I have a question as a humble anon. Im curious but, how do you feel about him as a character? And how AOT ended? I feel like your answer will be fun to hear. :) I had mixed feelings but idk. Seeing him made go "oh no" because like, I forgot the existed, lol sorry but also because of all the infighting that happened in the fandom. So I was wondering if you had any thoughts?

{{ Oof. Okay, so--I think I'm not the best person to ask about this because when THAT happened in the fandom, I was highly confused as to why people hated it. I legit didn't understand. I had to go back and re-read the manga and I still didn't understand why people were pissed? But looking back on it, I can see it. Before I continue on that point, I'll answer you:

I adore Eren. He's my poor little meow meow. My smol angry husbando. He's a complex, traumatized, aggressive, violent fucker. I love him. Many of my current muses are on the spectrum of 'ready for violence for whatever reason'. I think it's okay to like him. Folks don't owe you a ten page essay rife with sources as to why they like or don't like a character. Moral judgements shouldn't be made about what piece of fiction someone engages with; you're not their parent and shaming isn't cool, whether you're fine with what they like or not. Very rarely will you change their mind, and instead of blocking them/moving on, you're just making yourself upset/creating an unsafe/unwelcomed environment from those who think and engage with the source material differently from you. Putting the rest under a read more because spoiler territory.

With that said, the ending was fine--I quite liked it! It's tragic and sad for sure, but I had no illusions about Attack on Titan ending horrifically. It's a dark fantasy story that began with what's left of humanity defending itself from flesh-eating monsters picking them off one by one. If . . . you thought a story like that would have a happy ending (or would have romance in it--a complaint I saw in many, many places), I have to ask why. Why is that where your mind is when there's death and destruction on every page? Then the plot twist--Titans are actually people, and they were created and planted in strategic places around the world because of [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS]. It's so fucked. You'd be lucky if your favorite character survived to the END. (Which, didn't happen for me. As I said, Eren gets love around here because I adore how layered he is. I did mourn another character who died earlier, though. And Eren's response to her fate broke my heart; yet another thing the fandom twisted around and made into something it's not). Point is--there is no real 'moral lesson' to AOT. It's a dark story made to entertain. The theme is "senseless violence begets senseless violence". It's funny because I was talking about this recently with the Eren I write with (@scarlxtleaves). Isayama himself in many interviews stated he just made it because he wanted to. Many times he was pressed for an answer and that's what he kept saying. There was one interview I remember where he did give a 'proper' answer (a generic answer about hope/optimism/determination, I think? Don't quote me on that), but it was because he was pressed for one--as if people couldn't just take him at his word. It's a bit sad, honestly. Not everything needs to be so deep--which brings me back to the fandom.

I think many people took the ending out of context, Eren out of context and used the manga as a way to attack Isayama. Many people were upset their ships didn't happen, some felt betrayed that Eren turned out be the ultimate villain/antagonist, some even went as far to send him hate mail, tell him his manga was horrible, that he should d*e, etc etc. Again, in hindsight, I understand all of this. I got whiplash too. 😂 I was like "for real??????? Y'all deadass rn???? Someone say SIKE" but nope, that's who he was--which encouraged me to reread and rewatch EVERYTHING. It all clicked and I went "how the hell did we not see this?!" 😭 So yeah, I get that Eren doing the Rumbling is extreme--but that's the point, he's BEEN that extreme since chapter and episode 1. We just didn't pay attention and thought he was bluffing. That's not the character's fault. And it doesn't mean he's written badly. He's not.

We just thought he wasn't gonna stand on business. Eren Yeager stood on that shit, 10 toes down. Genocide IS extreme (it always is, no doubt about it--and I'm not a fan of those who call Eren fans/appreciators genocide apologists because whoa??? Buddy, it's not that serious???? Again, we're not in school, we're not getting tested for morality or what have you, please take a chill pill. You're NOT getting a medal for being more moral or 'gooder' of a human than me because of . . . what character I like??????), but I get it. Don't blindly cheer him on but also: AOT Earth is NOT equivalent with our Earth. The cast is dealing with abnormal situations that we don't (people turning into giant weapons/human eating monsters, a government conspiracy to continue using SAID monsters, a even more secret plan by multiple world governments/nations to wipe out a defenseless island of people who have NO direct connection with the vile Empire that spawned them, etc etc). So if you're gonna put Eren on a crucifix, put the Marleyan government on that shit first. They LITERALLY are the reason why Eren's mom (and many innocent people) died/became mindless killers (the Titans), which made him want to kill them all in the first place. Put Grisha Yeager on that shit too, because he was a deadbeat ass father who ONLY had Eren just to pass on the Attack and Founding Titans BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD HIM TO. He's the same thing as Gaara's father from Naruto. Same reasons why they had their youngest sons. EXACT SAME. Unlike Rasa, Grisha never apologized to Eren. Not once for bringing him into such a cruel world, not once for forcing the Titan serum on him, not EVEN for SHORTENING HIS LIFESPAN (Eren would die at 23 or until someone else killed/ate him for his Titan powers), none of it. Annie, Reiner, Berthold--they BROKE. The wall. And allowed the Smiling Titan in--the same one that ate Eren's. Mom. Like, c'mon now!

Okay first of all - thank you so much for sending me this ask! I haven't received an ask since like 2018, and I really like answering questions! (are any of y'all old enough to remember Formspring? I loved that shit lmao)

Second of all - this took me forever to think of! I suddenly forgot all pieces of media that I've ever consumed. Plus I wanted to make sure I had a mix of stuff lol

Anyway, here's what I've come up with, in no particular order :)

David Rose | Schitt’s Creek

David Rose is honestly so important to me. When I first started watching Schitt’s Creek, I was just like “oh haha sassy queer man, so funny!” But then as the show progressed, I found myself identifying so much with the character. And then I decided to rewatch the show… four more times over the next few months. Like I just kept going back to it. And eventually I thought “ya know… why do I identify so much with a queer man? I’ve never thought of myself as queer and I’m not a man… so why?” Which led me down the rabbit hole of watching other queer-centric shows and doing a bunch of internet searching of sexuality and gender identity. And I honestly learned so much. Like it’s crazy how much I just assumed about a lot of stuff without ever thinking too deeply about it. And wouldn’t you fuckin know it, I realized I was bisexual. And then the more and more I thought about how I see myself and how I wanted others to see me, I decided that yep, I’m not a man… but I’m also not really too attached to being a woman either. So here we are today, just a big ol’ bisexual nonbinary androgynous blob. All thanks to David Rose!

2. Karasuno VBC | Haikyuu!!

Is this answer cheating? I feel like it’s cheating. But I’ve tried - I’ve reeeally tried - to pick a favorite character from Haikyuu, and I just cannot. So I’ve chosen the entire ‘12-‘13 Karasuno High School Volleyball Club (coaches and managers included!). I just love them each so much for different reasons. Like, Hinata is such a sweetheart and I’m so proud of him by the end of the series! Kageyama is my baby, my sweet grumpy dumb-dumb baby. Sugawara is probably the one I relate to the most, coming off as shy and calm but in reality he’s a little insane. And Asahi! My sweet sensitive Asahi, I love him so much. I could ramble on for days, but I won’t. Just know that I would fight to the death for these fictional characters. 

3. Power | Chainsaw Man

Since I’ve decided that I’d only do one cheat answer, I can’t list the whole Hayakawa family as one character. That said, I’d have to say Power is my favorite of the trio. She’s loud and obnoxious and egotistical and powerful and silly and gross and honestly everything I wish I could be. 

4. Xie Lian | Heaven Official’s Blessing

Xie Lian is so awkward, but he’s low-key hilarious. There’s a moment in chapter 6 of the first novel, where he was worried because he didn’t have any shrines or worshippers dedicated to him in the mortal realm. But then, there’s this excerpt: “And one day, on a whim, he suddenly thought: If no one worships me, I’ll worship myself! None of the heavenly officials knew how to respond to that. Who had ever fucking heard of a god worshipping himself?! To reach such tragic heights, what was the point?! However, Xie Lian was used to receiving nothing but awkward silence the moment he spoke and thought amusing himself could be fun.” Like… that whole ‘fuck it, I’m just gonna do whatever the hell I want’ attitude gives me life. On top of all that, he’s a cheapskate scrap collector, a terrible cook, and has the worst luck. But he’s a total sweetheart, he tries his best at everything he does, he’s always trying to help people, and HELLO he’s got Hua Cheng wrapped around his finger. 

5. Uramichi Omota | Life Lessons With Uramichi-oniisan

My favorite depressy boi. Life Lessons is so freakin funny and way too goddamn relatable. I think I have four different magnets at my desk at work with images / quotes of Uramichi from the show and manga. There's not much else I can say other than he speaks to my soul.

6. Kageyama “Mob” Shigeo | Mob Psycho 100

The goodest boy!! A friend actually recommended Mob Psycho to me, and at first I was a little skeptical. But by the third episode I was hooked. And by season 3, I found myself literally sobbing. Just seeing Mob’s growth throughout the show, and how his kindness impacted so many people around him… it just fills my heart. But also the moment where he almost loses himself to the ???%… just wow. The whole message of that show is so so good and I will literally recommend it to anyone and everyone. 

7. Sasaki Shuumei | Sasaki and Miyano

The sweetest cinnamon roll!! The way he truly loves Miyano is so refreshing. Sure, he has the whole “but he’s a guy…” thought at first. But he gets over that fairly quickly. He just knows that Miyano is cute and he genuinely wants to get to know him. He actively engages with Miyano to try and learn about his interests and hobbies. He reads all the BL Miyano lends him. He gives his honest feedback about each story! He stands up for Miyano’s interests. He confesses to Miyano pretty early on, but recognizes that Miyano may not reciprocate those feelings right away. He continually reassures Miyano that his feelings are strong, but he’s not pushy about it. It’s more like he wants to make sure Miyano doesn’t see his feelings as a passing whim. And when they finally get together, he’s not shy about their relationship. He talks about it to his friends and family. When the two of them start to get more physical, Miyano voices his concern about who’s going to be the “bottom”. And Sasaki’s immediate thought was that he didn’t really care which way they went, he just knew that he wanted it to be with Miyano. And my GOD I loved seeing that. I feel like discussing your sexual preferences with your partner and figuring out what you’re comfortable with doing is SO important, but that aspect of starting a new relationship isn’t portrayed nearly enough in BL stories. It’s usually just one guy being a little nervous about being bottom and the other guy automatically assuming they’re the top, with zero communication. Anyway, I digress. Back to Sasaki. My cinnamon roll. I just love him. 

8. April Ludgate | Parks and Recreation 

Parks and Rec will always be one of my comfort shows. And I first watched it when I was about the same age as April - young enough to not really know what I wanted to do in life and also not really caring about that stuff just yet. I loved her dry sense of humor and her sarcasm. And watching her grow into someone with more confidence in her career and relationships was amazing. Also fun fact, when I interviewed for my first role at my current workplace - which happens to be an Indiana government entity - I was asked why I was interested in government work. And I straight up said that Parks & Rec made it seem interesting lmao. They must have liked that answer, because I’m still there almost 4 years later and have promoted up since then! 

9. Dorothy Zbornak | Golden Girls

I first watched Golden Girls when I was in college, when my roommate was like “I promise you’ll like it, it’s so funny” and I was like bitch… it’s an old show about old ladies. But she was RIGHT. It’s hilarious. And honestly so wholesome. And ICONIC (I mean come on. This show talked about women's sex lives, old women's sex lives at that. And LGBT+ issues. And workplace harassment. And invisible illnesses / disabilities and the struggles of getting your doctor to actually listen to you. All of this in the '80s, no less!) And I feel like most people liked Rose because, duh it’s Betty White. But Dorothy was my jam. She was sarcastic and always annoyed by something (same). But she genuinely cared about her friends. And look. I ain’t gonna lie. That deep, almost raspy voice of hers? Hot. 

10. Jake Peralta | Brooklyn 99

He’s honestly so annoying, but I love him. He gives off this “I’m gonna do the bare minimum and be silly the whole time and STILL get the fuckin’ job done” vibe, and ya know what? He does just that. He’s actually a great detective and problem solver. He just also knows how to have fun. And his relationship with Amy is one of the few straight(-passing) relationships that I honestly love so much. They’re so cute and pure and goofy and relatable. And don’t even get me started on his friendship with Rosa. I mean, he went with her when she wanted to come out as bi to her parents!! Aahhhh!! Lastly, his flannel / hoodie / leather jacket combo? Pure bisexual fashion and I am here for it.

Things the MC would bring back to their demon bois from the mortal realm:

Lucifer:

MC goes to second hand stores and vintage shops always on the look out for vinyl records that they think Lucifer would like.

Most of the time they try and bring back stuff he'd actually like, such as Tchaikovsky or Vivaldi

Once, they brought back Stravinsky's Firebird Suite and Lucifer wouldn't stop kissing them (once they were in the privacy of his room of course)

Sometimes the MC will bring back more modern music just because it makes them think of him

"I dunno, I just listen to Hozier and think of you"

Lucifer doesn't like all the modern music they bring back but he appreciates the sentiment just the same

Then there's the gag gifts...

Any kind of music that has a reference to the devil or Satan or hell is fair game

These gifts usually elicit an eye roll from the eldest brother but he keeps them all the same

This is why Lucifer owns a copy of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia"

So when MC brings back a copy of Giuseppe Tartini's Violin Sonata in G minor, they're a little surprised at Lucifer's delighted reaction

"You know, I was the one who visited Tartini in his dreams."

MC's mind = blown.

"Also, this copy is cursed. I know you know how much I enjoy cursed vinyls."

"I- wait... What?!"

MC is very upset that they had a cursed vinyl in their possession this whole time

Mammon:

This boy loves stuff, and he loves MC, so he's gonna love any gift really

But MC knows he loves treasure and jewels and as much as they'd love to just bring him back nice watches and jewelery...

MONEY IS A THING, AND MC IS NOT MADE OF IT.

So MC settles for semi-precious stones instead

They always find fun and beautiful stones at museums and those metaphysical stores and they always pick out one that reminds them of Mammon

They're really nervous when they give him his first gift

"Hey, I got this for you and I know it's not fancy or expensive but I saw it and thought of you and I just wanted you to have it."

Mammon will love them until they die. He is really just so touched that MC thought of him. He'll try and play it cool though

He totally fails. MC won't tell him that though

MC brings him Lapis Lazuli and tells him it reminded them of his eyes and Mammon is now a puddle of lovesick goo on the floor

Mammon puts more shelves in his room dedicated to all the gifts MC gives him

One time MC brings him back some fool's gold in a teeny little jar on a chain, so that he can wear it

"Fool's gold? Why cuz I'm a fool?" Mammon asks with a roll of his eyes.

"What? No, cuz I'm a fool for you."

Mammon only love MC until they die? WRONG.

He's gonna love them forever now

He was gonna do that anyways

Leviathan:

C'mon, this boy is easy. Anime/manga stuff and TSL. Need I say more?

At first he'll be suspicious of MC wanting to give him gifts, but once they've convinced him that they're doing it out of the kindness of their heart he's really touched

The first thing the MC brings him is a pen with a little Ruri-Chan on the end of it

"I know it's not much, but I just happened to see it and I knew you'd like it"

Like it??????

HE LOVES IT! HE'S OVER THE GODDAMM MOON.

He's never seen anything like this in the Devildom and he doesn't think about the small stuff usually because he's too busy trying to get the big collectors edition items. So he actually really loves this.

MC continues to bring him cute small stuff like buttons and keychains and Levi loves them all.

His favorite item(s) that MC brought him is a pair of Lord of Shadows and Henry BFF enamel pins

He definitely tackle hugged MC when he got them

He gives the Lord of Shadows pin back to MC so they can each have one and show off their BFF status with them

Satan:

MC loves going to second-hand bookstores to shop for Satan.

Satan also appreciates new books, but there's something special about how his face lights up when he finds something old or rare. Anything with a little bit of history to it.

Of course, finding rare books for not a lot of money is a rare event in itself

So a safe bet is to bring Satan non-fiction, the boy loves to learn

But he really loves it when MC puts thought into finding fiction books that he would like

"I just really feel like you'd like Dean Koontz so I brought you one of my favorites by him."

Satan loves those gifts the most because he can talk to MC about the books afterwards

Satan's absolute favourite gift is a leather bound copy of Arabian Nights though

"I was thinking we could read this one together"

"Like you read it to me and pretend to be Scheherazade?" Satan suggests.

MC is flustered at the connotation of the suggestion but agrees anyways

The time they spend together reading that story will forever be one of Satan's favorite memories

Asmodeus:

He's a little harder to shop for than the MC had originally imagined

They tried bringing him make-up and skin care, which Asmo always graciously accepted, but he never seemed super excited about the gifts

But what else is to be expected from the guy who already uses only the best products?

MC suddenly gets an idea when they send Asmo a selfie of them at the park

- OMG! You're so cute! And the background is pretty too!-

MC starts dressing up and going to nice and beautiful places just with the intention of taking pictures

Botanical Gardens, museums, downtown skylines, anything that would make for a good picture

MC goes full on aesthetic art hoe just for Asmo

Only the best pictures get sent to Asmo

Asmo is LIVING for the looks their MC is serving up

MC makes a scrapbook of the best pictures to give to Asmo the next time they see him

Asmo loves it and keeps it on display in his room always

Obviously, the boy loves food. He's always down to try new snacks from the mortal realm.

But MC wonders if there's something better that they could bring him

One day MC is at GNC for supplements for themself when they notice the workout supplements and get an idea

They grab some fun flavored protein powder and some BCAAs and a really nice shaker bottle just for Beel

Beel is actually really excited to get these gifts!

The Devildom doesn't have fun flavors of protein powder and the shaker bottle is such a great idea!

MC always brings new flavors of protein back for Beel, doing their best to find the weirdest flavors for him to try

Beel's favorite is definitely Birthday Cake.

MC starts bringing him new stuff to try too, protein bars, recovery supplements, collagen, and superfoods shakes

Beel tries everything and tells MC what their favorites are

"I love the BCAAs, I just wish the Devildom had them..." *sad Beel noises*

MC may or may not talk to Diavolo about researching BCAAs and getting them produced and sold in the Devildom

The supplements MC brings actually help Beel with his workouts and to control his hunger (a little)

Beel actually gets hotter??? Who knew that was possible???

MC definitely takes advantage of Beel's new 8-pack 😏😏😏

Belphegor:

What do you get the boy who only wants to sleep?

MC has gotten him stuffed animals and blankets and even a couple of nice pillows, but nothing seems to excite him

... but maybe that's just his personality??

It's not until MC accidentally leaves a sweater in the Devildom, that they figure it out

- You left your sweater down here- Belphie texts MC.

- Oh no, I'll just get when I come to visit y'all again-

- That's fine. I like having something that smells like you-

And the light bulb went off in MC's head.

Every time MC goes to visit they leave a shirt or sweater behind for Belphie, so that he can have something that smells like them.

Belphie loves how MC smells, its like a sweet dream all the time. It helps him sleep better when they're gone.

Belphie starts to complain when MC is gone longer than the item they left smells like them

(Which is every time)

So MC will start leaving Belphie more than one item, packing them in airtight bags so he can use them one after another until they return

Belphie can and will fight anyone who tries to take MC's clothing

"Mammon, you have two seconds to put that sweater back or I will kill you."

And Lucifer probably won't stop him

Diavolo:

He's honestly the easiest to please.

He's so fascinated with any thing that humans do that he'll enjoy any gift from the human world.

MC's first gift to him is a rubber duck.

"The duck is wearing a crown so it made me think of you and I just thought it was cute."

"I love it! What's its purpose?"

"Uh... to float around in the bathtub with you and look cute?"

"Isn't that what you're for?"

Diavolo loves the rubber duck so much it gets his own silk pillow to rest on when it's not taking a bath with Diavolo.

MC brings him cute pens, and keychains sometimes bottles of wine if the bottle is cute.

"The bottle is shaped like a cat! Isn't that delightful?!"

MC's proudest moment was when they found a full and intact tea set at the thrift store

Diavolo immediately fell in love with it.

He insists on only using that set when having tea with MC

But his favorite gift will always be the rubber duck.

Barbatos:

He'll insist that he doesn't need any gifts but that won't stop the MC.

MC is with him in the kitchen in the Demon Lord's Palace when they get an idea.

KITCHEN TOYS.

Barbatos works so hard, he deserves some things to make his life easier and liven up the bland kitchen

MC's first gift is a vegetable spiralizer.

"You use it to turn zucchini and squash and the like into noodles so that you can do fun stuff with vegetables!"

Barbatos accepts it graciously, but he'll probably never use it.

MC brings him spices from the mortal realm and Barbatos actually really loves those.

When MC brings him a food processor, he offers to cook for them right then and there

Despite all the weird gadgets MC ends up bringing him, and there are plenty out there, Barbatos's favorite is a ladle that looks like a stegosaurus.

It's far more whimsical than anything he would've ever picked out, and he'll never use it, but only because he's afraid of ruining it, not because he doesn't love it.

At some point, Barbatos does ask MC to stop bringing him kitchen gadgets

"Why? Do you not like them?" MC asks with a pout.

"I appreciate all of them, but I have everything I need when you're in the kitchen with me."

If MC wasn't already in love with him they are now

Smooth bastard just doesn't want anymore shit in his kitchen

The author, under the pen name Gege Akutami still wanted them to think how a decent human would.

Normal was not the correct term if you were being specific because nothing was entirely ordinary with a manga entitled Sorcery Fight.

The only ounce of realism with sorcery in earth would be witches, paranormal activities, ghosts and many other spectral things that not even a scientist could even explain.

Curses might be true but the only curse you've received or given were probably words that would be considered explicit or a state of the moment where you've stepped on a piece of Lego from your nephew who was playing on the floors of your home.

"Jujutsu Kaisen," now, Angie was a lot more comprehensible. Considering the distance that was cut short. You've craned your neck to give her a skeptical glance, quietly asking what she needed when you were on a break after helping her with groups of friends who came in a while ago, they were rowdy but entertaining to watch. Drawn within the panels left only one particular man which triggered your outcry. First would be one of Gojo Satoru's past arc and the other was from the present. Shibuya arc to be precise.

The manga panels left to you was strange, considering how you were probably holding your book in between the Shibuya Arc incident, yet it left a part where it didn't even had the chapter of Gojo's past because it was the wrong manga volume.

Did the robber seriously exchange a torn paper of Gojo's pretty face for one manga volume? you thought in between disbelief and anger. Entirely dubious that this thief even thought you had no print out of this certain panel where Gojo was looking awfully sightly?

"My manga! You should've taken my phone not my manga you idiot!"

There were lots to be honest. You had them pasted on the walls of your room.

It was probably the audacity of this thief which pushed your cynicism away, running away for your life. Impulsive as everybody would try to judge, but it was as if your feet caught the best of you and next thing you knew, it was heading towards the robber who seemed to take the right turn around a corner. Proceeding to run through a shortcut to pass the highways.

This thief was a fool to choose the highways because there were probably people walking around and you could immediately cry for help.

"Oh no you don't! Y-You ruined a piece of chapter for me!" you weren't no Yuji Itadori where you could run for miles in just minutes, nor had Divine Dogs to use for help, cursed tools or innate techniques that would help you capture this mugger.

The moon and stars amalgamated into the caliginous sky, how the contours of this thief created light and iniquity, a phantom of your dreams and hell together as one from the moment it spoke.

An incognito. Faceless. Anonymous. The demarcation of his or her identity, a cloud of umbra that was planned to act as if the unknown.

He held onto your manga with his right hand as you stood on the middle of the pedestrian lane, hearing no cars nor honks of trucks wanting you to move away, showing you the cover of your manga as the moon shone brightly, accentuating the cause of this accident as a foreground of another ill-fate chalked out for you to prepare and experience.

"You will live a life just like how the others did." the faceless man spoke, grumbling and cavernous which was enough to give you goosebumps everywhere. He fished his gloved hand out of his other pocket, it was also Stygian just as how he was dressed. yet designed with coruscating stones of white, purple, yellow, red and sky blue on its knuckles like a gauntlet of an antagonist in one of Marvel's universe. "---and it will always be preordained." he continued to talk as you were ceased from doing anything but stare at him in return, like this was a fate ought to undertake.

"Hate yourself more, and more negativity will hail even on the other side,"

"What---" you were cut off as you couldn't move a step, trying your hardest to free yourself from the crazed man who were speaking gibberish assumptions on things. How it went from stealing your manga into being dragged by his mania left you looking like a dum-dum. You should've just left your obsession to his hands and just bought a new one. He was probably more than just an obsessed Jujutsu Kaisen fan. Another one of your inner thoughts added as a matter of fact whilst getting overwrought by his whim of foolish senses.

He raised his gloved hands, his palms opened towards you like he planned to blast you off. His hand begun to emit such excruciating luminosity which made you tightly shut your eyes, covering yourself with your own arms to keep yourself from being blinded.

Despite of your eyes shut off, you could entirely hear the horns of a large freight truck that seemed to rush towards your side of the road. Of course, vehicles would pass by a woman who stood stupidly in the middle of a highway. The honks begun to blare violently, loud enough for you to ask yourself...

Was this death?

The termination of a life that started to drain you slowly?

Or was this the start of another?

But, quite idiotic enough not to know the differences of your souls." the mixture of his voice with the noise of the city, an amalgam of fear, uncertainty and affliction.  "---But, you will still leave him more than just battle-scars, pain and trauma."

It grew reverberant. Time stood still just like how you were as stiff as a statue, asking yourself if this was the destiny you finally deserved for all your reckless choices.

With one final blow and second in this life you were in meant for another to begin. However, the differences were is that you weren't reincarnated. The trumpet call of death started as the vehicle never raced to a stop. You knew your demise was pursuing you in a flash.

As you two came up the stage you were just wishing the blush from the scene a few moments ago. The cameras flashed and claps were heard.

"Shit the media is here..." You mumbled.

"Your surprised, why?" Kenma gave you an amused and disappointed look. No idea how he managed to do that but he did.

"Shut the fuck up. I just got a feeling the questions won't be about the game thanks to the media."

A clearing of throat behind you stopped your argument. It was Akaashi handing you both microphones to be clipped on you [I'm sorry I dont know what they're called] .

"Good luck, don't do and say anything stupid. And remember this is the release of PPM's demo." He reminded and got off the stage.

"Good evening to you all! I hope you've been having a great time!" I started.

"We'd like to thank you again for attending the release of PPM's demo."

"Now of course the game is yet to be played but from the trailer that was shown, I hope you had enjoyed it since the game is going to be much better than the trailer!"

"I'm sure you all must've questions as well. That's why Me and your idi-- dear author will answer."

"You definitely were about to call me idiot." You frowned at him.

He smirked and shrugged. "I have not a slightest idea what you mean."

"You're the worst."

Ignoring you... Again. He motioned at one of the reporters to probably ask their question.

"Ms. LN, as the initial plot of the Puri-Puri Magika is about [REDACTED], and the trailer we saw have quite a large difference from one another only having the universe in similarty. Is it just the universe of the similar one to the manga? "

"Of course the plot would be different. It disappoints me quite a bit that none of you realized how they're connected aside from the universe. Well, I don't really want to spoil you but if you actually read the Manga and saw the trailer," You gave a proud smirk. "Everyone that was a fan of PPM in the team were ecstatic. They were all just-" You mimicked a mind blown. "They were so excited about the game and a those."

"Thank you Ms. LN."

"Next please."

"Mr. Kozume," the next one called. "You were neither a fan of YN, nor PPM, why did you decide to not only beta test the game but sponsor and invest big sum of money on the game."

"We--"

"No wait ! I want to answer some of those questions!" You cut off cackling. "The one about him investing and him beta testing! It's actually an annoying and Hella funny story."

"Shut up you'll probably lie."

"Shut up." Kenma now had his ears red. "Don't you--"

"He was the biggest asshole back then!"

"He fucking beta tested despite not knowing shit about PPM because it was the biggest game. And he just banwagoned  on it like a bitch he was."

"You did not know shit about PPM cut yo bullshit. You didn't even know who the MC was!"

"That's why he beta tested! Now the reason why he invested is really hilarious!"

"I really hate this story..."

"So since he didn't know shit about PPM he really couldn't care about the plot and just looked for bugs and shit. He wasn't even aware of the bugs in the plot since he didn't know which what was supposed to be part of the plot and not. This bitch ass decided there wasn't any bugs anymore so we went with that. But then we had to play it and saw a shit ton of bugs."

"I said there were some bugs don't make me seems so stupid."

"You didn't even inform us about the glitch at the time skip part! That could've ruined the entire thing! Anywayz, so we had to code the game again. So we emailed him that there were way too many bugs other than what he told us so the next testing would be later. But the asshole never replied. And since I was the one entasked to guide this bitch ass, I  had to flood his email! And he didn't respond! Not once! It had been DAYS! I send him at least 20 emails everyday! I have up on the 3-4th day and DMed him on Twitter."

Pulling you closer to him and turning around so the crowd won't see you both. He lowered the mic to prevent them from hearing.

"I wanted to see you all blushy and panicked . You look adorable." He whispered to your ear before facing the crowd again who were now going crazy over what Kenma had just confirmed.

"Y-You're an asshole..."

"Yeah, an asshole who..." lowering his mic again he leaned to your ear. "Still has your favorite onsie at his place. You really shouldn't have left it at my place. I'm so tempted to burn it."

"You leave my onsie alone! I will drown your consoles."

"With that threat, you're suddenly stripped of your house visit privileges."

Then suddenly, another sinister feeling creeps up Tama’s spine. It makes her shiver to her core.

“What’s this?” Itadori’s face has another mouth.

Tama jumps back in fighting stance. Her instincts just made her move; no second thought. She even grabbed her shikomizue in that split second.

“This one’s got fire, Yuji.”

“Sukuna, you! I’m sorry! Please, I don’t mean any harm.”

“That is not normal.” Tama said as she pointed to Itadori’s face. Damn. I can’t control my heartbeat. It’s like my soul is trying to escape my body. My entire skin feels like its being pierced by needles. An extreme uneasiness that I cannot contain. I’m sweating profusely.

“Keep this one around. She gives me the same sense as Fushiguro. Ha. Ha. See you later, Natsumi.” And just like that, Sukuna’s presence disappears.

Tama can’t stand. Trying to catch her breath, she maintains a distance from the lot. Was that…? No, it can’t be…? That Sukuna?

“Nat..su..mi….?” Worrily, Itadori asks.

“I’m sorry…. Just… let me… catch my breath….” Panting as if she ran for her life. You could say her soul tried to.

“Who are you?” Gojo abruptly asks.

Tama, eyes filled with regret, looked at the blindfold as if she could see his eyes. She had many things running through her mind right now; the many times she was going to die, how she grew up, Matsuda-san, Ryoku… Natsu…. After catching her breath, she gets up and recollects herself before answering.

“I already introduced myself. I’m Har-“

“You have no curse energy. You yield weapons without curse energy. You sensed Sukuna before he appeared to you. So, who. are. you?” Gojo is not backing down, standing right in front of Tama.

Tch.

“Hmm…. How about you come with us?!” He flipped his switch. Serious -> Spontaneous. What even is this man?

“Oi, sensei. Bringing in another stray?” Fushiguro steps in.

“Are you jealous Megumi?”

Fushiguro’s face says it all. Not a damn he gives.

“Whatever. The principal will be the one to put up with you. Let’s go.”

“I’m not going.” Tama doesn’t want to be involved with anything that has to do with Gojo Satoru. Ryoku’s words remind her that anybody around Gojo will eventually get in serious trouble.

“Why not? Leaving someone behind?” Gojo asks as he puts his hands in his pockets.

“Uh, no. I need to pick up my pay for this job, so…”

“Oh! That’s what it is! We’ll go with you!”

“OI. SENSEI.”

“Megumiiiiii, so you are jealous.” Gojo pouts.

“As if. Just let her stop by when she’s done; of course, that’s only if she wants to come. Stop trying recruit.”

“I’ll... go. But just give me time.” Tama wasn’t sure if she should go with them. But maybe I can learn about myself if I have them around. “Oh, but wait. Sensei? Principal? You’re taking me to a school?”

“Riiiight.. I haven’t mentioned it. We are from Tokyo Jujutsu High! A high school for jujutsu sorcerers!”

“OI!”

“What Megumi? I think we can trust this kitty.”

Tama felt her stomach clench. Now, she’s not sure if she should go.

“How about sharing emails? So we can keep contact.”

“Uh... sure.... I suppose.”

“Okay then! I’ll be messaging you every day until you come! Bye-bye!”

And just like that, the lot of them left, and Tama did too. I’m killing that pervert, Yamamoto!

Soooo I opened the raws this morning. Saw the spicy and went 'ohh shoot'. Then some of y'all say that some folks are hating Akane bc of this chap. I proceeded to panic, because fandom war is scary af. So I translated the chap for myself. And I just gotta say:

Aoi, Nene, your boyfriends are idiots. Y'all gonna be punching and headbutting the idiocy out of them for the rest of your lives and I'll be willing to pay for your karate classes.

The teen drama made me laugh so hard ahahahaha I guess this is what you get for hoping sensei will drop a bomb this month lmaoooo.

P.S. Teru you little shit

Man I don’t even know where to begin. This chapter is oozing doraaaaama and I can’t take it seriously no matter how much I try. I remember thinking, “Shoot, this is the ‘I hate you, I hate you too, proceed to make out’ trope in JSHK’s classic ‘oooh serious moment, eh? PSYCHE!’ style,” before bursting into laughter.

I swear I’m not making fun of it.

Because it’s already fun to begin with. Ahahahaha.

I do however, take seriously the long-awaited insight into Aoi’s mind. I hollered in joy, y’all. ‘Cause like ... finally!

(Also like ... ngl the development of Aoi and akaoi in this arc might come into play in my Shrek AU. Pls don’t ask. Yet. That’s not the official AU name I swear I just wanna confuse my readers ahahaha)

Back when chapter 64 came out I wrote something that was supposed to be the first of the Let’s Talk About JSHK Manga series but I ended up not posting it because I wasn’t sure about a bunch of things. Here’s an excerpt from that post, titled ‘Aoi and Her Blues’:

I mean, what did the minions do to her? ‘Remove unnecessary things’. Someone said they removed her inhibitions (I’m terribly sorry I forgot who said this because it’s been so long so I can’t put the link here, but if you know, feel free to send me the link).

But she has to be brainwashed, right?

She remembered enough about Nene. Enough to call her out on her feelings (that she still denies btw lol) and recognize Hanako from Nene’s wonderful description (or because Aoi could see him all this time and never said anything, who knows?).

Most importantly, she remembered Akane.

So apparently they weren’t unnecessary enough to be erased from her memory. Which I’d beg to differ if I were going to make this girl willingly sacrifice herself.

Would she let her best friend fall down into a pit full of giant insects, or let her childhood friend get impaled? I mean this is the same girl that cried when Akane and Yamabuki got together (by accident) and when Nene started talking to herself like a madwoman.

So yeah. Definitely brainwashed. Pretty sure now.

The one thing that bugged me is what she said though.

“I’ve always wanted to go somewhere far away.”

“Nothing will stop me from getting my wish.”

Btw these aren’t accurate word for word I’m just drawing from memory.

Is that a wish forced upon her by the brainwashing, or has Aoi been depressed all this time and ... y’know, therefore thought about ‘going far away’? I’m personally leaning more towards the first, but it still got me thinking.

Remember back in The Clock Keeper arc when she said there was something she wanted to tell Nene?

Can some creepy hands showing up in the gardening club’s album photos really warrant that kind of expression? Is it just me who got disappointed when the thing she wanted to tell Nene ended up being just that?

But if she did have such thoughts, why?

Maybe she was lonely? I mean Nene got so busy with supernatural shenanigans. Akane’s busy with student council stuff (and school wonder stuff). Though I don’t doubt for a second that he’d drop everything for Aoi, but Aoi’s not the kind of person to do that. And to be honest, I feel like so far Aoi hasn’t been shown having genuine interaction with anyone aside from Nene and Yamabuki without the other person being completely enamored by her. And even with Yamabuki that was just in that After School chapter.

So I guess my hunch wasn’t that far off. Still though. Still though. Is she or is she not brainwashed? Because as much as Aoi likes-but hates-but actually kinda likes Akane, I still don’t think she’s the type of person to stab her childhood friend until he’s got a hole through his fucking torso.

Throwing Nene into the bug pit I guess makes more sense if Aoi knew all along that the pit won’t lead anywhere too dangerous, and that Hanako wouldn’t leave Nene’s side. Nene’s perfectly safe with him. Sorta. She did get kidnapped and were about to be sacrificed after all. But heeey Hanako still showed up to save her in the end.

Stabbing Akane like that tho? Even if she knows he wouldn’t die in a boundary especially in his school wonder form? It just doesn’t feel like Aoi, man.

Then again she did say no one really knows her, and that anyone who does would end up being disappointed in her.

I’m really happy to know that she does not, in fact, appreciate all the attention given to her. Comedy framing aside, constantly having some random guy approach you to ask you out presumably every day is ... annoying at best. Kid deserves better.

So ya girl got some extreme trust issues. Strangers, even Akane and Nene, I could understand. But her dad tho? Is something going on in the Akane household? Bruh ....

How long has Aoi not been able to trust anyone enough to let them get close to her? Because if she’s been feeling like that about Nene all this time, Imma be super sad bruh. Nene is one of the most genuine kids ever (perhaps only second to Kou).

I understand that Aoi’s disappointed because Nene’s been keeping secrets, but honestly, who would believe you if you come up to them and say, “Hey so I summoned a toilet ghost and now I’m stuck as his assistant. The rumors about supernaturals are like, totally real, and can endanger everyone in this school for real, too. Also I turn into fish when I come in contact with water.”

Sensible best friends would either a) not believe you, or b) try to get you as far away from supernatural shit as possible ‘cause hello? Ya ain’t Miles Morales ya can’t just blast What’s Up Danger when monster of the week shows up.

Even if Aoi does let it continue, wouldn’t she wanna get involved? Would Nene let her get involved when Tsukasa’s still around? Ya girl got cursed, thrown off the top of a boundary, sent to literally nowhere and everywhere, almost got her body stolen by mirror monsters, kidnapped and taken into a fake world, and now trapped in literal Grim Reaper’s realm. Honestly, who would involve their best friend in this sort of shit?

It just makes me sad to think that all this time Akane and Nene have genuinely cared about her but she didn’t think they were. Aoi, my girl Nene literally threaded hell boundaries and high shallow water to save you!!!

Unrequited platonic love hurts just as much as romantic ones, y’all ....

Speaking of romantic love.

Hey, uh, Akane. For claiming to despise Hanako and calling him a slimy pervert, y’all kinda act the same way with your respective girlfriends when things get a bit heated up, huh? Even the teasing part.

Yeah I don’t get it either. Whether it was a creative choice taken in consideration to the actual character’s state or to just pander to the trope that seems to be marketable in Japan or both, I don’t really know.

I do however, have to remind you that none of these kids are in their right mind. One is possibly still recovering from the effects of brainwashing and dealing with not only extreme trust issues and insecurities, but also the sight of a gaping hole on her childhood friend and perhaps crush’s torso, not to mention having to deal with this in the middle of nowhere. The other one is the said person with a gaping hole on his torso, who almost lost his life-long crush, and even got stabbed by her in the first place.

They’re lost. They’re tired. They’re emotional. They’re frustrated. They’re two hormonal teens.

I think Akane thought Aoi wouldn’t listen to him unless he makes her. Which is why he went with exposing her by saying he hated her. Which is still a dumb move in my opinion. But Aoi rightfully got back at him. And honestly I didn’t think he really hurt her. I mean, it’s Akane after all. *shrugs*

The way I see it, the entire thing was a result from not only their current condition but also the uh ... not telling each other how they really feel all this time. Aoi with her issues, Akane with his secrets. They’re a ticking bomb. It’s horrible that they ended up hurting each other because of this (physically and emotionally), but I could see why it went like this. These two are flawed. Most importantly, they’re teenagers. They’re bound to fuck up in this equation.

Heck, I’ve fucked up worse in less endangering situations before.

But heeey once things get cleared between them they fall right back to each other. Sure things aren’t entirely resolved. But they’re gonna be okay. Teru’s there. Should be fine. Probably.

The thing is we as the audience who come into the story with a clear head can easily figure out the best, most sensible way to deal with the characters’ problems. But these problems affect the characters in (physical, physiological, psychological, emotional) ways most of us can’t immediately empathize with, which can make their bad decisions frustrating for us to see. We know it’s wrong. And when these characters have calmed down and healed, they’ll know that it’s wrong, too. If they’re not dicks, that is.

You know how it feels when you’re fighting with someone, and you know the best thing to do is to talk it out, but you just can’t bring yourself to? It makes things worse, right? And you’re frustrated, right? Unfortunately that’s just how humans are.

Even I let my emotions get the best of me when I judged the villagers’ actions back in chapter 68 hahaha (but I still think they’re awful).

It’s just my opinion tho.

Lastly, I have the moral obligation to remind you that if akaoi’s confrontation ended up like this, imagine how hananene’s would be.

Introduction!!

Hola a todos, bonjour à tous, 大家好嗎, and hello to everyone!  My name is Danielle, and I am a budding Black polyglot on a quest to learn as many languages, as well as about the plethora of cultures they come from, as I please.   This is the very first post for this new langblr, so I'll just stick to doing introductions about myself and about what will be posted on here. 

About me: I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, am a college graduate with a bachelor's degree in Linguistics, am currently an English-teaching resident of Madrid, Spain for the rest of 2020, and lastly (and obviously), an avid learner of languages!   I'm an English native speaker, fluent in Spanish (B2 (Advanced) level), have an intermediate level of French under my belt (probably at the B1 level) as well as an intermediate level of Mandarin. 

My love for learning languages actually came from learning about Greek mythology in the 3rd grade (yes, I remember this), and through Greek mythology learning that there were people from another part of the world who lived lives significantly different from how I and others around me lived (and continued to live) ours.   It truly fascinated my young, developing mind at the time how there were people who wore completely different clothing, ate different types of food I never knew existed at the time, made and listened to different types of music, and especially made never-before heard sounds with their mouths!   Eventually the older I got, the more capable I became of doing my own research into these other world languages to the point where I started my language journey off by self-learning Spanish at 12 years old; this happened not too long after Latin pop music was introduced to me, and after I found out exactly what my Louisiana Creole heritage consisted of (Spanish, French, African, Native American).  I would later take formal Spanish classes once I started high school, as well as start learning Mandarin through formal classes as well.  Now why Mandarin: I wanted to learn Japanese in place of Mandarin since I was getting into Japanese pop culture (manga, anime, the likes), but ultimately chose Mandarin since it was my only option at the time that was the most closely-related to Japanese; who'd have thought I'd still be here studying it 9 years later!  I also had the opportunity to take Japanese for a year via an online school that my high school started partnering with at the beginning of my junior year.  Onwards!  I graduate high school and move onto college, continuing with my language studies and eventually adding French to that lovely list come 2nd semester junior year.  As far as French goes I picked that ope up because not only is it part of my cultural background, but I also need to learn it in order to attend the University of Geneva (UNIGE for short) and get a Master's in Conference Interpretation.  

And so there y'all have it!  The main purpose of this blog is to give me another way of applying what I learn throughout my studies.  That being said, you'll be seeing (hopefully, if I can channel enough creativity) all sorts of posts such as posts containing notes from formal language classes, music posts going over lyrics, and of course LANGUAGE PUNS!!!  I'd like to also use this blog to discuss cultural differences and my experiences navigating these differences.  And please interact with me!  There's no telling where my next language lesson will come from; y'all may learn something from me, and I could learn something from all of you!  Okay, that's enough for my intro; if you'd like to learn more about me feel free to send me asks, but keep it respectful, OR ELSE 👀  I am a 1st degree black belt (初段"Shōdan" in Japanese) in Shotokan Karate and therefore know how to kill a mf.  So if you know what's good for you, don't try me.  Now, let's get this langblr started!!

Author’s notes: hullo ! i loved the idea of L and Misa being friends and i hope this little thing conveys how much i enjoyed writing it. hope y'all like it ! special thanks to Mic for the lovely prompts, enjoy !

Misa looks at her phone and sighs. “He ain’t coming. I fucking knew it,” she says to the figure hunched over her computer. “He told me he’d make it ! What a fucking dickhead.”

“Language,” the figure says. “You should have known he would ditch.”

Misa can almost hear a grumbled “Beyond owes me ten thousand yens”, but she chooses not to raise it. Light can miss the fun, for all she cares, and she’ll just have a cozy time with her friend. “L,” she asks, “d’you think you’ll let me curl your hair this time ?”

“Absolutely not,” L answers. “Last time I saw you do it, you burned Beyond’s hair off.”

“I promise I’ve been getting better at it ! It’s just so hard to do it on another person,” she whines, but L looks so deadpan that her explanation might not make the cut. “Why did you even come,” she continues, “since you don’t wanna play princess.”

“I never said I was adverse to make-up,” L says, almost as low as a whisper, and Misa’s eyes glint. “I just care about the excess keratin I have on my scalp.”

“Such a glamorous way to put it,” she laughs.

Truth be told, it’s quite fun to spend an evening alone with L. She doesn’t think they’ve ever done that before – in all of the year they’ve known each other, she’s seen him exclusively with Light and those weird underclassmen. And Beyond, but that’s another story – she’s actually friends with the guy. She couldn’t believe it when she heard a bunch of exchange students from Britain would come for the semester, and she certainly didn’t expect them to all stay, but hey, sometimes life happens.

The lights in her room are dim, she likes it better this way – she’s always been a goth, and it’s not about to stop, but L is squinting at the computer screen and muttering something about her being a vampire. She does look the part, wearing her pyjamas, which consist of a fancy red camisole she put on just in case Light showed up, and a swishy pair of shorts made of the same silky material. She looks cute, and she can feel that L is perfectly oblivious to that fact. What a gay, she thinks. Not that she isn’t bisexual herself, she just thinks it’s funny when her tricks don’t work on people.

“Hey,” L says after a while of him scrolling down whatever horror detective manga he wanted to read, and her scrolling through Instagram. “I’m hungry.”

“I have… uh, let me think.” Truth be told, she has plenty of stuff, but she isn’t sure L eats any of it. “I have carrots ?”

“I eat that,” L says, “gimme. If you don’t have chocolate, I will riot,” he adds, and just the thought of L doing something this physically intense sends her howling, holding her ribs as she flails on the bed, disrupting L’s hunched up position. “Oh come on,” he says, “it wasn’t that funny.”

“Dear, you underestimate yourself,” Misa simply says, before getting up to grab the carrots. She also takes some chocolate, Light’s favourite, but hey, if he wanted it that badly, he could have come. They munch on the carrots in silence, and Misa swears she can see L’s raccoon eyes lose some of their shadow from the sheer power of carrot vitamins. “Whatchu wanna do ?” she asks when they’ve finished the whole bag, and L is eating chocolate faster than Mello can say “I hate Near”. Which, all things considered, is pretty impressive.

“I don’t know,” L answers. “You’re the girl, you’re supposed to know what sleepovers are like.”

“How sexist of you,” Misa says airily. She doesn’t mind L’s misogyny as much as she should, but hey, being a teen idol does that to you. “Now would be when I paint your nails and you tell me about your crush on my hot boyfriend, and we – I mean it, we eat all the chocolate.”

L splutters for a few seconds (completely silent and lips moving, at least), and says, “I don’t have a crush on Light-kun. He is my friend.”

“Right,” Misa mocks, “and you’re not gay, and Light doesn’t have the hots for you as well. I know,” she adds after L sends her a slightly bewildered look. “I just… y’know, if he hated me that much, he’d break up ? And he’d date you, finally, instead of-” she blushes and stops at that, because the memory is both fun and painful. Who moans someone else’s name when they make out ?

Light, apparently.

“I’m not averse to nail polish,” L merely says after a few minutes of uncomfortable silence. “Though please, no yellow.”

“Me ? Owning yellow nail polish ? Who do you take me for ?” Misa smirks. “Let’s go for the basics. You’ll look good with black.”

L does look a bit miffed by the smell, so she reluctantly cracks a window open, and they spend the next hour slowly but surely making their way through all fourty of their fingernails. Misa’s hands are perfect, because of course they are, but L has those little white specks on his nails that make Misa tut. When she’s done, she finally drops the little brush back in the bottle and shakes her hands vigorously, hoping the polish will dry faster that way.

“You know that’s-”

“Completely useless, yeah,” Misa finishes before L has the time to speak more.

“I wanted to say that it’s spreading the toxic fumes in my direction, but also that, yeah.”

“Oh, fuck off !” Misa says, but she’s smiling.

L smiles back. It’s a little crooked, a little froggy, a little… uneven. She doesn’t know his life story, but she’s gathered enough to know it’s not glamorous – she’s glad she can put a little sprinkle of glitter here and there.

L goes to sleep at a regular hour for him (five in the morning, could be worse) and he sleeps in that weird crouched position – upright, knees drawn, eyes open at first. Misa thinks it’s bizarre, but she has learned not to judge. They had fun, watching a few Youtube videos for what Misa calls “Making The Weird British Kids Catch Up With Life”, talking about – she doesn’t even remember, she’s too tired. She falls asleep not long after L, curled up by his side, and she thinks that, in spite of the odds, in spite of it all, she actually did make a friend out there.

RATE THE EPISODE 481 Responses

The final episode of the first half of S3 was another banger with positive reactions. Compared to earlier in the season when manga readers seemed more dissatisfied with the adaptation, we are happy to see that the final episodes of the arc turned out to be a much more positive experience!

Considering this episode was essentially just the calm before the storm, I was pleasantly entertained by it. Not the best episode because not a whole lot happened, but still it did what it needed to do.

I was super worried they would change something in this episode but thank Ymir-sama it's okay.

IT WAS AWESOME AND THAT ENDING IS ONE OF THE BEST THING THIS ANIME HAS EVER MADE!

This episode was so good! And funny! And angsty at the end! All the ingredients that make a good AOT episode

Very good, the preview was spooky and the whole episode had humor to lighten the mood, some emotional stuff and High Anxiety Cliffhangers to finish us off. Its gonna be a long 6 months.

It was a really good episode. It followed manga perfectly. Every ep. of Uprising should has been like that. Too bad it wasn't, that why I rated the whole series pretty lowly. Honestly, I expected something better. But that was fine, not the worst. Yet, I would have changed a lot.

Really good way to end this half of the season. Can't wait to see the next half. It was nice to see a "calm before the storm" episode.

It was a brilliant idea to end the first part of season 3 right there, by doing this we were given proper construction to this arc.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SEASON TAKING A BREAK UNTIL APRIL? 481 Responses

The Survey Corps’ sendoff was the most favorite moment of the episode, followed closely by Eren and Jean’s nostalgic fight. Levi and Erwin’s talk after the meeting made it to third most favorite scene of the episode, followed closely behind by Eren, Armin and Mikasa’s conversation. Everyone losing their minds over meat was another favorite.

Erwin was so perfect, I loved his little laugh, I thought the whole interaction with him and Levi was done so well... god, I'm gonna miss him so much, it actually hurts.

Good breather episode, comedy gold with the dinner scenes, and the send-off was just as fun as it was touching. Also, the extra scene was creepy and great, but I hope anime-only watchers don't spoil themselves trying to find the meaning to it...

I think they did a really good work with the Erwin x Leviv talk, and EMA talk... Since enfatizing Erwin's reasons, and showing Armin's, It became more clear Levi's choice in future

I loved EMA talk... it made me pretty sad because of the events which now are taking place in the manga. That was good to see them together in the anime.

My Eruri shipping heart was in tatters, I tell you. I've been looking forward to the ""I'll break your legs"" scene for ages now, and shit, watching it was a literal punch to the gut. Erwin's beautiful roar of victory on the wall, his final ""SUSUME"" just... I was in awe.

The 104th dinner scene was just perfect! It's been so long since we had a scene of such warmhearted camaraderie, it really brought back all my season 1 feels for the babies. Beautifully done.

Overall great Episode, really liked how they foreshadowed Erwins Demise and his conversation with Levi, EMA talk was great too, and the serumbowl scene made for an amazing cliffhanger

DID THE GLITCHED ENDING SCARE YOU? 483 Responses

So, the story behind this one is that one of the pollsters posted this “question” on our original document as a joke while another one of us was at work. When the one at work got off, they put the question onto the poll form while the person who created the “question” was not online, not realizing it was meant to be an unpublished joke. This was completely overlooked during the final proofread. It was never actually intended to make it onto the poll but since one of us always tries to rush through things, here we are! In any case, we hope you guys had a good laugh, because we all collectively lost it when we realized the mistake much too late!

Glad that Erwin and the crowd’s screaming was a ‘dialogue’ and that he screamed again.

Makes sense, given how its purpose is to set up the new arc. Not much need to leave things out for the sake of pacing.

They done it so perfectly! I love that episode and love the hope in the air, my man similing and being happy, I love they see people cheering for them. THAT was earned.

It still modified some moments like Armin thinking of Eren and Mikasa instead of the bullies in the manga. Maybe it's better and more consistent with the following events.

Thanks God! The whole series should has been this way. Compared to the sad 1st episode of Uprising, this one was a true masterpiece.

THE CHAPTER SIGNIFIED THE START OF A NEW ARC, BUT THE ANIME USED IT TO END THE FIRST COUR, WAS THIS A BENEFICIAL DECISION? 478 Responses

The majority of folks thought shifting the send-off to the end of the cour to create an uplifting cliffhanger was a good way to end the season.  Several people called attention to how much contrast was felt between such a positive ending and the credits scene.

I think it works great, especially the triumph of the send off and the "oh shit, what's happening" moment in the ED

should have been the first ep of the next arc, with the send off as the cliffhanger

It was a nice, fun send off for the arc. Has the suspense of the scouts going towards the foes. The next episode with the next chapter/s will be perfect for getting back into the series after 6 months

WAIT Studio used it as an effective cliffhanger but from an adaptation perspective it's just like the Wall Titan. Something to keep the audience's attention at the cost of the narrative's flow. If the season was going to be split then rushing the Uprising Arc at breakneck speed resulting in one extra episode was pointless.

The opening of 73 is a perfect opening for the second cour, so I knew from the beginning of the season that ending in this chapter would be their aim. The second half won't struggle for content, and they can either push ahead flashbacks (I expect some of Bert's parts from 96 making it into the adaptation of 77) or content that didn't make it in the first half used to extend other parts (Eren's experiments for Armin realizing how to beat Bert in 81)

I think this will help the second part by being on the way to Shiganshina to start it off.

LEVI WASN’T EXPLICITLY SHOWN EAVESDROPPING UNTIL THE END OF EMA’S CONVERSATION, DO YOU THINK THIS DIMINISHED THE FORESHADOWING? 478 Responses

The vast majority of respondents agreed that as long as we saw him listening to them, that’s ultimately all that matters. A small few believe that not showing him listening in on them earlier will diminish the overall impact when he makes his decisions later, however.

I don't think it matters, especially if the anime includes a flashcut to this moment post-decision, which will make its important even more obvious for viewers who may not remember this scene at all.

I'm not sure, I guess it did seem more ambiguous here. They'll flashback to it when serumbowl happens though.

No, but i think it was nice in the manga to see that at the beginning of the conversation he was standing and ended up on the floor by the end of it. Small detail, but i took it like he didn't mean to listen in the beginning but decided to stay in the end because of what he was hearing?

No, because it was a detail it meant a lot more. Subtle details have greater impact in visualities, manga is a different medium and the scene was used properly for its medium.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT WIT SHOWING *THAT PART* OF THE RTS ARC AS A TEASER? 480 Responses

Honestly, I thought it was stupid as fuck and a cheap way to keep hype up for anime-only people. I would've preferred my anime-only friend to go into RTS completely blind.

I think it's great because it lends itself a lot of hype for the next half as well as leaving it very open ended. Especially because they cut out lines about the serum.

I think this teaser shocked more the manga readers than the anime onlines.

It was brilliant. Anime only watchers don't often get the experience of agonizing over certain cliffhangers monthly, but with this flashforward looming in their head, they have a whole season of suffering ahead of them. SUFFER LIKE US, ANIME ONLIES!

I really liked it but I think they could have shown a part of Bert/Reiner/Zeke’s convo since we saw Bert and Reiner at the end of the episode, and it would have anime-onlies wondering who the glasses guy is

I was shocked and hyped at seeing them include this scene, but at the same time I’m sad that anime-onlies were spoiled that at the very least Mikasa, Eren, and Levi will survive until this scene, destroying any tension of them dying

I'm really conflicted; on one hand, I was very surprised in a positive way, cause it was a ballsy and unexpected move. On the other hand, I understand that anime viewers might be sick of spoilers bc of the scene at the beginning of ep1.

I’m going to have 6 more months to mentally prepare myself for the return to shiganshina arc and I still won’t be ready

from an adaptation perspective it's going to be the same as the previous seasons. WAIT Studio excels at certain aspects of packaging SnK into anime, but as a whole it's a bad, rather than amazing, adaptation.

I'm definitely looking forward to RTS okay, but I'm dreading it more, honestly. But the one thing I'm looking forward to, and really hoping they'll animate, is Levi taking down those Titans on the way to Zeke. I know the focus is on Erwin's last charge in the manga, and rightly so, but DAMN, I want to see Levi do that -I honestly don't think anyone, even Mikasa, could do what he did there.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?

A pretty decent choice for a midseason finale. But most important, a pretty good choice for episode 49. Once we're back in April, the series will be celebrating having made it to 50 episodes. Just 2 years ago, we were wondering if we'd ever get episode 26, and now we're getting to a landmark episode that will be exciting and memorable! Nothing between chapters 70-72 could've worked as such a landmark, in my opinion, but chapters 73-74? Absolutely perfect for it.

My heart is filled with so much Eruri that I may cry. You could literally see how much concern Levi had for Erwin in his eyes.

I'm an Erwin Lover™ and the show is gonna come back right around my birthday so this was Great and I'm Fine

It was out of character to see Eren fully clothed.

The moment when SC were cheered up and Erwin was so confident and happy and then they left into the sunset gave me goosebumps and almost made me cry :') it was a beautiful, strong, encouraging moment for SC!!

Let me just tell you how fucking HYPED I am for the next season after those previews during the ED. HYPED. And Jesus fuck yes, Armin looked like a charred French fry that got left behind in the oil. THANK JESUS. I was afraid WIT might downplay that, but no, my boy gonna be the CRONCHIEST.

The glitches were great and not too spoiler-y but WIT absolutely ruined it with the Eren/Mikasa/Levi scene. They showed too much.

This episode. THIS FUCKING EPISODE. Man what a way to end the cour. REALLY, standing ovation to WIT. That glitch ending was just like that tiny Titan-in-the-wall scene at the end of season 1 that made me go looking for the manga. Absolutely brilliant stuff.

Top 5 Soul Eater characters :3 ?

hOLY FUCK MY FIRST ASK—

Okay, uhm… This might be long XD

1) Maka Albarn: She’s my role model, ever since I watched SE I strive to be like Maka because she’s an amazing girl even though she’s a bit unreasonable sometimes.

And, holy fuck, she has the best school, the best mind, the best partner, and the best friend circle. I love how she’s very brave and how she uses her courage to get through anything that stands in her way. Also, she’d kick your fucking ass if you ever touch her friends specially if it’s Soul. I still strive to be like Maka though :D But in my own way ;v;

2) Soul Evans: I have always found pianos cool but what made me want to learn how to play one is this guy, so now I kinda do (only with a basic keyboard, not a grand piano bc I’m broke). Plus, I love how he’s always there for Maka, and how he thinks of strategies and… Basically everything ?

I mean that one time in the anime, he hesitated using his piano (the one in the Black Blood room) in fear of scattering the Black Blood throughout his whole team—but he knew it’d help them team resonate against Mosquito. And there’s that part in the manga where he basically saved everyone from madness using his piano skills to redirect Maka’s anti-demon wavelength into Arachne’s webs. He also gave Maka the idea of beating Giriko’s ass in the manga by doing that “Soul Adagio” thingy.

So yes, I think Soul is more intelligent than he’s ever given credit for. We all need a Soul in our lives and I’m still looking for mine.

3) Death the Kid: YASSSS MAH SYMMETRY BOI ILY

Anyway, yes, Kiddo. Damn, I have always found him amazing. Behind all the symmetry tantrums and the comedy he gives in the anime, he has this sad side, like… He feels he’s not good enough to be a shinigami almost all the time. But even though he’s like that, he’s very calm and reasonable (when he’s not having tantrums that is).

I love Kid because of his composed nature even in the most earthshaking things, because I myself cannot do that—I freak out at a lot of things, but yeah. Kiddo, the cool kiddo. I’d like to draw him but I can’t really do it properly ;-;

4) Blackstar: MY HYPER STAR BOY ! Yes, Blackstar. I love how he never gave a fuck about people hating him for being a part of the Star Clan. I can’t do that—I feel very insecure when people point out shit about me, so I love him for being confident with himself because I’m kinda not.

I idolize our almighty idiot for being a brave, happy kiddo who accepted why his people were killed. To be honest, I see more in Blackstar than just the series clown, though. I love how he matured in the manga, and I love how he cares for each and everyone of his friends—heck, he broke his arm for Maka and swore to let anyone tear his fucking spine apart as long as it kept his friends safe. When he faced Crona he also thought of how Maka would cry if she ever sees her and just—Blackstar, y'all. Idk abt u but I need a friend like this kid.

5) Tsubaki Nakatsukasa:MY SPIRIT ANIME CHARACTER ! Except she doesn’t really use swear words like I do, and she lives healthily. *shrug*

I see a lot of myself in Tsubaki—it may not be obvious here in the internet but I’m very shy and polite in real life. In fear of offending anyone I choose to go along with a lot of things and barely say no to stuff… Like Tsubaki. I also have a hard time saying what I feel… Like Tsubaki. And I feel very touched when people (like Blackstar) understand that I need time before I’m actually able to tell what I feel… Like Tsubaki. Lastly, when I’m angry I do a lot of things I don’t mean to do. Like Tsubaki. (one time she sent a ninja star to Blackstar’s head in the anime for peeping loudly, and went over to him the next second and said “oh did I do that ?”)

Tsubaki is a very lovely character. I love her for keeping up with Blackstar even though he’s very stupid most of time, and for, like—being the mother of the squad. Yes. Cheers to my spirit anime character please.
