TPN Brainrots part 1:
Another TPN manga panel redraw, but this time everyone goes down with me (because it's sad).
Also part one of my 'wonderful' tpn theories and head canons. It'll be long😅. There will be manga spoilers so please, read at your own risk😊.
First character I go through is... Ray.
He is one of the most complicated characters I ever saw (all tpn characters are, tbh). I always thought that people who have photographic memory are so lucky. Ray showed me that it's both a blessing and the curse.
Like in the picture above. You can clearly see that the first 2 kid waving at his direction. It's strange to know that there was a time when the Trio were one of the young kids and not the older ones. My first head canon is that Ray tried to save more kids, not just Emma and Norman when he was younger. When the blond haired boy leaves (first panel) he looks like he is about to cry (also the Trio is around 4 or 6) but when the other kids get 'adopted' Ray keeps his head low most of the frames (I'm convinced that when the second kid left he was already working as Isabella's spy.)
Ray coloration explained:
Purple eyes are self explanatory to me. I started draw him with purple eyes as soon as I found out he is Isabella's son. Purple in the hair and freckles? Well... I'm still very, very convinced that Leslie didn't die (at least not when he left the House). I always think about his situation, like what Norman got into with Lambda. The Ratri-clan is big but they need outsiders, to be soldiers, scientists, etc. And since girls from the Houses can only become Sisters and Moms... maybe some boys can become scientists and soldiers. (I can't believe I'm writing this but think about Andrew🤢... he was 100% not Ratri yet he could become an adult). So by this logic I believe Leslie could grow up too and (because I'm a sucker for happiness) he met Isabella again at some point.
Ray turning away:
On the second frame he is not looking at the girl who is leaving, but to the opposite direction. Why? Notice something else? Yes, Norman is missing too. Gilda has her winter jumper on so I figure Norman got sick again. Ray priorities his friends safety over everything else.
Also notice how Emma and Norman slowly get into the middle of the frame while Mom/Isabella get out of it? Pretty strong metaphor. It's the perfect example of 'Blood related family ≠ real family'. And while I'm a RayEmma shipper (obviously aged up version) I would never forget about Norman. He is as important to Ray as Emma. This Trio sticks together no matter what.
(older manga colouring ⬇️)
Now onto the hearth breaking stuff:
Ray's relationship with Isabella:
This deleted scene with Ray and Ayshe lives rent free in my head. Like there are two people with similar family situations and the one who lived int the middle of nowhere with a demon parent thinks positively about their parent, while the other, who grew up in a comfortable home like space with a human parent, thinks the opposite.
"But to me, she was always a monster"– Ray.
Like ufff... This sentence hits real hard. And it's low-key true from Ray perspective. He studied and read all the books in the House, not because he was interested, but because he had to. Norman is a genius, Emma learns real fast, Ray does everything he can to always get max points on his tests. But he also secretly planning his friends excape. Collects scraps of technology to build the device which makes them able to excape, plans his own 💀 carefully, so no one else will get hurt and on a top of that he is 'spying' for Isabella. Sacrifices people he wanted to protect. I can't imagine that inside panic when he didn't get max scores to that one test. I'm sure he was happy because Norman and Emma got their regular scores, but deep down he felt like he failed.
My head canon here is that Ray always gets nightmares if he is alone or in an unsafe place. And 'thanks' to his perfect memory his nightmares build up from actual memories (like we see that in the Seven Wall Arc). Also he doesn't get sick often but when he does... it's like a memory fuelled fever dream, with hallucinations and etc.
Ray's healing journey starts after the Jailbreak Arc. As soon as Mom is not around anymore, he ever so slowly starts to let down his guard and starts to show more and more emotions. His relationship with Yuugo/Mister is like a greatest archivment in his case. The playful, sarcastic 'arguments' and the way he openly said his opinion on things in front of Yuugo and Lucas. Shows how much he changed and opened up.
Isabella on the other hand... her change of heart and feelings were a mistery almost to the very end. To be honest I hated her most of the time, until the Back to Grace Field Arc. (Older manga colouring again⬇️😅)
Two things in this page which are very important.
1: Ray's guard is up again in no time, when he sees Isabella, while her emotionless mask is cracking. This is the first time we get a little inside of how she really feels about Ray.
2: Flashback of the two most important things that connects them. The song and the way they were forced to sacrifice others to stay alive.
The lullaby is very important, because it's calming and feels very intimate (like a normal parent-child relationship should be).
You also can't convince me otherwise that Ray didn't hummed this lullaby at least once in the B06-32 shelter to help the youngest kids fall asleep.
And now... onto the last picture. Their goodbye.
Saddest part ever! Never forgiving for this decision.
Ray and Isabella were never allowed to talk even two short sentences with each other without any consequences. In the House they had to play their assigned roles. Then they didn't see each other for almost 2 years. Finally they had to save half of the team from getting unalived... And they moment they would have time the last twist happens... leaving us with a sad ending.
Epilogue and Human World Arc...does little to compensate. Although I can't get over the fact that Yuugo's, Conny's and Isabella's 'ghosts' helped Ray found Emma in the Human World.
Speaking of finding Emma. My last head canon for Ray is the following;
When they found out that Emma lost all of her memories from the Demon World. Ray couldn't help himself but whisper a "I wish this happened to me". And everyone looks at him with an understanding smile thinking he blames himself for this... But in reality he really just selfishly thought (only for seconds) that he could forget everything happened on the other side.
Okay. That's all. Sorry for the supper long post and I'm forever thankful if you read through my brainrots 🥰😘. Also let me know if I should cover more characters like this. I'll obviously do Emma and Norman but if there any other characters you want to see please let me know🥰🤩💖.

Giant Crane Fly - Tipula metacomet
In the world of Crane Flies, it is expected that many of them would be sizable, at least when considering the span or their legs. For today's specimen however, she has a trifecta of a long body, long wings and a long reach with her legs! This individual is so large (overall), that she would comfortably fit in my palm for observation. She's so grand in fact, that when I found her, I nearly convinced myself that this insect was a Hangingfly (a type of Scorpionfly). While Crane Flies and Hangingflies can appear similar due to their size and spindly legs, Crane Flies possess only one pair of wings (with balancing halteres in place of a second pair) and their legs are also designed to detach when necessary. Hangingfly legs appear more sturdy and seem better designed to wrap around an object (to hang off of it) rather than perch or grasp like a Fly would, just like this individual is doing along the screen door and its frame. Another possible conclusion is a scary one, as Crane Flies resemble large Mosquitoes! And if a Mosquito would be this large, imagine how much blood she would need for her eggs! As for proper identification of this palm-sized, spindly Crane Fly, the first thing to consider is the size. The next point to examine is the thorax and confirm the presence of black markings. Confirmed, they're there! Following that, the identification markers for this branch of Crane Flies become more complicated (especially the patterned wings)
A closer look of the insect is needed, otherwise this insect could be mistaken for a relative specie, such as another Giant Crane Fly like T. abdominals. Still a giant, but the wrong giant, and there are only 2 in North America. I nearly labelled this find as the latter specie, but comparing the legs of both Flies held the key! The latter specie has pale markings just before and after the tibia joint on each of its six legs! T. metacomet meanwhile has uniformly colored dark legs, and also has a solid color on the first segment of its abdomen. A glimpse of it can be seen in the small gap above where the folded wings rest. While the brownish color may seem somewhat drab, a bright yellow decorates the middle section of the abdomen. You can see a little of that color through the wings, but you'll be able to see the color in full when this insect is in flight, trying to dash towards the light on the other side of the screen door. You may have some luck drawing them to lights during their nocturnal flights. They can have multiple generations over a year, so the timeframe to find them is wide, but remember not to intimidated by their size when they swoop in. Be startled maybe, but never intimidated. Finally, as you observe, take note of the abdomen's tip. If you see a spiked end - like today's find - you have a female specimen. Males have a rear appendage akin to a tri-clasper, and they also tend to be smaller than the females.
Pictures were taken on September 16, 2024 with a Google Pixel 4. Seeing this large, beautifully-winged specimen so close to autumn has gotten me nostalgic suddenly for Spring Fishflies, another insect (of an entirely different insect order) that seems intimidating at first, but is actually harmless.

Okay so to add to this post from yesterday:
I’m writing this right after posting that one so if somebody reblogs with something similar to this I promise I did not see it before writing this. I just wanted my full on fix it and this is how I managed to forcefully make it happen:
What if, just like in the book, the tributes didn’t have a bloodbath? If you wanna be very optimistic, what if none of the tributes had died yet but had been brought closer by the… unusual events surrounding their stay, and were just a little bit less enthused about the idea of killing each other? We’re ignoring the rabies. The tributes got close enough fast enough for them to save Reaper from getting bitten or that stupid bat was knocked out by slamming into the shaking sides of the cattle car before it could bite Jessup.
We all know Gaul’s a murderous piece of never before seen insanity, and it’s pretty clear (to me at least) that she was simply looking for an excuse to release the snakes. Well, what if she was just the teensiest bit too excited about that? When nobody has died in over a day because everyone is actively avoiding conflict (maybe Treech pulled a Peeta and convinced the pack to wait with attacking Lamina or something to piss Gaul off even further) she goes on the big screen to tell people she’ll nobly make sure the districts receive their punishment no matter how hard they try to rebel and sicks the snakes on them. Joke’s on her! They’re not stupid and once one person gets to higher ground everybody else follows. The tank is placed somewhere on flat ground so Lamina gets to stay on her beam and maybe Treech joins her so they can reconcile. Some older kids grab the younger ones to get the heck out of dodge so everyone’s in a safe spot.
As in my previous post, none of the tributes can be reached. Therefore, the snakes decide to get their share of flesh from the next closest thing: the peacekeepers. They don’t even have a chance to call for help, and there are no cameras that film their deaths so nobody even realizes nobody’s guarding the arena until it’s too late. Again, the cold night kills all of the snakes and provides the time frame that ends up causing the utter embarrassment to the Capitol that is the 10th Hunger Games.
This time, it’s Circ and Teslee, even the smart cookies, who notice the snakes all on the hunt towards the same spot and investigate. They immediately run back with their findings and the tributes spread the word from person to person in minutes. All strategizing is done in the cameras’ blindspots in a soft enough tone to not be caught by the microphones. Lamina hears that the only obstacle left is the lock when she “trades” with Reaper to buy everyone time and suggests going to Treech, since he knows how to pick locks. Teslee and Circ point out the camera near the entrance, so they decide that it’s better to be safe than sorry here and come up with a plan.
After some back and forth, Lucy Gray brings up that the games are all for entertainment, which gives Coral an idea (coralbaird alarm coralbaird alarm they are chaos gremlins). What if they have a few tributes fight? That would draw attention towards the fight and away from the entrance. They’ll do it early to prevent anyone from realizing the guards are dead. A few others will signal towards the cameras to try and convince their mentors to send supplies so they have some time to find a hideout and plan before food and water become pressing issues.
Panlo volunteers to be part of the fight, since his mentor is a dickhead. The chances of Gaius sending him anything substantial are so low they’re kissing the earth’s core. Reaper also volunteers, and Treech tries to before he’s reminded that he’s supposed to be picking the lock. So he instead volunteers to stay last with Lucy Gray since they had the most donations. Clearly the audience loves them, so they’ll perform together while everyone else gets out and then slip out of sight from the cameras. Teslee and Circ will hack the cameras from the outside and move them subtly while the distractions are happening so that the blind spots are big enough for the tributes to manoeuvre past. Wovey and Bobbin leave during the night, knowing their mentors won’t send them much. Someone needs to make sure that possible replacement guards don’t foil the plan by taking them out if necessary. They have the dead guards’ guns and no peacekeeper would expect to be shot, especially not from the outside of the arena.
In the end, it’s Panlo vs Reaper vs Sabyn vs Facet. None of them had mentors great enough to be likely to send food, but they’re all strong enough for a drawn out free for all fight without casualties to be believable. Once Treech whistles out the signal that he’s picked the lock successfully, they start retreating from the fight one by one, making it look like they just narrowly dodged a lethal blow and decided to cut their losses. The tributes collect their gifts and high tail it out of the arena while Lucy Gray and Treech “get stuck” conveniently close to a microphone. This is done by Coral acting out the angry Bad Guy she’d forced herself into once they entered the arena. Treech acts the meek spineless coward and books it away from the pack, who give chase just slow enough to believably lose track of him in the tunnels and give up. He meets Lucy Gray at the agreed upon location, one on each side of a door with a microphone above it. What a coincidence! And at a time where Jessup is outside to collect gifts too!
Lucy Gray makes just enough noise to pass as accidental while still being audible for both the mic and Treech, who says hello and sardonically asks her where her partner is. She replies that he should come in and check, to which he replies he’s not ready to get his skull bashed in quite yet. Then they talk. They share stories and sing together, both showing a more human side to the tributes while also expertly stalling for time by drawing attention. They’re performers, they understand what to do without needing to discuss it.
The last person to leave aside from them, Marcus, (because he gave the camera district 2 signs so Sejanus knows what’s up and waited for his mentor to empty out as much of his funds as possible without being suspicious) taps out the agreed upon signal with his footsteps, making sure they echo loud enough for the two to overhear, before getting out too. Treech swiftly ends the conversation by stating that he should probably get a move on before someone finds him. He perfectly acts out a teenager getting everything off his mind to someone he thinks he may never talk to again, complimenting Lucy Gray and wishing her luck. She does the same, and they part ways. Treech is surprised to find that Vipsania sent him quite a bit of food and water once he made it back to the main part of the arena, but he’s not complaining. Lucy Gray follows after him with enough time between their departures to be believable for two people who are supposed to be scared of each other.
And that’s that. All of them are out, regrouping outside of the gates and escaping the scene swiftly. It’s only the next day that anyone bothers to check out the lack of action, only to find the snakes’ rainbow venom pouring out of the guards’ corpses in front of a long empty amphitheater. Surprisingly, most mentors aren’t all that upset at losing their chance to win the Plinth Prize, which is now given out like it was in previous years. Secretly, they’re glad their tribute escaped alive, though they’ll never say that out loud.
Nor will a few of them explain why they suddenly go on a trip to the districts every now and again. Or why Gaul’s lab blew up with her inside it once the horrific symptoms of her snakes’ venom was released to the public.
Guess we’ll never know how that happened :)

So glad to be back! And thank you 🥹 had lots of fun with this request!
Chubformers drabble #90!
Character: First Aid
Word count: 786
The most important thing about working in such a fast paced environment was always to keep his helm level, but lately, First Aid was starting to cause some issues… and it wasn’t even his fault.
Sneaking between a Decepticon gestalt for his beloved helicopter and back to the medibay where he would work for hours on end and snack between the minutes was doing awful things for his frame, as Ratchet so kindly put it. Bedding with a Con was one thing, and slacking on the job was another, but distracting the patients while they were in the middle of their shifts was the dealbreaker.
First Aid couldn’t believe it. He just couldn’t believe it. How the hell was he supposed to control what did and didn’t bring bots into their medibay?
The way he saw it, Ratchet was just jealous. It wasn’t exactly a good look for the CMO, but First Aid could understand. After all, it was impossible not to be jealous when nearly every patient who staggered through the doors with supposed life-threatening injuries had enough energy in them to stop and state that it was First Aid they wanted to see and not Ratchet.
At first, the soon-to-be-CMO had thought it was his empathy and bleeding compassion that affected his work so positively. He was down to earth, understanding, a bit snarky but hardly not as prickly as his mentor… what was there not to love?
However, lively conversations between welds and concerned tones explaining detailed step-by-step instructions to delirious patients seemed to have little to do with everyone’s sudden enamored state. The more patients he saw, the more annoyed First Aid got with bots brushing off his words to instant stare at his chest as he put them back together.
It was all so embarrassing! Here he was, thinking he’d finally proven himself to the ship, only to have them brush aside his careful orders before coming back into the medibay days later for similar ailments. First Aid was practically convinced it was some sort of prank the ship had gathered together to pull on him, but even he wasn’t popular enough for something like that.
The explanation was upsetting, if not reasonable, and he was willing to put it to rest and get on with his life until Ratchet brought it to attention—and Primus, was he embarrassed.
“I’m not about to tell you what you can and can’t do in your free time,” his mentor had said, busying himself with cleaning tools and sorting datapads and wiping down tables at the end of the day. “But, ah…”
“But what?” First Aid pressed. If this was about his visits to Vortex…
“It’s just—you’re…” Ratchet groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Oh, how the hell do I put this? I’ve been getting some complaints from Ultra Magnus about you, er… distracting our patients.”
“Um,” First Aid’s visor narrowed. “What?”
Apparently that had been the wrong thing to ask, as Ratchet’s face had gone three full shades darker than it already was. First Aid’s… well, his assets, as his mentor so eloquently put it, were causing quite the stir amongst the ship as of late. Given that most of his time was spent tending to patients in the medibay, it seemed obvious that most of the bots curious for a few extra peeks would come looking at the source.
“So what,” First Aid finally said. “We’ve got a bunch of horny mechs aboard the ship. That’s not anything new, is it?”
He supposed he couldn’t blame them. Most medics were known for their allure, after all… it’s what had gotten Vortex so caught up with him in the first place. Still, to think the only thing drawing the crowds in for his care was the jiggle of his aft as he walked or the way his belly squished against the side of the table during examinations was a little disappointing.
There was only one thing to do, and that was to make the most of it. Complaints be damned, First Aid was happy with the extra attention. It meant he and Vortex were doing something right, at least, and if mechs wanted to come in and ogle his soft, pudgy frame while he worked… so be it.
He had all the time in the world, and he wasn’t about to stop snacking on shifts or sneaking off to visit his Con anytime soon.
“Well, by all means,” he said, a shy smile lighting up his face beneath the mask. He gently rubbed at the swell of his belly protruding from the seams of his metal, and he could’ve sworn Ratchet’s face flushed even deeper. “I say let them look.”

Gosh, the sister Kiri and reader was really beautifull🥹 you writing is also beautifull too! I would love to see a part 2 of the sisters bond, have a beautifull day!😚
kiri x avatar!sister!reader
Part One
I love the thought of Kiri and Reader's relationship. I like to think it is rooted in something deep, something to do with both sisters connection to Eywa. But I'll rant about it later~ For now enjoy part 2!
Kiri took to breaking your shell slowly in the beginning. She could sympathize and understand why you were reserved. It was heartbreaking and strange, waking up 15 years out of a coma without a mother. Jake fathered you in an instance, but you were convinced it was out of pity and shame from what happened all those years ago. And so you walked on eggshells around him and his family.
You felt the weight of your situation some days, it weighed so heavy you would weep for hours. Then the days would come where an odd icy feeling of nothingness filled your veins.
Because as far as you were concerned, you were an orphan. Never knew your father, ripped away from your mother. Though you were physically na'vi, you'd still felt deep in your heart you were nothing but a dreamwalker, still human. A stray that they took pity on. Kiri knew how you felt, and she made it her mission to dispel those thoughts.
When family meals took place she'd draw you into the conversation, she tried bridging the gap between her brothers and you. Tried to get you back into hunting.
Slowly with each day you were adapting, learning how to live this new life given to you.
And just as much as you loved the loudness of it all. There were moments such as today where it filled your heart with peace.
Before her knucklehead brothers could get into their own mischief, Kiri took you by hand to explore the deeper parts of the forest. The parts where it felt as though you were close to Pandora’s heart, where Eywa breathed. You feel the slight hum in your bones as you two push aside dangling vines, looming plant leaves.
As your feet move with a newfound nimbleness and fearlessness across a long moss-covered trunk. And as you weave between greenery you can feel it more in your bones.
Your hands wistfully caress every plant. The gentle tickling of wriggling pink plants latches for a moment before letting you g. Your eyes lingered on the sky above to the point of Kiri intervening and tugging you along. The both of you push aside the foliage.
Then it's quiet.
The sun kisses your cheeks and fills your body with a warmth unlike any campfire or hug.
She takes you by hand to the soft grass illuminated by the sun's warm afternoon glow. When you sit on the grass Kiri gets to work. Her sack hits the ground and she begins opening jars that nearly make you flinch away when she massages them into your scalp.
Salves of odd murky colors but smelled flowery. She massages it into both her palms and massage it gently into your hair. She's gentle because she can remember in one of mom's logs where you refused to come because she was too rough.
Her fingers are quick and nimble, taking down your dark locks and braiding them back in place. She weaves glass beads as well, you keep yourself busy helping her braid off ends effortlessly.
"There was this video of mom," Kiri breaks the silence gently just as her fingers plait and weave in a similar manner, "where she was talking about how she had to wrestle you just to get your hair into a few braids." She giggles silently and you do as well.
"She said you hid in one of the link chambers-"
"Because I would rather get swallowed by a thanator than let her put her fingers into my hair" you wistfully finish. "Mom was good, I was just sensitive."
You prefer your hair braided to Neytiri, but Kiri likes her hair in one long braid. You beg her to let you braid it differently each day and sometimes if you're lucky you braid two free stands to frame her face, or braid wefts of bright colored thread into her braid.
When you're finished you eye each others work in the crystal blue pond. When you're both satisfied you both end up lying on your sides facing one another. Your arms forma comfortable nook for you to lie your head in as Kiri runs her hands gently over the fresh braids, massaging your scalp.
"Why do you think great mother brought me back" you whisper, sleep sits heavy in the slight slur to your words and the droopiness in your eyes which fight to stay open.
Kiri's soothing pauses as she lets her fingers linger at the apple of your cheek.
Kiri wondered too. You should be in your late twenties, preparing for your thirties, but here you are just barely a teen. "I think she knows what is to come and she needed you here."
You hum and close your eyes. The breeze tosses your hair and sends chills up your spine and neck. You scoot yourself closer to Kiri, closing your eyes completely.
She throws an arm over you protecting you from the cool breeze. Kiri's arms feel like home. And as you lie there in your sisters arms, surrounded by the Great Mother, you realize you are home.

A Post-HOFAS reading of Nesta Scrying for the Mask in ACOSF
One of my favorite scenes in ACOSF is when Nesta scrys for the Mask.
(HOFAS spoilers after the break)
From the first time I read this amazing scene, I immediately recognized all the callbacks to the scene in ACOWAR when she scryed for the Cauldron during the war against Hybern.
She made no move to close her eyes. “I—am I to … touch it?” “No,” Amren warned. “Just come close. Find it, but do not interact.” Nesta still didn’t move. She could not use the bathtub, she’d told me. Because the memories it dragged up— Cassian said to her, “Nothing can harm you here.” He sucked in a breath, groaning softly, and rose to his feet. Azriel tried to stop him, but Cassian brushed him off and strode for my sister’s side. He braced a hand on the desk when he at last stopped. “Nothing can harm you,” he repeated. Nesta was still looking at him when she finally shut her eyes.
—ACOWAR, ch. 62
Cassian’s warmth seeped into her side, his wings rustling near her back. She let that warmth, the rustle anchor her. He had come to save her from her nightmare, had stayed with her while she slept. Had guarded and fought for her. He would let no harm come to her now. No harm No harm No harm
—ACOSF, ch. 31
Cassian, her mate, is her anchor and way back when she descends into her power and its connection to the Cauldron-Made Mask, just like he was the reason she found the courage to scry for the Cauldron in ACOWAR.
And now, after reading HOFAS, I noticed new details in the ACOSF scrying scene that take on new meaning.
The magic when Nesta scrys resembles that of the Mystics in Midgard. The room gets cold (though in ACOSF Azriel does note with alarm that didn't happen when Nesta scryed for the Cauldron in the war against Hybern—so we are left to wonder what is different this time?). And the person using their power is focusing their magic into a question they need an answer to. Scrying in Prythian seems limited to locational questions, while I think the Mystics are sometimes asked questions that aren't framed as "Where is X?" And yet, the way they find answers seems to be locational too—their minds travel to someplace to seek an answer to the question asked. I have encountered predictions that Elain's Seer power may turn out to work similarly to the Mystics, but from the little we saw of it in action in ACOWAR, I'm no longer convinced the descriptions of how these kinds of magic operate seem to align—Nesta's scrying magic is way more similar, to me anyway.
Cassian's kiss given to Nesta to pull her out of the scrying, because she's used "the essence of the Cauldron" (‼️) to create an impenetrable wall around her mind to protect her loved ones...his kiss reminds me of Bryce and Hunt sharing their powers with each other in HOFAS when they have sex as mates. These scenarios aren't identical per say, but Cassian uses the power in his Siphons to send bites of power into her palm to draw her silver fired attention to him. Then he kisses her, and besides being so 👏🏻 sexy 👏🏻, after the kiss this exchange happens in mindspeak with Rhys:
(Kindle isn't letting me copy/paste anymore text from ACOSF 😏)
Something about Cassian warming the entire room while kissing Nesta to bring her out of the scrying has me thinking "Mate Magic Meld" a la Quinlar (but on a much smaller scale perhaps because they haven't both accepted the bond at this point), which is so freaking cool.
Whether it turns out to be simply a literary parallel or actually pointing to the same magical phenomenon on different scales, either way it's still cool to me, especially given how in both mate relationships, one of them is the anchor for the other to always "come back home" when descending into powerful magic that runs the risk of consuming the wielder. (This is again similar to the Feysand mating bond being Feyre's way back to life—and Rhys—at the end of ACOTAR when she dies.)
I'm sure there are even more amazing details from this Mask scrying scene that will blow our minds someday after we get to read the next ACOTAR book, which is when I expect Nesta's powers that she stole from the Cauldron, then was gifted to keep by the Mother, to be explained to us even more.
But for now I wanted to record what I noticed this time around rereading my favorite book—the mate trope as a romantic trope is cool, but mating bond magic sharing is the coolest. 🥰

Clara/the Changeling and Daniil have possibly my favorite dynamic in all of Patho. Just the setup of Daniil being a doctor bound to stop the plague and the Changeling being he plague herself is unmatched to me. Especially because the Changeling often refers to herself as Death, so Daniil/Clara interactions are like Daniil having to deal with death itself, in a way. I think the game does play with this a little, such as Clara imploring that Daniil catch her ‘sister’ because “She’s scared of you! She knows you’ve already almost killed her...” It is delightful to me. I think my absolute favorite is when Grace tells Daniil that Clara’s going “To fool the doctor. Said the doctor’s not so smart... That she fooled everyone and she’s going to fool him too. Turn his needles into hooks so he won’t prick her hands.” I love the imagery of the Changeling manipulating his instruments into her own. Like needles and hooks are what Daniil and Clara use to literally and figuratively get under people’s skin and decipher what’s going on with said person in their quests.
I also adore when Clara characterises Daniil’s ‘role’ in the game—in the Bachelor Route she says, “As you can see, you’ve fit into it perfectly. Bravo! Encore! And your persona was... ‘the smartest and the fairest’. Others would have been less convincing.” And in the Changeling Route: “You’re that learned fool from vulgar comedies. Try repeating all of that in Latin; you might bring down the house.” And speaking of personas. I find it delightful when Daniil confuses Clara’s for his own:
Tragedian: [The play] only has bold Masks, just Masks, and miserable Masks...
> What is the play about?
> I've only seen two Masks so far: the miserable one... and the bold one, I presume? It has a remarkably bold beak. *
Tragedian: [...] No, Bachelor; you've seen the Miserable Mask and the Just Mask—that is to say, the punishing one. The Bold Mask is you.
I do find Clara and Daniil incredibly similar, whether intentionally or not, and that’s partly when I find their dynamic so compelling. In typical Patho-doubles fashion, they feel like two sides of the same coin, with similar motivations but different conceptions of said motives. For one, they are both highly motivated by justice. Even if Clara is more led by her heart, in being the plague she is framed as divine judgement, and justice remains a strong thread throughout her character. Then Daniil is, of course, Dr I Will Find Answers and Justice Will Be Restored, and I find this overlap especially tasty because both the plague and doctor see themselves as bearers of justice. Their stories are also driven by their respective attempts to break the Law/achieve the miraculous, and Clara even has a slight utopian flavor in how she talks about the future she intends to create with the Commander.
I feel Clara’s similarity to Daniil really draws out how he can be his own detriment when it comes to miracles. As I’ve thought more about Daniil, it does seem that he stifles his own imagination and dreams with logic. His obsession with truth further seems to constrain him; I think his pursuit of truth is partly an extension of his need for rationality. He disregards the irrational and contradictory, because contradiction is incompatible with truth. As he tells Clara, “I don’t believe you, Changeling... You cannot be trusted because you always contradict yourself.” I feel that Daniil tries to organize reality neatly into what’s true and what isn’t to form a logical and ‘correct’ understanding of a situation, but it’s to his detriment because people and life are inconsistent, some things don’t make sense, so to disregard all that as lies robs him of a more complete understanding of the world. Like Clara tells him, “you have reconstructed a picture of the whole Universe and found the root of what happened, but your picture is austere and barebones... You have merely come to understand the mechanics of the events. You are generally a mechanic of medic.” From a meta standpoint, I think that playing as Daniil definitely offers the most bare-bones understanding of Patho, or at least the most ‘rational’ explanation of events that doesn’t communicate the richness of the world that you get with Artemy and Clara. This makes sense, of course—it allows the player a thorough introduction to make the next two routes more comprehensible. As Clara, the player can also say “There are no bachelors and no towns here, blind man! There’s just you and I. And you are my past. Meaning that, technically, there’s just me and I.” Which God I love it from a meta standpoint because presumably the player has done a route as Daniil, so he is the player’s past
A last thing I wanted to touch on is their diverging conceptions of fate. Daniil professes that he doesn’t believe in it and that it’s just a tool for excuses, such as telling Georgiy, “Categories like ‘time’, ‘nature’, and ‘fate’ deprive man of responsibility for what goes on around him. I was taught to avoid this worldview.” As I’ve said before, I feel that Daniil has a very internal locus of control, and sees everything as driven by actions, consequences, or coincidence. Clara largely does believe in fate, describing herself as bound by a set path and spending much of her route manipulating fate—not just her own, but deciding others’ as well. And in my opinion only Artemy manages to claim autonomy from it because he’s just. “No thanks I’m me actually fuck off.” I don’t think Daniil or the Changeling manage to escape it, but by stealing Clara’s fate, the Changeling still achieves a victory over the Law that Daniil (arguably, depending) does not.
Also, I couldn’t justify putting them anywhere but I have to include these dialogues because I love them so much
Bachelor: What, you and Maria talk to each other? Unbelievable. Maria denounced you as a Changeling and said that if you came to her again, she'd have you thrown into the Gorkhon to see if you'd sink or swim. Does this mean you've swum?
> No! *
> Quit fooling around! Let me into the Cathedral.
Bachelor: So you sank? That makes you a non-witch; but then you must be a revenant, and I don't know which is worse. Shame that the bullets in my revolver are leaden and not silver. But perhaps they'll do too...
Bachelor: Blimey! Look who's here, the demon huntress... I hope you've got your stake of aspen wood with you... And silver, lots of it.
> You're still a slave to your worldview...
> That last part sounded oddly covetous. *
Bachelor: Could be... I'm not the one without sin here. That would be you.
Just how Daniil is vehemently “the supernatural DOES NOT exist” 😡 and then says all this to her. Clara telling him to stop fooling around. Everything about the second one. kisses him kisses him kisses him

the lily orchard thing is weird because the primary callout for her that i've seen comes from a youtube channel with absolutely no sense of proportion, putting "wrote a shock fic years ago" and "featured as a character in feral furry porn" right next to "actually groomed minors" as though these are all equally bad and worthy of scorn. it makes me realize that even when we're right that someone is a bad person, we can still fall into transphobic ways of framing it
Okay full disclosure: i don’t know what youtube vid you’re talking about. I did watch A Videos on Orchard.
So first off I get the point about proportionality, theres absolutely a difference between writing stockholm and that whole stint where she encouraged a teen and an adult to “breed”, and I do agree that any callout should make the difference in severity clear,
But im not sure that, in this case, someone failing to make that distinction clear is A Transphobia. And that’s because… I’m not convinced Stockholm was intended to be a shock fic. I can definitely see where one may draw such a conclusion, I just personally feel otherwise, I feel like Stockholm is itself morally wrong. I feel the same way about it that I feel about “lolicon” art, and asking me to not mark the fic as a slight against Orchard feels odd to me, because I would be uncomfortable with Butch Hartman writing material like that. I would want to know that he wrote this, feels no remorse for writing it, intends to make media for children while having written that.
People draw their personal lines in the sand in different places, particularly when it comes to fictional depictions of That Shit. Someone’s Lolita (a harsh and uncomfortable work thats clearly not glorifying the act once you sit down and engage with it fairly) is going to be another’s [idk insert literal fucking CP here], and the wide diversity of art makes it nigh-impossible to be able to draw a line between Acceptable and Unacceptable.
And for what it’s worth, the above ^^^ is why Im frustrated with the binary framing of the pro-ship and anti-ship discourse. It just doesn’t work, even the most ardently pro-ship person is going to draw their line somewhere, and even the most ardently anti-ship is going to look at someone else’s judgement and go “but theres nothing wrong with this”. And ultimately, the two camps of pro and anti… don’t actually exist. Ask me honestly which camp I fall in and I genuinely wouldn’t be able to tell you, and if you interrogate your personal moral values and feelings about various dubious media honestly, you’ll realize that you can’t, either.
Sorry. This is a ramble. I’ll summarize:
- I think it’s important to know that Orchard wrote Stockholm, and to allow people to judge her for writing that, because many believe that works like these are morally wrong, period end of, and it’s not transmisogyny for one to judge this fic the same way they judge similar works from cishet writers.
- despite having that opinion, I do agree that the real grooming is much worse than the fic, and agree that making this distinction clear is important.
- I also think its dangerous to discuss the morality of fictional media from an all-or nothing binary framing, because the truth is we do not genuinely hold such extreme positions in real life, we all have a limit somewhere on the spectrum in either direction, which is my main frustration with pro-ship and anti-ship discourse, because you can never fully belong to either camp. Your position on the issue will be a mix of both. Pro some ships, anti other ships.
I hope thats clear? Thanks for the thoughtful ask. Also, mandatory “pls be gentle I’m the birthday girl”

Like any good monster fucker I do spend some time wondering what is in the pants of the various beast-adjacent races in ffxiv. Maybe all the male-sexed of the races have a normal human dick but that's boring to me. So.
I typed up some headcanons about the appearance, refractory periods, functionality, etc. for Miqo'te, Hrothgar, Viera, and Au Ra. There's also some musing about things like heat cycles!
You're welcome to adopt parts of these for your own fics/headcanons/etc if you like them, I don't mind! You're also welcome to keep doing you if you don't. To each their own dick. If you like dicks.
There is a lot of penis talk under the cut. If you don't want to read about dicks then don't click the cut. There is also a version with illustrated dick diagrams on my Pillowfort (here), if you do not want to see dicks, do not click the link. The post was intended to have the visual guide alongside it, but I have to leave these out on tumblr bc of content restrictions.
These are "averages" but ofc size, shape, color, hair content might vary significantly between individuals! Also note that minimum time to ejaculation is if they're speed-running it. They can, of course, draw sex out longer if desired, though if their refractory period is low they might not need to worry about it!
Miqo'te are among the more "human" of the animalistic races so their dicks get to be, too. Still, hope you like hairy balls. Or else can convince your man to shave. Miqo'te scrotum are entirely covered in thick fur, their main distinction from hyur. They also have some soft "barbs" along their shaft that add a bit of texture and help keep them seated while mating, but shouldn't be painful unless their partner is much smaller than them.
Males do not have heat cycles, but females do. Heats commonly last between 2-14 days, and reoccur every 2-3 weeks if medicines, magics, or potions are not used to limit it. If pregnancy occurs, heat will end "early" within the next day, and the heat cycle will be suspended until roughly a month after birth. Pregnancy is possible outside of heat cycles, but extremely uncommon.
Females in heat have an extremely strong drive to mate that is often impairing to other senses, and bear a distinct scent which will arouse and attract male miqo'te. Males can also smell when females of other races are fertile, though this doesn't (usually) cause the same physical reaction as to miqo'te in heat. Possessive and aggressive behavior toward receptive females by males is more common in Sunseeker tribes, but appears primarily to be a cultural phenomenon, not a biological one.
Male Sunseekers, in particular, have a quirk wherein their bodies are primed to treat victories in battle like a mating rite. Only Nunhs generally get to reproduce in Sunseeker society, and this title is won by defeating the previous Nunh in combat. So... victory equals mating rights. Which equals arousal. Sunseeker males who emerge from conflict on the winning side are going to have to deal with a short term, well, not heat, but something like it.
Average Refractory Period: 10-15 minutes Minimum Time to Ejaculation: 2-5 minutes
---------------
Hrothgar have furry, animalistic sheathes over a girthy, tapered penis, and much more distinct barbs which grow more prominent close to ejaculation and can be painful on withdrawal.
They have a heat cycle similar to miqo'te, however, female Hrothgar only go into heat every 3-4 months.
Average Refractory Period: 15-30 minutes Minimum Time to Ejaculation: 20-60 seconds
---------------
Viera in game-lore, to my knowledge, cannot be sexed until puberty. So they have nether regions that appear relatively vague even as adults. Fur obscures a "slit" between their legs. Their balls are stored inside - viera scrotum do not hang down, rather they frame either side of the penis slightly above it. Usually these are not visible, but in hot weather or while very relaxed, the outline may become distinct.
Viera have the fastest refractory period of all races, though fertility decreases significantly at this pace. Like other races, a male Viera intending to breed should generally only attempt it twice a day.
Flaccid males are very difficult to distinguish from females. Erect are reminiscent of real-life transmasculine dicks, since I personally find the idea affirming. Your mileage may vary!
Female viera have no heat cycle. They are, essentially, always in heat except when pregnant, but this is not a distracting fever like it is for the more catlike races, simply a biological convenience.
Average Refractory Period: 2-8 minutes Minimum Time to Ejaculation: 20-90 seconds
---------------
Au Ra, despite their impressive height, do not possess elezen-sized cocks. They are, however, erect 24/7. Au Ra reproductive parts are concealed inside a cloaca, alongside their urethra and anus. So yes, the cloaca is a magical hole full of goodies.
Au Ra dicks are small enough to fit comfortably inside the females of their race, and emerge fully erect from the cloaca when aroused. The cock has a fairly wide opening at the tip. So if you were wondering, also yes, you could probably fit your tongue in there.
Having a smaller penis is generally preferred among traditionally-raised au ra women, since it can't do its job very well if it doesn't even fit inside. Sorry, Magnai.
Au Ra do not have heats, but do have yearly "mating seasons" when the drive to reproduce is stronger for both sexes, and offspring are more likely to be conceived.
Average Refractory Period: 1 hour Minimum Time to Ejaculation: 7-10 minutes

Curiosity Killed the Cat: A Dreamersscape Story
Which doesn't seem quite fair, really, considering although I like cats a great deal, you still wouldn't call me a cat person.
Step #1: Love Kakashi Hatake far too much as a character.
Step #2: Scroll through his tumblr tag. Slowly start noticing that people often draw parallels between him and another character from the currently-running Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime, Satoru Gojo.
Step #3: Think, "This is fine. It appears they're mostly just comparing their similar character designs and they both have unique things going on with their eyes. I'm not seeing anything that's really piquing my interest with this series; I'll just quickly look up if there's anything more to these comparisons beyond surface-level resemblances and that will be that."
Step #4: One of the next things you learn about Gojo is that a common clickbait-y way to frame discussion around parts of his personality is along the lines of, "Does Gojo have a God complex?"
Step #5: Think, "Ah, okay. That's likely an exaggeration, but probably Kakashi and Gojo can't be all that similar, or at least I likely wouldn't feel much the same about them as characters. Now I'm simply curious how far off Gojo actually is from having a God complex and then I'll be done."
Step #6: Did not back out of this rabbit hole at this juncture.
Step #7: Hard to recollect exactly the order of things from here, but learned that Gojo is the teacher for his own group of 3 fifteen-year-old students (and also previously taught older students since he's the head of first-year high school students at his very small school), learned back when Gojo was a student at this same school he had a very close friend who was instrumental in imbuing Gojo with his current moral principles and this friend is now dead, and learned that Gojo is the unequivocally strongest character within his universe's power system, and thus while he has a LOT of confidence in his own abilities and can be a bit cocky and a show-off, he definitely doesn't think of himself as godlike (anyone who's familiar with JJK and reading this--I'm aware of 'the honored one' thing, hang on a sec).
Step #8: Decide, "Alright then. Well, I am starting to get more intrigued by this series. Maybe I'll look up a little more about it and watch the first episode or two. It'll be fine. After all, I get now why people are reminded of Kakashi by Gojo and vice versa, but it certainly sounds like Gojo's personality is basically the opposite of someone who's convinced they're scum and is incredibly unassuming and humble and could honestly use a bit more self-worth so he at least possesses a modicum of self-preservation inclination. Gojo seems to have a lighthearted, goofy side that is partly used as a cover for his deeper emotions, and I might get attached to that based on other characters I've loved, but that still ought to be pretty safe. If I do wind up liking Gojo the most out of all the characters, there's no way he'll put me through the same heart-wrenching agony as seeing Kakashi being a paragon of strength of character and sheer goodness, while inwardly he can't see anything of value in himself."
The thing is, I wasn't wrong.
But clearly, I underestimated the pain I could still experience at the hands of a Kakashi-adjacent character.
(All I'm about to explain is completely non-spoilery, by the way. And by that I mean I'm not going to be ruining any major plot points or the "viewing experience" of watching the anime or reading the manga. Anything I reference that happens at any point beyond the first few chapters, I'll be as vague and opaque about it as possible, as well as very brief. And it will also all be basic background info/set up level stuff.)
Okay, so before I get to the real kicker, let's start with Gojo's dream.
In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the chakra equivalent is called cursed energy. However, cursed energy is not a life force. Cursed energy arises from people's negative emotions, and if the quantities of negative emotions emitted by the populace is large and concentrated enough, this creates cursed spirits of various sorts. For example, humanity's collective fear and pain experienced through natural disasters created a cursed spirit out of that resulting enormous amount of cursed energy. Cursed spirits usually aren't sentient, but almost unerringly they cause great harm and often death to humans. The number we're given at the start of the manga is around 10,000 unexplained deaths and missing persons per year in Japan are the result of curses.
Jujutsu sorcerers are the people who exorcize (or destroy, more like) cursed spirits to mitigate that as much as possible. They exorcize the curses with cursed energy-fueled techniques that are unique to each sorcerer. A sorcerer's innate cursed technique (CT) is said to comprise around 80% of their potential/talent as a fighter of curses. We're told that over the course of the last, I don't know, century or so (?) - the date at the start of the series is June 2018 - curse spirits have been increasing in strength and number. However, the incredibly rare combination of the Limitless cursed technique and the Six Eyes in-born trait Gojo was born with is so powerful that his birth alone swung the balance from being in the curses' favor back over to the side of the jujutsu sorcerers.
Details on Gojo's childhood are quite sparse, basically the only things we know about the Gojo family are it's one of the three big clans in jujutsu society and they're very wealthy. As far as I'm aware, Satoru is the only member of the clan we've ever met. So there's only supposition for what his home life was like up until he started at Jujutsu High, but we do know that because his possessing both the Six Eyes and Limitless was the first occurrence of such in 300-400 years, his existence was something of a spectacle and many sorcerers came to visit him just to see it for themselves, and too, he was the target of curse users (sorcerers who use jujutsu for evil and their own selfish gain) in pursuit of the over 100 million yen bounty placed on his head since he was very young.
It would be pretty reasonable to assume Gojo was subsequently rather sheltered and perhaps quite lonely as a child, but at the same time praised and lauded for how he was so naturally, prodigiously powerful. It only makes sense that Gojo has more than a little pride in his strength and puts so much stock in that. I'm sure he really enjoyed the attention and notoriety he received, and he never expresses resentment regarding any pressure that might have been put on him as a kid to be the infallible (future?) vanquisher of curses (although later I do think he places more and more pressure on himself to "take care" of everything and be responsible for the safety of everyone in the jujutsu world and beyond), and yet I do believe it's apparent he understands he didn't get to have a "normal" childhood. As a part of one of the big clans, he was surrounded and immersed in the political power plays and jockeying for prestige and influence by jujutsu society's elders/leaders/'higher ups' from the start (we don't know when or how it happened, but presumably because he's the strongest living Gojo, at the start of the story Satoru is the head of the clan), and these higher ups view Gojo in terms of how he can best be used for their own benefit. Outside of his high school best friend and later a few of his students, Gojo has very few people who have more than a cursory understanding of who he is as a person, who seem to want to know him, not the living embodiment of the title 'The Strongest', but just Satoru Gojo. Gojo likes being The Strongest, but when that's all everyone around him appears to care about, it leaves him feeling very isolated and alone.
As I mentioned before, though, Gojo never complains about this. He doesn't ever even imply "because I was treated this way, I want to prevent anyone else having to go through that." He does tell one of the people he's somewhat close to what his aim is and what the reason is behind it, but it's worded in a way where the person is confused by Gojo's explanation, and we as the reader can't even be sure he's referring to himself, since it could just as easily be in reference to his deceased friend.
It's informed by his experiences growing up certainly, but Gojo's fierce desire to give the kids he watches over the opportunity to fully and freely enjoy their youth is not about regretting what he missed out on; it's about what he can do for them, doing all he can to protect and preserve their childhood and making sure no one can take that away from them.
I realize I haven't exactly explained what precisely Gojo's 'dream' is and how it ties into all this, so I'll attempt to circle back to that now.
Jujutsu Kaisen begins with our main character, Yuji Itadori, accidentally stumbling his way into the jujutsu world by doing something very dangerous in order to be in what he thinks is a better position to help his friends out of a bad situation. He succeeds in helping his friends, but what he had to do to make that happen is an action that is punishable by death under jujutsu regulations. Naturally, Yuji was unaware of that, but it doesn't matter to the sorcerer higher ups. Gojo hears about the situation, intervenes, and is able to get the elders to suspend Yuji's execution for the time being. I'm glossing over a bunch of stuff but let's roll with that for now. While Gojo is explaining the whole situation to Yuji, the first thing he tells Yuji about the higher ups is that he thinks they're a bunch of cowards. And really, that's just the tip of the iceberg for how Gojo feels towards these leaders. He's not a fan of them by any stretch of the imagination. I said above Gojo never voices resentment directed at them over his lack of a carefree childhood, and that's true, however his dislike of the higher ups does seem to be partly personal. We just don't know the specifics other than that when he criticizes them (to their faces or a fellow colleague) he sticks to their wrongful actions on the whole, not how they've wronged him. A handful of episodes later, the higher ups pull something really awful and underhanded while Gojo is away on another mission, a scheme that is partially motivated by wanting to get back at Gojo for interfering with Yuji. Newly and deeply angered by this, Gojo delves further into the corruption at the top of the jujutsu world and then tells us about his dream:
A similar scene happens one year previous to this:
(Gojo doesn't use it anywhere near as frequently, but his saying 'what a pain' about many a situation still manages to give me Shikamaru feelings and I enjoy that.)
What stands out to me the most here is how much Gojo WANTS the students/his allies to be equal to or surpass him in strength. He's not at all concerned with keeping his position and accompanying power all to himself like the higher ups are. During one of the first chapters of the manga/show, to allay someone's uneasiness over potential danger, Gojo tells them, "Don't worry, I'm the strongest." It's only later that we learn when he was much younger he was originally quite happy to say, "Anyway, it should be okay. We're the strongest." I really think he would like nothing better than to be able to say that once again.
In an unusual turn of events for me, when I caught up to the JJK manga a few months ago, I actually had pretty good timing with what was currently going on, but now the story is starting to enter into its final stages and it seems like a lot of people in the fandom feel the narrative is very possibly leading to Gojo's death in some way that will better enable this brighter, less corrupt future for the jujutsu world and his students that he's been working towards this entire time. I don't think that would be a bad outcome, I'm not against noble sacrifices entirely, but I really, really, really don't want to see this happen. And here's where my unexpected Kakashi-adjacent feelings come into play. The reasons for why I'm so invested in seeing both Kakashi and Gojo live to be a part of the better world they helped create are pretty different. Yet, they're also not miles apart. I don't think Gojo has as many doubts as Kakashi that he has a place in the future of which he dreams, but from what I can tell his main focus is on that future existing for everyone else. Maybe he believes that is his purpose as The Strongest? Probably he does have every intention of being there with his fellows. I just want that for him so very much. For the few glimpses of kid!Gojo we got, who always looked so solemn; for the teenage Gojo with the biggest, goofiest smiles, who had so much connection ripped away prematurely; for Gojo the teacher, who works so hard to make every kid feel welcome and excited and to know they aren't alone. I'm aware of the kind of story I'm reading--Jujutsu Kaisen is unrelentingly brutal to its characters. It's a matter of course to have your heart mercilessly stomped on over and over reading JJK. It's not the sort of story where you can reasonably expect a happy ending. Unfortunately, I'm much too optimistic of a person for this manga and I'm far too attached to the story and characters and I'm in way, way too deep.
But let's ignore all that for now and get to the Kakashi-adjacent part of Gojo which clobbered me over the head with feels even worse than what I've already detailed!
@panharmonium, when you've reached this part of the post, I can't really guess what you're thinking about it all, but what if I told you that one of Gojo's students, Megumi Fushiguro, the Sasuke-adjacent one, was, along with his one-year-older step-sister Tsumiki, quasi-adopted/looked after/raised by Gojo from the time Megumi was six/in first grade and Gojo was just nineteen? By blood, Megumi is actually a member of the Zen'in clan, another of the three major clans in jujutsu society. Gojo, fresh out of high school and still newly, painfully estranged from his best friend, hears by chance that Megumi, who's on his own at this time apart from Tsumiki (also parentless), is about to be sold to the Zen'in because of the cursed technique he's just manifested, and although it has nothing to do with him, Gojo goes to Megumi and asks him if he wants to go live with the Zen'in. Upon learning if he chooses this, Tsumiki will be very unhappy (the Zen'in clan cares nothing for her and they are by-and-large super blatantly misogynistic), Megumi says no and Gojo's like, "Cool, that's great! I'll take care of everything and I'll make sure you two have everything you need. I want you to grow up strong!" And then there's a moment in the manga, where present-day Gojo is taking a nap and dreams of this first meeting between himself and Megumi and when he wakes up to his three students coming to see him he does this:
AND THE SECOND SEASON OF THE ANIME JUST STARTED AIRING A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THAT MEANS I'LL BE ABLE TO SEE THIS MOMENT ANIMATED POSSIBLY AS SOON AS AUGUST 3RD (DUB PROBABLY AUGUST 17TH) AND I'M GONNA DIE. HE LOVES THAT KID SO MUCH!!!!!
So obviously that's super sweet and all, but maybe you're thinking, "Okay, that's nice, but do they really have that Kakashi 'n' Sasuke vibe?" and to that I say, "CHECK OUT THIS SHORT VIDEO AND THEN HOPEFULLY I CAN REST MY CASE."
youtube
Also, it is now my most important goal in life to draw a Kakashi & Sasuke version of these panels so I can dedicate it to you (and padmerrie if she wants in on this):
Of course, I'm not saying Sasuke and Megumi are carbon copies of each other (or Kakashi and Gojo for that matter, as I've tried to delineate above). Megumi has a bit of a grumpy disposition, but he's also very polite; he always calls Gojo "Gojo-sensei" and he uses "-senpai" for all the upperclassmen (who he met previously to becoming a student at Jujutsu High). Megumi is the dog guy in JJK and Gojo's more reminiscent of a cat in some respects. Etc., etc., etc. But in general, I really hope you see the vision!
While I'm at it, I might as well show you the little Gojo & Yuji video that naturally gives me all the Kakashi & Naruto feelings:
youtube
Yuji's already got the jubilantly-tackle-hug-your-sensei part down! (Although, of course, Gojo's much less resistant.🥰)
It is admittedly much more of a stretch to say Nobara is Sakura-adjacent, but I have seen someone describe her as a 'gremlin child' and I love that about her! <3
Anyway, I totally get if none of this is up your alley for whatever reason or you don't have the time to get into JJK if this happens to persuade you or if you just want to prioritize other stuff right now. *I* didn't mean to get into it, after all! The plan for my looking into JJK was to be purely for enhancing my love for Kakashi, and I failed spectacularly at limiting myself to that. I just thought I would share to see if it would be a fun read for you. :)
#super stressed for tomorrow night's chapter honestly#so channeling my emotions into this rambly mess of a post#oh also I decided to forego the companion gifset that goes with this#still gonna post it soon but I don't want to rush it and most of the visuals are already included here#in the gifset they'll just be the anime visuals#and it's going to be captioned 'gojo really asked is anyone going to adopt these kids instead of sentencing them to execution or selling#them off like cattle? and then didn't wait for an answer' 'cause three separate instances makes a pattern buddy#random musings of a personal nature#jujutsu kaisen#satoru gojo#megumi fushiguro#yuji itadori#yuta okkotsu#tsumiki fushiguro#kakashi hatake#panharmonium

Tubbo is a force to be reckoned with
If he got kidnapped he really would do live while he's kidnapped
Kidnapping vlog
The pactoiles brainrot is real(feel free to scream about them)
Insane duo mermaid au you say? 👀
Mermaids are one of the things that the brainrot never truly leave me, it aways come back every once in a while for whatever the reason is
But yeah, the world should stop being afraid of us, like, what could we possibly do?
There's nothing to be afraid:)
Very random, but people started calling Philza and Cellbit the archivists and I get so many the Magnus archives vibes from it
And I know very little about TMA but I like the vibes
Talking about Philza...
GIVE HIS WINGS BACK YOU FUDGES
About the dead federation workers thing
I'm very... Divided(I hope that's make sense on English) about it, like, if qcellbit really did it I think some people would react in a similar way they did to qbbh about Ron(how is that guy btw? I haven't heard about him anymore) and... Y'know, he changed from the guy he used be and such
But at the same time I'm like "FINALLY", because, yeah fudge the federation:D
I dunno, perhaps if he really did it he could convince people it's just the federation trying to frame him y'know
But just time will tell
And you can probably tell to wich side I'm more inclined to
I crave the chaos
(Also I saw someone say "F bit, now it's just Cell")
Pac would swim his way outta this island if he wasn't scared of water too
At the same time I don't think the federation are above killing their workers to frame him
He's one of the most anti-federation people on that island and he got a very dubious past, sure he changed, but at the same time it would make the others wondee if he would do it, he hates the federation and after everything they've done to him, his family and the others Islanders, he would have a reason to do it
So yeah, both options are equally possible to me
"he's just like fr"
-Cellbit's discord about Cellbit probably
The devil work fast but Cellbit's discord work faster
I have found the headcanon of Cellbit's discord being some sort of entity or god(s) or something and nobody will it off me
Its just so cool
This reminds me I've said that I would make designs for the qsmp goddess and still haven't done it
I never have ideas to draw except when I do(at 3am)
How do you imagine them tho?
I could talk about it probably but it would definitely be really long because I can't write something short to save my life
Maybe on another ask:)
- 🍽️
tbh a kidnapping vlog from q!tubbo would be very very funny MKNSJHCKJA what can the federation do?? they already put him in prison?? double prison??? i think the federation really want tubbo of the island but have no way of doing it yet lol
insaneduo mermaid au are so silly… i love them so much
i tried to get into the magnus archives once but i got distracted and then never retuned to listening to it TT it looks so cool i want to get into it, especially the avatars/entities (?) like the web, the lonely, etc etc. i think you could so easily make a qsmp au with it but i’m not in it so i can’t be the one to do it TT
i heard that jaiden asked the uh federation/mods about her wings so maybe that’s how they can get them like out of canon kekw i know cc!philza would just not ask for his wings back tho JUST TO KILL US WITH ANGST!! HE KILLED NEARLY ALL HIS FANS SAYING HE KEEPS HIS BACKPACK ON BECAUSE ITS LIKE HAVING THE WEIGHT OF HIS WINGS BACK HE WILL KILL US AGAIN!! the crows are miserable
i don’t know what to think about the dead federation workers… maybe cellbit just confused what halloween decorations are and killed a man to decorate spawn with u-u i support him to do that halloween is my favorite holiday. i think with how his character is rn it wouldn’t really make sense for him to kill a worker all of a sudden? BUT if it is actually him who did it then i will support his crimes. i’ll defend him in qsmp court
CELLBITS DISCORD BEING A GOD/DEITY ENTITIY IS SUCH A COOL IDEA HOLY SHIIIIIT O-o maybe cellbit is a follower of this god because they really love puzzles/is all about mystery, that’s why they always make themselves known when there are enigmas on the server (like with q!bagi and solving it with her) (maybe the god feeds on mystery and knowledge? owo) it’s funny to think that tubbo always calls out to this god too, asking if he’s doing good and asking them for answers kamknfkns the deity is a little fond of q!tubbo because he’s silly.
ID LOVE TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS FOR GODDESS DESIGNS!! the only real idea i have is for mumza. she’s super purple and wears a huge hat like a qphilza with a veil so it hides her face. i think she might have some sort of galaxy aesthetic too because it’s pretty and she deserves that <33 she always has crows surrounding her too. I’ve seen a lot of cute designs for Mine and i think she’s be very pink like her irl lol. i think she should also get wings uwu
#✉️ asks or whatever#🍽️ anon#hiding in the tags nmsknd i think it’s because past fandoms i’m in i never rlly engaged in shipping so i’m like very shy about it lolol#except for q!slimeriana because they’re canon and i need to remind everyone that they’re married and toxic and also in love#brrrr okay back to being normal

Live-action + Animation: Analysis
The Enchanted Drawing:
The earliest recorded live-action footage featuring animation was The Enchanted Drawing, in which the idea that that frames painted on the using a sped-up technique that we now know as a time-lapse created the illusion of movement, which was almost magical and enchanted, hence the name.
What this immediately forces me to think of is the disparity between showing the process of animating within the animation (the man drawing the frames) and only showing the animation itself, there's a certain degree of experimentation that can be had by pulling back the curtain. In the times when this was created, this was a new concept and the rules were not yet established enough to break, but nowadays a technique like this could be explore to convey a certain feel within a production.
Animator Vs Animation:
In the early days of video sharing, an animator by the name of Alan Becker pioneered a trend of animations that utilized compositing as a means to show a stick-figure character breaking the bonds of the animation software it was in and seemingly “coming to life” as a drawing, this series was known as Animator vs Animation and was a fond part of my childhood.
The process of which it took to make this involves taking the program that the drawings are made upon, and using it as a backdrop, while also cutting out and manipulating elements of it so it seems as though the character is interacting with the environment. I could take this into my own work by having a character of some kind break out of the animation software and into someplace else, and maybe break down the techniques Alan Becker used by attempting them for myself in animation tests.
Who Framed Rodger Rabbit:
Another facet of combining drawn and real life footage into the same composite is the lighting, shown here by this frame from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit. The highlights and shadow cell shading is done with the lighting of the actual scene in mind, and that is what I believe creates a convincing atmosphere where the cartoon characters seem to be present. The two characters look like they’re part of the same world, despite being so different from one another.
With this in mind the character that I will ensure any drawn characters/assets and live action footage is correctly merged, so that the lighting looks the same. I also think I may use this traditional cartoony method of cell shading as it very much lends itself to my own personal style.
The Lego Movie:
The majority of this movie is in stop motion, with a brief moment where the film plays around with the concept of having the main character break the fourth wall, but still stay within the confines of the diegesis in a very similar way that Animator vs Animation does, once the character breaks that fourth wall that narrative is then contained within another wall. It does this by including stop motion elements from the rest of the film and incorporating them into a live-action scene where the character is depicted interacting Will Farrell playing The Man Upstairs. In that aspect I suppose this film fuses ideas from both Who Framed Rodger Rabbit and Animator vs Animation, and is a prime example of how different film-makers can defy conventions to mess with the audience or create a certain feeling/effect.
Summary:
I conclusion, I feel that a project that explores breaking the fourth-wall with drawn and live-action elements is what I’d like to pursue, following the brief this means I need to figure out the following:
- Invent a concept within the technical confines of brief - Pick a filming location - Figure out how and where to add a tracked shot and at least one moving shot

LEGIONS - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: XYZ Films
SYNOPSIS: Antonio Poyju is a shaman with a powerful blood lineage. While being held in an asylum, against his will, Antonio receives an omen of a great imminent danger. His daughter Helena, heir to his bloodline, is being stalked by an evil entity that plans to sacrifice her during the rise of a blood moon. Helena lost her faith and no longer believes in her father's teachings. Antonio must use his powers to escape. He must reignite his daughter's faith in the old ways, restore their bond and rescue his daughter from this ancient demon.
REVIEW: As a title, I don’t feel LEGIONS adequately represents Argentinian filmmaker Fabian Forte’s latest film. It’s a complex tale of family relationships, assimilation, faith, indigenous peoples, and a bit of satire. It was a bit reminiscent of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,” “The Exorcist,” and “Evil Dead.”
Forte’s screenplay sets Antonio as the narrator, presenting flashbacks to his time as a shaman in the jungle/rainforest. He is not simply curing the locals’ physical ills, he combats their spiritual ailments, the different spiritual elements that live among the trees. He recounts the story of how he met the love of his life Amanda, the birth of his daughter Helena, and his early battles with the spirit Kuaraya. He recounts the accounts to a trio of residents of the asylum who are cast in a theatrical production they are putting on based on his stories. Antonio’s story is a grounded tale and the elements of the asylum and its residents add comic relief. Likewise, there are some moments in the adult Helena’s life where her co-workers offer similar comic relief. Antonio and Helena’s differences are not simply contemporary, urban, belief and tech based issues, but there are supernatural factors blended in. There are lengths Antonio must go to win over the trust of his daughter, as when he says, “How can I convince her if she fears me?” He is willing to venture out of his comfort zone, but also draws on his shamanic powers to reach her. The character arcs, dialogue and the supporting cast of characters are woven into an entertaining and enchanting fable.
I love this ensemble cast. To a small degree, Germán de Silva’s performance as the older Antonio felt like a nod to the character of Don Quixote. He presents this curmudgeon who once more valiantly enters into the fray to save a life, here a loved one, his daughter. Juxtaposed to that is Lorena Vega’s portrayal of a modern woman with an okay job and in a relationship. She does an excellent job presenting this character who has these “spiritual” elements enter her life that cause deja vu moments. There are some excellent scenes where the two butt heads and you get a sense of their relationship. The rest of the cast creates this farce around the main drama. There are some belly laughs and memorable horrific moments that add to the overall enjoyment of the film.
I relished the production’s values. There are some interesting locations. There are many in camera effects. As the climax nears, they pull out some clever special and visual effects to ramp up the horror. The cinematography, framing and editing have an independent feel. Pablo Fuu’s score added some nice emotional accents to the visuals and narrative. The costumes were fine, but there were a few moments in the flashbacks where the wardrobe on some of the characters looked fresh off the rack in the closeups. A tad of distractions but not too bad.
Clearly, Fabian Forte is a fan of the horror genre. Unlike most American genre films that strive to pay homage to a filmmaker’s favorite film, LEGIONS is its own tale with elements that illustrate Forte’s influences without overshadowing his narrative. At its heart, the film is skillfully written as an allegory that deals with the generational and cultural divide of a father and daughter’s relationship. It's refreshing how the film surrounds the serious heart of the tale with interesting characters that provide comedic relief in a Shakespearean fashion, and also has a “play-with-in-a-play” facet. An enjoyable and engaging view that left me with a keen interest in seeing what these filmmakers do next. An excellent view.

[movie review] men in black (1997)
“imagine what you’ll know tomorrow.”[1]
it was super cool seeing this in theaters for the first time since the summer of 1997! it’s one of those movies i saw multiple times in theaters, watched over and over on vhs, and got super into because it was superficially similar to everything else i was into at the time.[2]
and look, i’m autistic. when i get into something, i get into something. i had that really bad pc game. i didn’t get very far into it because the gameplay was pretty opaque, but i did cut up the instruction guide to get rid of all the gameplay stuff and keep the framing narrative that it was an “mib agent field guide.”[3]
i fucking love this movie. i love the concept. i love the execution. i love all the little jokes like describing aliens or alien technology as coming from “out of town” or “out of state.” i love little moments like pre-mib j dismissively saying that a suspect he ran down said “the world was going to end,” followed by k asking in a deadly-serious tone, “did he say when?” giving us our first glimpse into the world j is about to step into. i love tommy lee jones deadpanning shit like, “no, ma’am, we at the fbi do not have a sense of humor we’re aware of.” i love how will smith is so unbelievably likable that i’m fairly convinced he’s an alien.[4] i love the fact that an adorable kitty becomes a central plot point. i yelped “kitty!” (quietly, i hope) at the screen basically every time orion popped up.
the first five minutes of this movie feature the mib agents letting a group of undocumented immigrants go, and when the cops on the scene vehemently object, agent k hits them with a line i’m absolutely using the next time i’m misgendered. “don’t ‘sir’ me, young man. you have no idea what you’re dealing with here.”
i feel a little pang that the sequels so completely failed to capitalize on the just... mind-blowingly enormous potential of this film. i actually kind of love men in black ii in spite of its shortcomings, and men in black 3 is okay, i guess.[5] but there’s just something magical here, and it feels like there were so many different, better directions a series of sequels could’ve gone.
but yeah, who cares about that. this movie makes me grin and feel, for a little over an hour and a half anyway, like a child again. i fucking love this movie.

notes
1. i really like that line, but the speech it comes from is elitist bullshit. and the examples k uses are factually incorrect.
2. “everything else” being scifi in general including star trek, but i think that was especially the heart of my x-files phase, and you can practically draw a straight line between the reasons the x-files and men in black appealed to me.
3. i think i’ve mentioned once or twice or a thousand times that i love “nonfiction”-style books from fictional universes.
4. yes, even after he punched chris rock. especially after he punched chris rock. get over it.
5. why did they switch their sequel numbering from roman numerals to arabic numerals? we may never know. it’s somehow even more infuriating than films that switch from numbered sequels to subtitled sequels, though.
