11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?

I read some Jane Austen and The Picture of Dorian Gray, which I think count as being out for a while, and while I wouldn't say either is a favorite, I did enjoy them. For books I really liked, The Faded Sun trilogy by C.J. Cherryh from the 70s

25. What reading goals do you have for next year?

Finish 100 books, same as the last few years. Try and get through the 80s for award nominated scifi/fantasy by women. (Though I have more from the 80s than 50s-70s combined haha)

Romana and Leela for the Blingo Bobo

Sorry that I crashed last night before I could post the answer this!

It is amazing how through the power of Big Finish both of these women can be both complexly written and totally fucked over by bad writing all at once! Truly some stories and/or box sets are great, others... not so much, and sometimes a good story will be followed by a bad one in the same box/story arc and sometimes a story will be great in some ways and horrible and others.

For example, and this is a very minor example (I really could go on about how the writers let these ladies down all day and the lost potential with them both), imagine Leela the rational skeptic regularly pointing out how the Time Lords very much do have a personal religion based around worshiping their own inflated imagined sense of self importance and their legal code even when those laws are beyond irrational and cause harm to literally everyone, rather than the weird spirituality they assigned Leela to cling to even though the literal first thing we learned about her on TV was that she does not believe in her people's gods and would not lie about it under threat of death. I get they were allowing the actresses to dictate their characters (the many overt references to Dick Dorkins's books was really.... Yikes), but that is a fourth wall they could have maintained, thanks.

Five is asthmatic and has some sort of peripheral nerve damage in his legs (because his regeneration almost failed).

Time Lords are actually eldritch but normal humans can't tell because we can only perceive three dimensions at once.

River Song makes it out of the Library somehow.

The Spy Master first met the Doctor as 'O' when he was Eleven.

Sacha Dhawan plays a character called Reverend Matthew in the audio Ghost Walk, and I like to pretend it's the Master fucking around and being manipulative and shit in disguise. It's very entertaining, especially since a woman in his employ literally calls him Master at one point.

Evelyn knitted Seven's outfit.

Two and Jamie definitely had something going on.

Ood Sigma and hallucination Amy were Ten and Eleven's Watchers, respectively.

Eight is 'like that' (if you know you know) because the anesthesia Seven got delayed regeneration long enough that some of his brain started to die from lack of oxygen, bloodflow, etc etc.

If Survival had been a Sixey episode, he would have had a VERY different reaction to local catboy Master. (I said what I said.)

maybe the way I see it is that Romana is in some ways Narvin's one great love of his life. maybe not his truest, that would be Leela because his love for Romana is so tangled up in his foundational love for Gallifrey, but the greatest love of his life and the only one who can be described as such. but he's not Romana's greatest love. she might not have one or she might have more throughout the course of her lives. if anyone it's probably Leela. but Narvin is her truest love, whatever that may mean.

Whiff-ing! A B-52 refueling from KC-135 while performing a 70° Whifferdill turn. Back in the good ol' days of SAC, the Whifferdill turn was used as a tool for building confidence in Instructor Pilot candidates. The manoeuvre ended with SAC.
