Sunrisers Hyderabad made the highest score of 287/3 in IPL 17, but in the final SHR scored just 113 runs. Hyderabad team could not even play the entire over against Kolkata Knight Riders and were limited to 18.3 overs.
Tumblr media
IPL 17 was played in MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. After won the toss, Cummins decided to take batting first, but SRH could score only 40/3 in the powerplay. The team had to bear the brunt of this poor start and could not give a big target to KKR. Russell took 3 wickets and Starc and Harshit took 2–2 wickets.

DAY 5943
Jalsa, Mumbai May 26, 2024 Sun 11:18 PM
🪔 ,
May 27 .. birthday greetings to Ef Bhanu Kumar Bilala .. 🙏🏻🚩❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
एक और संडे निकल गया , आशाएँ जो मन को डराती थीं दूर हो गयीं , प्यार आदर समर्पण मेरा सदा आप सब के प्रति । इससे बड़ी उपलब्धि मेरे लिये नहीं ।
🙏
... and here on this lit desk of mine , with thoughts that contemplate what needs to be expressed here and in what dimension and contextual content .. I sit .. at times a gaze on the clock, at times on the reflection on the day passed .. and at times just listening to a creative .. and the immediate visualisation of a cinematic representation, if at all it were to see the light of day ..
Happens so often .. an immediate putting of yourself in a situation which you have devised and associated with the sounds of the tone trunk and tenor of the music ..
There is dislike towards the idea of putting the self in the creativity of an event, a product, a campaign .. as has been expressed often enough here and several other states - the barricaded wall towards the I ME MINE syndrome ..
Many that make such consider it a moment of great sale value ..
Could be for them .. do it if you want to ..
But doing it with me , for me , from me ,does not .. repeat, DOES NOT have compliance ..
Never catered to it and never subscribed to it either .. you or any other brings joy to you .. do it without my participation .. that is a independent right .. you have an opinion, a criticism, laudatory or otherwise , a documented record not contributed by me - fine ..
But my participation in the exercise is uncomfortable for me ..
"Abhorrence towards self-aggrandizement stems from the distaste for excessive self-promotion and narcissism. Society values humility and teamwork, viewing self-aggrandizing behavior as a sign of insecurity and a lack of genuine accomplishment. This disdain is rooted in the belief that true success and worth are recognized through actions and contributions rather than boastful proclamations. Individuals who excessively promote themselves often alienate others, undermining trust and collaboration. The collective preference for modesty and authenticity over self-serving arrogance fosters a more cohesive and respectful community, where achievements are celebrated for their intrinsic value rather than the loudness of their declaration."
... and I glance through the pages of one that has corresponded with Babuji and has , with the collection of his letters, brought out a book ..
one such letter, Babuji's content text says :
Tumblr media
.. he that writes a complicated mind set, does not give a suitable proof of the purity of the writing .. 'why' did Tulsidas write the Ramayan, 'how' did he write it , could be the subject of dissertation among some of the learned intellectual beings .. most of the people just know that Tulsidas wrote the Ramayan .. when there is no deeper thought on 'what' .. then to beat the drum on the 'why' and the 'how' does not clarify or contribute to any meaning ..
It is a response to a letter by someone that has been brought to his notice, and asked him why he does not refute these insincere and absolutely wrong impressions that people have expressed towards his works - in particular 'Madhushala', - which the letter writer complains, is a propagation and a promotion for alcoholism !
मेरे पास सीमित-शक्ति है । मूर्खताओं को उत्तर दूँ या किसी रचनात्मक कार्य में लगाऊँ
I have limited time and strengths .. do I spend my time replying and responding to foolish idiots, or putting my efforts in use towards more creative cognitive work ..
And here endeth the lesson for the day ..
The IPL Final is over and KKR have WON a most convincing victory .. SRH were simply outplayed .. disappointing in many ways becuse SRH is a good team and one has seen their very grand performances over the days when they played other matches ..
But what was most touching to observe was the pretty young lady , .. the owner of SRH, in the Stadium, get emotional after the loss and break into tears, turning her face away from the cameras, so as not to display her emotion .. I felt bad for her !!
Never mind .. tomorrow is another day .. my dear !!
Indeed .. to quote that famous line from the film 'Gone with the Wind' when the character of Rhett Butler, played by the great Clark Gable turns away from his lady love Scarlett O' Hara, played by the inimitable Vivien Leigh, in the climax and leaves saying :
" Frankly .. I couldn't give a damn ..!!
and she responds as he walks away :
'.. i'll get him back .. after all tomorrow is another day .. '
YES yes , yes ..
to all that fail .. do not give up .. for ..
'tomorrow is another day ...
My love .. ❤️

are we in the realm of september bachelor route thuthers or is 2024 patho winning again as a theory?
no idea. tbh anyone waiting with baited breath for this game is setting themselves up for disappointment. i mean it took like what 6 or 7 years for us to get the physical backer rewards? based on IPL's previous track record it always gets done eventually, no matter how long it takes. the 5 months of little "ARG" posts have been interesting I guess but realistically I have no idea what's going on there. it's best to put this in the back of your mind so when there's finally an update the most you can feel is pleasant surprise. that's how i've always approached it anyway

Jos is any day a better T20 batsman than VK. VK has got more records, but the impact Jos has is unparalleled
HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry but
HAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣
I'm curious, what exactly is considered "impact"? How about being the highest run-scorer of 2 T20 World Cups? How about being the player of the tournament in consecutive T20 World Cups? Virat did that. You know what else he did? India played 6 knockout matches between 2014 and 2024. Virat has made a half century or more than that in 5 out of those 6 matches. That's just shy of 400 runs in 6 matches. It makes his average in T20 WC knockout matches over 90. If that's not impactful, I don't know what is.
Is impact related to strike rate? Virat scored 70 off 29 against West Indies, 94 in some 50 odd balls against WI, and his century against Afghanistan came in 52 balls. The first knock has a strike rate of over 200. Virat chased down 48 off the last 3 overs against Pakistan at the MCG in 2022 and 39 off the last 3 overs against Australia at Mohali in 2016. The latter was a virtual quarter final, and Virat's knock guaranteed India's progress to the semi finals.
Is impact related to hitting sixes? Well, for all that Jos is a renowned six-hitter, it was Virat's six against Haris Rauf at the MCG was declared the shot of the century by ICC. An equation that read 28 off 8 became 16 off 6. It was Virat who hit the two sixes that were required to get it down till here.
Virat has time and again won matches out of nowhere for India. The Mohali 82 against Australia, the MCG 82 against Pakistan, the 72 in 2014 SFs vs South Africa, I can go on and on here-- Heck, Virat was most of the, if not the sole reason that India got as far as they did in the 2014, 2016 and 2022 editions of the T20 World Cup. He is a massively impactful player, who delivers whenever needed. Even yesterday's final, take Virat's 76 out of the equation and we had only a 100 on the board to defend. I doubt even Jasprit could have done much with that.
Virat ended his career in T20s as unquestionably the best T20 player of this generation. Nobody comes close to having the kind of impact he does on the game. He carried India in almost every single T20 World Cup he played, and nobody deserved to lift that trophy as much as he did.
I did not intend this as an insult to Jos. He is a great player, one of the very best to have played the game, but he's not better than Virat. Nope, sorry, he isn't. And it isn't limited to Jos either. There isn't any player in the world, not Rohit, not Warner, not Babar, not Maxwell, no nobody in this generation comes close to having the kind of class, poise and impact of Kohli in T20s.
People are allowed differing opinions - sure, the stats say Virat but in terms of coming in when the team needs and changing the game momentum Jos is one of the best at having an impact
Numbers aren’t always everything, I think is the point the original ask was making. And honestly, looking at the tournament that just concluded, VK really only made an impact in the final, whilst Jos was a lynchpin to a lot of England’s batting innings.
Not saying you’re wrong and - as I said - everyone has opinions and it’s great they’re different because it allows us to discuss thing :) But I think the original ask was talking more about match impact than stats. There is a reason he was RR’s impact batsman for the IPL this year.

[ad_1] Harshit Rana for India against England (Image: BCCI) They say ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.’ But what if life gives you a white ball and asks you to bowl at one of the most destructive batting line ups in the world when it comes to the shortest format of the game? 2024 has been a roller coaster year for Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana. With Gautam Gambhir taking over the reins of Kolkata Knight Riders as mentor in 2024, Harshit came into his own. KKR faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in the third match of IPL 2024. It was a cliffhanger, with SRH needing 13 runs off the final over. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer tossed the ball to Harshit & told him ‘now is the chance to become a hero, take it.’ And boy did he grab it with both hands! The set Heinrich Klassen tonked him for a six off the very first ball of the over. Harshit did not flinch under pressure. He sent back Shabhaz Ahmed off the third ball & eventually got the better of Klassen with the penultimate ball of the over to give KKR a four run win. Harshit continued to shine throughout the tournament picking up 19 wickets in the 13 matches that he played, missing one match due to suspension. That, of course, is a story for another day. With the GG era being ushered in Indian cricket immediately after the IPL, Harshit Rana was picked as a trump card for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Eyebrows were raised, questions were asked with many labelling the selection as ‘GG or KKR quota.’ But there are reasons why social media doesn’t get to pick the Indian team & the responsibility lies with the selection committee, the coach and the captain of the team. Harshit debuted in favourable seaming conditions in Perth & played a strong hand in India’s only win of the series. With Jasprit Bumrah breathing fire at one end, Harshit played the perfect second fiddle, validating his selection. India played by the rules. Blame match referee for using his discretion on conclusion sub. It’s not the first time teams have benefited from loopholes in the rules. England did in 2019.@BoriaMajumdar writes.@BCCI#INDvENG #HarshitRana https://t.co/XW0N8zaAkN — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) February 1, 2025   Travis Head, who would go on to torment India later in the series, was removed in the first innings by an absolute peach by Harshit. The 22 year-old debutant bowled a jaffa that angled in & straightened off the seam, beating Head’s defence & castling him. Harshit bowled with heart & fire, with his KKR teammate Mitchell Starc exclaiming ‘I bowl faster than you Harshit’ after being beaten for pace against his former teammate. With the debutant exceeding expectations, he was trusted with the pink ball in the next Test as well. But the honeymoon phase was over, it seemed. The same Head tore into him, dispatching him all around the ground. The lack of experience showed & Harshit quickly ran out of ideas, turning out to be expensive & lost. He was dropped for the rest of the series, with the more experienced Akash Deep & Prasidh Krishna making the cut & arguably so. However, Harshit remained in contention & was picked for the 5 match T20I series against England at home. But who are your frontline seamers? Ofcourse, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, with Hardik Pandya sharing the new ball & playing the second/third seamer appreciably. But again, life decided to hand Harshit lemons in the fourth T20I in Pune. Shivam Dube went hammer and tongs against England before being hit on the head in the last over. The concussion sub rule was evoked with Harshit himself admitting post match that he was asked to don the Indian jersey & take the field within 5 minutes. Harshit did not disappoint, showing that this new look Indian T20 side post the Ro-Ko era is adapt to international challenges better than any team in the world right now. Harshit bowled beautifully under lights, picking up the important wickets of Liam Livingstone (the man who turned it around for England in the last match) & Jacob Bethell.
Harshit returned in the penultimate over with Overton and Rashid at the crease, and the match still very much in the balance. A repeat of that IPL match against SRH followed (well almost), with Overton tonking him for a four off the first ball of the over. Harshit kept his calm, went back to his bowling mark & delivered one good ball after the other. A mix-up between Samson and Chakravarthy denied him a well-deserved wicket off the third ball of the over, but finally, he managed to make lemonade despite running out of lemons! Getting rid of Overton with the last ball of the 19th over sealed the deal for India. But will it seal the deal for Harshit in this Indian side? He is very young & has a long way to go. Is he in line for the England tour? The answer should be a yes, not merely because he is delivering under pressure but because of his fighting spirit & never say die attitude. Come the IPL, Harshit Rana will be entrusted with leading the KKR pace battery (remember, there’s no Starc this year), and like always, he will be more than happy to put his hand up. As he wakes up today after a dream debut for India in Tests & now T20Is, maybe Harshit will raise a silent toast to the KKR bowling coach, Bharat Arun, the ‘Chanakya’ of Indian bowling for a long time now. The moment for now, is yours Harshit. Cheers. ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Jasprit Bumrah Ordered Bed Rest as BCCI Blocks His Return
Tumblr media
Champions Trophy 2025: The latest update on Jasprit Bumrah has raised serious concerns about his availability for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He sustained the back spasm after being over bowled in Australia during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Jasprit Bumrah is currently under medical supervision after being advised to take bed rest at home. Following a grueling Test tour of Australia, the Indian pace spearhead returned home last week, but his condition remains alarming due to swelling in his back.

Tumblr media
Jasprit Bumrah under medical supervision, ICC Champions Trophy 2025 participation remains uncertain
Sources revealed that Bumrah is expected to report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. But there is no clarity on when he would visit the Centre of Excellence (CoE), putting his participation in the Champions Trophy 2025 in jeopardy.
However, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to visit the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru next week, but that totally depends on his progress. The sources further revealed that the medical experts have asked Bumrah for rest to allow the swelling to subside so that they would be able to determine the next steps for his recovery and treatment.
For now, the focus remains on ensuring the Indian pacer’s back muscles recover fully and swelling subsides before any further decisions are made regarding his fitness and future plans. However, if there is only swelling, then Bumrah might be available for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Jasprit Bumrah could go to the CoE next week: Report
A source close to the development was quoted as saying by Times of India: “Bumrah could go to the CoE next week, but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised to have bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, the future course of action will be ascertained.”
As Bumrah is currently struggling with back swelling, Team India’s premier pacer won't be rushed back into the action. Given his history of back problems, the BCCI has been warned against rushing him back onto the cricket field.
It is being said that the exact cause of the swelling is still unclear, but if it's more serious than expected, his recovery might take longer, and he could miss the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan and Dubai.

BCCI faces tough decision as Jasprit Bumrah battles back swelling
The source further noted, “Bed rest doesn't sound good. I hope it's not a disc bulge or a muscle swelling that is of a higher grade. The approach has to be similar with him—wrap him in cotton wool and preserve the talent like him.”
So, now the Indian cricket team management and selectors are hoping that Jasprit Bumrah's back issue should be just limited to swelling, as a disc-related problem could further delay his return. With a packed calendar ahead, including the Champions Trophy 2025, IPL 2025, and India's England tour, carefully and patiently managing the Indian pacer’s recovery is crucial.
India is yet to finalize their provisional squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, as the national selectors are waiting for the medical team’s report before taking a call on Bumrah’s inclusion in the 15-member squad. They are hoping to get a clear picture in the next couple of days.

Big Picture: England vs spinEngland would have felt a sense of deja vu when they were skittled for 132 in the T20I series opener in Kolkata on Wednesday. In June 2024, in the T20 World Cup semi-final in Providence, they watched Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel return combined figures of 11-0-58-6. At Eden Gardens, they were trampled by Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel, who had combined figures of 5 for 67 in 12 overs. If the Chepauk pitch veers towards its usual spin-friendly nature - it went the other way at IPL 2024, with fast bowlers taking 74 wickets in 18 innings to the spinners' 25 - England could be in for another trial by spin. India also have other spin options in Washington Sundar (offspinner) and Abhishek Sharma (left-arm orthodox) at their disposal.Under Brendon McCullum in Test cricket, England have countered heavy defeats with their ultra-aggressive style of play. England's white-ball era under McCullum and Jos Buttler might have got off to a rickety start in Kolkata, but the message from the team management remains the same: "Be more aggressive and come back harder."That might be easier said than done against India, who have a new-ball banker in Arshdeep Singh and a middle-overs squeezer in Varun. The likes of Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook will have to adapt quickly and back Buttler up if England are to test the depth of India's attack. On Wednesday, India didn't even need their sixth bowler. They didn't need Nitish Kumar Reddy with the bat either as the top five polished off the chase of 133 inside 13 overs. England, though, will be buoyed by the sharp bursts from Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. After having spent five months on the sidelines, Wood cranked it up to speeds north of 150kph. Besides generating similar high pace and steep bounce, Archer also dipped into his slower cutters for figures of 4-0-21-2. Gus Atkinson, who had a horror outing leaking 38 runs in two overs after struggling to 2 off 13 balls, will make way for Brydon Carse.India WWWLW (Last five completed T20Is, most recent first)England LLWWWIn the spotlight: Varun Chakravarthy and Jamie OvertonVarun Chakravarthy and Chepauk share an incredible love story. Even before playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Varun had started his cricketing career as an IPL net bowler for Chennai Super Kings at the venue in 2018. Six years later, Varun won both the IPL and TNPL here, and he is now set to play his first international game at the ground, in front of his friends and family. He had rated his 3 for 23 at Eden Gardens a humble 7/10. Beware of the perfect ten, England. At 6 feet 5 inches, Jamie Overton is a presence to reckon with for any opposition. He didn't have much to do with bat or ball in the first T20I, but his recent form in the Big Bash League (BBL) is encouraging: he finished unbeaten in seven of his nine innings, striking at 156.55, to go with 11 wickets for Adelaide Strikers. This is his chance to introduce himself to Chepauk before turning out for CSK at IPL 2025.Team news: Will Shami return to action?Mohammed Shami, who is working his way back from ankle and knee issues, had missed the opening T20I. If he is fit and available for selection, India might have to rejig their attack. He was among the first batch of India players to train on Friday evening and, though he had protection on both his knees, he bowled in the nets, with bowling coach Morne Morkel keeping a close eye on him.India (probable): 1 Abhishek Sharma, 2 Sanju Samson (wk), 3 Suryakumar Yadav (capt), 4 Tilak Varma, 5 Hardik Pandya, 6 Rinku Singh, 7 Nitish Kumar Reddy, 8 Axar Patel, 9 Ravi Bishnoi/Mohammed Shami, 10 Arshdeep Singh, 11 Varun ChakravarthyBethell reportedly missed training on Friday with illness and if he doesn't recover in time, wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith could make his T20I debut for England. Smith had a stint with the gloves too on a humid afternoon. Carse, meanwhile, is set to replace Atkinson.England (probable): 1 Phil Salt (wk), 2 Ben Duckett, 3 Jos Buttler (capt), 4 Harry Brook, 5 Liam Livingstone, 6 Jacob Bethell/Jamie Smith, 7 Jamie Overton, 8 Brydon Carse, 9 Jofra Archer, 10 Adil Rashid, 11 Mark WoodPitch and conditions: Dew could be a factorThe second T20I is set to be played on a fresh, black-soil pitch, and dew could favour chasing in Chennai. Another humid evening awaits both sides on Saturday.Stats and trivia: Arshdeep on the brink of another milestone"He's obviously very experienced in India. He's done exceptionally well in the IPL and whenever he's played for England here. So it's really nice to watch him go out there and go about his business."Harry Brook on his captain Jos Buttler"The plan will be the same [against the England batters] and will see how they're going to approach me and it's all instinctive. Initially you have certain plan for certain batters, but if they're trying to do something different, it will be more instinctive.Varun Chakravarthy on his game plan

Top 3 Centuries By Virat Kohli In The IPL
Tumblr media
Virat Kohli has a legitimate claim to be the best batsman in contemporary cricket. Around the course of his more than ten-year international career, former India captain Virat Kohli has made bowlers' lives miserable all around the world. The batting icon is just the second Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to reach the 25,000-run mark in international cricket, having already amassed over 27,000 runs. With 81 tons under his belt, Kohli is also ranked second among batsmen with the most hundreds in international cricket. He moved up to second position after surpassing Ricky Ponting's record of 71 centuries with a century against Bangladesh in the third ODI in 2022. Out of all the players that are currently playing, Kohli has the most international hundreds. The top slot is occupied by the ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar, who has amassed an incredible 100 international hundreds. Although he has amassed 50 hundreds in the One-Day International format, Virat Kohli has amassed 30 centuries in Test cricket and one hundred in the shortest version of the game.
But the single ton in the T20Is among Virat Kohli total centuries led many people to believe that the stalwart isn’t as good in the shortest format as the other ones. However, when you look at his Indian Premier League (IPL) stats, you’ll find eight centuries just lying around. These centuries go on to show how potent he is in the T20s as well. By the way, he has the most number of centuries in the IPL, just above Jos Buttler who has seven centuries. The 35-year-old has only ever played for RCB, having been a member since the 2008 IPL season. He has amassed a record 8004 runs from 244 innings in the IPL, including 55 half-centuries in addition to the eight tons. He is the IPL's top run scorer with these figures. Despite not being able to guide RCB to an IPL championship in 13 years, Kohli has been one of the most successful hitters in the lucrative competition.
Top IPL Centuries By Virat Kohli
113* vs Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2024
In the IPL 2024 edition, Kohli scored his eighth and most recent century against the Rajasthan Royals. Once more, when he batted first, Kohli was the only one who anchored the innings. Together with Faf du Plessis, he forged a 125-run stand, hitting 113* off 72 balls. During his innings, Kohli smashed 12 fours and four sixes to stay undefeated. Jos Buttler reached 100* off just 58 balls to put the Royals over the finish line in 19.1 overs, but once more, the century did not come in a winning cause.
113 vs Kings XI Punjab, IPL 2016
This is his greatest IPL score to date and the fourth of four hundreds that Kohli recorded in the 2016 season. By virtue of the Duckworth Lewis technique, RCB defeated KXIP by 82 runs thanks to the knock of 50-ball 113, which also kept them in the running for the playoffs. At a strike rate of 226.00, Kohli hit 12 fours and 8 sixes throughout the 113-run innings.
109 vs Gujarat Lions, IPL 2016
One of the most notable partnerships that AB de Villiers and Kohli have forged since joining RCB in 2011 occurred in 2016. In the season's 44th encounter, RCB hosted the now-defunct Gujarat Lions. With five fours and eight sixes, Kohli scored 109 from 55 balls. Up to 112 of the 229 runs in the pair's partnership came in the final five overs. RCB scored 248 runs in all, and the Gujarat squad was dismissed for 104 runs in response.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): A Deep Dive into Their Playoff History
Tumblr media
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most iconic franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite their popularity and star-studded lineups over the years, RCB has had a complicated journey in the IPL. The franchise is known for its explosive performances and dedicated fanbase, but the elusive IPL trophy has remained just out of reach. A common question fans often ask is, "How many times has RCB qualified for the playoffs?" The answer is that RCB has made it to the playoffs nine times as of 2024. However, their performance in the finals has been less than fortunate, as they have reached the finals three times but are yet to win the championship.
RCB’s Journey to the Playoffs: An Overview
RCB has had a roller-coaster history when it comes to qualifying for the IPL playoffs. Despite a strong batting lineup and some of the most iconic players in the IPL, the team has struggled with consistency. Let’s break down their playoff appearances season by season:
2009: After a disappointing start in 2008, RCB found their rhythm in the 2009 season. Anil Kumble led the team to their first playoff and eventually to the final, where they faced the Deccan Chargers. Despite a spirited effort, RCB lost the final. However, this marked the beginning of their journey as one of the top contenders in the IPL.
2010: In the 2010 season, RCB maintained their competitive form and once again reached the playoffs. However, their journey ended in the semi-finals, where they were eliminated by the Mumbai Indians. Although they didn’t make it to the final, RCB proved they were a force to be reckoned with.
2011: The 2011 season was a golden opportunity for RCB. They topped the points table, largely thanks to the power-hitting of Chris Gayle, who was in sensational form. RCB reached the final for the second time but fell short, losing to the Chennai Super Kings. It was another heart-breaking defeat, as they missed out on the trophy despite a stellar season.
2015: After a few seasons of inconsistency, RCB bounced back in 2015, reaching the playoffs again. With Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Mitchell Starc in their ranks, RCB looked strong but were eliminated in the semi-finals by Chennai Super Kings. It was another close call, but the wait for their first title continued.
2016: The 2016 IPL season was RCB’s best chance at clinching their maiden title. Virat Kohli was in sensational form, scoring a record 973 runs with four centuries. RCB reached their third final, but despite being favorites, they were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The loss added to their tally of missed opportunities, as the title continued to evade them.
2020: After a four-year playoff drought, RCB made a comeback in 2020 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Although they had moments of brilliance, they were knocked out in the eliminator by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The season ended in disappointment, but RCB’s return to the playoffs was a positive sign.
2021: RCB secured a playoff spot for the second consecutive year in 2021. With consistent performances throughout the season, hopes were high. However, they were once again eliminated in the eliminator, this time by Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite the loss, RCB showed they were building a consistent, competitive team.
2022: In 2022, RCB made it to the playoffs for the third straight season. They won the eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants but were defeated by Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier. While the wait for an IPL title continued, RCB’s consistency in reaching the playoffs was becoming a hallmark of the team.
2024: In the 2024 IPL season, under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, RCB qualified for the playoffs once again. Although they put up a strong fight, they were unable to make it to the final. With nine playoff appearances, RCB has consistently been among the top teams, but the elusive IPL trophy remains a distant dream.
How Many Times Has RCB Qualified for the Final?
In addition to asking, "How many times has RCB qualified for the playoffs?", another common question is how many times they’ve reached the final. RCB has made it to the IPL final on three occasions: 2009, 2011, and 2016. Unfortunately, RCB has lost all three finals.
2009 Final: RCB’s first final appearance came in 2009, where they faced Deccan Chargers. Despite a strong run to the final, they couldn’t cross the line and finished as runners-up.
2011 Final: RCB was in prime form in 2011, largely due to Chris Gayle’s exceptional performances. They finished at the top of the points table and reached the final. However, Chennai Super Kings outplayed them, handing RCB their second final defeat.
2016 Final: The 2016 season is often remembered for Virat Kohli’s record-breaking run-scoring spree. RCB looked destined to win their first IPL title, but Sunrisers Hyderabad had other plans, defeating them in the final and leaving RCB without a trophy for the third time.
Challenges Faced by RCB in Playoff Matches
RCB’s struggle in the playoffs can be attributed to several factors. Despite having some of the most explosive players in the league, the team has often faltered at crucial moments. Here are some of the challenges RCB has faced in their playoff runs:
Inconsistent Bowling Lineup: One of RCB’s primary weaknesses over the years has been their bowling attack. While their batting, led by stars like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle, has often been their strength, their bowling has lacked consistency, especially in the death overs.
Over-Reliance on Key Players: RCB has frequently relied on individual brilliance to carry them through matches. While players like Kohli and de Villiers have delivered spectacular performances, this dependence has often left the team vulnerable when these stars fail to fire.
Pressure of Knockout Matches: RCB has struggled to handle the pressure in high-stakes knockout matches. Whether it’s nerves or strategic missteps, they have often underperformed in finals and eliminators. Building a mentally resilient team is essential for RCB to go all the way.
What Lies Ahead for RCB?
RCB’s repeated playoff appearances show they are always in the mix, but winning the IPL title remains the ultimate goal. For them to break the jinx and finally claim the trophy, a few key factors will be crucial:
Building a Balanced Squad: RCB needs to focus on assembling a well-rounded team with depth in both batting and bowling. Strengthening their bowling lineup, especially in the death overs, will be critical.
Developing Young Talent: Investing in young players, especially bowlers, will add depth to the team and allow RCB to be more consistent. Nurturing talent will help them avoid over-reliance on a few star players.
Mental Strength in Big Games: RCB’s history in knockout games shows a pattern of faltering under pressure. Addressing this issue and building a mentally resilient squad will increase their chances of finally lifting the IPL trophy.

Conclusion
So, how many times has RCB qualified for the playoffs? The answer is nine times. Despite their numerous playoff appearances, RCB is still in search of their first IPL title. With a strong fan base and a competitive squad, RCB remains one of the most exciting teams in the IPL. As they continue to build and improve, fans hope that the long-awaited IPL title will soon come their way.

SRH vs LSG 2024
SRH vs DC 2024
Srh vs Rcb'24 too. Heady had a sick century there. Actually all of these 3 games are remarkable. In the lsg game, srh broke the record of chasing highest no of runs (166 odd in 9.4 overs, with 10 wickets left). In the Dc one, they made the highest no of runs in powerplay, 125 runs. In the rcb game, they broke their own record of highest no of runs scored in ipl.
I was pretty stoked actually, and got quite sad when they couldn't score against kkr in the playoffs and final. Gurbaz keeping might truly be Head's kryptonite. Nonetheless, it was a pretty good run and I am glad I tuned in to this year's ipl.🤙
oooh hohoho very nice! srh was truly off the shits this year huh

ooooh the idea of jos knowing about yashasvi's crush on shubman is very interesting because they play together till 2024 ipl, and in my mind yashasvi is still in his hating shubman era then. because yashasvi debuts june 2023 vs wi, and even opens alongside shubman in a few matches, crafting fine partnerships along the way... but then he doesn't play any international cricket until january 2024 which is when he plays the 5 match test series vs england. and that's basically his coming-of-age series, the one where he cemented a spot for himself in the playing 11. shubman and yashasvi started interacting during this series, tbh i dont think there's much interaction of them from yash's debut series.
so in my mind shubman didn't really pay much attention to yashasvi in his debut series-- he was busy having other flings, with hardik or with any other random omegas. jan 2024 is when yashasvi really catches his eye and shubman starts flirting with him. but of course yashasvi knows about shubman's habits by now, and always rejects him. it becomes a fun game for shubman to melt yashasvi, to woo him, yashasvi is annoyed with his relentless advances. so in my mind, by the time ipl rocks around, march/april 2024, shubman is pursuing yashasvi and yash is resisting him. so jos becomes the younger omega's rant partner, as yashasvi bitches and complains about shubman to him, like "look at the oversmart messages this dick is sending me." or "when will he get a hint that i'm not interested?" and so on and so forth.
so when jos gets to know yashasvi is dating shubman, he's very surprised because "i thought you hated him!"
ooh so it's kind of like soulmates, with certain omegas having a pull towards certain alphas? like getting a whiff of an alpha's scent and getting drawn to it? i can totally see that happen with yashasvi and shubman.
ooh maybe that's how it happens, yashasvi is on his debut tour, and out of all the scents in the locker room, he latches onto shubman's. like in a room full of scents, shub's is the one that stands out to him. he brushes the feelings off/ignores it because this is his debut series, he doesn't want to focus on anything but cricket. shubman too barely pays much attention to the debutant, being occupied with other omegas. it vexes yashasvi somewhat, but he can't put a finger on the why of things. but until the england series, he and shubman aren't really anything more than acquaintances.
in the england series, yashasvi finally catches shubman's eye and the alpha starts pursuing him. yashasvi is determined to refuse him because he knows how shubman treats his omegas. as shubman refuses to give up, yashasvi finds himself falling for shubman's charm and confidence. he finds himself blushing at every single pick-up line shubman spins. he finds himself actually looking forward to what new plan shubman is cooking up to woo him. but he knows that shubman's attention is not something he can reciprocate because he knows how it will end: yashasvi has no intention of being yet another notch on shubman's bedpost.
during ipl, yash complains to jos about shubman, but jos knows yash well enough to see through him, to realize that yashasvi probably secretly enjoys and is pleased with shubman chasing him, and is kinda sorta playing coy or hard to get.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s a see through him thing; I think he openly tells Jos he likes him. And I actually think this could be something that starts WAY before they actually play together, and when Yash first plays with Jos, he sees the first person he feels like he can be honest with and he latches onto that. Because he can’t talk to Virat about this or any one else he plays with because he’s been so clear on his stance that alphas suck and he’s not interested.
Jos is a blank canvas.
I do like Shub not having a lot of interest in Yash’s debut series - maybe he’s heard Yash is a stuck up omega and he tries but why waste his time trying to break this omega when seventeen others are literally begging for him? But that England series he sees another side of him and he’s hooked.
The soulmates thing is up for debate. Some believe it, some don’t. Example Ben is a MASSIVE believer in the fact there is an omega out there for him, and when he knows he knows. But for someone like Stuart, the idea of being predestined is not something he subscribes to.
Maybe Yash doesn’t believe, but when he catches Shub’s scent on that WI tour he simply cannot stop thinking about him. He calls Jos in a panic about it.

[ad_1] Hardik Pandya in ICC T20 WC 2024 Final (PC: BCCI/X) Hardik Pandya is, and will continue to be, one of India’s go-to white-ball cricketers. He has captained India with success and also done well as skipper in franchise cricket. However, soon after the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, when many felt he would be appointed skipper, the selection committee opted for Suryakumar Yadav. The reason given was Hardik’s fitness being a concern. Unless he was a certainty for all games, it was not a risk worth taking. Surya, to be fair, has done an excellent job as skipper and his handling of Sanju Samson, for example, has helped get the best out of the merfcurial wicketkeeper-batter.  The captaincy isn’t the point anymore. Surya has settled into the job and is doing it well. But what about vice-captaincy? In the T20 side against England, Axar Patel has been named Surya’s deputy. And once more, Pandya has been overlooked. First things first – this is not a reflection on Axar, who has done well for India in the opportunities that he has been given. He could even captain Delhi Capitals in the forthcoming IPL.  But that doesn’t explain why Pandya wasn’t chosen. Are the selectors telling us that Pandya’s dream of leading India is now a thing of the past? If so, why? He is fit and has played a full season of domestic cricket. He could walk into any Indian set-up at the moment. And yet, he isn’t the vice-captain for the England series. While there is plenty of backroom chatter, shouldn’t there be more transparency on the matter? Should the selectors reveal if things are over for Pandya as far as leadership is concerned? It becomes more interesting because he will soon be leading the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Hardik Pandya hitting the winning runs (Credit: @indiancricketteam) Has Indian cricket treated Pandya unfairly? Are there things that we don’t know that aren’t out there in the public domain? Will he ever be given a leadership role again? Does such a snub impact a player’s motivation, or is it something that will not bother him? There is the Sachin Tendulkar example. He was removed from captaincy without even him being informed. And that’s when he said to himself that they could indeed take the captaincy away from him, but none of them could do a thing to his cricket. He went on to score a further 20,000 international runs and over 50 centuries.  Is there a lesson here for Pandya? Should he just seek motivation from this snub and focus on his cricket to prove a point? Will India benefit from such a thing, and would that be a just riposte for what he has been subjected to?  The truth is that Pandya is key to India’s white-ball success. He will have a critical role to play in the Champions Trophy. He played a defining role in the T20 World Cup and could do the same in the all-important Pakistan game in Dubai. To do so, however, he needs to be in the proper mind space. One can only hope that these things which have been taking place on the fringes don’t really impact his focus going forward.  The post Can Hardik Pandya use latest snub to scale even greater heights? appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports.
