THOU, THEE, THY, THINE. SAME THING RIGHT?

NO.

Although they seem very similar, Shakespeare would be in tears if he saw how most people mix them up. lets save William the misery and teach you when to correctly use thou, thy, and thine.

THOU

Thou = You (in subject form)

"Thou art killing me." "Art Thou crying?"

THEE

Thee = You (in object form)

"I want to kill thee." "My dog ate thee in my dream."

THY

Thy = Your (before a word that starts with a consonant)

"Thy mother." "Give me thy duck."

Thyself is used the same as any other thy+word combination like "thy mother" but without a space

"Take care of thyself."

THINE

Thine = Your (before a word that starts with a vowel)

"Thou art on thine own." "Thine answer hath satisfied mine query."

OR

Thine = Yours

“This is thine.” “The throne is thine, should thou choose to take it.”

And add two poor, powerless people who care about them and want better for and from them.

I think this parallel in the main two relationships is what I adore about this show so much, because it's the same story being told in incredibly similar yet wildly different ways. Because while Charn and Tinn at least have some agency and control over their lives, both Thaenthai and Thee are stuck and can't do a thing to change their situation (yet). Charn and Tinn are choosing to play this game for fun/power/(whatever Charn claims it to be) (on Charn's end) and justice (Tinn's), whereas Thaenthai and Thee are forced to play it (for the other) to survive.

I’m not much of an artist, and I suck at shading, but I just had to do something of Phee and Tech. I love them so much ❤️

In my newest one-shot, Changes, I gave them a son. His name is Hunter Racer Genoa, but everyone just calls him Racer. He’s got his father’s intelligence and his mother’s spunk. Oh, and let’s not forget that adorable head of curls :)

I started on this piece a week or so ago, but I’m an over-thinker and fretted over even the smallest details. Since then I’ve worked on more Bad Batch art that I might post. I’m addicted to creating anything AU where the Bad Batch is content and living life to the fullest on Pabu.

So I keep thinking, they/them notwithstanding as a perfectly fine solution on its own, that English already has an existing unused pronoun set that could easily fill the nonbinary pronoun gap that we keep trying to fill with e/em and ze/hir and bun/bunself, if we wanted to resurrect it.

Cause most neopronouns have at least one of the following issues:

unintuitive or non-obvious pronunciation

homophone with other words

unintuitive tenses

not obviously a pronoun

doesn't really fit in with the other pronoun sets

and of course, getting everyone to know about and agree to use a certain set is the biggest one

And while I can't solve the latter, and we get the new problem of making Thor sound like he's never talking to you directly instead of just being overly familiar/condescending in an old-fashioned way, I think there is some merit to bringing back thee/thine but as a third person singular pronoun this time.

Everyone already knows it's a pronoun and has a decent idea of how to pronounce and conjugate it, it doesn't overlap with any other words in writing or speech, it fits with the extant pronouns, since it was originally meant to be there.

he / him / his / his / himself she / her / her / hers / herself it / it / its / its / itself they / them / their / theirs / themself thou / thee / thy / thine / thyself

or

thee / thee / thy / thine / thineself if we wanted to parallel the others more and simplify a little.
