On February 26th 2024 during a stream George Taylor commented “that was a perfectly reasonable exchange” in reference to Gale’s Weave lesson scene. I felt like it was 100% a way that Rolan might describe a romantic encounter, so I'm using it as inspiration for a fic. Here is some dialogue I'm working on as part of a fic called "A Perfectly Reasonable Exchange". (Edit: The completed fic can now be found here!)

            Rolan pushed open the door to Ramazith’s Tower. It was dark, the still air inside cool. He held the door firmly and gently, so that as he closed it slowly and deliberately into the frame not a sound was made. With soft steps he began to pick his way cautiously across the floor.

            “So?” Cal’s voice disrupted the charade.

            Damn it.

            “So what?” Rolan asked sharply, standing tall as he turned to face his siblings, mischievous expressions shining in the dim light.

            “Don’t usually skulk in like a damn goblin.” Lia rolled her eyes.

            “Oh, shut it,” Rolan muttered, quickly giving up on the farce. He intended that to end the conversation, but a blush that fluttered onto his cheeks betrayed him.

            “That good?” Cal said cheekily.

            “No.” Rolan replied quickly, “Well, not not good. I mean to say it was but not like that.”

            “Excellent use of language.” Lia noted.

“It’s how I’d want someone to describe a date with me.” Cal added.

“You two are insufferable.” Rolan failed to change the subject.

            “No details at all?” Cal ventured, leaning slightly forward.

            “We… talked.” Rolan offered.

            “Thrilling.” Lia said, deadpan. “Could’ve just told them you weren’t interested.”

            “You just talked?” Cal looked confused, “The whole time?”

            “Not the entire time.” Rolan said, a brief hesitation revealing more than he intended.

            “Oh Gods,” Cal held up his hands, “forget I asked.”

            “No, no,” Rolan waved the implication of his accusation away, “it was all… above board.”

            “Almost disappointed,” Lia said, “next time try something other than talking.”

            “Degenerates, that’s what you are.” Rolan said with an embarrassed chuckle.

            “Won’t you at least tell us how it went?” Cal asked, unwilling to let Rolan skirt around them completely.

“It was…”

Zevlor x absolutely anyone who will tell him he's beautiful and make him feel better. Zev is my favorite character. I've written and read him a dozen ways and it never gets old.

First ship: Thranduil and OC. Yeah, the Lee Pace one. I never uploaded it, but I put Adar in that story too. (Those two don't hook up, they just fight over the OC.) That’s definitely not my first one, but I've been writing stories since I was about 6 years old, so almost 40 years now and there's too many to list.
