In the most recent season of Ninjago, many viewers noticed a significant shift in the characterization of Lloyd Garmadon. Compared to previous seasons, Lloyd appears withdrawn, distant, and shows clear signs of emotional flattening. His involvement in key events is minimal, his verbal contributions are scarce, and his body language reflects a noticeable sense of detachment. A friend and I even ranked Lloyd as the third ninja with the least screen time this season—only behind Cole and Jay. However, even they maintained their typical personalities in their brief appearances. What concerned us most was the absence of his visions, a trait confirmed as permanent in the previous two seasons.

At first, this change was frustrating. However, after discussing the matter with a friend who is about to graduate in Psychology, she offered an interpretation that completely shifted our perspective: Lloyd may be experiencing emotional disconnection as a result of accumulated traumatic events. Based on this hypothesis, we developed two plausible theories, both supported by psychological literature.

Emotional Disconnection: Clinical Definition and Foundations

Emotional disconnection is a psychological phenomenon associated with conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociative disorders, major depression, or even temporary adaptive responses to chronic stress. Broadly speaking, it refers to a reduced or lost ability to experience or express emotions, whether as an unconscious defense mechanism or as a symptom of a greater disorder.

In high-stress emotional contexts—such as repeated traumatic experiences (war, loss, betrayal, guilt, excessive responsibility)—the nervous system can enter a prolonged state of hypoactivation, meaning a general decrease in emotional, behavioral, and cognitive responses. This phenomenon is also known as emotional numbing.

Common Symptoms of Emotional Disconnection

Reduced motivation or initiative: Often, there is a loss of interest in previous activities or a lack of energy to act. In a setting like Ninjago, where characters are usually proactive, Lloyd’s passivity becomes even more striking.

Blocking or suppression of intense memories or mental processes: In individuals with traumatic experiences, the mind may suppress access to emotionally threatening content. In Lloyd’s case, this could explain the temporary absence of his visions.

Clinically, these symptoms align with conditions like PTSD, dissociative disorders, or even adaptive forms of depression. Lloyd’s training with Rontu gave him tools to manage his visions, so he may have learned to suppress them as a coping mechanism. However, such suppression can trigger an emotional rebound—an abrupt and intense resurgence of emotions or abilities—which could signal a major narrative turning point in the second half of the season or in future installments.

Application to His Visions and the Two Proposed Theories

Theory of emotional repression of visions: If Lloyd is in a dissociative state, it’s plausible that his visions—often emotionally intense (e.g., foreseeing death, betrayal, or failure)—have been unconsciously blocked. His training with Rontu gave him some control over these visions, and he may have “shut off” that channel as a form of self-protection. This aligns with clinical patterns observed in individuals who choose not to access unusual mental functions (in narrative terms) to preserve their mental stability.

Theory of resignation due to inevitability of visions: Another theory suggests Lloyd still has visions but no longer fights them. In battles such as those against Zeatrix or Thunderfang, he doesn’t use his usual combat style: instead of confronting, he dodges, retreats, and attacks from a distance. This behavior may reflect a resignation to a fate he has already foreseen.

From a psychological perspective, this relates to the concept of learned helplessness (Seligman, 1975), where a person, after repeated failures to avoid a negative outcome, stops trying and adopts a passive stance. For Lloyd, this might be a form of emotional self-preservation: if resisting the vision changes nothing, perhaps it’s better not to resist. This narrative arc is powerful because it ties directly into his past development: Lloyd, who always rebelled against his lineage and tried to shape his own destiny, now seems to be surrendering to the weight of inevitability. This may be a direct consequence of the battle with Zeatrix, where he believed he had overcome his vision, only to see it come true anyway.

Both interpretations are supported by legitimate psychological concepts. In one case, we see the effects of trauma as emotional dissociation; in the other, cognitive adaptation to a perceived inevitability. Both are plausible in characters exposed to constant stress, loss, the burden of responsibility, and supernatural abilities that carry a mental toll.

If this portrayal was intentional—which is likely—we are witnessing a characterization that realistically reflects real psychological processes, adding depth to Lloyd’s arc and opening new possibilities for future development.

Why Nya and Jay Can Remember Skybound

By the time Jay makes his final wish in Skybound, the realm crystal and Zane’s falcon have been destroyed, PIXAL has been deleted, Lloyd is an old man, large chunks of land have been ripped out of the ground and are poised to fall back onto Ninjago, and Nya is dead. Those last two parts are most important for Jay, the only character with a wish remaining (if you ignore all the Ninja replacements, who never made wishes and conveniently left after the real Ninja returned). Thus, Jay makes his final wish: “I wish you had taken my hand, and no one ever found that teapot in the first place.”

After Jay makes his wish, time is reversed and the Ninja return to where they were in the first episode of the season. The paparazzi is about to find the Ninja and all of them but Nya use airjitzu to hide from the helicopters. Jay asks Nya to take his hand, which she originally rejected, on the basis that, “I can stick up for myself” and “I'm a ninja, and I'm nobody's girl.” However, after Jay’s final wish, Nya uses airjitzu, which she learned over the course of Skybound, and takes Jay’s hand.

While they remember the events of the season: 

“I remember! I remember it all!” – Nya, The Way Back

“Me too!” – Jay, The Way Back

They don’t care how they do:

“But how?” – Jay, The Way Back

“Who cares.” – Nya, The Way Back

I, on the other hand, do care, and that’s what this post will explain. The other Ninja experience some deja vu, but aside from a subtle reference to Skybound in season 8 and a mural depicting the events of the season, indicating that Master Wu (or at least the painters of the monastery) was told, only Jay and Nya actually remember what happened.* Functionally, Skybound is an alternate timeline that never occurred.

This is not the first time Ninjago has dealt with alternate timelines! In Season 2, the Ninja time travel to the past and create an alternate timeline where Nya is kidnapped later on by the Ninja disguised as skeletons, Lord Garmadon from the future fights Kai at the fire temple, and the Ninja use the golden weapons to send the Mega Weapon into space. This timeline is erased when the Mega Weapon is destroyed, with series creator Tommy Andreasen confirming that the only change that the alternate timeline left is that the Mega Weapon ended up in space – the pilots still happened as depicted in 2011. At the end of the episode, the original four ninja remember the events of the episode, along with Garmadon, Nya, and Wu, but not Lloyd, who was not present. Wrong Place, Wrong Time’s time travel is extremely confusing, largely because Lloyd doesn’t just not remember the time travel but also doesn’t remember the Mega Weapon at all.

If the logic of Wrong Place, Wrong Time holds, then only those present for Jay’s last wish should remember it.** That means Jay and Nadakhan, obviously, but also the rest of the Ninja, but crucially, not Nya, since she was dead at the time. Now, perhaps the rest of the Ninja don’t remember, since the wish was between just Jay and Nadakhan, but that still doesn’t explain why Nya remembers Skybound.

Now, perhaps you could explain Nya’s memory as Jay’s wish was about her – Jay wanted Nya to take his hand. And this would work, except that Jay’s wish was also about Clouse. While he’s not named directly, Nadakhan ensures Clouse never finds the Teapot of Tyrahn in the first place.*** Now, if Clouse had remembered Skybound since the wish was about him, then it would have been very straightforward – Clouse would remember that Nadakhan tricked him into wishing it all away and stopped searching for the teapot. Clouse is instead chased off by angry citizens of the Village of Stiix while still searching for the teapot. You could argue that Clouse remembered Skybound but was arrogant enough to keep searching, but there’s zero evidence of this, so while this theory isn’t necessarily wrong, I think there’s another, better explanation that covers why Nya remembers Skybound but Clouse didn’t (Clouse also never mentions this in the Dark Island Trilogy).

The most logical explanation why Nya remembers Skybound is, based on the rules of wishes established in Skybound, love. And no, I’m not talking about how Jay “wished from the heart” so Nya ended up remembering Skybound.**** I find it hard to believe that Jay’s true, heartfelt intention was to make sure that he and Nya remembered events that never occurred. Instead, let’s look at what Jay wanted. He wanted Nya to take his hand and Clouse to not find the teapot. The second half is easy, since Nadakhan is more than capable of altering the actions of others with his wishes – after Jay’s first wish, the mailman comes out of nowhere, and so does Nya after Jay’s second wish.

Theoretically, Nadakhan could override Nya’s free will and have her take Jay’s hand – except for two problems. First, on a metatextual level, this would run totally counter to Nya’s entire message in Skybound, as muddled as it is. Having Nya take Jay’s hand because of a wish would not only undermine the entire point of Jay’s growth over the season (Jay goes from saying “Maybe a wish is what it takes! Maybe this is how she falls for me” in Public Enemy Number One to asking Nya, “Well, what do you want?” in The Last Resort) but also utterly obliterate Nya’s agency, the exact thing she spent the season fighting for. Now, can Ninjago have totally contradictory messages? Of course! Skybound is a case study in mixed messaging on this very issue! But there’s a second, in-universe reason why Nadakhan can’t make Nya take Jay’s hand, and it’s not for the reason that Tommy Andreasen gives, which is that Nya is dead, and Nadakhan can’t control the dead. Nadakhan is more than capable of making dead people do things, since he literally brings Delara back to life earlier on, and he is capable of doing multiple things in one wish, by making Lloyd both older and wiser.

The reason is that you can’t wish for love! This is one of the first things Nadakhan says (“You can’t wish for love, death, or more wishes” – Nadakhan, Infamous). Nya makes it very clear that the reason she won't take Jay's hand is because she doesn’t, or refuses to, love Jay at the start of Skybound. Having her take Jay’s hand because of a wish would mean he wished for love.

However, right before Nya dies, after the whole plot of Skybound has happened, Nya does love Jay, so Nadakhan is not magically making Nya fall in love. Instead, Nya takes Jay’s hand of her own agency, but this can only happen because Nadakhan ensures that Nya remembers the events of Skybound, so that the love that was created naturally, not as a result of wishes, does not go away, and he fulfills Jay’s wish.

Thus, Jay remembers Skybound because he made the wish, Nya remembers Skybound because she needs to to love Jay to take his hand, and Clouse, the other Ninja, and the rest of Ninjago don’t remember it because it never happened.

Worst of the Worst

There were three unspoken rules in Ninjago high. Only three.

#1: Don't piss off Morro. #2: Don't piss of (y/n). #3: If you were dumb enough to brake either of the prior two rules... pray to the First Spinjitzu Master.

And guess what? Lloyd had already broken them all. And unfortunately, the First Spinjitzu Master wasn't on his side.

Honestly, Lloyd thought the worst thing in life was being born Lord Garmadon's son. No, that came second. The first was going to the same high school as your two biggest enemies.

Middle school had been bad already, getting scared glances from a few, and hateful glares from most. High school was almost the same, but instead of leaving it at the looks he received, it was much worse.

Lloyd didn't want to blame his mom, but she was the one who had deliberately hidden the fact (y/n) went to Ninjago High from Lloyd in hopes of getting the cousins a little closer. Unbeknownst to Koko, her plan had backfired, hard.

You're probably wondering, why are those the rules? Simple. The two owned the school. All of it.

Morro is easier to explain. He was your typical strong, mean, delinquent, who was strong enough to beat any of the students in a fight, and to even challenge him was like having a death wish.

And breaking the rules seemed to be his driving force. If the school had a dress code, Morro would have broken it just to piss the teachers off.

Then there was (y/n). He didn't throw punches, he didn't pick fights. But if he didn't like you, he had ways to make you suffer. Lloyd knew that better than anyone.

If (y/n) found a reason to, he could make you a nobody. A person whose name even the teachers would forget. In Lloyd's case (y/n) had been even worse.

And of course he was really popular too. To most he looked like an angel on earth. But to those who really knew him, he was a devil with a smile on his face.

Can it get any worse? Yes, yes, it can, because (y/n)'s influence wasn't only on the students, but the teachers as well, and even the adults outside of school adored him.

Together the two made high school for Lloyd like hell on earth. (y/n) made sure the rumors would keep moving through the school while Morro made sure Lloyd wouldn't do anything about it.

Only thing that brought the school any peace of mind was the fact the two didn't look for trouble. They weren't monsters, they didn't start a fight without reason.

That's why nobody defended you. They believed it was just karma getting to you.

Lloyd arrived to school on time, like a good student should. He greeted his friends, his only friends, the group a grade above his. Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane and Nya were the only ones who knew not to trust the rumors, and also had the gut to stand up for Lloyd. Well, because of that, even they were pretty much outsiders.

Then Lloyd walked to his locker, that was everything but clean, words that really shouldn't be tolerated in high school covering it. taking out his books when suddenly a hand slammed his locker door shut.

Lloyd didn't flinch, he knew it was coming.

"Lloyd! Good morning." (y/n) smiled his usual bright smile. Surprisingly, Morro wasn't with him.

"Morning..." Lloyd reluctantly said, and moved away, intending to head to class.

"Oh, don't go just yet." (y/n) said it a little louder, the people around them turned to stare, but (y/n) just waved to them and they went back to their own things.

"I have something important to talk about at lunch. Just for today, come sit at our table."

Morro's and (y/n)'s table. It was big enough for eight people, but no one had the right to sit with the two.

"Can't it wait?" Lloyd asked, glancing at the clock anxiously. Why hadn't is friends arrived yet?

"No, it can't." (y/n)'s shining smile faltered. "I won't take much of your time, it's such a simple matter."

"...Fine."

"Great!" (y/n) beamed, clapping his hands together before turning away.

"Chad!" He called, and suddenly, from the other side of the hallway, the captain of the cheer squad came running. Much like most students, he was one of (y/n)'s lap dogs. Listened to everything he said.

"Is Lloyd Garmadon bothering you again?" Chad asked as he glared at Lloyd.

"No, actually. But I know you have cheer training in a bit, but won't you clean Lloyd's locker for me?" Chad was stumped at (y/n)'s words.

"Clean his locker?" He spoke, as if confirming he heard right. "You want me to-"

"Yes I do." (y/n) cleared up. "I'm in such a hurry, I cannot possibly do it by myself!" He let out ever so dramatically.

"Uh..." Chad hesitated, but after looking at (y/n)'s fake smile a while longer, he gave in. "Of course, I'll do it!"

"Great, then I'll just get going." (y/n) said and turned to leave, before shooting Lloyd one more glance.

"I'll see you at lunch."

Lloyd was supposed to eat lunch with his friends, but still reluctantly went to sit at Morro's an (y/n)'s table. Everyone who noticed stared, looking at Lloyd like he'd gone mad.

His team was sitting at another table, looking a little worried. Lloyd had already told his crew about what had happened that morning, but they couldn't help but worry.

Morro and (y/n) arrived only a few minuted later, (y/n) sitting down opposite of Lloyd, while Morro sat down next to his boyfriend.

"Thank you for coming, cousin." For once (y/n) looked serious, like he actually had an important reason to talk to Lloyd like this. Lloyd had a hard time believing it.

Lloyd didn't want to, but he spoke up. "You made Chad clean my locker, so... What do you want?"

Morro kept quiet, just listening and watching as (y/n) handled everything. Lloyd knew Morro could easily beat him up if (y/n) gave him the word, or if he didn't. It was specifically (y/n)'s word that allowed Lloyd to even sit here right now without regretting it.

"Well, I don't usually do deals, but I was hoping you could help me with something."

Lloyd knew better than to let him continue, nothing that came from (y/n) or his boyfriend led to any good. But if he just said no, he could say goodbye to that freshly cleaned locker.

"Well," Lloyd muttered. "What is it?"

(y/n) leaned on his elbows and smiled. "You know our family dinner is this Saturday, right?"

"Unfortunately," Lloyd muttered.

The family dinner. Yep, it was another thing in Lloyd's list of 'The worst things in the world.'

Once a year, Wu and Koko organized a little gathering for their families to eat dinner and chat. Though they only knew each other because of Lloyd's dad, the adults still found it important for their families to get together and talk like a normal family. Without thinking about Garmadon's... misdoings.

Lloyd liked his uncle, Wu was not only one of his greatest supporters, but also his mentor. Unfortunately, he didn't believe a word Lloyd spoke about (y/n), Wu's son.

Even Koko loved (y/n). She knew the cousins didn't get along, but that was exactly why she liked the family dinners so much. A chance for Lloyd and (y/n) to talk. Yeah, Lloyd hated it. (y/n) meanwhile reveled in it.

"...What about it?" Lloyd continued warily.

(y/n)'s grin suddenly dropped. "I want you act like you like me."

Lloyd blinked. "Huh?"

"I mean it. None of that 'I'd rather be anywhere but here' attitude. No sulking, no glaring at me from across the table, and no words about our disputes here at school." (y/n) waved his hand as if it was all just a minor inconvenience. "Just behave."

Lloyd tilted his head. "Why?"

For a moment (y/n) seemed a little confused too. "Did Koko not tell you?" (y/n) asked, and Lloyd just looked at him with the 'tell me what?' look.

"Oh, so she didn't." (y/n) shrugged, then motioned to the boy sitting next to him. "I guess she forgot to mention it, Morro's coming this year."

Silence. Lloyd's brain short-circuited.

"Excuse me?!" He practically choked.

Morro smirked, leaning back while casually placing an arm over (y/n)'s shoulders. "Surprise, Garmadon."

As much of a disaster this was, Lloyd kinda wanted to laugh. "You can't be serious. You're bringing Morro and your telling me to behave?"

"Oh, I'm serious." (y/n) huffed. "I haven't introduced Morro to Wu either, so I thought, why not kill two birds with one stone and introduce him to the whole family?"

(y/n) took a breath, the continued. "Please."

Lloyd froze. Please. Either (y/n) was lying and this was an elaborate plan to kill Lloyd, or this was the end of the world.

Morro muttered darkly. "He's going to say no."

(y/n) lightly nudged Morro without turning his eyes away from Lloyd.

Lloyd didn't want to do this. He didn't want to be part of (y/n)'s games. But for once, (y/n) seemed... genuine.

"…Fine," Lloyd sighed. "I won't say a word."

(y/n) beamed. "That's the spirit! This year's dinner is gonna be so much fun."

"Okay, you can go now." He continued, waving for Lloyd to go away. "Shoo, shoo!"

Lloyd hated when he did that, but still stood up, took his lunch tray and went to his and his team's table to actually eat lunch.

Whether fortunately or unfortunately, Lloyd wasn't sure which, but the day of the family dinner came faster than expected.

Wu had come over first, greeting his nephew with a proud smile before turning to Koko to have a long winded conversation about Garmadon, as always.

Wu said that (y/n) had gone to Morro's place to get ready together, and that the two would join the dinner a little late.

As Koko ushered Wu to sit down, Lloyd helped set the last few bowls of food on the table. For starters Lloyd had helped prepare tiny meat buns, also they had fresh wok for the main course, and a neatly sliced cheese cake for dessert.

"Is it true this Morro is (y/n)'s partner?" Koko asked Wu.

"That much is obvious from the way he acts. But whatever the case, let's pressure him about the matter." Wu said as Koko hummed in understanding. Unlike Lloyd, she was excited that (y/n) was bringing someone along.

Then came the long awaited second knock at the door.

"Door's open! Please let yourselves in!"

Lloyd straightened up. He instinctively smoothed down his shirt and tried very hard not to look like he was bracing for impact.

The door creaked open, and out rang (y/n), voice. "Hi, Auntie Koko!" He let out, cheerful as always.

And after his call came a quieter, "Hello."

Koko beamed, rushing from the kitchen over to the door to greet them both. "There you are! You're dressed fancy as usual. And you must be Morro! It's so nice to meet you!"

Morro gave a short, polite nod. "It's good to meet you."

A minute of shedding warm overcoats later, the three walked into the he found his cousin grinning and Morro standing beside him, holding a box wrapped in a neat pink bow.

"We brought these," (y/n) said, lifting the box. "I made some pistachio macarons."

Koko lit up. "How thoughtful! I'll heat them up right now, you darlings just sit yourselves down at the table and wait."

"Alright, thank you Koko." (y/n) smiled, then took Morro's hand and guided him to the small dinner table. (y/n) sat Morro down opposite of Lloyd, then sat down next to his boyfriend. And of course, (y/n) gave Lloyd a smile that Lloyd couldn't return, because Wu had already spoke up.

"Morro, is it?" Wu, sitting at the end of the table, right by Lloyd and Morro.

"Yes, sir." Morro answered. His voice was low in a way that freaked Lloyd out, because it kind of sounded like Morro was... nervous.

"Oh, no need for that. Really, no one calls me sir." Wu said, then offered his hand to Morro. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine, sir."

Lloyd blinked. Wow, Morro's actually behaving.

Wu squinted at the sir part, right as (y/n) leaned forward, placing a calming hand on Morro's shoulder.

"He's a bit nervous, dad." (y/n) spoke as Wu nodded.

"No need to be, you are among family." Morro nodded at the words.

They ate while making small talk of all kinds. From introducing Morro to how things were at school (which was effortlessly lied through), to the food and small topics like movies, music, art and everything else.

And surprisingly, Lloyd found out something new.

"Excuse me, I have to use the restroom." (y/n) said at one point. Immediately after, Morro tensed.

"Go ahead, I put a green towel ready for you and Morro. It's on the counter, you'll see it." Koko called as (y/n) stood up from the table.

His hand dragged on Morro's shoulders, and he whispered something into his boyfriend's ear, then finally went to the restroom.

Immediately, the adults' eyes were on Morro.

"So," Wu started, Lloyd had a strong gut feeling he should be worried. "How do you know my son? School?"

"Uh- uh... Yes." As he answered, Morro spared a doubtful glance at Lloyd. "We are in the same class."

"So you met in class?" Koko asked a follow-up question from her seat next to Lloyd.

"...No." Morro shook his head. "We were in different classes during our first year."

There was a silence, everyone was expecting Morro to continue. The boy looked a little tense, but did so anyway.

"I, uh, got into a bit of trouble," A fight, Lloyd realized. He didn't know Morro had done that even during his own first year. "I ended up getting a bit roughed up."

Lloyd blinked. Every time Morro fought, he escaped unscathed, a bruise or two at most. Wu listened intently, Koko gave Morro an empathetic look.

"(y/n) found me in the library. He patched me up, even though I told him not to." Morro looked down, not even looking at Lloyd now. "That somehow became a habit for us, and things just... happened."

Lloyd stared at Morro. For the first time in Lloyd's life, seemed more like a human than a devil sent from hell.

Before anyone could say anything, (y/n) returned from his restroom trip.

"Why so quiet, everyone?" (y/n) questioned. "Did Lloyd do something?"

"Wha- don't just assume that!" Lloyd let out.

Racing around every room was not how you wanted to spend your free day, turning each room you entered upside down in a desperate search,

“Where is it!?” you frantically flip over the gaming rooms couch haphazardly. “Woah (y/n)? what’s wrong?” Lloyd follows your frantic movements as you pass him, 

He stares at you as you finally pause debating your next move as you swivel your head left from right. “Are you looking for something?” Lloyd peaks his head over your shoulder looking down to try and make sense of your change in behavior. 

Your hands grow clammy as you rub your index and thumb together, a soft whine leaves your closed mouth, brows arching upward with concern. 

Lloyd has honestly never seen you like this, “do you want me to ge-“ before Lloyd could finish you gasp racing outside in a hurry. Using this time to answer his own question Lloyd goes to retrieve your boyfriend in hopes of calming you down.

“N-no Riyu, please let it go!” you were involuntarily playing tug-o-war with your comfort doll. With building anxiety, you give in partially to Riyus tug after hearing fearful rips.

“P-please Riyu this is not a toy!” tears begin to bubble as the baby dragon shakes his head playfully, much like a puppy. He was slow to making the connection of the sentimental value of the toy. 

The display brought many eyes as Lloyd comes out with Kai, at sudden realization Kai sucks in air through his teeth cringing at a predicted site.

You fall back on your butt with an oof, the torn half of your stuffed doll in hand the other on the ground now forgotten by the dragon who pranced over to Arin. It takes a moment for you to process what had happened, to the others it was like waiting for the jump scare in a horror movie. All were at the edge of their seats for what would happen.

Coming to action you jump up and quickly grab the other end of your toy and raced back inside pushing aside anybody that was in the way,

“What’s wrong with (y/n)?” Sora picks up Riyu tilting her head as Arin looked concerned as well. Kai makes no effort in explaining as he runs after you, Jay rubs the back of his head anxiously as he ponders on how to explain your dilemma. “Well, that doll Riyu had is important to (y/n), she’s had it for years...” Jay looks to where you ran off as Cole nods, “I always seen it in her room she’s so protective of it” Cole crosses his arms as Zane even agrees. “I have recalled her once saying that it was special to her, however I do not understand how an object could hold so much sentimental value.” Zane tilts his head as he ponders. Sora shakes her head, “no way I completely get it! Poor (y/n) I feel horrible..” Arin looks down guiltily as well, “I should’ve been watching Riyu..” Lloyd shakes his head, “what’s done is done, I’m sure (y/n) will be oki.. Kai will make sure of it” Lloyd walks over to pat Sora and Arin on the head a small comfort.

Kai walks over to your door hearing objects being harshly knocked down, you were looking for something again. Opening the door, he finds you with a box, it was old and had a few holes, it was an old sewing kit that master Wu gave you way back to when you first joined the ninjas, your hands shake as you search around for what he can assume a needle and thread. “(y/n)..” Kai’s voice was drowned by the jostling of items being moved in the box as you lift your hands to a needle and very small piece of thread. Not enough to fix your doll, 

Kai’s mouth shifts as he watches you try and shakily push the thread through the eye of the needle, however as one would guess it wouldn’t be easy with the state that you’re in. 

“(y/n)..- (y/n) that’s not gonna work” Kai walks over to take the needle and thread, as if he had threatened you Kai catches the meanest glare from you. “Don’t touch me.” Your words were sharp almost cutting Kai, he knew how you could get with this doll, but it never got this bad…

“(y/n), just lemme help you..” Kai goes to try and take your hand in a way to calm you down, “I don’t need your help, just leave me alone” you rise to your feet storming out of your room with your broken doll passing concerned faces you leave.

Tears fell down your face as you hiccupped hiding your face in your sleeves you turn into a old building, it was deserted of customers grabbing materials you needed you place onto the counter startling the cashier with your sudden appearance.

“Is (y/n) still not back?” master Wu sits with the cup of tea in his hands as Kai paces running his hands through his spiked hair, “no, she completely stormed out.. and it’s been hours now” Kai slumps on the couch defeated. “She totally freaked out, I shouldn’t have reached to her so suddenly I know how she gets with that doll” “it’s important to her” “I know, but doesn’t she know she has me?” “Does she?” the back and forth between the young adult and the old man came to a stop as Kai leans his head back against the couch. 

Kai has always been there supporting you, however that doll had always seemed closer, it was dumb of him to admit but at times he was jealous of how much more it seemed you cared about the doll than your own boyfriend.

Of course this was all in his head, you have always been affectionate with him, however not as much open. For years it seemed as though you struggled to talk about your feelings, instead you had the routine of shutting yourself in your room hugging your doll close to your body. Instead of confronting you, Kai seemed to let you wallow, assuming it was the way of how you cope not wanting to step over boundaries.

Kai sighs as he leans up standing off the couch and grabbing his jacket, sensei opened his eye peaking at the man who was leaving to find you. 

Your hair was soaked from rainwater your clothes no different as you walked inside, a bag of sewing supplies in your hands as you looked defeated and tired. 

(Y/n) had just walked through the door before I could walk out to find her, she was completely drenched “(y/n)..” Kai calls to her with worry as he grabs her hand, (y/n) could feel his hand slowly start to warm hers. Wanting to say so much Kai said nothing in the moment of both of you finally coming back together, so he said the only thing that made sense to the moment, 

“Hey, let’s get you warm and outta’ those clothes”

A fuzzy towel laid on your head with fresh pair of pajamas, sitting beside Kai in silence. Your outburst was the only thing on your mind, your hands in your lap as your stare down at the floor hearing Kai hum as he sews your doll back together. Guilty wasn’t appropriate to describe how you felt, ashamed maybe.. embarrassed. Sorry didn’t feel enough for Kai. But what else could you say..

“K-“

“(y/-“

You both stop as you stare at each other, “s-sorry, you go.” Kai fiddles with the string as he directs his attention to you, “Kai, I’m so sorry for yelling at you, you didn’t deserve that. I got so scared of losing this doll that I let my emotions get the better of me..” you look to Kai before falling your gaze to the floor again.

“No, this is important to you, (y/n)”

“But you’re more important than that silly doll!” the desperation in your voice brought a new mood in the atmosphere. “that doll, I had it for so long, it’s been with me through a lot of tough times.. sometimes it felt like the only thing.” You stare down at the doll before continuing, “I always seemed to lose the people important to me. That doll was the thing that stayed..” Kai looks down at the doll rubbing its stitched body with his thumb.

“When I joined you guys, I found a new family, and when we started dating… I began to worry more, what if I lose you.. The more people a meet and care about the more I feel I might lose them.” The lump in your thrust seemed to refuse to move no matter how much you tried and swallow it down, “the closer we got the more scared I became.. These missions aren’t getting easier, they never are, so seeing you get in trouble kinda makes me revert to the one thing I know I can’t lose. But after today, I know that losing anything and everything possible..”

You take a breath as you sat everything on the table, your heart on your sleeve. You never been so vulnerable, but you knew Kai deserved to know what was on your mind, your grip tightened feeling your nails pierce the skin of your palm as you wait anxiously for anything.

Kai places your doll in your lap now fixed, looking up Kai smiles, “(y/n), thank you for telling me what’s been on your mind.. I want you to know, I’m your boyfriend I want you to share everything that you’re feeling so that I can help you, even if I can’t.. I don’t want you to feel like you’re handling this on your own.”

“But you’re right, anything can happen to me, but that will never stop me from being by your side. Even when it feels like I’m not I’ll find a way to hold you as if I were.” Kai tilts his head catching a glimpse of tears bubbling in your eyes, he chuckles as he pats your head rubbing it affectionately before pulling you into his chest. “I love you, (y/n), nothings gonna stop me from loving you,” Kai chuckles as he rubs your back, “sorry to say but your stuck with me, from this life and the next..” hearing you giggles muffled into his jacket Kai’s smile widens. “I want you to talk to me and lean on me, (y/n) that’s what I’m here for, oki?” Kai turns his view to the back of your head as you nod, “oki, I love you Kai..” you sniffle as your grip tightens on his jacket as if he would slip away from you.

“No need to hold on so tight babe, ‘m not going anywhere.” Kai rubs your back as you shift your body closer into his, your breathing turns even as you let out one last shaky breath. Pushing your body forward with your knees you lay on top of Kai whose head meets your pillow. He grins as he runs his hand a top of your head, quiet snores leave your slightly open mouth as Kai watches your body rise and fall.

Looking down Kai finds your doll on the floor, every night it would be him, you, and your comfort doll. But tonight, it was you and him,

And that is how he will keep it for as long as he can.

What all the ninja's normal jobs?

Ohh I love this part I had sooo much fun making this !

Lloyd is an employee at Doomsday Comix (the comics book shop in s2 where he uses tomorrow's tea). It was actually quite hard to find a job since he's literally Lord Garmadon's son, the grandson of the equivalent of God and his oni/dragon traits are hard to hide, but Rufas (the comics shop owner) knows Lloyd since he's a kid, knows his background and his history so he knows Lloyd just wants a peaceful job. Plus it allows Lloyd to read all the comics before anyone else and usually, people hanging out at Doomsday Comix are chill about his oni traits, most of them think it's a cosplay or just dgaf.

Kai is a firefighter. I think it fits very well with his character bc 1) the fire part and 2) the rescue part. Of course, Kai has a natural affinity with fire. He will not be the kind of firefighter who will set off the fire but the kind who will enter the house to save everybody inside when his colleagues set off the fire. Plus, firefighters do not only work with fire, they're also called in emergency situations like an accident, etc, so critical situations, and we all know Kai is a natural protector and caretaker, so it would definitely fit (plus he definitely has a savior complex). And it's a job that requires very good physical aptitudes, and he's good at that.

Nya, to nobody's surprise, is a mechanic in a garage, her own garage. She usually fixes cars and bikes, but she can also fix literally whatever you bring her, from your tv remote to a whole ass truck. Whatever you bring, she fixes it, and she can even give it some ameliorations. She also has a driver's license for every type of vehicle. If she had the proper education, she could have been a brilliant engineer, but she couldn't study very long so she works on her things by herself, with the help of Jay and Pixal.

Jay doesn't really care about his job. He can do whatever doesn't need too much investment and effort and leaves him the time to live outside. After the Merge, he worked a moment in administrative services, but it took too much time, then he worked in a theater, and another job, etc. Right now he works at Lobbo's Totally Rad Arcade. He mainly does maintenance work, even if sometimes he's given the administrative work 'cause he's good at it and he can use his powers whenever he needs too and people won't question it. It's mainly a chill job and sometimes he can play videogames too. Plus, it gives him the time to have life, to work with Nya and to be a ninja.

Cole is a teacher in kindergarten. I mean, do I have to explain ? He's so good with kids, ofc he would work with them. He's every kid's favorite teacher because he's so nice and his presence is reassuring (he's very impressive at first sight with his build, but also very nice, kids feel safe with him). The downside is the kid's parents, sometimes they can be a little too much, but usually he understands, being a father of 3. He has a lot of fun in his job and on the other side his life is stable, so Cole is fine 👍 (unlike some)

Zane is a vet. He works in a zoo, especially with birds. I think it fits. He always understood animals better than humans (autism icon), and he's literally built to protect others. Nevertheless, since the Merge, his job does not limit to the zoo, he learned to heal dragons and other new creatures too. Btw, he cooks the animal's meal himself and the animals have never been so healthy. (In parallel, Zane also has Echo's custody)

Pixal is a cop, but not any cop. She understands why there are rules, but she won't follow them if she thinks they're unfair. She's the kind of cop in shows who gets their license taken away at some point because they can't follow orders. But unlike them, Pixal always does it for a good reason and she always makes sure nobody is hurt in the process. She also has the highest solved cases of the whole Ninjago City police, and she's also Samurai X, which is a semi-public identity (it's not explicitly said she's Samurai X but it's not hidden at all), one of the two inheritors of Borg Enterprises, along with her twin brother Cryptor and she sometimes helps Jay and Nya on their projects.

Awakenings

Kai sat in the living room watching Cole play video games while drinking from his weird juice contraption, this was the life. Sitting next to his loving partner, he couldn't believe it took them so long to confess to one another, let alone figure out he was bisexual. It was a rollercoaster, but now they were going onto their 5 years. After believing Cole had fallen to his demise, the feelings Kai had felt, the need to turn back despite having dozens of innocents on the bounty, despite knowing there was grave danger behinds them, he wanted to turn back. For him, for his best friend, for someone he cared for...that's when he realized. 

"What are you staring at?" Cole said with a small smirk as he kept pushing buttons on his gaming controller.

"Oh just....thinking about how far we have come Y'know?" Kai smiled.

Cole smiled and gave a small nod, before turning back to his video game and playing. "Why don't you join?" he asked waving over a controller. "Hm? Oh sure!" he smirked grabbing the controller, "I'm totally gonna beat you this time!" Kai quickly connected his controller and began to play. Kai and Cole began to play, pinning their characters against each other, making small bets about who would win, about what the other would do once they lost. They spent hours playing, until Nya walked over.

"Have you guys seen Lloyd? I wanted to spar with him but I can't find him." "I'm pretty sure he's with Wu, someone about crows?" Cole said not really paying attention on the conversation, his eyes staying on the screen. Nya rolled her eyes unamused by Cole's attention on his games, she walked back to continue her search for Lloyd, eventually seeing him taking scrolls into Wu's room. As she went to follow, Jay grabbed her by her hand and gently spun her into a dip. Nya looked up at Jay with a small smile, wondering what was up with him. Jay smiled brightly, his blue eyes full of affection, he was just happy to be with her. "I'll just leave these here, Cool?" They could hear Lloyd through the door, probably talking to Master Wu. "Okay....Nice talk, call me if you uh, need anything else" "Lloyd, my student, my nephew. I hope you do a better job than I have when you become master of this monastery..." Wu responded after a few moments of silence. Jay and Nya, believing this was a more private conversation, walked away from the door and headed outside, and saw the others were outside as well.  "Why is everyone out here?.." Jay asked. "The power went out in the middle of our game, Cole went to go fix it but then he found Zane out here...apparently Zane detected strange weather..." Kai explained. "Strange weather...?" Nya looked up and saw the sky wasn't blue, or even sunset orange, it was greyish purple.

The air even felt unnatural. The earth began to shake, violently, making the ninja loose their balance for a second before reigning their footing. Lloyd and Master Wu ran out of the doors to the monastery, they too had felt the shake and had come to see what was going on. But Wu, he didn't look confused, he looked afraid, almost like he knew what was causing it, and would be the outcome. The sky began to shatter, splitting open, the eyes of the universe staring at them. The ninja stare at the chaos unfolding around them, the world tearing itself apart. Things began to float, the winds roared, almost like Ninjago was screaming in pain from being broken. Lloyd saw the bounty begging to be pulled by the wind, he made a run for it and took the wheel to try and keep the bounty docked to the monastery. The others saw and followed Lloyd into action, pulling up their masks and jumping onto the bounty to try and weight it down. Kai grunted as he jumped up and down trying to help weight it down, but when he looked up he saw civilians being forced off the ground, pulled into the sky and towards the tears of the universe. They were vulnerable, no one knew what would happen once they went in there, he had to help. "GUYS! THE CITIZENS!!" he shouted, but no one moved..."GUYS!?" he tried to get their attention. His ears began to ring, his vision blurred, the winds began to sound muffles, the screams. Everyone slowed down...the world slowed... "Gᵤᵧₛ?" he muttered, his voice sounded drowned, almost like he was underwater. Then everything went black. Everything was black, the walls, the floor and ceiling, there was nothing. Just Kai. Standing there frozen, where was he? What is this place? 

Slowly Kai opened his eyes, being greeted by the shades of grey he had become accustomed to over the last few days, he laid there for a few minutes, taking in the fact he once again got that dream, the day it happened. The day his whole life was changed, he had no idea what that was, the world splitting event. It wasn't anything he knew, anything he had seen before. Pushing himself into a sitting position, he grabbed his bag and made sure nothing was taken or eaten while he was sleeping. He couldn't risk loosing a single thing, especially not when he had no idea how much longer he would be in this world, or if there was food to be found this day.

"How much longer.." Kai grumbled as he took out his water bottle, taking a few sips, his voice had began to get rougher from the lack of liquid. But Kai had no choice, he couldn't risk drinking anything from this place, he had to conserve every last drop of water. 

With a small groan Kai got back to his feet, putting on a straw hat to cover his face. It was the only thing that felt familiar anymore, the straw hat resembled Wu's iconic one. Of course he had made it himself so it wasn't exactly the same. Kai began to walk through the lands, his hand always holding onto the tsuka of his katana, danger was at every corner. Kai had to continue.

Soooooo I made a fanfic but like this is my very first fic ever, idk I just had this fic like stuck in my head for days so I wanted to post it. If anyone has any tips pls feel free to share them 😔🙏 and compliments 😭🤞 also advice for how to do a good ending cause I suck at those lmao

Today was Valentines Day, and luckily for the ninja, there was no big bad guy to face.

Sora had felt the monastery practically empty. Zane and Pixal were working on new vehicles down in the hangerbay. Usually Sora would join them, but it felt wrong to intrude on their dancing like process. Nya and Jay were making up for all the lost time.

After Jay recovered his memory they’ve been out and about doing anything that can together, and today was no different. Wyldfyre, who was accompanied by Kai, went to the City of Temples to spend the day with Roby. Cole went to the Land of Lost things to be with Geo and the finders.

So in the end it was just Sora, Arin, Frak and Lloyd without someone to spend Valentines with. Atleast that’s what she had thought.

Sora walks towards the kitchen sniffing the air smelling delicious pies. When she enters she sees Arin and Frak both taking out their pies from the oven.

“Yum, fresh pies. Are these meant for Valentines?” Sora asks, seeing the multiple pies layed out on the counters.

“Yup, we thought it would be nice to give the couples a sweet treat for this special day” Frak explained, putting his pie with the rest.

“We made enough for them, but we’ve sadly ran out of supplies for the rest of us and Ryu” Arin said scratching the back of his neck with his free hand.Sora chuckled slightly thinking about how Ryu always needs his own batch.

Just as Frak was going to say something, Lloyd walks into the kitchen. He in clothing that isn’t his green gi. Instead he has on flowing jeans and a nice dress shirt. “Oh wow! That’s a lot of pies.”

“Yup! We thought it would be a nice gift for Valentine’s Day.” Arin explained.

“That is nice.” Lloyd said slightly nodding his head. Putting his hands on his hips he says, “Well I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m going out, so I’ll see you guys later.”

“Oh! Where are you going?” Frak questioned.

“Down to the crossroads to-“ Lloyd started to say before being interrupted by Frak.

“Oh that’s perfect, we need to get more baking supplies! We can tag along.”

“Oh well uh- I’m goin-“

“Yea! Then maybe we can find something for the four of us to do together, since we’re the only ones without someone to spend the day with” Sora exclaimed excitedly, it was getting kind of boring in the monastery. “Come on let’s go get Ryu too.”

Surely after that, the three of the new ninja started to leave the pie filled kitchen.

Sora could have sworn she heard Lloyd sigh a bit before he followed the young ninja out to the front door.

When they made it to the crossroads, they realized that going to each individual store was going to take a while. So they decided to split up.

“I’ll get the sugars and cinnamon.” Arin offered. Ryu roared, ‘I’ll go with him.’

“Okay,” Frak nodded, “then I’ll get the berries.”

Sora raised an eyebrow, “Why don’t we just go to one store for all of that?”

“Because we have certain types of ingredients we like, and we are loyal customers, so multiple stores it is!”

“Alright then, let’s do this!” Arin exclaimed, putting a fist onto his palm.

“Guys-“ Right after, they all ran their separate ways, as if a race had just begun.

Throughout that whole conversation, Lloyd still wasn’t able to get a word in. Leaving him there by himself.

“So, what should we do first?” Frak asked.

Sora thought before responding, “Hm. I don’t know yet, we can look around, but maybe we should find Lloyd first.” They had agreed to meet back where they had separated in an hour, but Lloyd never came back.

“Do any of you guys know where he could’ve gone?” Arin said looking around the crossroad, trying to find the blond. Ryu gave a tiny roar in response, ‘nope’.

Then, just as he did earlier, Lloyd appeared out of nowhere. They saw him coming from the corner they were going towards. Though this time he wasn’t alone. Beside him was a guy who was taller then him, maybe a head or so. Though he was smaller then him in muscle mass. He was wearing black jeans, a white shirt and a dark blue colored vest.

The young ninja and dragon all stopped and starred where they were. What they saw was their teacher holding hands with this said man and carrying a huge bouquet of flowers. Now Sora doesnt know much about flowers or plants, but she could tell that the flowers were arranged correctly. They didn’t seem to clash with their different colors or shapes.

It’s kind of beautiful, Sora thought starring at the bouquet.

It’s took a while for Lloyd to notice them, seeming to be solely focused on the man beside him, who was taking about something. But when he did, he stopped in his tracks, shocked expression on his face. “Oh, hi guys..- I was just coming back.”

It was Arin who answered him after a bit of silence, “Well when you weren’t at our meeting spot we decided to go look for you.”

“Oh yea, sorry about that, but I had to pick up Brad from his flower shop.” So that’s his name, Sora thought, that would also explain the flowers.

“Oh.. does he need escorting home..orrr?” Frak said slowly, unsure of what was going on.

Brad smiled at Lloyd before looking back at the ninja, “No I don’t need to be escorted home.” His voice wasn’t deep but it also wasn’t overly high, just a good mix in between.

Lloyd smiled, shaking his head slightly. “No, he doesn’t. It’s just that we have a date, so I had to go get him from his shop.” He started to explain, “I was going back right now to tell you guys that you could go on without me.”

And the group just..stood there, not expecting Lloyd to tell them that he had a date. They don’t even think it was ever mentioned that he had a boyfriend.

“Um…were you gonna tell us that you have a boyfriend!?” Sora asked, clearly not expecting this out of the day.

“Well I was trying to, today actually, but I could never get a full sentence out.” Lloyd replied, a teasing tone in his voice.

Ah..oops. The three ninja awkwardly apologized for that.

“Anyways, Brad these are my students I told you about.” Letting go of Brads hand, he pointed at Frak and went down a line from his left, “This is Frak, Sora, Arin and Ryu.” Lloyd introduced.

“Nice to meet you guys, I’ve heard good things about you all.”

Sora could tell that he was nervous, he was constantly looking back at Lloyd and he looked at them but not in their eyes when he spoke.

“Nice to meet you too!” Arin said, putting his hand out for Brad. He stepped forward taking Arin’s hand in his own, shaking it.

Though Sora kinda wished he didn’t offer him his hand, because it was way too awkward afterwards.

Luckily Ryu saved the moment by walking up to Lloyd and sniffing the flowers. He snickered, showing Ryu the flowers better.

“Aren’t they pretty?” To which Ryu responded with a cheerful roar. “Well, as much as I would love to spend time with you guys, I’ve already made plans for today.” Lloyd said, giving them a small smile.

“Oh yea-,” Sora said, “then we’ll see you back at the monastery later..or tomorrow?”

He gave back a nod, “Most likely tomorrow.”

“Alright then, we’ll leave you guys to your date” Frak said, waving goodbye as he turned around starting to leave, Arin and Sora close behind.

“Yup! And we will make sure to make you guys a pie too!” Arin said, waving behind his shoulder.

Ryu gave a little roar as his goodbye, then trotted to catch up with his friends.

As Sora looked back to see if Ryu had caught up with them, she saw the couple turning around to walk the opposite way. It was weird seeing her teacher with such a soft expression.

Sure, shes seen a similar expression when he’s with his siblings, but this one was different. With this one his eyes were droopy, his face wasn’t tensed up anymore and his smile was so genuine it was kinda sickening. Though she could just be saying that because she’s lonely, but that’s not the point!

Brad either didnt notice Lloyds love-stuck face or he was used to it. Sora could tell he was saying something that was making Lloyd laugh by the was his shoulders moved.

“Y’know, I don’t think I ever thought Lloyd was going to get with someone…” Now Sora doesn’t agree with most of what Frak says, but she agreed with this. “Yea, I expected him to find it hard to find somebody.”

“What, why?” Arin raised an eyebrow confused by what they meant. Why would it be hard for Lloyd to get a boyfriend?

“Uhh because he’s the green ninja?” Frak said it like if it was obvious.

“So?”

“Soooo people might try to use him or even maybe try to hurt him.”

“Oh..yea, I guess so huh.”

Sora could hear the uneasiness in his voice. Which she understands, but sadly that’s how it was. There are always some one who is like that. She just hopes that Brad isn’t one of those people.

She said her thought out loud. ”Lets just hope that who he’s with now isn’t one of those people.”

“True, but let’s not judge him so quickly,” Arin says, “We’ve only just met him.”

Ryu have a happy roar, ‘He seems good to me’

“I don’t think I’m ever going to get used to talking to a ninja.” Brad said, the tension in his body fading away.

“Pfft- they weren’t even the ninja that are my brothers and sister!” Lloyd said, laughing at him.

“Yea, but their still ninja! Aka ninja that live with those ninjas.”

“That doesn’t mean their going to act the same way as them.” Lloyd went closer grabbing his hand again.

“Yea but even though their younger then me, it’s scary knowing they could beat me up.” Brad whined, throwing his head back and dragging his other hand down is face. “Embarrassing even…”

Lloyd stopped walking and dragged Brad closer. Making sure that they weren’t in anybody’s line of sight, he put his free hand onto the back of Brads neck, pulling his face close to his.

“Trust me, your fine, they aren’t going to go all protective mode like the others did.” Lloyd couldn’t help the smile that was growing on his face.

Brad looked at him annoyed while putting his hands on his waist. “You know how much being around the ninja makes me nervous!-“

“Why? Their not going to hurt you.”

“Yea? Well I’m sure Kai would like to prove you wrong.” Lloyd rolled his eyes playfully.

“They only joke around, and anyway, they won’t be able to get to you if I’m here,” he dragged his hand up to Brads cheek, pulling him down completely to close the gap, kissing him softly.

“Mhm?” Brad mumbled.

“Mhm.” Lloyd responded, smiling softly in the kiss.

And that’s how they stayed for a while. With both of their heads tilted and their bodies almost touching, would it have not been for the flowers between them.

One of Brad’s hands on Lloyd’s waist, the other on his neck. Lloyd’s hand had dropped back down to his boyfriend’s neck, his other hand still holding the flowers.

Lloyd was the first to pull apart. “We should get going or we’re gonna be late.” He reminded Brad. “Plus we don’t want someone walking by and seeing us.”

“Hm. True. Can we continue later?” Even though his puppy eyes were horrible, he still fell for them every time.

Chuckling, Lloyd gave in, “Yes, we can. We have all night, remember?”

“Yup.” If Sora had thought Lloyd’s love-sick face was bad, she would have changed it if she saw Brads. “Alright let’s get going!”

They walked out of their little hiding spot, once again holding each other’s hands, walking down the path to their reservation.

“Now which flower were you at?” Lloyd loved hearing Brad talk about his knowledge of flowers, how he always made sure the ones he picked had a special meaning. It always makes Lloyd himself feel special and loved.

He truly was grateful for the villain-free day, finally giving him time for his relationship.

OKAYAY UHMM FIRST

Episode one:

It starts off with the ad that prompts reading that the male ninjas do. Straight up filming anyways despite her not being on set/present. Nya arrives, Dareth became a sexist, but no worries! 2 out of 5 ninjas put him in his place. Fairly horribly ngl “Our powers come from not one being more important than the other” Lloyd, hon, he wasn’t shunning Nya because he doesn’t like water, but because she’s a woman. HE ISNT EVEN HIDING IT. Oh, but I guess that can alll be forgiven since they’re the new face of Teen Idol (a magazine). Who cares that it’s all lies about the love triangle STILL being around and Lloyd becoming a sensei

Then there’s a montage showing the ninjas hiding from fangirls and fanboys (let’s be honest, unfortunately, fangirls) and interviews often people.

Reasons why every ninja is loved, based on those:

- Lloyd: He’s the best (also, comes from an elementary (most likely) student)

-Kai: So hot. Literally. (Comes from a woman probably in her early/mid 20s)

- Jay: So funny. And cute. (Comes from a woman probably in her early/mid 20s)

-Cole: Ghost. Want him, but can’t have him (comes from a woman probably in her 20s) (also a gay reference. It’s said a lot that women are drawn to gay men since they love what they can’t get (which is ridiculous and sexist, but is something that is said a lot)

Nya: Isn’t liked. “Meh”

Zane: Cool. (By an elementary student wearing KAI’s merch!!)

Then there’s that one interview. The interviewer gets close to Nya to ‘whisper’ “Just between you and me, Nya. Jay or Cole?” Then Nya starts her answer with HONESTLY, which should’ve made him back the f train off, but he pushes it, wanting to get an answer even if it’s false. Thankfully, she denies answering a specific reply and tries to change the subject. Then they zoomed into Jay’s uncomfortable face. Obviously a talk about who she prefers is going to make him uncomfortable whether he has or doesn’t have a crush on her, since they used to be in a relationship. But of course they take it as a confirmation that he’s still into her. Which fairly, he is.

Then back to interviews on the street.

Now we’re on the bounty with Wu and Cole, and Wu helps Cole discover a new ability. To disappear! A very cute moment between the two that I love

Then Nya is kicking ice cream (I think, not important) while ranting to herself about all the ways Dareth wronged her by being sexist as she absolutely destroys (not literally) the training robots

Zane wins for the 100th time in Mini-droid chess and Cole comes to make it worse for Jay. Cole brings up the tomb of the FSM and what he saw- err… didn’t see. He explains that that is because he can disappear. Jay tells him to buzz off and he goes away. Zane’s worries of Jay keeping what he saw in the FSM’s tomb secret are confirmed. Jay says he was fine with his love staying unrequited, until he got a confirmation that they were meant to be after all and that now them as a couple is all he thinks about.

Then Nya vents to Misako, and Misako tries her best, but does not excel in this whatsoever (in my opinion, at least)

Then Nya attacks Jay and Zane for staring at her, ‘proving’ Jays point that she hates him. Then Zane wins for the 101th time to 0. Lloyd comes and calls them for a ninja emergency meeting, where Wu informs the team of Clause’s return.

Things to fix (for my fanfiction):

Dareth’s sudden misogynistic arc?

Finding a different reason that doesn’t includes ruining Dareth’s character for Nya to not be on set

The reason why Cole couldn’t see his reflection in the FSM’s tomb

Dear lord, I need to fix Misako’s talk with Nya.

Little notes for myself:

Have Kai message Nya where is she before pressure into starting to film the reading ad

Dareth may be delusional, and it is in character for him to be ignorant (well, a little), but I fully believe that once explained, he’ll drop the sexist actions. WHICH IS WHY I HATE THAT IT DIDNT HAPPEN. So it will happen! Since it’s not relevant to the plot for him to stay sexist

Don’t make Kai’s “important? No. Irresistible? Uh, Debatable” In the middle of explaining Dareth, a man in his 30s, what misogyny is

Give Kai’s fan a little bit of dignity

Change the seating plans of the interview “Jay or Cole?”. It’s always bothered me so much that they are so into this Nya/Jay , Nya/Cole stuff and didn’t have her sit in between them? Idk why it bothers me so much, but it’s not that big of a deal so I’m changing it

How would Wu know of ghosts’ abilities? I’m guessing he read about it specifically for Cole

It’s completely normal for Nya to not want to host girly shows/sequels, but a good excuse for it that I love is that she simply doesn’t know how to put on makeup, cook, etc

Secret Santa

Ninjas, Misako, Garmadon and Wu play secret Santa. (At the end you have who got who if you want to watch it right away!!)

"This is a game where we all draw names from slips of paper, and then each person buys a small gift for the one they picked," Cole explained.

"And it's called Secret Santa!" Lloyd proudly completed the thought.

"Why?" Sensei Garmadon frowned.

"Like Santa Claus," Lloyd lamented.

"And you want Misako, Garmadon, and me to play this with you?" Wu looked at them in surprise.

"Yes!" Jay exclaimed.

"Isn't that a bit strange?" Misako asked, but Jay interrupted her.

"But it's fun! The more people, the better."

"No one is allowed to reveal who they drew, Nya pointed out.

"Unless they need help, but that person can't know," Lloyd corrected her.

"And no swapping," Nya added.

"If we all understand, let's start drawing names," Pixal announced as she stood up, took the box, and handed it to everyone to draw. For a while, they stood in silence as everyone drew their slips of paper.

"So, do we put these under the christmas tree?" Misako asked.

"I propose we exchange them before Christmas dinner," Nya suggested, and everyone nodded in agreement.

"Misako, who did you get?" Sensei Garmadon asked her when they entered the living room.

"I can't tell you..." Misako smiled softly.

"You must!" Sensei Garmadon insisted.

"But the rules..." Misako reminded him.

"I need help," Garmadon said desperately. "I got Nya, and I have no idea what to get a teenager girl... Please, can we switch?"

Misako contemplated this and nodded. "Then you take Wu, and I'll take Nya."

"Wu!" Sensei Garmadon sighed with relief and suddenly hugged Misako. "Thank you, thank you, this will be perfect!"

"Ughg..." Kai muttered to himself, frowning.

"What’s wrong?" Zane asked curiously.

"I got someone I least wanted..."

"Garmadon?" Zane immediately guessed.

"Maybe you should ask Lloyd for advice..."

"It feels silly that so many people know, but I’ll have to," Kai sighed. "Who did you get?"

"I don’t want to tell you," Zane winked at him. "Such are the rules."

Wu was sweating as he walked around the room. "I don’t know, I don’t know..." He did know what to buy, but he was reluctant. "I don’t want to support that kind of behavior!"

The evening before Christmas had arrived.

"Dad?" Lloyd called as he walked into the living room. "I thought Mom was wrapping the gifts..."

"You didn’t think your father could wrap gifts?" Sensei Garmadon smiled at Lloyd's expression.

"It’s his secret talent." Misako came in from the living room.

"He thinks we’re teasing him!" Sensei Garmadon laughed as he looked at Lloyd. "Let me wrap a gift for you, and you’ll see."

"Okay," Lloyd said, handing over his present.

"Here you go!" Sensei Garmadon beamed as he wrapped it.

"You’re really good at this!" Lloyd noted with enthusiasm.

"It’s time for presents!" Nya officially announced as she approached the area where the gifts were.

"Who should we start with?"

"You go first," Lloyd suggested, and Nya went to find the gift with her name on it.

"This is really beautifully wrapped," she noted. When she opened it, she found several pieces she was missing for her Samurai X suit to upgrade it.

She was puzzled because she couldn’t figure out who had gotten this for her... She had talked about it with a few people...

"Now it’s my turn," Kai said as he went to his present. "Let’s see..." He smiled and was astonished when he opened it.

Inside was a plush mouse and a training strap with the message: "May your hair no longer get in your eyes as it used to."

"Who did this?!" Kai exclaimed angrily, looking at everyone in turn.

"It’s okay, Kai..." Lloyd tried to calm him, but Kai shot a glare at Jay.

"You... I’ll get you back."

"Enough!" Nya interjected. "Kai, this is a joke, and the plush mouse is really soft."

"I didn’t mean to sound so annoyed..." Jay defended himself.

"In the end, Jay, I’m sorry." Kai said as he sat down.

Next, Jay went and found a gaming console. "Woohoo!" he exclaimed, then read the note.

"Don’t get addicted to this, and let this gift not encourage your laziness!"

"Haha, that’s you, Sensei Wu," Jay smiled.

Cole followed behind him.

"Hmm..." he mumbled as he couldn’t quite figure out what he was holding.

"Need help?" "Press the button in the middle," Pixal suggested, and Cole opened it to reveal a hiking backpack that could hold many things.

"Awesome, thanks, Pixal!"

"Haha, this isn’t really Secret Santa," Lloyd chuckled. Zane went next and found a cookbook and a chess set.

"Someone who knows me well must have gotten this..."

"More or less everyone in this room, Zane," Kai said, and everyone began to laugh.

"Lloyd, it’s your turn now," Cole prompted. Lloyd approached and found a pile of comics. Honestly, he was a bit disappointed.

"But I don’t read comics anymore..."

"These are adult comics; give them a try, and you’ll like them. I promise," Cole said, and Lloyd looked at him in surprise. "You said you drew Zane!"

"I tricked you, didn’t I?"Cole laughed at that.

Pixal went next and found many tools. "This is really useful!"

"You don’t have to sound that surprised," Wu chuckled. "So far, all the gifts have been more or less useful."

"Master, now it’s your turn!" Kai said tensely. Sensei Wu approached his present. It was so beautifully wrapped that he immediately knew Garmadon had done it.

"So, Lloyd, Misako, or Garmadon?"

"Hand it over, Sensei!" Cole said as Wu opened the gift. Inside were his favorite teas and a mug with his embarrassing picture on it, where he was wearing curlers in his beard.

"Brother!" Wu immediately recognized it.

"Admit it, the teas are spot on!" Sensei Garmadon smirked.

"When we swapped, you promised you wouldn’t buy anything silly!" Misako looked at Sensei Garmadon in surprise.

"Swapped?" Everyone glared at them.

"I got Nya and had no idea what to get a teenager girl!" Sensei Garmadon defended himself.

"Misako, you buyed me..." Nya suddenly said.

"Come on, you two!" Kai interrupted.

"Let’s go!" Misako said, playfully patting him on the back.

"Alright." Sensei Garmadon stood up and opened the gift. Inside was a purple blanket covered in blue bunnies.

"Haha." Sensei Garmadon laughed at that.

"When I suggested a blanket, I didn’t mean this!" Lloyd glared at Kai.

Misako was the last to come and opened her gift. "These are some codes?" Misako looked at the book curiously.

"I thought you’d enjoy solving them," Zane said.

"Since this wasn’t exactly Secret Santa, maybe it’s best if we all say who we got!" Sensei Garmadon began, putting his arm around Misako's shoulder.

"I like that idea," Kai said. "Then I got Garmadon..."

"I got Pixal," Lloyd said, and Pixal looked at him in astonishment.

"How did you know?"

"Zane helped me," Lloyd smiled. "Who else doesn’t know who they got?"

"I think that’s everyone," Zane said.

"Then I’ll go get something else," Misako said and went to get a tray, bringing back hot chocolates and teas.

"Merry Christmas, everyone!" Jay cheerfully said once more, and they all settled in to chat and enjoy.

Cole headcanons, because apparently when I’m bored I think about Cole (and Morro, and Cryptor, surprisingly enough):

Cole is annoyingly acrobatic. In fact, when they first started doing their ninja stuff he was the most flexible and acrobatic, when it would make more sense if it was Jay or Kai due to their builds or elements. Not once did he ever share the reason as to why being Lou putting him into ballet, gymnastics, and having him train at home to peak flexibility because Lily was the one who did it before, so Lou was not gonna stop until Cole reaches Lily’s expectations. (Lily used to do the splits easily in front of Cole and Cole was determined to do that too, no one could stop the force that was baby Cole. As much as Lou started the idea, he wanted to stop because he kept thinking it was too much. It was Cole staring him dead in the eyes and saying ‘Mama wants me to’ that pushed him to continue. The dance stuff was all him though). He actually helped Jay train into being more flexible pre-pilots and later helped Nya do the same.

Cole understood Lloyd’s desire for sweets a bit too much, and instead of pushing it down and making Lloyd learn control, he encouraged it and now Wu had too deal with two sugar rushed ninja.

Cole used to argue with Kai all the time when they first began training together, until one day he had had enough. When Kai huffed and walked away after a particularly heated argument where not even Nya could get Kai to calm down and Zane and Jay couldn’t pull the two apart, Cole stomped up behind the shorter male, picked him up, and teddy bear hugged him until Kai apologised. It’s Cole’s version of when older siblings keep you head locked until you apologise. Kai was an embarrassed mess because Cole wouldn’t stop complimenting him and sharing his point of view like a healthy adult whilst he was still huffing. He didn’t argue with Cole for the next week and agreed each time the other told him to do something. Nya couldn’t stop laughing each time Jay and Zane mimicked the moment. The only reason Cole did that was because he remembered a big argument between his mum and dad when he was younger, and when it got heated from his dads side, his mum just picked Lou up and held him until he calmed down and she was able to think with a clearer mind.

Cole absolutely LOVES throwing dirt at people, and when they found out Nya’s element, he was able to convince her into helping him make mud to throw at people. They had to run when Zane had enough and froze the mud to chase them with it.

Cole likes to pop out of the ground at random times. Lloyd had to quickly learn to watch where he stepped, less his foot connects to Cole’s face again.

Cole actually planned to sell fake ‘special, one of a kind rocks!’ During that one time they were poor as dirt. It would’ve worked amazingly well too, seeing as everyone knew he was the earth ninja. Despite Wu not being there to tell him off, Kai had fun smacking Cole over the head for that idea.

Cole is probably the only ninja completely willing to commit crimes, especially fraud and theft.

Similarly to how Jay had to teach Zane how to live a tad more normally and how to understand society, Cole had to do the same with Kai and Nya. Wu could not be trusted because everyone realised he was just a tad of a recluse.

You know how Nya stepped onto that soulmate machine thing and it said Cole was her perfect match? Well, after Cole threw away his weird need to prove it right (lowkey think he was just matching the energy Jay had given and got petty) he called his dad up and explained it all and how they somewhat worked it out but it was still weird with Nya, and Lou lowkey just laughed at him, and reminded Cole of all those fairytale book’s he used to read and how they tended to explore the topics of found family and friends. Cole didn’t understand, but Lou explained that soulmates aren’t just the people you love romantically, but the people you love platonically. Cole and Nya sat down together just an hour later and Cole had to share this epiphany to the person he considered a sister, and understood him just like he understood her.

Cole is usually dragged into helping Pixal in her personal projects due to his strength, but he knows she also enjoys his company.

Cole and Vania share late night texts about their lives after not talking for weeks and they talk for HOURSSS just sharing everything they’ve been through recently.

Cole struggled to learn how to swim. Mainly because his element enjoyed making him more sinkable rather than floatable.

Cole went through the phase of having decently tight curls as a child, to loose and flowy hair, to extremely tight curls. He likes having a new hair style every week, from wavy hair and ponytails, to dreads and puffs.

He wears hoodies in the hottest of heats just to prove to Kai that he can. (He can’t its all sweaty by the end of the day)

If Morro stuck around Cole would absolutely force him into living and healing. Ghost duo my beloveds 🫶

Starstruck [Ninjago x Male Reader]- Darkness Shall Rise

Previous chapter

The ninja assisted the citizens in repairing and cleaning the city after the Devourer's rampage. Zane's falcon landed on a sign that Jay and Cole positioned upright. "Ah, finally. All fixed up and Serpentine free," the Earth Ninja commented. Kai attempted to use his fire to meld the broken parts together but all he could produce was small sparks causing him to groan, "Arg! This is frustrating!"

The pole slipped from Jay and Cole's hands before they gasped and repositioned it. Kai continued to rant, "Our weapons are gone and most of our elemental powers are gone. I mean, we can still do Spinjitzu, but..." again the hothead failed to produce fire. M/n gently breathed flames onto the spot that needed to be repaired, which frustrated Kai even more, the dragon could his power better than the Master of Fire.

"I just feel so, I don't know.. limited. And thanks to the Devourer, our tank's out of commission, M/n's hurt, and now the Bounty is destroyed, we don't even have a place to sleep," Kai continued as he paced near his fellow ninja.

"No one ever said being a hero is easy," Zane smiled comfortingly, "Though our good deeds may never make us rich, they make us rich in other ways." He unconsciously glanced behind him to M/n and Cole who made sure the sign was secure. His two comrades had given him feelings close to what he was hinting to the hothead.

"Yeah, well, I don't feel rich," Kai grumbled with his arms crossed like a child.

"I, for one, enjoy pitching in," Jay commented as he picked up a piece of junk and chucked it into a nearby trash bin, "I've always wanted to feel part of a community. Uh, speaking of which, anyone seen Nya? She said she was gonna help."

Just as Jay finished his sentence Nya's voice called over her loud motorbike engine, "And I have!" Everyone turned to face the raven-haired girl and their sensei who pulled up next to the curb, "I may have found us a place to live."

"Really? But there's a waiting list a mile long to live in Ninjago City. How did you do that?" Jay inquired.

"I know a guy, who knows a girl, and she knows this girl who knows a guy. Well, this guy knows a girl who's a real estate agent and she can help you find a place, if you catch my drift," Nya explained and handed them a pamphlet while the ninja looked at each other in confusion.

"Are you going elsewhere?" M/n asked.

Sensei Wu answered, "We have to find a couple of components to fix the ninja tank. And some pain killers for your bruised ribs," referring to M/n and the injuries he received in his tussle with the Devourer. "Also, I love scenic drives. Haha, punch it, Nya!" the old man cheered

"Aye aye, Sensei," she called back as the revved the engine and speed off.

Jay read the name on the pamphlet, "'Patty Keys, Real Estate Queen.' Huh, this is exactly what we need. Once we get a roof over our head, we can start properly training Lloyd."

"And I can sleep off these injuries," M/n yawned, his pointed canines pointing out of his mouth and his droopy ears, twitching.

When the real-estate agent opened the door to the apartment the ninja glanced at each other in surprise and concern. The apartment was small and dull with a prominent scent of mildew which had M/n covering his nose. Strange pipes and wires ran in and out of the walls that was littered with mysterious stains.

"This one-bedroom, one-half-bath is a cozy dream. Who needs extras when everything is in arm's reach? Now, wait until you see the lighting," Patty nervously promoted the dingy space. When she flicked the light switch the bulb burnt out and proceeded to fall and shatter on the floor. "Uh, who needs lights when you have this view?" she continued, opening the window to reveal a brick wall blocking the sunlight.

"Uh, why do I smell old people?" Lloyd innocently asked.

"Look, doll. I'm trying to work around your budget. This is all you can afford," She directed her frustration at the boy who was heaved into M/n's arms as he gave her a distasteful look for speaking that way to the blonde boy.

"Uh, this looks...promising," Cole said, using the nicest word he could think of. "Remember, guys, Sensei told us our main objective is to train Lloyd, not kick our feet up in some swanky suite. If this is all we can afford, this is all we can afford," The ravenette reminded his friends.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, let's not rush into any decision," Jay interjected, "I mean, if it's really all about Lloyd, don't we need to live in some place that'll make training easier?"

"Yeah, Jay's right. If we have to get Lloyd ready to save Ninjago from his father, shouldn't he at least have his own room?" Kai agreed.

"Technically, that does not matter, he only—" Zane speaks before getting cut off by the hothead giving him a small 'shut up' jab.

"We're only thinking about the children, hehe," Jay laughed awkwardly.

"I do have another property that you'll just love," Patty said in the most real-estate voice ever.

The group was taken to the top of a skyscraper with a fancy elevator. Everyone let out a 'woah' as the doors opened to reveal a luxurious apartment with a large TV, plant decoration, and a faint floral scent in the air. "Now, this is the eight-bedroom Hero's Suite. Floor-to-ceiling windows, digital wall television, state-of-the-art game console," Patty introduced.

"Uh, it seems a little out of our price range," Cole worried.

"Oh, sure it costs a little more, but you deserve it," she persuaded, "I forgot to mention, there's also a dragon keep on the roof."

"Nice," Kai nudged M/n but got met with a scowl. He would not sleep on the roof just so the ninja can have an extra room for all their shit.

"Maybe we can get a hero discount. After all, we are the ninja who saved the city," Jay suggested.

Patty retorted sassily, "I thought Lord Garmadon saved the city."

Jay only huffed and folded his arms with a pout. "We could get day jobs to pay for the extra expenses," Kai suggested.

"We always said we could use a little more responsibility," Zane said, expressing his agreement Kai's idea.

"But we have to train Lloyd," Kai contradicted his previous argument.

"Someone has to train Lloyd, it doesn't have to be all of us. We could take turns," M/n advised.

"Did I mention the in-house training facility?" the real-estate agent pressed a button which revealed several pieces of training equipment.

"We'll take it!" the ninja exclaim simultaneously.

Each of the ninja, except for M/n got jobs to pay for the expensive apartment. The dragon objected to getting a job because he refused to leave the small Green Ninja alone at the suite.

Jay delivered pizzas, Cole worked as a bank security guard, Zane cooked in front of patrons for their amusement, and Kai.. poor Kai was a children's entertainer. Jay struggled to get tips which would've really helped with the rent. Cole's boss chastised him for trying to help an old lady. Zane had to overwork himself in order to appease his customers. Kai was used as a human trampoline by small children, the parents not even willing to wrangle their demon spawn.

Meanwhile, M/n trained Lloyd, but not too harshly; he recognized that the Green Ninja was only a boy and still deserved to be treated as such.

When the ninja got home M/n greeted them sympathetically, stopping what he was doing to get his friends whatever they needed. He gently massaged Cole's legs, much to the ravenette's relief, as they rested in a bucket of ice water. Lloyd in the background hit a punching bag which came swinging back and knocked him over. "My feet... I can't feel my feet," Cole whined, throwing his head back against the couch.

"There was so many of them. And they wouldn't stop," Kai breathed with his feet on the couch and a hand on his face.

"Ugh, my gears locked up several times," Zane said, concerned, while oiling the mechanics in his arms, "I didn't even know my gears could lock up."

Jay whined from his place on the floor, pathetically reaching for his controller, "I don't even have enough energy to play video games.."

Lloyd walked into the living room with a sassy smirk, "Good thing M/n trained me, you guys are pooped!"

"Jay, how close are we to making rent?" Cole asked.

"Is this jar getting bigger?" the usually hyper-active ninja complained while rattling the jar of coins, "We're not even close!"

"And our rent is due tomorrow," the Nindroid reminded, flexing his squeaky joints.

Cole volunteered, "I can pull a double shift."

"And I can do overtime," Zane offered.

"Maybe, I can sling a few more pizza pies," Jay said reluctantly, getting off the floor.

"And maybe I can make a little extra if I do the human piñata," Kai mentions, earning him a confused and concerned look from everyone, "Ugh, don't ask.."

"Great, then our priorities are set. Tomorrow.. we make rent," Cole reassured with a smile.

M/n felt guilt settle in the bottom of his stomach. He wasn't helping make rent and as a result the ninja have to work harder. While Lloyd was reading his comics and the ninja were at work he made his was to the dragon's keep at the top of the luxurious house. He transformed as quietly as possible and used his teeth and claws to pry some scales off of his hide. He knew dragon parts were sought after on the black market for their durability and strength. It didn't hurt too bad, like pulling out small chunks of hair. When M/n felt he had a sufficient amount of scales he reverted back to his human form, with irritated spots where he had removed his scales. He gathered the shards and put them in his satchel.

He gently ruffled Lloyd's blonde hair, "I'll be back, I'm going to run some errands."

The boy looked up from his Starfarer comic and smiled, "Okay!"

He weaved through roads and alleys until he found the underground of Ninjago City. M/n had found this place in his early teens, his rebel-against-Wu years. Although he didn't do anything dangerous or illegal, it was a good place to collect information and make connections.

He walked up to the bar counter and the bartender, a middle aged person with gentle, tired eyes and a scar up their cheek, greeted him with a smile. "What can I do you for, M/n?" they flashed a smile and handed the dragon a CapriSun (his go-to drink).

"Hey Ezra, I was wondering if you knew someone who might want to buy some dragon scales," M/n showed them the scales that occupied his bag.

"Damn those are fresh," they eyed the dragon suspiciously but didn't say anything, "Yeah I know some people."

The bartender shifted around the bar, not only doing their job but looking for said people. Only a few minutes had passed before he was greeted by two shifty looking people. "You the guy selling dragon scales?" they inquired.

M/n only nodded and displayed his satchel of scales. The men smiled to each other before dropping a bag of coins in his lap. "We'll take 'em," they replied with gravelly voices.

On his way out a hand grabbed the dragon's shoulder. He was met with Ezra who had a concerned look on their face, "Don't go and get in the habit of selling your scales, boy."

"I won't, I promise," M/n assured with a gentle smile.

As he made his way back to the apartment, he noticed Zane, Cole, and Kai gather at the bank entrance. "They're getting away," M/n heard the black-clad ninja say.

"Whose getting away?" the hybrid asked as he joined his friends.

"The Serpentine, I overheard them saying something about the subway," Cole quickly answered both questions.

"Good call. Let's go!" the Nindroid complimented, rushing down the stairs, the rest following suit.

The three ninja broke out into glowing tornadoes to change into their ninja gi's.

"Where's Jay?" M/n mentioned absent mindedly.

The four made their way into the subway tunnel system, looking out from a vent toward the Serpentine-controlled train. As soon as it passed they landed on the top, dropping onto their bellies as to not fly off the vehicle.

The snakes look toward the ceiling, "Sounds like we have company, boys," one called.

"But I only heard four. Aren't there five?" one pointed out.

"No, stupid. We caught one of them," the Serpentine with two heads chided.

The group clung to the roof of the speeding train. Cole called while looking off the side, "Ugh, isn't there an easier way to get inside?"

"Not without a ticket," Kai retorted before a hole was made in the metal below and he was snatched into the train car, barely able to let out a yelp.

The remaining ninja shared a glace, Zane joking, "I believe Kai just found it."

Cole quickly followed after Kai while Zane and M/n made eye contact. "Dragons first," Zane offered with an invisible smile.

"What a gentleman," M/n purred with a voice as smooth as honey that almost made the Nindroid lose focus. When the two jumped into the train they found themselves face to face with three serpentine, all wielding staffs. The hothead was being restrained by the black-scaled Serpentine while kicking and yelling, "Let me go, snake!"

"Welcome to the part—" The snake was cut off by Kai's elbow connecting to his face.

"Care for a drink?" the Venomari taunted, spitting green, hallucinogenic acid. M/n being in the front turned toward the Earth and Ice Ninjas and spread his wings to protect their eyes.

"Sorry," the dragon apologized as he accidently pushed them into a pile in an attempt to protect his comrades. M/n didn't seem to notice the shared flush of Cole and Zane's faces as the Nindroid was pushed onto the Earth Master's lap.

The dual-headed snake whacked M/n in the spine with his gold staff which did more to annoy him than hurt him. He growled, revealing his razor claws and lunged at the snake. The Venomari leader yelped as he was thrown against the wall of the train.

Cole and Zane, having recovered from their.. incident, were now in hand-to-hand combat with the green-scaled snake.

"These Serpentine are a lot harder to defeat without our weapons," Kai complained while combatting the sturdy Constrictai.

"Just keep fighting. We not gonna let these fools get away with this," Cole encouraged while avoiding swings from the solid metal staff. He managed to knock the snake into the wall, breaking a train window. "Get away? We aren't trying to get away. We're just trying to distract you long enough so that Skales can kidnap Lloyd," The snarky Serpentine revealed their plan with a shit-eating grin.

M/n whipped around, claws curled at his sides as he approached the snake, "You WHAT?!" He roared with canines glaring.

"We could care less about the money. We just wanted the boy. Who's the fool, now?" The foolish Serpentine continued to taunt. M/n gripped his strong hands around its long neck, warning it to stop talking.

"Go get Lloyd." The dragon commanded. The ninja shared a glace, "What about the Serpentine?" Cole voiced their concerns. "I'll fucking kill them. Go. Get. Lloyd." Instead of arguing they collectively leapt out of the vehicle, jumping and rolling safely off the train.

M/n's actions became more animalistic, lips curling into a snarl, claws itching to draw blood, and slitted pupils which darted between his opponents. He immediately attacked the dual-headed snake who had taunted him. His bashed the two heads against each other repeatedly until the Serpentine fell limp. He turned to the Venomari and before they could react he clamped their mouth shut, inhibiting them from spitting vemon. The dragon, wielding the staff of the Fangpyre, clubbed the Serpentine in the skull, dazing them in order to throw them out the previously broken window. The remaining Serpentine braced for combat against the feral hybrid. M/n ripped one of the poles from the train's interior and quickly rushed at the snake. The gave him a whack in order to give him the time to bend the pole and use it to restrain the black-scaled Serpentine.

Once he stopped to admire his work we was able to hear a small yell. Jay's voice coming from the front of the train. He rushed to the conductor's cabin and spotted the tie-up Lightning Ninja down the tracks. He pulled hard on the brake but wasn't sure the vehicle could stop in time so he rushed out the hole in the roof and used his wings to swoop down and save the poor brunette.

"Thank you! I thought I was going to die!" The excited ninja jabbered.

The ninja, excluding Jay, walk into the dull apartment, showing no signs of Lloyd. They share a nervous glance before searching the rooms for the blonde boy, "Lloyd?" Kai calls softly.

"He's not here," Zane observes with worry.

"Oh, we shouldn't have left him," Kai runs his hands down his face in distress while Zane puts a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"We shouldn't have taken those jobs in the first place. What were we thinking? Losing Lloyd was by far our greatest loss," Cole recognizes their mistakes.

"But it could be your greatest lesson," Wu's wise, old voice interrupts the air of guilt.

Zane, Cole, and Kai happily called out the boy's name.

"You're okay!" Kai grins, his big brother instincts being calmed.

"I wasn't going to be, until Nya and Sensei showed up at the last moment," Lloyd explained.

Nya joked, "I go away for a day and everything falls apart."

Approaching panting was heard behind Wu and Nya who moved out of the way to reveal an exhausted M/n and an excited Jay.

The dragon fell to his knees as wrapped the boy in a hug, "Lloyd! I'm so sorry I left you home alone. I was supposed to watch you and I couldn't even do that right."

"It's okay, M/n. I'm alright," Lloyd reassured.

"Jay!" The ninja cheered.

"I guess you could say we learned we don't need all the fancy stuff. We just need each other," Kai smartly states.

"You want us to help you clean up?" Sensei Wu offered.

"Well, we are a team," the hothead smirked.

"Nya, I think it's time for another road trip," Wu suggested mischievously

"Hold on," Cole interrupted, "I got a better idea."

The ninja moved boxes into the old, run-down apartment originally offer to them. Cole repeated the introduction the Patty had said for comedic effect, "It's not much, but this one-bedroom, one-half-bath is a cozy dream. Who needs extras when everything is in arm's reach?" Lloyd accidentally ran into Jay with a chair, causing him to drop his end of the large box with Kai at the other end. He let out a small yelp as the box dropped onto his foot. After processing the pain Kai began hopping on his uninjured foot, repeating 'ow'.

"Ha, feels like home to me. Hey, at least we get to stay in Ninjago City for a little while," Jay smiled humorously at Kai's pain.

"And now without the distractions, we can put all of our energy into training Lloyd," Zane fondly smirked as he watched M/n take the chair from the confused boy.

"I know M/n took care of the Serpentine Generals, but you never told us: whatever happened to Skales?" Kai wondered.

"Oh, he found a home, too. But it's not quite as roomy as here," Sensei Wu replied vaguely.

When night fell the ninja all claimed their beds, all except M/n and Zane who found that the apartment lacked enough beds for all of them. "I will sleep on the floor," The Nindroid offered.

"No, I can't let you do that," The dragon argued as he climbed into the bed, "We can share. It's not like anything bad will happen."

Zane hesitantly climbed into the bed, trying to keep his distance for both of their comforts. Eventually M/n fell asleep but the robot was still wide awake, afraid of making the hybrid uncomfortable. The sleeping dragon slowly pull them closer, a tail wrapping around their legs, an arm on their chest, a leg intertwined with their own. By time Zane let himself drift to sleep the two were cuddled together with small smiles on their faces.

Reader was walking around the city when she and her friends noticed the ninjas in weird uniforms "uhhh, why are they dressed like that?" Namir asked confused and a bit amused by their looks as reader sighed in embarrassment "it's... Wu's tea shops uniforms" she said sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her neck "you mean the one he's trying to make a business out of?" Phytios said as he took a bite of his candy"yup" she confirmed it as they all looked at the ninjas showcasing their powers"... where's your brother? Isn't he always with them?" Strymyr asked as he looked at each of the ninjas but didn't find Lloyd"I don't know, all I heard from his conversation with the ninjas is him going to the museum to help" she shrugged her shoulders, she never knows where her brother is unless she eavesdrops the conversations between him and his 'family'. After a while they got bored and it was time to go back to their respective homes so she walked back into the tea shop on the mountain "hi reader, welcome back..I didn't know you were out" Misako said with caring visible in her voice. Reader just nodded at her and went behind the counter to the cash register as the first two clients came, a mother and a daughter, clearly close to one another, making reader feel bitter as she only saw that happen between Lloyd and Misako. Just as she was about to give them the bill for the teas they chose, the ninjas barged in in a clear state of panic, all talking over one another "ninjas, calm down. Can't you see? We have our first clients" Wu said as he pointed at the mother and daughter. The little girl, who looked around reader's age, which is 10, stared at the ninjas in awe and admiration 'ugh, great another fan of the oafs' she thought in bitterness. She looked at Wu and to her surprise she saw a look of worry in his eyes "ninjas, you four weren't my first pupils" he said but gets interrupted by the little girl pointing outside. Reader follows her line of sight and sees Lloyd "Look, it's Lloyd!" The little girl said in excitement, but reader has a feeling in her chest, like a heavy stone is there as she looked closer 'that is not Lloyd' she thought.

One thing led to another and now she was hiding behind the counter as whatever took Lloyd's body was fighting with master Wu and Nya after the ninjas got defeated by him. She peeked her head from the counter before seeing some symbols coming out of the old staff that Wu always carries with him. Fortunately before the possessed Lloyd could ran away with the staff Nya let a shelf fall and stop him, making reader gasp out of worry for Lloyd but then remembering that that thing was not her brother. She soon ran out of the shop with Nya and to the Bounty, along with the others ninjas.

She looked around worried as she counted the people on the ship "where's Kai?" She said because even though she didn't like him or Nya, she didn't want for them to be separated like she and Lloyd now are, and for a while have been after the tomorrow's tea incident. The ninjas looked at her before noticing Kai fighting with Lloyd, or whatever took his place. Soon Nya brought down the Bounty's anchor and grabbed Kai as they flew away. Reader sighed in relief for a brief moment before noticing something "he's following!" She yelled loud enough to be heard . The others look outside as they noticed the possesed Lloyd flying on a dragon "quick use your powers!" She yelled at the ninjas "we can't! We lost them!" Jay tells out of panic "what?!" She yelled back, now panicking too. Soon Wu interjected before the panic could escalate "I need to deciph the symbol on the staff before he can!" And then Zain added "me and Kai will protect you while Jay and Cole fight off that guy!" He explained the plan as he, Wu and Kai already run inside "what?! Why do we have to do that?!" Jay said, still in a stage of panic "cause I'm the smart one" Zain added with a hint of cockyness in hus tone, making reader roll her eyes before running to hide in her room. As soon as she got there she sighed in relief before yelling surprised and shocked and scared as she sees a spirit in front of her "who are you?! Are you with whatever took my brother's place?!" She tells before the spirit kneld down in front of her "I'm not here to cause you arm. I know you feel useless, unable to do anything to help except hide and hope for the best. You want to help save your brother from Morro right?" It said as it voice was neutral and calm despite the situation "... Morro?..yes, I want to help. But I'm useless, my powers cause destruction. I inherited all my father's bad things and obviously Lloyd had to inherit all his good traits." She said bitterly as she felt the heavy feeling on her chest again "I can help you change it all. But this must require focus, determination and the understanding that it will come to a cost" it said to her, looking at her as it sat down in front of her by the door "...will this helping me save my brother from Morro? Whoever that it" she asked "you care for him, Why? He abandoned you for his new family with the ninjas and your uncle Wu? Why do you want to save him?" It asked curious "I'm not doing it for myself, I know me and him will never be close again. But Ninjago needs it green ninja and the ninjas need their brother. I will do anything, even sacrifice myself if I have to, just so Ninjago could have their precious hero back" she explained determined to the spirit "so can you help me or not?" She added with a glare, as menacing as it can be coming from a 10 year old as if to warn the spirit to choose wisely "you're determined, focused on your goal and ready for whatever the cost may be. I will train you, little lighthouse, to transform your darkness.." it took her hand and showed a black and purple flame on her hand "..into to light" it finished his sentence as it maked the previous dark and cold flame into a bright and warm one. She looked at the flame on her hand in awe before the Bounty crashed again something "I have to go now, but do not worry, I will be back" it said before disappearing in thin air.

Soon the night came and they all looked at Wu for an explanation on what actually happened and so he explained the story of his first pupil, who he previously in the past thought was going to be he green ninja and was named Morro, making reader look at him in surprise as she reckoned the name from the spirit 'so he was his first pupil? Uh' she thought as they continued to listen before the ninjas asked their own questions and the falling asleep, soon getting followed by Nya and Wu. Reader stayed awake as she looked at the sky 'wherever you are spirit, I hope you are right and can teach me how to save Lloyd' she thought before falling asleep on the floor, nor having noticed said spirit looking at her from on top of tree branch with one thought in mind

This is the last post in the series! Maybe I’ll do these for Season 2 Part 2, maybe not. But either way, here’s some thoughts on the Dragons Rising, Season 2 midseason finale:

Okokok dragons rising s2p2 REWATCH thingy it’s mostly me noticing small details and shit I missed the first time. Ramble-y at points lol

Ok so like….. first episode it gets established that all the dragon tribes fall under the jurisdiction of each of the source dragons…. Neato. More world building shenanigans

WYLDFYRE PEAK YIPPEE. Nya said Lloyd was helping her with her precision, and there’s this really cute animation moment where’s she’s firing her flames like she’s shooting a gun lol

Ok so like Frak taught Arin how to make Merlopian Berry Crème pie…. Frak is merlopian question mark(?) (I don’t think it makes sense timeline wise lol don’t listen to me)

I like the scene of Zane training it reminds me a little bit of that scene from all the back in s1 where’s he’s just tuning everybody out

So like the tournament thingy takes place at the same spot as that flashback with Wu and Bonzle in season 1 (maybe?) I wonder why Wu was hanging out there so long ago lol. (I mean lily might have been at the last one too but like who knows)

ROBY PEAK!!!! My only issue with him and Bleckt is that I wish the writers would’ve really hammed up the comedy between the two. Made them just completely unserious. Would’ve made Bleckts betrayal a little more impactful maybe. (Imagine a bunch of goofy cartoony gags between the two, only for the eventual reveal that bleckt actually genuinely wants roby dead. Woulda been crazier)

Ok so seven headed source dragon thingy. It’s either symbolism like roby said or we are eventually gonna build up to an ultra-dragon adjacent situation. Somehow. Idk how. But maybe it would be cool

Ok random thought. I think it’s pretty clear at this point that elemental powers come from and are associated w the source dragons. You can extrapolate the connections (fire and heat come from motion, plants is probably from life, etc). I think you can remedy the whole “the new elemental powers are stupid” thing by thinking about them more as the elements of the source they are associated with , rather than elemental powers in the traditional sense of our world (If that distinction makes sense lol idk how to explain it non-stupidly. It’s just a matter of framing)

That being said, I really like zant-tanz lol I think it’s his voice teehee. Silly whimsical snail man. Shame he had to get kicked out but then again…. He had some rock stacking to do at home

Ok ok ok I think some parts of the Jay fight are kinda lame (“and I will always hate you” 🙄) but things make more sense from jays perspective I think. Imagine you’re coming from a place where everyone devalued ur individuality and didn’t care abt you as a person, and then you come to this tournament where ur opponent (who ur literally fighting against in this ~tournament~) suddenly starts telling you you’re the love of their life n stuff (and ur also being manipulated but besides that even). I would also just assume that they’re being weird and try to kick their ass.

“Not sure I can pull it off… it’s arriving too soon” what exactly was Wu trying to pull off lol? crazy theory time 100% NOT real NOT going to happen: Wu is trying to bring someone (I’m betting his dad) back from the dead, cuz like departed realm shenanigans and the merge maybe. But we also don’t really know how departed realm stuff works yet, so there’s not much we can extrapolate from there. Idk.

I’m sorry but I always think it’s really cool when cinder bounces people around like a basketball teehee. He’s a very fun character to watch during fights.

Similar-ish point to my Jay spiel from 2 seconds ago but like. Arin’s convo w Frak abt how shatterspin is super evil actually makes me laugh a little bit. Cuz Arins going on about like “oh dude it ~~shatters your goodness~~ you can’t ever do shatterspin” and internally Frak is like “is this guy actually fr” lmao. On my first watch through I was literally like “Arin stop you sound so fucking brainwashed rn” shfjfjjfkfkgkgla

Ok ok so Ras wanted all the elemental powers so he could get a dragon icon somehow…. Lloyd just got his gifted to him tho. (Might be another matter of force vs harmony — you can either do all the hard work to get all the powers and make ur own icon, or the source dragons will just like. Give you an icon. If ur cool enough or whatever)

Dragon Ivory stores powers, dragon horns can give u power but then they make u angry or smthn… dragon ivory can also be used to communicate w the nether space….... hhhrrrnnngg dragon lore im trying to make it make sense in my brain hrrrnngg

Small nitpick but like. The way the tournament is organized kinda makes no sense….. cuz all the plot relevant fights involving the ninja happen at the beginning, so they’ve been in multiple fights and get multiple powers. Then there’s a montage of them fighting other elemental masters who only have one power. So the whole thing is actually completely unbalanced and unfair. Turns out Roby does suck at organizing tournaments lol

God that one shot of nokt running at the camera hunting the arc dragon is so fucking perfect the colors are just mmmmmmhhhh so good I gotta redraw it I gotta redraw it so baddddddddhhhhhhhhhh

Ohhhhh the final couple of fights the composition and the coreography were sooooo good we are backkkkkk we are soooooooooo backkkkkkkkkkk

TLDR: I remember it being good and then I rewatched it and it was still good. Yayyyyyyyy
