And just like that, it's spring. I took this pic last weekend. It is actually supposed to be a bit colder and rainy this weekend. Today is lovely - calm, bright, warmish. I need to go to the Barn, but staying home to help trim / prune trees is also a thing I should do. And l might get a Mule for my efforts. . Just to be clear, we have been dry all year, this was just a little celebration of one year WFH, and a little reward for getting a lot of pruning done. Still a lot more trimming to do... It is happening again. In late October of 2020 we had an early heavy snow that broke some trees - woke up to this yesterday morning. There are times when I have so many creative ideas, I can't move quickly enough to make them all happen. And there are times when that river runs a bit dry. These are staying home - flowers for the patio table - cool colors for a hot day. Still have a few flowers in the garden, highest temps have past for now - still in the 90s tho. #fromthekitchen - sort of. . Patio cooking. We stumbled upon this at Costco. We'd been looking for a patio heater, something that doesn't burn fossil fuel, and something that could be used for cooking were factors to help us make a choice. (I'd really like a Malm - but they are very pricey.) Down sides - if it is a windy day, burning isn't a great idea and except for this one evening last week, it has been constantly windy. Also, if what you are cooking is at all juicy (this was chicken breast marinated in spices and olive oil), that liquid will splatter thu the cooking grate (which pivots out from directly over the flames) and onto the ground in front of the fire, and onto the bottom front of the door frame (see pictures). . So, this might not see as much use as we had originally hoped, and I need to remember to put something on the ground in front of the door. We are hoping this weekend might be calm enough to burn again. . May the 4th be with you - to all of those celebrating (wink). . . . #fromthegarden - this has been a really nice weekend, so I've stayed home to help get some trees planted along our property line. Neighbors had a bunch of trees removed this late winter, and if the rule of thumb in these parts is correct - trees should only be planted in months with r - we have a lot of work to do before the end of April. . Since I took a bit of a break to get some water, I noticed this pretty little thing coming up volunteer. Texted the picture to a friend who knows a lot about plants, and of course she gave me the common and proper names - Mrs Moon pulmanaria - lungwort. .
