Knightstone Household: Chapter 9, Part 1
3am, Chestnut Ridge, Winter
Pollock babbles and crawls around the bedroom he shares with his older brother who is inconveniently asleep.
Suzanna: Excuse me, where do you think you’re going
Pollock: wa up Sil as
Suzanna: Oh no, we’re not going to wake your brother, come here trouble. We’ll give you a quick feed then back to bed you go
Scooping up her youngest Suzanna takes the time to appreciate him being so small. It’s technically his birthday but no one ages up at this time of night so she will have a few more hours of him like this. When he’s a toddler she’ll get back to work but might take a day off now and then to spend with him when Adam has work. After she burps him she lays him o his back in the crib.
Suzanna: Sleep now Moondust, sleep. And may starships carry you through your dreams
With her soothing Pollock settles and falls asleep.
Turning around Suzanna can see her husband Adam has also popped in to tuck in Silas. He didn’t like the idea of having kids but he does love his sons. When he motions for the pair to head out the door she scoops him in to a hug.
Adam: Well hello to you to. What was that for
Suzanna: I just missed you between rotations, that’s all
Adam knows his paranoid wife has some weird ideas like mods and rotations. He’s found over the years it’s best not to question her or he’ll just blow his hot headed top.
Heading up to their bedroom Suzanna passes her collection of living aliens and frogs. She wants to add to the frogs but there’s not many spawn spots around. She also smiles at the cloning machine. She loves her crystal collection but is excited to see if she can gain the gemology skill and start cutting some to make a prettier display than the one that lies in the library.
When the day finally dawned Adam was reluctant to get up. His first task was to make a cake and he was sure something would go wrong and make him mad.
Adam: Starlight, how about we just lie here?
Suzanna: On Pollock’s birthday?
Adam: I can’t hear him, he must be fine
Then from the room below them came the panicked cries of a child alien.
Silas: OH MY WATCHER
Suzanna: Guess our other son needs us. Get up lazy bones
Silas: MUMMY! MUMMY!
Suzanna races in to find Silas panicking and Pollock watching him from his crib curiously. Scooping up the infant she turns to Silas.
Suzanna: What’s wrong Starshine?
Silas: Mummy! There’s a monster under my bed
Suzanna: *snuggles Pollock* a monster?
Silas: With awful long tentacles
Suzanna: Silas, Starshine, we’re aliens. Maybe the monster under the bed is as afraid of you as you are of them
Silas: *calming down* Do... do you think?
Suzanna: You might be the first alien it’s seen. Why not try introducing yourself
Silas: Okay Mummy. I guess... I could try
He sits down and begins to try communicating while Suzanna lifts Pollock up for a kiss.
Suzanna: Who’s birthday is it? Is it yours?
Pollock giggles and kicks his legs happily.
In the kitchen Adam is cooking. He was going to do the cake first but a glance at the stocks told him they were low on cereal. Cooked breakfast it is. He enjoys cooking, but between trying to manage the kids and establish himself as an art critic his skills are still only so so.
When he’s almost finished a sulky Silas comes in.
Adam: Pancakes are almost-
Silas: Daddy there’s a monster under my bed!
Adam: Have you tried punching it in the face
Silas: No...
Suzanna: He doesn’t need to do that, he can befriend it. For all we know it’s from Sixam like us
Adam: *sighs* Let’s eat
The family sit around the table and Suzanna grabs some banana slices for Pollock.
Adam: Surely if the monster scares him he should fight back
Suzanna: Adam not every problem should be solved with violence
Adam: Yet you built a simray
Silas: *sadly* I want a simray
Suzanna: You’re too young for a simray
Adam: Maybe we should wait until you’re a teen
Suzanna: Open wide Pollock, here comes the spaceship
Pollock giggles madly and waves his arms as the banana piece comes closer. After swallowing he smiles and blows a raspberry.
Adam: Okay, I’ll admit it, I might miss this having an infant thing
Silas: Can I get a second brother? Please Daddy please
Adam: *laughs* Oh no way in hell kid. One brother is your lot
Silas: But Mummy-
Suzanna: Daddy has decided, we are good as a four
Adam: Why would you need another one when you have me and Pollock
Adam pulls a funny face which makes Silas giggle while Pollock smooshes his food into his mouth. He does love banana.
Suzanna: Are you alright to make the cake
Adam: Yeah, and I’m sure Silas can help me
Silas: If the monster doesn’t eat me first

Don’t Kiss My Daddy
an oc x oc collaboration between @seanfalco & @super-unpredictable98 for @ockissweek
Word Count: 3.9k Tags/Warnings: Lots of cuteness, a continuation of Fancy Restaurant Featuring: Sean & Blossom Falco and their daughter, Simone, as well as the Quad’s twins, Charlie & Ellery.
[ masterlist ]
"Hey, Moony! Y’know who's comin’ tomorrow t’spend the weekend with us?" Blossom asked excitedly as she walked into the flat and dropped her bag, joining her daughter and husband on the couch.
"Charlie and Ellie!" Simone cheered.
"That's right! We can set up a fort in the living room so the three of you can sleep here, we'll eat junk food and stay up late watching movies, it's gonna be so much fun!"
"Sounds like a blast!" Sean exclaimed. "You're one lucky kid," he chuckled, tousling Simone's hair.
"I miss them, they live too far away most of the time," Simone murmured.
"They miss you too, baby, and they miss their uncle Sean!" Blossom ran her fingers through his hair. "I think they mentioned something about Time Out Market, they also wanna go to drag queen story hour at the Lincoln Center. I haven't been there since I was a girl taking those classes at SAB."
"What's a Time Out Market?" Sean asked quietly.
"And you've lived in New York for decades... “ Blossom murmured, shaking her head in amusement. “It’s that market next to the Brooklyn Bridge, those cute restaurants with a view of the East River? We went there for our tenth anniversary or something," she answered, trying to remember. "Then we went to Jane's Carousel."
"Oh, I thought it was a game the kids made up or somethin'," Sean chuckled ruefully. "I may live here, but I'll never be a New Yorker."
"I know, you're Irish to the bone, I love that about you," Blossom said, looking down at her wedding ring, a Claddagh ring. "I don't really feel like a New Yorker either, I'm so British I'm still angry about the tea in Boston."
Sean snorted. "Coulda fooled me," he teased, leaning in to peck Blossom on the lips.
Simone watched the scene unfold with a pout. "I'm going to my room," she announced with a little huff, suddenly jumping from the couch and marching to her bed. Blossom exchanged a confused look with her husband.
"What's gotten into her?"
"That's strange," Sean murmured, frowning. "I'll go talk t'her."
When he got to her bedroom, he found the door slightly ajar and he knocked before pushing it open further, peeking his head inside. "Hey Moony, mind if I come in?”
"No... I suppose" Simone finally agreed, turning her head and folding her little arms in front of her chest, very much like her mum when she was upset.
Joining her on the bed, Sean craned his head to catch her eye. "What's wrong, darlin'? What's with th'long face?"
"Nothing... my face is normal," Simone insisted. "I just... nothing."
"You can talk t'me, dearest," he assured her, pulling her into his lap.
"I don't want you and Mommy to kiss," she whispered.
Sean had to fight back a snort of laughter, glad that she couldn't see his face. "How come, love?" he asked instead, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"You’re my Daddy and Mommy is my Mommy, I don't like it when you kiss, you should only kiss me!" Simone whined, hiding against his chest.
"Oh darlin'!" Sean exclaimed, rubbing her back as she hugged him. "Are y'sayin' it makes you feel jealous when Mummy and Daddy kiss?" he asked, glancing over to see Blossom standing outside the door.
"Yeah! It makes me angry," she mumbled.
"Hey, sweetie," Blossom cooed, joining them. "We're really sorry you're upset, but y’know Mummy and Daddy are married right? Usually married couples like t’kiss and hug and cuddle... one day when you're married you'll wanna do all of that."
"I'm not! I'm marrying Daddy!" Simone exclaimed, squeezing him tighter possessively.
"But honey, Daddy's already married to me."
"Uncle Nate and Uncle Nats are married to both my aunties,” the little girl pointed out, knowing all about polyamory from a young age.
If not for how seriously his daughter was taking it, Sean would have laughed. “Honey, daughters can’t marry their daddies, it’s not allowed, but you will always be my special girl,” he reassured her gently.
"Oh..." Simone was hearing that information for the first time and she certainly had some bad news to deliver to her friends, who had the same dream, at school the next day. "But I still don't like it!"
"You wanna hear a secret?" Blossom asked, taking her little hands in hers. "I was very jealous of my daddy and my brother growing up. I didn't like when Grandpa and Grandma kissed, I didn't like it when Uncle Simon had his first girlfriend... but I wanted them t’be happy."
“Even your uncles were jealous of me,” Sean added, very carefully avoiding Blossom’s eyes.
"Oh yeah! When I started dating Daddy, your uncles were flipping out," Blossom laughed, “but they knew Daddy made me happy."
"I do want you to be happy..." Simone sighed reluctantly.
“You’re a good girl, Moony,” Sean said, giving her a squeeze. “When you get older, you’ll find th’one for you.”
"That’s true and we have plenty of kisses for you as well, don't we?" Blossom tickled her sides before kissing the top of her head. "Love is meant t’be shared."
“I’ll always love yeh, darlin’,” Sean murmured, kissing the top of her head.
The next day, Blossom decided not to send Simone to school, leting her sleep in a bit, and started making breakfast for everyone, including her niece and nephew arriving soon. "Good morning, sweetheart," she smiled when Sean left the room.
“Good morning, darlin’,” he replied, pulling her in for a kiss. “Somethin’ smells good.”
"Thank you, I made loads of bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs with cheese, and toast for the small army," Blossom grinned. "So... how are we gonna deal with the whole Moony thing? D’you think she's still bothered?"
Sean sighed, glancing at the door to her bedroom. “I dunno, she seemed a little put out about it still when we put her t’bed. Hopefully her cousins’ bein’ here’ll help her get past it.”
"I don't really remember what my parents did with me, it just stopped bothering me as time passed," Blossom mused as she served his plate. "I want her to grow up surrounded by love and I don't wanna have t’hide to kiss you."
“I guess th’best thing t’do is just… make it more normal,” Sean replied, grinning as he picked up a piece of bacon.
"Smells so good." Simone murmured, opening her bedroom door to stumble out, still half asleep, still wearing her pajamas. "Are they here yet?"
"No, baby, but they will be soon," Lydia nodded at Sean. "Let me get you some breakfast."
“C’mere, why don’tcha sit next t’me, huh?” Sean said, lifting his daughter into the seat next to him. “Someone looks sleepy still,” he teased gently as she rubbed at her eyes.
"I had bad dreams," she yawned before taking a bite of her toast. "Why didn't you come sleep with Mummy and Daddy? We always keep the nightmares away," Blossom said, sitting to eat as well.
"Because Elly told me after Mummy and Daddy put their kids to bed they just kiss all night and do special cuddles. I didn't wanna see it or get in the way," she said, which nearly made her mum lose it and laugh.
Sean had to bite his lip to keep from laughing as well, sharing a look with Blossom. “I suppose that’s true sometimes,” he said, clearing his throat, “but you’d never be in th’way, darlin’. We’re always here for yeh if y’need us,” he assured her.
"That's true, usually when mummies and daddies do that, they lock the door. You can always knock and we'll help you no matter what, nothing is more important than you," Blossom assured her.
"Okay, next time I'll knock, but I'll sleep in the middle, just in case," Simone said.
“Good,” Sean said, flashing her a grin and digging into his food. It wasn’t long after when the doorbell buzzed. “That’ll be your cousins no doubt,” he exclaimed.
"Let's see... who do we have here?" Blossom opened the door and was attacked by the two children who jumped into her arms. "Oh my God!" she cried through her laughter.
"Thank you so much for taking them, we just really need some romantic time," Lydia grinned, barely able to contain her excitement.
"Yeah, I'm sure y'do. Heard all about the special cuddles you're gunna do," Sean teased.
"Nate was the one who told Elly adults do special cuddles... she kept asking to join when he invited me for cuddles, tryin’ to steal me away," Lydia laughed while the kids were distracted by their aunt and cousin.
"Come here, we've got food," Simone pulled the twins by the hand.
"If they need us, we'll be only a block away," Nate said, handing Sean Ellery's inhaler. "But try t'make sure they don't need us.
"No problem," Sean exclaimed, watching the children join Simone at the table. "You guys have fun."
"Thank you so much, see you guys on Monday!" Lydia waved and blew a kiss at the children, "We love you, make sure to be good."
"We will," Elly said, paying very little attention to her mum.
"Charlie, what if we did for Uncle Sean and Auntie Blossom a romantic night like we did for our mummies and daddies? Wouldn't it be fun?"
"Bye Mummy and Dada!" Charles called before returning his attention to his sister. "Yeah! Maybe Simmi will help us!" he suggested.
"Why do you wanna do that?" Simone asked.
"Because we like t'watch ‘em bein' romantic, it's so cracker!" Ellery exclaimed.
"Between Louise and the boys, she sounds well Irish," Blossom whispered to her husband. "It's adorable."
"Whereas Moony sounds like an American," Sean teased.
"Do you think there's still time to fix that?" Blossom shook her head with a dramatic sigh. "Maybe if we make her watch loads of Paddington," she mused.
"Maybe we need t'spend some time in England," Sean suggested with a grin.
"Yeah, it feels nice t'see how much they love each other," Charlie added.
"I don't like it when my mummy and daddy show they love each other!" Simone huffed.
"Why not?" Elly asked.
"Because... they’re only supposed to love me."
"But they have to love each other," Charlie frowned. "If they didn't love each other, then they wouldn't stay together," he reasoned.
"We're waiting on that audition result, aren't we?" Blossom said. "I passed on to the callbacks, so maybe there's a chance.”
"I can't believe they wouldn't choose you. They'd be daft not to," Sean said, pulling Blossom into his arms.
"I really hope so, it was so much fun to be in Beetlejuice back in the day," Blossom sighed. "I might not be a Lydia Deetz anymore, but I'll gladly be the kookiest Delia ever."
"Oh, I know y'will. You're a right natural kook," Sean teased, quickly avoiding her answering poke.
"D'you want your parents to dissolve?" Ellery gasped.
"It's divorce, sweetie, and nobody is getting divorced," Blossom assured them, finally catching a bit of what the three were talking about amongst themselves.
"No, I want them to stay together forever!" Simone cried.
"Then y'gotta make sure they have some romance!" Charlie exclaimed.
"O-okay, I guess we could," Simone agreed. "How do we do this?"
"First we make the room all romantic, then we make them dinner," Ellery explained.
"Yeah, we're pretty good at it," Charlie boasted. “We did it for our parents too.”
"What if we make mac and cheese with nuggets? I know how," Simone said excitedly.
“Wow! That’s more intense than what we made! Mama doesn’t let us use the stove,” Charlie replied.
"F-U-C-K you! I remember when you used to be romantic!" Blossom laughed, chasing after her husband as he hurried away from her. "A kook? You're the kook!"
“Watch out kids, your Aunt Blossom’s gone kooky!” he exclaimed playfully.
"I usually make it on the microwave and I ask a grown up to take the nuggets from the oven, but I think we can do it," Simone said, laughing when she saw her parents chasing each other around.
"Sean Falco! You are the absolute worst!" Blossom shouted, finally able to cling to his back like a koala. "Maybe you don't wanna have special cuddles with a kook like me... after the kids go to bed, I'll go straight to sleep," she whispered in his ear.
Charlie turned to gape at the adults as they ran past. “Elly, it’s even worse than we thought!” he hissed. “Aunt Blossom doesn’t wanna have special cuddles with Uncle Sean!”
Sean laughed, turning to look at her over his shoulder. “Oh, but didn’t y’know? You’re married to th’biggest kook of all!” he exclaimed.
"Do you think they don't wanna have special cuddles because of what I said? I said I don't like it when they kiss," Simone frowned.
"I don't know... I think you'll have to convince me later tonight. I know how persuasive you are," Blossom purred, slipping off his back to embrace him.
“Oh l can be very persuasive,” Sean whispered back.
"We'll fix it, don't worry, it'll be grand," Ellery said decidedly, finishing her breakfast and jumped from her chair. "You two, tonight we're gonna make you a romantic night and you're gonna smoochy kiss!"
“Oh?” Sean asked, turning to look at his niece. “That sounds nice, darlin’. Did y’do that for your parents as well?” he asked.
"We did and they even slow danced!" Ellery announced proudly.
"And Moony's okay with the smooches?" Blossom asked, running her fingers through her husband's curls, slowly but surely going gray, which was quite sexy.
"Yes, mummy, I want you two to be together," Simone nodded.
Sean couldn't help but grin, turning to share a look with Blossom. "Well that sounds perfect. Our evenin' is in your capable little hands," he said, crouching down and opening his arms for the kids to hug him.
"Leave it to us," Elly exclaimed, wrapping her arms around him. "You'll have so much fun."
"We have complete trust in yeh."
"Good!" Charlie giggled, joining in on the hug.
After playing all day while Blossom worked and Sean edited from home, the kids pushed the couple into their bedroom. "Pick a nice outfit, it's a posh date," Ellery instructed as Charlie and Simone were already working on getting the nuggets in the oven.
"Yes, ma'am," Sean replied, chuckling as he went to the closet.
"Things are going swimmingly, if I do say so m'self," Charlie exclaimed, dusting his hands off as he set the timer on the stove.
"Y'sound like Daddy," Ellery laughed as she set the table.
"This is actually fun," Simone grinned, mixing the pasta that was pre-made and frozen with the cheese and milk before putting it on the microwave.
Charlie giggled even harder, glad to be compared to their fathers. “I’m glad you’re having fun, Simmi!” he exclaimed.
"I hope it makes them happy too," Simone said, taking the bowl from the microwave to stir before putting it back for another couple of minutes. "What should we do for dessert? And what are they gonna drink?"
"Hmm... we could make th'same dessert we made for our parents, unless y'wanna do something different," Charlie suggested.
"I think it's good, can y'make it, Charlie?" Elly asked. "Conjure the ingredients if they don't have ‘em."
"They should drink beer, Mommy gets really happy when Daddy drinks beer," Simone suggested.
"That's weird, our Mummy too," Ellery laughed.
Charlie nodded, opening the cupboards to see if they had what he needed, and getting to work.
"Mac and cheese is ready," Simone announced, serving a portion on each plate.
"Nuggets too," Ellery added, turning off the oven like she watched her mothers do millions of times. Instead of risking a burn, she created a field around the tray and lifted it to the counter.
"I'm ready too!" Charlie exclaimed, hoisting the tray of dessert sandwiches to the table. "I'm so excited t'make Uncle Sean and Aunt Blossom smoochy kiss!"
"Can I help y'pick out what you're gunna wear?" Sean asked Blossom.
"Yes, please," Blossom slowly undressed while he picked something for her. "I'm not saying anything but... you look so hot in that light blue button-up with the dark slacks."
“Say no more,” Sean murmured, pulling out the outfit she’d mentioned before selecting one for her—a purple cocktail dress with sequins that glittered.
"Oh, looks like the dress I wore for my eighteenth birthday party... the night you took my virginity, remember? The first half anyway," Blossom purred as she put the dress on. "I was going insane waiting for you to shag me, you made me wait so long."
"How could I forget?" Sean replied, brushing her hair over her shoulder so he could kiss it. "You were so eager, it made it so hard for me t'hold back," he mused.
"I was a hormonal teenager, what did you expect?" Blossom laughed, as if that had changed.
“You’re just as enthusiastic as you ever were,” Sean chuckled, buttoning up his shirt.
"I would guess you're thankful for that. I love you so much," Blossom turned so he could zip up her dress.
"I love yeh too, darlin'," Sean murmured, stealing a quick kiss. "Y'ready t'experience some romance?" he teased, opening the door.
"I am so ready! Are you ready for us?" Blossom asked, peeking out the door.
"Yes, ma'am, please follow me," Ellery exclaimed, guiding them to the table. She had no idea how many times her own parents had shared that very same table.
"Why thank you," Sean said, taking his seat and unfolding his napkin in his lap. "This all looks amazin'," he exclaimed, gesturing to the food and ambiance around them. You kids did a fantastic job."
"Thank you! We hope you like the food," Simone smiled, for once excited to see them have a moment like that. "You both look very nice."
"We’ll give you some privacy..." Ellery winked, planning on watching from her cousin's room.
"Thanks, babies, we really appreciate it," Blossom nodded.
Sean caught Simone before she could pass, pulling her into his arms to kiss her forehead. "Thank you so much for this, baby. I love yeh so much," he whispered before setting her back down.
"I love you too, Daddy," Simone felt her chest tighten with a feeling she didn't know yet, but she was proud of herself and her cousins.
"Can you believe them? This is so cute," Blossom said before taking a bite of her mac and cheese. "Hmmm I wonder who taught her how to make this..."
“Pretty sure she’s learned from th’best,” Sean said with a grin, popping one of the nuggets into his mouth.
"You are the most handsome man in the world, I really hope I get the job so I can spend more time looking at your beautiful face," Blossom murmured. "Can you imagine? No more late night grading, no more early mornings running to work."
"Is that th'only reason you want th'part?" Sean laughed, offering her a nugget next.
"I miss being on stage," Blossom admitted. "As rewarding as it is to prepare hundreds of kids to live their dream, I kinda forgot about what my dream was."
"Then let's find it again," Sean murmured, taking her hand and bringing it to his lips. "Plus I'll never complain about havin' you around more," he mused, cracking open the can of beer with one hand and taking a long drink for her benefit.
"The children are watching..." Blossom whispered with a giggle, stealing a kiss. "Don't tease me too much or I won't be held responsible for my actions, sexy."
"That's no fun," Sean drawled, leaning in to chase her lips. "Shall I wait til they go t'sleep then?" he asked, chuckling softly.
"I can take a little teasing, but save the big guns for after bedtime," Blossom laughed, scooting her chair closer to him.
"You got it, Mrs. Falco," Sean murmured.
"Fuck, you're getting more charming with age," Blossom breathed.
"It's a gift," he grinned, finally pulling back, not trusting himself not to take it too far. "You ready for dessert?" he asked, picking up one of the sandwiches Charlie had made.
"Y-yeah," Blossom tried to shake off the warmth that threatened to take over and took a bite of her sandwich. "Really good," she said, not noticing how messy her face was with chocolate.
Sean let out a soft chuckle, reaching out to wipe her lip. "Now you're startin' t'look like Nathan," he teased.
"Hey! I spent a lot of time with them growing up," Blossom laughed. "It was fun when Lyds and Win would go to work and we had eating contests. I always lost, but it was a good time. One time I finished a jar of nutella in three minutes, too bad Nats finished in two."
Sean shook his head fondly. "Should we go check on th'kids?"
"Yeah, they shut the door..." Blossom was about to stand up when she decided to steal another kiss. "Okay, now we can go."
"It's working! They look really happy,” Charlie cried in a hushed voice as he peered around the door, holding Simone’s hand.
"See? It's nice to see them enjoyin' themselves," Ellie clapped quietly. "Yeah, I guess they can love each other and love me," Simone finally concluded.
"Yeah, and we love you too!" Charlie exclaimed, pulling both girls into a fierce hug.
"I love you guys," Simone sighed, hugging them back.
"You don't have to watch them smoochy kiss, y’know," Ellery said, offering to hide her cousin's eyes as the adults leaned in.
"No, it's okay. I’ll get used to it," Simone nodded, determined to make it work.
Charlie patted Simone. "How about we play in the blanket fort?"
"Yes! I have legos, we can build a city," Simone shut the door and ran to the fort her mum helped set up.
"Hey kiddos," Sean said, knocking on the door before pushing it open. "Whatcha up to in here?"
"Playin' with legos," Charlie answered, looking up as the adults entered.
"We have a city," Simone pointed at the buildings and houses.
"Whatcha up to out there?" Ellery asked in a teasing voice.
"The food was very nice and we're having a very good time, but we were worried about you," Blossom countered. "Quiet kids aren't usually a good sign."
"What d'yeh mean? We're always good!" Charlie exclaimed, planting his hands on his hips as he looked up at Blossom.
"But you're usually loud, like most little kids."
"We didn't wanna ruin the romance." Simone explained.
"Aww darlin', you're th'sweetest," Sean murmured.
"It's a little early for bedtime and it's Friday, so... how ‘bout this, you kids can keep playing and watching TV, we're gonna watch a movie in the living room and have a cuddle. If you need anything, just call," Blossom suggested, kissing each of the kids on the forehead.
"Don't worry! Go smooch on the couch," Ellery giggled.
"D'hear that, Blossom? I want some special cuddles," Sean whispered, wrapping his arm around her waist. "If you kids need anythin', just give a shout," he said, winking at Simone.
"Okay, Daddy," the little girl winked back before getting up to turn her own TV on.
"Special cuddles sound amazing, we still got some beer left," Blossom whispered back, letting him drag her away from their kid's bedroom. "Wanna put a movie on and not watch it?"
"Sounds perfect."

BNHA | Midoriya Izuku x Preg!Reader
Yesss, it’s done! I hope you like this! <3 It’s fluffy so prepare your heart XD
The headcanons will be released after I’m done with Shouto one too. They’ll be released as one post.
I apologize for any grammatical errors you may find below.
.
Ever since they were married and bought an apartment, the new location of his agency was inspired by their home and the future plans he had thought about.
Whenever his mind ran away with thoughts of the future, they were always filled with his own kids.
He was meticulous even while thinking fleetingly about such things.
Somehow the visual image of them would always lead him to the giddy, longing thoughts about her pregnancies.
Hence, he had somewhat managed to reach out to trusted architects, interior designers, old friend Hatsume Mei to help him with his agency that existed now.
One that was secretly connected to his home, through a secret basement only accessible to him and (Name).
The secret basement had two elevators; one was led directly to his office in the agency and the other led to their apartment levels above.
Of course, there were emergency stairs built into the basement case anything happened to these elevators.
The basement had its own kitchen paired with a food storage room, a fully equipped bathroom, a dining table for four, couches and a spacious bed piled with pillows. All these had an emergency button that alerted him if she was in danger and needed him.
He had placed everything and anything into consideration when he designed the floor plan and was always looking out for more areas that required improvement.
.
In order to conceive, Izuku had been diligent in recording her monthly cycles and researching to understand the best time to achieve what they want in the spare time he could bear to afford while being the world’s number one hero.
That night they decided that they went all the way, and his hard work eventually paid off.
Her sudden hiatus from her Pro-Hero role announced, and her growing bump captured by cameras from paparazzi and nosy civilian alike eventually sparked rumors that rang true.
Deku, their number one hero, was going to be a father.
Words about the topic blowing up the media, they could no longer keep mum about their new arrival.
It was a known fact to everyone. And everyone meant...everyone.
Lurking in the dark corners of the society, villains waiting to crush the Symbol of Peace learning about this was an even greater threat to him than before.
Especially since now that (Name) was six months into her pregnancy.
He had to be more careful.
.
His next patrol was scheduled in another thirty minutes. Somewhere between his paperwork on his computer, he found himself straying away to something more personal.
He couldn’t help himself, he was too excited.
Ever since he found out she was pregnant, he’d been a little obsessed. Okay maybe, little was an understatement.
His phone gallery had always been all about her, but after the news came about, the space in his phone became too tight. That he ended up fussing over which perfect pictures of her to delete.
The browsing history on both his phone, their home computer, and his office computer was spammed with anything and everything related to her pregnancy such as-
‘How long should pregnant mothers sleep?’
‘How to be the best husband for pregnant wives?’
‘What types of pillows are the best for pregnant mothers?’
‘Tips for first-time fathers.’
Now before him was his second notebook.
This furious scribbles about everything he needed to know on it were the evidence of what he had been doing for the past one hour.
The paperwork he was supposed to be focused on was cast aside just like the one on his screen.
Green eyes flitted from the screen to the scribbled notes on his book before finally settling on the information collected on the notebook with a satisfied glint.
A sigh escaped him as his gaze slipped to the time written on the corner of his screen and noted that there were fifteen minutes more to go before he had to walk out the main door for his duties.
Closing the tab that had stolen his attention away from his paperwork, Izuku rose from his chair and crossed to the hidden elevator tucked in the most secluded part of his office.
.
The doors slid open.
Stepping through, green eyes instantly roamed the room and were quick to lock onto (Name) seated in a nest of pillows on the bed.
From her fixating demeanor, she wasn't aware of him yet. Her eyes were running through the book he introduced to her a week ago, obviously engrossed.
His eyes almost instinctively slipping down to her swollen belly protruding out of her maternity dress which looked so flattering on her.
His gaze softened on her.
Everytime he laid his eyes on her, she always did things to him.
Like now, the stir in his chest resonated with his urge to run his hand over her belly.
The need for the tangible warmth from her pregnancy bump to quell this yearning tug in him.
Izuku raised his eyes back to her face in time to catch a sharp expression of pain ripple across her face.
He watched with widening eyes as her hand left the book to hold onto herself, fingers clutching onto the fabric of her dress with discomfort written all over her face.
A shaky breath shuddered out of him as he rushed forward with palpable fear in his heart.
.
A weight sank down into the bed beside her.
Hand soothing over where she felt flutters of little kicks, she raised her eyes to find the worried look on Izuku’s face frowning back at her.
“I-Izu.”
“You okay, (Name), are you in pain?” He ran a hand tenderly down her face, his eyes glistening with panic, “Do you need to go to the hospital?
Her hand released the book in her grip and flew to his hand on her face.
“...Or do you want-”
A chuckle tickled through her mouth.
For a tall man who could announce his physical strength so easily through the ripples of his chiseled, taut muscles just by doing something as simple as walking, Izuku was still the same Izuku she had known ever since their days back in Class 1-A.
But it was what she loved about him. He always cared and never failed to show her how much he cherished her. Someone who never took anything lightly.
Especially something as small as the kicks bumping inside her.
“Calm down, Izu,” Her smile strained at the uncomfortable flutters as she met his eyes with an eager glint in hers.
Her hand moved away to let him understand what was going on.
“Here, feel this.”
Izuku watched her guide his hand to meet the bulging side of her rounded belly and blinked in puzzlement.
His mind raced as he tried to figure out what she wanted him to feel.
He had to force his hand to stay where it was, fighting the urge to run his hand over her belly like he always did.
Then he felt it.
A light thump against his hand.
Izuku stared, stunned.
Then another, just as he was about to wonder whether what he felt was a flicker of his imagination.
“...Wa-Was that?” His widened eyes rose to hers sharply.
“Yup,” Her eyes danced in amusement at the eager lighting up his face, “Our little one is quite a kicker, Izu.”
Izuku felt his heart give a squeeze as his hand ran gently over the area.
“Good,” His other hand splayed across the other bulging side of her belly. ”...That’s good.”
His lips met where he felt the kicks with a soft chaste kiss.
Izuku lingered there, lips pressed against the soft pulsing warmth through her dress, feeling his heart swell with love.
The silence from the man felt so fragile and precious to her. She couldn’t bring herself to say or do anything but to just smile at him.
Finally, he raised his head.
His green eyes were soft and tender on her. “...Does it hurt?
“Quite,” She saw the waver of guilt and worry in his eyes and quickly added, “but it’s not too bad.”
A glance at the clock across them, “Hey, don’t you have to go on your patrol?”
As if he had totally forgotten about it, which he actually did, Izuku jolted with realization.
“Oh right.” His heart sank.
He didn’t want to go.
How could he bear to leave after all that? Especially when his baby was prodding his hands with kicks now, as if not wanting him to leave?
But of course, he still had to do what he had to.
A silent sigh left Izuku.
(Name) had a loving smile ready to meet his gaze when he raised his head.
“Be careful, Izu.”
“I will.” He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I will return to you two once I’m done.” He tucked her hair behind her ears tenderly.
Izuku lowered his gaze to her swollen belly under his hands.
His gaze was wavering as he felt another thump against his palm.
“Be a good boy for Mummy,” His voice was slightly tattered and breathless as he leaned in.
“I promise you,” He pressed another kiss on where he felt the light prods.
“...Daddy will be back as soon as he can.”

Costco Carnage
@madwriterscorner hope you enjoy, im fully dying of laughter so i hope it mads you smile at least!!
Philippe and Rebecca sat contently in the trollies constraints, happily being wheeled towards Costco by their daddy. He made delightfully silly faces, and even snuck them a Haribo for being so well behaved. Their last shopping trip, Philippe had accidently let Apollo’s glamour slip in the toilets and if it weren’t for some quick thinking, that would have been difficult to explain.
Becca from the moment ‘go’ spent the entire time thudding her legs against the plastic chair screaming for juicy juice. Her pertinence had become so unmaintainable they no longer allow ‘Uncy Baldin’ or ‘Narntie Fwebie’ to babysit, because they are like dealers encouraging addicts. They never say no and pander to her every whim.
Matthew and Diana gave eachother a sorrowful gaze before they entered through the automatic doors; Costco had been one shop they hadn’t attempted and hoped that it would fair better then whole foods.
Hint: it did not.
“Why are their television boxes in a food shop?” Matthew’s eyebrows furrowed together as his neck fell to the side in confusion
“There’s wheel burrows and dog beds by the pastries, if that’s any consolation” Diana laughed, encouraging her husband to venture further into the shop “Do not question the aisles, just enjoy the chaos”
He leant down so only she could hear “the last time I enjoyed chaos it ended in a beheading”
“Shall I question whom was at the end of the swordsman’s blade” her eyebrow tipped accusingly
“Oh look, Philippe paw patrol” his change in subject did not go a miss, and she would pester him of it later. For now their main focus was top shop and ensure nothing untoward happened.
“CAP’N TURRBOO” He wailed excitedly pointing to the toy “WANT WANT”
“How do we ask for things politely” Matthew held his sons gaze as they boy looked lost, and his little tongue poked out as his forehead wrinkled, obviously racking his brains for the answer
He looked at his sister, whom had fallen asleep, then back to his father “WANT NOW” he bellowed, thudding his legs. This action caused Becca to jolt awake and the little perfectly formed snot bubble to pop on her nose
“wa we want” she turned to her brother concerned, as if she knew he needed something and wanted to help
His little hand outstretched the figurine “CAP’N TURBO”
With a determined look, one that had almost made Matthew faint at how it resembled Baldwins, she pointed her finger and squinted “Toy pease Daddy” she smiled sweetly, though her stern look never dropped
He sighed deeply looking into the eyes of his children “Alright, you both only get one toy. This is Philippe’s Becca you best make a better choice” he reached for the figurine and placed it into the trolly and Philippe had a victorious look on his face. This time, it resembled his fathers after conquering another country.
“Oh God” Matthew started to silently pray for his children
“What wrong?” Diana appeared at their side, arms filled with tubs of Haribo aka the only sweet treats that come second to juicy juice
“Becca gives the same stern looks as Baldwin, and Philippe looks like Philippe after he’s pillaged a town” he looked wordily as his twins looked thrilled “this is going to be a long shopping trip, mon Coeur”
“Isn’t it always?” she laughed, gripping his arm tightly in comfort
Diana looked around the baby aisle in confusion, one moment she had been by Matthews side and the next he was no where to be found “Come on shall we find your daddy and sister?” she jostled Philippe higher on her hip, took their fake dog by the lead and made way to exit the aisle.
Then she heard it, the screech of wheels scrapping along the floor and a flurry of giggles from a child.
Matthew came bounding down the aisle, bouncing the trolly up and down shouting “TURBULANCE” as Becca cackled in her chair “EMERGENCY STOP” he skidded along the slick floor, almost crashing into the nappies. Both had been in stitches, then became inconsolable when he started spinning the barrel singing ring-a-ring-a-roses.
“Matthew” Diana made his name sound like a berating “as IF it’s not troublesome enough coming on a shopping trip, you’ve attracted the attention of the entire store”
They had been in the open square of the shop, and onlooking mothers looked like they were going to wet themselves in excitement. There’s nothing more attractive then a 6”4 man doting on his children, and that he did.
His head turned to the side and boasted a sloppy grin “there was turbulence”
Becca had giggled, cackled and squealed in delight at the motions she had been put through “Mummy a meanie”
“Mummy is not a meanie Becca do not be so rude” her father smiled, leaning to her ear “she’s a spoil sport”
She had never head her daughter laugh so much, and opted not to comment as she ad been kept entertained during the trip. She would however be having a few choice words with her husband about this trip when they returned home.
Greatfully, the trip had been largely successful until the last hurdle; the till. Philippe was unusually whiney today, and refused to sit still. His sister however had again fallen asleep, drooling everywhere.
The last few items had yet to be scanned, and then all hell broke loose “FWWEEE APPOLLO” Diana’s eyes grew wide as the dog started to morph back to its rightful state and she felt the panic rising. Everything turned into slow motion, without scanning the remainder of the items she threw them into the barrel and Matthew bundled the contorting bird into his arms. He tried his best to smother it, to prevent on lookers from seeing and he was largely successful.
They ran, as quick as Diana’s human pace could take them, and sped towards their car. They faintly heard the security guards screaming their names at their partial tea-leafing escapade. though they did not care, they had a dog bird to attend to. Matthew would have Baldwin rectify the £7.99 difference some other time.
Beads of sweat dripped from Diana as they skidded out of the car park, pelting out of the area as quick as possible. In a rush they had even dumped the trolly in the boot, and they would certainly return the stolen item. Perhaps in a few decades, though.
She looked at Matthew whom looked paler then normal and burst into laughter “That is one trip to add to the list, isn’t that right children” she looked over her shoulder to the back seats and sickness rose in her throat the high chairs were empty
“MATTHEW THE CHILDREN” She bellowed, and he looked through the visor in panic
“OH GOD THE CHILDREN” His eyes had only met the beady ones of Apollo who simply cooed and plucked his feathers from the middle seat
He veered the car off to the side of the road in panic as his rationale had taken over. He realised the mistake before Diana had. They stepped from the car and Matthew pelted to Diana’s side, pulling her to the back of the car “What are you doing? We need to go back – the chil-“
Her sentence was cut short, when he opened the boot and her vision was met with a snoring Becca and gleeful Philippe chomping on a galaxy bar.
They had dumped the children in the boot in midst of chaos.
They would never hear the end of it from Baldwin, whom will most definitely find out from his darling Cara.
“AGAIN AGAIN” Philippe squealed in delight, obviously having enjoyed his little rough ride.

Taking Care of Business
A/N: this isn’t the best thing I’ve ever written, but it’s a THING, so ENJOY! This is loosely based on a request I received from @toomuchlove-willkillyou who requested bondage with Sub!Bri.. I hope you like it doll!! Pairing: Present Day!Brian May x Young!Reader Word Count: 1.7k (not too bad but still short in my mind Summary: Brian misbehaves during dinner, forcing Y/N’s hand once they arrive home.. Warnings: pwop, 18+, age gap, sub!bri, hints of mommy kink, could be read w NIMWD and SDOD, lube is important, plz use lotion after bondage plz think of the skin
You couldn't believe the sheer level of excitement coursing through your body as you gazed down at the mess Brian had made on himself. His cock was still twitching, cum leaking from the slit at the tip of his blood red head. White hot cum covered his belly and chest, sticking to the fine hairs that lined his body, just tempting you to lick it up, to not waste a single drop of the delicious liquid..
But, you couldn't, you had to be strong, had to show him that you were in charge, that his actions had consequences, that he just couldn't trail those gorgeously calloused fingers up your thighs in the middle of dinner with Rog and Sarina.. that he couldn't trail those fingers over your naked cunt before the soup course had been served.. he had to learn his lesson.
That's why you were sat between his restrained legs, a bottle of lube and clear fleshlight in your hands, pupils blown with lust as you watch your husband of 4 months bucking against the vibrating prostate stimulator you'd inserted into him almost as soon as you'd gotten home, pressing him against the front door as soon as it'd shut, smirking when you'd felt just how fucking hard he was.
God, you could feel him throbbing through the fabric of his nice black trousers, and you were certain that if he'd not been in black, you would be able to see a rather obvious dark spot right in the front.. He'd begged you for it, for you to punish him, make him scream for you to stop, to make him cum as many times as he could.. so that's exactly what you were working on.
"Oh Bri, you look so fucking gorgeous like this honey.. all tied up and begging for me to make you cum again."
You leaned down, licking a hot stripe along the inside of his thigh, laughing loudly when his hips buck up, his arms straining against the restraints keeping him from touching you.. god, you really hoped he wasn't going to have bruises the next day.. that would be difficult to explain to people.
"P-please Y/N! I-I don't think I can take anymore.. I-I'm s-so sensitive."
Oh and he was, his cock was absolutely throbbing, even after the earth shattering orgasm that your mouth had just brought him to. But it was perfect for what you had planned for him. Sitting back up, you pour a generous amount of lube into your hands, rubbing them together to warm the liquid.. You wanted him to be punished, but you weren't a fucking sadist.
“Shut your mouth pretty boy, and let mommy take care of your quivering little cock.. it's honestly pathetic how hard you are for me right now, just leaking all over yourself, making a mess.. if it wasn't for how fucking hot you look underneath me right now, I'd just leave you here all night."
You quickly wrap your lubed up hands to his cock, squeezing tightly around him, moaning just a bit when Brian almost comes of the bed, the head and footboard groaning in protest against the force of his jerking against the restraints.
"No sir! You calm your ass down right not or I won't touch you for a week.."
It was just a thinly veiled threat, you knew that you couldn't stay away from him for more than 3 hours, much less 1 week.. but, it did the trick and Brian merely whimpered loudly, settling back down, his white curls frizzy against the robins egg blue sheets. He looked like a goddamn angel, and you get like a succubus, your only purpose for existing to make the man underneath you fall into a world of pleasure and pain.
Continuing your ministrations on his cock with one hand, you reach over and grab the clear fleshlight, a personal favorite of yours to use on Bri.
He had said that it felt as close to your cunt as he could get, that it clenched him like a vice and could make him cum all over himself in less than 2 minutes.. something you wanted to test right now. Releasing his cock, you lean over him completely, pressing a sweet reassuring kiss to his lips, nuzzling his nose just a little.
The two of you could be rough, but you always made sure to comfort the other, to let them know that you loved them and would take care of them. Brian kisses you back just as gently, sighing into the action, just so grateful for you, to have you make him feel good physically and emotionally. His lips are still attached to yours when he feels you slip the fleshlight over his sensitive cock, his mouth opening wide in shock and a mixture of pain and pleasure.
"F-fuck! Y-Y/N! S-so.. fuck!"
You smirk against his lips, twisting your wrist to enhance the friction against his cock, the fleshlight moving along with you, twisting against his cock. His face was screwed up in pain, his poor cock was already so raw and sensitive, but he loved it, he loved how good it hurt. Loved how you knew just how to fuck him to make him a quivering mess.. and you didn't even have to use any part of your body to make it happen. You just had that level of power over him...
"Have you learned your lesson baby? Are you gonna be a naughty little boy anymore? Gonna try and finger mommy under the table of a goddamn Michelin Star restaurant anymore baby boy?"
Your lips were now sucking marks onto his neck, teeth scraping the sensitive skin as your hand sped up to almost lightning fast speeds, the fleshlight making purely obscene noises as you fucked him relentlessly, twisting your hand as you pulled upwards on him. The whimpers and moans coming from his mouth were enough to make your mouth water, and you knew that he was close.
"M-mummy.. p-please! It hurts so good mummy, I-I'm sorry I wa-was so naughty tonight.. I-I won't d-do it again! I promise! P-please!"
You could feel his pulse racing under your tongue, his heart almost beating out of his chest when you move your free hand up to his chest, taking his left nipple in between your index finger and thumb, squeezing down on the sensitive little bud just as his cock explodes, cum coating your hand as he screams. You're desperately thankful that you don't have any neighbors, that you aren't living in that little flat that he'd moved in with you in when he and Anita divorced.. here, he could be as loud as he wanted, and you loved it.
"That's it baby boy, just let go, let it out honey."
Your lips were now pressing soft and gentle kisses to his neck, up his jaw, and onto his cheeks, kissing away the tears that had fallen form his eyes. His whole body was shaking as you lifted the flesh light off of him, gently cradling his softening cock in your hands before lying it down on on his belly. He'd made an even bigger mess than before, so after placing a single kiss to his forehead, your scurry off the bed and into the en-suite bathroom, wetting a rag with warm water before returning to clean your husband up.
He was still tied to the bed as you cleaned him, humming a soft song to him as you did so, taking extra care to be gentle with his cock.. god, it was so red and raw, you almost felt bad.. but then you remembered how much he enjoyed it, how much happiness and pleasure he got from you doing this to him, and you didn't feel so bad anymore.
"You did so good tonight Bri.. I'm so proud of you for being so sweet and listening to me."
You've just finished cleaning him up when you speak, depositing the rag in the hamper in the corner before coming back to untie him, starting with his quaking legs before gently undoing the restraints that held his arms, smiling sweetly when he legs out a sigh of relief, a smile playing on his on features. You smile back down at him, placing a kiss to his lips as you rub lotion on the raw skin of his wrists, not wanting to cause him anymore pain than you already have.
"I'm sorry I was so bad at dinner tonight love... I just.."
He's sheepish, his head ducking into the pillows beside him as you crawl into the bed, your arms going around his shoulders, pulling him flush against you. You chuckle a little at his unfinished sentence, knowing exactly why he had been so bad.
"You wants me to punish you didn't you baby?"
He doesn't respond right away, just buries his face into your neck, his white curls tickling your neck and chin, causing you to laugh.
"It's okay pretty boy, you don't have to be embarrassed about it.. if you want me to punish you, all you have to do is ask.. not shove your fingers up my dress in the middle of dinner.."
You're teasing him, your fingers dancing over his sides as he legs out a breathy laugh, wrapping himself into you tighter.
"I know love, I just wanted to be really REALLY bad for you.. I know how much you like it when I squirm."
He places a kiss to your décolletage, sleep starting to wash over him, a yawn taking over. His cock was absolutely rubbed raw and he could barely think straight, he needed sleep almost as badly as he needed you to help him fall asleep. Sensing his sleepiness, you place a little kiss to his hair, running your fingers through his iconic curls before you settle in yourself, turning off the lamp beside you before lying on your back, allowing Brian to curl into your side completely, his face pressed firmly into your breasts.
He was dead asleep before you could even bring the covers over you, soft snores falling from his parted lips.
"Get some rest baby.. I love you."
Despite his state of consciousness, he somehow manages to moan out what sounds like an 'I love you too', before returning to his snores.

“English and Edward’s accented voice.” “Amestrian or another foreign language.” “Written notes.” ‘Thoughts.’ First Name: Informal Last Name: Formal (Or used to annoy others)
If it weren't for the fact Mrs. Izumi Curtis had not to beat the Elric Brothers to a bloody pulp, tea time would not be such an awkward affair. One moment the woman is beating the Elric Brothers with little to no trouble and said brothers were not even pulling any punches either. She destroyed them. Now she is drinking tea and eating apple pie like as if the two-talking mummy's sitting on either side of her are not even there.
"Do any of them know Amestrian?" Izumi asked, after taking a sip of her drink.
A heavily bandaged Edward, who was sitting on her right, replied with a groan and moan.
"Typical. I'm not surprised. How did you end up with them? You did not explain everything in your letter."
Groan. Moan. Louder groan and groan of pain.
"I understand that part, magic, and alchemy are different yet there is an element that is scarily similar."
Goooooan.
"Different and similar."
Moan?
"You are teaching them the obvious difference right...?"
Squeak!
"You better! No student of mine is going to be a pathetic teacher!"
Edward attempted to scoot away from Izumi's harsh glare, weeping from the dangerous aura that irradiated from her. Oh, how that woman could put the fear into him like nothing else. Now that feeling of fear was replaced by annoyance when the Emperor of Xing sat on the armrest of the couch.
Ling was grinned down at Edward, not even moving or saying anything as he and Edward stared at each other.
"Why is the Emperor of Xing here? Not trying to be rude or anything...sir..."
Ling smiled widely at the question, he swung an arm around Edward's shoulders and completely ignored the squeak of pain from the Golden Blonde. "Edward and I are the best of friends. He once fed me a soup made out of his leather boot!"
"Leather boot...?"
"Best of friends?"
"Right...Friends."
"Once Alphonse marries my sister, we will be in-laws!"
Everyone turned their attention to a girl that looked to be a third or fourth year tending to the younger Elric brother. Mei and Alphonse blush under the attention and it only got worse as they began to whisper about them. Oh, the whispers, it appeared they can't escape them even here at a supposed haven.
"Nooooooooo..." Edward managed to groan out in despair. It wasn't so much for he did not want Alphonse to be with someone that he truly cares for, it was the fact he would be somehow related, Ling. That would be pure torture.
-.-
"And this goes...here." Edward demonstrated how to set up a tent to his students. He was still covered up in bandages and had an obvious limp to his step. That, however, did not deter him from continuing his work of being a teacher. There is a schedule that needs to be kept up with and so far, everything is on track. "Each of you is provided tents, work in groups of two. If you need help, ask for your fellow classmates."
"Yes, Mr. Elric."
Edward stood up, cringing when he felt something pull out of place. He turned around to walk back into the Rockbell home. It was decided that his students were to camp out in the Rockbell's home backyard, while all other guests are to head to the Elric's place for their stay. Rolanda and Quirinus are staying in the two guest rooms. The Alchemy Teacher had decided to camp out with his students and unfortunately for him... so are his teacher and her husband.
Looking over at the back door of the home, Edward saw Sid staring at him with calculating eyes.
Sweat began to form on the back of Edward's neck at the continuous stare. "Sid?"
"Did you buy your suit already?"
"I just did..."
"Rings?"
"Bought that too."
"..."
"You wouldn't happen to uh... still know Mr. Kay is still living?"
"The owner of the flower shop? Yeah."
"...Flowers?"
"Flowers." Sig nodded to himself and turned to get back inside the chatter-filled home.
"Flowers..." Edward sighed under his breath, he sat on the bottom step of the porch. He turned his attention to his student to see them putting up their tents. Some had more trouble putting up their tents while others had already put their ups and were helping the struggling ones with their own. "Red or gold flowers."
The soft creak signifying that someone was opening the back door and soft steps walked towards Edward's left. Edward glanced over his left to see his Teacher lean against the railing of the patio, her focus on his own students.
"How bad is it? Their thoughts on Magic and Alchemy?"
"...To put it bluntly... they believe Alchemy to be a form of lost magic. Complete and utter bullshit. Alchemy does have a magical sense to it, but not to what they believe it to be. For us, that magical sense is Truth. They have no Truth and don't even get me started on their government."
"On a scale of one to ten? How bad?"
"...Amestris without the Government wanting to turn the country into a Philosopher Stone and everyone that is in said Government are filled with dumb assess."
"Ah...Just like the Military here."
"Pretty much."
-.-
Day 6:
"WAKE UP! GET UP! MORNING TIME!"
Rang throughout the entire backyard of the Rockbell residence. Edward is banging pots and pans together to create enough ruckus to wake up his students. Izumi is helping him by using a shaking the tents and yelling for them to wake up. They were enjoying this far too much for anyone's amusement. Except for Winry, Pinako, Sig, and Rolanda. They were sipping on hot tea or coffee as they watch the scene before them.
"I'm going to get breakfast started." Pinako stated before she hopped off the railing and headed back inside along with Winry. Sid did not comment as he followed the women into the home to help them with the breakfast. They were going to have to make a huge breakfast for a large group of people, and several of them could out eat a small army on their own.
"We have a long day ahead of us!"
-.-
"Edward sure mellowed out, I guess being a teacher did him some good." Ling stated while he stared out a window watching Edward teach his students out in the backyard. The Alchemy teacher is teaching them how to properly start a fire and other survival skills they could do without magic.
"You think so? What makes you say that?" Winry asked, glancing out the window. She sweats dropped at what she was seeing outside. Edward is running around the yard partially on fire, his students chasing him around with a water hose and Izumi laughing at the scene before her. "Uh... mellow?"
"Yeah, he would have beat up the kid that set him on fire instead of running off to who knows what!" Ling laughed, keeping his entire attention on what was happening. As if watching his favorite television show or movie. "Now he's... How did he manage to...?"
"Shh! My favorite show is on!"
"MY PANTS ARE ON FIRE!"
"STAY STILL, MR. ELRIC!"
-.-
While Edward got treated for his burns by Mei as his students are working on their homework. It was easier to work together than on their own. All they need to do now is wait for their teacher for further instruction for the last two pages. Even if they are working diligently, every now and then they glance over to see what Mei is doing. By the looks of it, it is alchemy but that is just a theory. From their time learning under Mr. Elric, not once he mentioned anything about healing through alchemy.
"It is called Alkahestry, Purification Arts." Alphonse said to the students, he was leaning against a wall and kept his gaze over at his brother and teacher in said arts. "It is slightly different than alchemy, primarily used in Xing. Primarily used for medical purposes. Mei is a prodigy in Alkahestry as Edward i... wa... a prodigy in Alchemy."
"They're both prodigies?" One student asks, ignoring Alphonse stumble over his words.
"Yes, the best in their fields."
"I can't feel my butt..."
"Oh hush, I'm almost done."
-.-
Day Seven:
"Nature walk?"
"It was this or leaving all of you on an island by yourselves for the rest of the break."
"...Nature walk it is."
-.-
Day Eight:
"Pie..."
"I want more pie."
"Yummy."
"OI! THAT IS MY PIE! Al! LING!"
"I regret nothing."
"...This is my pie."
-.-
Day Nine:
"WHY THE HELL IS THERE A DAMN BEAR HERE IN RESEMBOOL!" Edward screamed as he and his class ran away from a bear. "KEEP RUNNING!"
None of his students responded as they kept running from the bear. It appeared to be hopeless when they suddenly saw Mrs. Curtis pop out of seemingly from nowhere and wrestle the bear to complete submission before killing it. They all watched with shock filled eyes as the woman lifted the bear over her shoulder and walked back to the Rockbell's residence. All the while whistling a random tune.
They did not look away until they heard someone crying, turning around to see Mr. Elric curled up into a ball crying. "She promised she wouldn't do that again..."
-.-
Day Ten:
"Xerxes! Give that back to me!"
Xerxes flew around Edward's head with a small red velvet box in her claws. The tiny owl hooted happily at her human's dismay. This continued until Winry walked out of her home when the owl flew down and dropped the box in her hands.
"Wha...?" Winry glanced at the box with cautious eyes. She raised an eyebrow when she saw Edward giving her a deer caught in the headlights look, or more precisely... at the tiny velvet box. When she went to open it, she ignored the sharp breath Edward took in and she repeated his own actions as she saw in the box. "Edward..."
"Surprise...?"
"Hoot!"
"Shut up!"
"HOOT!"
"...Thanks."
"Hoot."
"Smug owl."
-.-
There were many more ups and downs for the eight Alchemy students. The ups are having the opportunity of talking to other people on the subject on alchemy. Well, it was more like talking to Mr. Alphonse as he translates for Miss. Chang and Mrs. Curtis. It gave them more various opinions, thoughts and new doors to alchemy.
When they were not studying, or asking questions, they would play pranks with the Emperor of Xing, bake with Miss. Rockbell, watch said Emperor bicker or mock fight with Mr. Elric, and many other things. It was a stupendous vacation, that's for sure. The further along they got into the break, they began to wander onto the last two pages of their homework. Mr. Elric had yet to explain what they needed to do.
The last two pages were blank and tomorrow they are leaving to go back to Hogwarts. Their time in this country has come to an end and they know those last two pages need to be done.
"What do you think he wants us to write?"
"Solving alchemy formula?"
"Maybe something else entirely than that?"
"We have to figure it out soon."
"All of you realize there are instructions on the previous page right? Bottom of the paper? Does anyone read the fine print?"
"...Summary of our winter break?"
"...."
"...."
"...."
"..."
"How in bloody hell did we miss that?"
"Details, details."
"Should we mention the bear?"
"Do you want our parents to get Mr. Elric fired?"
"No."
"There's your answer."
-.-
Edward held Winry's face close to his own, admiring her new earrings wistfully. Luminous steal cuffed earrings with a seemingly random design etched onto it making it seem like a deliberate pattern. The design is actually the words he used when he proposed to Winry in Latin separated on each earing. Etched in the insides of the earrings is Winry's own response. "There's a spring break, but it is a week long."
"You'll be back in the summer?"
Edward snorted. "Of course, I always come back one way or another. Have an apple pie ready for me?"
"Of course..."
"KISS HER ALREADY, MR. ELRIC!"
"KIMBAL! YOU JUST RUINED THE MOMENT!"
"GUAH! That doesn't me you have to maim me, woman!"
"Kimbal! McWilliams!"
"Sorry, Madam Hooch..."
"Continue on, Mr. Elric." Rolanda called out from her spot in the train.
"...No privacy whatsoever."
"KISS!"
A kiss to end a seamless vacation.

🏰⚔️🐲🐲👑 DMODT 49 update
Ships didn't agree with Eren, and Eren didn't agree with ships. The constant smell of the fuel being burnt by the engines played havoc with his stomach. He and Luca both suffering as the boat dipped and swayed with every wave. Luca was miserable and grouchy because of it as he kept his face hidden against Eren's stomach, while Eren had fed almost all the fish from Eldia to Marley over the two days boat trip. Neither of them made it below deck, but Zeke didn't seemed overly phased by it. The man already considered him disgusting, so he highly doubted he lay hands on him again. He probably wouldn't have to begin with, if not for the need to "legalise" the wedding and prove it's been consummated. This suited Eren fine. One night with Zeke was enough to provide the omega with nightmares for the rest of his life, besides. Plus, from the sounds coming from the alpha's cabin, he wouldn't have to see Zeke any time soon. Finding his land legs again was harder than Eren thought. He still felt like he was swaying, while he'd left his stomach back on the boat. The port of Marley was surprisingly clean, yet every single citizen looked miserable and no children were in sight. It wasn't what he'd expected at all, but he may have also been harbouring preconceived notions due to having travelled Marley's border. The people out there were dirt poor, struggling... yet, the had something the people of the port didn't have. Laughter. With Luca hidden under the hood of his cloak, Eren was now expected to smile and climb into the royal carriage with his husband who stank of another alpha. Before he could object or ask to ride with the soldiers he been whisked up and info the carriage, Mikasa and Armin both squeezed themselves into the carriage beside him. Yelena say to Zeke's left, glaring at the three of them. Too late now. Unlike in Eldia, Marley's castle sat above the port city they'd arrived in. It was still an awkward couple of hours reaching the sprawling castle. It was more like the Reiss Manor than like the Eldia castle, yet as imposing as the manor had been, it wasn't as tacky as the Marley manor. Everything on display in the grounds surrounding the place felt fake. It was all too perfect. Nature wasn't quite so perfect, and that was what made it so beautiful. He'd discovered he wasn't made for forests, they were fine and all as long as he wasn't lost in them, but this was "cold" nature. How people could surround themselves in it, blew his mind. As the carriage pulled up at the stairs of the manor, Zeke was announced, Yelena jumping out to hold the door open for him. Climbing from the carriage, the alpha shot him a glare as he did. He hadn't even done anything wrong? He hadn't even spoken to the alpha since Eldia. Armin had been the one to tell him they'd be reaching Marley soon. The beta had helped him force down some bread clean up and dress. Brushing his hair for him when Eren's nausea made it hard to keep his eyes open "Eren?" "It's ok, Armin. No matter what happens, we just need to keep moving forward" Patting his friends leg, Eren squeezed out the carriage. Lowering his hood, he drew a few gasps from the Marley soldiers, some even going for their weapon "Zeke, perhaps you'd be so kind as to let your men know that they shouldn't be pointing their weapons at your legal husband, and his son" Zeke waved his hand, the soldiers standing down "This is Eren, the prince of Eldia..." The alpha's tone dropped, as if the words pained him "... and my husband. He and the dragon runt aren't to be harmed" "Thank you. Now, perhaps it's time to meet your family. I mean, now we are legally wed, they are my family too" Smile. Be polite. Don't fall on your face. Repeating those three points to himself, he held his hand out for Zeke to take, the alpha forced to first acknowledge him, then walk beside him, as if they were equals, as they made their way up and into the manor. * Inside the manor smelt awful. It more than smelt awful, it fucking stank. It was as if someone had poured perfume across the floors when they were mopped, then found up all the dust in the manor and sprinkled it across. It sent Luca in a sneezing fit, as Eren scrunched up his nose. Leaning in, Zeke squeezed his hand unnecessarily hard "Shut that ugly thing up" He was so tempted to tell Zeke to shut up, as he was the ugliest thing in the room. Instead, he scratched Luca's forehead "Baby boy, hide your nose in the hood. Dragons have super sensitive noses, and senses far greater than those of an alpha" "I don't care" "Then maybe you should start because you married one. And we wouldn't want everyone thinking we didn't care of each other" "Listen, you..." "No. You listen. I am here to protect my people. I don't care who you fuck. Who you drag to your bed. But if you keep insulting my son, I will take it as an act of war. I don't know how many enraged dragons you've seen, but I can bring down this whole building before your guards can blink. Now. You need to introduce me with respect, even if it's as fake as you are" Why did nerves end up defaulting to his mouth moving on it's own?! Zeke was ready to blow, and probably would have had if not for the pale and plain looking woman walking down the ornate staircase up to the second level "Zeke. You have returned. Why was I not told you were returning so soon, and with this..." Zeke tensed. Whoever this was, she held sway over the alpha "I am Eren, Prince of Eldia through bond. And now, I am Zeke's husband" Eren had seemed some cold and impressive glares in his time, mostly from Levi, but the sourness on the woman's face was as if someone had shoved a whole lemon in her mouth "Zeke? Is this true. Are you married to this... Eren?" "Indeed, mother. Eren, this is Queen Dina Fritz, ruler of Marley. Mother, this is Eren, former consort of Prince Erwin of Eldia" The woman gave a single sharp nod "Yelena, take Eren to the guest chambers closest to Zeke's bedroom. He is to remain there, with his companions, until this has been discussed. The dragon..." "My son stays with me. Prince Zeke has sworn that no harm will come to Eldia, myself, my people and my son" Mikasa spoke up from behind him "We have a signed contract attesting to such. Both signed by Eren and Prince Zeke. One copy resides in Eldia, while we have brought the second copy to Marley. As stipulated, Eren and his son shall not be harmed while here. The marriage between both Eren and Zeke was witness and consummated in front of witnesses. In all terms and purposes, it is a legally recognised marriage" They did? He could barely remember the lead up to his wedding, but if it was signed, that was irrefutable evidence... Thank god someone thought to get all of Zeke's promises in writing "As I said, Yelena, escort him to the room closest to Zeke's. Zeke, come. It seems we have much to speak of" Zeke was definitely in trouble with his mummy. Putting on a show, Eren forced himself to kiss Zeke's cheek. The queen already didn't seem to like him, and what he wouldn't give to be listening in on the conversation to come. Yelena bowed to Queen Dina, before stepping forward "Guests from Eldia, please allow me to show you to your rooms so you might rest. Guards, please make sure their personal belongings are brought up with haste" It was only once Yelena spoke of their belongings that Eren realised they'd been on the ship close to the Marley soldiers quarter. It was no stretch of the imagination to believe they'd probably been looked through and looted. He stupidly hadn't thought of that fact sooner. Even if his things had been looked through, they weren't going to find much of anything other than herb cuttings, seeds and clothes, but the others may have packed items of a more personal nature... or items of a strategic nature. This was yet another reason to dislike ships. He'd even take crossing the desert on a stubborn camel to another ride on fuel powered ship. Following Yelena through the manor, they were lead to the top floor. It took three seperate staircases to reach, and a series of passageways which were just as confusing as the castle had been when he'd first arrived. Stopping suddenly, Yelena opened the door to a very plain room. There was a bed, a desk and dresser. To the right there was a door, and almost directly opposite on the left hand side another door "This will be your quarters for now, Eren. The door opens to your bathroom, while the second door opens to Zeke's private room. This room is usually used by Zeke's... guests" "It's alright, Yelena. I know exactly what kind of alpha Zeke is. I know he spent the whole journey back from Eldia screwing. This will be quite fine. Thank you" "I must ask that you stay here, for your safety" "We won't be leaving" Eren couldn't smell anything overly suspicious, as he walked into the space. As far as jail cells went it wasn't completely horrible "Is there anything I can bring you?" "Some milk in a bowl please. Cows milk is fine" "Very well" Carrying Luca over to the window, Eren set him down on the edge as he looked out at the view. It wasn't that terrible. He could see the whole port city, and he could watch the bird swooping over the docks. Rubbing Luca's head, Luca rose to sit on his butt with both his front feet against the window of the glass "I know, baby boy. I know. It's ok. This is home now" Luca trilled sadly. It wasn't the tower. He couldn't explore and cause mischief until his heart was content. Here there were no lingering smells of Levi for the dragon to find "Yeah. I know. I don't know how long we'll be expected to stay in here, but I'll take you exploring once we can" His son looked disappointed as he looked up with him with wide eyes. Forcing a smile, he lifted Luca back into his arms "Yelena will bring you some milk. You're getting bigger" "Can it even understand you?" Eren mentally sighed, walking over to the bed to sit. Jean, Connie, Sasha and Armin were hovering awkwardly, while Mikasa was sussing things out. Jean wasn't happy about this, he hadn't wanted to come to Marley and Eren hadn't wanted him to come either. They still butted heads over most things "Even if he cannot speak, the things he says are still more important than anything that comes from your mouth" Sasha cackled, while Connie snorted "Oh damn!" The scent of anger flared from Jean. After dealing with Zeke and being abandoned by Levi, Eren's omega whimpered mentally "I didn't ask for this! I was fine in Eldia" "I was fine with you being in Eldia too. So if you want to complain, I'm not stopping you from going back down to the port and taking a boat back to Paradis" Armin sighed a sigh so much like Erwin's, Eren nearly looked for the man "Do you two always have to fight?" "Sorry, Armin. It's... it isn't my intention to fight" No. It was his instincts kicking in. Telling him he should submit to Jean just because he was a fucking alpha. Casting a sad glance in Armin's direction, his friend returned it with a sad smile "I know. We're all on edge. Maybe we should talk about something else?" "Like how Eren somehow became the ruler of Eldia? He was only fucking..." Jean was cut off by Mikasa snarling "Don't you dare insult my brother. For the time being, we shouldn't discuss anything. We're in Marley, and we don't know who could be listening" Anyone could be. Magic webs were everywhere, like in the castle back home "Mikasa's right. I was going to suggest the same thing. If they have a dragon here, they can hear everything being said" Rubbing Luca's back, the dragon reached up. Placing Luca on his shoulder, his son nuzzled into his neck with his wet nose "Does that mean you can hear everything being said?" "Yes and no. I can hear someone yelling, but can't make the words out. They don't have a silencing spell on the castle, instead they seem to have one that bleeds the words into something unintelligible. When I was with Han... when I was with a friend, he showed me how to hear less" Jean scoffed "How to hear less? Like you could hear much to begin with" "I hear the way your heart beats faster when you look at Mikasa. Your scent shifts and you hold yourself taller. Dragons have exceptionally fine tuned senses. That's how I didn't need to be down in the boats cabin to know that someone was sleeping with Zeke. It's also how I know storms are coming, or can read a piece of paper from across the room" Jean jumped off the bed, drawing his sword "Say that again!" "Jean, that's enough! Eren, don't bait him like that" Scolded by Armin, Eren knew he'd brought it on himself "It's the truth though. I can also smell and detect most poisonous herbs. There's no poison in these rooms, though I think there would have been had there been longer to prepare" "They did have a week" "Zeke didn't notify his mother of the marriage. I have the feeling that Queen Dina doesn't approve, and no doubt will be looking for a legal way to dissolve the union, or she would have been until Zeke told her about the heir clause, and my not being able to conceive. Three years may be a small lifetime for some, but with the resources buried beneath Eldia's soil... if Marley took possession of them, they'd be unstoppable" "What's to stop Zeke from acting now that he's your husband?" From the shift in the room, Sasha had asked the question on everyone's mind "Me. That's about it. The promise no harm will come to the people of Eldia. I know Rod Reiss doesn't wish for war, but I do feel that if we dissolved into war, dragons would come to our aid. I'd Zeke starts making more royal decrees, I can override them as Eldia's prince. Plus, if he does do something to Eldia, I wasn't lying about burning this manor to the ground. It's ridiculous. The border towns are so poor that people are starving, yet their happier there than they are here. Mikasa, which door leads to the bathroom? I need to get the smell of those boat fumes off myself and Luca. He's not feeling very well" "The left door leads to the bathroom, the right to Zeke's quarters" "Ok. While Luca and I shower, find a way to lock that door. If you can't, I'll have to magic it or something" Climbing to his feet the world span, his stomach dropping as it did. He was so sick of feeling sick, and so sick of feeling like he was still on that crappy boat. Giving it a few moments to pass, Luca whined sadly against him, prompting him to push his own problems aside. His son was sick, and he couldn't care for himself. Even if Eren felt like death warmed up, Luca needed to come first. With the world still deciding it needed to be a dick and stay out of focus, he made his way over to the bathroom, hoping there would be plenty of hot water and soap. While Eren had been showering, their belongings had been delivered by Yelena. The tall woman still waiting in the bedroom when Eren walked out with just a towel around his waist, and Luca on his shoulders. Between Zeke, Erwin, and Mikasa seeing him naked, he simply couldn't find the effort to care. Plus, the clothes he'd worn on the ship stank badly that there was no way he was putting them back on, even for only a few moments while he changed "Prince Eren, Queen Dina has requested your presence at dinner at night. You are to attend alone" "I'm not leaving my son behind" It wasn't that he didn't trust them with Luca. He just didn't trust them with Luca. Yelena didn't even seem to care as she started to repeat herself "The Queen..." "Please inform Queen Dina I would be more than happy to attend, but my son shall be accompanying me" "Very well. You're expected to be dressed accordingly and ready within the hour. I shall come to collect you when it is time" "Thank you, Yelena. Have rooms been organised for my personal guard?" "Yes. Queen Dina has requested they stay in the rooms just further down the hall. Shall I show them?" "That would be helpful. Thank you. Armin, can you please stay and help me prepare? I must look my best for her majesty" "Of course" Mikasa didn't want to leave the three of them alone, but thanks to Armin soothing her by assuring her they weren't going anywhere alone, their 4 friends were shown to their rooms. Armin immediately leaping into panic mode once the others were gone "Eren! Can you really just go to dinner with Luca? The Queen requested you alone" "Luca stays with me. It's as simple as that. He'd intelligent to know something big is going on, and small enough that he still needs his mother. There's also the fact he's still recovering from the boat strip. The fumes weren't that great" "I thought riding on one of those boats would be nicer than it was. Will Luca be ok?" "Yeah. Where did Yelena put Luca's milk?" "It's on the desk. Should I take him while you get dressed?" "Actually, you can chose what I wear. I grabbed my Draecian robes, so I should probably wear them. I have to look like I know what I'm doing" "You're doing better than I thought you would... not that I thought you wouldn't, but..." "It's the politeness isn't it? I watched Levi, and Erwin long enough to pick up a thing or two. Then there was appearing on the prince's arm when we returned from the port. I really don't know what I'm doing. Does it make you feel better?" "No. Not really. I don't know what I'm doing either..." Eren carried Luca over to the bowl of milk, the young dragon sat down next to it like eating was punishment. Kissing his son on the head, the omega then looked back to Armin "You're doing fine. You're a beta, so Zeke isn't threatened by your dynamic. My omega also isn't on edge with you, like it is with the others given their all alphas" "Eren, you..." "Armin. I'm still not ready for that conversation. We need to get me ready for dinner for now" Armin dressed him in graduated blue robes that were from Eldia rather than Draecia. As soon as they'd opened the trunk, it'd been clear that his things had been gone through. Some of his clothes had even slashed and torn, or stained with things he was sure he didn't want to know. Armin kindly dumped everything damaged in the bathroom for him, while Eren fussed over Luca, and his hair. Wearing a cloak seemed rude, but his son wouldn't stop nuzzling into his neck and messing up his hair. Luca was still causing mischief when Yelena returned, Zeke with her. He'd thought that his attending dinner alone had meant he wouldn't be forced to see his husband. Yet, there Zeke was. Looking both annoyed and like his mind was a million miles away. Hopefully he was annoyed at whatever he was thinking of, rather than Eren, because dinner was going to be awkward enough as it was. * Eren couldn't have made a worse impression. Dina had been speaking with her advisors just before they were announced into the dining room. The woman not shy to call him an "abomination", that needed to be dealt with. It wasn't like Dina could do anything about the marriage. Zeke had signed off on it, so now she had to suck it up. Things only went from bad to worse when they were served dinner. Eren's portion less than half of Zeke's. He was served water instead of wine, and for some unknown reason, Zeke had kicked his shin under the table. For her part, Dina was exceptionally old fashioned. Omegas weren't fit to be princes, and omega's were supposed to wear collars. He'd had no idea about that bullshit given the mages from Marley in the castle didn't. If he wanted to move throughout the castle, he was expected to wear one. He was also expected to dress more feminine than he would have liked, because child birth was a women's job. It was all a fucking joke. The people along the borders didn't wear collars. They also wore whatever the hell they wanted. If he was a Marley mage, then he'd be on the first boat over to the Eldia... even with his hatred of the fossil fuel powered monstrosity. It was this train of thought that brought him back to thinking of Reiner and Bertholdt, he had no idea how he'd explain that night... or any of it if the Queens asked, yet as the awkward dinner came to an end she hadn't. She'd asked the bare minimum, such as his parents professions, then their appearances. The question had sent his mind blank, leaving him gutted that he hadn't immediately recalled his mother's brown hair and bright green eyes like his own, or his father's tall stature with his greying black hair and grey eyes. He hadn't thought of them in so long... he couldn't remember the last time he had, and while a whole lot of things had happened, he'd never thought he'd forget them like he had.

Here Comes The Child Bride
by sleepyhollow_101. Trigger warning for sexual abuse.
When people talk about child marriages, most of the time they aren’t thinking of America. As though America is some kind of utopia where things like that just don’t happen.
It’s not true, though, is it? Child marriage may not be as common here, sure. But it does happen. In fact, only ten states actually have laws against it.
Guess what? I didn’t grow up in one of those ten states. Even better, I grew up in a cult. Our leaders really emphasized the idea of “pure” brides and virginity and virility… I was taught, as a child, that only a young woman embodied these traits.
“Young woman” does not mean a twenty-year-old, by the way. Or even an eighteen-year-old. That would make it almost understandable, wouldn’t it?
I was sold into marriage when I was fourteen.
In a way, I was one of the lucky ones. See, in our cult, a girl “came of marriageable age” when she had her first period. My older sister got hers at nine years old. I still remember her screaming in the bathroom when it happened – my mother hadn’t told us anything about periods, or our bodies. My sister saw all that blood and really thought she was dying.
Maybe that is what it meant for her. Because only a few months later she was married off. Her husband was in his mid-twenties. She cried herself to sleep every night until her wedding.
I never saw her again.
Since the day I turned nine, I lived in mortal fear of ending up like my sister. I prayed and hoped to our version of God that I would never “come of age.” It was like a curse to me, to meet the same fate she did. For a while, it seemed that something had answered my prayers, because year after year passed and it didn’t come. My parents grew restless. When I was twelve, my father checked my panties every night to make sure I wasn’t hiding anything from him.
But then, halfway through my fourteenth year, it came. It came during the night and stained my sheets and there was no hiding it.
My parents were so relieved. I was so upset I actually vomited when I saw the proof, those stained sheets that I couldn’t pray away.
The man they gave me to was forty-three years old.
Can you imagine that? Can you imagine your own parents just… giving you away to someone like that? Even though I always knew it would happen to me, it still hurt. It still poisoned something deep inside me.
They didn’t wait as long for my wedding as they did with my sister. Apparently my soon-to-be husband was in a rush because we were married only a month later.
I won’t bore you with details about my wedding, or the first time meeting my husband, or the ride to our new “home” – I had to be dragged into the car, kicking and screaming.
Instead, I’ll tell you this: everything changed on the balcony.
Once he brought me home, he ushered me into the master bedroom and, thankfully, left me there on my own for several hours. He told me he wanted nothing more than to “attend” to me the way a proper husband should – and we all know what that means, don’t we? – but that he had to take care of some business first. Before leaving the room – and locking it for good measure – he told me to dress in the lingerie that he had left for me on the bed. I eyed it with disgust before throwing it on the floor and stalking out to the balcony that I discovered behind some thick floor-to-ceiling curtains. My parents must have been proud to marry me off to someone so rich.
The night was freezing cold and there was a light snow falling, slowly covering the ground below. Briefly, I considered throwing myself off the ledge, but I was too afraid. I thought that there was a small chance I might survive, and I didn’t want to think about what might happen to me if I did.
I’d made up my mind to go back inside and was halfway to the door when I heard something behind me. Curious – and not a little afraid – I turned back around.
The thing that sat on the balcony railing was strange.
It was perched there on its hind legs like an animal. Its arms trailed down to the balcony floor – they were so long I thought they might be able to reach me across the balcony where I stood. Each arm ended in a claw that looked sharp enough to cut leather. Its body was skinny – so much so that I wondered how it didn’t simply fall apart. It swayed in the breeze and its feet – well, its other set of claws, I guess – tightened their grip on the balcony.
The skin on its face was dried and wrinkled. In fact, it looked almost decayed, like it was some sort of mummy. Its mouth was nothing more than a gathering of bunched up flesh that pulled and tugged every time it stretched its jaw. Its eyes were huge – the size of baseballs – and totally white. It stared vacantly at me and I stared back at it.
The last thing I noticed was its throat. There wasn’t much to notice there, really, except that it had a small slit that pulsed with every breath it took. I wondered what it was for.
The thing stretched open its mouth and left it open wide for a second, giving me the chance to count its tiny, sharp shards of teeth.
It tilted its head to the side and it asked me, “Why are you crying?”
I lifted my fingertips to my cheek in surprise. I didn’t realize I’d started crying again.
“Because… my parents made me marry someone I don’t want to… and I’m scared and… and I want to go home!” My voice broke at that last bit. To be truthful, I wasn’t really sure I wanted to go home after all, but I knew that at least I didn’t want to be here anymore, in an unknown house with an unknown man who had anything but unknown intentions.
The creature blinked in surprise. “Marriage? You are but a child. How can this be?”
I buried my face in my hands at that and cried harder. Hearing it said aloud like that somehow made everything worse. It made everything more real.
I heard a scraping sound and looked up to see the creature hunched in front of me. Even squatting on its hind legs it was taller than me. It reached out and ran a tip of its claw down my cheek very, very gently. “Do not cry, little one,” it said.
I stopped crying, more out of shock than anything else. For a second I wondered if I should be afraid of it. It didn’t give me enough time to make a decision.
“What is your name?” it asked.
“Um… Mary.” That’s right, like the Virgin Mother. Hilarious, right? Like a joke I wasn’t let it on until it was too late.
“Hmm. Mary.” It nodded to itself and retracted its hand. Its claw had drawn a bit of blood from my cheek. I hadn’t noticed. “Mary. Do not cry anymore. I will help you.”
“You will?!” I cried. A burst of joy flooded my chest. It quickly turned to ice when the creature turned to go. It climbed up on the balcony railing and I ran after it. “Hey, wait, where are you going?! Aren’t you going to help me??”
It looked back at me and its eyes looked almost sad. “In time. I need something from you first.”
“What do you want? I’ll give you anything.” I was breathless with fear. I didn’t want it to leave, not yet.
“I need your hate. When you have enough of it, I can help you.”
I felt my heart sink right through the floorboards. I hated. I hated very much. I hated my parents and the man in the other room and everyone else who watched my sham of a marriage and did nothing to stop it. I had so much hate, and yet it wasn’t enough. I was so sure at that moment that it would never be enough.
“What do I call you?” I asked.
It blinked slowly, then said, “Yours. You may call me ‘Yours,’ because that is what I am.”
With that, it crawled down the balcony and disappeared into the night and the snow and the quiet.
And I was once again left utterly alone.
I was sitting on the floor of the balcony, half covered in snow when he returned. He dragged me back inside in disgust, furious that I’d refused to wear the lingerie he had picked out for me. He beat me, ripped off my clothes, and forced me to put it on in front of him while I sobbed.
You and I both know what happened next. It’s a story many women have told throughout history and they’ve all told it better than I could. So you’ll forgive me, I hope, for skipping the details of the next part.
The next day I woke up covered in blood and bruises. He sent me downstairs to make his breakfast. I could barely walk. In that moment, I hated him.
But I guess I didn’t hate him enough, because Yours didn’t come back.
He didn’t come back until a month later. My ‘husband’ treated me like a slave, having me do all the chores and cooking during the day. And then he’d rape and beat me during the night until there was blood in my urine and it hurt to sit down. One night, I accidentally overcooked supper. Not burned, just left it on the stove for a few seconds too long.
He beat me until I threw up, which he made me clean it up. He locked me on the balcony and made me sleep outside in the snow.
And I hated him. Oh, I hated him so much.
Yours came to me that night on the balcony. If it hadn’t, I probably would have died from the cold. It curled around my body and kept me warm – it was surprisingly warm, you know, for a… whatever it was. It whispered assurances to me and held me close while I slept.
I didn’t see Yours for another few months after that. The days went by with relative monotony. It wasn’t until about six months after we were married that I realized something was wrong.
It’s funny in a grim sort of way. He was the one who figured it out. I was throwing up one morning and he walked into the bathroom. “When was the last time you had your period?” He asked. It hadn’t been for over two months, and I told him as much. Stupid as I was, I didn’t even realize you should have one every month.
“I knew it.” His eyes were practically glowing with excitement as he moved behind me and snaked his arms around my belly, caressing it on the way. I suppressed the urge to vomit again. “You’re with child. You are going to have my baby.”
He was absolutely elated. I was shaking with terror. A baby? Me? I didn’t know much about having babies, but I knew it wasn’t pleasant. It hurt and it made you sick and at the end you had to take care of the thing and how was I going to do all that? When he left for work, I sank to the floor and cried my eyes out. I cried for a full hour before managing to get up and do my chores.
That night, I waited on the balcony. That night, Yours came.
He sat there from his perch on the balcony, staring at me. My eyes and chest were hollow. “I hate him. I truly hate him,” I said.
“Do you?” said Yours. I nodded. It beckoned to me, “Come closer.”
It reached out and trailed a claw down my cheek, staring at me. Its eyes held mine for a long minute before it shook its head. “No, no. It isn’t enough.”
I cried out as its claw fell away. “When will it be enough? I can’t hate anymore. I can’t. I hate him as much as I’ve ever hated anything. What am I supposed to do?”
Yours leaned towards me and pressed its mouth to my forehead in a strange imitation of a kiss. “In time,” it said. That was all the comfort it gave before it scuttled down the balcony and left me to my darkness.
In the months that followed my stomach grew bigger. My worries ballooned at about the same pace.
My husband wouldn’t take me to see a doctor. He told me that I would have a home birth. He wouldn’t get me any medicine. He wouldn’t tell me what I was supposed to do to keep the baby healthy. I didn’t know anything about my own pregnancy.
Worse still, I kept worrying about what would come after the birth. What if it was a girl? See, if it was a boy, I wouldn’t have to be so worried. Boys were allowed to go to school. They were allowed to choose their wives. They were allowed to come and go as they please.
But not girls.
What if I had a daughter? I wondered what my husband would do to her. How he would look at her. If he would… touch her. I thought about marrying her off to someone twice her age. I thought about never seeing her again, just like I’d never see my sister again.
I thought an awful lot about that.
So I suppose you might say what happened was a blessing, although at the time it certainly didn’t feel that way.
My husband came home drunk one night. Angry. Looking for a fight. Something had gone wrong at work, I suppose. He had some nights like that. But I foolishly thought he’d leave me alone this time. After all, I was several months along at that point – I don’t know how many, but my stomach was protruding rather obviously from my skinny frame. He didn’t much care about me other than as a sex doll, but I knew he cared about the child.
Apparently he didn’t care enough.
That night when he beat me, I begged him to stop. I told him he would hurt the baby. Somehow that made him even more angry. And when he punched me hard in the stomach, I knew he felt no remorse for what he did.
I fell to the floor, holding my belly, clutching at it while I screamed. He screamed at me in turn, blaming me, of course. Blaming me for losing the baby. Because we both knew it was dead. It couldn’t sustain a blow like that and live.
An hour later, the blood started. I hadn’t particularly wanted that child, but I still cried. I cried for it and for myself and for what had become of my life. I cried even as he screamed at me through the bathroom door for being a stupid slut, a whore, a Babylonian skank, a Devil’s curse.
Once he was done with his screaming, he stumbled to his bed and collapsed into a drunken slumber. I waited until I was sure he was out cold before unlocking the door.
I dragged myself out onto the balcony, a trail of blood following in my wake. I collapsed on the balcony floor, looking up at the moon, wanting to curse it like I had been cursed. I sat there on my knees and screamed at the sky, trying to pour out all the hate and rage and anger. Instead, I made it grow bigger and bigger and bigger.
Yours appeared over the balcony railing. It knew something was different this time. It came and sat next to me, running its claw through my hair. It was trying to soothe me. There was nothing left to soothe.
I could tell it was waiting, so I spoke.
“I hate him.” I said. I was calm. I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t cry. I simply spoke from somewhere in my chest that had been locked until that very moment. “I hate him for what he has done to me. And to the baby. I hate my parents for giving me to him. I hate the people who looked on and who did nothing. I hate them all and I want them to suffer.”
I don’t know what I expected from Yours just then. If I thought it’d be triumphant or sadistic or happy. All I know is that I didn’t expect the way it looked at me – sad, compassionate, resigned.
“It is time, then, for me,” it sighed, its voice a rasp on the wind that I could barely hear. “If I do this, a piece of you will come away with me forever. Do you understand?”
I nodded at it. There was so little of me left, but if it wanted me, it could have me. It could have all the pieces – I didn’t want them.
It moved to a crouch then, just low enough that it could slip its claw into mine. It held my hand as it brought me into the room where my husband slept. It looked at me with its blank eyes and said, “Watch.” I did.
Yours straightened its spine. As it did so, its neck became longer… and longer… and longer. I could hear its spine cracking and creaking as its neck unfurled. The slit in its neck began to widen until it gaped open, exposing the darkness of its innards.
From inside the slit, two muscles darted out. They were long and firm, resembling spider legs but for the fact that they had no fur on them. They didn’t even seem to have skin. It was just red, pulsing flesh crawling out from somewhere inside it. A deep hacking sound emanated from inside its chest as they continued to grow until they reached maximum extension. Tipped with a sharp, bony point, the two appendages rested on the floor, tapping impatiently against the floorboards.
Yours shifted until it was on all fours, its body about the height of my head. It moved forward at a painfully slow pace, approaching the bed where my husband slumbered. I noticed its eyes were closed and it used its throat appendages to feel around the bed until it found his flesh.
Once it had a sense for where my husband lay, its claws came forward. One grasped my husband near his collarbone, the other grabbed his pelvis. Yours leaned forward and all was still for a moment.
Then, it pulled.
It yanked its claws apart hard, so hard that my husband’s body ripped in half. By the time he awoke and began to scream, he was already in two separate parts, his internal organs spilling out between them. His agonized screams were soon drowned out by the blood filling his throat. As he sped towards death, the strange muscles extending from Yours’ throat began to comb through his organs, picking them apart and bringing them back to the maw in its neck. It swallowed my husband down piece by piece while its claws raked along his body, flaying him open. By the time Yours had eaten its fill, he was half-consumed, a mess of blood and flesh that was unrecognizable as human. He twitched for a long time after he died.
Eventually, the appendages retracted back into Yours throat. The process took several minutes, during which time I stared at the bloody mess on the bed. I wondered if I’d always remember that… if maybe, one day, images of his face would be replaced with this image of my triumph. I could only hope.
When Yours was finished, it crawled back to me.
“What happens now?” I asked.
“I am Yours,” it replied. “You must choose.”
A kind old man in a pickup truck brought me into the hospital several hours later.
He’d found me walking on the side of the road, covered in blood – most of it mine – and had offered me a ride, no questions asked. I wasn’t afraid. I knew that I had a protector watching over me. A guardian angel missing its wings.
The police came, of course. I told them every detail of what happened. At first, they were appalled, then bewildered. By the time I finished, they were convinced I was crazy.
They were a little less convinced after they found my husband’s body. Or what was left of it.
I was surprised how little I had to deal with the police, actually. I thought maybe they’d lock me up or open some big investigation or something. Instead, they informed me that my husband had been a very powerful man. That if they made his marriage to me known, I might become a target. I would be blamed for his death. I would be treated like a whore who had him killed. After all, among rich men, such things as what he did to me can be overlooked.
The official news story said that he died of a heart attack. The police knew that I didn’t kill him – there’s no way I physically could have done something like that, especially to someone more than twice my size. They probably thought that I had somebody kill him. I suppose they aren’t wrong.
They wanted to put me in foster care. I didn’t entertain that thought for even a second. As soon as I was able to, I left the hospital and never looked back. They didn’t look very hard for me.
The next visit I paid was to my parents. It took me a while to find them – I’d barely ever left my house growing up and I didn’t even know my own address. But I found them.
They were surprised to see me. And uneasy. I wonder if they ever felt guilty for what they did. Either way, it didn’t matter. I asked them what happened to my sister. They told me they didn’t know, but I could tell they were lying.
Yours helped me take care of them. It held them down and skinned them slowly, keeping them alive for hours as they screamed and begged for mercy. Finally, they told me the truth: my sister had been murdered by her husband two years after she’d been married off.
I let Yours kill them then. I didn’t have any more use for them. As he finished them off, I searched the house and stole as much cash as I could find.
I drifted for the next few years. I used the money I took from my parents to forge some documents so I could get work. They were obvious fakes, but some employers don’t really care. A lot of them gave me work out of pity, I think. They thought I was alone in the world.
But I was never alone. I always had Yours to comfort me.
I still don’t know much about Yours. I don’t know what it is or where it comes from. Of the few people I’ve told, most seem to think it’s some kind of a demon. I know that’s not true. Nobody can live through what I’ve lived and still believe in God. People like me don’t have the luxury of that kind of fantasy.
No, I think Yours is just another creature, like you or me, trying to make its way in the world. And it has grown quite fond of me, I can tell.
I know now what it meant when it told me that I had to give it a piece of myself. Each time I command it, you see, it takes away a little piece of my humanity. I couldn’t feel it at first. After all, I didn’t think I had any humanity left. But after it took both my parents, I could feel that something in me was changing. It happens just a little at a time, but it happens nonetheless.
It didn’t want to do that. It didn’t want to take anything away from me. But it was the only way to save me. It’s what must be – the consequences of our deal.
It mourns for me. It mourns for the humanity I’ve lost and for the childhood that I never had. It mourns because I cannot love. Well, that’s not true. I love Yours. I don’t love anything else. I don’t think I ever will.
Each day when I look in the mirror, I see something that’s a little less than human. Maybe that is its doing. Or maybe a substantial part of my humanity died when I was forced into that marriage. I’ll never know. What’s more, I don’t particularly care.
Lately, I have been thinking about all the other little girls trapped in these marriages all across the US. The ones who think they’ve been abandoned, forgotten about. The ones who are waiting for someone to come save them, because they cannot save themselves.
But I could save them. I could do it. I don’t know how much humanity I have left to give, how much until I no longer even remotely resemble a person. But I think that it’s worth it. If I can save even one child from the fate I was given, from the choices I had to make, it will be worth it.
It mourns for me now, too, that I’ve made my decision. But I won’t regret it. I won’t regret giving my life and my humanity for something bigger than myself.
Perhaps in time, I, too, will be like Yours. Or Yours will be like me. I only hope it stays with me so I don’t have to go it alone.
Yes… that’s what I must do. I’m ready now.
Are you?

How to Work From Home With Little Kids
Wow – how things have changed lately. Without going on too much about all the negative things about COVID-19 – I know we all know it by now! – what it means for a lot of people is that we are working from home… and many of us with children home too.
For me, having to stay home with the kids because of coronavirus doesn’t really feel like a huge change or adjustment, more like a sort of resigned return to the familiar. I’ve worked from home for ten years now, and five of those have been with kids. So lately life sort of feels like a surreal version of school summer holidays, one without playdates and play centres and playgrounds and outings and the usual distractions I would ordinarily try to busy our days with.
Both kids have been coping better than I had thought they would (so far). Little Nerd, who is almost five, was disappointed when I said he wouldn’t be going to pre-school any more, which he loves, but he’s been good.
It was harder with Miss Nerd – but more for us than for her, I think. She is 18 months old now, and she had FINALLY got a two-day-a-week place in daycare two months ago. We were loving having more structure and kid-free time in our routine (me especially, as it made work so much easier) and then she finally got to that sweet spot where those heart-wrenching teary drop-offs were subsiding. She started to get excited about going and now she’s not going any more – that is hard. It’s a bummer but it is what it is. I’ve been trying to look on the bright side of the situation, because what else can you do? I think about things I’m grateful for – how lucky are we to have a big, messy garden (I’ve never been so grateful for all these weeds to pull up before!) our cubby house, two happy healthy kids, nice weather, things to paint, nature reserves to walk the dog, birds (little things can be big things). Working from home.
I’ve worked from home since I ‘fell into’ freelance when I was 23. I had a job at a couple of magazines, which I initially loved, then began to hate. I felt really depressed there and had already been job-hunting for a couple of months. I was going to wait to leave until I had something else to move onto, but then one day I ended up snapping at the CEO and quit on the spot without giving it more than about two seconds thought other than knowing I was done. It felt like the BIGGEST weight off my shoulders. I was already freelancing on the side while I worked at the magazines, and decided to pick up more freelance feature writing while I continued to look for another full-time job. I got so much freelance work that I realised I could write full-time. A year later, I backpacked around Europe with my best friend and then I bought the house.
Sometimes I think ‘Ten years of freelance… that’s embarrassing.’ That’s a lot of alone time and conversations with my dog that I often muse have probably stunted my emotional maturity and made me (more) weird. But the introverted part of me really enjoys working from home and the quiet. I like the work-life balance, not being stuck in traffic, the flexibility working from home affords. There are cons, but there are so many pros.
For a good few years, my daily freelance schedule would usually go like this: I’d wake at 7.30, perhaps 8. I’d make my bed, breakfast and coffee, and shuffle to my desk overlooking the garden, where I’d sip coffee and answer emails in my pyjamas, then shower and get ready for my morning house walkthrough, if I had an appointments day. To avoid getting stuck in morning traffic, I’d only time all my appointments to be from 10am onwards. If I had a writing day, I’d write stories until 11am, then change into my exercise clothes and take Nala for a run. Come home, shower, make lunch. Evening – knock off at 5.30, take Nala to the dog park. Come home, cook dinner and watch a movie with Mr Nerd. Or I’d get ready to go out for dinner and a drink with a friend, then do a little bit more writing before bed. Or I’d go to indoor beach volleyball, or perhaps a Zumba class. The evening was my oyster.
And then I had kids.
Working from home with little kids is possibly one of the biggest PAINS IN THE ARSE you could experience. (I try not to swear on my blog, otherwise I would have used a choice swear word there).
But trying to be productive and lucrative while you have a really small, irritating version of yourself glued to your side asking inane questions or doing destructive things can be almost impossible.
I think most parents will understand that feeling when they’ve finally settled the baby down for a nap and thought, “Right! Now I can quickly get to x,” only to have the baby declare catnapping is trendy and wake just 20 minutes later, spoiling all your plans. Or maybe you’ve felt the fatigue as you’re typing a Very Important Email while gritting your teeth at the 498th, “Hey, Mummy…?” of the day. Or perhaps you could just about cry because it seems like your children are diabolical, deliberating trying to sabotage your career… surprisingly, they’re not. But it feels like they are.
Doing a job with kids at home is bloody HARD. No matter how organised I try to be, every day, there are still tasks I need to do, emails to be answered or calls to return, that require focused time at my desk, ideally without bloodcurdling screams and wails in the background. My husband is often on work trips, so I’ve always been extremely grateful to my mum, who helps me out a LOT with the kids, not to mention family, aunties and aunty-figures who also give me a hand. I have a lot of help. I also have a lot of wine Because juggling a job and trying to be a good parent can be really hard.
And now that I’ve said it, let’s move on to how we can manage it and try to make working at home with children work for us.
I’m going to use this highly idealised photo of me and Little Nerd that was taken for an online magazine a few years ago to illustrate this. IT’S NOT LIKE THIS AT ALL NOW I HAVE TWO KIDS so this pic makes me laugh.
Work in nap times.
I know this is so obvious that it probably doesn’t need stating, but if your little one has nap time, you get your coffee and you work. Don’t procrastinate and do household tasks. I know it’s SO tempting to tidy up the house first, maybe dawdle a little, check Instagram… don’t. Look, I am a Virgo, and a procrastinating one at that. NO-ONE understands the NEED to have a neatly colour-coordinated sock drawer before addressing that urgent deadline due at 5pm more than me. It’s very tempting to have a perfectly tidied, clean house before you sit down to work and to get that done while the baby is asleep, but I have lost count of the number of times I have thought, “I’ll just tidy up the kitchen…” and you’ve only just settled into your desk chair and the baby rouses and it’s game over. I try to do as much ‘brainless’ stuff as I can (like cleaning and folding laundry) when the kids are awake.
If you have toddlers, give up on the idea that you can do your best focused, productive work while they are awake.
Look, I know some people can do it – I don’t know how – but personally I find it SUPER difficult to try to get any REALLY focused work while the kids are with me. I can’t write while someone is yapping in my ear. So I don’t. Little Nerd is 4, and not SO bad, but at one-and-a-half, Miss Nerd is definitely too young to understand. I very rarely try to work while I’m looking after them. They’re not happy, I end up snipping at them, I can’t give my all to my work either, and I hate myself for being a snappy parent. I only jump onto my computer while they’re awake if I absolutely HAVE to. I just give in to spending time with them and busying ourselves while they are awake.
Plus, I think you will get MUCH more done in one hour of truly focused time than you can in four hours of trying to work while the kids are clawing at you and you want to rip your hair out.
See if you can tag-team.
If your partner is also working from home, perhaps you can work out a routine so you each get focused time to work while the other distracts the kids.
Be nice to yourself.
“Be gentle to yourself”. “You are enough”. “You got this Mama”. Sometimes the clichéd Instagrammy affirmations make me vomit in my mouth a little, sometimes they make me burst into tears (this REALLY depends on what kind of week with the kids I’m having) but it is important to be kind to yourself, don’t stress the small stuff so much. When you’re upset, ask yourself, will this matter in a year? Probably not. You’ll have good days and bad days, but on the plus side, thousands of people are in the exact same boat as you.
Get outdoors and get fresh air every day – you and the kids.
Yes, even if it’s cold. (Although, we seem to be having the longest summer EVER in Perth, and it’s still not cold). This is the German side of me speaking. German people know the value of sun and fresh air, even when it’s freezing.
My mum, who hails from a tiny country town south of Bremen, always told me about how in Germany people bundle up the babies snug and warm in their prams and take them for a walk or just pop them out by the front door. “And at crèche, even when it’s cold, they put the thick jackets on and the boots and the hats on the kids, and they send them out to play in the woods,” my mum says sagely, and I’m like nodding enthusiastically about this slightly disconcerting woodland daycare: “YES, YES. PUT THE LITTLE BABIES IN THE WOODS.” Ok, I sound psychotic, but I am a freak about fresh air and some sun. It’s good for everyone, they’ll sleep better, you’ll sleep better and you’ll ALL feel better and less cabin-fever-y every day if you can get outside every day as much as you can.
I know I’m not the only one who often finds themselves having a bad day, but then you get outside in the fresh air and start moving and automatically you start to feel better. The staying at home rules have clamped down recently but at least in WA we are still allowed outside to walk the dog, run or ride bikes – make the most of it and do it every day, at least once a day. The moment you start you’ll feel so much better.
The kids were kindly gifted these amazing Globber scooters and as you can see they are a hit! They never need any encouragement to go outside. You can use the code word NERD for 15 percent off them from their site here.
Take care of your mental health.
Binge on Netflix. Do puzzles. Read. Work on projects around the house. Garden. Walk or run. Whatever it is you like to do that takes your mind off all your corona worries. Even juggling work at home, you can still ‘make the most of’ the time we’re having at home; and your mental wellbeing is paramount right now. If you have little kids at home and you’re still trying to juggle your own job, don’t stress too much about giving them this perfect, highly creative home schooling experience right now. I feel like there’s so much ‘social expectancy’ right now on often already-stressed out, anxious parents to be filling their kids’ days with all kinds of creative and fun and interesting educational activities while juggling their own jobs too. I’m impressed by people who can do it, but give yourself a break. All the kids will be fine.
A loose routine can be a good idea for your sanity – also, always try to start your day on a good note.
At this point I feel like I’m getting wary of sounding like another one of those people saying, “WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING WITH YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW” because we all have enough on our plates right now than to worry about what we “should” be doing (other than staying home as much as possible). You only need to heed this if you feel like you are struggling to manage the chaos of working from home with kids. I’ve always been one of those frenetic, “I MUST BE DOING THINGS, the house must be tidy or I’m going to scream” people and so for me ‘doing things’ is my way of feeling ok. It might not be yours and that’s ok.
You don’t need to have a super-strict routine in place (unless this suits you and you enjoy it). But getting into a loose routine can be a good idea and for me anyway, I’ve always found it eases some of my stress, because then I know when I can get my work done. Like these days, I KNOW that when the baby naps at about 11am I will be able to head to my desk and get some work done and I should have at least two hours of focused time, and that makes me feel more in control.
Also, try to set yourself up to win. Do little things all the time rather than letting them pile up too much. With my hubby away quite a lot for work I’m often on my own with the kids. When he’s away every night I clean up the kitchen and try to do a quick tidy up and wipe down before I go to bed – no matter how tired I am. I am NOT a morning person, so the idea of doing this in the morning, with the kids yapping at me, makes me even more grumpy. Plus, I’m slow and stupid first thing in the morning, much more likely to break my favourite mug as I’m packing it into the dishwasher – or my ‘mother elixir goblet’ (*cough wine glass*). Do a load of laundry every day. Every time you leave a room take one piece of random crap with you and put it away. Have them do their schoolwork at the kitchen bench while you clean up and talk to them at whatever time in the day. Look for these small things that you can do so you don’t feel like you’re losing your mind.
Remember the dog rule – a tired dog is a happy dog.
One of my mates (hi Gabby!) runs her own business from home and juggles this around two little boys. I still remember her telling me, when I was pregnant with Miss Nerd, that the trick to managing two little kids is to treat them like dogs. “You need to run them hard, TWICE A DAY.” “The playground twice a day?” I groaned. “Every day,” said Gabby sagely. At present, we can’t go to the playground, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t get them tired in the garden – send them off on their scooters or bikes, put on the sprinklers, have a scavenger hunt through the house and make them find things of different colours, put washi tape on the floor through the house and have them do an obstacle course around the house, or play a fun game where they climb onto and jump off their toy trunk 35 times while you shout, “AGAIN” like a deranged ringmaster (not that I’ve done that).
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Work off somatic anxiety.
If I’m trying to work but I’m finding in one of those edgy, anxious moods and not really getting any writing of substance done – I don’t fight it. I stop and do something else. Honestly, sometimes it’s just NOT going to work, you’re not going to be in the right headspace, sometimes everything I try to write is complete shit. Rather than trying to force it, take a break (if you can).
I either do ‘admin’ with my brainless time – I send out invoices or answer emails. Or I give up on work entirely and go for a run to clear my head or I clean up, do household tasks or start dinner – basically anything that keeps you busy so you get rid of that nervous tension. You can come back to it later – often I stop and return when the kids are in bed and I feel so much better. Or make the next day your clean start.
Eat well and keep exercising.
I know this is also obvious, but I have learned, the hard way (and several times, over and over… because I clearly don’t learn lessons the first time round) to prioritise my own health and fitness as a working parent. So many people prioritise the kids and I’m guilty of this too – for example, making them a healthy balanced meal then being so tired once they’re in bed you fall into the mistake of eating crap . But when you are healthy and mentally you’re in a good place, you can look after your kids better. YOU are number one.
My new painting from Gail Dell.
Resist the lure of the couch!
The kids are down, you’ve closed their bedroom doors and breathed a sigh of exhausted relief – now I know you’re tired and that it’s SO tempting to collapse on the couch and watch something mindless on Netflix while simultaneously scrolling and messaging friends, but once you do that, it’s going to be even harder to prise your butt off the couch and go to your desk. Trust me – I’ve made that mistake many, many times.
Don’t sit there! If you are really knackered, go to bed (I have to admit this is what my husband is always telling me, “Just go to bed! You can do it tomorrow when you’re fresh!”) but if you have some energy left and you know you could get a bit of your work done, you might feel better for it tomorrow. I know it’s not what we really want to be doing, but I often get a lot done at night when the kids are down. I used to do it a LOT when we only had one kid, but I find having two kids so much more exhausting than one, so I don’t as much any more (and I don’t really like to) but sometimes it’s the only way. You might only need to sacrifice a few nights in the week to make a dent in your work, and you can reward yourself the other nights with a Netflix binge.
To console your broken heart that really wants to be living its best iso life watching Tiger King and eating Twisties, make working at night as pleasurable as you can. Pour yourself a little wine, light a nice candle on your desk, or make yourself a cup of tea and get a chocolate-covered cookie from the secret place you’ve hidden them from your husband (please. Like I’m the only one who does this). It’s just like when you were a kid and it’s the weekend but you have a project due – you’ll feel so much better when it’s done, rather than it bugging you. Last night I knew I wouldn’t be able to work in the morning with the kids up, and I had a deadline this morning, so after the kids went to sleep, I worked til 11pm. Not what I wanted to do, ideally, but the other option would have been trying to do it in the morning with them both awake and annoying.
If your partner is also working from home, see if you can organise ‘shifts’ to swap childcare and work.
I long ago gave up on the idea of trying to get real, focused work done while I have a person under three awake and with me. Kids have a knack for just SENSING when you’re trying to do something important and will do whatever they can in their power to harangue you. I swear, I feel like mine could be happily playing some make believe game in their own little world for 40 minutes and I’ll think, “Ooh, maybe I’ll just quickly sit at my desk and sneak a little work in while they’re happy and engaged,” and the MOMENT I sit down, they both stop playing, the bigger one is asking some inane question like how many pockets does the moon have, the little one is clambering up onto my lap pretending she wants a cuddle while really she’s stealthily perma-deleting half my emails while I’m distracted by the big one asking me how many farts are in a cow’s bum.
Your kids might be old to start understanding why working, in peace, is important. I try to explain to our four year old the importance of Mummy and Daddy working because it gives us money. “Ooooh, for more toys?”
Get a police jacket.
My husband just last night told me about a colleague who now has to work from home. The kids bugged and interrupted him so much that he bought a police-uniform-like jacket. Then he informed the kids that when he was wearing the police jacket, he was doing very IMPORTANT work and he was NOT to be interrupted. Anyway, it worked. Now they tiptoe into his office, see him in the jacket and quietly walk out, I imagine in awed, respectful silence. GENIUS.
Also see if you can set up your home office in a space where you have a door. And a lock.
Scare them, bribe them, lie to them, whatever you need to do.
Currently, the Easter Bunny is my savior for encouraging good behavior. “Remember, the Easter Bunny is watching.”(The Easter Bunny is clearly like God, or Santa Claus).
I’ve also told Little Nerd that now he is doing school from home, his teacher has asked that I text her photos and tell her what we’ve been up to through the day. This is a lie, but he’s been very well-behaved (thank you Miss Whitehouse).
The other day he got stroppy when I asked him to put his jumper on for the fifth time and I sighed and picked up my phone and he shouted, aghast, “Don’t message that to Miss Whitehouse! I’ll put my jumper on!” I wasn’t texting Miss Whitehouse, I was planning to escape to Instagram, but I went with it and sighed, “Fiiiine. I won’t text her…. THIS TIME.”
Get your kids to pitch in with household and garden tasks.
I’m totally okay with sounding like a crazy slave driver. I know that sometimes kids do such a bad job of something, or take so long, or whinge so much about being asked to do something, that it’s easier to just think, “Ugh, I’ll just do it myself”. But I think if you can do your best to get them doing things, it will pay off in the long run. It will distract them in the meantime and one day they won’t be shit at it.
Make them do things around the house to help you out. Little Nerd is four and he is perfectly capable of helping me fold and put away laundry. If he wants to watch ABC Kids, he knows he has to pick up his toys, tidy his desk and maybe help me put away some laundry first. The other day his sister was napping and he kept complaining, “What can I DO? What can I DO?” Nothing I suggested appeased him and I was becoming more and more irritated until I suggested he cleaned the windows, which he enjoyed. Did he do a perfect, completely streak-free job? No. Were they still much cleaner than they were before he started and did he not bug me for a full 15 minutes? Yes. You have to count the little wins.
His little sister is 18 months and still useless, except for that one time she put her empty chip packet in the bin.
Try to keep TV as the ultimate bribe and distraction.
Ahhh, the electronic babysitter! My dear friend.
As much as I love the first few blissful minutes of uninterruption I get from turning on ABC Kids, Mr Nerd and I have always found that TV can be a slippery slope. With our two, the less TV they get, the less they ask and whinge for it. The more TV they get, the more it seems to sort of compound. You might get that initial peace and quiet while they’re watching, but after TV they are ALMOST ALWAYS EXTRA-ANNOYING, which is when I try to herd them outside again in the hope they’ll stop killing each other. I always weigh up the butthole factor – is it worth them watching TV so I can get something done, like meet my deadline or cook dinner on a stovetop without someone attached to my leg trying to bite me through my Lorna Janes? It often is. But to keep TV feeling like ‘a special treat’, don’t have it on all day; keep it as a lifeline so that when it’s on, they are GLUED to it, which will give you hopefully 20 minutes of focused time before they inevitably start annoying you again. Also, the rule is Little Nerd has to tidy up all his stuff if he wants to watch TV, which gives me one less thing to do. Crack that whip.
I feel like right now we all need TV, so use it and don’t feel guilty. No-one needs more parental guilt, especially now when lots of us already feel edgy!
Don’t forget! This is temporary.
It’s only a stage, and if you don’t ‘master’ working at home with kids (and I STILL haven’t after FIVE years!) – that’s ok, and normal. Even if it lasts for months, this stage is only a relatively short part of your life in the whole scheme of your life. It will pass.
I hope you’re all doing ok. Maya x

Muhammad Sani, a University of Maiduguri graduate, has mourned his late wife bitterly.
The young man took to his Facebook page to share a heartbreaking tribute to his wife, Hauwa, who died on Friday, September 7th, 2018, 16 days after she suffered a stillbirth.
Sani and Hauwa got married on 23rd December, 2017, after courting for eight months.
Read the man’s touching tribute below:
TRIBUTE TO MY LATE WIFE
Her names are Hauwa Muhammad (Mummy) I call her Baby or My wife my wife and she also call me Baby or My husband my husband
You were brief in my life. Everything about us was brief up to your last breath.
We got talking around January 2017 and we became best of friends. You taught me the meaning and value of friendship which made me amused with your way of life; so simple and charismatic in nature.
You were reserved but warm, very jovial and unassuming, sometimes one will lack the right words to define your attitude but above all you were very religious. You were an outstanding woman, very blunt on matters of advice and opinions. You always made good came out of every thing that came your way. You made me feel the beauty of love and care with you, worldly things were never your thing. The most amazing thing about you that I never got tired of were your smiles. They were so real you never faked them.
I remember vividly in April 2017, Aliyu & Aisha’s dinner @Nasfat Hotel in Minna, I asked you if you would marry me and you kept smiling without saying anything and you asked me why I had asked you that and I told you God created you just for me and you couldn’t stop smiling and that was how the beautiful secret relationship started.
During our relationship, you always texted me to let me know that you would call me but wouldn’t say anything cuz all You wished for was to just listen to my voice and that was exactly what you would do. Neither of us knew that our marriage would come up that soon. We just knew something good was coming to us but we never thought it would be our marriage considering we were only 8 months into our relationship.
A month to our wedding, every known persons were invited and they were a little bit awed by the fact that we were even in a relationship. They had thought it was an arranged marriage.
The funny thing about all that was neither of us were ready for marriage but all our pleas went unheard by our parents and of course we plan and Allah plans, and He is the best of planners. We prayed over it with good faith and with Allah by our side, everything went smoothly. We got married on 23rd December, 2017. Masha’Allah beautiful ceremony it was with so much beautiful smiles all over us.
The journey of our beautiful lifes began without any obstacles. Allah in his infinite mercy made everything easy for us. Alhamdulillah you came into my family and you were loved by all. No one ever criticized you, you were a typical example of lower your gaze that Islam teaches us. Alhamdulillah you were not just a wife to me but you were like a mother to me. You made sure I did things the right way. You were always not happy with me whenever I didn’t eat on time.
You never liked it whenever I told you I would be traveling. Jazakillah you always made sure I had what so ever I wanted. Jazakillah for always making my meals. Jazakillah for the congregation prayers we always did together.
Jazakillah for the care and so much love you gave me. Jazakillah for the recitation of Quran we did together. Jazakillah for everything you’ve done for me. Jazakillah you were my everything. Jazakillah you made your family members love me so much which I will forever be grateful to them. Alhamdulillah Allah made everything easy for you during the time of your pregnancy. You never for once had any pains they say women undergo during pregnancies “Allah is indeed Great.”
Sometimes I woke up in the middle of the night and the first thing I would see was you steering@ me and whenever I asked you why you weren’t sleeping, you would say you were not sleepy. So we would get up and perform ablution and pray Nafila together.
You had said you loved the way I eat, it made you want to eat with me all the time. But that faithful Friday 31st August, 2018 after Friday prayers “Ina lillahi wa ina ilaehi rajihun” when We had lost our Baby. You had given birth to her successfully even though it was a stillbirth and she was buried on Saturday morning. Since then life wasn’t the same for us again especially you.
The pain started. All efforts made by me, both our families and friends to make you feel better again went in vain because only you and the Almighty Allah knew the pain you were going through not what all of us had imagined because God decided to hide it from us. Only the Almighty Allah knew why. “Subuhanallah”
Even on your sick bed you would call me as early as 5am to wake me up for fajr Sallah.
Immediately I offered my prayers, I would come over to my family house to see you and all you would ask me was to come sit close you. You would always rest your head on my laps and made me just hold your fragile hands in mine. Even on your sick bed you kept praying to God to reward my Mum and stepmom for taking good care of you and how you wished you got better quickly so that they didn’t have to get tired of you.
You showed me so many signs that you were going but I never noticed because God took that knowledge away @ that time from me.
You would call me and sit me down just to ask for my forgiveness in any way you may have wronged me. It always broke my heart and I felt really sad and worried that you even thought of such things because at that moment wallahi it always sounded to me as if you were saying farewell but I did told you I had forgiven you even though I told you that you had not done anything wrong to me. You’ve always been the good wife to me. Every night I would leave you @ my family house, you always didn’t want me to go, you always insisted on me staying longer.
You always insisted on me praying for you before I went back home. You always insisted I bathed you because you said I bathed you better than anyone would.
A night before your death, you insisted that I backed you which I did and you insisted I prayed all over your body before I took my leave and that faithful Thursday night you insisted I shouldn’t go, I should stay and sleep beside you but I had to go back home.
Even with you being in pain, you still found time and strength to make people laugh. On Friday which was your last day with me in this life, you called me as early as 5am to wake me up for fajr prayer as you made it your daily routine and you told me to get up and pray which I immediately did. You also told me to get you a Zobo drink when coming to see you which I definitely did. It was when I got to the house to see you only to find you restless and breathing so difficultly, calling me to come closer and hold you tight. All I could hear from you was that you were tried and wanted to just sleep.
I couldn’t bear it anymore because you were breathing so hard that I could hear the way your heartbeat was pulling subhanallah. You kept telling me you wanted to sleep for a while and I said no we would go to the hospital, and you would get your sleep there. And that was my last conversation with you dear wife. I immediately rushed you to the hospital and when we got there, your condition became critical.
Friday September 7th, 2018 (28/12/1439AH) is the day I will never forget in my entire life. It was the day I understood what it felt like to have a patient struggling for life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The long stand, the long wait, and the hopes and all were just to see or hear a Doctor or Nurse tell me you would be fine.
But Sadly, the Doctors and Nurses words and whispers kept saying in the same rhythm and chorus, “Pray for her.” They called me and asked me to sit by your bed side and be calling your name and also be praying for you, maybe, just maybe you might hear me and would have woken up.
I wanted to cry so bad but the doctors told me not to, at least not in your presence. Just pray and she will be fine was all they kept telling me. I kept praying and you held my hand so tight and all I could see in your eyes were tears rolling down your face. You kept staring @ me but you couldn’t say anything anymore. The doctors kept telling me not to worry and that they were doing their best to save you. Before then, your pleas and appeals to everyone was always to put you in their prayers. Subhanallah What a coincidence! Could this mean that you had sensed you wouldn’t survive it? Subhanallah WaLLAHU Ah-alam.
No one had the slightest of idea that you were already bidding farewell to this sinful world.. You left this sinful world between 8:30pm and 9:00pm.
Ya-Allaah! We can’t question your will…
INNALILLAHI WAINA ILAIHI RAJIUN
INNALILLAHI WAINA ILAIHI RAJIUN
INNALILLAHI WAINA ILAIHI RAJIUN. Tears!!!
Kullu nafsi zaikatul maut!
Allah called you and you answered His call.
Allah called you because He’s pleased with you In Shaa Allah.
Only Allah knows why He decided to test me this way.
Ya Allah
Ya Gafur
Ya Rahman
Only He can give me the strength to bear this two lost @ the same time; my daughter and wife.
Kullu nafsi zaikatul maut.
We are all on our way, only Him knows when but it’s sooner than we expect.
I pray Allah be please with me also when he calls on me.
On behalf of my wife I wish to use this medium to ask anybody that my wife could have offended in any way knowingly or unknowingly to please forgive her and forgive me also in any wrongs we may have done to you.?
Ya Allah forgive my wife
Ya Allah forgive my wife
Ya Allah forgive my wife
Ya Allah grant her Jannatul Firdausi
Ya Allah grant her Jannatul Firdausi
Ya Allah grant her Jannatul Firdausi
Ya Allah make her my wife in Jannatul Firdausi
Ya Allah make her my wife again in Jannatul Firdausi
Ya Allah make her my senior wife in Jannatul Firdausi. Aameen
Ya Allah My heart is heavy.
I come home every day hoping you will open the door for me.
I come home every day hoping to see the food you’ve cooked.
I come home every day hoping to see you again.
I wake up every day hoping you will call me to ask what I want to eat.
I sit everyday hoping you will call my phone and tell me my husband come back home.
I weep every time I go home.
My heart is heavy to the extent I can’t feel the taste of anything on my tongue
INNALILLAHI WAINA ILAIHI RAJIUN.
Ya Allah see me through
Ya Allah Kara mani Imani
Ya Allah give me the strength and fortitude to bear this loss. Aameen

I got into a minor accident a couple of days ago and I did not have insurance. It was my parents' car and the damages have already been paid for from my personal savings. Now, I am going to get car insurance. The question here is if I want to get insured, do I have to report to car insurance companies of my accident? If yes, why? How would the company possibly know I got into an accident? Also, do insurance companies screen your driver's license? If so, how much more money per year can I expect to pay for 2 points on my license for an average 20 year old? If women are such horrible drivers, why are our insurance rates lower than men's rates?""
Will this progressive insurance claim raise my rates?
So I was driving along the turnpike here in Oklahoma the other day when I noticed a vibration I was pushing 70mph at the most in my 1998 ford ranger when i noticed this. my truck was valued by the claims adjuster at $5800 As the vibration continued I pulled over and slowed down right then I noticed and felt my tire tread from the rear drivers side fly out and do some damage to the bed the tire still had air in it but when i got out to look my tread had flown completely off along with some other truck pieces. The adjuster said more then likely the belt slipped or snapped or something along those lines the damage total was $2,695.00 less my $500.0 deductible the insurance will pay the remaining balance. it would have totaled out had the repair cost more the 50% of the value of the truck. Now my question will be tricky to answer because everyone has a different driving record I haven't filed a claim sense 2004 I hit a car ! guilty I have had speeding tickets but not sense 2007 I had one guy try and file a claim against me in 2008 he said i backed into him but he didn't carry insurance and had no proof and the claim was never paid out so I'm pretty sure my rates will go up come time for renewal I'm just trying to see by how much? can i call progressive would they tell me? do they even know???? I know that a lot of this depends on your claims trend. this is really the only claim I've filed in yrs and the 2nd one in 4 yrs with this company. that first claim never payed out either.. I'm a 26 yr old male if that helps any..... thanks everyone who contributes""
Car insurance question?
The other week, my dumb *** relative backed into my parked car. Essentially, he could of saved himself two grand if he bothered to turn and look like he was supposed to. My question and PLEASE only answer with relative/helpful information: If I don't use a rental during the time my vehicle gets repaired, will it lower his costs with his provider? Or will it not matter? I only ask because, though an idiot, is still family (plus his parents are being ******* cause their kid can do no wrong if you know what I mean). So if not using the rental will help with his rates/etc. let me know.""

Someone explain this auto insurance info please!!?
In Founders Insurance Company v. Munoz, decided on May 20, 2010, the Illinois Supreme Court considered the validity of an automobile insurance policy exclusion that precluded coverage for any person using the insured vehicle who did not have a reasonable belief that he or she was entitled to do so. The court concluded that the exclusion was not ambiguous, and that it was properly applied to exclude coverage for drivers who did not possess a valid drivers license, regardless of whether the driver was a named insured or a permissive user of the vehicle. The court reasoned that an average, ordinary, normal, reasonable person would understand that the exclusion applied to unlicensed drivers. The exclusion applied regardless of whether the driver had never obtained a license, or whether it had been suspended. The court held, as a matter of law, that an unlicensed driver could not have a reasonable belief that he or she was entitled to drive simply because he or she owned the vehicle or had been given the keys. can someone explain this in lamens terms please? ive had a similar situation happen to me and i would like to know how to go about handling this thank you!""

Estimate on how much my car insurance will be?
I'm financing a new (or relatively new) car pretty soon, it's probably going to be a Nissan Altima which is a very safe car and is probably going to be either brand new or no more than 1 - 3 years old. I'm just worried about how much I'm going to be paying for full coverage insurance because I haven't had a car in a couple years thus I haven't had car insurance in a while and when I did, it was only no-fault insurance. Also, I'm young (22) so that will make my insurance high. However, I have a spotless driving record so that should help. I also live in a safe county if that matters. Anyone have a ball-park figure on how much I can expect to be paying, monthly? Thanks.""

Car Insurance for driving test question?
Okay I'm a bit confused here so here it is: I'm taking my road driving test this January (I'm in TX BTW). One of the requirements is that I provide a car that has insurance. So my question is, does the insurance need to cover me as a driver as well? Or is it OK if the insurance covers the car and it's owner only (my friends' car) and it's only his name as the insured driver . I'm confused since he said I NEED to be covered by the car's insurance, but how can I be covered if I don't have the license yet (Insurance companies will only insure drivers with license) I tried calling the local DMV but you know what happens when you do... you are put on hold for the entire day. So can I just use his car (it is of course insured) or what? Or is this just another way of him saying You're not driving my car bud! haha. Thanks a lot!""

What's worse for a teens insurance a luxury car or sports car?
I've been wanting to get a civic for a first car so I thought maybe a 2000 civic si and then realized I liked the 7th gen civic coupes alot more so when I went to get an insurance quote every company is telling me its about $400 a month even on my dads insurance. Because I'm a second driver in the house I become the primary driver on the civic by default and I don't have a choice. The insurance company says that the si is a sports car for them and apparently has a high chance for teens to get wrecked in. The 7th gen that I'm talking about was an 02 civic si veloz and I was told a non si 03 civic coupe would still be in the late 300's /month for me. I'd be okay with 200's/month if possible. So now I'm thinking of going to Hondas luxury side. I did want a fully loaded civic which I guess isn't possible because they didnt come with leather seats so I thought I'd go team Acura late 90's/2000 1.6 el the car would be a fully loaded sedan, manual transmission, sohc engine (not exactly built for speed) it would also have an alarm system that the civic didn't. I don't think there are as many teen ricers in acuras since the aftermarket is limited for some things as not everything is swappable with civic parts. so for a new driver would it be any difference to go from a 2 door si to a 4 dour sedan with a base motor? the only thing is that the insurance would probably classify it as a luxury vehicle and say its expensive to repair and what not. your thoughts?""
