what western media/music do u think the s62 would like ? (ur post abt izana liking mitski oh god help🥲🥲🥲)
I'll be merging these asks. Music taste anon, I hope you see this 😭
Western music that I think S62 might like, with artists (warning: self-indulgent, literally just projected my music taste on some characters but hopefully they still match)
*I might make a separate post for Western media hmm
IZANA
➼ Izana’s favorite music normally falls under the indie and rock umbrellas. He’s partial to 80s-90s rock and alternative rock but enjoys some modern indie artists from time to time. I see that he canonically listens to Queen (though I’m not sure if he does love the band or just one song), so there’s that. Other artists he might listen to are The Rolling Stones, Muse, The Strokes, Aerosmith, The Smashing Pumpkins, Arctic Monkeys (insists he likes their pre-AM music, would make a face if you tell him your favorite Arctic Monkeys song is “Do I Wanna Know”) ... and Mitski..... (you know why)
➼ His favorite Mitski album is Bury Me At Makeout Creek by the way.
Get a feel of his music taste: The View From The Afternoon - Arctic Monkeys, Tonight, Tonight - The Smashing Pumpkins, Angie - The Rolling Stones
RAN
➼ Somewhat your mom/dad’s music taste. Probably one of those people who say older music’s better than new music. He’s a New Wave guy. Likes a lot of 70s-80s pop hits; some funk, soul, and disco music; with some alt indie bands sprinkled in. He’s fond of shoegaze because of its floaty and ethereal sound which makes him feel nostalgic and at peace. He also appreciates mesmerizing vocals and orchestral instrumentals, so I think he’d like Florence and Lana if he heard them.
➼ Artists he would probably like: ABBA, Prince, The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, Cocteau Twins, Lady Gaga (I think she was big in Japan + her songs probably played a lot in clubs + she was always doing something shocking and Ran liked that)
Get a feel of his music taste: Lullaby - The Cure, Heart of Glass - Blondie, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! - ABBA
RINDO
➼ He’s into R&B, soul, 90s rap like Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, and Ice Cube. That’s what you’d usually hear playing in his room while he’s chilling. He’d listen to DJs too, of course, but maybe to the more underrated ones. (I don’t know that many DJs so I’m not giving names) He shares Ran’s taste for Prince. As for some newer artists, I think he’d like Joji and Childish Gambino.
➼ Likes EDM but frowns upon the EDM of the early 2010s. He has pretty strong feelings about it. Never play The Chainsmokers in his presence or die.
➼ His and Ran’s music tastes overlap when it comes to indie/alternative artists. Both brothers act like snobs over it. Rindo actually buys and collects records (as you can see, he has a CD and DVD shelf in his room), searching for rare versions of his favorites and everything.
Get a feel of his music taste: You Know How We Do It - Ice Cube, Redbone - Childish Gambino, Pony - Ginuwine
SHION
➼ Metal, metalcore, punk rock, emo. Anything that includes loudness and screaming. Because of Rindo’s influence, he also got into some 90s hip hop himself. I think he’d enjoy the way someone like Eminem raps. He could never get into chill R&B though, and most pop songs are either too “happy” or too “sappy” for him and he just wants something that screams in rage most of the time.
➼ He’d enjoy Deftones’ Around The Fur album, as well as My Chemical Romance’s stuff, some Evanescence here and there (he’s had a crush on Amy Lee at some point), Bring Me The Horizon, Three Days Grace, Slipknot, and old Metallica
Get a feel of his music taste: Around The Fur - Deftones, Master of Puppets - Metallica, Na Na Na - My Chemical Romance
MOCCHI
➼ He likes hip hop/rap like Rindo so they often bond over that. Mocchi listens to both male and female rappers and will not hesitate to rap extremely explicit verses if urged. Others’ music tastes easily rub off on him, so Izana’s alternative rock, Mucho’s oldies, Shion’s metal, and Ran’s disco pop have all found a place in his playlists.
➼ The type of guy to have a Taylor Swift (he likes Back to December) or Britney Spears CD hidden somewhere in his room. Also got into One Direction at one point. If anyone asks, he’ll says it’s his girl’s or mom’s.
➼ Okay, not Western, but he listens to Kpop and Jpop and stans girl groups.
Get a feel of his music taste: No Diggity - Blackstreet, Family Affair - Mary J. Blige, Dilemma - Nelly ft. Kelly Rowland
MUCHO
➼ If Ran’s got the music taste of your mom, then Mucho’s got the music taste of your grandparents. His taste in oldies is a lot similar to Ran’s but goes further back in time. He enjoys the “classy” feel of most of these songs and the way these singers sing. His favorite genres are funk, soul, R&B, and some oldies pop.
➼ You rarely hear music playing in his house. But if you do, it might be Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Bee Gees, The Carpenters, or Simon & Garfunkel.
➼ And as for some more modern artists: Coldplay, Hozier, and Silk Sonic. Would enjoy Lana del Rey’s style too, especially her Ultraviolence songs.
Get a feel of his music taste: How Deep Is Your Love - Bee Gees, Yesterday Once More - The Carpenters, Viva La Vida - Coldplay,
KAKUCHO
➼ Kakucho listens to music to relax. He usually likes to play music while he’s cooking, cleaning, or just idling around (though that’s rare). His taste is more of chill, easy listening. Izana and Rindo influenced him to like alt-indie, R&B, and rap as well.
➼ Kaku doesn’t “stan” artists. If you ask him who his favorite artist is, you would not get an answer. He’ll listen to anything that sounds good to him no matter what people think of it.
➼ That said, he’s the person Izana makes a face at for saying that his favorite Arctic Monkeys song is “Do I Wanna Know?”
Get a feel of his music taste: Tek It - Cafuné, Clouds - BØRNS, Do I Wanna Know? - Arctic Monkeys

just remembered that gotham once did an extra long season finale and was almost reduced to tears but worry not! this one is the standard 45 minutes. let's get this shitshow on the road so I can know a little peace before I embark on the final season!
gotham 4x22
despite it all I remain emo about baby batcat. they love each other so much and so strangely. more than anything they just want to protect each other. Selina especially is always acting like Bruce's little knight in leather armor. she's everything to me.
as much as I hate Jeremiah I do think Cameron Monaghan's frankly upsettingly still face is very impressive there's some really spectacular muscle control happening here
as you all know I believe in the compliment sandwich method here so I'm going to say something nice: this show is actually right that the funniest possible context for Bruce and Ra's' relationship is that Bruce managed to kill Ra's one (1) time when he was a teenager and Ra's has been begging him to do it again ever since
the entire city's about to get blown up by a fucking clown and the Riddler is still trying to win a pissing contest with his situationship's ex boyfriend I hate him I hate him I hate him
you know what. fuck it. I'm throwing in the towel. Jim and Lee are meant to be together specifically and solely because they both have something in their pussy that makes the people they have sex with INSANE. but they cancel each other out and are able to be halfway stable together so that's probably best for the entire city.
do you think Lee and Riddleboy ever talk about the way he murdered her work friend and indirectly caused her miscarriage or
I'm so bored. I'm just bored of these people and their problems I am tired
never mind Barbara's past crimes are forgiven using a child to indirectly commit murder is so funny. an icon.
LEE THOMPKINS ALSO FORGIVEN FOR ALL CRIMES IN EXCHANGE FOR ATTEMPTING TO MURDER THE RIDDLER
genuinely one of my favorite pieces of Gotham canon is that the Riddler will inevitably kill all of his girlfriends sooner or later, a thing that at least two people who are romantically interested and/or sexually involved with him also treat as unquestioned fact
I think if this show was braver they would not have stopped at kissing after they stabbed each other. and quite frankly. that would have been the right call. show me something nasty I am tired.
Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot you duplicitous slut !!!!!!! I love you I'm so proud of you you scheming little bastard
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO when everyone else disappoints me Oswald NEVER disappoints me
I'm fucking crying throwing up shaking etc over Bruce leaving her side after he promised he wouldn't because he has an entire city to look after instead and he will!!! always!!! pick this wretched festering fucking city over everything!!! over his only friend who he is in love with even though he promised her!!! because he can't help it he has a burden the size of Gotham on his back and a heart so big that everything slips through the cracks. he's like sixteen this isn't fair :(
and she'll hate him for leaving and he'll hate himself but he wouldn't change his mind given the chance and she wouldn't change him. someone euthanize me. why are there seven minutes left of this episode when we've already had the perfect ending.
oh hey Scarecrow nice hat! you look good, buddy!
oh my GOD Barbara at it again with the white feminism. I'm exhausted. Barbara is unabsolved again. Barbara baby every problem in Gotham can not be traced back to "men" I hate this and you. "all the pain and greed comes from MEN" you kill people Barbara!!! you personally!!!
JEREMIAH'S GENERATOR BOMB THING POWERING THE FUTURE BAT SIGNAL WEE WOO WEE WOO I LOVE WHEN I'M RIGHT
OH MY GOD MAN-BAT???? YOU LOOK AWFUL HOMIE
alright kids I guess we're doing this. season 5 no man's land here we come.
after an intermission that wasn't nearly long enough, I bring you the final liveblog of season 4.
4x20
lmao blaze it
what in the off-brand Harley
god Cameron Monaghan's Mark Hamill is so good. rip king.
something actually extremely charming about Riddleboy still working the same team of hooligan kids and apparently just. completely and utterly trusting in their ability to pull off a prison break? and he's right, Gotham kids are built different. let the Riddler have a gang of ragamuffins they're the only people on earth who could possibly think he's cool.
I'm gonna say there's like. a 60% chance that Jeremiah's generator thing ends up being the Bat Signal or something. powering the Batcave maybe. it's gotta be SOMETHING come on.
I'm just going to be really real with you: whoever on the props team decided to put an ice cream cone and stickers on Jerome's notebook to make it look like a middle school girl's diary was right
Lee @ Jim:
today they forgot to put the Grundy makeup on Drew Powell's fingers
rip to Butch I guess but I really don't understand what he's mad about at this point. he's got all his memories back, he's fully articulate, he gets the added bonus of super strength. literally all that's different about him is that he's pale like boohoo dude life could be worse
straight up I have absolutely zero idea how old the Valeska twins are supposed to be. I thought Jerome was like ??? 19 but Jeremiah had a successful career as an structural engineer or something. Cameron Monaghan played them between the ages of like 21-26. genuinely 0 idea what the energy is here.
oh my god Jeremiah CHOKE you are so boring I hate your clown pussy. die die die die die die die. bitch you'll never be Jerome.
Jeremiah's fixation on being best friends with Bruce, who's like 17 at MOST, is not shedding any light on how old he's meant to be
I have spent. minutes. long ones. agonizing over the most comical way to present this information and the psychic distress that it has caused me. and there's genuinely nothing I can say that will gussy this up in a way that will adequately convey the pain I feel right now, so I'm just going to say it: Riddler's got a clown kink. canonically. I'm not extrapolating or exaggerating for comedic effect that was just. tossed out very casually. like a bowl of free chips at a Mexican restaurant. why. for whom. what godforsaken monkey on a typewriter pounded that one out.
Harvey Bullock and Nancy Pelosi have one (1) thing in common
hey so like. what the fuck is Echo's deal. what's going on there.

For the character meme, Ryuji Sakamoto and Rock Lee? (Also I took a moment to think about how they'd probably be very good friends if they were in the same franchise and for a full 10 seconds my mental illness was cured.)
YEAH THEY'RE BOTH SUCH GOOD BOYS WITH BIG FEELINGS
Ryuji
How I feel about this character
I love him I love him I love him GOD I want to give him a big ol' hug and k-kithjs his face a and cherish himand he'd make for such a good boyfriend and,,
I am not coherent even though I totally have actual Thoughts too my head is just full of loving-ryuji worms hiiiii
All the people I ship romantically with this character
I really wanted to answer this!! Everyone :D There are no bad Ryuji ships I want him to get allll the love and affection he can. In any form. I mainly ship him with Akira and sometimes Ann but yeah I can take content for any Ryuji ship that doesn't have any tropes I'm generally uncomfortable with.
My non-romantic otp for this character
Ann!! Bestiiies
My unpopular opinion about this character
So this probably isn't unpopular in the fandom but Atlus disagrees. He should be TALLER. He should be taller than Akira. Atlus let me in I'll improve your game by making Ryuji 179 or so
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon
You already know what my first pick is so let's skip to the second. I want the boat scene aftermath shot to Andromeda galaxy with no way to return why the hell did they think a victim of abuse from his dad (iirc) and coach getting beaten up by his FRIENDS, people he supposedly TRUSTED to be SAFE, was a good idea?? Talk about tone deaf oh my GOD. I get that they WERE relieved he was ok and probably still in the state of shock too but that was NOT a good way to express it. At all. And they made the protagonist just walk away too?? WHY DOES RYUJI ALWAYS GET NEGATIVE RESPECT
Lee
How I feel about this character
I would not have the energy to be around him for long irl but Lee is such an admirable character honestly. Not only the obvious hard work and kicking Gaara's ass but also how respectful and sensitive and genuine he is!! Sweetie. If anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Sakura deserves someone who CARES and we KNOW Lee would treat her right. And she respects Lee too! They would be SUCH an interesting pair but nooooooo a woman's true love is the emo kid she liked when she was 12 and has had like three positive interactions with
My non-romantic otp for this character
I like the concept of friendship within their team but they never really got many serious moments did they. Gaara and Lee would make for a fascinating duo too even if I never really got into the ship.
My unpopular opinion on this character
I used to think finding Lee cool was unpopular but then I joined tumblr so I don't think I have anything left lmao
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon
More moments outside battle where he's taken seriously. Lee is largely just comic relief :/
Character meme ♡
#asks#anon#THANK YOUUUUU FOR SENDING THEM!!#i wish i had the mental energy to talk about what ryuji really means to me outside wanting to be his#his uh#i don't know what word to use#like his girlfriend except I'm not a girl. girlfriend as a role not as a gender. do i believe in that#i want to be his 💖 and for him to lift me off the ground when he hug and to cuddle up watching a stupid movie and to introduce him to my pa#yeah#lee was the love interest to my naruto oc in high school jjfddbjdbjl#you hit the goldmine with these two anon#ryuji sakamoto#rock lee#sorry for the ss hate;; I'm not proud of the person i become near them

books i actually like
A solid 97% of my ‘book reviews’ (for lack of a better term) are bound to be just me bitching about said book for way too long with way too many expletives, because books I genuinely adore rarely invoke the visceral reaction within me that causes so many of my ‘reviews’ of books I don’t like to be so impassioned and long-winded. Here’s to kicking this dumpster fire off with a little positivity, because that will be little and far in between henceforth.
Harry Potter – J. K. Foul Thing I never understood how someone could appreciate the art and not the artist until Harry Potter. JKR’s dead to me, but the seven original (and only, because I refuse to accept the flaming pile of dog shit that was The Cursed Child as canon) books remain i c o n i c. And you’ll probably witness a LOT of Harry Potter-inspired shitposting on my part if you decide to stick around, because Harry Potter trivia makes up a solid chunk of my personality, and I like to shove my fandoms in other people’s faces. Again, I’m cute like that.
The Diary of a Young Girl – Anne Frank By some odd coincidence, my mum got me Anne Frank’s diary for my 13th birthday, and I always felt like a Super Special Snowflake because of that. Obviously, I can’t relate to being Jewish and in hiding during WWII, but there’s a lot of Anne’s views and thoughts that… resonated with me (ain’t that the most basic-ass description of a book, ever). There’s always the lingering sadness while reading because you know how her story comes to an end, but it’s a book that’s still stuck with me six years later, and for the rest of my mortal life.
The Book Thief – Markus Zusak Why Must I Adore Books That Give Me Naught but Pain: An Autobiography.
Freak the Mighty – Rodman Philbrick Ditto.
Bad Alice – Jean Ure When I first saw the cover, I expected a lighthearted, cheery book. I was very much mistaken. Duffy, a self-proclaimed ‘oddball’, and Alice, another self-proclaimed ‘oddball’, are easily two of my favorite fictional characters, ever. The subject matter is pretty damn dark and rereading the book as an adult is actually kind of scary, but it’s so well-written and engaging and this sounds like I’m an elementary school teacher writing a report card so I’m just gonna stop here.
Tiger Eyes – Judy Blume A true Relic of the angst-riddled phase of my adolescence (I say as if I am not still going through said angst-riddled phase). I’ve been a fan of Judy Blume’s work since one of the girls in my third-grade class bestowed upon me Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing; growing up, I’ve become more detached from Blume’s work but Tiger Eyes is a book that’s never gotten old for me. Davey, the angst-riddled adolescent protagonist, is also stubborn and headstrong and angry and scarily relatable to myself at her age, though under wildly different circumstances.
Changeling – Philippa Gregory I’ve read a couple of Goodreads reviews on the Order of Darkness series, and I’ve garnered that Philippa Gregory fans (Philippans? Philipinos?) are not fans of the series. I can’t vouch for that, given that I’ve only ever read the said series, and I’m admittedly not a fan of books two through four (which is basically every book of the series published to date, exempting the first), but Changeling is a book I liked enough to attempt to handwrite it in a notebook back when I was 12 (I gave up after, like, two sentences because my hand started cramping), and also to try and write a ripoff, featuring an angsty young preteen girl with (short) wavy black hair and eyes like limpid tears (gee, I wonder who that could be) (my eyes are brown, though; I dunno why I wrote the self-insert to be blue-eyed).
The Secret History – Donna Tartt My first foray into dark academia; sadly, reading The Secret History before any other books in the (sub?)genre made every other book pale in comparison. What’s so special about The Secret History for me is that I hate every main character, with passion. Each and every one of them; not just Bunny, but Richard and Henry and Charles and Camilla and Francis and Julian can all go fuck themselves for all I care- but I find them so fascinating. The story and the way it’s written is pretty over-the-top dramatic and my struggling bilingual arse had to look up every tenth word or so, but I adore it with every fibre of my being. Well, the leftover fibres of my being that aren’t simping over Kim Seungmin.
A Series of Unfortunate Events – Lemony Snicket Does this count as the first step of my emo phase? Shoutout to the girl in seventh grade I sat next to for, like, two weeks, who lent me The Wide Window and got me hooked on the series.
Alice in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll This entire book feels so trippy.
The Secret Garden – Frances Hodgson Burnett It’s corny and Everything Works Out Swell for the Goody Guys in the End! in period-typical book fashion, but it got me through many a boring class in the spring of my ninth year of personhood, so I’ll always have a soft spot for Mary and Dickon and Colin and the rest of the gang. It also inspired me to Cultivate, and there are two pretty bougainvillea plants in my garden thanks to one Mary Lennox.
The Miseducation of Cameron Post – Emily M. Danforth Cameron Post: the lesbian baddie we all aspire to be.
Vicky Angel – Jacqueline Wilson Yet another shoutout to my seventh-grade seatmate for lending me her copy of Vicky Angel, which I read under my covers like it was a bloody nudie mag.
A Song of Ice and Fire – George R. R. Martin Where’s Winds of Winter, George?
Turtles All the Way Down – John Green Paper Towns used to be my favorite John Green book until I read Turtles All the Way Down last year. I adore John Green’s writing style (maybe not the #deep #woke #sadboi #middleclass #white #male #cisgender #heterosexual #personalityofabreadroll leads in a solid chunk of his books, though) and okay, so maybe Davis fits all of the above, but my true faves are Aza and Daisy and their dynamic.
To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee I keep calling this ‘HOW to Kill a Mockingbird’ in conversations and it gets really fucking inconvenient.
Coraline – Neil Gaiman I just wish I’d read this sooner than I did.

Author Interview: Victoryindeath2 (by TolkienGirl)
Thank you @thelonelybrilliance!
1. What fanfic trope do you think the AU has a unique spin on and why?
So seven card stud is the best and funniest strip poker/crossdressing fic you will ever find.
Definitely love how we grow the found family trope, particularly in regards to Maedhros and Gwindor, which I shall say more on in the question below. It is our own platonic version of the ships passing in the night trope—Maedhros and Gwindor are never mentioned as having met in canon, let alone spoken of in any way that might hint at their having any basis for friendship. I myself have never read any fics where there was any sort of bond between them. However, all of the authors love canon Gwindor greatly, and he fit so well into our plans and now has became more important and dear than we could ever imagine, so much so that I have to stop and remind myself that Maedhros and Gwindor are not brotp in canon. It’s honestly one of my favorite departures from the original Silm!
2. What are your three favorite friendships between people who are NOT related to each other?
My most FAVORITE friendship between unrelated characters is unquestionably the friendship between Maedhros and Gwindor. Maedhros gives Gwindor hope, freedom, and another little brother to love and guard, and Gwindor gives his Russandol the older brother he never had, good simple understanding without judgment, a care that doesn’t yield to Maedhros’s judgement of himself and fights against Maedhros’s frequent (understandable) self-pity and self-hatred. They could not have made it out of the thrall camp without each other, nor saved as many people as they did. Even now, Maedhros is one of the few solid good things Gwindor has to steady himself with as he tries to adjust to a world where he is not a slave, Maedhros is the person who turns Gwindor’s words back on him to say, you must think better of yourself! And Gwindor is now, as he was back in the thrall camp, the hand that Maedhros can bear to cling to when he is most hurt, frightened, and sad.
Ah...sometimes I like to dream about Gwindor getting to be an older brother figure to Mae back in Formenos and city days...the things that might have changed for the better...
There are many other good friendships but two in particular stand out: Finrod and Beren and Haleth and Luthien. Beren has lost his whole family and people, has suffered injury and been an outcast, thrown out of Doriath, separated from the young woman he loves, and here comes Finrod, some pretty boy from back East who has lots of noble ideas in his head, probably an awful lot of naivety at their meeting, but also a brave, loyal, laughing heart. So far we haven’t explored their friendship in as much detail as some relationships, but rest assured that....it will feature heavily in the future. I really hope that we can drop in little stories of their early friendship as we go along. For now, the fic Clarity has some of my favorite moments between them! I am very excited for the future with them!
As for Haleth and Luthien—well they are such contrasts aren’t they? Haleth, grim, younger than Luthien but more versed in the cruelty of the world, and Luthien, bright and eager to go out into the world and find Beren, unafraid for now of what it might have in store for her and her loved ones. They are both strong-willed, determined young women though, and I adore every moment between them. Haleth, always bringing what word she can of Beren to Luthien, protecting her secret, teaching her to fight, being slightly taken aback at the thought that yes, Luthien is her friend. And Luthien having nothing but respect for Haleth. The most recent fic between them was honestly the sweetest, cutest thing!
3. What is a “missing scene” that you wish could be written into the AU during the past year (1852)?
You know what I would want? A little scene between Fingolfin and Finrod, set after Maedhros has been rescued and Fingolfin is very tired and Finrod tries to tell him to go to bed or something and then Fingolfin confesses that he misses his brother Finarfin very much and then probably apologizes because of course Finrod must miss his father greatly and he shouldn’t have brought up the subject but Finrod is like, it’s okay, and then encourages Fingolfin to tell stories about their boyhood together, and it’s all sort of soft and sad and healing for the both of them <3
4. Which character has made you cry the most as a reader and/or writer?
As a reader? Ahahaha Maedhros wins by a long shot. I cried so many times during his Angband days, but also in fics both in Mithrim and Formenos, when he was younger and had no idea of what was in store for him. Shoutout to any soft scene between him and his brothers, particular him and Maglor. Give me them holding each other or playing with each other’s hair while being sad and I just—weep. I am not so good at regulating my emotions lol
As a writer, well, I don’t usually cry over my own works, but recently I got very emo when re-reading of the armature and the reinforcement (let us move lightly). It’s hard to see young happy recently-married Feanor and Nerdanel, with baby Maitimo on the way, and to know how Feanor will change and their family will fall apart in years to come. Also, I played myself by having the actor Lee Joon Gi in mind as a model for young Feanor’s mannerisms :/
5. Update us on the state of Caranthir’s kitchen and garden.
If this is a poorly concealed “where the heck is that fic you have been promising us,” well, I stick my tongue out at you.
Jk I’m gonna go work on it after I finish these questions lol. Let’s just say that with everything happening right now, Caranthir has probably been stress cleaning the kitchen, and it would be immaculate if it weren’t for certain people being difficult. As for the garden, if you think its crooked layout does not bother Caranthir at least once per day, you would be wrong. I’m sure that in a month or so he is going to want to dig the whole thing up and get out little stakes and strings and drive everyone crazy by being extremely particular about the makeover.
Bonus: Describe what would happen if Gwindor met Feanor
OH MAN OH MAN. GWINDOR WOULD FULFILL MY FANTASY OF GIVING THAT MAN A FIST TO THE FACE
I mean look I have this strange love for Feanor and he is tragic in many ways and I mourn his loss and the person he could have been and sometimes was, but also—
He was a terrible dad. As we have all seen. As Gwindor has sussed out and had some confirmation of. If the Gwindor of right now could go back in time and meet Feanor sticking needles into Mae, I’m pretty sure he would have murdered him then and there, or at least, beat him into the ground and then been like, hello Nerdanel, ma’am, I am your eldest son’s guardian angel in the flesh and I am moving in with you to be a barrier between him and his dad and if he so much as looks at Mae wrong I will throw him in his own forge fire.
If the Gwindor of right now could meet a resurrected Feanor—things would be bloody and Feanor would be told what for in the strongest of terms probably while being shoved against a wall, an arm against his neck, and then Gwindor would be like cool now that you understand just how terrible of a person you are and how you should probably burn in hellfire, you can go to Maedhros and beg his forgiveness and tell him how is a much better person that you ever were or could be and that it is up to him to ask you to stick around even though I, Gwindor, would prefer you to never see him again, but like, Maedhros probably wouldn’t want that so I will have to deal and you will have to shape up or I will ship you out
GET YOU A FRIEND LIKE GWINDOR
#author interviews#gold rush AU#the silmarillion#q&a#I talk a lot about Gwindor in this and that is right and just

10. characters that deserved worse? >:]
the ending for ozai was poetic justice at its finest and i wouldn’t change anything for aang (I am firmly in the camp of ‘asking a twelve year old to murder someone is fucked up, let alone a twelve year old pacifist genocide survivor’) but ozai deserved to get stabbed once or twice. maybe more than twice. more like twelve hundred times. preferably iroh (or ursa) doing the stabbing. again, asking someone to kill their father... big ask, not sure i’d *want* to put that on zuko or azula even though they have the full right to stab him. (but if they want, zuko and azula can stab ozai a little. as a treat.)
also i feel like iroh and ursa, speak of the devils, deserved to be put through the wringer more for their actions respectively, they’re far more morally grey than their canonical outcomes / character arcs suggest, and have things to atone for.
18. characters you want to wrap in a blanket and tell them they’re going to be okay?
oh like all of the gaang at various points?? they all need that, i think. azula as well. and mai and ty lee. basically every child in the show deserves this? where are their parents? there are so many absent/missing parents in the show and it’s heart-breaking (but makes sense given the context).
20. name a song that reminds you heavily of a specific fandom or character.
My Exit, Unfair - mewithoutYou
youtube
This is one of my favourite 00s post-hardcore/emo songs. This song is quite biblical (but everything mewithoutYou makes is religious on some level) but I think this could apply equally to Zuko during his banishment period/season one as much as it could apply to Azula in a post-finale situation where she’s broken out of the palace and has ran off on an Azula Alone solo adventure, and is still licking her wounds about all that has happened.
My exit, unobserved and my homesickness, absurd,
^ the first (and most key) line I think applies more to Azula, in a scenario where she’s snuck out of the palace, (and homesickness would be abusrd because it’s Zuko’s palace now, she lost, he won, why would she want that?) but there’s a certain righteous indignation in the refrain ‘my exit, unfair and unobserved’ which can apply to both. Certainly ‘my exit, unfair’ is very Zuko.
I said "Water," expecting the word would satisfy my thirst. Talking all about the second and third, When I haven't understood the first.
^ this is very S1 Zuko, that obstinate impatience is very him, and racing ahead to things that he can’t yet grasp yet while still struggling with the basics? Zuko.
Jonah, where's that boat going-- Your ship set with eager sails? There's a swirling storm soon blowing, And no use, fishermen, in rowing from the consecrated whale! Just like the clouds, they bring a darkness and a hard rain's gonna fall, I felt the crowds bring a loneliness and a hard rain's gonna fall.
All the rain and storm references, while a clear reference to the biblical story of Jonah (I’m not good with my bible idk how far this would apply), also are a clear reminder, for me, of Zuko travelling for years out at sea. Two of Zuko’s most dramatic and conflicted moments happen during a storm – the first of which flashbacks to the event of Zuko’s exit, like, it’s just too fitting honestly?
She always weighed me down, But afraid I might need her, I dragged her around. It's best to keep close sackcloth and ash in a whitewashed town. She wore that phony smile on her face, I guess like a bandage on a wounded place, While I kept the keys to every old lock just in case.
^ ‘She’ here is Ursa, or the memory of her. This obviously works more for Azula (though I could also see Zuko maybe expressing some of this as an adult after he has worked through his idealisation for his mother and realised he’s far more conflicted about her leaving than he imagined). “afraid I might need her, I dragged her around” reminds me specifically of how Azula interacts with the memory of Ursa during the mirror scene in Sozin’s comet.
Oh, the clouds they brought a darkness and a hard rain's gonna fall, And all my laughter ends in emptiness and a hard rain's gonna fall, My every medicine causes more illness and a hard rain's gonna fall.
These lines are just emo as shit if I’m honest and reminds me of Zuko’s “everything bad happens to me, I have the worst luck” etc. mindset if I’m honest. But honestly, I could see Azula, “I’m a monster” expressing this at her lowest point, the idea that she only brings ruin hits in these lines too.
But now I spend my days in ever-increasingly complicated ways Convincing myself of the rightness of each word I say
^ could apply to either of them, stubbornly in denial about the wrong direction of their path, having a more and more difficult time justfying themselves and their actions when it just becomes more evident (through travelling and seeing how their actions have affected the world) that they were in the wrong.
The final lines of this, interestingly, are a common islamic prayer. Interestingly, this song is about the singer’s mother (which makes the fact that ‘she’ could be Ursa just more apt honestly), who is a Sufi Muslim, I believe, and this prayer was commonly recited by her to the singer? Anyway the fact that the song ends with both a desperate prayer and a memory of their mother is very poignant I think.

(Gonna try and mix things up) Gimme your thoughts on The Last Airbender!
I GASPED OUT LOUD, I’M SO EXCITED!!
Favorite character: katara and toph and mai!!! ursa!!! iroh!!!!zuko!!!!!!!!!!
Least Favoritecharacter: I don’t think I liked ty lee very much when I firstwatched it but she grew on me over time, and I haven’t rewatched itin a while so I can’t think of a character I really don’tlike?????? everybody has their own specific charm!!! or is at leastinteresting in their place in the story!!! (jet frustrated me a lot,but man his arc was something else and kind of made up for it.)sozin, maybe?? because that part where he straight-up left roku todie still fucking rattles me. oh wait!!! THE GURU. he alwaysirritates me. that he insists you would have to give up earthlyattachments in order to Do The Thing but the whole point, of so manythings, is how much more you can achieve with love and thoseattachments
5 Favorite ships(canon or non-canon): you know I don’t think I ever really supershipped anything for avatar???? zuko/mai probably and i’ve comearound to zuko/katara. my ships for avatar are veryuncreative. it’s never been something where I felt the need toreally think about shipping!!!
Character I findmost attractive: my inner 13 year old still insists zuko, and Iagree, but sokka has a good charm about him. but also???????LONGSHOT.
Character I wouldmarry: it’s also probably still zuko. I have always loved the emokid, it’s an unending thing, apparently. it’s still my firstinstinct.
Character I would bebest friends with: oh man okay so who wouldn’t just want to be bestfriends with iroh. like I could easily pick katara because we bothhave Fervent Control Issues and would therefore DEFINITELY get alongand I could also want to pick mai because she’s always been myfavorite and goth girls unite, but I love iroh with all my heart andI just wanna sit around and drink tea with him
a random thought:here’s a story; I didn’t go to school dances in middle schoolbecause 1) i’m not a dancing person so why would I go???? but also2) they were friday nights and friday nights new episodes of avatar were on,and this was season 3 so shit was getting REAL and I was NOT gonnamiss it, but one of my friends convinced me to go to the winter danceand I was like ‘huh it looks like there’s not a new episode onthat night!! alright sure whatever’ and as it turns OUT there HADbeen a new episode on that night (‘the western air temple’) and Iwas DEVASTATED.
additional thought –I think every single day of my life I spend a moment thinking aboutthe sheer greatness of “give him a left, left!” “it’s not afistfight!” “he’s got a left sword, don’t he?” (nothing will ever ever top how great ‘zuko alone’ is.)
An unpopularopinion: idk I thought roku being zuko’s other great-grandfatherwas a little weird but I guess I can dig it
My Canon OTP: notthat it’s an otp but I don’t necessarily MIND aang and katara???but i’ve grown to like it less over time. again, my shipping gamefor avatar is fairly non-existent. the nomad couple, probably!!!chong and lily!!! from the cave of two lovers!!!! I love those nomadsso so much.
My Non-canon OTP:you know what??? i’m gonna say this counts here and I just hopelongshot and smellerbee are happy. not that I ship them together atall, cause I don’t, but I just, hope they’re doing okay outthere, after everything. (also that girl zuko and iroh stole theostrich horses from)
Most BadassCharacter: TOPH FUCKING BEIFONG
Most Epic Villain: Imean you’re never gonna get a better arc than azula’s.
Pairing I am not afan of: never really saw the appeal of sokka and toph cause I thoughtthere was just a little too much space between them
Character I feel thewriters screwed up (in one way or another): I really haven’t rewatchedavatar in a WHILE and I feel like if I had i’d be able to have ananswer to this but right now I can’t think of anything they reallysuper super super screwed up?????? like at a cursory backwards glancethere’s nothing I wasn’t satisfied with. (the comics, though……….iwas always kind of eh when I read about what happened to ursa)
FavouriteFriendship: toph and katara is real good!! so is mai and ty lee!!!aang and zuko is also great!!!!! the whole gaang together!!!!
Character I mostidentify with: it’s probably katara, BUT ALSO????? THAT BA SING SEGIRL WHO HAD THAT CRUSH ON ZUKO
Character I wish Icould be: this is because I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wanted to be anairbender, so i’m gonna, skip right into legend of korra and sayjinora

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 12/12/2020
For the first time ever after being released in 1994, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” has hit #1 on the UK Singles Chart, like it did on the US Billboard Hot 100 last year and will probably do so this year. This is a really short week full of nothing so that might be the biggest story here, and the song deserves it. It’s a great song and it’s genuinely massive. I wonder how newer songs like Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath the Tree” will be able to enter themselves into the Christmas canon after Mariah Carey proved that it can be done with modern pop. Well, that’s not for us to find out today, because this is REVIEWING THE CHARTS.
Rundown
Like I said in the introduction, this is far from a busy week, which almost surprises me. Sure, nothing important was released – except that Shawn Mendes album which flopped remarkably and debuted at #12 on the Albums Chart this week – but I did expect another festive flood of holiday tunes. To my surprise, this didn’t happen or at least not to the extent that I assumed it would. Sure, we still have a lot of Christmas songs replacing newer pop songs that had already been in the charts, ‘tis the season, but this week only had five notable drop-outs from the UK Top 75, and none of those are that notable. I guess “Ain’t it Different” by Headie One featuring AJ Tracey and Stormzy, one of the biggest hip-hop hits of the year, dropping out is a pretty big deal, but otherwise we just have “Diamonds” by Sam Smith, “UFO” by D-Block Europe and Aitch, “Come Over” by Jorja Smith and Popcaan, and I guess “Chingy (It’s Whatever)” by Digga D. All of these songs are recent and might have a rebound after the Christmas season is over, but I do have my concerns about the longevity of these songs, particularly because of how, you know, none of them are actually good. I guess now we could discuss some of our biggest fallers, which are of some quantity considering the season, so I’ll run these off quickly: “Midnight Sky” by Miley Cyrus at #15, “Therefore I Am” by Billie Eilish at #18, “Levitating” by Dua Lipa at #20, “you broke me first” by Tate McRae at #21 (these last four songs were all in the top 10 last week, by the way), “Prisoner” by Miley Cyrus featuring Dua Lipa at #22, “Really Love” by KSI featuring Craig David and Digital Farm Animals at #31, “Monster” by Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber continuing to free-fall to #33, “Train Wreck” by James Arthur at #35, “Get Out My Head” by Shane Codd at #37, “Mood” by 24kGoldn and iann dior at #38, “Head & Heart” by Joel Corry and MNEK at #40, “Lemonade” by Internet Money and Gunna featuring NAV and Don Toliver at #45, “Dynamite” by BTS at #46, “Lonely” by Justin Bieber and benny blanco at #52, “See Nobody” by Wes Nelson and Hardy Caprio at #54, “i miss u” by Jax Jones and Au/Ra at #56, “What You Know Bout Love” by the late Pop Smoke at #57, “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)” by Post Malone and Swae Lee at #61, “All You’re Dreaming Of” by Liam Gallagher off the debut at #62 (our biggest fall this week), same goes for “No Time for Tears” by Nathan Dawe and Little Mix at #71 and some long-lasting hits right at the tail end of the chart: “Princess Cuts” by Headie One featuring Young T & Bugsey at #72, “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion at #73, and “Looking for Me” by Diplo, Paul Woodford and Kareen Lomax at #74. We do have a lot of Christmas gains and returning entries, so before we get to anything non-Christmas, let’s round off those real quick. Returning to the chart are “Santa’s Coming for Us” by Sia at #69, “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!” by Frank Sinatra at #66 and “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby at #63. There are a lot more of our notable gains though: “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Sam Smith at #65, “Cozy Little Christmas” by Katy Perry at #58, “Love is a Compass” by Griff at #53, “Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano at #51, “Christmas Lights” by Coldplay at #49 (the biggest gain and deservedly so), “Santa Baby” by Kylie Minogue at #44, “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!” by Dean Martin at #43, “Sleigh Ride” by the Ronettes at #41, “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber at #36, “Wonderful Christmastime” by Paul McCartney at #32, “Holly Jolly Christmas” by Michael Bublé at #30, “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” by John Lennon and Yoko Ono with the Plastic Ono Band featuring the Harlem Community Choir at #29, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams at #28, “Merry Xmas Everybody” by Slade at #26, “One More Sleep” by Leona Lewis at #25, “Driving Home for Christmas” by Chris Rea at #17, “This Christmas” by Jess Glynne at #13, “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande at #11, “Step into Christmas” by Elton John at #10, “Do They Know it’s Christmas?” by Band Aid at #8, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé at #7 and finally, “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens at #6. That’s not all of our gains and returning entries though, as we do have some peculiar events outside of the Christmas singles. First of all, “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd is up to #39 thanks to a remix with ROSALIA, and secondly, “WITHOUT YOU” by The Kid LAROI returns to the chart at #23. I have no idea why or how this happened but I want it gone as quickly as possible. Anyway, we have three new arrivals to talk about, none of which are particularly interesting, so let’s get on with those.
NEW ARRIVALS
#75 – “Real Stuff” – Juice WRLD and benny blanco
Produced by Dylan Brady, Jack Karaszewski, Henry Kwapis, Cashmere Cat and benny blanco
The song’s not called “Real Stuff”, but come on, this is a family show. About a year ago, Jarad Higgins, or Juice WRLD, died tragically at age 21 of a substance abuse-related seizure. Naturally, since it’s Juice and his label we’re talking about, they’re still pumping out unreleased content. Two songs of this nature were released around this time, one with Kid LAROI and Kim Petras we’ll probably see next week and even higher on the chart, but first of all, an emo rap anthem produced by benny blanco and Dylan Brady of 100 gecs. I mean, okay, sure, it is 2020 after all. Blanco posted on social media about how this was his first ever recorded song with Juice when they had a studio session before Juice was that recognised, and before he was signed, they cooked up a lot of music. This makes it surprising how it didn’t leak after all this time but it shouldn’t matter. What’s important is the quality of the song and since this is a genuine song from a real-life studio session, it’s not nearly as insincere and cynical as some of the other posthumous projects from Juice. Sadly, I don’t this makes it any good. The clicking, stuttering trap beat doesn’t sound bad with his bumping 808s but doesn’t complement the acoustic guitar strumming or even Juice as much as it should – and this is really early Juice, so it’s not like he’s mastered his style of emo-reminiscent self-loathing and painful, drug-induced relationship ramblings. It’s not even as catchy as Juice would start to be later on, so it is just a primitive version of whatever Juice’s sound would end up being. Sadly, we won’t get more development from the guy other than these cheap releases, and if benny blanco guided Juice more into a lane he’s comfortable with and more importantly, Juice was still alive, this could be an example of something great yet to flourish but since his incomplete discography of disposable output is all we have to evaluate, it makes Juice’s work much more difficult to appreciate, especially posthumously, where every throwaway bar about substance abuse has this haunting, unnerving impact it didn’t have before. Oh, and I really like the first verse, which is just aimless flexing but with more charm than he usually has, and with some promises of extra detail he could have gone into, before of course, it switches onto a different topic, an issue plaguing much of the man’s work. In conclusion, the song is fine but I don’t think I can listen to Juice’s work, complete or incomplete, released when he was alive or scrambled posthumously, without feeling sad or just having this contempt for the yes-men who surrounded him. Rest in peace, Juice.
#67 – “Oh Santa!” – Mariah Carey
Remixed by Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson
Produced by Scott M. Riesett, Marc Shaiman and Daniel Moore II
“Oh Santa!” is an original Christmas tune Mariah Carey wrote and released with Jermaine Dupri in 2010, for her second Christmas album, aptly titled Merry Christmas II You. The song wasn’t a success, and it couldn’t live up to “All I Want for Christmas is You”, which is fine. We don’t need more Mariah Carey songs in the Christmas canon if we already have an absolutely perfect one at the top of the charts, but if she wants to start flooding the market, I guess it’s best to do it with two experts at vocals, because for her little Apple TV Christmas special, she’s bought along Jennifer Hudson and Ariana Grande for whatever the triple version of a duet is. I assumed this would have been a returning entry because it’s a remix but the original never charted in the UK so I’ll have to talk about both here, and, well, there’s a reason “All I Want for Christmas is You” has never been replicated in terms of success and just sheer quality. I talked about this on my best list but there’s never been a song I feel is so ubiquitous of modern Christmas in the current millennium than “All I Want for Christmas is You”, an outright rejection of festive commercialism in preference of just having her significant other around for the holidays. “Oh Santa!” has a similar presence, but in this one, Mariah Carey’s asking for Santa Claus himself to wrap her crush in wrapping paper and gift it to her for Christmas, with a lot less of the warm intimacy of the classic song and without any of the charm. The 2010 version has this really gross drum machine and a lot of cheerleader-type chanting and clapping that starts off as really ugly – and the chanting still is – but honestly makes a pretty good backing for Mariah sliding over the beat with vocals that may not be as impressive as her best but are just as smooth as they should be over a more coy, low-key festive instrumental. My main issue with it is pace because whilst it is a short song, and she does treat us to some whistle notes and runs by the end, it just fades out and the instrumental doesn’t feel like it goes anywhere, making this song sound slow as all hell. If anything, this remix sounds dated, especially with the more modern vocal production with Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson, both in a constant struggle with Mariah for getting a word in, to the point where Hudson over-sells her belting and Grande is the only voice recognisable enough here that actually works. Half way in, the song completely devolves into a bridge of aimless runs and “harmonising” from everyone with that ugly chanting, seemingly unchanged from the original. Yeah, this isn’t pretty, and if anything is a remix of an older song that needed a lot more updates to make it work in a 2020 context and fits all of these incredible vocalists in. This could have been great with an original song that was completed to flatter everyone, but there’s too many cooks in the Christmas kitchen here and the cookies being made are being overcooked. Sure, let’s go with that analogy. Next.
#59 – “Daily Duppy – Part 1” – Digga D
Produced by AceBeatz
It’s not uncommon for freestyles to chart in the UK, particularly important British hip-hop tastemaker GRM Daily and their “Daily Duppy” freestyles, which have been the break-out moment for many rappers like Aitch or DIgDat because they reach a level of viral fame and attention that music videos can’t do as well, mostly because of the platform just letting them spit bars over usually decent beats. Digga D was actually opposed to doing one and even sparked some kind of feud with GRM Daily but that dried up soon enough for him to provide them with two “Daily Duppy” freestyles on two different beats but with one cold verse each. Only the first part charted here, as you’d expect, but I’ll cover both. The first part, produced by Ace Beats, has a pretty nice pitch-shifted vocal sample quickly abandoned for the same sample pitched differently, and then it comes back, under a pretty messy drill beat, and whilst Digga D’s riding it really well, I find it hard to be convinced by his delivery here, which is either checked-out or edited so heavily it’s bizarre. I mean, I thought this was a freestyle, right? He can just spit bars over the beat and it’ll be fine, but they add all these stuttering effects, ad-libs and censors that censor pointless words like “juice” but keep actual vulgarities completely intact, as well as censoring some locations but not others. It takes me out of the whole verse, honestly, even if some of it is some pretty slick and nice wordplay, with some funny punchlines and the typical pop culture references you can expect from the more lighthearted of UK drill. I know that people like to make references to their guns in ways that make them even more threatening and eerie, but just like 21 Savage calling his Draco a paedophile, I don’t think Digga D saying that he grooms young ethnic minority boys to sell drugs is “hard” or even enjoyable. I just think it’s pretty awful. I said I’d talk about the second part here, but honestly, it’s a lot less interesting, with a more trap-adjacent beat and boring synths instead of the cool vocal sample. Admittedly, it sounds more like a “freestyle”, but he wastes the moment where the beat cuts out by just rapping filler, and the quarantine references are going to date this, so, yeah, whilst I’m impressed by Digga D’s flow switches here, I’m not a fan of really anything else.
Conclusion
There’s not enough here to give an Honourable or Dishonourable Mention, so I’ll just have to give out the big ones... but everything here is mediocre, so I’m left with not a lot of content at all. I guess Best of the Week can go to the late Juice WRLD and benny blanco for “Real Stuff”, almost purely out of respect, even if the song is just listenable. Worst of the Week was really a toss-up, but I think I’ll give it to “Oh Santa!” by Mariah Carey featuring Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson for being such a waste of talent and potential. Only time will tell what comes next week, but I predict a busy one with Christmas music, Taylor Swift and hopefully Kid Cudi, but we’ll see really. I’m going to hazard a guess that we’ll get at least two songs from Taylor and only the Skepta track from Cudi, but I think we could easily have three from each. Here’s this week’s top 10:

Thor Ragnarok - a sort-of review.
Obviously, spoilers here!!! Don’t read until you watched the movie yourself or you don’t mind having most of the movie revealed.
First of all, I’d like to mention that I got opportunity to watch this movie in 4D. I won’t refer if the technology itself was good or bad (bc it depends on the cinema, not the movie itself), but it allowed me to engage more into this story than 2D or even 3D.
Things I actually enjoyed:
1. HELA. Oh, good Lord, Hela was the most badass female character I’ve seen. We don’t see enough of female villains which is a shame. Cate Blanchett owned it. Hela was so powerful. Threatening. Beatuiful. Terrifying. Her seidr skills were absolutely amazing (even if a little op? *cough* mjollnir *cough*). I disagree with her backstory, but 10/10 would kneel to the Goddess of Death.
2. Thor and Loki being heroes. Together. Kind of fighting side by side and kinda not? It was a strange dynamic but overall it fitted them. They didn’t get along, there was a lot of bad blood between them but it felt like a beginning of something new.
3. Heimdall! My golden-eyed bae. He was a quiet hero, saving lives of hundereds, never for glory but simply because he knew it was right thing to do. Two previous movies didn’t care much for him, but I’m glad he got his chance to shine.
4. The Grandmaster. I think Jeff Goldblum really loved this character and had a lot of fun during the making of the movie. He was so comfortable playing this gold-clad, face-painted weirdo. He was able to make the character not just comedic, but also threatening. Silly as the Grandmaster seemed, he was not a guy you wanted to mess with.
5. Friendship between Hulk and Valkyrie. Yes, wow, there was something I actually liked as far as Hulk is concerned even though I always hated this character.
6. Valkyrie. Ex-valkyrie with terrible past and drinking addiction. I think she was refreshing in a sense that she was completely not what I expected she would be. Valkyrie is incredibly skilled warrior and she’s remarkably smart. The creators didn’t try to cover up she’s been through some terrible events in her life. They didn’t try to cover up her drinking habit, either. It’s not often to see addiction and ptsd/depression showed so boldly, especially in female character.
7. Loki’s powers. I had a sort-of personal headcanon where my muse learned to manipulate other’s minds without the mind stone. I was right! Loki was even powerful enough to contain Odin’s powers. He was enough to revive Surtr! And not the weakened Surtr from the beginning of the movie - he was a full-fledged GOD you would imagine, as huge as Asgard’s palace itself and powerful enough to destroy it completely.
8. Stan Lee’s cameo. LOVED IT.
Things I didn’t enjoy:
1. I still think the Hulk/Bruce was wholly unnecessary for the movie’s plot and the Sakaarian’s glorification of Hulk was annoying. Yes, Marvel, I remember your unloved green baby, but I still don’t like him so stop pushing me to. Not to mention Hulk is super op. HE IS STILL ONLY A HUMAN, GAMMA RADIATION OR NOT. HE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DEFEAT LOKI OR THOR.
2. Loki being afraid of Hulk. Like, the honest fuck??? LOKI IS A SEIDRMADR. LOKI IS A WARRIOR. HE’S BEEN AROUND FOR A THOUSAND YEARS BEFORE HULK. EVEN IF HE WAS DEFEATED, I THINK LOKI WOULD AVENGE THIS SLIGHT.
3. The scene. The fucking cringy, dumb scene with theatre play of Loki and Thor. I just facepalmed throughout the entriety of it. It was unbearable to watch. I know it was supposed to be funny, but it was just cringy and stupid. No one even laughed at it. While I admit Loki WOULD make a big-ass golden statue of himself, this was just too much. If he wanted to make Asgardians remember him as a hero, he would be much smarter about it.
4. The whole “Loki is just dumb and stupid and he can’t do anything correctly” shebang. Staaahp... Loki is more than god of tricks. He’s god of lies, deception. THE Silvertongue. THE smartest guy among Asgardians, according to the myths.
5. Thor humiliating Loki. Multiple times.
6. Thor bashing Hulk for no fucking reason.
7. Thor being smartass, sassy fuck who thinks he knows everything better and who will always win just because he’s Thor Odinson, duh.
8. Thor acting like a two-faced bitch between Hulk and Bruce, making each believe he likes them more than the other.
9. Thor manipulating his friend into helping him, knowing that Bruce might not come back after he becomes Hulk again.
10. It seems like mature Thor we got in TDW went off to take a holiday break when this asshole Thor replaced him and is having the time of his life.
11. WHY DID YOU KILL OFF THE WARRIORS THREE? WHY DID THEY DIE LIKE THEY WERE NOTHING? WHY THOR NEVER ASKED ABOUT HIS BEST FRIENDS?
12. WHERE. IS. SIF?!
13. The whole Stephen Strange scene was unnecessary. Like... what the fuck. It felt so out of the blue and confusing.
14. What was that will ALL. THAT. SWEARING. Idk if it was just polish version of the movie, but there was just so much swearing? To the point I felt uncomfortable even though I like to throw some juicy cuss words? There were parents with kids watching the movie and I heard how displeased they were.
Things I’m not sure about:
1. Odin being a good papa to Loki. Odin put him in jail before and disowned him. Then, Loki took over and did even more damage and Odin’s acting like it never happened. Part of me strongly believes Loki deserved a lot of bashing from Odin. Other part of me is happy that this jackass got his final proof that he IS loved, despite everything he did. That he has family he’s part of.
2. The ending suggested a possibility of Loki becoming a (chaotic) good character. I am happy that my lovely emo godling can get a happy ending for himself after all, but at the same time I’m not sure what the future movies will do with the opening TR gave. They could either screw up plot or Loki’s characterization. It’s going to be a challenging thing to write.
Overall:
As a movie, it was fun. It had action, it had humor, it had unique aesthetic. However, there were many things that need fixing. Thor’s characterization, for example. I thought he would grow, but we got this... I don’t know. The whole movie felt like a crossover fanfiction. A good fanfiction, but NOWHERE NEAR canon previous movies had set, not to mention the comics OR the myth. Oh, yeah... Except Ragnarok in the title and characters like Hela, Fenrir and Surtr appearing in it, it had absolutely nothing to do with Norse myth. Nothing. Hela’s origin will never stop bothering me the same as the fact that MCU’s Ragnarok was supposed to affect only Asgardians, not the whole Yggdrassil. Taika Waititi should’ve spent as much time including Norse culture as he did with Australian one.

more notes/thoughts about each song under the cut! ♡
Feeling Good: This was the song that inspired the fic. It was originally going to be a oneshot, and this was my soundtrack for it. Love that big band swing. Also I’ve heard from a reliable source that it has a James Bond vibe, which is just *ok sign*
Donatella: I’ve listened to this song so many times while writing this. So many. It was originally my sassy Lance song, but is also an A+ Lotor song ksdlgjsg
Autumn Leaves, Reflets, Cathédrale: Played on the piano by Lance in ch. 1. I picked the Debussy songs because they’re both water themed.
Nights Of Love: HOLY SHIT THIS SONG. A forgotten gem from my long-buried emo phase, this song is ridiculous and a bit embarrassing and incredibly indulgent. This song is this entire fic in music form. I am so happy. *wipes tear*
Toxic: Look, you just don’t need to explain why Toxic is on a smut fic playlist. Ever.
Blow Your Mind (Mwah): Possibly one of the most Klance songs ever. Just look up the lyrics trust me on this. Also the video is kinda gay and full of hot girls like can blonde pixie and camo shirt both date me pls
Runaway (U&I): God. This is so Lance I die. “I know that I’m rich enough for pride” GOD leave me alone
How To Be A Heartbreaker: I fuckin love this song and I can’t believe I didn’t put it on here earlier, so thanks to the asker who reminded me that I should.
Ain’t My Fault: Just ... a good thirst song in general.
Gambling Man: Self-explanatory. Recommended bg music for chapter 2.
Desire: It’s just. Sexy. And honestly reflects what I imagine Keith’s sexuality to be like? Very wild, untamed, yet needy as fuck
The Man: This was recced by Yulivee @AO3 as a good song for Lance and the act he puts on!!
Call Me Devil: The Lotor song holy shit im dyin scoob
Chandelier: Langst™ Dazzle: THIS SONG IS SO IMPORTANT THIS SONG WAS MADE FOR THIS FIC I HONESTLY CANNOT DEAL IM A MESS PLEASE LISTEN TO IT. Also this was originally from Ruvi’s playlist for this fic!!
Casual Affair: This is what I listened to while I was writing the first scene in chapter 5. I love it so much. Also from Ruvi’s list.
Just (Tap) Dance: That’s right!! From Ruvi’s list!! Why don’t I just put u in charge of the fic, mate. Also I like this version better than the original tbh
Kung: Okay listen I’m sorry but I couldn’t resist......... this is basically a trashy Swedish party song about living like a king and there’s one line that goes “boys who struggle, cry and fight / no one can lose it like we do” and I just. Listened to it a lot while thinking about Lance and Lotor. It’s an open secret that I love trashy pop music so just indulge me here DJSDKGJdg
Heaven Knows: Gives me a Keith vibe just in general???
Hit & Run: I love this song so much. Inspired the piano bar scene. From Ruvi’s list.
Fever: This is what Lance plays at the bar and I would DIE for this version I love it SO MUCH.
Million Dollar Man: This is about Lotor. Got dam. (thanks Ruvi im just stealing all of ur recs jsgjsdg)
I’m A Wanted Man: Also gives me a Keith vibe. Good for when I’m thinking about his backstory.
I Don’t Care: I listen to this to picture Keith thirsting for Lance tbh
Runnin’: GOD I love this and you can actually interpret it as being about any char but for me? It’s Lotor. Most definitely.
BLUE: Keith’s feelings for Lance. catch me crying in the club
Hotter Than Hell: Listen I’m always here for that good sexy content and this is it aaa (also this artist is like my age im???? wow)
After Party: the actual best lancelot porn song bye
Stay: This was recced by Sky, and, well, Klance.
Trouble: I love this song so much?? Just the vibe and her voice and everything? I mostly put it on here to indulge myself. (Also, I found it via that space cowboys AU by Mytay on AO3, so check that out if y’all wanna!!)
Oops!... I Did It Again: Lancelot!!! Also I fuckin’ love these covers, goddamn.
Still Falling For You: Okay so I couldn’t resist putting this on here too, because it’s like... the quintessential (heh) Klance song. If your Klance dynamic doesn’t fit this song, you’re not doing Klance right; that’s just an objective fact.
Buy The Stars: The Lancelot Song, pals. oh my god. ohhhhhhh my god.
Constellations: this is for a scene that hasn’t appeared in the fic yet but oh boy am i crying
No Money: This is a Lance song and I’m not telling you why.
Symphony: Sky linked me this one too and I have been crying ever since I think y’all can figure this one out for urselves aaaa
