Hear me out- Ghosts have wings. They have wings, which are affected by their cores, and can make them disappear from sight if they want or need to. You got that? Good. 

Ecto-contaminated people? Don’t have wings. Liminals and Halfas, who have developed cores? Do have wings, and they can’t hide said wings, because unlike ghosts? Their bodies are physical living flesh. 

Now Gotham? Ecto-contaminated, there’s no doubt about it. The amount of portals that have been opened there and death pits and death cults… yeah it’d be surprising if it wasn’t. But again, no one really notices, because at most? Most just get a bit of eyeshine. 

The Bats however? Oh man are they freaking out when they wake up with aches in their back and feathers starting to poke through their skin. Curse? Nope! Welcome to Liminality, enjoy the second puberty of wings, emotion-sharing, fangs, claws, and whatever else you might develop- also enjoy the whole eating fear thing. (Wait, the what-)

Yes, Choji has three starter pokemon evolutions on his team. I couldn’t help myself and neither could he, apparently. Choji’s definitely been abroad a fair few times, both before and after becoming his town’s gym leader, and it’s like he’s got a sixth sense for finding the pokemon in each region that are going to give him the biggest challenge. The rarest and most difficult to catch have all been starter pokemon so far (and Castform, which he may or may not have stolen/liberated from a weather research facility in Hoenn). Cinderace is his ace (ha) pokemon, and it’s… totally because he’s got the kanji for rabbit in his name (correct me if I’m wrong but that’s why everyone uses the rabbit emoji for him, right?). Also fire types just felt fitting for Choji. Bright and burning like the sun, just like him! Hence why Castform is perpetually in its Sunny Day form. Monferno matches his acrobatics in a fight and Torracat is for Shishitoren!

As for Litleo… gonna be totally honest here, I briefly forgot Torracat existed and thought this was the closest I was going to get to a tiger. And then I did find Torracat, and I thought about dropping Litleo from the line-up. The eyes, though. Litleo’s damn eyes reminded me too much of Choji, so I kept it. Also it’s cute and I can very vividly imagine Choji play-wrestling with it. And probably playing soccer/football with Cinderace. Choji would dominate in a lot of sports but I’m partial to soccer, so. Might as well tack that headcanon on.

(Also, hey. If my very tired brain is misfiring at the moment and shishitoren’s animal is a lion, not a tiger? I did Litleo on purpose)

Last but not least, Charcadet. I said this in another post but I literally have no idea what goes on in Scarlet and Violet. I don’t know if this is a rare pokemon, or one Choji could feasibly have without completing some plot-relevant quest. But we’re throwing logic out the window for this one because I took one look at Charcadet and said, yeah, that’s Choji’s. No need to look for a backup sixth pokemon, that’s him all over. Tiny fire child warrior!! No regrets.

Also, while I’m on the topic, I just want to say, that HoH was written and published in the 2012-2013 timeframe. For perspective:

Gay marriage wasn’t legalized across the board.

The Orlando night club shooting hadn’t even happens yet.

Pride month & celebrations existed, but they weren’t the big commercialized things they were today.

Conversion therapy had JUST been banned in its first state.

Not only wasn’t gay marriage legalized across the board, there were still states that were actively passing laws to make it illegal.

It had JUST become illegal to discriminate against someone based on their sexuality.

…this was just America, and I didn’t even cover all of it.

My point is, coming out back then was very scary, and while these books are technically “timeless”, Nico’s sexuality arc and feelings surrounding his queerness was written in this timeframe, and based on the homophobia that was going on in that time frame. And honestly, that is not exactly an easy thing to write out.

So, yes, if we take into consideration the time Nico’s initial coming out happened, which I feel like is very important in this case, it is very likely that alot of people at camp would not be comfortable enough in coming out.

what can I even say about DUNC other than i fucking love it!!! i've been a shameless dick rider for denis villeneuve ever since Sicario, and I went to the cinema to see DUNC and DUNC 2 which. one thing about me is i hate cinemas. i didn't even go to the cinema for scorsese or yorgo lanthimos or top gun 2 so you know it's serious

the visuals are straight up incredible, the casting is peak, the material is handled with a lot of what feels like genuine love and passion, the lady going ham on the arabic yodeling on the OST is a queen, and in general wrt dune fans watching DUNC, I imagine that's how people who like Tolkien felt when Peter Jackson's LOTR came out

i can't wait for the conflict between the matriarchal eugenicists with milking machines and the patriarchal eugenicists with breeding tanks
