#gallifrey is absolutely part of the polycule #which makes narvin leaving while romana is entombed in it - not just the planet but subsumed into the idea of gallifrey #makes all that extremely very (@whifferdills)

maybe the way I see it is that Romana is in some ways Narvin's one great love of his life. maybe not his truest, that would be Leela because his love for Romana is so tangled up in his foundational love for Gallifrey, but the greatest love of his life and the only one who can be described as such. but he's not Romana's greatest love. she might not have one or she might have more throughout the course of her lives. if anyone it's probably Leela. but Narvin is her truest love, whatever that may mean.

#lu i don’t know if you mean this the way i’m reading this #but this very much resonates with my point about how romana pins her self-worth to what Specific other people think of her #and thus emotionally implodes when that relationship fractures #except. she doesn’t do that with narvin. sure they start out hating each other but once they get out of that stage #from her end there’s a sort of steadiness to that relationship.#possibly i’m interpreting Great Love as the one they’ll go to terrifying extremes for #the one where losing that person untethers and destabilizes them #and true love as the one that they *also* click with but are more normal about #and i mean. yeah #when you look at narvin/romana she is way more normal about him than he is about her #at least circa 4-6 #they *become* more balanced; he *becomes* more normal about her #but he attaches So Much to her for a while there #narvin x romana #gallifrey audios #narvin #romana #also whifferdills had to include your tags because yeah yeah yeah #*him* of all people being the one to leave and her being the one who can’t let go of gallifrey #how at this point he *has* untethered romana from The Idea of Gallifrey (at least a fair bit) but *she* hasn’t untethered herself
