Beau x Cassie: The Great Missed Potential
Gif credit
Mourn the potential of these two with me.
Imho, this would have been the perfect way to go, the flawless slow burn, the relationship no one saw coming. Not only do they have the chemistry but it would have made sense in the story and for both of their characters. They were the real genuine article.
This intro scene in 2x18 had the earmarks of a great beginning for them.
And if you didn't see the romance potential, then mourn the brotp potential of these two with me. This would have been one epic friendship and partnership to witness. Now that the Beau/Jenny "romance" has been pushed into main focus (as if it wasn't there already), guaranteed Cassie will keep being pushed into the background which means their friendship will take even more of a backseat.
What could have been...
I've never been so sad over such horrible writing in my life. Talk about not realizing what you have and letting great story telling potential go to waste. All for the sake of numbers.

Kit, there is a discussion if Obi-Wan would use the nickname Ani for Anakin. What do you think?
i don't personally like it and rarely use it in my fics because for me it sounds out of character for my interpretation of obi-wan, but i wouldn't want someone else to stop using it because they think people think it's out of character and that they're wrong for using it or liking it, you know?
#not my obi-wan, but also #but maybe yours
#asks#i personally just dont like the nickname ani#and i see it used a lot for scenarios or fics where anakin is hyperfeminized which i also don't tend to like#(for either character for the record)#i don't even like it when padme calls him that and thta's just canon#big fan of the nicknam kin for him though#why doesn't anyone use it#it's right there at the end#call him Ken#he's just ken#feels like an an i dala meme for barbie and ken too#but anyway joking aside#i think in the past like month ive seen a lot more talk on tumblr about stuff like this#weighing fic tropes and canon and fanfic or fanart#and i think those discussions are interesting#i just also personally think i want to be careful when having them#because i don't want someone to feel like they're wrong or their understanding of obi-wan or anakin is wrong#because they think obi-wan would call him ani#and that makes them not want to participate in the fandom community writing or drawing or w/e#but on the other hand it's totally good and fine and natural and expected to have opinions#and have hills you'd die on#especially re characterization#so god do i not want to come off as preachy or anything#it's a fair question!! and i do have opinions lol

I love it when pre Original Trilogy era shows how much effort went into making the Death Star. It took decades, literal decades, and it took so much money and so many people and it was such a secretive thing and it’s staffed by millions because it’s the size of a small moon.
I cannot express how much all of the added information makes it so much funnier that Luke blew it up.
Luke destroys literally everything Palpatine built. He blows up the Death Star, which was referenced in universe as early as the second movie. He blew up the weapon of mass destruction twenty years in the making. And he blew it up pretty much directly after it’s first and only successful attack. It was operational for fifteen minutes, fifteen minutes that Palpatine had the thing he’d been building for longer than Luke has been alive, and Luke blows it up. First day retirement, but first hour retirement.
Luke convinces Darth Vader to turn back to the light side, a feat thought literally impossible by literally everybody. Sidious clearly doesn’t see Vader’s betrayal coming. Vader’s betrayal was not in his plans, nor was it something he was prepared for. Sidious is a powerful Force user with all four limbs while Vader is a man in the tin can Palpatine put him in. If Palpatine had seen Vader turning coming, he would not have allowed it to happen.
Luke literally should not even be alive. Palpatine almost definitely got Padme out of the way on purpose, and he almost certainly was trying for her unborn child as well (there was way too big of a risk that a cute liddol bebe would bring some humanity back to Anakin, and Palpatine did not want Anakin to have any humanity) Luke living is literally the first step in Palpatine’s ultimate downfall, especially once Vader finds out that Luke is his son. His very alive son. His son that is not dead, despite Palpatine claiming Anakin killed Padme. Implying that Anakin killed Padme and she posthumously gave birth. But, she didn’t give birth on Mustafar, which was the last place Anakin interacted with her. And once the mother dies, you have to get those fuckers out fast or they die too.
I imagine Darth Vader piecing all of this together is that meme with all the math floating around his head, because how could Padme have died by his hand and then given birth like two hours later?
Luke killing Palpatine is what ultimately leads to the dissolution of the Empire as an omnipotent entity. Luke killed the Empire. Luke spends a good amount of his adult life killing Empire remnants. We see that in the Mandalorian, since he’s so recognizable that Gideon immediately knows he’s fucked just by seeing an X-wing. We read it in Legends’ continuity, where Luke terrifies Imperials because he can walk into their changing room and stand in their for a minute and they don’t even notice.
Luke destroyed Palpatine’s life’s work. Everything Palpatine spent his whole life working towards, and Luke kills all of it. He blows up not one, but two Death Stars (he may not have pulled the trigger on the second Death Star, but without him, it never would have been destroyed). He convinces not one, but multiple Sith and Dark Jedi to return from the Dark Side. He is the only reason that Obi-Wan Kenobi, the biggest pain in Palpatine’s ass ever born, lives long enough to make it to the Death Star.
Palpatine went through so much effort. And just when he had finally won, when he finally had a weapon capable of destroying entire planets with a single blast, making it impossible for any planets or peoples to go against him, Luke shows up nineteen years late to the Jedi party with space Starbucks and a droid twice his age and almost singlehandedly destroys everything Palpatine ever had a hand in creating.
Luke manages to become even worse than Obi-Wan Kenobi, the ultimate thorn in the side of politicians, and Luke doesn’t even understand any politics. He wasn’t trained in diplomacy like Obi-Wan and Leia, no, he’s a farmboy who left home for the first time in his entire life, just this morning. And he is the one to destroy the Empire.
If they rewrote Star Wars and had it entirely from Palpatine’s perspective, Luke Skywalker would be his greatest foe. Luke Skywalker would be the final boss. Luke Skywalker is the antithesis of everything Palpatine believes in and he is the one character that Palpatine cannot predict. He isn’t as moldable as Anakin, he doesn’t respond to threats very well, he’s apparently impossible to kill via Force lightning (still the funniest scene of all times, the progression of Palpatine’s face falling and him looking like “what the fuck??? Is this kid rubber??? I’ve electrocuted him eight times???”), his unwavering faith in his father’s goodness makes Darth Vader want to be a better person, Luke Skywalker is the big bad of Palpatine’s story and—
There is nothing in this world that is funnier than someone’s biggest antagonist being Luke fucking Skywalker. Luke Skywalker, who saved the galaxy with the power of love and who shouldn’t exist, by Jedi rules and by Palpatine’s own attempts, and whose best friends are literally droids, which Palpatine canonically hates!
Everything about this is hilarious, this is the funniest thing in all of media, Palpatine loses absolutely everything to some backwater farmboy who fucking likes droids.
#luke skywalker#star wars#anakin skywalker#sheev palpatine#darth sidious#original trilogy#the inane ramblings of a madman#listen i recognize that other people are important in the plot of sw#but at the same time#luke is the marble that gets things rolling#just in general#luke is the reason obi wan eventually actually kills maul#luke somehow gave yoda hope that another generation of jedi was an achievable goal#luke saved leia from being executed#luke is the sun of the series#it’s from him that literally everything grows#the story that began this universe#is one of a boy becoming an adult#and so without luke skywalker#none of the characters would exist#thus luke is the sun and we should all bask in the rays#but also in how funny it is#that this guy was more of a pain than obi wan kenobi#a feat previously thought impossible#long post

You know I understand the take but I can´t help but see all those headcanons and memes of Anakin blaming Obi-Wan or the Jedi Order for his fall extremely OOC for his character. Vader believes the Jedi and the Republic fell because they abandoned their principles, not because of whatever relationship they had with him.
Vader dueled Obi-Wan on the Death Star(ANH) but he wasn´t even mad at his old master, he actually told him "You should not have come back" and "Your powers are weak old man" and "I was the learner now I am the master" that is it, that´s all Vader has to tell his master(the man he used to see as a father) after being left behind burning alive.
When Luke confronts Vader on Cloud city he tells Luke not to let himself be destroyed like Obi-Wan did, he is aware Obi-Wan used him to die and it doesn´t bother him because he is like ok, he wanted to go but please Luke dont do the same.
This man literal reaction at learning his child had been trained to kill him and his master was to offer him to rule the galaxy together as father and Son because of course he is a monster but he can offer his boy the galaxy and make up for it right?
This is Anakin, he justified his slave owner for owning him and his mom, he justified the Jedi despite separating and leaving his mother behind as a slave and cutting all contact from her, in fact he blamed himself for not going to her before she was kidnapped and murdered and he keep justifying the Emperor until he no longer was able to when he wanted to kill his Son in front of him.
Vader´s problem is the fact he keeps wanting to justify the systems he belongs to even if he finds them unfair but believes if he keeps trying to fix them all those sacrifices he made will be worth something in the end but he is totally unable to recognize to himself the way how living under those systems have shaped or hurt him and while he does see the damage those systems do for others, he believes he can stop that at some point(put order in the galaxy, put Padme in charge, defeat the emperor)
This is why an usual dialogue between Vader and anybody else who opposes him in canon is bassically, yes, I know I am a monster, I understand where are you coming from but it´s my duty to destroy you. Because eventually at some point he wants it be worth something, just like it was worth it to leave behind his mother as a slave, killing for the republic, killing for the Jedi and killing for the Empire, it has to be worth it.
Luke, by refusing to fight him, trusting him and loving him was the only way he could begin to free himself from the darkside, because he found someone who saw him worth living and being loved not for what he could do for them but because he was a person, his name was Anakin and he was worth being saved and he didn´t need to do anything else for Luke besides loving him back and protect him like a father does for his child.
That´s what snapped Vader out of his apathy, which is the actual opposite of the love Anakin used to have for the people in the galaxy, for the Jedi and for his family, that´s the Jedi that came back.

So my friend saw a meme about Osha's saber turning red so quickly despite Anakin's remaining blue all through killing the younglings, choking Padme, and fighting Obi-Wan and as I talked through it with him, the more I realized why the prequels never showed Anakin with a red saber.
To keep with canon, Luke gets Anakin's old saber and the kyber is BLUE not red. The writers probably didn't want to open another canon of worms by then having to retroactively explain 'so Vader's red saber isn't his original red saber and Obi-Wan somehow purified the kyber and made it blue again for Luke' rather than just....not doing that and having the saber remain blue
A red lightsaber on Mustafar? Visiually would have been a terrible choice for that battle, so blue it remained
Vader bleeding his crystal deserves its own story - just like Osha bleeding hers had it's own story. I really liked the comic where Vader bleeds his crystal [not giving more detail as spoilers in case everyone hasn't read the comics - and if you haven't, I really recommend Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith, it's only a 4 volume run and I thought it was great]
Anakin had a LOT going on through that entire movie - it wasn't a situation where he'd been repressing his emotions for so long and then was able to point to a singular cause of so much of his pain - his trauma was spread out so it makes sense that one singular act wouldn't be focused enough to bleed his crystal right then and there - Osha, on the other hand, had the singular cause of so many of her emotions right there in that courtyard, and the one who fostered her unjust hate toward her sister is standing right there revealing the truth.
Maybe there is a whole thing where the kyber has to be exposed, not fully in a lightsaber, in order to properly bleed it - in Jedi: Survivor [spoilers] Dagan pulled his crystal out with the force and bled it right in front of us (just as quickly as Osha, I might add), in the comics, Vader holds the crystal and bleeds it, and in The Acolyte, the saber is busted to the point where the crystal was literally touching Osha's hand - as Anakin is a little busy at the moment, he didn't really take the time to take apart his saber to bleed the crystal in the moment.
So idk, people complaining that 'so sabers are like mood rings now and just change that quickly? Guess Anakin wasn't actually all that upset at the end of episode 3!!' just seem so silly to me.
The entirety of The Acolyte's story was Osha dealing with her emotions she had been repressing for 16 years - and the reveal that what she thought was true (which led to the emotions she was told she needed to repress) had always been a lie. The bleeding of her crystal wasn't a quick, easy thing, it took literally the whole season to build up to that point.
And the aftermath when she's collapsed on the ground shaking - holy hell, I love when intense emotions are shown in 'unconventional' ways. Not all of us feel intense emotions and show it through huge, loud, and expansive displays. Some of us collapse in on ourselves and experience it in 'quieter' ways that are still just as intense as screaming.
Anyways, The Acolyte is really good.

Obi-Wan, time-traveled back to Umbara: don’t worry Anakin :) I’ll take care of Krell while you’re off with the Chancellor :)
Anakin, very unnerved by the smiling: you mean sending him reinforcements right?
Obi-Wan, completely out of fucks to give: I absolutely do not :)
#I thought about redoing this#with obi wan and anakin#but I feel like#the part where it's anakin#in the meme makes this#so much funnier

It's very weird to see memes that imply the Jedi are just constantly asking Padme for her assistance when it never struck me as happening all that often, so I did a little research.
There are three instances of Jedi going to Padme specifically for her help across PT and TCW:
Council asks Padme to spy on Rush Clovis
Obi-Wan asks Padme to speak to Palpatine about the Zillo Beast being brought to Coruscant
Obi-Wan asks Padme where Anakin is
Padme is also seen helping Ahsoka during her trial, but it's never confirmed who asked Padme to help Ahsoka or if Padme simply offered her services out of friendship to her.
Just for the sake of comparison, I went and found all the times that Padme specifically goes to the Jedi to ask for aid, either for herself or for someone else:
Padme assigns Obi-Wan and Anakin to retrieve Dooku after he is captured by Hondo
Padme lies to Queen Neyutnee to get Obi-Wan and Anakin assigned to the Blue Shadow Virus mission
Padme asks Ahsoka to use her Jedi clearance so she can illegally sneak Padme into Separatist territory to speak to Mina Bonteri
Padme asks the Jedi to send someone to Mandalore on Satine's request
Padme also receives Jedi assistance a LOT. I counted 14 instances of Padme being sent Jedi aid either by the Senate or the Jedi Council, Padme having a Jedi bodyguard, Padme being accompanied by a Jedi on a mission, and Padme just generally being rescued by Jedi when she gets into trouble.
There are four instances of Padme specifically asking the Jedi (or A Jedi) for aid, and NUMEROUS instances of Padme receiving aid from the Jedi (whether it's as a bodyguard, a rescue, or aid sent by the Senate).
The Jedi turn to Padme LESS OFTEN than she turns to them and Padme seems to rely on the Jedi to bail her out of trouble so much more often than the Jedi rely on her for anything.

QuinFox and #34 for the kiss meme??
34 - A kiss after a bite
This ended up a lot softer than I meant it to, but I love it <3
-
“Mine.”
The word is nothing but a soft puff of air against Quinlan’s neck, and yet it sends shivers down his spine. Fox presses a kiss to his pulse point and moves lower, to his collarbone.
“Mine.”
Another soft kiss, followed by a teasing nip. Quinlan’s breath stutters, hand tightening in Fox’s hair, but he holds still, as Fox had told him to. Fox’s displays of affection aren’t usually this soft, but Quinlan certainly doesn’t mind. Especially not when Fox’s crystalline presence is sparkling so beautifully. There’s fractals of color being thrown across the walls, lighting up Fox’s dim bunkroom. Quinlan wishes Fox could see it.
“Mine.”
The next kiss is on Quinlan’s jaw. Fox’s chapped lips brush against his stubble, tracing Quinlan’s jawline until he reaches the shell of Quinlan’s ear. Fox nuzzles and whispers again,
“Mine.”
Another kiss. They both run hot, but Fox runs hotter. His touch feels like brands against Quinlan’s skin, burning him, sending fire through his veins. Quinlan craves more of it. He can never get enough of Fox, even now, both of them stripped down and pressed together, nothing but skin-on-skin.
“Mine.”
The next one has more possessiveness in it. Quinlan can feel Fox’s lips moving against his temple as he repeats the claim, voice breathy and rough. As a Jedi, Quinlan should shy away from possessiveness like this, but he’s a Shadow. He knows how to walk the line between Light and Dark. And Obi-Wan has always said he has a thirst for danger. Fox is very dangerous.
“Mine.”
The corner of Quinlan’s mouth. Quinlan wants to tilt his head and catch Fox’s lips in a proper kiss, wants to devour him and be devoured in return. But that will come later. He may not look it, but Quinlan knows how to be patient.
“Mine.”
Back down to his neck, on the curve of his Adam’s apple. There’s another nip with this one, and the tiny flash of teeth against skin shoots a thrill through Quinlan’s limbs. Still, he waits.
Fox returns to the side of Quinlan’s neck. His lips brush over Quinlan’s pulse point again, and then his tongue, a wet heat that never fails to drive Quinlan out of his mind. Quinlan can hear his heart pounding in his ears, feel his blood rushing with anticipation, but keeps his breathing even and his eyes fixed on the dancing colors of Fox’s presence in the Force.
Fox licks again, and then his teeth are positioned over a familiar spot. His favorite spot to bite, right over Quinlan’s pulse point, high enough that the mark will be seen over the collars of any of Quinlan’s tops.
“Mine.”
Fox bites, and Quinlan moans as sharp canines dig in just hard enough to bruise without breaking skin. Fox has never gone that far, says he never will, but honestly, Quinlan certainly wouldn’t mind if he did. He’s a little fucked up that way.
The bite lasts for exactly five seconds, and then the pressure vanishes, leaving a throbbing ache that is quickly soothed by Fox’s tongue lapping over the slowly-forming bruise. Then, chapped lips again, pressing a gentle kiss where sharp teeth had been just moments before.
“Mine.”

Its honestly so painful to me, the sheer amount of turmoil that Anakin has experienced in his life. If you really sit down and think about what he's been through, he truly is one of the most tragic characters in fiction.
Born a slave to a single mother on a backwater, forgotten, barren world with no opportunities (Sidenote as much as we laugh at the "I don't like sand" meme, it actually is a meaningful line. He hates that world, that life, wants to put it behind him. Can't help but think of the mother he abandoned there)
Forced to choose between freedom and leaving his mother to her fate. A ridiculous amount of pressure to put on a 9 year old
Loses the only father figure he's had, and ultimately the only person to truly show faith in him, almost immediately after finding him
Becomes a burden and disappointment to a reluctant, inexperienced master (Before you come at me, I ADORE Obi-Wans and Anakins relationship. I love their banter, and I truly think they loved one another ridiculously and my heart breaks at what they became. But I do think that Anakin felt like a burden and disappointment sometimes. Especially at the beginning, Obi-Wan only really takes him on out of duty to Qui-Gon, it wouldn't have been his own choice. He didn't believe in him the way Qui-Gon did. And because Obi himself was grieving and young and inexperienced, he didn't have the confidence to guide Anakin the way he should have. He falls back on the rules too much, after bending them to take him on in the first place. He's too strict with him, too harsh. He doesn't tell him how much he loved him until it's too late, which just adds to the angst)
Is constantly told that he needs to let go of his attachment to his mother whilst being plagued my dreams of her death.
Watches his mother die in his arms with the knowledge if only he could have done something sooner he could have saved her (and this is the moment I think, pivotally, that his capacity for the dark side becomes real. Not the moment when he kills the Tuscans in anger just after. But in this quiet moment of death. The moment that voice in his head starts burrowing like a worm "Not enough, more, better, faster, stronger". If he could just burn hotter, brighter, push harder, then no one else would die.)
Is thrust into a war at 19
Is entrusted with a 14 year old apprentice at 20. Loves her like family only to watch the order he gave up everything for, the order that let his mother die, the order that is the reason he cannot have a normal life with his wife, drive his little sister away from him.
Plagued to madness by visions of his wife dying. Goes insane to try to save her only to be her own downfall. Is cut into pieces and left to burn alive by his brother. Suffers excruciating pain being pieced back together. Is forced to live with the knowledge that he led to the love of his life's death, where every breath is a reminder of the monster he has become.
Becomes increasingly aware that his new master, the only person he has left, the person he betrayed everyone for, the person he trusted in his times of need and thought understood him, would toss him away without a second thought and replace him with Luke.
That smile when he takes off the mask and looks at Luke in Return of the Jedi means so much. It's so pure, and light and carefree for those few seconds. The first time we've ever seen him truly at peace. He is finally free from the pain.
#I would gnaw off my own arm to see more of force ghost Anakin just chilling and being happy#Can we get a light-hearted spin off of force ghost Anakin please#He's just tinkering around with ghostly spare parts and building things look I don't know how this works but he deserves that afterlife#human disaster anakin#star wars#star wars prequels#return of the jedi#original trilogy#anakin skywalker#darth vader#anakin angst#right in the feels

Fun starwars fic idea;
Countless years after the rise of the empire (the exact number and thus the cast of characters around up to you) an old tablet that used to belong to a clone commander is found. Curious as to what's was on its camera, the finder ends up slowly posting the cache of data online, including the many messages and videos stored on it -- both filmed on it and from the GAR chats it's still connected to.
TLDR; social media fic revolving around the general galaxy reacting to old messages, videos and pictures documenting the daily lives of the clone army, who ofc propaganda has painted to be emotionless droids, the very picture of obedience.
Sprinkle in some fun inside jokes, clone culture, jedi positive relationships and funny GAR pranks and memes, and decades after these brave men were alive, they finally seem to be getting their due.
(And some are left wondering just how exactly it all went so wrong)
Im thinking especially hard about internet sleuths drawing lines between the clones and later reports of where they were the day of the jedi purge. How these videos show Bly's near legendary simping for his Aayla, or Cody and Obi-Wan's pet names and undying loyalty to eachother and how the clones love their jedi and they love them back just as strongly -- only for reports to show the very same killing their loved ones.
I just love a good outsiders POV is all honestly. And I love the idea of not only civilians watching but also stormtroopers too -- who've specifically been taught taught and held up to the supposed standards of perfect obedience that the clones upheld. Depending on what year this is in to, you could have the few surviving clones or jedi seeing these videos and just. Painfully reminiscing.
Imagine someone of the public recognizing a specific clone from the videos, now so much older and possibly still chipped, and the internet just EXPLODING. Or the sudden jedi positive feels and clone/jedi shippers as they watch them be all dumb and domestic between fighting for eachothers lives. The online personality "what clone are you" quizzes and the online Aayla Secura fanclub where their front page declares Bly the founder and OG simp.
Just. Having so many thoughts
