okay i’m back again and i think what’s bothered me the most about this is that time and time again they’ve put effort in to establish this idea of two brothers who are so dangerously codependent that they actively forsake the fate of the rest of the world to save each other. and then. the last sort of. two seasons. this stops!! they just erase that concept completely!!

dean who was insane enough about his little brother to trade his soul off to bring him back, to sacrifice people time and time again to save him. just stopped caring completely?? it’s so disturbingly out of character that it just doesn’t make any sense. dean’s character just straight up gets torpedoed in season 14 with everything about him being disturbed by what michael did and choosing to mope around and then misguidedly trying to self-sacrifice himself in a way that brings no real benefit! it doesn’t make sense!

and then sam!!! sam lets his brother die??? what? sam winchester who was ready to kill his father figure to bring back dean in a fake time loop, sam who was ready to die for his brother’s sake to free him from the mark of cain, just. lets him die of something as basic as a wound?? the last time dean died sam literally found and implemented a whole cure just to bring his brother back. and that sam winchester just let him die on some random vampire hunt?? what??

it’s just so wrong. there was no point in dragging out the ending to an episode that wasn’t necessary and didn’t add anything to the show! it just. ruined it.

i like maximus's arc a whole lot. he has the emotional range of lucy while being more thematically cohesive and incidentally funny. his immaturity is played for pathos and it's very succesful imo. a brotherhood deserter is a good perspective character. i like it when he asks lucy to make his penis explode.

i thought the power armor looked very silly in the trailers. then it looked very silly in the show but it felt intentional and i liked it. wobbling rigid tin can clowns

the shady sands shit among fans was annoying. fallout fans often latch on to misunderstandings to feel directly victimized. it really is the show's fault for being too scared to say the exact year shady sands exploded but "this means new vegas isnt canon" is the take of someone playing catch-up & looking for technicalities to justify their discontent

shady sands and vault 33 being IN LOS ANGELES shatters the lore of fallout 1 but that's not a ragebait headline that would make 3d fans feel like theyre being victimized on purpose so you rarely see it talked about. (i also dont think inconsistency is the end of the world but it feels like it precludes them from ever talking about the actual lore of Boneyard)

Well, in my opinion, it's because some of them love Annabeth and don't want to accept the fact that her toxic traits are their toxic traits, so they deflect the blame onto Percy, because it's easier to blame him for being stupid, which isn't true-they just make it up.

And if anyone brings up how he acted in WOTTG, they can forget it, since we can all agree that his characterization was magnificently ruined in that book (Annabeth has to do 90% of the thinking for him? Really? No.)

I've seen a Percabeth stan say that Annabeth is stressed out with Percy and feels like she has to act like his mom, which is bullshit-again, we can disregard WOTTG because nearly everyone agrees that it's blatant flanderisation and ruination of the characterisation of the trio.

In fact, Percy is not Annabeth's son (bleh) but her equal. He comforts her at many points throughout the series and he even saves her life multiple times. The whole charm of Percabeth is that they're on equal footing and that they know and balance each other out. To liken Annabeth as a condescending and long-suffering mother figure towards Percy resoundingly ruins that......which is not surprising, given Rick's track record of ruining whatever good he had left in his books.

Also, Rick himself has admitted that he's writing Percy and Annabeth's characters to be a reflection of the TV shows characters, who are different from the book characters. It seems like he's mixing both of them, so book Percy's characterisation in these books isn't accurate.

But also, I do not think that Percy is faultless-in fact, there are times when he is the problem.

I've read the baby reveal in COTG and everyone being nervous of Percy's temper when they break news to him (and not even bad news-being pregnant in this situation wasn't bad news, it was great for them!) is not ok. They shouldn't have been nervous-they should have been excited.

He says that they were probably afraid that he'd make all the pipes in the building explode. If he's temperamental enough to do that and they're all scared of it when breaking good news to him, then that's not healthy. I definitely would have written the scene differently to reflect their excitement and not their fear of his reaction.

Also, the fact that he intentionally ragebaits Bacchus is extremely foolish on his part. If Annabeth did that, I'd think that most of her antis would leap onto her like a hound on a hare, but they're suddenly silent because it's Percy? Pretty hypocritical of them.

i think what massively turns me off this season is 99% of it is fandom bait. the susan teases. the master teases. mrs flood. the copy/pasted scene from the end of the world in space babies. the way RTD talks about the finale being such a spectacle and then it's just the empty universe from flux copy/pasted. the ruby is normal reveal copy/pasted from last jedi.

Are the titles and thumbnails of your videos deliberate rage baits?

I know this is a troll but Imma actually take this opportunity to talk about my philosophy when titling my videos because it's something I put a lot of thought into.

See: I really hate clickbait stuff. But unfortunately, that's kinda just how the youtube system works. So I try to take the core theme or sentiment of my video and condense whatever that is into the thumbnail and title.

For instance: I had a very strong emotional reaction to Magical Destroyers, and that was something I wanted to convey right off the bat. BUT ALSO I wanted to make sure it wasn't completely negative, because I DO see the value in Magical Destroyers as well as Jun Inagawa's works as a whole. So I said it was cool in the title, while also saying how it being "cool" doesn't negate it's flaws as an actual story. Also I thought it would be funny to have "FUCK" get cut off.

Specifically when I'm talking about/reviewing a piece of media, I make SURE that the title is in the, well, title of the video. That way I can be perfectly clear about what it is I'm discussing. And after the title of the show I'm talking about, I just sorta summarize how I feel about it. I.E. "This gave me a headache" or "this is lovely and good".

Going to what I assume the anon is talking about, I have two videos that this seems to be referring to. Let's talk about the HGS one first!

Firstly: Title of the show in the video title. Important. Secondly, I've gotten some criticism over saying "you freaks". This is, very obviously, hyperbole. I was trying to play into the types of titles and thumbnails videos about HGS had back when the show first came out.

ALSO! I made it pretty dang clear in the video itself that "you freaks" was NOT referring to anyone who just didn't like the show. It was specifically targeted at the people who made video after video after video after video about the show and PERSONALLY mocking the creator and the team behind it. Which a LOT of people did.

I also wanted to put as MUCH in the thumbnail as possible to give a sense of just how....a lot the show and any discussion of it would be. Wanting to include the characters I really liked and discussions I think would be key elements.

The original working title for this video was "Magical Girl Disrespect". But that felt really clunky when I thought about it more. So I changed it to a flat statement, and then posed the question of "why". That way the video declares it's thesis right off the bat, and then leads right into the explanation of that standpoint.

As for the "misogyny", that is a very boiled down and simplified explanation to my ultimate conclusion. But it's also a good hook to draw people into the video. Not to mention, I find it really funny when youtube videos pose a question in the title and then thumbnail has the answer. Which is what I wanted to do. But of course, I can't put "there are many complicated factors as to why magical girls don't get much attention in English speaking anime communities and most of them come from the fact that while media for young boys is exulted as masterclasses in their genre, media for young girls is often ignored". But I CAN summarize that sentiment with one word. Misogyny.

The most important thing with my thumbnails and video titles is that it isn't dishonest. I want to be straight forward with my thoughts while also giving the viewer a quick summery of what the video will be about.

So no, I try not to make my video titles and thumbnails ragebait. But if that's how you see them, then there isn't much I can do about that. It worked, though. So thanks for the view~

The Julie thing has made me so sad. Just lost so much hope honestly. Like it showed me that for as much as black women (and others) claim solidarity, it only comes when you look a certain (light, long soft textured hair or are darkskin but beyond beautiful with ‘polite’ black features). If you’re normal (like the majority of black girls/women) you’re payed dust and seen as lowering the standard when you’re out in the spotlight. You can’t just exist as an individual, you have to represent every single black woman and be perfect while doing it. Forget the fact that racists will shit on us regardless of what we do and how we look and that they should be the ones ashamed and cowering, no it’s up to us to appeal to their humanity. Idk I’m just so sad and sick of seeing people disparaging her and everyone who looks like her. It’s genuinely made me lose respect for a lot of people and realize that white supremacy has a firmer grip on our community than I thought. Because a lot of the people that are dissing her could be her twins and instead of acknowledging that there’s nothing wrong with how she and they look, they embarrassed and lashing out. Super shitty.

I have a lot of thoughts on the whole situation ngl

1. I think it’s just a very shitty situation to on for black women overall. We are put in a place where we have to raise awareness to people who don’t care, or fight a hoard of people (who’s grievances don’t start or end with Francesca) or we capitulate and try to join in lest we become the next target. There is no winning here.

Black people don’t care, feminists don’t care, I mean… there is nothing you can do.

2. There is a conversation to be had about how the modern era of the net incentivizes ragebait and racebait. I think that for a long long long time, black women have tried to verbally reason with these people and it doesn’t work bc we give them engagement. Like a LOT of engagement.

Tbh I do believe that whether black women act in support or against Francesca doesn’t necessarily matter in the grand scheme of things bc she’s going to get. A barrage of hate regardless that we cannot control.

2a. If I had a large enough platform I’d tell everyone who cared to start reporting accounts and posts en mass. I think that’s the only way anything could change is if there is no economic or clout incentive to post this kind of shit.

I’m going to be very honest here and say I think it’s less about black women do and more about what so called “allies” or “feminists” or whatever do. I don’t think black women are really put in a. Reasonable situation here. Public black women support doesn’t do anything it might have worked before but it sure as hell doesn’t. Now.

I’m at a point where deconstructing internalized white supremacy is less important (because how do you do that in this political cultural climate) and more about deincentivizing and deplatforming.

whenever i recommend tumblr to people, i always start out saying all the issues it has, like transphobic moderation, pornbots, getting nuked over dissent, how easy it is to accidentally delete your blog, anon harassment, ai scraping, etc...

but hearing people not just talk about but actually SHOW how bad twitter has gotten really puts things into perspective. ive gotten like, what, maybe 2 or 3 random transphobes on my posts? and i can just block them and never see them again. i usually dont see shitty right wingers unless theyre in the replies of some super popular political post, and even then i can just block them and never see them again. i almost never see rage-bait, the closest thing is probably some super stupid opinion that a bunch of people reblog a correct opinion on, and in that situation the actual content of the post is the good opinion that just uses the bad one as a jumping-off point. the other closest is probably those "reblog if you love your mom i dont CARE WHAT YOUR BLOG THEME IS you HAVE to reblog this" things, but theyre not that common and fairly easy to ignore

and like... i know we have a shitty techbro ceo. but its not like the posts of said shitty techbro ceo are literally pushed in our faces so that we still see them no matter what we do. and at least i dont think hes posting literal ai election disinformation on his account.

i think the dashboard system is honestly the best way for social media to work. i dont see stupid rage bait and conservative nonsense and other negative uncomfortable posts, because in order for me to see a post, a person im following has to reblog or post it. if a post is stupid conservative ragebait, most of the time my mutuals will not reblog that. so i dont see it. its a perfect built-in vetting process for every post

and apparently like. every issue that we have, they have worse? like our trans women get banned over nothing, but on there you can't even say the word cis because it's a slur while letting transphobes go free? we have pornbots but they have legit nsfw shown to people without them looking for it as part of the algorithm? i'm not an insider, so i can't really know this, but it seems like theres MUCH more preferential (negative or positive) treatment of accounts/banning on twitter? we have anon harassment and random aggressive people but twitters whole platform is based off ragebait? we have to opt out of our posts getting ai scraped, but theres a built-in ai on twitter and people are constantly showing ai disinformation about serious subjects?

yeah. i guess this site has more or less stayed the same or gotten better while twitter has taken an enormous nosedive. ill be sad when its gone. maybe ill invite all of you to a discord groupchat or something
