I'm trying to get back to using my perfume collection, which is often sort of "out of sight, out of mind". I have about 50 scents (mostly BPAL imps) that I've organized it all into a spreadsheet, sorted by season.
These are the ones I'm taking out for the next couple of weeks:
Saint-Germain (BPAL 2006) - "Gilded amber, hypnotic lavender, brash carnation and deep mosses." This is one of my very favorite scents, which was sadly discontinued in 2010. I've been hoarding about half an imp for a long time, but I should just let myself enjoy it.
Loviatar (BPAL 2006) - "The slap of slick, hot leather punctuates the warm, sensual embrace of black amber, red musk and dark, lascivious myrrh." Another one I love that was discontinued in 2010, and I only have a drop left. The BPAL website is teasing me that it might be re-released at some point, but who knows?
Calico Jack (BPAL 2007 & 2021) - "Sea air, driftwood, waterlogged kelp, and the memory of plundered spices sprayed over worn leathers, rough musk, and the salty wooden floorboards of the Revenge." I have an old imp I want to use up before I get into the new one.
Ave Maria Gratia Plena (BPAL 2021) - "Rosewood with Sicilian lemon peel, red Mysore sandalwood, pale musks, sweet mountain sage and a dusting of lily, night-blooming jasmine and orris."
Robin Goodfellow (BPAL 2021) - "Dark musk, moss-covered wood, ragwort, heather, and sage."
Gravity (Coty 2000) - "Top notes are White Pepper, Lime, Sage and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Cloves and Freesia; base notes are Leather, Vanilla and Woodsy Notes." This scent is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. It was the cologne all the boys were wearing when I was in high school in the mid 90s. It reminds me of a lot of good times, and so I've incorporated it into my gender journey.
Speakeasy (Samar Pit Crew 2022) - "French oakwood, soft leather, tobacco, gin, rum, elderflower, vetiver. 'Speakeasy' is an offering to queer joy - past, present, and future." My roommate got me this one for Christmas, and I keep forgetting to test it out.

But then you realize that Devsisters will make the most money from the whales for the Beast-Yeast update
And then White Lily becomes COTY 2024
Her costume... So majestic, from at least we've seen so far
i saw someone on here mention that pure vanilla and her costume both have forget-me-nots on them...
good grief, man. i love watching my silly guy go through absolute hell while my canon-divergent ass leans back and relaxes after the war's already ended

✨+ Liesel ✨+ Olga ✨+ Marguerite ✨+ Nina ✨+Stefan. This is an open invitation for you to take the stage and talk to us about perfumes. I hear you are slightly interested in discussing the topic?
If you want to know my muse's fragrance send the ✨ (or sparkle) with a '+' & the muse's name. @lordofthestrix
Liesel is hands DOWN Bibliothèque by Byredo. I don't think she'd BUY this perfume for herself (IDK what she'd acutally buy tbh- maybe Mémoire d'une Odeur by Gucci) but Bibliotheque is what she DOES actually smell like naturally. Its light and fresh but with that paper and ink smell that just transports the senses to an airy monastery or library on a spring day with the sweet breeze coming through. A possibility for her is Paper by Commodity even though I'm not entirely sure because I've never smelled that one and its very tricky to nail the right aesthetic though it has been described as very bookshop like. I would LIKE to include something involving lavender, as many people has said they think Liese wears lavender, but I'm just going to assume she wears a lavender lotion or soap because I don't thinks she'd pick a lavender perfume. Perfume wise, Liese doesn't buy herself perfume? Its like jewelry for her- if someone gifts it she wears it, otherwise she doesn't think to buy herself perfume.
Olga's perfume is ACUTALLY known and its "The Rose" by Coty which is literally JUST rose according to notes and people's reviews so for a modern take I'd wager 'A La Rose' by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I'm basing this off the reviews for the original which say its a clean pure rose and I'd definitely say MFK's 'A La Rose' is JUST the same and I should know I own a bottle and absolutely adore it.
Marguerite absolutely was one of the FIRST to wear/discover Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian but after it hit popularity she stopped wearing it because everyone wore it. She likes a distinctive elegant scent like Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle or of course (!!!!) the infamous Delina by Parfums de Marly but again I feel its so popularized that she might not wear it though she does like it. What she MIGHT do is layer both perfumes together, but I do feel like Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle is definitely a Marg.uerite St. Ju.st scent because of the white florals which is the true marguerite at her core beyond the popularity of who society thinks she is. Or maybe even Le Bouquet de la Reine by Guerlain because she loves supporting French perfume houses and this scent is so floral, playful and light that it would just be a fantastic fragrance for her (aka the queen of the people).
Nina has stolen her mother's bottle of Mémoire d'une Odeur by Gucci but she also wears Florence by Tocca which is a green-white floral on a daily basis. Maybe Chloe by Chloe when she's feeling especially feminine or Coco Madmoiselle because its such a classic feminine scent. While Liesel is more dark academia scents then Nina is more Light academia / parisian scents like I could say hands down Nina would wear Chanel N'5 l'eau, not the original, with a rose or lily oil to layer the scent.
Stefan is a difficult one. He's a woodsy-clean-leather scent kind of person, but he's also...a bit stuck-up so I could see him wearing Tom Ford's 'Ombre Leather' as a signature scent or 'Oud for Greatness' by Initio for a date night or when he wants to feel good about himself. Spicebomb Night vision or Hermes Terre d'Hermes as a day to day, light, regular personal errands run.
#lordofthestrix#THIS was waaaaaaaay easier than for Tristan lemme tell you#this would've been done in five minutes except i had to go run errands#SO there you have it#also don't come at me abt the tom ford remark#his clothes are great but his perfumes miss the mark for the hype imo

What r ur favorite fragrances that you don’t wear yourself/men’s fragrances/honorable mentions?
Ooh, thank you for asking!! I love fragrance so much (<- stating the obvious)
I really like Coty Stetson as a men's fragrance. It's the cologne my dad wears so I have a lot of fond memories of it, but I also genuinely think it's a nice alternative to the really aggressive, sharp scents that seem to be the go-to for men these days. It has notes of lavender, bergamot, cedar, carnation, honey, clary sage, and vetiver. (It's almost unisex, so I've definitely stolen from my dad a couple times to add some edge to a very feminine outfit.) I have very few opinions on men's cologne in general as a lesbian, but this one is a banger and a classic.
As far as perfumes I love but don't wear, the first thing that comes to mind is YSL Black Opium (orange blossom, pink pepper, bitter almond, vanilla, jasmine, cashmere). It's my cousin's signature scent and it's absolutely lovely, it always makes me think of her. We've been the best of friends since we were in diapers and anytime I miss her, I sniff a sample bottle of Black Opium. It's something I'd wear, but it would feel weird if I did, that's "her scent".
+ Honorable Mentions
Victoria's Secret Crème Cloud: This is a fairly simple scent, but very sweet and pretty. I always spray this on my robe and pajamas and now I can Pavlov myself into relaxation with it. It's like a little hug in a bottle: vanilla, meringue, sandalwood, amber, and musk.
Red Deer Grove Fetish: Generally I'm not the kind of person who wears spicy perfumes, but if I'm going to it's this one. It stays very soft and rounded with dragon's blood, bay rum, cinnamon, musk, sandalwood, amber, clove, tobacco, vanilla, cream, oakmoss. I have given this Etsy shop so much of my money and I never regret it.
Chanel No. 5: Listen, this is a classic for a reason. I only bust this one out for special occasions because my bottle was a gift from my mom for my 16th birthday. I'm twenty-two now and I've only used half the bottle because it deserves to be savored. It's not for everyone, but just like Shalimar, I really enjoy "mature" scents. I fell in love with white florals and musk because of this perfume. Theoretically the notes are aldehydes, bergamot, neroli, lily of the valley, jasmine, iris, civet, vetiver, and musk, but it just smells like Chanel No. 5 to me.
Andromeda's Curse The Moon: Another Etsy shop that owns my ass. I would like to be controversial yet brave and say that the most underutilized notes in perfume these days are powder and HEAVY florals because people are afraid of them, but I absolutely adore both and that's the focal point of this perfume. It's so heady and sharp in exactly the way love with honeysuckle, gardenia, lily, milk, powder, and honey.
On top of regular perfume, I also have a kind of "scent library" with indie fragrance that I use to channel certain moods for art or writing (a dab on the wrist or in an essential oil warmer). They aren't as wearable as the others, but I love them. These are my favorites:
Andromeda's Curse Black Phillip: animal musk, butter, straw, old wood
Andromeda's Curse Haunted Conservatory: wet soil, orchid, white lily, musk, rot, crushed vegetation
Strange South Baby Shoes: milk, powder, cut grass, gasoline, damp earth
Strange South Space Dust: hot metal, stone, cold air

Vintage Perfume Quick Takes
brief summaries for when I didn't have enough to write for a full review
F. Millot Crepe de Chine
Nose: Jean Desprez
Notes: aldehydes, bergamot, neroli, lemon, orange; carnation, lilac, iris, jasmine, rose, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, elemi; oakmoss, galbanum, heather, sandalwood, leather, benzoin, musk, patchouli, vetiver, cedar, amber
Goes on with a hit of boozy-sweet resins, and quickly fades into a fluffy, chintzy mixed floral, heavy on the rose. I find it forgettable. It's supposed to be a bitter, sophisticated chypre; maybe I got a suboptimal sample or a bad nose day?
Evyan White Shoulders
notes: aldehydes, orange flower, green notes, peach, bergamot; gardenia, lilac, tuberose, jasmine, lily, lily-of-the-valley, iris, spices; civet, oakmoss, musk, sandalwood, benzoin
Your basic white floral. Smells good, though maybe a little too sweet and creamy for my taste; fades rapidly.
Guerlain Chant D'Aromes
Nose: Jean-Paul Guerlain
Notes: aldehydes, citrus, gardenia, plum; honeysuckle, jasmine, ylang-ylang, clove; heliotrope, vetiver, olibanum, benzoin, vanilla
This was a light, citrusy floral veil with a cuddly-soft drydown. There were some unusual herbal notes, almost like cooking herbs (thyme?). Delicate and pleasant but not too memorable.
Coty L'Aimant
Nose: Vincent Roubert
Notes: aldehydes, neroli, peach, bergamot; ylang-ylang, rose, jasmine, geranium, orchid; musk, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka, vetiver, cedar
This is a bit of formal glass-chandelier sparkle over the usual Coty powder-soft base. A milder, puff-powder version of the classic aldehydic floral. The powder certainly makes it easier to wear, but also less interesting. It settles into pure powder, musky and sweet and very skin-like.
Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur
Nose: Jacques Guerlain
Notes: lavender, bergamot, lemon verbena; neroli, tonka, jasmine, patchouli, cinnamon, rose; vanilla, iris, amber, oakmoss
A wine-dark rose, somewhat tangy; that almost immediately falls into pale powder. Not too sweet, just smells clean and comfortable. I must be missing most of the complexity because everyone else seems to smell lavender, vanilla, and animalics. I get very little of anything, maybe a little bit of the oakmoss spine or a touch of dry citrus, and clean soft powder.
Caron Tabac Blond
Nose: Ernest Daltroff
Notes: carnation, leather, linden; iris, ylang-ylang, vetiver; vanilla, musk, patchouli, cedar
Goes on with smoky, sweetened leather. a soft powdery landing. pleasant but not memorable. Basically Bellodgia with a leather top.

I'm looking for flowers that represent gods or goddesses. Of any culture.
Hey there Nonny!
That is a great question! But also one that is very non-specific. There are a great many deities and a great many cultures. So without knowing what you're looking for specifically, we've decided to scan The Big Five – Greek, Roman, Indian, Egyptian and Norse mythology. I've found a great many things and this is going to be an incredibly long ask, so grab a drink and some food we'll be here for a while.

i was originally thinking of using krista keehus, but after looking up her tumblr page (which is easy to access and find, just look up her name and look at blogs i think it’s either the first or second one. it’s her name and has plenty of problematic post) i do not agree with anything she has ever said on there and i would also like to tell people who are also thinking of using her, that she is just a very good person. though, i can’t tell people to stop using her if they truly want to - i just know i will not be using her.
regardless of that, i am looking for a faceclaim who could possibly work against chris motionless. (preferably someone who has a gothic and/or alternative look). though, the kicker would probably be that i would prefer for the person to have plenty of recourses. the doesn’t faceclaim doesn’t necessarily have to be someone in the music scene, but that’s fine with me - especially if they have plenty of recourses lol. i’m looking for someone around the ages of 26-34 years old, no one older than 36 preferably.

001/ JIL SANDER
/HISTORY
Born out of a perceived lack of suitable clothing for the modern woman, Jil Sander founded her label in 1967 in her native Hamburg. At the tender age of 24 and fresh out of her degree in textile design, Sander embarked upon her quest to craft practical and yet exquisite clothing in an industry that she perceived as dressing women “in various clichés from the past”. Building upon a German tradition of craftsmanship and a love for state-of-the-art fabric, Jil Sander’s approach to womenswear accompanied the changing notions of femininity that defined the late 70’s and 80’s. As more women than ever before were reaching previously unimaginable professional heights, Sander’s collections featured a new minimalist, strict, elegant and business-appropriate style that enabled women to work equally alongside men. Once asked about her approach, Sander states that she “grasped that you must be contemporary, that you must think of the future”. Prada Group acquired a majority share of the label in 2000, leading to Sander’s abrupt departure six months later, citing differences with Prada CEO Bertelli, Miuccia Prada’s husband. In her stead Milan Vukmirovic, who had previously designed for Colette and Gucci, was
installed as chief designer, but failed to uphold the streamlined cleanliness that Jil Sander had executed. For 2001, the Jil Sander Group reported a net loss of $9.4 million - its first ever. Trying to ward off disaster, Prada asked Sander back in 2003. But only four seasons later Sander was to depart again, citing continuing differences with Bertelli. In 2005, Raf Simons took over the helm of the company, managing to successfully maintain the heritage of the label while adding his own touch in the form of appliqués and electric coloured outerwear. He also successfully expanded the brand to include eyewear, jewelry and lingerie as well as adding a lower priced a diffusion-line in 2011. When Simons departed for Dior after seven successful years in 2012, Sander returned to head her house for the third time – only to leave yet again, this time for personal reasons, one year later. Since the fall of 2014 Rodolfo Paglialunga, himself a veteran of Vionnet and Prada, has been the new creative director of Jil Sander. He has made a very promising start. Paglialunga’s debut show in September 2014 was greeted by rapturous applause after his simple, androgynous looks came down the runway. It also seems promising that when asked about his approach to upholding the specific aesthetic of austere minimalism that defines the Sander style, his words seem reminiscent of Jil Sander and her concern to stay contemporary and future oriented. He states “For me, when you talk about minimalism, that puts me in the ’90s. I’d like to talk about contemporary ways. Simplicity is minimalism, probably. Uniform is minimalism, probably. I work on simplicity.” It seems that the label is in good hands then to steer it onwards and upwards, and away from the danger of becoming a “cliché from the past”, the desire that gave the creative spark to the label’s existence in the first place. (source)
/PHILISOPHY
Linked to being the bauhaus of fashion, Jil Sander represents the ultimate minimalist interpretation of modern dress culture. With simple, clean lines and a design concept based on the notion that beauty should always go hand in hand with function and comfort, Jil Sander’s empowering silhouettes, made for the successful working woman, conquered the word of fashion. Paglialunga states “For me, when you talk about minimalism, that puts me in the ’90s. Softly Jil Sander is a new edition of the collection that comes out in February 2017. The scent is “dedicated to women who wish to indulge themselves with a daily ritual of softness and comfort." The gentle floral - musky composition is created by perfumer Nathalie Lorson. A ginger, magnolia and cotton accord from the top of the composition leads to the floral heart of jasmine, orange blossom and heliotrope. The base ends with accords of sandalwood, musk and vanilla. The bottle retains the simple design that is characteristic to this line, colored in white and aquamarine. The fragrance is available as an Eau de Toilette. It is a part of a 5-step ritual:

/OVERALL
I believe Jil Sander is a perfect example of Acne Studios competitor. The brand is cutting edge, and best known for its minimalistic taste. After looking into Jil Sander background and ethos, it became even clearer that the brand was born with one idea and this was then developed without damaging with the years. In a way, Acne Studios does the same; evolving without losing track.
Jil Sander has a fragrance line with different collections since 1979. I looked into their evolution to find out that their scents are not following the same ideas thought the years; this is a positive point considering that they always want to innovate their scent collections and be up to date.
If Acne Studios will ever launch a fragrance, the competition with Jil Sander would be high, but at the same time, they would go in parallel ways.
