I think on the topic of #8, Dr. Spaulding saying "I've never hurt anyone gratuitously" about burning or butchering alive people kind of further makes the point of like, y'know, people are not entirely reliable narrators. Vic saying that he doesn't do the kind of things he's ashamed of anymore when just a few pages earlier it's implied that he beat up a guy (who was in a hospital already) for information. People won't say things that they did to reach a goal or further a cause are bad. To the person who did the action, it was necessary.
#seal.txt#book club#and you could make the point of the people spaulding and vic hurt are bad people#which of course the story wants you to think about when they have vic tell his story#there are no innocent people#a very interesting story.... very interesting....#i personally think Spaulding went too far... i think there were other options LOL but i can understand why he went the direction he did#everyone has fantasiesof making people theyhate suffer but I dont thinkputting them n saw traps or murdering them horribly is a good outlet

Okayyy soooo just another idea I had😅
Spencer x Morgan x teen!fem!reader
They are giving a lecture (?) about safety to readers class during a local case. After the students are dismissed, the reader approaches the guys and asks if she could talk to them privately. She tells them that her parents are the killers they are looking for and she tries to walk away as soon as she says so but derek grabs her arm to stop her and notices that she is practically skin and bones. Basically, they make her talk after making the teacher leave them alone. She confesses that they are not exactly the best parents but refuses to accept that she is being abused.
(Sorry this is so long)
Long story short, she wants to go away for college but can't do that because of them and recently found out about the killings they did so she is willing to tell on them as long as they don't know it's her. Maybe Morgan or reid end up giving her their number and kinda keeping in touch and after their arrest, reader sends a huge ass box of cookies to the team.
-✨
Spencer Reid x Derek Morgan x Teen Fem Reader
I loved this idea!
Third person pov...
It was no shock that the FBI were called in to catch the serial killer targeting people high schoolers in the Minnesota area, the team are on their way currently. "so lets talk victimology, They were all from the same Minnesota high school and had the same eye colour, hair colour and were the same age" Says Derek Morgan looking down at the file in his hands.
The team think. "from the looks of it they were kidnapped after school and then were killed, there wrists were slashed open, they were left to die slowly" says Emily, JJ shivers slightly.
"this unsub is Organised from how he abducts the girls, when he starts his torture he becomes sadistic and sloppy, I think we are dealing with two Unsubs" speaks Hotch the team think, it makes sense two unsubs.
"so a team, what are we thinking siblings, partners, friends, married couple" lists Rossi. "not sure yet" says JJ, then Penelope comes on the screen. "hello my lovely people, I have information about our Vics" says the usually bubbly woman.
"lets have it mama" says Derek, Penelope begins clicking away. "right one thing they all had in common was of course the age and same high school but they did all end up going to the same middle school near the where they were all found" says Penelope.
"I have sent you the coordinates, seen you later my loves".
"Thank you Garcia" Says Spencer.
Hotch closes the file "okay we are landing soon, Reid and Morgan you take the high school, at the minute we don't know enough about the unsubs so don't tell anyone yet, JJ and Rossi you go to the coroner's office, Prentiss you and I will set up at the station and work from the coordinates" says Hotch the team nod and the plane starts its decent.
Time skip...
It had been a day and the team know that the unsubs are a team, specifically a married couple, from how the bodied were place in an almost motherlike way, and there was no sexual assault, which indicate the girls are someone they are close to but instead hurt people who look like her.
Currently Morgan and Spencer have been tasked with going to the high school and giving the profile to the students and staff to see if they know anything or anyone who fits it.
"now guys if you see anyone who fits this profile make sure you call either the police or us my number is on the cards we gave out at the start, that's all be safe" says Derek, the students then begin getting up and leaving the hall where they gathered.
As they are getting ready to leave a teenager approaches them looking nervous, the H/C girl taps Morgans arms making the two turn around. "hey there you need something?" morgan askes her, she goes to speak but sees her teacher waiting.
"I need to speak to you privately"she whispers, Derek then motions to Reid and the three move out of the hall andoutside the school, once they are far enough away they talk. Derek turns to theteen. "so whats up?" he asks her, the girl hesitates looking around nervously before answering.
"I know who you are looking for, its my parents" she says before walking away, she doesn't get far before Derek grabs her arms stopping her. This makes the girl flinch derek notices.
He then notices how she is practically skin and bones. 'Unsub parents mean not good childhood' thinks the agent. "why tell us this?" asks Derek, the girl sighs knowing she wont be getting away now.
The teen known as Y/N L/N confesses that they are not exactly the best parents but refuses to accept that she is being abused. Long story short, she wants to go away for college but can't do that because of them and recently found out about the killings they did so she is willing to tell on them as long as they don't know it's her.
Derek and Spencer are shocked by the end of her story, the man smiles at her comfortingly. "but you have to promise you wont say who told you they arw the killer okay, they cant find out I told you if they do, ill be the next victim" she says seriously.
Derek and Spencer nod there heads they wont find out their own daughter told the FBI. "thank you for telling us, we promise we will do everything to put them away for good, heres my number call me if you need anything" says Morgan.
The teen tears up, she wraps her thin scarred arms around morgan. "r-really you will" she whimpers and she cried on his tshirt, the man looks at Reid who nods before hugging the girl back, knowing she needed the comfort.
"of course we will" he says, Y/N lets out a watery smile. 'finally ill be safe'
Time skip..
The team have caught Y/Ns parents as they were torturing their sixth and last victim, once they arrived back Morgan received a message from Y/N, she told him how she was being put with her grandparents who she never meet before and how happy she was that they caught them.
After that every few months a box of cookies would appear on Derek or Spencers desk, both knowing who is was from, it always came with a note and letter from Y/N she tells them about her life and makes sure to stay in contact with Derek, the man who saved her life.
The end!
Hope you liked this oneshot, so sorry for the grammar and spelling mistakes.
Request are open!

So yes this week we finally went to see the all new Garfield movie! and yes there of course was collectables that went with this one and you can see that here.
but as for Garfield I have been a fan of Garfield for most of my life. I didn't really read the strips in the paper but I use to read them is like collected book form I would get at the book fair as a kid. I watched the TV specials and the Garfield and Friends show Saturday mornings and I went to see the original "Garfield: The Movie" in like 2004 and I have it on DVD and I can also I can say that Garfield is a contributing factor in me wanting to be a cartoonist and eventually an animator.
So with this new movie I was very excited to see it and I can say I wasn't disappointed (even Garfield at the start says the movie won't disappoint and he was right lol) I felt it was cute, sweet, a bit silly at times, funny and a bit actiony too.
Now as for the story it is a bit of an origin story in a way where like in the trailer you see how he meets Jon and how they move into her house and get Odie and all that and it kinda explains the whole idea of the basic story of Garfield complete with a "I hate Mondays" montage which is pretty funny. It goes on to show their home life and Garfield growing from a kitten to the familiar fat cat. there are some funny references in there too. So as Garfield and his family settle into their perfect life it gets turned upside down when Garfield's father Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) appears and pretty much takes Garfield and Odie 2 in door pets on a wild outdoor adventure that is pretty much a comedic heist movie.
Now I thought the movie was great like I said it was very cute and sweet and funny. There is plenty of humor both through physical stuff and plenty of gags and references and I thought it was very cleverly written and you have to pay attention at times when the camera is on Garfield Odie will be in the background doing something strange or funny like the railroad sign gimmick made me laugh. Also it can be random funniness also like when they were getting on the train and the gag with the used catapult dealer gave me a laugh too.
Now as for the voice acting I thought it was good from everybody and I know some complained about Chris Pratt as Garfield. Now I can kinda see that its not like the Mario movie where I felt it wasn't noticeable but in this it is you can tell that it is him and you recognize the voice right away. I didn't feel that at times it wasn't overly noticeable but for the most part I think I know why they cast him because he has that somewhat personality/persona that fits the character of Garfield. but all I can say is he did just as good of a job as Bill Murray did in 2004 The one thing though is I'm not sure about Nicholas Hoult as Jon? I do like Nicholas Hoult I think he's awesome in everything I seen him in but him as the voice of Jon didn't really click with me? I mean that is pretty much the only complaint I have.
but yeah in the end the animation was amazing it was perfect for this and I feel that this was the best way to go for a Garfield movie because it looks like the comics. and I feel that is the Garfield movie you would expect to get and done in a way that matches what you know about the characters this is how it should be.
So yeah if you love or loved Garfield then I would highly recommend this one.

good morning! before the preview and the next chapter comes out there’s a few thoughts and questions I have that I want to put out to you if you have the time….
first, the sexualizing of Evelyn, a 15 year old girl who’s been described as flat chested and almost kind of child-like, by boys like Martin and Patrick during this story so far breaks my heart. I honestly don’t think it matter what she wore or how long her dress was, the truth is Martin simply had an opportunity to take advantage of her and it’s so sad because the situation she found herself in happens to so many young girls.
second, I’ve been completely team Vic for probably almost 20 chapters now… and I was wondering if or when Vic realized his feelings for Evelyn. was it when he saw Henry at her house and felt jealous? they seem to have a deep history, and Evelyn seems over him but I can still tell there’s lingering feelings there. I just can’t help but root for them…. I’d like to think it could come full circle once they both grow and mature throughout this story and they still could end up together (I’m probably delusional)
speaking of Vic, I’m not sure how your story will play out (which is the most exciting part of it for me) but thinking about how Evelyn would react to Henry murdering Vic (and Belch ofc)…. the heartbreak would be unbearable to read
lastly, I gotta know… Patrick. what the heck is up with that guy? I never know. I know you won’t tell but can you please let me know…. why Evelyn? what makes her so interesting to him? this doesn’t seem like just another obsession anymore. is she still just his play thing, or is he starting to feel something for her? maybe not love but anything for her? if not he needs to leave that poor girl alone (as fun as they are to read lol)
Sorry, I meant to answer this yesterday, but I was focused on cleaning up the preview and getting it ready.
Now let’s get to these questions!
1) I see what you're saying and to a certain extent I agree, especially because we know Patrick and Martin don't have the best intentions. However, I do wanna say that just because Evelyn doesn't have those womanly curves that doesn't mean she's a child or even like a child. Yes, technically and legally she's a child, but she's not a little kid. Evelyn's 15, almost 16, and she has the same urges as many other girls her age. I think we see a lot of the characters making a lot of false assumptions about Evelyn based on the image she projects at school. They think maybe she's a prude or she's super innocent and inexperienced, and that's just not true. Yes, she's not very experienced with sex, but she's not totally innocent. And she's definitely not some frigid little prude, either. She's just very private and protective over her love/sex life. That's why she gets so upset when Hannah-Beth starts gossiping about their classmates' sex lives. In her mind, that's nobody else's business. With that said, Evelyn's very aware of how people view her. She knows she's not as developed as the other girls, and although she tends to keep it to herself, she's very self-conscious about it. It makes her feel less like a woman. Evelyn wore that dress because she wanted people to see her differently. For once, she wanted to feel pretty and, yes, maybe even a little sexy because she doesn't usually get that kind of attention from guys (sure, she’s caught Bill and Stan checking her out before, but that’s not exactly something she can brag about 😂). But she wants it. And it's completely okay for her to want that. So there's nothing inherently wrong with anyone sexualizing Evelyn. What's wrong is Martin taking Evelyn's completely healthy and natural desire (her decision to wear that dress) and turning it into something nasty and worthy of shame. Plus the sexual assault, of course, but that goes without saying.
2) I can't speak about this too much because it’s going to spoil some important moments I have planned, but Vic and Evelyn have a pretty deep and complicated history. As we know, Evelyn developed a major crush on him when they were kids and she never really tried to hide it. When Evelyn likes someone, she wants to be around them all the time, and that can be very overwhelming for someone like Victor. So to kind of answer your question, I think Vic was always aware of his feelings for Evelyn. He just needed time to properly process it. Unfortunately, he took too long and Evelyn moved on.
Of course, it’s not easy to get over your first crush, so Evelyn definitely still has some lingering feelings for him. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t explored an ending where they end up together, but nothing’s set in stone yet. He and Evelyn would need to sit down and have an honest conversation about a lot of things before they can have a successful relationship. Until Vic is ready to be honest about everything that happened in the past, Evelyn’s gonna be guarded and hesitant.
3) Finally, with Patrick… yeah, again, I can’t really answer that directly because it’ll spoil major plot points, but clearly he’s drawn to her, right? I mean, he called her ‘colorful’ and that’s basically the equivalent of calling someone beautiful, at least in Patrick’s eyes. (It’s pretty romantic, honestly, but I digress.)
Basically, Patrick’s been drawn to Evelyn from the beginning of the story. Way before Patrick decided to mess with Henry, Evelyn was already on his radar. The funny thing is, even he couldn’t seem to understand why. One of the first things he says to Evelyn is “I’ve seen you before. Where have I seen you?” He says it was the bullying video, but… was that really it? 🤔💭
Sorry, I wish I could say more about that, but I’d rather show it in the story. The next part is really Patrick-focused, so a lot of those questions will be answered then. 😊

Holy Seven Subscriptions, Batman!
So I’ve been reading a lot of comics lately. Like, a lot of comics. I’ve been going out on a limb, and honestly? It’s paid off! Yes, I’ve gotten to read solid comic book storytelling recently - and lots of it. And what do I have to show for it?
Seven different subscriptions to DC comics series, and one to a Marvel comic series. :’)
[Spoilers for various comics! If you see the title of a book you don’t wanna get spoiled on, leave!]
If you’ve been following me for the past several months, you’ve probably heard me rave about the current ongoing Catwoman comic series as it’s been written by Tini Howard. You’ve probably also heard me blab about the latest Harley Quinn series since Tini Howard took it over. Both comics are absolute delights that I’ve had a blast with, but that I’ve also talked at length about, so… won’t be going into that. Not this time, at least.
And that includes you, Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain, also written by Tini Howard!
So what does that leave us? Well, why don’t we start with Batman! Written by Chip Zdarsky. At this point I really should start expecting it, but I keep being surprised by just how dang much I’m enjoying myself with this series! It’s got action, it’s got Batman coming down from the Moon to land back on Earth, it’s got it all!
With stories as convoluted as the series has been telling, I really would’ve thought it all would’ve come unraveled several issues ago—after all, how the hell could a story take Batman to the Moon, back to Earth, into another damn dimension, rapidly jumping through several damn dimensions, and then back to whatever we call main Earth??? By doing it all very well, apparently!
Next we have Poison Ivy, which I read on the glowing recommendation of my partner in life and in love, Cluster! I spent weeks telling them I’d get around to reading it eventually, then one day this past week I went and read all 13 issues that’re out right now. And what’s there to say about them? Well…
They’re great! They’re all fucking great! I’ve never blown through 13 issues so quickly, but G. Willow Wilson had such an impressive story to tell that I couldn’t stop for anything. Pamela’s great in it, so is Harley when she eventually shows up, and so is… Batman! Didn’t know he’d be part of this series, but it works!
G. Willow Wilson is another writer, like Tini Howard, where whenever I see her write a character I just want to see her write them all the time. I dunno, if perhaps they could just hand the keys to the whole damn DC Universe to these gals I think we’d be onto something!
Besides that, Cluster and I finally said “what the hell” and read through all 9 issues that’re currently out of The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing. The verdict?
It made us laugh~
To be more specific, Matthew Rosenberg does an excellent job of making a hilarious and entertaining Joker comic series that features a metric fuck-ton of Joker in it. There’s so much of The Joker, there’s actually two men called The Joker in it!… Or three. Well, the third one was impersonating the first one. Or is it the second one?
It’s these sorts of questions that any Joker series worth its seltzer would have readers asking! I’m really glad we’ve taken a chance on this series, after spending months joking about its very silly title that doesn’t seem to actually tie into the story itself so far. We’ll see if there’s any further developments on that front later!
Last month and this month, however, I started on two brand new limited series! Limited series that I wish were ongoing series, and that I hope end up becoming ongoing series when they hopefully do ridiculously-well! I am of course referring to the latest volume of Cyborg, and Steelworks!
For Cyborg, I’m really interested to see where it goes. Morgan Hampton made known his intentions of taking Vic in a direction we’ve not seen before, ahead of issue #1’s release, and the sudden death of Vic’s father Silas proved he meant it.
While Silas died very early on in the original continuity Vic lived in, his presence after the New 52 reboot was used to great effect in David F. Walker’s Cyborg issues. Lots of work was done expanding on their fraught relationship, but it looks like we’ve closed the book on that before it could reach a happy ending… or have we???
There’s a lot to take in, a brief appearance from the Titans that made my heart swell, and overall I felt like the first issue set us up nicely for a damn good story—one that, again, I’d love to see turn into an ongoing series, but we can’t have everything all the time.
Steelworks had another strong beginning with issue #1, which came out… this month! I’d been anticipating it since its initial announcement, and Michael Dorn did not disappoint in the writing department. I’d also like to give a special shoutout to Sami Basri and Andrew Dalhouse for their contributions in the art department (line art and coloring, respectively)!
It’s not every day I get to read a comic that just looks as good as comics used to back when I was taking good comic art for granted, but Steelworks #1 is a damn good-looking comic! With art this solid, there’s nothing interrupting me from getting sucked into the story - and damn if this isn’t the beginning of a story that immediately grabbed me!
Something that’s easy to take for granted, but that not every comic manages to pull off, is telling a story that wins you over on its ideas. Maybe this is just me being picky, but I’ve read a comic or two in the past year that’ve gone really hard on the moral core of a story that I just… really can’t relate to. You’d think superhero comics wouldn’t have such a hard time being relatable to someone who doesn’t want people to spend the rest of their natural lives rotting in prison or whatnot, but you’d be surprised.
Steelworks #1 starts with a bang. With ideas that’re bold, and probably outside the realm of what people usually look for in a superhero comic, but that I can honestly sympathize with. No one comes off as a two-dimensional cardboard cutout, everyone feels real and able to be connected with at least on some level.
It’s a limited series, but if it does well enough? Who knows what could happen. In this case, I don’t know that they could’ve gotten Michael Dorn for longer than just a limited series’ run, so there are benefits to the format!
So yeah. That’s now seven subscriptions to DC comics series, to only one that Marvel’s been able to put out.
Does DC know it doesn’t have to be winning so hard at comics? It would’ve been fine if they were just putting out a couple good series here and there, which I thought they were before I gave these other series a try. Turns out, they’re really putting out some quality shit!
And I still have Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor to start picking up next month! Geez!
I’m a very happy camper when it comes to comics, nowadays. Right now, I only have one comic series I pick up every month that routinely and utterly disappoints me. I may end up writing about it on this blog, in lieu of tweeting, what with how its fanbase just loves to tank my mental health with threats & harassment!
Until next time!

What if, in All My Friends.../Devils, Thomas had stayed with Vivi for longer than he actually did (still way too long in mu opinion). Or maybe instead of Vivi, he started dating a lady who actually liked him and understood him and didn't force him to move to LA and all his friends likes her? I'm really breaking my own heart here lol.
Hi, thanks for the question <3
So, I know, I said this before but this little universe was never supposed to get a happy end until it eventually did. And there's probably a lot more to consider than just Vivi in Thomas' life to be fair, but it is a big part, so I understand where the question is coming from.
Staying with Vivi longer: (I get this sentiment but I don't think it was that easy for him to get out of this relationship than it might have seemed) I think that we can all agree on one thing, that staying with Vivi would have been a terrible idea. Let's say after that fight and her being threatening what if he would have stayed in the end because he would have been afraid of the consequences. Maybe it would have been at least okay for a little while, he would have married her instead of going back to Rome. That would have been the reason to break the band up probably, him still in Los Angeles, where he doesn't want to be and Vivi actually getting what she wants, all his attention and him to herself. Ethan or Vic or both seeing the scars on his back and the broken pieces only sosososososo much later when they finally reach out because they are worried about him. I think Thomas staying with Vivi for longer would have broken him, a lot more than he even already is in the normal course of the story. And I think Vic and Ethan would have a much harder job to get ahold of him, because I don't think, he would have had a chance to get out of this himself after this point. But I also think that at this point, Ethan would reach out to Reader, he wouldn't just say "Can you get in touch with him", I think he would really tell her what is happening and that he needs someone who he trusts and is loving and careful with him, not for them to get back together (because lets be honest, it's probably too late for that in this kind of scenario), just so someone is there for Thomas, someone he actually wants to have there.
Someone who isn't Vivi: You might find out that scenario soon ... So ... The thing, or the problem, is this story never existed without Vivi in my head. She will always be part of this little universe, even with all the what if's, I guess. But let's pretend there's someone after Vivi, someone who actually loves him, his friends like, because they are lovely and funny and they can all see that they're good for Thomas. A lovely couple. Maybe it would make it easier to see Reader, maybe. Maybe it would make it easier to not run away from her, maybe. Maybe it would make it easier to see her happy with Pedro, maybe. Maybe they would even talk for real, maybe. Maybe it would make it easier for him when Vic only tells him years later that Reader broke down in her arms when Thomas left, maybe. Maybe it would make all easier to stomach. But ... The thing is he wouldn't be happy. Which maybe would make it worse, because he knows he should be, he should be happy with what he has because it isn't bad, it's quite good actually. But he isn't happy, not at all. And I actually think this is Thomas' "What if" scenario because that would be something he would think about a lot, what if.
I hope that answers the question <3
#you get the gist#this thomas was never supposed to be happy any other way#thanks for the question. i love talking about that story#ask#anon

Listed: IMustBe Leonardo
IMustBe Leonardo is a Berlin-based songwriter who has been making his oddball songs since around 2016. His latest album, Not To Be Scared of Weekend, is a self-recorded delight, entirely unfettered by commercial considerations — with one song that asks the eternal question, “Why should...you need god…when you have Kim Gordon?” Writing about it, Jennifer Kelly said, “About half the tracks are hand-made rock songs, bolstered by clicky drum tracks and ravaged guitar tones. The other half are the maddest, most surreal campfire songs you ever heard, gently strummed but extremely odd.” Leonardo wrote us one of the nicest — and longest — thank you notes we’ve ever received at Dusted, so of course we asked him for a Listed.
Nina Simone — An Artist's Duty
youtube
What she says in these 51 seconds, the way she asks that question at the end — everything is there.
Typhoon — Sympathetic Magic
This album was released in January 2021. Kyle Morton is a poet and a great songwriter. His notes to the album tell all you need to know: “The songs are about people — the space between them and the ordinary, miraculous things that happen there, as we come into contact, imitate each other, leave our marks, lose touch. Being self and other somehow amounting to the same thing.” He played a solo gig in Berlin, on June 17, 2023. I asked him to play my favorite song, “And So What If You Were Right.” He did it. He said it was the first time he played it in public. That was a gift.
Maryam Moghaddam and Behtash Sanaeeha — Ballad Of A White Cow
youtube
There is almost only love in this movie, and all that love leads only to suffering. It terrifies me to see how often “doing the right thing” and well-intended lies destroy good people’s lives.
Emma Ruth Rundle — Engine of Hell
This album is a pulsing heart in the shape of a songwriter sitting in front of us, playing piano or classical guitar, and singing her story. “I wanted to be close to the listener and be whispering to you. I wanted to be close on an emotional level. Because I wanted to connect with myself on an emotional level, ” she said about this record. It takes courage to do this. It also takes a little bit of courage to stay in front of her and look at her fragile, invincible grace. Sonny Diperri, who recorded and produced this terrific record, is a great sound engineer and a lucky guy.
Christian Petzold — Undine
youtube
Art is proof that people can find infinite ways to create beauty, as long as they believe they truly need to love. Undine is a work of art. It not only is a truly original, touching movie about love. It is an act of love, made by people who can’t stand living in a society willing to humiliate and lose it.
Vic Chesnutt — At The Cut
Maybe one day our species will ignore what anguish is, and we will not even be allowed to mention the word. Someone will consider this “progress.” I don't see any progress in not feeling moved by what Vic Chesnutt — and every person involved in those sessions — did in this album.
Aki Kaurismaki — Ariel
youtube
I love Kaurismaki's cinema. I’m mentioning Ariel here just because it is probably my favorite... today. (For the record, it contains the best bank robbery scene in the film history.) If I ask myself why I love his movies so much, one reason I can put into words is that all his characters are condemned to the tragic and funny punishment of knowing what truly makes human beings happy. They are such stuff as the Tramp is made on.
This Mortal Coil — Blood
youtube
I put this album in my CD player recently, after several years, and started listening to it with the state of mind of someone who’s going to meet an ex-lover and is scared of not feeling anything. I was wrong. It still asks me the same beautiful question: “Did you really think you knew which kind of songs you like?”
Hirokazu Kore-eda — Shoplifters
youtube
I see Kore-eda as a sort of photo reporter who goes around and, almost by mistake, takes poetic pictures of fragments of happiness that — tomorrow — will not be there anymore. Laws were supposed to be instruments by which people pursued well-being. This movie shows how society rules are sometimes not ready to handle real life. They can end up killing what they should preserve, and it looks like a frighteningly stupid scenario.
New Pollution — Kiss The System
New Pollution is not just a band — it’s a no-filter attitude. They're the most contemporary group I know. I cannot imagine someone attending a New Pollution gig and not getting captured. There is spontaneity and freedom in everything they do — on stage and online. They keep releasing whatever they record (concerts, demos, soundtracks, studio sessions) and mocking all the show business rules. Nowadays musicians — indie ones more than others — are like bank clerks, each one with their daily plans: x hours of social media, x hours emails to labels, x hours emails to magazines... Music seems to be the last thing you should care about — and you're supposed to be a musician! New Pollution they don't care. “Revolution was your spare time,” they sing. I think Patrick Jessop has an instinctive awareness of how ephemeral existence is and I hope he never loses it.

The Hard-J (Victor Creed x Reader)
A/N: I know I said it would be ready by the weekend but... it wasn’t! Excuses only work for those that make them, so I won’t bother lmao~ This one is for @queengiuliettafirstlady and everyone else that loves a little Victor Creed intensity. ♥
“Can we not do this today, please?”
“What the hell was that about?” He slammed the door after him as I went to my kitchen to put groceries away.
“He saw me walking back from the store, that’s it.”
“That’s it, huh? What did I say about hangin’ out with him?”
“We weren’t hanging out! I told you, he saw me walking and he was helping me carry a few things. That. Is it.”
“You see how he talks to me? How he’s always talked to me-“
“-I see two brothers who, for whatever reason, can’t seem to hack it.”
“We aren’t brothers.”
I rolled my eyes, shoving my peanut butter and fudge swirl ice cream into the freezer. “Brothers in arms.”
“Because there’s no damn respect! Always lookin’ down at me like he’s some kinda fuckin’ superior.”
“Vic…”
“I don’t want you around him. You hear me?”
I let out an exasperated sigh as I rolled my eyes. “It’s too hot to argue about this shit.”
“You’re the one arguing instead of just agreeing, Y/N.”
“Your relationship with Logan is just that: yours. I have no problem with the guy.”
“If I see you two together again-“
“- Do not end that sentence with a threat, Victor-“
“- I’ll do you one better and end it with a guaran-fucking-tee!”
“We live in the same city, I’m bound to run into him sometimes!”
“Y/N look at me… Hey!” He shouted, making me jump out of my skin as I gave him my undivided attention. Clearly he was serious, which he tended to be. But this time, more serious than normal.
He was always so very dead serious whenever we talked about Logan.
“I don’t care if you’re next door neighbors with him. If I see you two with each other again, it will not end well.”
“For him? Or for me?”
“Both o’ you.”
I stared him down and watched him do the same, his face cold hard steel, not even a muscle flexing as he spoke to me. “What the hell happened between you two, anyway?” I asked. “What did he do that’s so damn bad you’re forbidding me to even say hi? He kill your cat or somethin’?”
He smirked and let out a huff of a chuckle, his left fang peeking from behind his lips. “You think I’m kiddin’?”
I rolled my eyes and pushed him away from me to continue putting the food away. “Yeah, sure. Whatever. I’ll stay away from him, Victor. Whatever the hell makes-” I couldn’t finish my sentence before I heard the loud crash of glass breaking. I whipped around and saw a wet puddle dripping on my wall, the floor beneath it decorated with broken glass and what was a very nice bouquet of assorted flowers. “Are you shitting me?!”
“Oh, I got your attention now?”
“You had it! You’re throwing a temper tantrum, breaking my shit, all because you’re jealous of someone I’m not even interested in?”
“Jealous?” he questioned as he slowly stalked towards me, like a predator carefully eyeing its prey. I was no stranger to Victor's temper; under the right circumstances, he could go from settled to up in flames with the snap of a finger. Maybe it’s because he was never really at ease, always ready to pounce at any moment’s notice if necessary. Yeah, I know he has little patience and is kinda trigger happy to get into a fight, his own source of entertainment. But that was with other people, strangers. With me, he exercised a lot more restraint. We’d have arguments, he’d yell, maybe hurt a wall and then storm off.
But whenever Logan was involved, it was a different story...
“You need to relax,” I warned as I slowly backed away from him, ready to defend myself if necessary, even if I knew it was a losing battle.
“Did you just say I was jealous of him?”
“Are you?”
“What reason do I have to be jealous?”
“You tell me. What is it, Vic? You think I’m gonna run off with him into the sunset? You come over here one day to see me, all my shit is packed up and I leave a note behind? I doubt he’d throw my shit around like you just did.”
“I bought you those damn flowers,” he growled.
“You gonna buy the replacements too?” I asked playfully, trying to diffuse the tension but failing. It was painfully obvious, literally, he wasn’t in the mood to play when I felt his fist grip me like a boa constrictor. He forced my head against the kitchen cabinet behind me and got close to my face. If he moved any closer he’d be able to taste the chive cream cheese bagel I had on the way over here.
“Now that all depends…”
“Victor, let go of me. Now.”
“What’s the matter, hm? I thought you liked it rough?” he spoke with a tone of warning before a lecherous grin spread across his face. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t release a flutter deep in my belly, my incessant desire for him threatening to surface. It was embarrassing and admittedly disgusting to me, how even in moments as such, there was always going to be some shred of me that could neither ignore nor deny my constant thirst for him to satisfy me in ways only Victor knew how.
“You’ve made your point.” I tried to remain calm while fighting for air. I was willing to bet money that he could feel my pulse quickening beneath his grip. If even one of his claws came out I’d be bleeding out all over the linoleum.
“Have I?”
“You have five seconds to get the fuck off of me... or I walk.” He stared me in the eye only a few seconds longer before relinquishing his grip. If there was anything I caught on to in the seven months we’ve been seeing each other, if that’s even what you wanna call him dropping by for food, sex and quality conversation with a solid night’s rest, it’s that he actually greatly enjoyed having me in his life. He would never admit it, of course, being the poster boy for hypermasculinity; no way he’d display the level of emotion required to confess he liked me. But I picked up on it in subtle ways he probably doesn’t even notice. The way he throws his arm over me in his sleep, subconsciously keeping me in place with him. The way he came over and pretended it was just for sex, when we wouldn’t wind up having sex at all. The flowers he bought me, before throwing them to the wall in a rage. Most importantly, the way he wouldn’t stay gone long after a fight and would come back with his tail tucked in ready to apologize, afraid that would be the fight that finally scared me off and into the arms of someone else. I wasn’t using that to my advantage here, but I was letting him know what we both knew but never spoke of:
He wanted me around. He liked me.
I took a moment to allow oxygen to return to my lungs before I addressed him. “I pushed a button o’ yours with that little J-word?”
“What on Earth gave you that idea?” he asked sarcastically.
I nodded. “Fine. Noted. But I promise you, next time you use your words, because if you ever think about putting your hands on me again-”
“-Now you’re ending sentences with threats?”
“Guarantees, right?” I stalked to the corner of the kitchen and grabbed the broom that was wedged between the wall and my fridge then slammed it into his chest. “Dust pan behind the fridge,” was all I said before making my way to the bedroom.
“We’re not done-”
“-I am.” The moment I turned the corner out of the kitchen he was following me, the broom loudly clapping against the kitchen floor. The same hand that was just wrapped tightly around my throat was now finding its way around my waist along with his other one, pressing me to the wall. “Victor-“
“-I’ll getcha new flowers.”
“Fuck the flowers and fuck you.” He wasn’t hearing any of it. He grabbed my wrists and began making his way to the couch, my legs clumsily bumping into any and everything I walked towards.
“I’m not gonna pour my heart out an’ tell you all the fucked up things about me, if that’s what you’re waitin’ for me to do.”
“Mutant in human world. It’s not hard to figure out.”
“And I’m not tellin’ you the textbook of reasons I’m not holdin’ hands with him either.”
“And I’m not agreeing to stay away from him for your reasons and personal grudges unknown.”
“So maybe I didn’t make myself as clear as I thought.” Before I was aware the back of my legs bumped into the arm of my couch. I was desperate to create some sort of distance between us, so I fell backwards and wiggled away to the far opposite end of the couch. He stood at my feet and without breaking eye contact, lifted the loose black henley from his chest. He was possibly the only person I knew that could wear black and long sleeves in the peak of a summer in the city without breaking a sweat. But now wasn’t the time to be impressed by minor things.
“It’s too hot for this, too.”
“You tellin’ me no?”
“Yes!”
“Why?” he asked as he continued advancing in my direction, fumbling with the belt on his jeans as he kicked his shoes off.
“Because I don’t feel like it. You’re not about to makeup sex your way out of putting your hands on me, dick.”
He shrugged to himself. “You never turned it down before.”
“Well, you know what they say the definition of insanity is, right…”
“Doin’ the same shit, expecting different results.”
“And I want different results, Victor.”
“Fine. So let’s try somethin’ different.” Without a word or warning he bent down and scooped me up, a hand firmly resting under each of my thighs, my legs snaked around his waist. I thought he was headed towards the bedroom, but he took a surprising left turn to the apartment balcony, gripping me tightly before using a hand to open the sliding glass door. The humidity instantly smothered me, my glasses fogging from the shock of being exposed to the summer heat after leaving my air conditioned living room. He sat in one of the wicker seats of my patio set and placed me in his lap, lifting my sundress so I could straddle him free of obstruction. He placed me directly onto his cock and was not gentle about it; my head instantly fell back as a rush of air escaped my chest, my hands finding his neck.
“Fuck,” I whispered.
“Exactly.”
“Shut the hell up.” There was no time for playful banter. The sun had only just started to set, meaning there was still plenty daylight for us to be seen; this had to be quick. And quiet. Quiet would be the hard part without a doubt. With his help, I lifted my body up and down, his fingertips digging into my hips as he held tightly to my waist. “Holy shit, Vic.”
“Still think I’m jealous?”
I grinned to myself. “I dunno; you’re fuckin’ me like you got somethin’ to prove,” I teased. Clearly there was jealousy but I knew better than to answer him with a yes. But if jealousy is this good a sexual motivator, I’d be happy with this silver lining to our fight. He lifted my dress up more, enough for him to expose my tits and seize my right one with his mouth. My head fell back, a cry escaping me when I felt the sharp stab of his teeth on the mound of flesh. “Fuck!” He growled, his mouth vibrating slightly around my nipple.
“Ya still gonna run away and leave a note?” he asked, the heat from his mouth making toes curl.
“Never.” Unless he pushed me to it, of course.
I felt the pads of his fingertips press my scalp, my hair tightly intertwined in his digits as he pulled my head back and forced me to make eye contact. “Don’t threaten to walk again.”
I rolled my eyes. “Or else?” I mocked.
He shook his head, his pelvis ceasing, the rapid rise and fall of our chests the only movement remaining between us. “No. Just don’t.”
I stared at him a moment longer and simply nodded before standing and turning around, lifting my dress over my head, then taking the rusty balcony rail in my hands to steady myself. I turned to look at him; to my surprise he was already stroking himself in the absence of something else warm wrapped around his cock. “Whatcha waitin’ for?”
“Can’t enjoy the view?”
“Enjoy it any longer and I’m gonna melt.”
“Someone other than me hungry for it?” he said with a hard slap to my right cheek before roughly re-entering from behind, making me jerk forward into the hot metal rail. I grunted at the pain in effort not to be too loud and settled comfortably on him, my body fitting him like a glove. He was in no way gentle as he thrust himself in and out of me, primal grunts escaping his chest every time his hips rammed into my ass. My tits would surely be bruised the way I was uncomfortably pressed into the railing. I stared at the rusted and flaking metal coating of the bars beneath my arms and fought to keep my legs from collapsing beneath me, every bone in my limbs turning to apple sauce, my muscles sore and aching. If only this kind of workout kept me in shape and was doctor recommended. And quiet as I was, there was nothing I could do to muffle the loud smack that echoed in the air when Victor got slap happy, or the sound that came from my mouth as a result. The funny thing was, the more I tried to shush him, the more intensely he fucked me, and the more sound we both ended up making.
“Sss, holy fuck! Fuck fuck fuck, Vic! Shit!” I cried out, the restraint I had for my volume loosening. On a slower day I would have had a bit more self control, but I never lasted long, or quietly, when he was in a more animalistic mood.
“Mm, that’s right,” he grunted, digging his fingers into my hip bones. “Lemme have it, baby.” And before I knew it I did exactly that. My legs gave out beneath me and I fell to my knees, failing to hold myself up on the balcony railing any longer as I came. My moans were beyond stifling, and I felt nothing else, not even the pools of sweat pouring out of me. For just a moment I’d fallen into a deep well of ecstasy, my head throbbing from the mix of summer heat and pleasure, before I regained some composure to return the favor.
I grabbed the thin cushion from my patio chair and placed it at his feet and knelt before him, taking him into my mouth as deep as I could. As hungrily as I could. Without hesitation his hands flew to my head, cradling the back of my skull and maneuvering me to a pace of his pleasure. “Atta girl,” he encouraged. He knew I was a sucker for praise, and after being a complete asshole I was expecting him to lay it on with the ass kissing for the rest of the evening. Now he had me working like I was the jealous one, when really I was only in competition with myself; I wanted to see if I could make him cum quicker than any of the other times I did this. I worked my head in a swivel and both of my hands in opposing twisting motion, pulling him into me as far as I could without biting off more than I could chew. It was useless, however, since Victor was determined to push my head down way past my limits. His hips undulated as he thrust his dick deeper and deeper into my throat. He’d momentarily pause and hold his place before pulling out to allow me to draw air, all before repeating the process. “Look at me,” he demanded, which was all he needed to say for me to know what time it was. I stared upwards at him with his cock still in my mouth, my eyes glassy with tears, and he pushed himself deep into my throat one final time and pumped the tip of his dick at the back of my throat. He held eye contact for as long as he could before his head fell backwards, eyes slamming shut as I felt the muscles of his thighs tighten. He grunted a low, beastlike growl before I felt him release all he had to offer in my throat, the sensation slightly tickling. I slowly jerked his dick off for good measure to ensure I got him for every drop before swallowing the thick, sticky fluid, swirling my tongue around his tip before he removed himself from my mouth.
“Ah, Jesus fuck,” he sighed, his chest rising and falling as he tried to recover.
“I think I missed that Sunday school lesson.” He rolled his eyes and looked down at me, head still resting in his lap, before rising and extending a hand. I grabbed and he pulled me up, coming face to face with him and the wild grin plastered on his face. “Back inside before my ass gets covered in bug bites.”
“I could scratch it for ya,” he offered, running a claw harmlessly up my spine. I shivered and pushed away from him before round two threatened to begin, sliding the balcony door open, relieved once the ice cold air conditioning hit my chest.
“No thanks. But you absolutely can buy me another bouquet of flowers. And a vase, while you’re at it.”

I kinda find it funny how, if Ed didn't break up with Bella and then chase after Victoria in NM, we might not have gotten the events of Eclipse. Girl was just vibing with her makeshift "guards," and he had to mess it all up by having her see how newborn armies work and inspire her. Do you think Vic would've still would've gone after Bella if not for NM's events (and how it'd go down)? Cause low key I think it's funnier if she wasn't a danger but Ed made her into one jfksaldjf.-Sw
I think she would have.
True, Victoria comes up with the newborn army scheme after Edward chases her down to Mexico, but she also doesn't use it right away. She tests the waters in Forks for a very long time before she decides to invade.
In other words I, sigh, agree with Edward on this: Victoria was coming back to murder Bella Swan in vengeance no matter what was happening.
Without the newborn army, however, things would have played out very differently.
A Bit on the Romantic Tragedy Penned by Edward Cullen
First, a note, Edward had always intended to leave Bella. From the moment he realized he was in love with her he told himself that he would one day leave her. It was just a matter of when.
In Twilight, he's torn. He knows he shouldn't be a part of her life, that bringing her into his world almost necessitates her becoming a vampire, but he also really doesn't want to let her go. He doesn't think he's strong enough to do it.
And as Bella keeps getting herself into danger he gives himself more and more excuses.
If he's not there, then Bella will get crushed by a van or raped in an alley or eaten by bears. Her number's up, and Edward is single handedly fighting fate to keep this angel alive.
Bella needs Edward, therefore he can't possibly go.
The birthday party put things back into perspective. Edward's family is the most dangerous threat to Bella there is, Edward himself really may lose control one day and devour her, and unless she turns (which Edward absolutely does not want) then she has no future with him.
The family has to leave now.
However, if there's no birthday party, then Edward doesn't have that catalyst and reminder. He likely decides to himself that he will leave Bella after graduation, his family will move towns, Bella will attend whichever university she attends, and he will have had a few wonderful years with Bella pretending he's a regular high school boy dating a regular high school girl.
When Bella then dies a natural human death sometime later, Edward will go to Volterra and kill himself (and force the Volturi's hand when Aro refuses to do it).
Of course, he'd probably break here too, but that's a different story.
I do think without Jasper's slip up and the birthday party, that Edward would have stuck around for New Moon.
The World Without Bella's Birthday Party
Bella throws the fit she didn't in canon.
She doesn't want this birthday party, she never asked for this birthday party, AND WHY DOES BELLA ALWAYS HAVE TO HUMOR ALICE?!
Bella has had a summer filled with Alice. In canon, this was a delight, in this world Bella realizes that maybe they spend most of their time doing what Alice wants to do rather than what Bella wants to do.
Alice is clearly throwing this party for Alice's sake, everyone knows it, and Edward tells her, "Please humor my sister and be a good sport."
Isn't this party supposed to be about Bella?
Alice is terribly upset and does not handle any of this well, Edward tells Bella to be reasonable and be the better person and give Alice this party, Rosalie thinks this is all petty bullshit but has mild respect for Bella on calling Alice out on this, and Carlisle is rubbing his temples somewhere trying to let the children deal with this themselves.
In the end, they compromise, Bella's birthday is Edward taking her out to dinner at an expensive restaurant in Seattle of Alice's choice, Bella wearing a fancy Chanel dress that Alice selected for her.
Bella's still embarrassed and miserable, but at least there aren't a billion pink candles.
As a result, there's no birthday party, no papercut, and no dumping.
The next several months instead are spent with Bella and Alice in a battle of wills and a real rough spot in their friendship. Bella tries to explain to Edward that Alice treats her like a doll, not a person.
Edward, of course, has no idea what she's talking about.
Bella fails to realize that Edward also treats her like a doll and not a person.
Laurent's Scouting Mission
As in canon, Laurent is probably sent by Victoria to scout. Victoria probably never left the area which means (remember this is book universe where Riley was in California) that she never turned Riley.
Without being all over the Forks area killing hikers, probably fewer wolves are turned. Yes, the Cullens are in the area, but they've been there three years, are very non-threatening, and in that time only Sam shifted.
We don't see the deluge of shifting until after the Cullens have left and Victoria starts actively attacking the area.
(Yes, this is worthy of a meta but that meta is not this meta)
Regardless, Laurent shows up, Sam's not sure if he's one of those friends of the Cullens or not, and Laurent walks in to see that all the Cullens are there.
Just like he expected.
Because Victoria has sent him to die.
Carlisle feels a headache coming on but is not shocked to see that Laurent's eyes are red again after only a few months. (Though this explains the sobbing phone call that Carlisle got from Irina asking if he'd seen Laurent because that beautiful, perfect, man has gone missing!)
Laurent provides some weasley bullshit explanation anyway. He asks, though it's really more of a demand, that he join the Cullen coven (much larger than the Denali, very gifted, and very powerful). Carlisle says no, Laurent has to stick to the diet if he joins the coven and he has to mean it. Given Laurent's current appearance, it seems as if Laurent is not willing to do that.
Laurent then begs them to let him stay: Victoria will murder him otherwise (and oh by the way she's after your Lunchable Bella Swan). That gets Edward into action, he demands Laurent's death and that he then hunt down Victoria personally.
Carlisle politely suggests that Laurent, rather than seek shelter from them who he knows Victoria intends to cross paths with, go back to the Denali and give the diet another whirl.
Laurent flees back to the Denali, Irina is ecstatic to see him. Victoria's not even surprised.
The family discusses what to do about Victoria. Carlisle would rather not hunt this woman down on hearsay alone. Jasper thinks they should have killed her to start and letting her escape was foolishness, he told them she'd be back. Edward for once is with Jasper, Victoria must be destroyed before she can harm Bella. They look to Alice and, yeah, there's a good possibility that Victoria will be back.
Edward is torn between hunting down Victoria and protecting Bella in person. Jasper leaves before he can make the decision, which of course angers Edward beyond belief, but, well, he guesses it is what it is.
Edward decides to not tell Bella that a vampire is after her life: it'll just worry her.
Jasper's Hunting Mission
Jasper likely has a devil of a time catching Victoria, as he did the first time, because of her gift. He ends up having very long phone calls with Alice as he tries to coordinate a successful solution to this.
Because Edward never left Bella, she never sought out Jake. She never forms her friendship with Jake nor realizes the secret behind the shapeshifters.
Billy tries to give Bella a few more ominous warnings but there's no getting through to this girl.
Edward never proposes to Bella because he's intent on leaving her after graduation. He does not tell Bella this though she constantly worries about it.
He assures her they can have a long distance relationship at college (he has no such intentions).
Victoria is kept out of the Forks area by Jasper and likely takes the one obvious route left to her. She has nothing left to live for, and it doesn't matter how much terror she lives in the Volturi, if this means her death then so be it.
She goes to the Volturi and narks on the Cullens.
Victoria Narks
It... does not go as planned.
Aro placates Caius with many excuses: this girl is in her primary schooling, is the only daughter of a police chief, she cannot simply disappear.
Carlisle is likely waiting until after she graduates and can disappear across the country.
And yes, technically this James fellow had bit Bella and they had their perfect chance but... Well, Aro will talk to Carlisle, it is not breaking the law yet.
Aro travels to Forks in person with Renata, shows up on Carlisle's doorstep, and says, "We need to talk."
Aro lays down the law, this girl better be turned after graduation, and Aro can only stall Caius so long. Also, great to see you, you built yourself a coven and that's perfectly marvelous.
Edward, of course, throws a fit but the law is the law and the law just visited them for tea. Aro makes it very clear that either Bella is turned, she dies, or Aro will have no choice to take adverse action against Edward at the very least (if not Carlisle and the rest of the Cullens).
Aro also points out this is an unsustainable relationship that's not good for anybody. Yes, it's too bad the girl has no choice, but they really should have thought of that before Edward walked around strongly hinting he wasn't human.
Edward insists they vote.
The vote doesn't go the way he likes.
Esme doesn't want Edward to live in misery after Bella dies, Rosalie doesn't like the idea of turning Bella but it appears they have no choice, Jasper (via conference call) doesn't want to be the one to eat Bella and it's stupid given the VOLTURI IS IN THE ROOM FOR THIS VOTE, and Carlisle notes that it appears Bella has no other option and at least this seems to be what she wants?
They will turn Bella after graduation.
Edward smashes a TV.
They tell Edward to tell Bella, it should come from him, Edward never does.
Instead, out of nowhere, he asks her to marry him and elope. They can live on a deserted island somewhere.
Bella thinks this is stupid and says no.
Edward dies inside.
Victoria Chooses Death
Victoria is out of options, the Volturi did not come through, and she wanders out of Volterra in a daze.
She guns it for Forks with Jasper hot on her tail. If there's one thing left for her, she will murder this Bella Swan before she dies. She fails, Jasper catches up to her in Forks and murders her.
No one tells Bella.
Graduation
After graduation, Carlisle picks Bella up. Bella has no idea what's happening, Carlisle assumes she does. Carlisle lays down the game plan, she's going to take a summer abroad before school starts, travelling with Alice, then both she and Alice will disappear in an accident.
Bella asks him to hold up, what the hell is he talking about?
Carlisle realizes with dull horror that Edward never told Bella. He awkwardly explains that the Volturi personally came to visit and, well, they have to turn Bella into a vampire.
He's very sorry.
Bella's very on board with this, she asks if it can be Edward that does it.
Carlisle says no, that's not a good idea.
They stare at each other.
Carlisle cannot believe Edward didn't tell her.
Edward and Bella do not get married nor does she have sex with him as a human.

Hide and Seek
Day 6, Story #1 is by @adenei
Title: Hide and Seek
Author: adenei
Pairing: Teddy Lupin/Victoire Weasley
Prompt: Babysitting
Rating: PG
TW: Mild Language
**********
“Don’t let them stay up too late,” Ginny reminds him as she opens the front door.
“And send us a Patronus if anything goes wrong. We’ll be here in an instant,” Hermione adds fretfully.
“Oi, ‘Mione, really? They’re not babies anymore!”
“Let’s go, or we’re going to miss our Portkey.”
Teddy laughs at the interaction. Of all the adults, it’s Harry who’s pressing them about tardiness. The foursome are headed on a weekend getaway, staying at the Delacours’ beachside cottage for three nights. James was shipped off to George and Angelina’s, while Rose opted to go to Percy and Audrey’s, so Teddy’s charges only include Albus, Hugo, and Lily.
“Everything’s going to be fine. I’ve got this! And if I don’t, I can think of at least five other Weasleys to call. Maybe even a Malfoy if I’m desperate.”
“That’s not funny, Lupin,” Ron warns as Ginny swats him upside the head.
“But if Scorpius does ask for Albus to go over for an afternoon, it’s fine!”
“Noted. Go enjoy your weekend!”
Teddy half shoves them out the door this time as he shuts and locks it behind them. The kids are out back playing in the garden, so Teddy goes out to join them. He’s chuffed that Harry and Ginny trust him enough to watch Al and Lily for the weekend. Plus, Ron and Hermione added Hugo to the mix. Normally, they’d be shipped off to the Burrow to stay with Molly and Arthur, but since it’s only a long weekend, and the kids are ten and twelve now, Teddy Lupin, a recent Hogwarts graduate, has been bestowed the responsibility.
He’s always been the mature older ‘sibling’—well, he counts himself as a sibling or cousin to all the Weasleys, but he’s not blood-related. Harry and Ginny half raised him, though, so he’s just as much a part of the family as any of the kids. Heck, maybe someday he’d officially be part of the family.
No, it’s too early to be having those thoughts.
But there’s one person who makes him happier than anything to know he’s not related to the Weasleys by blood. Victoire, his best friend and girlfriend. As Teddy sits back and gets comfortable on a patio chair, he lets his mind wander to spring afternoons spent by the lake as he observes the kids playing on the muggle swingset Harry insisted on putting together years ago.
“Who knew a giant Muggle toy would get so much use?”
Teddy jumps at the sound of a voice he’s not expecting.
“Vic! What are you doing here? I mean, not that I’m complaining, but…”
She laughs as Teddy backtracks. The sound is music to his ears, soft and lyrical, and something he’ll never tire of. Making her laugh is something he’s striven to do ever since they were young. When she fell off her toy broom, he made his hair change colors at a rapid pace in an attempt to make her giggle, and then there was the time she broke up with her first boyfriend during her fourth year, when he’d used the Jelly Legs Jinx on the bloke’s legs while he walked over a patch of ice. Victoire’s laugh has always been the fuel that set his heart on fire.
“Well, you said you had to babysit this weekend, and I thought I might come over and help entertain my cousins,” she explains as she pulls up a chair next to him.
“Yeah, but the adults have only just left! You don’t think I can keep the kids alive on my own for more than an hour?”
“Of course, I do!” She slides her hand in his while waiting for a beat, “especially since James isn’t here.”
“Oh, I see how it is! James isn’t that bad.”
“No, he’s not. He just likes mischief. It’s a common Weasley trait.”
“And a Potter one, too, if I’m not mistaken. Harry and Ginny never stood a chance, especially after naming him after Harry’s dad and godfather.”
“True. When I have kids, they won’t be named after anyone. They deserve to have their own unique names.”
Teddy offers a sad smile at Victoire’s words. He’s named after his dad and granddad and doesn’t mind all that much, but he sees where Victoire is coming from, what with being named after a bloody war for Merlin’s sake.
“Maybe you shouldn’t have insisted on entering this world on the second of May, then. I mean, come on, Vic, of all the days!”
“Oh, sod off, Lupin,” she feigns seriousness while her eyes shine with mirth.
“I do agree with you, though. There’s enough people in this family who’re named after somebody else. I don’t mind it, but I do like the concept of original names. Though, I do think we’re a ways off from baby name talk, don’t you?”
He can’t help but lighten the mood. Teddy’s sure she means nothing by the comment and is just thinking out loud, but something still possesses him to weave it into their future. Perhaps it’s to gauge her thoughts in a casual manner?
“Probably, but it’s fun to talk about, isn’t it? I mean, it’s not like we’re actually picking names or anything.”
“Or determining how many kids we’re going to have…”
“Which would absolutely be—”
“Two!” they both say at the same time.
It’s really more of an inside joke, with Teddy witnessing firsthand the chaos that is the Potter household with three kids, and Victoire being the oldest of three. And yet, there’s some truth laced into their lighthearted conversation.
“See?” Victoire says as she leans in close, “This is why we’re good together.”
She plants a kiss on his cheek at the exact wrong moment because that’s when Hugo shouts,
“Victoire! Look, guys! Vic’s here!”
“Oops,” she whispers bashfully in his ears.
So far, they’ve managed to keep their relationship a secret from the family, but it looks like that’s about to end sooner rather than later. Of course, Harry and Ginny know, and Vic told Bill and Fleur when she came home at the end of term, but the cousins were still blissfully unaware… until now.
The three kids run over to Vic and Teddy, and Lily eyes them with curiosity. “Teddy, why did Vic just kiss you on the cheek?”
There are a multitude of different answers Teddy could choose from. ‘No reason’, ‘don’t worry about it’, ‘it’s nothing’, but instead he opts for, “Why do you think, Lils?”
Her eyes grow wider than her small face allows, and a wide O forms on her lips. “Are you two… together?” she whispers.
Teddy and Vic share a look. They both know the secret’s out now.
“Yeah, Lils, we are,” Teddy admits as he holds up the hand that’s still intertwined with Vic’s.
If there weren’t wards in place, Teddy’s sure that Lily’s shriek of delight could have been heard for miles. Albus and Hugo, on the other hand, seemed disinterested in the whole ordeal.
“Can we play hide and seek or something?” Albus asked once Lily was done reacting to the news.
Point in case.
“Wait, who else knows?” Hugo interrupts Albus’s question and bringing the focus back on Teddy and Vic.
“Of all the cousins? Only you three,” Vic answers.
“Only us?” Lily gasps.
“Not even James?” Albus eyes Teddy curiously.
“Not even James,” Teddy confirms. “Tell you what, we can go play hide and seek now, but what about an even better game?”
All three look on expectantly, waiting for Teddy’s proposition.
“What if we play, ‘let’s see how long it takes James to figure out Vic and I are dating’? We can all place bets, and I’ll take whoever guesses the closest date out for ice cream.”
Vic flashes him a knowing smile as the kids contemplate his offer.
“I’m in,” Lily says without thinking it through.
“Me too,” Hugo agrees.
“But that means we’ll have to keep it a secret,” Albus realizes.
He’s much more intuitive at eleven than Teddy ever dreamed of being.
“Yeah. Everyone else has to find out on their own, which means you can’t tell anyone.”
Lily and Hugo both nod in agreement, and after a bit more pondering, Albus agrees.
“Okay, but can we pick dates later? I want to play!”
Ted and Vic both laugh as Teddy offers to count to twenty. He closes his eyes and makes a big show of counting while Vic remains at his side.
“Nice one.”
“Thanks,” he responds in between shouting numbers. “I figure James is thick enough that we’ll get at least a couple more weeks out of him. He is Harry’s son, after all...”
Not only did they get a couple of weeks out of the deal, but the rest of the summer. It wasn’t until September first when James caught them snogging behind a pillar on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and ran to announce it to the world that the couple knew the jig was up.
“Looks like I owe Al a trip to Fortescue’s next time I see him.”

For they know exactly what they do
Today there was a pretty long article published in the German newspaper FAZ, written by Julia Schaaf. Since there were quite a few interesting topics raised in it and Måneskin talked about some new aspects (or in more detail), I translated the whole thing (it might also have helped me to procrastinate).
Full interview in English under the cut.
For they know exactly what they do
June 22, 2021
Four young rock musicians from Rome are today's hottest band. Måneskin are enchanting Europe. Why? We met them for an interview.
Every romance needs its founding myth, an anecdote from the beginning, something you can tell later in more difficult times for self-assurance.
In the case of the band Måneskin, who first had Italy and now half of Europe wrapped around their fingers, and who are now trying to conquer the rest of the world with their rock music, there is the story of the shoe box. Rome, around five years ago: Four teenagers who are meeting every day after school in their rehearsal room to make music together, and sometimes they play their songs on the Via del Corso in the city centre in front of a changing audience. One day they want to record their own stuff. They find a studio that they can actually afford and as they go there they bring a shoe box, with the name of the band written on it, 'moonshine' in Danish, the bassist's mother is Danish. In the box: around seven kilogram of coins. The things you get from playing music on the streets. Everyone searching through Instagram for photos from that time can find four hippies with children's faces, three boys in batik, the girl is wearing a straw hat.
As they have to pay [for the recording], frontman Damiano David, 22, says that there was this guy, Angelo, and his bandmate Victoria De Angelis, 21, is interrupting: “No, Andrea, not Angelo”, and all of them have to laugh because a rigid studio manager with the Italian name 'angel' would be even funnier for a founding myth. David continues his story: “The guy was completely dumbfounded. 'We can't do that.' We went: 'Sure we can, that's worth the same even if it's just 20 cent coins, it's still 300 euros.” Thomas Raggi, 20, the guitarist of the band, is gasping for air as he laughs, while drummer Ethan Torchio, 20, is smiling dreamily. David finishes: “And then we snuck off before he was able to count it.” [the German text says 'verdrücken' here which is just a colloquial way of saying 'we left', but it entails some sort of a dramatic exit, so yeah, let your thoughts get creative how they left exactly :D].
Four young musicians on the verge of global fame are sitting on a white interview sofa in Berlin, completely styled, babbling across each other like overeager teenagers.
Ever since the Roman band first won the music festival Sanremo and then also the Eurovision Song Contest, carried by the enthusiasm of European viewers, you could say Måneskin has become a phenomenon. “Rock 'n' Roll never dies!”, Damiano David yelled fueled by the adrenaline of winning, and the insinuation that circulated on social media of the singer snorting during the counting of votes in front of a live camera – including their strict denial followed by a negative drug test result – might have given an additional boost to their public interest, their exploding album, ticket and merch sales, and their outstanding success on Spotify.
“We think it's a shit prejudice against rock music that there always have to be drugs involved. We fully threw ourselves into our participation with the utmost professionalism. We give everything for the music. So of course we don't want people to think that we can only do that because we take drugs.” – Victoria De Angelis
Prior to Eurovision, Måneskin was more of an insider's tip outside of Italy. Handmade rock music, not creating something entirely new but paying homage to the good old times with classic guitar riffs and cracking drum beats, being a lot of fun but also quite fragile and vulnerable at times and, first and foremost, conveying a captivating energy. Finally, on the stage of Rotterdam, live after so many months of isolation and renunciation, this wave of energy spilled straight over into European living rooms. It seemed easy to (mistakenly) interpret the winning song “Zitti e buoni” (Shut up and behave) as a declaration of frustration of our youth in times of a pandemic. In fact, singer Damiano David is singing about the favourite topic of the band: the unrelenting need to, against all odds, be yourself, despite or perhaps because you are different. The message fits their provocative sex appeal, which the band uses to demonstrate their independence of gender norms at any given time. But the core essence of rock music has always been the promise of unlimited freedom.
Thus at the first moment, the meeting with Måneskin is kind of startling. It's Wednesday, we are in the top floor of the new Sony head quarters in Berlin. The four Italians have just started their two-week long promotion tour through Europe. In the afternoon there will be a live concert in a queer club [the SchwuZ, but that's not mentioned here] in Neukölln, which will be streamed via TikTok. Around one million viewers will watch the show, some of them even from Brazil, so people at Sony are pretty excited [for Måneskin to come here]. But at first, these stunningly gorgeous creatures [yes, that's the exact wording :D] are standing surrounded by an entourage of people – their management, PR team, a stylist, a photographer, people who can hold a smartphone or a cigarette if needed [this paragraph is worded a little weirdly, especially taking into account that basically their whole team / 'entourage' is just friends of them, but it seems like the journalist didn't know that or maybe they just wanted to describe their first impression]. They seem like fictional / artificial characters out of a Hollywood movie. Transparent frill blouses with blazers and flared leather trousers, even the platform boots, everything brand-new, the makeup makes their faces look like a glossy magazine cover even in person. The smokey eyes of De Angelis and Raggi make them look smug and bored. Later, on the pictures it will probably look cool.
So of course your first impression might be: This band is under contract to industry giant Sony ever since their success on an Italian casting show [X Factor] in Winter 2017. The music industry must have its hand in the game when a band is photographed half-naked by Oliviero Toscani and styled by Etro. Also, one does not simply rent a villa with a pool in Rome to produce new music there, isolated from the rest of the world. And who else went to London for two whole months, shortly before the winter lockdown, just for inspiration? After the TikTok concert in Berlin – De Angelis and David are now wearing fishnet shirts that sparkle with every move, their bare nipples covered with an X of black tape – the band is posing with a few influencers. In the world of social media you would call that 'producing content'. But what does that mean for a band who are preaching their hosanna of authenticity? How authentic is Måneskin? And is their pointedly casual approach to sexuality and gender cliches in today's pop-cultural spirit more than a marketing strategy?
We're in the interview, the recording device is running for not even five minutes, when Victoria De Angelis says: “Actually, we just try to be ourselves and do what we really want to do.” And really: The more you listen to those four how they speak about the early days of the band in their slurred Roman dialect, about the shoe box and their own experiences with being different, but most importantly about their shared obsession [with music], the more you realise that [De Angelis] is very serious. Ethan Torchio, who got his first drum kit at the age of six or seven from his father because he was beating everything he could reach, says: “For me, music is like food. I cannot live without it.” The bassist next to him laughs at his pathos. Singer Damiano David applauds the otherwise more reserved friend for his truthfulness [it says 'klarer Punkt', meaning 'for the point he makes', but it makes it seem like Damiano is agreeing with Ethan here, although it doesn't indicate whether he agrees that yes, music is everything for Ethan or that he understands and feels the same].
De Angelis and guitarist Raggi already knew each other from middle school and they were the ones who tried to form a band at the age of only 13, a band that actually took music seriously.
De Angelis: “It's just difficult at that age to find other people who really put everything into music and who truly commit themselves and are willing to invest a lot of their time.”
Raggi: “We set strict rules and scheduled fixed times for the rehearsals, for every day.”
David: “Fever, stomach ache, there was no excuse. Even if you were feeling sick in the rehearsal room. At least you were in the rehearsal room.”
The way the four of them talk across each other, completing each other's sentences, taking turns in talking and sometimes joking about each other, seems intimate and playful. Singer David remembers how at first bassist [De Angelis] was merciless towards him when it came to her first metal band project, as she told him that he wasn't committed enough [to the music]: “Back then I was still playing Basketball. I was one of the people that Vic absolutely didn't want [in her band].” Drummer Torchio was later discovered through Facebook, even though there had already been a drummer, a close friend, but he was not good enough. It seems as if even back then music was everything for them. Even if it meant that only Raggi managed to graduate.
And why rock, why rock music of all things? Because it's great, the four of them say in unison. David adds: “Actually, it's a genre that allows you to do everything you want to do.”
When they played on the street, they were laughed at by their classmates. But not only there. De Angelis explains that she never wanted to be a typical girl: “I was always deterred by those stupid boxes that people put you in, and that are just restricting and constraining you, because something is only regarded as male or female. I always rejected that. Instead, I just wanted to do the things I enjoyed doing, I went skating and played football.” Torchio says: “Friends who are not friends anymore were already telling me at the age of ten that those“ – he grabs his long, silky black hair – “were wrong. Because I'm a boy and boys are meant to have short hair, long hair is only for girls. I was bullied a lot for that.”
“Compared to the past, people in our age became much more open-minded. It gets better.” – Thomas Raggi
Frontman David on the other hand, for whom eye shadow, jingling earrings and nail polish as well as his bare torso with the tattoos have become trademarks by now, says: “I was actually more of the average boy.” De Angelis convinced him to try out some eyeliner, which he describes as a spiritual awakening: “I liked myself much more [with makeup]. I saw myself more as myself. As if it had been a suppressed desire of mine.” On a trip to Copenhagen with the others, when he realised that it really didn't matter what people were thinking about him, he got his first fake fur [coat? the article doesn't specify that] in a second-hand shop and let his clothing style be guided by his own love to experiment: “I realised that my whole life I was just going at half speed.” When it comes to diversity all four of them are becoming almost missionary.
At the same time, their success is not only opening doors for them. Back home in Rome they are barely able to go out on the street due to all the paparazzi. “[You need a] hoodie and huge sunglasses”, David says, “the mask is quite helpful, too.” And still, none of them is complaining, and Torchio explains why: “Even if those experiences right now may have sides that are not so pleasant, we still know that for us a dream is coming true. We experience something that we always had in our minds, so we are willing to face every consequence that this entails.”
So is the band facing difficult times, is Måneskin going to change with all the success? Again, all of them answer at the same time.
David: “I'm not worried about that.”
Raggi: “No way!”
De Angelis: “On the contrary. Everything that happened to us happened because we are who we are, so we want to continue the exact same way and stay ourselves.”
Just a few hours later, they are at the stage in Neukölln, bouncing around like pinballs, hammering at their instruments, flirting with each other. “We are out of our minds, but different from the others”, David sings their winning hymn against conformism, and: “The people talk, unfortunately they talk.” Here on stage, the four paradise birds [a German word describing someone with a flamboyant personality] with their half-nude-glittering outfits are radiating an incredible energy with the utmost sincerity, and you begin to wish there was a live audience instead of the TikTok cameras, absorbing and spreading this energy. Måneskin. A cry for a life after the pandemic, a cry for freedom and a better world.
“We do what we wished for all our lives.” – Ethan Torchio

The ride with Grissom was smooth and a lot quieter than the one with Catherine. It took him a while to even say anything to you. “So, Y/n. What made you want to be a CSI then?”
“I love to help others and like to find out why and what the truth is even if it’s a truth that people don’t like. Also it’s a career where you learn something new every day, be it about the world or about people.”
He nodded “I like that. Learning is important. Why’d you come to Vegas?”
“I was with Nick when you called. Selfishly I came because he was coming but also the change of scenery is welcome and change of people. I’ve not known you all long but you all seem really really nice and I’m grateful for that. Some of the people on my shift back in San Diego were not the most pleasant.”
“That’s no way to be.”
You agreed with the man. “So you and Sara?”
There was a pause and it made you re-think what you’d asked. “You don’t have to answer that of course. I know Nick has told me little bits but I don’t want to intrude. I understand if it’s too soon we barely know each other yet.” you rushed out
“No. No, it's fine.” you could hear a slight smile in his voice. “I have to admit I’ve warmed up to you quickly which is unusual but I’d trust Nick with my life and I know he trusts me with his. I trust his judgment and as soon as I saw you two together I knew you were meant to be. Sara and I are married, Nick has probably told you about the whole affair over the years. I love her and always have.” He shrugged.
“Yeah Nick told me about some stuff. He also told me about how you saved his life. Thank you.”
He nodded and you could see the memories rushing through his head by the way his expression changed slightly. “It wasn’t a pleasant time for anyone but I’m glad we got him out of there. Anyway, Sara and I came back not long before everyone else and I’m glad we did. I'd be devastated to see the lab deteriorate anymore than it has. We all dedicated so much time to it so it’s the least we could do.” he paused and you could see him contemplating whether to say what he wanted next.
“I know we’ve not long met but I know that face means you’re not sure whether to say something. C’mon out with it I don’t mind.” you re-assured the man.
“Once we knew you and Nick were coming Greg filled us in on the two of you a little bit.”
You smiled “I’d never met Greg in person until I came to Vegas but I knew Nick and him kept in contact and talked a lot. Still best friends.”
“Yeah. Well he told us about the case that Nick and you were on and I just wanted to say thank you for looking out for him.”
“I did what anyone would do.”
“No. You did more than that.” he left a small silence. It wasn’t awkward or unpleasant. “Did Nick tell you about when Sara was taken and how they all found out about my feelings for her?”
You shook your head and he continued “When I realised why she’d been taken we were all looking at a miniature scene that had been created that included her. I didn’t think before speaking and told the room that they took Sara because she was the only person I ever loved.”
“Do you regret it?”
“Never,” he admitted. “How’d you feel about Catherine?” you could see a smile tugging at his lips.
“She’s really nice and very interesting-”
“She warmed up to you quickly as well. Take that as the highest compliment.”
The rest of the journey was filled with conversation about the lab, old working stories and dynamics.
Upon parking the vehicle you and Grissom both jumped out, a smile on both of your faces as you moved to the trunk to grab your kits and evidence. It didn’t take long for Catherine to join you and for all three of you to walk inside.
“I’ll review the tape.” Catherine offered. “I’ll log all of her belongings?” you suggested.
“Sounds good I’ll review the pictures of the scene.”
You nodded and the three of you quickly split up to get to work.
You carefully took pictures of the victims handbag before opening it, snapping a photo and emptying the contents. You analysed all of the belongings and took photos as you went. Her bag included a couple of photo booth strips of her and some friends, her purse still filled with cash and cards, a water bottle and some other smaller bits like mints.
You swabbed and printed the bag and contents. Meticulously ensuring you pulled everything useful. Packing the items up carefully you were placing them into a cardboard evidence box when a voice form the doorway caught your attention. “They’re ready for us with the body.” It was Catherine.
“You want me to come as well?”
“Yeah, yeah. It’s your first body in Vegas after all.”
You smiled “You don’t have to ask me twice.”
The journey was quick and you were soon standing over the body with Grissom and Catherine next to you. The coroner, David, was completing some paperwork before he move over to join the three of you.
“Although the vic has a visible head wound that is almost definitely not the cause of death. Upon first look she seemed healthy but she died of a heart attack.” “Blood to tox?” Catherine questioned
“Of course.” the man replied. “There is no sign of a struggle on the body either.”
“So would you say natural causes or?” you asked
“It’s peculiar, there’s nothing in her record that would suggest she’d be at risk of a heart attack.”
The four of you continued to discuss the body. The door opening made you all freeze and turn, Nick, Greg and Sara were all admitting themselves to the room.
“Sorry, we’ll wait outside.” Greg spoke
“No need.” Grissom replied “We’re just about done here.”
The two teams passed each other. Grissom smiled as he passed Sara and Nick gently caught your finger tips with his as you passed each other.
Grissom and you wore your smiles down the corridor “Guys c’mon that’s school kid behaviour.” Catherine joked.
“Says you.” Grissom nudged her in the side playfully and the three of you laughed.
After some time you were soon called into tox, you greeted the dark haired man sat at his desk.
“It’s great to meet and work with you Y/N.” he quickly turned his attention to the results “The blood didn’t come back entirely clean. There was a mixture of some different substances which include elevated potassium levels.”
“Potassium?” the three of you questioned.
“Yeah. Enough to overdose.”
“That explains the heart attack” Grissom announced
“How does that even happen?” Catherine enquired
“A general buildup of it over time? Maybe she was taking supplements and eating a lot of potassium-rich foods. It’s hard but not impossible, we had someone else a couple of weeks ago with the same thing.”
“Looks like we have some digging to do.” you added.
“We certainly do.” Catherine’s voice came. “I’ll chase up the warrant for her place.”
The three of you split ways and you trailed down the corridor to grab a drink from the break room, Grissom had told you to do so while he went to chase Greg for the other Potassium overdose case.
You rounded the corner into the room and bumped into a form, you instantly apologised and felt hands gently grasp your upper arms to make sure you didn’t fall.
“It’s alright.” the voice laughed and you recognised it straight away.
“Fancy seeing you here.” you joked.
“How’re things?” he questioned letting go of you and watching you enter the room to make yourself a drink. He eventually stepped back inside and sat down.
“They’re good. Strange case to kick off with. Looked like just a heart attack in a young woman but was actually a potassium overdose which caused it.”
“Really? Our vic had a lot of head trauma from a fall and some bruises which look like they were from drug use. Signs of a struggle, so a pretty normal case?”
“Normal huh.”
“In comparison yeah.”
You laughed and took a sip of your drink. “I’m just waiting for Catherine to get a warrant for the place. I doubt she’ll get it before the end of our shift though..”
“Greg said warrants have been slower.”
“Let me know if you’re working overtime?”
“Can do.” with that he left you in peace to enjoy your short break.
Your quick break went by in a blink of an eye. You soon found yourself back with Grissom.
“What’ve you got?” you questioned walking towards the table in the centre of the room.
“Vic was a twenty six year old female. Recently employed at a local highschool to teach Chemistry.”
“Heart attack from potassium overdose?”
“Yep. Found in her car at the wheel on the side of the road. She’d been driving home from work. She was about two minutes away from making it home.”
“Just ruled out as natural I suppose?”
“Greg said they investigated her place and she was on some sort of new diet found online and it so happened to have high levels of potassium in all of the foods and recipes. Supplements were also found in her desk drawer at work.”
You nodded “At the time I can see how that would be mistaken for an unfortunate incident but now… it most definitely is not. Two cases within the past month?”
“Looks like we have our work cut out for us.” The man pushed the file over to you while he began to rummage through the evidence box.
The two of you worked the hours away comfortably before Catherine appeared.
“The warrant will be ready for the beginning of our next shift. I tried all I could.” she shrugged defeatedly stepping further into the room. “If you guys are in a good place I’d suggest calling it a day and coming back tomorrow.”
You looked up at the clock and realised you’d worked longer than you were scheduled, it wasn’t uncommon but you felt bad going home now. “Are you sure I don’t mind staying longer. I’ll just need to tell Nick-”
“No it’s alright. I think we could all use the time. This one looks like it could get hectic.” Grissom admitted as he started to pack everything away.
The three of you packed everything away as you caught Catherine up on everything you’d found before walking to the locker room together.
Nick was sitting on the bench and instantly turned to the door as he heard your voice, a big smile on his face.
“Nick. I’m sorry I didn’t let you know.”
“It’s alright, I walked past and saw you working so I thought I’d wait a little.”
“Thank you.” you grabbed your things from your locker as the room bustled with conversation.
“I’d love to stay and chat but I’m hungry.” Catherine admitted “Frank’s?”
“Did someone say Frank’s?” Greg interrupted as he poked his head around the door frame.
“Yeah. You down?” Catherine asked the man.
“I sure am. Nick? Y/N? Griss?”
“I’ll see if Sara wants to join.”
Nick looked at you “I think we should head home. Sam is probably wondering where we are.”
You nodded “Yeah. Some other time though?”
“You’re welcome any time.”
Nick and you said your goodbyes to the group and made your way out to your car. Slipping into the passenger’s seat you allowed the man to drive. “First day ok?”
“More than ok.”
“I’m glad.” he smiled.
The ride went by quickly and the two of you were soon moving through the front door. Sam jumping up on you brought a huge smile to your face “Hi, did you miss us?” you pet the dog and he jumped down, walking to his bowl and sitting in front of it. You followed the dog and gave him some food.
“Food then bed or just bed?” Nick asked.
“Snack then bed? I’m super tired but could use something to tie me over.”
“Sounds good to me.” The man quickly prepared some sliced fruit for the two of you and you smiled. Back in San Diego it was a ritual you’d kept since you went to visit him in the hospital.
The two of you took the fruit through to the bedroom and helped yourselves as you got ready for bed. Sam joining you once he was done with his own food. Nick stopped to give Sam some attention while you crawled into the bed.
The man moved the fruit plate onto the dresser after taking the last couple of pieces. Crawling into bed he opened his arms and you gratefully sunk into them with your head on his chest as he rubbed circles into your back.
“They love you already, I can tell.” the man reassured.
“I know. I was nervous but they’re really lovely, welcoming people.”
“Different from before right?”
You laughed “Yeah. I loved them but God, they could be assholes.”
He agreed and kissed you on the top of the head “I love you.”
“I love you too.” you got comfy and felt your eyes get heavy “Night night.” you mumbled.
“Night.” he whispered as he pulled you closer to him.

Chances - Harry Lewis
Requested: Yes - I’ve had a fair few people ask for a second part to The Night We Met. I’m not exactly sure what I think of this one, but I hope they enjoy nonetheless.
Trigger Warnings: Grief and dealing with grief
The church was lulled into a silence, as soon as the doors opened and the coffin was brought in. You sat in the front row, next to Rosie, Harry’s sister and Ethan. Ethan held your hand in his, rubbing comforting circles on the back of your hand with his thumb. It had been four whole weeks since Harry had been stabbed, since he had called you beautiful with his last breath and passed away.
To say that you weren’t coping well, would have been the understatement of the century. Sleep had been minimal, crying just for the sake of crying had become the norm. Grief was an all encompassing emotion, you knew that from when your grandparents had passed. But this time, having someone you loved unconditionally pass well before they were ever due to, a life ended prematurely, it all just felt wrong.
Ethan had been the one to persuade you to come. He knew just how much you loved Harry, how much you had worshipped the ground he had walked on.
“It would be wrong if you weren’t there.” He had said, the Tuesday before. Ethan knew just how much the grief had absorbed you, so every Tuesday he had made sure to visit you, he cooked for you so that he knew you had at least eaten something, he ran you a bubble bath, so he knew that you were still maintaining your hygiene. Anything he felt that you might have let slip, every Tuesday he would ensure you did.
“It’s wrong that this is even happening in the first place.” You retorted.
“And how do you think the little one would feel? Knowing that you didn’t go and say goodbye to their daddy?”
And that was how you ended up here. Sat next to Rosie and Ethan. Although you weren’t with Harry for very long, you were carrying his child. The only child that he would ever have. In a way, you were thankful for Ethan. You knew that he would never let your child grow up without a father figure in their life.
While your child was never going to have Harry around, his spirit and values would be passed down through the rest of the Sidemen boys. After all, they had been a father figure for him when he was starting out his career.
-
When it came to your first scan, at twelve weeks, Josh had insisted that he and Freya come with you. They were also expecting a child, but were a bit farther along than you were, so they knew exactly what questions to ask, how to help guide you through the emotions you were going to experience and get the best out of the scan as possible. The scan went as well as it could, the baby was healthy and didn’t have any underlying health issues.
As time went on, and the baby grew Ethan began spending more time with you. Ensuring that everything was ok, he started staying over, so that if you woke up at four in the morning with an insane craving, he could go out and get it for you. He couldn’t imagine how hard it was for you, carrying Harry’s baby while still trying to get out of the seemingly never ending grief that you were experiencing.
Which is why, when you finally went into labour, your natural choice of birthing partner was Ethan. He was the most supportive out of all of the boys. He had been there throughout your entire pregnancy and he had earned it. He had held your hand, smiling at you the entire time.
“You’ve got this Y/N. You are one of the strongest women I know. All you have to do is push and little Harry junior will be here.” He whispered in an attempt to calm you.
-
“Mummy wake up.” Xavier shouted gleefully. “It’s my birthday. I’m finally a big boy. I’m six.” You opened your eyes to see your little boy sitting at the end of your bed, clutching his favourite dinosaur plushie.
Begrudgingly you got yourself out of bed, staying up until the early hours of the morning preparing for your little one’s birthday was now something of regular occurrence. You always felt like you had to go above and beyond.
He grabbed your hand in his little one. As you walked down the stairs hand in hand, the front door flung open. Revealing Xavier’s uncles; Ethan, JJ, Josh, Simon, Tobi and Vic. Xavier rushed over to them, giving them each a hug.
“What’s everyone having for breakfast then?” You asked, making your way to the kitchen.
“Considering its Xavier’s birthday, we thought we’d treat him to a Mcdoanld’s breakfast.” JJ announced, thrusting the brown paper bag at the tiny six year old.
You all entered the living room, where you had decked the whole place out as a dinosaur extravaganza. Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex’s hanging from the ceiling.
Xavier climbed onto the sofa, grabbed the television remote and turned on Cartoon Network, his favourite channel as he chowed down on a piece of hash brown completely transfixed. Completely lost in his own little world.
“Xavie.” Vik said, breaking him out of his trance. “We’ve got you a little something from us.”
“It’s something really special.” Josh chimed in as he gave Xavier a small DVD wrapped in a bow.
“You’ll have to watch it with mummy though.” Simon said.
“Can we watch it now?” Xavier asked, looking up at you. His blue eyes are an instant reminder of Harry.
“Course we can,” you said, you popped the DVD into the DVD player and pressed play. An image of Harry filling the screen. He was wearing his iconic Childish jumper with the soap suds around it.
As the video played before you, you heard him say: ‘Happy 6th Birthday Xavier. Love Daddy.’
You didn’t know when the tears started for you, but you could feel them falling down your cheeks. As you went to go and grab yourself a tissue, you could hear Xavier ask what his daddy was like. What he would tell him to do and ask for all the fun stories that his uncles had with him.
When you returned, Ethan was still passing on his words of wisdom, that he thought Harry would want his little boy to know.
“He’d want you to take every single chance that you get, to have fun and to enjoy every single day. He wouldn’t want you to care about what anyone thinks. He’d want you to know that you are awesome.”
And he was. Although Xavier was a constant reminder of Harry every single day, sometimes that wasn’t such a bad thing.

Fighting for my family ~ Rhea Ripley x fem! reader.
The morning sun beamed in through the window and straight into your face. You rolled over into the chest of your fiancée, Rhea Ripley. Her arms tighten around you, tangling your arms with hers. “Good morning sunshine” Her morning voice was deeper and raspier than her normal voice. You groan as you bury your face deeper into her chest trying to avoid the reality that you will have to leave the safe haven that is your hotel room bed. Rhea laughs at your attempt to hide away from your responsibilities. She starts to move to leave the bed much to your protests. “Come on sleeping beauty, I have to go shower and I think we both know you’d like to join me” Rhea leaves the bed and walks into the bathroom leaving the door open behind her. “Damn it! Your good” You had no choice but to leave your fort of comfort to join your fiancée in the bathroom before you have to leave.
Coming out of the bathroom after showering and drying your hair, you and Rhea jump slightly when your phone blasts out your ringtone. You rush over to check it and see it's your dad. You look back to see Rhea staring back at you with a raised eyebrow at the identification of the caller. ‘Dad’ you mouth before picking up. “Hey Pops” You try to sound as cheery as possible but you already know what he’s calling about. “Y/N! Where are you? Do you know what time it is?” You check your phone and see it’s 9:30, You’re half an hour late for the morning meeting at the WWE headquarters. “Ugh shit, I must have overslept, I’m on my way now.” You’re lying through your teeth but your dad seems happy enough with your excuse as he ends the calls after a quick “Get your butt her ASAP” after hanging up you realize you’re still naked and rush around to find your clothes to get dressed. “Overslept huh?” Rhea says interrupting your hunt for your pants. “Rhea” you warn, knowing what she’s going to say next. “I know I know, you can’t tell your family because they’d never accept it but Jesus Y/N, we’re engaged. We’re getting married like to each other in less than a year and-” You interrupt Rhea as your frustrations get the better of you. “Rhea! I love you and I love your family but you don’t understand my family wouldn’t accept us. Being Shane McMahon’s daughter means I have to fit a certain mould. If they found out about us… I don't know what they’d do.” You break eye contact with Rhea to locate your shirt after zipping up your jeans. “You told Steph and she was fine with it. All I’m saying is I’m tired of being your little secret.” You freeze at Rhea’s cold words. “Rhea-” You know you don’t have a good defence to her claims but still she interrupts you. “Don’t. Just don’t. I’ll see you later at the P.C.” and with that she turned on her heels and reentered the bathroom, leaving you in stunned defeated silence.
You arrive at headquarters a half an hour later with a guilty pit in your stomach. Rhea’s words ringing in your head as you sit in the meeting room, hearing your family bicker around you about the product and the plans of this and that and the other. You worked on NXT with Uncle Paul and William Regal, that's how you met Rhea in the first place. Onscreen you were a commentator with Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett, you were damn good as well. You had been commentating for the last 5 years and you loved every minute of it. “Y/N!” You’re snapped out of your thoughts to the realization that the entire board meeting is staring at you. You straight up in your seat “pardon?” You try your best to at least sound polite despite the fact you hadn’t heard a damn thing that was said. Your Grandfather stared daggers into you as he began to speak again. “Well, had you been listening you would have heard that we are setting a storyline between yourself and adam cole into motion as soon as possible” Your face scrunches in confusion as you speak up. “Wait what? Why?” your voice comes out more frantic and high pitched than you had hoped. Triple H turned in his chair to address you “Well we want to put Adam in a program against Johnny again but Adam needs someone to balance out against Candice” Like Beetlejuice or the devil himself, there's a knock on the meeting room door, Vince breaks into a grin as he welcomes the interruption in and in walks Adam Cole with his infamous smirk already pasted onto his face.
“Adam! So glad you could join us” Triple H warmly welcomes the UE leader as he sits as close as possible to you in the seat next to you. Why him? Of all people, it just had to be him. When you started your job as a commentator he made it his business to berate your work on Twitter until he came to NXT where he could belittle you in person. You can already tell this will be a horrible time for you. “I’m so glad to be here Paul, Vince thank you so much for this opportunity and Y/N, you actually look really good today, good job” Adam’s voice rang through your head as he made it his mission to get under your skin as soon as possible. Thankfully Vince intervenes in Adam's mission but that tankful feeling is short-lived “Well Adam we’re thankful you suggested this story and we truly feel that Y/N is a perfect fit.” You turn in shock back towards Adam only to come face to face with that sly smirk that you wished you could scrape off his face with your boot. “Wait, how can I have a storyline against Candice if I’ve never wrestled before?” You took a leap of faith, hoping that someone would see how insane this was and put an end to it but alas no luck. “Oh don't worry sweetheart you won’t be getting your pretty little hands dirty in an actual match or anything but if we need you for a brawl or something I’m sure I could teach you a thing or two.” Adam punctuates his sentence with a wink, he leaned in closer to whisper “or maybe you could ask your little friend Rhea for help, I’m sure she’d be more than happy to help ya out”
The blood rushed away from your head. You felt like you had been sucker-punched, how dare he? Did he know? No surely not. How could he possibly know! Your father, Grandfather and Uncle had carried on the conversation so they had missed Adam’s potential bombshell but they brought the two of you back into the conversation when Shane said: “So what do you think Y/N?” You felt all eyes in the boardroom on you as the pit in your stomach grew and grew and you had hoped it would swallow you whole. “Sure, I’ll give it a shot for a week.” the second you agree the entire room erupts as scripting the rest of NXT begins. Once the meeting is dismissed you rush back to your car to call Rhea but you’re interrupted by your father as you near the exit. “Jeez, someone’s in a hurry, where’s the fire?” Shane laughs out as he stands between you and the exit. “Oh sorry dad, just wanted to go back to the hotel because I forgot my laptop” Your eyes were darting around to avoid your father’s gaze. “Is it important sweetie because I need you to run a few errands for me” your eyes snap to your father. You know you’ll look suspicious if you turn down your father but you need to talk to Rhea ASAP. “Will it take long?” you begrudgingly grumble.
That's what put you in this situation now. You were running around the performance centre helping out with the writing and distribution of the scripts for the NXT tapings tonight. The hours before NXT were ticking away and your anxiety about your new “storyline” was only building and building. Before you knew it, it was showtime and you were rushing out to the commentary desk, nearly shaking with nerves. You almost physically facepalmed when you remembered that you haven't spoken to Rhea and your storyline was starting tonight. Your stomach sank as the show began, you had to put on your game face but inside you were dreading tonight's events. The show ticked by and you calmed as the storyline slipped to the back of your mind as you focused on the action happening in front of you. Before you could even truly settle in to enjoy the episode of NXT that you were commentating on, the main event came and the air was knocked out of your lungs when you realized what you had to do in less than 15 minutes.
The main event of the show was going to build towards the men's war game, Pat Mcafee would approach the commentary desk and cut a promo on Vic and Wade, then he will turn his attention to you and start to insult you before Adam run down to be your knight in sweaty armour to save you from the big bad football man thus starting an on-screen relationship between you and Adam. The segment was going so far so good, Pat was doing his job and Adam came to your defence exactly on time. Just as you're about to sit back down at your desk Adam suddenly grabs your hand and kisses your knuckles before he struts back up the ramp to close out the show with Undisputed Era standing tall. If you didn't have to act like a blushing little schoolgirl then you might have thrown up at Cole’s horrible attempt at romance. The show finished and you gathered your things from the commentary desk to return backstage. You politely say good night to your coworkers as you pass by them on your way out to your car to return to your car. The drive back to the hotel was quicker than you expected. The exhaustion of a long filming day was settling into your bones as you entered the hotel and made your way up to your room.
The loud beep of the key card being accepted rang through your ears as you pushed through the door. The door clicked behind you as you dropped your bags and coat on the floor with an unenthusiastic thud. You see Rhea is already on the sofa in the room and once your eyes fall on your fiancee, you quickly move towards her to fall into her arms. “So you and Cole huh?” it feels like your heart stops beating, shit… you never warned Rhea about your new storyline. “Baby, I’m sorry I-” you start to apologize but Rhea cuts you off “Don’t baby me Y/N, What the fuck was that? You can’t tell your family about your fiancee but you can give fuck me eyes to Adam cole on national TV?? I can’t believe you sometimes” you hang your head in shame as the severity of the situation settled in. “Rhea, I’m sorry. I meant to tell you beforehand but I didn't have a moment to myself at all today” You start to explain yourself but Rhea rolls her eyes at your excuse. “Enough Y/N… enough, I’m done with being your dirty little secret. I love you more than anything but I can't stand it as you allow your family to play pretend with you.” Rhea was standing now as you both stood eye to eye, you were only 3 feet apart but it felt like an ocean between you both. Your eyes brimming with tears as Rhea starts to walk past you. “Rhea, please.” She doesn’t stop and once you hear the door open and close behind, you break out in sobs. The future of your engagement lies in your ability to come clean to your family.
The phrase hell hath no fury as a woman scorned never rang truer than you making your way into WWE HQ to meet with your family to reclaim your destiny. You realize you’ll have to get your father alone to tell him about your relationship with Rhea first before hopefully, you both go to your grandfather to scrap the Adam Cole storyline. So as you sit down to the morning meeting, you already feel yourself zoning out as you work out what you’ll say to your father later on. The meeting goes by faster than expected but sadly the meeting deviates towards the future of yours and Cole’s storyline. “You want to book a WHAT?!” your shock overtakes your body as you nearly yell at your grandfather. “Well Y/N. As you should have guessed by now the end goal of this storyline will be a wedding angle between the two of you, I think the fans will love it. it was trending last night.” Vine had his selling hat on but you weren't having it. You were ready to put your foot down and finally stand up to your family before the doors to the meeting room burst open.
Rhea stood at the entrance of the room, a shocked silence fell over the meeting room. “Rhea, how can we help you?” Triple H breaks the silence. “Oh, you could help me out her trips, How bout you give me my fiancee back?” Your heart skipped a beat as your knight in shining armour came to rescue you. “Excuse me?” Vince's confusion echoes through the room as your breath catches in your throat as you stand from your seat. All eyes in the room dart to you as you finally catch the courage to speak. “It’s me, I’m her fiancee, I have been for months and they’ve been the happiest months of my life.” you and Rhea lock eyes and smile at each other. “Excuse me? I can't believe you Y/N, how could you not have told us this?” Your father stared up at you with a shocked expression on his face. “Jesus Christ Dad, how would I tell you? You never listen to me anyway. At every meeting, I’ve ever been at you’ve all ignored my input. Then you forced me into a dumb storyline with that idiot Cole and then you wanted me to marry HIM? I’m gay dad and I love her and I refuse to be ashamed of my love anymore”
After your rant, you move towards Rhea to hold her hand and lead her out of the meeting room. “Let’s get out of her babe” you put on your best cool girl face as you lead your gorgeous fiancee away from HQ. Rhea suddenly stops your stride and you snap back towards her, “You wanna do something crazy?” you furrow your brows at your fiancee’s question. “Go on?” she’s piqued your interest now so you java to know. “Let’s just go to Vegas and get married now” The request takes you by surprise but the answer leaves you as if it's been sitting in your brain for years. “Yes, let’s go right now” You both break into giggles as you run towards your (hopefully long and happy) life together!

HeliosR - Victor Valentine Card story ‘‘Seeking for what’s frightening’’
Translation of Victor Valentine’s 4* ‘’Gothic Halloween’’ card story from ‘Helios Rising Heroes’.
Gray: Uwah, amazing… Did you make this, Victor-san…?
Victor: Yes, this robot was built by me. I’m occupied with pouring all my time into producing these for the upcoming Halloween League.
Gray: I had assumed you were leaning more towards biochemistry… But to be able to build robots too, that’s seriously amazing...
Victor: As you thought my area of expertise is chemistry, however if I had to be honest, I barely have the confidence to manufacture these…
Victor: And on top of it, I had been also struggling with the design itself...
Gray: Eh… Wondering if it has enough punch to it, you mean… I already think it’s scary enough as is though....
Victor: Adding that pinch of “scary” has been considerably difficult. I’ve been making these as requested by Marion, but as far as the details go, I’ve only received how it should be thematically based on “evil spirits of Halloween”.
Victor: Naturally I have referred to literature to form a general outline on the matter, but what traits resemble an “evil spirit”, about it having a factor of “spookiness” to it... No matter how far I go with investigating the matter, I simply cannot draw the line where it’d be most suitable.
Gray: Like evil spirits… spookiness….
Victor: What is your impression of it, Gray? Do you think it’s able to represent those traits of an “evil spirit”?
Gray: Eh? Eeeh… uh, um…
Victor: Please do not hold yourself back, and be as candid as you can.
Gray: Be as candid as I can… Right, right...
Gray: Whether or not it looks like one, I can say that it’s absolutely close but… Um… on the contrary, it might actually be a bit too scary...
Gray: H-how do I say this… It’s like originally you were going for CERO A but ended up heading towards CERO D instead…?
Victor: CERO……? What may that be?
Gray: Ah… awawah, sorry…. I used a game rating system for scale… a Japanese one too…
Gray: The Halloween League is an event that children will attend, in terms of gaming that would be for an event for all ages...
Gray: But, as of now it feels more that it’s heading towards a more mature audience… So I was thinking all like, how about aiming for a younger one instead~... but please don’t mind it too much...
Victor: Hmm, I see…That is very interesting, or I should rather say an intriguing point of view.
Victor: I will do as you said and make an attempt to aim for a younger demographic, however with how it has been currently going, I don’t quite have the grasp on what I should do to change it.
Victor: If you don’t mind, could you tell me more about video games for all ages to use as a reference point going forward?
Gray: !! O-ofcourse…!
-
Victor: Hooh.... Even though it’s shortly summed up as for all ages, there seems to be quite a variety of video games.
Gray: For now I kept it limited and looked up horror games that came to mind… You’d come across even more games if you were to look it up
Gray: Uuum… if you’re looking for a game that has enemies that are “evil spirit”-like, then maybe this one…?
Victor: Yes, that kind of caricature is good. It gives an impression closely resembling the ones in animation for children.
Gray: P-personally I think it’s good if it’s as scary as these enemy characters here but… That is for you to decide...
Victor: Hmm…. If I were to judge from your perspective, would this be more scarier?
Gray: Eh? Yes… it, would be….?
Gray: I feel, that the difference is pretty obvious but… you don’t seem to think so, Victor-san?
Victor: Indeed. Even though we’re going in a different direction, I don’t feel that any of them are frightening, thus making it difficult to judge.
Gray: R-right…
Gray: Uh… I’m just asking this out of curiosity but… Is there, something that you’re scared of, Victor-san…?
Victor: Something that I’m scared of?
Gray: Ah, aaah, uuum, it’s just… it’s okay if it’s too hard to answer, or if you don’t want to! I suddenly asked something weird anyway, I’m sorry….
Victor: Fufu, what are you apologizing for? I don’t believe it was odd by any means.
Victor: Something I’m scared of… you ask? I haven’t played any video games before so on that matter I have nothing to say, and in regards to horror movies I don’t recall being frightened once.
Gray: Eh… so you’re like, totally fine with ghosts and demons and all that…?
Victor: More that I don’t believe in such things due to my point of view as a scientist, rather than being fine with it.
Victor: Well, realistically speaking “Ghosts believing scientists” such as Nova are not too uncommon out there.
Victor: I do want to believe in the possibility of it… Unfortunately, I have yet to see a theory that justifies it to begin with.
Gray: Wah… you’re amazing, Victor-san…. Makes me a bit embarrassed given how I accidentally believe in anything...
Victor: No, I wouldn’t say that I am. I do occasionally envy those who are able to simply enjoy horror movies as is.
Gray: Is that so…?
Victor: Do you have any issues when it comes to horror and occult, Gray?
Gray: Aah, no… I’ve built up a tolerance for it because of games that are full of it...
Gray: Besides, I think… humans are scarier than any ghost or demon, 100 times more scarier even….
Victor: Human themselves…. For example, such as Asch Albright?
Gray: !! Eh, eeeeh…. yes… His name alone makes me sweat bullets, weirdly enough...
Gray: But, not just A….sch, but I’m scared of coming in contact with other people in general...
Gray: Even before talking to them actually, like what if they hate me…. what if they think I’m weird… that’s all I end up thinking about
Victor: Which means that you are currently feeling the same sense of dread when talking to me this moment?
Gray: T-that’s right… Aaah, but, you’re not scary Victor-san… Um, it’s just...
Victor: Yes, I understand. I’ve mentioned it before, but I don’t believe there’s anything odd about you, Gray.
Gray: V-Victor-san….!
Victor: My apologies for getting us sidetracked. Could you lend me your wisdom for a little longer?
Gray: Ah, yes… yes of course!
--
Nova: Oooh, looks like you made a lotta progress~ Making ghouls and all♪
Victor: I was able to because of the advice I had received from Gray, and so I was finally able to see the light.
Nova: Good pals with Gray-kun now, eh? Well with Ren-kun too but, lately more people have been dropping by your lab. Lookit this celebrity here~♪
Victor: ...You’re surprisingly in a good mood today, aren’t you now?
Nova: Mmh, haven’t slept so I’m feeling somewhat all over the place
Nova: I’ve been absorbed into making these robots too, and before I knew it three whole days had passed~ That scared me real good, yanno
Nova: Wait a second, nobody came to see me in these three days….!? I wanna be a celeb tooooo~!
Victor: How about resting your mind and body, rather than dawdling around here?
Nova: Naaw~ The adrenaline’s coursing through my veins, not feeling tired in the slightest~
Nova: Whatever you say, making these robots is right where I belong. Had lotsa fun doing it too
Nova: Obviously I’m paying enough attention to safety and all that, but there’s more space to feel at ease compared to what I usually do for work….
Nova: Not that I’m forgetting substance research by any means, it’s just pretty nerve-racking when combined with making assets and tools for the heroes to fight with
Nova: Didn’t mean to pay that much mind to it, still it’s a heavy responsibility to have one’s life in your hands...
Nova: Makes me go all like, damn, this fear of failure and what to do about it sure is always growing ain’t it now!~ like some kinda realisation each time, yanno
Victor: ….., fear….
Nova: You’re always doing such a fantastic job, me~
Nova: A Summerfieldtastic job~....
Victor: …….
Nova: Eh, no response!? Here I was putting all my energy into being an idiot, and instead of straight manning me, you straight up ignore me!?
Victor: Aah, my apologies… There was something on my mind.
Victor: What did you say?
Nova: I-I didn’t say a word! Vic’s a dummy! I’m gonna go to my room and sleep! Good-NIGHT!!!
Victor: …..?

Fun trivia corner:
The Japanese game rating goes from CERO A to D, and Z. All ages would be CERO A, for 12 years old and above CERO B, for 15 years old and above CERO C, for 17 years old and above CERO D, and at last CERO Z for 18 and above. The European one is PEGI with age specific ratings (PEGI-3, or PEGI-18) and the American one is ESRB, with letter codes such as T for teen, M for mature, and so on. Helios is rated as 12+ on the Apple app store, that would be CERO A, PEGI-12 or ESRB T.

Robron week - Day 4
Make a wish, it's the rule.
Look at this...on time for once! From the same universe as yesterday as people seemed to like it.
(A03 link)
Aaron’s on the last job of the morning and it’s the kind he hates. He likes to think he’s learned a little bit of tolerance in this job because he understands that people are ill and they really don’t want to be there, but when someone is doing nothing but running down the staff on the wards it gets his back up.
“There we are Mr Harris, someone will be back to collect you when you’re done.” He turns on his sweet saccharine voice that he keeps just for the difficult ones. Without so much as a by your leave he drops his notes on the desk and scarpers. It’s been one of those days and he’ll be glad when it’s over.
As he’s on his way back to the locker room he spots a familiar face, it’s Robert from a few nights before. He probably doesn’t remember him but he feels as though he should say hello and he quickens his pace to catch up with him.
“Robert? Hi.” The man in front of him looks blank for a minute and his face drops. Of course he doesn’t remember, his whole world had probably taken a beating that night, why would he remember a stranger. Then recognition kicks in and he smiles.
“Aaron! Sorry, I’m dead on my feet.” Aaron brushes away the apology before he asks how his little boy is doing. “He’s ok, he’s still upstairs. I’m on my way back now, had to take a work call because my son being in hospital isn’t a good enough excuse apparently.”
“You look like you could do with a break.”
“Going to give me tea and a blanket again?”
“If you want. He’ll be alright for a few more minutes won’t he? You look like you’re going to fall over any minute.”
“I should get back. Ever since I told him about Bex he doesn’t like it when I’m not there, screamed the place down yesterday when I nipped home for a shower.”
“Tell me to mind my own business and I swear I’m not a weirdo but if you want I could sit with him while you get some lunch. Not to sound like my Mum but you’re no good to him if you’re exhausted. The staff up there know me.” It’s weird, he shouldn’t be offering, but if Robert was on his own aside from Vic then he could probably do with the help.
“I don’t know, he’s pretty upset.” He looked at him like he’d hung the moon though.
“Half an hour. If he doesn’t like me then I’ll come find you.”
“Are you sure? Don’t you have to work?”
“Yeah, I’m sure. It’s my lunchbreak, was only going to go for a jog, this is a much better way to spend time, besides it’s freezing out there. He’s what six? That’s the same age as my little cousin and I babysit him loads. Go on, you’ll feel better for it even if the food ain’t up to much.”
“I don’t know.”
“If it helps I wanted to be one of those play specialists years back. Would’ve tried it if I hadn’t moved to France.”
“France?”
“Yeah. Waste of time, came back when my boyfriend cheated on me.” He bites his lip, maybe he should’ve kept quiet but a part of him wanted him to know, because as much as he told himself it wasn’t the time or the place he couldn’t help but be attracted to him, even if nothing could ever happen.
“Oh. Well...ok.”
“That’s settled then. Now go eat.”
“You’re a lifesaver.”
“Nah, I leave that to the professionals. Go, it’ll be fine.”
It still feels strange, even with Robert’s permission, walking onto the brightly coloured children’s ward, the place full of noise as always. One of the nurses he knows directs him to Seb’s room and he peeks in the doorway to see him staring at the TV, red faced from crying, mouth downturned in a pout.
He feels bad when he pushes the door open and he sees a momentary smile only for it to disappear when he sees someone other than his father coming in.
“Hi. I’m Aaron, what’re you watching?”
“Nothin’.”
“That’s a shame, because I told your Dad that you’d tell me all about the cartoons. Guess I’ll see if the kids next door can help me.”
“No. I can do it. You know my Daddy?” Aaron nods, sitting beside the bed. The little boy is propped up on a mountain of pillows and he’s guessing Robert had persuaded them to give him a couple extra because there was definitely more than the regulation amount. His leg is hidden by the covers but he can tell it’s injured somehow by the cradle holding the sheets away from it. There’s a dressing on the left side of his head too but other than that he seems ok.
“Yeah. I met him the night you came here. He went to get something to eat but he’ll be back soon. I told him I’d come sit with you so he wouldn’t worry.”
“He does that a lot.”
“Yeah? Mums and Dads are like that aren’t they.” He remembers a second too late and he wants to kick himself as the tears start to form in Seb’s eyes. “I’m sorry mate.”
“Mummy went to the stars.” He tells him, hiccuping his way through the words.
“Yeah, I know, but you know she’ll always be here with you right? You’ll remember her and Daddy will tell you about her loads.”
“Is your Mummy still here? Daddy’s isn’t. He told me that he used to be really really sad, but now it’s not so much and that’s how I’ll be too.”
“Well I bet he’s right. Yeah my Mummy’s still here. She’s right bossy, makes me tidy my room and all sorts.” That gets a giggle and he’s relieved. He wouldn’t want Robert to come in and see his son crying.
“Do you work here?”
“Yep. I’m a porter, do you know what that is?” He shakes his head, eyes wide with interest and Aaron thinks he looks just like Robert. “I take people where they need to go, on their beds or in wheelchairs and stuff.”
“Do you race them?”
“No. I think I’d get into trouble if I did that.”
“You should. It’d make them feel better.” He adds a little nod at the end of his statement.
“You think. Well you never know, maybe one day. So, what do you like doing when you’re not stuck in here? I can go get you some toys or we can play a game.”
“I like drawing. It’s my Daddy’s birthday today.” It takes a second for Aaron to catch on to the change in subject. “Can I make him a card?”
“Yeah, course. I’ll go and get you some stuff. Don’t go anywhere will you.” He winks at him, getting another giggle before he goes to raid the supply cupboard on the ward.
He can’t help feeling a little sad that Robert’s spending his birthday in the hospital with his son and his mind is already whirling with thoughts about how he can make it a little better. Maybe he’s overstepping, after all they don’t even know each other really, but he finds himself wanting to make Robert smile, to make things just a little better. He wants to know everything about the man too, but he pushes that to one side. Now’s not the time.
Armed with pens and paper he heads back to Seb’s room, manoeuvring the table over the bed so he can draw. He’s still at it when Robert comes back in the room looking a little better and Aaron sits up straight in the chair.
“Daddy!”
“Hey cheeky. Have you been ok with Aaron?”
“Yeah he’s funny! He’s going to race the trollies when he’s working.”
“Little sneak. That was your idea!” He goes to stand beside Robert. “He’s been fine. I put my foot in a little mentioning my Mum but I think he’s ok. Sorry.”
“Don’t worry. Thanks. You were right, I really needed a break.”
“Any time. I mean it, here’s my number, or just ask the nurses to radio me and I can sit with him as long as I’ve not got a job.” He scribbles his number on a bit of Seb’s discarded paper and hands it to Robert. “He’s better company than my mate right now.”
“Sounds like a story.”
“Nah, he just wants me to go out on the pull, gets a right monk on when I won’t.” Maybe he shouldn’t but a part of him wants to know if there’s an interest of any kind or whether he’s wasting his time.
“Not a good wingman?”
“He’s not, just wants me to hang around while he tries it on with every girl in the room.”
“Not your scene? Sorry none of my business.”
“Not my type more like. Anyhow you don’t care about this. I should go.” He makes for the door wanting to escape the embarrassing silence. “Oh, happy birthday by the way.”
The next time he sees him he’s pushing Seb in a wheelchair as Aaron’s taking a patient to the entrance to be discharged.
“Aaron! Race us!” Seb’s voice carries along the corridor and his patient starts laughing. At least she won’t put in a complaint. He’s already got one against him from the bloke this morning who hadn’t got a sense of humour, he doesn’t need another on the same day.
“Seb, Aaron’s working.”
“Oh go on petal, give him a little race.” He can’t help checking the corridor for any of the bosses before winking at Seb and increasing his pace a little, chuckling as Seb urges Robert to hurry up. He lets them go ahead and Seb’s cheer is surprising in how it makes him feel happy. “If you get into trouble lad, you tell them I insisted.”
“Cheers Alice, I might need to. Thanks though, he’s having a tough time.” He whispers conspiratorially to his passenger. “If I sit you here your husband won’t be long will he?”
“No, no, you get on. I think they’re waiting for you.” She pats his hand and he flashes a smile at her already heading towards these two people who already have a place in his heart.
“Where are you off then?”
“PIcnic!”
“Wow!”
“This one has been telling all and sundry that it’s my birthday and somehow there were some spare sandwiches and bits left over from the lunches which mysteriously ended up in his room. The nurses all but shooed us out. Know anything about that?”
He shrugs, embarrassed. “No one should be stuck in hospital on their birthday. Or visiting for that matter.”
“Well thanks. You wanna join us?”
“Please Aaron, please.” He can’t resist Seb’s pleading face, looking up at him from the wheelchair, tucked up in a blanket, leg stuck out in front of him in it’s plaster cast. “Daddy got choc’late cake.”
“He did? Well in that case...I’ve got a few minutes.”
They find a spot on the grass at the front of the hospital and thankfully the grass is dry when he sits down.
“Are you sure we’re not keeping you from anything?” Robert fusses as he sticks the straw in Seb’s carton of apple juice.
“I’m not goin’ anywhere til I try that chocolate cake.”
“Best get to it then. I even managed to get a candle because apparently it’s not a birthday cake without one.”
“It’s not Daddy. You hafta blow it out and make a wish, it’s the rule. Like I did on my birthday.”
“Oh yeah, what did you wish for then?” Aaron asks him, amused at how he bossed his Dad about.
“More cake.”
“Fair enough.” He watches as Robert sets the candle in the cake patting his pockets when he doesn’t have a light. Aaron hands him his lighter. “Here. I’ve given up but it reminds me not to start again. Besides it can come in handy.”
“Right then.”
“Blow it out Daddy!” Robert looks embarrassed but he does as he’s told. “What did you wish for?”
“That’d be telling wouldn’t it.”
“So, when are they letting him out?” He asks when they’ve eaten the cake and Robert’s cleared the remains from Seb’s mouth.
“The weekend, if he can handle crutches. I’ve got nothing sorted, I live up on the second floor and I don’t know...oh you don’t need to hear all this.”
“I don’t mind.”
“Why are you helping us Aaron?” He shrugs. “I’m not complaining because I don’t know where I’d be if you hadn’t helped the other night, but why? You must see loads of people looking as pathetic as I did.”
“You didn’t. You just looked like you needed someone I suppose.”
“Well cheers. I never would’ve called Vic either if it hadn’t been for you.”
“Yeah? You’re getting on alright then?” He hadn’t seen her in the village so he had no idea if they’d reconciled, although he knew Vic well enough to know she wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“I like Auntie Vic. She brought me pizza!”
“Wow! Her pizzas are the best.”
“You know Auntie Vic?” Seb looks amazed as if it’s the coolest thing in the world.
“Yep, since school.”
“That’s a long time.”
“Yeah yeah, alright you, don’t go making me old before my time.” He reaches out to tickle him making him squeal.
“You’re really good with him.”
“Big kid meself.”
“I just...don’t feel like I know him.” He bends a little closer so Seb can’t hear. “Bex and I we didn’t really get on and I didn’t get to see him as much as I wanted so I’ve missed tons and I don’t know how to make up for that.”
“So don’t. You’re here now. My Mum left when I was eight and even when I found her again she didn’t really want to know. We’re alright now, but it’s hard to forgive her for that. Not leavin’, well not just that, but mostly for not caring. As long as he knows you care, that you love him more than anything else then there’s nothing to make up for.” Robert nods but doesn’t say anything. “Make sure you ask for help too if you need it. Not just Vic, but if he needs to talk to someone.”
“That sounds like experience.”
“Yeah. It helped me with stuff and it doesn’t mean you can’t cope.”
“That’s scary.”
“Nah, you’re a Sugden. Stubborn as they come, right?” He’s about to say something else when his radio crackles into action with a job. “Best get on.”
“Aaron...when he gets out of here...would you like to go for a drink or something?”
“Uh, sure. You still owe me that pint, remember?”
“I meant...more like a date. Maybe I shouldn’t when he’s still here and Bex is...and he’ll need me, but I like you Aaron. Forget it, I’m barking up the wrong tree.”
“No...I mean, you’re not wrong. When he’s sorted yeah?” Robert nods. “Right I better go before I get the sack. See ya later Seb.”
“See you later alligator.”
“In a while, crocodile.” He ruffles his hair gently as he goes. “See ya Robert.”
“Soon I hope.” Maybe today wasn’t too bad after all.
