saw a headline that said something like "why the goblin mode trend bothers me as a disabled woman" & it was basically "this started as a fringe thing where people rejected XYZ aesthstic & economic norms because their limitations prevented them from performing & fulfilling them regardless, it was a reclamation of agency & power, etc etc etc, & now it's just Normies Being Slobs On Instagram" which like, 1) these so-called trends only exist in the op-ed headlines that polemicize about them & the social media spaces where people post polarizing takes about them for engagement, it's the Clickbait & Likes Industrial Complex; 2) if *any* trend, no matter how manufactured & superficial, results in a relaxation of "professional" white-collar middle-class aesthetic & behavioral standards vis-a-vis existing in the public sphere (which includes the internet), that can only benefit disabled people; 3) [in my silliest voice] the goblin mode trend is stealing valor from me, an autistic person who hasn't changed their shirt since Thursday, ate plain meatloaf & Diet Coke for every meal today, can't get a real job, & just spent what was left of their last freelance paycheck after War Donations on hard copies of Polish newspapers from the 1930s
