a/n: it's 2am so i'm striking with another update lmao 💜 is2g after i'm done with this event you guys will be throwing up at the slightest mention of a heeseung drabble

Stopping dead in his tracks, Heeseung looks at you with confusion. He's just come back from work only to see your curled up posture on the couch, one that you have once claimed to hate sleeping on, which makes him wonder if he did anything to annoy you to such degree today. Silently, he runs over every little thing he's said to you, considering how or why could they make you so angry that you didn't want to sleep with him tonight.

He gives up eventually and walks up to you with a sigh. His tall figure steps in front of you, disturbing you from watching the newest episode of your favorite tv show. You peek up at him from above the blanket covering you from your feet all the way up to your nose.

"Oh, you're back!' You gasp happily, dropping the blanket down to stretch your arms out in a form of a hug invitation.

There's not even the slightest tint of anger in your voice which slightly calms Heeseung's nerves. He plops down next to you, instantly wrapping his arms around your smaller body.

Then he asks, clearly still bothered. "Why don't you wanna sleep with me tonight? Your back is gonna hurt from the couch again."

You internally coo at his worried face, big deer eyes peering at you with confusion. You smile sheepishly.

"There's a spider in our bedroom."

A spider. In our bedroom. It takes him couple seconds to even process your words properly. All of the tension leaves his body like air from a pierced balloon and he groans, pinching the bridge of his nose in between his fingers.

"And here I was worrying that I said something wrong or shit," he sighs, glancing at your pleading face from the corner of his eyes. He sighs again. "Fine. I'll be right back."

"Just don't kill it!" You call after him, pulling your knees up to your chest. "Catch it and let it out, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. I know," he dismisses you with a wave of his hand before disappearing behind the wall.

You wait patiently for him to come back, wiggling your feet happily as you realize you'll actually be able to fall sleep tonight without having to stress about this little anomaly.

"There's no spider in here, YN!"

Your blood runs cold. What does he mean no spider. It was there half an hour ago, carelessly dangling from your ceiling right above your pillow.

You're still stiff when Heeseung comes back from the bedroom and crouches down in front of you. Placing his hands on your knees and squeezing them gently, he brings your attention back to him.

"You sure you didn't imagine it?"

His question has you scoffing and you cross your arms over your chest. "Yes, I'm sure," you say, squinting your eyes at him. He only rolls his own pair at your dramatic behavior. "Have you really checked everywhere?"

"Every single corner," he assures, placing his palm on his chest, right where the heart beats underneath his skin. "I promise it's not there. Must've ran away or something."

You stubbornly shake your head. "I'm not going anywhere. Heeseung, there's a beast roaming around our bedroom somewhere."

"Lord, give me patience," he murmurs quietly, deflating underneath your hard expression again. "Love, just please, come to bed," he groans, slowly giving up on the idea of actually getting any sleep tonight. He drops his head down on your lap. "I swear it won't come near you, alright? I'll tuck you in so tightly that it won't even find a place to slip underneath the covers."

You sigh, grabbing his hand hopefully. "You promise?"

He raises back to his feet, leaning down to press a kiss on your pouty lips. "I promise."

He lets out an internal cheer when you finally nod your head. Heeseung pecks your lips again, then repeats the gesture a little more fervently couple more times before slipping an arm underneath your knees and throwing you over his shoulder. He smacks your butt gently, earning an annoyed combo of a groan and a click of your tongue from you.

"Now, let's finally go to bed. I swear I haven't had a good night's sleep ever since I met you."

So I came upon your blog while looking through the asoiaf tag and explored it a bit. Would you please explain to me how are you against Targaryen incest, but find Jonsa fine? I’m genuinely curious, as I’ve just started reading the books (I’m half-way through a storm of swords) and find nothing fine about any form of incest, whether it is or not considered as such in-universe. I also find little to no Jonsa moments. Could you help me? Thank you!

okay so first of all i got sent an ask forever ago about what the appeal of jonsa is and i’ve been working on explaining basically where i see the plot going and why it’s thematically relevant and is2g i’m still actually putting it together it’s just doing that in a middle of a reread is tough bc my ideas are kinda all over the place lmao (just like this ask is about to be sorry!) (also once again, sorry if my tone comes across very weird, i swear i reread like twelve times to make sure i don’t sound too snarky and wasn't just vomitting up a thousand words of nonsense lmao!!).

BUT. Well there’s three points to this: what the characters may feel, what i feel about jonsa, and what i feel about targ incest. so first the characters:

I think it’s important to point out that first cousin marriage (and auncle/nibling marriage, esp if it’s a “half” relation) are not considered true incest in westeros and in many parts of our world. rickard and lyra, ned’s parents, are cousins. joanna and tywin lannister are first cousins. jonnel and sansa and edric and serena are uncle/nieces, and you’ll note that when alys karstark comes to jon for help, he is disgusted that her uncle is trying to steal her inheritance and not that he’s her uncle attempting to marry her. i point this out because not only is there nothing legally stopping a jonsa marriage, the characters themselves may also see it that way (as not incest). and if your next point is “well they grew up thinking they’re siblings” my answer is - yes and? One of the influences on this series is Mervyn Peake, who wrote gothic medieval stories, and both incest and pseudo-incest is very much a big part of gothic stories! A lot of the storylines in this world are dedicated to exploring incest as a force of socialization and romanticism, from Naerys pleading to live “as brother and sister” and Aegon insisting “we already are” to Alysanne’s “Alyssa is meant for Baelon” to Jaime’s “he heard none of it" in the sept. I don’t think it’s that far of a stretch to posit that two characters we have POVs for will fall in love and grapple with what that love says about them, about society, about their role in the world - and in fact, about half of Jon’s most popular ships are between him and a female relative. Sansa makes more sense to me because she’s closer to his age than Arya, has a more troubled relationship with him, is involved in the political aspects of the story just as much as he is, and isn’t likely to immediately start setting people on fire after they meet.

Now as for me, basically - i think both types of incest are the result of socialization + extreme trauma, and I fully expect that if Jonsa goes canon it will have a tragic ending. I think Jonsa takes some of the inherent misogyny of targ incest and plays around with it - Jon having significantly less societal privilege than basically every other Targaryen and what that means for Sansa as an heiress - but just because I think an exploration of that dynamic will be interesting, doesn’t mean I don’t expect it to be rife with problems.

because the problem with incest is the power dynamic ultimately, and you cannot escape that power dynamic bc people don’t exist in a vacuum. For all the Starks have some fucked up skeletons in their closet, Lyanna doesn’t show up in Ned’s bed naked and ask him to stop her betrothal to Robert, does she? This is the fundamental difference between targ incest and Jonsa or even Lannicest; Lannicest is rampant with toxicity from both of those deranged weirdos but they feel entitled to each other's bodies because of their own trauma surrounding their tumultuous childhoods (and probably some normalization of incest from their parents and proximity to Aerys/Rhaella/Rhaegar), but no one is saying "Jaime you are owed Cersei's body" or "Cersei your womb belongs to your brother and your brother alone." So I don't feel the need to sit here and go "Lannicest is toxic" like yeah? Clearly, lmao, these two feel like they are so damaged, and made so special by that damage, that they can only love one another, that's not what anyone would call healthy. I don't think it's necessary to sit here and explain that dynamic has abuse problems; it's right there in the text!

"well what about the power dynamic between jon and sansa?" YES WHAT ABOUT IT. that's the point! i'm interested in how a dynamic that is inherently abusive will play out between two people who were raised to believe some types of incest are okay but not others, who are victims of abuse and societal alienation themselves. because at the same time that i condemn targ incest, there are obviously real feelings and genuine care in these relationships and in these people, because again, people don't exist in a vacuum. daemon backs rhaenyra into this corner and then crucially does not kill any of her children because he realizes that's a step too far, she'd never forgive it, perhaps even because he grew to love them (i mean, Lucerys and Joffrey likely barely remember any other father but Daemon!). maegor is a monster who very specifically never harms rhaena's daughters! aemon is a useless pos but it seems likely he had a hand in raising naerys' son to be better than aegon because he could see the harm he and his brother were doing to naerys even if aemon was too much of a coward to actually stop that harm in any meaningful way! the difference, to me, is that jon will see that this relationship built on trauma and grief may be the only love he and sansa will ever allow themselves to feel but it is not healthy for them, and jon will leave! and sansa will realize she is not the impassive, frozen, detached symbol that the men around her want her to be, but a living, breathing person with her own wants and desires and agency, and will let him go!

Ultimately, while i think romanticizing and sexualizing the taboo is fine and even healthy, for me, there has to be some acknowledgement that you are in fact romanticizing the taboo. This is why the shitty dudes in asoiaf work for me in a way shitty dudes outside of asoiaf don’t usually - my general bitching about parts of the narrative that don’t click for me aside, there’s firm condemnation of the people engaging in these behaviors, from cersei sexually abusing lancel to sandor creeping on sansa. just because the narrative also shows us and wants us to feel empathy for sandor and cersei and why they’ve become bad people doesn’t mean what they’re doing isn’t bad. that’s what i like! i don’t want a story that holds my hand and drags me to the moral nor do i want a story that presents a god awful person who is supposed to be morally upright and not mean for us to dig deeper into them!

(this is why i like the pt but not the st of star wars, if you want an example - for all the prequels are um. flawed. lucas has an overreaching story about the effects of war, slavery, and interpersonal abuse that he’s dedicated to, and we are meant to be horrified by anakin choking padme just as surely as we’re meant to mourn their relationship and love for each other when palpatine gleefully tells anakin she’s dead and ani destroys the room in grief. vs like. what were the sequels even fucking doing man).

So the thing here is that I actually do in fact find Targaryen incest interesting while being morally repugnant as a practice, and I'm positive Jonsa will play around with both the morality of incest and the romanticism of it in a way that I find just as interesting, varied, romantic, and fulfilling as like, the Jaime/Cersei(/Brienne/Tyrion) mess or the Daemon/Rhaenyra/Laena/Harwin debacle! I like incest and I also hate it! I contain multitudes!

as reyna gets older and realises that polycules aren't the norm, do you think that's something she would get kind of confused about? confused isn't the right word but do you think she'd ever talk to her dads/ahri about how unconventional their family is?

Yeah. When she’s just starting daycare, I think the adults are relying on the fact that she’s a kid to get away with the whole “I have multiple dads” thing. Esp when she draws their family and a teacher is like “who’s that” and she proudly says “me with my mommy and daddies!” and the teacher is like “uhhhh what”; Johnny would have to laugh it off when the teacher asks him about it during pick up. “Those are my group mates, her uncles. Cute.” And then at home they all have to sit down with Reyna to explain that she can’t call them her dads in public. “Why not?” “Well, because other people wouldn’t understand……” You try explaining polyamory to a baby 😂 So they just land on calling the boys uncles instead.

“I have three boyfriends too, eoma!”

The slow stop and turn around from the boys is like a fucking horror movie is2g— “You what?” Ahri asks. “Jun-kun, Chanwoo-kun, and Yeongjae-kun all love me!” Yuta’s pulling out the fucking school directory for their addresses, and Taeyong’s trying to stop him because Yuta can’t go fight three toddlers. “We’re just like you guys!” Jungwoo’s in shambles- His sweet, innocent, adorable little Reyna is having her first playground crushes! No kid is good enough for his daughter! “Yuta, give me one of the addresses—“ “You can’t beat up a 4 year old, aigo,” Doyoung says, smacking Jungwoo upside the back of the head. All Reyna’s ever known is what her family is….. So having 3 playground boyfriends is normal to her, and all the teachers and other parents just laugh it off as innocent childhood behavior, but the boys are a little concerned that maybe they’ve explained things wrong to Reyna or need to explain some more when she’s able to understand….

When she’s a bit older, she’ll come home after a playdate and be like “Why do my friends only have one dad? Where are the rest of their dads?” So round 2 of trying to explain the whole thing begins. Reyna gets it a little bit more….. their family is unique, 99.99999% of people aren’t like them, so that’s why they can’t tell anyone— to keep it a super special secret between them! So when her “uncles” pick her up from playdates, sleepovers, field trips, etc. she smiles because it’s their special secret. She doesn’t find it weird. Not yet. ‘Cause she still doesn’t completely understand until even later when she herself starts to have legit crushes and not just stupid playground crushes that last an hour before nap time. Everyone around her only likes one guy or one girl. In the halls, couples are made up of just that- couples, pairs of two. Having multiple crushes is fine, but she can only be with one person… And she doesn’t get that. What makes her different from her parents? She’s growing up, she can make her own decisions, right? Why do others have to dictate what she does…… Is this how her parents felt? Is that why they can’t tell anyone they love each other, or show affection outside of the house, and that she has to call all of her dads except Johnny her “uncles”.

I think in her pre-teen years she’d grow to dislike their family because of that. Even though they’re always there for her, cheering her on, being the best dads they can be, Reyna’s preteen years are a fucking whirlwind. Who knew Hyuck and Jungwoo could be out-brat? She protests calling them dad even in the house, so they either get their names or “uncle”. Taeyong’s eye twitches when it first happens. “Leave me alone, Taeyong!” “WHO??!!!” “You! Get out of my room!” And as the door slams on his face, Taeyong’s like “Did I mishear her?” Nope. He didn’t. Oh and the cherry on top is Reyna yelling at Yuta in Korean, “Ugh, you don’t even get me, uncle! What’s so hard to get about me not wanting to go to Tokyo with you this weekend?” “Oh, but going with your friends is okay?” “Yeah! Ugh, you’re so annoying, Yuta.” “Who the fuck is Yuta, young lady? And why do you think you can argue with me in Korean these days—“ “‘Cause I’ll always win.” “Nope, that’ll do it, you’re spending your weekend in your room,” Jae says from the couch. Reyna rolls her eyes, “I don’t have to listen to you. you’re not my dad.” AW HELLLL NAHHHHHH is2g Reyna regrets it the second she says it, even before all eight boys and her mom are sitting her in the living room for an intervention. Pre-teen bullshit is normal, but acting out like this and hurting her dads is a big no-no, so they’re putting a stop to it.

By the time she’s able to have a REAL committed relationship and not a silly school crush, Reyna’s content again, and proud of her family for what they are. She doesn’t call them by their names or say “uncle”— and she’s old enough to call them “oppa” in public, which sounds similar to “appa”, so when she sneaks in “appa” around other ppl, they all just think she mispronounced it because she’s multilingual. She feels sorry for the times where she mistreated them because she didn’t understand them, or because she was jealous. Now she knows she couldn’t be brave and cool like them, loving so many people at once… It’s just not for her. But she respects the hell out of them for it. And she’ll slap Jooha upside the back of the head whenever he gets to his pre-teen years and gives his dads a hard time too pfftttt. Full circle fr

it's 5 am so I might as well start huffing copium in public

what is going through my head is the difficulty of doing a reboot. for all that fma: brotherhood is praised, the first batch of episodes that tread pretty much identical water to the first anime are actually paced more poorly, comparatively. shou tucker and nina don't hit the same, striking pages from the manga that were recreated in anime form aren't recreated again. not to mention the first episode was anime original and made to foreshadow the different direction the plot is about to go. and i remember at the time being mildly bummed about it (however excited i was to get a manga accurate anime at all - of course i was one of the glasses pushing 'the manga was better' weebs who wanted to see the xingese characters and fort briggs).

but like, i get it. in the grand scheme of the anime, it's a drop in the bucket before episode 15 hits and you realize the plot is going somewhere very different.

when i think of the trigun anime, i have a lot of fond memories of it. it was one of my formative shows growing up, that we shared among our friends group on burned DVDs. but when i think about the story... i don't think about the first half of the series that much. the high stakes of legato and the gung ho guns are that much more striking in my memory compared to the tone-setting shenanigans of random bandits.

and you can't put that back in the bottle. i don't think modern anime can afford to spend 11 episodes without so much as a hint of the bigger bad that the whole series is about, in the same way that we don't have the patience to watch goku charge up for a whole episode. a reboot needs to get to the 'here is the thing that is going to make me different' right from the get go - and trigun stampede does that in the first first shot. it's not a twist, we know this is a sci-fi. they lean into it.

hell the entire art direction of stampede would not be able to hold up the facade of being purely a western until a mid-series pivot reveal of SPACE. even looking at the colour palette of dusty gunsmoke to no man's land, you can tell they're not going for the same thing. it is an investment in where the story is going to go, not a recreation of what exists.

and it's on that train of thought where i pin my hopes on meryl, and the changes that were made that make up the majority of the gripes with stampede. ('all 3d anime is ugly' holdouts have no rights here, they don't count.) meryl has always started in the story from a position of naiveté - but she's an earnest go getter who will throw herself into situations for the sake of her job (reducing damage to mitigate insurance payouts). what i find interesting about the change from her to a journalist, AND her as a junior instead of the senior in a dynamic, is that the room for upward growth has been opened up. having someone to tell her no, don't put yourself at risk, and then she chooses to do it anyway, is a different kind of agency. in a way it mirrors vash where the world tells him no, pacifism is stupid and unrealistic, but he lives by it anyway, to great cost. and there is going to be a breaking of meryl's naiveté, as there always is in this kind of story, but she's going to power on through.

i can only hope that her character trajectory involves derringers. is2g don't let me down, Orange

(all that and i'm still convinced milly will appear eventually as a supporting character. i mean if for no other reason than to give wolfwood a no homo love interest, right.)

I finally gave in and caught up with Dangerous Romance and I have some thoughts (with spoilers).

I really did enjoy episodes 2 and 3 a lot, they had some really great moments in them and were executed beautifully. Not gonna lie, I was pretty swayed into loving them as a ship (I feel like I can write a whole post about the steaks is2g).

Did I enjoy episode 1? YES, very much so as well!!! I did find some scenes very difficult to watch, but I was still pretty satisfied with it! Unlike what's done in a similar premise with nlmg (disclaimer, I hated that series) where Palm is mostly a doormat to Nueng's abuse and treatment, here I LOVED how Sailom kicked ass and stood his ground, not taking Kang's shit. It did make me hate Kang (and co) with passion, and love Sailom (and co) with passion as well, and I thought Kang would need some SERIOUS redemption for me to root for him.

Then in episode 2 and 3 he was suddenly so much milder? Where it was established he would stand his ground and be an asshole in episode 1, he suddenly acted flustered and caved in. Suddenly he showed compassion that simply does not align with the characteristics given to him in episode 1 through his actions there.

Before, he was straight-up cruel, the way he treated Auto, the way he wanted the poor to bow down to him, the way he tried to make Sailom lose his car job and scholarship!!! and did succeed in making him lose his tutoring job! The way he tried to force him to kiss his friend to HUMILIATE HIM. He doesn't give a shit it's someone's life and future and doesn't respect their humanity, he'll abuse his power and enjoy it. I was waiting to see the sob story of his family but then nope. He's just an asshole.

Then, in episode 2 and 3 suddenly it's just, not the case?

Suddenly he feels bad for Sailom? When Sailom tells him he'd tutor him he's "bickering" back, all flustered, even though he's much more likely to smack him to have his way like he'd do before?

I do have a slight hope the cruel bullying will be acknowledged because Sailom had flashbacks of Kang's awful behavior last episode. If I were Sailom, I could never forgive what Kang did to my friends just like that.

The thing is, I think that they could establish the "enemies to friends" feel, the "rich asshole" vibe, without going so far and it would work a lot better, no need to go to this extreme we're shown in episode 1. He could have been just an insecure asshole who thinks he's better than everyone- like they show him skipping in line, taking over cafeteria tables.. other jerk behaviors that are obviously bad, but can be played off as an entitled bratty rich kid who should become better, and not an actual evil cruel sadistic person.

I'm very curious to see where they'll go next with the series, it does have a lot of potential and great acting all around and the premise is more interesting than I thought it'd be. I would continue to enjoy it even if they gloss over this cruelty and I would give Kang the benefit of the "being a fictional character", but man I would LOVE it if they actually give us a proper redemption :')

Granted, there was a somewhat decent amount of action, but the first two laps were not fun to watch. So I’ll give it a tentative 6 front wings out of 10. Next race - Zandvoort!

Katsuyuki Motohiro (the director mentioned in that article) was an episode director in s1 and was part of the production staff until the pp movie - the same span of time that Urobuchi was involved. His involvement in the series also ended the same time Urobuchi's did... so I don't understand what of these claims of Urobuchi's vision btw - where did this come from? Is it from an interview? The current creative team - they're responsible for Providence too, you know that right? In what way does Shiotani (let's add Ubukata and Fukami - who except for Ubukata, has been involved from the beginning until now) and the creative + production team's decision deviated from this vision you so speak of? What exactly is this vision you're talking about?

You make it sound like Urobuchi built Psycho Pass - it wasn't even his idea. He was hired to create the original story - he was not a one-man show. Do you want to know who was part of the team that hired him?? Katsuyuki Motohiro. Don't get me wrong I'm not excusing what Motohiro said, in fact I hate him for it and so do the rest of the PP fandom which by the way, is not mostly women- especially in Japan- when that news came up. And since this interview resurfaced weeks ago the fandom defended the misinformation because he is NO longer connected to the show. I'm glad he's gone but literally what does that have ANYTHING to do with the current team? Fukami was his kouhai - Fukami was an episode script writer since s1. Again, he was NOT a one man show. This series didn't get off the ground off his work alone! "Do they think women cannot enjoy a well-written for other reasons besides romance?" girl THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO ROMANCE IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY (it's funny is2g lol). WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? Just because you didn't like S3? Did you know that Sinners was also done by these guys? Do you hate those too do you hate that we had Frede and Tenzing? Or do you just hate that the story did not pan out the way you wanted? What are you still doing here if you hate psycho pass so much if you're so turned off?

Here’s the thing I don’t think Akane got replaced as the good boss Kougami could work for.The timing was right when Kougami got scouted by Frederica(which I don’t think Frederica did alone because she’s also a special investigator.Same rank as Kougami..She probably was interested since Saiga’s lessons sure but she needed approval from way higher ups in foreign ministry).Nobody in MWPSB had the power to bring back someone in sibyl’s kill list.Moreover they only need obedient enforcers.Not someone like Kougami.MoFA needed his unique skill set and gave him a good deal(I suspect he wanted to come back too).He took it.That’s pretty much all there is to it.Also Frederica is very loyal to Shogo Yabuki(I assume she got promoted to occupy this post after ppp?)MoFA means a lot to her(like unit 1 of MWPSB does to Akane).She is also very competent.Kougami,Gino and Sugo seem to have good workplace dynamic with her.(also I can tell they like her as both a boss and a person from their interactions in the pp3)Here’s the thing I think Gino saying “Our chief is so cool.Just like a female kougami”is more like Gino fanboying over her because he thinks she’s very cool?That doesn’t mean their romantic compatibility.More like they are both cool people(they are obviously) and have similar interests..They also have mutual respect going by ppp and pp3.(I do think Frederica understands Kougami’s predicament at least to a degree).Now I am not saying they can’t be a good ship,they definitely can but so far there’s nothing to suggest it’s romantic?As far as canon goes she’s competent(like Akane and Mika),loyal to MoFA and a good boss.And we should leave it at that.(Personal opinion she’s just so beautiful she doesn’t even look human😛It’s so hard to get past her beauty because why does she have to be so pretty for? She’s already competent🥲)

Yeah, I hope you didn't think I was bashing on Frederica. I'm just not that curious about her. She's good at her job and she's not a jerk. She's competent and beautiful, but that doesn't pull me emotionally to her or makes her as good a character as the holy trio.

Kogami is cool and hot and handsome, but he has an irreparable flaw that he sees and is unable to fix himself. Ginoza has remorse, regret, nostalgia for his father and he's lonely. Akane fights with the system and has paid with blood for opposing it when she could just sell out. All these people have things moving them from inside in all directions. There's doubt, introspection, internal struggle, bad decisions, trust put in the wrong people, pain. They tried their best with what they had and they fail. Kogami failed to feel like he avenged Sasayama and is hounded by the ghost of the man he killed. Akane failed to protect Kogami. Gino failed to tell those he cares about that he loves them until is too late.

Heck, even Mika is more interesting to me. Imagine knowing your friends got killed by a psycho and the killer got away. You'd be pissed at hell too at the incompetence of the police and you'd think you will change things from inside only to end up messing up and causing a terrible tragedy. You become the thing you hate. It's beautiful.

As for the Hanagami ship...(yeah, I just named it like that lol)... I don't know. I don't really see it. Maybe a fic would get me into it? I don't know.
