And that's why Kendrick made him cry in the car with “not like us”
Someone get a hitman on him and Tory pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Tumblr media
- So Aubrey’s final tactic to regain his renounced popularity is to give a shoutout to a balding leprechaun that shot someone (a woman at that) because she *checks notes* hurt his ego by saying that he’s not as famous as he thinks he is (in other words he ain’t all that and a bag of chips) ?! I hate a disgusting bitCH and Aubrey is the definition of that.
I’m so glad that everyone is recognizing how reviled he is. Thank you Kendrick and Megan for ruining drakes career and exposing him for being the total toxic biiitch he is

Random, but I started to think about how people have treated Meg over the years, before Tory. They loved her when she first hit the scene, only to switch up and start saying how she can't really rap like that (she can out-rap most male rappers), saying her flow was predictable/tired (most male rappers do the same thing. They just add a cute, catchy beat), there was quite the discourse on her looks too.
Now, people are acting like they have never said these things. I'm not talking about those that are just simply standing with her in terms of what Tory did. I'm talking about the ones who hated on her (not simply having opinions, but genuinely hating on her. I'm aware that some people genuinely didn't like her music/raps/fashion and I'm not including them in this) and now it's like Meg has always been their girl.
The switch up has been so funny to watch, as soon as he was found guilty people had nothing to say anymore lol. Same thing happened with Kae

Meg came to perform in NOLA the night of her moms funeral and that takes so much strength and determination, &I just knewwww I was gonna meet my girl ! I didn’t know how , but the universe made it so, right after her show and I remember hugging her, &feeling her pain…I gave her a Pimp C shirt &was in tears &prayed over her &told her that “no weapon formed against you shall prosper , &on mama Holly you’re going to the top “ right after our encounter she started skyrocketing and meeting EVERYBODY important.

The week I had this dream when I was talking with Bey in the Quarters, was the same exact week they dropped savage remix on MY BIRTHDAY.
Tumblr media
Tory shot at Meg JULY 12th the same exact night a f*ck nigga stole $1000 from me, our shared depression about trusting the wrong people, is how I been felt she wasn’t lying. I wanted to dieeee in 2020 just like she wanted to. she NEVER called 911 , they were all pulled over because an outside witness heard gun shots. The next morning, Tory was already IN JAIL before they found the bullet fragments at the hospital, so he was being charged with SOMETHING (illegal possession of a firearm)… even when she was lying FOR him. Assault &negligence charges were added later because there was NO denying the damage done. The state of California went after Peterson because they had all the necessary EVIDENCE, Meg was just a witness and victim.
PLUS he had a JURY TRIAL (12 regular degular mfs) &GUILTY on all counts… bffr💀
Like right now , Louisiana picked up felony charges against me but they have NO evidence that’s why “discovery” got pushed back… I’m really out on bond 🫠 but ima sue they thongs off, cause I’m INNOCENT. The entire courtroom starting to realize it ALREADY.. even the judge had favor &pleasantries towards me.

Iris West Anon here, sorry I had to lay low over the summer because with everything going on with Ben and Maya speaking on it would've not been good for me or my friend. I'm here now(temporarily) because stuff is leaking about Ben anyway so I'm probably safe. I'll answer all the questions I can that I've seen right now, beware this post will be very long.
Maya and Ben breakup: Maya and Ben broke up because Ben found out Maya hooked up with someone else and got mad. Maya was mad at Ben during one of her trips to the UK and hooked up with someone(idk who but they were famous). Maya regretted it because the sex was trash(especially compared to Ben) it was a reckless decision in order to get back at Ben and she knew if Ben found out he'd be pissed and the relationship wouldn't be the same. Ben did find out(obviously) got mad and kicked her out and even threw some of her stuff away hence her abrupt flight out of NY during the summer. Maya believed they could salvage it and tried hard to get Ben back and even kept the engagement ring. Ben wasn't having it and they split for a while however neither where willing to truly break up so they kept the facade up and kept in touch just in case they did work things out, hence them denying breaking up despite it being somewhat obvious. However after a while it became clear that they weren't in the right space to work it out and decided to officially break up.
Meg and Ben: They hooked up in 2020 after him and Kendall split in like October/November. Things were actually going pretty well between them, he liked her personality and her sex appeal and that she was someone heavily desired he could show off especially with Kendall and Devin being a thing, she was good in bed too. She liked his laid back and cocky attitude and the fact that he spoilt her and treated her like a queen/prize. He sent her flowers and bought her jewelry. He also had a huge dick and was the best sex she'd ever had. Things were going well and she even started posting the gifts he sent on her stories like flowers and some jewelry, they were about to soft launch the relationship but everything going on with Tory made that all stop and the relationship was dead before it truly began.
Lily and Ben: They're not dating, Ben hooks up with her because when she's around him she basically worships the ground he walks on. She's wanted to hook up with an athlete for a while and Ben is one of the sexier one's so getting with him was like hitting the jackpot for her. At the start Ben hooked up with both her and her gymnast friend Olivia but that stopped and now it's mostly Lily when she's around. Ben still hooks up with other girls and is being a massive hoe but Lily doesn't care she knows they're not exclusive.
Tinashe and Ben: They did hookup, it got more serious after the Maya break up with Tinashe staying with him in Brooklyn at times. Tinashe was elated, thinking that things could go back to the way they used to be but Ben didn't see it that way.
Ashely the Reporter and Ben: That was also a thing, he'd hookup with her after games if she was in NY and they might've even been spotted having dinner together but nobody recognised her so she wasn't ID'd. That was just a one sided situationship so don't dwell on it.
Other girls: He did try and hook up with Eiza but had no success, I can't confirm the Sommer Ray stuff but it wouldn't shock me they were around each other during NY fashion week. He's also hooked up with girls and models in NY, he's being a massive hoe right now.
Meg and Ben Part 2????: Meg and Ben recently got in touch again, I think Ben's afraid of being alone and Maya was the girl he was most in love with. The headlines about her with other men(all false apparently) made him reach out to her. They've been quietly trying to rekindle things, Ben's unfollowed a bunch of insta models and Lily hasn't been around him for a while. Maya has also stopped letting herself be seen with other men like Giveon or Stormzy and they might work things out. However they also tried to get back together in summer but it didn't work so who knows. Just don't be too surprised if Baya returns.
That's all, sorry for the insanely long essay. Ciao for now.
thank you for this!! i hope you’ve been good but i’m glad you’re back to share. i don’t even know where to start like??? so ben didn’t actually ruin a relationship this time? maya why would you cheat lmfao. & meg and ben would’ve been an interesting couple but a cute balance. tinashe still going out sad but what’s new.

Tory Lanez Found Guilty Of Shooting Megan Thee Stallion!
Tumblr media
A Los Angeles jury has found Tory Lanez guilty of three charges in the trial for the July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. However, the Los Angeles County jury deemed him guilty on all three counts in the courtroom on Friday afternoon.
Related: Megan Thee Stallion SLAMS Drake For Claiming She Lied About Being Shot!
As Perezcious readers will recall, Lanez was accused of shooting Megan in the foot after the duo had an argument while driving through the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles. While taking the stand in the trial, according to Billboard, Megan testified she had been walking out of the car when Lanez shot her in the foot:
“I started walking away and I hear Tory yell, ‘dance, b**ch.’ I froze. I just felt shock. I felt hurt. I looked down at my feet and I see all of this blood.”
Lanez did not testify on his own behalf during the trial. Evidently, prosecutors made their case well enough, though, and the jury came back with the guilty verdict. From the sound of things, Tory might be lucky prosecutors didn’t go for attempted murder!
Now, the sentencing phase of the trial will come next. According to KCBS, Lanez faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years in prison. Per CNN, he also faces deportation back to his native Canada following the prison sentence.

Following the guilty verdict, the rapper’s family reportedly caused a disturbance in the courtroom. According to Law & Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff, who was reporting from the courtroom on Friday, Lanez’s father stood up in the aftermath of the verdict and yelled:
“This is a wicked system!”
As you can see (below), Lanez was remanded immediately following the conviction, and sheriff’s deputies rushed to regain control of the courtroom through the chaos:
Tory Lanez’s father stood up guest and screamed. “This is a wicked system!” He screamed at the prosecutors that they are evil and they know exactly what they did here. His stepmother stood up screaming and yelling. Father was yelling about “Roc Nation.”

One woman in the gallery held up her hand as Tory's father was screaming about Roc Nation and wicked injustice, repeating "In the name of Jesus!" Deputies were forcing them all out into the hallway and telling the gallery we had to stay seated.
— Meghann Cuniff (@meghanncuniff) December 23, 2022
Right now reporters are in the media area on the 12th floor hoping to get comment from someone. (The 12th floor is the only area where we can record and take photos.) I went outside to see what the scene is like – lots of people but Tory's family isn't around.

Megan Thee Stallion’s attorney, Alex Spiro, also released a brief statement saying the jury “got it right” with the conviction.
The attorney also noted how Friday afternoon’s verdict means “there is justice for Meg” coming now more than two years after the shooting occurred:
Tory Lanez’s father stood up guest and screamed. “This is a wicked system!” He screamed at the prosecutors that they are evil and they know exactly what they did here. His stepmother stood up screaming and yelling. Father was yelling about “Roc Nation.”

Wow.
Reactions, Perezcious readers? Did YOU expect Tory to be convicted??

Long Rant about the Tory Lanez thing and a little Amber heard stuff
bc now that Meg has won it really is so fucking crazy how easy it is to control the masses like Tory Lanez is a known liar with DOCUMENTED history of unjustified violence and rage. And I love a conspiracy theory but like it’s a fucking joke how they were able to fool people that this was a big conspiracy from Roc Nation because he owns the masters to his songs no one listens to. And ofc losers like Drake with his dying career hopped on the band wagon too. And it’s crazy bc he honestly could have won public opinion if he wasn’t so hubris. Like if Tory Lanez didn’t go on a proven propaganda campaign people would probably automatically slut shame Megan and even with him still being found guilty he would have probably not even had to apologize for people to cry about how everyone makes mistakes
But no. And I’m kinda glad in a selfish way now that things played out how they did. Because I feel with more evidence of what actually happened it really just shows how fucking silly the mental gymnastics to somehow frame Megan the Stallion as the villain in the situation truly are. like for all the discussions about Megan Thee Stallion being a liar how come everyone conveniently forgets when Tory Lanez denied the shooting even happened? How is that not a data point towards guilt, but some literally unproven fan theory that Megan Thee Stallion slept with Tory Lanez means that she is lying about who shot her?
I am in shock by how feeble of an argument Tory’s lawyer made. Did Tory get his lawyer off Instagram? It honestly seemed like they felt just because he was so easily able to trick desperate blogs and people who fall for crypto scams, that that same tactic would work in a trial against freaking district attorneys with evidence to support the charges. Like I’m not even joking. The defence attorney literally goes on and on about who Megan Thee Stallion has had sex with and actually calls her a liar multiple times. What type of Everest College lawyer thinks it’s a good idea to slut shame and call the victim a liar in 2022???
Also the story that Tory’s defence is going for is that Megan’s friend, Kelsey, was the one who shot Megan after Megan and her got into a drunken fight over jealous of 5”3 Tory Lanez 🙄 and after Kelsey stole Tory’s gun and shot Megan in the foot, Tory wrestles the gun out of Kelsey’s hands and just randomly shoots multiple shots in the air???? Not only is it impossible based on the evidence (the audio of the shooting recorded five consecutive shots, no struggle, no pause, five shots; not to mention everyone’s initial story from the beginning was that Tory Lanez shot Megan including Kelsey) but Why would Megan Thee Stallion cover for Kelsey????? Like do men just feel like women are Completely nonsensical people cuz like why would she lie for Kelsey’s sake if everything she said happened happened?? Because the fucking defence Spend so much time painting Megan Thee Stallion as someone who is jealous and that’s just attacked Kelsey for no reason because she’s a belligerent ratchet drunk but like how How does that fit into the narrative that she would protect Kelsey by framing Tory??? Literally none of the attempts to assassinate Megan Thee Stallion’s character really did anything to dispute Tory was not guilty of the crimes he was charged with. And like 2 of the charges were for illegal gun charges and like the defence spends the whole time literally calling Meg a liar.
I think Tory Lanez is just one of those black men who get away with a lot of shit because they can talk their way out of it. Like they just use a lot of arguments that barely make sense but they will just refuse to admit any fault so most people fold. I think he thought if he got to the media first he could influence people enough that it could reach one of the jurors. And like that’s like totally what people like Johnny Depp did.
It’s so fucking crazy how openly celebrities are able to control the mind of the average person’s perception on reality so much that they start believing wholeheartedly in shit that doesn’t make sense if you take any time to think about it. I Honestly I want to hope that this situation at least wakes up a lot of people to celebrity manipulation, how easily it is to manipulate people by just using their commonly held misogynist beliefs about women and especially black women, And just how toxic masculinity black men will speak all this shit about black power but will feel no way about victimizing black women.

My reads of 2020
My top ten is in a separate post but here are the rest of my reads!
5 Stars
If You Tell by Gregg Olsen
This is a memoir about the Shelley Knotek case. It focuses heavily on the relationship and struggles of her three daughters that were just children when Shelley’s tortures started. This book was fantastically written for such a morbid tale but be warned, it is not for the faint of heart. Trigger Warning: Abuse, torture, murder
Wayside School Beneath the Cloud of Doom by Louis Sachar
The Wayside school books were some of my favorite growing up. I made sure to reread them all before reading this one. It felt like no time had past at all. This is a great blast from the past that won’t disappoint old fans of the series.
4 Stars
All Your Twisted Secrets by Diana Urban
A group of seemingly unrelated students are invited to a scholar dinner that turns out to be a trapped. Once all the students arrive, they are locked in with a bomb and the the option to choose one person to die or they all die. As the night slips away, we learn the secrets and connections the students share that brought them to their predicament. Surprisingly not as suspenseful as you would think it would be and the secrets/bad things the students had done in the past really weren’t that twisted. Still it was very fun with an explosive ending.
Beyond the Shadowed Earth by Joanna Ruth Meyer
This is a sequel to Beneath the Haunting Sea and actually focused on the hero from the first’s books antagonist, Eda. Eda overthrow our hero from the first book as heir to the throne, blamed the king’s death on her and had her wrongfully banished to an island that launched the story of the first book. After that we never visited Eda again as the book focused on a different story instead of getting her kingdom back. So in this one, we see what happened to Eda after she took over. She is not a good person and the author isn’t afraid to make her unlikable at first, but also redeemable through her adventure and misfortunate.
Break Your Glass Slippers by Amanda Lovelace
Another book of poetry from Amanda Lovelace that delivers profound and touching poems.
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
A classic retelling of The Six Swans. This story takes place in a medieval/fantasy version of Ireland. Marillier is one of my favorite authors of fairytale retellings. This book is definitely a slow read but is gorgeously written and rich in character development. The story follows the fairytale with little variation. Trigger Warning: Rape (graphic depiction).
Lady Killers: Deadly Women Throughout History by Tori Telfer
Nonfictional account of female serial killers. I liked that this wasn’t written like a wikipedia page and took a more narrative approach. After the first few women, they all start to blend together though. Lots of poisoning happens. It would have been nice for some variety.
Malorie by Josh Malerman
The sequel to Bird Box that we probably didn’t need but was still good nonetheless. This one focuses more on Boy and Girl (now named thankfully) as teenagers and their view and challenges of the world they’ve grown up in. This book introduced new concepts that were interesting and creative. Somehow this managed to have a relatively happy and satisfying conclusion.
The Monstrous Feminine by Barbara Creed
A look at horror films through a feminist and psychological lens. I absolutely loved this book and the ideas it presents. The first half of the book takes a look at certain horror films (such as Carrie, the Exorcist, Alien, ect.) and “challenges this patriarchal view by arguing that the prototype of all definitions of the monstrous is the female reproductive body.” I liked the first section of the book more than the second part where I felt it focused too much on Freud and his findings and challenging them through horror films.
No Judgements by Meg Cabot
A cute, fluffy romance that takes place on a small island preparing for a category 3 hurricane. Bree finds herself forced to shelter with the island’s resident heartbreaker and they don’t get along. At first ;)
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Alicia, a famous painter and wealthy wife, shocked the world when she killed her husband and then stopped speaking afterwards. Now committed to a mental institute, Alicia is still refusing to speak. Theo is a therapist who jumps at the opportunity to work with Alicia and discover what really happened with her husband. Some of the twist was easy to pick up on at first but there was plenty that kept me guessing. This was a real page turner.
When We Were Magic by Sarah Gailey
Alexis and her group of friends have one very big thing in common; they are able to preform magic. One night, Alexis’ magic causes an accidental death of a classmate and the friends have to ban together to make things right. This was a creative and moving read. There’s plenty of magic but it almost comes secondary to the friendships and blossoming love between two of the friends.
The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson
Immanuelle lives in. a patriarchal society where the prophet’s word is law and the town is bordered by the evil and forbidden Darkwood. In the Darkwoods lurks four witches that seem to be calling out to Immanuelle. This book had fantastic world building and the story was unique and engaging. Sometimes it felt like we were just skimming the surface of possibilities and I felt that the book could have been longer or divided into a series. While the story wraps up in the end it does turn out there is going to be a sequel so I’m excited for that! Trigger Warning: Mentions of Rape
3.5 Stars
The Cousins by Karen M. McManus
Jonah, Aubrey and Milly never knew their rich grandmother. Her children were all cut off ominously with a note simply saying “you know what you did.” Now their grandmother is reaching out to the cousins and inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer. Lots of secrets and twists await them! This book was a lot of fun and probably my favorite of this author’s so far. Some of the twists border on zany but the overall tone of the book is a little zany so it works.
Horrid by Katrina Leno
After her father’s death, Jane and her mother are forced to move across the country into Jane’s mother’s childhood home. The manor has many secrets hidden within that Jane must face. The book was well written and intriguing. The books deal with grief and mental illness with a touch of the supernatural. I felt that the overall pacing felt off though. Very little happened in the beginning and then a lot happens in the last 30 or so pages and then it ended abruptly. It was a great concept though and I'm interested in more from this author!
One of Us is Next by Karen M. McManus
A sequel to the hit novel, One of Us is Lying. This book focuses on one of the character’s from the first books little sister and two of her classmates. The stakes in this one didn’t feel quite as serious as the first book but it was a fun read with interesting twists!
The Return by Rachel Harrison
Julie went missing, leaving her 3 best friends grappling with tragedy. Then, exactly two years later, she comes back with no memories. The four friends decide to spend a weekend together but something is not quite right with Julie. This book was creepy! However, it focuses more on the relationships of the four characters and dealings with grief with a touch of supernatural sprinkled throughout. It’s a gripping novel from start to finish that will keep you guessing.
3 Stars
All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda
Nicolette returns to her hometown for the first time in ten years after the mysterious disappearance of her best friend. Shortly after arriving another girl goes missing, forcing Nicolette to relive what happened years ago. What made this book a page turner was that it tells the story backwards. Once she gets to her hometown it starts on her 10th day and works backwards to what happened on the day of her arrival. Unfortunately, while the concept works at first it builds up to a lackluster and disappointing ending. If you were to put the book in the correct order, it wouldn’t work as there are stuff that is found out in the first few days that the reader doesn’t know about but the characters do that wouldn’t make sense in a narrative sense.
Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
From the outside Jack and Grace come off as the perfect couple but behind closed doors, everything changes. No twists here, Grace is Jack’s prisoner and she is desperately trying to get away. The book alternates between past and present about her current situation and how she got there. This involves a lot of suspension of disbelief. Jack is a cartoony type of villain with no real motive and he would never be able to get away with what he was doing. Grace is also not the smartest person, there were a lot of different ways she could have escaped but for the sake of the story she doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, this was still a suspenseful and fun read but also questionable and some points.
The Blue Salt Road by Joanne M. Harris
A quick, fairytale like story about a selkie who was tricked into becoming human and now longs to return to the sea. I feel like there was a message being preached in this story, but I can’t really pinpoint what it was. Regardless, this was a magical little read.
Clown in a Corn Field by Adam Cesare
Clown in the corn field is a slasher film put on page. It starts off like a typical YA novel and sets up a mystery as to who the clown is, but then the clown attacks at a party and the rest of the novel is that one night as the clown wrecks havoc and the teens have to escape. I think I wold have preferred and more drawn out mystery but fans of slasher films would really enjoy this!
Coral by Sara Ella
A sort of retelling of the Little Mermaid. Sort of. This book focuses on strong themes of mental health. The mermaid/fantasy side is minimal and almost completely disappears in the 2/3rds in to the novel. It was a slightly confusing read but had a powerful depiction of depression. Trigger Warning: Suicide
The Doll House Murders by Betty Ren Wright
A sad but sweet little mystery novel about a preteen girl who discovers a dark secret via an old dollhouse and its mysterious moving dolls. The subject matter was dark but the story was written for middle graders and thus mystery is handled with simplicity and strange charm to it.
Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson
The sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. This book hasn’t been released in the US yet but you can still get the British/original version on amazon which is what I did. This novel requires a stretch of disbelief and I didn’t think the mystery was as good as the first one. However, if you are a fan of the first one, you will still want to check this one out as well!
I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney
You definitely have to suspend your disbelief when you read this one. It's gripping and while some twists were easily guessed, the final one took me for a surprise. It's equal parts dark/chilling and cheesy/silly. I'm still left with a lot of questions after the ending. It makes the book fall apart when you think about it but if you just take it for what it is, an entertaining but cheesy thriller, you'll enjoy it.
The Harp of Kings by Juliet Marillier
This book features the children of the main characters from the Blackthorn and Grim series but you don’t need to read that series in order to read this one (though you should!). The book features three teenagers that are training to be warriors that are selected to go undercover in a nearby kingdom to find the stolen Harp of Kings before the new king’s coronation can take place. It was slow in the beginning and I felt there wasn’t much character development but it was an enjoyable read.
In Darkling Wood by Emma Carroll
Alice’s sick brother is getting a lung transplant and Alice is forced to stay with an estranged grandmother. Her grandmother lives on the edge of darkling wood, a place rumored to be filled with fairies. This book reminded me of a less dark version of When A Monster Calls. It deals with some of the same themes but this is more aimed towards children with a feel good ending.
The Lost Girls by Heather Young
In the summer of 1935, six year old Emily disappeared leaving her two older sisters and parents devastated. Sixty years later, both sisters are dead but one of them left behind her house and a notebook detailing what happened that summer for her grandniece, Justine. This book wasn’t so much of a thriller but focused more on Justine’s current issues with her daughters and ex boyfriend. I found the chapters with the notebook pages in between chapters more interesting than the modern story.
Love, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
I read the first Stargirl years ago but reread it before reading this one. This sequel doesn’t manage to capture the same charm as the first one did. The book is a series of letters that Stargirl writes (but doesn’t send) to Leo from the first book following her over the course of a year. I found it surprisingly boring at times and Stargirl seemed far to normal as compared to the first book. It was neat to see what she was up to after the first book but overall I didn’t think it was a necessary sequel.
A Psalm for Lost Girls by Katie Bayerl
Callie’s older sister was considered a saint in her small town before she tragically passed away. Now the city is trying to have her canonized, but Callie knows her sister wasn’t a saint, and the pressure is what ultimately killed, so now she’s on a mission to prove that her sister was just a normal girl. This book involved a missing child that Callie’s sister was supposed to find before she died but couldn’t. The mystery there was very predictable and was kind of on the back burner to Callie’s story. I think this would have been a more interesting story if it had been from the sister’s perspective and how it felt to be a teen saint while she was still alive.
The Rose Without a Thorn by Jean Plaidy
The story of Katherine Howard, the fifth wife of King Henry. I was looking for a novel that painted Katherine as sympathetic, as most adaptations make her out to be a seductress. This novel was strange as it read as a wikipedia entry in a narrative form. It was all telling and no showing and lacked real emotion. From the minor research I’ve done, it seems to be pretty accurate in terms of events that happened. Trigger Warning: Sexual Abuse featuring a minor (but isn’t presented as such)
Sadie by Courtney Summers
Sadie’s sister was murdered and she is determined to bring the killer to justice. In between each chapter about Sadie is a the transcript for a podcast that is covering the case, as well as Sadie’s future disappearance . This is a very popular book but to be honest, I'm not sure what the point was? The podcast was an interesting idea but it basically just rehashed everything we already knew. Not much was added by it. The ending just fizzles away and the story tended to drag in places. It was very well written though and I think I was just not the right audience for it.
The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher
A creepy retelling of Bluebeard. It reads like a YA in some places but Adult in others. It was definitely unsightly and out there but I found it confusing in some places. It has some great creepy imagery and slight body horror to it.
The Supervillain and Me by Danielle Banas
Abby’s brother is a superhero beloved by the whole crime ridden town. But when a supervillain comes into town, Abby finds her paths crossing with him again and again. Okay, so the supervillain wasn’t even a villain and the reason for wanting Abby to help him was not a very good one. The book is mostly about the romance between the two which was nice but nothing spectacular. I found myself more interested in the musical Abby was starring in. It was about a cannibalistic royal family whose oldest son falls in love with a servant and he has to save her from being eaten by his family. Now THAT sounded interesting!
Winterdream by Chantal Gadoury
A Nutcracker retelling. This was a sweet retelling of the story. It didn’t add much to the original tale or the ballet but it was a good winter read to get into the spirit of Christmas.
They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman
Freshman year, Jill’s best friend was killed by her boyfriend., Graham Now it’s senior year and Jill is the president of an elite school club but someone keeps texting her about Graham’s innocence and she can’t keep herself from diving deeper into the mystery to unearth what really happened to her friend. Gripping and twisty, this book was a solid teen mystery!
Not Rated
I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid
I read this almost a year ago and I still don’t know what to think about it. I can’t decide if the story was genius or simple shock value. Did the twist make sense? I don’t know honestly. I read this before I even knew there was a netflix adaptation coming and I while I read this book in one sitting, I only made it halfway through the movie. I personally don’t think it translated well to screen. If you are looking for a quick disturbing read with an ending you WILL NOT be able to guess, then I highly recommend this one.
The Merry Spinster: Tales of Everyday Horror by Mallory Ortberg
There’s a pretty popular post on his webiste that has a link to a horrifying retelling of Curious George. This is a collection of retellings/unrelated short stories by the same author. I didn’t read all of the stories in this because some of them were just too difficult to get through and confusing. However, the dark retellings of fairy tales and children books were really enjoyable. I particularly liked the retellings of The velveteen rabbit, the frog prince and the six swans. I think they can all be found online and not just in this collection.
Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer
Is it good? No. Is it garbage? Yes. Did I still read it any way? Yes. Team Edward for life.

PMB Favorites: My Favorite Albums of 2020
2020 was largely year of changes that brought on a heightened sense of stress and anxiety in my life (and a lot of peoples lives as well) but when I needed it music was there to provide escapism or to color the grim and uncertain mood the year tended to bring. Here are the albums that were the soundtrack to my 2020(In no particular order). I welcome all musical recommendations.
Tumblr media
. Squarepusher- Be Up, Hello: Squarepusher returned early in 2020 with a hard-hitting drum and bass album, filled with bright textures and poly-rhythms. The albums both exhilarating and intense listen at times. Love “Speedcrank” and “Voltrack”
Tumblr media
Oneohtrix Point Never- Magic Oneohtrix Point Never: Released in the 4th quarter of the year Oneohtrix Point Never came through with an album strongly inspired by his love of radio growing up Magic 106.7 to be specific. The result is an album of diverse styles of pop, rock, hip-hop etc blended into the plunder-phonics that Oneohtrix fans have come to know, great project.
Tumblr media
Lady Gaga- Chromatica: Chromatica is Lady Gaga's triumphant return to dance-pop after getting personal with Joanne (2016) and doing the Star is Born soundtrack. Chromatica, like Gaga's early work, is packed with hits and catchy tunes, i.e., the Ariana Grande assisted "Rain on Me" and "Stupid love," a great pop album and one of my favorite albums from Lady Gaga thus far.
Tumblr media
TOPS-I Feel Alive: Tops are a band that has been progressing with each release. This album is a beautiful mix of indie-pop/dream pop that features the summery title track and the brisk synth-driven "Colder and Closer." It is one of the better indie-pop releases this year.
Tumblr media
Dream Wife-So When You Gonna...”:  Dream Wife typically has a high octane and raucous sound. So When You Gonna... calms things down a bit. They go more in-depth on this project with songs about keeping sexual agency, not seeking validation from others, and staying true to yourself. It has nearly the energy of their previous self titled LP but with lyrical depth.
Tumblr media
Hinds-The Prettiest Curse: Hinds have gotten better with every album. The Prettiest Curse is their best thus far. The Prettiest Curse finds them expanding their sound with more lavish production and some synth-pop in there to go along with their garage rock sound. A few Great tracks on here but "Good Bad Times" and "Take Me Back" are amongst my favorites.
Tumblr media
Nas- King’s Disease: Nas's Kings Disease maybe the best Nas release since at least Untitled and probably since the early 00s. A lot of that has to do with producer Hit-Boy who provided Nas the canvas to create a wise and timely album. "Ultra Black," "Til the War is Won" with Lil Durk, and "10 Points" are amongst my favorites on the album.
Tumblr media
Westside Gunn- Pray for Paris: Griselda Records was dominant in 2020. Westside Gunn is a big part of that in that he released two great albums this year. The first of which was the menacing but luxurious Pray for Paris. The beats are hard and classy, and Westside's rhymes are both street and opulent/artful. "$500 Ounces", "Shawn vs. Flair," "George Bando," and "327″ are essential.
Tumblr media
Westside- Gunn- Who Made The Sunshine: The second great album by Westside was Who Made The Sunshine. This album is a darker ominous project that sounds like quintessential Griselda. Built for grey skies and dark times, it was great on overcast days late this year. "The Butcher and the Blade," "98 Sabers and "All Praises" are my favorites on this one.
Tumblr media
Conway The Machine- From a King to a God:  Conway The Machine's From a King to a God may be the best album from the camp this year. It's an album that spans both street tales, introspection, and some social commentary. It's also found Conway getting as personal as he's gotten any album thus far. The album features high-level production from Hit-Boy, Daringer, DJ Premier, etc. "Spurs 3″, "Dough & Damani", are my favorites here.
Tumblr media
Benny The Butcher-Burden of Proof: Rounding out the Griselda releases to make my 2020 favorites is Benny The Butcher's Burden of Proof. Burden of Proof is handled 100% by Hit-Boy, who gives Benny's hard-nosed rhymes a bit of pristine sheen without taking anything away from Benny's style. There's no real reaching here, and it ends up being an album that shows Benny can be versatile. "One Way Flight," "Timeless," "War Paint," and "Legend" rank amongst my favorites on the album.
Tumblr media
Freddie Gibbs- Alfredo:  Been following Freddie Gibbs since Pinata with Madlib in 2014, and it seems as though he hasn't missed since. I loved his 2019 project Bandanna, and Alfredo is another excellent project. Alchemist handles the production here and does a great job providing a backdrop for Freddie's fluid and vivid rhymes. There's the measured reminiscing of "Babies & Fools," the soaring "1985″, the shadowy menace of "God is Perfect," essential hip-hop listens for 2020.
Tumblr media
Royce Da 5′9-Allegory: Royce Da 5′9 follows up his excellent Book of Ryan (not to mention PRhyme with DJ Premier) with Allegory. While his last album was decidedly a personal effort, this one finds him using his lyrical gymnastics on being the best and spitting knowledge on what's going on in rap and in general. "I Play Forever," "Tricked," "Overcomer" are the favorites here.
Tumblr media
Princess Nokia- Everything is Beautiful: Everything is Beautiful is in my opinion, the better of two albums; Princess Nokia released in the early part of 2020, an album that finds Princess Nokia reflecting on what made her coming up in her childhood. Elastic flows and charisma with eclectic production from the likes of Adam Pallin and Tony Seltzer. Favorite cuts on this are "Green Eggs and Ham," "Wash and Sets," and "The Conclusion."
Tumblr media
Logic-No Pressure:  Logic came full circle on this album from 2014 Under Pressure to his current and (for now) final release No Pressure. No Pressure may be his best album. It's consistent all the way through, it wears its influences on its sleeve than previous albums, and it's not a knee-jerk reaction album done based on what people want from him, and it's not corny. It feels closest to pure Logic that sounds like he's just spitting about where he's at in life(dadbod) and finding peace within himself. I love this LP.
Tumblr media
Jeezy- Recession 2: Jeezy's one of those rappers that is just solid, you know what to expect, thunderous beats, hood motivation music. Even still, Jeezy's music continues to mature as he does, touching on the ills of the ghetto, police brutality, and putting your monetary priorities in the right place. "Modern Day," "Back," "Almighty Black Dollar" are amongst my favorites here.
Tumblr media
Roc Marciano- Mt. Marci:  Roc Marciano's Mt. Marci is a darkly beautiful album. The album features collages of different soundscapes that are generally classy and ominous. Of course, Roc's stoic monotone flow continuously reeling off-kilter references and punchlines is the album's centerpiece. Roc's flow is just cold-blooded. "Covid Cough," "Downtown 81″, "Wheat 40s", and "Butterfly Effect" are among the livest tracks on this album, in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Run The Jewels-RTJ4: Killer Mike and EL-P kill it every time they drop, and RTJ4 is no different. It's another album of high octane/great beats from EL-P and essential bars from Killer Mike and EL-P. As you'd expect, RTJ speaks to lots of issues going on today while at the same time going crazy to one-up each other bar for bar. "Ooh La La," "Out of Sight," "Never Look Back," and "Pulling the Pin" are the highlights of the project to my ears.
Tumblr media
Megan Thee Stallion-Good News: Megan Thee Stallion has been dope since Tina Snow.  Whether it's Fever or Suga, you can expect both skill and top-notch charisma and confidence from Meg’. If you've heard those projects, you know you can expect to hear Meg taking explicit agency of her sexuality, partying, rappin' her ass off, and generally commanding these tracks. There's also the drama with Tory Lanez, but the album, fortunately, isn't weighed down with ways about that. Favorites on this album include "Shots Fired," "Savage(Remix), "Movie," "Girls In The Hood."
Tumblr media
21 Savage & Metro Boomin- Savage Mode II: 21 Savage and Metro Boomin's original Savage Mode was bleak and brooding enough to launch 21 Savage careers, and this one is similarly cold-hearted. Still, there are more varied styles of savagery here, whether we're talking the 80′s inspired "Steppin' On Niggas” or the more pop-orientated "Mr. Right Now" or the inspirational/introspective "Said N Done."

I need to post this and feel free to unfollow me if you disagree. This is my solid opinion, the only way that it can change is if there is mind altering facts which come to the surface and that would be, straight from the source, who is Tory. I am also putting a disclaimer on here that I am NOT racist, my best friend, who is female is African American and I consider that culture to be very creative.
I will support tory regardless of anyone else’s opinions. If you disagree, keep scrolling. Each to his own. I have met him twice, have his John handcock inked into me and he knows it to because I initially had him do me up the first time I met him. He carries a very different vibe to him and I’m gonna say this again, it has never been about weapons. I have been a fan of his now for going on 6 years. There is no other performer who can get a crowd turnt like him. I’ve been front row for 2 of the 3 times, one of which I was holding onto the railings for my dear life cause the crowd was shifting so hard but it was mad epic.
I also have seen megan the stallion live and have been front row for that show and she’s a good performer, she can perform a lot better than most females. I found out about her when she had jumped in Wales joint of “pole dancer” back in 2017? Something like that.
What doesn’t sit right with me though is that she started showcasing all these gifts from high end performers with longevity and I get its for legal reasons but with saying that a dude shot you but ain’t no names given it just looks off. I’m not saying I condone or promote domestic violence, I have worked with convicted felons who have been charged with stuff like that and who are of color. Many are failing to realize that with her “not naming the shooter” it’s shifting blame all on Tory like his side doesn’t even matter. That goes with the saying “assume” makes an ass out of you and me. Tory is still a human being and he deserves to let his side of the story be known. Now without him talking is actually smart but with those who are so quick go assume and start harassing him without even knowing the full story, especially for those who have taken it upon themselves to text Tory and harass him. If your doing that, you are foolish as hell because he can take that and sue you for defamation especially since he’s not talking. He doesn’t owe anyone an explanation atleast not until he is ready. That’s why if you are or we’re getting texts from him, does he send you the “terms of use” text message before anything. I read the terms for that community texting so yes he can take anyone who is threatening or harassing him by defamation to court. It’s common sense.
If your a hardcore stallion fan, please exit this post because I will not respond let alone I will block you. EVERYONE has a right to their own opinion and for having personal interactions with Tory along with his music getting me through some tough shit on many occasions, will someone else alter my opinion of Tory except that of himself, Tory.
Meg is a great performer and she is strong willed and I respect her but what she’s not able to do is milk my boys reputation out for dry by seeking attention because she is getting showered with gifts and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way now. The shit is like politics, one side is Tory’s fan base, the other side is Megan’s fan base and the people in the middle either don’t know who the two are or they just don’t care and it’s a constant push-pull situation.
If the two were dating, cool ; I really don’t care because I see both as equal human beings and although megan came and addressed her situation still doesn’t change the fact that Tory is any less of a human being.
Like I said, the only one who can change my mind of my opinion of Tory, is himself and when he’s ready go talk, he will talk. Simple. Until then, it’s ☂️ONEUMBRELLAMOB☂️

Pansy Division songs I wish were SPN music videos:
Life Lovers - Dean & Cas domestic endgame, brief shots of Crowley or Benny and Daphne or Meg but ultimately a toes in the sand, middle finger to their dads tribute to choosing each other and making the rules up as they go.
Kevin - A look at Cas through the years as he learns about love, sex, pizza men and babysitters, and realizes he’s in love with Dean. Shots of him with Mandy and fearfully gulping down beer on his last night on earth, ignoring everyone calling him pretty or attractive, and ends with his love declaration to Dean. We're all in the dark / Because Kevin won't talk for ending with 15x18 or a happy reversal, warm light shining on Dean’s face as Cas calls him in 13x05.
Kevin - Better yet, tribute video to Kevin Tran.
Mistakes - A fuck you to every bad thing in the finale. Sam’s wig! Blurry wife! Killing Kansas the band for a concert! Vamp clowns! Etc. etc.
It’s Just a Job -  Dean’s POV about Cas in Four Letter Word for Intercourse fanvid.
Flower - Jacting joices. Dean POV or dual. Cue the clenched hand scene after Cas cleans up post-Purgatory. All the eyefucking. The Hays Code sex scenes. Lingering touches and Dean looking at Cas in Heaven Can’t Wait. Worth it just for Cas in Jimmy Novak’s vessel with the lines I just want your fresh young Jimmy / Sliding, slamming, ramming in me
Deep Water - Teen Dean and John Winchester’s A+ parenting.
Some of My Best Friends - Dean tells him he has a family when John says he wishes Dean had a normal life in Lebanon. Stanford’s #1 Ally™ Sam sticks up for Dean, Cas, their found family with Jack (”I have more dads than most”) as well as Charlie, Rowena, Crowley, Max Banes, Claire & Kaia, etc. Tribute to the queer characters we know and love. Tribute to kicking John Winchester’s ass.
Real Men - (Tori Amos or Joe Jackson would work, too) - 100% jender studies and a look at Dean’s complicated relationship with gender, bisexuality, and who he wants to be vs. who he thinks he should.
Rock & Roll Queer Bar - finale denial at its finest, Deancas why lamp retired hunter endgame supremacy. Dean running Rocky’s Bar with Cas, the scene of them dancing together, and Sam with Eileen instead of Blurry Wife.
Something Beautiful - All the times Cas died and Dean couldn’t cope.
Sweet Insecurity - Realistic take on Dean after Chuck’s gone and he gets Cas back. Focused on his worries about who he is and what he wants to do next and how to make things work now that they’re not swinging from crisis to crisis. Cue bunker fluff, movie nights in the Dean Cave, and road trips once he’s done panicking or Cas reassures him they’ll work it out.
Breaking the Law - Sam and Dean montage of committing felonies left and right. Just a fun clicky romp through them being criminals, grifters, and drifters.
Dick of Death - I’m so sorry. Sam and every dead love interest. Has to be done. Couldn’t resist the low hanging fruit.

Got expelled from Hogwarts in her sixth year for using an unforgivable curse on another student who was bullying/harassing Elias, but doesn't regret it all.
Finishes up her studies at a small non-boarding wizarding school in Romania, where she lives with her Uncle Charlie and his queerplatonic partner, Barnaby, and their cat, Wick

Megan Thee Stallion Opened Up About The Tory Lanez Shooting Case For ‘The Final Time’ In A Touching New Essay
Walker
April 18, 2023 7:15 AM PST
Tumblr media
Megan Thee Stallion, as part of a cover story for Elle Magazine, shared a powerful new personal essay that finds her reflecting on the Tory Lanez assault trial. (He was found guilty last year following the 2020 incident.)
via: Rolling Stone
“I understand the public intrigue,” Megan continued, “but for the sake of my mental health, I don’t plan to keep reliving the most traumatic experience of my life over and over again. I’m choosing to change the narrative because I’m more than just my trauma.”
The wide-ranging essay opens with Megan’s declaration that, after reflecting on the events of the last three years, she no longer wants to call herself a victim but a survivor. “Not only did I survive being shot by someone I trusted and considered a close friend, but I overcame the public humiliation of having my name and reputation dragged through the mud by that individual for the entire world to see,” she said.
The jokes, memes, conspiracy theories, and reputational attacks, Meg said, were tough to deal with, especially when some of her “peers in the music industry piled on.” She added, “Instead of condemning any form of violence against a woman, these individuals tried to justify my attacker’s actions.”
Behind the scenes, Megan said, she “started falling into a depression,” even as she continued to release music and tour. Working on new music was difficult as Megan struggled to figure out what to rap about, and she’d often catch herself crying moments before having to take the stage at some public event. When Lanez was found guilty at the end of the last year, Meg said the verdict was “more than just vindication for me, it was a victory for every woman who has ever been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against them.”
She added: “Time after time, women are bullied with backlash for speaking out against their attackers, especially when they’re accusing someone who is famous and wealthy. They’re often accused of lying or attempting to make money from their trauma. From firsthand experience, I know why a lot of women don’t come forward. Any support and empathy that I received was drowned out by overwhelming doubt and criticism from so many others.”
In the months since the verdict came in, Megan said she’s been “healing.” Acknowledging that the “physical and mental scars from this entire ordeal will always sting,” she said getting off social media, taking time for herself, praying, and spending time with close friends and her dogs, has helped her feel more at peace and prepared to resume her life. She also touched on how she’s learned to set stronger boundaries, whether it has to do with who she lets into her life, or “saying ‘no’ to protect my peace.”
Near the end of the essay, Megan also mentioned that she’s found her love of music again, writing, “I’m excited to get back into music, because I have been so transformed. I’m playing around with new songs and new sounds that I can’t wait for everyone to hear.”
In a final note, the rapper said: “We can’t control what others think, especially when the lies are juicier than the truth. But as a society, we must create safer environments for women to come forward about violent behavior without fear of retaliation. We must provide stronger resources for women to recover from these tragedies physically and emotionally, without fear of judgment. We must do more than say her name. We must protect all women who have survived the unimaginable.”
Megan’s essay comes a few weeks after Lanez filed a motion for a new trial in the shooting case, though a judge has yet to rule on the motion. Lanez was supposed to be sentenced sometime in April, though it appears that date may be further delayed as his new motion is considered.

Remember when ppl found out about Tory having a relationship with both Kelsey & Meg, and ppl used that as if that was a justifiable reason for Meg being shot? And no one was really calling Tory out for "smashing the homies"?
So they are claiming MBJ & Damson are close friends (obviously they were just cordial), so why are they mad at Lori? By the same logic they used with Meg, shouldn't they be mad at Damson?.. See what I mean about blatant hypocrisy??? Smh
!!! Yup he got praises for it now they’re losing it when it’s the other way around

The Intersectionality that is being black, and being a woman.
As the story made headlines, many celebrities and fans poured out support for the young rapper, and yet many more mocked her with a clear lack of sympathy. They victim blamed her and attempted to justify Tory’s actions by using her curvy build, sexually free persona music, and height (5’10) compared to a (5’3) Tory Lanez. I was shocked by the initial response of the media, as they ridiculed her, turning her grief into memes and further prolonging her trauma. This was further worsened when Tory Lanez released a new album “Daystar '' in which he addressed the allegations against him-which he denied. The very fact that he could deny the incident with all the evidence so clear against him, especially when Megan’s lawyer released that the shells matched those found in Tory’s gun. Further yet, what was even more astonishing was the fact that many of his fans who listened to this album, commented how nice the songs were- and made slanderous remarks about Megan in the comment section under Lanez Instagram-against support for Meg. This clearly shows me as a black woman, that the interpersonal violence and emotional and physical pain we endure remain invisible to the public eye.  Social Media turned this young woman’s shooting into a joke, and source of amusement. In the same situation, had it been another woman- as matter of fact, had it been Kylie Jenner who was also present in the car that night; the public would have been far more sympathetic. Black women deserve the same energy, respect and protection. We will gain neither until we are recognized as human beings with valid emotions, and people stand up for and with us. This is not to say that only black women are victimized in this way, or even that only black women have faced violence- but rather to point out that compared to our non-black counterparts, in navigating the violence against us; we are also simultaneously fighting against multiple institutions of oppression that intersect.

No one could accuse James Norton of allowing himself to be typecast. The 34-year-old has played a vicar-turned-sleuth in Grantchester, a violent rapist in Happy Valley, and the aristocratic hero of War & Peace. He’s also number three in the betting to be the new James Bond. And he’s just about to add to his library of opposites with two new roles: the staid tutor John Brooke, who marries Emma Watson’s Meg March, in the star-studded new film adaptation of Little Women; and the flamboyant real-life figure at the centre of the Profumo scandal – Stephen Ward – in BBC One’s The Trial of Christine Keeler.
“Ward was 100 per cent the fall guy,” says Norton, sporting a dark-blue crushed velvet jacket and settling in on a chaise longue in an upmarket London hotel. The actor looks every bit as debonair as you’d expect for a man playing the high-society osteopath with connections that ran from Soho to the aristocracy. “The government needed to clear their own name by tarnishing someone else’s.”
It was Ward who introduced the 46-year-old Secretary of State for War John Profumo (Ben Miles) to 19-year-old model and showgirl Christine Keeler (Sophie Cookson) at a party at Lord Astor’s country house estate of Cliveden in 1961. It led to an affair that exposed Profumo as a security threat – thanks to Keeler’s simultaneous relationship with a Russian naval attaché.
Keeler and her friend Mandy Rice-Davies (Ellie Bamber) often stayed at Ward’s London mews flat, and the 50-year-old former public schoolboy would later be prosecuted for living off immoral earnings in a dubious case of establishment revenge. The two had contributed small amounts to household expenses. Ward committed suicide after the judge’s summing up amounted to a direction to the jury to find him guilty.
Amanda Coe’s stylish, evocative drama establishes Keeler and Rice-Davies as sexually liberated young women for their time. Does Norton think they were victims? “Ward definitely used certain relationships he had with young, beautiful women to ingratiate himself with the wealthy elite,” he says. “He also groomed them to a point… but it’s too simplistic to say he was a man who groomed young women. His relationship with these young girls was often a very positive one, he would enable them, take them out of poverty.” Keeler was from a disadvantaged background and fitted the mould of the “alley cats” Ward liked to befriend. Norton gives a terrific performance as the sleazy Pygmalion.
“I really warmed to him… you fall in love with these characters, and Stephen Ward was way ahead of his time, so brave in how he lived his life and expressed himself, his sexual tastes, his flirting with cross-dressing, in a world that was still incredibly repressed.
“And the final reckoning was that Stephen Ward had somehow corrupted these Tory ministers and it was all his fault, which is absurd.”
I wonder if Norton, the son of a retired college lecturer and a mother who taught medical ethics, is as dazzled by the truly posh as Ward was.
“Wealth or class are not things that I’m particularly dazzled by,” he says. “I am by talent.” He cites Little Women director Greta Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach, who made Netflix’s Marriage Story, as an example.
Norton himself is part of a powerhouse acting couple, with British star Imogen Poots, whom he became close to when they starred together in a play in 2017. They seem very happy. “It’s good,” he says, but adds, “my personal life is very normal, I have a house in Peckham, my [parents] live in Yorkshire. There's very little glamour and scandal.”
There was a little bit of the latter when his previous girlfriend, actress Jessie Buckley, said their break-up had been “acrimonious”, but Norton is far too canny to add fuel to that particular fire.
Similarly, he won’t comment on the rumours linking him to James Bond, insisting they are “based on nothing”. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have strong opinions on the series in general.
“We all know that with James Bond, large parts of it, and all the versions of it in the past, are now antiquated and it needs to be updated,” he says. “And I think that Barbara Broccoli and the producers are very aware of that. Bringing in people like Phoebe Waller-Bridge can only help.”
Might the spy be a little too one-dimensional for someone who has taken on so many interesting parts? Daniel Craig, who is stepping aside after the latest film No Time To Die comes out in April, has often seemed unhappy with the role.
“If I was to take on a franchise,” Norton says, “I would always want to complement it with something completely different.”
He has just taken on a big HBO sci-fi series, The Nevers, he says, and is in negotiations with the BBC about doing a second series of McMafia. We chat about the fact that the first series attracted a measure of criticism, including some for his own performance as Alex Godman, the scion of a Russian mafia family drawn reluctantly into the underworld. “There was an article about the three wooden faces of James Norton,” he says with a laugh.
How did he take it?
“It’s a rite of passage that you have [bad reviews],” he replies. “Ultimately, it’s an art form which is deeply subjective and you’re never going to please everyone.” The character was intended to be “inscrutable and calcified”, he adds. Nevertheless, he admits he might play it slightly differently second time around.
“Yeah, possibly,” he says. “But, then again, you don’t want to pander to the people who didn’t like it. There's so much content out there that people who don't like it can go and find something else.”
One of the factors that Norton and director James Watkins agreed upon when sketching out Godman’s background was his public school education. Norton is a public school boy too; a former pupil of Ampleforth, the leading Catholic boarding school which was found to have covered up the sexual abuse of scores of children in a devastating report in 2018.
Norton never saw any wrongdoing during his time there, but does admit to being “quite badly bullied” and credits one of the monks - a Father Peter - with helping him get through it. “I was able to go and just talk to him and he basically became my therapist,” says Norton. “I just sort of sobbed my eyes out.”
Has it left a mark? “It probably has a bit,” he says. “It’s not defined me, but it has informed who I am. I’m hyper aware if someone is being in any way ostracised on a film set, for example.”
On Little Women, he found himself on set with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep and Laura Dern. The film’s a deliriously romantic and sentimental take on the novel’s sibling rivalries, but it takes its duty to Louisa May Alcott’s study of the economic subjection of women seriously. “It's important for us to go back to those punctuation marks in the struggle towards equality and recognise how far we've come, but also how we're not quite there yet,” Norton says.
He and Watson were given the task of writing their own marriage vows for the film, which he says he laboured over but arrived with them unfinished to discover that Watson had already written hers and they were beautiful. He was just young enough to read the early Harry Potter books, he notes, but has only seen a couple of the films – “Don’t tell Emma.”
He plays Chalamet’s tutor – did he fancy the 23-year-old as everyone else seems to right now? He smiles. “He’s a beguiling and bizarre, unique force of nature,” he says. Norton had been wondering about wearing a suit to today’s photoshoot, but is glad he didn’t as he’s just bumped into the younger man in a Gorillaz tee-shirt and sunglasses. “Whenever he’s around, I feel about 10 years older than I am.”
Among all its bold women, I wonder if his own character – John Brooke – is just a teeny bit dull. He laughs. “He’s a little quieter than some of the other characters, but that allowed me to just witness all these great women actors. It was incredible.”
There’s certainly nothing dull or quiet about the character he plays in the film Mr Jones, which is released in February. It’s the surprisingly little-known story of Gareth Jones, the journalist who uncovered the Holodomor – the man-made famine genocide inflicted by the Soviet Union upon Ukraine in 1932-33, which is estimated to have killed up to 7.5 million people. “He blew the whistle on the Soviet Union,” says Norton. “He was the first person to go [to Ukraine], and come back and tell the world.”
In the West, the economic crash of 1929 had led to the Great Depression. “Everyone was looking at the Soviet experiment thinking, ‘Oh, it's working’,” Norton says. “They were getting into bed with Stalin and trade deals were being made. And no one was calling them out. Until this one serious, bespectacled, earnest Welsh journalist got on a train and risked his life to blow the whistle.”
I wonder if those types of films can command a big enough audience to keep getting made? He accepts that independent cinema is in a period of shrinkage, but says, “while the audience for this type of film might not be as big as a Marvel movie, we have to protect those stories because film isn't just about escapism. It's also about education.”

Tory Lanez Asked About Megan Thee Stallion Shooting In Clubhouse Chat Room, Quietly Exits After
Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz83
Tory Lanez thought he could comfortably be up in a Clubhouse chat room without someone bringing up the elephant in the room? He was dead wrong.
Clubhouse, which is now all the wave thanks to Black creatives and is reportedly valued at $1 billion, is the new place to find your favorite Black entertainers as well. For whatever reason, the 5’3 varmint, Tory Lanez, found himself in a Clubhouse chat room on Tuesday night (Jan.2), thinking he was in a safe space.
Lanez has been moving like a vindicated man and probably thinks people have moved on from the July 2020 incident where he allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston rapper adamantly is standing by her claims that Lanez shot her and said recently the Toronto rapper would be going to jail in a Twitter rant following the false reporting of her dismissing the charges she never brought in the first place.
Y’all can’t tell when shit fake news? Y’all still don’t see an ABUSER picking with me ? The first court date got pushed back bc of the inauguration but I can’t wait until the MF FACTS come out ! Bitch you shot me AND MY STORY NOT CHANGING AND BITCH YOU GOING TO JAIL
— HOT GIRL MEG (@theestallion) January 21, 2021
Tuesday evening, a clip the moment when someone in the Clubhouse room didn’t want to miss the opportunity to press Lanez on the burning topic and asked the burning question, “Uhhh, why you shoot Meg?” There was a pause in the room. Then the room turned goofy with several members on the panel admonishing the man who asked Lanez about the Megan Thee Stallion situation, subsequently booting him from the room.

Understandably, Twitter was perplexed to see both men and shockingly women caping for Lanez, who couldn’t take the heat and bounced from the room after he was hit with that one pressing question.
Why grown ass men simping for Tory Lanez tho

The sicker part was that it was more females that was mad

We are just glad to see someone kept their foot on the neck of Lanez.
