Is it an unpopular opinion to say Ollie looks wrong in armor and should only wear it if it looks medieval? (Whitch is personaly why i don't really like Ollies Rebirth suit and his current suit)

I think most GA fans would agree that Ollie and his Robin Hood roots are inseparable, and that extends to his design too, imo. For my money, nothing's beaten Neal Adams' costume for that exact reason, and I doubt any future design will either. It's just too perfect a representation of who Ollie is.

When a design gives Ollie armour it does him a disservice conceptually. Sure it's more practical, but a) boooo practicality booooooo who cares!!!!, and b) it gives his costume a militarised, industrial look that robs him of flair and clashes with his whole thing. He's a modern day Robin Hood, he's a hunter, he's a swashbuckler -- his suit should reflect that!

The only other design that comes close, imo, is the Grell costume, which sticks to the core of Ollie's character and goes all-in on him as a hunter. Such a great design that not only began Ollie's decades-long affair with hoods, but also served to ground him in Grell's more, well, grounded writing. If I had to pick from Ollie's hooded looks, I'd choose the Grell costume no question.

All that to say that I agree and I hope Ollie returns to his roots soon LMAO, I miss that stupid hat

Welcome to my insane rant about Van Helsing, in the Dracula Hammer movies (with art)

*Quick* explaination of @quijicroix 's and I headcanons for Helsing, and why we think Lawrence (thought it was Abraham but no it's Lawrence in the Hammer cinematic universe) and Lorrimer Van Helsing are the same person (/!\ spoilers for the Hammer's Dracula movies obviously) :

At the end of Brides of Dracula (the second film in the timeline), we see Lawrence get bitten by a Vampire, not Dracula btw, and to remedy the curse he burns his neck and pour holy water on it. And ig by the power of jesus he doesn't get turned into a vampire (boring Hammer resolution) (and he doesn't even get a cool scar).

But we call bullshit on this ! Van Helsing definetly got turned into a (half) vampire !!

1) Lawrence and Lorrimer are both played by Peter Cushing and have the same face. Now I know what your probably thinking "this argument is lazy af", and if we stopped there, yes it would be. But we see Lawrence's son in 7 Golden Vampires (the last film in the serie, but not the timeline) !! And he looks NOTHING like Peter Cushing. So either the Cushing face skipped a generation (whitch is funny to imagine), or his son, who stays in china and never returns to england, serves as a way to help him hide his immortality by taking the identity of his own son, then his grandson Lorrimer.

2) Time for maths everyone ! In Dracula AD 1972, we learn Lawrence died in 1872. BUT !! In 7 Golden Vampires that takes place in 1904 (because the begining of the film is set in 1804 and these movies are obsessed with the 100 years later trope), who is still perfectly healthy and visiting his son in China more than twenty years after his death ?? Lawrence fucking Van Helsing. The only two explainations I see are either Vampirism or tax fraud.

And that would mean his son (Leyland Van Helsing btw) had to fuck very quickly after the movie for Lorrimer to be in his 70s (?) in 1972.

3) If curing vampirism was this easy, why kill the other people who got turned into vampires later in the timeline (rip a lot of the women and Johnny Alucard) ?? It paints Van Helsing in a way better light if you assume his miraculous cure didn't work *in the second film of this 9 movie saga*, and he doesn't just kill people he could cure.

4) it would be a very interesting take on the character, the renown vampire hunter himself becoming a monster, fighting to keep his humanity (but the Hammer didn't have the balls. And we thought about these movies way more than anyone involved in writting them-).

And the circle of violence theme is not between Dracula and the Helsing family anymore, but between him and Lawrence, whitch is way more personnal. And !! raises the stakes in both Dracula AD 1972 (already the best movie out of the 9 by far btw) and Satanic Rites since Dracula isn't the vampire his grandad fought, but his century long ennemy that keeps coming back.

And the scene at the end of Satanic Rites, where Dracula (for the first time in 9 movies) manage to align two sentences and basicly say he wants to end the world because he is tired of dying and coming back !!!!! Whitch is very heartbreaking already, but if he says it to the man who killed him (nearly) everytime ??? (We don't talk about that time Quatermass got him) Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ok I lied this was not quick but this!!!!!! Is something that has been haunting us for months, and in the words of Quiji : "People need to know."

Except Willow is Caleb and Hunter is Evelyn

Mostly inspired by my headcanon that Caleb was never enough for those around him and just righfully unsetisfied with his life until he met Evelyn (and maybe some other whitches) and Evelyn is the awkward bisexual who fell in love with him instantly. (And Caleb is a pure soul who can and will throw hands). Its the dynamic i can see being similar.

The similarity i can see between Caleb and Hunter is their upbringing and how they were confused about they're emotions at first even doubting themselves, while their witch girlfriends had much healthier relationships in their lives and, well, didnt grow up in cults.

I think it's implied that in the witch hunt era, Gravesfield was already an established village that the Wittebanes were living in (hence Belos co-opting the Gravesfield emblem for the Golden Guard uniform), but it's also a hundred percent possible that the town wasn't called Gravesfield back then, and that name was tacked on later. (Like how in real life, Salem, MA isn't even called Salem anymore, for example.)

Etymologically and out of universe, I think the Gravesfield name is probably inspired by Litchfield, CT... but I can definitely see what you propose working as an in-universe explanation. Fucked up if true.

Hi! Thanks so much for your interest in the fantasy AU!

Most of the art and info can be found on our tumblr, which is @rottmntfantasyau. Meanwhile, all of the fics are on our AO3 collection called “The Messenger, The Hunter, The Prince, and The Thief”.

A large majority of the fics center around Leo and Donnie, with “When the Moon meets the Morning” focusing on Mikey and Raph. “Do Not Go Gentle...” though still with a bit of a Donnie focus, is looking to encompass much of the plot and give a spotlight to all the turtles, however it just started out.

The creators have a general idea for the plot, but there’s not a whole lot of organization when it comes to putting the stories in order, and even some of them don’t always fit somewhere specific (and at times may contradict one another). Most of the fics so far occur before the main events of the plot, focusing on the turtles’ backstories. Here is an approximate story order with links to each fic:

Do humans have to die a specific way to become a siren or??

Oh! Okay thank okay lore time

So sirens can be born unrelated to humans, they’re a species all of their own

However there are several ways for a human to become a siren, whether temporary or Perminant

Let’s do the temp way first: magic artifacts

There’s some siren artifacts out there that can allow humans to breathe and see underwater like a siren can, some more advanced versions can even grant humans a tail, however artifacts like this are more rare because they need to have some connection to The Fisherman/The Great Siren aka fish god. (I’ll go more into that in a moment) this however is temporary and usually for a human to unlock the tail upgrade they’ve got to ‘earn it’ fish god isn’t just gonna give any old human a tail

Now onto the more perminant stuff.

Bringing back Fish god again, i like to think he goes by many names in universe but for simplicity’s sake I’m calling him fish god here. Basicaly he is the dude who made sirens a thing so if anyone wants to become a siren he’s gotta essentially approve it, though even as a fish god he can only do so much he is one dude, so usually his Nymphs will also have the authority to turn humans into sirens without his direct approval, however this isn’t common and only done in special cases. Any potion that can turn a human into a siren will have a step which is essentially getting fish gods blessing, if fish god says “no I don’t like this humans vibes” then the potion won’t work.

Anyway onto the fun part: humans becoming sirens.

Nymphs can do magic which will revive a dead or dieing human into a siren, but this can have varying reliability. Sometimes the human will keep their memory, sometimes they’ll forget their human life, usually depends how dead they are or how much bad they’ve done in like

Ie: I have an oc who was a siren hunter in life, but one day the sirens attacked his ship and sank it, injuring him and leaving him to drown. A nymph was in the area and decided to inact some justice. They turned him into a siren and essentially are forcing him to atone for his sins by scaring off/killing other siren hunters and saving siren lives. Because karma :)

In another case a nymph will save a dieing human who actually was a friend to the sirens, or at least wasn’t negative and really didn’t deserve to die like they did. Essentially saving them by making them a siren.

Now for turning a human into a siren without a nymph it’s usually done by powerful sea whitches since they usually have some connection to fish god, because something something he gives peeps their magic. As mentioned before there’s the potion, though it will only work if the human trades something of equal value for the tail, usually just the legs and maybe a momento will do fine, though in some unique cases (say the human is missing a leg or something) they’d have to offer more. Usually two keep sakes or another siren offering to cover the costs with say magic or trading something of their own. But those cases aren’t often, contrary to what you’d think, humans becoming sirens willingly isn’t extremely common, not uncommon but still not like an every day occurrence.

"Orion" was an hunter in the Greek Mythology. Renowned for his violence and his beauty, he was turned into a cluster of stars by Zeus, giving its name to the famous constellation Orion. His name could be based on Orion's Belt, which may explain his personality being spiritually aligned.

"Amari" is an Arabic name. The suffix "-i" (marks parentage or belonging to a clan) on "Amar", which can mean builder but also successful. Presumably it has Arabic roots
