8. The biggest NumberWon data and info leaks were rumored to be an inside job.
NumberWon, the largest company/agency in Hamsin, has experienced several data leaks over the years, but one stands out as the most significant and more publicized. This breach occurred after one of their bigger promotional parties, a tradition that mixed staff and sometimes the public. The day after the event, it was discovered that a massive data breach had compromised and covered almost the entire company. The breach exposed sensitive information, like employee records, account logins, private communications, internal and internal scandals, and so much more. Someone (or a group) anonymously had access to every corner of NumberWon’s operations. The immediate question was.. Who had done this, and why? Rumors obviously quickly spread, with the most popular theory being that it was an inside job. HAMFO, very big news station, had reported on the leak, talking about the little information that the anonymous group or person had already made public. However, even they struggled to identify the culprit, with the strongest evidence pointing to someone who had been inside the building during the party. In response, NumberWon launched an investigation, even placing a bounty on the anonymous person. They were forced to reboot their entire system, eliminating all compromised data, redesigning their websites and accounts, and requiring all employees to sign all new NDAs and contracts. Despite their efforts to figure things out, the strongest lead remained that the breach had been an inside job. The mass hiring they had conducted shortly before the breach was less thorough than usual, and as a precaution, all new hires from that period were terminated immediately after the incident. This only fueled the speculation that the leak was carried out by someone within their own staff. At the end of it all, NumberWon still had no clue who was behind the breach. They had successfully rebooted everything anyway, so the mystery seemed die down, but some curiosity still wandered.. But this wouldn’t be a fun fact if I didn’t tell you who it was, right? The breach happened almost by accident. What began as a mix of hacking and digging for information turned into someone unintentionally grabbing everything from under NumberWon’s feet. The culprit? Someone at HAMFO. Already known for their strong information gathering team, they had always been good at getting almost data, but they never intended to go that far. Of course, no one at NumberWon or the public knows the truth, and HAMFO is working hard to avoid making the same mistake again..
17. Reign, Khoson, and Yasmin as teens thought it would be a good idea to learn Chinese to secretly talk to each other. A current time, they are still weirdly fluent and use it here and there to communicate.
When they were younger, they decided to learn Chinese as a secret way to communicate with each other (100% during some weird rebellion phase). They chose Chinese because their school had a large number of Chinese exchange students at the time, making it easier to make friends who spoke the language along with getting help with learning it. Even years later, they still use it occasionally, whether for private conversations in public spaces or just an inside joke..
18 - Thalia and Dara were supposed to be the two therapy women. Although the two actual woman are also probably very gay for each other, it’s now 4 different people
The therapy women (still unnamed), explained in another fact (19), were almost connected and changed into Thalia and Dara because they did not have a story or names at the time. However, they have now become two separate lesbian couples. Love them all dearly.

More chatting about BCS w/ @brilliantalpaca
Them: I read the whole thing, Ill reblog it later because there is some stuff I want to give my two cents on
But this is wild to me
Tumblr media
Hello? He graduated from law school? Why is blud in charge of the mail?
Me: I mean OP is right; Jimmy isn't OWED a partnership at HHM. The problem is that when Jimmy and Kim ACCEPTED that the firm wasn't going to promote them and struck out on their own, HHM still interfered. I do think Jimmy has a bit of a NiceGuy complex, but not nearly as badly as Walt did. "NiceGuys finish last, so if you're pulling ahead you were never really that nice" is definitely a theme of BCS. But "Who is watching the watchers? Who gets to decide who the gatekeeper is?" is also a theme. Plus... Kim is a god and when she asks for something, you give it to her or you die. Granted, Howard and Chuck had no way of knowing that last part, but still.
Them: The whole middle part is so cracked
Cooked with gas
In any case, and considering Jimothy started a law firm inside a beauty parlor, I think he would have been happy at HMM the second he stopped to push a cart, at least for a while
Like, I dont think the man is ambitious for power or a title or authoritas, but for respect
Thats why he leaves the firm at... You know, the cocobono table place, sorry its been a while
So I think if his brother had respected him a little bit more, well
Me: On the one hand, he just wanted to work next to his brother and his girlfriend. But like... he got that opportunity with Davis and Mainn and he hated it. That place was stuffy; he needed his freedom. It's one thing for Chuck to say "I don't think my brother would be a good fit at my firm. Even if he is talented, his eccentricities are a liability; I don't want to hire him"; I mean that's basically the same conclusion Kim reached. The problem is we never see Howard do any actual work, so the impression we get is that HHM siphons off labor from its employees, then refuses to compensate them adequately or even acknowledge their role as contributing partners. And again, there was definitely some sort of discrimination going on with the way Chuck penalized Kim for associating with Jimmy.
Them: They also put him an intern-copter on his ass, which would sit badly with anyone
And Chuck actively tried to prevent him to practice
Which is very messed up
Me: Again, I can't really blame them. Frankly Jimmy should have treated Erin with more respect; she had worked there longer and even if she was kind of passive aggressive about it, she was just trying to show him the ropes.
Them: I can't blame them either, but thats because I know Jimmy
In any case, trusting the narrative at one hundred percent and confusing Jimmy with a poor little meow meow is something I'm guilty of
Ill admit that
When he usually makes his own bed
Me: Under normal circumstances, I would say wanting to get someone disbarred for sabotaging you is pretty understandable. But again, Chuck started it by stealing Mesa Verde. Jimmy loved Chuck, but he wanted Chuck to admit that he too could be a bit of a hypocrite and a sleazebag. That he wasn't better than Jimmy. And the truth is he really wasn't.
Them: He really really wasnt, he just dressed it up better
Chuck is such an university profesor its insane, they nailed him
Me: To by a hypocrite is to be human. And honestly I think you're an irresponsible lawyer if you CAN'T acknowledge your own biases.
Them: I also didnt realize that yeah, we never see Howard doing... Work on his own, huh?
Like he's there at meetings, with Chuck at the Mesa Verde hearing
But what does he *do*
Me: I assume Howard does actually do quite a bit of paperwork. But this is a tv show, so if they didn't want us to see him as a symbol of the owning class, as a wage thief, they should have framed the story differently.
Them: It is implied, if not stated, hes riding his dad coat tails, right?
I dont know, he may actually just... Be there
Well, no, hes at court at times
Because if we didnt had anything, you know, to a point that becomes a conscious choice even if hes a secondary character ok a tv show
Me: The main reason I'm inclined to cut Jimmy some slack is that on some level, Jimmy knows that he's just plain bad at making choices for himself. He wants to be bossed around, just by someone he trusts. He spent half his life outsourcing his ethical code to his brother, and the other half just following whatever marching orders his wife gave him. So at least in the later seasons of BCS, the best defense to the idea that Jimmy is a bad person is simply "That part was Kim's idea; you want to complain, take it up with management". Right or wrong, he's a man who can biblically submit to his wife; that kind of puts him in a whole other moral universe.
Them: The show also makes ir very easy to fall into the "Jimmy logic hole", where everything he does gets justified by a slight that happened six episodes ago
Me: But like I said, this is why him going to prison is kinda fucked. Instead of growing the hell up and thinking for himself for once, Jimmy surrenders and turns his agency over to the ultimate daddy; the government.
Them: Lel true
Thats actually a good reading
Me: I think it's best to think of Hamlin-Hamlin-McGill-McGill-and-Wexler as just one big firm that ended up cannibalizing itself; neither half of the entity ever became fully independent from the other, and eventually fighting over clients sunk both halves of the business. Kind of fitting with the theme of wildflowers growing on an unmarked grave, I like to think about Iris's relationship to that business and that building. This big, bombastic story we spent six years chronicling, in just two short decades nothing will be remembered about it besides a "how I met your mother" anecdote. George Hamlin wanted to build a family business... well, he got one.
Them: The causes of the firm's undoing bring writing on its own foundation
You know, George Hamlin bringing his son and Chuck bringing his brother
Kim getting dragged into the drama of the whole thing and doing what she does in the show
Me: yes exactly
Them: It all becomes inevitable
Me: Instead of having a long(er) life in prison, my timeline ends with Jimmy dying at age 69 from a heart-attack while fleeing a protest-turned-riot, being remembered as a beloved patriarch martyred for a righteous cause. It's a happier ending than what Vince and Peter would leave him to, but it's still supposed to feel a little perverse: this was the path Kim put him on when she got him out on parole, and on some level she knew this. Iris blames their mother for what happened, and they're not wrong, but at this point remorse is an emotion that doesn't come easily to Kim anymore. She gave him the best life she could, but nothing lasts forever. Still, nothing is set in stone. Jimmy will be a martyr for Kim's revolution if he lets her make him one. But saying "no" to her - AND MEANING IT - is the hardest thing to do. Especially when he knows she's right; that Iris is going to inherit a police state if the parents don't act preemptively.

TIM TAM TOM: no
mahtin: Well I'm going to say it anyway to determine if an apology is in order
sash (❁´◡`❁): Yes go ahead don't let Tim convince you otherwise
mahtin: Well
mahtin: I may have started a bit of a fight with him?
mahtin: Might have implied that he didn't pay attention in Uni?
mahtin: I was completely pulling it out of my arse but I was tired of being corrected on a bunch of little things like I'm SORRY it's been over TEN YEARS since I did ANY education
mahtin: So I dug in my heels on some inane little thing and now it's kind of. On sight
mahtin: This has been going on for a few days now? I'm surprised nobody picked up on it honestly
mahtin: I mean who has an argument about spiders? Even most arachnophobes agree that the jumping ones are cute! They're small and fuzzy what's not to love!
TIM TAM TOM: martin you do not owe him an apology
TIM TAM TOM: i think you promoted yourself to his best friend actually
sash (❁´◡`❁): He's going to be asking you out any day now
TIM TAM TOM: married within the year
sash (❁´◡`❁): However I wouldn't bring up spiders again with him he's got the 'intense arachnophobia' note on his employee file
mahtin: He showed you his file?
sash (❁´◡`❁): No
mahtin: Oh
TIM TAM TOM: if sash says dont bring something up w someone it means she hacked into somewhere she shouldnt and saw things nobody wanted her to see
TIM TAM TOM: she does that with everyone btw
sash (❁´◡`❁): It's easier to just look at the 'phobia' part than dance around like "hey, most people at the Fear Research Institute are absolutely fucking terrified of something, which club are you in? what should I not talk about with you?"
sash (❁´◡`❁): It's EFFICIENT and not personal information in the FEAR RESEARCH INSTITUTE it's basically an icebreaker question in Artifact Storage
sash (❁´◡`❁): For example
sash (❁´◡`❁): No clowns or mannequins with Tim
TIM TAM TOM: or creepy dolls
sash (❁´◡`❁): Or creepy dolls
sash (❁´◡`❁): I'm fine with pretty much anything in all honesty but I'll let you know if that changes
mahtin: Does my file say anything? I don't remember what I said my fear was
sash (❁´◡`❁): Yours was something existential like 'loneliness' or something like that
sash (❁´◡`❁): I don't tend to get that deep with my coworkers so if it's not going to come up in conversation I don't put in as much effort to remember it
mahtin: ... Interesting
mahtin: I don't remember what I said my fear was but I'm fairly certain it was something concrete
mahtin: Might've been snakes? I used to be scared of snakes for a while
mahtin: Then I got a part time job at a pet store for some extra money and their snakes were cool so no more of that
mahtin: But I was only asked the fear question once? During my interview?
sash (❁´◡`❁): ... Weird
TIM TAM TOM: ... indeed

"I like quality people"
I was watching a clip of orange man in his younger years, i like what he said in the interview." i like quality people. Who doesn't?
I would take quality over quantity and vote change in our leaders in today current state. Leaders who give a shit more about thier employees. Which i had greatest opportunity to work for a President of quality. Versus a evil leader focused more on thier POWERFUL title, authority, ABUSE OF POWER AND CONTROL. One of the takeaways in RNC that resonated with me was YOU EARN YOUR MERIT FROM HARDWORK, IN BIDEN HIGH CRIME, HIGH INFLATION, HIGH TURNOVER OF EMPLOYMENT and SEEING THESE LAZY SOCIAL MEDIA CITIZENS OF USA GET IT EASY, WHILE HARD WORKING ONES ARE ONES WHO ARE LAID OFF, FIRED, PART OF REDUCTION AND FORCE and these party goers get to chill relax travel and come back to being employed. Who the fuck wants that, lazy fuckers getting pay check? The ones who work hard are ones that are part of reconstructing/reduction in force phase. HATE THESE LEADERS WHO WAIT TILL THE LAST MIN, SAY WHOOPS WE LOST MONEY IN Q2, Q3 FROM OUR OVERALL YEAR OVER YEAR RESULTS. That's why we little people on lower level tell you what the fuck is going on and leadership they dont fucking care until last min when high level leadership requests information. why would we still want have leadership who dont give a fuck, but cares more about title, power, control, greed. Instead utilizing American people, they will fire American people outsource thier jobs to cheaper labor where immigrants, international folks come in.
orange man said at his first rally, if they would devote thier time and energy on helping shape America instead of attacking me, then we would be stronger, better and helping the future generation create American dream. but no, demoncrat focus more on hatred. i don't like that.
but the leadership i was with in my prior company was not doing that.
This evil ugly director mom was more focused on her hatred revenge to eliminate all employees of all levels she had control over thier employment. It was more DO AS I SAY, and dont motherfucking question me bitch. Everyone hated her, but since she was director thier was no way any of us can take her down except leave the company respectfully until karma catches up to her evil ass. Alot great tenure workers, leaders quit because WHO The FUCK WANTS SEE THAT BITCH SUCCESSFUL and grow with her undeserving title. She was able recruit a lot of her demonic friends into the company as our group called it spies, ears to get that motherfucking information and use it against you when the time is needed. Who think you will ever experience this? you will if you vote for more Demoncrat into office, into leadership that sells/markets the bullshit online but once power is in place, all bets are off. I mean this director hired lazy ass person in the company to copy/mirror all of the hard work i have achieved over the years and slowly gradually attempted to terminate my employment once they got all they need.
They gave that lazy ass bitch one week PAID TIME OFF, PTO to go on a motherfucking cruise while i get stuck covering her shit, supporting 50 others and my job/role responsibilities i was hired for. And if i requested PTO, they put me through hell just to earn one mental day off.
yet leadership were like demoncrat, they would encourage PTO in meeting like selling to employees we care about your well being bullshit. but be selective who they give paid time off to and give paid time off to thier puppets in exchange to piss the hard worker off so they can quit. What kind leadership does that?
Once that lazy new bitch was freshed off her fucking cruise, they continue to force me to train her on everything i did, make her become me. I'm like bitch you will never be me, i never want be like you. The hell i went through with this corrupted leadership. people who were promoted in underserving titles/raises, who didnt have to lift a fucking finger to earn it up kiss ass to certain groups like they are as orange man says innocent baby.
Next step in the director/supervisor/ and its minions was to make a paper trail includes documentation of lies, information like you were defiant not listening to director rules/orders. As if you were a prisoner with a paycheck and if you don't sign it then hello all she has to do is use her HIGH director title of authority and just fire you, cause she the director.
But we fuckers are smarter than that, you better believe me it was a hard to finally stand up and give that F you to her and new leaders new president of company who will go down in hell.
This is the demonic leadership demoncrat, biden put in place in our states whatever its blue and red. I vote we don't have leadership like this making it miserable enough for hard working people to go mental and lazy people on social media doing half ass work half ass job, gets vacation days as they please and ends up with a promotion/title change which is a slap in the face for a lot individuals.
That's what this new leadership in place for lots of companies across the board. make up stories, call names. all that bullshit. I can definitely digress with this orange man

Tumblr media
sunoo
was only recently employed as an afternoon shift employee and was both shocked and distressed after discovering the cafe didnt have an instagram
“what do you MEAN you dont have instagram??? how do we post selfies???” “sunoo we sell coffee” “NO ONE WANTS COFFEE JUNGWON THEY WANT CUTE BARISTAS”
starts an instagram for the cafe and takes aesthetic pictures of his latte art
his selfies get way more likes though
speaking of his latte art, he masters the skill like a week in and everyone else is incredibly jealous
their jealousy wears off when jungwon tells him that he has to start training the new apprentices
pretends he forgot how to do it for like a week but it hurts his pride so he begrudgingly agrees to train the apprentices instead
in his free time he can be found snapping pictures around the shop, eventually expanding to taking pictures of the others too
“sunghoon stop moving you look cute and i need to take a photo” “sunoo im holding hot milk” “does it look like i care beauty is pain sweetie”
other than that, he sometimes sits in the booths to snack on muffins and do his homework since he only comes in to the shop for about an hour during his school lunch break and on the weekends
you meet sunoo after applying for an apprenticeship, wanting to get a job before you finish high school and start college
seen as though jungwon looks like the boss, you approach him, nervous for your first shift
“i’m here for the apprenticeship program?” “oh yeah! one second!”
he trots off to the back room, leaving you standing awkwardly in the middle of the cafe
“SUNOO GET OFF JAY YOU HAVE AN APPRENTICE TO TRAIN” “*gasp* YOU MADE ME SMUDGE HIS LIPSTICK I'M QUITTING” “NO YOURE NOT GET OUT THERE RIGHT NOW”
the yelling pauses before who you presume is sunoo stomps through the back room door, a scowl on his face
he spots you, groaning loudly “are you the apprentice?”
“yes” you say meekly, guilty for seeming to ruin his shift
he gestures you to follow him behind the counter, pulling an apron out from under the sink and shoving it to your chest
its clear that hes pissed, yanking his tools out from the cupboards as you tie your apron behind your back quietly
“have you made coffee before?” “only instant coffee” “oh fantastic”
he seems to be getting more irritated by the minute before he takes a deep breath and starts directing you around the machines
“to do the art, you angle the mug like this and draw with the milk, but it wont show until it reaches the top so dont go crazy”
as if its nothing, he demonstrates by drawing a perfect swan in the milk, setting the latte down and dusting his hands off
“wow… thats amazing” “i know right? no one here appreciates me enough” “they should! this is the best i’ve ever seen”
he grins at your compliment, nodding with satisfaction and sending a wave of relief over you as you notice he looks less angry with you now
“um… im sorry if i interrupted whatever you were doing before” “oh, that? i was just doing jay’s makeup” “you like makeup? me too! i’ve never seen a boy interested in it though, thats really cool” you smile genuinely at him as he blinks in surprise
“really? you think its cool?” “definitely!”
you watch the gears turn in his head before he smiles widely, seeming to have come to some kind of revelation as he nods
“i like you.”
your cheeks heat up immediately, but before you can say anything in return, he starts calling out for jungwon, leaning over the counter
“JUNGWOOON, CAN WE HAVE THIS ONE?”
“well thats up to them” he looks up from the table hes wiping down, adjusting his apron as he walks over to the counter
“so youre all finished with the course? i hope sunoo wasnt too much for you”
“i wasnt! anyways, youre employed, okay?” “sunoo stop theyre just an apprentice”
he groans loudly, irritated once more as he whips his head to you
“you have to work here, ok? i said so, so come back and apply or i’ll be mad!”
you laugh at his antics and smile “i’ll see what i can do”
after jungwon pries sunoo off of your arm, you return your apron and leave the shop with a wave
“YOU BETTER COME BACK!” is the last thing you hear as you step out onto the street, the bell ringing to signal your exit
a week later, you return to the shop, slightly anxious that your new friend(?) might have forgotten about you
but this is quickly washed away when you hear a high pitched squeal from the counter
“JUNGWON! HURRY THE FUCK UP AND GET THE FORMS THEYRE HERE”
you laugh as you approach the counter, a teasing tone on your voice
“are you supposed to be talking to your boss like that?” “whats he gonna do? fire me? im the only one who can make coffee in this place” “true”
soon enough, jungwon comes out of his hiding place, his hands clasped together
“im really sorry to ask this but please, you have to work here, sunoo hasnt shut up about you all week and i dont know if i can stand him anymore, i’ll even pay you extra please dear god”
you give sunoo a look, only receiving an innocent smile and puppy eyes back
“sure, i’ll take the job!”
jungwon sighs in relief as sunoo begins jumping up and down, yelling something about having his own little baby to take care around the shop as you groan, covering your blushing face
once you have your hours established (sunoo made you take the same as all of his, but you did the nights instead of the afternoons on the weekends, to his displeasure), you get straight to working
… well, sort of
it was hard to get work done with sunoo pestering you around the clock
“you think im cute right?” “yes sunoo” “even though i have bags under my eyes? “yes sunoo” “you promise?” “yes sunoo” “good”
admittedly he is slightly of help when it comes to the more fiddly parts of making coffee, but every other second of the day he seems to be flirting nonstop
“can i kiss you?” “no” “why not” “sunoo we’ve been over this” “BEING AT WORK ISNT A VALID EXCUSE”
worn down after his incessant yelling all day, you find yourself snapping faster than usual
“we’re not even dating, sunoo! why would i kiss you!? just stop playing with my feelings already!”
for the first time since you’ve known him, sunoo goes quiet
“why not?”
“what are you talking about now sunoo?” “why arent we dating”
now its your turn to go quiet
“do you not like me?” “what? no, sunoo-” before you can reason with him, you watch him quickly rush away from you around the counter, slamming the break room door behind him with tears in his eyes
cursing to yourself, you ensure there are no customers to serve before quickly darting after him
after looking around a bit, you hear sniffling from the supply closet and knock on the door quietly
“sunoo?” “leave me alone!”
you sigh, taking a step back and turning on your heel to face the opposite direction, running a hand through your hair as you think
you spot a dog bed at your feet, suddenly remembering that jake usually keeps his dog supplies covered in dog hair in the closet
“sunoo arent you allergic to dogs?”
“... *sniffle* y-yeah”
after you persuade him to come out by mentioning that his face is going to get all puffy, he steps out, eyes glued to the floor as he looks away from you in shame
placing a hand on his shoulder, you speak to him softly
“sunoo, look at me”
he does, hesitantly, his eyes red and watery and, as you said, puffy and inflamed
despite this, you smile
“i do like you back”
his eyes start watering again, your heart skipping a beat in fear that you had said something wrong
“e-even if my face is all puffy and gross?” his voice wobbles, the tears filling his eyes giving him a sense of vulnerability as you sigh
“yes, even if your face is all puffy and gross”
he smiles at that, shutting his eyes cutely as you press a kiss to his cheek
“and theres your kiss”
he whines “i was supposed to do that!”
“you can do it after we finish work, okay?” “WORK STILL ISNT A VALID EXCUSE…. but maybe today just because i need to ice my face” “yeah you really should, can you even see?” “no not at all” “great”
jungwon
the previous manager left suddenly and jungwon was given a semi-forced promotion as he was the only employee with at least half of a brain cell
poor boy is stressed 24/7
doesnt get paid enough for this
“hey jungwon we ran out out of coffee bea-” “I ORDERED NEW ONES FOUR HOURS AGO NOW SHUT UP IM TRYING TO MAKE SURE THE BOSS DOESNT FIND JAKE’S DOG SHELTER IN THE SUPPLY CLOSET”
goes through hell every day just to make sure the others dont burn the cafe down
is supposed to be on the morning shift but he stays until the afternoon
in his rare moments of downtime, he likes to go around and water the hanging plants around the shop
is that one vine where the mom listens to nicki minaj for the first time and screams “no” over and over whenever ni-ki gets control of the cafe music
“RIKI NISHIMURA WHAT IS THAT ON THE SPEAKERS” “ITS OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR ARIANA GRANDE” “TURN IT OFF THIS IS NOT PG13” “SHUT THE FUCK UP GRANDPA”
is only 16 but acts like a 32-year-old father going through a midlife crisis
lifts boxes of supplies all day yet his joints are famously brittle
“hey jungwon did you hear glass shattering too?” “sorry jay that was my back” “you need to invest in physical therapy” “maybe if i wasnt paying for property damage every other week 😊”
you meet jungwon when you drop into the cafe for a croissant and a coffee before your class starts
usually you come at night maybe an hour before closing so you had never seen him before, but here you were watching this cute but clearly stressed boy scramble around the shop carrying boxes of supplies to the back
trying not to be creepy, you sigh, turning back to your phone after watching him for a solid five minutes straight
as you do, you hear a crash coming from what you assume is the supply closet followed by a disgruntled groan
pausing, looking around at the other customers typing away at their laptops and waiting for another staff member to go check on the boy, you stand up as you discern that he must be the only one working and hesitantly go to see if he’s okay
“hello? are you okay?” you peer through the door, your eyes widening at the sight of him rubbing his head with a wince on his features, supplies strewn around him at his feet and a box knocked over beside him
“ah… um, yes, i’m okay, sorry if i disturbed you with that noise…” he smiles bashfully, pulling himself back onto his feet
“do you need help with all of that stuff?”
he opens his mouth to protest, not wanting to have to ask for help from a customer, but after seeing the amount of crap off of the shelves, he realises that there is no way in hell he’s going to be able to clean all of it up alone before his shift ends
“um… is that okay?” his cheeks flush with embarrassment as you smile
“sure!”
over the next couple of hours you two establish a little system of bagging the spilt supplies and passes them to eachother to put in boxes, chatting never ceasing as you discover that you actually have a lot of things in common
“since you work here, what’s your favourite kind of coffee?” “i like lattes… i cant stand bitter things” “me too! my friend drinks espressos though” “ditch them”
you also find out that he started being homeschooled after becoming the manager as he doesnt have time to attend normal school
the both of you find yourselves laughing nonstop, having fun in eachother’s company
so much so that you end up late for school
“oh shit! i completely missed my first class”
guilty for making you late, he offers to take you
“i can take you?” “you drive?” “well….. not exactly”
once sunoo and ni-ki arrive to care for the shop, he takes you out to the car park, pulling a spare helmet out of his backpack and securing it on your head before giving your head a pat as he gets onto his scooter
“you look cute” “i look like a bug” “a cute bug”
once you get to school, face red after having to hold onto him the entire time, you hop off and pass him the helmet with a shy smile
“thanks for driving me” you mutter, brushing off imaginary dirt from your shirt as you do your best to avoid eye contact, your face still flushed and heart racing
is it possible to develop a crush on someone this quickly???
jungwon is so cute that he makes it possible, you surmise
“of course” he mirrors your nervous smile, a blush finding its way to his own cheeks
as you bow and spin on your heel to start walking inside, he stops you
“wait!”
“what is it?” you turn to him, your heart still thundering against your ribcage at the fond expression he has plastered on his features
“actually… can i pick you up? after school?”
when you pause, your face growing hotter and hotter, he begins to sputter
“i-i’m really sorry, its fine if not! that was way too forward, i just really like you and- oh god that was even more forward- um-” “okay” “yeah i’m sorry that was a stupid questio- wait, what?”
before he can say anything else, your smile widens
“i’ll see you later, okay? don’t be late!” you wave, skipping into the building with a fluffy feeling in your chest
with an awkward wave, jungwon watches you leave, his mouth wide open in shock before a grin replaces his expression
getting back into his seat, the lovestruck smile never leaving his face as he drives off, he begins to count down the minutes until he gets to see you again
ni-ki
works the afternoon shift
technically an apprentice but he gets paid and has been there forever so basically an employee at this point
or he would be if he ever actually made coffee
he sits with the work phone all morning and chooses the music
perpetually dancing to 7 rings by ariana grande (look up his cover. youre welcome in advance)
jungwon and jay scream at him to at least do the mopping to which he complies, but not without performing a whole ass concert with it
once they saw him twirl and dip the mop
eventually they just told him to go back to curating the music because he was scaring customers away and they were losing business
he was horrible at cleaning anyway
“hey jungwon i think i got window cleaner in your plant” “im firing you” “i dont even go here” “STOP QUOTING MEAN GIRLS AND FIX THE DAMAGE YOUVE CAUSED”
you meet ni-ki while youre drinking your coffee at a booth and he plays your favourite obscure indie song so you have to compliment his taste and get to talking
he plays your favourite songs whenever youre in the shop and audibly hisses at anyone who tries to change it
makes choreography to said songs at home and tries to impress you by casually belting it out by your booth
when you compliment his dancing and ask how long hes been practicing that choreography hes all like “oh hahaha it was just casual freestyle super easy peasy”
(hes been practicing for two weeks)
thought he was being super obvious by doing these things but apparently nOT because you have not caught the hint at all and hes getting impatient
asks for advice from the others begrudgingly
“give them flowers” “jay thats so boring” “do you want to use one of my dogs? everyone loves dogs” “wtf jake since when have you had more than one dog” “make them latte art with a heart on it” “sunoo ive literally never made a coffee in my life” “why dont you just ask them out like a normal perso-” “shut the fuck up grandpa thats so weird no one does that”
eventually he settles on sunoo’s idea of making you latte art and he embarks on his journey to make his first coffee
rather than focusing on the actual taste, sunoo tells him to just do whatever so that he can show him how to do the art
“why is it green ni-ki” “you said to do whatever” “and your first idea was to make poison? idk if this is the best idea if youre trying to ask this person out” “shut up and pass me the milk”
burns his hands on the steaming milk jug at least fifteen times and ends up with so many bandaids on his fingers
despite how stiff the bandages are on his hands, he eventually manages to make a sort-of legible heart
“it looks like africa” “have you ever had steamed milk poured on your eyes sunoo?”
poor ni-ki waits for you all day, his heart leaping every time the bell on the door rings only to roll his eyes when it isnt you
he even stays past his shift so youd better let him take you on a date or hes quitting
when you finally arrive he trips over the bucket at his feet he was using to clean and spills dirty water all over his pants
“omg ni-ki are you okay what happened” *five octaves higher* “NOTHING I'M COMPLETELY FINE WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT”
by the time he’s finished cleaning himself up (and by that i mean fixing his hair in the mirror for twenty minutes) he takes a deep breath and walks over to you, somewhat cold latte in hand
“um,” he clears his throat, his face growing red as he slides the mug towards you “i made this for you”
“aw thanks ni-ki! why is it green” “........its matcha?”
youre slightly suspicious but you look back to the mug and slowly realise that the “drawing” slightly resembles a heart, smiling a little bit to yourself
when you look back to him, youre a little confused as to why hes just standing there
“is something wrong?” you press the mug to your lips, taking a sip
“o-uh uh actually, i wanted to ask if… if you would uh maybe sort of go on a date with me”
you can only smile
“yes, but…”
his heart starts beating faster, watching you anxiously
you stand up, taking the notepad and pen from his apron pocket and scribbling your phone number
“only if you promise to learn how to make actual coffee” you wink, handing him the notepad and sauntering out of the shop
hes stood there dumbstruck, stars in his eyes at the slip of paper in his hand
but then he realises: he has a new mission
rushing to the back room, he slams the door open
“grandpa, i need you to teach me how to make coffee right now” “literally why do i pay you”
with your promise in mind, the others see him work more diligently at the counter than they ever have before
“wow youre actually working today?” “shut up i need to figure out how to do this butterfly before i pry my eyes out with a fork” “haha funny joke ni-” “did i stutter”
at the end of the week, he forces heeseung (the cafe’s best coffee maker) and sunoo (the cafe’s best latte artist) to judge his latte
“this is… surprisingly good” heeseung peers into the mug, smiling at the swan ni-ki created with the latte foam as sunoo grumbles “dont tell me im gonna have to start competing with this kid, it probably tastes gross” “it tastes amazing too” “im quitting”
with his coworkers’ notes in mind, he finally works up the nerve to send you a quick message telling you to come into the shop
when you arrive the next day, ni-ki greets you and immediately gets to work, making sure to stand as close as humanly possible to your booth so he can show off his newly acquired coffee making skills
with you only inches away, he does make a mistake and spill milk on his shirt after looking at you and not his hands for a second too long, but you decide to give him the benefit of the doubt when he sets the mug in front of you
“wow! this heart is perfect!”
you smile, looking up to him “did you seriously learn how to do latte art just so you could take me on a date?” “… y-yeah, and?”
you can only chuckle as you press the mug to your lips, readying yourself to drink liquid dirt…
“this is… really good!” you grin, taking another sip and putting the mug down on its saucer
“i think you’ve definitely earned yourself a date… or two”
at this news, ni-ki’s face lights up, shoving the urge to scream down his throat before nodding stiffly to try and contain his excitement with a strained “cool” escaping his lips
“are you okay ni-ki?” “yes just give me one second”
he quickly scrambles to the break room, a moment of silence wafting through the store before a shrill scream fills the air
eyes wide, you turn to jay, who had been manning the till, after hearing him burst into laughter
“what is he doing?”
“we told him the freezer was sound proof”

okay so i have more thoughts but i think the main thing i wanna say on the matter is that 8d, bottom line, is an irresponsible company.
NOTE: TL;DR AT THE BOTTOM. i got wordy 🥴
perhaps an incompetent company masquerading as a competent company? they know to release a statement but not how (release it on all platforms at the same time (not a limited access platform where your staff name shows as anonymous), preferably on the hour, in the morning) or what goes in one (it's like the trick with curious kids - if they ask why and you say nothing, they'll just keep asking why. it's the art of giving a short answer with just enough detail to satisfy them - in kpop this manifests as "medical reasons," "family reasons," or even "decided to pursue an alternate path". "personal reasons" is too vague, as it could refer to literally anything).
on the vaguess of the "why" -
two situations are possible:
1.) he left,
2.) he was kicked out.
and we really can't conclude either way. the below section deals mostly with the second possibility.
a friend and i were talking abt the situation last night and, apologies in advance, this is the best example we could come up with.
⚠️CW / TW - KRIS WU, no details about his actions⚠️
with the kw situation, we can deduce (quite obviously) that his company has low moral standards, as his managers and other company employees around him helped to facilitate his activities for a long time, choosing to keep promoting him as an artist despite his actions.
with 8d, because we have no details here or any from the mill situation months ago, we have nothing to go on as to why 8d kicked him out (if they did). the reason why the kw example was needed is to establish the idea of low moral standards vs. high. basically what im trying to get at is because of the vagueness of their statement, we have no idea if 8d has
⚠️(end tw)⚠️
high moral standards and felt the need to remove him for something minor (ie, he was removed for violating a dating ban, for example)
or the worst two cases:
high moral standards and felt the need to remove him for something egregious (ie, hard drugs (by sk standards), interpersonal conflict, etc)
low moral standards and felt the need to remove him for something egregious (ie, whatever he did was so bad that a company with low moral standards felt the need to remove him)
and this is the crux of why i personally am uncomfortable saying shit like "he's a wonderful person/i'll support him in whatever he decides to do" etc etc etc because if this situation is the worst case scenario- which we have no way of knowing- it would mean that 8d made the responsible decision in an irresponsible way. personally, i would feel uncomfortable supporting him depending on what the reason for removal is.
of course, all of this could be a moot point. he may have decided that that onlyoneof just wasn't the right path for him. maybe he's having health issues. maybe they're not making enough money for him to feel like he has a secure future. there could be any number of innocent reasons that don't mean that he did something wrong and was kicked out.
but the point is that we don't know. and at the end of the day, no matter the situation, this lack of information is irresponsible and only leads to circular speculation.
i will say, after all of this, that i am inclined to believe that he was removed (worst case and the option im leaning towards) or he chose to leave (but not on amicable terms) based on the statement and other contextual factors. terminating a contract takes time, but all factors (for example, him just recently talking abt cb prep, the fact that he was in a video on their official twitter two days ago, and that his selfie is one of their most recent posts on ig). also, the timing of the news (midday in korea, not on the hour) screams unplanned to me. if it was amicable, i feel like we would already have a letter or something from him and they wouldve tried to make this as smooth as possible, but they haven't.
the other thing i just noticed is that the statement says that the contract is being terminated, meaning that they announced before finalizing everything. if they end up going to court instead of settling privately i guess we'll know 🙃 although i assume theyre going for a private settlement
this is all speculation though, which they told us not to do 🤡
TL;DR
bc of the vagueness of the statement we dont *actually* know if he left or was kicked out.
if he was kicked out we don't know if it was for something minor or something crazy
if it was something crazy, i feel that it is irresponsible not to tell fans anything, even though the company would be making the right choice in removing him
if it was something minor, or if he left, i feel that it is irresponsible to him/his image and to fans who are unsure if they should continue to support him
the vagueness of the situation lends itself to assuming the worst

So I keep having SK8 X TEAM ROCKET cross over ideas run through my mind.
Like for Reki and Langa, Langa is a new recruit who joined Team Rocket and is assigned Reki as his team mate who trains him and shows him the ropes and together they become close friends and make a good team capturing Pokemon.
Reki: for him I'd like to think that Oka is the one who brough Reki onto Team Rocket. His family frowned upon him even considering joining and left then behind to pursue being a member. Though at times he feels bad to stealing pokemon from others and feels guilt from it. Which is why he only really accepts missions stealing from horrible people who treat pokemon cruelty or abuse them. For not all of Team Rocket is as cruel as the public makes them out to be. They also help out Pokemon in need. Oka is the one who assigns Reki his missions, Tadashi doesnt interact with Reki's work for Adam sees Reki as weak to the team, almost firing Reki from his position but Oka keeps him on. Making Reki Oka's responsibility.
Langa: like in the anime, his dad died and they move back to his moms home town. Wanting to find a way to help provide to her he stumbles upon Team Rocket who can help him support his mom in need. Though he keeps his job a secret from her, worried of what she might think if she knew he was a member. He keeps his work clothes at Reki's to avoid his mom stumbling upon then while he is out. And like Reki he hates the idea of stealing from ppl, Reki shows him that there is more to Team Rocket than he thinks and they help rescue pokemon and treat them back at the center where Oka works. Also in the short amount of time he becomes very good at his job. Getting Adams attention when he sees Reki's mission status are always coming back complete with no fails. Even being invited to meet Adam himself. Who tried to promote him to a higher position with better skilled ppl to suit Langa's skills and higher pay. Which gets Renga into a fight, and Reki stops going on missions. Which helps Langa realize that he only likes being on team rocket cause Reki makes being a member and doing what he does enjoyable. Which he in the future always declines Adams offer to be promoted
Cherry: would be a higher up, in a black Rocket outfit. He is a legend among them for having the highest record of bringing in pokemon and never failing a mission. He also has Carla in this universe that helps him with making his pokeball throws prefect, and scans rooms for how many ppl are around and pokemon to catch as well as a time limit.
Joe: would be cherry's partner, they also dont get along for he hates following cherrys orders and goes against them when he feels his judgment is better suited than what Carla tells then. He is also a higher up, while cherry is the brains Joe is the muscle. He fights when needed and also carries the bags full of pokeballs. Even tho they argue constantly and sometimes it get them caught they always succeed with their missions.
Miya: Feel like Miya would make a good Ash, he runs into Reki and Langa a lot and stops then from taking pokemon from ppl. But they also get along well, if Reki and Langa weren't in Team Rocket they probably be traveling alongside Miya. Miya also still calls them slimes and Reki likes to pester him.
Shadow: sadly i havent thought for him, he might be a part time florist and team rocket member as well. Im not sure (you guys tell me what shadow would do in this universe)
Adam: He be the leader of Team Rocker. Hes make a great Giovanni. His favorite employee would also be Langa for he shows promise and a great future who Adam would like to train to become leader when Adam is gone. He also doesnt like Reki, sees him unfit to be beside Langa and has tried to promote him to many other partners, a chance to train with the elite, and even give him a black uniform but Langa always declines. Saying he enjoys where hes at and wouldnt be this far if it weren't for Reki. For Reki makes being a member of Team Rocket fun.
Tadashi: Unlike in the anime where Tadashi is Adam's dog, in heres he is Adam's Persian. Also like in the anime he is Adam's secretary. He is the one who goes out to their facilities and make sure everything is running smoothly. Tadashi is also the ones who assigns the jobs listed for them, no one talks to Adam unless it is requested by Adam himself. Other matters are brough to Tadashi. (Poor guy needs a vacation and some well deserved sleep.)

Entitled customer hopes to get free food from supermarket. Not on my watch.
This incident happened a few weeks before and now that I think about it I feel pretty bad but at the same time I feel like she deserved it.
A little background, I had recently graduated from high school and thought I would work for a while until I start college. One of my dads friend offered me a job at his supermarket which I gladly took. My job was a product promoter, which meant I would give out samples of products to the customers and promote the product. Its almost been a month since I have joined and just the week before my parents told me we were moving back to our home country and that I would have to quit my job. The day of this incident also happened to be my last day at work. Now onto the story.
So we were having a busy day as it was a weekend and I had to refill my tray several times. The product I was promoting seems to be pretty popular among the customers cause I had a lot of them coming back for a second helping. This is where our EB A.K,A Entitled bitch walks in. She came over with her kid and grabbed 3 pieces of the food. Both EM and her kid enjoyed it so much they grabbed another piece each. And then they walked away. I thought that was the end of it and carried on with my work.
Boy was I wrong.
A few minutes later EK comes back asking for more food. Now,we did have a limit per customer. No customer was allowed to have more than 12 samples. I obviously allowed and he took the all of the 10 remaining pieces. This ticked me off cause now I have to ask the baker to bake more of these for me which would take quite a while as it was a busy day. But,I still didn't say anything. The kid runs back to his mother and I take my tray off to the baker. When I come back,I see EB and EK waiting for me next to my stall. As soon as I get there EB asks me for more of the samples. Here is how the conversation went.
EB: Hey,we really like these. Can we have more samples?
Me: Oh Im afraid I dont have any right now. Im currently waiting for the baker to bake it.
EB: How long will that take?
Me: Quite some time .maybe around an hour.
I saw EB'S demanour slowly changing
EB: AN HOUR? DO YOU THINK WE HAVE AN HOUR TO WASTE ?
ME: Ma'am you could buy the product. It comes with an offer and-
EB: YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD BUY THIS? *EVIL LAUGH* IM NOT GOING TO SPEND A PENNY ON THIS WHEN I CAN GET IT FOR FREE.
Me: Thats where you're wrong Ma'am,because you're not getting it for free. Infact,I am not allowed to give you anymore samples as you have crossed the limit per customer.
This really pissed EB off because thinks werent going as she planned. She went on about how "CuStOmErS ArE AlWaYs RiGhT" yada yada yada. Frankly speaking I stopped paying attention to her and started checking my phone for texts. Usually I would get in troube for using my phone during work, but today is my last day so whatever. But suddenly I feel EB yanking my apron trying to get mu attention. When I looked at her she said " YOU ARE SOO RUDE. WHY ARENT YOU PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT IM SAYING? YOU KNOW WHAT?AS COMPENSATION I NEED A BOX OF THESE PRODUCTS FOR FREE."
This is when I suddenly thought of an idea. If EB thought she could get away with embarrassing me in front of my coworkers and other customers (we were in a pretty small town where everyone knew each other) then she was wrong.
I put on my best smile and politely said "you know what.youre right. you do deserve it." and I pulled out a box from beside me a hand it to her. She gave me a smug smile and walked away. As soon as she turned I ran to my manager and asked him if I can clock out early today and promised him I would come back that evening for my send off party. I then change into my regular clothes and go to the front of the store to watch the show.
Soon enough EB is at the cashiers paying for her stuff and I notice that she had stuffed the box into her handbag. She knew what she was doing was wrong. She packed her stuff into the plastic bags and starts walking out of the store. But as soon as she gets to the door the alarm goes off and the security stops her. I could clearly see the panic on her face and I ENJOYED IT. The security searches through her bag and found the box. Of course she snitched on me and said I had given it to her but no one believed it cause why would an employee give customers free stuff? (Later, the manger had checked the cctv and I got an earful but whatever) . This was really embarrassing for her because literally half of the town was there witnessing her little perfomance. While she went back home ashamed with no one believing her, I went back to mine satisfied with what Ive done.

jenkai discourse in retrospection
 (long post)
to take a slightly more light hearted break from all the updates regarding the burning sun case, I propose a discourse of jxk in retrospection after gaining all the new knowledge exposed by the media recently
dont read if you dont want to, if you read please dont come attack me for posting what I want on my own blog 🥰
In no way is what I type facts, and I am NOT comparing burning sun case with jxk (jxk is so insignificant and jxk is not a criminal case) yet I will make references to what the media and companies are capable of doing as proven by the exposure from the b. sun case regarding similar behaviours.
---
we now know that the kpop world is not what some once thought - an ideal fairytale land where idols/ the media never lie to us.
The truth:
We finally realize for sure that in korean ent. industry, sexual favours (in exchange for sponsors, promotion via media manipulation, basically fame and safety), offering prostitutes services... all in all using SEX is commonly used in return for connections / power / protection from the 'higher ups'.
why did jxk happen?
I propose: to cover yg x jni sex/sexual activities and jni has sponsors rumours (updated). After knowing yg is to a certain degree (personal assumption: large extent) involved in B.Sun and gangnam clubs, it makes sense to suspect that the jni rumour could be real. look up yg's past history, how he obtained his wife (emphasis, obtain). 12 years older yg 'fell in love' the moment he saw his wife as a second year middle school girl, recruited her at 16, ruined her career and married her. who knows how exactly yg treats his younger girl employees? Who is there to protect them?
Tumblr media
but its just a 'groundless' rumour why was yg desperate?
to propose reasons: 1) it could be real, if so he HAS to camouflage it before it blows up further. 2) even if its not real, he didnt want to put bp's and his own name's reputation at stakes since bp is his most money earning group right now 3) if he doesnt make a deal with dispatch, who ofc are capable of digging deeper and they hate yg (proven by their ability to obtain kkt chats and exposing b.sun evidences) to supply them a fake scandal to cover ygxjni... dispatch WILL expose him. (also keep in mind jni has other sponsor rumour that might or not be true). and 4) - suggested by anon: yg could be taking precautions before b.sun scandal blows up. As we know b.sun revolves around sex crimes, Yg must get rid of the 'boss had sex with employee' label before b.sun blows up. Or else he will get dragged, it would be like adding oil on fire.
this theory is reinforced by allshitpop stating a media outlet discriminately announced 'the yg x jni rumour was false.' why purposefully mention it when no one asked?
Tumblr media
but why ji?
main reason: hes an artist from sm. Yg desperately needed a scandal impacting enough to satisfy dispatch (releasing small unconvincing sandals will discredit dispatch's liability and reputation. ) But what to do when none of yg's male artists are popular enough to create a fuss nor any male groups's careers mature and stable enough to withstand the scandal pressure from the general public? the obvious solution is ofc to beg other big companies - sm or bighxt.
Most popular boy groups atm is still btx and ekso. honestly yg wouldve prefered btx due to their crazy fame, and jni will be their first dating scandal... the reactions would be DRAMATIC. yet in contrast to ekso, btx didnt really need to take that risk in hopes for more popularity. (rmb there would always be adverse effects when being involved in a dating scandal despite positive reactions and large no. of supporters). Also, even if btx has any scandals to cover, bighxt's recent merge with cj-enm (described as 'a powerhouse' aka very huge powerful company) means btx's any potential scandals can be taken care of for now. so that leaves ekso.
Who in ekso fits ji's image the most?
(hence will recieve 'positive' reactions and make them more aesthetically believable. without a doubt, its ji and his on going promoted sex appeal.) Reasons for ji and not other members: 1. theres no harm in giving him a beard (personal belief, ignore point 1. if you think homosexuality/kaisoo pairing isn't plausible) 2. to raise his popularity for his potential upcoming solo. 3. if someone who was involved in dating scandal before came up again, they probably predicts the pairing to be more positively recieved --> more supportors and a more hyped response from the public.
but none of that happened, the scandal was managed poorly. The paris evidence was made in a rush (dates didnt match) park pictures were too ambiguous (again dates and time didnt match), even when dispatch posted a pic of ji in a carpark supposedly came back from hawaii to give jni presents after landing - we learned from ji's own ig live that the day he wore the outfit in the photo, he had already returned to korea a few days ago, was around town shopping and went no where near the airport. Besides these failed attempts there was absolutely no other proof that jxk is real.
why was it poorly managed?
bc this is a rare collab between two big rival companies. Yg was the one begging at the start yet sm wasnt able to take full control of this scandal. Conflicts and disagreements upon makng many decisions were highly likely to occur between these two rivals.
The break up
a lot of fans were shocked when jxk broke up just after 25 days. (brand new record). what else is weird?
sm personally confirmed jxk broke up abruptly. Usually when couples break up, fan rumours start to float around first. But not this time, no rumours surfaced yet sm all of a sudden definitively stated that jxk broke up. Back then I already predicted it maybe because yg or bp got into trouble hence sm wanted to distance themselves as far as possible. I still stand by that idea.
Sm must get away from yg and b.sun case for the sake of theirs/ekso's reputation. sm def dont want to be dragged into the mess. Remember, sm as a huge company themselves def have their own dirt to hide, getting dragged means huge consequences if the investigators target them.
Tumblr media
so why did sm agree in the first place? I assume its bc altho sm knew that yg had dirt to hide, they did not know it was something as serious, severe and big as b.sun case / tax evading case. Therefore, what are the coincidences that sm announced breakup shortly before dispatch sparked reinvestigation into b.sun by posting crucial evidences? (the first chats)
Tumblr media
its highly possible that dispatch warned sm, (which makes them sound like the good guys but no. remember sm is dispatch's source of money and partnered with them many times. b.sun indeed aint directly related to sm, (as for now) dispatch has no reason to ruin sm) Or, sm could have found out through other sources that b.sun case will blow up soon. they quickly cut their collab with yg early, and announced break up probably without telling yg first. (since telling them possibly means giving dispatch away).
Tumblr media
this also suggests that dispatch hates yg but anyway.
The benefits of ji
Comparing the two, jni seems to be the one who gained more from the scandal. She got most of media and the public's attention. there is an explanation for this - shes the 'rookier' one, and the trendier one out if the two since bp is still rising when ekso has reached their plateau. However, ji did gain his own lesser share of attention (indicated by the gained followers on his ig).
I have always said that when idols agree to be involved in a scandal, they are likely to get a 'reward.' but now thinking about it, agreeing to scandals is part of ji's contract, rewards are bonus but not obligations. Besides, the scandal itself supposedly helps ji gain popularity for solo and gains a beard, sm didnt NEED to give him more bonus. Often when idols get more modelling jobs / solo etc after scandals is bc sm uses the risen populairty from scandal as an opportunity to maximise profit by giving them more jobs, it might not be bc sm wants 'pamper' them.
Plan cut short
unfortunately for ji who is not getting his solo soon, the jxk plan flopped due to poor management, and was cut short due to b.sun case. The scandal did not fulfill what it was supposed to do and ended prematurely . Followed by the apparent troubles in sm negotiating contract terms with ekso, (delayed ekso schedules),chxn suddenly getting a solo, and the blowing up of b.sun case, ji might have missed his chance again. Or hes simply still preparing.
to summarize i want to clarify a few things.
- none of these are facts, but an overall picture forming one huge speculation.
- I dont try to defame bp or shame them. i also am not trying to state that girl artists def had sex with the hihgher ups. b.sun has shown us that men always have more power over women, and they rarely get protection.
- I want people to realize the dark side of kpop. The kpop industry is full of conspiracies, media manipulation and lies. What you see on tv is not who your idols are portrayed to be on camera. Don't impose your ideal vision on them and hurt others when reality suggests otherwise.
side note: this theory conveyed reinforcement to statements I've made before
- conspiracies are real and true. Look at all the dark and shady events involved in b.sun case
- media play, mass manipulation exist and are common practice.
- dispatch and sm collab and are partners on a case by case basis.
- idols lie on interviews all the time, their tv persona is different from the real them.
- companies offer protection for their idols
- it is indeed common practice to use one scandal to cover another
ANYTHING can happen in the world of the k ent industry. dont lightly dismiss any possibilities. We must analyse the sum of the situations - the full picture of any events before believing anything we are told.

i understand the heart of where you were coming from with your response on the edelgard post. but i would like you to know that i think you have some misconceptions in your argument. firstly, korea's "religious fanaticism" especially in regards to christianic religion, is more of a phenomenon with korean immigrants, and is not reflective of the predominant religious views in korea itself.
As a korean myself, i can say that it is unlikely that koreans are inclined to be against edelgard simply because the church in game is inclined against her. speaking with various other asian poc, those who do not like edelgard are primarily against her due to much of her activities in-game calling to mind japan’s imperialistic history of invading our countries and colonizing us.
Regardless of whether people believe edelgard’s individual motivations are justifiable or not, it must be recognized that much of the game seems to promote a very pro-imperialistic agenda. even in non-edelgard routes, the endings are very leaned towards centralizing control of the continent often with disregard of independent state’s wishes. edelgard’s position as primary antagonist means that it is easy to see her as the primary representative of this mindset.
I don’t believe that the op is wrong in asserting that americans have favored edelgard while koreans have not for certain reasons. while the context is different, her popularity in japan versus korea can most likely be accounted for along similar lines of a history of imperialism. while fans of edelgard may not be in favor of her specifically for these views, there is a fundamental difference in perspective american and japanese fans are coming to the game with.
I dont believe that the op is wrong in asserting that americans have favored edelgard while koreans have not for certain reasons. while the context is different, her popularity in japan versus korea can most likely be accounted for along similar lines of a history of imperialism. while fans of edelgard may not be in favor of her specifically for these views, there is a fundamental difference in perspective american and japanese fans are coming to the game with. Sorry if this was an excessive explanation.
As a lesbian, i find a lot of traits of edelgard that i like. as a korean, however, my discomfort with her is great enough that i shy away from her. i respect who you choose to like or dislike in the game, and am only aiming to maybe inform what i felt was an argument formed on an incomplete misunderstanding of my country’s culture and history.
TLDR: The korean dislike of edelgard can be more attributed to the history of violent colonization from japan that she brings to mind. as japan executed this kind of behavior against many asian countries, this is a sentiment shared by several of my other asian peers. thank you if youve read all of these rambling messages xp, its an important topic to me and i wanted you to know religious fanatacism at the very least isnt a fully accurate description of my people
Thanks for the explanation and I can understand where you’re coming from when you put it in this way.
I also acknowledge that my negative experiences with Korean immigrants may have coloured my perception on the matter. In India we have had Koreans come here because of Hyundai, and the ones they sent here behaved so badly (I used to joke that Korea was using India as a garbage dump for its undesirables because there was no way the entire country was like that) that many real estate agents in India will not lease properties to Koreans. And now Hyundai has to give its employees racial sensitivity training in order to send them to India. This was in the mid-late 2000s however, so I’m sure things have changed since then.
India has a history of colonization as well by the Mughals and British. Rhea always reminded me of Mother Theresa (who put on a maternal/loving facade to disguise the fact that her hospitals were essentially “dying houses” where she would baptize people on their deathbeds, and was notorious for grooming her patients into thinking their sickness was “a blessing from Jesus”) and other Christian missionaries which was why she left such a bad taste in my mouth. Rhea’s behaviour is how British colonists in general also behaved, pretending to be a benefactor and kind to her subjects while actually abusing them. Even though the Indian Fire Emblem fanbase is very small, the ones who I’ve talked to have a dislike of Rhea for those reasons as well. However I don’t say that people who like Rhea are religious zealots/fanatics/whatever, because your fiction doesn’t affect your morality.
My problem with a lot of Blue Lions fans is many of them get overzealous when it comes to their path and tend to antagonize Edelgard fans, insinuating that ALL OF THEM have radfem-esque principles and only like Edelgard because she’s a woman/because she’s bisexual, or that they have White supremacist beliefs even if they’re POC themselves. They also think that if you’re a fan of Edelgard, you MUST hate Dimitri, even though many of them don’t. And the hypocritical Black Eagles fans who come under the faction that Blue Lions fans are attacking make things worse for the normal Black Eagles fans who are just trying to enjoy the content, because we get lumped in with the crazies.
All this nonsense makes me want to join with Golden Deers even though I don’t really like Claude that much, because they’re the only group that doesn’t fight with everyone all the time.

In a world where soulmates exist, love is still a gamble.
 --
Bus rides home were usually filled with white noise and thoughts about work. But there was something about the steady pitter-patter of the rain and the hazy blur of life around you that lead you to plug in your earphones and listen to music.
It was tormenting. The catchiest beats were also the saddest ones, making your heart swell up at every relatable lyric. It was as if Spotify was playing with the strings of your heart, plucking them like an instrument every time a song about heartbreak came into your queue.
You were stuck in a state of paradox. The more you tried to forget, the more you tried to erase him who was in your heart, the more you remembered. You hated him because you knew that you couldn’t truly bring yourself to hate him.
Timing never seemed to be right with the two of you. If only you’d discovered that he was your destiny a few years later, maybe everything would have worked out, but since you found out a little bit too early, the problem then became you being too late to tell him.
A full year had already passed, and it felt like time was stretched. Graduation seemed so long ago after the ball started rolling on your career life. Once you moved to Busan and getting a great albeit stressful job, so many things just seemed to have happened. You convinced yourself of the fact that this was life now, and if this was all you were going to get, you were going to make it as spectacular as possible. Moving on from the mess that was Lee Felix was dealt and done with, however, it’d be a lie if you said you didn’t think about him every once in a while.
Twelve months ago, your arm was always covered in ink. The week you stopped talking to Felix, that’s when they started to appear. A thousand little messages written on your arm every single morning was what you had to wake up to. You’d seen your fair share of ‘I’m sorry’s and ‘I miss you’s, but you weren’t taking any of it. You knew that if you dared to reply once, even just once, you knew you’d just get hurt all over again—it was not something you were willing to risk, even if those annoying writings on your arm caused you to buy more long-sleeved shirts.
Gradually, their appearances lessened until the messages stopped altogether. Something about the absence of the all-too-familiar handwriting finally settled the fact that he was all but a memory that you were to leave in the past.
Occasionally, there were times that the memory of him would be jogged once again, like on this particular bus ride home. Truly, the blame was to be put on the meaningful lyrics and solemn melodies.
Chhhh. This was the part where you got off the bus and shook whatever bad vibes you were feeling out of your mind. This was not the time to feel sad. Not today, not today.
“Oh, you’re home already. How was work?” your grandma greeted from the kitchen, the sound of sizzling oil faintly echoing through the house.
“Shall I tell you over dinner?” You pursed your lips into a smile. “Or do you want to be spoiled? Just a hint, today was fantastic.”
“Well, if that doesn’t tickle my fancy. If you’re gonna start it off like that, sweetie, you might as well just tell me now,” she answered.
You entered the kitchen with a dramatic stride. You stopped for a second to pose, then you took a loud, deep breath. “Your grandkid made it, Nana. I, [L/N] [F/N], have been promoted to the Assistant Brand Manager of the department. Boss said I get a bonus on every third Friday of the month. Isn’t that something?”
“My, my. Won’t you treat your old woman out for dinner one of these days, since you’re now swimming in money? I’d love a steak, dear,” she smiled. “I’m only joking. I am so, so proud of you, darling! We need to celebrate! Come give me a hug!”
You wrapped your arms tightly around your grandmother. “Agh, I’m beyond elated! Shall we go somewhere special?”
“Would you care for some wine, perhaps? I’m cooking beef, so I think it would taste great. Set out the table outside, let’s enjoy the evening breeze. Let’s talk more about your promotion later. Who’s going to take your previous spot on the team?”
“I don’t know,” you admitted. “Boss said there were some very promising newcomers, and I can only hope they’ll be a good addition and not a downfall to our team. Did you know that our department is one of the most productive ones? Ever since the PR department waged war on us, our productivity rate has doubled in number.”
“Why would you want to wage war on other departments? Mustn’t you work together for the better of the company?”
“Yes!” you replied. “It’s mostly to see who can boost the company’s sales better. We usually compete when we do our weekly reports to the boss. I think Boss secretly knows about the Marketing-PR war because he hasn’t said a word about any of our shenanigans, even if we blatantly express our friendly rivalry. There’s a small scoreboard in the conference room to tally which department did better that week, and it’s updated by the secretary. Boss didn’t order it to be put there, but he hasn’t said anything about it either.”
“It sounds wonderful. That’s quite a great way to promote efficiency in the company,” your grandmother commented, plating the dishes she had prepared for dinner.
“I know! Rumor has it that Boss is planning a company outing where all the departments will go on a head-to-head competition. I don’t know the details, but my co-worker said that she heard it from the janitor who heard it from the secretary,” you went on, “anyway, I’ll save more of the talk for later. Where do you keep the candles? I’ll put some outside as I set the tables.”
“In the left-most wooden drawer—no, not that one. Yes, that one. Glad to hear that work is good for you, honey. Makes me very glad.”
--
How could you stop a smile from making its way to your face? When you stepped into work the next day, you wore a grin like an expensive article of clothing.
“Somebody’s cheerful today,” your co-worker, Yugyeom mentioned, looking up from his desk. “what’s with the happy demeanor, [Y/N]?”
“Can’t I revel in the fact that I’ve finally been promoted?” you answered, taking a seat at your desk.
“Come on. There must be something else that’s up. Did you get a boyfriend? Meet a soulmate? Win the lotto? Your smile’s so bright, I think I’m going to go blind.” He rolled his eyes.
“No! Gross, I don’t have time for things like that,” you huffed. Leaning in, you whispered, “Listen. There’s a newcomer that’s going to be added to our team. Apparently, he’s from the Daejeon branch of the company, and he’s being transferred here to the Busan office because apparently, he did very well. Do you realize what this means for us? If we get another good employee, we’ll have one more person to help tackle PR on the scoreboard.”
“Damn, girl! Talk about competitive!”
“You know you’re excited, too.”
“Okay, fine. I am. Let’s teach this newcomer to help us in the quest to out-produce PR.”
“Morning, guys,” a familiar voice greeted. You and Yugyeom stood up to bow to your superior.
“Morning, Chan,” you greeted back.
“Woah, no ‘Sir’ for you, huh, [Y/N]?” Yugyeom snickered.
You hit him playfully. “I’ve known Chan since high-school. He’s the one who told me not to call him ‘Sir’. Anyway, is it true that the newcomer’s a good one? Gosh, I can’t wait. This is like fresh meat for us, you know? Do you know his name?”
“How do you know he’s a guy?” Yugyeom asked, raising a brow.
“Heard it from the janitor. Swear the janitor knows everything. Need info? I can get it for you. The janitor makes a pretty good friend,” you explained. “Anyway, like I asked, Chan. Do you have info on him?”
“Actually, [Y/N], I don’t. The Chief of Staff has yet to introduce me to him, which is kind of surprising. But to be fair, I’ve been out on business trips lately, so I’m not all too shocked,” Chan explained. “I hope this person is what make him out to be. Oh, speak of the devil.”
“Hello, all. Good morning. As you know, I’m Mr. Park, Chief of Staff, and I’m here to bring to you the latest addition to your team. As some of you may have heard, he is from our Daejeon branch and is a very capable man. I hope you will all take care of him.”
Chan took one glance at you to make sure you were doing alright, but all he saw was your jaw suspended in the open air, eyes wide.
You felt everything and nothing all at once.
“Everyone, this is Lee Felix, and he will be in charge of product marketing.”
--
You slammed the door to the office pantry behind you, Chan following inside. As you finished downing an entire cup of coffee, you sputtered, “How could this have happened? Chan! You’re like, the only person who knows what happened between Felix and I during high-school and college!”
“I swear, I didn’t know!” Chan defended, handing you a glass of water to calm you down. “I’m just as shocked as you are, alright? Drink this.”
“Is the world seriously against me?” you grumbled, burying your face in your hands. “Just as things have been looking up, he walks back into my life just like that! Here! In Busan! Where I purposely went so that I could get away from him!”
“Calm down, [Y/N]. Let’s sort this out. But you have to promise me that you won’t let your personal problems get in the way of professionality. I know you’re in shock, but let’s try not to let this get the best of you. Remember, PR’s been on the top of the leaderboard for two weeks straight, and we really need to step up our game,” the older boy spoke, rubbing your shoulder reassuringly. “We’ll try to fix this, yeah?”
“Dear goodness, I sure hope so,” you muttered, setting down the second empty paper cup as you looked at the office through the pantry blinds.
“I knew Felix had a job in marketing, but I didn’t know it was for our company, nevertheless did I expect him to end up here with us. I thought he got hired back in Seoul,” Chan commented, also watching the newcomer through the blinds.
“Right?” you sighed. “What on this good, green earth am I going to do know? I’m going to have to engage in conversation, you know?”
“Well, I suppose you can’t hide from him forever. After all, he… is your—”
“God, Chan. Don’t say it, please. Please don’t remind me,” you begged, shoulders going down in a slump.
Just like that, your joyful morning mood was dampened like the imminent grey clouds on a sunny June day, and now you were left with a situation you couldn’t run from.
--
A couple of days passed and you successfully avoided having to make any contact with Felix.
Surprisingly, things weren’t as bad as you had expected. You only had to do that obligatory bow when you greeted each other in the hallways, but that was it. You could not have it any other way.
“So… how’s stuff? You doing okay?” Chan asked one lunchbreak, grabbing his chopsticks from the lunch tray.
You gulped the rice in your mouth. “Could not be better. Can you believe it? One week went by without anything more than a couple of seconds of eye-contact and a bow.”
Yugyeom, who was sitting beside you, squinted his eyes. “Wait. Who are we talking about?”
“Uh,” you began, shooting a glance at Chan. “N-No one important, really. Just this person I met.”
“What, blind date outside of work?” he asked.
“No, I don’t have time for dates.”
Your co-worker gave you a goofy smile. “Aw, sucks for me, I just lost my shot.”
“Gross, Mr. Kim!” you laughed.
“I’m joking, I’m joking. Anyway, what’s your soulmate link?”
Great. The taboo question. It was cool, it was cool, you were chill, you were chill. “Oh, uh… why? What’s yours? Have you met your soulmate?”
“I’m a late bloomer, I guess. Lots of my friends have met their soulmates already, but my link says I’m still meeting my soulmate in… a couple of months. I’d show you the tattoo, but no one can see it anyway,” Yugyeom shared, taking a bite of his lunch. “How about you? I asked you first.”
“It’s a drawing link. Whatever’s drawn on my skin shows up on my soulmate’s or vice versa,” you said quietly, sipping your water. “But I’m not too hung up on the soulmate idea. Did you know that Chan’s real lucky? He scored a jackpot. Have you seen his girlfriend? She’s super nice. She and Chan are like the older siblings I never had.”
“Hey, but it was hard. You know, I had such a hard time with visual projects back in school before I met her. I had to keep asking my friends to tell me if my presentations looked good because really, I couldn’t tell. If I worked on them alone, they’d probably have the color scheme of ugly sweaters. So glad I can see color now, or else I probably would have a difficult time here in the company,” Chan chuckled at the thought. “By the way, she’s asking if you wanna come over some time for dinner. She misses hanging out with you, you know.”
“Oh for sure. How about this Saturday evening? I need to tell her about the recent news. Unnie’s gonna freak,” you asked Chan while you noted the schedule down on your phone.
“Hey, I thought you were gonna help me that evening with the project Boss assigned us?” Yugyeom piped up. “Don’t tell me you’re gonna cancel!”
“Relax, Mr. Kim. Let’s do that over lunch. No need to worry,” you told him.
Just then, you felt a gentle tap on your shoulder and you turned around hastily, wiping your mouth.
Standing there with a hand at the back of his head was He-Who-Shan’t-Be-Named.
“Uh… Ms. [L/N]?”
‘Ooh, never thought I’d hear my last name roll off his tongue. Whatever, that’s to be expected,’ you thought.
“Sorry to bother you during lunch, but I need you to look over some paperwork that you submitted. Some of it wasn’t completed,” the freckled boy announced, handing you a folder.
You raised a brow. “Have I not? I could have sworn that I checked over these twice. I never submit incomplete paperwork.”
“A-Ah, is that so? But look here, there’s a blank space.”
You scanned the papers in your hands thoroughly. Glancing beside you, you inquired, “Mr. Kim, I thought this section of the paperwork was your job?”
Yugyeom took the folder from you. “What’s this? I didn’t send you the complete copy?”
“No?”
“Sorry, Mr. Lee. This was a fault on my part. It’s true, Ms. [L/N] never submits incomplete paperwork. I’ll have these files ready by 13:30, after lunch. Apologies for the inconvenience,” Yugyeom apologized, bowing.
Felix sported a polite smile. “Oh, it’s alright. I’m so sorry for the confusion, Miss [L/N]. Thank you for your hard work.”
“Um, you’re welcome.”
Caw. Caw. Caw.
“Well, I’ll be on my way. Enjoy the rest of your lunch, Ms. [L/N], Mr. Kim, Sir Bang,” Felix bowed, dragging his legs towards the opposite direction.
When he was out of sight, you leaned in to whisper, “If that wasn’t the most awkward two minutes of my entire company experience! I was doing so well up until this moment. I told you it’s best if I don’t talk to him!”
“What’s up with you and Mr. Newbie? You two know each other?” Yugyeom pressed, letting his chin rest on his hand. “Oh my. Don’t tell me—he’s the guy you went on a blind date with!”
“Lower your volume!” you scolded. “And ew, no! I already told you, I don’t have time for blind dates.”
“So give me a good reason as to why you’re apparently avoiding him!”
Chan came to the rescue. “Oh, we all went to the same high-school. [Y/N] and Feli—Mr. Lee used to go to the same college. She’s just had some weird encounters with him, is all.”
You nodded as if to agree with your superior. “Yup. Although don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to let it affect my work. Professionalism is professionalism.”
“Oh, is that right? Mm, didn’t know that,” Yugyeom answered, “anyway, let’s head back to our department. Lunch break is ending and I gotta fix this paperwork.”
--
The conference room door closed slowly behind as you and Chan made your way out from the most recent meeting. People from PR gave you both a smirk before heading towards their department. You clutched your fists in frustration and bore holes into their backs while stomping to the opposite direction.
“Just because they’ve gotten a lead on the scoreboard makes them think they can act like that, huh,” you hissed, rolling your eyes. “I swear, I’m working overtime this week.”
Chan placed a hand on your shoulder and stopped you. “Calm down, it’s gonna be alright, okay? Besides, we should be happy that they’re doing good for the company. Don’t get me wrong, I hate their department with my guts, but it’s nice to see Boss smiling at the good reports. But here’s the catch. Next week, we’re having the company outing. I’ve yet to announce it to the department, so keep your mouth quiet. I received the e-mail this morning, and it’s going to be held in Jeju island. There’s going to be lots of activities. Boss thinks it’s a good investment to have a fun company outing to, quote unquote, ‘promote bonding in the workplace’.”
You gasped and pointed at Chan. “You thinking what I’m thinking?”
“We get to totally mow down PR in competition?”
“The prize is yet to be announced, and yes. We’re going to kill it. Of course, that means everyone in the department has to double-time this week so that we can enjoy the outing without thinking of work. How’s the project I assigned you doing?” Chan questioned.
From behind you, a voice spoke. “Uh, sorry to intrude, but I couldn’t help but overhear you two talking about the company outing. According to Secretary Bambam, each department is going to stay in separate guest houses. Do you need some help, Ms. [L/N]?” Yugyeom brought up, joining in on the conversation.
“Help? For what?” you asked, raising a brow.
Yugyeom put a hand to his mouth. “Don’t you have some kind of uncomfortable business with Mr. Lee, the newbie? I don’t know, I thought you’d be bothered.”
“Mr. Kim!” Chan boomed. “Don’t let [Y/N]’s personal matters affect how you interact with the people on our team. The least we need is division amongst ourselves. Where even did you get the information on the outing? You’re not supposed to know yet.”
“Why hide it? As I was making coffee in the staff room, Secretary Bambam offhandedly mentioned it to me,” Yugyeom answered, holding his clipboard.
“I’m sure it’s not going to be so bad,” you reassured the two boys, heading over to your desk. “Thank you for the offer, Mr. Kim.”
--
“This is so bad,” you grumbled, throwing different articles of clothing on your bed. There were all sorts of knick-knacks flying around your tiny room, scattered any place a knick-knack could be.
Just then, the door to your room opened and your grandma stepped in, raising her hands in surprise. “Woah, woah, woah! What’s going on in here? Your room looks like a jungle of clothes! I said pack for your trip, not unleash the beast, sweetie.”
You let out an exasperated groan as you shut the door of your closet. “Sorry, grandma. I’m just a little stressed thinking about the trip.”
“Come sit,” the older woman insisted, patting the empty spot on your bed beside her. “Tell me what’s wrong. To think this trip is supposed to be a celebration for the numerous victories your company has been making these past few months.”
“It’s not the company, grandma,” you admitted, taking a seat beside her. “It’s…it’s just that I have to deal with being stuck in a house with someone I wish I didn’t need to be with.”
“Hmm? That’s strange, I always thought you to be one of the more amiable people at work. Are you not friends with everybody?”
You sucked in your breath and prepared for what was about to come. “There’s this one guy. His name is Lee Felix… and… he’s… my soulmate.”
“Oh my.”
Right then and there, you decided that you could no longer keep up the bubbling vexations you buried deep in your chest. From the moment you met him until the very moment those years of friendship ended, you told her everything, not sparing a single important detail. By the time you finished up your story, your face was puffy and your eyes were red. The nighttime breeze howled quietly in the background, enveloping you in a chill.
“A-And recently, I thought I was doing okay, but he decided to take another stride back into my life. I mean, it’s all good at work, but it’s been so hard to focus lately and I don’t know why. I know I’m over him, and I’ve resigned to not thinking about soulmates or finding love or whatever. But every time I see that damned face of his, things come flooding into my mind,” you sniffled, blowing your nose. Your grandma rubbed soothing circles on your back, listening to every word that you spoke. “It doesn’t help that PR is doing better than Marketing lately, and I can’t help but think that maybe I’m slacking off a bit or something.”
“Oh, sweetheart. Here, drink some water,” your grandma began, “if you’ll let me, may I share what I think about your situation?”
“Go ahead, grandma. I’m so sorry for crying.”
“Sweetie, no, don’t do that. It’s okay to cry. But you know, I think the reason why you’ve become so competitive at work, the reason you’ve been under a lot of stress lately, the reason why you hold anger in your heart towards Felix despite saying that you’ve moved on from him, even the reason why you always apologize for crying—all those reasons are the same. From what I’ve been hearing, I think you need to re-examine what’s really in there,” she explained, pointing at your left chest where your heart was. “Ever since Felix, you’ve blamed yourself for everything. Because you knew you got hurt, you sorta… how should I say this… resigned yourself into thinking ‘I’m never going to get hurt like that again’. You made that mistake, and you’ve been beating yourself over it for these past few years.”
“I-I have?”
“Honey, I have to tell you. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay,” your grandma said, pulling you into a hug. “And honestly, I think the person who needs forgiveness most now isn’t Felix, but you. Forgive yourself, [Y/N]. It’s alright that you stumbled along the way.”
Your face crumpled. It was true. You felt so… so raw in front of your grandmother who saw right through you, who saw right through your heart. Everything somewhat fell into place, and you realized the reason you were hurting. And it felt good, to have finally admitted what you were hiding deep down for so long.
“So… what do I do now, grandma?” you asked, voice coming out as a choke. “What now?”
“It’s your choice if you want to, at the very least, tolerate him or let him go. Whatever you choose, know that I’m proud of you for taking those steps. Now go pack, it’s getting late and you’re supposed to meet up with the team early tomorrow. Please bring a jacket.”
“I will,” you replied, watching your grandmother get up and head out of your room. “Hey grandma?”
“Yes, sweetheart?”
“Thank you.”
--
The sun was barely out, but you and your team were already outside the company building waiting for the van. The sounds of yawning and drowsy morning chatter filled the atmosphere.
Just before you left the house, your grandma left you some rice cakes on the table. A note saying ‘Eat well and enjoy <3’ came with it, helping you start your day off with a smile. As your team lined up to board the ferry, you bit into a rice cake, letting your teeth sink into the soft delicacy. Wow. It was beyond scrumptious.
The vicinity was getting a little bit warm as the sun began its ascent into the higher areas of the sky, causing you to remove the jacket you were wearing, As you tied the piece of clothing to your waist, you couldn’t help but notice a scribble on your left arm, just below your wrist.
‘Would you ever consider giving me one of your rice cakes? I’m so sorry, I saw you eating some and I haven’t had breakfast. It’s alright if you decide not to. I’ll wash off the ink with hand sanitizer.’
You jerked your head up, scanning the crowd for a certain someone. When your eyes landed on an all-too-familiar freckled boy, he reciprocated your stare with a sheepish smile.
You did a double-take. Should you forfeit your streak of barely having to interact with him or offer a rice cake to your hungry co-worker who would probably really need to eat something before leaving to engage in several tiring activities? Damn it, you knew he loved rice cakes.
Hesitantly, you shuffled over to Felix, who waved to you and bowed as you approached him. “Uh, good morning, Fe—Mr. Lee.”
“Hi, Miss [L/N]. Get my note?” the boy asked, pointing to your arm. Damn, you knew about his booming voice, but you’d forgotten just how deep his pitch was.
“The chicken scratch handwriting was quite hard to miss.”
“I’m sorry for using this particular means of communication. I just… I’m finding it a little difficult to talk to you, no offense.”
“None taken,” you answered, handing him a rice cake. “You’ll just really do anything for a rice cake, huh?”
In seconds, the poor rice cake was scarfed down. Felix wiped his mouth with his jacket sleeve. “I’m surprised you remember.”
“Like I’ll ever forget the reason half my lunch was always missing back in high-school,” you scoffed. “Here, you can have one more. I have more food in my bag anyway. Why’d you skip breakfast?”
‘Damn it, [Y/N]!’ you thought to yourself. ‘What the hell is up with you? I thought we agreed to just hand him a rice cake and leave?!’
“I live a bit far from here. I couldn’t miss the bus,” he answered, adjusting the neck pillow sitting comfortably on his shoulders. It was sort of endearing, how the neck pillow was themed to be a cute teddy bear design. Felix yawned. “And I didn’t sleep too well last night. Had to do some last-minute paperwork because somebody turned in their files late. Thank you so much, by the way. Your kindness will not be forgotten.”
“You’re welcome. And oh, I can imagine how awful that is. Late paperwork, I mean. I feel bad for nagging our co-workers to send me files, but in the end, it gets the job done, you know,” you replied, straightening your back. “Anyway, if that will be all, I’m just gonna—”
“Wait, don’t go!” Felix sputtered, grabbing a hold of your arm. He quickly released it, ears turning red. “A-Ah, sorry. I just wanted to ask you something about PR.”
“PR? Huh. Go shoot,” you mused, and you could still feel the burning spot where Felix’s hand collided with your arm.
“What’s up with this thing I hear about a Marketing-PR war?”
As you opened your mouth to speak, Chan interrupted you with a tap. “Hey, [Y/N], I need to borrow a pen.”
You fished for your trusty gel pen from your backpack and handed it to Chan, who began to look around and tick off boxes on his clipboard. Taking a peek at the clipboard, you saw that he was just doing a headcount.
“That’s our leader-nim, huh?” you teased, playfully giving Chan a nudge. He rolled his eyes.
“I’ll give your pen back later, I need it for a while. Go line up over there already, the van is leaving in ten minutes,” Chan answered, walking away.
Felix began to make his way to the spot that Chan had instructed you both to go to, and you followed right behind. As soon as he set his luggage down on the floor again, he turned to you. “So… Marketing-PR war?”
“Oh yeah,” you nodded, remembering. “It’s kind of a long story, but I guess it’s important to know the origins of the great Marketing-PR battle. I can tell you about it on the way, but only if you’re truly ready to hear the origins.”
“I mean sure. We’re spending a lot of time in the van anyway, so we have plenty of time to kill.” Felix suggested. “I’m so glad Boss booked the high-speed car ferry. A trip that would usually take five hours is cut down to two.”
“Good, good, sure. I only have so much downloaded drama on my phone to kill time. So anyway, since we have a lot to cover, I better start. It begins when Sir Park Jinyoung—not the CEO, the head of PR—gets one of Marketing’s most competent workers, Choi Youngjae.”
--
“Thank everything we’re here,” Yugyeom breathed, grabbing his duffle bag from the trunk. “I thought we’d never make it.”
“On the bright side, Mr. Lee finally knows the deep, dark past of Marketing and PR,” Chan mentioned, helping Yugyeom get his bags.
“Yeah, um, after we got interrupted like, ten times.” You rolled your eyes. “I could have told the whole story in one hour, but you kept cutting in and getting side-tracked. Did Mr. Lee have to know about the Ramen Incident?”
“Okay, fine, whatever. Let’s go settle in the guest house. Boss wants us to meet in the conference hall at 1:00 sharp. He’s going to brief everyone on the activities,” Chan retorted.
“Boss is here?” Felix questioned, tilting his head to the side.
“Yeah, he’s here to oversee the activities. Usually, he’d send the secretary, but since two entire departments are here, he came,” Yugyeom answered.
The four of you wheeled in your luggage into the cozy-looking cabin, which turned out to be more modern and restful that you’d expected. The inside was simple and minimalistic but sported a few home-esque touches. There were four bedrooms to be split between the team, but Chan had already assigned them. The girls would have the rooms upstairs while the guys would stay in the two downstairs. You were more than thankful to have a sensible roommate—her name was Jihyo and she was one of the more responsible ones on the marketing team.
“I’m relieved that we got here in one piece,” Jihyo commented, setting down her bags in the closet. “I’m surprised that Mr. Kim didn’t blow up the van.”
You chuckled. “Sometimes, I wonder how he’s even considered a grown man.”
“Right? Also, would you like some mosquito spray? I hear that it gets very bugsy outside,” she offered, holding up a bottle.
“How could I have scored such an awesome roomie? Thank you so much,” you grinned, spraying the product on your skin.
As soon as you both finished settling down, you made your way downstairs to meet the others. Once everyone was there, the Marketing team headed outside towards the conference hall, where your boss was waiting.
“Oh, nice. We made it first,” Chan mentioned, taking a seat on one of the plastic chairs.
You plopped down beside him. “Plus points to Marketing for being punctual.”
In a few seconds, a group of people started to pile into the venue one by one, and you recognized them as the terrible faces of PR. The engine of competitiveness was revving up as the minutes passed.
“Welcome to the long-awaited JYP company outing,” the one and only CEO boomed into the mic, “it’s nice to see that many of you were able to come.”
An applaud echoed throughout the hall.
“Anyhow, I’d not like to keep you here any longer. I’m sure that you are all famished by the travel and have not gotten the chance to eat a proper lunch yet. Worry not and let that be one of the driving forces for you all to give your best at the activities. The schedule is as follows: at 1:30 PM, the Relay Race will start. It will take around one to two hours, so I expect it to be over at around 3:00 PM. I will now announce the mechanics of the Race. Secretary Bambam, please flash the slides,” your Boss announced.
“Alright. You are now here,” he stated, pointing a laser at a spot on the screen. “Each team will go through a series of obstacles throughout the area. All these obstacles have been tailored to test your skills as employees, of course, as to not waste such a valuable opportunity to incorporate training and recreation. Some of these include creating a campaign for a product on the fly and trying to persuade me, who will act like a customer, to buy the said product. Each time you beat one obstacle better than the other team, you gain one point. Whoever gains the most points by the end of the Race gets quite the grand prize. At JYP, we don’t plan shabby company outings. At JYP, we allow our employees to have a chance at a fabulous prize, and this year, the winning department not only gets a delicious barbeque sponsored by our clients but also a bonus for next month’s paycheck.”
The entire hall erupted in cheer, everyone clearly enthused at the sound of the word ‘bonus’, which was just like an angelic choir.
“Right now, you all have a couple of minutes to plan out your strategies. Here are the list of ‘obstacles’ you will be facing, and I suggest you take time to assign your best people to the activities that they are most likely to do well at. At 1:30 sharp, Secretary Bambam will ring a bell and everyone should be off. Time starts now! Enjoy, everyone. See you at the finish line.”
You took one look at the screen in front and Chan was already motioning for your department to come and huddle.
“Alright, so for activity one, we need our most persuasive members. Ms. Park, Mr. Yang, I think you’d be most suited for that. Mr. Kim, I’m assigning you to face off in that dance battle,” Chan instructed.
“Are you kidding me?” Yugyeom shrieked. “Actually, you know what, sure. I’d rather do that than try to come up with a marketing scheme for Boss. Did you know I’ve won several awards for dancing in college? If I wasn’t in this company, I’d probably rocking the stag—”
“Not now! Anyway, Ms. Im, I’ll trust you to activity three. We all need to work together for activity four, then for the final activity—oh.”
Chan glanced at you, then glanced at Felix. You caught sight of that began to shake your head vigorously.
“Chan, whatever you’re thinking, NO.”
Your superior walked over to you and whispered, “[Y/N], we both know you and Felix can annihilate anyone in a three-legged race.”
“That was in high-school!” you defended, rubbing your palms together. “There’s no way—why is that activity even on the list?! Everyone knows the three-legged race is just so that people can poke fun at the contestants.”
“Think about PR winning that sweet, sweet bonus that we’re supposed to snag,” Chan tempted, etching a horrible image in your mind.
You did a double-take. “Fine, fine! But only because I hate PR’s guts more than I can humanely bear. Damn it.”
--
The score was currently tied, and it was down to the last obstacle: the dreaded three-legged race. ‘Of course this was how it was going to pan out,’ you thought to yourself, ‘because the universe hates me and loves to play with my life.’
While Yugyeom was busy bragging about his epic win at the dance show-off, you were bent down, tying a ribbon around your leg and Felix’s.
“Hey,” Felix began, clearing his throat. “Sorry you had to end up with me. I can tell you’re pretty bummed out.”
You whipped your head to him and your cheeks started to flush. “U-Uh, that isn’t it. It’s fine, really. Let’s just totally kill PR, alright?”
“You still got that three-legged race spirit in you?” he asked, stretching his arms. “Or has it withered away over the years?”
“I will never, ever give up my secret talent for three-legged races.”
“We’ll see about that. Wanna test it out? Let’s walk from here to there. No stumbling.”
You scoffed and nodded. In a few seconds, Felix found a way to snake his arms around your waist and a glare was quickly sent in his direction.
“What? Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten that this is the only way we can advance faster. Tried and tested, remember?” Felix piped up, adjusting his footing. “It’s how we beat that loser from Class B in high-school.”
“Alright already, let’s get this over with. Test from here to the water bottle?”
“Yup. One, two, three, go.”
Just like he said, the extra support from his grasp allowed for you both to move swiftly. It wasn’t long until you were able to reach the water bottle finish-line.
“See, told you.”
“Okay, contestants! Please make your way to the starting line now for the final battle, the tiebreaker!” Secretary Bambam announced over a microphone.
“How are you guys doing? You alright?” Chan’s voice came from behind you, causing you both to turn your heads in unison.
“Still got it, Sir Bang. The three-legged race has always been something me and Ms. [L/N] will always conquer with flying colors. Watch us win the department a bonus and a barbeque,” Felix grinned, giving Chan a thumbs-up.
“Can’t wait to see PR’s crushed faces. This is gonna be a breeze.” You saluted.
“Actually,” Chan started, leaning into a whisper. “You might wanna look over there. This is actually going to be quite close.”
Turning your head to the other side, you caught a glimpse of two familiar men. A gasp escaped your mouth.
“Wang and Tuan?!” you screamed, making Chan shoot you a look that said ‘shut-up’.
“What’s wrong with Wang and Tuan?” Felix questioned, head still turned in their direction.
You rubbed your temples in frustration. “Um, yes, you heard me. It just had to be the damned Wang and Tuan! They’re notorious for being one of the company’s most athletic individuals. We might as well surrender now because Mr. Tuan used to be in the track team back in the day and Mr. Wang once tried to match the speed of a moving car.”
“Hey, I used to be in Taekwondo! I have legs, Ms. [L/N]. Legs for days,” Felix replied.
“It’s indeed going to be a tough one, but we don’t know how well Mr. Wang and Mr. Tuan can run as a duo. For all we know, they’re amazing solo runners but terrible once their legs are tied together,” Chan encouraged.
“Nope.” You pointed at the two men who were jogging together in place. “Look at that coordination.”
“Okay, I hate to do this, but I know spite is the greatest motivator for you, [Y/N],” Chan started, balling his hands into a fist. “Remember when you were stressing over late paperwork the other day and wanted chocolate milk but found out there were none left in the staff room?”
“Yeah, and?”
“Wang took the last one,” Chan stated as-a-matter-of-factly.
“He didn’t.”
“Oh, but he did. When I went over to PR to hand in some files, I saw him sipping the last carton of chocolate milk.”
“That piece of scum,” you seethed, grabbing on to Felix’s waist. “That’s it, Felix. We’re taking them down.”
“Oh, we’re on first-name basis now?” the freckled boy asked innocently, putting his arm on your waist as well.
“This is war,” you declared, “we’re partners now. And today, we’re going to wipe off the dregs of society from this earth.”
--
Crackle. Crackle. A wave of heat kissed your face as a puff of smoke danced with the air. And the smell of charcoal was absolutely disgusting, but it was the single sweet reminder that everybody needed and deserved.
“Are we ready?” Yugyeom whispered, hiding behind your back.
“Let’s get cooking.”
Within seconds, the entirety of the Marketing team was scrambling to grab a hold of a piece of barbeque, hungry employees bustling left and right. After winning the competition, food was screaming to be devoured. It was three in the afternoon and nobody’d eaten lunch yet.
“Wait!” Chan cleared his throat. “Do we have drinks? I would like to make a toast.”
“Uh…” Jihyo drawled, eyeing the vicinity. “We have paper cups, but no drinks. Seriously? Who plans a barbeque with no drinks?”
“Doesn’t matter, I’ll go to the store. I heard it’s not far from here,” you offered, shoving your hands in the pockets of your jacket.
“I’ll go with you in a second,” Chan answered, grabbing a paper cup, “but before we eat, to [Y/N] and Felix! The ones who trampled over PR during the tiebreak! Raise a glass!”
A cheer erupted from everyone’s mouths as empty paper cups were raised in the air to honor the victory that belonged to the team.
“Oh, can I come with? There’s a couple of things I wanna buy, too,” Yugyeom asked, walking towards you.
“You guys go ahead, I’ll save you some barbeque,” Felix suggested, waving. “Congrats to us. Go get the team some refreshing stuff!”
The three of you made your way out of the area and onto the streets, searching for a nearby grocery or convenience store.
After what seemed like miles of walking, your feet finally brought you in front of a small grocery. You didn’t hesitate to walk right in and pick up a basket.
The humble store consisted of a few shelves with worn-out paint lined up neatly in rows and holding all kinds of snacks and delights. The gentle whirring coming from the back lead you to a clear refrigerator with different drinks, and pretty soon, the metal basket in your hands was filled with several bottles. These were piled onto the counter along with a couple bags of chips, courtesy a snacky Yugyeom.
“What?” he said when you started to eye him judgingly, throwing the chip bags on the cashier tabletop. “It’s for my midnight cravings and the trip back home.”
You rolled your eyes, handing the cashier your credit card in exchange for your purchases. After getting your card back, the three of you headed back outside. Chan stopped in his tracks.
“Wait, so from here, did we take a left turn or a right turn? Right, right?”
“Pretty sure it was a left turn, Chan.”
“What?! You two are crazy, we came from straight ahead! I saw that sign with the cute cats earlier.”
“Okay, Mr. Kim, we’re trusting you.”
“Just drop the honorifics already. It’s alright.”
A minute passed… then two… then five…
“This isn’t the way that we came from.”
“You know what? This is why we live in a technological world. Let me just Google Maps this,” Yugyeom scoffed, pulling out his phone. “Aaaaaand… it says my line was cut off because I forgot to pay the bill. Cool, cool. Chan?”
“I left my phone in the room earlier because I didn’t want it to be hurled around during the race,” Chan answered. “[Y/N], you?”
A trickle of sweat slipped down your forehead. “Phone’s been dead for over an hour. I used it to record Wang and Tuan’s devastated faces after the competition.”
“Um, excuse me,” Chan attempted, trying to ask an elderly lady for help. She waved him off, muttering something about dangerous strangers.
“Right, so we’re lost, no help, and completely foreign-looking streets. What could get worse?” Yugyeom mumbled all pessimistic.
The clouds rumbled above.
“Seriously?!” Chan breathed out, gesturing for you three to wait under the shade of the grocer’s storefront. “Situational irony? Isn’t this just fantastic?”
“Hold on,” you began, turning to the oldest of you three. “Chan, do you still have the pen I lent you earlier before you left? You said you needed to check attendance.”
“Oh yeah, as a matter of fact, I do,” he replied, fishing in his pocket for the said pen. “Here.”
You took it hastily, taking a deep breath before engaging in the one thing you had never thought you’d do in your lifetime. Flipping the cap open, you began to write down a couple of words on your arm.
“Hi, Felix. Please tell me when you see this. It’s really urgent. Chan, Yugyeom, and I are stranded in a grocery, phones dead. Could you come pick us up at XX Grocer with umbrellas?”
“What? How’s that supposed to help us? It’s not like the words will magically float off into cyberspace,” Yugyeom commented, confused.
Your cheeks began to feel warm. After casting a worried look to Chan, you shut your eyes and began to spill your secret.
“I-It’s…um… whatever I write on my arm will show up on Felix’s arm and vice versa,” you explained quietly, keeping your eyes fixated on your arms for any sign of response.
“Don’t tell me,” Yugyeom gasped, “he’s the one you’re soulmates with?!”
“She’s known since high-school,” Chan sighed, “but there are reasons as to why they’re not… you know. Together. [Y/N] doesn’t particularly like to talk about it.”
“No, it’s alright,” you waved it off, “I can tell you, just please don’t tell anyone. Um, actually, Felix and I used to be best friends, but some complicated things happened and we fought. After college, I went to Busan to try to start a new life, but in the end, I couldn’t escape him.”
“O-Oh, were you guys dating? Did he know you were here?” Yugyeom inquired, genuinely curious.
As the drops of rain started to pour around, you answered, “No, we never dated. And it’s all been purely coincidence. I didn’t know he was coming and neither did he. That’s why it was so difficult for us to interact when he first came.”
“Everything makes sense!” Yugyeom exclaimed, making an explosion gesture with his hands. “Wait, did he reply to your arm message?”
You looked down at you arm again and sure enough, the familiar chicken scratch writing appeared.
“I’ll be there in a bit. Stay dry! I’ll try to be as quick as possible.”
“Okay, good. We’re saved.” Chan let out a breath of relief.
In fifteen minutes, Felix was shuffling across the street towards you three, an umbrella in one hand and his phone in the other.
“Why’d you guys go so far? There was literally a convenience store right beside the place we’re staying at,” Felix questioned, unzipping his bag. “Here’s an extra umbrella.”
“Sir Bang—Chan… can I speak with you for a bit on the way home? There’s a bit of concern with one of the Marketing members and I need to discuss it with you,” Yugyeom piped up, grabbing the umbrella from Felix’s hands. “If you don’t mind, I’ll share this with Chan. It’s a personal matter.”
Chan didn’t even get a chance to object before he was pulled away by a swift Yugyeom, who began to babble about his concerns. You and Felix watched them mosey away, chattering about whatever was to be chattered about.
“Uh, let’s go?” Felix cleared his throat, holding the umbrella. You stepped in and began to walk back to the company outing’s venue.
For a while, all that could be heard was just the pitter-patter of the rain as you trudged on in silence. The quietness was so suffocating, you swear you could hear the cawing of a crow muffled beneath the sounds of the rain.
“Hey… you’re getting wet,” the freckled boy mentioned, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you closer to him. He dropped his hand quickly after, opening his mouth to speak. “Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable to be so near me, but I just don’t want you to get wet.”
You shook your head. “No, it’s okay. Thank you for being so considerate. And for picking us up.”
“It’s no problem, although this?” he said, riding up his jacket sleeve to expose the scribbles on his arm. “A message saying that you were stranded wasn’t exactly what I hoped your first ever arm message to me would be. I’ve been thinking about it lately, and I really wished you might’ve saved it to notify me that you brought rice cakes to work or something.”
A giggle escaped your lips as the thought entered your mind. “Well, sorry that an emergency message isn’t as cool as rice cakes. But now that you’ve expressed your sentiments, maybe I will bring rice cakes and use our connection to notify you.”
“I can’t believe you thought of contacting me that way. Couldn’t you have texted?”
“Well, Chan’s phone was left behind, Yugyeom hasn’t payed his bills, and mine’s dead. And even if mine wasn’t dead, I don’t have your number.”
“Ouch, you deleted my number after moving?”
“…I uh… got a new phone?”
“Nah, I’m just kidding you. It’s alright, I totally get it.”
Just as you arrived at the entrance of the recreation center, you halted your steps and turned to Felix.
For the first time in a very, very long time, you found the strength to look him in the eyes. “Uh… wait. I just wanted to tell you something.”
“Hm?” He turned to you as well, matching your stare. Why were your legs feeling wobbly? Your palms were starting to sweat as well, and you cursed yourself for it. Speaking to Felix properly and serious was something you found extremely difficult to do, but you decided to stop acting like he was a disease you didn’t want to catch.
With a deep breath, you began, “So… it kinda felt nice to be able to talk to you again. You know, not about work. Just…normally. I guess, what I wanted to say was, uh, well, is it okay if we restart? Be friends, maybe? I really hate this discomfort between us, and I think it would be better, even for work, if we got along.”
Silence enveloped the air once again, leaving the both of you in the company of the rain and the passing cars. Thoughts of Felix lashing out and angrily speaking back to you flashed in your head; suddenly, you wanted to scurry off and never see his face again. What if he called you out on all the horrible things you’d done to him in the past? You braced yourself for anger, for rejection.
But instead, the boy in front of you broke into a grin. He even chuckled a little, reaching out his hand.
“Well, in that case,” he spoke, “hi. I’m Lee Felix, it’s nice to meet you. You can call me Felix.”
You grabbed his hand and shook it. “Hey, Felix. I’m [L/N] [Y/N], but feel free to just stick with [Y/N]. Friends?”
“Sure. Friends.”
--
Months after declaring the newfound restart, the budding flower of friendship began its ascent into full bloom. Often times, you asked your grandmother to make you some extra rice cakes to bring to work, that of which you shared with Felix. Sure enough, you kept your promise of notifying him through a small doodle of a rice cake on your wrist. You could have sworn you saw his eyes light up every time he noticed what was on his wrist. There were even nights that you two would stay behind to work on projects together, bringing snacks and drinks to keep you guys powered throughout the extra hours. Productivity rate in your team increased due to you and Felix’s hard work, and this did not go by unnoticed.
As he was passing by Felix’s desk, Chan couldn’t help but notice that Felix’s usually busy computer screen was shut off and that his freckled junior was staring intently at something in his hands. One look over his shoulder and Chan couldn’t help but smile.
He cleared his throat. “What’s that?”
The poor boy almost leaped out of his seat. Shoving the object behind his back, Felix responded, “What’s what?”
Chan motioned to Felix’s hands. “Whatever’s behind you.”
A trickle of sweat dripped down Felix’s clammy fingers. “Just a photo.”
“Ooh, can I see?” Chan pressed on, already knowing exactly what it is the boy held.
“N-No, hyung.”
“Come on. Don’t make me pull the superior card.”
“Fine!” Felix revealed the photo to the man in front of him, ears turning crimson. “Look, I found our graduation picture while rummaging through some of my old stuff, okay? It’s just got me thinking, like…I didn’t realize how much I missed [Y/N] over time. It seems like forever since we graduated high-school, and I still remember how it felt being her best friend. Sometimes, when I see her laugh with Yugyeom, I’m reminded of the times I used to be able to make her laugh like that. I don’t know, I sorta miss it, um, a lot.”
“Hold up, are you jealous of Yugyeom?” Chan raised a brow.
Felix hesitated, turning away. “Don’t phrase it like that, please.”
“Felix,” Chan started, breaking into a grin. “Do you like [Y/N]?”
“Is that so weird?” Felix huffed, burying his face in his arms. “I mean like, she’s my soulmate. But more than that, she’s a friend I really, really treasure. Like, I’ve been thinking about it and it would really suck if she wasn’t in my life. So I kinda came to the conclusion that okay, fine. When I talk to her, it’s not as much so to ask for rice cakes but to actually converse with her. And that I um, do like her. But honestly, between you and me?”
“Yeah?”
“There’s a chance this whole ‘liking [Y/N]’ thing isn’t new news.”
--
Now Chan could only be relieved that his team members (namely you and Felix) were finally getting along well, but Yugyeom, on the other hand, would often sometimes send a wiggle of brows in your direction. Of course, this led you to throw crumpled balls of scratch paper at him, but deep down, you too were glad that the office became a more bearable workplace. You were more than thankful to have a good superior, good co-workers, and even a good boss.
On Tuesdays, you’d bring homemade lunch instead of buying from the office canteen. One fateful Tuesday noon, you stood up as soon as lunchbreak started and headed to the staff room to pick up your boxed lunch to heat it up in the microwave. On your way, you thought about handing some extra gimbap to Chan, Yugyeom, and Felix in gratefulness for being good to you. A smile made its way to your face as you entertained the thought, feeling appreciative and enthused that life had been looking up lately.
Just as you were about to open the door to the staff room, a familiar laugh rang in your eyes. Inside the room happened to be your freckled friend, smiling towards a female employee. You easily recognized her to be one of those PR scumbags, and once the realization hit that Felix was mingling with someone from that bloody department, your blood began to boil.
To make matters worse, you caught sight of him handing her what seemed to be a box—and that was all it took for you to storm into the staff room, take your lunch, and stomp outside in the direction of the canteen.
Once you got to your usual table, you plopped down in front of Yugyeom and hastily opened your lunch box.
“Woah there, tiger. What’s with the attitude?” Yugyeom asked, fiddling with his chopsticks. “Oh and by the way, Chan won’t be joining us. He’s in a meeting.”
“Felix is mingling with a girl from PR!” you huffed, stabbing a slice of gimbap and shoving it in your mouth. Between frustrated chews, you managed to sputter, “I’m so ticked off! He gave her a gift, or something!”
Yugyeom almost spit out his water. “What?! No way.”
“Yes way,” you nodded, wiping your mouth. “Saw them in the staff room being all friendly. I mean come on, ugh!”
“Hold on.” Yugyeom squinted his eyes. “Are you jealous?”
This time, it was your turn to almost spit out your water. “Excuse me? Yugyeom, you know how bad it is for someone to flirt with the enemy!”
“Yeah, but like, you sure you’re not just…I don’t know…pissed that Felix was flirting with someone who isn’t you?”
“The hell?” you hissed. “Felix does not flirt with me.”
Yugyeom sighed and rolled his eyes. “If that’s how you think, you are a lost cause, woman. When you write him notes or whatever on your wrist—which by the way, talk about cheesy!—his face lights up like a Christmas tree. And your banter as you do paperwork? Don’t get me started.”
“He gets excited because goodness knows Felix loves rice cakes more than anything. And office banter is nothing but what it is! What, I can’t argue about the better way to appeal to customers? What’s so romantic about different marketing topics? Seriously, do you know how un-sexy ‘Geographic Segmentation’ sounds? Anyway, I’m still upset that loverboy’s sucking up to PR. I mean, really?” you scoffed.
“Who’s sucking up to PR?” A deep voice came, startling you. When Felix took a seat next to you, you rolled your eyes and stood up. Petty, but absolutely necessary. You weren’t going to stand for anyone who mingled with PR. And just like that, you strut off towards your department, deciding that your table was the best place to eat lunch for now.
“I cannot even bear to see you guys sometimes,” Yugyeom exhaled, watching Felix try to comprehend what had just taken place in front of his eyes.
--
One entire week had passed since you started to act cold towards Felix, who had not a single clue what on earth was going on. Every time he tried to speak to you, you brushed it off with some lame excuse about having to think of the best way to brand the company’s latest product or that you were busy with paperwork.
“Chan, did I do something?” Felix questioned one Thursday, leaning on his superior’s desk. His face seemed to be clearly distraught by the furrowed eyebrows and pursed lips.
“Why? Did you do something?” Chan shot back, typing away at his laptop.
“I don’t know, man! [Y/N]’s been avoiding me like the plague. And she only does that if I do something wrong. Remember when I didn’t show up to our reunion in high-school? When you and the alumni hyungs wanted to hang at the amusement park but I didn’t go? Yeah, she wouldn’t talk to me because she was so upset,” Felix sighed, rubbing his temples. “This time, I don’t even know what’s up. And it sucks. I miss her rice cakes. It’s been a week.”
“Well, try to think of anything that you might’ve done to piss her off. Take her stapler? Send a late file?” Chan suggested, still not looking up from his screen.
“None of that! I swear, I blinked, and then she was mad. This is such bad timing because I want to ask her out for the holidays, and the break is starting soon. I don’t wanna end the year this way!” Felix whined, shoulders slumping.
“Thank me later,” Chan told him, raising his voice, “[Y/N]! Please come over here. There are some files to be looked over pronto!”
“Coming!” you replied, getting off your chair and walking to your superior’s table. But just as you came, he stood up and grabbed his clipboard.
“Actually, I have a meeting about now. But don’t worry, the file that needs to be looked over is—oh wow! Lee Felix.pdf is right here. Amazing. Love you both, see you at lunch!” With a grin, Chan sauntered off.
You folded your arms and tapped your shoes indignantly. “What, Felix?”
“I’m so sorry about Chan,” he apologized, rubbing his hands together. “But I do need to talk to you. Why have you been ignoring me?”
You rolled your eyes. “Oh, I don’t know, Felix. Maybe because someone was being all buddy-buddy last Wednesday with some girl from PR. I mean, are you even for real? How could you flirt with someone from PR?!”
“Wait… are you jealous?”
“Why does everybody automatically assume that I’m jealous?” you snapped. “The answer is no, you idiot! I’m angry because you were mingling with our rivals, our arch nemeses!”
When Felix remembers the events of last Wednesday, a laugh escapes his mouth. “W-What?”
“Don’t ‘what’ me. I clearly saw you being all generous and handing one of the PR girls a gift in the staff room. I have eyes, you know!”
“[Y/N]… no…” Felix started, trying to stifle more laughter. “I wasn’t flirting with her. That girl’s a family friend and I had to return a book that my mom borrowed from her mom. She told me that just because we’re family friends didn’t mean that her department would go easy on us. And I told her, ‘of course’, because I’m loyal to Marketing—I’m loyal to our team. Besides, I already have someone else in mind that I’d like to flirt with.”
You were taken aback. Somewhere deep in the crevices of your heart was a wave of relief mixed with disappointment, but you waved it off and let a giant smirk rest on your lips. “Woah, woah, woah, Lee Felix! Who’s the special someone?”
“Like I’d tell you, cheesebrain.”
“You suck.”
“No, not really. Anyway, you’re going back to Seoul for the break, right?”
“Oh yeah, why?”
“Wanna meet up on the 26th? I’m going home, too,” Felix invited.
“Oh shoot, yeah, sure! I’ll be sure to mark my schedule. I’m free that day anyway. What time to what time?”
“Just keep it flexible. I’ll text you or you know,” Felix motioned to his arm, “maybe I’ll write.”
“Just text me, I might accidentally wash it off.”
“See you then!”
--
The cold winter air was not the only thing that greeted you once you arrived back in Seoul, no. As soon as you set foot into the familiar gates of your home, your parents and relatives showered you with tight squeezes, slobbery kisses, and all sorts of questions. Were you eating properly? Did you have time to go Christmas shopping? How was work? Did you meet your soulmate yet? Was Busan better than Seoul, or Seoul better than Busan?
As much as you wanted to entertain your family with tales of Busan, settling in after a long travel sounded too good to pass. Once you spent an ample amount of time with them, you headed upstairs to your room.
Ah, your room. Upon opening the door, you took a whiff of the comforting scent of your original room, familiarity embracing you like an old friend. You flopped down on the fluffed-up sheets and could not resist a grin.
It was good to be home.
In a few hours, the grandfather clock in the living room would chime, signaling the start of a new day and the beginning of Christmas itself. But for now, you wanted nothing more but to put your mind at rest, leaving all thoughts of work behind at the doorstep. It was just you, your bed, and the chilly winter weather.
But someone—no, rather something—came to join your cozy trio, and it was right there in bright blue ink on your left wrist.
“Hey there. Get home safely?”
With a smile, you grabbed the gel pen in your bag and started to jot down a response.
“I thought you preferred text.”
“My head hurts and I don’t want to use my phone. I’m just resting in my room and hiding from my sisters, who won’t stop asking me about you.”
“Oh, so you’ve discussed me?”
“[Y/N], you never answered my first question.”
“Righty-o, Sir Lee. I did, indeed, come home fine with Grandma. It was fun to bring her home. The family’s stoked we’ve come.”
“Can I have permission to erase lines with wet wipes every few messages? My arm gets crowded. Also, please use a water-based pen. It makes it easier to wipe off.”
“Just text, then.”
“I deleted your number, too.”
“What the hell, Felix?”
“I’m kidding! See you on Kakao!”
--
“So, do I wear this sweater or this blouse? Kinda think the blouse is cute, but the sweater’s practical since the weather’s begging to freeze my butt,” you spoke into your laptop, which displayed a video of Chan furrowing his eyebrows as he took a look at your choices.
“You’re worrying too much. Just go with the sweater, it doesn’t make you look any less cute,” Chan snickered, “it’s so fun to watch my little [Y/N] put so much effort into this.”
Your cheeks flushed. “Just shut up and help me, Chan! Skirt, jeans, or leggings?”
“Skirt? Why would you even suggest a skirt? Damn, girl, you’re asking for frostbite at this point. Go with the leggings and make sure to wear leg warmers. Bring a thick coat, too.”
“Okay, mom. But are you sure this doesn’t make me look like a Christmas tree? Maybe a CHRISmas tree!”
Chan rolled his eyes and sighed. “It won’t be cute if your teeth are chattering and your skin begs to be kept warm. Just dress warmly. Hey, hey, what’s with the sigh?”
“Wait. Yo, yo, I just realized something. It’s just going to be me and Felix I think tomorrow. I-Is that a date or something? What if it is?!”
“Calm down. Did he say if it was or not?”
“I don’t know! He just said he was going to spend the day with me!”
A 480p-quality simper sat on Chan’s lips on the screen. “Are you scared because it might be a date or because he might just be asking you out as a friend?”
“I’m not SCARED, Chan! You know what, that’s honestly the least of my concerns!” you answered indignantly. “What if he stands me up? Remember the amusement park fiasco?”
“Relax, [Y/N]. He will NOT stand you up. Have you seen the way he’s been lately? Felix has been overtiming a lot, he’s always punctual and/or early for meetings, and he makes sure to go to all the places he’s assigned to. Whenever he can’t make it, he always messages a day or two in advance. I think that says something.”
“Okay, okay. You’re right. Anyway, I’m going to wash up and go to sleep. Thank you so much for taking the time to video chat me. I’m going to go now, merry Christmas! Say hi to unnie for me, please. Love you, bye.”
“Bye, [Y/N]! Good luck. Text me the details of it all! Merry Christmas. Love you too!”
--
Was it irregular to be having hands this clammy, to be having palms this sweaty? Felix pressed two fingers to his neck to check his pulse. Okay, great. It was good to know that he was still alive.
‘Agh! This is going to kill me! Please, please, please come soon,’ Felix thought, checking his phone for a new notification. Just in case, he rolled up his padded jacket’s sleeve and checked his arm. Both were devoid of any sign from you.
As if on cue, the freckled boy felt a tap on his back and there you were, bundled up in a cozy outfit. Holy. Crap. He had to fight the urge to squeeze you in his arms.
“H-Hey, [Y/N]. Glad you could make it.” Felix cleared his throat, offering his arm for you to hold. “Um, shall we? Have you eaten lunch?”
“Yeah, I have. You?”
“Same. Anyway, is there anywhere you want to go to?” Felix asked, starting to walk.
You squinted your eyes in thought. “Hmm… I don’t have anything particular in mind.”
“Alright, so it’s 2:45 now. I was thinking that maybe you wanna go to the old arcade? We can spend some time there, then maybe go around the area. Look at a museum if you want.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
--
Laughter filled the air as you clutched your stomach, trying to stop yourself from giggling too much. At this point, you were borderline gasping for air with every guffaw. Felix was doing the same, and he had to hold onto your shoulder to keep himself from stumbling onto the concrete ground.
“I can’t believe you did that, Felix! We could have gotten kicked out of the museum, damn it!” you commented between laughs. “I’m so embarrassed by you now!”
“Not my fault that the little kid wanted to see me bust some dance moves. Yugyeom isn’t the only one in Marketing who can dance, you know,” Felix answered, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Whatever, you doofus. What’s next? It’s pretty dark already, so maybe dinner?” you asked, checking your watch.
Felix cleared his throat and his back started to stiffen. “Actually, I have a place in mind.”
You nodded and proceeded to hail a taxi from the waiting stand. Felix whispered something to the driver and you were off, silently sitting in the backseat.
“Where are we going?”
“Shhh, you’ll see,” was all Felix managed to reply before he looked out the window thoughtfully.
As soon as you arrived at the mystery place, Felix payed the cab driver and helped you get out. When you stepped out of the car, your eyes widened. You’d recognize this area anywhere.
For a little, silence was all that was shared between you two as you walked alongside the riverbank, the one place you knew had a special space for in your heart. Back then, this had been you and Felix’s favorite spot to go to after a tiring school day. And on one fateful December 26th, you were back, walking beside him once again.
The frigid wind left you to huddle a little closer than usual to Felix, who didn’t seem to mind. Gentle brushing of the hands led your fingers to intertwine with his, locking safely in his cozy yet sweaty palms; you could only hope he would not hear the erratic beating of your heart pounding against your ribcage with every passing second. This was happening, this was happening, this was happening—and oh dear, you didn’t dislike it.
A few minutes seemed like eternity with Lee Felix. But eternity wasn’t going to cut it for the scene that lay in front of you, the scene he had brought you to.
Sitting on the riverside was a small tent lit dimly by the soft glow of fairy lights, a sight you’d only managed to conjure up in your head once, long ago. But there it was, every bit of it as real as the warm feeling of Felix’s hands in yours.
Your lips parted. “F-Felix, is this…?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, leading you to the small tent and helping you take a seat inside. “Uh, there’s some soju in that cooler and some gimbap over there if you want. And japchae. Chopsticks are here.”
“When did you have the time to even prepare this? I swear, you’ve been with me all day,” you questioned, reaching for the chopsticks as Felix cracked open the plastic container of gimbap.
He smiled. “Oh, I called for help from people I know who’d never pass up the chance to aid in this surprise.”
You gasped. “Let me guess. Hyunjin? Jisung? Seungmin, Jeongin?”
He gave you thumbs-up. “My boys.”
“Our boys,” you corrected, shoving a piece of kimbap in your mouth.
A few gimbaps and bites of japchae later, you found yourselves in silence once again, sipping soju from little paper cups.
“So…I think this is the part where I start talking,” Felix began, wiping his mouth. He directed his gaze right at your eyes.
“I hope you liked the little surprise, [Y/N]. Even though… technically… it wasn’t my idea, but yours. Actually, the reason I brought you here was because it’s finally time for me to give something to you, very, very long overdue,” he continued, “when we were in highschool, I didn’t expect us to become friends. Frankly, I though that I annoyed you every time I talked to you at the 4419 bus stop. Remember when we first had a proper conversation? Man, after that, the ball just speeded downhill. Before I knew it, we were an inseparable duo. [Y/N] and Felix. Felix and [Y/N]. Hell, I remember getting poked fun at for it, and people were teasing me that I liked you. Which… honestly, I’ve come to realize…was true. I admit, they were right. It’s actually kind of weird, I’ve only known since recently that I caught some real, big feelings for you back then.”
Here Felix paused to take a sip of water before he went on. “I haven’t forgotten the first time I found out my soulmate link. Blue ink, wrist, all-caps: ‘STUDY’. When I found out that a girl from our school had a similar link, I almost freaked out. But honestly? I only started to flirt with her to um—wow, this is embarrassing—make you jealous. Childish, right? And after a while, ironically, it backfired. ‘Cause I started to like her. Anyway, fast forward, college, right? We all know what happened… then what happened after graduation. I lost you. My soulmate, but most importantly, my best friend. It was the worst because I lost you, and I could have avoided that,” he sighed, “and so here we are. Somehow, life has given us a second chance, and I don’t want to screw this up. So [Y/N], I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. I’m sorry that I did so many stupid things in the past, I’m sorry that I was an awful best friend, I’m sorry that I didn’t fight harder to keep you in my life. I’m sorry for hurting you.”
“Felix,” you piped up suddenly, “Look, I’m sorry too. I think it’s a failure on both parts because really, maybe if I wasn’t so selfish, we could have avoided the whole fight. I didn’t know you were willing to wait for me until, you know, then. I’ve blamed myself a lot for that, but I’ve come to realize that you know what? It’s alright to make mistakes, and I forgive myself for doing that. And if I can forgive myself, I can forgive you. When we decided to restart our friendship, honestly, I was more than relieved to hear you were on board for it as well. So, can we agree to put all our mistakes in the past?”
“Yes. I’d love that. Man, thank you so much, [Y/N], for giving me another chance. I, too, forgive you for everything. And I’m so glad that you’re back in my life.”
“Aw, come here,” you grinned, opening your arms for a hug. Felix wrapped his arms around you tightly, and for a while, that’s how you two stayed.
“Wait, I’m actually not done,” Felix announced, pulling away. As he opened his mouth to speak, his hands started to shake a little bit.
“Oh?” You tilted your head to the side, curious as to what the boy would say next.
“I can’t promise you that I won’t make any more mistakes in the future, but for what it’s worth, I’ve learned from the past. And if anything, anything, happens that causes me to stumble and hurt you, I’m willing to put up a fight to make it right. I can’t promise you that the future holds all flowers and sunshine, but if there’s one thing that I am absolutely, terribly sure of, it is that [Y/N]?”
“Mm?”
“I’m in love with you.”
All you could hear was the faint howling of the wind as you were rendered absolutely speechless. It took minutes to process the words Felix had just spoken, and when you managed to grasp the idea of it, all you could sputter out was, “Really?”
Felix nodded. “Yes. Really.”
“I’ve waited since third-year of highschool for you to say that,” you admitted, mustering all your strength not to smile. “So, can I…kiss you?”
“Yes, yes you can,” he answered, leaning in.
So, slowly, surely, you kissed him. You let the gentle caress of his lips speak for themselves as they locked with your own, causing your heart to beat fervently in your chest. It may have been short, chaste even, but one kiss was all it took for you to confirm the vehemence that had been lurking deep down in the crevices of your entire being.
“I’m sorry that this isn’t as grand as you’d hoped. I remember you told me that you wanted big sparks to fly when you met your soulmate,” Felix laughed nervously, taking the opportunity to rest his hand on top of yours.
You shook your head. “No, I’m glad that it’s you, and I’m glad that this is how it turned out.”
Perhaps if it had been another day in another place at another time, you’d say that loving Lee Felix was quite full of irony. But since you were here, at this specific moment on this specific day in this specific place at this specific time, you could truly and sincerely say that there was nothing ironic about it, that there was nothing paradoxical about loving Lee Felix.
There was only bliss. There was only certainty.

True Life: I worked for a Sociopath
In early 2013, I started a journey with a company that I loved. I was hired on as a sales associate by a strong, powerful and amazing store manager who literally taught me everything I know. She promoted me 6 months in to a lower level management role, and when she got an offer to move onto bigger things in the company, she helped push me into a fulltime management role. Her assistant manager at the time ultimately ended up filling her position as she left, and to be honest, I had no idea what I was in for. I hadn't worked too much with this particular manager prior, and didn't have much of a real raport with her at all. I truly was excited about the change, and everything felt like a new beginning. The first year was pretty rocky in general, but we just chalked it up to us all being new in our roles, and pushed through it until we got onto a schedule. The assistant manager at the time and I were incredibly close, and it was pretty clear to me at the time that she was being bullied and demonized by our store manager, but I thought maybe it was just some kind of personal bad blood between them. The store manager (we will call her Sarah) would talk to associates and other managers behind her back, calling her names, and pointing her fingers at her for anything going awry in the store. Finally, our ASM snapped, and left the company. Sarah told us all that things would be SO Much better without her there "creating hostility". Most of us knew that the former ASM wasn't the problem.
With the separation of our ASM, I was then ushered into the role as a replacement. I was excited. I was excited about a raise, about more responsibility and the growth that I had worked SO hard for. To give you just a little information on my character: I'm a fiery personality, but I'm also incredibly compassionate. I'm a giant mama bear, and I looked at all my employees as my little cubs. With that being said, I was always doing everything with theirs and the stores' best interest in mind. Now at this time, Sarah had A LOT of personal stuff going on. She always did, to be honest. The personal shit never stopped. But, unlike most people who put themselves in a store management position, she used her power to work everything in HER favor so it didn't conflict with her super dramatic life. This meant breaking every rule along the way. She scheduled herself only opening shifts, on a consistent schedule. Every single Sunday off. And when any small thing happened in her life, she just wouldn't show up to her shifts. She would expect me to come in on my days off to cover her shifts on a monthly basis. She made me work doubles covering her shifts more than a few times. If you were not flexible with her, she would tell you that you just needed to take one for the team and would punish you with a cold attitude and talk shit about you behind your back to the rest of the staff. She bullied everyone in the store, but especially the management team. On the other hand, if you were sick and tried to call out... she'd refuse to cover your shift and make you come in anyways. When she wouldn't come in for a scheduled shift, she would just code in PTO for herself and move on with her day. When she was there, she didnt do anything at all. One time she passed out in the back room from pills while our sales lead was on the floor by herself. As fulltime managers we were assigned DORs (departments of responsibility). There was Operations, Talent and Merchandising and they were split between the 3 fulltime managers. My last year with the company, I was working 2 of the 3 while Sarah was doing none. I took more than half of the conference calls. I planned our entire fiscal year. I made ever schedule, did every interview and every new hire onboarding. I was training our keyholder in the merch DOR. When I say that I was literally running a 1.6 million dollar store with no help from my SM, while only making $13hr I AM NOT KIDDING. All the while, anytime I tried to initiate positive change, and enforce standards I was immediately shot down and told "I am not the Store Manger". So essentially - we were failing. At this point I learned that on top of everything I was doing, she was telling everyone else in the store than I was a horrible manager and did nothing. She called me names to people, and even lied to them about crazy shit she claims I did. When I confronted her, she would tell me it never happened. All our employees were quitting left and right because she was literally crazy. She would yell at them on the sales floor and make them cry, force them to stay past their scheduled shifts and the few times she did make the schedule she would schedule them outside of their availability and fuck us over with coverage on the weekend. She manipulated every single person on staff. I left work crying every day.
Now here's where things got fucking psychotic. My keyholder and I had to drive to Tampa for a training certification class, and one thing led to another that ended with us spilling only a small portion of the crazy shit going on in our store. The manager training us empowered us to go to our DM. I spent the night writing and incredibly detailed list of everything she had been doing with help of the rest of the store staff and management team. The next day I called our DM and she was floored. She told me that she was going through HR to get it figured out (this was in august) and while she got in a small amount of "trouble"for a few small things, Sarah was still our store manager and she was bullying us worse than ever. Sarah immediately assumed that I was the one that got her in trouble (even though every single person on staff contributed) and she took it out on me in the worst ways. She denied all of my request offs and had my working every single weekend. Things hit rock bottom after Hurricane Irma hit us on October 2018. We had an emergency close the day before the hurricane touched down because our entire staff was living in evacuation zones and were running out of the state to stay safe from the storm. The night we closed it was me, Sarah and an associate who we will call Ashley. Things were totally normal, low stress and went fairly smoothly. When we arrived back after the storm everything seemed normal. Another week passed, and my husband and I were driving down south to his parents house when I received a call from my DM. In this call she Informed me that my CRAZY BITCH SM told her that on the night of the emergency closing I told her that if we didn't close the store I was going to KILL HER AND HER FAMILY.
WHAT THE FUCK.
She also made the mistake of telling the DM that the associate was a witness. And the DM told her that she needed to have a conversation with me and ask me why I said that. The DM (thankfully) warned me that this conversation might happen, but neither of us thought this bitch was crazy enough to actually lie about something so serious that she claims I said TO MY FACE.
BOY WERE WE WRONG!
She called out of her next shift with me, but then proceeded to come in before hours at 8:30 AM as I was opening the systems, cornered me alone in the stock room, and this bitch looks at me and says "Kianna, do you remember saying anything inappropriate to me during the emergency close?"
Me: No...
Her: Nothing... at all?
Me: Nope. Nothing at all, why?
Her *yelling*: SO YOU DONT REMEMBER THREATENING TO KILL ME AND MY FAMILY??!
ME*completely shocked that she literally said it*: No, Sarah. Seriously? We both know I would never say something like that. I literally dont even use that kind of language jokingly.
Her: Just admit you said it and apologize.
Me: I'm not going to admit to something I didnt say.
Her: Ashley was working she heard you!
Me: Oh really? Ashley happens to be my opener. Let's ask her! If she heard me say that, I will apologize and just accept that I somehow said this horrible thing and blocked it out.
Her *hesitantly*: oh... okay.
When Ashley arrived, we sat her down and Sarah asked her the same uncomfortable question. "Do you remember Kianna saying something incredibly inappropriate and threatening the night we emergency closed?"
Ashley: Uhh... no?
Sarah: So you don't remember her threatening my family's life?
Ashley: UHM, DEFINITELY NOT?!
Sarah: UGH, WELL I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY, ASHLEY, THAT SINCE YOU WON'T ADMIT THAT SHE THREATENED ME THAT I WILL LOOK LIKE A LIAR TO MY BOSS!
Turns out she then tried to groom Ashley into lying for her by offering her a raise if she lied. Ashley told our DM this. SARAH WAS STILL OUR STORE MANAGER. By the end of October, 3 MONTHS AFTER TURNING HER IN, I was done waiting. I turned in my notice, found a better paying job and left that toxic situation. I left because I felt unsafe in my work environment and despite all my evidence and her threats and her literally lying in hopes to get me fired and arrested I WAS STILL BEING FORCED TO WORK WITH HER.
The day I turned in my notice, I found out I was pregnant with my son. Leaving that toxic environment was the best decision I ever made. KNOW YOUR WORTH, GUYS.

my thoughts on Arrow 6x18
Tumblr media
I was excited for this episode and it turns out there was good reason. I might just start trusting Steve when he gets hyped over episodes now, he’s building quite a track record. So let’s dive in. I literally took these notes while I was watching so I apologize if they’re a bit scattered.
Okay, Oliver is clearly off the rails. S1-2 suit and all. The man is a wrecking ball.
Wait…where’d he get the old suit? Did he break into evidence lockup? Is that why he’s at the precinct? I HAVE QUESTIONS.
Wait, the lockup didn’t blow up when Siren blew up the previous place did it? I HAVE QUESTIONS, DAMMIT.
Ten hours earlier. Okay. So we learn why he’s nuts. Is it the Vertigo? I bet it the Vertigo.
If anyone can find rock solid proof of crooked city employees, its Felicity.
BAD COP CASTLE. LOL. Felicity is right. He can’t go in alone. Cuz that’s just INSANE.
LOLOLOL. “I parent trapped you” BLESS YOU FELICITY. Yes, boys, get over your damn egos already.
“You keep that attitude you’re gonna end up all alone” LISTEN, don’t feed this boy’s fears, Dig!
Felicity KNOWS that Oliver is trying, DIGGLE. C’mon, man. FEEDING HIS FEARS. Stoppit!
“If I get impeached, you get promoted” OH SHIT, yeah if Oliver is impeached, Quentin is DEAD. You know what happens to mayors who aren’t Oliver in this town.
God bless Quentin being on his side. Saying all these nice things... Oh yeah the man is dead.
SHE HACKED NAPSTER FOR HER SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT LOL
RAISA AND FELICITY INTERACTED. There is a god! It’s been 84 years!
See I told y’all Felicity would have proof. Oh… but its implicating him. WAIT. STOP YELLING AT YOUR WIFE FOR HELPING YOU. Duuuuude.
Oh this scene. Yeah, he’s totally hallucinating this.
The best part is that the writers have done such a MASTER JOB of writing characters OOC this season that we honestly can’t tell if Oliver is hallucinating or if this is something Felicity is REALLY saying
That said we SAW the Vertigo last ep folks. This isn’t rocket science.
What is that tapping noise he keeps hearing? Is that the Vertigo? The heralding of a hallucination?
“My wife wants a separation” DONT MAKE ME SOB, OLIVER. Also she so doesn’t. It’s so sad that he believes this, he EXPECTED this.
I find it touching that he chooses Quentin to confide in here. His subconscious is kinda beautiful sometimes.
So he thinks he hasn’t changed at all? Or he doesn’t. Cuz Quentin is pep talking him but its HIM thinking this up… SHE LOVES YOU. YES SHE DOES. LISTEN TO YOUR FUCKED UP BRAIN, MAN.
Going to the council meeting hopped up on Vertigo seems a bad idea. So is this a hallucination? Or not? HELP. I HAVE CONFUSION.
THERES THAT NOISE AGAIN
YEAH PROMETHEUS!! But… Oliver… SEE. HE’S DEAD. Get a clue here.
Damn Oliver’s subconscious is kicking his ass. LOL this is such a metaphor. I can’t deal.
So he kills Chase in his subconscious, something he’d evolved past before. But he wants to protect his family. LORD, Oliver you are fucked up.
THERES THAT NOISE AGAIN. Duuuuude I’m starting to wonder if *I’m* losing it. And Adrian. OK, Ollie. This is your clue here that you’re on Vertigo.
DING DING DING give the boy a cookie!
Chase trolling him is classic. I missed this guy so much. (And dude, you couldn’t manage to take ANYONE from him… Sam so doesn’t count)
I have to keep reminding myself this is Oliver’s subconscious.
“Felicity, William and I will be fine.” Of course you will. You’re family.
Interesting… “you’re a better Oliver Queen. But a worse hero.” HERE is the base of his worries. “You’re the one enemy you can’t defeat” Damn your brain is clever, Oliver. But also wrong. STOP HATING YOURSELF.
I MISS THE QUEEN MANSION. This living room isn’t QUITE right though. And fuckouttahere LL.You don’t even look REMOTELY like pre-island LL.
I love Chase literally listing all the reasons LL as BC was a Dumb Thing.
So this is just convincing him he has to do go alone. If people fight with him, they get hurt. They die. Sometimes I think his protective instinct is too strong.
Awww hallucinating Raisa being killed by Dragon… that’s rough. Let’s not go there, show, okay?
SEE yes he wants to do it alone. Don’t listen to Vertigo!Hood, Oliver. The man is off his nut.
For a second there I thought Quentin said “We need to retweet” and I didn’t even think that was an off thing to say. I NEED A NAP.
Okay so the s1-2 suit itself is a hallucination. And it symbolizes his need to do it alone. GOTCHA. I’m all caught up now. Very clever.
Awww cute Felicity and William! She helped him put his project back together. But ohhhh no, she knows Oliver gone of the rails. “He said you kicked him out?” “No! I would never!” I KNEW IT.
LOL at William knowing exactly what Felicity is up to and bringing her sneakers. And holy cow he IS as tall as she is now!
OH NO DID YOU JUST HIT QUENTIN. I HOPE THAT WAS A HALLUCINATION.
RUN FELICITY RUN. Hey, that’s the backlot of the studios. LOL. Oh it WAS QUENTIN, not a hallucination. Oliver, you’re in big trouble.
She’s very brave, going after him when he’s like this. And awww at her talking him down. “What happens to William?” “William has you.” “What happens to ME?” BLESS.
“I’m glue, baby.” SHE CALLED HIM BABY. IM DYING.
Yes, listen to your wife. She’s your life partner. You can’t get rid of her. “Listen to your heart.” AWWW THIS IS SO SWEET.
YAY OLICITY STUNT! ITS BEEN 84 YEARS. Yep, I’m watching this whole thing again tomorrow (today, when this is posted)
Felicity went to raves. Felicity did drugs. ITS CANON. WRITE THE FICS, FANDOM. FELICITY MEETS OLIVER AT A RAVE.
So the suit is REAL? I have my questions again!! WHERE DID IT COME FROM.
I don’t like him going alone, but I DO like him saying that he’s not giving up on Felicity and William.
WELP there we go. Impeached. Saw that coming. Buncha boogers. Quentin is mayor! He’s toast.
Firing Overwatch. AWW. I mean I get why he’s doing it but… fighting Diaz alone is the opposite of what he needs to do. But I’m glad he’s apologizing to William.
AWW Felicity and William are most important to him! More than ANYTHING. I love this family.
Siren wants Diaz to kill Oliver… hows that redemption working for y’all? I can’t believe loliver is less toxic than Siren/Oliver. 😂
Tumblr media
Okay, I have some more thoughts, especially now that I’ve had all night to think about this. So I’m throwing in a cut.
While I’m not fond of Oliver choosing to go alone, I get why he’s doing it. It’s a plot point they’ve been angling towards, to be sure. But also I think they outlined why in this episode. Because what Dig said to him about being a poor leader has gotten to him and he really is wondering if it’s true. Things are piling up and what is falling by the wayside? What can he let fall by the wayside? One thing was made clear in this episode, what he cannot let fail is his family. Felicity, William... they are his priority above pretty much everything. He needs to save the city, absolutely, but not at the cost of his family. Oliver sees going alone as a way to save his family. Now, he’s wrong, of course.
Remember all those interviews that have hinted at Oliver learning how to ask for help? How Emily herself has mentioned that? I think thats the big lesson here. He’s having a hard time juggling all his responsibilities, which means he has to learn how to relinquish control to others, to trust them to help him, to trust them to do what needs to be done to help him, to help the city. I’m willing to wager that in the weeks ahead, given what we’ve learned about the final eps of the season, the court case and all of that... that Felicity might be instrumental in organizing some help for Oliver. I think she might be the one to call in Human Target. But we shall see.
But something else... Diaz wanted Oliver to fall for the trap but Felicity thwarted that. Felicity said that their identities are safe but LOL... There’s zero chance that Diaz won’t find out that she’s the one, the ONLY ONE who can pull Oliver back. So what happens to Felicity when Diaz realizes she the barrier between him and what he wants?
Tumblr media
What’s important here is that Oliver will do whatever he has to save his family, to keep William and Felicity safe. I think Felicity focuses on her company next week because she has to help, the mission is a part of her now, but I think eventually she’s going to push her way back onto Oliver’s team. Because he needs her. And maybe she’ll bring the rest of the team back together. But that’s all *~*later*~* because for now, things are gonna start getting sooooo very real in the weeks ahead and I’m really really really ready for it.

Life.
The short version.  Very to the point.
haha. I’m not capable.  This was as short as I could go.
TL;DR at the bottom
Nov 2019 - I was passed over for a promotion by someone who had been working there a lot less time than me and less qualified.  Why?  Diversity.  They needed a man to be manager.  Also because one of the other managers, someone who I had believed to be my friend, took things I said outside of work when we were drinking in her apartment -misunderstood venting for actual complaints- and spread horrible HORRIBLE rumors about me to the staff and my boss’ boss.  For her, this was nothing.  She never saw complaining about me to the staff as an issue (thinking venting and rumours were different).  To this day she does not understand how much the staff love her and will do ANYTHING for her.  If she hates someone, EVERYONE hates that person.
Hate being a strong word.  She didn’t hate me.  We just didn’t vibe.  Different styles of managing/different personalities.  She manages by being friends with the staff under her.  It works for her but it is dangerous.  Such as calling me such a bitch.  Everyone now thinks I am a bitch.  Even if they know me better or do not know me at all.
To give you an idea.  After this hand happened, months after, she came to me crying because she didn’t understand what happened between us.  She thought I was one of her closest friends.  Yeah.  She talked shit about me but she thought that was fine.  I thought she was my closest too.  Owch all around.  Spoiler: we talk it out but we dont’ go back to being friends.
Dec 2019 - I am then moved to work under the man promoted over me.  At the store the former friend/manager JUST moved out of. AKA I moved to the store with a staff full of people who HATED ME.  And they were not afraid to let me know it.
The manager knows how upset I am, vows to try and make me as happy working under him as possible.  I don’t blame him.  He wanted a promotion.  He took the opportunity.  He says he’ll try and get the staff on my side.
2020 - I become friends with this manager.  We talk about everything.  We only hang out at work but due to COVID we are the only two people.  Everyone else laid off.  We become very close.  We don’t want to mix seeing each other outside of work with work and that’s fine with me!
Safe topics for him are sex and drugs and those taboo topics that make you feel close to someone.  Politics, gay rights, woman’s rights, poc rights.  Food, cleaning, blah blah.  You get it.
When it comes to work tho.  I’m not happy.  I was promised (as much as one can) that I would be the manager of the next store opening Summer 2020.  I find out through someone else (not my boss or my boss’ boss) that this store is not opening due to COVID.
My depression has always been something I battle.  December was rough.  Then with COVID and learning my promotion was not going to happen this year (my boss’ boss asking me to stick it out b/c who knew what would happen?).  My thoughts go to self harm and suicide.  Never would I do it.  But I have reoccurring fantasies of other people doing it for me (car crash, work injury, etc).
My depression gets really really really bad.  The worst its been in 5 years.  I go to work, come home, go to bed.  That’s all.  I can’t do anything else.  For a weeks on weeks.
I have a partner.  He has been bless to not have to deal with someone like me before or deal with this state himself.  Which is great in a way.  We can’t be mad at people for not feeling our misery.  However, it does mean he does not know how to help me.  He tries his best but... well.  You know.
I opened up to my boss about it.  My boyfriend did not know about my suicidal thoughts, but he did.  Just to let you know how close I was to him.
June 2020- I apply for a new job.  Clearly I need a change.  My boss offers up his recommendation if I need it.
I don’t get it b/c I put my foot in my mouth during the interview.  I accidentally let them know I was leaving, basically, because I was promised a promotion (twice now) and did not get it b/c of COIVD.  (I didn’t mention it was twice and that the first time was b/c of rumours from a misunderstanding with a friend at work situation).  The interviewer was not happy with that! “We don’t know if a manager spot will be available next year.  How do I know you won’t just leave here?”  -- fair.  But I couldn’t exactly tell her the real reasons!
I talk to my boss’ boss to let her know how I’ve been feeling.  Roughly.  Mostly just that I feel like I don’t have a future at the company.  She’s upset.  She never meant to make me feel that way.  We restart the plan to make me manager next.
This is when I start to realize my relationship with my boss (the man) is not working.  We’re friends, sure.  But I realize that every time I try and talk to him about managing/improving the store/ways to improve sales/ WORK stuff.... he does not want to talk about it.  Any idea I have gets shot down and his reason is “our store is fine”.  Yes.  It was fine.  But it could be great!  I want it to be great.
Every time I’ve asked him for feedback on my job performance, he says I’m doing everything great.  That he doesn’t know what those rumours about me being a bitch were about.  I’m great at my job and am doing a great job and should keep it up!
I feel re-inspired.  I’m talking to a therapist again.  I have my boss’ boss supporting me for my promotion (only between me and one other woman -outside hire but she does have more retail and managing experience than me so tough competition).  And most of the staff who hated me are gone.  Turnover high due to COVID and also b/c the company was bought out a year before and people no longer stick around since they went corporate.
I am much more productive at work!  I start going back to managing more.  Competitions, fun stuff, new ideas, more productive learnings, etc.  The new staff and I get along great.  Lots of work done!
Which is when I realize exactly how much I”m doing.  I’m doing my boss’ job.  All of it.  Stuff I don’t need to do.  I have been all year.  I know it was because I was a ‘manager in training’.  But I’ve already learned how to do operational stuff.  I’m doing his job.  What is he doing??  Wow.  I realize he’s not doing anything.  Even managing the staff.  I’m the one coaching and motivating and giving feedback.  When I’m not around, the staff tells me he does nothing.  When I am there, he’s asking me what he should be doing.  He refers to me as the ‘real’ manager and that he’s just the face.  ALL THE TIME.  I suddenly realize (thank you therapy and unbiased pov) that this has been our dynamic since I moved under him.
Why do I Let him do this?  We’re friends.  I forgive him.  He has anxiety.  He’s threatened by me.  He knows I could do his job.  He wants to keep me happy so he doesn’t lose me because I’m the one doing his job!  Of course.  Well I love the job so I can keep doing it, right?
Ignore the fact that he makes 10,000 more a year than me.  I’m getting that promotion next so.   My boss’ boss -in a talk with her and my boss- tells me that I am 100% the next manager according to her.     Yup!  It’s FINEEEEEEeeeeeeee.....
Then.  He talks about MY sex life to one of the staff.  One of the new girls that works under me.
My sex life is a whole ‘nother thing.  It does not exist.  He doesn’t understand that.  I don’t understand it either.  I’ve been with my boyfriend for two years but we haven’t had sex since... six months into the relationship.  It’s why I opened up to him about it.  That’s actually something I really need to find someone to talk to about so... will do that at some point!  sure.
NOT COOL.  I found out about this through deductive reasoning actually.  The coworker asked me about my sex life which I NEVER brought up to her before.  She asked me if I even had sex.  NO ONE would ask me that.  EVER.  I’m not a bitch but I am a bit of a hardass.  No one would ask me that out of the blue.
Then my boss said something about regretting what he says when his anxiety makes him panic.  Okay.  Yup.  I can put two and two together.
I wait.
He comes to me a few days later and admits what he did.  I told him I already had forgiven him because I did.  His anxiety is bad.  I get it.
I thought I did.  But he did exactly what the other manager did back in 2019.  Made me feel like I could open up and then gossiped about me to the staff.  Worse, he knew that’s what happened before.  He saw me crying for weeks over it.  He was my shoulder to cry on about it.  Now he did it to me.
I’m suddenly no longer cool with being friends and doing his job.  What am I getting out of this?
Sept 2020 - I go to another manager for advice.  She’s older, mature, and is not my manger’s boss so she can’t get him in trouble.  She tells me this is so NOT OKAY and that I should have come out with this stuff much sooner and that I need to talk to our boss.   My boss’ boss.  The one that’s been working with me.  We have a great relationship.  She’s my boss’ boss but she won’t just fire him or tell him I went to her about this.
I ask her for a call, she’s busy, so she calls me when I’m next working.  Same day I’m working with my boss.  He -being paranoid and anxiety ridden- freaks out when I take the call in the office.  He keeps coming back, as does the other employee (Same one he gossiped to).  I get frustrated and half tell my boss what’s going on -it’s messy and not at all how I planned to talk to her- but I get the main points out.  My boss fucked up not only with that gossip but in some other ways that affect the company and I can’t keep pretending everything is fine.  I don’t want him fired or anything but I know he can do better and I want to help.  This is all true too!  B/c while I”m hurt I do understand and I do want him to do better.  I want his job and I hate watching someone do the job I love and not give a shit but I don’t want it b/c I get him fired.  WHELP.  One of those times he came back to the office, he called his phone via his smartwatch and listened to my half of the messy convo from the bathroom.
I have the real convo in my car during my lunch break, pretending to call my mom.  He says some stuff to me that makes it apparent he was eavesdropping.
We have a big talk.  I tell him exactly what I want.  I want to take a step back from doing his job because I have been doing it.  I want to give him the chance to actually manage.  Tell me what to do.  Anything you want, I will do it.  But I also want to take a step back from being friends.  Trust broken.  He’s upset.  We’re both crying.  He wants to make it up to me.  Hates breaking my trust and what we had.  I say it’s not forever but I just need to get back to that point.  We can be friends again.
Things are a bit messy at first.  I hate being unproductive at work.  I know how much there is to do.  But I can do it!
He cannot.  He freaks out at how much his job actually entails.  I didn’t know it yet but he was already looking for a new job.  We have some disagreements and it’s odd to not talk about our personal lives but we make it work.  A bit awkward but that’s okay.  I work on other projects and he takes over operations again.
Fri - Then he puts in his two weeks.  I am genuinely upset because we are friends!  And we’ve been working in each other’s laps almost a year.  He gets a job that he loves tho and he says I’ll be getting his so everyone is happy!
Sat - We talk about the next steps.  I tell him I don’t want him to feel like I’m pushing him out but I want his advice on the transition b/c I respect his opinion.  He says he knows/he’s fine with it.  We talk about being friends/hanging out when he’s at his new job.  He says he’ll do everything to ensure I’m the next manager.
Tue- I come into work unhappy but try to be happy.  There was a holiday manger call and I’m concerned b/c I wasn’t on it.  However my boss’ boss told me she already put my name in for the promotion and all it needed was a stamp of approval.  She told me that as long as nothing dramatic happened, I would get it.  Told my boss this and he was supportive.  We talked about one of the new girls’ training and I mentioned I wanted to take it over.  My boss was unhappy about this (he loves training) but he was leaving and he knew it.  I take over the call b/c he has it on his phone on earbuds.  However he’s texting his boyfriend angrily.  I can sense he was upset by this but based on saturday’s convo I know he’ll remember and be fine.  I plan to talk to him before he leaves but give him some space.
The power goes out.  The call is cut off for us.  I make calls and set up the backup program while he goes out for a smoke.  He comes in and leaves and comes in and leaves.  I think nothing of it b/c that’s what he does when he’s angry or anxious.
I deal with some customers and then we’re dead so I go to the office.  His keys are on the table.
I walk to the backdoor.  I see him in his car.  He sees me.  He peels out of the parking lot.
I call my boss’ boss.  He emailed her.  Said that I was a horrible person, awful to work with, and should not be made manager.  He attaches something I emailed him back in January 2020.  A profile I wrote on one of our employees.  He thought it was proof of how horrible a person I was.  (it was not bad. Even my boss’ boss said it was fine.  It read like a FBI profile.)  He claimed I wrote these on everyone and kept them in a file.  Really, that one I wrote and emailed him b/c I was so upset over what happened in nov/dec 2019 because I felt like people didn’t understand me when I spoke.  That my brain worked differently.  He asked what I meant and when I said it was like a profile he didn’t understand and HE ASKED ME to write it down.
So my boss’ boss things this is bs to me but she still has to forward it to her boss.  B/c they had an employee not fill out his two weeks.  That’s bad for him and the company.  Ppwk.  Stats.  That sort of thing.
I check social media.  He’s blocked me on all accounts.
I cannot express how confused and hurt I was.  We were friends.  I KNOW we were friends.  I know he had anxiety.  I know why he acted the way he did with me.  But no one in my life had actively tried to hurt me so purposefully before.
That whole ‘as long as nothing drastic happens’.  Yup.  My -well- she’s now my boss- let’s me know.  That was it.  I’m not getting the promotion.  This email combined with the gossip about me from 2019 and the fact that I am very vocal when it comes to worker’s rights.  Yup.
Ask anyone I worked with.  They LOVED me.  I still feel like telling this pOV I come out looking like a bitch or something.  I cannot express how much I loved my job and had fun and how much my employees loved me.  When they found out I didn’t get it- I had multiple people from multiple locations threaten to strike.  Literally, strike.  They meant it too.
Yeah, god my ego.  But it’s true.
They offer to allow me to manage the store until they can hire someone else.  So they are okay with me short term, but not long term.  I ask if I do a good enough job if they would promote me instead of hire someone else.  Like a trial.  NOPE.  I ask if I could have some sort of development plan to ensure I actually do get the promotion I was promised three times now.  NOPE.  There is literally nothing else for me to work on.  I’m ready.  This email from my closest friend just cost me.
I think long and hard, talk to my therapist (Second one this year).  I decide to quit.  I put in my three weeks notice and work it out till the end.  I deal with many a phone call with people who are upset at me leaving and customers who are very upset to see me go.  There was a lot of crying for a month.
Nope.  didn’t have another job lined up.  Couldn’t keep working at a place I loved when they didn’t want me.  Couldn’t watch someone else do the job I loved.
They offered me a raise they offered me an extended vacation to come back.
I couldn’t do it.
They wanted an outside hire.  They spent all 3 weeks trying to find one but they couldn’t.  Rather than ask me to stay on as manager, they asked that other associate (the one with more managing experience) to do it. The one with all the complaints from customers and transphobic/racist complaints from associates.  Yup.  That one.
Now my parents were some of the people I talked to.  My parents and I have a complicated and distant relationship.  However, one hold they have over me is money.  I hadn’t seen them in over a year.  They wanted to see me despite it being COVID peak in November.  I agree as long as I quarantine.  I was hurting so much I just wanted a break.  I wanted to get away.
My last week my dad texts me.  My childhood dog was not doing well.  He was having her put down that day.  A week before I was about to go home.  She was my dog.
I deal with a lot of tears and  a wonderful shower of gifts and visits.  I’m crying now.  Damn.
And then I leave and go to my parents’ house.  I didn’t realize how bad COVID was b/c I don’t watch the news.  I also didn’t think it thru.  My parents have never been there for me emotionally.  NEVER.  I stupidly thought they would step up their game b/c of how fucking awful my life was.  Yeah.  no.  It was like I was transported back to my teenage self.  Only this time, everyone is home 24/7.  Now retired, my dad is always there.  My mom works from home b/c of covid.  Her office is the only secluded room.  I am around them always.
Tough convos like; You don’t like us do you? and So you’ll never come home again, huh?  GREAT.
Oh.  And I lost my thearpist when I lost my insurance.
My boyfriend really does try.  But he’s not good emotionally either.
It’s a fucked up mess all around.
Anyway.  Unemployed.  Figuring shit out.  I am still unemployed b/c I can’t look at getting a job.  I’m actually starting a blog and a podcast and a youtube channel.  It’s the same passion as this job was.  Only now I’m doing it myself.  It’s a lot of work and will hopefully launch soon but I am drowning in bills.  The reason I went to my parents was so that if I need their financial support I will still have it (amongst the naive idea that they would help me).  So I won’t go homeless.  I am blessed with my boyfriend having a job.  I won’t go hungry or homeless.  But my mental health is.... yeah.  I’m in a panic over a timeline that doesn’t exist.
Yeah. I’m gonna throw up if I talk more about it.
YES THIS WAS THE SHORT VERSION.  hahaha
TLDR: My closest friend cost me a promotion at my absolute favorite job I’ve ever had.  I quit the job I love.  My dog died.  I spent two weeks with my emotionally abusive parents.  My boyfriend tries but... it’s not good enough and that makes me feel worse.  I’m unemployed and starting a blog.

Ok f customers but mostly SM
We got a new store manager at my AnnJo and let me tell you the longer she is these and the more I learn about her… just wow.
Our last SM left the store on good terms (the one before her got fired for doing illegal shit so I’m glad the last one was good) and they decided to not promote any of our very competent assistant managers, but to ship in another manager from another store. They shipped in one of our assistant managers a while ago, but she had worked at our store previously a few years ago.
Back to new SM.
She’s from a super store. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem, except we lost literally half of our employees when old SM left and also college season is upon us. She doesn’t seem to understand that we just don’t have the staff size required to handle everything she wants us to do! (Also she’s really bitchy when she tells us to do something and no one likes her but she’s a pleasant person so I like talking to her she just shouldn’t have this job)
She schedules one cashier, one cutting counter person, and one MOD at any given time. I am a cashier, and having one cashier doesn’t bother me bc I can keep up with three cutting counter people sending customers my way, but the cutting counter needs at least two people, so the MOD is stuck there. Obviously I’m not an MOD, so i cant do MOD things so often times I’m stuck at the register with a customer that needs MOD assistance.
Yesterday was busy, because of course she kept the same kind of scheduling during a busy day at the end of a huge sale like, tf was she thinking?Anyways, register 1 was the only one with sufficient money to do anything bc the MOD couldn’t refill the other ones and I got a customer who was pissed off that i didn’t give her the correct change. Now I would usually understand bc of course that’s my fault, but she wouldn’t move away from my register to wait for the MOD who is stuck at the cutting counter when my line is forming and all she needs is 3 cents.
3 cents.
Ok, but to make matters worse, she forgot to schedule an opening manager one day. An employee stood outside for a while before realizing that no one was inside (she didn’t schedule stickers either when we got a 1,000 piece shipment and then another 500 piece one rip stockers) so she called the assistant manager from earlier to open the store so it opened 45 minutes late with angry customers outside and even when SM came in she doesn’t even know how to properly open the store???
She was apparently only an assistant manager for 8 months before moving to our store. One of our assistant managers has been working for AnnJo for 10 years now, and this isn’t the assistant manager I mentioned earlier?? Wtf were they thinking hiring her as a sm???
Also she makes me check her out at the register which I am NOT allowed to do but all she says in her sickly sweet voice “oh dont worry honey, I’ll make sure you won’t get in trouble” even though the MOD was right next to me like??? Why me???
All of this that i mentioned? It’s been almost a month of her reign. A month.
I wasn’t going to post this but she just tried to call me in on a day outside of my availability and I’m just sick of her already. We all are. Help.
