Food Whump Ideas 🍗

Everyone needs to eat, including our beloved Whumpers and Whumpees. Oh, and Caretakers as well. Here are some thoughts I had about it.

💔Whumpee:

Starvation. Another fairly unimaginitive form of torture, but one of the most horrible of all of them.

Whumpee does incrisingly horrific acts for a mere promise of some food.

A whumpee with food allergies, who has three choices of meals. Whumper tells them that one of them contains the allergen, and Whumpee has to choose themselves. Cue the horror and paranoia, as well as imagining sympthomps of an allergic reaction (confirmation bias, happened to me on several occasions). Bonus points if the meals don't *actually* contain anything dangerous to the Whumpee.

Whumpee being fed their favourite meal every day, for months on end, and growing to distain it.

Loss of taste, maybe due to brain damage, extended sickness or lack of meal variety.

Just Whumpee being grateful for getting to eat a piece of bread or something similiar.

Whumpee being overwhelmed by the amount of food choices in stores, and going with the simplest, most bare-bones version of the food (inspired by the movie Hurtlocker).

Simple stuff like bare bread becoming Whumpee's comfort food.

Whumpee is abducted with their pet animal, or one of their favourite animals is thrown into the cell with them. The hunger is unbearable, and the animal looks...so...tasty.

^Maybe Whumpee is non-human, and they start to question their sanity when the primal desire to hunt and eat kicks in.

Whumpee being fed only gruel or something similiar, with a taste as bland as it can get. After the rescue they are unwilling to eat more fancy foods like cereal or sandwiches.

Anorexia, bulimia or any other eating disorder as a result of trauma the Whumpee went through.

Being force to get fat, well paired with permanent crippling.

🖤Whumper:

Having the hungry Whumpee sit still on the floor while Whumper enjoys a lavish meal, perhaps the Whumpee's favourite dish, only to make them suffer.

Finally feeding the captive a full meal, only to next tie them to an office chair and spin them around until they've thrown up everything they ate.

Giving the Whumpee only leftovers from their meals for them to lap up like a dog.

Giving out food only in dog bowls.

Whumper, having had a good day, gives Whumpee something like a basic apple or a pear as an act of kindness. Whumpee is reluctant to take it at first, but ecstatic once alone again.

Whumper who forces Whumpee to cook for them (under the proper surveilance of course), and giving them what's left of the cooking process (stray pieces of cheese, leftover slices of tomato, cloves of garlic).

^Same idea, but Whumpee farming or taking care of animals (same leftover rule for animals if you're feeling especially disgusting).

^^Whumpee working in an orchard, and only getting the fallen, rotting fruit to eat.

Whumper throwing some scraps of food between two captives, and watching them fight for them.

Hiding needles/razors/glass in food, just for shits and giggles.

Pouring filth and trash (hair, feces, sewer water etc.) into dishes it's hard to notice in, like soups.

Forcefully getting Whumpee drunk, and having them do things they wouldn't do sober. Works best with defiant victims.

Taking photos of their progressively lankier form, and sending them to the Caretaker.

❤️‍🩹Caretaker:

Seeing Whumpee, once muscular and strong, now withered and husky for the first time.

Carrying the haggard Whumpee, who used to carry Caretaker the same way.

Caretaker afraid to touch Whumpee in fear of hurting their delicate form.

Helping them return to full physical condition; doing stretches, light exercises etc.

Making the Whumpee their favourite meal; Whumpee cries either because they now hate it (see the Whumpee section for reference) or they eat it for the first time since their capture.

Whumpee who's been enslaved for so long they forgot about daily things, or one who never got to experience it in the first place comes home and excitedly tells the Caretaker about something taken for granted, like ice cream. Caretaker nods along, happy to see Whumpee smile again.

Slowly helping them gain weight again, starting with dry bread and thin soups, working up to more heavy meals.

Helping the Whumpee lose weight and develop some muscles again.

Whumpee, having been brainwashed, thinks the meal Caretaker gives them is not meant for them.

Seeing the Whumpee take apart food, combing for any unpleasant surprises, and trying to assure them it's safe.

Helping them, overwhelmed with choice, pick a meal at a restaurant.

Cooking with Whumpee.

Remainding them to eat regularly.

Caretaker packing them launch on their first day of new work/school.

Feel free to use them in your stories, as always. Actually, I wonder if people actually write stories inspired by the Tumblr prompts, or enjoy them more as food for thought and the imagination. Whatever the case, poor Whumpees 😭

10. I definitely have a goal to finish at least 1 posted wip and maybe to finally finish the very late Whumptober (I know it's January)

11. Maybe not playlists, but I do have songs that remind me of my fics and the vibes (I also have a few poems that I read and immediately went "this is Angel!Kallus" xd) ❤️

3. Is there anything new you want to try with your writing? A new genre? Style of writing?

This year I want to stop worrying so much about being ‘cringe’ and lean into the self indulgence. Write that OC au fic, that fifth amnesia fic, write a million different ways my favorite idiots can fall in love and be idiots together about it. 

10. Do you have a goal for this year for your writing? Any word count? A genre you want to mark off?

I would like to finish one of my ongoing aus so they can stop haunting me. XD I really want to write some of the aus I love to read, but haven’t written yet. Soulmate au, time travel fix it, arranged marriage au, that sort of thing.

12. If you haven't created any, will you create any OCs? Will you create more OCs?

I’m creating some OCs right now for Lore that were supposed to be just background characters but have taken a life of their own. I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up coming up with more. And if I actually write that self indulgent au with My OC, there will be a lot of OCs I’ll create in that.

13. Will you participate in any challenges this year?

I hope so! I love doing challenges and writing to prompts. If I manage to catch up with the things I want to write in January, I’d love to do febuwhump again this year. There’s the Year of the OTP event that sounds doable and fun. One CorNyx fic a month is very reasonable. If there’s a Nyx week again this year, I’ll do that. And of course, I want to do whumptober. If I manage to get ahead on my writing, maybe I’ll even try NaNoWriMo this year. We’ll see what kind of time I have.

2020 Fic Year in Review

I was tagged by @aurorawest ! I’d been planning on doing something similar eventually and I like the directed questions here, so it worked out well.

Total word count: (I’m terrible about keeping track of word counts so this is total posted word count, thank you ao3 statistics) 189,970

Fandoms written in: MCU, the very tiny fandom of the Netflix series Into the Night, and I got one very, very short Les Misérables fic done

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? I guess about what I expected? Maybe a bit more, actually, I only ended up being about 40k short of my word count from last year, I didn’t think I’d actually get anywhere close. So that’s good!

What’s your own favorite story of the year? For the tiny airplane fandom, I really liked ‘we are the sleepers, we bite our tongues’. And I’m just going to keep saying ‘where is your sting’ for the MCU lol.

Even though also, I mean, ‘alone amidst the ruins’ is definitely the one I’m most proud of. I worked so hard on it. I just don’t revisit it as much because I spent so much time working on it, whereas I do occasionally reread ‘where is your sting’. XD

Did you take any writing risks this year? Hm. Striking out in a new, very different fandom was a bit of a risk. One that resulted in multiple nights looking up things like ‘how to fly a plane’. :) And also it was really the first time I started writing for a fandom that I had 0 other input other than canon. Before I start writing for a new fandom, I’ve usually read a whole lot of fic and gotten a sense of the audience and what else is out there. But...there was nothing else out there when I started writing. This was all me and it was a little intimidating, especially with some of the technical stuff.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? Several! 2021 New Year’s Writing Resolutions:

- Not have such a damned complex about writing. Look. I had a whole time this year, I think we all did, and I just want myself to chill tf out about this one thing. Just chill out a little bit, self. Chill.

- Write about more space ghosts. And by that I mean more episodic space adventure plus magic and/or ghosts (bonus points for ghosts) style fics. Sort of along the lines of some of my older whumptober prompts (like ‘1. stabbed’ ‘5. poisoned’ and ‘7. kidnapped’ from ‘pain and other human sensations’ or ‘hurts like ghosts’). I didn’t really do any this year, had a lot more short, angsty fics. The closest I think I got was the whumptober prompt ‘enemy to caretaker’ or maybe ‘withdrawal’. But I have some ideas and even though those fics are a lot of work because of worldbuilding stuff, I want to do that work because they’re really my favorite type of fics.

- Make progress on series. I’d really like to get my next fic in ‘the nine in the tree’ finished before the next Doctor Strange movie is released, and make some progress on the third fic in ‘the dead reign there alone’ considering it’s been like...a long time and I think if I make any progress on it, I’ll feel better.

- Write more second drafts. Oof. Like, this is the most obvious advice that I should have absorbed a lot time ago, but like...writing a second draft makes the writing better. I get that now. I probably won’t do full second drafts for everything, but yeah. More focus on editing/rewriting in the new year.

Most popular story of the year? ‘like a tear on a cheek’ got the most kudos, by quite a bit. I’m happy for it, it was really sappy and indulgent, and kind of a mouthpiece for my own thoughts about forgiveness and redemption. I think that probably struck a chord XD

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I logically know why this is the case, but tbh my two more extreme AUs I think were slightly underappreciated, if I do say so myself. I did my first actual all-human AU with ‘panic room’ in January, and then my ‘medieval-ish’ fantasy AU ‘a keen scourge through the wintry air’. Like, I get why these didn’t get as much attention as others I wrote this year, I still think they’re a little underappreciated. XD

Most fun story to write: Obviously, I found ‘where is your sting’ to be the most fun. ghosts in space!. It was pure Sakaar Trash Party with ghosts and overwrought dialogue, I had a lot of fun.

Most unintentionally telling story: in a chapter of ‘alone amidst the ruins’, I included a line about the WHO advising on the wearing of masks.

a line that I swear to God, I wrote last year. got to it during the rewrite and had to go lie down for a bit.

Biggest disappointment: Even if I knew I probably wasn’t going to get all the way through the whumptober prompts this year (2018 was a - somewhat scary in hindsight - lightning strike of dedication and inspiration. I don’t know how I did Fall 2018 and I’m not sure it will ever happen again), but I would have liked to finish the ones I had started. Coming up on the end of the year and I’ve left one multichapter fic hanging, and still haven’t finished the ‘possession’ one which should be easy to finish.

This is also more a regret than a disappointment but I do sort of now regret my choice to publish all the whumptober prompts separately. Urgh, I think I would just be happier if they were organized into collections by fandom, they just bury everything else and some of them are so short and I really, really wish I had stuck with my method of organizing them in one document. Errrrr, regret. Like there are definitely benefits to doing it this way, but...still. Wish I had done it the other way.

Biggest surprise: Honestly, getting any comments and kudos from the tiny airplane fandom was an absolutely delightful surprise. Thank you, anyone who kudosed any of those works <3

So, 2020. What the fuck was that, am I right? It honestly feels like another world already. Like I’ll remember doing something and be like...hm not sure that actually happened to me, sort of feels like that happened to someone else and I just watched. 1. favourite fic you wrote this year

This year was probably my most successful in terms of content; I’m proud of so many fics! I have it narrowed down to two, can’t narrow any further: Forgive My Thoughts, Now and Misery Without Her. Both of them are fics for Psych (2006) and both deal with heavy themes of death. I’m soooo not a downer at parties! ;)

2. least favourite fic you wrote this year

I wrote a fic centring about Shawn Spencer being bi, buuuut i could have written it SO much better, especially since it felt a ooc in the beginning.

3. favourite line/scene you wrote this year

Written for “A Garden to Tend” – IM3 fix-it for that scene, you know the one:

“Don’t go breaking down on me, Potts,” Tony quipped, to which she hung her head and chuckled. “I still need you.”

“And I, you,” she said. In her periphery, she caught his gaze. Propelled by a sudden, red desire, she reached her neck towards him and pressed a kiss to his temple. She dropped her head to his shoulder. "I'm sorry, Tony."

And then in “50 Ways to Leave Your Father” – Psych pre-series:

If only someone told him right then and there to get used to it; ‘You’re starting the search for a better home, this ain't gonna be easy; you'll be searching in a million different places.’

Instead, he just felt lost.

And a little hungry.

5. most popular fic this year

At Two In The Afternoon, a post-Endgame fic where Peter is struggling through a panic attack at school and Tony breaks out the ol’ suit to help his spider-son back to comfort.

7. longest completed fic you wrote this year

In Every Life, an MCU fic that’s vaguely canon-divergent but the point at which canon diverges is left ambiguous because... who knows? I wrote this for a forum competition spanning the month of January, and the fic itself is great! I like to think! ...except the ending. I just had NO clue how to end it, so I just wrote the first thing that came to my mind and ughhhhhhhh I ruined everything.

11. fandom you enjoyed writing for the most this year

Psych and Iron Man were my top fandoms this year. Psych beat out the MCU for most enjoyable A) because I’m still mad about the recent course of the latter fandom, and B) I have this fantastic community supporting anything Psych-related I do. Give it up for the Psych discord, woot woot!

13. favourite writing song/artist/album of the year

According to Spotify, it’s specifically the song “Coffee” by beabadoobee.

However, the most played artist during my writing sprees is probably Alexi Murdoch (followed up swiftly by Cavetown).

17. fics you’ll continue next year

Kicking Myself, a Psych fic about my OC, Vivi Spencer-O’Hara (and inspired by Bad Things Happen Bingo).

David’s Disco, a Supernatural series about my OC, David Parsons (and inspired by his compiled playlist on Spotify; he loves disco).

50 Ways To Leave Your Father, a Psych fic about Shawn Spencer’s pre-series days, on the run and trying to figure himself the frick out.

Misery Without Her, yet another Psych fic. I touched upon it above. It’s about Shawn Spencer coping after the sudden, tragic death of his wife and how he manages the duties of a single father. I’m most excited about furthering this one. Huh... is that bad? XD

19. any new fics to start next year

I just conceptualised my “Juliet is Superwoman and Shawn is the photographer that’s in love with both sides of her” fic, so I hope I can post that starting January next year. I’d probably be doing a bi-monthly update schedule for all my fics.

I’d also love to start writing my Pepperony AU based off the album “A Hard Day’s Night” by The Beatles.

My Pepperony Mafia AU D: I got SO excited for it and then just... never did anything beyond drafting the entire plan. In this one, Pepper Potts and Tony Stark are teenagers. Tony’s father is the most notorious mob boss of the city, and Pepper’s father is a police detective).

29. shortest fic you read this year

Hmm, I read a lot of fics this year (not as much as I feel like I should have, but whatcha gonna do when you don’t have the time?). Shortest was probablyyyy those Psych whumptober drabbles my friend wrote and psoted on her blog @tinseltrixie​. Honestly, if you love Psych (and Call the Midwife) materials, go check her out and give her a lot of love!

So I've kind of given up on the whumptober as you can see XD as it's now December and almost January. I did like the idea of playing around with Rayet and Sam and the Woman, so I think i'll be continuing that! Maybe a few dabbles sometimes or some longer pieces. 12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?

uuuuh. I've grown A Lot more comfortable with age gaps over the years, I think? Really worried about shipping the boys with the adults in the beginning, but I've obviously gotten over that xD This year's whumptober is probably also going to see a lot more Major Character Death, which I've mostly avoided so far.

15. What’s your favorite AU that you’ve written?

This is a HARD decision, since the Coffeeshop AU, the Mafia AU and the Dad!Skinny AU are all very close to my heart. But ultimately it's a tie between the Dad AU and the Mafia AU, I think - and I do have definite plans to both finish the Dad AU and the three/four sequels to the Mafia AU I've been working on on and off.

23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?

Just answered, but also, after this year's Kink January I've been thinking about doing something with Dom!Justus/sub!Skinny, but uh. haven't gotten around to it yet. (as with so many things.)

45. What’s something you’ve improved on since you started writing fic?

Lots of things. (Nicht Kommasetzung tho, probably to @/crazy-walls' Leidwesen) Mostly I'm slowly learning to actively *do* things with my style/word choice/etc instead of just writing the way I think. (The active working with style is confined to singular projects tho because uuuh can't be bothered for most fic. Most stylized are definitely "because hell is empty" and "Necessary Tragedies")
