I love you @wheresmybubble
Some process videos from the book I’ve been working on for the past 1.5 years. Excited to see it all finally coming together. My deadline is approaching soon, so I’ll be signing out from the digital world again to focus on getting all the pages wrapped up over the next couple of months! Hope you are all doing OK ❤️ .

'Everything is OK' by Debbie Tung (@wheresmybubble). I am so glad I just read this. Been a massive fan of Debbie Tung's work for a while and I feel like this just came out when I most need it. I love how it points out the expectations we're raised to achieve can break us and it is totally ok to rest and we should be kind to ourselves (as we're being kind to others). Since I've been diagnosed with Myositis (and now ILD), I feel like I've been harsh to myself. Accepting and adapting to a new reality is hard but I think I'm starting to get used to the idea and I'm proud of that ✌️ #acceptance #depression #debbietung #everythingisok #comicbook #graphicnovel #itsokaynottobeokay #realisation #chronicillness #seekinghelp #therapy #autoimmunedisease #myositis #ild #interstitiallungdisease #health #mentalhealth #goodhusband https://www.instagram.com/p/CmuOsK_P3iD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Image ID: a sketchy four panel cartoon. C. 2021 Debbie Tung, @wheresmybubble
First two panels have a person wearing ponytail, hoodie, and jeans, toting a large box full of brightly colored jars. Caption reads, "it's easy to always want to show up... For everyone else" and the smiling ponytail person is offering bright jars to two other delighted people.
Second two panels show the ponytail person with one last brilliant yellow jar remaining in the box. Caption reads, "but it's really important to show up ...for yourself as well". Final image: the ponytail person hugs their knees under a tree, gazing at the night sky. The sky's full of stars the same color as the jar that sits by their hip, keeping them company.

Middle School Monday: Book Love by Debbie Tung
If you love sweet uplifting comics and you love books, you’ve probably already seen some of Debbie Tung’s comics. Her Tumblr, Where’s My Bubble? is one of the many Tumblrs that I follow. Her comics tend to be short and heartfelt, focusing on topics like relationships, hope, taking care of yourself, tea, and books. This collection of comics is all book-themed, which means you’ll find lots of comics about bookstores, libraries, and getting more books that you could possibly read.
This book is in our adult graphic novel collection, but the comics are so easy to read that I’m recommending it for any audiences in middle school or older. If you’re a bookworm, you will absolutely LOVE this book!

This is Me! And Just like that, here I Am. Trillian, from ISCA. Yeah yeah. Today I managed to bump into Tumblr. I had heard about it but nothing gelled-- I have plenty of ways to wast -- er, spend time. You know, like ISCABBS and Facebook. And Life, which happens even if it isn’t the least bit Real. So, tumblr... I just hadn’t investigated. But _nobody_ ever told me about comixology! Somebody should have! Why hasn’t the universe conspired to have me discover it sooner than today? We may never know. [LeSigh.] Wait, Ed... I think I might blame you! But... I was trying to create an account so I could share Debbe Tung and now my page looks like I’m pretending to be here in some stalkerish way. Oops. So... Check out Quiet Girl in a Noisy World on @comixology -- And all things Debbie Tung.and her work. Comic: “Where’s My Bubble” and books, like the one above. Quiet Girl in a Noisy World. It resonates. They way things do when you meet someone from your tribe.
Even if I’m the loudest introvert you will ever meet. ....And, quite possibly, about to be sued by Debbie Tung for intellectual property law unless I can figure out how change this post. #reallybadattumblr #itsmyfirstday

Happy Sunday bookworms! I hope it has been a wonderful weekend for you! . I’ll be honest, I’ve developed quite the book crush on @wheresmybubble. Debbie Tung’s illustrations celebrate life as an introvert and her love of books and reading. Her drawings resonate with me on SO many levels. Her search for an ideal world, a bubble where all the things she loves coexist equally – is so relatable. So is her desire to spend all day reading. What more is there is love? Her illustrations are adorable and I devour them greedily… if you don’t already follow her Instagram @wheresmybubble, then I encourage you to seek it out. It makes me smile every time I see one of Debbie’s post and this gorgeous little book – Book Love – is the perfect compilation of all kinds of bookish love and the daily #bookwormproblems we struggle with * cough * never-ending-tbrpile-and-wishlist-and-not-enough-hours-to-read-in-a-day * cough * . #debbietung #wheresmybubble #booklove #comics #introvert #bookworm #bibliophile #bookaddict #bookcrush #covelust #bookoftheday #shelfie #bookshelfie #sundayshelfie #shelfiesunday #rainbowbooks #bookishrainbow #booksbooksbooks (at Liverpool) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw0CjganTLa/?igshid=9mcngmr4haqv

Book Love by Debbie Tung
Read time: <1 Day Rating: 4/5
The quote: Books can take you... To magical places.
This is a fun book. A collection using a super cute style. The comics cover a variety of topics from a narrow as recommending ways to get over a reading slump to removing price tags. Broadly it covers bookshops and libraries and just the general joys of escapism. Many of the comics feature a loving partner acting as rational thought (but when do we listen). It is quite relatable for book lovers. It isn't perfect. It does lean into some tropes I wish would die. Specifically, that paper and hard backs are Superior to e-books and are the only "real" books, and that the film will always be worse than the book.
I have my favourites in this book. The replications of book covers are glorious. This book is only 18 x 12cm there is a double page with 32 covers on it acting as recommendations. Among these are some detailed covers Persepolis, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and A Thousand Splendid Suns. They look exactly right, I know they would have been drawn bigger originally (the original for one is on her Instagram it's the same size as the book). But they are so impressive to me. There is a wonderful street scene featuring a book fair. All the full-page pieces are so lovely.
Some of the comics are available on instagram and tumblr @wheresmybubble. As with others, it seems to be that the artist is moving away from tumblr (for clear reasons).

Quiet Girl in a Noisy World is a journal comic collection by Debbie Tung about her life as an introvert. More precisely, it’s about her discovering the concept of introversion and accepting herself. The collection shows her struggle from childhood (through flashbacks) through university to when she has a real ‘grown-up’ job, all the while struggling with the amounts of socialization that’s expected of her.
Honestly this entire book was so ridiculously relatable to me, that sometimes it almost felt like Tung had managed to grab hold of my diary. There were things in there that I for years thought only I was going through (like feeling like you’re disappearing when making small talk) and honestly reading that someone else has experienced these things too has made me feel so much more...
Keep reading on my blog!

[ID: Four-panel comic by Debbie Tung (@/wheresmybubble).
[first panel] A person in a grey hoodie and long black trousers is walking in a light drizzle. There are a few grey clouds in the sky. The caption says, “It was really hard to let things go”
[second panel] The rain has become a downpour, and the person is now running. The sky is full of dark clouds. The caption says, “But I realised I don’t miss them as much as I thought”
[third panel] The rain has stopped, and the clouds in the sky have retreated somewhat, leaving only a few grey ones floating in the distance. The person is facing forward, their arms up by their hood as if to push it back. The caption says, “I guess some things”
[fourth panel] The clouds have retreated completely, leaving behind a rainbow. The person has pushed back their hood to reveal long hair pulled into a ponytail. They have started walking again, a light smile on their face. The caption says, “are meant to be left behind”
\End ID]
Some things are better left behind.
