His self-care was 100% because Jin Yanli would be sad if he didn't try to look nice.#Okay okay. Fine I've delayed talking about the kiss long enough.#It is absolutely a core LWJ scene over a WWX scene. Which is made even more fascinating because we don't get his POV.#But we get so many insights! His loss of control and his firmness all contrasted against how he trembles.#And all of that wrapped up in a wonderful self-loathing bow! You go Lan Zhan! You hated yourself so much for this!#WWX is a hilarious narrator for this because he is truly just...baffled by what's going on.#He would push the person away but he doesn't want to hurt their feelings or pride (putting other people first again are we?)#I do understand why this one is divisive for people though. I choose to look at it through a character/humourous lens.#I've seen people defend and admonish this scene as a particularly shitty thing LWJ did and let's be very clear here: It was.#That's why I like it. When i started disco elysium i thought, well, obviously Kim is normal and regular (I would later be proven wrong), so his clothes must be what regular cops wear in disco elysium world. But then we see other cops and they’re wearing like... black suits. Uniforms. And THEN it turns out that what Kim is actually doing is closet-cosplaying as a pilot of an airforce that doesn’t exist anymore. oh, i figured out aya's skill.
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#bsd aya#ngl this like is making me lose my mind because she's had one this entire time#and it's so fucking obvious in retrospect#but was like. was introduced. slowly. it was not really obvious at first. but you can look back and see how it's present even in the ova.#anyway i don't mean to tease but i wrote out about a third of the theory and then started cracking open other parts of the story with sarah#and now i'm exhausted so i'm going to sleep#but i am certain. like there is no doubt in my mind. that i know what aya's skill is. it fits textually and metatextually#and explains a cryptic comment asagiri made in an interview.#where he said watch aya. like. most of what's been incredible has been obvious.#but no. you can see her skill. and it's SUCH a love letter to aya koda.#in a way i was worried he wouldn't pull off. because it felt like her skill was going to manifest from the stress. and it would be like op.#which isn't. who she was. she was a subtler sort of brilliant. one who exemplified virtue. and this skill is so. it's so good. it's fitting#it also explains akutagawa's dragon outfit.#like. there are a lot of theories i've had that are theories. this is not one of them. we might get the confirmation next chapter.#unfortunately i will need to lay out some confucian concepts for it to make sense. hence why i'm saving this for later. but i'm.#asagiri is insane i want to pick his brain and also follow him around like mary magdalene and learn from him.

My logic/HC for why Lady dresses the way she does is that she figures any demon who hurts her will be able to hurt her regardless of whether she's wearing armor or not, so she might as well go for something with mobility to keep from getting hit in the first place. No point in wearing something that would restrict movement if a demon claw could tear your leg off whether you're wearing clunky armored pants or some easy-to-move-in shorts!
(Yes I know the real reason is that the devs like sexy minimally-clad women but let's just imagine it's the in-universe explanation okay)

Appreciation post for 'girly girl' characters and/or shows that celebrate traditionally feminine things that girls and women are shamed for.
Characters on this list that love makeup, fashion, hair, etc. Characters that are still written as strong, intelligent, brave, etc. That told young girls that these interests are valid, they are not lesser interests. Being feminine and liking traditionally feminine things does not make them weak.
#I'm so glad I got to grow up with these girls#I was originally gonna make a post of Barbie Daphne and Stella and be like. They remind me so much of each other#And how much I love characters like them#Because I do#But then I was like fuck it let's just make a post for all the girly girls because they're so good#So here we are. In a world of misogyny. We still have them. And I am so greatful#I'm sad I missed out on celebrating my femininity and stuff like this in my teen years because of just. Stuff I was going through#But I'm glad I'm doing it now. I've been getting into makeup for the past year. Mostly eye it's so fun#The Barbie movie. Dressing up for it. Being proud makeup and skirts and dressing up like I did as a girl. God it was so wonderful#I've not felt this connected to this part of myself in years. It has helped to much#It reminded me of my love for Barbie. The movies. The fairies and mairmaids. The bright colours and fashions#And my love for all of these shows. The outfits and designs I fell in love with. The friendships and sisterhoods in all of them.#Yes it's just Rarity. I know some of the others girls also fit. But some don't as much so I didn't wanna just put a group one#And I know Kim and some others aren't as girly as others. i've started a new save file in pla for the purpose of compiling all the minor npc names and dialogue from the major settlements, and noting changes over time, because i have a normal amount of interest in pla trivia and minutia, and one thing that immediately jumped out to me that i didn't notice in previous go-rounds b/c i probably wasn't paying too much attention:
the protagonist's room has visibly been previously occupied.
even upon your first arrival, there are strings of veggies and two pairs of sandals hung up around the hearth. there's a survey tips notebook that looks to have been haphazardly thrown onto the end table. mismatched dishware and bottles stacked up on the shelves. a shirt hanging up on the wall you can't wear. most striking to me are those two glass jars full of pretty rocks that have been left on the windowsill. investigating them gets the comment that "someone" must have found them and collected them, "...but they're just plain old stones."
it's honestly always been sort of weird to me that in jubilife, this developing town where everyone's constantly commenting on how scarce resources are and how tough life is, there was just this entire spare lodging available complete with furniture and food and they were all fine with letting some random survey recruit use it as their solo personal quarters. but if that room was recently deserted, that might actually be a pretty good explanation. leaving just the one question,
whose was it, and what happened to them?
#the nemesis speaks#pla analysis#i see 2 main options that are mostly based on other hcs#but also on the fact that it's specifically a Survey Corps room (from the notes on the table)#1. this is where the fortunes lived when they were still in the team and their departure was recent enough that nobody's cleaned it out yet#2. that's actually technically cyllene's room it's just that per I'm Miserable Ignore The Smile she's moved out of it and in with lav#but then of course there's the option 3. a former survey recruit lived there and they Died and now nobody will touch it bc it's haunted#which is why it's available and they throw you at it like ''here this idiot can get haunted we don't care''#anyway this runthrough is also a rei protag bc i need a postgame rei file to preview outfits on. that's the only reason.

just recently watched this is us with my college friends
