Jade gets a Huntail and Clobbopus because they remind him of Floyd and Azul respectively. Why would he have something like himself? that'd be boring, lol.

Azul worked hard to find a white-striped Basculin simply because he heard it could evolve and he wants bragging rights. but he's been trying since his first year, he'll get it eventually. He picked up the Bounsweet at the start of second year, for veriety's sake. and he has the Tatstugiri as the unofficial mascot for the lounge.

Floyd has the Gorebyss as it reminds him of Jade. And the Palafin(I know it's hard to tell) is his best buddy to play with. Plus he thinks the hero form is funny looking and it makes him laugh.

My rules

first years get 1 first-stage Pokémon, second and higher get 2 Pokémon of first or higher stage. Dorm leaders get 3 Pokémon. Teachers/staff (if I decide to do them) get 4 Pokemon.

no legendary or mythical Pokemon.

avoid too obvious of choices when possible. (unless nothing else works)

I got to draw some White Stripe Basculin for the GottaDrawEmAll Legend: Arceus collaboration on Deviantart! I actually got to start playing the game after Pokemon were assigned for the collab, though I haven't made it to where I can catch any Basculin just yet. I am enjoying the game overall, but I could really deal without being reminded that our player character fell from the sky every time someone talks to us.

Doodledex - #550-F3 White-Striped Basculin

You may be asking "What the heck? Why is there a random new form for Basculin of all things in here? Why is this not a Hisuian form?", and the answer to that is.... uh... I have no idea. I think this is treated as a regional variant, but it's officially referred to as "White-Striped", matching its other two forms. In other words, I'm treating this as if it were just a random new form, and not a variant because Game Freak is very unclear with what's going on here.

Unlike the other two varieties of Basculin, White-Stripeds are actually very calm and gentle, and don't pick any fights over territory. In fact, they tend to migrate upstream in large numbers... although many of them don't survive the journey. (...But wait a second, that's salmon! These are bass! Something odd's going on here... and we'll get to that eventually.)

Rating all of Pokémon's regional forms pt. 3!

Hisuian forms:

Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine: Hisuian Growlithe is pretty darn cute! I love the fact that they covered its eyes with its hair!! And Hisuian Arcanine looks quite badass in my opinion. 55/10

Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode: I love the Electric/Grass type given and it fits the Hisui region pretty damn well! I like that the expressions are swapped here. It really makes them look different from OG Voltorb and Electrode! 9/10

Hisuian Typhlosion: Hmmm... I kinda like the smug expression in contrast to OG Typhlosion. You can really feel the Ghost type in it. I also like the contrast between the flames and the ghostly flames coming from Hisuian Typhlosion. 65/10

Hisuian Qwilfish and Overqwil: I like that Qwilfish got an evo. I felt it really deserved it as OG Qwilfish was pretty damn forgettable. I like Overqwil because of its metal design and savage Pokedex entry. I also love how different it is from OG Qwilfish. 20/10

Hisuian Sneasel and Sneasler: Wow. I really love the color and expression contrast. I like the fact that it got a regional evo instead of a Hisuian Weavile. 45/10

Hisuian Samurott: Erm... I'm not a big fan of the fact that it's not that different from OG Samurott. But I like the details of the design! I like that they made it a little edgier. Well, at least they did something with it. The design could've been a lot worse. 6.7/10

Hisuian Lilligant: I like what they did with this one. I love the fact that they gave it a Grass/Fighting type and not Grass/Fairy. Lovely/10

White Striped Basculin and Basculegion: I love the fact that White Striped Basculin is gentle in contrast to Red and Blue Striped Basculin. Also, Basculegion's female form has me feeling bad for it. I just want to hug the poor creature.... 140/10

Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark: I like the direction they took with it. It's got a metal backstory and a very beautiful design. 256/10

Hisuian Braviary: I just feel pretty... eh about it. 5/10

Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra: I just don't like 'em. I don't like the fact that they don't look different from their OG forms. I despise their shiny forms too. 1.5/10

Hisuian Avalugg: I don't know about this one, but I can say that for one, I like the fact that at least they tried to make it look different unlike Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra. 7/10

Hisuian Decidueye: Now THIS is something real good. I like the autumn colors they gave it! And its pose is BADASS!!!!! 341/10

Favorite: Hisuian Decidueye

Second favorites: Hisuian Zoroark and Basculegion

Least favorite: Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra

Most badass: Hisuian Arcanine

Cutest: Hisuian Growlithe
