Kristi trained as an engineer until she discovered her powers of necromancy.  (She comes form a long line of necromancers so it was inevitable).  While she was learning to control her powers, she managed to absorb abilities of those around her.  She can replace her normal Death Shroud with a Flame Shroud or an Invisibility Shroud.
Tumblr media
Sophia is Kristi’s niece and also a necromancer.  She was raised as a guardian because her mother (Kristi’s sister) does not like necromancy magic at all.  Because of this, and her Seraph training, she fights with a mace and a shield most of the time, despite being a very powerful necromancy, thanks to her Aunty’s Training.
Time for another curious question!
I know ingame it's not a possible thing, but has your character(s) gone through profession changes as their story/lore progresses? Does your character(s) have some aspect of another profession in their old/new core profession?
(For example, I have this Deadeye ingame, but his story has him start off as a Ranger with two loyal pets, and he swapped to being a Deadeye midway his story/lore while still retaining his pets)
Or does your character(s) remain in the same profession throughout their entire story?
Or perhaps, you have created a completely new type of non-canon profession for your character(s)'s story/lore?
Feel free to tell me all about it!

I know DnD is not about realism but how accurate is having, say, your heavy armor wearing paladin have 10 dex or even negative dex? Where medieval knights built like The Rock or like The mountain? I’ve seen youtubers saying that you needed a lot of strength to be able to fight like a knight so women and smaller people couldn’t do it.
I think I know which YouTuber you're talking about, and you can pretty safely ignore them. Their personal misogyny takes priority over their (alleged) expertise when they're forming their arguments.
There's two logistical problems with the idea that you need someone like Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson to make up the bulk of your elite forces. The first problem is that they need to consume a frightening amount of food. This isn't as much of a problem in the modern era, when we have the capacity for truly staggering amounts of agricultural production. But, in a medieval society, with serfs responsible for most of the agriculture, the prospect of feeding each of your elite troops 10,000 calories a day would economically destroy most kingdoms. (And, yes, that is what Björnsson reports to consume on a daily basis. Other estimates place his dietary intake somewhere between 3600 and 8000.) And, to be clear, that is an absolutely absurd amount of food. But, if you want to build that kind of mass, you need a lot of energy, which means, a lot of food.
The second logistical problem is, there's only one of him. Okay, that's not literally true, The Mountain was portrayed by three separate actors, Conan Stevens, a professional wrestler, and Ian Whyte, a stunt actor who had previous appeared as a White Walker in the first season. But, Hafthor Bjornsson took over the role in the fourth season, and is probably who you're thinking of when you name drop the character.
Bjornsson is a member of the 2000 pound club, which include power lifters who can lift over 2000lbs combined between bench press, dead lift, and squats. Not many people ever get that far, and Bjornsson is one of the few individuals who can get into the 1000 pound club from a single lift.
Here's a fun name to know, Becca Swanson is also in the 2000 pound club. She credibly claims that she is the first woman to have achieved that, and I'm not sure if there are any other women in the 2000lb club, but it is achievable.
Now, here's the fun thing about all of this, because you're asking about D&D, and D&D players need to know exactly how much their character can lift. The calculation is (STR*30)lbs. (In the Player's handbook p174.) This also means if you have a real person, and you know how much they can lift in the real world, you can reverse engineer what their strength score would be in D&D.
It's 37.
If you wanted to convert Hafthor Bjornsson into D&D, his strength score would be 37.
Dude can fucking arm wrestle the Terrasque and easily win.
Putting that in perspective, it's a little ludicrous to say that if you want a viable martial character (fighters, paladins, barbarians, etc.), they need a Strength score of 37, when it's not normally possible for player characters to exceed 20 base strength. (If you're wondering, Becca would work out to have ~29 Strength. So, on par with most ancient dragons, and a few gods.)
So, there you have a man and woman who are both superhumanly strong according to D&D.
D&D and math have always had issues like this, and it pops up in a few different places here.
The basic concept that your ability to hit, and the amount of damage you deal is based on strength comes from a very, “schoolyard,” understanding of violence. It's okay to step back and abstract it out, where “strength,” is some amalgam of melee combat aptitude in addition to actual strength, but the idea that being stronger means you can hit harder with a sword or dagger doesn't make a lot of sense. It doesn't even make much sense with axes and maces (the force applied has more to do with the mass and velocity of the weapon, rather than the strength of its wielder.)
A paladin with negative DEX is dead. I don't mean that figuratively, and I do understand what you meant to say, but this rule is a little obscure in 5e. If any of a character's physical attributes (STR, DEX, CON) are reduced to zero, the character immediately dies. Ability draining effects used to be far more common, so the rule existed by itself, though, now it mostly shows up when you're looking at a monster with a physical ability draining attack.
What you probably meant was a negative DEX modifier, meaning your paladin is unusually clumsy. Outside the context of D&D, that would be an incredibly bad thing for a front line combatant. In the specific context of D&D, if they're in heavy armor, it doesn't really matter, if they're in medium, then it reverts to being “a bad thing. Specifically, the rules is that light and medium armor add your DEX modifier to your armor class. Medium armor caps this at +2, but it can go negative with either armor type. However, heavy armor in 5e ignores your DEX modifier entirely.
Now, here's the thing about D&D, its concept of armor is spectacularly weird. Unlike RPGs where armor reduces damage taken, either by subtracting a fixed amount from incoming damage or by reducing damage via a percentage, D&D's system is that your armor class grants you a chance to avoid being hit at all. (5% chance per point of AC, if you're wondering.) Narratively, this is often framed as taking a hit, but your armor turned the blade or something similar. This is because sometimes the enemy attack straight up misses, and that's (usually) determined by your dexterity. This is important, because the game is trying to balance two different power fantasies against each other.
On one side you have the players who want to roll in heavy plate armor, and soak all the hits, and on the other you have players who want to go with light armor, and dodge around enemy attacks. Realistically, that's not an option, but D&D permits it, and again, that's fine. The fantasy of lightly armored fighters makes a lot of sense. I'd even go so far as to say that the barbarian's unarmed defense bonus (where they add CON modifier to their DEX modifier while unarmored) is a really good change in 5e even if it does make no sense objectively. It contributes to the fantasy of this brutal fighter who runs around without armor slapping people silly with their weapons, and shrugging off damage because they're too stubborn to die. In (nearly all cases) the ability to deliver the player fantasy of a class is more important than a strict adherence to reality, and that's fine, that's the point, but the realism of D&D doesn't translate off the page in any meaningful way.
If you wanted a more, “realistic,” (and, yeah, that's incredibly loaded in this context), approach to armor for D&D, I'd say gate access based on your Constitution (or Constitution modifier). Sort of like how your equip load in Dark Souls is based on your Endurance attribute. Give armor and weapons a burden value, and if the combined burden on a character exceeds their CON, the character risks taking levels of Fatigue when they're fighting in heavier gear than they're conditioned to deal with. Maybe add a Conditioning feat or skill if you want to add some other attribute modifiers to the mix should you end up with your heavy armor fighters being underequipped. (Then again, I am one of those psychopaths who really liked the D20 Star Wars' vitality system.) So, ultimately, tinker with the balance until you find something you, and the people at your table, are happy with. Roleplayers who have more meaningful build choices tend to be happier, so long as they don't feel like they're being punished for having a character fantasy.
One of the more amusing descriptions I've read of medieval knights is that they were built like methheads. I can't fully vouch for that, because I'm not an expert on the physical appearance of medieval knights, but it's certainly credible. These guys were eating pretty well for the era, and engaged in a lot of physical activity. Depending on what they were doing, that could easily result in some fairly bulky guys, but it could also result in some wiry looking guys who hide their muscles. Just, knowing what I do about the human body, the answer was probably both, depending on their metabolism and diet. But the image of Sir Methhead, Knight of the Realm, and his implausibly clean teeth, still amuses me.
It's worth remembering that a lot of the times I've seen someone say, “they were built like athletes,” they'll drop an image of a bodybuilder. No. That's not what you would get. Bodybuilding is designed to create its own physique, one that doesn't occur unless you're abusing your body in some very specific (and unhealthy) ways. It's probably better to think of someone like a high-school football player. Bulky, but without the carved physiques of a Boris Vallejo painting. (If you don't know who that is, look up his art. It is a bit dated, but it's gorgeous.)
Alternately, if you do want your characters to look like those paintings, it is your fantasy, have fun.

The Forgotten Mongol Heavy Cavalry,
When it comes to legends of the vicious Mongol conquests horse archers seem to be the celebrity rock stars of the Mongol Army who get all the fame and admiration. Depictions of Mongol battles in modern times usually show wild barbarian Mongol horse archers riding circles around enemy formations while showering them with volley after volley of arrows. Missing are the less glorified Mongol heavy cavalry, an absence which I’m sure would make the Great Khan sad because the Mongols had fine heavy cavalry. Not to put down horse archers, but horse archers alone don’t always win battles. While horse archers have their advantages, they also have several weakness and limitations, especially against opposing heavy infantry and cavalry equipped with shields and armor while in a defensive battle formation. What made the Mongols effective was not the mere fact they had horse archers, but because they had better tactics, among them combined arms tactics where they were able to coordinate the abilities of different units to accomplish a goal on the battlefield. This isn’t just a principle of Mongol warfare, but a principle of warfare in general. Whether we're talking ancient times or modern warfare, the side that has better combined arms tactics typically wins.
The early Mongol Army consisted of 60% horse archers and 40% heavy cavalry. Later the Mongols would adopt new units such as heavy infantry, light infantry, siege units, and artillery conscripted from the peoples they conquered. However for this post I’m only referring to the early Mongol Army commanded by Genghis Khan and his general Subutai.  The purpose of the horse archers were as skirmishing units; to harass, sow chaos and confusion, and weaken the discipline of enemy ranks. The purpose of the heavy cavalry was to directly engage enemy units in close combat. To do their job, Mongol heavy cavalry were heavily armed and armored, much more so than their horse archer counterparts. They were armored head to toe in lamellar armor composed of metal plates sewn together into a suit. Often this armor also covered the horse as well.
Tumblr media
Their primary arm was a lance used to conduct charges. For melee fighting they would carry swords or axes, and also maces for armored opponents. They would also probably carry a shield. Along with their horse archer counterparts, Mongol heavy cavalry also carried a bow in order to engage the enemy at a distance. In essence Mongol heavy cavalry were similar to Middle Eastern or Byzantine cataphracts and European mounted knights.
On the battlefield, Mongol units typically fought in five ranks, the first three ranks composed of horse archers, the last two composed of heavy cavalry.  During a Mongol charge, the horse archers would close to around 50 - 100 yards and fire arrows while the heavy cavalry would protect them from counterattack by enemy cavalry. It should be noted that Mongol heavy cavalry were also armed with bows, so likewise would be firing on the enemy as well. After firing, the formation would turn around, resupply with arrows, and remount with fresh horses. They would then repeat the charge again and again until eventually the enemy would weaken, begin to panic, lose discipline, and perhaps break ranks.  At that point the heavy cavalry would swoop in and smash the enemy formation. The Mongols also used deceptive tactics which the heavy cavalry would be an essential part. One common tactic was the feigned retreat, where a Mongol unit would pretend to retreat in panic as if defeated. The enemy would in turn charge expecting to chase down and massacre a terrified enemy. To their horror, the Mongols would reform and counterattack, the heavy cavalry at the front to smash the disorganized enemy and the horse archers firing from the rear. Another tactic would be to use the horse archers to draw the enemy into an ambush, where the heavy cavalry would appear from a hidden position and conduct a surprise attack on the enemy flanks or rear.

MC's arsenal: A Glimpse into The World of weapons
Tumblr media
Hello again! For today's inspiration post there's something fun!
In the beginning, our MC wasn't a fighter or a warrior. At most, they were proficient with swords, bows, or had some brawling skills when Book 1 started. However, their journey wasn't just a casual stroll through a fantasy world. As the events unfolded, they faced life-and-death situations that transformed them.
Though the process of acquiring new skills wasn't explicitly shown, MC undoubtedly involved the learning process of those skills. Book 1 gave them the basic combat skills commonly found in fantasy stories – swords, bows, and brawling. However, Book 2 introduced a variety of unconventional weapons, expanding their arsenal.
The race is also important when giving MC a certain skill on a weapon, we know this can change the strength and weaknesses they have, for example:
We have the bigs strong orcs who tent to rely more on theirr strength and are tored resistant, what make them excellent hand-to-hand fighters, but also capable of handling heavy weapons as war hammers, large axes, maces, and big shields.
We also have human MC who are characterized for their agility and resourcefulness, making them excellent for wielding a combination of two weapons at the same time, as could be short sword and daggers, or the staff which provides a versatile amount of usages. But pretty much the could be good with any weapon.
Of course, you don't have to limit yourself because of the race. Would you like your elf MC to be a brawler? Go ahead and do it, the choice is your! You can as well mix and match your favorite weapons from both books.
At last, we have the elves, who possess heightened senses and a stronger affinity with magic, what makes them good long distance fighter, therefore bows would put those sense to good use.
Let your creativity flow, and feel free to introduce entirely new, unseen weapons into the MC's arsenal.
Don't forget the Redesign Challenge will be happening from Nov 27th - Dec 3rd.

Joining the Companions
Now before I set off the join the companions I decided to set up the farm with crops. This obviously went along without a hitch and with the first harvest collected and combined into potions managed to level up our character twice. Once the farm was set up i set off to Whiterun. Before entering Jorrvaskr I sold some of the potions created and made a animal pack for Sweet Roll. Unfortunately I didn't realise that she can't equip an animal pack so I'm sorry that the poll regarding her will be unable to be fulfilled. After that discovery I quickly made my way to Jorrvaskr and talked to Kodlak to start the quest Take Up Arms. While he talked to Vilkas about my joining I managed to lock-pick two of the weapon displays and take the dwarven greatsword and elven warhammer. Once they finished talking Kodlak asked me about my battle skills to which I replied that I can handle myself. From there the quest went as normal. I sparred with Vilkas and took his sword up to Eorland, then returned Aela's shield to her before being taken by Farkas to my new quarters thus ending the quest Take Up Arms and joining the companions.

Cleric Explanation
Arms and eyes upraised toward the sun and a prayer on his lips an elf begins to glow with an inner light that spills out to heal his battle-worn companions. Chanting a song of glory, a dwarf swing his axe in wide swaths to cut through the ranks of orcs arrayed against him shouting praise to the gods with every foe's fall. Calling down a curse upon the forces of undeath a human lifts her holy symbol as light pours from it to drive back the zombies crowding in on her companions. Clerics are intermediaries between the mortal world and the distant planes of the gods. As varied as the gods they serve, clerics strive to embody the handiwork of their deities. No ordinary priest a cleric is imbued with divine magic.
Divine magic as the name suggests is the power of the gods, flowing from them into the world. Clerics are conduits for that power manifesting it as miraculous effect. The gods don't grant this power to everyone who seeks it but only to those chosen to fulfill a high calling. Harnessing divine magic doesn't rely on study or training. A cleric might learn formulaic prayers and ancient rites but the ability to cast cleric spells relies on devotion and an intuitive sense of a deity's wishes. Clerics combine the helpful magic of healing and inspiring their allies with spells that harm and hinder foes. They can provoke awe and dread lay curses or plague or poison, and even call down flames from heaven to consume their enemies. For those evildoers who will benefit from a mace to the head clerics depend on their combat training to let them wade into melee with the power of the gods on their side.
Not every acolyte or officiant at a temple or shrine is a cleric. Some priests are called to a simple life of temple service carrying out thirs gods will through prayer and sacrifice not by magic and strength of arms. In some cities priesthood amounts to a political office viewed as a stepping stone to higher positions of authority and involving no communion with a god at all. True clerics are rare in most hierarchies. When a cleric takes up an adventuring life it is usually because his or her god demands it. Pursuing the goals of the gods often involves braving dangers beyond the walls of civilization, smiting evil or seeking holy relics in ancient tombs. Many clerics are also expected to protect their deities worshipers which can mean fighting rampaging orcs, negotiating peace between warring nations, or sealing a portal that would allow a demon prince to enter the world (Cough Cough Demogorgan Cough Cough). Most adventuring clerics maintain some connection to established temples and orders of their faiths. A temple might ask for a cleric's aid or a high priest might be in a position to demand it.
Divine Domains: In a pantheon every deity has influence over different aspects of mortal life and civilization called a deity's domain. All the domains over which a deity has influence are called the deity's portfolio. For example the portfolio of Apollo includes the domains of Knowledge Life and Light. As a cleric you choose 1 aspect of your deity's portfolio to emphasize and you are granted powers related to that domain. Your choice might correspond to a particular sect dedicated to your deity. Apollo for example could be worshiped in 1 region as Phoebus (Radiant) Apollo emphasizing his association with the Life domain. Alternatively your choice of domain could simply be a matter of personal preference the aspect of the deity that appeals to you most. Each domain's description gives examples of deities who have influence over that domain. Gods are included from the worlds of Forgotten Realms (Toril) Greyhawk, Drangonlance (Krynn) and Eberron campaign setting, as well as from the Celtic Greek, Norse, and Egyptian pantheons of Antiquity.
Knowledge Domain: The gods of knowledge value learning and understanding above all. Some teach that knowledge is to be gathered and shared in libraries and universities, or promote the practical knowledge of craft and invention. Some deities hoard knowledge and keep its secrets to themselves. And some promise their followers that they will gain tremendous power if they unlock the secrets of the multiverse. Followers of these gods study esoteric lore, collect old tomes, delve into the secret places of the earth and learn all they can. Some gods of knowledge promote the practical knowledge of craft and invention.
Life Domain: The Life domain focuses on the vibrant positive energy (one of the fundamental forces of the universe) that sustains all life. The gods of life promote vitality and health through healing the sick and wounded caring for those in need and driving away the forces of death and undeath. Almost any non-evil deity can claim influence over this domain particularly agricultural deities, sun gods, gods of healing or endurance, and gods of home and community.
Light Domain: Gods of light promote the ideals of rebirth and renewal, truth, vigilance and beauty often using the symbol of the sun. Some of these gods are portrayed as the sun itself or as a charioteer who guides the sun across the sky. NOthers are tireless sentinels whose eyes pierce every shadow and see through every deception. Some are deities of beauty and artistry, who teach that art is a vehicle for the soul's improvement. Clerics of a god of light are enlightened souls infused with radiance and the power of their gods discerning vision, charged with chasing away lies and burning away darkness.
Nature Domain: Gods of nature are as varied as the natural world itself, from inscrutable gods of the deep forests to friendly deities associated with particular springs and groves. Druids revere nature as a whole and might serve 1 of these deities practicing mysterious rites and reciting all-but-forgotten prayers in their own secret tongue But many of these gods have clerics as well, champions who take a more active role in advancing the interests of a particular nature god. These clerics might hunt the evil monstrosities that despoil the woodlands, bless the harvest of the faithful, or wither the crops of those who anger their gods.
Tempest Domain: Gods whose portfolios include the Tempest domain govern storms sea and sky. They include gods of lightning and thunder, gods of earthquakes, some fire gods, and certain gods of violence, physical strength, and courage. In some pantheons, a god of this domain rules over other deities and is known for swift justice delivered by thunderbolts. In the pantheons of seafaring people, gods of this domain are ocean deities and the patrons of sailors. Tempest gods send their clerics to inspire fear in the common folk either to keep those folk on the path of righteousness or to encourage them to offer sacrifices of propitiation to ward off divine wrath.
Trickery Domain: Gods of trickery are mischief-makers and instigators who stand as a constant challenge to the accepted order among both gods and mortals. They're patrons of thieves, scoundrels, gamblers, rebels, and liberators. Their clerics are a disruptive force in the world, puncturing pride, mocking tyrants, stealing from the rich, freeing captives, and flouting hollow traditions. They prefer subterfuge, pranks, deception and theft rather than direct confrontation.
War Domain: War has many manifestations. It can make heroes of ordinary people. It can desperate and horrific with acts of cruelty and cowardice eclipsing instances of excellence and courage. In either case, the gods of war watch over warriors and reward them for their great deeds. The clerics of such gods excel in battle, inspiring others to fight the good fight or offering acts of violence as prayers. Gods of war include champions of honor and chivalry as well as gods of destruction and pillage and gods of conquest and domination. Other war gods take a more neutral stance, promoting war in all its manifestation and supporting warriors in any circumstance.

Diablo 4's Unique Item System: A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
Diablo 4, the upcoming grim and dark isometric action RPG from Blizzard Entertainment, is one of the most anticipated games of 2021. One of the key features of Diablo 4 is its unique item system, which offers players a wide variety of powerful and customizable gear to acquire, upgrade, and trade. In this article, we'll take a closer look at Diablo 4 items, from their types and rarity to their abilities and synergies. Whether you're a veteran Diablo player or a newcomer to the series, this guide will help you understand the intricacies of Diablo 4's item system and how to make the most of it.
Types of Diablo 4 Items
Like its predecessors, Diablo 4 features six types of items: weapons, armor, accessories, potions, gems, and runes. Each type has its own unique properties and uses, and can be further divided into subtypes based on their rarity and quality. Weapons, for example, can be swords, axes, maces, bows, and more, and can be common, magic, rare, or legendary. Similarly, armor can be helmets, chestplates, gloves, boots, and more, and can be of different quality tiers. Accessories, such as rings and amulets, can provide additional stats and bonuses to the player. Potions, gems, and runes offer temporary or permanent boosts to the player's health, damage, speed, and other attributes. Understanding the variety and uses of each item type is essential to building a strong character and defeating the game's many challenges.
Rarity and Quality of Diablo 4 Items
One of the key aspects of Diablo 4's item system is its emphasis on rarity and quality. Unlike many other ARPGs, Diablo 4 doesn't rely on procedural generation to create its items; instead, each item is handcrafted by the developers and can have unique stats and abilities. Items can be of common, magic, rare, legendary, or unique quality, with each tier offering more powerful and specialized attributes. Legendary items, for instance, can have multiple affixes and synergize with other items to create devastating combos. Unique items, on the other hand, are named and have fixed properties that can't be altered. Knowing how to identify and acquire high-quality items is crucial to progressing in Diablo 4 and facing its endgame challenges.
Abilities and Synergies of Diablo 4 Items
Another aspect of Diablo 4's item system is its focus on abilities and synergies. Each item can have one or more affixes, which are special effects that modify the player's attributes or skills. Affixes can be offensive, defensive, or utility-based, and can be combined with other affixes to create powerful builds. For example, a player could equip a weapon with a fire-damage affix, a helmet with a bonus to critical hits, a ring with a boost to attack speed, and a potion that grants temporary invincibility. Additionally, certain items can have unique synergies with other items or skills, creating even more potent effects. Examples of item synergies include a weapon that increases the damage of a specific skill, or a set of armor that grants a bonus when worn together. Experimenting with different item combinations and builds is one of the most satisfying aspects of Diablo 4's item system.
Trade and Economy of Diablo 4 Items
Finally, Diablo 4's item system has a robust trade and economy aspect. Players can buy and sell items with each other, or trade them for other goods or services. Some items, especially those of high rarity and quality, can fetch a high price on the in-game marketplace, allowing players to accumulate wealth and invest in their characters. In addition, Diablo 4 features a crafting and upgrading system, which allows players to enhance their items by using rare materials and gems. Knowing how and when to trade, craft, and upgrade items can be a lucrative and rewarding activity in Diablo 4's item system.
Conclusion
Diablo 4's item system is one of the most complex and engaging in the ARPG genre. Its emphasis on rarity, quality, abilities, and synergies ensures that every item has a unique value and use. Whether you're a casual or hardcore player, Diablo 4's item system offers endless possibilities for customization, experimentation, and mastery. By understanding the types, rarity, abilities, and economy of diablo 4 items, you can become a true legend of Sanctuary.

Omori Martial Artist’s AU
An AU where the Omori Characters are Martial Arts Practitioners.
Featuring a small summary on the style they use.
Sunny/Omori: Bak Mei
Info: White Eyebrow Kung fu (Bak Mei) is a close quarter method of Chinese boxing. Known for its explosive power and effective techniques, It is one of the treasured kung fu systems of Southern China. Open hand whipping strikes for Bak Mei consist of hammer fists, finger jabs, palm strikes and elbow strikes. Kicks are mostly to the waist or below, and often target the knees, groin or shin, though striking with the hands is preferred over kicking. Bak Mei practitioners seldom use the regular fist, preferring to use the leopard fist or the phoenix- eye fist to concentrate power in a small area to the body’s most vulnerable points such as the throat, temple or eyes.
Mari: Capoeira
Info: Capoeira is a fast and versatile martial art that combines elements of martial arts, dance, acrobatics, music and spirituality. It is historically focused on fighting outnumbered or in technological disadvantage. The style emphasizes using the lower body to kick, sweep and take down their aggressors, using the upper body to assist those movements and occasionally attack as well. It features a series of complex positions and body postures that are meant to get chained in an uninterrupted flow, to strike, dodge and move without breaking motion, conferring the style with a characteristic unpredictability and versatility.
Kel: Taekwondo
Info: Taekwondo is a Korean form of martial arts characterized by punching and kicking techniques, with emphasis on head-height kicks, spinning jump kicks, and fast kicking techniques. The literal translation for tae kwon do is "kicking", "punching", and "the art or way of". They are a kind of martial arts in which one attacks or defends with hands and feet anytime or anywhere, with occasional use of weapons. The physical training undertaken in Taekwondo is purposeful and fosters strength of mind through mental armament.
Hero: Jeet Kune Do
Info: A hybrid martial arts system and life philosophy founded by martial artist Bruce Lee with direct, non classical and straightforward movements. Due to the way his style works they believe in minimal movement with maximum effect and extreme speed. The system works on the use of different 'tools' for different situations. These situations are broken down into ranges (Kicking, Punching, Trapping and Grappling), with techniques flowing smoothly between them. It is referred to as a "style without style". Unlike more traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned, and is a philosophy with guiding thoughts. It was named for the concept of interception, or attacking your opponent while he is about to attack.
Aubrey: Muay Thai
Info: Muay Thai, sometimes referred to as Thai boxing, is a combat sport that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs", as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins. The style uses the human body to mimic the weapons and combat of centuries gone by. The fist takes the place of the sword and daggers, and the elbow emulates the crushing mace. The feet and knees take the place of the ax and staff. The shins and forearms are specially trained and hardened to play the role of armor and shield and are used to block blows. In practice, the style uses a combination of punches, elbow strikes, kicks and knee strikes, to create one of the most exhilarating and bloody combat styles today.
Basil: Drunken Boxing
Info: Also known as Drunken Fist, is a general name for all styles of Chinese martial arts that imitate the movements of a drunk person. Despite its name, the style does not require its user to consume alcohol. Many aspects of drunken boxing are specialized towards deception: continuous bobbing and weaving and slipping, feigning instability and lack of focus, attacking from unusual angles and seemingly weak positions, sudden changes of momentum, compounding multiple attacks with the same limb, use of blind-spots and visual distractions, changing game plans in mid-fight and employing concealed or improvised weapons. Like many styles of kung fu, drunken boxing employs a wide variety of attacks, including striking, chin na and wrestling, with trapping range fighting as a default skill.
Mincy: Wing Chun
Info: Wing Chun is a unique and effective martial art from Southern China that specializes in close range combat. It is the only martial art created and made famous by a woman. About 300 years ago, Ng Mui, the Shaolin nun who developed the system, realized that most of the techniques in Shaolin Kung Fu were ineffective for a small woman to use against a larger, stronger man. She also realized that a woman could not match a man's stamina in a long fight. With this in mind, Ng Mui developed a self-defense system that enabled a smaller, weaker person such as herself to defeat a bigger, stronger person. The system is focused around the centerlines, diagonal lines and angles. The theory behind the basic elements includes: balance, timing, control and simultaneity in defense and attacks. Wing Chun favors a relatively high, narrow stance with the elbows close to the body. Within the stance, arms are generally positioned across the vital points of the centerline with hands in a vertical "wu sau" ("protecting hand" position). This puts the practitioner in a position to make readily placed blocks and fast-moving blows to vital striking points down the center of the body, i.e. the neck, chest, belly and groin. Shifting or turning within a stance is done on the heels or middle (K1 or Kidney point 1) of the foot, depending on the lineage. Some Wing Chun styles discourage the use of high kicks because this risks counter-attacks to the groin. The practice of "settling" one's opponent to brace them more effectively against the ground helps one deliver as much force as possible.
Cris: Baguazhang
Info: This martial art is considered to be the most circular and spiraling system of chinese martial arts (kungfu). Its defining characteristic is constant movement and change, and the ability to fight while being on the move. Where most martial arts engage with an opponent in a head-on fixed position, a bagua fighter can attack or defend while walking and changing direction constantly. The outstanding feature of baguazhang practice is circle walking. Bagua practitioners will walk in circles during their practice and hold static postures while walking, and practice various martial techniques (palm changes) when changing direction on the circle. Baguazhang has developed into a very complex martial system including a full array of kicks, strikes, throws, grappling and the use of many weapons.
Daphne/Bowen: Kickboxing
Info: Kickboxing is a form of martial arts derived from karate. Although the name implies kicking as a priority, this type of martial art uses both hands and feet as points of contact. Kicks and punches are both used during kickboxing. Kickboxing involves lots of rapid movement and can easily increase one's heart rate to a similar pace as running. The range of techniques depends on the individual type of kickboxing style. Other than standard punching techniques similar to western boxing, kickboxing techniques typically include kicks and knee strikes. Some kickboxing styles involve elbow strikes, some grappling and even headbutts. Kickboxing is a popular professional sport, similar to MMA or boxing. Many cities have martial arts studios that offer specialized classes in kickboxing. However, with its high energy vibe kickboxing is quite popular with the general public as well.

So let me tell you a little about Presumption's Girls.
Basic plot, there's a village of various magical creatures, some elves, some fairies, some catgirls, dwarves, what have you. There's one elf in particular, who is a hot adolescent (read: 50 year old) elf named Presumption, which is not the most bonkers name in the story. I'm pretty sure one of the catgirl's name was pretty much a keysmash. There was at least one elf and two catgirls, I don't 100% remember the rest of the questing party. There's a group of other adolescent magical creatures, all friends and all girls, wherein about three out of six of the three really fancy him. So, when he get kidnapped, the girls decide they have to mount an epic quest to rescue him, and the friends who aren't crushing on this guy decide to go along with them to protect them.
The story then follows the basic beats of an 80s fantasy quest movie, think Krull, with the girls travelling to the big scary castle where they assume Presumption's been taken. There's a couple of scenes I never actually got around to writing wherein they defeat various troubles along the way, fighting monsters, almost getting seduced by other dudes but continuing their quest. The elf and the catgirl who both fancy Presumption agree that if they save him, they will let him choose between them and respect his decision no matter who he chooses. There's a second catgirl who is mute, but a powerful telepath because I guess a fourteen-year-old can't write a disabled person without magic powers that make the disability not really relevant. She is the voice of reason in the group, and tries to convince the girls to at least recruit someone's parents into the group. This is ignored, and they leave that night.
There's a badass evil lady dwarf who works for the evil vampire queen who kidnapped Presumption. She guards the prisoner for most of the time and comes to the conclusion he's a pretty cool guy, and promises that whatever happens, she won't let her boss outright kill him. She can't stop the beatings, however. The main thing I remember about her is that she had a magical weapon, which just looked like a medium-length stick when she wore it on her belt. When she taps on one end, an axe head comes out of the other end. When she taps on the other end, a mace end comes out of the opposite end. Probably the coolest part of this entire story, aside from the general, "gender-swapped rescue the princess story" theme of the story.
Anyway, the girls get to the castle, and the vampire lady sends the badass dwarf lady to fight all of these girls at once, which she's comfortable doing because she's a minor warlord and they're a bunch of teenagers from nowhere. The fight gets more intense than the dwarf expected, and in a moment of desperation, she hits both ends of her stick at once, thus rendering it impossible to ever turn either end off but making for one last really cool fight sequence before she is defeated.
They reach the top of the tower, where evil vampire lady is holding Presumption in a no-gravity helpless pose, very 90s anime. A second epic battle ensues, and with the combined power of magic and cool fighting, the vampire lady is defeated and falls off the tower.
Presumption is freed and discovers a fairly large group of excited teenage girls from his hometown, having just rescued him. In a surge of gratitude and having missed his friends, Presumption calls out in delight, rushes forward, embraces several of them, before in overjoyed tears confesses that he had always secretly loved... the mute catgirl who was not interested in him.
She recoils in horror at the idea of being even remotely involved in this love polygon, and manages to exclaim, "...no!" before throwing herself off the tower to her death.
The whole quest party decides that they should make their way back to the village separately, except for the remaining catgirl, who decides she's never going home and will wander the countryside questing forever. Partially because there's a weird... stereotype? Assumption? That catgirls will eventually join the adult entertainment industry and she's sex-replused.
Yeah. Having typed all that out, I think the salvageable parts are the cool weapon and the idea of an all-female questing party rescuing a boy damsel.
Do you ever remember a story you wrote in middle school and think, "Now, obviously there's some parts of this story that are best left in the past, but there were also some really cool ideas that might be stripped out of it and thrown on the reuse pile."

Twisted Wonderland Characters as Shapeshifter Weapons
Tumblr media
Riddle Rosehearts: An actual Chainsaw. Since he can’t turn into a Guillotine to off some heads he chose the closest to that. He’s also loud just like when he yells Off With Your Head!
Ace Trappola: Bat. Classic, looks like he’s the typical weapon for a gang fight, but he makes sure to knock everyone out who tries to make fun of him.
Deuce Spade: Brass knuckles. Just like Pocket (from Boyfriend Dungeon). Good for close combat and to beat up bullies ♡
Trey Clover: Shotgun. He doesn’t like to make a scene, but once he gets angry, he makes sure to destroy everyone in close distance.
Cater Diamond: Throwing knives. Just like how he can multiply himself, he can turn into many knives. You must remember which one is the original and make sure, not to damage it.
Leona Kingscholar: Tribal spear. He makes sure to not let anyone too close to you, but continuously reminds you to keep your distance from your opponent.
Ruggie Bucchi: Mace. It might look funny how his slender body turns into the massive crushing weapon but he make’s sure you’re opponent won't wake up to see him stealing his wallet.
Jack Howl: Giant Warhammer. He ain’t joking around when a fight is about to take place and you need protection. He does feel bad for all the lifting you need to do to wield him, though.
Azul Ashengrotto: Rapier. An elegant looking but perfect weapon if used well. Just like Isaac (from Boyfriend Dungeon), who is also a businessman, they share similarities but are different weapons hence their different approach to business.
Jade and Floyd Leech: Twin daggers. They like to work together, so they appreciate it if you take them to work with each other against your opponent. But you have to co-ordinate your movements well, because if you’re not in sync with them, they might just leave you in the middle of the fight.
Kamil Al-Asim: SwissMiniGun. It’s so small you think it can’t even hurt you. It can still blind you like the actual sunshine Kalim is~
Jamil Viper: Short scimitar. Not too big, easy to hide and good for backstabbing. Sorry Jamil…
Vil Schoenheit: Whip. Just to assert dominance and punish you if you’re not pretty and elegant enough.
Rook Hunt: Traditional longbow. I mean, he already uses one, he should be able to turn into one.
Epel Felmier: Shield. He’s actually trying to protect you so you’ll see how strong he really is with his high endurance.
Idia Shroud: An electrified scythe. He’s like a combination between Seven and Rowan (from Boyfriend Dungeon). He definitely gave himself the electrifying update.
Ortho Shroud: Taser. Small, cute, but deadly since he ain’t just put your opponent to sleep. Thank Idia for that extra perk~
Malleus Draconia: Pilgrim staff. He makes sure to charge himself with magic that is easily demolishing your opponent. He makes sure nobody has a chance to even touch you.
Lilia Vanrouge: Expandable baton. He's smart enough to not look to intimidating until it’s time to show of how deadly he is.
Silver: Knightly arming sword from the medieval period, obviously. You need good physique to be able to wield him.
Sebek Zigvolt: Battle axe. A more old-school version of what Jonah (from Boyfriend Dungeon) is. Heavy weapon and hard to handle, just like him sometimes.
Grim: Flamethrower. He just can’t stop spitting fire, no matter what form he takes.

Bicorns, aka Sphinxes and Manticores
Mediterran Sphinx - one of the first chimeras ever created, the original sphinx was crafted by the monster progenitors Typhon and Echidna, themselves two of the most supremely powerful chimeras ever crafted.  A lion with the head of a human woman, the wings of an eagle, and the tail of a serpent, this chimera combined the vicious killing power with flight, venom, and a devious human intellect.  Though tricky to create, its power as both a guardian beast and a dauntless assassin/hunter made it much desired, and sure enough, wizards set out to replicate it, creating sphinxes of their own.
Wingless Sphinx - getting the combination of elements right in the original sphinx recipe is difficult, so it was inevitable that some wizards would try to simplify the hybrid a bit to make its creation more manageable.  The most pared down sphinx reduces it to a lion with a human’s head, which is easy enough to create and still results in a highly intelligent animal minion with the raw killing power of a lion, though it lacks a bit in flair.
Winged Sphinx - slightly more complicated but still easier than the original recipe, the winged sphinx is a bit harder to create than a standard griffin, providing a moderate challenge in creation but with results that are more than worth it.  Though it lacks the venom of the Mediterran sphinx, the winged sphinx is still a force to be reckoned with both on the land and in the sky.
Manticore - the most popular variation on the sphinx formula by far.  Substituting a tiger for the lion bits and a scorpion for the serpent, while axing the eagle entirely, the manticore has a vicious cunning that even the clever Mediterran sphinx lacks, creating a brutal hunter of men that is as devious as any human killer and as durable as the striped terrors of Ruslovak.
Mantydrac - the one thing holding manticores back from being as commonly created as griffins is the fact that scorpions are not incredibly common in Midgaehim, which resulted in some wizards trying to substitute something in their place.  Of course, wizards being wizards, many went straight to using dragons as an ingredient, despite dragon chimeras often proving to be uncontrollable monsters.  Sting-tailed wyverns are most commonly used, since the venomous stingers on their tails are roughly analogous to those of a scorpion, and the wings they provide to the resulting chimera are also desirable.  Peludas, a special breed of lesser drake covered in spikey armor, are also often used, with their mace-like spike-clubbed tails also proving to be an adequate substitute for a scorpion’s sting.  While the resulting chimera is definitely strong, Mantydracs almost always turn their keen predatory intelligence against their masters before anything else, then strike out on their own to terrorize a world that was not prepared for them.
Mantygre - more prudent wizards will replace the scorpion in their manticore with other mundane animals that just happen to be more easy to track down.  With a mix of scorpion, goat, and, oddly enough, sharks, the recipe can be stabilized into a beast whose tail is bristling with sharp spines (and the added bonus of multiple rows of teeth) without losing the cunning that makes manticores so useful as monstrous servants.
Feral Manticore - of course, the sheer number of sphinxes and manticores produced over time eventually led to feral populations, and the variations on the recipe eventually blended as these feral populations grew.  Feral manticores can exhibit a whole slew of different elements: scorpion stingers on wyvern tails, dragon or eagle wings, venomous quills, fire breath, the sky is the limit for these dreadful man-eaters, making them a dangerous predator to encounter in the wild.

Serotonin Booster :D🐉
How to train your dragon edition
Here are some things I had forgotten or little details I just noticed on my rewatch, maybe even Unpopular Opinions 🤭👀
✨Defenders of Berk✨
Not Astrid being pissed bc Fishlegs called her mean lmaooo
OMGGG "I would never call my father ridiculous. I'm calling my chief ridiculous" THE POWER OF THIS SCENE
The way Toothless just sat to look at the sunset.. Me too bby me too 🥺
Toothless and Thornado's shots combined was amazing!
"The first rule about the dragon flight club is that there is no dragon flight club"
Istg Meatlug and Fishlegs are made for each other
Baby whispering deaths!
OMG THEY JUST CAME UP WITH GRONCKLE IRON
I love seeing the origin of things ☺️
Wowww I just realized that Gobber has a unibrow
Sandstone makes glass
That shiny black rock makes another shiny black Rock, it also has Meatlug boiling
WOW a combination of multiple rock makes Meatlug a magnet
The way Hookfang pays more attention to Fishlegs than Snotlout is funny
Fishlegs on Toothless!!!!
"TOO MUCH FURY, TOO MUCH FURY!" JAHDHDHAH
Awwww love how Fishlegs feels happy abt being needed
DAGUR'S BACK AHH
I never understood why Dagur called Hiccup his brother but it's kinda funny
Young hiccup actually fighting is pretty badass and that shield 🥴
The way they were all trying to get Gobber to shower lmaooo
Gobber saved Gustav's life and Fishleg saved Astrid's
Am I the only one that finds the whispering deaths kinda funny, like yes they're scary but these mfs have tiny wings, a big ass head, are covered in spines and can't see like-
Newly hatched whispering deaths can be more deadly that adults bc they can't control their jaws or spines
WOW WOW WOWWWW A WHITE WHISPERING DEATH - Titanwing whispering death with red eyes OMG NO NO THIS IS THE SCREAMING DEATH I KNEW IT ‼️‼️
Wow but the pain in Snotlout's eyes 🥺
Monstrous nightmares are stoker-class dragons
Fireworms get brighter the closer they get to each other
Ohhhhh now I get the history behind Hookfang and the fireworms queen's connection
"You're not just another sword, Hookfang"
Awww the fireworm queen saved Hookfang, I ship them now JSHDHSHS
BABY ASTRID!! 🥺🥺🥺 AWWW
Flightmare - follows the glowing algae caused by Aurvandil's fire, sprays a paralyzing mist to those who it considers a threat to its survival
Aurvandil's fire = Aurora Borealis
YES ASTRID BEAT SNOTLOUT UP
Hiccup: Well, you know, Astrid, uh, training dragons isn't the only thing I think about.
Astrid: Are you actually saying that to me with a straight face?
JAHSHAHAJAJ I SWEAR I LOVE THESE TWO the way both of them said these lines I can't ✋🏼😂
The way she said the exact same thing as her uncle and even took on the name I-
I have this headcanon that bc I'm pretty sure Astrid's parents were barely mentioned in the shows or movies that her uncle was the person that was there for her the most which is another reason why it upset her to see people making fun of him
Why does whenever Astrid gets shot by a dragon she always tries to hit it off like her axe is a baseball bat? 😂
Hiccup saving Astrid in the flightmare ep🥺🥺🥺🥺
GLOWY TOOTHLESS AND GLOWY STORMFLY AND GLOWY MEATLUG ARE ADORABLE
Awww I love how Hiccup makes sure to mention the fact that "Fearless Fin Hofferson was indeed fearless, just like all the Hoffersons" 🥺🥺🥺 STOP AND THEN SHE SMILES AND HE PROCEEDS TO PUT HIS HAND ON HER SHOULDER I-🥴🥴🥴
I love how they're always interrupted whenever they're about to say a bad word
Lil terrible terrors are adorable 🥺
The fact that what they were trained for was actually useful it's crazy
Astrid: "no one is kissing me on the lips ever!!" HHSHAHAH ASTRID WHY U LYING
I feel like we don't appreciate how smart Hiccup actually is, and I don't mean that dragon-wise or building stuff-wise I mean in general. I'm in ep9 and they're finding old dragon traps to get rid of them and there was a lil breeze and he was like "there's a dry hot wind coming in from the north. It hasn't rained in 2 months. This is definitely fire weather." like how- am I the only one that would've been like okok a nice warm breeze 😩
Dude the typhoomerangs are so scary and huge wtf
I KNEW HE WAS TORCH
Torch actually built a lil relationship with Tuff just for that but of time I love it
WE'RE FINALLY GONNA SEE THE SKRILL!! I love it it's one of my favorite dragons :D
I never understood why fishlegs says his name when he's excited
Skrills - The skrill was first found frozen, it's the symbol of the Berserkers, it can stay safely frozen for decades because of their internal body temperature, can't redirect any lightning if it's in the water 😳
Y'all the skrill and the nightfury have gotta be related somehow, they're probably like cousins or sum. I mean the night fury is the "unholy offspring of lighting and death" and the skrill can control lightning AND TECHNICALLY TOOTHLESS CAN TOO REMEMBER HTTYD 3 + they also have similar physical characteristics at least Imo.
Dude this dragon is so badass 😌🤩🥰😩🥴❣️🤍🤝 I'm literally so obsessed
Wow one of the first times I see the twins actually doing sum useful
The way the shots combine🥴
Dagur has misophonia - condition where people experience intense negative emotions for sounds such as eating, chewing, loud breathing or even repeated pen-clicking [ep11]
Oh wow so they originally trapped the skrill in this show i didn't know
Wait but baby Gustav is actually adorable wtf and the fact that he and Snotlout have matching Viking hats
OMG SEE NOW I'M SEEING GUSTAV'S ORIGIN WITH HIS DRAGON AND HIS DESIRE TO BECOME A RIDER
Fanghook🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Ruff puts fish oil on her hair to get "a greasy unwashed look"
Really hate when Snotlout doesn't accept no for an answer
THE HAND THING AHHHH I LOVE IT this time is Ruff and a scauldron
Ok guys so I did this with mi friend's puppy who I accidentally scared enough to make him piss himself and I'm pretty sure I traumatized him and now when I'm around the poor dog tries to get as far away from me as possible but one day we were kinda bonding although he still wouldn't let me pet it AND I DID THE HAND THING BECAUSE WHY NOT AND THIS LIL MF ACTUALLY PUTS HIS FACE IN MY HAND- I screamed and he left again🥺😂 BUT IT DID WORK
Scauldy🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥰😌☺️🤩🤍
Ok but ruffnut with short hair 🤩
Speedstingers
Also the way Astrid ran up to Hiccup in the ep14
Wait but the scene whenever they're fighting the Speedstingers and Fishlegs says they're too fast but Hiccup's like "not for a nightfury" and then they show Toothless dodging the Speedstinger's attack AND THEN THEY SHOW HICCUP PROTECTING HIMSELF WITH HIS SHIELD WHICH GETS THROWN AWAY BUT RIGHT THERE TOOTHLESS CATCHES IT AND THROWS IT BACK TO HICCUP who's like "Thanks bud" 🤩🤩🤩 literally so badass go watch it!! It's ep14 frozen min 17:40
I really liked the relationship Snotlout and Astrid created with each other's dragon 🥺
HOOKFANG'S WINGBLAST AND STORMFLY'S SINGLE-SPINESHOT ARE HELLA BADASS... I love how they worked together this time 🥺
DUDE JAHDHSJAJJJSA ppl really underestimate Ruff's cleverness, this bish really gets Tuff to do the dumbest things just to enjoy looking at him hurting himself JAHDHSJAH😂
TOOTHLESS REALLY JUST BIT AN EEL'S HEAD OFF TO SAVE HICCUP🥺
Baby toothless is high🥺
"Uh, okay. That one was a little close to the one good leg" JAHDHAHSHA ISTG I LOVE THIS DUDE
Johan hates Snotlout for breaking his stuff
Tuff got Macey the Mace from Trader Johan
Astrid looks hot without her shoulder pads
Ok but Dagur looks so weird without his viking hat in this show
The baby thunderdrums are adorable - BING BAM AND BOOM
NOOO STOICK JUST LEFT THORNADO 🥺
OHHH SO ALVIN WAS ACTUALLY FROM BERK and he was Stoick's best friend
Snotlout and Hiccup are parallels of Alvin and Stoick
Ok but that trick Snotlout did was amazing, he really had Hookfang do a lil typhoomerangs move and then the wingblast🤩
I FINISHED IT OMG NOW ONTO RTTE!!

This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs", as it is characterised by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins. The style uses the human body to mimic the weapons and combat of centuries gone by. The fist takes the place of the sword and daggers, and the elbow emulates the crushing mace. The feet and knees take the place of the axe and staff. The shins and forearms are specially trained and hardened to play the role of armor and shield and are used to block blows. In practice, the style uses a combination of punches, elbow strikes, kicks and knee strikes, to create one of the most exhilarating and bloody combat styles today.

As was before with the planes, I'm not too knowledgeable about martial art styles, but I'm very grateful and intrigued by the descriptions you gave on each pick! The only two things I would change/wonder about is Mari having a martial art style that relys mostly on lower body (AKA her weakest part of the body) and how Jeet Kune Do seems more like Kel's style rather than Hero's. I won't say more than that 'cause you do seem to know more than me about it, John!
