How could you sit there eating vegetarian sushi and look so pretty?

Miguel was embellished, looking at your straightened hair and band graphic tee. You were talking about some movie you wanted to see with him while eating a roll of sweat potato, cream cheese, and other ingredients.

“Amor, are you listening?” How he could not feel embarrassed when you’re giving him a sweet smile.

“Sorry, I got distracted” You arch your brow, playfully.

“By what? Is there a pretty waitress behind me?” He rolls his eyes as you giggle, leaning to eat from his noddles.

“Actually, I was getting lost on how good you look today.” Now he chuckles after seeing you so flustered and avoiding his eyes with a mouth full of sushi.

“Ay, pero qué bonita” You swear your cheeks are going to explode because of Miguel and his constant flattering.

You won’t believe it's been a week since you two started dating.

“Ya!” You try to stop him from laughing at your blushed face.

“Okay pues, bonita” Both of you smile at each other. And even the people around you who are eating seem con motioned by the cuteness of your lover’s antics for you.

“So… this winter… Are you teaching me how to drive finally?” he eyed you briefly but ended up nodding.

“I guess so. Just… we’ll get you a junk car to start” You rolled your eyes. Of course, he didn’t trust you after telling him of that little accident from last year.

“Despite that, I’m okay. I want a vintage rav4. That was my childhood car, well… my dad’s but” he chuckled. There were a lot of moments where he found you being so cute and adorable.

“Sorry… I’m still learning to shut up.”

“No, hermosa. Never shut up” and there was his silly smirk that had you on your knees. In that instance, he unconsciously showed all the love he felt for you.

“I warned you. But… What are you doing on Halloween night?” Jess was hosting a retro Halloween-themed party.

You already had your vintage bat costume with shimmers and see-through fabric.

“Not sure yet…” his answer disappointed you a little. Of course, the relationship was new, but you really wanted to spend Halloween with him.

“Oh. That’s okay.” And then, your answer disappointed him a little. He was debating whether to propose something to you or not.

“You have plans…” you shrugged, finishing your sushi roll.

“Not sure yet” Your smile was honest. But only you knew that your reply was a way to protect yourself. You trusted your boyfriend, but you weren’t ready for an early first fight or related.

Neither of you proposed something to do together. Maybe it wasn’t the best decision…

Halloween day and you didn’t talk with Miguel. At least you knew he had a long mission and since you were done with your part, you left without having an opportunity to exchange words with him. He had been talking with a woman. Once you suggested him to hang out with him that night in the folkloric earth you almost got burned like a medieval witch.

Talking about witches, no magic tonight.

That didn’t stop you from attending Jess’s party.

“Girl, look at you…” Jess greeted dressed in a seductive mummy costume. Her baby was attached to her hip and also dressed as a little mummy.

“Hey, you’re holding a baby, Jessica.” She giggles after realizing what you meant.

“Yeah, and you showed up here dressed like that” Although your costume wasn’t as sexy as hers, it was very noticeable.

“What can I say?” Both of you laugh and finally, you enter the house.

“Drinks are in the yard, most of the adults are there. For the kids, fried stuff and pizza” You can see most of your younger friends there, playing games and eating.

“I think I’m in the mood for the mezcal and fried lasagna.”

“You got it!” As Jess leaves his baby crawling towards Gwen, who’s dressed like a zombie, you follow the host of the party outside. Promising yourself to go back inside and greet your friends.

“Oh my god! Peter!” You greet shocked. Peter was in an elegant Dracula costume. He looked very nice, in contrast to his usual disheveled looks at the Spider Society’s HQ.

“You showered!” The other guests laugh, and you keep greeting other coworkers and friends.

“Very funny. But you? Where’s your silly boyfriend I know you want to impress?”

“Not here,” you say laughing. And Ben is offering the mezcal you oh so desperately needed.

To be honest, you missed him. But you were a little proud and stubborn to admit it. Also, while you sunk all the possible jealousy about seeing Miguel and that spider woman talking earlier, you were a little afraid. Because deep inside you knew there would be some miscommunication problems with Miguel.

“Get comfortable. Peter was about to tell us his most spooky experience” Jess says appearing with a beer in her hand.

“Ready for it…” With that, the first round of alcohol began.

An hour later you are dancing with Margo and Pavitr. Then, every word Peter and Ben said made you laugh so hard. You think they’ve never been funnier than that night. And that was a lot to say. Especially from Peter who was naturally funny as hell.

You really wanted to pee. But you had been laughing so hard with Jess, Hobie, Ben and Peter. You are near tearing from the bad jokes and sassy comments floating around.

“Time up, time up. I’m gonna pee if I don’t go now.” Jess tells you where the bathroom is, and you start your way inside. And then you turn to the kitchen, your eyes wide open as you spot your boyfriend.

Miguel is there, all dressed in black, drinking a beer and laughing with Anya Corazón.

Jealousy makes your blood boil. But suddenly sadness floods you. The disappointment beats the anger, triggered by the high amount of alcohol in your system. Your brain knew it was silly and immature. But since the day of the sushi date, you had that little torn stuck, where Miguel wasn’t adding you completely to his plans.

As soon as Miguel spots you with teary eyes, you turn around, directly to the house door.

“Hey, wait up…” Miguel stops you a few steps away from the entrance.

“Are…Are you crying?” He asks when you finally face him.

You couldn’t help it. It was the insecurity of being with such a great and difficult person. So, you sigh, eyes all teary and a red nose tip too.

“Well. I had a really good time. And the last thing I expected on my way to the bathroom was finding my boyfriend drinking beers and laughing closely with a girl.” He sighs, his tall and broad figure covering your whole figure from any possible guest trying to see what is happening.

You looked very beautiful. He wasn’t even sure if Jess invited you, but how could have been so stupid? Of course, she would.

“I didn’t know you were coming” he admits. Calm tone, and a neutral face, but he avoids your eyes.

You look at him reluctantly. So, since he didn’t know he could be giggling and shit with girls? Nah, no way.

“Yeah… And that’s the fucking problem” you attack with a broken voice, leaving him there standing alone. Avoiding a fight.

He’s about to follow you. But he stays there, not even understanding what happened. But he questioned if it was over. A struck strike him in the heart. If he unintentionally hurt you, he would be fully disappointed with himself. Not on Halloween night. Not one day before a special one for him.

He would do things right.

But for the rest of the night, you don’t leave his head and thoughts in peace.

Hey, why you left the party? Please call me, I need to know what happened.

Babe, Miguel told me what happened last night. He’s an asshole, but he loves you so much. Please talk to him.

My dear friend, I’m sorry for what happened yesterday. We were having such a great time. Listen, Miguel will try to talk to you. Tomorrow is a hard day for him. We know our boy, he’s not good with words and feelings, but he cares for you a lot. I talked to him all night after you left. He wasn’t right, but you have to talk to him, he loves you.

It’s gonna be fine, honey. Jess, me, the kids, we’re here for you. Love you!

And finally, Miguel.

Mi niña hermosa, I literally have no words to explain what happened last night. I just need you to know that… I love you. We need to talk about this, please.

Miguel sounded like a big teddy bear, saying lovely words to soothe you. It made your heart flutter, and it increased your hangover.

“Fuck…” you whispered, rubbing your eyes.

Flashes start hitting you. Having a great night, then seeing Miguel with Anya, and basically leaving him alone. How idiot you were.

You could have talked like a grown adult instead of throwing a tantrum and crying.

But you felt weird since he avoided telling you his plans for Halloween.

And finally, it hit you.

Maybe Miguel didn’t tell you anything because the following day of Halloween was Día de Muertos. A special day for him to remember his kid. He barely talked about Gabriella though. But the brief moments where he mentioned her to you, were unmatched. He missed his little girl. And you couldn’t imagine the pain of losing a daughter. You couldn’t leave Miguel alone. Or at least without an apology.

What a terrible girlfriend.

However, that didn’t excuse him from his poor communication skills.

You would do things right.

From both sides of the door, there's nervousness rushing.

You tug the hem of your skirt, then you hurry to brush your hair and wait. Miguel’s heart pounds as he suspects it’s you who’s knocking on the door. Since he rarely received visitors. So, when he opens the door, he finds you looking extremely shy and blushed.

“I’m sorry. I acted so immature, and I know today is a special day for you. I brought some things for you to use. And I’ll leave, I just wanted you-”

He pulls you in a tight hug, making you shut up. Around three minutes pass and he still holds you in his giant arms. You feel there are no more words needed as if the hug was a mutual apology.

Miguel digs his nose into your hair, smelling your shampoo and he thanks life for getting you two back together.

“I just wanted you here today with me…” he mumbles on your lips, before diving back and kissing your lips.

Finally, without breaking the kiss, he closes the door and leads you to the living room. His sneaky hands twirl you to make it easy. As your fingers get lost through his soft hair, he leans closer, holding your tiny waist compared to his hands. Your permission is when he stops his hands from traveling further, but you make him hold your hips. So, it’s enough. He kisses you with a smile on his face. Until you end up playing on his grey couch.

To you, is a bed. To Miguel, is his couch.

You know you’ll get your humbling moment. An impossible blush to miss appears and makes your boyfriend smirk.

“You don’t deserve it” his voice sounds deeper, and it sends shivers through your whole body and soul. Maybe you were guiltier than him, but you were so stubborn to act all submissive now. The best you could do was to take and savor what he decided to offer.

“But I’ll give it to you anyways…” your hands pull his shoulders to smash his lips again. Miguel knows he can proceed once his eyes are closed. So, he starts venturing his lips across your jaw and neck. You let out the first moan, and you’re glad you decided to appear on his doorstep.

The bed is wet. Not much, but there are some water spots that feel warm and cold at the same time. There’s also your empty wine glass when you turn left. Nueva York is setting for the sunset. You smile, stretching and savoring the pleasure of the little nap you took. Then Miguel comes in, in some damn grey sweats and his naked chest, your smile grows. And you can’t help but think you want him again.

Thank God you’re naked.

“You just woke up and you’re already looking that pretty?” you giggle at his comment. Your hair must be curled thanks to the shower. To Miguel, you look adorable, all his and only his.

“Put some shirt on…” he chuckled, cheekily.

“What? Am I turning you on again, bonita?”

“Isn’t it obvious?” you hide under the covers laughing recklessly. And your heart pounds faster as you know he’ll likely scare you or something.

He does, and you have to scream. As you pop your head, you see him laughing.

“You just came out of the shower?” You ask him. Miguel probably washed your hair and took you out of the tub. Since you know you fell asleep as he washed your body in the tub.

“Not really. I just grabbed some things for the altar” his comment reminds you of what you’re celebrating that day. And suddenly you remember everything that led you to be there naked in his bed, and your heart warms.

“I’m sorry” you honestly say.

Miguel tilts his head, arms crossed, making him look broader than ever.

“I said it was okay, nena” he knows you want to say more. You make space for him to sit at the edge of the bed.

“Yeah, you said it. But… I want this relationship to succeed. I want to know we won’t go through this again.” He sighs, but quickly smiles, caressing your leg.

“It won’t happen again. Something bothers us, we talk” and just like that, you have your massive boyfriend kissing you all over. He said Anya was an old recruit, she was a good friend and lately, she rarely spent time on the HQ, so Miguel was happy to talk to her. And you blushed out of embarrassment.

“Can we go cooking now?” Miguel nods. After letting you go, he threw a big sweatshirt at you. It was dark brown and covered you from chest to knees.

“It’s been a while since I used the stove and oven…”

“Doesn’t matter, dear” As Miguel follows you across his apartment, he can’t help but notice how small you look in his place. And he reminds himself how weird you look in Nueva York, generally. You don’t belong to any specific earth. Chaos magic witches barely existed, and they never glitched.

You haven’t used magic in the last days since your last mission. Not even you had time to remember. Since the Halloween party, your mind had spun over your friends, Halloween, Miguel, her friend Anya, and your jealousy.

But soon he forgets again about it because you are eager to make pan de muerto with him.

“You can help me with the cream. We’re making a liquor and cheese filling” his mouth watered. Since he left his childhood home. He never did pan de muerto again.

His mother used to bake with some alcohol too, but the fillings weren’t very popular at the time. And now, being able to retake that tradition with you was special to him. His little girl would be very happy to his dad smiling again. Miguel mixes everything together and with a little spoon, he hands it to you.

“Is it good?” He asks shyly, you open your mouth, and he gives you to taste the filling.

“Wow, this is amazing, Miguel. I love it!” He smiles proudly. You are about to dip your finger in the cream to taste it again, but your man snatched it away.

“Hey!” He soothes your discontent with a new kiss. And you’re beyond shocked about how often Miguel was kissing you now. You let his tongue in, and between the rest of the cream and Miguel’s incredible kissing abilities, you had to moan again.

“Okay, pause. Or else we won’t finish” you explain, returning to the oven to see how the flour was getting puffy and the smell of orange filled the air of the kitchen.

Nueva York was welcoming the sunset early as the time was about to change in early November. So, the kitchen tiles reflect an interesting pink and orange illumination. Seeing Miguel placing the cream on a piping bag with the sunset in the window in front of him, makes you happy. The air is dry, and your nose feels dry too. There’s a warm wind that stumbles off the windows, startling you often, but it’s perfect.

You are in love.

“And… done!” You say lighting one last candle, you go back with Miguel to hug his waist and appreciate the art you two made. It’s a fucsia, orange, purple, and gold Altar de Muertos.

“This is perfect” Miguel admits. The altar has everything. The food; paletas payaso, bubulubus and picafresas. Then there’s a big plate of polvorones, flan, arroz con leche and agua de horchata. The candles make the pan de muerto shine because of the sugar. And the cempasúchil petals made everything look even prettier.

On the top shelf, Gabriella O’Hara’s picture was placed. She had a pink sweatshirt and her soccer headband. But her big smile and light blush are what made Miguel smile widely. He truly missed her. But he always knew having her on that earth wasn’t meant to be.

And now, he knew that thanks to that… he found you.

And who knows? Maybe Miguel could have a kid of his own in earth-928 someday with you. He had nothing to fear again. He knew you two were meant to fall into pieces together, just like it had happened. And Miguel also knew how proud Gabriella was of him. So, he was celebrating her short life. He would apologize every year from now on. But he would also use November 1st to remember how much he loved her.

Just like he did with you.

“Te amo mucho, preciosa” You raise your head to look at him in shock.

It was the first I love you. And he said it. But your emotion and love make you quickly answer.

“Yo también, Miguel” his head tilts to bump with yours in the most adorable way.

He walks away to grab something from the side of the altar. When he turns, he gives you a gorgeous bouquet of cempasúchil.

“I saved this for you” he scratches the back of his head, nervously.

“How did you know I wanted one?” It’s your smile that makes his days. And he intends to be a constant reason in the long term.

“I just knew. And when we were doing the altar… Fue tu carita la que te delató, bonita” Giggles and a blush erupt from you.

“Thanks, corazón” you thank him shyly.

Thankfully the sound of the oven makes you widen your eyes.

“OH! The rest of the pan” you squeal excitedly, almost running to the kitchen.

He follows you chuckling.

Soon, there are two plates of azulejos on the table, with two pieces of pan de muerto filled with liquor and cream cheese. Some candles are there too and the cempasúchil bouquet is now in water. As the pan starts to get less warm, you are softly kissing Miguel again. And for the first time in years, both of you are so happy to be celebrating Día de Muertos.

It wasn’t about death anymore. It was about love.

The chorus of beeping was playing as you stared at the boy who was still asleep. You looked to Wednesday who was sitting beside you, “We’ve got to go, visiting hours are up in a hour.”

“It’s all my fault. I was the reason he was out in the woods.”

“Wednesday-“

“Don’t say it isn’t, we both know it is.”

You crossed your arms, “Well then shouldn’t we be out there finding the monster? Or did I only think that I knew who you were?” 

Wednesday stated at you, she then stood up and grabbed her bag. “I hate when you are right.” 

You grinned, “Sure you do.” You stood up, looking back at Eugene, you waved bye.

You and Wednesday began planning but there was one, huge, wrench that was going to be thrown in your plans:

Parents Weekend.

You where sitting at your workplace when got a call from your mother. And that was a rare occurrence.

“Sweetheart! It’s mummy!” She said, voice ringing out softly.

“Hi Mom, are you going to be here for Parents Weekend?”

You heard the clicking of her makeup bottles and the clanging of a glass being sat down. “Of course, sweetie! Wouldn’t miss it for the world!”

You lightly grinned, “You missed the last three.”

“Oh, that was out of my control. The spotlight stops for no actress.”

“Yeah.” You held back a few tears.

Your mother was a theater actress and she started out as magician’s assistant, the magician happened to be your father. They had gotten divorced so she went to New York and she was traveling all around the world and somewhere in there, she had you. 

“I love you sweetheart! I will be there, will he be there?”

You thought before you answered, “Yeah, he said he might.” They always tried to one up the other, so you mentally prepared 

“Oh,” she paused, “Alright! Hugs and kisses, buh-bye!” 

She hung up. You just sat there for a minute. You hoped this went good. 

You kept that thought as you watched your father walk in. A tall, built man with dark hair and eyes that twinkled with mischief. He was dressed in a nice suit, reminiscent of his ringleader uniform. His sharp eyes landed on you, he began to walk to you, “Well well,” his circus voice flowed, “My little man,”

He stopped right in front of you, looking down, “And how are we doing today?” His smile was wide. 

“I’m great! So Pops I wa-“

“Is that you, sweetheart?” 

You turned to see your mother. Her blood red makeup attention to her eyes, which seemed to be staring completely through you, her flowing dress hung off her like a liquid shadow. Her hair was the same color as yours and hung in ringlets. “Come to Mummy, sweetheart.”  She opened her arms for a hug.

“Mom-“

“Thalia, it’s weird for a young to call his mother that.” Your father said, without skipping a beat.

“Well, Hudson, what you know about mothers?” She snapped back.

“Anyway,” you said, “It’s great to see both of you! I actually have someone I want you to meet.” You grinned.

“Of course, son. Who are they?”

“She’s my girlfriend.” You led them to where Wednesday stood, talking to her family. When she turned and saw you, she walked up to you.

“Mom, Pops, this is Wednesday.”

“Like that poem?” Your father asked.

“Yes. About the weekday children.” Your mother answered for him.

“It’s nice to meet you both.” She said,

voice monotone.

“So,” you mother wondered aloud, “how long have you two been dating?” 

Wednesday answered and you looked at your father who was watching her with slight confusion. 

“That’s wonderful!” You mother clapped her hands together, “I think you both look darling together.”

Your dad finally chimed in, “What’s your last name?”

“Addams.”

You saw your father’s eyes lighten, “Are you Fester Addams niece?”

“Yes.”

You dad began to laugh, it came deep from his chest. You looked at your mothers sour expression as she knew what the man was laughing about.

“Thalia, remember that time Ol’ Fezzy shocked you so bad we didn’t have to use the lion for the performance.” Your dad wiped a tear from his eye.

“Very vividly, Hudson. Just like that time you got shot out of the cannon directly into the side of a elephant.” 

You looked at the ground at their bickering, Wednesday noticed. “I would like to borrow him for a minute. I would like for him to meet my family.”

“Oh!” You mother looked at you, “Well I can’t stay, I’m sorry sweetheart.” She hugged you. “I will see in the summer. Buh-bye!”

You waved bye to her, looking at your dad.

“Well bud, I gotta run too. Someone’s gotta make cotton candy dreams come true.” Your dad patted you on the shoulder as he left. You sighed, trying to not let the disappointment radiate. 

“It’s alright.” Wednesday said, gently holding your hand. “If are up to meet my family, I think they will loathe you.”

You smiled slightly, “Thank you.” You walked hand in hand to a group of people and you immediately knew they were Wednesdays family. The entire family shared the same fashion sense and you noticed the calm demeanor of her mother and the cheerful one of her father, then the mixed blend in her brother.

“Mother, Father, this is my boyfriend.”

“You’re dating Wednesday?” Pugsley asked, genuine surprise.

“Shut it. I don’t have time to hang you from the rafters.” Wednesdays retorted.

“Ah! Young man,” Gomez put a hand on your shoulder, patting you, “So you’re the one our little nightmare is obsessed with?”

You smiled, “I think it’s mutual and yes, I am proud to say I am.”

Diagon Alley was more magical than it led on to be. Not only was it the most popular place to buy magical goods in the U.K., but it contained a bit of magic for those with a lonely heart, as well.

Y/n y/l/n dated George Weasley for what seemed like forever in Hogwarts. However, as most good things, it had come to an end by the time they graduated. Something about the twin’s business and y/n wanting to achieve her goals as well. Words were spoken that could not have been taken back and as quickly as the two’s relationship began: it had come to an end.

After their years at Hogwarts they were happy for some time. Life had changed. Brought blessings for each. George: a flourishing business. y/n: her dream job at the ministry and a beautiful baby girl.

Though, things changed for both of them, they remained the same at heart. And, luckily for them both, Diagon Alley was just small enough for them to reunite at last.

y/n walked down a rather busy street in Diagon Alley, clutched hand in hand with her little girl who walked by her side. Fate, was the last thing on her mind. Absorbed completely in making sure her daughter didn’t leave her sight, she paid little attention to the world around her. It wasn’t until she crashed into George Weasley that she knew the hands of fate held onto her tightly. Their eyes met, both slightly disheveled from the bumpy meeting. It was as if no time, really, between Hogwarts and the present had passed.

George intently took her in. She hadn’t changed at all. Still beautiful in every way, still the perfect fit for George. Y/n stared back, George was just as she remembered and more. They stayed in silence for a moment, both stunned at the sudden arrival. George was the first to disturb the silence.

Before another could utter a word, a very hungry little girl pulled on her mother’s coat asking for some ice cream. Both sets of eyes casted their way towards the child.

“Mummy,” she pleaded with large eyes. “Can we get ice cream from Florean. You promised.”

y/n stroked her daughter’s cheek, “I did promise that, didn’t I? And ice cream we shall get, my dear.”

She smiled lovingly at the girl, still holding her hand. George’s longing looks became more apparent as he brought himself to speak, “Is she yours’s?”

“Yes,” y/n returned with a rather large smile. “This is my little girl.”

“You’ve raised her all on your own?” he inquired. Quickly judging the soon-to-be sour expression on y/n’s face he quickly caught himself, “Not that I don’t think you can! Because you most definitely can! You’re probably a better parent than anyone could ever be, but–oh merlin!– I just was wondering.”

“What? About the father?” y/n answered him, head cocked and smiling. George only nodded as a response, “Not sure to be honest. He was gone before I even found out. But its better this way. I got her all on my own, no strings, just us.”

She sighed, looking out at the busy street next to them. George fawned over he beauty, surely it was impossible to be that perfect? He thought about them. What he said that night to make her leave. How she took what was hers and left moments later without a single word.

“Do you regret it?” George spoke weakly, very suddenly.

Y/n looked perplexed at his unforeseen question, “Regret what?”

“You and I,” He affirmed unsurely. “Do you regret: you and I?”

She stared blankly for a moment. A response was unable to come naturally from her lips. y/n swallowed, “I don’t. I don’t regret anything at all really.”

She smiled, trying her hardest to ease the Weasley twin in front of her, “Not you, what we did, the time shared. In fact, I would give anything to do it all over again.” y/n looked down blushingly, before dropping her smile. “But, what I do regret was letting you go. Or rather you making me let go so easily. I think I would have fought a bit harder or maybe said some things differently in the end to make you stay.”

George stared into her beautiful eyes intently, soaking in every word.

“But that’s over. There’s nothing to be done. What has passed, has passed. We can’t go back and change things.”

Her eyes darted downwards to her feet, unable to bring them back up to meet the man who stood in front of her. George shifted and offered his hand out to y/n. She looked up, surprised at his gesture, only to see him staring down as well.

“y/n,” he started. “I know I can’t change the past or change what we did, but I would love nothing more than a chance to start again.”

He paused for a moment, his head swam with what to say and how to say it. “Look, I’m not asking for a second chance. If I’m being honest I don’t deserve that for how I left things off, but I love you too much to leave without a final word. And if you want me out of your life forever, just say the word. Because I will make sure that the moment I turn down the corner, I will never come back on it again. You will never see my face.”

Y/n hesitated with gaping breaths. She inhaled sharply, “George, I don’t know what to say. I-“

“Then don’t say anything.” George interrupted, taking her hand.

She shook her head vigorously, “George, look at me. I have a child and a life and I’m as good as a burden. I’m not same girl I was at Hogwarts when we were young. You deserve adventure, excitement. And I don’t have any of that.”

George stared at her, almost confused at her words. “Y/n,” he spoke slowly. “My adventure is you, it always has been. I can’t think of anything else I’d rather have then you. I don’t care if you had a hundred children or none, a life with you and your daughter is one that I’m ready for.” He laughed gently, as tears streamed down the woman’s face.

“Who am I kidding,” he continued. “I would kill to be a part of your little family and make it ours,” George swallowed. “That’s if you’d let me, of course.”

“Oh, George,” y/n swallowed her tears. “Oh, George, of course I want you to be a part of our family. I love you.”

George lifted her up, spinning her in the road. He pressed a soft kiss against her cheek and a blush crawled up their faces. For a single moment their life was peace.

“Come, Georgie,” y/n beamed. “Come meet my other love.”

And from those words, they blossomed into the happy family they both wanted to be.

Egypt Finds Tomb of Ramses II's Royal Treasurer Ptah-M-Wiah at Saqqara Necropolis

The discovery was made by the Cairo University archaeological mission, which has been excavating the complex for more than a century

Archaeologists working in the Saqqara necropolis, in Giza governorate, have announced a major new discovery at the ancient tomb complex.

A Cairo University mission unearthed the tomb of Ptah-M-Wiah, a high-ranking ancient Egyptian official and head of the treasury during the reign of King Ramses II.

Ramses II ruled from 1279 BC to 1213 BC.

“What makes this tomb unique is the area it was found in,” said Dr Ola El Aguizy, who led the archaeological mission that discovered the tomb.

“A number of very important military leaders, statesmen and aristocrats were buried there, most of whom date back to the reign of Ramses II,” she told The National.

Dr El Aguizy adding that Horemheb, the famed military leader who became pharaoh and ushered in the 19th dynasty of ancient Egypt – from 1292 BC to 1189 BC – was found buried nearby.

The dig was overseen by the secretary general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr Mostafa Waziri.

He said that the discovery of Ptah-M-Wiah’s tomb is particularly significant because of the high position he held in Ramses II’s Cabinet.

Alongside being the royal treasurer, he also served as royal scribe, chief supervisor of livestock and the government’s main administrator of divine offerings at Rameses II’s temple in Thebes, modern-day Luxor.

Dr El Aguizy also highlighted Ptah-M-Wiah’s prestigious roles.

“We know through the inscriptions that he headed the entire kingdom's livestock, which is a very distinguished role,” she said.

“Additionally, he oversaw all the ritual sacrifices at the temples in Thebes, which was the religious centre of the kingdom at the time.

“So his influence was present in both the upper and lower kingdoms, which is no small feat,” Dr El Aguizy said.

Teams of researchers from Cairo University have been excavating ancient Egypt's treasures for more than a century. Their latest discovery fitted in well with the grandeur of previous discoveries in the area.

“The tomb itself is much like others we have found in the area before, most of which date back to the Ramesside era of the New Kingdom,” said Dr El Aguizy.

The Ramesside period – which spanned the 19th and 20th dynasties, between 1292 BC and 1075 BC – is renowned for its prosperity, as shown by the grandeur of its archaeological treasures.

Ptah M Wiah's tomb, like most other Ramesside-era tombs, is made up of a grand entrance adorned with an edifice depicting scenes from its occupant's life, and features two inner chambers.

The first chamber was usually left bare, while the second chamber would be much more ornate, featuring decorative columns flanking the entombed mummy.

The columns, known as Osirian columns after the god Osiris, are meant to connect the earth to the sky, bridging the world of the living with the afterlife, Dr El Aguizy said.

“Osirian columns are a symbol. The ancient Egyptians believed that they would grow to reach the heavens, and through this, Ra, the god of the heavens, would make contact with Osiris, the god of the underworld, and their realms would be connected,” she said.

Also found in Ptah-M-Wiah's tomb were a number of stone blocks, which Dr El Aguizy said were once part of the ceiling and walls of the tomb, but had fallen down over the centuries.

This kind of wear and tear is typical of other tombs found in the area, she said.

On one of the walls left standing is a large painting depicting a procession of people carrying offerings which ends with a scene of a calf being slaughtered.

“We found scenes of the afterlife that were really striking – the style of Ramesside tombs is really intricate and quite beautiful,” Dr El Aguizy said.

The artefacts will be catalogued and then placed back in the tomb, in their original positions, so they can be seen by visitors when it opens to tourists, Dr Waziri said.

The oldest evidence of human tattoos is believed to be from between 3370BC and 3100BC. The mummy Otzi the Iceman was discovered in the Alps in September 1991, and the mummy was naturally preserved.Otzi the Iceman had 61 tattoos on his body.

Also Close examination of the markings on the mummy indicate that soot or fireplace ash were used to create the tattoos. Locations where tattooing practices have been recorded on human remains, include: Alaska, Mongolia, Greenland, Egypt, China, Sudan, Russia, and the Philippines. All of these discoveries link to different periods of time throughout ancient history. Some of these date back to 2100 BC.

Ancient and Traditional Practices

Ancient China tattoo: Some cemeteries across western China in the province of Xinjiang have revealed a number of mummies with tattooed skin. Some mummies date as far back as 2100 BC, while others are considerably younger, dating to around 550 BC. Within ancient Chinese practices, tattooing was considered to be barbaric and was highly stigmatized

Ancient Chinese literature refers to folk heroes and bandits as having tattoos. It is also thought to have been fairly common for convicted criminals to be branded with a tattoo on their face. This tattoo was used to warn other members of society that this person could not be trusted.

Ancient Egypt tattoo

There have been discoveries of tattooed mummies from ancient Egypt, which suggest that the practice here dates back to at least 2000BC. Some theories indicate that the tattoos found on the mummies were for decorative purposes. Research by Daniel Fouquet suggests that, in ancient Egypt, tattoos may have even been performed as a medical treatment.

Samoa Tattoo

Tattooing has formed a part of Samoan cultural traditions for thousands of years. The history of tattooing in Samoa is a great example of how tattoos can form an integral part of social culture. It is even believed that the modern-day English word ‘tattoo’ may have originated from the Samoan word for tattoo ‘tatau’.

The tradition of giving and receiving tattoos by hand in Samoa has been practiced for more than two thousand years. The techniques and tools used for this traditional practice have hardly changed during this time either. The skill is taught and passed down from father to son.

The tool used to give the tattoos is handmade, from turtle shell and boor’s teeth.The process of receiving traditional tattoos takes many weeks to complete. Tattooing ceremonies are generally held to mark a younger chief’s ascension to a leadership role within society.

American tattoo culture.

Tattoos in the United States can be divided into two epochs: tattoos in pre-colonial Native American culture, and those in contemporary American culture.

Perhaps the most popularized instance of Native American tattoos entering the minds of the British can be found in the trip of four Mohawk men to London in the early 1700s. These men were tattooed across their chests, faces and arms, and the fervor they created in London can hardly be overstated. People were enraptured by the tattoos and the men themselves. It served as a microcosm of Western views of natives — people at once admired the men as noble while scorning them as savages.

In any event, tattoos were common among tribes in America. They were created using sharpened instruments like needles and bones to prick the skin, then by rubbing dark soot into the open wound. Tattoos were a means of celebrating achievements in life and in warfare.

In the modern United States, tattoos were once seen as fit for misfits, sailors and motorcyclists. However, perhaps aided by the television show Miami Ink, tattoos have become widespread and popular among young people. This show served to show the glamour and artistry involved in tattooing. It shifted the public perception of tattoo parlors as cool places to work and to be. This trend continues to evolve today.

Europe tattoo culture.

It wasn’t until the 1700s that tattoos began to break out of the cage of stigma and enjoy some measure of favorability once again. Sailors began to return from journeys to the South and Central Pacific islands with exotic tattoos that they had done by the native people that they encountered during their travels. Tattoos were an important part of Tahitian culture and the natives had been covered with beautifully done tattoos that caused the sailors to marvel and want tattoos of their own. Soon, these sailors were returning home and showing off their new body art, causing quite the stir amongst European society.

In the 1700s, tattoos became popular among British naval officers after Captain Cook brought back tattooed natives from Polynesia. It was also common for French sailors to return from trips to the South Pacific with tribal tattoos--a trend that continued until 1861, 

Extinction Of Tattoo Culture From Europe

The tattoo culture was present in Europe like everywhere else before it practiced out after the church edict forbade them on the pretext of some quotes in Bible. As Christianity advanced in Europe the tattoo culture died gradually. It was a popular trend to mark a Christian body only if it meant to represent as a culprit of some shameful deed. This was how somewhere till 17th century, the tattoo art almost extinct from Europe.

Also During an 1862 trip to Jerusalem, the Prince of Wales got a tattoo of a cross. Later his sons, Prince Albert and Prince George, received dragon tattoos in Japan from Hori Chyo, a tattoo genius 

Following a markedly patchy and varying history, the tattoos of today’s Europe have once more become commonplace in all classes. From the working class to Royalty, you can still see tattoos throughout modern Europe.

Japanese tattoo culture

Japanese tattooing, or irezumi, is said to have originated in the Jomon Period (10,000 BCE-300 CE). Modern styles of tattooing seen today grew from the Edo Period (1603-1868), when tattooing in Japan became illegal. Tattooing in Japan has for the most part always been controversial, with ties to criminal activity and filial piety . Many establishments, such as public pools and hot springs, or onsens, outwardly ban those with visible tattoos, no matter how small they may be. With the growing number of Western visitors flocking to Japan, current laws and societal stigmas surrounding tattoos are becoming not only confusing, but harmful for this Japanese art form, as more and more government officials work to ban tattoos for natives but be respectful to inked visitors

Men of Wa, what was then called Japan, decorated their faces and bodies with designs such as fish and shells. The tattoos were used as protection symbols or ornamental designs that varied among tribes and induvial according to rank. Other historical texts point to the importance of tattoos to samurai in the sixteenth century as forms of identification. Certain areas marked soldiers in order to better identify them after death on the battlefield, as scavenger often looted bodies of their belongings

The Ainu, an indigenous tribe from the Hokkaido region, have a longstanding history with tattooing. Ainu tattoos were first recorded by Girolamo de Angelis in 1612 and are most found around the moth, cheeks, forehead and eyebrows. These tattoos were used for cosmetic and tribal purposes, as well as symbols of religion and sexual maturity. Girls first received tattoos between the ages of 10 and 13, some much younger, and continued tattooing until they reached a marriageable age. The Japanese government first tried to outlaw Ainu tattooing in 1799 with little luck, but passed stronger ordnances in 1871 with the arrival of Westerners. Even though tattooing was prohibited, many continued to tattoo in secret.

Modern day Japanese tattooing rose in the Edo period (1600-1867) in cities such as Edo (modern day Tokyo) and Osaka. The development of woodblock printing, ukiyo-e, in the eighteenth century helped further develop the art of tattooing, as more and more people were exposed to tattooed heroes featured in published illustrations and novels. With the rise in popularity of tattooing, the government outlawed the art on the ground that it was “deleterious to public morals

South Korean tattoo culture

The history of tattoos in South Korea goes back to before the 4th century. Tattoos were used by fishermen from the country’s coastal regions to ward off evil spirits and bring them good luck in their endeavours. During the Joseon Dynasty, the significance of tattoos became much more negative; in the 19th century, they became commonly associated with crime. Individuals found to have committed wrongdoing (including theft and adultery), were marked with the name of their misdeed. During this period, slaves were also marked with their master’s name. Tattoos are often considered to go against Confucian values, which hold that as your body was passed down to you by your parents, it is a mark of disrespect to alter it in any way — for the same reason, many people did not cut their hair. In the 20th century, tattoos became associated with criminal gangs, who used tattoos to signal their family and allegiances.

Like nearby Japan and China, tattoos are still associated with gangsters. Many schools forbid students from getting tattoos, and young men with large tattoos cannot be accepted into the country’s mandatory military service (and so are often accused of draft-dodging, a criminal offence). Some saunas and jimjilbangs will ask tattooed patrons to leave.

Tattoo culture in South Asia

There is a long tradition of ancestor worship and spirit magic in many areas of Southeast Asia. Specific tattoos are intended to offer protection from bad or evil spirits. Some tattoos are also intended to offer protection from illness.

Buddhists believe that life is suffering, punctuated by brief episodes of joy. The state of Nirvana is achieved when we have victory over our suffering and move beyond it.

In the Buddhist sacred tradition, tattoos are used to represent the teaching of Buddha and to remind us that our goal is to achieve a state of Nirvana.

There’s no doubting that modern tattooing would be nowhere without such ancient tattooing traditions. In this sense, exploring the world of ancient tattoos can be a culturally distinct experience that transports us to both another time and place.

For example, The Batok traditional tapping tattoo in the Philippines is practiced by a traditional Kalinga tattoo artist called a Mambabatok. This form of traditional tattooing is performed by a woman called Whang-Od who was born in 1917.

Sadly, Kalinga tattooing in this tradition is a dying art form, and it is believed that Whang-Od is the last of her kind.

Unlike modern tattoos, these tapping tattoos are applied with a mix of charcoal and water as the ink, which is fixed beneath the skin using a sharp stick and a wooden block as the hammer.

It may be more painful than modern methods, but there is nowhere else where you can get such a tattoo.

A Sweet, Fruity Surprise

Violet’s eyes wandered around the basketball court, the constant dribbling the only sound her mind was registering besides that of her quick breathing. Marlon stood in front of her; the dullahan had a serious yet carefree, competitive expression on his face. His red headguard glistened with sweat, a bead of which slid down and splattered on the wooden flooring. The werewolf shifted her weight and began to go to the right; the dullahan matched her speed and soon blocked her way.

The werewolf’s ear tucked down for a moment, annoyed by her friend’s speed before she rushed to the right again, feinting a move before passing the ball over to Chester the mummy. Marlon’s eyes shot over to where the ball was passed, giving Violet a moment to disappear from his sight. While everyone was focused on Chester the werewolf positioned herself to make an easy layup. With a well timed pass, Violet received the ball, her sneakers squeaking against the court as she jumped up, her tail beginning to wag faster as the ball hit the backboard and swooshed through the basket.

Violet landed with a soft thud, her tail swaying back and forth at an even faster pace. Marlon looked sad for a split second but then gave a warm smile to his friend as he wiped the sweat of his headgear. A whistle from the sidelines drew the basketball team’s attention over to Coach Mike. The minotaur began to clap and walked over towards his team, his hooves clacking against the wood.

“Good job today, guys. That wraps up practice for the day. Make sure to bring enough water to tomorrow’s practice. We’ll be working on our guarding.” He gave a soft smile to the basketball team who were all catching their breaths, their focus split between their coach’s words and the water they were chugging, desperate for it to quench their exhaustion. After a few more words the different monsters began to split off, grabbing their bags and other random items and heading out for the day.

“Marlon, Violet.” Coach Mike stopped by the door. “Mind picking up the spare basketballs while I talk to the principal?”

“Sure,” Violet tossed her water bottle against her backpack, causing it to tumble to the ground and spin around in a circle.

“Leave it to us, Coach,” Marlon said, jogging over to start the work. With one final nod the minotaur exited the court, leaving the pair of friends alone to clean up.

“That was a good move today, Vi.” Marlon knelt down and picked up a basketball, tucking it under his arm.

“Thanks,” Violet took a basketball and tossed it towards the metal equipment bin. Her tail wagged excitedly when she saw that she had successfully landed it in.

“I’ve still got a lot to work on, but hey, my head didn’t fall off this time,” Marlon lightly tapped the side of his bright red headgear. Violet looked up, giving a short smile.

“Yeah, that practice didn’t end well,” Violet took another basketball and tossed it towards the bin. Marlon gave a small laugh then struggled to balance five basketballs in his arms. The dullahan shuffled over and with a small grunt dropped them all in the equipment bin. “Hey, at least we get practice,” Marlon’s words shifted the mood in the room for a minute.

The werewolf took a moment to wipe off some sweat from her forehead. She knew what Marlon meant. It had been a struggle to get the basketball team off the ground. There weren't many monster schools in the area, let alone the state. Regardless, Marlon and Violet had worked hard to convince Principal Christa to give it a chance and after getting the team together they were finally able to play basketball as a team. It was a rarity to get games with other monster schools but still they got to play. Violet’s eyes looked down at her tail then over at Marlon’s headgear. With their physical features there was no way they’d ever get to play on another team. The werewolf glanced toward Marlon then walked over, dribbling a basketball. “Bet you can’t get a three pointer in the equipment bin,” Violet gave a small smirk.

Marlon’s blue eyes shot over, looking at his friend before he picked up a basketball and dribbled it a few times then spun it on his finger. “I could do it with my eyes closed. If anyone couldn’t score, it’d be you,”

Violet’s tail stopped for a second at those words before swaying back and forth at a steady pace. “We’ll see about that,” Violet took a couple steps back, her hands bouncing the ball a few times before she looked at the equipment bin and positioned her hands. With a steady breath she shot the basketball, her feet lightly leaving the ground on her jump. The ball hit the wall and spun around the bin then settled in the middle. Marlon gave a whistle, impressed by his friend’s skill.

“Damn, Vi.” Marlon walked back, dribbling the ball back and forth between his hands then stopped at the three point marker. His eyes looked at the equipment then down at the ball. Focusing all of his attention, he released the ball. The basketball spun around in the air and landed safely, tucked in between a few other basketballs.

Violet let out a soft laugh. “Guess I was wrong,” She was about to say more when a familiar voice made her ears perk up.

“I thought I’d find you here,” Prisha’s warm voice made Violet’s tail wag faster as she spun around to see her girlfriend walking alongside Sophie. The harpy gave a friendly smile to her best friend before a happy tweet escaped her lips when she saw Marlon. The dullahan jogged forward and stopped before his girlfriend.

“Hey you two,” He gave a smile to Prisha then to Sophie. “This is a pleasant surprise. What are you two doing here?”

“Well, we thought we’d surprise you,” Sophie reached forward and took Marlon’s hand in her own. That caused the dullahan’s heartbeat to flutter.

“Clem spoke of a new juice shop that opened up a few blocks aways called Sarita’s Sips. I went with her a few days ago and I must say it is spectacular,” Prisha gave a happy smile at the memories of the fruity juice, her fangs poking out slightly. “We thought we all could go there as a nice date after your practice.”

Violet’s eyes grew large for a moment before softening, her tail swaying at a faster pace at her girlfriend’s smile. “Sounds fun.”

“Yeah, I’m down for that. Gotta switch out of my basketball practice stuff,” Marlon playfully knocked his red headgear. “Can't go walking around like this.”

“I don’t know,” Sophie looked at the head gear. “I think it's kinda cute.”

That made Marlon blush, his shade almost matching his headgear. “Thanks, Soph, but I think I’ll take it off,”

“Okay,” Sophie walked over at the bench “Prisha and I will wait here for you two when you get back,”

Prisha nodded, quickly leaning forward and kissing Violet’s cheek before walking over to sit beside her friend. The romantic gesture made the werewolf feel all warm and fuzzy as her tail wagged so fast it was hard to see.

“Let’s go, Vi,” Marlon grabbed his change of clothes and Violet nodded, following him out of the gym. After a few minutes they returned back to the room, placing away their sweaty clothes in their backpacks along with Marlon’s special gear. Coach Mike walked back through the room and thanked them for their hard work before moving to finish closing up the gym.

“Ready to head out?” Sophie asked with a bright smile.

“Yep,” Violet walked over towards Prisha and casually slipped her hand hers. The vampire’s smile grew as she glanced over at her girlfriend.

“I’ll lead the way,” Prisha offered. They strolled out of the gym as pairs of two. Prisha glanced over at her girlfriend. “So, how was practice?”

“Good. I kicked Marlon’s ass in the scrimmage.” The werewolf had a small smirk on her face.

“Hey! It wasn’t that many points your team won by. It was only four.” Marlon had a small frown on his face as he looked at Violet who gave a short shrug in response.

“Well, it looks like your gear worked. Your head didn’t slip off during practice, right?” Sophie tilted her head slightly, her bright blue eyes looking at Marlon.

“Nope, it didn’t budge out of place once.” Marlon declared proudly.

“That's awesome!” Sophie crowed and placed a quick peck on the dullahan’s cheek. Marlon scratched the back of his head and gave a small chuckle in response.

The four friends continued to chat as they walked out of the school. Violet paused for a second, tucking away her tail and tossing up her hood to cover her ears. Sophie put on her hoodie. It was a bit too warm of an option but since they were going to a human food joint it was safer to hide her feathers, especially after the most recent news of a surge in violence against monsters. With their monster features hidden the two couples continued to walk. Both couples were happy holding each other’s hands and enjoying each other’s company. Prisha began to talk about her day and about the Finer Things Club that the school librarian Mr. Santi had started up for monsters interested in discussing different books.

“It's absolutely exhilarating delving into the themes and morality within books. There's nothing more human than discussing topics like that. Which may be odd coming from a monster, but still,” Prisha gave a long, happy sigh, “I love it,”

“That’s awesome,” Violet smiled over at her girlfriend who returned it in kind.

“Man, I hope I find a cool club to join,” Sophie chirped hopefully. “Not sure I wanna join a sport so maybe, hmmm,” The harpy thought on the idea, the only sounds her talons tapping against the pavement and the other’s footsteps. “Oh! I think I saw a flyer about some sort of arts and crafts club. Maybe I can get Minnie and Renata to go with me to the first meeting.”

“That sounds fun,”

Sophie gave a happy twitter at her boyfriend’s supportive words.

“Oh, we’re here,” Prisha’s words made the other monsters stop. Their eyes wandered up towards the sign that read Sarita’s Sips in a warm yellow color that complemented the simple blue background of the sign. The building was a simple bright-colored one with big windows on either side of the front door. Prisha moved forward to open the door, the bell jingling overhead when they entered, drawing the attention of the owner who walked forward.

“Hello there. I’m Sarita, owner of this juice shop.” A woman with a nose ring, deep brown eyes and black hair walked forward. She wore a shirt with the juice shop logo and a simple pair of jeans. She gave a warm smile as she saw the four monsters before here. “Take a look at the menu for all the different options. I’ll be right behind the counter when you’re ready.”

“Thank you,” Prisha replied kindly before her attention turned towards the different boards that held all different kinds of juices, smoothies and drinks with as many fruits as the mind could possibly imagine.

The four talked amongst themselves, the others asking Prisha if she had any favorites. The vampire simply stated that she was positive any would be good since the one she had was so tasty. Sophie’s eyes wandered around, overwhelmed by all the delicious-sounding drinks when they paused on one name: The Berry Blast. A delicious smoothie filled with raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and love. That's what the description said anyway. Sophie got so caught up in the excitement of food that she let out a short series of twitters, chirps and tweets. It was only when they others looked over at her in shock that the harpy put two and two together and realized what she had done.

“I… um...” Sophie could feel her panic rising. There was no guarantee whether a human would be kind or mean to a monster but usually in these kinds of food establishments it leaned towards the latter.

“Oh,” Sarita walked forward, leaning her elbows on the counter, “Are you four monsters?”

The four looked to each other, Violet looked towards Prisha whose face was scrunched up in concentration as she tried to recall if Clem had mentioned if this place was a pro-monster.

“I didn’t mean to scare you,” Sarita gave a soft smile. “This is a monster-friendly place. It might have been better if I led with that.” Her tone was apologetic.

“You’re really fine with monsters?” Marlon’s hand held onto Sophie’s tighter, his eyes searching the human’s.

“Of course! In fact,” Sarita continued, looking to Violet, “If you want to take off your hood you can. I think you have very nice ears,”

Sarita’s words made Violet’s eyes grow large before she reached up. Her hand hesitated for a moment, her grip tightening. With a quick flick she tossed her hood down, letting her ears free. The blonde wolf ears twitched this way and that as her tail slowly slipped free from its hiding spot and swayed cautiously back and forth.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a blonde werewolf,” The human smiled then looked towards the others. “What monsters are all of you?”

The others normally wouldn’t share unless they knew the person but there was something about Sarita’s aura. It was soft and comforting, the sort that made you trust her right away.

“I’m a vampire,” Prisha stated simply.

“Dullahan,” Marlon added.

Sophie struggled to get her hoodie off, annoyed chirps and tweets spilling out as she worked to take off the item that was overheating her. A few of her red feathers shed and fell to the floor. “I’m a harpy. Oh shit,” Sophie leaned over and picked up her feathers. “Sorry about that.”

“No need to worry about that. So, what can I get you guys?”

“I want the berry blast!” Sophie crowed, practically shouting with how excited she was to try it.

“I’ll get the Tropical Paradise,” Prisha’s fangs poked out as she smiled.

“Strawberry Surf,” Violet muttered, her tail wagging a bit faster when Sarita had inputted her order.

“Mango Madness.” Marlon’s free hand rummaged around for his wallet and produced the right amount of money. “I’ll cover this one, guys.”

Prisha wanted to speak but decided that it would be better to just offer to pay for their next double date.

“Alright, I’ll have your drinks ready in just a few minutes,” Sarita turned around and disappeared into another room to get to work.

The two couples took a corner booth. Sophie and Violet slid down on opposite sides of the table all the way to the wall while Prisha and Marlon took their spots beside their girlfriends. The four began to talk once more. Prisha’s thumb brushed gentle circles around the top of Violet’s hand that made the werewolf’s tail go mad, whacking back and forth with joy. Marlon casually moved his arm and wrapped it around Sophie’s shoulder. He was in the middle of a tale about Louis misunderstanding some lore behind a monster and how it ended with him getting his pants glued to a chair when Sarita showed up with their drinks.

After figuring out whose drink was whose, Sarita tucked the waitress platter under her arm. “You four go to Ericson High, right?” Her question made the monsters stop from opening up their straws and look up at the human.

“That’s right,” Prisha replied.

“I thought that was the case. It’s the only monster school nearby and I swear I’ve seen you before,” She looked towards Prisha. “Did you drop by here some other time?” “Yes, I came here with my friend Clementine.”

Sarita gave a small laugh of victory. “I knew I had seen you before! Say, if you go to that school you wouldn’t happen to know Walter, would you? I think he teaches some sort of class on monster lore or…”

“Mr. Walter,” Sophie leaned forward and looked at the human. “Yeah, he’s super cool! A chill, nice teacher.”

Sarita seemed happy at those words. “He is a kind man, him and his husband. They actually helped me come up with the name for this place.” Sarita began to laugh lightly. “There’s a pretty funny story attached to it,” Sarita was about to start the story when the bell rang and a man carrying a box of produce walked through. “Oh, that's my delivery man. I should go help him. Enjoy your smoothies.”

The four monsters gave thanks and began to drink the smoothies. A happy twitter escaped Sophie’s lips as she continued to drink.

“That good, huh?” Marlon glanced over from his smoothie. “Maybe I should give it a try?” “Hmmm, I don’t know if I can share. It's so tasty,” Sophie’s smile grew at Marlon’s little pout. Violet watched for a moment before taking a sip from her glass. Her ears instantly perked up and her tail swayed back and forth, happy with the taste choice she had made. Prisha smiled and took a sip from her drink. The vampire gave a happy sigh. Even though there were no nutrients for her in this snack it was made of her favorite human food: fruit. Something about the sweet, tangy flavors filled her with happiness.

The four continued to enjoy their drinks, talking and laughing until they had finished up and it was time to head out. Sarita wished them a good rest of their day and after putting their hoods back on they headed out. They made their way back toward the school. Violet dropped Prisha off at the front door of the dorms.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Prisha smiled lovingly at her girlfriend.

“I can’t wait,” Violet rubbed the back of her neck, a shy smile on her face before she leaned forward, capturing Prisha’s lips in a soft, warm kiss. The vampire closed her eyes and leaned into the kiss for a moment before pulling away and entering the building. Violet watched her girlfriend walk away her tail wagging too fast and too strong to stay in its hiding spot.

“See you later, Vi,” Sophie gave a small wave to her best friend who made her way over to the bike rack. The werewolf returned the wave then was off towards her own home.

Sophie looked over at Marlon who had a warm, kind smile on his lips.

“Thanks for the surprise date,” Marlon leaned forward and gave her a kiss.

Sophie gave a happy chirp and returned her boyfriend’s kiss with another one. “I’m glad you had fun.” She looked into his eyes, getting lost for a moment before glancing down at Marlon’s watch. “Oh shit, is that the time? I promised I’d be home soon for the baking party,” Sophie gave the dullahan’s hand a quick squeeze then slipped her own free. She ran forward before spinning around on her heel and walking backwards to still see his face. “I’ll see you tomorrow!” “Can’t wait!” Marlon gave one final wave and watched his girlfriend for a minute before he headed out himself. Today had really been a good day.

There were many choices.

Kiss the turtle and hope for the best?

Or act like a damsel in distress, and wait for some prince to come and save her.

She looked out the window, sure enough, there were mummies and knights climbing up her tower.

That crazy pharaoh and the knight guy came back.

And Anasi as she spun a web around the building looked like it too.  

ok.

She was going to have to do it.

She was going to have to save herself this time.

And the opportunity was right there.

In the form of a turtle.

She didn’t want to do it.

“I can’t believe I'm doing this.” she muttered, scooping up the turtle and holding up like simba.

“Here goes nothing!”

She kissed the turtle.

Suddenly magic sparkles filled the air.

The turtle changed back to it’s normal form.

And they were back where they were.

Right in paris.

Right where they were before the akuma attacked them.

‘The dark ominous cloud of light was above them in the sky.

Bunnix was right, she was going to send everyone into the fairytale.

And there was nothing they could do about it.

“There going to be ok.” carapace whispered

“I hope so, that's my best friend there nino, and yours too.”

“I know.” his voice barely audible as he wrapped her in a tight embrace, “ I know…” - “What if i just grabbed your face and kissed you?” she said, voice barely above a whisper as she watched the two guards poke around the area where they had seen ‘robin hood’ and his so called accomplice, ‘lady mariam’.

“What?” he whispered “is this some type of joke?”

“What never kissed a girl before?”

“Yes..no...maybe, what's it to you mary poppins?”

“Dude i may be mary poppins, but at least i slay, you my monkey friend fall short of any measure of fabulousness!”

“Whatever, stop being extra, we both know the truth i am more fabulous than you could ever be.” he paused as the superheroine rolled his eyes at him, “but anyway, why would you kiss me?”

“Don’t get it twisted dude, i don’t want to as much as you do, but if we’re in the fairytale: robin hood, which i’ve heard recited over a million times by one of my friends, then what happened in the end is that  we fall in love get married  and kiss.”

“Really?”

“Is it that had to believe? It’s disney dude.”

“I meant really, as in you think it’ll work.”

“Kisses break curses, and whatever dis is,” she gestured around them, “ is a living curse.”

“Well ok then.”

“don’t get it twisted, I don’t wanna kiss you as much as the next person, but like, to get out of his mess, we might have to.”

“are you implying?- hmph!”

She grabbed his face and kissed him.

leaving them with a whole new set of problems.

1. he started kissing her back

2. she surprisingly wore a fruity lipgloss, and he wa saddicted

3. rena and carapace were staring at them

but as she deepned the kiss.

(if you could even call it that, more like a makeout session )

all the problems in the world seemed to melt away.

- The huge bell tower struck 12 and magic sparkles flew down the dragons pink dress leaving her a torn gown.

“Finally!” she sighed “ those two minutes in that monstrosity was a pure horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“I dunno, you looked pretty adorable”

If you ever call me that again I will slit your throat.”

“Alright, so what are we supposed to do? I think the clock and the magic pumpkins and mice squirming about, says this is cinderella.”

“Whats cinderella?”

“Child please tell me your’ve watched disney.”

“Whats ‘this knee’ about?”

“Did you just pun?”

“I’m serious, whats is ‘this knee’ about?”

“She needs help serious help.”

“Tell me what this ella of cinders was about, i’m very interested.”

“Once upon a time there lived a girl who was brave and beautiful, however she lived with her stepmother and her two ugly step sisters, who quarreled over everything. They made her life miserable and made her a servant of the house, however one day while out in the market, she met a prince however at that time she didn’t know it. He was smitten over her and even though he was to marry a princess, he felt the need to meet her again. In doing this he proclaimed a ball, invited every maiden in the land to the prestigious event, cinderella wishing she could go made a dress, however when the time came for her family to leave they ripped her dress and forbade her from going. After crying for a little bit suddenly her fairy godmother appeared and with a little bit of magic she went to the ball, she met the prince, danced with him and at the stroke of midnight the magic wore off, she ran away, a single slipper left on the staircase a clue to where she was, fast forward the prince found her after a shoe tryathon and they got married and lived happily ever after.”

“That's a very unrealistic story line.”

“It’s a fairytale for children, it’s allowed to be.”

“So what are you suggesting we do?”

“How about i put your shoe on?”

“What a strange request? But if that what it takes to get out of here i shall comply.”

She slipped off her shoe and sat on the staircase and he slipped it on.

Magic sparkles flew around them and they found themselves with rena, carapace standing above them. Roi singe and bunnix a few meters away

The sky had darkened, ladybug, chat noir, pegasus and queen bee were still no where to be found.

The looming doom of being sent back into fairytale raged over the city and they all (bar roi singe and bunnix who weren't paying attention to anything else and were still kissing eachother) said a silent prayer.

- “Makeup supplies, beauty products come and get your pick at madam zu zu’s shop!”

“Oooh, i didn’t know they had make up in fairytales, lets go peggy!”

“My name is not peggy and I would not advise you go in there without taking the proper precautions!”

But it was too late, queen bee had rushed in the house. That's when he heard a scream, which he assumed to be of delight before several minutes of silence.

It was quiet. Too quiet.

He bust opened the door to find ‘madam zu zu’ or in her or shall we say his true form as kung food stirred a stew with queen bee tied to a post ready to be dropped into the soup.

She was squirming and shouting retortes that were muffled by the tape that was over her mouth. The akuma threw bread crumbs at him, which was definitely a twist to the fairytale.  He opened up a teleportation portal and quickly untied her before they teleported there butts out of there.

“Thank you peggy” she whispered embrcing him “ i was stupid, i shouldn’t have done that.”

“What was that?”

“If your expecting me to repeat that you may as well put that piece of tape on my mouth again.”

Pegasus rolled his eyes, brushing off the bread crumbs that had stuck to his costume.

Suddenly light flashed around them and they both found themselves in a place that really didn’t look like paris.

Dark.

Cold.

And eerie.

The 4 superheroes crowded around them helping them up.

The bunny and the monkey miraculous holders still engrossed in what they were doing and not caring that the two most powerful miraculous holders still hadn’t shown up.

Chat cradled her in his arms. Style queen let out an evil cackle sending shivers down his and the other akumas spines.

“What did you do?”

“Nothing that you can’t fix.”

He looked down at her, cold and lifeless.

What was he supposed to do? How was he supposed to fix this?

To his surprise some of the akumas gathered around him.

Most specifically the love akumas.

Dark cupid, glaciator and one of their most recent akumas, the shipper which they had mocked over her choice of name.

“Are you familiar with sleeping beauty?” the shipper asked - “What is taking them so long?” rena said on the verge of tears, embedding herself into carapace chest.

“They’ll be fine, they got this, we got this.”

“I swear, if chats kissing her and that's why they  aren’t here I will punch him where it hurts and then i’ll hug him.”

“The likelihood of them kissing is at 99.9%” pegasus stated not battering an eye nor using a calculator.

“Good to know the odds are good, five euroes says i’m right.”

“ ten euroes says there secretly already dating.”

“Doubt it, chat would have proclaimed that to the entire world if that was the case.”

“She is his world, of course he would have told her.”

“ I meant social media you dork,”

“Oh.” he said looking down at the ground in shame.

---- “I’ve watched the movie a few times.” chat sniffed, it appeared he was crying, as he wiped his eyes “why, what would that have do do with- ooooooohhhhhhhhhhh……”

His bran clicked and he suddenly he realised what she was hinting at.

Those sly akumas.

“She’s done it before, i’m sure it wouldn’t hurt if you saved her life?” dark cupid smirked

“You two really do act like a couple!” glaciator agreed

“And you’ve kissed twice!” the shipper added

Chat looked down on her.

Pretty- no beautiful as ever, just deeply asleep.

“I can’t.”

“What?”

“Excuse moi?

“Why?”

“Of course I like her, but i’m not going to kiss her without her permission, it’s not like were dating so i just can’t.”

All the akumas gave him THAT look and he shrugged sheepishly and he tucked a stray peice of hair behind her hair, gazing at her lovingly.

“Only if she’d have me.” he whispered. “ and I can't ask her that right now….”

Whispers filled the silence of the room.

“He really does love her.” copy cat sighed

“The childs an angel and a gentleman.” bubbler gushed dramatically raising his hand to his forehead and falling into lady wifi’s arms who of course dropped him in 0.0002 seconds.

“Hold the heck up people!” lady wifi said quieting down the crowds of akumas “ we can’t encourage this stupid and blind cat, of course the girls in love with him, like the shipper said, she’s kissed him twice, if thats not enough evidence, what is?”

“A formal announcement on social media?” the guy with the green glasses (that chat couldn’t pinpoint when they had defeated him.)

“Do shut up gamer.” she flicked her head back at chat noir “sha. La. la.” she said very un- enthusiastically so much so that chat almost feared for his life “ kiss the damn girl.”

Oh, she was referencing the little mermaid.

“ i just can’t.”

Everyone in the room gave him T.H.A.T look.

“Child please, of course you can kiss the girl, and if your not going to do it willingly, I will accidentally-push-you-into-her-so-you-face plant-on-each-others-lips, and trust me child i’m VERY accurate at that.”

“Something tells me you’ve had practice.”

“Nothing you can prove , now kiss her.”

Sighing chat noir brushed away her bangs and placed a light kiss on her forehead.

He wasn’t going to kiss her. Not today. And not like this. He actually had planned out on the eiffel tower, a romantic scene when finally he would tell her that he L-

It was no time for these thoughts.

The akuma sighed handing over the moth-infested object at a confused ladybug who cleansed the akuma unfazed.

But yet they still remained in the alternate dimension.

On 7/24 I was at a Dairy Queen drive thru the person behind me hit the truck I was driving. I was looking at her in the rear view mirror the entire time. She had a cigarette hanging from her mouth that was unlit and she eventually backed up after hitting me. I got out of the truck and looked and I did not see any damage. She then said I didn't move you hit me I then told her No I did not hit you I am in front of you and this truck was never in reverse. Since there was no damage to the truck I did not bother getting any of her information since it was not my fault. On 7/27 I got a call from the police saying she told them I hit her. I gave them my side of the story and they said she had a witness who was a passenger in her car and they will be in touch. I also let them know I had a witness as well. The cop called me back yesterday and wanted to get my insurance information so her and I could exchange information. My question is do I have to give my insurance information to this cop? I did not hit this woman and I think she is trying to get one over on the insurance company. The cop said yesterday I'm surprised the truck does not have any damage because her car does have damage. This truck was a rental truck which was inspected at the time it was dropped back off at the rental company obviously there was no damage to it. This woman looked like she was on something to begin with and I'm guessing she was not paying attention probably looking for a lighter and let off the break and hit me. Everything had been set up by Alice and a few of her friends from the streets, the main room held yellow and purple balloons with white streamers hanging from the high ceilings. "This is ridiculous." Roni sighed out, her hand going to her stomach as she walked around the room and checked that nothing would be in the walking space so no one would end up tripping. Anxiety had been coursing through her since she had set the date, sent out the invitations and now - made her way to the main landing of the hallway in front of the open door.

Weaver bounded his way down the stairs, tucking his badge against his belt. When Roni turned to look at him, he had to fight the urge to throw his badge to the ground and say fuck it. "I've been called to work."

"You're going to leave me here by myself with Kelly?" She walked over to him and leaned against his chest, head tilted up towards him as he pressed a passionate kiss to her lips. "And her daughter. If they even show."

"They will." He reassured her, hands sliding up and down the length of her spine. "I won't be long. I promise." He wouldn't be, with these types of cases it was a quick stakeout, in to grab the perp and then out. Booking was something he could pin to someone else. "He jumped ship?" Alice asked, sliding up next to Roni in the doorway. The brunette nodded and then turned to head back inside, in search for a comfortable seat - her back was killing her. "Can you feel anything yet?"

"So far I'm just finding it hard to catch my breath every now and again." Roni leaned her head back against one of the chairs in the main room, her hands finding the arm rests as her muscles relax. "Luckily, I'm as healthy as they get for sixteen weeks."

"Your skin is glowing." Alice sits at Roni's feet, hands going forward to massage along the brunette's ankles. "It's really beautiful."

"Thank you, Alice. I appreciate it."

"Roni?" Jacinda's voice wafted through the hall before she appeared in the doorway, eyes wide as saucers. "Look at you! Oh gosh, you're so-there! You're getting along good then?"

"As good as I can." She let out a giggle before Jacinda bent to give her a side hug, one that wasn't too close and personal and yet just close enough. "Lucy and I, we brought you a gift."

"On the table." Alice pointed towards a large table near one of the big windows and Jacinda went over to place the gift there before Henry showed up, following suit with his gift and then sliding off towards the couch to talk with her and Lucy.

"Thank you both." Roni said to Jacinda and Henry as she got back onto her feet, Alice following on her heels as she went into the kitchen and began bringing the platters of food out into the main room, sitting them onto the coffee table. At that time, heels clicking against the hallway caused the brunette to look up, eyeing a red head walking in with her daughter right beside of her.

"I'm guessing sending us both an invite was your idea?" Kelly asked, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Her sister looked well, healthy and - pissed off. "I think I can repair my relationship with my daughter just fine without you meddling in our lives again."

"I-I know, Kelly, I just thought-"

"If you truly want to mend ties with me..." Kelly stepped forward, eyes burning through Roni as she walked so close to her their noses were almost touching. "...you wouldn't be serving dairy at your baby shower." When the redhead's lips curled into a smile, Roni let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding.

"Are you kidding?" Her brows furrowed before the redhead wrapped her up in a hug. "I have the non-dairy in the kitchen, I just hadn't sat it out yet." Relief flooded through her frame like a waterfall, closing her eyes she made a mental note to thank Weaver for pushing her to invite them and to thank Tilly for the idea of having a baby shower in the first place.

When Kelly pulled back out of the embrace, she sighed at the questioning look on Roni's features. "Robin and I mended our relationship around two months after you intervened. She came back to mummy and I, being the ever nurturing mum that I am, took her back in and we've been inseparable since."

"And you didn't think to let me in on this little fact?" She asked, walking with Kelly into the kitchen to retrieve the non-dairy snacks from the counters that had been prepped. "I mean, it would have let some weight off of my shoulders."

"I couldn't pass up the opportunity to let you sweat. I would have waited longer but-" She motioned towards Roni's swollen stomach and shrugged. "-I couldn't make you stress the baby out. So..."

"I'm glad you came." Roni admitted, then turned her attention to Robin who had already grown so much since the last time she had seen her. "Look at you, goodness, you're already a woman."

"I was a woman the last time you saw me, Roni." Robin joked before moving in to hug her aunt. "I've missed you."

"I've missed you too and your Mom." The brunette let her go, then turned towards the counter, picking up the tray and heading back into the main room where everyone was still gathered around, chatting it up. Robin ventured away from her mother and aunt, heading in the direction of Tilly who was perched near a window.

After more people from work showed up, everything went smoothly. Regina talked with everyone, answering questions about the babies and how her and Weaver were getting along living together and if they were thinking about marriage. She brushed off the latter rather well, trying to seem as though they weren't concerned with that just yet.

As the hours ticked away, she felt fear rising in her frame seeing as she hadn't set eyes on her detective since he had left for work.

The moment she stood to head towards the phone to give him a call, it rang. She made her way towards the receiver and slipped into the kitchen, ear to the speaker. "It's about time. When are you coming home? You're very much missed here."

"Roni, I need you to not panic." Rodgers' voice poured through the phone and she could feel invisible hands closing around her throat.

"You should know that if you start out with that-that I am going to panic." She stated calmly, reaching for the counter as she tried to steady herself as a myriad of horrible situations ran through her mind.

"He's going to be okay. The doctor assured me before I called you."

"The...doctor?" Her mouth went dry as she tried to remember the breathing measures she had read about in the many pamphlets on pregnancy and dealing with stress. "...the doctor? Rodgers, you need to tell me what happened..."

"It wa-it-we-" The stuttering was only proving to cause her more stress and so, she put her back against the wall and closed her eyes, repeating in her head that he said the doctor believed he would be okay. "He was shot. I'm not going to give you full details, but he was - and he'll be okay. The doctors say that the bullet missed all major arteries and.."

His voice faded into the background as she pushed herself towards the sitting room, her eyes wide as she reached Zelena. "I need you to drive me to the hospital."

"Are you okay?" The redhead looked startled as she reached for Roni's belly.

"It's Weaver."

Roni's heart was in her throat as she climbed out of Kelly's car and began walking towards the door of the local hospital. Sounds around her seemed muffled and she couldn't see anything but blurs as she moved up towards the nurses station, leaning over against the counter, eyes wide. "Weaver."

Kelly slid up next to her, eying Robin who gave her nod and headed out to find some source of caffeine. "My sister is here to see-"

"Roni." Rodgers called out, causing the two sisters to turn towards him. "He's out of surgery, hasn't woken up yet." When she shot him a worried look, he pointed towards the room they were keeping him in. He stayed behind, with Kelly, giving her details that he had already given the barkeep over the phone.

She entered the room slowly at first, her eyes not wanting to see but needing to at the same time as she moved closer to the bed where he was laying. A sob choked it's way up her throat as she locked her eyes on his slumbering figure, hooked up to the monitor, the beeping was the only thing keeping her from screaming and crying all at once - it being a reminder that he was okay and that he would be here to see their babies coming into this world.

Taking a seat next to him on the bed, she reached out and took his hand in hers. "I am going to throttle you the second you wake up. You know I need you." Her voice broke nearing the end of the sentence and she wished she were tougher, stronger, and not the person who put everything she believed in jeopardy by bedding the local detective. She couldn't raise two kids on her own, hell she had no idea she could even get pregnant before he ended up in her bed. "You dumb handsome asshole."

"Regina?"

Lifting her head, she locked eyes on a groggy Weaver and for a split second he didn't seem like the same person, but she quickly shook that notion from her mind and pushed away the nagging feeling that the name seemed familiar. "Roni."

"...right...Roni..."

She watched as his eyes dropped to her stomach and then to her hands, a soft groan leaving his lips as he then shut his eyes at what looked to be an onslaught of pain. Maybe she wouldn't throttle him, she thought as she brought the back of his warm hand up to her trembling lips.

Okay, but it seemed like the person she was talking to on the phone was already in the house!!!! Didn’t it?

What was the point, exactly, of the sneeze-inducing-chemical? Will we find out in a later episode?

And who runs around dressed like a cowboy unironically? Was it a costume or does this character always dress like that? #PhatiSariAsksTheRealQuestions

2. PP and Chandi in the guesthouse

The outside is now an entirely different location and not the hotel/restaurant of earlier episodes.

PP is absolutely disgusting -- he apparently runs around with handcuffs in his pocket-wa #JustInCase. But note that he doesn’t carry a condom #JustInCase because tellywood is ridiculous. He also likes Advay’s bed ...

Notice the bird cages in the background? Indrani once hung up a bird cage and trapped moonlight (Chandni) in it. The scene was linked to another in which she admitted that the household’s fate will rest on Chandni’s shoulders. There’s been a lot of foreshadowing that Chandni will be caught in a compromising situation with Advay, which will lead to her marriage and the downfall of her household. I found the placement of the bird cages interesting because it really cements the idea that Chandni will be compromised through sex.

I loved that Chandni broke into Advay’s drawer using a trick that Dev taught her. I really enjoy all the parallels, it gives the show a grounding in reality that it sorely lacks in many of its other tracks and ideas. I also love the actors who play tiny!Advay and tiny!Chandni (tiny!Chandni is absolutely wonderful). The instrumental that played in this scene is my favourite of all the instrumental versions of ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’, remixed to perfection.

Chandni: “Tum nahin hote na Dev, toh pata nahin mera kya hota.”     [If you weren’t around, Dev, then I don’t know what would’ve happened to me.]

I just love that this line was followed by a shot of Dev Advay arriving at the guesthouse!

Of course Chandni doesn’t see the actual piece of evidence she needs -- it’s only Episode 24!! I love that Advay keeps the photo locked in a drawer though :) I was surprised that her sari got stuck but she apparently didn’t leave a small scrap behind as a clue. I was totally expecting that. Advay doesn’t seem to suspect anything, which was also surprising.

That phone call between Shilpa and Advay was totally useless. She literally told him nothing and he asked her to keep doing her job, but I guess it did distract him from the almost-closed drawer.

The resurgence of katto gilehri made me want to scream. 

3. In which I am angry

So Veer intends to seduce Shikha in two weeks while he stays in her house. *sigh* Veer, I used to like you.

In the middle of teasing Chandni for yet again turning a conversation about PP into a conversation about her beloved ASR, Shika notices Veer’s presence. Her behaviour is absolutely deplorable. She’s impassioned, and loud, which would have been fine if she was actually in the right. But she’s not.

1) It is not actually Veer’s fault that her friend, despite being engaged, was interested in a lunch date with another man. The fact that cameras were present and the footage distributed doesn’t make that okay and that her in-laws are absolutely correct in reevaluating the relationship having seen it. (We can debate slut shaming later, sure, but all the blame does not lie at Veer’s feet for creating the situation).

2) At no point is the willful destruction of property okay. The cinematography, editing, and music in this scene imply that we should feel proud of her. If the situation was reversed and Veer broke Shika’s laptop then I’m pretty sure no one would think he was justified. It’s not cute just because Shikha’s a girl. 

She breaks a camera and a light before grabbing one of the tripod’s legs and taking a swing. But Veer ducks, being a human being with more than two braincells to rub together, and she gets PP instead.

Pandemonium ensues.

4. RajVeer

Despite the tripod leg being a relatively blunt object, PP’s neck now sports three lines that look conveniently like claw/nail marks. The PP clan is decidedly unhappy, PP in particular because it was his imported video equipment.

PP: “You crazy girl!” PP-Mummy: “Indrani-ji, aap ki teeno betiyan pagal hai kya?”    [Indrani-ji, are all three of your daughters crazy?]

Yes, yes they are.

PP-Mummy says that Veer is her childhood friend’s son, Rajveer, whom she hasn’t seen since he was a child. Remember this guy from Episode 19, the one who PP-Mummy wanted to visit so he could meet Chandni’s sisters:

Surely he’s Rajveer Singh. Wasn’t the implication that Veer would take that dude’s place to enter the haveli? Or is the idea that we forget that guy, and now assume that Veer’s full name is Rajveer?

Questions, questions. Though it’s pretty obvious that he and Shika will end up together.

5. If that wasn’t ‘angry’, I don’t want to see Indrani angry

Wo0o0o0o0o0.

Indrani was amazing in this scene!! I loved that she took Shikha down a notch.

Indrani: “Humne gussa karna chod diya hai, bhoole nahin hai.”     [Though I’ve stopped getting angry, I haven’t forgotten it.]

I must admit I was surprised at this display of not!anger because she’s so tolerant of Chandni. It strengthens my suspicion that Chandni is somehow different to her younger sisters (my theory is that she is Yash’s daughter from an earlier marriage). And the sisters know that Chandni is treated differently to them but don’t seem to know why.

6. These small town girls, they’re crazy!

The miscommunication of the century occurs when Advay returns to the haveli, having changed into an outfit that coordinates with what everyone else will wear for the function.

The thing is, the dialogue doesn’t even seem natural in this scene. It’s not that PP tells a story and just forgets to mention certain key events that could clue Advay in -- it’s like he’s doing it deliberately. There’s no finesse in the dialogue here and the bluntness disappoints me. 

Advay naturally jumped to sex as the explanation -- in their last interaction, PP made it clear that he was going to try to sleep with Chandni and all his words implied that’s exactly what happened. And PP mentioned the amazing bed. 

Advay: “Chandni kuch bhi kare, mujhe faraq kyun pad raha hai? Focus Advay, tu usse barbaad karne aaya hai. Aur kuch nahin.”    [Whatever Chandni does, why does it matter to me? Focus Advay, you’ve come to destroy her. Nothing else.]

I also think it’s a manifestation of a fear that lay in his heart -- he doesn’t trust Chandni and he sees her as a liar and a cheat, but he’s also visibly hurt that his ‘suspicions’ have been confirmed. For me, this is the conflict between Dev and Advay in a nutshell. Sometimes it feels like the Advay aspect of the character has to keep reminding the Dev aspect what they’ve returned for. Sobti plays this kind of duality extremely well (for example, the Rajkumar and Rakshas in IPKKND).

7. The Vashisth round-table

This scene was overly dramatic and unnecessary, in my humble opinion. 

Though the reference to the painting scene in Titanic made me laugh, it also made me consider why it’s okay to make fun of men when they’re sexually curious. I mean, Advay is obviously going to slut shame Chandni because he believes she slept with PP, and I just feel like it also shouldn’t be okay to shame men for being interested in or enjoying sex. The stereotype that men are always horny and always up for it and always have greater libidos than women is damaging to all of us.

Chandni literally referred to Advay by all the cutesy names she’s given him, and she referred to his voice as ‘husky’. In addition, her voice did this thing where she seemed to be fondly recounting how he’s pestered her rather than actually voicing a grievance against a man who SET ANOTHER MAN ON FIRE IN FRONT OF HER (has everyone in this show forgotten??) She then got stuck on how he keeps commenting on her height, pointing out that a remote control can command a TV so why can’t she command ASR?

I’m tiny, okay? I’m five foot nothing in four-inch heels. I would absolutely love a lead who didn’t let people make fun of her height. But I found this entire monologue rather absurd.

Shikha: “Apne aap ke samajhta kya hai? Woh kisi aunty ka bachcha ban ke ghar mein ghusega, aur hum chup chaap baithe rahenge?”    [What does he think of himself? What does he think, that he can just barge into this house by being some aunty’s kid?]

Ha, this seems to imply that Veer is pretending to be Rajveer, doesn’t it?

Precap: "Everyone’s a cheat!” “I’m not a cheat!” Oh he knows about the guesthouse, interesting. Does he also think she made love with PP on his bed, because ew. Ha, Chandni’s dialogue is written to deliberately imply that she knows he’s Dev.

Theories:

1) Slut-shaming ahoy. That’s just the kind of dude Advay is -- he has all these notions of purity and female chastity and they’re tangled with the way he believes Chandni betrayed him. He won’t be able to help himself.

2) Shika’s apology will not go well.

3) Veer is taking the place of Rajveer, the guy we briefly met in Episode 19. The truth will come out after Shikha falls for him a little bit, thus creating a new hurdle for them to overcome.

Will I continue watching?

Top 10 Anime in 2018

1. Violet Evergarden

Genres: Fantasy, Drama, Slice of Life

Episodes: 13

For sure the most beautiful animation I've seen in 2018. The story follows Violet, an "auto memory doll" that writes letters for others, as she learns how to understand and express emotions throughout her journey as a doll. Violet and her interaction with clients and other characters teaches Violet more about herself and changes the lives of those she meets. The art is amazing, with the attention to detail and colourful art style makes the animation truly captivating. For sure the most pleasant eye candy 2018.

2. Gakuen Babysitters

Genres: Comedy, School, Shoujo, Slice of Life

Episodes: 12

Anyone who loves adorable kids will die watching this. The Protagonist Ryuuichi Kashima has to take care of his little brother Kotarou by himself ends up becoming part of the school's babysitter club. These two and their daily lives are both very entertaining and heartwarming to watch. To anyone that enjoys similar anime where the main character also has to take care of or spends time with kid characters, I would recommend "Amaama to Inazuma", "Barakamon" or " Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari".

3. Miira no Kaikata

Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life, Supernatural

Episodes: 12

To enter the more supernatural realm we get introduced to a tiny mummy now lives with and is taken care of by the high school boy, Sora Kashiwagi. Similar to Gakuen babysitters as a slice of life with some comedy, but the main character takes care of a mummy instead of a child. We get to learn more about this little mummy along with coming across other supernatural beings.

4. Wotaku ni Koi was Muzukashi

Genres: Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life

Episodes: 11

I very refreshing show that instead of being another rather cliche shoujo this love story takes place in the working space where the childhood friends Narumi Momose and Hirotaka Nifuji work at the same office. Narumi struggles as she tries to keep the fact that she is an otaku secret but she and Hirotaka, also an otaku, start dating. A romance begins and we also get to see their coworkers.

5. Hinamatsuri

Genres: Comedy, Sci-Fi, Seinen, Slice of Life, Supernatural

Episodes: 12

One of my favourite comedies this year. The Yakuza member, Yoshifumi Nitta has to become the caregiver for the girl with supernatural powers, Hina that one day appears in a capsule out of nowhere into his living room. The duo's daily life becomes very funny as Hina has to control her powers and learns how to live together with Nitta.

6. Piano no Mori

Genres: Adventure, Music, Comedy, Drama, School, Seinen

Episodes: 12

The two boys Kai who's only played the broken piano in the forest and Shuuhei who's been raised to be a pianist. Majority of the anime follows their childhood from where they meet and later on they meet again in the world of competition in piano. The story mostly revolves around Kai and follows his relationship with the piano from the broken piano to becoming a pianist learning from former world-class pianist Ajino. I really recommend this for those who like anime following main characters that pursue music. Similar animes I would recommend would be "Nodame Cantabile" and "Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso".

7. Hatarakou Saibou

Genres: Comedy, Shounen

Episodes: 13

Is quite an odd one in the bunch as it instead is about the working cells in the human body, being more on the educational side than usual. We follow a red blood cell that carries oxygen and carbon dioxide through the blood vessels in the body where she most of the times ends up getting caught up in situations where the body is attacked by bacteria and is saved by a white blood cell. With a very accurate explanation of the body's functions and bacteria and the depiction and characterization of the different cells in the body, the show becomes both fun and interesting.

8. Grand blue

Genres: Comedy, Seinen, Slice of Life

Episodes: 12

Iori Kitahara moves into his uncle scuba diving shop in a seaside town excited to live his dream college life. He ends up joining his naked upperclassmen in drinking parties and becomes part of the diving club despite being afraid of water. This college life is not really what he expected but either way, the show is very funny.

9. Devilman crybaby

Genres: Action, Dementia, Demons, Horror, Supernatural

Episodes: 10

I went into this with low expectations since Netflix that does not really have a good reputation for adapting anime or manga (specifically referring to live-action Death note). This show kept me on the edge of my seat. The weak cry baby Akira Fudou meets with his childhood friend Ryou Asuka, he asks Akira to help him uncover the existence of demons. Ryou brings Akira to a party where demons have possessed the people now turning their bodies into monsters. In the middle of all this Akira end up becoming a Devilman after having to merge with the devil Amon. From this Akira gains a lot of power and continues to work with Ryou to fight again the devils.  

10. Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken

Genres: Fantasy, Shounen

Episodes: 25 (still airing)

If you think you'll go into this series expecting the generic isekai where the main characters enter an RPG like fantasy world only to adventure and surrounded by girls fawning over him (at least that the impression I got) then that's not what you'll get. Rather than that, you'll instead get a former human, now an overpowered slime that gets by in this world with a following and actually building a new society as he encounters new obstacles. The slime that also goes by Rimaru easily solves situations by using logic and reasoning.
