Of course I’m going to add GIFs and images. Did anyone really expect me to post something without visual aids??

Do you make your own bed?

Not in terms of making it look all neat and tucked in, no. But that’s because I’m a teensy bit of a germaphobe, and humans naturally sweat at night, which means you must leave your mattress uncovered for a while after you get up to ensure it airs. So, for most of the day (because I forget to straighten it up), my bed just looks like this:

Favourite number?

It’s always been 2, and my reasoning used to be that all good things come in pairs. But having discovered my autism in recent years, I’ve come to realise it probably more likely represents the maximum number of people I’m most comfortable interacting with at any one time. So it’s a manageable number. It’s also an even number. And it’s a prime number (in fact it's the only even prime number). It’s a pretty number – it has a nice curved top and a solid, sturdy base. It stops 1 from being lonely, so it’s a kind number.

Is this a weird answer? All of these are really logical reasons to me!

What’s your job?

It’s become so specialised that I no longer have a job title, but I started as a legal PA for one of the senior partners at a Legal 500 law firm in London. I flirted with the idea of qualifying as a solicitor but realised there was no way in hell I’d be comfortable standing up in court and speaking in front of lots of people (and I work in the criminal law department so not keen on casually chatting to criminals either). Instead, I decided to become The Person Who Knows Everything.

So now I write briefs to Counsel, proofs of evidence, funding applications; I analyse evidence, conduct legal research, advise the solicitors on their cases; I train paralegals and admin staff; I do a load of data analysis and make pretty spreadsheets for the bosses; and I manage the firm’s IT needs because I can do computer stuff too. I’m basically their go-to girl for anything that seems complicated or time-consuming… and I don’t have to wear a stupid wig in court.

And the best part is, during Covid lockdown, I demonstrated I can do 100% of my job from home, so I was allowed to move 150 miles away, and I now only have to visit my office two days a month! 🙌🏻

Downside: the arduous and random nature of the job means I’m never up to date and always very tired.

If you could go back to school, would you?

My original plan after getting my undergrad degree was to do a Masters and PhD and become an academic, but I put all that on hold for my (now ex) husband so he could finish his PhD and first postdoc. I’m very glad I never went back, though, because I realise that academia is not the place for me… see above comment about not being able to stand up and talk in court to understand why standing up and talking in a lecture hall would be equally nerve-wracking for me. So, no, I’m content with my current level of schooling.

Honestly, university was more about learning how to ‘adult’ properly than obtaining any useful knowledge on the course anyway (she says, routinely using concepts learnt on her fiction writing modules when crafting Mando fics).

Can you parallel park?

Yup. Narrow roads and a lack of parking spaces in the UK kind of make it a non-optional skill here.

That said, I do sometimes see people desperately trying to line themselves up to get into a space and making an absolute farce out of it, so I guess maybe some people here think it’s optional, but I’d rather not have that kind of stress, so I practised until I could do it easily.

Do you think aliens are real?

The way this is phrased… do I think they’re real? Like, do I think the grey ones with big black eyes are anally probing residents in certain sections of North America on a regular basis? Hmm, no. Too many episodes of The X-Files. I mean, Fox Mulder: yum, but I really Don’t Want To Believe, thanks.

But, I remain open to the idea that alien life has evolved elsewhere in the known universe. It’s inconceivably huge, after all. There’s nowhere near enough data to prove (or even speculate) either way – just look at the Drake equation, which has been used to both ‘prove’ and ‘disprove’ the possibility – so I’ll reserve any kind of judgment until some real evidence appears.

Can you drive a manual car?

Yeah, of course. It’s the standard driving test in the UK and allows you to drive both automatic and manual – you actually have to specifically ask to learn only automatic if you decide you can’t handle gears. And, like, it’s all muscle memory, so it’s really not as hard as people think once you’re used to it. I tried to drive an automatic a few years back and found myself involuntarily shadow-shifting the gears!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Mostly, I don’t feel guilty about indulging in pleasures these days. I used to be really affected by social pressures (back before I discovered my autism and still felt like I had to ‘mask’ and fit in), so I used to feel guilty talking about my hyperfixations, but now I couldn’t care less. I shall consume them endlessly and unselfconsciously. It’s very liberating.

Any phobias?

I suppose the answer is sharks, which has no sensible basis for being a phobia because I’ve never had any real encounters to make me fearful (thank fuck!). In fact, I walked through the shark tunnel at SeaWorld just fine as a 7-year-old. Unless that planted some kind of seed of terror, I don’t know. Not sure when it really took hold, but I can’t even look at photos these days. It’s their damn teeth. Someone’s going to have to give me a tooth report on Gladiator II before I can go see it.

The hell if I’m gonna put a photo (or God forbid a GIF) of a shark here, so, umm…

Favourite childhood sport?

Two answers: (1) Football (AKA soccer). I played for a girl’s team when I was about 11, but it was only because the boy I liked was into football. I couldn’t give a shit about it these days, and I don’t think I ever really liked it – I was just ‘masking’, as I did for most of my childhood, but I convinced myself I loved it.

(2) Karate, which I decided all by myself that I fancied doing, then found I was actually quite good at it and excelled at it for a while. But I was 9, and they decided I was so good that I should go and join the adult class (age 14 and up), which I hated, so I quit.

Do you talk to yourself?

Sometimes, but not often. I live alone, so I occasionally just need to exercise my vocal cords lol. It also depends on what mood I’m in. On an average day, no, I don’t really feel the need to fill the silence, but if I’m excited/animated/annoyed in some way, I might say stuff aloud. Basically, if I’m inclined to utter curse words for any reason, I’ll probably use other words aloud too.

Tattoos?

I only have one right now, but I plan to increase that number someday. See photo below; I used to have chameleons as pets and got this tattooed near my right hip when I turned thirty to commemorate them. It’s really small.

I would like to get a phrase in Mando’a inked on me somewhere, probably “Kaysh meg miit’gaana, oyacyi”, which means “she* who writes, remains” [*substitute chosen pronoun – Mando’a doesn’t distinguish genders], and is a Mandalorian proverb teaching that you can live forever if you leave behind written words. I have it engraved on my iPad.

Favourite colour?

Very much the blue (with a hint of green) end of the colour spectrum. For something soft, duck egg blue, or for something bold, teal. See the colour of the titles in this post.

I also like the colours of hyperspace and would happily snuggle up with Din in the cockpit.

Do you like puzzles?

Yeah, I guess. I don’t dislike them. But I don’t really do them much. In terms of the crossword/sodoku/brain teaser sort, I might choose to do them in specific settings, like on vacation when I inevitably need to offer my brain something different than whatever book I’m binge-reading.

In terms of the jigsaw type, I have short phases of thinking, “Ooh, that’ll be fun!”, trying to do one, getting bored, and then forcing myself to finish. Last time that happened was Covid lockdown. Took me a year! Though, to be fair, it was one of these bastards…

Okay, I’m done. I realise I’m very late to the party, and a lot of people have already done this one, so sorry if you’ve already participated. No pressure (and no need to illustrate with gifs and images, I just can’t help myself)… 🩵

MANHWA REC LIST PART 2

WAR OF THE PRINCESSES

i finished catching up to this like 2 minutes ago [EDIT: WROTE THAT THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAYM NOW ITS 2 DAYS AGO] and i genuinely really liked this. for a manhua its amazing!! the plot is unique and keeps you guessing, the characters are entertaining and NOT cookie cutter cutouts of isekai tropes, theres been some interesting reveals and a lot of people in the comments were hating on ml but personally i found him super fun; hes very morally grey n has definite flaws but thats what makes him a good character to read about !! not to mention the main character herself is great. i hate that my bar for good manhwa/hwa characters has gone down to 'has more than 2 personality traits' but she is leaping over it for sure

PLEASE REPENT, YOUR GRACE!

i dont read yaoi i dont read bl. i have never ever read it . however the vibes were so strong that i had to go back and check the tags because.. if you read it... you will see. its so strong. it radiates. (all that aside i really like the relationship btn the mains i think its really fun. they may not be gay (????🤨🤨🤨🤔🤔) but its still highly enjoyable i love it)

THE BABY SAINT WANTS TO DESTROY THE WORLD!

ive read 2 chapters but i just think the 'evil character reincarmates into the pinnacle of goodness' trope is the funniest thing in the world. i have no clue if its going to be a generic collect the characters take over the world type of thing but i just think its funny and its the newest one ive read.

IT SEEMS I'VE TRANSMIGRATED SOMEWHERE

i have been waiting for aomethinf like this for SO LONG hahah the main character is so diddly darn confused the entire time cus in her past life shes read too much rofan etc and now cant figure out what novel shes trandmigrated into. regular manhwa reader fr,, anyway theres a strong case for second hand embarrassment in this one, especially in the first few chapters or so, but i genuinely really like this just cus its so self aware, it keeps poking fun at all the tropes and its a nice lighthearted read. also theres a decent amount of plot despite it all and OH I ALMOST FORGOT the male lead is an absolute 10 personalitywise i genuinely love him. hes here for drama and thats it its amazing. so yea id say tropey but Well Written super fun 👍👍👍

HIDING THE ARCHDUKE'S HUMILIATING HISTORY

i think this is the first manhwa ive read where the ml pisses himself in fear the first time he meets fl (theyre both children)(hes scared of something else not fl but still). anyway its nothing particularly unique but its pretty fun! its one of those novel isekai where mc reincarnates into a little kid and the structure makes it a sandwich which has been keeping me very invested. this isnt a very good advertisment but its a good way to pass the time i think. heres a nice reaction pic

SUSU, HAN

oh my god??? just binged this whole thign in one go. first of all ots complete, second of all i guess you can say tjis is a character study in manhwa form. there isnt a particular overarching antagomist, its the characters learning to grow and face their own personal issues. but its also a slice of life, and lighthearted family drama, and comedy. its not a rofan this time lol. also the sibling relationships in susu, han are so good !! and theres so many lovely platonic relationships too. i really really enjoyed it.

THE TALE OF GOLDILUCK, THE BLACK KITTEN

1010 Malt Shop - Green Plushie

It's done. It's finally done. 1 week of blood, sweat, and tears (mostly blood), and he's done.

But I don't have a good enough camera nor photography skills to really capture his true charm ;w;

(Boring self reflection + more pics under the cut)

Anyway, this is the project I've been working on lately. No particular thing really prompted this. Like most things I do, it was started on a whim and finished with will power. I don't really have much experience with plush making or sewing, so despite his obvious faults, I still think he turned out pretty nicely for an amateur.

As per usual, I didn't have enough foresight to document the process, but I can nonetheless talk about the experience and point out some details of it.

Firstly, he's a pretty large lad. Here he is compared to the official DJSS plush and one of the test prints I did of "Melon Float."

Counting his straw, he's about 16 inches tall. I wasn't counting on him being so big, so I don't really know what I'm gonna do with him now...

I say this took a week, but I probably could have quartered that time if I had a working sewing machine, but since I didn't, the majority of the time was spent just sewing the thing together. (Btw, pattern over here.) The only fabric details that weren't hand-sewn are the circle/stripe details on his pants and shoes, and the bow/buttons on his shirt, which were all glued on.

The base pattern didn't come with any clothes, so I just adapted the body patterns into clothes. Structurally, he's basically wearing a second skin~ I did think about making the gloves for the sake of accuracy, but at that point, the only skin he'd be showing is his face, and I wanted to keep some soft parts out since his clothes are so stiff. They're so stiff, they can stand on their own and be stacked on top of each other without falling over.

(The plush has a harder time standing than his clothes do...)

Speaking of the clothes, let me say right now that it bothers me more than anyone else that the paint details don't color-match his pants. I was so high on the euphoria of starting this project that when I was out getting supplies, I saw some glow-in-the-dark paint and thought it'd be a great idea since he's a robot and all. The color on the bottle looked close enough at the time, and the original plan was that only the face would be painted with the other details being felt, but on top of me forgetting that effects paint takes a long time to build up layers, the green also dried differently than I thought it would, so it threw everything off, but I didn't have the patience to suck it up and repaint everything with a better color match. I did try to add a light gradient with my pastels like in the original art work, but it turned out so light that it's barely perceivable and totally not worth the clamminess I get when I touch chalk.

I think the most time-consuming part was his hair. While sewing the body together took 2 days, the clothes 2 days, and painting 1 day, the hair took about 3 as I had to figure out essentially how to do it myself on the fly. The first day was mostly trial and error. I did find a couple of online tutorials about how to get this loopy yarn hair, but the ones that I found both required tools that I didn't have. Eventually, I figured out a way to make it work, but I feel like it was less than efficient:

Basically, his hair is made with chunks of yarn that are tied together, and each chunk is individually sewn into place. I didn't count, but I think there are 13-14 hair chunks total to give him a full head. I do like how I made his bangs uneven to mimick how I draw his hair, but I couldn't quite pull off having his distinct hair-part and I couldn't figure out how to give the illusion of half his hair being straight without it looking weird. (I did try cutting the loops to let the strands be straight, but I didn't like the look of it, so I kept them all loopy).

This is a weird thing to say out of context, but I'm especially proud of the back of his head. Originally I was just going to paint on his undercut (which I'm glad I didn't because this paint REALLY hardens the cotton), so I got the bright idea to sew on individual strands of yarn for it. I think the effect is great, but I would not wish it upon my worst enemy, because to get the effect, I had to sew on each. strand. individually. The day I made the face poll, and said that was going to be a break day? I wound up doing this instead, and it took just as long to sew in those 20+ strands of yarn as it did the rest of his hair.

To segway into that poll, as you can see, I went with option 2 with some slight edits. Just the white/green eyes looked a little plain to me, so I added my usual dark pupil and added a green-star glitter to the center. I'm the one that has to live with this thing for the foreseeable future, so I made some executive decisions. Unfortunately, there were a few errors while painting, which you can clearly see in the above pictures OTL. I did try to seal off my painting areas with tape, but it still bled and stained in a few places. I don't really know if it's possible to clean the stains without ruing the rest of the face, but if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

There are a few extra details that I guess are worth pointing out: he's actually wired. I put in some armature wire so he'd be able to move his limbs despite the stiff felt but... I didn't secure them that well, and the wire for his arms got displaced, so I currently can't bend them ;3;. I'd have to open him up again to replace it, and I REALLY don't want to undress him again to get to his back. The worst thing about this plush is that his clothes are so stiff that he's actually very hard to dress.

The wire in his legs is mostly still in place, so he can at least (kinda) sit.

I think the last thing worth talking about is the ice cream accessory. It was really simple to make (it's just air dry clay over foil + extra pieces), but it's cute, so I wanted to point it out~

It's a hair clip, so it can be taken on and off. Theoretically, it could be worn by a person, but it's a little heavy to be wearing it all day~ The camera/lighting really blew out the colors, but I think it turned out to be a nice creamy french vanilla color like I really wanted~

Other details like the glitter on his eyes/cheeks can't really be captured on my shitty ipod camera, but rest assured that he is pleasantly sparkling~

I think my biggest takeaway from this project has been materials: I thought that using felt would be a great alternative to having to buy an entire yard of fabric for a one time project, but besides the paint, it was the hardest material to work with. If I have to pick and choose, next time I think the body will be felt, and the clothes will be cotton, or maybe I'll actually invest in some fleece, so it can be soft all the way~ Since the clothes are removable, I could theoretically make him his default sailor suit and just replace the straw with his proper hair loop to convert this into a "canon" design plush, but we'll see what the future holds. I did get the felt colors to make my *other* babygirl, but given this experience, I may hold off on making him until a much later date.

1. My pony OC Sue! (Full name Susanne Zoe)

I really love her. She's with me for over 10 years now. A few years ago she also finally got some lore, so I love her even more. <3 She got a younger sister Zoe, but I'm still working on her design, but it's not about her now.

I have an image of her from one fantasy challenge, and unfortunately it's just a screenshot, not a full art. Maybe some day I'll post some of her art I made! (Though I mostly draw for other people except myself, so I don't have much art of my OCs that I made :< )

2. My second favourite to draw is my OC Felicja! I love her so much!!! <33

I'm still working on her lore, but she got a beautiful girlfriend and works at Carrefour and occasionally as a maid. B)

There's still a possibility that I will change some colours and maybe add some things, but I'm showing her anyway. <3

4. Shin Tsukimi!!! Maybe I don't like to draw his beanie and the dots on his scarf, but I actually like to draw his hair. His hair is soooo nice to draw. I don't know how to explain it, I just like how I move my hand while drawing him.

5. I want to draw Iris from The Witcher III: Hearts of Stone DLC. She's a very pretty woman and her story is so sad. :( I was crying a lot while progressing this DLC.

Characters I want/like to write about:

1. I want to write about Naruto.

I have an idea for an AU where Naruto joins ANBU. And I know other people wrote about it already, but I have my own idea and Goldy said it's a nice thing, so I want to try in the future because I think no one has ever written a story like this before. But I'll leave more details to myself, so nobody accidentally takes the idea from me. <3

2. I like to write Stardew Valley things, even though I only wrote about Sebastian and now I'm trying to finish my One-Shot about Leo. So let's say I want to write about Leo. I hope this part will motivate me to finish it.

3. I want to write more about Sebastian from Stardew Valley. I like his character.

4. I want to write about YTTD Sara. I have a really nice idea for an AU but I still have a lot to prepare. But I already love how the story might go, so I'm excited to work on it!! <3

anime con log diary whatever

the epic outfit for today:

thankfully no traffic so that was epic. i was there pretty early (10:30-ish) so it was easy to find parking. got lost in the mall for like ten minutes until me and friend found some staff members for the con, and they showed us the way. the entrance was rly out of the way lol, usually theres two point of entries, but one was out of service. u had to follow a rly specific path to get there. there were also a bunch of buddha statues near the entrance stairway?

idk what was up with that. anyways since we were early there was no queue for us to get in. very nice. also its the weekday so i heard that theres significantly less ppl here today than there'll be the next two days. also very nice.

several booths were still being set up while we walked around. we checked out the official vendors first before checking out the artist alley, which was the main reason we were there. immediately my friend finds and starts buying some hoyoverse merch. i check the booths out w her for a while and then i get myself a green tea latte. then we check out the goodsmile booth and i find these

very cool but i do not get them, bc 1.) expensive, and 2.) i do not like plastic figurines. i also stop my friend from buying a persona 5 joker figurine. she goes and buy some more hoyoverse stuff instead. then we go check out the artist alley... and then friend realizes she left her water bottle somewhere. and as per usual with the cons i go to w her, we are seperated. and then we meet up again, but not before i buy two epic items:

i am sooo happy w these two purchases 💜 they were the only ones of their kind, so im glad i got them when i did. the gengar plush will live on my purple bag and be gomamons new neighbor, like so:

^ this was also how my bag looked for the rest of the day 🤭 yayyyy 💞 anyways after looking thru the artist alley some more, we take a break to get some food. cuz we barely had anything for breakfast and we are fucking starving. the food area looks like this:

and everything there was unsurprisingly expensive lol. me and friend get the cheapest thing there, which are pizzas

tho im kinda starting feeling nauseous at this point.. and have to keep myself from throwing up. thats what happens when u take supplements + drive + drink a green tea latte on a nearly empty stomach and little sleep. dont do that. so i go to the bathroom and freshen up, and eventually i feel better. i eat three slices of pizza and give the last slice to friend, and sadly have to throw away the rest of the latte or i would feel sick again. but i feel way better now that ive eaten.

we then spend the next two hours going thru the rest of the artist alley. me and my friend joked abt the possibility of finding at least 1 (one) kgpr merch. or possibly tota merch. but unsurprisingly, there was absolutely none Lol. tho i did find vesperia merch instead

literally only one booth was selling vesperia merch haha. also surprisingly there were quite a few ace attorney merchs? its surprising to me cuz the last art event i went to only had one narumitsu sticker in the entire place. but here there were several

^like this artist, who i didnt know was based in malaysia! ive seen their comics on tumblr a few times. didnt buy from them tho, sorryyy.. anyways, various pics from the artist alley:

after we finished looking thru the artist alley and had bought our fill of art (and good god did my friend buy loads of art), i checked out a second hand vendor that i saw earlier. they had loadssss of stuff, and me and friend spent a good 15 minutes digging thru this massive tub of pins and keychains in hopes of finding smth good

i was rly hoping to find something tota or kgpr in here, cuz if they were anywhere in this convention they would be here.. but sadly there was none haha. it was rly funny digging thru this thing, i kinda felt like a racoon/archeologist. oh but i did find these two pins which made me laugh

and in the end i found and bought a bunch of revue starlight merch + a cute embroidered pin

and then after that we finally left the con.. we spent a good 5 hours in there. we went to a store for me to grab some stuff for home, then played 2 rounds of taiko hehe (6 songs total). then we went to grab some food

^ the mall the convention is in also has a fucking river flowing thru it lol. i remember seeing this as a kid, its been over ten years since ive last been here

then i drove my friend home in ATROCIOUS weather... omfg it was raining so heavily. and stupid navigation app sent me to drive on some nearly flooded roads 😑😑😑😑 but we made it in one piece and i chilled in her room for a bit. she took a pic of everything she brought... which was SO MUCH LOL

Okay...I'm doing it. I'm showing off the hot mess of progress of the possibly decent, or absolutely hot garbage, cosplay of my version of human!Ink. I do have a nice chunk of the items for the cosplay - just gotta put it together. Most of the putting together can be done in a day, and I have until July to finish it all, soooo...we'll see how this goes! ^^;

Now I'll just post updates maybe every other day, or once a week, since I do have most of it in hand. And it will all be under the cut, since it'll long as fuck. So, without further ado, let's begin, shall we?

First off, this is probably the most ambitious cosplay I've ever done. Normally I do something easy. Examples: Stiles from TW, casual Keith from VLD, and recently (for Halloween) genocide route Frisk. debating on positing what garbo pics i have of those

Flowerfell!Frisk? Probably the most complex I've done, and only because I had to have help make a flower crown, actually use fabric glue for the flowers and little heart on the shorts and flower on the mask , painted up a random prop stick I had lying around no idea why i had that , and did a little bit of faint make-up. And ended up with this:

So after that, for some damned reason, I decided it would be a GREAT idea to do a difficulty jump and do Ink! Yaaaaay...I'm so smart. I have been looking at this as a reference for what I need mostly coz i had it saved on my phone already , which has been both motivation to get this done...but also a little intimidating. But I'm already too far into this. Can't back out now!

Anyways, enough rambling! Let's start with the first update on this silly thing!

HOODIE

So, firstly, I already had my eye on the Ink hoodie from @simakai's shop! I already have the Underfell one that I used for my Flowerfell!Frisk cosplay. I also have the Outertale hoodie, bi pride hoodie, and ace pride hoodie all from Simakai! They are all amazing hoodies, and I actually just bought Epic's hoodie from their new shop! Definitely check them out! They're comfy, well made, and I'll admit I wear my Outertale and Underfell hoodies out sometimes.

The pic doesn't do it justice (hence all the millions of links above), but tada! The hoodie! My biggest worry is maybe tripping on the scarf, but I think I can manage. place your bets coz my ass clumsy

Also, there is a little surprise in it!

Twas quite the laughing jumpscare when I was messing with the pockets.

Update 2 time!

Apologies for how garbage the pics are for this part. Space was a mess at the time, and I'm too lazy to redo it. With that out of the way...let's ramble!

PANTS

So, next to the sash for the vials, this was surprisingly the hardest thing for me to find. I couldn't find anything that looked "just right". The first pair that I bought did look just right...but the color was way off. Way too bright from what was advertised. Took me a while to find another pair, and I actually bought two more. one of which i may use for a ftfo!ink Now, the next pair is the right color...but it's just a nice pair of sweats/joggers. Which is a bit of a bummer, but seeings how I cannot sew/make a full blown pair of pants (can barely sew at all), and my stepmom (who can sew) isn't that insanely skilled, they will have to do.

Here is a pic of the pants side-by-side coz for the longest time I was going to go with the first pair I bought. But after putting it together with the top...no. Just...no. Did not look good. You'll have to take my word for it.

And before you ask, yes. I will have assistance sewing on the little suspenders. That will be two separate posts on their own in the future! It won't be just plain brown pants.

GLOVES

So these were a bit easy to get. Granted, I did buy two pairs, because I couldn't decided initially. It was only after trying them on that I could make a decision.

They are a bit long, but I can live with that. especially coz I am not planning on doing the tatts, that would end terribly And, yes, they are missing that little piece on the pinky. Just like the pants are missing the suspenders. And just like with those, I will be having assistance sewing that piece on!

I could show you want I have of that, but I'm planning on making that one big update.

SHOES

Yes. Shoes. I know our favorite souless bean doesn't wear shoes anymore...but I have to. No need to get my toes all messed up! Especially at this convention center. Walking around there can be a nightmare! Closed toed or not. 😭

Anyway!

Shoes!

They were sadly kind of expensive, but these were the closest I could find that kind of fit for what I was going for and i looked at custom ones first. Plus, I will be wearing these outside of the cosplay. So I get shoes for cosplay, and shoes for whenever I wanna wear them - a win-win.

But, one more thing! I will also I guess ruin them, in a way. How will I ruin them? Well...I was thinking of adding more splatter to them. Plus, see that pesky logo? Welp...I also had an idea for that.

And I'll just leave this update at that. >:3

Update 5! Long time coming, I know. But a lot of what I have left are bigger pieces that have a few extra things I gotta do, and I just haven't been focused on doing them. But since I'm actually going to finish this one this weekend, I decided to show the unfinished product. With that being said, here we go!

VIALS

These were actually so hard to find! I couldn't find anything that worked! And I originally started looking during the Halloween season, too! When these type of things would be more around. But everything was either way too big or just straight up decorative glass. Which...yeah. Would not do!

Eventually, after searching for ages, I found these on Etsy.

They're originally for necklaces, which, even though they are glass, they're hopefully a tad more sturdy. And, if things work out, I'll have a perfect way to keep them in the sash! We shall see.

I also found these!

Figured it would be fun to have little earrings on human!Ink.

Now, for the paints in the vials, I was having a hard idea what to do. Part of me wanted to put real paint in there. Yeaaaaah...probably not the best idea. But I finally figured it out, and I'll be working on it this weekend!

Hello hello hello! Tis time for the final rush post of the process! It's all the final stuff, so yay. Pics of the full cosplay will be up either later on after the con, or the day after.

So, without further ado...here we go!

PANTS PART II

Tada! Simple little thing. Probably one of the easiest to do with the whole shebang. And the straps?

Ribbon. Ain't that neat? XD

GLOVES PART II

So this was a bit tricky. I had cloth from an old t-shirt to do for the pinky, but it kept making the sewing machine freak the fuck out since it's such a small piece. I did have backups of gloves that i could wear under the brown ones and cut off all the other fingers. Unfortunately, the two pairs I got turned out to be bright, obnoxious blue instead of the sort of teal-ish/mint color as advertised. So I had to get a third pair, which was a darker green and sheer. Not exactly what I wanted, but eh. Oh well. Creative liberties!

Here is the final result! I had to cut the pinky on the brown gloves too so it looked a little better. And the nail polish is close to what they'll be at the con, just more cleaned up.

SHOES PART II

Okay! Shoes! These came out a little better than I thought they would! And they were fortunately very easy to do. (Which I needed after a few things causing issues)

Tada! Fun little nod to his old shoes (before he had nada)! And of course the black "ink". The paint refused to splatter like I wanted, but oh well. Still pretty happy about it.

VIALS PART II

These actually proved to be more difficult than I anticipated. Many coats were needed, and even then they sort of still smeared oddly. Despite that, they turned out pretty great! I especially love the ink vial earrings. Those definitely were difficult due to their size.

SASH

Whoo-hoo! The sash! Fortunately, my stepmom is a sewing whiz and she helped a great deal with making sure this part of the cosplay came to be. So, here is the sash before:

Definitely was a bit rough, since the Joanne's we went to lost all momentum to care since the bankruptcy filing. And it did fray a little bit upon the cutting of the pattern. Not enough to absolutely ruin it, thank hell.

Tada! Vials in sash! Thankfully, they all are snug as a bug in a rug in those pockets! .... With super glue. Really didn't have a choice on that front. Still, for something as ambitious as this, something I definitely went clueless in to, happy it turned out as good as it did.

WIG

Okay! This...this bitch...was a nightmare. I had never styled a wig before, and for some reason thought it would be a good idea if I did! Had a nice tutorial vid all qued up and thought I was all set! Except...the wig was an absolute tangled mess and took ages to untangle. It was also the second wig I had bought, coz the first one, for some unknown reason, was more purple than advertised. So wig number two, I had to buy in a hurry and it was a tad cheap since I'm on a bit of a budget (moving at the start of August ftw).

But, finally, after hours of fighting with this beast, this is the end result:

The braid will be pulled back into the makeshift ponytail, since I actually do have to pull it back up once it is secured onto my head, but otherwise this is the final result. The blue and pink (squint and you'll see it) are extensions I added, which also proved to be a challenge. Still proud of it all for someone who has never done more than brush a wig before! Though, never again. At least for a long ass while. ;_; thank you Dust for being an easy cosplay for next year

MAKEUP

I can't really show the full makeup I have to do until, well, it's all done, but I have tried it all out and hooray! It all works! So, instead, here is the nice pile I will have to use:

We got two different shade of eyeshadow, since I can't do colored contacts. My eyeballs are...very weird. Only one eye will allow a colored contact, and I did not wanna waste money to only use one contact. So one eye will have green eyeshadows, and the other will have yellow eyeshadows.

There's also gonna be blue eyeliner with the green eye having it on the underlid, and they yellow eye having it on the upper lid. To make it all "whimsical" and "silly".

There's a pencil liner to create the inkblot shape, black face paint to fill it in, and black eyeshadow to help make it even darker. i am a master of doing some cool shit with eyeshadow

I have two different sprays to help keep the makeup on longer. And, of course, the foundation and concealer coz I will look like a zombie otherwise lols.

Yeah...I am...gonna be having a blast with this lot. Especially making sure I can remake the really nice inkblot I did when testing it out. Fingers crossed and best wishes for my dumb ass for being so ambitious.

BROOMIE

No. I will not show this one. Just picture a wig on a stick and there you go. Needless to say, as much as I wanted to like it...I don't. It looks so bad. 99% sure I will not bother bringing bootleg Broomie with me. Makes me sad, but hey...can't win them all.

Okay, so that's it! I'll do a part two of this post since, whoops! I have hit my limit! So, with the next post, I'll have the bag I specifically got for this cosplay (and will totally be using it later), and the full cosplay itself!

-Bouncing back into canon this one makes me think a lot about how much Ayame bottles her feelings/emotions, likely out of not wanting to bother others with problem she doesn't know how to deal with herself; "Don't do anything for me" makes me think of that aspect of her character of not wanting people to worry or even grief over her in post trial 2.

Also the parts which are about the singer and a person wanting to distance themselves from them makes me think if her and Akane as in, Akane not wanting Ayame to have killed to save her since she didn't want her to die but Ayame does it anyway becaus she couldn't bear to let her die "You tell me what to do, but doesn't try to understand that i do it just to please you"

Also the tone of this song just sounds so ethereal to me, and i think that fits her nicely.

One day, Gojo Satoru and Suguru Geto were in the mall getting some sugary drinks from their favorite restaurant. While both of them were chatting with eachother about the Jujutsu Sorcerers would need to do, then you randomly walked up to both of them, as you said, "Hello. My name is, (Any Gender Reader Name). I couldn't help noticing that you were fighting some monsters the other day. I mean I don't have any abilities aside from seeing the creatures, however that was awesome what the both of you did. Geto was surprised to meet a non sorcerer, who can also see cursed spirits. Gojo, blushed about what you mentioned.

You then mentioned, "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone else, unless you tell me too.", then asked, "What are your names, if you don't mind me asking?". Gojo shakes your hand, as he goes, "Well, I'm Gojo Satoru. Nice to meet you, (Any Gender Reader).", then winked at you. While Geto isn't fond of non sorcerers, however there's something magical about you that already gives him butterflies in his stomach, as he says, "My name is, Suguru Geto, (Miss/Mr.). However I prefer to be called Geto. You seemed like a very good person.", trying to ignore his own blushing. "Why, thank you, Mr. Geto! You seemed nice, as well. As, for you, Mr. Gojo, you seemed like you have, an amazing sense of humor!", you mentioned, you then began to exchange phone numbers with both Gojo and Geto, before saying your good byes to them, as you happily said, "Nice meeting you both and I hope we meet again, especially soon.", the proceeded to wink at both Gojo and Geto. As Gojo and Geto, we're leaving their favorite restaurant with their sugary drinks, Gojo smiled, as he mumbled to Geto, "I thought you didn't care much for non sorcerers. You seemed to like one already.", sounding happy for Geto. Geto then replied, as he mumbled back, "Well, Gojo... I only like (him/her/them). That's it. It doesn't mean I totally have a complete change of heart.".

After Gojo and Geto left their favorite restaurant, another man smirked and said, "Now I can see clearly. Now I know who I plan to get with.", about you, as he has seemingly overheard the conversation that Gojo and Geto had with you. After he finished eating and drinking his sugary drink of his own, then started leaving the restaurant stated to himself, "Now I can initiate the conversation with that (Any Gender) when I find (him/her/them) and win (his/her/their) heart! And the best part is ((s)he is neither a vessel nor a sorcerer.", as he smirked. After he left the restaurant, he then saw you coming out of your favorite store in the mall as he sees this as a perfect opportunity to start his first conversation with you.

He then started introducing himself to you, "Hey, now... It's not every day I see a (beautiful/handsome) (Any Gender)... By the way my name's Toji! What's your name, (beautiful/handsome)?", as he smiled at you. You then replied, " Oh. Hi, Mr. Toji. My name is (Any Gender Reader Name). It's so nice to meet meet you.". You and Toji then continued their conversation, then you decided to exchange phone numbers with Toji Fushiguro, you then told him, "Hopefully we see eachother again anytime soon, Mr. Toji.", you then gave him a cute smile.

A few minutes later, Gojo and Geto were at one of the stores, as Gojo was picking sone nice and expensive gifts for you. With a board and an annoyed look his face, Geto sighed, then he said, "Are you sure this, Gojo? I honestly don't see the point of getting expensive gifts for, (Any Gender Reader Name).". Then Gojo then smiled, as he replied, "Jealous much, Geto? Some people enjoy having nice gifts.". Geto then complained, "No, I'm not jealous. I think making dinner foods and goodies would be more suitable and there's a difference between buying gifts and gift bombing, for your information.". Gojo then ignored Geto, then smiled as he replied, "Yeah, yeah...", before Toji arrived in the store, as he butted in as he said, "Well, well, if it isn't a couple of Jujutsu Sorcerers. I guess we all have the same taste in (beautiful/handsome) (Any and/or All Gender(s)), after all!".

Gojo then gave him a blank look and is right now seeing Toji as his rival for your affection, while Geto gave Toji an annoyed look. Toji then turned his attention to Geto, as he continued, "And I thought I knew you better, than that Geto! I thought you hate all non sorcerers!", then proceeded to snicker. Geto then replied, "You shut your mouth! This person is the exception!". Gojo then said, "That's enough, Geto. And Toji. Why are you trying to cause trouble with us, anyways?".

Toji then laughed, as he answered, "I have no intentions of causing any trouble with you sorcerers! Let's just say I met the same person, I overheard the both of you talk to earlier. ((S)he/they) is sure (pretty/handsome)!". "Then what are you bothering us for, Toji? We have better things to do than deal with you right now!", Gojo said. Toji then explained his proposal, "Well, since we all have a crush on the same person and ((s)he/they) likes us too, so we might, as well compete for (his/her/their) affection! We do our thing to show off what we decide to provide for (Any Gender Reader Name) and the best man ((s)he/they) choose out of the three of us, will get the (Any Gender) and will get have (him/her/them) live with the winner, as well. Deal?!". Gojo then said, "The best man wins, huh?", he then smirked at Toji, as he continued, "I guess a deal it is. Geto then agreed and said, "Well, I guess best man wins then. You're going down, Toji!". Toji then smirked, as he said, "Now that's the spirit then! See you sorcerers in a week then! So long for now!", before he proceeded to leave the store in the mall Gojo and Geto are in. Gojo then told Geto, "You heard, Toji. Let's do our thing to win (Any Gender Reader Name)'s affection!". Geto then said, "Well, since I can do my thing for affection, I will definitely do something else to do so, instead what you're doing.". Gojo then smiled and said, "I'm proud of you, for the fact that you're being you! Remember, the best man wins and as long as one of us gets (him/her/them), that's all that matters to me!", then Geto replied, "Yes, the best man sure does win and I agree with you that ((s)he/they) will be in good hands, as long as, one of us wins (him/her/them). Shall we begin, Gojo?", then the both of them shake hands with eachother on what they discussed with eachother about after Toji, left the store.

During the week, Gojo picked out plenty of expensive gifts that you might like, Toji Fushiguro captured some cursed spirits to hold them hostage until it was time (for Gojo, Geto, and Toji) to meet you for the second time when that time comes, and Geto decided to cook plenty of food as it gets closer to the day of meeting you for the second time and he has been making other homade gifts, as well.

When that week was over, the time of meeting you for the second time with what Gojo, Geto, and Toji are going to show off for you, came. Gojo gave you plenty of expensive gifts, which really surprised you. Toji letted all of the cursed spirits he captured out, to only slaughter them with his (cursed tool of reader's choice), as the cursed spirits ended up bleeding to no end, even after death. As for Geto, he fed you some dinner foods he cooked for you, some goodies he baked for you, and plenty of homemade gifts that you found, so cute.

Since after Gojo, Geto, and Toji showed off for you by doing their own thing(s), you then had to do some thinking who you feel you're most most impressed with abd feel most compatible with, as well. You just knew you had to make a decision on who will be in a relationship with and to live with, as well. You then announced, "And the winner is..."

Toji was disappointed with the results, however he did smirk, as he said, "Since, (Any Gender Reader) picked you, as the winner, then you must be the best man, and I did say the best man wins, as promised.". Then Gojo happily replied, "That's right, Toji! The best man wins and I'm the best man, since I won (him/her/them)!", as he grinned. With a smile on his face Geto replied to Gojo, "And ((s)he/they) made the correct choice, by picking you."

Gojo then, found an expensive place to live in with you. He has been buying you alot of expensive gifts, expensive meals, expensive haircuts, expensive groceries, etc... He just loves to spoil you with lots of expensive luxuries. He will also protect you from anyone and any cursed spirit who ever comes near you. As much as, Gojo loves buying you expensive stuff, he also cares about your safety, as well.

Gojo enjoys watching movies and TV shows with you. You're watching the show or movie he's not fond of, he will tolerate, however if you're watching a movie or TV show he likes, he would definitely definitely keep his eyes glued to the movie or TV show. He will definitely cuddle with you, no matter which movie or TV show you're watching.

The day has finally came, as both you and Gojo were about to have an expensive and fancy wedding, even with Geto being "The Best Man" of the wedding. After the wedding day, Gojo decided to take you to an expensive and fancy hotel on your honeymoon with him. Gojo has even bought really comfy pajamas, since he wanted to spoil you with night clothes, just like anything else.

"Well (Any Gender Reader Name), what do you think about the place?", Gojo asked, as he smiled. You then replied, "Well Gojo, I'm impressed with the hotel and also, you're impressive, as always.", as you kissed him on one of his sides of his facial cheeks. Gojo blushed about that kiss from you. After both you and Gojo finished the activities the both of you did in the hotel, the both of you decided to get ready for bed. You even put on the comfy pajamas, he got for you.

Both you and Gojo proceed to lay on the shared hotel bed. As much as he likes to cuddle, he prefers that you cuddle him, which you did cuddle him that night. It turned out to be the best night's sleep both you and Gojo ever had.

You remembered what we agreed on, my friend!", as he gave Geto the thumbs up, as his was of congratulating him. Geto replied to Gojo, "Yes, I sure do remember. Now time to take my prize.", as you blushed. Toji then mumbled to Geto, " Impossible... You cheated! I clearly feel that you, sucked up!". Then Geto happily replied to Toji, "As I recalled, we all get to do our own thing to show off what we decide to provide for (Any Gender Reader Name) and the best man ((s)he/they) choose out of the three of us, will get the (Any Gender) and will get have (him/her/them) live with the winner, as well! That was the deal you mentioned. I don't remember what we couldn't do to do so. And I must have did something right, fair and square for (him/her/them) to choose me.", as he unintentionally gloated.

Geto found this Japanese style house to have you live in. Any clothing you wanted, he made it for you himself and if he has to be willing knit the clothing for you. Geto definitely loves to cook dinner meals for you and he will even bake homade goodies for you, if you asked him to. He will not tolerate anyone or anything using attacks on you! Not a cursed spirit! Not another human! No one and nothing will get near you, if he feels that the person or cursed spirit (etc...) is not safe for you to be around. So, he is very protective of you. Until he knows for sure you will be safe, he will keep an eye on you.

Geto actually prefers to do the chores by himself. When you bug him to let you help him, he tells you, "No, dear. I really got this. Thank you for the offer, sweetie.", then smiles, so as much as he appreciates you offering to help him, he will decline, as politely as possible, while he prefers to take care of the chores by himself. He worries you will overwork yourself for some reason.

When your and Geto's wedding day came, it became an amazing day for everyone, including you and Geto. And Gojo was "The Best Man" of the wedding. The wedding was a Japanese theme and plenty of Japanese cherry blossom trees, plenty of Japanese cherry blossoms, etc...This Japanese style wedding them is mostly a Japanese cherry blossom theme, which you really loved the whole wedding, including your groom, Geto. He even made sure to create some cherry blossom theme kimonos when he takes you to your honeymoon with him.

Like the home you and Geto lived in, the honeymoon is Japanese style, however the honeymoon is more of a countryside and has exotic animals you haven't seen in the (city or town) you and Geto both live in and it's very peaceful there, too. When night time came Geto took you outside, so you can watch the birds chirp and the wind blowing the cherry blossoms at night. It was just as beautiful outside at night time, as it is in the daytime. He loved it there, while he's very delighted that you loved it there, as well.

After both you and Geto went inside your shared room with him, the both of you got yourselves ready to go to bed, as the both of you wore the Japanese cherry blossom theme kimonos, that Geto had made. As the both of you were cuddling, Geto said, "(Any Gender Reader Name), you're the best thing to ever happen to me.". You then replied, "Geto, you're the best thing to ever happen to me, too.". Afterwards the both of you proceeded with a good night kiss, then drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

This proves that no expensive gifts, nor homade foods and things, are even enough for you sorcerers to win, (Any Gender Reader Name) over! Anything to say for yourselves?". Geto was shocked Toji won (and more annoyed with Toji's intentional gloating), however he calmed himself back to his composure and said, "Well, you did say the best man will win, and you won. Just please show some good sportsmanship, since I know you're trying to get under our skins.", trying his best to be a good sport. Gojo was a little irritated as he said, "Well that maybe true you won (him/her/them) over, however all I can ask is... Please don't hurt, (Any Gender Reader Name)? If you hurt (him/her/them), we will hunt you down.". Toji then replied, "Well that's a deal then. I have no intentions on hurting, (Any Gender Reader). And plus both you and Geto can be like brother in laws or future brother in laws for (him/her/them)! I mean I can't stand sorcerers, however the only reason I'm not harming the both of you, is only for, to keep (Any Gender Reader Name) happy.". You then asked, "Out of curiosity, what's your last name Toji?". He replied, "Call by Fushiguro, please. I was born with the last name Zenin, however I have issues with that last name. So call me by Toji Fushiguro and not Toji Zenin, please?", you then respected his wishes about his name.

What Toji picked for a house, is actually something that was a warehouse, so he decided to turn what used to be a warehouse, into a nice home for both you and himself to live in. He has been a little nicer to Gojo and Geto since you decided to be in the relationship with him, otherwise anyone he doesn't care for nor trust, he will threaten them to stop talking to you and stay away from you, without you knowing ofcourse. While he cares about your safety, he just rather not risk having an argument with you and rather avoid confrontation with you.

He enjoys hunting for other sorcerers and cursed spirits to make extra money to put food in your stomach, just incase you get hungry. He pretty much uses the cursed spirits as his trophies, especially using certain cursed spirits he killed to make a rug out of and if you want him to make clothes out of the other cursed spirits, you're actually the only one he will do that for. Other sorcerers he killed he won't do that, because you're one person he rather not scar for life. He would only do the same to the other, only if he fully knows you're okay with it.

When the time came you and Toji both got married. The wedding was obviously had plenty of dead cursed spirits (he's using as trophies) for the wedding theme. After the wedding he decided to pick out a log cabin inside the woods, for your honeymoon with him. He unusually does this for you, as he bought you revealing clothing for you to wear to sleep in during your honeymoon with him. He really wanted to get you night clothes for you wear at night.

Toji then decided to confess. "Listen, babe. It's not my first marriage, however I promise I will treat you better than I did with my first wife and my child, Megumi. I regret making that mistake with my first marriage and I promise not to make a mistake with this marriage.", Toji admitted, while he setting you and himself up for bedtime. You're like the fact that he was honest with you about what he said to you. So after he got done setting you and himself up for bedtime, you petted him, as you comfort him, as you knew he regretted what he did in his first marriage.

After you finished comforting him, he then, decided to let you on the bed first, then he went on the bed. He covered himself and you up with a big blanket.You're also the first person he actually cuddled with. Then both you and Toji went off to sleep.

I figured that since it caught my attention that alot of people seemed to like Gojo Satoru, Suguru Geto, and Toji Fushiguro (Birthname: Toji Zenin), which i can see why, especially with Gojo, so I decided to work on a fanfic pertaining the 3 of them, while having the ending of the fanfic be based on which character of the 3 the reader pics out as their favorite of the 3😁👍I do apologize about the slight spoiler for 1 of the characters😅 I just wanted to makesure I worked on the endings properly and hopefully I did so🤞So with the ((Jujutsu Kaisen Character) x reader depending on which character the reader has chosen, I figured I give this fanfic that kind of shake up the way I've written it😃👍I'm not sure, if anyone has written any fanfics where the ending would a specific way depending on the chosen character, however I figured it'd be cool and fun to have a fanfic written like that😃👍I really had alot of fun with writing this fanfic and I hope you have as much fun reading it, so have a good day or night, my Tumblr Peeps😁👍

I've finished the Natlan Archon Quest today

1st act - 29th and 30th August, 2nd act 31th August

! Spoilers to the 1st and 2nd Natlan Archon Quest act under the cut + mentions of Fontaine Archon Quest act 1!

I won't lie, with every passing nation genshin just constantly improves upon their storytelling and I'm positively surprised that the thing back from Mondstadt, namely - purification has come in handy.

On the day where they had to do the Ode to Ressurection on Kachina I sensed the ominous vibes already but it was still quite shocking to know that she couldn't be broguht back. Atea also looked gorgeous, hoyo really upps their game with npc's

The Archon? Super cool, sacrifices herself and all, also her fight with Capitano? So long and amazing! Haven't expected that to last this long. She looks absolutely fire and I can't wait to pull for her already! Her family also looked gorgeous.

Also Capitano in itself should also be talked about, it was so wow. I love the way he discarded his cloak, it felt so cool! His design is also stunning!

Now speaking about this screen, seems like Xilonen is really skilled in the craft of Children of Echoes, just as the fact that she's a part of the plan to save Natlan. I honestly haven't expected her there at all but it still seems better than dragging a whole child to that (even tho sending Kachina to the war with the Abyss where she can die is still not ideal-)

For the other 2 participants I can guess they'll be Chasca and Citlali, since they both are from the clans that had not yet been awakened, and they're the only soon-to -be playable characters from those tribes.

I have not much to say about this patch since yes, it was exciting but it only builds the anticipation for the mainer and grander parts of the story, where this whole quest seemed to introduce us to at a stedy pace. Unlike Fontaine where we've been quite literally thrown into a trial in the first act - opposite to being only infodumpled in Natlan.

Still can't decide which ones I enjoyed more...

Btw Pacal is great- We love a responsible adult figure around here! (kinda concerned over Mualani chief) and Chasca's sister with a cool design, wow! Her name is still a bit of a tongue-breaker to me, like wdym her name is spelled like that and yet you read it so differently.. Iansan has a very nice design too! I like it a lot

And this pics with Mualani were really cool! Haven't expected them in the main story at all, since I did saw them before, I 100% thought they were from the Story quest

Oops, no sky pic today.

Positive thing: I slept a lot, and had a very normal and chill day.

Since I stayed up until 7am rewatching 逃げ恥 scenes I woke up at like 2pm feeling disoriented as hell. But spending all day inside just quietly working on finals stuff and not stressing too much about things was really nice. The end of the semester finally feels close enough to be reassuring.

Earlier I was reminiscing about my undergrad years a bit. I remembered one night coming home late from hanging out with friends and thinking about how it seemed like life had peaked and now I wasn't sure what to look forward to. It's funny to think about it now, knowing that time of my life was absolutely not the best in any kind of way, but past me didn't have the privilege of hindsight so I can't blame her for thinking that.

I guess I was feeling nostalgic because I grow more and more certain of wanting to move to Japan, and coming up with plans to do so brought up all these other memories of trying to figure out my life. Japan is most definitely not a utopia by any means, but when I remember my last trip and just how at ease I felt blending into the crowd and knowing how safe it was, I think it suits me more than the USA does.

I think it'll be an adjustment when I do move there. The work culture is rough, as are the strict societal rules, and beyond that trying to make new in-person friends will probably be hard too, along with a bunch of other things people don't usually like to bring up about Japan, but even taking all those things into account I still feel pretty strongly about it. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos about foreigners in Japan and what their thoughts were and the concerns they brought up weren't new to me. Also a lot of them didn't actually know any Japanese which was surprising to me. Most had been there for several years and still said they hardly knew the language, which makes me curious about how they've been getting by living there.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm getting coffee with some friends and working on more finals stuff, so hopefully I can get finished up soon. I'd like to be done before I leave Thursday for California.

Building Block Figs - Beautiful Fight Scene in the Middle of the Lake (Part 2)

Following up on yesterday's long post, today I am finally showing off the actual assembled pics of these figs!

You may have also noticed I have renamed these two posts, to be the actual (very long) MTL name from the original sales listing. I think of this scene as the "Bedema Lake" scene from the original fan fig that was sold with this name. A sharp eyed friend of mine told me today that the MTL for "Bedema Lake" is less likely to refer to an actual location, and more likely a clever reference to the Word of Honor Concert. 贝德玛, which Google renders as "Bedema" is Bèi dé mǎ, the Chinese transliteration for Bioderma, the French micellar water makeup remover (which is in my cabinet right at this moment, actually, it's great stuff!). One of the MCs during the concert made a joke about the lake scene being a "makeup remover lake" because it took off Zhou Zishu's mask. Here I was thinking all this time it was the actual name of the lake! I had to laugh. I have learned a lot writing this blog, let me tell you.

Anyway!

Now that the whole set was assembled, I played around with the different poses with the figs, from the original pose listed in the instructions sheet:

(note, the MTL here for the title is "Bamboo Raft Play in the Middle of the Lake" which is also very descriptive and 100% accurate).

Here's my finished rendition:

Oops, I see I should have scootched A-Xu one row forward. Well, that's ok, because I took him off to place him in a different pose, which is beautifully showed off in this gorgeous sales pic:

This is super nice. One day I aspire to have nice fig photos like this!

I actually like this pose a lot, I see why they picked it. It's not exactly accurate to the show, but it really shows them off to their best detail.

Last pose is this one, which is from Episode 6:

I like this one a lot - the original Bedema Lake fig was this exact pose. Here's my rendition:

I feel like there's not quite enough real estate on the raft for this pose, and unfortunately you don't get both cute faces at once like on pose number 2.

Well, let's go ahead and spin around the fig so you can get all angles here. I took pics mostly in pose number 2 for this, since that's the pose I'm going to end up keeping them in for the display.

Like always, the camera zooms in like a laser for any imperfections, which can't be seen with the naked eye (or at least my aging eyes). So I can definitely see where I didn't press down the blocks together tightly enough!

I love all the motion modeling on this - the flying hair and robes are great.

Yes, I think I'm definitely going to try to rework the raft in brown and black, and throw in more of the leftover transparent bricks.

Lao Wen is very easy to pose since he's balancing on his one foot. The bricks are really great to keeping the figs securely on the base - they certainly have that over the normal PVC/resin figs!

I think they did a spectacular job on the hair all the way around, including the hair ornaments. Lao Wen's hairpin and A-Xu's hairband were rendered very nicely. I will note that their hair was super fiddly to assemble - lots and lots of little tiny pieces, many just hanging on by one connection. The number of times I pressed down on the fig in areas to squeeze the bricks together, and a piece of hair go flying off ... well, it doesn't bear repeating! There was some colorful language also flying around, I will say.

When I re-do the raft I'm also going to cover up the yellowy-beige base with more blue bricks so it looks more like water and less like water on a beach.

Note the little fig ears. Those were actually pretty easy to make!

The hobo goatee just makes me laugh! Just amazing.

And we're back around. The way they did the robes in 3-D fig form is also really excellent - the pants don't quite show up like this in the actual show,as they are hidden by the robes most of the time, but the way they are showing the motion of the figures here is quite inspired.

Alright, we're switching back to the original configuration where they are facing each other for the rest of the pics:

You can really see more of the hair detail here. There's a bit of light streaming in from my window that makes A-Xu's hair look lighter than Lao Wen's, but they're the exact same bricks.

Kind of a three-quarters angle, here, so you can see more of A-Xu's guan.

A little bit of the bottom's up view - it's a bit hard with the base to see all the detail. I'll have to remember for the other sets to take pics of the figs off the base.

Here's a size comparison to a very typical sized "regular" fig:

I put him on the raft so you could get the best comparison for the fig height. So, larger than a regular fig, but not tremendously so.

My conclusions after assembling this first set:

One: This was indeed an excellent project to do when recovering from surgery. I could sit without moving very much, put my headphones in and listen to music, and use some but not all of my brain. With the rest of my mind not preoccupied with counting bricks or puzzling out directions, I could just let my mind process through any number of things, or reminisce as the hours went by. It was very peaceful (except for when pieces went flying or I realized I had set a brick down in the wrong place several steps prior!), and some nice quiet time to myself. Normally I'm doing a ton of things all at once (or trying to, anyway!) and hustle and bustling all around between work and travel and the household and the fandom, so this was indeed a nice break.

Two: It really was a ton of fun. A big chunk of the time when I was assembling the figs I had no idea what I was doing or what piece of the fig I was actually working on, so to see it slowly unfold under my fingers was pretty cool. It was surprisingly rewarding, and indeed just plain fun to see the moment when I was like, oh there you are! I particularly had fun with the little details of their costumes, like their belts or their necklines, and I really enjoyed putting the little wispies on Wen Kexing's hair and the bangs on A-Xu.

Three: For the limited color palette and the limited brick sizes, I think they rendered these figs beautifully, with a lot of attention to detail. I would definitely have liked to have had more show-specific colors, but that would have been beyond the scope (and budget) of a small shop. It continues to be a good lesson for me to work through - not to be so picky about the details, and to be less pedantic about accuracy. A great reminder that what is important is having fun and enjoying each creative interpretation of the show, not about the exact shade of say, Lao Wen's robes.

Four: I am in fact entirely charmed and delighted with these fig sets, and despite my sore and aching fingers from snapping together endless rows of bricks, I moved directly into the next set.

"Finished" PC Build

Backstory: Starting 2023 I was still running a cobbled together mess of a PC, the heart of which was a Dell Studio XPS desktop from 2010. Yes, THIRTEEN YEARS old. I got 2 of them from a gaming company in 2012 for the price of a tank of gas, thanks to knowing someone working there that had been tasked with E-wasting all the Windows PCs. Company was switching to iOS dev.

Anyway, at its heart was the Dell Mobo, which featured a 1st Gen i5-920. By this point, the OG GPU was long gone and I had "upgraded" with a 1050TI. 16gigs of DDR3 RAM. This basic as hell setup had served me admirably for a decade, for a couple reasons.

I run Linux.

I have never been a HEAVY PC GAMER. Sure, I have gamed on PC since I first got one in 2005 (yeah, kinda late to the game, considering I was almost 30, lol), but I mostly used my PC for World of Warcraft, other similar MMOs, and what are now called Indie games on Steam. I've had consoles from like 6yrs old, and I tend to prefer them as they are the cheap option for gaming. I appreciate what a modern PC can do (esp lately with RT etc) but like, more often than not PC gaming can be as much of a chore as it can be fun.

Now, starting around March 2023, that old PC began having strange errors with the RAM, which would cause Firefox to crash tabs/completely, among other things. Eventually it broke my Linux Mint OS badly enough it just stopped allowing me to login. Finally figured out the HDD I had was failing and got an SSD. Installed Garuda on it and pretty quickly realized I had Mobo issues as the RAM was still reporting less DIMMs than it had, half the time.

At this point, a friend that was aware of the issues offered to mail me an i5-6400, to build a "new" system around. Naturally I accepted and bought a Fractal Meshify 2, some new DDR4 RAM, DeepCool Gammax, and a used MSI Krait Gaming Mobo. Stuck the new parts in the new case, and moved over storage/GPU from old PC. Booted and updated the OS, then launched WoW. Still getting 10fps in Valdrakken. Shit. Guess I need to upgrade this GPU.

So I bought an RX 6800. Stuck it in the case and booted. Updated the OS, which brought the Mesa drivers on board. Launched WoW again. 10fps again. What the fuck. Thought maybe swapping from Nvidia to AMD might have left over some driver mess, so I fresh installed Garuda and got all set up. Logged WoW Main again. STILL 10fps. WTF. Took my Main to SW, stood in front of the bank, then logged an alt with NO UI. Holy shit, there's a 35fps difference between them. My UI was broken, lol. Spent a day fixing that. Now I get 20fps in Valdrakken, but 55ish everywhere else. This is good.. but... What if I upgraded the core to something current gen, say AM5?

Finally we arrive at the part the title of this post suggested, building the "new" PC. I went to Newegg and picked out a Ryzen 5 7600X, MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk WIFI Mobo, G.SKILL FlareX5 32g RAM kit, and a TFORCE 2TB M.2 SSD. I also got a "free" 1TB Sata SSD with the CPU, it was also a TFORCE. The following are the pics of the "build" process. There will also be an aside for a complication. ProTip: be real fucking sure everything you want to put into a PC is absolutely compatible. Some things say they are when they aren't. You'll see what I mean.

Here's the parts laid out and ready to be installed.

This Mobo has a ton of IO.

The iFixit "Pro Tech" toolkit. I got it on sale for I wanna say 80 bucks a few months ago, as of today it's listed for $75, and I think it's definitely worth the money.

Here we see the 3 M.2 slots. 2 of them have included heat sinks. Nice.

ProTip: Remember to peel the fucking plastic off these thermal pads, cause they don't really work with it on there.

Like a glove.

ProTip: it's real damn important to make sure you put the RAM in the proper dual channel config on an AMD system. On this motherboard there is a little diagram pointing out that the slots the sticks are in clearly say "first" on them, which is a nice touch. If you look closely, you can barely make out the very fuzzy diagram printed just above the heat sink bracket on the right hand side of the CPU.

Storage in place with the little "carder heat sink" strip in place. This SSD came with its own heat sink but I'm going to use the one that came with the board.

And here's the board, ready to go into the case for further assembly.. however, it was at this point that i realized that the EVGA 650w PSU I had didn't have two 8pin(4x4) CPU cables. I got it open box, no manuals etc, and could have sworn it had 2 cables but I was wrong. Makes sense, really, 650 watts would be cutting it too close with this build. Bummer.

Ok, well I can at least move over my DeepCool Gammax heat sink. I looked at the listing from when I bought it and it says "AM5 compatible". I watched a vid that said "hey as long as your cooler doesn't use a back plate, it should work with AM5"

LIES, BOTH OF THEM. I tried to get the DeepCool on there but the brackets didn't quite line up, and then even if I could kinda fudge it a little to make that work, the screws were threaded differently. Fuck. So at this point, in the middle of a somewhat heavy storm, I had to make a run to Best Buy and hope the store really did have the things the website said it did. Thankfully, it did (and I guess yay for living in a decent area or something? cause I've heard stories about BBs having like 3 PSUs from one brand, so "my" store having 19 from 6 brands is luxury, it seems. I miss Fry's). Picked up an EVGA GT 850w 80+ Gold with auto Eco Mode and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Halo, which was extremely lucky as it was the only one in the store.

That out of the way, the build can continue.

Coming along nicely. Sorry about the quality of some of these pics btw, I'm getting old so the eyes ain't what they were plus I had been dealing with this for several hours by now so I was also cranky and kinda rushing through the pics part. They looked good on the phone, less so once I moved them to the PC, heh.

That's looking clean as fuck. Yeah that old USB IO thing is old and kinda looks stupid but like, never can have enough ports, right?

I really do like this Fractal Meshify 2 case. It's laid out super well and is a breeze to build in. I mean just look at that cable routing, yo. And I was kinda rushing and not really being that finicky about it lol.

And it's home. Yeah, yeah, I know I need to clean up the cable situation on the left, there. I'll get to it. Also yes, there's some rust on that standing desk pole. I got it for free and it had been sitting outside. I've meant to clean that up but just haven't gotten to it, heh. Living in an RV as a not small dude (6ft1 240lbs or so) makes doing things like this just kinda suck, honestly. Add another person to the mix and yeah things can get tight. A 28ftx8ft box to live in just ain't the best time in the world, lol. We make do, though.

Finally, I figure I can give one nod to the RGB fans, so here you go. The Halo's fan in all its glory. I have since installed OpenRGB and managed, even on Linux, to gain access to the RGB controller and set the brightness to minimum.

I have run some benchmarks with Phoronix. I guess at least one person who might read this may be interested, especially Linux fans? So here's links to those:

Unigine Valley

Blender - this is an all tests, best of 3 run. Took a couple hours, which meant it was a great stress test for the CPU. I had no problems, which is impressive as the CPU sat at what I understand to be the throttle point temp of 95C. Yeah. I'm going to be looking into a better cooling solution or at least add another fan to the heat sink and see if that helps.

There's also 3 tests from when I was running the i5-6400 with the RX 6800.... if you wanna see what happens to a GPU when you severely bottleneck it, lol. If anyone actually reading this is interested you can just click "System Logs" on any of the links above, then "Show System Information" which will take you to a list of all benchmarks I've done so far.

Oh and by the way, I launched WoW again after I finished, despite it being late and I was sore and tired. But I just had to see. I am now unable to get less than 35-40fps in Valdrakken, and I'm averaging nearly 100 anywhere else. I actually saw 130fps a few times. I'm not sure I've ever seen that high a number even when I flew as high as is allowed and looked straight up, lol.

In other words: yes, it was worth it. Especially if I can manage to baby this thing well enough it lasts me at least a few years before I "have" to think about upgrading it. Again.
