Funny story.
I signed up for Ellipsus just to try this font. (The spelling is killing me. Please.)
I may keep it to continue writing with this font. It's oddly freeing and comforting. I write the words and then they're just gone, I can't obsess over them until it's time to obsess over them.
And something even more impactful that I wasn't expecting? The stark decrease in distraction and frustration from seeing absolutely zero red or blue squiggles under words. And from having to go back and change zero auto-"corrects."
Mind-blowing to realize how much I was bothered by those, with almost zero idea I was bothered by them.
I just found the funniest font ever
Like. What is this. Why is this. Who is the target audience of this?

I'm an adult. By birth year, not a young one.
Sometimes I'd really like to ask someone, "Why do people go quiet when I say something?"
"Why does the conversation move around me like I'm not there?"
It seems like sometimes, life decides for you who you are. You can fight, grow, be creative and tenacious, nurture your own warmth or humor or the steel of your spine. Year, after year, after year.
("Why has my work amounted to nothing?")
If we're a forest, vast and wild and varied... it seems the job of some trees is just to fall and feed other things. Maybe the difference between them and us is that they just don't bother wanting something else.

I love your art, but I want to ask about your dog. You mentioned that you have a silken windhound, and it's a breed that's been recommended to me. I've never known anyone who actually has one, though, so I'd love to know more if you're willing to share.
What's your experience with your windhound? Does your dog share space with kids or smaller pets? And what's her temperament like?
This is our first and only windhound (so far... ), so here's my experience: they are definitely cat-deer hybrids that sometimes act like dogs. :)
He's a pretty typical sighthound in that he defaults to sleeping most of the day with an hour or two of activity (walks/zoomies/PLEASE THROW THE TOY, then collapse to sleep another few hours). He's peaceful, easy to live with (not inclined to counter surfing or destruction), doesn't start anything with anybody, and is very quiet. No barking at door-to-door salespeople. Aloof with strangers in that he'll stick his giant snout in their pockets for treats and then go back to what he was doing. He's clean and any dirt disappears by the end of the hike. Like, magically so. Also, he sheds lots of fur.
We're a boring adult-only household and he is our only pet, so I can't really speak to how he would do with kids, but he does play politely with small dogs and seems to treat neighborhood cats similarly. I wouldn't trust him loose around small birds or rodents. Some of his littermates are in families with grade school children and cats/small dogs and get along fabulously. As a group, windhounds are generally more trainable than other sighthounds. OTOH, I grew up with herding dogs; he is very independent and low attention in comparison. I've met some more people oriented and cuddle-bug ones, so there's variance in the breed. :) He's also still a teenager, so I suspect this is as bratty as they get. I would say windhounds are more active and busy than the borzoi I've met and not as intense as whippets.
I don't know if that is a super helpful summary. XD The silken windhound facebook group is large and active too if you want to look for silkens to meet in your area. :)
The goober:

Tiber had some really nice dog interactions this morning!
we met another whippet and I let him off lead in the public park for the first time!
Tiber was going absolutely berserk about having a friendly sighthound running circles around him and play bowing. I didn’t have his harness on him this morning, only his collar, and I couldn’t get him to calm down all the way and was worried he’d choke himself. he’s been getting to a good place with his recall lately and we’ve been discussing trying him off lead in the smaller quieter park anyway, and the other whippet seemed really well trained and responsive to her owner so I figured if I let him off he’d want to stick close to play with her.
he did really well! got some nice zoomies out and was really good about coming back to me. I usually ask him to tap his nose on my hand for recall and he was a little too distracted to follow through completely with that, but he was very very good about running by me to check in and reorienting towards me when called. I think we have a little more work to do, but I’m very proud of him!
I kept it short and got him back on leash once they were done running their circles.
a little later on our walk we ran into a very old lurcher. they both wanted to greet each other very badly, and Tiber was being very polite about it, so I walked him over. she was 14! he was very gentle with her, but was also play bouncing a lot lol just giving her some extra space when he did so. she bounced around back at him a little, but I think she was too old and wobbly to really go for it. but it was very cute watching them bounce at each other. her owners were very sweet and we chatted a bit and that was very nice.
and then we had a nice passing by greeting with a little daschund on the way home. as always with daschunds he was entirely enamored with her. they had a little cute happy sniff session.
those were the big exciting ones today, but he’s been doing better about dogs on our walks in general lately too! I’m very proud of him. I am thinking tho that I want to try to find some more opportunities to give him outlets for his dog friend excitement.
the other day, he was very good about waiting for the ok to go greet a little terrier-thing while we asked his owner if they could say hi. and he was being so self-disciplined but ALSO soooo excited. he literally plonked his ass down and just sat there vibrating in place until he could go up.
it was very funny and cute to witness and he’s being so good and trying so hard. but I’m worried he’s getting amped up too much trying to hold back and worried about him going over threshold? Idk I gotta see if I can find any info on excited reactivity I guess.
here he is passed out on the couch after exciting walk^^
#journal#tiber tag#definitely glad the circumstances lined up just right to try him off lead and it went well#not sure I would have done it if it were a sighthound lol#but they predictably just went in circles around us and then came back#he’s been very good recently#although firmly in his teenage phase#he’s like. it feels like he’s trying so hard to be good but is just often overwhelmed by his impulses#we’re thinking he may be in a puppy fear period as well right now? because he’s been a little more shy and skittish in certain situations#but overall he’s been so fantastic and sweet#I’ve been walking#him more and longer as well#which I think is massively helping#thank god for my med changes lining up right at this time to make that possible lol#I got back on stimulants for my adhd and it’s not *fixing* the fatigue#but it’s definitely so much much more manageable now that I’m not spending all my energy fighting my brain so much#*werent

This makes me feel better about the random urge to bite my most cherished friends every time we hugged.
Spent 5+ years learning to repress that shite.
Watching how two dogs who love each other will sometimes still nip each other on the ear, bug them while they sleep, etc... watching how cats will snuggle with their buddy all day and then paw-smack 'em in the face, chase them, play-fight...
Makes me, as a fellow social mammal, feel better about my urge to be incredibly annoying to another human sometimes. Like, yeah. Of course I wanna bug you. Of course it's fun to annoy you. We're social creatures and annoyance can be part of play, something we all need. And I watch these dogs who get their ears nipped, cats who get smacked out of a nap, and despite BEING annoyed, they don't stop loving their packmate. After they finish play-fighting, they're back to snuggling and grooming and sleeping together. BEING annoyed is also just part of being in a social group and having relationships... and that's okay. It doesn't erase love or necessarily make them mad or affect them in the long term... a loved one being annoyed with me is a temporary feeling that's normal for social creatures. An annoyance that wouldn't be possible WITHOUT that love

Note for future self who doesn't have to go run errands at self-inflicted knifepoint
You're welcome, you badass bitch. P.S. Your hair looks great and your skin is glowing, autumn looks great on you
A dragon found a nice mountain to call home with plenty of wild goats to eat. Now why does it keep finding young human women tied up halfway to his cave?!

Intro and Tl;dr: I've got a fic idea that won't quit.
It's currently at war with the fear bred by five years of having ideas I was excited about, ideas I loved, and not being able to write any of them.
(When I say "unable," what I mean is, "It was like someone was physically holding my hands, refusing to let them move any time I tried." It even spread into journaling).
I know the solution at this point is to just sit and write. Write and write until it sinks in that I can again. But when you finally learn, kicking and screaming, to stop letting hope in, that's a tough one to crack.
Also makes you ask entirely uncomfortable and surly questions about what the point of those five godforsaken years was, if the switch was just going to flip back on for exactly as nothing a reason as it flipped off (which is just another layer of frightening). "Oh neat I can do the thing I could do before that was a primary source of joy and fulfillment. But... worse now? And I'm constantly afraid of it?"
Who designed this ride? They're bad at their job.
