for a small bolero style quilted jacket, I’m toying with making a quilted Merchant and Mills ‘Foreman’ jacket, but the Wiksten ‘Haori’ pattern is basically my gold standard for larger, bulky, “bundled-up” quilted styles. I’ve made 2 (but not quilted). The #WikstenHaori IG tag is particularly delightful for finding people’s quilted versions.
#sissitempete#dressmaking#replies#taking up dressmaking as an adult is something i have zero regrets about - me and my basic john lewis janome are going places
