Is she really"Bram Stoker's" Lucy Westenra: a naive, innocent 19 year old, with a cheery personality and a bright future ahead of her? Or has the writer instead just slapped her name on an OC that behaves nothing like her, and- with none of the grace or decorum that Lucy's tragically short story deserves- sexualized her slow and agonising death as much as possible, whilst very unsubtly doing their best to blame her for being murdered, so that we won't object to her being killed again later in an even more gruesome and sexual manner?

Cause bioware released some game stats for veilguard and apparently 72% of players redeemed Solas which is like. Okay yeah the game kinda pushes you towards that. But when I think of all the shit I used to have to put up with just for enjoying Anders like at all and…

(This is not me being anti-Solas, I do not care if you love or hate him, but I am gonna say what he’s done is like. Objectively worse than literally every other companion so lmao. And that’s fine! You can still enjoy him! I’m not saying you can’t and it’s important to me that people understand that! I’m just saying he did in fact do objectively morally worse things in game than Anders did and I don’t think that’s really debatable. And I can’t really make my point here without saying that but I do want to make it clear this is not some moral condemnation of Solas enjoyers cause it’s not)

Getting anon hate on the regular, being told “oh you’re allowed to like Anders as long as you regularly talk about how much he sucks”, people gleefully describing how much fun they have killing him ON your posts about the fact that you like him, the devs making jokes about shitty fates for him when fans asked innocent questions about him, the absolute audacity of his writer to say half the shit she did in interviews (about bisexuality and mental illness, most critically), and then being beaten over the head again in inquisition about how Anders is the worst character to ever exist and there’s no redemption for terrorists who lie to you one time in the entire game and he deserves death or worse and that’s it

And now… 72% of people are down to redeem the guy who lies to you for 2 games straight and who did a lot of questionable things that includes creating the fucking blight and. Like. I guess I’m glad that Solas fans can live in a world where they aren’t constantly harassed and can give their ship like. A pretty damn good ending all things considered. And that the devs love Solas and actually give the option for that happy ending and have characters go to bat for Solas throughout the game and the most annoying thing they have to see are people making scrambled egg memes. I would not wish anyone to have to deal with the shit Anders fans had to put up with back then cause it sucked. It really sucked. And I’m glad it’s not being repeated with a different character, if nothing else

But like. Man there really is a difference when the writers actually like the character who does the thing, huh

It was like clockwork the way that Jason could sense the slightest mood change in her; no one had ever been able to read her like that before. "That I have, yes. The whole crew has been working so hard. Everyone is really dedicated to this performance, and it's been such a breath of fresh air." She had experiences in the past with previous casts who lacked passion for what they were doing, but this time it was entirely different. To say that nerves were on a high level was quite the understatement. "Who knew a hungry me was adorable," she laughed, the sound mingling with the ambient noise of the diner. Settling into the booth, she began to peruse the menu that the waitress had just brought over. After a warm smile to the waitress as a thank you, she let her eyes take in the various options.

"You saying that made me imagine a small you sitting in a booth waiting for your cheeseburger," she said, the mere thought bringing a wider grin to her lips. She was so curious about his childhood and what kind of relationship he had with his family. She knew about the connection he had with his sister, but not much beyond that. "Wait, is this your move? You take girls to this diner and impress them with your memory of the menu?" Her voice was entirely playful, her hand reaching over the table to brush her fingertips across his arm. She pulled back to use them to turn the pages of the menu. "I will take your advice on the mushroom burger and order that. I definitely trust your taste buds when it comes to this place."

Noticing the slight change in her voice when he mentioned Jac's name, Jason squeezed her hand gently against his. "We're going to enjoy it, I'm sure. You've worked so hard." He laughed at the mention of her drooling. "Whoops. But I'm not exactly sorry." Jason winked at her. "Although, you do look cute when you're hungry and thinking of burgers." He got comfortable in his seat, slightly disappointed now that there was a table separating them. Still, Jason's fingers had once again found her across, his thumb trailing against the back of her hand to her fingers. Thanking the waitress for bringing them the menus and water, Jason turned his attention to Jess again.

"Really, you've never been? Jac and I grew up here to be honest. My mom used to work at the back during the days before she helped my dad out in his pub at night a few streets down. We weren't that well to do, growing up," Jason said melancholily. He wasn't embarrassed about his background although there were parts of it where he was sure Jess would immediately run once she knew. "Actually, I don't need to see the menu to order," Jason chuckled lightly, opening it up for Jess. "Kinda memorised it since I was in high school." He reached out to point at the burgers section. "You know what, if you're big on mushrooms, the grilled mushroom burger is to die for. Or you know if you want something familiar, choose the classic one. You won't regret either, I promise."
