please please please may i ask how/where you managed to acquire cassette tapes & player & how do you record onto them because that sounds cool as FUCK and id love to do something similar but i can’t find anything about burning tapes or even buying them anywhere (or even burning cds tbh)

i got the cassette tape player from retrospekt! they sell a lot of refurbished vintage tech including diff kinds of walkmen and record players and film cameras and tbh. everything's a Little expensive and there are cheaper options out there, but i saw they had very consistently good reviews on products showing up and actually working and i was paranoid abt getting something that doesn't work And i don't know how to fix. i chose the peanuts beagle scouts one for $99, but they have other refurbished and even a couple newer tape players that have bluetooth and such for a bit more money, whatever she's cute

as for casette tapes themselves i already had a bunch bc a lot of record shops will have a section that sells them for like $1-5, and i liked to pick up movie soundtracks as a cool way to have merch even before i could play them at all lol. even if i don't want to listen to the tape, i figured i could record over them with anything i want, but this option are used tho and most of those will be decades old and thus quite warped and fucked, so i finally caved bought a pack of 10 tapes on amazon for like $15 which is still not bad at all (retrospekt and other online sites sell prerecorded cassette tape albums of more modern stuff but they are SO overpriced when you see how cheap blank/used ones are)

for recording over a cassette tape it's very easy, especially if you don't mind your music sounding super fucking shitty lmao. (if you want high quality recording tips i recommend reddit's r/cassetteculture, tho they are all gearheads and spend a lot more money on dedicated tape decks and such than i'm willing to).

get your tape. identify whether it's blank, or if it is a pre-existing tape you're recording over. if blank, skip to step 3.

you're going to see two holes on the outside edges (picture below). these are what prevent a pre-existing tape from being overwritten, so you're going to want to straight up just cover these up (i use scotch tape, shoving crumpled up paper in there also works)

3. grab a male-to-male audio jack (i got mine at best buy). plug one end into the headphone jack of your laptop, the other end into the microphone jack of your cassette tape player. 4. make sure the audio output of your laptop is to "outside headphones" (aka your cassette tape). hit record, and press play on your music! that's it.

side note: if you are recording over! i recommend first recording over both sides completely with silence, just to minimize on ghosting and to straighten out the tape a lil

regardless the audio will be janky, but adjusting what volume the output is helps a lil. idk i'm a Super Novice who is basically in this for the aesthetic and so that i have an excuse not to bring my phone to the library

While Welch's reporting has long supported the Era 300 offering support for spatial audio formats like Dolby Atmos, this report gives us the clearest idea yet of what Sonos has in store for the future, and includes real marketing images from Sonos. The full report is worth reading, as I'm mostly going to focus on my thoughts on this lineup. The speakers are expected to launch in March.

The two biggest updates coming to both speakers are the addition of Bluetooth and a USB-C port replacing the Ethernet jack that's long been a staple of Sonos speakers. You can see this pictured in images shared by leaker _snoopytech_.

Bluetooth is a technology long spurned by Sonos' powered speakers, though its two portable products (Roam and Move) rely on it outside the home. I wouldn't be surprised if Sonos went with LE Audio here for maximum future proofing and audio quality. LE Audio includes support for the LC3 codec, which offers dramitcally higher quality at the same bitrates compared to other wireless codecs. It also allows multiple devices to pair with the same speaker, or multiple headphones to connect to the same source phone. LE Audio in phones is still not widely available but the hardware is present in nearly every new smartphone around, waiting for a software update to enable it. Sonos is known to stay ahead of the curve on this type of support, so I won't be shocked if we see LE Audio enabled out of the gate.

The USB-C port is the more interesting change. Ethernet on Sonos has long been the best way to set your speakers up over relying on Wi-Fi: a feature called Sonos Net. Welch's reporting confirms the type-C port will be capable of accepting line-in audio from a turntable, or connect to Ethernet by way of adapters Sonos will sell. I assume these will work just as well as off-the-shelf USB-C dongles you can buy for the same purpose (and probably less money).

What's not been confirmed by Welch is if these will act as USB audio devices for a computer or mobile device when connected with a standard USB-C cable. If you've always wanted to have Sonos speakers in your office but had issue connecting them to your PC, I can see this being an appealing feature. Just connect your desktop to a Sonos Era 100 and instantly have a high-quality speaker to use for computer audio that also can play music with the rest of your home. Bonus points if Sonos lets connected computers utilize the on-board microphones for video calls. For now we'll be waiting on the official announcement for this to be confirmed.

Welch also confirms that both new speakers will be able to self-tune themselves to the room they're placed in, giving some relief to Android users who've long missed out on TruePlay tuning. However, mobile device-dependent TruePlay tuning will still be the best way to tune your speaker's sound and will remain exclusive to Apple devices.

To focus on the Era 100 specifically, Welch confirms that the speakers insides are just as updated as the outsides, with a new price falling in the ballpark of $250. The 100 will have an additional tweeter for support for stereo sound (instead of downmixing stereo to mono like the Sonos One does), as well as an enlarged mid-woofer (although he did not confirm how large that new woofer would be). The current Sonos One sports a 3.5-inch woofer, and while that speaker sounds ok by itself, a stereo pair of Sonos Ones (or One SL) has consistently been a pleasant way to enjoy music.

I suspect a Stereo pair of Era 100s will offer the most meaningful improvement over comparing two standalone speakers. Having four tweeter in the mix (presumably side-firing) plus two larger woofers should add a wider sound stage and larger sweet spot over what two Sonos Ones can achieve.

Unfortunately, Welch did not confirm if the SL (or microphone free) variant of the Era 100 would be included in the March launch or if we'll be waiting on that speaker. I hope the 100 SL is available at launch as it's a great way to save a bit of money on a stereo pair of speakers since you only need a single microphone-equipped speaker to get voice control.

The biggest letdown of Welch's reporting is the lack of spatial audio support or up-firing drivers on the Era 100. While the speaker will of course work as rears in a Sonos home theater, users will need to pay up for the Era 300 if they want to add additional height channels to their Sonos Arc or Beam system.

Expected to cost in the ballpark of $450, the Sonos Era 300 will be the company's first dedicate music device for spatial audio formats like Dolby Atmos music (Sony's less popular 360 Reality format would also qualify if Sonos supports it). Sporting six drivers total, the 300 is meant to totally fill a room with music. If the reported pricing holds true, the Era 300 will cost a whole $100 less than the flagship Sonos Five, which is also expected to stay in Sonos' lineup unlike the Sonos One. This will undoubtedly spur speculation of an ultra-premium spatial audio speaker in the future to complete the lineup.

The Era 300 will be the first time Sonos has offered a product meant to comprehensively enhance the home theater experience on offer for those who can afford it. Two Era 300s will cost the same as a single Sonos Arc soundbar. At $1800, users will be sacrificing a dedicated subwoofer for the same price as top of the line soundbar systems from companies like Samsung.

Sonos is going to need to offer a massive upgrade for users to justify this premium. Previously a fully kitted Sonos home theater system, with an Arc, Sub, and two One SLs, commanded $2100. If you want to go all out now expect to fork over $2600 for Sonos' best experience.

I don't want to sound too skeptical. While most home theater entusiants will focus on the ability to finally add rear speakers with dedicated height drivers (matching systems from Samsung), it's worth noting that the side-firing drivers in the 300s could be just as important to enhancing an Arc-based home theater. With those drivers wokring in tandem with the Arc's side-firing drivers, it could be possible for Sonos to create two new virtual surround channels. The Arc's ability to place sound right next to me with the aid of stereo rears is already impressive but this could be a major step up. In total, Sonos users could take their Arc systems from a 5.1.2 setup with a single sub and standard surrounds, to a 7.1.4 or 7.2.4 setup by adding Era 300s and one or two Subs depending on their needs.

My home theater is in a fairly small room, and I've found the Arc's surround effects to be more than effective here, but I'd be lying if I wasn't at least curious to see how my system could benefit from the Era 300s. There's no doubt however that the cost is going to be prohibitive for many. If Sonos has an Era 150 or Era 200 in the works, that cuts down on side firing drivers but maintains a height driver for added Atmos performance, I think many Arc customers would choose that first.

The big question for me is the AVR decoder on board the Sonos Arc itself. While the Arc is an impressive product, it's still got the less sophisticated Atmos decoder for soundbars on board. This is a limit put in by Dolby, and while the decoder has gotten leagues better with time, Dolby reserves the most precise decoder for more traditional AV receiver systems. Nakamichi's $3500 Dragon system will be the first wireless soundbar system to include the full-fat Atmos AVR decoder, which Nakamichi claims took years of talks with Dolby for them to secure. I bring this up because if your room is large enough to justify buying a second Sub for your Arc+Era 300 system, you'll be forking over $3400 at that point.

If Sonos wants its products to stand up to extensive cross-shopping, it's going to need to offer more meaningful upgrades now. If the announcement of the Era 300 comes with Sonos confirming it has secured the Dolby AVR decoder and is bringing it to all Arc users at no extra charge, I think that would be the biggest sign to existing users that continued investment in their Sonos systems is worthwhile. I'd be incredibly happy if my Arc got dramatically better at Atmos overnight, and knew that a wilder upgrade was possible with Era 300 down the line.

2017 Nissan Titan XD

Allow me to preface this with a declaration... I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS TRUCK NOW AND COMPANY. Not just the local Nissan dealership because we all know dealerships suck. But all the way up the the regional office in TN. They care absolutely nothing about issues with their trucks, and cover ups the local dealers do to sale the vehicle.

          When purchasing my 2017 Nissan Titan XD, I did as most SHOULD do but only few actually do. I looked for as much information and as many reviews as I could possibly find, as well as looked into prices for things like regular maintenance costs, upgrade costs, MPG and so on. What I found is, this is a grossly under-rated truck! Noone is buying them, and I can in fact see why. On the other hand, I don’t see why not! If you factor out to BS the dealer gives you (like Bender and Hamilton here locally) it is a pretty awesome truck, of course with it’s own ups and downs. I want to share some of these with you.

          First, let me break down what I actually look for in a vehicle, and what I do my best to avoid. To me, I am past the age where I care what anyone else thinks, I am not buying the truck to look cool or get featured in some magazine, so the first thing I look at is the condition and comfort of the area where I am the most… the cab! The 2017 Nissan Titan XD (sv) has the cab space equivalent to the Ford super crews, Chevy true crew cab, and just a little shy of the older Dodge megacab. I get a center console that has ample storage, albeit a little impractical with limited organization opportunity, which includes one smaller pocket on both sides of it, a semi-tiered deep open storage area under the cup holders which you can move from and back. A small pocket in from of that, below the usb/12v charging ports, that’s too shallow to stand a phone up in, and to narrow to lay a Samsung Galaxy s21+ in on its side. Then a MASSIVE covered storage bin what can easily fit 2 or 3 coats, possible a 24pk of soda, several pairs of shows, or two 30mm ammo cans with room on top. Behind the center console padded arm rest, another 2 drink holders. See more photos here on my IG.

          All four doors come with 2 bottle holds, and a decent pocket that trails them. The glove box is typical size for a truck, and just a single unlike the chevy. I get a great sized sunglass storage box up above, where a mini LED is always on when the truck is running (little annoying), the rear sliding glass opener, Bluetooth microphone, map lights and light control. The rear passengers will find amazing leg room (6ft person’s opinion) that can easily seat 3 adults. They get their own air vents, awkwardly located a little lower than one would think considering the are controlled with the “body” selection when choosing airflow ducts, under that is a convenient 110 outlet that is controlled with a button left of the steering wheel. If there are only two passengers, they will have the benefit of a fold out arm rest with 2 additional cup holders. Under the rear seats is a built-in storage area that is a little on the awkward side in shape. The driver side is approximately 12”x12, with two dividers that can be added and create two 4”x12” bins (one divider is oddly right next to the box wall). While the passenger side take up almost the rest of the 60/40 split, with a weird cutout that is supposed to be for a rifle barrel (or 2) which leaves a little more dead space than is to be desired. The back of the rear seats also folds down! Which open more storage availability for thinner items like jackets, rain gear, spare tire tools, portable jumper or jumper cables and more! However, this pretty awesome fact has 2 draw backs, first being no ability to slide the rear seat forward and back, which limits the girth of what can be placed behind the seat, and the location for the latch is almost dead-center of the backrest, which limits the ability to put jackets, tacti-cool accessories and things of the type on the back of the seat itself unless you are willing to cut the center out or push whatever you are handing to the side.           Up front for the feature controls… starting from the left, you have your basic 4 position light selector (off, auto, parking, on) along with your cluster dim/increase and trip reset buttons. Just underneath that you have a fog light button, ac 120v outlets button, and cargo light button. You can see the majority of them in the photos provided, they are pretty standard with the exception of heated seats, blindspot, park assist and traction control buttons. Steering wheel controls are pretty easy to access, although there could be a little improvement. The most annoying the driver and vehicle information center controls, that choose to work when they want. The cruise control also lease a little to be desired. Overall, I do give them a 3.5 out of 5 stars though.

          The bed comes with 5 of Nissans tie down tracks along with 4 of their adjustable tie down points, as well as the typical 4 welding points on the lower four corners of the bed, and 2 tracks on the floor that have a rubber strip inside that can be removed and allow the tie-down points to be utilized there if so desired. I personally feel this option is a little useless. You have to remove the entire rubber strip which allows for dirt, debris, mud, grit and grim to make that track a living hell. The 5 tracks around the upper insides of the bed (two on each side and one on the bulkhead), can be inverted which would allow for MOST tonneau covers. I am not sure if it is select trims, but my SV came with three holes that have removable caps that allow for gooseneck hitch and security chain attachments (that did not come with the truck) which is pretty awesome, as well as another 120v outlet on the drive-side, inside of the bed! A backup camera, running boards, rear window smoke and front and rear parking assist came stock, but are extremely sensitive and annoying! The camera is nice and clear, but I am a mirror man through and through, but when kids leave their bikes out it is pretty nice to have.

            The motor: A new 5.6-liter Endurance V8 engine was added to the TITAN XD lineup in the middle of 2016, backed by a 7-speed automatic transmission. Cast, forged and assembled at Nissan's Powertrain Assembly Plant in Decherd, Tennessee, the 5.6-liter Endurance V8 engine features four-valves per cylinder, Variable Valve Event & Lift and Direct Injection, and is rated at approximately 390 horsepower @ 5,800 rpm and 394 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The new  engine also features Nissan's advanced VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology, which combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake and exhaust sides to provide high performance and crisp response.

Throttle response is enhanced by directly controlling the intake valve, rather than using the traditional method of controlling intake with a throttle valve, and valve timing and opening with non-variable camshafts. The engine also features Direct Injection Gas (DIG™) technology, which provides better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system) by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offering precise injection control.

          Moderate fuel consumption should expected. With the 5.6l V8 7sp transmission and a throttle that is as touchy as this, it is very easy to burn through a quarter tank quickly if you don’t put yourself in check. The 5.6l does require a higher-octane fuel as well, so don’t just automatically go putting in that e-85, and definitely make a stop at the auto store a HIGH PRIORITY to get some fuel additive to clean out that cheap shit the dealers put in! Because why would they care, they only won’t your money and don’t think about treating the vehicles properly; if anything, they try to abuse them to get you to come back for service! Be prepared to pay a premium for fuel (because it is premium). The 26-gallon tank will eat up every bit of 80.00 (prices vary with local fuel costs). Or, if you are in a farming/AG area with local stations that do not add the ethanol, you can opt for the cheaper fuel, being lower octane, but still place on making that stop and getting the fuel additives beforehand. You will need a fuel system cleaner, as well as an octane booster still for the best performance. A vehicle is an excellent example of “you get what you pay for”, especially when it comes to maintenance and upkeep.

          After a little more time with the truck and some additions to her, I will update everyone. Overall, though, I am very pleased with the truck! It doesn’t ride as smooth as a Chevy, but still have a nice ride. It offers room for the family, storage, and the dogs love the spray on texturing in the back which greatly reduces their slipping and sliding. Nissan did cheap out a bit and just went with the plastic ribbed protector on the tailgate which my dogs absolutely hate! Being as tall as it is, only 2 of them can jump up and clear the gate, making it directly into the bed where they also jump out from. The other two, can’t quite make the cute so we lift them up, but they still don’t like being set down on the funky plastic first. My first mod is coming tomorrow (28 Sept. 2021) and it will be my window tinting. Fitness Bands

When I first started getting into fitness bands, I first tried the Amazon Halo. They offered me a pay over time thing. The original one had some of the same features that the modern fitbits do. Tacking sleep, membership, counting calories, Zone Points, heart rate, etc.

I did end up returning the initial one mostly because the fact that I didn't know how tight you were supposed to wear your band, and Amazon seemed concerned when I was getting red marks on my skin. They had told me to send it back to them and then they promised to ship me a replacement.

And then they did a 360 and apparently whoever had promised me a replacement, instead just gave me my money back that I had paid so far. It really took a lot of nagging and a lot of people checking the emails that were sent to me for them to realize that yes they didn't hold up their end of the bargain, and I got enough money to buy a replacement.

The original Halo lacked the touch screen and getting it to sync with your device was very difficult. It didn't like to share the Bluetooth so if you used your phone for Bluetooth speakers.. well now your whole day's data was ruined. You had to go through the process of wiping the device, and then re pairing the device with bluetooth.

Then around Christmas time 2021 they released the Halo view which is basically the equivalent of a modern color Fitbit.

With a touch screen there was quite a bit of improvement. You had exercises, timers and alarms. It dropped the microphone thing where it was listening to your voice for tone. I got it right away, and even got a discount.

It broke back in June 2022, and since I reviewed the reviews for it, apparently my issue of the Halo View breaking one day was quite common. In fact it was so common Amazon told me not to ship it back to them and that they would just give me a refund of what I already paid.

After checking other reviews for Halo View, I found out that Fitbit is the gold standard and so I switched. I've had a Fitbit Charge 5 since then. I do love to keep track of my meals there. It's something that the Halo could never do at the time. Hopefully they added it now.

But my Fitbit has revolutionized my fitness. It's easy for me to monitor my calorie intake, exercises, as well as sleep. It was certainly a step up from the very first Fitbit I ever had.

We got that from a local department store for $20. I want to say this was like the year 2002. It had a removable module that you had to stick into a USB and then insert into your computer. The module would then upload how many steps you walked that day. Then it would upload it to the internet with your account. I think if it displayed anything it probably only told you the time and the steps.

Fitbit has come a long way from the 2002 model I had.
