I can't write for the life of me, but I've just thought of a tasty soulmate-fic premise (romantic or platonic!):

When their eyes are closed, a soulmate can see what their other half sees.

Whether it's super clear, or just impressions, or perhaps the more one stares at something the clearer it gets, just imagine the potential.

Soulmates taking turns to close their eyes and communicate through notes to find eachother. Soulmates who know when the other's fallen asleep because it's completely dark on the other side. Soulmates who can't sleep because their other half is somewhere way too bright and have to write passive-aggressive notes asking if they could "please turn the lights down!" Soulmates who are bored and would rather watch the others everyday life, no matter how mundane. Soulmates who's friends and/or family make fun of them for zoning out to watch through their other halves eyes instead of paying attention.

And then, on the other hand? The angst potential is delicious-

Soulmates who are so desperate to stop their other half from knowing that they wear a blindfold, or straight up blind themselves, to prevent it. Soulmates who hate the thought of someone intruding on their private lives, whether they're meant to be together or not. Soulmates who have terrible home/work lives and hope against hope that their other half doesn't find out or worse. Soulmates who are abused or get into fights often, trying their damnedest to protect their eyes above all else. Soulmates who's eyes are damaged, accidentally or otherwise, terrified of the thought that their other half won't ever be able to find them.

There are so so many ways you can swing this:

One soulmate afraid that their other half had died, having never been able to see through their eyes. Their soulmate was born blind, and managed to see things they thought they never could/would thanks to their soulmate.

Soulmates that met during childhood, living their lives as a whole, using their connection for simple, silly, domestic reasons.

Familial soulmates! Twins who aren't quite psychic but know what the other is doing all of the time. Siblings who are stuck with eachother and pretend to hate it, but are secretly glad they'll always have the other. Found family where it feels like they've always had the other and are impossible to separate.

Long-distance soulmates, teaching eachother about where they were born/grew up, showing eachother things precious to eachother.

Daytime Vs Nighttime soulmates who are barely ever awake at the same time, treasuring those in-between moments.

Soulmates with nightmares, one waking up in a panic, blinking hard and trying to calm down as quickly as possible. The other getting glimpses of the aftermath as they blink, perhaps rushing to their side if they can, comforting their distressed soulmate.

College/University AU soulmates knowing too much about their other halves area of study. Writing eachother notes to go to bed or to eat when they both forget and stay up studying way too late.

Assassin/Spy AU soulmates, using their bond to complete their missions as effectively as possible. Or perhaps the assassin/spy's soulmate is their target. Especially tasty if you throw in undercover work.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?) He is very affectionate and incredibly warm, subtly in front of others, but almost boundlessly when you two are alone. In a dangerous situation, even if you’re not alone, he won’t hesitate, though, to hug you as tightly as he needs to in order to reassure both himself and you that everything is alright. Legolas shows affection in any way possible: hugs, kisses wherever he can reach, holding your hand or just having a hand on your back/shoulders in public, touching your hair, even in the way he looks at you it is obvious how smitten he is.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?) He would honestly be an amazing friend (canon!), loyal to a fault, protective, and even if paths of life take you away from each other, he’d always have love for you. It would start perhaps during an adventure of his? If not, maybe even in childhood. He really gives me lifelong friends vibes. 

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?) To be fair, he didn’t have many cuddle sessions in his life, so he’s not exactly completely used to them, but he will savor every opportunity to shower his beloved with love so… if that is your preferred way of showing affection, he totally has nothing against it! But it wouldn’t be his number one expression of love and physical closeness. However, he cannot and won’t say no to a cuddle session after a demanding day, and he is quite a big fan of being the little spoon or laying with his head on your chest as your fingers brush through his shiny hair. 

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?) He is a tidy person and he can clean his space decently well, but he cannot cook - a prince doesn’t exactly have to. If that is something you enjoy, he loves to hang around while you do it and he asks you questions, and offers to help, but he really isn’t too good at it. And regarding settling down, he is quite a youthful and restless spirit, but he is certain he wants to be where you are, no matter where it is. And if you’re willing to accompany him to random journeys and adventures and just be free together, he would be inexplicably happy. 

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?) not today :)  hope this helps!

I feel like elves would be very proper regarding those things, and he is a prince so it would be kind of expected of him to get married. Before falling for you, he wasn’t extremely keen on the idea, and he would have done it if necessary for the stability of his realm, but you turned his world upside down and he wants nothing more but to be yours forever. Honestly he would like being kind of a trophy husband?? And he is so proud of being with you so he would like to officially crown your love. “Quickly” is a very relative term when it comes to elves… but I feel like he would go for it as soon as you give him a hint that you might want the same. 

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?) VERY. Yes, he might be a super skilled warrior in many aspects, but when it comes to you, his touch is as light as a feather, and so are his lips against your skin, and his voice when he whispers words of adoration. I’d say that emotionally he’s really unproblematic, and attuned to his emotions, and he would be very careful with yours. Unless he’s having a really terrible day, then he might accidentally snap at you for nothing, but he regrets it in a millisecond; he’s still pretty young after all, and sometimes a random impulse will take over.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?) He likes hugs and they’re one of the surest ways to comfort him if something is bothering him. Legolas basically melts into your embrace. Maybe you’re the one who initiates it a bit more, but you know how dear they are to him and you know they’re something that makes him feel very loved. When he hugs you, he will try to shield you from the outside world as much as possible, which is really sweet. Also, his arms and shoulders are literally perfect so the hugs feel super nice.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?) Ahh, what is quick for elves?? I feel like he would fall in love gradually, but it would show in his actions and facial expressions, until he slips up during some sweet moment between the two of you. He almost scolds himself for not making it a more special moment, worthy of his favorite person, but you’re relishing in it either way, and the blush on his usually pale cheeks is a very nice bonus! 

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?) Legolas comes off as pretty confident, and he is, so jealousy isn’t an emotion that often plagues him. However, he is for sure slightly possessive (maybe it’s an elvish thing?), and what is his… is his. Deep down he is passionate, and he is feisty in his particular way, which sometimes comes out in the form of possessiveness too. 

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?) Gentle and plenty. He likes to kiss you everywhere he can, whenever he can, it’s one of his guilty pleasures. He wakes you up with a bunch of kisses all over your face, in public he often kisses your hand, but in private he might kiss each one of your fingers separately. Don’t even get me started on the neck kisses - he would never stop if he could. His sweet spots, which you discovered by accident but it was plain by the way that he inhaled, are right under his ear, and on the inside of his wrists. It is incredibly intimate, and something that only you will ever know and do.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?) He is confused, for sure, since he’s not really been around too many children in his long life. Unsure of what to do, he stammers when kids ask him questions because they’re, unsurprisingly, fascinated by him, and he looks to you for guidance. You think it’s kind of charming, he literally seems scared which is an unusual look on him. If you’re good with children, he has a huge admiration for it, and he would definitely be an amazing dad one day.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?) Legolas is quite high on energy, so I think he’d prefer more active mornings - even better if he can finish early whatever he needs to do for the day, so that later he can be all yours without distractions. But on other occasions he thinks you just look too enticing to be left alone at dawn… he can’t help himself but hang around a little bit more when you look so peaceful, smell so amazing, and have the most kissable soft skin in the world…

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?) He loves evenings and nights, especially clear and starry ones, he will never fail to be excited and it’s so cute. Legolas loves to go outside with you at night and stargaze, even though he might spend a solid amount of time gazing at you while you look at the brilliant sky. You have had so many long night walks also, and you have basically lost count. If the weather isn’t ideal, he will sit on the floor in front of you, while you’re on the bed, and have you braid his hair and tell you every single detail of his day (about the parts you weren’t around for), and then you’ll switch and he will braid your hair and listen to you.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?) I’d say he is pretty easy to read, even if his facial expressions are subtle, so you can often guess his feelings based on that alone. He wants to sometimes play the part of a handsome, mysterious prince, but all it takes is for you to rake your fingers through his flawless hair for him to confess to anything ever. 

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?) By you? Almost never. He will just get really upset if you found yourself alone in a very dangerous situation, and it could have been prevented. Generally he is also patient with others (he’s still royalty and needs to keep his behavior in check), until someone tries to mess with you, in whatever way. Then he doesn’t really care about politeness anymore.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?) His memory is impeccable, no matter how much or how little you talk. If you say something, he will listen AND remember. Perhaps, though, he is just a tiny bit spoiled and he will expect you to be like that as well, but secretly. 

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?) The first time the two of you went on some little journey alone. Whether it was just a one-day errand to check on something that happened in one area of the forest, or an entire visit to another kingdom, he treasures it so much. He likes to do things like that, and there is nothing better in all of Middle-earth than doing it with the person he loves more than anyone. At the same time it would activate his extra protective mode, but he would also be more free and unrestrained than he usually is, and it tugs on your heartstrings for sure.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?) Legolas is very protective and very quick to act. In his many years he has seen all kinds of horrors, and he knows how his mother’s death affected both him and his father, and he absolutely refuses to ever let anything bad happen to you, as much as it is in his power. First and foremost he physically protects you, but he is no stranger to speaking up for you if you need verbal defense. He really appreciates it when you sweep in if he’s having a boring conversation with someone and he is looking for a way out - although he’s friendly, he really hates dull conversations which are sometimes a given for a royal. So he’ll be forever grateful if you get him out of it. 

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?) Legolas firmly believes that you deserve the best of the best, every single day, but he can also get impatient while preparing something special for you, like having a piece of jewelry custom made. However, he still loves spoiling you and making you feel special, but he loves to feel spoiled as well. So both of you occasionally go all out and plan a special outing, or a dinner with the other’s favorite food, or just a little gift that is perfectly suited for the other person. 

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?) He can sometimes be a bit impulsive and rash in using his words, and is quick to hit someone with a witty answer, which can end up being unnecessarily rude… but he is really growing out of it. He also gets very easily carried away in talking about something that he is passionate about, but you find it way more endearing than annoying. 

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?) Quite - have you seen him? But he is convinced he looks best when you help him pick out clothes, and especially when you braid his hair. He is also happy if the two of you match your clothes even in a very subtle way, but it shows your bond in a nice way.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?) Before falling in love with you, his answer would be no - he had a pretty decent life… however, he always felt a constant desire to keep searching for something, not knowing exactly what it is, but like something was missing from his life.. Lo and behold, when you two got together,  that feeling disappeared.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.) He is fascinated by snow and thinks it’s really beautiful, and he doesn’t get to see much of it, so his fascination grows. 

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?) Someone who doesn’t have appreciation for smaller joys in life! Like, how can you not be absolutely amazed by those trees or these butterflies or that sunset from the other day! There is so much to love and marvel at in this world, and he will take any opportunity to do so, but he wants to share that feeling with his partner.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?) Doesn’t really need sleep, doesn’t sleep much, but he will let himself go a little bit if you happen to be cuddling him.

Dust off your Highest Hopes - Part 2

Summary:

Eavesdroppers never hear anything good about themselves, goes the idiom. 

When Solana hears an admission from the High Lord of Day, she’s ill-prepared for it. She doesn’t believe in fairytales any longer, but maybe there was a happily ever after for Solana and Helion somewhere.

Warnings:

Mention of Rape, Mention of Domestic Violence. It's all in the past, it's non graphic, but Solana is still dealing with it.

Contrary to popular belief, Helion Spell-Cleaver, High Lord of the Day Court, was actually quite picky about who he took to bed. 

It probably came as a shock to many, because tales of his virility and pursuits had been spread far and wide…and oftentimes embellished beyond recognition. He didn’t even want to know what the librarians in a few thousand years would make out of him. 

He had his own set of rules for it as well. As often as possible, nobody from his own court, because that never ended well. No female that had the kind of scheming and social climbing mother that would make sure that an accidental pregnancy was going to happen one way or another. If the person he was interested in had a spouse, then only if the spouse was interested as well. (Mostly because he was just not interested in the kind of jealousy-induced displays that could result in.)

And regardless of what many people thought…He did not actually bed a new person each night. Or even each week or each month. 

And there was a reason why he did it in the first place. 

He had the tragic habit of falling for Females that were completely and utterly unavailable to him. 

Amara had been the first. 

His mate. 

Just that by the time the Mating Bond had snapped…Amara had already been the Lady of Autumn. Had already had 6 sons from her High Lord husband. 

If there was something like tragedy, then this had been it. 

They had both known that it was impossible. That there was no chance for them. Not in this world. 

There had only been one night. One stolen night that they had…spent together. One stolen night, where he had kissed her forehead and then let her go. The son he hadn’t known he had, had been the result of that. 

Just a couple of years later…seemingly in the blink of an eyes…Helion’s brother Castor’s Mating Bond had snapped. 

Solana Mousav as she had been then, had been 19, fresh-faced and wide-eyed. So young. So innocent. Not married. No High Lord husband hanging over her head. No. She had stars glittering in her eyes and had stared at his brother in stark adoration. 

Everything Helion had ever wanted…Castor had gotten it. He had gotten this absolute gift of a mating bond to a girl who had loved him from the first time she had seen him. Who had adored him. 

The daughter of one of their father‘s councilmembers, high enough in rank that she could have made an easily accepted wife, even without the Mating Bond. 

Castor had hit the lottery with her. 

And then spent nearly three centuries kicking that gift he had been given with his feet. 

Helion hadn’t been able to stomach watching it. 

Not because of how he treated Solana but because he was unspeakably jealous.

Castor had gotten his mate, his wife, and had never needed to worry about anybody not accepting her or their bond. 

And Helion…Helion didn’t. 

So while his brother stayed near their father, Helion had filled his days with everything but that. They were fresh off a war…they were…he helped rebuild their fighting forces, he researched and he aided and he did everything so that he didn’t need to come home. 

Didn’t need to watch Castor and Solana be gloriously happy. 

Still, he was the recipient of many, many care packages from Solana, filled with sweets and books and the subtle scent of roses and orange blossoms. Small notes from her, impersonal but friendly. 

He had been a fool. He hadn’t even entertained the thought that Castor would lay a hand on her in anger…until he had been home in Odeira, they were supposed to attend a symphony performance that evening and he had walked in on his brother and Solana, his brother’s hand yanking her arm so harshly that he knew that purple bruises would spread over her skin, while his other hand had been groping her chest, her dress ripped apart. 

Her cheeks had been burning with her shame, her eyes downcast when she had realised that he had seen that. 

He would always give himself the fault for not killing Castor then and there.

Helion could have spared Solana another century of pain.

But he hadn’t. He hadn‘t. He had broken Castor‘s arm and threatened him to treat his wife properly. That had been that. 

And in his incredible wisdom, Helion had thought that this would be enough. That Castor would behave himself. Apologise to Solana. Beg on his fucking knees for her forgiveness and never do anything like this again. 

It wasn’t enough. 

He had never asked Solana what price she had paid for his stupidity. He wasn’t sure if he could stomach it. 

And then fucking Amarantha had happened. It had ended with both of his parents dead and him High Lord…

And then Amarantha had killed Castor. Nearly an afterthought. 

Maybe she had thought that Helion would be easier to control than his brother. He hadn’t done anything…Had been unable to do anything in that godforsaken mountain…anything but grasp Solana, and hold her back from trying to save her mate. He had known that that would simply end in Solana's death too. 

And he couldn’t have her die as well. 

Still, Helion would never forget that scream of anguish that broke out of her throat as Castor’s head rolled over the floor towards her. 

Would never forget that feeling of the glamours on her body snapping…as the male that had cast them had died. 

The bruises that had painted her skin for the world to see. 

Layers upon layers of them onto her skin. He had been shocked that she had been able to still walk and talk normally…that nothing had seemed amiss from the surface. 

Only then it had become clear to him, what exactly his brother had spent centuries doing to his mate. 

And what the court had watched and let happen. 

One of the first things he had done…the only thing he still could…was to try and get Solana out from under the mountain as long and as quickly as he could have. It had cost him dearly, but he would have paid every price for it. And so Solana settled back in Odeira, sending him notes about her progress there…always spelt that they would only show up for his eyes, that they would disappear as soon as he had read them, whenever Amarantha had requested his presence under the mountain. 

He had handed her the keys to his Kingdom. And Solana had kept it as safe as she could, cradled in her hands. 

The Day Court owed her a debt for it. Helion owed her for this. 

And so maybe it shouldn’t have surprised him. 

Falling for Amara had been immediate, blinding. 

Solana…she had slipped up on him. Slipped up on him, because she had twisted and changed as soon as his brother’s head had rolled over that ground. Slowly, carefully…like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. 

She had been Castor’s widow for a good twenty years and then…one day…she had showed up for breakfast in a light lavender dress. 

No more black that leeched every bit of colour from her tawny skin. Back where the coloured dresses. Gold earrings had decorated her lobes. Sun shaped. Showing everybody where she belonged to. 

And somehow…somehow that had given his feelings permission to flourish like a plant after a decade-long drought. 

Somehow that had made him want her…desperately. 

Solana was…magnificent. 

There was no other word for it. 

The pulsing heart of the Day Court safely ensconced in Sunray Palace. The court that she kept running, regardless of what happened. 

And then Amarantha had died and he had come home for good and she had smiled at him, as she dropped into a picture-perfect curtsy… Welcome Home, High Lord. 

And that had been that. 

Working closer together with her, letting her deal with the expectations of the Court, with the nobles, with the servants, with the palace…

Everything the Lady of the Court did…Solana caught it and did it herself.

 It was just the two of them, every other member of their family dead. 

Just them. 

And she had bitten her teeth into it all, and not let go. He had always been able to trust her. Trust that his court was in the very best of hands…trust that she was loyal to him and nobody else. 

Regardless of what happened…she had taken it all in stride. 

Helion could trust her with anything and be sure that Solana would do everything in her power to make it better. 

She had sat through many of these first few meetings with Lucien after everything had gone down in the Autumn Court…smoothing over the edges for both of them, pushing them together until…

The fact that Lucien and Elain had made their home in the Day Court…he owed that to Solana. To Solana and her sweetness and kindness and her ability to stay flawlessly polite through anything.  She had befriended Elain easily and Lucien appreciated her wit and candor. 

A million and one things she did and somehow Solana did it all with the same easy grace. 

How could any other female even start to compare to that? 

“Good Morning!" Elain pulled him out of his near-daily thoughts that always came to the same conclusion: Regardless of what feelings he had for Solana…she should never find out. 

“Good Morning,” he gave back, just as Elain slapped down a whole stack of leather-bound books next to her plate as Lucien pulled out a chair for her. 

“Accounts?” Helion asked with a nod to the books and Elain nodded. 

“Yes. I am supposed to figure out where to “cut the fat”, so to speak,” Elain said brightly. 

It was a well-thought-out job for the daughter of a merchant. “Ah. Solana?” Helion asked, already knowing the answer and Elain bobbled her head into another nod, a bright smile on her face as Helion poured tea into her cup. 

“Yes, I am having a meeting with the Steward about this later today…” Elain said. “I have some ideas…though I don’t think he’s actually taking me seriously,” she mumbled, faltering into her enthusiasm. 

Helion sighed. “Oh, he’s probably not, but it’s not about you personally,” he assured her. “Most of the servants tend to be… overly protective about Solana.” 

Not that he could fault them for that. Not after Castor. 

Though it had taken on an even worse edge, after that incident they had a year ago that had involved Kallias’ younger brother and Solana’s mother conspiring to try and get Solana married off. Again.  

Helion was still pissed off that he hadn’t gotten to run his sword through Khion’s throat, for the bruises that had painted Solana’s skin once again. 

Still, they couldn’t let that out on Elain. Especially not because he knew that Elain wouldn’t ever do anything to Solana. Had been nothing but respectful of Solana’s place in this court. 

“Have you talked to Solana? Make sure that your orders don’t go against hers.  She wouldn’t care, but the servants will,” Helion advised, as he buttered his bread. “Make sure the two of you are on the same page and they’ll be quicker to accept you.”

“I’ll catch up with her today. She was going to meet with some artisans about new porcelain and I got invited!” Elain said brightly, before growing seriously. “Solana is making this as easy for me as it could be. I really appreciate that.” 

“She’s the best,” Helion said easily. 

She was. There was no question about it. 

And still, the question Lucien posed next made him freeze with his slice of toast suspended midway between his plate and his mouth: “Are you aware that you are in love with her?” 

“What?” Was it that obvious? It shouldn’t be that obvious. He didn’t want Solana to have to deal with even more gossip about herself. That wouldn’t be fair. 

It was his secret to carry…the weight on his shoulders. And he would take it to his grave. She should never find out what he was feeling. 

The toast hit his plate, and his stomach suddenly felt like ash. 

 “Are you still stuck in denial?” Lucien demanded, a smile playing around the corners of his mouth. “Or are you in the *She’s my best friend and she’s the one thing that is keeping this court running and the servants adore her and we attend symphony performances together and we walk in the garden and my Pegasus loves her but it’s all totally platonic*phase?”

Solana was his best friend. Solana was the one that was keeping the Day Court running…The servants did adore her. Helion loved attending symphony performances with her because Solana loved music. And they walked in the garden, her hand in the crook of his elbow and she talked to him about everything and nothing, about all the gossip that she had snapped up and everything she was planning to do in their court and that was…

Meallan adored her, too. As did Clodagh, his mate…and Helion had been on more than one occasion jealous of his bloody Pegasus because he had gotten more attention than him from Solana. 

Still. He hadn’t thought that anybody else…anybody else would pick up on it. Not in a…different way than Helion doting on the only family he had left…on his sister-in-law because that’s what she was, right? She was his brother’s mate, even when Castor was dead. 

But alone to let Castor keep that claim about her…when Helion had seen what he had done to Solana…it was making him furious. 

“Be nice, Lucien,” Elain said pointedly. “We talked about this.” She glared at Lucien, who pointedly looked towards the ceiling in response. 

What?

“You talked about this,” Helion repeated. What?

“Of course, we did,” Elain agreed immediately. “I spent nearly a month thinking Solana was your mistress until Lucien told me otherwise,” she pointed out reasonably. 

Alone these words in connection to Solana made him fucking furious. It wasn’t Elain’s fault, he couldn’t fault her for this. She didn’t know the full story, she didn’t know everything that had gone on in the last…oh, around 300-odd years? 

Still. 

“I would never do that to her,” Helion spat out. “This whole Court has failed her once already. I have failed her once. I will not be part of a second time.”

No. He would rather never have Solana at all than to put her into a position like that…treat her that disrespectfully.

“Is that why the servants are that protective?” Lucien asked him, cocking his head to the side. Even Lucien didn’t know everything. Didn’t know how bad things had been between Castor and Solana…didn’t know about all the bruises that had littered her skin…

And Helion often wondered if the bruises had been everything he had done to her. Somehow Helion doubted it. Somehow Helion thought that it probably had been even worse. 

“They couldn’t protect her against my brother. But they will protect her against any perceived threat on my part,” Helion answered, dark amusement colouring his voice. The servants did everything in their power to make it easier for her. Just as they should. They were overprotective over her, and Helion appreciated that more than he could possibly say. “They’ll choose her over me in a heartbeat. The Day Court needs Solana. I can be replaced. She can’t be.”

If he died, the magic would choose a new High Lord. If Solana died…the carefully oiled wheels that kept the Day Court up and running would collapse, he was sure. 

“You haven’t answered the question,” Lucien pointed out at that moment, mustering him with his eyes…one brown, one golden and mechanical…

It wasn’t even a question. Not really. Not a question that he needed to think about the answer at least. 

“Of course, I am in love with Solana,” Helion said quietly. 

He was very much aware of that.

 He wasn’t in denial. 

“Then why don’t you do anything about it?” Lucien asked him drily. 

“Because I am never going to put Solana into a position where she thinks that she…she is required to return my affections,” he spat out. 

And she would think that. 

If he went to her and he admitted his undying love to her…He knew that Solana was not going to turn him down. For numerous reasons. 

She was her mother’s daughter, she was smart and self-protective enough that she knew exactly how badly it could go for her if she turned down the personal attention of a High Lord. So regardless of what Solana felt for him, alone for that reason, she wasn’t going to turn him down. 

And then add to that the fact that Solana was too sweet and kind for her own good and would probably not want to hurt him by turning him down and so she would agree and suffer in silence so that Helion wasn’t going to be hurt. 

And probably the biggest part of it…Solana had been treated absolutely abhorrently by Helion’s brother. She probably was absolutely terrified that it turned out that he had just as bad a temper as Castor had had. 

Regardless of how he would tell her…all of that would make it impossible for her to make a true decision that wasn’t coloured by fear for herself and her own life. 

It wasn’t fair. 

“She wouldn’t think that!” Elain protested but Helion held up a hand, brokering no argument. 

“Yes, she would,” he agreed. “With her past…that’s exactly what she would think,” he said, his voice turning weak. “And I would rather never have her at all, only have her as a friend, than to have her think even for one moment that I would force her into anything that she doesn’t want.”

Both Elain and Lucien were quiet at that. 

“Solana made her choice centuries ago,” Elain said calmly. “Did you know that you are the reason why she never even entertains the idea of a second husband?  Because then her loyalty would be split between her husband and you and she doesn’t want that. She has admitted that to me,” Elain pointed out carefully.  

“Be that as it may…” he started but Lucien interrupted him. 

“No,” Lucien said drily. “ Look, we just want you to be happy. You and Solana, because she has been nothing but lovely to both of us, ever since we met her. So just talk to her. You two never have a problem to talk to each other. Just talk to her,” Lucien implored. 

He gritted his teeth.  

“Please,” Lucien added pointedly, waiting until Helion looked at him. “Da. Talk to her.”

“You are playing dirty,” Helion pointed out, crossing his arms. Lucien never called him that. But now Lucien was just grinning at him, looking more carefree than Helion had ever seen him.  

“If it’s working, it’s worth it,” he said with a shrug.

“She won’t refuse you,” Elain added. “And not because she doesn’t think she can, but because she loves you too.” 

It was a much-needed vote of confidence because Helion highly doubted it. Solana treated him with the same kindness she reserved for everybody. But she wasn’t in love with him. Right? 

“Can you see the future now?” he asked Elain with a sigh, immediately regretting his words, but she just grinned at him.  

“I am a Seer,” she pointed out.  “Though I do not need any cauldron-given gifts to know that she loves you,” she said with a shrug. “Though…I may had a vision.”

“What kind of vision?” he couldn’t help but ask. 

“A vision that only could come true if you talk to her,” Elain said easily. “And next Summer Solstice could be quite interesting.”

Summer Solstice was two months off. 

It was making him wonder…making him wonder what exactly Elain had seen. 

Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, was marked with a…renewal ritual. 

Sex. It was marked with a Sex ritual. 

The Spring Court had Calamai…the Day Court had Summer Solstice. 

He swallowed. If Elain had seen something about Summer Solstice that had involved him and Solana…

“I’ll talk to her,” he promised, even when alone the thought of that was making him shake with nerves. Later. 

After he had spent a good hour or so petting Meallan and telling him all about his plight. Why where Pegasi easier than people? 

(Probably because regardless of how often Meallan stared at him like Helion was an idiot, he never outright said that.) 

So if he blew off a meeting he was supposed to be having and instead handed it off to his second in command…nobody needed to know. 

Well, Solana would know. Solana would find out and would be annoyed at him, and it would amuse him and then she would get even more annoyed. Her dark brown curls had the charming habit of wildly standing off her head the more annoyed she got. 

Sometimes he did it on purpose just because of that. 

He made his way up the tower towards the Pegasi stable, trying to gather his thoughts. Though he did make a quick detour to the kitchen to procure some fresh carrots for Meallan and Clodagh. 

He was not above some well-meant bribery if that meant that Clodagh was going to let him near enough to her that he could check on her foal.

To his surprise, he found a whole gaggle of long-suffering grooms in front of Meallan and Clodagh’s pen. 

“High Lord!” One of them squeaked out and Helion raised an eyebrow in amusement before he suddenly realised what exactly had brought them there: A near opaque, golden shimmery film that covered the door to their pen. 

He immediately recognised the handiwork. 

In another world, Helion thought, Solana could have been brilliant at Spell-Crafting. 

In this one, it was a hobby for her of sorts. Something she dabbled in…nothing that even she took seriously. Little practical little spells that made the life of the servants in the Sunray Palace easier. 

Until it was…this.

He swallowed. 

He knew what it was…Solana had laid it months ago. A promise to Clodagh that whenever her foal was going to be born, nobody would bother her unless it was Helion and Solana. 

It was the work of a moment for him to lay a hand on the door and have the film subside, much to the awed gasp of one groom.

Easy enough to push open that door, step inside and then…

He wasn’t quite sure what he had expected. It probably wasn’t Meallan’s teeth coming precariously close to his chest as the stallion grabbed his shirt and then tugged him forward hurriedly. 

Only then…only then he saw Clodagh laying in the straw, a tiny perfect black foal next to her…and right there nestled between them, Solana, who was crying her eyes out like somebody had just died. 

Meallan fixed him with a look. Fix this. NOW. He seemed to demand before he headbutted Helion in their direction with a glare. 

He had never seen her cry like that before. Not even when Castor had died. Even when her husband had died, Solana had somehow managed to pull herself together into some resemblance of order. 

There was nothing orderly about her now. Her hair was in complete disarray, the dress she wore was covered in straw and her face was red and splotchy, thanks to the crying fit she had been having. 

A crying fit for which he didn’t know the reason. 

The situation must have truly been dire if it had brought Solana to tears like that. 

“Solana?” he said softly, making her aware of his presence as he carefully kneeled down next to her. Clodagh was mustering him sternly, like clearly all of this was his fault and was still nuzzling Solana, who just clung tighter to the white mare.  “What’s wrong, Sunshine?” Helion asked, using his pet name for her. “What happened?”

“Nothing happened,” she whimpered, burying her face against Clodagh’s neck. 

“Then why are you crying?” Helion gave back gently, reaching out to draw a hand down her back. He could feel every single vertebra of her spine, the shudder that worked its way through her body with every sob…the heat of her body through the thin layer of silk. 

“I am sorry,” she sobbed and he couldn’t help but flinch. 

“Gods, Solana, you don’t need to apologise,” he said hoarsely. For what could she possibly apologise? She had done nothing. Absolutely nothing. Absolutely nothing but everything he needed, his court needed. “Tell me what happened?” he requested again, gently rubbing her back, desperation bleeding into his voice. “We’ll make it right,” he promised her fiercely.   “It’s us. We can make everything right.”

“I…” she tried to bring out the words, but another sob took over her frame. 

He shushed her softly. “It’s alright,” he soothed her. “Take your time. What’s wrong, sunshine?”

“I heard you.”

I’m back Michie girlies and this has been on the dome for a while but I’ve been seeing people mention it and at least one fic has executed this idea (“I once was his tutor” I salute you 🫡) but I need to just present this idea anyways because it has COOKED for a while-

I think it would be absolutely fucking hilarious if Max had started treating Richie the way he did Grace. Like the whole, dumb himbo act where he laughs real hard at non-jokes and tries to rizz Richie up as he’s going to class.

In my head- this is connected to the “Richie tutors Max” universe, so in my mind- Richies been helping him out and he’s been getting to know the guy, Max either: 1) eventually realizes how much of a capital P Prude Grace is OR (the funnier option I think) 2) Grace, in her want to get thoughts of Max Jäegerman out of her head, goes so far in the opposite direction that she somehow accidentally sleeps with a woman and is no longer “forbidden fruit” as Max puts it. (Insert side story of Grace battling internalized homophobia as she developed a friends-with-benefits turned maybe actual relationship with…. idk Deb or Alice or someone.) Cue Max looking at Richie and being like “I can totally seduce this nerd, my skills aren’t lacking just because I couldn’t get Grace.. this is 100% not me subconsciously really liking the dude and wanting to genuinely date him and knowing no other way to outwardly express this”

ANYWAYS- point is I need Max to try to flirt with Richie in that himbo way that he did with Grace-and I need Richie “This projects on thermodynamics… what the fuck are you talking about???” Lipshitz to just be constantly confused on what’s happening to him.

AND THEN when he finally realizes that Max is trying to get with him, I need Mr. Richie “has definitely never been with or slept with anyone and is just as unhinged and horny as Ruth (need I remind you she said Stephanie was the object of both their sexual fantasies)” Lipshitz to look at Max, really debate over it, before going “I may not have standards but I, unfortunately, have morals” and that he couldn’t do anything with Max since he was… well…his and his friends bully for years.

Boom, kick start the redemption arc that starts with Max just wanting to sleep with Richie but shifts to genuinely wanting to date him and trying to open up/clean up his act.

(Also- to add to that ‘“Dirty Girl Soup” Richie version’ concept that I’ve seen somewhere- I think it would be so fucking funny if Max’s equivalent to this, scandalous, forbidden, sexual fantasy was just Richie being the most supportive, understanding and healthiest boyfriend ever. Just accidentally fantasizing them in the most domestic situation ever (you know, because it goes against his Literal Monster persona). Like Richie’s, i don’t fucking know, holding his hand as they get coffee together and is just so understanding and calming when Max attempts to bully this fantasy Richie, and Max-who is just swimming in toxic masculinity (but is super ok in knowing he’s bi. As people say- he’s an actual asshole but he will bully you using your correct pronouns damnit)- is just like “NO, what are these feelings??? Why do I feel like this??? Post 07x03, Hen struggles to process the cruise ship rescue and drunk driver call in the midst of ongoing tension with her friends. In which Hen gets the apologies she deserves and gets to vent her frustrations, whilst also self examining her own actions. Fantastic crunchy characterisation.

time will tell by @bekkachaos '5 times Hen and Karen suspect Buck might not be one hundred percent straight, and 1 time they realise they were so damn right. aka., Henren knows and they occasionally speculate about Buck, and Eddie, and now, Tommy.' This was such a great Tommy POV from 7x03-7x04, charting his feelings from the moment Chim calls him to ask for his help with the cruise ship search, through to the kiss. I really enjoyed the whole ensemble camaraderie of this fic, Tommy's perspective on Hen, as well as the lovely moments where we see all the ways Buck just being Buck is charming to Tommy. So enjoyable.

Meanwhile Eddie is PINING, and Maddie is feeling some kind of way about it all. I just really enjoyed the maturity of the dating within these parameters, and the complicated feelings along the way.

treat your mouth as if it's heaven's gate by @bucktheally this is the fourth part in an bucktommy alternative meeting bright as the morning, soft as the rain series in which Tommy was never part of the 118, but can also be read standalone. Look this instalment of the fic got me totally enchanted the moment that Buck set himself up with his laptop 'intent on Wikipedia’ing himself into the queer community in-between naps.' Perfect characterisation. No notes. The fic is sexy, sweet, and I love the development of their relationship set up from this initial premise. Buck just loves to learn!

Won't Be Long Before I Belong by @justaswampdemon a post madney wedding coda fic in which Buck accidentally comes out via soot and Tommy meets everyone. Sweet, tender, gentle and caring.

Just had this come to mind but—he'd sniff your used towels. One of my absolute favorite Japanese actors Hio Miyazawa (from His the movie) has the lead in this movie adaptation of Makoto Takayama’s autobiographical novel Egoist. He’ll be opposite super famous actor Ryohei Suzuki.

Our Dining Table AKA Bokura no Shokutaku - Mira Ori's BLOVED manga (especially be me) is getting an adaptation (HOPEFULLY THIS YEAR)! Lonely salaryman (talented cook) gets accidentally adopted by a college kid and his baby brother. They build a family together. This is a sweetly gentle and cozy manga and it will make a GREAT live action piece. I’ve recommended the manga in the past to anyone who likes BLs like Ingredients, To My Star, What Did You Eat Yesterday? and I think we are in for similar gay domesticity to Old Fashion Cupcake with this adaptation YAY!

My Beautiful Man Eternal AKA Utsukushii Kare 2 - trailer I’m very nervous, I think this series stands alone and is perfect as it already is. I’m worried Japan is over egging the pudding. More here.

Bump Up Business (OnlyOneOf) - (Idol Romance) Announcement  More gossip. Depicts the tickling love story between a trainee who is about to debut and a celebrity from the same agency. Kpop boy group OnlyOneOf has collectively signed up to be in this idol-based BL. They’ve been auditioning for this since Libido IMHO. You can watch me chronicle their BL MV series in this post. Idol Romance will do sad but can do good kisses (Wish You, Nobleman Ryu, Once Again, Kissable Lips, Poongduck 304, Tasty Florida, Tinted With You). More info here. 

Blueming 2 - likely to air on iQIYI This was one of my favorites from 2022 year (9/10). I’m not thrilled about a 2nd season. It’s the same director as TMS2, and I didn’t like that one all that much. Still, I’m always intersted in where Korea goes when it’s given enough rope to hang itself.

Comfort the Boy - Premiere postponed indefinitely due to actor contract conflict, rated R15+ due to topic & vulgarity. Adaptation of Dongmul's manwha A Shoulder to Cry On, high school set, features a teasing confident gay, and a rich/poor pairing, about homophobia/gossip putting a scholarship in jeopardy. Was to stars idols Jaehan & Yechan BOTH from Kpop group OMEGA X. But given the crisis in management with that group, I think this is unlikely to happen, at least with this pair.

Be Mine SuperStar (JaFirst) - Filming started Dec 2022 Third-year film student Punn (Ja) gets an internship on the set of a drama. He’s come there to learn from professionals, but what lights his passion even more than the work is leading man Achi, beloved of the nation. Adapted from the novel “The Superstar and the Puppy on Set” (พี่พระเอกกับเด็กหมาในกอง) by Orpheus, the show has an ensemble cast comprising Ben (2moons2), Bosston (UWMA, Between Us), Jo (War of Y, My Roommate, Make It Right 2), Kokliang and (TharnType, Even Sun).

Be My Favorite AKA You Are My Favorite (GMMTV) YouTube - Adapted from a JittiRain y-novel (2gether) one of those rewrite the past to change the future. Another timeslip? (That’s at least 5 from Thailand in 2022). Trailer features classic tropes: elevator, rooftop assignation, lie on ground. Stars Krist (SOTUS) + Mike Gawin. Who knew Krist would do a BL again? Like seriously? 

Bed Friend (Domundi probably for Viki) - Adapted from a Y-novel (same setting as Middleman’s Love) about Uea (reserved and shy and hates players) and King (a big time flirt) who work in the same office and share a best friend. Despite the fact that they don’t really like each other they end up in bed together. This pair was originally supposed to be just side dishes for Middle Love, but it seems they got their own series. Not sure if this is a lesson learned from Why R U?, a lockdown necessity, a shifting to an En of Love model, or if NetJames did so well in rehearsal they earned their own series. They are crazy beautiful together. I think Domundi will use these two to bring higher heat, just like they did with FighterTutor. This series could be good especially as it is based on a book so hopefully it has PLOT. James was Gui’s best friend in Oxygen and one of my top picks at the time to get his own BL. Net was an established actor prior to BL. I am VERY excited about this pair

Cafe In Love - When his coffee shop close, he tries everything to get it to reopen and falls in love along the way. New Thai pulp, stars the actor who played Noh’s best friend Ohm in Love Sick 2.

Cherry Magic (Thai remake w/ TayNew) GMMTV YouTube - no one asked for this 

Cinderella Boys (Cloth Lab) - production house brought us Restated (which I never watched) and never got EngSub.

City of Stars AKA Fueangnakorn - An actor falls in love with a programmer and the narrative intends to “explore the ramifications of being public figure in the social network era who must endure critics, bullying, and defamation.” Looks like another Lovely Writer / Call It What You Want sort of thing.

Cooking Crush (OffGun) GMMTV YouTube - Prem, Dynamite, and Samsi run a not-so-popular restaurant. With heavy losses, the trio find out about a cooking competition with a huge reward that could help their business. However, preparations go awry, and Prem decides to back out when he meets Ten, a medical student under a heavy stress burden. Ten approaches prem to teach him cooking, and Prem uses this as a scam opportunity to make money. However, as the lessons go on, it isn’t the food that’s hot, but also their faces as they slowly fall for each other. Adapted from the novel “Love Course! เสื้อกาวน์รุกเสื้อกุ๊กรับ” by iJune4S,

Dangerous Romance GMMTV YouTube - Sailom, a poor yet studious student, has worked several odd jobs along with his elder brother to keep his affairs in order. Destiny Seeker - Engineering students in university dorms, Songkram the head of dorm 3, which is where the "strong and athletic" male students are sorted. Aye is the head of dorm 2, the "good looking" male students live. Aye used to be Songkram's tutor and friend, but they fell apart after both of them were chosen to be dorm heads. Aye is actually in love with Songkram, however, he thinks Sonkram has feelings for Mean. What Aye doesn't know, is that he's the one Songkram likes. So, Bad Buddy the second coming. But also v Japanese concept. 

Heart by Heart (Half Toast Production) Trailer 1 Trailer 2 - of the same name, the trailers are GOOD. I’m more excited for this one then I thought I'd be. Has a bit of Tasty Florida, bad boy/good boy, high drama going on. Stars all unknowns but they look like decent actors.

Hidden Agenda (JoongDunk) GMMTV YouTube - Zo, a college freshman whose never been in love, decides to change it by making the college’s popular girl Nita as his girlfriend. However, to woo her, he approaches Joke, Nita’s ex, for dating advice. What he fails to realize is that Joke has had his eyes on him for a long time and uses this opportunity to approach Zo. Will Joke succeed?

Hot Bamee and Yummy Gyogung (9Cats Studio) - stars Nutt Witsarut (Daisy from SCOY) as Gyogung & Boat Yongyut (Tim from My Secret Love) as Bamee.

Last Twilight (JimmySea) GMMTV YouTube - Burdened with heavy debt, Mork, a mechanic, is forced to take a high paying job as a caretaker for Day, a rich heir who suffers from partial blindness after an accident. Day recruits Mork as he realizes the latter does not see him as a disabled person, but rather as co-equals. As they spend time together, the two begin developing feelings for the other. Middleman’s Love AKA Middle Love (Domundi for Viki) - Production started. This used to be a JimmyTommy vehicle before the pair split (also prev title Middle Love). Adapted from a Y-novel. Jade works as a graphic designer and has always been stuck in the middle - average. His heart is hardened after a life spent being overlooked because he is not as charming or good looking as the rest of his family or friends. When his office gets a hot new intern, Mai, Jade assumes Mai couldn’t possibly be intersted in him. Instead he believes Mai is after his friend, Uea. Mai, of course, has other ideas. To be directed by Cheewin leads recast as TutorYim (crumbs from Cutie Pie) we likey, good choice.

Make a Wish (WaGa Creative) - Started filming 12/22, stars Fluke Natouch (OhmFluke UWMA etc...) & Judo (The Miracle Of Teddy Bear) in a medical-fantasy. It seems to be a light-hearted romance with a comedic flair. About a doctor who sees ghosts and a deity who resides in a Bodhi tree that earns merits whenever he fulfills a wish. He is shocked to find the doctor can actually see him and decides to help him find the reason for his ghostly ability. Thus begins a chaotic yet romantic journey. Depicts Dan (Singto), the new student in an all-boys Catholic school who's suffering from sleep paralysis where he saw shadows in his dream, & Nine (Fluke), a student who's condemned by his seniors for being gay. Despite Dan being seen by the other students as a freak. Nine fully understood him because he's been dealing with seeing spirits since childhood. The two became close and gossip circulated between them. Dan chooses to be his friend even if Nine falls in love with him. An interesting combination for actors for sure. 

Step By Step (Dee Hup) - age gap office romance between stern boss and sweet subordinate (AKA my catnip) Thailand doesn't have a great track record with office set BL. Thailand’s record with office set BL is terrible. But I LOVE the concept.

Wish Me Luck (Be Brave Entertainment Hub) - About a boss and his temporary employee in an advertising company, based on Bittersweet's y-novel of the same name สุดที่รักษ์. Starring my boy Fiat (Grean Fictions, SOTUS S, My Gear and Your Gown, Triage) who I’ve been waiting to lead a BL for a decade (it feels like) and Na Naphat (KinnPorsche, UWMA). Again, office BL, but gah PLEASE be good. 

Wish You Luck (StudioCommuan) - Sci Fi dystopian BL about a luck-stealer and an optimistic innocent. Stars Tonnam (Dr Sing in Triage) and Title (our beloved baby Nut from the Yearbook) in a tsundere/sunsine survivor story.

who made the first move: robert approached laura first when he saw her sketching on the bench. he found her mysterious nature intriguing, and invited her to a bookshop cafe where they could talk more, surrounded by soft music and nice art.

who kissed who first: i think their first kiss was mutual. robert was sitting next to her on a park bench, his arm nervously placed around her. she looked up from her book, they locked eyes, and they both leaned in.

who started the relationship: after they went out a few times, they just kinda.. became exclusive?? robert because he genuinely felt a connection with laura, and laura for the same reason, but also because robert's presence brought her peace of mind and didn't add hassle to her life. it's nice to not be alone with your own thoughts.

who remembers things: laura has a great memory. robert is well-meaning, but can be a little forgetful when it comes to smaller things. laura gives him a notepad and a pencil and tells him to write down things he needs to remember, and sooner or later, his workspace, the fridge, and the doors in the house are littered with them.

nicknames for each other: laura goes for "bob", "rob", "robbie", or "bert". sometimes she says his name with a french accent—it's an inside joke they have. robert calls her "honey", "babe", or "my girl".

who is more likely to pay for dinner: robert has pretty steady employment, so he usually pays.

who normally cooks: laura's a better cook than robert. he likes it when she teaches him, because she always says that he has the capabilities to become better if he puts his mind to it.

who remembers anniversaries: they both do.

what would they get each other for gifts: robert likes to get laura flowers, books, or art supplies. he also gets her music pieces, records, or tapes. laura's the kind of person who gives drawings or works of art for gifts. she has a bunch of old books as well, and she learned to make art pieces with them.

most trivial thing they fight over: not that this is trivial, but laura tends to isolate herself, or "wander off" for a while and not leave any notice or tell robert where she's going. robert gets concerned, and laura feels that he's being overbearing.

how often do they fight: they're both pretty chill, so they don't fight that often.

who uses all the hot water: laura loves a good bath. her and robert sometimes bathe together, too.

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: laura has to, or bob will try to fix it himself.

who leaves their stuff around: laura kinda shoves her stuff into drawers, but keeps a pretty neat and minimalistic house. when robert's stressed, he'll leave his stuff laying around.

who remembers to buy the milk: when robert's going out for work, laura will usually say, "bob, we need milk." she just hopes he'll remember to actually pick it up.

who controls the netflix queue: they're the kind of couple to watch the same shows—usually one or two episodes a night. robert mostly adapted to laura's tastes, though. i could see them watching thrillers, mystery, drama, documentaries, and the like.

who steals the covers at night: laura. robert sleeps pretty still. sometimes she'll wake him up by accidentally kicking him in her sleep.

who cusses more: if laura's really irked, she swears like a sailor. she's pretty chill most of the time, but she has mild road rage tendencies. there have been a couple of times that robert had to stop her from getting into a fight.

who does most of the cleaning: they try to split domestic tasks, but since bob works more, laura usually takes over.

what’s their favorite non-sexual activity: doing artistic activities together. sometimes they'll draw each other, or read with their legs all tangled up together.

who’s the cuddler: robert. sometimes, he holds laura like she's gonna go somewhere. laura doesn't really mind his clingy tendencies, so she kinda just lets him hold her.

who’s the big spoon/little spoon: usually it's robert big, laura little.

who’s more dominant: mostly laura. robert will do anything she asks, in and out of the bedroom.

who is the dirty talker: bob mostly uses affirmation/praise phrases. laura is more of the "dirty talker".

what do they do when they’re away from each other: laura's pretty independent, so she doesn't mind being away from bob all that much. in fact, she actually enjoys having alone time every once in a while, especially because it helps her creatively. on the other hand, being away from laura makes bob a little uneasy. he likes to call her every so often, just to check in.

what would they do if the other one was hurt: bob kinda likes being taken care of and "babied" by laura because it makes him feel safe and wanted. in that sense, when she's caring for him while he's sick and/or injured, he enjoys the attention. if laura were sick or hurt, bob would be a little more distressed, but he likes to have the chance to cook for her and care for her in return. he sees it as an opportunity to show his affection.

a headcanon: occasionally, laura will leave little drawings around for bob. it's almost like a game at this point—he likes to see if he can find them all. sometimes she'll doodle on a sticky note and slide it in his notes, his books, in his coat, his shoe, his lunch, or some object in the house. she really enjoys the excitement he expresses when he find them. in return, he began to write loving little notes on the back of the drawings and re-hide them among her things. at first, it was pretty surprising to laura, but she keeps them all.

after her death, dale finds a box in her house full of little notes with drawings on one side, and affectionate phrases on the back. he puts two and two together and realizes that they were co-made with robert, and his realization is confirmed after a handwriting analysis. after robert is cleared of suspicion of murder, dale gives him back a number of laura's possessions, the box with the notes included. dale excuses himself from the room, but not before he hears the box open and robert begin to sob.

Reccer Says: It is so cute! Keyleth is perfectly awkward and you can really feel just how hot Vex is lol. And Vex's strategy for finding Keyleth again is fun!

Reccer Says: I've never personally watched Ladyhawke but I am very familiar with the concept and love an AU based on it and this does not disappoint. The drama, the intrigue, the dynamics!!! It's so good. Updates monthly and its 4th chapter just went up so now's as good a time as any to catch up to follow along!

He’d definitely like cooking together. Even if one or both you aren’t the best at it, he loves figuring it out with you and there are lots of giggles when you make a mess (him with flour all over him would be so cute) or when you get something wrong. Can totally see a “accidentally catch the kitchen on fire” situation ending in you both looking at each other like 😳 before busting out laughing.

Definitely a big fan of showering together. Sharing a bathroom seems really mundane and sometimes not that glamorous, but it’s actually kind of an intimate, vulnerable thing, and I think he’d love getting ready for the day or to go to bed with you next to him like that. Like just brushing your teeth at the same time, helping him shave or him shaving while you do your hair routine, and he feels soooo privileged to know he’s the only once who gets to see you right as you get out of the shower and vice versa.

I think he’d like doing chores with you too. Or anything where you’re in the same space and just enjoying each others presence while doing different things. Like sitting leaning against him working off your datapad while he’s meditating, or him laying his head in your lap while you both read your books, or doing laundry that turns into him doing goofy stuff to make each other laugh — splashing each other if you’re doing laundry with a full bucket the old fashioned way, making a little soap sculpture on his head, him wearing your bra like a hat while he does the rest of the laundry like nothing is amiss, etc.

I think he’d just live for the little moments and every super mundane thing becomes a situation where he’s just so grateful cuz, like I’ve said before, I hardcore believe with all the bullying, loneliness, identity crises, and near-death experiences he’s had, he never thought he’d get to have peaceful domestic moments in life, so it’s something he really cherishes.
