'white christmas' (1954) prompts. 🌨️
'I know I'm leaving them in good hands.' 'That's not a very nice Christmas present, is it?' 'Yeah, it's nothing but a scratch.' 'That's the last time I'm gonna dig up a date for him.' 'When I figure out what that means, I'll come up with a crushing reply.' 'Forty-five minutes going to be enough?' 'Well, it's not good, but it's a reason.' 'Just like honesty needs a little plus, fate needs a little push.' 'That's a pretty cynical point of view.' 'Looks like our work's cut out for us.' 'Maybe you'd sleep better if you had something to eat.' 'I know exactly what I'm going to dream about tonight.' 'I'd rather not discuss last night, if you don't mind.' 'Well, you're not exactly Superman, but you're awfully available.' 'Now, that didn't hurt too much, did it?' 'You know, in some ways, you're far superior to my cocker spaniel.' 'I only did it for your good.' 'Sometimes I wish the wall had fallen on me.' 'Break your arm, your ankle or your neck, but don't break anything valuable.' 'It just shows you how foolish people can be.' 'They haven't done much for you, hardly anything.' 'You didn't expect me to come down in my bathrobe, did you?' 'Look at this, relatives already.' 'I'm gonna be very busy here.' 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.'

Can't help but think about how gay coded Phil Davis is in White Christmas. Like obviously the filmmakers couldn't outright say he is, but the hints are there. Phil interacting with the chorus girls like a matchmaking best friend. The scene where he and Bob are changing in their dressing room and Bob is tossing him clothes to pack up, Phil never dropping anything (indicating this is a routine for them) but Bob dropping one of the the two things Phil tosses to him. Him never taking interest in his own love life ("Don't quote me the price when I haven't got the time"). The obvious joy he takes in the "Sisters" drag scene (which was his idea). The "Choreography" number where he plays a flamboyant theatre dancer. The scene where Judy has to convince him to fake the engagement and he likens his feelings for her to the feelings he has for his cocker spaniel. The fact that General Waverly has to convince him to kiss Judy at the Christmas party. How he only kisses her at the end of the movie after he sees Bob kissing Betty. Hell, even one of the newspapers on screen after the war ends saying "Noted singer takes partner". If this movie is ever remade, Phil needs to be gay.

I’d seen a live version of white Christmas on stage a few years back and this year was my first time seeing the movie. So when I tell you in the middle of one of the numbers I see fucking Bernardo?!

Cosplays I Want To Do But Have No Idea How I'm Going To Make Them - Christmas Edition
If you have never seen White Christmas (1954), you need to go watch it as soon as possible- it's iconic and Edith Head is such an amazing costume designer. Also yes the example photos I have are ass- the movie is from the fifties leave me alone
I would be happy to have literally any of the costumes from White Christmas but SPECIFICALLY. I desperately want the gown Rosemary Clooney wore in the Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me scene. The gown is SO BEAUTIFUL and I have NO CLUE how the hell to make the damn thing.
The scalloping details around the neckline are absolutely flawless, which seems completely impossible because I'm pretty sure the gown is made of velvet? Unfortunately (based off me trying to find literally any recent reference photos) the original dress has apparently disappeared, so I don't really have any way of confirming that. I do think that velvet seems like the mostly likely fabric for it, especially looking at the way literally zero light reflects off the fabric despite ridiculously bright studio lighting. When I someday make this complicated as hell gown I'll probably go for black velvet.
The back of the dress features a rhinestoned swirl motif that is so pretty- and also matches the earrings Rosemary Clooney wears exactly. That means I will in fact need to learn how the hell to make the exact earrings which will probably include some form of soldering? Which totally won't make this super difficult or anything.
Adding to the rhinestones- while the gown is gone the gloves are not and thanks to this blogspot article -https://phyllislovesclassicmovies.blogspot.com/2021/12/part-i-seeing-costumes-from-white.html - I actually got a decent photo of them. Hey what do you mean they're covered in individually stitched rhinestones and aren't just made out of a sequined fabric? Y'all had sequins, we've had them for thousands of years why did you need to go with RHINESTONES. These gloves are going to be a nightmare
The whole cosplay will, in fact, be a nightmare. Someday I will live out my childhood dreams and do drag of Rosemary Clooney

One Dress a Day Challenge
Anything Goes December
White Christmas / Rosemary Clooney as Betty Haynes
This was one of @coeli1000's suggestions for the last month of green. I don't know why I didn't feature it then, because I do love it! Looks like velvet, and the color is just scrumptious. The crossed strings around the neckline add a touch of visual interest. I also like the double pearl bracelet. All in all, it's a very festive dress, and it's a shame that it doesn't get more screen time.

White Christmas Musical AU
Maria in the “You Didn’t Do Right By Me” number would be so gorgeously thematic if we went by the movie costuming. Her outfit would beautifully mirror Shadow’s colouring, adding to the idea that Betty is singing about Bob
