Though you forgot Solomon and Simeon! I like their dynamic, too. They have some really cute and domestic chats in OG. There are a few that really make them sound like Luke's dads, too.

Anyway, I am a multishipper in case you couldn't tell... I will ship anything and everything because I find it so so interesting to see how different people would end up together. Even characters that seem like they don't like each other or that don't interact much in canon. In fact, those are often the most compelling (see sololuci).

My brain just immediately considers what it would take for these specific characters to fall for each other. And then I get plagued with the ideas.

And Solomon just has so much potential with everybody.

Might I also offer for your consideration Solomon and Diavolo? There's this one Barb card where they like team up because they want to try out this new magic and they need Barb's help. But they mess up and send him randomly crashing through a portal into MC's room. It's so funny and Barb is just like... those two equals chaos. So of course my mind is like... oh? Chaos you say??

Anyway, fully agree, Solomon could date anybody if he really wanted to.

Why was lan yueheng's threat of not speaking to him so horrifying to the surrounding lans? Loved that he carried 3 math textbooks around with him.

Lan Yueheng is fundamentally a friendly amiable person, who doesn't hold grudges or really get angry at anybody. It takes an awful lot for him to get even a little upset, much less a lasting sort of upset, and getting upset enough that he decides to stop talking to you is about as bad as it gets for him.

And, like. sure. you COULD keep talking with someone who upset Lan Yueheng enough to make him decide not to talk to them.

Currently typing out my responses to asks I’ve gotten (I’ve seen them, I promise I’ll post my answers soon 😅) and it made me remember another gripe I have with Mal that I forgot in my big deconstruction of her because there’s so much that went wrong with her. In descendants 3, Mal lies to all of her friends. This character who supposedly became a better person, is now doing the most selfish thing we’ve seen her do in the movies by lying to everyone just because she knew they’d be mad (meaning she knew her decision was at least contentious), and later “realizes” what she did was wrong. Except… she doesn’t.

When her friends are turned to stone, she sings “my once upon a time”, which is the biggest proof ever that she’s become a worse friend than she’s ever been. Her decisions and actions have caused her friends to be turned to stone and for the whole of Auradon to be sent to sleep (since her love potion started Audrey’s descend into villainy), and when she sings her little song… it’s about her. Her and her happy ending. Outside of the first two lines the whole song is about how people will see her. She only feels bad about her lies because they crumbled (“you cannot build a castle on a mountain made of sand”, the castle is the happy life Mal wants, the sand is the lies. It’s all about her, not the fact that she fucked a lot of kids over and hurt everyone around her). And she doesn’t even mention any guilt over her fucked up decision to close the barrier forever when that’s the worst “solution” she could have come up with. The whole song is about her once upon a time, and about how she writes her own story and wants people to remember her as someone who tried to do good. It’s all. About. Her.

This is supposed to be her big moment of realizing what she needs to do, right? It’s the turning point of her character arc in this movie, the moment we see she’s learned and changed, and what do we see? A fundamentally selfish sentiment. She’s doing this not for the people she cares about, not for the greater good, but for herself. And the worst part is that, given the narrative of the movie, this was clearly unintentional. Whoever’s idea this was clearly didn’t think it through very well.
