Ok, I give in
I might not be able to watch rwby content anymore (cause I got rid of rooster teeth account. Didn't really see much point in keeping it since I heard they were going down) but I've seen reactions and posts about the epilogue and the rwby beyond series and...I am unable not to talk about them any longer
First off
THEODORE 😱
Tumblr media
And he's with oscar 😃 (I gotta see how he first reacted to oscar, I just gotta)
He looks so darn cool 🤩 also nothing like how I imagined him in the books 🤔
I kinda pictured him a bit...bulkier. not quite bigger but, ya know, brooder. More muscled. And I imagined his hair as sort of flat - kinda like how James was when we first met him - rather than a Mohawk (but I think the mohawk just makes him cooler 😏) also I don't think I pictured him (forgive me if this seems racist) coloured. But that's probably just a fault on my part. They live in vacuo, a place ruled by the sun, of course he's going to be tanned 😅 and I certainly didn't picture him with a mustache and goatie (but again I think that makes him cooler)
Ya know, looking at him, ya know who he kinda reminds me of
Tumblr media
I said once that I thought Magnus bane was too beautiful a character (a book character mind you) to exist in real life. Well, it looks like rooster teeth is trying to imitate that beauty 😏😌
Also ravens back. So that's something
This one shot was honestly the only interesting part of the first beyond episode (except for maybe sun and Neptune knowing about oscar and ozpin) and it was also the shot that got me all excited for rwby again. After 2 years. I saw this and it was like 'rwby-fan-mode reactivated' 😅
But I think I saw the reaction to this on Tuesday, three days after it came out, and like I said I don't have rooster teeth anymore so I had to wait for the reaction to the next one before I could watch it...which for the reactors I watch didn't come out till Thursday of the next week 😶
But, since I mentioned Oscar
Tumblr media
What nightmare? You not gonna show us the nightmare? I wanna see his nightmares 😕
Ya see this is kinda why I don't like animatics like this 😔 there not finished. They just don't feel quite real
Tumblr media
IF and when 😔 don't think I like the sound of that
But on a more positive note
Tumblr media
Happy boi ☺️
And hay, look at that, he really did change his gloves to fingerless ones 🤔 but he still has his coat 😶 yeah, you might wanna rethink your priorities for keeping cool there my boy 😏
Also
Tumblr media
Daaaaanm
We finally get to see the vacuo city (emphasis on finally)
Tumblr media
So exactly how long was jaune in the ever after for 🤨
(yeah, I'm still kinda tryna pretend that place doesn't exist and none of whatever happened there actually happened)
Tumblr media
Nice ponytail tho
I kinda have a thing for guys with ponytails 😏
Tumblr media
Good. Let's never talk about it again... actually that might not be so good for you 😕
Tumblr media
does keep a journal too, is that how he knows this? I'd kinda like to see what he would put in a journal 😏

Since you guys liked my writing last night, I thought I'd post a fanfic of RWBY :) so have my Nuts and Dolts fanfic.
Penny woke up with warm sun rays glowing across her face. She wasn't used to this. She was used to her "wake up routine" just being that she'd step off the platform she'd be standing on for a couple hours to charge her batteries. She didn't have to do that now, she'd realized. She never had to just stand there searching for more data while an electric current ran through her boots.
She'd look around the room, she didn't perfectly recognize everything. Another new thing. She spotted Ruby by the blinds.
"Good morning Penny!" Ruby said excitedly.
"Salutations Ruby Rose!" Penny replied, with what she had intended to be her normal enthusiasm, but was a bit more tired sounding than she had wanted.
Penny yawned. Another new occurrence. Although, she had yawned the previous night while laying in bed.
"That was honestly really cute, Penny," Ruby would say, watching Penny yawn and sluggishly get out of bed.
"How so? According to the information I acquired prior to being turned into a real girl, yawning is a standard human response to being tired. Is it not?" Penny replied
"It is, but it usually doesn't sound like a kitten who was about to fall asleep on the couch"
"I feel like I am about to fall asleep, is that normal?"
"Yes, Penny, it is probably one of the most normal things in the world to be tired when you wake up. Now, you wanna get up and come eat breakfast? You might want to get changed first though."
Another new thing. Getting dressed. She hadn't had to clothe herself since before the Fall of Beacon. Her father constructed her with her dress built in the second time. She remembered that she was wearing a simple, pale copper green dress with an orange trim. She felt Ruby's gaze on her.
"What time is it, Ruby?" Penny asked quietly. She thought she knew, but she no longer had a clock in her vision at all times, so she thought it better to ask.
"It's 9:30, why do you ask?"
She was wrong. Once again, something new.
"I had thought it was closer to 10:45. I was concerned we would be late for our patrol at 11:30." Penny replied, less sluggish now, back to her standard excitement.
"Alright, I'm gonna go check in on the rest of my team, and team JNR. I am worried Jaune might not be doing great, and Blake and Yang... well... yeah..." she trailed off. Penny was curious what Blake and Yang could've been doing. She decided not to continue the conversation as Ruby seemed she needed to get back to waking the others.
"Understood. Thank you, Ruby Rose!" Penny replied.
"Like I've said before, you're allowed to just call me Ruby. We've been friends for a while."
"Understood. Thank you friend Ruby!"
Ruby walked out of the room. Penny saw her glance over her shoulder before gently closing the door to Penny's room of the hotel they'd been staying in for a couple nights in Vacuo.
Penny felt her face get slightly warm. She didn't know why. She wished she could check the endless well of information she used to have access to, but with the CCT down and her being human, she couldn't check. *Oh well,* she thought, *I suppose I should go change my clothes.*
She stood up, walked across the room to the door and locked it. She knew it wouldn't deter Ruby or Qrow because she had given them spare keys to her room just in case, but she made sure to anyway because she thought that was the expected behavior.
She walked over to a near by mirror. She needed to brush her hair. More new things. She had never brushed her hair. She would have to ask a friend to help.
She walked her closet and opened the door. She saw how little she owned in terms of clothes, and gave a small giggle. *I suppose just because I'm a real girl now doesn't mean I'm similar to everyone else yet.* She grabbed her combat dress, boots to replace the ones she lost when she became a real girl, and her thigh-high socks gifted to her by Ruby Rose. She slipped out of her nightgown, slipped on a bra, and put on her dress. She wasn't used to the way skin moved. She was startled when her waist slightly squished upon putting her dress on. She put on her socks next. As she pulled them up she thought of her friend. She remembered how her friend had saved her from Cinder, how Ruby had activated her silver eyes when Penny was grabbed by Cinder. She slipped on the boots that Blake said she used to wear, but didn't fit her anymore. Penny recognized them as the ones Blake wore at her time at Beacon Academy.
Penny checked the mirror. She had forgotten her bow. She grabbed the pink ribbon from her nightstand. She needed to brush her hair before she could put the ribbon on, so she tied it around her wrist and walked downstairs.
Penny walked into the dining room and was immediately greeted by Ruby.
"Hey! Penny! I saved you a seat!" she called through mouthful of pancakes and patted the seat to her right. To her left was Weiss, followed by Blake and Yang who had moved their seats in order to sit closer to one another.
Penny felt oddly jealous of the couple. In all honesty she wished that she could do that with someone who was kind and brave and heroic. Someone like Ruby, she contemplated this. She decided that it wasn't worth risking her first and longest lasting friendship though. In all reality, she didn't even know why she wanted it.
Penny walked over an took her seat next to Ruby, looking at the pancakes she'd been given. Another new thing. Eating. The pancakes looked amazing. They were slightly crisp, but still looked fluffy. They were a golden-brown with shiny syrup strewn across them. She could tell it was Ren's turn to cook.
She looked at her plate and picked up her fork. She began to eat. The pancakes were wonderfully sweet and perfectly fluffy. Penny was not used to how wonderful eating could feel.
"Thank you Lie Ren!" Penny said after she finished her food, "The pancakes were wonderful!"
"Thanks! I made them with-" Ren started, but was cut off by Nora.
"Don't make them sound gross Ren! Let Penny enjoy one of her first meals like... EVER!"
"Alright Nora" Ren said.
Penny looked over at Ruby and smiled. She felt her face get warm again. She questioned it, but before she could get too caught up in it, Ruby spoke again.
"We should probably get going. You are the protector of mantle after all!"
"Indeed Ruby! Let us go to protect the people of what was formerly Mantle!" Penny replied excitedly.

B/S versus W/J paralleling anon again!
Sorry for the lack of line breaks last time. My worst vice is forgetting the return key exists. 😵‍💫 I appreciate the thoughtful response in any case!
And. Since you asked. (TL;DR It’s towers all the way down, to me. Also I have zero of the fandom-standard villain->hero / enemies-to-lovers hangups because I like when characters undergo foundational change.)
I don’t feel like I needed to be convinced, honestly? Except insofar as the narrative had to set the pieces up that way. Coming to the story fairly late (after V8 wrapped, so I watched all of that in one go) and being insulated from the people who are… weird… about Jaune probably helped rhghjk
My interest in RWBY is very thematically oriented—I actually wouldn’t quibble at all that the romantic arcs are key thematic centerpieces, I think that’s absolutely true. I’m just not very romantically inclined myself, in general, so fictional romance isn’t something I get the giddy, like, dollies kissing! kind of excited for normally. The flip side of that is as long as it’s narratively compelling and the characters are interesting I’m a pretty easy sell as far as willingness to believe a romantic arc.
What *grips* me in a story is like, emotional paradigm shifts, dynamic self-image—especially in relation to family identity and definition of the self apart from one’s family. V9 has been VERY FUN for me, lol.
So my focus, with RWBY, tilts more toward the breaking and healing of parent-child bonds, whether personal (Summer + Ruby) or narrative (creators + creations). I tend to read the romantic arcs in that context. I guess a succinct way to put it would be to say I’m thinking about Ozlem in terms of Salem’s eternal exile being a second tower Ozma has been unhappily conscripted into guarding? And the point of the story ultimately is to Get Her Out Of The Tower But For Real This Time, and in the same stroke save him from being her warden.
What twigged me to Jaune/Cinder is the fractal repetition of their family situations. He has this family legacy he feels quite burdened by and feels compelled to uphold it (imitate it) even as it runs contrary to his actual self—he is not a warrior—meanwhile Cinder has only ever known family as a means of control and intends to escape the control by emulating the means.
Then they’re connected by her killing of Pyrrha, who drew out the Arc stuff in the first place and facilitated his emulation of his forefathers by training him. Then Jaune vs Cinder in V5 foreshadows the Ozlem fight in V6 and suggests the shape of that connection. & Jaune has this baked-in empathy for the feeling of being in a tower (stuck in a tree, funny how that’s coming full circle right as he confronts the brittleness of his simulated heroism). It does rather announce itself.
What grips me in a story is like, emotional paradigm shifts, dynamic self-image
See, because what's interesting to me in this case is that this is exactly what I'd describe romance as, and I prefer it over genetic family relations because it's something which exists outside a given scenario you're born into. This is the Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre type shit for me. And no net ensares me. This is totally paradigm-shift type stuff because it's outside everything you thought you knew.
So basically you're saying you identified Jaune/Cinder like, on your own terms, and then you found my blog? Am I gathering that correctly? Because if so, first of all, well fucking done (not trying to gas myself up here, just most people who send asks on the matter have done so because they found my blog or my fanfic pre-Knightfall). Second of all, that's crazy, because you've approached it on your own terms, and third of all, I'm so interested to hear from someone not inoculated in the fandom. I've been in the trenches since Volume 1, so the show has really transformed for me over time.
I personally didn't twig Jaune/Cinder until the end of V7, when I was near-certain Cinder's redemption arc was set-up and the story was taking her character seriously. I had speculated upon it since the end of V3/beginning of V4, but never seriously considered it to be that emotionally sincere and thoughtful lol. As you say, the fandom was and is pretty inhospitable. Frankly you're probably lucky you missed out on it, but more importantly, I'm fascinated with your experience because you clearly have a textual grip on the matter.
I think what you're describing here about intergenerational inheritance is thematically critical to the story, but I think what's forgotten in a lot of fandom spaces is that romance is a building block of family too. People get married and have babies. Ozlem got married and had babies. Obviously I care about the marriage and babies bit, but it's not like a stork dropped Ruby out of the sky (and to be honest, I want to know what's up with the team STRQ love affairs). So I suppose I'm sort of like, curious about the false binary on the matter (and I'm for a model of romance which is like... reciprocal, unconditional, non-transactional and not forced, obviously). I do agree though, I'm a huge fan of the V9 development with Ruby in particular - I might be coming at it with a slightly different angle from you, in that Ruby's awakening to spiritual aridity (and basically outright confirmation this is her Heroine's Journey) is something I personally oscillate with, and the false image of her mother is one she actually needs to break. If we get Jungian here, Summer as Ruby's persona is very potent to me, especially if Grimm!Summer Rose theory proves true. (Your mummy comes back in the worst way possible, the truth of the situation is really painful as the illusion is broken, but that is the only way to grow up).
I think what you've outlined here with Jaune and Cinder's family backgrounds is influential to the pairing, but it's not all of it in my opinion, but it is interesting that it motivated your interest - I can definitely see what are the things you find valuable in storytelling influencing your interpretation here. I think what you've described with Jaune here is my exact issue with Jaune/Weiss, though. In the past I described what my issue is with a potential Weiss love interest; frankly the boy is simply not a good arranged match and is unmarriageable to another great house. The last thing his character needs is to join a different family weighted legacy. So in this way, I think Jaune and Cinder 'meet in the middle' on this matter, as they do with everything else. If the ideas here are intentional, it's actually quite clever. Because in this sense, Cinder needs to get out from her magical evil stepmother/godmother's thumb, and so does Jaune, and they need to get married and have babies.
I know what you mean though; I do think there is a difference between you and I in the sense that I can readily write tens of thousands of words about Jaune and Cinder falling in love with each other, which is a genuinely different experience from wanting to see Ruby's relationship with her mother evolve. But by the same stroke, I enjoy all that stuff too, especially in unusual places like with Raven (the Mother of the triple goddess cycle) in respect to Cinder (a well and proper Maiden) and Qrow and Winter. Anyway, I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, because really, you're fluffing up my ego with this 'I don't ship it but I see it' business.
I don't mean to sound weird but you said 'it's towers all the way down'; I tagged a Reverse Ozlem post this like, a year or so ago. So that's some interesting memetic repetition. (I'm not saying you're copying/referencing me, I mean this in a sort of vaguely mystical way lolololol). Because yes, I do feel the Ozlem story is basically fundamental to understanding the reincarnating/repeating pattern of the show, and this is even true outside of Jaune/Cinder itself and to do with the other canon romances. I really like how you've described the Ozlem relationship here, actually; I feel like you get it.
So that is... very interesting to me. My goodness. Very enlightening indeed.
Then they’re connected by her killing of Pyrrha, who drew out the Arc stuff in the first place and facilitated his emulation of his forefathers by training him.
Yes, yes that's exactly it. That's why Pyrrha is another persona (false self), and this is especially why the sequence of Penny -> Pyrrha -> Weiss all hurting him just in this past episode is puzzling me. These are all false images, attached to a false sense of who he is, which are assaulting him. Cinder killing Pyrrha symbolically frees Jaune of this weight but it's deeply and profoundly painful (and on a broader scale, the death of Pyrrha is the death of innocence and childhood, and then you've got the fact it makes the Fall of Beacon personal to one character who's meant to have a major connection to Cinder?). But then she forces him to kill Penny, which is even further brutal development, and now he's retreated to Weiss, which again he is dispelled away from.
The problem is that I want to analyse this on terms of character development and narrative consequences, but you can't really get past 'but she's evil for killing Pyrrha :( Jaune should kill Cinder :(', and it makes the matter rather boring. So I really enjoy the opportunity of getting to interact with someone who fuckinggggg getsssss it and I don't have to censor myself speaking about the narrative. Again: I've been in this fandom on and off for too long and I've seen it all. As bad as you think it was, imagine worse. Most of the fandom has been filled with 'Pyrrha is Jaune's tragic lost love and they should be together forever and ever' for years and years, if not 'Weiss is the replacement goldfish/Ruby is the replacement goldfish/something something', and so say, with the appearance of Pyrrha this volume my stomach's in the floor because eventually you start to wonder if the chorus is right.
But on textual terms that he is literally harmed by false images is pretty on the nose.
Regarding the V5/V6 Ozlem parallel, yeah that is the clincher for me personally with the ship. Reverse Ozlem itself is what I think to be the motivating factor (here's a recent post I made about the potential in which it can evolve as), so I'm glad you picked up on that bit too because as much as I care about all the other influences (see: my masterpost) I only take those as seriously as I do because of the Ozlem matter. Like, you know, Rhodopis (proto-Cinderella) marrying Sappho's (Sapphron's) brother. That one is so fucking weird, I really can't believe it.
I appreciate this follow-up a lot, it's really fascinating for me to hear your thoughts and I think you have a lot of interesting things to say. Really, a true joy. Also, thank you for the paragraph breaks, that really saved me and I appreciate it a lot. <3 I hope you have a good one, and please stop by again.

Chapter 42
Remnant:
There were several things I need to do and people to talk to. I had been putting them off for a while now. So, I figured I should get them out of the way.
I found Pyrrha walking around the campus by herself.
"Pyrrha! Wait up!" I called out to her.
Pyrrha stopped, turned around to see who had called her. When she saw me, she waved and smiled. "Hi Eilwyn." She said.
"Are you going back home for summer break? I asked her.
"Summer Break? Yes, I planned on it. Why?" She said.
"Well, if you don't mind. I thought my Team and I might go with you to meet your family." I told her. "And while we're at Mantle, we can go see Jaune's sister."
Pyrrha looked surprised. "You want to meet my family? How come? Why would you want to meet my family?" she asked me.
I chuckled. "I'm guessing you've sent pictures to your family of all of your Team and all of your friends here. So, they've seen us. And I'm guessing you've talked to your family about all of us." I shrugged my shoulders. "So, I'd like to meet your family… Besides you've met my family." I said and grinned.
"Your right, I have sent my family pictures of everyone here that I know. And I have talked to them about all of you, too." Pyrrha said and smiled. "But when I met your family, I thought they would be here in Vale somewhere." Pyrrha stopped and looked around us. Then in a loud whisper. "I didn't expect your home to be on another planet." She said.
I had to laugh at that. "You still got to meet them, and meeting your family will allow us to see what it is like in Mantle." I added.
"If you really want me to, I can introduce you to my family." Pyrrha told me with a grin on her face.
"Besides, you know how I travel long distances." I grinned. "That means I can teleport all of us, you included of course, to Mantle. That would save you the cost of transport and the travel time, to get back home." I suggested.
Pyrrha giggled. "That would save a lot of time, wouldn't it."
"And you would be able to spend that much more time with your family." I added.
"I hadn't thought of that. That would be really good." Pyrrha admitted.
"Well, now that's all settled, I'll see you later." I said and headed back to my dorm room.
Later I headed down the hall to Team RWBY's dorm room and knocked on the door. A moment later the door opened.
"Hi Eilwyn. What brings you to our room?" Yang asked me.
"Hi Yang, I…" I started.
"We're coming, we're coming." Willow called, as she, Crystal and Jett headed my way, along with Taima in wolf form.
I looked at my Team and shook my head. I had told them what I was going to do, and they had dawdled in coming with me. I turned back to Yang. "As I was saying, I wanted to talk to you and your Team for a bit. I have some information you need to know about." I told Yang.
"Information? What information?" Yang asked with a bit of excitment.
By that time my Team had reached Team RWBY's door and were standing beside me.
"I think it would be better if I told all of you in your room." I said looking up and down the hall. "It's not something that everyone should hear."
Yang's eyes got wide. "Oh, ok, come in then." She said and stepped out of the way so we could enter her dorm room.
Once in the room, Yang shut the door and turned to me. "What information?" She asked, again.
"Hi ladies." I said and waved to the rest of Team RWBY. "It's about Roman Torchwick." I started.
"Roman? He's the guy I fought a few months ago when he and some goons were robbing that Dust shop, and Blake fought at the docks not long ago." Ruby stated.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Yes, he is. Well, Roman is behind bars. So, you don't have to worry about him anymore." I turned to Blake and pointed at her. "But you could help me find where the White Fang meet, here in Vale."
"Why do you need to know where the White Fang meet?" Blake asked me.
"For two reasons. One, they are planning on releasing Grimm in Vale and Beacon Academy. And two, Adam planes on killing Sienna." I told her.
"Are you sure? Why would they do that!?" Blake asked, shocked.
"Yes, I'm sure. As for Sienna. Adam believes she's being to lenient on humans. He believes we all should be killed. And that is why he plans on releasing Grimm in Vale and Beacon Academy." I explained.
"I can't believe Adam would do that." Blake stated.
"I believe it's more of, you don't want to believe he would do those things. He's become obsessed with punishing humans." I told Blake.
"Your probably right. I don't want to believe he would go that far." She said.
"If you would, find out when and where they meet." I said.
Blake nodded her head in agreement. "I can do that. Will you need any help at the meeting?" She asked.
I grinned. "You mean, do I want you to go with me to the meeting?" I asked.
Blake glared at me for a moment, then broke into a grin. "Yes, I mean, do you want me to go with you." She admitted.
I chuckled. "Yes, you can go with me." Then to the whole group. "Cynder has been taken care of as well. She's the one that Roman was working under. She is the one that Ruby and Goodwitch fought the night Ruby fought Roman.
Ruby perked up at the mention of Cynder. "What happened? How did you take care of her?" She asked excitedly.
I chuckled at Ruby's excitement. "How she was dealt with is not important. But she is behind bars and will probably be there for several years." I told her.
Ruby nodded her head in understanding. "As long as she's in jail, that's all that matters." She stated.
"Does that mean everything is taken care of?" Weiss asked me.
"No, not everything. Like I said earlier. Blake needs to find out where the White Fang meets so we can take care of Adam. Plus, there are a few more people that need to be taken care of, but they are minor players in the scheme of things. Besides Qrow is hunting down a few people on the list." I informed them.
"Uncle Qrow is helping you!?" Yang exclaimed. "Why is he helping you!?"
"Yes, your Uncle Qrow is helping me. He's helping me because I asked him to, and Professor Ozpin asked him to help me find some people." I informed Yang. "He says hello, by the way. Although you'll probably see him yourself before he heads out."
"Oh great! We'll get to see Uncle Qrow!" Ruby exclaimed.
"And with that, we will say goodbye for now." I said and headed for the door.
The next day Jaune took me by surprise. He came to our dorm room looking for me.
Jaune rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. He looked around, then at me. "Um… you said you can see the future…" He said, nervously.
"I know 'some' of the future. I don't know all of the future." I corrected him.
"I know I have all these abilities you gave me." Jaune started. Then quickly added. "And I appreciate them. Their great, but I was wondering if you might know what my Semblance is." He finished.
I looked at Jaune thoughtfully for a few moments. Jaune started getting antsy. "Yes, I do know what your Semblance is, and I might be able to help you, activate your Semblance… But in the future, I've seen you go through a few very stressful situations before your Semblance is activated. And the thing is, since I've changed the future. Those situations will no longer happen." I told him.
Jaune's shoulders slumped and he staired at the ground.
"That doesn't mean you won't be able to activate your Semblance. It just means other things will have to happen for your Semblance to be activated." I told him.
"So, it could take a long time before my Semblance is activated." Jaune said dejectedly.
"Possibly, but I might be able to help you out."
Jaune perked up. "You can? You can help me get my Semblance?"
I nodded my head in agreement. "It's a possibility, there is no guarantee."
"But I could get my Semblance."
"You could. But the process will be very stressful on you."
"I'll do it." Jaune jumped in almost before I had finished talking.
"I would suggest you think about it. It's not something you should just jump into without thinking about it."
Jaune looked at me for a moment, then nodded his head in agreement. "Ya, okay, I'll think about it and let you know." He said, then walked off.
The next day, Jaune caught up with me again. "I want to go through with it. I want you to help me to activate my Semblance." Jaune told me.
I nodded my head in understanding. "If that's what you want, I'll help you. But you might want your Team there. We can start, tonight after supper, in my dorm room. If that works for you." I told him.
Jaune nodded his head in agreement. "After supper, in your dorm room. I'll be there with my Team."
I had told my Team about Jaune wanting me to help him to activate his Semblance. And when he and his Team were going to be at our dorm room. So, when there was a knock on our dorm room door, they were not surprised.
Willow opened the door. "Hello, come on in." She offered.
Jaune walked into the room first with his Team following him.
"You believe you can help Jaune unlock his Semblance?" Pyrrha asked.
"As I told Jaune there is no guarantee, but it is possible. Although if it doesn't unlock his Semblance, there is a chance it will make it easier for him to unlock it sooner rather than later." I told her.
"Did you have us meet you here so you can take us to your home to do it?" Nora asked.
"No, I want to do this where no one will be able to listen in on us, and no one can interfere. That means I'll be taking you to a secure place." I told her. Then I opened a doorway to one of my pockets demensions.
"What planet it that?" Nora asked.
It's not a planet. It's what is called a pocket demension. It's a small pocket that looks like a planet, but it's only a few miles wide. No one can get in unless I open a portal to it, so it's completely privet." I informed her.
"Universes, planets, pocket dimensions. Where else is there, you can go?" Pyrrha asked giggling.
"That's about it." I told her, then motioned for everyone to enter the pocket demension. Once inside I closed the door.
"Why do you need privacy do help Jaune?" Ren asked.
"Since in the future I've seen, Jaune gets his Semblance after going through a few stressful situations. I figured it would be better to be in a place where, if he starts yelling, there will only be us to hear him." I explained.
Ren nodded his head in understanding.
The pocket dimension didn't look like much. I hadn't set it up yet. So, there was only a large field with a small house in the middle of it. I created a couple gym matts side by side and enough chairs for everyone to sit around the edge of the matts.
"If everyone will take a seat." I started. "Except you, Jaune. You will be standing in the middle of the mats, with me." I said.
Jaune looked a little worried. "Are we going to fight or something?" he asked.
I grinned. "Or something. The mats are just in case you fall. That way you'll have a soft landing."
"Oh, Okay." Jaune said as he walked to the middle of the mats.
I checked to see if everyone was seated. Once they were, I turned to Jaune. "Ready?" I asked.
Jaune shrugged his shoulders. "I guess."
I sent into Jaune's mind the battle at Beacon Acadamy. All the Grimm and the fighting. Then Ozpin, Pyrrha and Jaune going to the vault and Cinder showing up. And finished with Pyrrha pushing him into one of the rocket lockers and Cynder killing Pyrrha.
When Jaune saw, in his mind, Pyrrha die, he dropped to the ground on his hands and knees, yelling and pounding his fist against the mat.
Jett stopped his Team from doing anything. "Jaune has to go through this to unlock his Semblance this soon." Jett told them.
Next, I showed Jaune the fight he, Ren, Nora and Ruby had with the Nuckelavee. The Nuckelavee is an Imp Grimm fused to the back of a horse Grimm, as if the Imp was riding the horse. Ending with Jaune and Ruby pinning its arms to the ground. Nora dropping from a tower and killing the Grimm horse with her hammer, and finally Ren killing the Imp part of the Nuckelavee.
Once the Knuckelavee was dead, Jaune gave a sigh of relief and relaxed.
And last I showed Jaune the Battle at Haven Acadamy. I showed Cynder taunting Jaune, Jaune admitting he didn't care what happened to himself, that his Team members were more important than he is, and finally Cinder creating a glass spear and impaling Weiss with it. I didn't show Jaune how he saved Weiss. I left it open to see if the anxiety and the desire to help Weiss to survive would activate his Semblance.
When Jaune saw the spear go through Weiss, he yelled and started saying. "NO, NOT AGAIN!" He bent down as if to help Weiss and put his hands out to her. That is when I and his Team could see his Semblance working.
I let Jaune see his Semblance help heal Weiss. Or how his Semblance enhanced Weiss' Aura to heal her. I dropped the connection so Jaune would see Weiss was not really there.
"Wh-where's Weiss!?" Jaune exclaimed.
"She was never there. Everything you saw was an illusion. You only saw it in your head. It's not real." I told him.
"What about Pyrrha?" He asked.
I just pointed towards where Pyrrha was sitting.
Jaune ran over to Pyrrha and grabbed her in a hug. "It was so real. I thought you had died." He told her.
Pyrrha returned the hug, then she kissed him.
Pyrrha released Jaune and stepped back. Then she looked at me. "You made it look like I had died?" She asked.
"I showed him that you were killed by Cynder." I told her.
Pyrrha got a strange look on her face. "You said you know some of the future. If that's true. Did you show Jaune something you made up or did you show him the future?" She asked.
"I showed him the future if I hadn't changed it. So, yes, that means, I changed the future, so Cynder won't kill you." I explained.
"I would have died!?" Pyrrha said with a far off look on her face.
"The future has been changed. It's really not that much different than if you were walking down the street and turned right at the corner and went to a store then walked to your dorm room. Where if you had turned left a car was out of control and would have run you over. The only difference is in this case, I stopped the driver from getting in the car so no matter which direction you walked, the car was no longer a danger to you." I explained.
"Plus, with the regeneration and durability I gave y'all. It'll be very difficult for anyone or anything to kill you or to even hurt you, now." I told them all.
"It's just more of his weird stuff, Pyrrha. Don't worry about it." Nora told Pyrrha.
"Leave it to Nora." I said and chuckled.
"Ok Jaune. Your Semblance allows you to enhance other people's Auras and Semblances." I told Jaune. "As an example; if you enhanced Ren's Semblance, he could hide dozens of people from the Grimm."
"Are we finished here?" Ren asked. He looked like he was anxious to leave.
"Yes, we are. Jaune just needs to practice with his Semblance to see what he can do with it and to make it stronger." I said.
I opened a portal to our dorm room so everyone could leave. "After you." I said.
Jaune took Pyrrha's hand in his as they headed through the portal.
"What a week. I think I'm going to take the week off when we get to Pern." I told my Team. "And Next week's not going to be much better. I still have to talk to Ozpin about Cindy and Iris attending Beacon Acadamy."
Crystal laughed. "Do you really believe you'll get a chance to take that much time off? You still have to work on the Market at Landing. Set up a couple more Holds. Along with gathering up more cattle for Heather and Verdi. We're still waiting to set up the radio station." Crystal started listing off all the things that needed to be done on Pern.
I held up my hand to stop Crystal. "Okay, okay. I get your point. Sheesh. We still have lots to do. But I don't have to do everything at once. And I can take it easy this week." I told her.
Crystal, Jett and Willow all giggled.

For me, I think what I've concluded is that CRWBY is oftentimes too willing to sacrifice story for spectacle. Does it make sense for Ruby&co to steal a plane and whoops! It all goes wrong and suddenly they're fighting a big mech? No. Is it more exciting? Yes. Does it make sense for Qrow to team up with Tyrian to fight Clover? No. Does a 2v1 battle and a villain-hero team up look 'cooler'? Technically, yeah. Your thoughts?
I think you're a mind reader, friend, because that point has been bopping around my head since I posted that ask. And yeah, I get it. I mean, RWBY is a fighting show, first and foremost, no matter that it has expanded in a way that requires a lot more non-action storytelling. I would no more expect Volume 6 to end without an epic, exciting, spectacle of a fight than I would expect that for any season finale. Fans were right to criticize Volume 5 for spending too much time in the house and then following that up with a truly lackluster Haven battle. We expect that Rule of Cool.
So the problem isn't RWBY's desire for a spectacle, but rather its unwillingness to plan one that makes better sense and doesn't leave the heroes looking that bad (unless, of course, we got a version of the show actually interested in taking them through an arc wherein they grapple with their mistakes). As you say, they're prioritizing spectacle over story rather than realizing the very simple writing fact that you can have both. It always surprises me how many fans act as if published RWBY content is a historical event as opposed to a malleable fiction that a group of authors had complete control over. If the end goal is "The group has an epic battle against a mech" or "There's a 2v1 battle featuring a villain-hero team" that's great! It's just that, you know, you should implement those ideas in a way that doesn't destroy so much consistency and characterization in the process. Nine times out of ten, RWBY's problems lie in its inability to provide good setups for an idea (planning ahead) rather than the idea itself. Like we've been saying for forever now, almost no one has a problem with Ironwood becoming an antagonist as a general concept, only in how we reached that point. Same with the fights. No one has a problem with a cool mech battle, just that we got there via rejecting a perfectly peaceful plan + the heroes endangering so many needlessly. No one has a problem with a cool hero-villain battle, just that we got there by Qrow loosing all brain cells and deciding that teaming up with Tyrian is a good idea. As writers with complete creative power and an already flexible story (because, again, RWBY doesn't abide by its own rules) there are a hundred different ways we could get those battles without sacrificing so much else in the process. But that requires a lot of work and forethought that RWBY isn't putting in nowadays.
Specifically regarding the Cordovin battle, I'd be slightly more forgiving in regards to the, "It had to happen that way because the finale needs an epic fight" argument if not for one, crucial thing:
Adam.
The story ALREADY had an established antagonist for our heroes to fight, very conveniently tracking them across Remnant and, ignoring the complicated racism allegory, Adam is likewise an established baddie who the characters should have no (or very few) qualms about fighting. Tweak things a bit — plan ahead with characterization and the morals of the story in mind — and there's no reason to have the group go through all this Cordovin nonsense in an effort to give them someone cool to fight because someone cool to fight is already there.
I have an ask in my inbox that I'll probably never get around to answering, just because it would require a whole lot of thought and work and I'm fundamentally lazy lol. The gist of it though is a challenge to rewrite five scenes that I would change, creatively, rather than merely discussing them analytically. As a nod to that (sort of...), I was thinking about just one way we might change the end of Volume 6 with the above points in mind. Everyone who reads my RWBY posts know that I take issue both with rejecting Cordovin's offer and the group's hivemind, so why not fix both issues by giving Weiss some more agency? Cordovin agrees to send her to Atlas and Weiss agrees too... but Ruby doesn't. Throw in some tension based on their different experiences post-Fall of Beacon. Weiss has spent her time facing down her father and proving to herself that she's no longer under his control. She might not love the idea of heading into Atlas first, but to be frank she didn't want to go back to Atlas at all. If she's already agreed to handle that for the sake of the mission, she can handle this too. Ruby, however, has spent her time mourning the loss of Pyrrha, and Penny, and watching Qrow nearly die. So when the prospect of Weiss being separated from her is put on the table her PTSD rears up and goes, "ABSOLUTELY NOT SHE'LL DIE." So they will not separate, thank you very much. She's pulling rank on this one. Weiss, stop arguing.
So the plan is mostly formulated the same way, but this time there's a clear divide in the group regarding whether they should be doing this at all. Most agree that sending Weiss is the best option, period, but they're struggling to convince Ruby of that in a way that doesn't completely undermine her leadership and doesn't send her into spiraling with worry. The end result is Weiss making her own choices — just as she always has. She boards the airship with a hidden Maria (and maybe she's convinced Ruby to let her hold the Relic too because I hate the "It sporadically attracts grimm!" characteristic and want to remove that from the Leviathan fight entirely) and then Weiss calls them to basically say, I'm leaving. Yes, I'm really going to Atlas. I'm not going to attack those guards. I'm not going to steal the airship and turn it around. That was a stupid idea, you dolt, and though I think I have an inkling of why you're upset I'm still pissed that you don't trust me enough to do this. I can handle it. Maria and I will speak to Ironwood as soon as we land. Hang tight, Weiss out.
So they cross the border completely legally — perhaps with a cliffhanger-esque ending for them with the viewer wondering what actually awaits them in Atlas. Weiss-Maria solo adventure in Volume 7? — and Ruby is left floundering. The rest of the plan is useless now, no point in carrying it out, which means that Blake and Yang either come straight back to the group, or never had time to leave them in the first place (either way, they don't fuck with the CTV tower). Which means that when Adam gets impatient and finally goes after Blake, the whole group is aware of him as a threat. He's the final boss of this Volume.
But, of course, with so many heroes and only one villain, that fight isn't going to last long. Enter the grimm. There are a lot of hand-wavy ways that you could summon a whole lot of them for the group to fight. Maybe the combined emotions of Yang (lost limb) and Blake (abused + stab wound) manages to draw a lot more than would normally be the case. Maybe in a move worthy of Watts, Adam has done something in Argus to distract the group/scare civilians enough to draw a large number. Maybe RWBY has actually written in better consequences for world-altering events and the grimm have been a problem this entire time: a school was destroyed, a celebrity was murdered, communications are still down, and everyone is in such a state day-to-day that the grimm have just been waiting for something to tip the emotional scale. Adam does that.
So the group splits. Most have to head back to Argus to help with the grimm attack — which they are not the cause of this time! — which includes a giant Leviathan. Cordovin still gets to hop in her mech (because mechs are cool) and punch it in the face, requiring an uneasy alliance between the heroes and someone who they simply don't like. Ruby can still use her eyes, perhaps drawing on what she's emotionally grappling with regarding Weiss/all the death she's seen, though in this version the Relic isn't around for her to stall with and Maria isn't there to guide her (because in this version Maria is also an active mentor). Ruby really struggles and her eventually hitting the Leviathan, even just to do minor damage, is a big win. While most of the group deals with Argus and a few others deal with grimm near the primary fight, Blake and Yang face off against Adam. As the main antagonist now, we'll get a much longer, more emotionally focused battle. Let's introduce him to the rest of the group before his demise, maybe with some sisterly protection before Ruby is forced to focus on the grimm, what with having Silver Eyes and all. Let Yang and Blake both fumble a lot more than originally as they struggle to fight him while simultaneously battling their own PTSD. Reveal the brand earlier and let the characters respond to that. Set up the horror of it, the worldbuilding implications, and the expectation that they'll have to tell Weiss when they next see her. Crank up their power levels again (back to both Adam and Yang capable of cutting through mechs) so that we get something truly epic. Then kill him off and then reserve time for the girls to start coming to terms with that, rather than walking it off after a single hug.
Maybe the even kiss!
So the group has actually saved Argus this time. Volume 6's focus is on a villain we care about, not a cartoon paper-pusher. We've set up conflicts for Volume 7 like how Weiss will respond to the brand, how she'll reconcile with Ruby, what Ruby's leadership will look like moving forward (and her mental state), how Blake and Yang will deal with killing a man even if it was in self defense, etc. Obviously, this would change a lot moving forward. We'd start Volume 7 with the group still split. How would Ironwood respond to just Weiss coming in legally? How long does it take for them to meet up again? Are there any additional problems along the way? Does this change the trajectory of Volume 8? (I sure hope so.) But then, that's the point. If you're going to change one aspect of the canon, that should, by default, influence a great deal that comes later (and a bit of what came before). But the point of this very long-winded hypothetical is that we can always take the major beats in RWBY and rework them in a way that's not quite so frustrating. I'm not going to pretend that my revision is some fantastic bit of writing — I'm literally just spitballing based on my last 24 hour shower thoughts — but the takeaway is not, "This revision is better/worse" but rather, "Oh yeah, we can achieve many of the same basic ideas, including spectacle, without relying on stupid concepts like Ruby straight up lying as she screams that Cordovin never gave them a chance, so now she just has to do a bunch of dangerous shit for the sake of a Rule of Cool focus. There are avenues to these epic fights that don't require making the characters that unlikable, or throwing out what little consistency the show has."

I May Fall and What Comes Next in Volume 8
Jeff Williams has done wonderful work writing the songs for RWBY. He has access to the Show Bible, which has character profiles as well as the main arc outline, and has used it to sprinkle his songs with deeper character insights and foreshadowing of both plot developments and lore drops. This makes his incredible music even more loved and valued.
But amongst all his RWBY songs, one of them really stands out. I May Fall was included in the V1 soundtrack and end credits, and used again in one of the V3 final battles. But unlike all his other songs (with the exception of Bmblb) I May Fall doesn't refer to contemporary or past events. It's a song about an event that even as of V3 was still set in the future, that Jeff had read about in the Show Bible while working on V1, and that he found so exciting he had to go on and write a song about it right then, even though the event itself was still years in the future.
What could the event be? I think we may have seen the start of it. The events described in the first half of the song look a lot like events that happened during the V7 finale. If that is the case, then the second half of the song may contain clues about events that will happen in V8.
First let's look at the lines in the song which seem to correspond with recent events.
There's a day when our hearts will be broken
When a shadow will cast out the light
Tumblr media
(That thing's got to cast a whale of a shadow.)
And our eyes cry a million tears
Tumblr media
Help won't arrive
There's a day when our courage collapses
And our friends turn and leave us behind
Tumblr media
I may fall
Tumblr media
But not like this -it won't be by your hand
Tumblr media
I may fall
Tumblr media
Not this place, not today
Tumblr media
I may fall
Tumblr media
Bring it all-it's not enough to take me down
Tumblr media
I may fall
Tumblr media
(I moved a line and a verse back because I think they refer to future events. I don't now whose artistic liscence is at work, but Rooster Teeth had rearranged outlined events for greater impact before, and the story is the better for it.)
The rest of the song seems to be talking about two upcoming battles. The first one is a defeat.
Creatures of darkness will triumph
The sun won't rise
"The sun won't rise" is easy to predict. It's dawn, the sun is coming up, but the shadow of all those Grimm are going to blot out the light in Mantle, so it'll seem as if the sun was gone.
When we've lost all hope
And succumb to fear
As the skies rain blood
And the end draws near
Things are going bad, not just for our heroes but for everyone. The line I'm curious about is "the skies rain blood". There's two possibilities. One, Salem drops some substance on Mantle that looks like blood. It's a valid attack. We don't know yet if she's riding the Gothic pinnacle of pimped-out Cadillac Convertibles or if Monstro has offensive capabilities, but I'd bet on the latter.
The other option is the literal interpretation, that actual blood is falling from the sky. Salem's ground forces have Mantle well in hand, with the defenders retreating even before Salem's conference call. She focuses her air force on a brutal attack on Atlas, catching the entire kingdom in a classic pincer manuever, giving her the upper hand over Ironwood and forcing the Atlasian government to submit to her terms. If I were a ruthless force of destruction who played a mean game of chess, it's what I would do.
There's a place where we'll stand outnumbered
Where the wolves and the soul-less will rise
In the time of our final moments
Every dream dies
There's a place where our shields will lay shattered
And the fears all that's left in our hearts
Strength and our courage have run out
We fall apart
Our heroes gets in over their heads and gets their asses whooped. Interestingly, one of these lines was foreshadowed in V7. "There's a place where our shields will lay shattered". Remember this bit?
Your new weapons and armor should be as requested, but I also took the liberty of reviewing your combat footage from the Vytal Festival Tournament. There’s some additional enhancements I’d like to suggest. Oh, but for now, these should serve you well enough.
Pietro already has the plans for their pro upgrades, but the opportunity for them never arose. Some people thought that was bad writing, but it looked like foreshadowing to me. If their shields are shattered in V8, he's got them covered.
When we lose our faith
And forsake our friends
When the moon is gone
And we reach our end
This defeat is our team's darkest hour so far, even darker than Beacon. They question everything, starting with themselves.
I may fall
There's a moment that changes a life when
We do something that no one else can
And the path that we've taken will lead us
One final stand
There's a moment we make a decision
Not to cower and crash to the ground
The moment we face our worst demons
Our courage found
When we stand with friends
And we won't retreat
As we stare down death
Then the taste is sweet
I may fall
But not like this -it won't be by your hand
I may fall
Not this place, not today
I may fall
Bring it all-it's not enough to take me down
I may fall
I may fall
I may fall
I may
I may fall
But they regroup, make a better plan, and win the second battle. "Then the taste is sweet."
At this point we can't say how much time passes between the two battles. They could both happen in V8 or the second one could happen in V9. Certainly enough time has to pass for us to appreciate the pain our protagonists are going through. But it all points to V8 being the most intense season of RWBY so far.

Of Sweet Sorrows
fandom: rwby
requested by: @dark-chocolate-fudge-sweetracer
description: after having people leave all her life, ilia's wondering when that cycle will finally break
words: 1, 134
Parting is such sweet sorrow.
Ilia was extremely familiar with that line. She remembered her younger days, as a spy in Atlas Academy. English class. They were doing some light reading during class. And she caught these words, unable to get them out of her head. If only she'd known that that line would soon come to define the story of her life.
Her parent's death. The “friends” she'd made at the academy. Parting.
Then she found it again one day. She was hanging out with Blake, the girl she loved for so many years. They were reading together, her head on Blake's shoulder, far too close for Ilia's liking.
“Parting is such sweet sorrow.” she'd read.
“I read this already.” Ilia mumbled, half-asleep.
“I think it's a beautiful story.” Blake said. “Tragic, of course. But there's a beauty to it.”
After that, Blake left. Parting with Ilia seemed to be some tragic theme in her life. Please, just go. Live your life. For the life of you, just leave poor, vulnerable little Ilia behind. Not like she's traumatized or anything.
This had been Ilia's train of thought for years. And it only got worse when a certain bull faunus decided to take advantage of it.
Ilia lived her life wounded. Full of anger. Fear. Every negative emotion, hidden and untreated. Infected by Adam's toxicity. She was afraid to show weakness then. She used to think that was strength.
Until she learned what it really was. To forgive was to be strong. She knew that now. She learned it when Blake came back. She gave Ilia a chance to open up. To cut off the destructive mindset Adam gave her. She forgave her after the parting. She came back. So Ilia forgave her too.
But little did she know, the girl she loved had to part with her yet again.
Ilia still felt Blake's touch on her arms as she watched Blake get on the train. But now she was cold where they'd touched each other. She was done with anger and spite. She knew she could finally turn over a new leaf. And that it would be the bright green of new life.
But that was a paradise after the long journey on the road of loneliness.
Ilia stayed where Blake left her, on the second level in the building, leaning on the rail. She could only watch it leave now. A bittersweet smile grew on her face. Her scales shifted blue ever so slightly.
Parting is such sweet sorrow.
"Watching the train leave?" someone said.
Ilia tensed. The blue faded. She turned her head to see who it was.
It was a girl. She was pretty. And tall. Almost a head taller than her. Her hair was long and dark, like a silken curtain framing her face. A pair of sunglasses hung off her collar. Her eyes were just as black as her hair, if not darker. She wore a brilliant smile, which Ilia would never admit she found attractive.
"Y-Yes." Ilia mumbled.
"So am I." the girl mused, moving a bit closer to Ilia. "I have a friend down there. I'm guessing you do too?"
Ilia nodded, finding it slightly redundant to say yes again.
The girl hummed, pursing her lips. Then she smiled again, turning around. She propped her elbows against the railing, leaning with her back against it. While one arm was outstretched slightly towards the faunus.
"I'm Reizo. Reizo Yamato." she winked. "But you can call me anything you want."
Ilia gritted her teeth, trying to push down the warm color shift that was fighting to creep into her face. This is a human, she chastised herself. She shouldn't be attracted to anyone this soon after Blake leaving. Much less a human. The train hasn't even left yet!
She hesitantly took the hand, shaking it. Then shyly retracted it soon after.
"Amitola." she answered briefly, barely trusting her one tongue to deal with this.
"Pretty name." Reizo commented. "Amitola. Do you mind if I call you Ami? I think it's cute."
Ilia was failing the war against her blush, the color just barely seeping into her scales.
"I'd rather not, please."
Reizo nodded, unfazed by this rejection.
"Cool, cool. Up to you." she said.
Her dark eyes scanned the area, before landing on something interesting. Her eyebrows raised in excitement.
"Well, if not that, what do you say about a coffee?" she offered. Upon seeing her uneasy expression, she added more with an easy grin. "It's fine if you say no, I'm a big girl. But I don't see the harm in taking a pretty girl to a nice coffee shop."
Ilia didn't turn, but she looked at the dark-haired girl's hopeful expression out of the corner of her eye. She thought about it for a second, then she sighed, caving.
"Okay. Let's go."
"Great!" Reizo cheered. "Come on! I know exactly what to order!"
To Ilia's greatest surprise, she actually ended up liking the human. She may have been a bit talkative (and way past what Ilia thought her type was), but it was clear that Reizo meant well. She was honest, easy to read. And despite how hard Ilia usually was to crack, she seemed to know the cues of when she wasn't supposed to pry further. She was careful, in a subtle way. Or maybe it was habitual.
She recognized and respected Ilia's personal space, which was enough for her.
By the end of the day, Reizo knew Ilia was a faunus (no thanks to her pink scales). Ilia decided she could trust her with that information.
It was sundown, and they walked out of the train station together, typing their numbers on each other's scrolls.
"So.. I'll see you again?" Ilia asked sheepishly.
"Just name the time and place, doll." Reizo winked, handing back the scroll. "Wherever you wanna go, I'll follow."
Ilia snickered at the innocent irony of that statement.
"Good to know." she smiled.
Reizo took back her scroll, quickly changing the caller ID, before stuffing it in her pocket.
"Well," she sighed, stepping away from Ilia. "It was a pleasure meeting ya, sweetheart. Parting is such a sweet sorrow, isn't it?"
Ilia tensed. There it was again. She forced herself to smile.
"Yes.. It is."
"Don't worry though," Reizo said. "I'll text you later. Call you, if you're up for it."
"Sounds great."
"See ya!" And with that, she left, taking one last look at Ilia before so rounding a corner and going out of sight.
Ilia didn't leave right away, her mind still stuck on that statement. Her bluish-grey eyes peered towards her scroll. She thought of Reizo instead while typing her name in. And as she left, it was decided.
Maybe she wouldn't have to part with anyone anymore.

Alright, this hit me like a Boarbatusk. Or a truck. Same thing.
So, here I am, happily making some RWBY OCs. I get to their Semblances and think: "What can I give them that's useful and connected to their character?" Cuz, you know,
Tumblr media
I don't quite get it from that explanation though, so my next thought is: "Well, let's look at the original cast, see what they got and how it pertains to their characters."
And yet the more I looked, the more a thought grew in me.
"There's aren't so much decided by their personalities as they are by their wishes."
Now, hear me out here. For most Semblances we've seen yet and have heard/seen the unlocking of, they seem to have appeared in a moment of need, a moment of physical or emotional stress.
And it always seems to pertain to certain desires the user has.
Alright, let's just start from somewhere. Let me explain my thought process.
I take a character who's Semblance we know of, then check their backstory and personality. Then I check if said backstory/personality could lead to a desire in said character. And finally, I try to see if that desire connects directly to the Semblance of the character in question.
Let's start with someone who's Semblance we not only know, but saw the moment they found it.
Lie Ren.
First off, we check their personality/backstory. Ren is a quiet, less emotionally expressive character. He seems to stay calm in every moment. As the story progresses, he grows more expressive - in current-day Kuroyuri, he is shown in a rage.
So far, it seems fitting that such a character gets a Semblance such as "Calmness", as I'll dub it.
Tumblr media
But it's the moment that he unlocks it that makes it interesting.
Up until that point, we've seen Ren as an excitable little boy. He went from store to store, trying to find something to buy his father for his return. He shows a lot of emotions at that point. When the Nuckelavee attacks and his parents perish, he is panicked beyond belief and is hiding under an archway. He notices Nora a little ways away, in a similar state. He wants to help her. He wants to take action, but he's too panicked to move. He wants to calm down , he tries and tries and- his Semblance activates. His desire to calm down activated his unique ability - to instill calmness despite negative emotions. His wish was to do as his father and mother did - be brave and inspire others to feel the same.
In other words, his Semblance was unlocked by his desire to be calm so he could be reliable to those he cares about.
Alright, next big example - Jaune.
His Semblance was first hinted at in "Forever Fall, pt.2" as Cardin attempted to give Jaune the good ol' knuckle sandwich, only hurt his hand after a bright flash of light (This'll be of importance later). The next time we see it is alllll the way in "Vault of The Spring Maiden", and this time it was fully unlocked. His Semblance of Aura Amplification is one that I personally feel really fits his character - he doesn't want to protect his friends. He wants to do as Pyrrha did for him at Beacon - bring them up, assist them in achieving new heights but not doing it instead of them. Notice how I again used "wants". His desire to do as a good leader should, bring up his teammates, is the basis of his Semblance. It's the same with when he blocked Cardin's punch - he wanted to bring himself up from the pitiful state he was in at the time, not just protect himself from the pain but have the strength to overcome it.
Alright, next up on the list... is Raven, surprisingly.
She was one of the easiest to piece to this logic, as she and Qrow have an irony with their Semblances. But back to Raven.
Her Semblance is "Connection", as I'll call it. It's premise is relatively simple - she can create a portal to those she has a strong emotional connection to. The list so far includes Qrow (brother & teammate), Taiyang (lover & teammate), Yang (daughter) and Vernal (right-hand woman until her untimely demise). We know about Vernal due to process of elimination - unless you wanna imply she actually had a connection to Cinder or her companions. And yet, her whole story is how she abandoned her daughter and her husband. She told Qrow "they owed everything to the Branwen tribe", strongly implying, if not confirming she feels a sense of thankfulness to the people who raised her when she needed it. She admonished Qrow for deserting the clan. She feels a sense of duty towards them. And yet, her Semblance is based entirely on emotional connection - something I doubt is of great importance in a bandit clan composed of "killers and thieves", in Qrow's words. I'd hazard to guess that a childhood in a bandit clan would easily stir a desire to form lasting bonds - something easily achievable when you can make portals. Despite her sense of duty, she still desires a strong emotional bond, devoid of power dynamics and a sense of "we may die any day". Something she had with Taiyang and Yang. Something she had with Qrow and Vernal, despite the circumstances. Really adds a layer to her character if you put it like that.
Alright, who's next... hm, let's put Qrow on the dissection table now.
His Semblance of "Misfortune" seems awfully contradictory to his character, that of a caring man who can barely stand to hurt those close to him, even if they're not family and friends. Why would that be his Semblance?
Well, he obviously didn't have a great opinion of the Branwen tribe. Who knows, maybe what Raven saw as being saved, Qrow saw as being used. Maybe he wished that they'd be caught by bad luck, that the tribe would just collapse and disappear. But that spite evolved into his current Semblance - everyone around him suffers while he's only really left with emotional scars.
Welp. That was depressing. Who's up for getting at Nora next.
Now, this is gonna be pretty short this time. There's not a lot to talk about. She sees Ren as her emotional anchor, her savior. She wants to give back for what he does. She sees he's struggling on the physical side (he's pretty low on the endurance, as evident multiple times throughout the show), so she desires to be strength he's lacking in. And look where that got her - her Semblance, "Charging" makes her grow exponentially stronger the more electricity she absorbs. She can even channel it into objects, like Magnhild or an Ursa. I'd say mission successful, you funky little Thor ginger.
Let's finish up JNPR with their resident apology machine - Pyrrha.
So, we know she'd been in many tournaments. She's the Invincible Girl. The three-time Mistral regional battle tournament winner. She's honestly a gladiator. And what does a gladiator crave? Victory. That's where her overpowered (in comparison to others) Semblance appeared from. She simply wanted to beat her opponents more easily. Well, until she didn't want all the fame that came along with her power.
Alright, who do we mentally lay bare... Hm, Velvet seems simple enough.
What's there to say - a shy, bullied bunny. She's a second year in the first year's history class. I'd say that would do some things to your confidence. And what's her Semblance? Well it just so happens to be "Movement Copying". She can copy a person's physical movements, even if she has not seen them, as shown in "Heroes and Monsters". Makes sense - her desire to be as strong as those around her shows both in her Semblance and her weapon (which is basically a weapon-copying camera). She doesn't have confidence that she's strong, so she (quite literally) does as those around her.
Hm, who next... oooh, how about Yang?
"...basically a temper tantrum", I'd call it "Rise Up". This also can connect to a desire. Yang, being repeatedly battered by one damaging event after the other - her mother abandoning her, her stepmother dying, likely a depression in her father and mothering Ruby. The girl has likely been brought down more than once. But she desires to get stronger from it, so much so that the desire has become a characteristic. She shows so when she decides to find Ruby, when she decides to start training again. She has done it again and again and she'll continue doing it - her desire is now another part of her personality that won't break.
Alright, we put Yang here, how about we make a Bumbleby combo and go for Blake next.
"Shadows", now that's a name I can get behind. She "leaves an empty shell, a shadow to take the hit while she runs". It's, all things considered, a kind of cowardly Semblance. It's basically "here, beat on this while I dodge away and escape the attack". And with the recent events, we've seen she doesn't wanna run anymore - yet she retains her Semblance unchanged? Makes no sense if it's connected to a personality trait. But if it's connected to a desire, then it would make perfect sense. Firstly, she's a Faunus. We know for a fact that there's Faunus discrimination (seriously, if the Adam short and Adam's scar aren't enough proof for you...) and that she was fighting against it in protests. And if our world is anything to go by... yeah, it's easy to see how peaceful any counter-protests would be. Not to mention Adam himself. From all those factors collected, well, the thought process behind the desire her Semblance is founded on becomes obvious - she realised the racists only saw an animal, nothing of importance where Blake stood. So she gave them just that - an empty sandbag to hit while she runs. I'm not gonna get into Adam, as I'm simply sick of the topic.
Hmm, who's left... Well, Weiss has a familial Semblances. The Schnee Glyphs aren't so much unique as the summons included. Really, the only thing unique about her Semblance is who she summons, as we've seen a Queen Lancer, a Boarbatusk and the Arma Gigas, unlike Winter, who we've seen with a flock of tiny Nevermores and a Beowolf. The show says the Schnee family Semblance is a very rare thing, a passed-down-by-blood power. So it's an understandable outlier.
Let's look at Ruby next... Well, she seems to be a very big outlier to this theory of mine. Her silver eyes have more to do with her desires than her Speed. Maybe she has a desire we have yet to see? Anyways, I don't quite have an explanation for Ruby, so I'll leave her aside.
Let's clean our palates with Sun, then.
His Semblance, "Kage Bunshin No Jutsu" (I know it's called "Via Sun", but I wanted to make an unoriginal joke), actually seems to fit my theory. We don't have much, if any, backstory, but in this case we need none. His desire, as we've seen many times throughout the series and which was twisted in Volume 4 & 5, is to help people. He wants to be there for those he cares about, like Blake and his team, but he realises he can't do it alone. So his desire turned into his Semblance, "One Monkey Army" - a way for him to help even if he's alone to do so. You can't tell me he hasn't used his Semblance to fetch something for someone at least once.
Hm, few people left. Let's go with Emerald.
Her "Hallucinations" are a nod to her growing up on the streets. A place you'd be begging people not to pay attention to you. Her Semblance, then, is born from the obvious desire to fool prey and predators alike.
Neo... We don't know much about her. No backstory, some personality, but honestly? The only idea I have at this moment is more of a headcannon. But I CAN connect her Semblance's evolution. So, before V6, her Semblance is simply making physical illusions. It's honestly similar to Blake's "Shadows", in some uses, but it's definitely a lot more of a multi-use tool. It can be used to make her look different, if not outright invisible. But it always shatters upon being hit. Fast forward to V6 and her fight against Cinder, and suddenly she can use the illusions as straight up puppets to fight for her. Her Semblance grew, to put it bluntly. But why in such a manner? Her illusions were fragile and immobile before, now they're tougher and mobile to the point of being straight up weapons. But why in that direction? Well, they can move and touch things without them breaking now. Guess who's started to get more headpats from her partner.
Alright, Hazel is up for the mental strip.
Honestly, despite our lack of major backstory here, his Semblance is pretty easy to trace back. Nobody likes pain, outside of masochists, so it's easy to understandable he'd have a Semblance that removes the feeling of pain.
Adam. Adam Adam Adam. He's surprisingly more similar to Hazel than Yang in terms of Semblance. Yeah, you heard that right. "He gets to dish out damage and not feel it". His Semblance is basically a self-loading gun - he can use the power of strikes to charge it, only to the unleash various empowered slashes. He refuses to feel pain, just like Hazel, but unlike him, he also desired to return what was meant for him straight back at his attackers. Hazel is relatively peaceful when the situation doesn't include Ozpin, but Adam? He's aggressive, always bloodthirsty. His desire was simple - feed his thirst for vengeance. A perfect Semblance for that wish, no?
Hm, well we only have Glynda left. I got nothing. I don't see how I'd understand her desire to have telekinesis without a backstory I doubt we'll get.
Well, that's it for that! I feel like I'm onto something.

(1/2) So this isn't specifically RoseGarden related but I love all the ideas you come up with so I thought I'd get your opinion on this. I've had this idea in my head for a while now that, what if the CRWBY decided to remake RWBY from V1C1 in the Maya engine with all the skills and things they've learned? I personally think that would be a cool idea since they could use that idea to fix up the story and have it start at the beginning rather than in the middle of V3.
(2/2) They could tighten up the story since, V1 (at least to me) seemed like a rough draft of what they really wanted and it would be a great opportunity to fix up the writing people always complain about. They could also make so much better scenery so we could actually see what Vale looks like and Beacon wouldn't just be a 2D picture in the background! I know some people wouldn't be fond of it since Monty wouldn't be behind it but personally I think it would be cool. Anyway, what do you think?
‘Sup Velian. Hmmthat’s actually not a bad idea. I can definitely see the CRWBY committing tosomething like that as part of some kind of anniversary milestone special,y’know what I mean? As of now, RWBY had been on the web for at least five yearswith a total of 6 seasons and 79 episodes as of Volume 6’s conclusion. If theCRWBY have the resources, the budget and the production crew to pull this offthen I can see this idea being like a full remaster of theBeacon Trilogy. I’m not sure if you’re a Kingdom Hearts fanbut KH is notorious for this kind of thing. Kingdom Hearts had its first originalgame start on the PlayStation 2 but over the years spread its game storyline acrossmultiple different consoles correlating in different engines and more or lessdifferent styles to cater to each engine, as in the case of Chain of Memories. And don’t even get me started on all the Re-Done games andFinal mixes which had additional scenes from the English versionsince the Final Mix Kingdom Hearts games were only available in Japan.
However, later…years down the line, we inevitably got Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 (andbegrudgingly KingdomHearts 2.8) which basically takes all the games and clump themtogether onto 2 discs redone in beautiful HD graphics.
Overall Ican see the CRWBY doing a remaster of theentire Beacon Trilogy (V1-V3) in the Maya Engine if they’re feeling ballsy andagain, have the time and budget to pull such a stunt off without interferingwith their schedule for other upcoming seasons of RWBY.
Or…evenbetter, they can do what Kingdom Hearts did with Unchained X, it’s game available onmobile. In 2.8, they basically created this movie that summarized the events ofUnchained Key with all the characters being modelled in the new game engine.
For yearsI’ve wanted to see the CRWBY possibly do a RWBY feature length movie. RoosterTeeth hasalready done original movies before. I’m just waiting for them to grow biggerto the point that they can evolve again and branch out to have another studiothat’s in charge of creating feature animated films including ones for known RoosterTeethproperties like RWBY.
Who doesn’t want to see a RWBY moviesomeday? Thissquiggle meister would for sure.
Besides,if the CRWBY Writers don’t wish to hot up their heads over coming up with an original concept for a movie that possibly deviates from the canonanyways (like how the Pokémon films used to move), they can always create afull feature length RWBY movie that basically summarizes the events of theBeacon Trilogy while adding a new spin on it, as you suggested.
Nowcontrary to what you and other fans might think, this squiggle meister actually thought the Beacon Trilogy was flawless. Don’t get me wrong, it had its fairshare of faults, yes, however the key thing that impressed me the most aboutthe Beacon Trilogy and why I personally will defend it as the best trilogy ofRWBY so far is because of its plot structure.
Tumblr media
Let meexplain. I’m a glutton for a well thought out, well-written, well-paced and well-structuredplot. I love stories that give me a plot where every piece ofinformation shown on screen means something in hindsight to the overallnarrative. I love it when stories create this perfectly woven spider web thataffirms that everything in the story---even those little throwaway details thatsome audience members might overlook, meant something in the development of theoverarching plot. So that when you get the final payoff, you feel this biggersense of excitement because it’s something you know the story has been buildingup to for ages. It’s why I get why fans love the Marvel movies. Each movie wasjust a piece of a thought out Cinematic Universe that’s been building for yearsand it’s still going strong.
I mean, Ilove surprises and moments just thrown in for shock value in stories too but Ilove it even more when I get stories where everything is connected andadds up to something bigger; y’know what I mean?
This iswhy the Beacon Trilogy will always be perfect in my eyes because it had a great structure. Everything addedup. Almost every detail the CRWBY Writers introduced to us between V1 and V2meant something in the grander scheme that led up to V3.  If I had to compare the Beacon Trilogy tosomething, it would be a well-baked lasagne with each volume representing theperfectly staked layers of meat and cheese that slowly build up to a savouryplot of baked perfection (meaning V3 and the Fall of Beacon) that anyone cansink their teeth into.
This iswhy if the CRWBY ever redid the Beacon Trilogy, I don’t want nor do I expectthem to change anything. At this moment, the Beacon Trilogy---the first threeseasons of RWBY are by far some of the best seasons in the show. Between the Beacon Arc and the Mistral Arc, Beacon still stands superior to itssuccessor because of that strong plot structure; something that Miles and Kerryunfortunately did not carry over into the Mistral Arc.
Theystarted off decently in V4 but messed up sadly in the middle with V5. V6 waspretty much damagecontrol for what transpired in V5while setting up for V7 and for the most part, V6 was a great season. Still thebest of the Mistral Arc for me, hands down. It’s just unfortunate that theCRWBY Writers had that slip up in V5 because that’s what most fan critiqueskeeping bringing up. I, as always, have a different stance on this.
I actuallydisagree with you Velian. The overall story did technically start in V1. I meanfrom V3, the key plot of RWBY definitely did kick in more but everythingstarted from V1.V1, by my observation was a solid good season to me. V1 wasabout establishing the important details---our main cast of colourful characters, the setting for the arc and our course our key villains while at the same timeproviding the first instance of what was going to be the main conflict goingforward.
The mainconflict of the Beacon Arc which was the Fall of Beacon at the Vytal Festivalwas something that had clues dropped as early as V1 with Torchwick. RomanTorchwick was the man who the audience identified with since he was the villainwe mostly got to see this scheme get conducted through. It wasn’t until V2 whenthings started to pick up with the involvement of Cinder, Emerald and Mercury.I don’t want to go too much into this but…everything about the Fall of Beaconstarted to build up from V1. In V2, we got more clues but we still weren’tclear on what the main plan was until V3. The CRWBY did a great job of buildingthe suspense and mystery toward the Fall of Beacon so when it finally wentdown, you were surprised but you also got this sense of revelation when yourealize that everything that happened in the volumes before it meant somethingin the grander scheme of things. At least by my eyes. You, of course, have yourown thoughts on that.
I guesswhat I’m trying to say overall is that I like your idea. I think it canhonestly work better as a remaster as part of an anniversary type of event orperhaps a movie where we get to relive our favourite moments of the BeaconTrilogy. However it’s not a straight retelling of the original story. I likeyour idea of it adding more to the story than what we received before plus itreally would be lovely to see Vale remastered in the Maya engine with all thatthe CRWBY had learnt over the past three seasons.
Not sureif they would actually do something like that. However, it’s a pretty sweet idea=) Hope this answers your question, fam.

The Top 10 Reasons Why Yang Should Be Your Favorite Character
Hey, everyone.
So to finish up my Top 10 Reasons Why This-Character Should Be Your Favorite series, we have the last member of Team RWBY, our sunny, little dragon, Yang Xiao Long. Once again, I'd like to thank my friend Michaela Roan and RWBY Wonderland admin Blake Belladonna for their help in making this list. If you want to join RWBY Wonderland, click this link: https://www.facebook.com/rwbywonderland/. And, if you guys want to make sure you don't miss the next series of RWBY posts, subscribe to my RWBY mailing list: http://eepurl.com/cWX8Fj. But if you really want to show me the love, support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.con/bryanclaesch.
Alright, then. Let's finish this bitch.

"Yang? Is that you?"
 1. "Oh! I'm so proud of my baby sister!"
Yang and Ruby make for interesting siblings. Their proportions are different, their weapons are different, their hair is different, hell, they don't even have the same last name. But despite these differences, Yang still looks out for Ruby with great enthusiasm and she's been doing so for a long time. While we aren't told exactly when, I would estimate that it has been somewhere between 10 to 12 years ago (since Volume 1) when Summer was killed. This effectively cemented Ruby and Yang together as they no longer had a mother to rely on. With Yang being the older and likely feeling guilty for nearly getting the both of them killed, it's apt to say that Yang has practically become a surrogate mother to Ruby.
Something that struck me the other day was that it's never mentioned why Yang thinks it's the best day ever that Ruby gets to go with her to Beacon. Most older siblings would be annoyed if their little brother or sister got moved so far ahead that they ended up going to school together. But not Yang--she's super excited about it. We could assume it's because Yang just has that upbeat of a personality, but it's more likely Yang is relieved that she won't have to leave Ruby behind to fend for herself. I mean, do you remember in Players and Pieces where the Nevermore filled the battlefield with its quills? Do you remember how Yang rushed to help Ruby, and then the tight hug she gave Ruby after Weiss saved her from the Deathstalker? Yang hugs Ruby a lot in Volume 1. Then there's the part in The Shining Beacon where Ruby mentions that Yang used to read to Ruby every night before bed, an activity that is usually performed by a parent.
Another strange thought I had was that because Ruby is so much like Summer and Summer was the only mother Yang ever knew, and so by cherishing Ruby the way she does, Yang is holding onto and cherishing the memory of Summer. No longer able to love her mother, Yang turns to her baby sister and makes sure to love Ruby the way Summer deserved. Hence, Yang becomes the over-doting big sister.
"Please, stop..."
 2. "I'm not asking you to stop. Just please, get some rest. Not just for you, but for the people you care about and who care about you."
Monty had an interesting idea behind introducing the characters of RWBY. It was his intention to make them all look like stock, one-dimensional characters, and then as the show went on, to fill them out. Not many writers have the balls to do that since most readers, editors, and publishers won't even give a writer the time to set something up like that. Once they look stock, no one thinks to read on or care about what happens to them in the story.
When we're introduced to Yang, she's supposed to come off as the super extraverted, quintessential party girl. Always looking for fun and always on the move. But Yang is more than that. She deeply cares about her friends and family, and their relationships are very important to her. Remember when she started crying in Destiny when she thought Blake didn't believe her for being attacked by Mercury? Yeah, a skin-deep, party girl wouldn't do that. A party girl also wouldn't have a never-ending search for the mother she never knew. While Yang could have lived her life as she saw fit and think of Raven as dead to her, she doesn't. Yang genuinely cares about her friends and family, and she feels the sting of rejection or disbelief quite deeply. All of which will make Yang and Blake's reunion very interesting to see.
3. "Wait! Yang! Is she alright?"
"Uh... She's uh... She's gonna be alright. I think she's just... I think it's just going to take some time for her to get used to things. She's too strong to let this stop her."
Yang is a strong girl. Physically, but also mentally. She has such a strong will that you could call her stubborn, such as in her fight against Neo. And while Yang did take some time getting used to only having one arm, she didn't let it interfere with her day-to-day to life, and she hated how her incident with Adam left her with PTSD. Not wanting to be pitied or looked after by Tai, she took a chance on the prosthetic arm from Atlas in an attempt to re-forge her life and achieve a degree of normality that was more normal than being without it. Something I've mentioned elsewhere is that a good indication of Yang's inner state is her hair since it's so important to her and her vision of self. When it was tied up, so was she. But when her hair flows freely, that's when she's ready to burn brighter than everyone else.
4. "Yes, Junior. I have several. But instead of 'sweetheart,' you can just call me 'sir!'"
You ever seen Persona 4: The Animation? Do you remember the scene where Yu and Yosuke are sharing a tent with Kanji and he gets irritated with them for thinking he's gay, so he declares he's going to go sleep with the girls since they had more balls than them? Yeah, Yang is one of those girls that Yu referred to when he said, "For some girls, that is true."
Whether you call it balls, confidence, daredeviltry, or brash, Yang isn't afraid of doing what needs to be done in order to achieve her objective. She'll grab a guy by the balls, she'll destroy his club, she openly declares that she'll be turning heads, and she'll put herself at risk to help her friends. Of course, though, if Yang can have fun while doing it, she's going to. Let's not forget how she giggled after being launched off the cliff in The First Step.
Yang's favorite ballet is the Nutcracker.
(Is it true that Barbara actually grabbed Jack's balls once?)
5. "You're Yang Xiao Long. My sunny, little dragon."
Whenever we see Yang, we usually see her smiling and having fun. She's very positive and upbeat, and very few things get to her. In fact, it's unusual to see her bothered by something or even hurting. When she was bested by Neo, lost to Adam, and Blake didn't believe her or worse, ran away, those were all difficult moments for her. She's not one to sweat the small stuff. She can even take a jab thrown her way about her arm and her hair. Yang is emotionally resilient, and she can almost always find a reason to smile.
I need a better system than Print Screen.
 6. Bumblebee
Did you honestly think I was talking about the ship? Well, if you read the Top 10 Reasons Why Blake Should Be Your Favorite Character you wouldn't have. (Maybe I'll do a blog post on why I hate the ship so much and why it's actually a terrible idea.)
But, anyway, Yang's got a bike. And bikes are pretty cool. While I may not like bikers for their impetuous attitudes, I find it difficult to squash my desire for a motorcycle. I have fond memories of being a kid and zipping around my neighbor on my bike. What could be better than strapping 1000 CC's of power to that experience. And so, just like with Ruby and scythes, the cool factor of Bumblebee helps make Yang cool(er). And as far as we've seen, she's a safe and responsible driver, but very capable and skilled when the time comes. Which is more than we can say for the Fake AH Crew and their talents on bikes. (To be fair though, most of those blunders are Gavin.)
7. This Porridge Is Too Cold
Just like how Ruby is a great interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood, Yang is a great interpretation of Goldilocks. In fact, I'd say Yang is a huge improvement on the original. For one, she isn't a stupid kid who committed a B&E, raided someone else's food, messed up the ass grooves on their favorite chairs, and then invited herself over for a slumber party. And the only notable thing about Goldilocks was that she was a dumb blonde and a criminal. Yang's neither of those things, and her hair has more meaning to who she is than just a color. Still though, I'd love a direct reference or joke back to Goldilocks in RWBY. The scene where she killed a couple of Ursas isn't enough.
8. "Laugh all you want. I'll be turning heads tomorrow night."
Well, I told you all it was coming, and here it is: Yang is the sexiest member of Team RWBY and possibly the whole show. Which is a bold statement considering Yang has some pretty stiff competition from the likes of Neo and Emerald. Hell, even Glynda has a number of very committed fans. But for me, the victor is Yang, and it's not just because of two very large and obvious reasons. She's got a great ass, too! No, I kid. Although it did look good in the Yellow Trailer. But the reason why I saw Yang is the sexiest character is because she has both a banging body and a fun personality. Everyone wants to have fun and we all prefer to be around pretty things rather than ugly, so that instantly makes Yang a winner across the board. True, my RWBY waifu is probably Weiss and Ruby is the most adorable, but who wouldn't want to at the very least date Yang? It'd be a good time.
Did you know that Monty based Yang's dress off one
Marilyn Monroe wore?
9. Dumbass: I'm a master of Karate! Hi-ya!
Smartass: I'm a master of Ka-chuk.
Dumbass: What's Ka-chuck?
Smartass: *Pulls out a shotgun and pumps it*
The Ember Celica. Who in their right mind would strap a shotgun to a gauntlet? I criticize, but just like combining a rifle with a scythe, it's actually a great idea. It combines a long range weapon with a short range one, and who wouldn't want to attach a shotgun to a gauntlet. I'm pretty sure a lot of people think the hidden blade from Assassin's Creed is one of the coolest things ever, so why not attach a shotgun to a gauntlet? Never mind the fact you're strapping a shotgun's recoil straight to your arm. But, hey, if we're going to get that picky, we're going to have to dismantle every weapon in RWBY. So let's just enjoy the Ember Celica as it is and imagine ourselves punching someone we really don't like with them.
10. "With each hit, she gets stronger. And she uses that energy to fight back. That's what makes her special."
Yang's semblance. The ability to take damage and then dish it back twice as hard. It's a pretty good one. Admittedly, it has some flaws and Yang isn't always strong enough to take the hit, but come on, she's a friggin' Super Saiyan! And what's more, she's a female Super Saiyan. There aren't any of those in DBZ, and if Yang could fire a Kamehameha (my autocorrect recognizes Kamehameha but not saiyan), it'd be the hypest shit. In fact, I'm kind of surprised no one has done any art of Yang using the Kamehameha. (Fan artists! Don't let me down!)
But anyway, we've all had those moments when we get so pissed, we give people that "You're so dead" face and we want the vehemence of our anger to be reflected in how hard we hit them. There'd probably be a lot fewer trolls if that was true. Too bad we aren't all Super Saiyans, but at least Yang is.
"Oh! Looks like Yang is angry. And you wouldn't like her when she's... upset."
And there you have it. The Top 10 Reasons why Blake should be your favorite character. It you guys think I missed any, go ahead and add them in the comments below.
Keep writing, my friends.
