definitely broke up a semi-serious relationship with a man she'd been dating for a year or so when she realized she would have to spend the rest of her life with that guy. In my mind she got really drunk one night at a sorority party and had an “oh, shit” moment and avoided him for two weeks before breaking up with him. 
i see Jackie as a news anchor. honestly, I think it would really fit her. always struck me as a morning person.
meets you at a coffee shop that she has to rush into at the crack of dawn before work. she's so fucking happy and in a good mood that it puts you off at first. like seriously, it's like 6 AM, why is she smiling??
Jackie immediately takes a liking to you. starts going out of her way to stop by whenever you're working, even though it's five minutes out of her way and she likes the coffee at the other shop better. 
she's so flirty, incessantly even. she derives so much pleasure from making you nervous. even with all the flirting she does, she doesn't seriously expect you to reciprocate her interest. she's immediately stunned and a little unsure when she realizes you wrote a flirty comment on her cup, because don't you realize how old she is? 
comes back in the next day and mentions it and is immediately flattered when you just shrug and hand her the usual before she can even order it. Jackie's so flustered by your attention that she leaves without paying. runs back ten minutes later and practically throws the money at you before sprinting back to work. 
Jackie really likes the fact that you don't know who she is. i mean, who watches the news anymore?? 
you finally catch a clip of her as the anchor and realize what she does. she gets so shy when you tease her about it. asking her for her autograph as a joke and she's tripping over herself and bright red
god, she's never like this but you just make her so nervous sometimes. makes her feel like a kid again and she never thought she'd like that. 
doesn't even cross her mind to be embarrassed or hesitant about dating someone half her age. starts talking about your college classes and one of her friends is like “oh, it's good they're going back to college at their age” and Jackie's just like “oh no, they went straight out of highschool 🥰.” doesn't even notice the way their jaw dropped as they're doing the math. 
worries constantly about how you perceive her. she seems so charismatic and confident that you wouldn't think she would be so insecure, but it's constantly on her mind. she's not embarrassed about you at all but she keeps waiting for the day that you realize she's too ‘old’ ever since someone pointed that out to her for the first time. 
tries way too hard to seem hip and cool. she spent hours researching how to use modern slang correctly even though she already mostly had it down. 
over the moon whenever you reference liking something from the 90s. she'll talk your fucking ear off about it if you let her. 
Jackie values your validation a lot less than she would've at 18, but she still really needs to be the center of your attention. one off comment from you can really have her off kilter for the rest of the day even if you didn't mean it. Jackie's more chill about it now, but she still has a desperate need to be liked. 
she gets so jealous when it comes to people your own age. there's so many spaces you’re in that she really just can't enter due to her age and it drives her crazy thinking about all the people who might be able to relate to you better or on a different level. 
such a reality TV fan. has you on the couch for days getting caught up on all 12 seasons of her favorite show before the new season airs. you just know she's got the best snacks though. 
ridiculously supportive of every little thing you do. if it has a competition attached, trust that she will be in the front row with your picture on a t-shirt. People definitely think she's your mom with how extra she is about it, but she doesn't even care. the crowd audibly gasps when she kisses you afterward, but she doesn't notice as she's too busy hyping you up about getting fifth place.
most considerate gift giver on the planet, I swear. she only gets better with age. it's so sweet and thoughtful that you almost tear up every time. 
won't lie about her age but also won't correct other people. your friends are like “what is she, thirty???” in disbelief when they meet for the first time and Jackie's ass is just like “... yes. that's it.” 
world’s most expensive makeup collection, i swear. it’s so expansive that you're almost in awe the first time you see it. entire shelves dedicated solely to it
sometimes when you get bored sitting outside the shower listening to Jackie yap you start googling the prices of things just to feel something. what do you mean that skin cream was $250???
Offers to give you a tour as an excuse to get you into her room. You’re looking around her one-story house like 🤔. You’re not sure there’s a single room in this house you can’t see from the living room, but you’re not stupid enough to give up that chance.

1989 Timeline
This is a very long post that puts all the songs on 1989 in order of Taylor creating them. I’ve also included a few other songs she worked on while writing 1989 and quotes from Taylor and her collaborators talking about her process
Of all the albums in Taylor's discography, I think this is the one that improves the most when you listen to it in order. All of those things Taylor was talking about in the promo for this album-- how this is an album of her coming into her own, figuring out her values, learning to stand on her own two feet-- it all clicks into place. Listening to it in order has made me cry on more than one occasion, and it's also the thing that made me start this whole crazy process of figuring out the dates she wrote each song.

I’ve also added this color coded scale of how sure I am of the date: 
Confirmed: There is some type of official source for the date

October 19, 2012: Taylor mentions wanting to work with Imogen Heap, prompting Imogen to get in touch with Taylor
Time Interview: Who’d be your dream collaboration, especially now that you’re taking more musical risks? Let me think. Imogen Heap! She’s amazing. Taylor: Someone asked me in an interview "Who would you like to work with?" and I said Imogen Heap. I get an email to my management, sent like "Imogen just saw that Taylor just said an interview that she would like to work together" She said "Why don't you come out to my studio." Imogen: I got a phone call [in 2014] saying Taylor Swift was in London, she'd love to work with me and the only date she could do (between 4 sold out 02 arenas!) was the day after we got back, Sunday. It was both unexpected and not at the same time as I'd heard Taylor was a fan a while back via this Time magazine piece but somehow didn't think it would actually happen.
Fall 2012: Taylor possibly writes a song with Harry Styles and Jacknife Lee (her producer for The Last Time).
Jacknife Lee: “It was out of my field of expertise and interest, but I was intrigued and my girls were thrilled. Taylor was nice and very professional. She knew what she wanted and there was no fucking about. She was seeing Harry Styles at the time, so he came to Topanga on her recommendation. She wrote a few songs with him, and it was the same thing – quick. But this time it was more directed by the management and label. They were after something specific. I wanted more acoustic and gentle, almost Americana, and they wanted bombast. They got what they wanted, and that was the extent of my foray into teen-pop territory. It was fun.”
All You Had to Do Was Stay: Jan 10, 2013 (Confirmed)
Taylor is photographed outside Conway, and then tweets "Back in the studio. Uh oh..." Later, Taylor confirmed that she was recording All You Had To Do Was Stay. Taylor: I had a dream that my ex showed up at my door, knocked at my door, and I opened it up, and I was about ready to launch into the perfect thing to say [...], Instead, all that would come out of my mouth was that high-pitched chorus of people singing, 'Stay!'...and then you go to say something else, and it's just like 'Stay! Stay! Stay!' And I woke up, I was like 'Oh, that was mortifying. But that's kind of a cool vocal part.'

How You Get The Girl: Jan 15, 2013 (Confirmed)
Taylor posts a picture of her playing a guitar in the studio, captioned "Somewhere in LA..". Later, Taylor confirmed that she was recording How You Get The Girl. Given what was going on in her personal life, she likely wrote this sometime in the fall/winter of 2012, but all we know for sure is the date she recorded it.

I Wish You Would: May 28, 2013 (Inferring)
Taylor is photographed out for lunch in Rhode Island with Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff on May 27, before leaving for her show in Phoenix, Arizona the next day Taylor: "Max Martin and [Karl Johan] Shellback [Schuster] were the last people I collaborated with on [2012 album] Red, and I wished we could have done more and explored more. So going into this album, I knew that I wanted to start with them again. Then I thought, “Wouldn’t it be amazing to work with Ryan Tedder?” And then I was with Jack Antonoff and Lena Dunham at the beach, and we started talking about our favorite ’80s music. All of this started happening organically, and I found myself gravitating toward pop sensibilities, pop hooks, pop production styles." Jack:  "We were hanging out at her house in Rhode Island and we were talking about John Hughes movies, and a lot of the music that inspired [them], and just this general culture of sound in that time period that was really larger-than-life in an anthemic, positive way. These songs could be at the end of films that were really, really beautiful and said a lot. That actually ended up being a song called 'I Wish You Would' which is going to be on her album. We first worked on that song together and realized we kind of have a good thing. Taylor: “This is a song I did with Jack Antonoff, and Jack is one of my friends and so we were hanging out and he pulled out his phone and goes "I made this amazing track the other day. It's so cool, I love these guitar sounds." And he played it for me and immediately I could hear this finished song in my head, and I just said "Please, please let me have that. Let me play with it, like send it to me" And so he sent it to me and I was on tour and this was me playing the track on my laptop recording me singing the vocal into my phone and it ended up being a song called "I Wish You Would", because Jack wrote back and said "I love that".”
June 7, 2013: At the CMA fest, Taylor is asked if she's started writing for her next album yet
“It's starting, all the anxiety is starting and when the anxiety starts, then the writing happens right afterward, usually. Um, so, yeah, I basically... I like to, I like to write for about two years before I'm finished with an album because I... at this point I kind of know that whenever I write in the first year is going to get thrown away, because, I'm going to like it, but it's going to sound a little bit like the last project I had, and the second year usually ends up sounding like the next project. So I think at this point, at this point I feel like staying the same is the easy way to go but it's not the way that I want to go, creatively. I think you need to challenge yourself, I think you need to change up your influences, I think you need to be inspired by different things that you've been inspired by before, and, uh, y'know, It's harder to call people you don't know, and it's harder to think of topics you haven't covered and think of new ways to say old emotions that everyone feels, but, that's the goal at this point."

Out Of The Woods: September 14 2013 (Inferring)
On September 14, Fun cancelled their show. Taylor was likely either flying to or from Charlottesville, where she had a show for the Red Tour. Jack: "When I did the track for Out of the Woods, which is a Taylor song that I'm really proud of, there was some issue at a venue and our show was canceled that night and I didn't have my stuff, I had left it on the bus, so I only had these old samples on what was on my laptop, and caught up that 'oh oh'' thing, and I only had one drum kit on there, and these dumb little things [sometimes turn into a great song]" Jack: "So 'Out Of The Woods' was the third thing we worked on together, and probably the easiest. I sent her the track for it, and she sent back a voice note with the verse and chorus in what felt like five seconds. And it was just perfect. It's eerie how similar it is to what the final product is." Taylor: "This is a track that Jack Antonoff sent me, and I was actually on a plane, I got it and I got on a plane and I'm listening to it, and I'm just like listening to it and mumbling melodies cause the song came to me immediately like, in full [...] I think what I should start by playing you, is when I got the track, what I sent him like an hour later, and it is, me.. um, me singing what came to me, which ended up being the finished version of the song, or at least really close to it."

These days, Swift is thinking a lot about her next record. While on the Red tour, she’d been writing songs and stockpiling ideas: reams of lyrics, thousands of voice memos in her iPhone [...] she plans to spend much of 2014 writing and recording the new album, a prospect she finds exhilarating and terrifying. “I worry about everything. Some days I wake up in a mind-set of, like, ‘Okay, it’s been a good run.’ By afternoon, I could have a change of mood and feel like anything is possible and I can’t wait to make this kind of music I’ve never made before. And then by evening, I could be terrified of the whole thing again. And then at night, I’ll write a song before bed.” Swift hopes to collaborate with new songwriters and producers. But she planned to begin, she said, by heading back into the studio with Max Martin and Shellback. “I want to go in with Max and Johan first, just to figure out what the bone structure of this record is going to be. “I have a lot of things to draw from emotionally at the moment. Clearly that's from the Fearless album", "No that one, that one was from Red" and so I’m in the process of doing that thing all over again for my 5th album and it’s amazing to be in the studio and to be songwriting again, and be honored for songwriting tonight"

November 25, 2013: Taylor and Scott Borchetta have a meeting to talk about her plans for TS5 and are both asked about the next album at the AMAs
Taylor: “We got a lot already. There are probably seven or eight [songs] that I know I want on the record. It’s really ahead of schedule for me. I’m just stoked because it’s already evolved into a new sound, and that’s all I wanted. And I would have taken two years to make that happen, but it just kind of happened naturally, so that’s all I could really ask for.” Scott Borchetta: "Well earlier today we got together and she played me seven new songs, and she’s just on fire. The level of desire and passion that she has just to keep getting better, she’s an artist that just really never wants to just say ‘Well okay this is good enough’. It’s always gotta be better. "I’m really loving collaboration right now [...] I see it as a bit of an apprenticeship. I want to be around people who love writing songs and have done it for years. Every time I’m in a studio I’m learning, like how to build a drum track, and getting a new perspective on things. It’s so thrilling to keep learning on your fifth album. As soon as [an album] comes out I’m figuring out what the next one will be. It’s gotten to the point where each one is a reinvention, which is what I like best. I like it when it sounds new and people don’t know where you’re going to go next."

Diane Warren: Warren, who typically writes on her own, says the two of them “sat down and wrote the song […] from scratch” during the last few days of 2013. She remembers being impressed with how specific Swift was with her lyricism and how considerate she was about how her fans might receive it. “She was very particular about how she said certain things. It was a really interesting experience. She gets her audience [...] She’s deeply aware of how her fans want to hear something. I can’t explain it, but that’s probably why she’s the biggest fucking star in the world.” Several days after writing the song together, they got into Warren’s office to record a demo, where Swift played it on her acoustic guitar. “We demoed it on New Year’s Day. And I’m a workaholic, and that’s fine for me,” she says. “But I remember being impressed that she did, too. Everybody’s on vacation, but she showed up.”

This song is copyrighted for 2014. Taylor has said a few times that Clean, Shake It Off, and Style were the last songs written for the album, meaning You Are In Love was likely completed in January or early February. Given Taylor's busy schedule in late January and early February, I'd guess this was written at some point in early January. Furthermore, I'd guess it was sometime after the 9th, when she returned from looking at house in New York.

Taylor: "I sent this voice memo to Ryan Tedder because I'd always wanted to work with him, and finally we scheduled some studio time. So I always wanna be prepared, I wanted to send him the idea that I was working on before we went into the studio just in case he wrote back and said "I can't stand that, I wanna work on something else, think of something else" So I just sat down with the piano, put my phone on top of the piano and just kind of explained to him where I wanted to go with the song, how I saw the melody sitting in and we ended up recording the song the next day and it ended up being on the record called "I Know Places" So this was the voice memo that I sent to him the night before we ended up finishing the song"

Ryan Tedder: "I thought we were going to walk in and start something from scratch because that's what I was used to. Then she calls me and says, 'Is it cool if I already have an idea?' I said, 'Sure.' She said, 'I have this song, I'm obsessed with New York and I just moved there, I want to write an ode to New York because no one's done it in a long time.' And then she sent me a voice memo. She's like, 'I want it to sound like 1980s.' So the next day I brought in a Juno-106, which is a very 1980s keyboard and I literally programmed that entire song right in front of her. It was very much on the fly, and that song was done in about three hours. And I did the rest of the production I think later that week. I was in Switzerland on a tour bus, and I did four versions of 'Welcome to New York,' one of which I liked personally more, but the thing about artists is they become very obsessed with the demo. She was in love with the demo so no matter how hard I fought, she brought it back to the demo, so really what you hear is what I did on the first day."
January 26 2014: Dianne Warren says that she recently wrote a song with Taylor
"I worked with Taylor Swift on a great song [...] I'm excited about the [song] that we did, it's pretty cool Dianne in 2016: “I know [Swift] likes it, so hopefully it will see the light of day. I know she really likes the song. She didn’t want me to give it away, so hopefully that means she wants it.”
January 26 2014: Taylor loses Album of the Year at the Grammy's to Daft Punk. She tells a few different stories about what the rest of the night looked like for her-- in some she goes home alone, in some she has some friends over-- but in all of them, this is the night where she decides that she's gonna name the album 1989, and she's not going to let her label tell her to put any country songs on it.

According to Imogen Heap's blog post, Taylor had the first verse and chorus by the time they got into the studio, and then wrote the second verse and bridge during the session. Taylor's part was wrapped up in 9 hours, ending at 8pm, while Imogen stayed up until 4am because she didn't want to stop working on it. Taylor: ""Shake It Off" and "Clean" were the last two things we wrote for the record, so it shows you where I ended up mentally. “Clean” I wrote as I was walking out of Liberty in London. Someone I used to date— it hit me that I’d been in the same city as him for two weeks and I hadn’t thought about it. When it did hit me, it was like, ‘Oh, I hope he’s doing well’. And nothing else. [...] The first thought that came to my mind was – I’m finally clean." Imogen Heap: I was really writing the tiniest amount just to help her do what she does. I put some noises to [“Clean”], played various instruments on it, including drums, and anytime she expressed she liked something I was doing, I did it more. It was a really fun day. She recorded all her vocals [for “Clean”] during that one session. She did two takes, and the second take was it. We always thought she would probably re-record it, because we thought it can’t possibly be that easy. But after we lived with it for a few months, we felt it was great.

Lover Diaries (From Feb 22): "This week I’ve been in the studio with Max and Johan every day and it has been the most creatively successful and fulfilling time. The first day, Johan just made a really up tempo drum beat because we decided we needed something UP and light. We worked at it for a few hours before I just started singing “shake it off, shake it off.” And then the best way I know how to describe it is that the chorus just fell out of the sky. It ended up being this song about doing your own thing even though haters are gonna hate, and you just have to dance to your own beat. We all went home and I wrote the first and second verses and brought them in the next day. We wrote this chanty cheer leader bridge that I absolutely LOVE. We spent all day doing vocals and the next day recording background vocals. I think it’ll end up being the first single and Max said it’s his favorite song he’s ever been a part of." Taylor: "The problem was, I had all these lyrics, and I didnt have, like... writing session was coming up and I'm just like "I'm not getting a melody, I'm dead, I don't know what I'm gonna do." The thought terrified me, so I just sorta sulked into the studio and I was like "Guys, I have like an idea but its like, lyric, but I... and I know the vibe I want-- I want it to start off and the second the song starts, I want it to be the song where like, if it's played at a wedding, and there's this one girl who hasn't danced all night at the reception, all her friends come over to her and there like "You have to dance, come on, you have to dance on this one!". That's what I wanted. So I was like "Shellback, can you just go to the drum kit and try to play that?" Taylor: "There's one thing that I've always said to Max, is like "I don't like horns" I just always had a thing about it, I was always like weirdly scared of it, or intimidated by horns, I don't know what it was? It's a weird, like, nerdy studio fear of mine. I was like "No, no horns!" and I don't.. I don't even know, I don't have a reason for it, I love songs that have horns on them, I was just like "I don't think I can pull off horns." Strange. But, he goes over to the mellotron and he starts playing this horn sound. I'm like "What are you doing. Don't do that." and he's like, "No, I think this is cool" and I'm like "No it's not cool, and where are your chorus chords, because, that, you're just playing three chords over and over again and I can't make a chorus out of them, why don't you go to like a chorus chord that starts off the chorus, where is the one, like why don't you go--" and then there was this moment, where I thought of the whole chorus, and it's over the chords that I had just told him are not "chorus chords", which is a ridiculous thing to say."

Niklas Ljungfelt (guitarist): I played on “Style,” a song I started with Ali Payami for ourselves. He was playing it for Max Martin at his studio; Taylor overheard it and loved it. She and Max wrote new lyrics. But I recorded the guitar on it before it was a Taylor song. It was an instrumental. I didn’t have a clue that Taylor would sing on it. The inspiration came from Daft Punk and funky electronic music. Taylor: I'm pretty sure after we finished this one I knew the record was done. Shake It Off and Style were the last two songs to be written for 1989.
March 2014: Taylor's interview with Glamour is published (likely conducted two months beforehand)
TS: Working on this album has been unbelievable [...] I'm already in love with it. It's so different. CL: What's the new sound? TS: On Red I did three songs with Max Martin Shellback [...] I think we'll be doing a lot more than three songs together on the next album [Laughs].

"Slut!": 2014 (Unknown)
Taylor: The song “Slut!” is a song we wrote for 1989 and in it, I kind of cheekily play on the discussions at that time of my life around my dating life. And that’s not the only time on 1989 that I’d done that, I’ve done that on “Blank Space” and when I came down to having to pick songs for the album, I think I though, “Okay, well, I’m going to choose ‘Blank Space’” and, unfortunately, had to make some tough decisions in terms of what to put on the tracklist. But I love this song because I think it’s really dreamy. And I always saw 1989 as a New York album, but this song, to me, was always California, and maybe that was another reason it didn’t make the cut, because sometimes, thematically, I just had these little weird rules in my head. But I’m so happy it’s finally going to be something you guys hear, because I have always been proud of it, I’ve always wanted it to come out into the world and now it is, so yay!
Suburban Legends: 2014 (Unknown)
Taylor hasn't talked about this song, and it was produced by Jack Antonoff, who she didn't schedule time in the studio with in the same way she did with Max Martin and Shellback, so there's not a lot to work with.
Is It Over Now?: 2014 (Unknown)
Similarly to Suburban Legends, Jack produced this, so there's no obvious point in time to point to. She has spoken briefly about it though. Taylor: “Is It Over Now” is a song I wanted to end the album with because I think it’s kind of a fun play on words of like, “Is the album over now?” I always saw this song as sort of a sister to “Out Of The Woods” and “I Wish You Would,” I kind of saw those songs as similar, so, unfortunately, when we were making these decisions of what to put on 1989 and what to leave behind, I had to make some tough choices, and now it doesn’t matter anymore because you guys are going to hear all the songs. I’m so happy this song is out. I really love the “let’s fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later,” that session, I just feel like head banging to every time it comes on. Hope you agree.
May 30, 2014: Taylor writes in her diary:
So a crazy story unfolded in the last 24 hours. Last night, I had this vivid dream where the photo I’d chosen for the album cover wasn’t good enough, intriguing enough, artful enough. It woke me up. I couldn’t shake it and it stayed with me all day. Because that nagging feeling I’d been pushing back for weeks was now confirmed in my gut … It wasn’t good enough. I went to the venue, mind racing, wondering if I’d have to do an entirely new photo shoot … I got to my dressing room with newer versions of the “cover.” I looked at it and felt nothing. The team pulled up this new scanned file of the Polaroids we had taken during the shoot. I saw within 10 seconds. The shot. The cover. It’s a Polaroid of me sitting against a beige wall with a blue seagull swear shirt on. You can see my red lips, but the photo cuts off my eyes. From some reason unknown to me, it’s the most intriguing photo I’ve seen. I think it’s the mystery of not seeing my eyes. Maybe it just looks effortlessly cool. The craziest moment came when something caught my eye. The cover photo is photo 13. I kid you not.

Now That We Don't Talk: Summer 2014 (Speculation)
Seeing as Taylor said she didn't have time to figure out the production, I imagine this came fairly late in the process. Taylor has a habit of adding songs right up to the deadline-- with Folklore and Evermore, she added multiple songs a week before the album came out. The latest she added songs to albums while signed to Big Machine was September, though (both Forever & Always and So It Goes...), so I assume that's the absolute latest she could've added a song to 1989. Taylor: "Now That We Don’t Talk” is one of my favorite songs that was left behind, it was so hard to leave it behind, but I think we wrote it a little bit towards the end of the process and we couldn’t get the production right at the time. But we had tons of time to perfect the production this time and figure out what we wanted this song to sound like. I think it’s the shortest song I’ve ever had, but I think it packs a punch, I think it really goes in. For the short amount of time we have, I think it makes its point.

“wait what?” i exclaimed. i was sitting in sarah’s room listening to her talk about her day at the beach with the pogues.
“yes i swear! he brought emily there and had his arm wrapped around her and everything! didn’t even surf, which is crazy for jj.”
“so he must be serious about this girl, right?” i sighed as i layed on her bed. i couldn’t believe it. jj maybank? in a relationship with a kook girl?
“i mean i don’t know much. but if i’m being honest, he didn’t seem that interested in her.” she talked as she curled her hair for her date with john b. i stayed silent. i couldn’t believe it.

“hey y/n!” i stopped in my tracks. i knew that voice all too well. and it was the voice of someone i had been ignoring for the past two weeks. i turned slowly to face him.
“hey.” i said looking at the floor. purposely avoiding eye contact. it wasn’t that i didn’t want to see jj, i did. but it hurt to know he was dating someone else. especially emily, someone who was drastically different from me, from all the pogues to be honest.
“i feel like i haven’t seen you in forever. what’s up with that? sarah told me you’ve been sick, but i told her that was bullshit. you haven’t gotten sick since like the 3rd grade.” he grabbed me by the shoulders playfully. i look up to see emily staring at me from the bar.
“uh yeah. i don’t know what happened. probably got it from my parents after they came back from new york.” it was a lie. my parents hadn’t been to new york in ages.
with emily giving me a death stare and jj touching me, i was feeling claustrophobic and a little freaked out, “anyways look i’ll see you later. i have to get home and get some homework done.” i turn around and start walking before he can begin a sentence.

“hello?”
“y/n? y/n! hey how- how are you doing?” he stutters a bit.
“hey i’m doing fine? are you okay? you sound a little weird.”
“i’m good just pissed at emily.” he huffed.
“ahh emily. so how is your new girlfriend?”
“she’s pissed at me for some lame joke i made with pope. and she called attacking me and shit because i was being a douchebag or something.”
“ha what else is new.” i joke. and he laughs which stops my heart for a minute. i pause then ask,
“what was the joke?” i ask, curious to know why emily would be so upset.
“i told her the dress she was wearing looked like a hospital gown and she got all pissed. wasn’t even a good joke…” he mumbled.
i laughed, he was right. it wasn’t, i could think of thousands of jokes better, but i could tell it must’ve been an attempt to make emily and pope laugh.
“i guess she doesn’t get your humor.”
“guess not…” he sighs then starts again,
“hey l was wondering if you wanted to hang out later. i don’t know i’ve been feeling really distant from you recently.
“yeah i’m sorry about that, um so like with the pogues or…?”
“nah just yo- sorry hold that thought emily’s calling me and i really don’t want to make her more mad. i’ll call you back.”
he never called back.

im listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
and she'll never know your story like I do
a week had passed and he still hadn’t called me. i wasn’t even trying to ignore him anymore, he just was never around. school had ended and summer break had finally begun. and still no call.
as i layed on my bed and sang along to “the blue” by gracie abrams, sarah tries convincing me to talk to jj.
“why don’t you just call him? see what’s up? it’s not like him to be this distant. it’s with john b too, hasn’t been to the chateau recently. and you know how his dad is.”
“a shitty father is what he is.” i spit out. even though i was irritated at jj for not even trying to keep any communication between any of the pogues my hatred for luke will always be worse.
i sit up, “look he’s probably fine and with emily. i’ll talk to john b to get him to chill. but honestly i don’t think jj wants to keep contact with any of us. if he wanted to he would have.”
“i don’t know, you should call him. emily has like tied him up all for herself. have you noticed that?”
but she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts
shes cheer captain and im on the bleachers

“something is up y/n. go figure it out.” she grabbed my car keys and pushed me out the door.

i take a deep breathe before knocking at his door.
no response. i knock again.
“hello! anyone home?”
“shut the hell u- y/n?” jj opens the door.
“hi- hey i just came to check on you. can i come in?”
he turns back, no doubt looking for his father. “probably not the best idea.”
“yeah- yeah uh wanna go to mine? so we can talk?” he nods and shuts the door behind him. he doesn’t make eye contact but all i can do is stare at the blood on his face and knuckles.
oh, I remember you driving to my house

i unlock my house from the back door to hopefully not make as much noise. my parents couldn’t find out i was sneaking in a boy in the middle of the night. i hurriedly close the door to my room and turn to him.
“are you okay?” i spill out.
“yes.” he’s quiet, that’s not the jj i know.
“you know you can talk to us, right? like any of the pogues, we’re here for you. i’m here for you.” i move closer and touch the blood on his forehead, and he winces. his head is sticky, like if he had been sweating. and i can’t decide whether it’s because of the humidity or if he was fighting with his father. probably both.
“luke?” he just nods. my heart breaks for him. i grab his hand and let him sit on my bed. i grab my first aid kit and rubbing alcohol and get to work on the blood and bruises on his hand and knuckles.
we sit in comfortable silence. but it was mostly me waiting to see if he was going to talk about his dad.
“i didn’t want to ignore you guys.” he speaks so low, i almost couldnt hear him. i kneel down so i can look at his face.
“then why did you?”
“i- i told my dad something, stupid i know. but he blew up on me a couple weeks ago. told me his boss had a nice daughter named emily my age. said if i could get with her, he’d get more money or some shit. i don’t know i guess i wanted to make him proud. so i- i started dating her. kept fucking it up and he would beat the shit out of me. didn’t want you guys to see me like that.”
i sighed. my hands were holding his for comfort. something we’d done since we were kids but felt really unfamiliar now.
“what’d you tell your dad to make him set you up with emily?”
he coughed, “told’m that i loved someone.”
my heart dropped for the second time in two months. why did i even think for a second that’d i’d have a chance? i told myself we belonged together.
“oh.” i got up and released my hands from his. suddenly feeling very uncomfortable. i cleared my throat.
“um well, i have some sleeping bags in my closet and if you want you can sleep in my bed or um whatever feels more com-“
“i told him i loved you.”

Shoko and Utahime were dragged by you into a nearby room, the door shutting behind them forcefully. “Guys you can’t literally be serious.” You exclaimed. Shoko yawned as she said, “It’s literally just a game, [Y/N]. Relax, you’re getting all worked up for nothing.” You looked at her in sheer disbelief as you whisper-shouted “But he’s here too! What if we- god forbid- get paired?” Utahime chuckled at your nervousness as she put an arm around your shoulder and said, “Well, that’s a great opportunity for you, isn’t it? I mean, no offence [Y/N, you’re my best friend and I love you, but you are driving me crazy with all your rambling about Gojo. Like, I get it, you like him, please go and confess.” She sighed. You were about to retort with a denial before a series of soft knocks sounded on the door. “Are you guys there? We’re waiting, if you’re ready.” Geto’s ever-calm voice came from the other side of the door. Shoko immediately responded with a “Yup, just [Y/N] being silly.”
The room to be used for the game had been appropriately darkened and set up. Nanami was working on the chits they’d used to select the two people for 7 minutes in heaven when they re-entered the living room. You released your breath in relief. Nanami was the most trustworthy in the group, and there was definitely no chance of rigging the chits. You know that if it was anyone else, probably all the chits would be filled with your and Gojo’s name.
Yeah, you have no idea how it even came about in the first place, but you had developed a terrible crush on one of your best friends, Gojo Satoru. Every moment you spent with him casually just made it worsen, as you noticed more and more things about him- the small twinkle in his eyes when he was up to some mischief, the assured self-confidence in his grin, the way his demeanor softened a bit on seeing all of you, and so much more. Even worse for you, you believed that he would never reciprocate, leading you to rant about it to your best friends, lovesick. (To the point that they consulted Geto and Nanami about it without your knowledge, only to find that those two were facing the exact same problem. Safe to say, Nanami was even more pissed than usual by Gojo.)
You’re brought back to the present from your daydreams by Geto calling out, “Hey, could you and Gojo please get the timer and some snacks from the storeroom? It’s gonna be a while.” You swallowed a bit as you nodded, “Yeah sure.” ,walking towards the said location with Satoru close behind you. 
It took the both of you some time to find the timer, which had been buried in some box somewhere, and you couldn’t help but feel that it was on purpose. By the time you two came back, the others were ready with the chits and waiting impatiently for you. “Took you long enough.” Utahime grumbled as she grabbed the snacks from you without bothering to ask nicely, passing over some packets to the others. There was only one bowl with all your names, ‘to make it more interesting’. 
The chips and cakes and drinks were passed around as Nanami drew the first two chits- Him and Geto. He shrugged as if bored already, as he followed Geto into the designated room. From beside you, Gojo groaned that this was a waste of time because absolutely nothing would happen between those two, as he impatiently tapped his foot- another thing you’d noticed about him. To while away the seven minutes, you put on some of your favorite songs, the others beside you perking up as they recognised their all time favorite artist. (im listening to taylor rn lmao)  At the end of the time, you guys noiselessly padded over the carpets and barged into the room to find both of them- asleep. 
You merely deadpan at the sight while Satoru instantly ran over to Nanamin and grabbed his arm to pull him up, the said man spewing a string of curses at the sudden disturbance, Shoko doing the same with Geto. Then Nanami pulled the next two chits, and your heart sinked as he first called out your name then, “..Geto?” 
Everyone at the table simultaneously frowned as Geto leaned over to look at the chit. “...That’s literally Gojo in my cursive handwriting.” Frowning, you grab the chit from Nanamin to confirm, and indeed it was Gojo’s name written on it. Geto leaned back in his chair, unimpressed at his friends’ inability to read his writing, while you weren’t sure whether to be happy or upset that you’d be locked in a room with your long-time crush. 
“Well, let’s go now, the seven minutes are ticking away!” Satoru laughs as he pulls you gently into the designated room by the wrist. Utahime and Geto cheerfully call out “Good luck!” and you swear you can see everyone sigh with relief.
You take a deep breath and walk through the door Satoru is chivalrously holding open for you with a grin, and Satoru follows as the door is locked from outside. But just a moment later, he trips and falls. He quickly gets up though, as he looks at you and says, “Hey, do you have a bandaid? Cause I scraped my knee falling for you.” 
You blink at him, once, twice, till you start laughing. He pouts, upset. “That’s so rude of you [N/N]!” You respond with “You should tie your shoelaces- I don’t want you falling for anyone else.” Now its Satoru’s turn to be flabbergasted, and you’re sure both your friends would be highly disappointed with your cringy as hell pick-up lines, but hey, atleast you’re not nervous anymore. “You don’t need to worry, cause I was enchanted to meet you. Still am, by the way.”
Your smile turns sad as the reality of the situation sinks in. Satoru was probably just using these to while away the time, and the fact that you really were in love with him didn’t help. “Satoru, I think we should stop now, because it hurts to know that you don’t really mean any of this.” “But I do!” Satoru protested vehemently. You turned away from him to face the wall. “Stop joking, please. Fine, I’ll admit it. I really like you Toru, and I wanna be more than just friends with you but I know you don’t feel the same. Still, its not nice of you to play with my heart like that.”
A beat of silence, then another, and suddenly you’re scared that you’ve ruined everything that was between you- friendship or more. 
And then you feel Satoru hugging you from behind, as you freeze up. You think you might just malfunction, because the Gojo Satoru just kissed you on the cheek with a lopsided smile. “Now now, who gave you the impression that I didn’t like you back? If anything, I thought that my feelings weren’t returned.”
You spin around in his embrace, shocked. Mistake, you realise, because your faces are so close to each other now, that if either of you leant forward a bit, you’d be kissing. “Are you being serious right now?” You whisper. “For once, yes, I’m being dead serious. But since we both like each other, can we just skip the formalities and kiss? Because right now, you’re the one torturing me with this proximity.” Satoru replies back, fully serious, and it makes you laugh a little as you finally, finally, pull his pretty face towards yours to kiss him like you’ve been longing to all this time. 
Satoru immediately responds in kind, and you’re not quite sure how much time passes while you two are lost in each other, but eventually Satoru pulls away a bit, and you frown at the loss of contact. After a moment, you hesitantly say, “..Well? What do we do now?” At this, Satoru smirks as he fully pulls away. “Of course, we go back to acting like we did before. Let’s make our dearest friends think their genius ploy to get us together has miserably failed. I always love a good prank, and this’ll be one of the best.” 
Again, you can’t help but chuckle at this. “So you suspected something was up? Yeah, me too. What I’m wondering is how they convinced Nanamin to join in. I genuinely didn’t think Nanami would ever do something like this.” “Remember when we all went to see Geto and him? I bet that at that time, Shoko and Utahime switched up the bowl of chits. That's like the only way possible.” “Nanami must still have been in on it though.”
“The seven minutes are almost up, I think. Right, so I’m gonna go to this wall and you go there, and we’ll pretend we haven’t been talking much. I can bet you they’re eavesdropping on us even right now, but I know from experience that its very hard to actually make the words out. So basically, they won’t know shit.” Amused, you go along with his plan. Except that now its actually embarrassing to act the way you used to, all lovesick at the mere sight of him, and you think he feels the same way from the way he’s blushing slightly.
A minute or two passes, and you’d think it was incredibly awkward, but its actually funny by the way Satoru keeps grinning at you, or says even more dumb pick up lines occasionally. Suddenly, the door bursts open, as if your friends are hoping to catch you in the middle of some heinous act. Imagine their sheer disappointment to see the scene in front of them.
Utahime stomps over to you as you rush out of the room, the way you would have done a day ago. “Well?” she demands forcefully. “Did anything happen?” 
Its so very hard to keep a poker face at her furious expression on hearing the blunt “No.” from you. She mutters something before proceeding to strangle Geto, who was strangling Gojo. Your and Satoru’s eyes meet, and you almost crack up at the mischief sparkling in his eyes- another thing about him that made you fall in love.
Oh well. You’re sure your friends will find out soon, but for now its highly entertaining to watch them at their wit’s end. You smile at Satoru when no one’s looking, and he sends a wink your way.
Bonus:-
Lessons had ended, and Satoru, being the gentleman that he is, came to fetch you from the class. The others were nowhere to be seen, and taking advantage of the moment, Satoru decided to kiss you- no one is here after all. 
Unfortunately, you lose track of time as a screech resounds in the empty and silent class. You two jump away from each other, startled and guilty as charged, while your friends stand at the entrance of the classroom with a betrayed look on their faces. The two parties just stare at each other till Geto finally, slowly asks, “How long?”
You sheepishly respond with the truth, and the look of shock on is just priceless. You sigh internally- Your friends are something, and your now-boyfriend is an entirely different kind of something.
Satoru sticks out his tongue at them before kissing you again, on the cheek this time.
Cue Nanami strangling Gojo. (They all gag, but they’re very relieved.)

I'll be honest, while Deuxmoi always and still does post a ton of BS, thanks to the development of this never-ending saga...I'm starting to really feel like she's been used intentionally to push this narrative along all the way from the very beginning. Aka 2021.
A very out there theory but hear me out: Early on, the fandom had the general consensus DM was BS. Especially in regards to CE. Because DM was the one that first started spreading his super secret GF nonsense back in 2021, right before the introduction of Soba Saga. Her almost nonsensical rants about her having legit sources on this secret GF - while doing weekly podcasts where she insisted she never got any intel on him because his circle was so tight knit (interesting how that suddenly changed out of nowhere when someone showed up) - just made her seem like crazy cat lady gossip conspiracy Marjorie Taylor Greene on steroids.
She was the first to post that "dating Soba for over a year and everyone in PT/her circle knows about it" in early 2022.
They go public in late 2022. 2023 There's some Sunday Spotted (I could be wrong) vDAY post about CE and "fiancé" being seen in town at dinner (sounds very similar to the most recent vDay sighting). That was about 10 months before the super secret wedding and there had been no announcement of being engaged, minus the Tumblr blogs and random third rate tabloids and troll twitter accounts passing on the rumors. DM starts spreading around the same time some Tumblr blogs get the intel about secret engagement, wedding, rift in the family, people on his side not liking Soba, etc. Eventually it is revealed DM was right all along???? In a complete turn of events her credibility goes from zero to 1 (grudgingly of course, while she continues to spill BS daily)
Meanwhile, DM gets the first RPatz sighting with Scarlett and crew at dinner. Nobody believed it - as Nancy mentioned, it just seemed too farfetched with the way that restaurant was set up.
Then in early 2024 we get an actual RPatz sighting with with Soba/CE, and separately, sightings with Scarlett and Colin. Now there's more "credibility" to that random other sighting even if it still can't be proven.
Now...possible project with RPatz and CE's name circulating. Maybe just gossip fodder, maybe some truth to it. Time will tell. Coincidences once again.
DM gets the sighting of CE in LA with Russos. He actually confirms that one himself a month later.
Simultaneously, DM gets random sightings of CE doing other stuff where soba is not mentioned. Nobody knows really what to believe anymore.
But for every 15 BS things she posts, she actually gets 1-2 right. It starts to completely make her a hit or miss source but enough to get people riled up and worried if/when she gets something related to CE/Soba.
In a way, this strategy, if it were to have any salt to it, is kinda interesting. It also sort of enforces the idea of possible foul play. Because if CE is truly in such a happy, private, loveful relationship, why use somebody as uncouth as DM to throw out breadcrumbs? Especially since, in the past, his fanbase and most Tumblr blogs believed it was only legit if it came from someone like People Mag (his team's go-to). Ironically, Page 6 has been getting most of the exclusive scoops this time around, in addition to weird low rate tabloids that eventually make its way to the top.
I know I sound like crazy qanon conspiracy theorist, but I guess people see what they wanna see. But for the people who believe this relationship isn't as genuine as some want to believe, it kind of tracks that somebody's PR team pushing this out in ways to sort of make you wonder, question, and push back on the validity. Just enough to make you think, maybe, maybe there's something going on BTS that they're not saying but they're kinda telling. But you'll never know what the truth is. At least not for now.
I do find DM’s role since 2023 to be very interesting indeed. You missed nothing. Not one thing. She’s made herself be credible enough during this, but also, she’s questionable. So of course, take everything she says with a grain of salt.
I made this comment a bit ago to someone else, he still uses People. Who got the Jinx articles first. Think about that for a moment. He. Just him.
As far as the last paragraph, what I will say is celebrities need to be talked about. Good or bad, they need the press. They need to be in the front of people’s minds. What better way to have them in people’s minds, and to have fans talk about something long past their expiration date than by playing a game. PR has become such a hot topic word, and I think very few people even understand it. But to me, if you’re having to play so many games, what really is real? Live your life. Isn’t that what we continue to be told they’re doing?

No but what drives me crazy about 911 is that they never give Buck and Eddie's love interests a fighting chance. Buck and Abby were doomed before they even began bc Abby was never supposed to stay on the show so they were always written with an end in mind. Eddie and Shannon's relationship never worked and even if she hadn't died she would've still have asked for a divorce - she and Eddie were never going to work. Ali was barely even there. Eddie was never into Anna and everyone knew it and pointed it out time and time again. Bucktaylor was the closest the show has ever gotten to giving either of them a decent endgame possibility but instead of leaning into what brought them together and what could be good in their relationship the writers time and time again chose to push them apart and to exacerbate their incompatibilities to the point both of them were basically trapped in the relationship. Lucy and Buck could've been something but, again, the writers never tried to make them into anything meaningful. Natalia was only interested in Buck because of his death. Eddie only started dating Marisol bc he was being pressured into getting into a relationship, and the show never cared about giving her any depth of character and emotions whatsoever besides the nun thing, and even that was only to cause conflict between them. Tommy has been shown not to be into Buck as much as Buck is into him multiple times and the fact that he can't call him anything but Evan just pushes the idea that it won't work further. Kim could never mean anything more than a way for Eddie to heal. They've never had a decent love interest that was portrayed as one, and we're seven seasons in. If they want to push any endgame relationship other than Buddie, we're past the expiration date. Taylor worked bc Buck already knew her and bc the writers put time into developing their friendship and her character. She was popping up almost every single episode since her return and had decent amounts of screentime. She got a backstory. How do they plan on bringing two new love interests that get the same treatment, the same chances, when it's been seven seasons and not a single one of either Buck or Eddie's relationships has shown any signs that they were meant to work long term? What other possibility is left besides Buddie?

thoughts on girldad dick grayson? god it holds such a special place in my heart i could talk about it for agess! also i think dick wanting to start a family eventually but his life always being too "unstable" is really interesting. dc had SO MANY opportunities to give this man a daughter but its only canon in elseworlds! i dont wanna take away from roys whole shtick but dick having daughters would be such a fun direction to go in if its written while. like he would definitely mess up and have a lot of problems but he would love with his whole heart. a fic ive always wanted to read is a different ending with sophia or even dick getting to keep the grayson desert baby and raising it like ahhh chewing on my nails.

ur gonna wanna kill me for this but in most of my imaginings before n52, a biological daughter is not in the cards for dick. one of my fav headcanons for dick is long-term consequences of being at ground zero during chemo (briefly talk about this here). so, a possible consequence for that is sterility. i need him to have crazy feelings about being the last flying grayson.
but to answer your question properly, i think dick adopting a girl could be soooo interesting if done by someone other than taylor (olivia desmond who). just look at how hard his dynamic goes with sophia tevis.
if we veer into headcanon territory for this:
one of my fav ideas would be dick keeping in touch with sophia after blüdhaven got nuked (briefly talk about this here). possibly during the one year later arc... maybe he takes sophia to new york with him (instead of his no stakes arc of being on yachts with tim & bruce lol). he doesn't send her to boarding school immediately and instead, they spend time trying to recover from the shit-show their lives have been recently.
oooh, maybe a rlly fun arc where sophia gets past her hero worship/crush and properly considers dick's role in what happened to her family... which wars with how much she knows he cares about her (how he visited her at the halfway house, how he saved her from chemo, how he made sure she healed from the radiation). shared grief over how their fathers loved them but often failed them.
you can have some great rose stuff here too. instead of joining the teen titans, she follows dick to new york and ends up becoming a regular presence in his shitty little apartment where she bullies dick about how he lives. she gets to know sophia and comes to care for her. maybe a kidnapping plot where she's the one who saves sophia from some mobsters who didn't get the tevis family memo.
a lot of bullying from the og titans (esp donna and roy who are also in new york) about dick essentially parenting two teenage girls. at dick's insistence, rose hesitantly reaches out to people she sort of let down during her evil era but only after she pulls an uno reverse on dick saying she'll only do it if he does it. she mocks him a lot by calling him 'renegade'. it never fails to make sophia laugh who calls him 'crutches' occasionally too.
sophia eventually joins a public high school in new york. dick and rose make rlly embarrassing banners for her graduation only for sophia to mock them saying wow look at how much you care... aren't you embarrassed?
also, i love the desert baby arc soooo much but i think the weight of dick saving this little girl + all the costs he bore to make that happen... is much more impactful if he never meets her again. maybe he does occasionally check up on how she's doing (is she loved? is she safe?) but only from a distance. the people who adopt her often get random tidbits of information about raising a meta-human and the family collectively refers to dick as their guardian angel.
i would be remiss if i didn't mention mar'i grayson bc she had me hooked with just that cameo in titans '99.

The team had now travelled down to Canberra for their second and final match against New Zealand again. Throughout the day they had taken their match day walk, eaten their meals together and prepared for the game, feeling somewhat confident after their last win over the opposing team. 
Astrid was still on a buzz from the last game and the love she had been showered in from her teammates, coaches, parents and especially the fans. Making her debut and scoring a goal in the same game on home soil was something really special and Astrid never thought that she would be doing it so young. She was still only 17 and had accomplished so much. 
She was in a really good mood and the team could tell. She usually had a fun, bubbly personality, constantly making jokes and pulling lighthearted pranks but today she just had an extra aura about her that instantly lightened the mood of everyone on the team. And they knew why. Not only had she been promised some minutes on the pitch this game, but tomorrow was her 18th birthday. Finally, the baby of the team was becoming an adult; legally at least. And she got to celebrate with her new family; her own unable to until she planned to go home for a little while, now that club season was over and the next camp wasn’t until late June.
The rest of the day was spent in focus mode, making sure everyone was warm and ready for what could be another tough game. 
The Matildas were off to a great start, taking possession of the ball and a good few attempts at scoring within the first 14 minutes before a corner from Steph and header from Sam secured their lead on the game. Only two minutes later and a great shot from the edge of the penalty box by Hayley, the ball just skimming past the goalie, had given them that extra leg up on New Zealand. 
A shot from Sam had brought them up to 3-0 before New Zealand secured their first goal in the extra time before the whistle blew for halftime and the substitutes got themselves up to warm up in the break. 
Astrid, Charli and Kyra found themselves chatting about Astrid’s upcoming birthday while practising passes and shots at the goal. 
“Guys it’s not that big of a deal.” Astrid spoke, taking a shot at the net with her right foot, surpassing Teagan’s attempt to block it, sending it right in the back, a small smile at Teagan before turning to the girls with confused expressions on their faces. 
“Not a big deal?” Charli used air quotes, stopping her small passes with Kyra. “First of all it’s your first birthday with the team,” She began counting her fingers as she walked closer to Astrid. “It’s tomorrow,” She counted a second finger.  “AND it’s your 18th. What is wrong with you?” Charli was clearly more passionate about this than Astrid, gripping the younger girl’s shoulder, trying to look stern but failing, letting out that signature smile. 
“I’m with Charli.” Kyra had stepped forward to the pair. Astrid bit her top lip, staying silent, contemplating Charli’s reason. 
“Ugh fine. I guess we could do something,” Astrid finally gave in. “But!” She lifted a finger, Charli and Kyra grinning slightly. “Nothing crazy okay, everyone is about to go back to clubs so they probably want to relax.” Astrid spoke, grunting softly as they engulfed her in a hug after sharing a sneaky smirk with one another. 
The second half of the game had finally started, and even with a few misses at a shot, the Matildas were still doing well. Substitutions had been made for both sides, all the Aus subs continuing to keep warm and moving on the sidelines. It was at the 70th minute that Alanna went down from a head collision, resulting in a broken nose and having to leave the pitch. That led to Charli being subbed on a few minutes later as a defender, happiness from Astrid growing for Charli and worry growing for Alanna as she was taken to the changeroom. 
Again with only 15 minutes until full time, Astrid got to take her place on the pitch, subbing for Caitlin in the left forward position, the coaches hoping her fresh legs might help gain them another goal before the end of the game. And they were right. 
The ball was shot far from Lydia, sending it to the midfield where Sam had collected it, heading for the goal but ran out of space, shooting it over to Astrid who shot it through the goalie’s still legs as she expected a higher shot, and slotted it right in the back of the net. The crowd roared, Astrid ran directly to the midfield where most of the team watched the shot, immediately covering the young girl with their bodies, screaming and yelling at her goal that brought them to 4-1. 
The huddle of players parted, Charli making sure to press a kiss to Astrid’s forehead before they both ran off to their positions again with wide smiles. The final whistle blew and Australia had won against New Zealand again, Astrid fighting the urge to run and celebrate with her friends, instead calmly shaking hands with the opposition and sharing clap hugs with her teammates. 
The team all get to their huddle after a few minutes, happiness running high through them about the successful win, waiting for Tony to begin his speech. 
“You’ve been phenomenal in terms of focus and what you can control. Two good games, two wins. This is the closure of the camp now, so that you can enjoy the time with your families tonight, happy birthday to Astrid for tomorrow. Safe travels. Good luck in your club, okay? Looking forward to see you next camp. Good job, everyone.” He wrapped and everyone disconnected to start clapping. 
Family and friends were invited down onto the pitch, Harper being snatched up by Mini the second she saw her and Astrid slowly moving to approach the mother and daughter. 
“Hi Harper.” Astrid waved at the baby in Mini’s arms. 
“Say hi.” Katrina picked up one of Harper’s arms, waving at the player as a smile grew on the baby’s face. “Good job again today Astrid, nice shot.” Mini looked up at the teen. 
“Thanks Mini. Welcome back officially.” Astrid met the older woman's eyes and smiled. They both turned in the direction of both teams gathering on the pitch around Aivi, all of them moving closer to the huddle, Astrid going to stand with Kyra and Charli like always. 
Aivi was shaving her head today in honour of her brother and donating it in a bid to raise $30,000 for brain tumour research. Everyone cheered on as they watched the brave woman, all running over when it was done, patting and rubbing her bare head as tears sprung in everyone's eyes. 
The next morning Astrid had awoken in her and Charli’s hotel room to most of the team, balloons filling the air, and all the girls screaming happy birthday as soon as her eyes had opened. Her heart pounded against her chest at the fright of seeing at least 20 more people in her room at 9am, screaming in her face.
After letting out a quiet ‘fuck’, Astrid’s next reaction was to crawl back under the sheets feeling surprised, shocked and extremely loved in that very moment that the first thing she thought to do was to hide from it. The room filled with laughter and cheers, watching as Kyra and Charli pulled back the sheets and wrapped their arms around Astrid who was about to cry. 
“Aye, she’s finally an adult like the rest of us. Took long enough.” Macca yelled from in the room, everyone laughing along with her, Astrid just looked her dead in the eye. 
“Does that mean you’ll stop calling me kid?” She cocked her head at the goalkeeper. 
“No.” Mackenzie spoke with a dead face.
“Absolutely not.” Alanna chimed in and everyone shook their heads. Everyone gives Astrid a hug and wishes her another happy birthday before leaving, now just Kyra as the only person out of their assigned room. Kyra and Charli approached Astrid on her bed with presents in each of their hands. 
“Guys, no. You seriously did not need to do all of this.” Astrid could burst into tears with the amount of love she was receiving from her friends. 
“Of course we did.” Kyra came to sit beside Astrid, holding a small bag. 
“You’re part of the team, our best friend and as I said yesterday,” Charli paused, trying to emphasise her next point. “It’s your fucking 18th birthday.” Charli smiled and then sat down on the other side of Astrid, placing a box in front of her. 
“I love you guys so much.” Astrid pulled the girls in with an arm over each of their shoulders, turning to place a kiss on their cheeks. 
“Love you too, now open them please.” Charli was bursting with excitement to watch her open the gifts. 
“This one is just from us.” Kyra handing the small bag over to Astrid. 
“Thank you.” Astrid smiled, taking the small bag from Kyra’s hand. A little white box was inside, pulling it out to open it. “Oh my god.” Astrid gasped at the ring that was inside the box. It was a simple silver ring, an oval plate in the middle that was engraved with a small soccer ball. 
“Do you like it?” Kyra shyly spoke after watching Astrid inspect the ring closer. 
“I love it.” Astrid spoke, tears forming in her eyes. 
“Good, because now we all match.” Charli smiled, herself and Kyra bringing up their hands to show the same ring on their own fingers. Astrid pouted before the tears of joy ran down her face. She had never felt more loved by two friends. “Oh, star.” Charli used the nickname she had given Astrid in their first camp. 
Upon deciding that she couldn’t shorten her full name, Charli began to call her ‘star’ or ‘stargirl’ because her name sounded like something to do with the stars; later the rest of the team adopted it on and off the field. Astrid really liked it and anything was better than Macca teasing her and calling her ‘Asteroid’ or ‘As-turd’; although Astrid did think it was quite funny. 
The girls brought the crying girl in their arms again, laughing at her reaction and glad she enjoyed their gift. 
“Okay, enough crying. Open the next one.” Kyra spoke, Astrid wiping her face and letting out a small laugh. 
“This is a bit of something from everyone.” Charli moved the box closer to the birthday girl. 
Astrid opened the box to reveal a bunch of little goodies; a few cards, little bottles of alcohol, some Taylor Swift nic-nacs and other small presents. Astrid examined every one of them, reading every card and letter as the other girls got up to give her some personal space. They also collected some birthday hats they bought, along with a ‘18th birthday’ sash for her to wear. 
“This is way too much, thank you.” Astrid jumped up, running to give them a hug again. 
“Of course not, you deserve it.” Charli pressed a kiss to Astrids head. “But enough of this, we’re going to be late for breakfast if we don’t hurry up.” They all looked at the time and realised they had to be down in 10 minutes. 
To Astrid’s surprise, the rest of the day was spent with the team as she thought most of them would be leaving today to go back to club. But when Kyra and Charli notified them of the important birthday a few months back, they all decided to stick around an extra day and celebrate their youngest member. She was showered with love throughout their team breakfast, when they went for a picnic lunch and then at a nice dinner where a cake was being brought out. 
“Happy Birthday to Astrid, happy birthday to you.” The table cheered, taking photos and videos of Astrid and her cake, a wide smile on her face. 
“HIP HIP!” Charli led the entire restaurant who had joined in. 
“HOORAY!”
“HIP HIP!” 
“HOORAY!”
“HIP HIP!” 
“HOORAY!” Everyone clapped as Astrid leant forward to blow out the candles, silently making her wish that she could be with this group of people forever. 
“Okay, now you have to skull your drink.” Sam who was sat across from Astrid pushed the girl’s almost full cocktail towards her. Her mouth opened in confusion. “It’s tradition, kid. It’s what you do at your 18th.” Sam simply shrugged her shoulders, Astrid looking to her other teammates who were nodding with grins, some holding their phones out to film her. 
So she picked up her drink and began drinking it fast, trying not to spill any on her new dress. Everyone cheered and clapped until she was done and she wiped her mouth, showing off her empty drink. 
A lot of the team members had left after dinner, opting to for an early sleep before their international flights, rather than taking Astrid clubbing for the first time. Those who remained with Astrid included, Kyra, Charli, Cortnee, Courtney, Clare Wheeler, Teagan, Ellie with Caitlin and Steph acting as chaperones for the youngsters. 
Flash forward to 2am and the last remaining partiers stumbled into the hotel lobby by the guide of Steph and Caitlin. Charli and Cortnee held Astrid up with either of her arms, Courtney and Kyra following behind, Steph and Caitlin just watched all of them drunkenly walk to the lifts, trying not to laugh. They all eventually made it to their rooms, Steph instructing Charli to call her in case something happened with Astrid who was drunker than her. 
Charli guided the girl who was almost passed out into their room and sat her down on her bed. 
“Star, hey.” Charli stopped Astrid from falling asleep. “You’ll be mad at me tomorrow if we don’t get this makeup off and out of this dress. So just stay awake for a few more minutes. Okay?” Astrid nodded silently, using Charli’s outstretched arms to pull herself up and walk to the bathroom. 
With makeup removed, teeth brushed and now both in pyjamas, Charli led the drunk girl back to her bed and helped her under the covers. As soon as Astrid’s head hit the pillow, she was out cold. Charli snapped a quick photo before falling asleep in her own bed.
Safe to say it was a good night out when Astrid woke up with a pounding headache, the natural sunlight pouring into the room harsh on her eyes, quickly pushing her face back into her pillow with a grunt. 
“Oh welcome back from the dead.” Charli laughed as she walked out of the bathroom, Astrid lifting her head slowly to give the girl a death stare. “How do you feel, party girl?” Charli sat at Astrid’s feet, watching the girl slowly sit up, hands rubbing her face. 
“Fucking shit.” She laughed as she met Charli’s face. “I went hard didn’t I?” Astrid rubbed her temples, attempting to ease the pounding in her head but it wasn’t working. 
“Oh yeah. You did. Come on.” Charli laughed, hitting Astrid's feet as she stood herself up. “Let’s go soak up all that alcohol with food, coffee and water.” Astrid groaned but slowly got out of bed. After a shower and some fresh clothes, Charli and Astrid had made their way to the team breakfast room again where most of the team still sat, Astrid may have walked in with a pair of sunnies over her eyes. 
“She made it through the night everyone!” Mackenzie threw an arm over Astrid’s shoulder as she rolled her eyes at the goalkeeper. She nudged her away and flipped her the bird with a smile before walking over to the coffee station. 
“Fun night then?” Hayley asked as Astrid sat down next to her with an iced coffee and some buttered toast. 
“Yeah… I think. I don’t remember a lot actually…” She took her sunnies off and rubbed her eyes. “I better ask the babysitters.” She directed her head over to where Steph and Caitlin sat. 
“First night drinking and you got black out. Nice.” Sam reached across the table for a fist bump which Astrid loosely returned, shaking her head slowly, which ended up bringing back the headache that was fading into the background. 
Everyone finished their breakfast slowly, taking in these last moments of camp together because not all of them would be together for quite a while. A lot of the senior players were going into an off season soon after returning to their international homes and taking a break for the first time in a while. 
Everyone caught a flight together back to Sydney from Canberra before separating for their international and domestic flights, saying goodbye to each other in the departure terminals. 
Kyra, Courtney and Charli were the last people Astrid had to say goodbye to, the three of them heading back to Sweden and Astrid sticking behind in Sydney. 
“I’m going to miss you guys so much.” She brought them all in for a group hug quickly. 
“It’s okay, we’ll be back together for the next camp soon.” Charli hugged Astrid singularly, squeezing her close to her one last time. 
“Where hopefully we all get some more playing time.” Courtney smiled at the youngest girl. 
“And we can have even more drunken nights with miss party animal over here.” Kyra teased, Astrid pushed her shoulder lightly, shaking her head. 
“Alright, you guys better go before you miss your flight.” Astrid nodded at them to go, putting a small smile on her face that hid the fact she was quite sad she wasn’t going with them. One day, hopefully. “Have a safe flight. Love you.” Astrid called out as they walked away. 
“Love you stargirl. I’ll text when we land.” Charli yells back before they are out of view. 
“Ready to go?” Cortnee came up behind Astrid, she had been patiently waiting for her to say her goodbyes after her own with other teammates. 
“Yeah, sorry for making you wait.” Astrid apologised as they wheeled their luggage out of the doors and began making their way to Cortnee’s car they left parked before camp. 
“No, it’s all good. I get it.” Cortnee smiled over at Astrid. They made their way back to Astrid’s apartment where Cortnee dropped her off. They said their own goodbyes, Astrid promising to text her later as she made her way inside. 
Her place was small, one bed, one bath, a kitchen and a living room, but she didn’t need much more for just herself. She was leaving again to go back home tomorrow, seeing her extended family for the first time since Christmas to celebrate her birthday with them. That meant she had the next 16 hours to unpack, repack, sleep and get on the road to Bateau Bay.
She also had to think about the next club season and what that looked like for her. Her short contract with Sydney FC was officially over and her agent hadn’t contacted her just yet about whether that was going to continue or if other clubs were looking at her for the 2022/2023 season. Hopefully she would know soon and her future would be clearer than it is now.

Thinking about JK and seven's success in the context of Taylor's recent streams bomb is fascinating. Yes her numbers are crazy but let's think about it - everyone on social media is talking about her and the album and they have been for weeks. I was listening to a political podcast and they signed off with the guy saying he's going to listen to the album ahead of time to make sure it's ok for his 5 year old daughter to listen to. She's literally a household name - even in households like mine where my parents do not keep up with with western artists. Yeah a lot of her numbers are stacked because of versions and payola and every platform pushing the hell out of her BUT STILL - there's something behind that push. People are tuned in! Everyone who's tuned into the cultural zeitgeist knew TTPD was coming. Same with Olivia Rodrigo - yes she has an aura of industry plantness - getting pushed right out of the gate and becoming a darling of critics everywhere for your debut album doesn't just happen. But again, her albums are GOOD. The songs are well written and she was clearly deeply involved in every step of the way. Everyone knows driving license and the story behind it. Payola as a concept is annoying especially when so many deserving artists get ignored because they don't have it but it's undeniable that after artists like TS and OR get all this payola, their songs become the moment. Everyone's buzzing about them and listening to their albums.
What is seven? It's numbers are at TS and OR levels right? If you think about it seven debuted with more streams than djo's end of the beginning did and it's charted higher for longer. But which song launched who as a solo artist to the GP that Hybe desperately wants? A song with numbers at that level but what is the ground level reality of its popularity? The most telling thing is that after that completely insane debut seven had, if it was really such a great song that everyone incl the GP had tuned in for, those people should've at least checked golden out. That is the point. That was scooters strategy. Have seven become the next baby or driving license and capture the GP interest so it sustains for the rest of his debut.
The point is that people will compare his numbers to other kpop acts but he didn't get a kpop debut. He got the kind of debut and platform push TS and OR get. So his numbers are good at a kpop level but did it achieve the objective? I have to imagine the objective was that JK became the next JB or the next OR or....as Hybe keeps trying to do, it was for him to become the next BTS. No, Hybe can keep trying to push a particular narrative because JK is their sunk cost fallacy, but inspite of goldens streams and sales eclipsing others, his debut was not successful.
It is irony because people can and will bring up his numbers in relation to Jimin or Tae or lesserafim or whoever and act like JK is doing amazing but I'm telling you now that the reason JK's debut makes me so angry is because if Jimin had had that world cup stage for a solo debut, that humongous deal wouldn't have just been a footnote of cool places BTS have performed at. It would have been a noteworthy performance. We have ten years of his solo stage to prove that. It's this wasted potential that gets me so heated up about JK because of all the opportunities he got. Compare the payola put in versus results gotten and the mediocrity is staggering considering what I mentioned other artists have achieved with that payola level in my first paragraph. The only reason I think about JK is because of this - it drives me mad.

i must've said this last year already but yes, he had a bigger debut and numbers (after debut) compared to other kpop or korean acts, but he was really nowhere people like Taylor or Harry, to whom everyone compared him to. Let's not even talk about Michael Jackson and how hard they tried that he'd be namedropped alongside Jungkook.
The most important difference to me is that people RESPECT Taylor. They respect Harry, and they respect Michael even so many years after his death. Soloist Jungkook doesn't have that respect. BTS might've gotten really close to have it, but not them as soloists. Part of it might be because he's korean, sure; but more than anything, he doesn't have people's respect because he has not earned it. Period. He hasn't done anything that would gain him people's respect or admiration.
Taylor had a moment where she lost people's respect too - she went completely MIA, didn't show her face in public for years, she was the laugh of the town. Granted, a lot of it was pushed by this insane, psychopathic hate culture and spurred on by Kanye West and Kim Kardashian simply because they're people who just like to get involved in shit. Taylor's never really had a scandal (she's actually a really sweet girl and so incredibly smart too), but because they -the Kardashians/Wests- thought it was fun to hate on her, they did it and everyone jumped on the bandwagon because if there's something people on the internet lack, that's a personality of their own.
Now she's regained all the success and people's affection she had before that, and ten thousands times more. The haters moved on, found jobs probably, Kim Kardashian isn't even that "big" anymore, nobody talks about her and Kanye is an unmedicated man roaming around with seemingly no direction whatsoever. Taylor came out of that being in a great space in her personal life, had spent a couple of years inside her home with someone who loved her, wrote and release lover and everyone flocked to it.
Then came folklore and evermore, which were the albums that really did it for her; those albums are crazy good and so different from everything else everybody was putting out that moment. Many people who'd previously thought she was too bubblegum pop, or that her songs were silly, changed their mind, started taking her seriously as a writer/singer and became fans after listening to folklore and evermore; and those people stayed. Those people are still listening to her music. This isn't something I see on the internet, but I went to her concert last November and everyone I talked to had become a fan in 2019 or after.
But she also knows how fickle it all is, and she's talked about it. Is she wrong for wanting to protect what she's worked all her life to build?

She's a business woman, it's true. And many "stans" on the internet hate that, for some reason that I really don't understand. Because taking the reins in their own careers is the only way people are able to survive in music, literally. I don't remember where she said it, but it was Beyonce precisely who said once that she didn't have a seat at the table, so instead she built her own table. That's Taylor, too. Not because Taylor was underprivileged or anything, and but in the business sense. These women don't become billionaires because they "only do music", there's millions of people out there, doing music on the streets. They become billionaires because they're doing business too.
Most people don't want others to be successful, or at the very least they aren't really hoping and praying you'll do well. Mostly they just don't care. And I've said this a lot of times in relation to BTS too - that all the members were looking out for themselves and their own solo careers and that was it. I've said before that Jimin is not a business man, and I don't expect him to ever be one, but I also wish for him to have at least one person standing by him and his decisions. It'd be great to believe doing arts today is all glitter and parties, but it's a business as much as being a wall street guy is.
Maybe it's so overwhelming to me because I've been a Taylor fan since 2008 right before fearless came out, but people really don't get how unprecedented her career is. I was 13 in 2008, the year my sister was born. Now, it's 2024 my sister is 16 and she's a Taylor fan. Without me even intervening, mind you, because we don't live together. We went to the concert because she wanted to go.
How many people can you say they had a career in music 20 years ago and not only are they still at it, but they're getting bigger with each passing year? Because I honestly couldn't name you one single person apart from Taylor.
Maybe I could say BTS if they were active right now, but that it's yet to be seen because the fandom did go downhill after butter. PTD wasn't as successful as butter or dynamite were, and let me not even mention the group songs that came after because that was embarrassing for them.
Also, another point but men rarely -if ever- bring anything new to the table. Armys, especially those who like Jungkook or Yoongi, are the epitome of hypocrisy because what has Jungkook done that's spectacular? Be shirtless? Please.

His songs were mid, the singing was mid, the dancing was below mid. They really are in no position to speak and shouldn't be taken seriously. And this takes me back to the respect thing and how he really didn't do anything to gain it.
For some reason I'm also thinking of Lana del Rey who was literally BEGGING people to listen to her album, and even said that she'd hoped her album would go viral and not that photo of her working in some fast food place. You have loser gays on twitter going lana this lana that, but they don't really respect her either.
This is something I've said before, too; but time really is the only proof of how "impactful" an artist is. Olivia's had a great run so far, but will people remember her or talk about her 10 years down the line? Is she still gonna be relevant? Is BTS still gonna be revelant? Is Jungkook gonna be relevant? Great debuts are great and all, but in the end it doesn't make an artist, as well as a bad debut doesn't break one either. I've also said this about Jimin before; that if he still wants to have a solo career after military, the only way to go should be up. This Taylor type of career where you get bigger with each release is literally everyone's dream and it actually proves that whatever you've been doing until that moment has worked and people can't get enough of you.

A Gaylor Interpretation of "Seven" post TTPD

Overblown Analysis Under the Cut ↓
So my song interpretations are often just one of my takes on a single song. For "Seven", I think every reading I've seen works basically. The general interpretation of the story of two kids being friends and the gaylor interpretation of those kids being in love whether they realize it or not make sense to me and I love that story. However, I love challenging myself to see songs in multiple ways, even in ways I haven't seen anyone else see them. And I want to share this different take on "Seven" being about "Peter" (at least I think it's different, I don't think I've seen exactly what I'm about to say before, but idk).
"Please picture me // In the trees // I hit my peak at seven feet // In the swing // Over the creek // I was too scared to jump in // But I, I was high in the sky // With Pennsylvania under me // Are there still beautiful things?"
Most takes on this song seem to take this song as not being personal for Taylor, but as a story she created, but I want to play with the idea of it being at least a bit personal, even if it's a fictional take on reality.
The first clue that it could be about Taylor more directly is that she mentions Pennsylvania, where she was born.
I find it interesting that we don't know how old the narrator is in the story they tell. "Seven" refers to how high the narrator swings, not their age. In "Fresh Out the Slammer", Taylor mentions how she used to sit on children's swings with her lover wearing imaginary rings, their age during that time on the swing also not being determined. "Robin" also mentions swings. To me, Taylor seems to see the swings as the peak of childhood/childlike innocence. The swing story is told in the past tense, so the narrator's childlike innocence must be behind them as they're beginning to wonder "Are there still beautiful things?" like there were in their swing days. To me, this song has always felt like an adult recounting childhood memories as if they were young again, and in this reading, I think Adult Taylor is talking to her younger self, Peter.
"Sweet tea in the summer // Cross your heart, won't tell no other // And though I can't recall your face // I still got love for you"
The mention of drinking something in the summer and keeping a secret reminds me of Taylor's unreleased song "Me and Britney" from 2003, a song that could also be read as Taylor having a childhood crush on a friend thanks to the lines, "That boy she ran off with, well, I thought he was crazy // Maybe I was just jealous that he'd come between me and Britney." But the line that concerns us here is "Me and Britney used to sit on the front porch drinking lemonade // Talking 'bout things no one else was ever supposed to hear // In the summer shade." There are also parallels to another unreleased song "Mary Jo", which mentions "So many questions answered // When I spent that summer with Jo". And of course, there are ties to another unreleased song called "Sweet Tea and God's Graces", a similar song to "Mary Jo" about learning through young love, which also mentions sweet tea, tire swings, and summer. I could never know if Taylor actually had feelings for her friend Britany Maack, who "Me and Britany" is allegedly (?) about, or the nature of their relationship. But it appears that Taylor is taking elements from her childhood and incorporating them into this queer-coded song.
Summer, daylight, and the sun seem to represent the freedom of knowing your queer and the ability to be so for Taylor, reflected in so many songs like "Daylight", "BDILH", etc. So maybe it's being used almost like a code to say that she's had a queer experience of some kind.
Especially in the 90s and early 2000s, if a kid found out they were queer they wouldn't tell anyone out of fear of homophobia and/or wanting to process it themselves. So older Taylor recounts that her younger self would "Cross (her) heart, won't tell no other" after summer/a queer experience.
As you get older and grow into your face, you somewhat begin to forget what you looked like as a kid. I know I look at old photos of myself and realize I forgot details. Taylor can't recall her own face as a child from memory, as it's been a long time since she's been a child, but she still has love for her younger self.
"Your braids like a pattern // Love you to the moon and to Saturn // Passed down like folk songs // The love lasts so long"
I did an analysis for "BDILH", and in that I mentioned that braids could symbolize taking your free, loose hair, or queerness, and tucking it back in a braid, hiding the queerness. Her younger self was closeted, so she has "braids like a pattern".
"Love you to the moon and to Saturn" is a play on the phrase "Love you to the moon and back" which is used to illustrate just how much you love someone. So why to the moon and to Saturn specifically? Maybe Taylor is saying that she has so much care for her younger self that it goes to the moon and Saturn combined. Or maybe, since Taylor illustrates not feeling like she belongs on earth like a human in several other songs like "Down bad" and "IHIH", she's saying that she loves her younger self to the moon and Saturn because she's not on earth. She's different, so she lives on Saturn, a planet that humans can't theoretically live on like Mars. I feel like there could be more to find with this Saturn lyric, so if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
Folk songs can be passed down for decades or maybe more, sometimes the origins of them being unknown (i.e. "The House of the Rising Sun" which has no known author and has been performed by countless people, essentially belonging to everyone and no one). Very similar to folktales, fables, and folklore. Queer history continues to be spread for centuries, even when the origins are murky. Queer people have existed since time itself, so "the love lasts so long".
"And I've been meaning to tell you // I think your house is haunted // Your dad is always mad and that must be why"
Okay, so I don't want to asses this line for too long when connecting it to Taylor on a personal level if the dad is her actual father, as it feels a bit uncomfortable for me personally, but I do want to address the line. Taylor has written about fathers in non-positive lights before. Take "You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes" and "You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter" from "Mine", or "Leaving like a father" from "Betty". The unreleased 2002 song "Can I Go With You?" is a song about a father angrily leaving his home after a spat with his partner and his child asking to go with him. There was also the argument Taylor got into with her dad in Miss Americana and the email leak from December of last year. I personally take "Tolerate It" as potentially being about Taylor's father only tolerating her identity and how that frustrates Taylor, so this lyric could also be in reference to any frustration that Scott Swift could have towards something about young Taylor. But I of course don't know Taylor's personal situation with her parents and I'm not personally accusing Scott of being abusive when I have such little information.
Honestly, the "dad" could also be Scott B, which might connect the song to Taylor's early career. I think I prefer that idea because I'm able to think about it more.
The way this line is worded feels like A) a child who knows something is amiss, but interprets the source of the problem as something unlikely like a ghost or B) an adult explaining something painful to a child in a way that wouldn't hurt the child as bad as the hard facts. I'm going to go with B for this reading. Adult Taylor says to her younger self that her house is "haunted" to soften the blow of whatever the problem is and help her understand. Younger Taylor might understand the dangers of a haunted house better than whatever the complicated truth is. Or maybe younger Taylor does understand the reality and older Taylor says "haunted" like a code word the two of them can understand, but not quite the listener. Mentioning "haunted" reminds me of Speak Now and its song by that name, which would connect it back to "Mine" again. And if the dad is actually Scott B, that reminds me of the story about Taylor having to call TS3 Speak Now because calling it "Enchanted" like she wanted was seen as too childish by Big Machine, connecting to childhood and never growing up again. Come to think of it, even the braids remind me of Speak Now and the "Mean" MV. (So now I'm wondering if the "careless man" was Scott B all along—that'd be something to ponder...)
"And I think you should come live with // Me and we can be pirates // Then you won't have to cry // Or hide in the closet // And just like a folk song // Our love will be passed on"
Taylor compares her younger self to Peter Pan in her song "Peter". Pirates play a big role in Peter Pan, of course. This also gives the song another connection to Taylor personally, as Taylor describes her younger self as in the age of "pirate ships" in "The Best Day". In "Peter", Taylor laments that her younger self was supposed to "grow up" and then "come find (her)", meaning her younger closeted self was supposed to finally grow out of the closet that hurts her so and be whole with her adult self. But, as stated in "The Archer" and "BDILH", Taylor never grew up, even when she wanted to, because of unforeseen circumstances like the master heist keeping her trapped. Here, Taylor asks a similar question, imploring her younger self to live with her so they can play and be whole. Pirates in real life could have gay partnerships with each other called "matelotage", so playing pirates might be like coming out. Then her younger self won't have to cry over who she is anymore. She won't have to hide in the closet. Then their unique love can continue to be passed on through history and to others.
"Please picture me // In the weeds // Before I learned civility // I used to scream ferociously // Any time I wanted // I, I"
I already talked about this line somewhat extensively in my "BDILH" analysis, so I'll keep an exact assessment of this specific line brief, but throughout this whole song, Taylor pleads to the listener to picture her younger, rather than her now, as she's been describing her younger self this whole time. As she says in the speech during "Daylight", Taylor wants to be defined by the things that she loves, not the things she's afraid of. The Lover coming out attempt reflected that, as there was barely any vitriol towards the industry portrayed in the album, compared to TTPD. If she came out then it would've been defined by her love, not the industry's abuse. Now she has a lot of anger and fear in her life, so she wants to be pictured before the closeting took its toll. Younger Taylor got to "scream ferociously" whenever she wanted, or be queer and "loud", but then she decided to take on her dreams of being a singer, a public figure, so she had to write her songs straight enough to pass as such and take on bearding, or learn "civility". And if playing pirates is like being out, it might require you to "scream ferociously".
The "I, I" being followed by nothing specific to it, but "Cross my heart, won't tell no other", makes me feel like something's being omitted. It's as if she wants to say more about being loud when she was younger, but then stops herself.
"Sweet tea in the summer // Cross my heart, won't tell no other // And though I can't recall your face // I still got love for you // Pack your dolls and a sweater // We'll move to India forever // Passed down like folk songs // Our love lasts so long"
Earlier in the song, Taylor described her younger self as not telling anyone about her queerness, but now she's crossing her own heart the same way. She never grew up. She's been left with no choice but to stay in the closet forever. But Taylor still sings of the summer, so her queerness isn't gone.
She tells her younger self to join her again, to pack and move to India with her. My best guess as to why India specifically is that India is far away. It was never mentioned in her music before and never again so far. It's not like New York, London, or even Pennsylvania, places where people would expect to find her thanks to her music and track record of frequenting those places. India is similar to Florida in her music, a place to escape from invasive eyes and troubles. It's like a more achievable version of the "better planet" from "IHIH".
And their love still lasts so long.

-Had ATLA released in the 90s I'd bet Dustin would be basing all his arsenal on Toph, maybe it's just me wanting to see civilian powers again but I hope he makes a return just to show off this lost creativity of non ranger powers that we had from Ninja Storm to Mystic Force.
One thing I wish would/had happened in the show
-Should've kissed a guy or had a power up of his own, well second part applies to all team members.
-idk why but the idea of an Evil Dustin via Lothor(like that one episode) as an arc would be interesting, actually cement how crazy the earth element can get with the right practice, from growing plants, controlling heated crust, explosions etc.
Headcanons
-No doubt about it Dustin can identity as Bi, Trans, Gay, Pan. No way that dude is straight cause he pretty much loves everyone.
-He lives happily in bliss but again it does lead to his downfall cause how can Dustin tell when someone is being rude to him, though being sad or angry leads to a lot of emotions coming out.
-He sometimes grows a little stubble for a beard and on his chest, low and behold the day he wears a v-neck out Hunter has to stop other students from charging at Dustin and dude is just unaware of it. This combo plus a flip of his curly locks and everyone around just falls over.
-While they like him the yellow rangers except for Kelsey, Chip and Katie banned him from being in group chats because he doesn't know WHEN TO STOP SPAMMIMG SHIT LATE IN THE NIGHT. Taylor would throw fried bird legs at his window for two weeks straight after he video called her while she was busy on a date...doing stuff
-Dustin and Shane have some of the weirdest conversations
Shane: Brazilian guys are so fucking hot, Hunter really scored huh.
Dustin: Yeah...wait what.
-the Ninja Storm team are one of the only teams that weren't captured by the whole Zedd fiasco during Cosmic Fury and honestly get roasting rights against those that did get captured. Like it's Zedd! Not even the real version, how does one get fumbled that badly, Dustin, Taylor, Chip and Lily having the time of their lives just calling out the BS.

Thanks for all the thoughtful messages and interesting asks, unfortunately also had to delete a few from trolls (I think a few of us got these from people who were quite aggressively pushing the idea that Karlie and the girl squad were a PR strategy…🙄)
Reminder that you will never get a response from me if you are trying to force an opinion on others or just want to belittle or hate on people with different beliefs to you. Also, in case I haven’t said it before, I won’t be discussing anything about Taylor’s relationship with her parents, her own parenting, any potential past relationships or anything considered too personal or invasive (by my own judgment). Yes that was a change in public image, possibly to get rid of the ‘serial dater’ image her previous PR team had created. But that’s where the facts end. If the VS fashion show to immediate best friends pipeline looks weird or fabricated, that’s because it was. That I will agree on. But it seems more likely to me that that was because this was a launchpad for the ‘gf as bestie’ story because Taylor was sick of hiding her love away totally and that was a middle ground that worked for a while. If people want to believe that a PR team would hire a gay woman to play another gay woman’s best friend to get rid of the boy-crazy image that said gay woman had because she had too many short-term beards, but also to make her casual gf jealous… sure, believe that if you want but don’t call us crazy next time. And in terms of it ‘working’, no it didn’t work, much the opposite actually. Taylor never lost so much of her ‘relatability appeal’ than when people thought all of her friends are rich white supermodels. She built an image on being the girl next door/ the one on the bleachers/ not the cheerleader/wears jeans and T-shirts and could be your bestie that a lot of other girls could relate to. She lost a lot of that in the girl squad era when people were suddenly shocked that a beautiful rich woman is mostly friends with other beautiful rich people. So, no, it did nothing for her image if that was the plan. And btw, although the squad may have disappeared, Taylor is still friends with all the same people now that she was shamed for hanging out with then. Lily, Cara, Martha, Gigi - she may not walk the streets with them anymore on a daily basis, but she’s very much still friends with a lot of models, almost like her partner works in fashion ;) Hope that answers your question.

The model and entrepreneur has teamed up with Thorne Health for their latest campaign.
Karlie Kloss has a lot going on at the moment.
Many recognize Kloss as a model who has graced the covers of magazines and walked several iconic runways (including the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show), and now, the mom of two and busy entrepreneur is featured in Thorne Health’s “Find Your Way” campaign.
“Find your way to wellness is something that just really resonates with me because my wellness continues to evolve as life evolves,” said Kloss.
As someone who has high expectations of herself, Kloss understands that everyone’s needs change as they age. She’s taken advice from nutritionists over the years as well as a test on the Thorne website. “I want to be both physically strong and also have the mental acuity to be able to keep up with my day-to-day juggle,” she said. “You don't have to be a health expert to find things that are going to make you feel better in your skin and help you perform better.”
In this exclusive interview, Kloss talks about her wellness goals (including a big race she has her eyes on), her thoughts on starting a podcast and what she’s listening to when she works out… and no, it’s not Taylor Swift (but she does have a favorite TS song these days).
Q: What workouts are you into? 
A: I try and squeeze in whatever I can, whenever I can. That's always been the case. Long before having kids, I've always been on-the-go traveling for my day job. Whether it’s 20 minutes for a quick run, or pushing my kids in a stroller —and it's not even a high intensity thing —but just moving my body. I love to do strength training and Pilates. I'm starting to get back into running again.
Q: Do you have any running goals in mind?
A: I actually had knee surgery two years ago, which was a crazy thing as a 20-something to go through. Recovering from that forced me to take better care of myself and also train differently and really focus on strength.
I am toying with the idea of attempting a New York City marathon again this year. That was the only full marathon I've done. I've done a number of halves in Paris and in Germany.
Q: Running and training for a marathon is no joke. What’s on your playlist?
A: I love an audiobook or a podcast. I feel like it keeps my mind busy as opposed to checking the time. There's this podcast that I'm recently obsessed with called acquired okay I what it's called Acquired. They do deep dives into businesses — two hour long episodes. around like because they did a really great one on Hermes and on LVMH, and Nvidia.
Q: Would you start your own podcast?
A: I am definitely like a lifelong student. I love learning. I love asking questions. I feel like that's always been my form of education. I feel so lucky that through my career I have been able to meet so many interesting people, and I'm constantly taking advantage of that access to learn from the people around me.
Q: On the note of interesting people: you went to The Eras Tour. Do you have a favorite song off of Taylor Swift’s new album?
A: I’d say the whole album. I mean, her music is classic.
Q: Do you have a favorite Taylor Swift song, historically? [In 2013, it was Love Story.]
A: She’s got so many hits. I definitely love “Shake It Off.”
Q: What other concerts are you looking forward to?
A: I was trying to make it to the Billie Eilish tour. I had a baby last summer, so I was very sad to miss Beyoncé.
Q: With all that you do, what other goals do you have?
A: I want to continue to focus on the things that are currently on my plate. I'm excited to continue growing Kode with Klossy. We have a big birthday this coming year. We're going into our 10th year. We have 3,000 young women and gender expansive teens in our camps right now across 90 countries around the world. That's my first baby.
My bucket list item is to complete my degree. I'm a long time student at NYU, in the Gallatin program, where you make your own degree. I have taken a ton of classes across all the different schools, which is the beauty of the program. Even once I get my degree, I'm just a student of life.

CTJL Monaco 2023 - Part I
Twinbrook, Georgia, USA & Monte Carlo, Monaco, Europe - beginning of September 2023.
Mia looked around at the bags and suitcases. She had checked everything at least four or five times now, but somehow something still felt like it was missing. “Everything all right?” Her dad looked at her from the door into her office where everything was placed until the departure. “I think so," Mia answered. “You look worried.” “No, I’m fine. I just… I feel like I’m missing something.” Mia looked at him with a frustrated smile. Peter let out a little laugh and planted a hand on her shoulder. “Have you made a list? And checked everything off - twice?” Mia couldn’t help but smile. Her dad did in fact know her too well sometimes. “I did. But..” “Let me see it,” Peter smiled and held out a hand to take the list from Mia. She gave it to him and sat down on the couch standing against the window-wall. Peter looked at the list, “ah, yeah, I see what you are missing”. Mia looked up, “what?”. “Ballerine”. Peter laughed. Mia couldn’t help but start to laugh as well, “Ha ha, funny dad”. Peter smiled at his daughter and took place in the office chair behind Mia’s desk. “Everything is going to be alright, just remember to breathe and have fun. You got this, and Ballerine got this. That horse will always have your back, don’t forget that.” Mia smiled, slightly. Her dad was right. She worried about something that wasn’t even a thing to worry about - at least not right now.
The last few weeks had been a bit crazy for Mia. Everything that had happened with the new house, the renovation, the horses… right now it was just one big blur inside Mia’s head, and every time she tried to focus, the anxiety kicked in. Mia had looked forward to this for the last six months. Everything was planned to perfection, and she was more than ready to just go. At least if you asked everyone else than her. Mia had started on an intensive training-schedule with the help of Ryan, and so far Ballerine had been the best Mia had ever felt during training. Yesterday they had their last training with Ryan before the departure for Europe tomorrow. But something still felt wrong. She wasn’t ready. Not at all. It felt like everything had changed within only a few weeks. Ali had been gone all summer for a modeling job in New York and London, and a few years ago Ali had said that she would most likely stay in Europe for a few more months. Mia had been thrilled on Ali’s behalf, but since Ali often helped out with both Ellie and the horses, Mia suddenly had way too many things to do at once. But as if someone was watching over her, a familiar face had reached out to Mia to ask for her help - and to also help Mia out; Olive Taylor.
Mia had known Olive for almost 10 years, maybe even more. Olive had been best friends with Logan’s sister, and had always had a big interest in Mia’s riding career when Mia and Logan had been dating. Olive had the biggest love for horses that Mia had ever seen. It had always felt bigger than her own love for horses. At the same time, Olive had always looked up to Mia, seen her as her icon, and even though it had felt a bit weird and annoying to have a thirteen year old trying to be you, Mia had always cared for Olive and their common interest for horses. Olive had reached out after returning to the States a few months ago. She had been working and living in Europe the last few years as a mix of an au pair and a groom with an european dressage rider. Now she was back in the States, in need of a job and a hope to get into riding again - how perfect could it be? 
Mia had invited Olive to Twinbrook a few weeks ago to catch up and have a talk about how Olive looked at her future. Olive had taken the first flight out of New York and arrived the next day. The two girls had a good time catching up, and after a few days - and a talk and some advice from her parents - Mia had offered Olive to be her ‘assistant’, which meant helping out with the horses and with Ellie. Olive had returned to New York to pack up her stuff and had started working for Mia the next week. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 
“Dinner is almost ready.” Mia looked up from the couch. She had been sitting in the office for the last couple of hours, first talking to her dad, and then going through every single thing once again. It had ended up with her falling asleep on the couch. Her mom smiled from the door and right behind her was the sound of a happy, light giggle. “Mommy, Uni!” Ellie came running in with her favorite teddy in her hands. Of course! Uni is the missing piece! Mia thought right away when looking at the Unicorn-teddy. Mia smiled at Ellie. “Come on you, let’s go.” Ellie giggled and ran out of the office again with Mia and Anne following along. Peter was about to get the last few things done before they could all sit down and eat together, just as planned, and just as they all loved to do.
The next morning Mia and Anne arrived at the stable early - and for one of the first times also before Ryan who normally always arrived first. Mia went in and started to get everything out into the horse truck. Some of the horses started to make a fuzz but quickly realized that Mia wasn’t going to bring them their breakfast. Soon after both Ryan and the stablehand arrived. “Are you ready to go?” Ryan quickly asked before starting to get the first horse of the day ready. “Yep, all set. I just need to get Ballerine ready and then we are off.” “Text me when you get there, so I know the flight went well for her”. Mia smiled and rolled her eyes at him when he turned around and went into the tack room, “I saw that”. Mia let out a laugh and grabbed the shipping boots and the halter outside Ballerine’s stall. “Hey you, are you ready to go?” She reached into her pocket and gave Ballerine one of the snacks she had put in there. Ballerine turned around towards her with her ears pointed forward and slowly took the treat from Mia’s reach-out-palm. “Good girl.” Mia placed the halter on Ballerine and started to place the shipping boots on the mare’s legs. She gave Ballerine a pet on the neck and a kiss on her pink nose. “You are the best girl, you know that right?” She hugged the mare and went out the stall to do the last check before it was time to load Ballerine into the truck with the help from her mom.
At exactly 7:30 am Mia and Anne left O’Neil Equestrian with Ballerine loaded in the truck. A  seven hour trip to Miami has started. The plan was all set for the next few days; Today Mia and Olive would drive Ballerine to Miami International Airport, which was one of four places in the US that was specialized in transporting horses by flight. After dropping off Ballerine, the girls would go back to Twinbrook, and tomorrow Peter would take Anne, Mia and Ellie to the Bridgeport International Airport where the three girls would be flying to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, and from there to Nice, France, where a car from the hotel they were staying at would be waiting for them to go to Monaco. The trip for Ballerine was a bit longer, since she would be flying from Miami to Frankfurt, Germany, and from there be loaded on a truck with other horses from the US which were going to compete at the same event as Mia and Ballerine. The flight from Bridgeport to Nice would take approximately 11 hours. Mia and Anne had planned to fly at night, mostly to make it easier for Ellie. Peter would go back to New York during the two weeks the girls would be away, and Olive would take care of everything back home in Twinbrook.
Olive had offered to join Mia on the trip to Miami, which also meant that the other horses were given a day off. Olive had been helping Mia with some light work with the horses, mostly groundwork and some light training or hacking out. Mia had been a bit nervous in the beginning, but it was very clear that Olive enjoyed the grooming and getting the horses ready for Mia to train. Olive was a big help, and she was such a sweet girl. Mia could see a lot of herself in Olive, which was a little scary, but also very nice to have an unspoken connection to someone who somehow always understood what you meant or wanted to do. The two girls had a lot of fun on the drive down to Miami. They only had one stop to check up on Ballerine. Arriving at the airport, they were met by a member of the company who was responsible for the care-taking of Ballerine during the flight and transportation to Monaco. Mia had been using the same company for the last 14 years - and somehow she always was able to get the same ‘groom’ to take care of her horse. “Hey Ben! Thank you so much for this again!” Mia had a big smile on her face when getting out of the truck. “No worries!" The man in front of her gave her a big hug and went on to help unboarding Ballerine from the truck. Mia had known Ben since the first time she had gone to Europe with a horse - at that time it was O’Malley. O’Malley had never really been a huge fan of the Europe-trips, but Ben had always had a calm and positive influence on the big horse, and Mia felt more than comfortable to leave Ballerine in Ben’s care. “Hello beautiful,” Ben went into Ballerine and took charge of everything from there. “I will keep in touch with you for every step. Right now it looks like we will arrive in Monaco on Sunday morning and have her installed at the show ground for you” Ben told while leading Ballerine into the departure stables. The flight was scheduled for tomorrow noon, Friday the 1st of September. The show in Monaco wasn’t going to start before Sunday the 10th of September. That gave Mia and Ballerine a week to settle in and hopefully get over the worst part of the jetlag. “Great! I’m arriving in Monaco Saturday evening with my mom, so I think we will be there when you arrive,” Mia smiled..
After unpacking the truck and closing up, Mia and Olive made a last check on Ballerine, and then headed back for the seven hour drive back to Twinbrook.

The flight from Bridgeport to Nice felt faster than it really was. Ellie had been such a star on the flight and had just fallen asleep shortly after take-off. Mia had always loved flying, some of the joy about it may come from flying First Class. After having Ellie she had started to feel the looks from the other passengers at the gate and when boarding - those looks that said ‘great, a crying kid for the next 10 hours’ - Sure she had given them herself before she got Ellie - but Ellie had somehow got the same joy of flying as Mia had. Ellie loved it when she was awake and was just a big bundle of joy and giggles for the other passengers. And most of the time she was actually just sleeping. Arriving at Nice, Anne took care of their hand luggage and Ellie and Mia grabbed the suitcases from the baggage belt before heading out to the arrival hall. They were quickly met by a chauffeur that led them to their car and took care of the luggage. The Nice weather was lovely with a sunny sky and the Mediterranean late-summer feeling. The trip from the airport in Nice to the beautiful hotel in Monte Carlo took half an hour. The chauffeur was polite, asking what their business for their visit was. He seemed genuinely interested and excited in the show. It was a big event for the population of Monaco. Mia felt the nerves getting back, but after getting into their hotel room and starting to unpack, everything felt more comfortable again. 
Mia, Anne and Ellie spent most of the afternoon at the hotel pool before having dinner at the hotel. Ben had texted Mia earlier in the day that the flight had went very well, and that they would start on the drive to Monaco later in the evening. Mia, Anne and Ellie went to bed early so Mia could get to the showground before Ballerine arrived. The next morning Mia went over to the stable area - a short drive for only 10 minutes By foot it would take them approximately half an hour, since they could walk through some of the pedestrian areas of the town. Mia just arrived at the same time as the trucks started to roll into the area. Mia had been down here yesterday for a quick look and to collect their access passes, while Anne had taken care of Ellie. She had arranged that Anne and Ellie would come over later in the day, but for now she would have to take care of Ballerine.
The horses were quickly unboarded by the crew members and installed into their designated stalls in the many stable tents. A lot of the stalls were still empty but Mia was sure it was only a matter of time before they would all be filled within the next two or three days. Ballerine looked a bit tired of the long trip, but as always she had her ears pinned forward when Mia was near her. Mia quickly got everything set up - the stall curtain was hung on the front of the stall to give Ballerine some privacy. Mia changed Ballerine’s transportation-halter to one of her own, placed the show number on it, and led Ballerine outside for a walk. She had been standing still for lots of hours, so Mia had to make sure to have her out. The show ground was huge - multiple smaller arenas for warm up and training during the days, the big Main Arena with a fantastic view to Port Hercule right next to it, and lots of things to look at for the audience and VIPs. Ballerine was a bit tense but followed Mia as they walked around. It was a good decision to arrive a week before so Ballerine could get lots of time to settle into the surroundings and energy of the competition grounds. 
After having Ballerine out for an hour of hand-walk and grazing, Mia let Ballerine rest in her stall and met up with Anne and Ellie to take a better look at the showgrounds. This was most likely the biggest event Mia had been to during her short show jumping career. She had been to a lot of different competitions around Europe and the US with O’Malley, but something felt so different with this event. And the nerves? They had quickly changed to excitement.
