ive seen you say terusai is implied a lot but i dont remember ever seeing you explain why you think that

yeah now that you say it, i dont think ive ever gone into depth about it 😭 its really hard to put my thoughts into words because its sooo much, i started writing a long analysis recently on their relationship, why i believe they have feelings for each other, and why they would work but itll probably sit unfinished in my drafts for a while

for now, i'll give you a few of my most noteworthy thoughts...

the mixer scene has teruhashi unknowingly proving to saiki that her feelings are true, and he accepts that and stops trying to get her to stop pursuing him. i dont believe he ever actually makes any REAL effort to try to stop her from liking him ever again after this. he genuinely hadnt acknowledged her feelings as true or at least not as deep yet, which is why he thinks hes succeeding at getting her to move on until she proves that not only is she still thinking of him, but shes NOT thinking of a fake version of him... shes thinking of HIM... she genuinely enjoys his company even when hes doing nothing but sitting there (which is factually and obviously what he wouldve been doing in this situation, people deny that for some odd reason but like. thats what he does. with ANYONE. even his own family and everyone else who knows of his powers.) and wants him around... i think some part of him stopped because he felt guilty for not believing her feelings were true and trying to control her heart despite her genuine intentions, and another part of him was realizing that he doesnt WANT her to stop having feelings for him... otherwise, why would he drag the other guys away WHILE acknowledging that she wouldnt have gone with them anyway??? after inserting himself into a rock paper scissors game for who gets to be the one to be with her???? HELLO?

and the offu, although i dont believe it was a direct declaration of him being in love with her or whatever, has obvious canon romantic connotations... teruhashis determination is something saiki has admired about her since the very beginning, but it isnt until THIS moment that he thinks in depth about what that entails... she makes him realize all at once that she truly IS the type of person he admires most... and his "offu" is exactly what teruhashi needs, she would have a straight up epiphany if she knew about it, because he DIDNT gasp at how beautiful she is, or anything she forced herself to do, or when she forced herself to CHANGE, he ONLY gasped when she let herself embrace a part of herself that was REAL and TRUE, her unwavering dedication and pride.

THIS chapter is where they both have huge realizations about themselves and each other, and they both prove that theyre more than willing to meet in the middle for the other...

saiki lives his life forcing himself to blend into the background, not because he genuinely wants to but because hes afraid to be SEEN.

teruhashi lives her life forcing herself to be perfect and the center of attention, not because she genuinely enjoys it but because she believes she wont get the validation she feels she needs if she doesnt give everyone exactly what they want from her.

and yet, here saiki is, allowing himself to jump into the spotlight and be seen catching teruhashi out of nowhere and carrying her to the nurse. and here teruhashi is, allowing herself to be seen being imperfect, forgetting something, and not caring about her conversation with these men. FOR EACH OTHER. they both let themselves break down a wall because they care more about the other than about the fake selves they dedicate their entire lives to, THEIR GENUINE CARE FOR EACH OTHER GIVES THEM THE COURAGE TO DO THAT.

and this is probably the number one reason why i think their feelings for each other are implied... this alternate timeline is quite clearly one where saiki is more open with his friends, and he and teruhashi ARE DATING in this universe. theres absolutely no other explanation for the author writing that. he spelled out "IF SAIKI WERE MORE OPEN WITH HIS FRIENDS, HE WOULD BE DATING TERUHASHI"

the saiki of that timeline isnt exactly the same as the saiki we know of course, and their relationship will not develop in the same way, but theres clearly intention behind this and it wouldnt be written and called attention to if there was no significance, youd have to jump through hoops to deny that 😭

overall, i think they both have a lot of work to do on themselves before they can be in a relationship, but not only do i believe they WILL eventually get there but also that they both need each other on their personal journey to get to that point, or at least that they are and will continue to be important in the others journey there, and their romantic feelings for each other are so clear... these two are so important to one another...

What are your opinions on selfcest?

(I need to answer so many asks in my inbox... I'm sorry this is late! I will be late again/some more!!)

But I really wanted to finally get around to this one because I actually have some very specific thoughts on selfcest, which is that I feel like it would be... not necessarily "more liked," because people like what they like and are into what they're into, people are squicked by what they're squicked by, etc... but seen as less scandalous if it didn't have "-cest" as part of the name.

To elaborate, I don't think it has any similarities to incest unless the specific individual characters in question outright do think of their "other selves" in a familial way. In many cases this just isn't the case, however -- the relationship doesn't map that way in canon itself, or the other selves are totally noncanonical in the first place. I can think of some exceptions (Galerians, where almost all the clones of one particular person think of one another as siblings, including the one who was raised separately and didn't know about any of that so doesn't feel a sibling bond with them but they still seem to consider him one) but in many cases, that's just not what's going on. It's clones, or a changeling, or a time loop, or a multiverse, or something else where the canon doesn't portray them as feeling any sort of familial bond -- and where sometimes the canon actually outright makes a point to show or talk about how different they are.

And to explain even further... I think my view on selfcest is influenced by the fact that for a couple of decades now, my views on selfhood have been such that... I don't think "self"cest inherently feels self enough to feel offputting to me, either. Yes, you can have situations where someone looks at a clone or alternate universe version of themself and goes "that's 100% me" in a way that never really treats the other like their own person, and in that case it wouldn't appeal to me... But even since I was a teenager, I've always considered that if one person was suddenly two people, the second person unavoidably becomes their own person from the moment of separation, the moment either of them says or does anything that starts to develop them in a different direction from the other. And a lot of the time "selfs" in selfcest are even more different than that: Think of the Spider-Verse movies, for instance, or the possible interactions between a Transformer and their alternate universe selves if you crossed some of the cartoons and comics together. Pavitr Prabhakar and Peter B. Parker just do not feel like the same person; neither do EarthSpark Arcee and Transformers Animated Arcee and IDW comics Arcee.

TL;DR though, uh, I have to assume you're asking me because of Slay the Princess. 😅 In which case that was a really long and roundabout way of saying... Honestly, I don't even think "selfcest" applies in STP. (Mostly, at least.) While the voices are all parts of the Long Quiet (and the vessels are all parts of the Shifting Mound), they are different enough people that they necessitate their own names, they have different relationships with one another, they disagree with one another to the point of dislike at times, their actions if they could act on their own would be VERY different, and especially once they have their own bodies I just don't register them as the same person anymore. And I truly think the game backs me up on this, because... the Shifting Mound and the Long Quiet also used to be the same being originally. Go back far enough and arguably any ship that isn't the Narrator/one of the other characters is selfcest! But it so doesn't feel that way to me, not even to the extent that most people mean it.

I have the occasional selfcest ship, but long story short, voices shipping and vessel shipping doesn't actually feel like selfcest to me at all* if that makes sense.

I hate takes that are like Sam isn’t an empathetic person and that’s what makes him interesting but they’re so popular in the fandom for some reason and I don’t know why. I just saw one that was like Dean is an empathetic person who forces himself to be pragmatic to deal with situations while Sam is a pragmatic person who forces himself to be empathetic for situations he’d otherwise easily move on because they have different trauma responses. I genuinely don’t know why these takes are so popular when I can’t think of a single moment that supports this for Sam. I do think that he does put on a bit of an act when talking with witnesses but I see it more as being professional and following protocol rather than faking empathy. And whether or not these are actually Sam and deans true selves/feelings I’ve personally always believed that what defines us is not our feelings but how we choose to act. Ugh these takes are so annoying because both Dean and Sam have ultimately acted pragmatically but I hate how the fandom always ascribes some external other reason for when dean acts in a negative way while for Sam it’s a always seen as a reflection of who he is deep down.

some of them might have a slight awareness that dean's tendency to fly off the handle on witnesses or victims because of whatever issues in his personal life he's poorly working through in that episode doesn't align with the gentle empath forced to be pragmatic because of his mean job (which he totally doesn't need to avoid flying off the handle even more) they've all made up in their heads so they try to convince themselves and others that this behavior is better than sam... not doing that? because sam is... faking it? idk I'm not really following the logic either!

reminds me of how they treat anger when it comes to the two of them too, with dean's always being the result of unresolved trauma (and sorry to say that even if that were the case it can't justify all of his actions when he is angry!) while sam's is (bobby singer voice) one of his character defects

I also dont think that pentious could be same level harmful like vox, vaggie, valentino etc. Yes hes still obsessed so i imagine him wanting to hold hands, watching alastor sleeping, stalking him a little bit but not doing much besides that, making him take care of the eggbois, playing fighting, maybe creating deer related inventions to try impress alastor 🤔

Yeah, that's sorta my same thought process. Obviously everyone is pretty much OOC in this AU, but I do genuinely try to make it sorta "in character" for them. Like what if these character's with their canon selves WERE put into this situation and how would their obsessions vary?

And Pentious, out of everyone, was like the one character I really couldn't think bad things for. He's just such a wet cat of this series. People call Lucifer pathetic? Did you not SEE Sir Pentious at all? When someone had asked what he'd do, I remember being a bit lost and just saying he offers a bunch of harmless gifts to Alastor that Alastor declines or destroys in his face. And I think at the time I mentioned him being a bit stalkerish, but I might be remembering wrong. But yeah, Pentious' worst crime being a harmless stalker compared to everyone else just feels like it makes sense for him.

And I definitely remember talking about how having some light-hearted stuff in the midst of the dark stuff would probably be good for the AU! I think it was about there being a good end in the AU where the curse is lifted, but it's more or less what you said. The dark stuff can get pretty boring/mind-numbing after a while if there's nothing to like, break the monotony so to speak. It's kinda why, while the AU definitely has some very dark content with it, I have always thought about it a bit more like a dark comedy. Not always obviously, but the whole idea of Vaggie making traps, Charlie's delusions about Alastor and Vaggie's relationship, Lucifer just under the impression they have an "enemies to lovers" thing going on, and even Rosie's and Alastor's occasional lunches together were always meant as sort of dark-comedy parts of the AU. Nothing serious. Heck, both Sir Pentious and Niffty are actually just silly jokes all in all. They're both the most harmless of the crew. This might seem strange with Niffty, but I never really imagined her succeeding in her advances. And like I said, Pentious is just a puppy pretty much. I never imagined (in part because I was never able to) think of anything dark for his character to do. And with you're own thoughts about it, I think it cements the idea for me that Pentious doesn't really have anything dark going on (again, aside from stalking but he also just watches others sleep in the main series, soooo....).

Pentious also works as an occasional "sidekick" so to speak seems kinda fun. It'd be similar to that sort of relationship you see in kid shows where Character A is clearly in love with Character B, and Character B ignores it or brushes it off but will use that crush to their own benefit. Sheldon and Jenny's relationship from My Life as a Teenage Robot would probably be a fairly good sum up to Alastor's and Pentious' relationship? Pentious is way too obsessed from stalking to creepy shrines and poor attempts at flirting, but the guy doesn't really harm Alastor nor wants to harm him in any way. And to be honest? I feel like Alastor would, on some occasions, maybe throw a bone. If only because it wouldn't make Pentious start pushing any harder. Plus, Pentious being more "normal" in the love department compared to everyone else is a bit of a nice contrast to the monstrous actions of everyone else. I never thought about how his obsession would actually be (again, aside from gift-giving and being a doormat to others pretty much), but I do like the idea he would just be in a nice relationship with nothing really terrible happening.

and the vial thing, yeah.. i always keep this line of mye in mind about the vials not having certain meanings besides the red and yellow/orange ones (wrath/agressivity and euphoria respectively) and that it is more up to the community to think about them more to detail. i did believe in this more confidently when in the prism collection itself the green sticker of ink wasn't representing any gross situation (which are the meanings many people think of first when talking about green) while blue and pink respected more this attachment to the most common meanings, green seemed to symbolize the nature of craftsmanship and that's neat!! though, i didn't think of this collection when analyzing the blue vial left in uvs— AND IDK WHY BECAUSE IT MAKES TOTAL SENSE

Thinking about that ask I got about "dark and edgy" versus "light-hearted" Tron movies.

And the more I think about it, the more I realize that part of the reason I like the original movie so much is that it's got SO much silliness, and yet also has extremely dark themes.

Not all of the dark themes are front-and-center in the story. Some of them only stand out after you've thought about it a while. But others are VERY clearly there. There's violence and gladiator battles-to-the-death. There's dictatorship and enslavement. Good guys are forced to murder senselessly for the bad guys' amusement. Friends are imprisoned together for ages talking about their hopes for when they get out and then one of them is killed just after they escape. There are villains grappling with how they've gone too far and are afraid to go farther but can't turn back now.

And yet there's also utterly absurd silliness! There's the way Crom blusters through his introduction as a compound interest program who's not made to fight in video games. There's a Bit that flies around going Yes and No and sassing Flynn as he does maybe the third-worst possible job of trying to drive a Recognizer. There's how Flynn acts before the whole adventure starts-- he is just an absolute clown and practically every single scene with him feels like a comedy.

The original TRON movie went SIGNIFICANTLY past the threshold of "this movie has so much silliness in it that it qualifies as a Silly Movie, regardless of what other deeply sad and serious stuff also happens in there."

That threshold isn't even "more than half." It's a small amount, proportionally. But silly is a powerful ingredient. It doesn't take very much to make the whole thing Distinctly Silly-Flavored.

But... that's a very fiction-centric trope.

If real life were held to this standard, real life would be far past that threshold. There is outright horror in this world. Lots and lots and lots of it. But mixed inextricably in with the horror and tragedy is more than enough silliness to make this, by fiction standards, a thoroughly silly world.

But we, as real people who are affected by the horror and tragedy as well as the silliness --- we don't judge the world by fiction standards.

And I think I'm realizing that I don't really judge fiction by those standards either.

You don't have to. I think some of the greatest writers don't. I think some of the greatest fiction of history isn't present-day-Hollywood easy to categorize as Deep Dark Edgy or Angsty Drama or Silly Light or Filthy Smutty or any box like that. I think the best of it has a big helping of each.

I wrote a fic about some of the "lightest" canon themes in that movie, like how Flynn keeps ending up in bizarrely homoerotic situations with Tron and Ram where he has absolutely no idea what's happening, and then suddenly at the end he kisses Tron's girlfriend for no clear reason, and then she kisses Tron and no one seems to care. My fic is Flynn's POV through all that nonsense and it's a serious story, about the painful emotional distance of socially navigating a world where people don't give the same signals you do, while you deeply care about respecting their boundaries even though you'll never understand them, and finally finding common ground because they, too, have known the feeling of facing someone you care about and not being able to articulate what you want.

I wrote a smut fic where that goofy compound interest program Crom loses his virginity to Ram and it turns out he has six tentacles that he uses for extra counting hands so he can go up to hexadecimal. And it's a sad angsty fic with, like, theology and philosophy and moral dilemmas about loyalty.

I wrote a fic about losing your purpose and questioning what you even are and splitting into multiple selves and being separated from someone you need to reach by a communication gap you'll never bridge, and being torn between loyalty to someone from a world you'll never understand and loyalty to someone who's basically you. And it's from the viewpoint of the fucking BIT.

There is no dark and light. There's fucking rainbows of color, everywhere.

And not many movies these days show it.

(Note: some of this is canon, some is headcanon extrapolated from canon, and some is just straight headcanon)

True to her promise, BRS continues to bear Mato’s pain and fight for her sake in the Hollow World, though their situation isn’t as dire as it once was. In her adolescence, Mato’s continued repression and ignorance of her pain and grief meant that it was all pushed onto BRS to bear, causing her to become progressively more powerful and ruthless, indiscriminately slaughtering other selves, freeing them and their human counterparts from the pain they bore… and the memories of said pain. This all reached a head when Mato, determined to save Yomi from her own pain, fused with BRS in the Hollow World to stop her from killing Dead Master… but she was too late. Seeing Dead Master as Yomi, impaled on BRS’s blade, Mato couldn’t take that pain, and the trauma it caused pushed BRS over the edge, driving her insane and transforming her into something overpowered and nigh-invincible. At Mato’s declaration that she wanted to feel pain, she promised she’d show her just that, beating her counterpart to a pulp until Mato, realizing that she really couldn’t make it through life without hurting anyone herself, finally fought back, snapping BRS out of her frenzy. With Mato’s friends’ other selves having been revived, restoring their memories, the two part ways, with BRS telling Mato that she fights for her because she loves her.

Now, in adulthood, Mato does her best not to run from her pain, to let herself feel it and deal with it. This doesn’t leave BRS out of a job, however, and she dutifully fights for Mato’s sake as she always has, in the endless battlefield of the Hollow World. But it’s safe to say that both of them are at least a bit healthier due to Mato’s efforts.

Mato herself is now a professional basketball player, turning what was once her hobby into a career. She still remains close with her friends, and is dating Yomi, though her travels for games mean she’s not always able to spend as much time with everyone as she’d like.

Though the majority of BRS’s interactions with her fellow other selves involve violence, there isn’t necessarily any hatred in their battles. They’re generally able to have civil conversations whenever they’re not trying to rip each other’s heads off. They’re friends. Probably.

BRS sees glimpses of Mato’s life in her dreams, just as Mato sees BRS in hers. A literal world apart, they don’t see much of each other otherwise, but that doesn’t mean either of their love for their counterpart has waned.

Hogwarts Legacy x Animagi Forms

Ok so we preface this with some basic stuff about animagi. Animagi couldn't pick what animal they transformed into but it was always an animal that suited them best. For the sake of this I am also making the distinction that I picked the Animagus form based on their family history and more inherent characteristics, while when I make my thread on Patrouses that will be more about their inner selves, spirits or souls. That one will include a lot more symbolism. Also from research it seemed like known animagi were mostly animals that were common so that will also be taken into consideration. Also I will include whether I think they are registered or not for funsies.

Sebastian Sallow

For Sebastian I think a dog would fit him well. I don't know what breed I would put him as. When I was a kid I had a book on dog breeds and I knew so many of them but not anymore unfortunately. Definitely a really protective and loyal breed I feel like that's just an inherent quality that he has and has not been afraid to display. When not fighting for a cure I feel like he would be very playful and cuddly. I think Sebastian would not register at all because he doesn't trust the Ministry that well.

Anne Sallow

A counterpart to Sebastian being a dog, I think Anne would be more of a cat person. I think she would be a cat that's the same color as her hair color and maybe a medium short hair cat so one of the fluffier ones. That's because I think when Anne's not sick she does have the grace of a cat and also some sense of mischeviousness. As someone who lived with cats for quite a bit now I think she would fit. She would want to register but Sebastian would convince her otherwise.

Natsai Onai

Going to knock this out for completeness sake, Natsai is obviously a Gazelle it's literally canon. I also think it's fitting for her because of her sense of danger and good intuition. I think she's already registered or at least it would make sense to I'm not sure.

Ominis Gaunt

Reiterating here again although this is a pretty common headcanon that I am picking this based on family history as well as like more inherent traits. Ominis would be a white snake because of his family history and being a literal descendant of Slytherin. Snakes also have poor eyesight allegedly. I think he would hate his form and refuse to talk to anyone after he first transforms but he would learn to at least make peace with it. If I ever wrote something relating to this I would put them in a situation where his form is really useful or have MC give him reasons to love it. Lost of angst but also wholesomeness potential (PLEASE WRITE THIS GUYS ID LOVE TO READ IT) I think he wouldn't register because he has no intention to be in his form often also don't want the negative connotations that come with it.

Poppy Sweeting

So I was a bit lost for Poppy for a bit then I saw other people saying she would be a bee when I was doing my research. Bees symbolize love, service, gathering and community. I know I wanted a community based animal for Poppy. Also bug animagus forms are more common in the lore than I thought. Bees are also very important to the environment and an important part in the process so I think it fits her well. They are also hard working insects and also sorta cute. I think if she worked for the Ministry as a Magizoologist she would register, if not then she probably wouldn't care as much.

I left this for last because obviously the MCs animagus form is whatever you want it to be as the player/author/artist. For me who uses the most canon form of MC as a reference my pick for her would be a raven since she is kind of an omen of death. Some cultures associate ravens with loss which we experience a lot of on the story. They can also symbolize transition stages. Also a small hidden meaning with this as someone who adores Ominis' character. His name is likely from Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven so it's also a subtle nod to that. But your animagus could be anything you want it to be and I love seeing people make fanarts of theirs or explain why they picked it.

Creation's Lore / backstory ~!! (Copy pasted from discord messages so please excuse the cadence + formatting)(+ lack of proofreading)(+ my tentative grasp on Ink lore)

It's tragic on multiple axis actually.... I ended up decided that the entire MV he originates from is actually now Gone. For good. At first it was just Abandoned by its creator but then later was Discontinued, meaning the whole thing actually got erased from existence. He is one of if not the only survivor of this MV...

Now. Creation is a Fresh!Ink variant. But a little to the left in some ways. Rather than just being a Fresh possessing an Ink he's more of a uhh fusion between the 2 of them? You could say. He kind of fully joined with Ink, resulting in a being that was simultaneously both of them together but also it's own unique independent entity. Which is Creation.

The Fresh & Ink he's made from actually had a Thing™️ going on. No labels for what it was, they were just both highly important to the other. They would say that they were together but in what way was a mystery to everyone (including them). 

They initially bonded over the fact both of them were aware of Creators and also kind of very scared of them? Of doing the wrong thing and getting cast aside / replaced / abandoned.... Lots of uh existential crises between the 2 of them. Who they felt only the other would understand in a way? Why they would do what they did, the reasons behind their actions and thought processes? Even if they reacted differently to the pressures.

Now. The catalyst behind Creation coming into existence was actually the MV getting abandoned. Without Creator/s there to help? Ink. Well. He dies; worse than dies really.... Adhering to canon, the source of Ink's vials are the Creators. If they don't provide then Ink goes uhhh catatonic? I think it is? Fully just, not there. Body shut down but not dead, unable to move or to feel or anything.... just stuck living but not really alive...

So with the MV abandoned? Well. There was no longer any source of paint for Ink. He knew it when it happened, since he stopped hearing the Creator/s talk to him. He hoped it was just temporary but even still began to ration out his vials. Trying to make sure he's last as long as possible.... It could only get him so far, of course. 

At some point, when Ink was essentially No More, Fresh snapped and made a choice. They had talked about it before, when things were just starting to get bad. Since Ink's body in that state just becomes a puppet for whoever wants to use him? Ink would rather Fresh had him than anyone else. He would rather it not have to happen at all, still clinging to some hope that this wouldn't be forever, but if it had to? It should be Fresh.

And so it was Fresh. He decided that nothing was going to change, that things were just going to get worse and worse and worse, so he might as well. Ink was the most important figure in his life and he didn't want to be separated from him. He was even thinking about fleeing to another MV, since that is an ability Fresh has. So why not take his Ink with him?

However in his uhhh highly emotional state? Something that he still was only so used to dealing with? Maybe his sentiments went a little to far... Resulting in them more... fusing together rather than just becoming his next vessel. While still kind of figuring out the whole Joint Thing™️ Creation did end up fleeing to another MV. Not all that long after the entire place ceased to be! making Creation the only confirmed survivor who was having a heck of a time dealing with how new Situation™️. 

He wandered around between MVs for a while, meeting new people (mainly interested in versions of his selves) and just seeing what it was like out there. He eventually settled not just into himself but into a new MV, where he lives to this day. He still has contact with some of the Freshes & Inks he met in past using the Doodlesphere Mirror (from Ink's canon) to chat! 

Bonus: Oh and this Fresh in particular always had some connection to divinity & creation as well. Always feeling drawn to it. Which definitely, not that he'd admit it, played a part in him 'befriending' Ink. Kind of wanting to uhhhhh study him? See what it was all about? Being as close as possible to a representation of the things he as 'supposed' to be / have?? Like he, a habit Creation keeps, always referred to his hosts as his vessels! Well. Creation can't change vessels seeing as he is fused together now but his memories of Fresh's previous ones are referred to as vessels alongside his current body.

Oh my friend, you know I aim to please!! Darlin' has very nearly reached the apex of their arc, so it's time!! I like to keep y'all on your toes, keep you guessing, but they were always going to say it back. It was just a matter of when they felt safe. And in that exam room, with Sam begging them to let him kill Quinn for them- that's safety for them.

I do love to torture characters. I firmly believe that the best way to boil a character down to their base is to torture them. It's my favorite form of not character development, per say. More like character reveal. This is them (all of them, all of the characters) at their most animal, their most core, their most base selves. Maybe not their best selves (Sweetheart and David, I'm looking at you), but themselves. That's what I'm interested in as a writer.

Thank you buddy! Part of that boiling down process has been these characters showing their worst parts. David gets paranoid and controlling. Darlin' isolates and bends to manipulation. Sweetheart pushes people away and tries to do everything on their own. It's ugly. It's very messy and it's situations like these that destroy relationships, both romantic and otherwise. It would be very easy for things to fall apart. That's what I love about this set of characters in particular. They tend to fall together when things go wrong instead of falling apart.

Bro SWEETHEART is making SO MANY bad decisions right now. Chief among them is not having space to hear Milo's emotions and fears. That is something that he really needs to feel safe. Just having his emotions validated does so much for him. It was something that he didn't get a lot of as a kid, and when he is withheld that as an adult, it makes relationships feel insecure and unstable. He's a sensitive guy when you get down to it, and when that sensitivity is disregarded, it puts him in a bad spot. Sweetheart, quite the opposite, feels safest when they have distance between themself and their emotions. It's a... less than ideal pairing. But they have made it work and they will continue to make it work.

But yeah that was a crazy thing for Milo to say. He'll apologize for that before we're done here.

Gabriel Shaw was a CRY BABY!!! That man was so in tune with his own emotions, there as no WORLD in which he didn't cry all the time. David used to keep track of it. Sometimes it was multiple times a day.

Honestly I combined three chapters in this one which cut us down to three more chapters to go. I might do an epilogue... just to tie up some loose ends. Idk man I shouldn't have put a number there because it keeps changing lol. I guess we'll find out together!!

Test Tube, you initially felt reluctant to connect to the others (mostly Fan, I presume) because you thought there was no genuine interest besides the fact that your previous selves all used to be a friend group, Fan and Lightbulb having shown to be clearly interested in reviving that dynamic of the Former Lights. However, there have been multiple instances of you quite obviously getting along with them, (even Fan!) despite the fact you're reluctant to admit it. So I assign you the songgg:

Carve a Name! Mother Mother is always a classic,,

This song is about rediscovering passion with someone who it had been previously lost. The singer even seems reluctant to admit it, using somewhat graphic imagery in the lyrics to make the situation sound more distasteful than it actually is. Despite this, they can't help but admit that, yes, that connection and closeness has, in fact, been revived, claiming "It feels the same as good old yesterday."

Fan, you want to relive the glory of the old Fan. You wanted to have the same friendships as him, the same experiences as him, hell, you even want a phone! Some may even say you know exactly what you want and what you wanna be...

THAT'S RIGHT! I assign to you Oh No! by MARINA!!

While this song is about the fear of failure and not being able to achieve your goals, for you, I'd say it focuses a bit more on a desperate, neverending battle of trying to reach that goal; that goal being your desire to be like the original Fan. You know how his story went and you want to have what he had, focusing on achieving that rather than being more willing to let there be a change, "TV taught me how to feel; Now real life has no appeal". Ironically enough, that sort of connects you to the original Fan even more, as he disliked change as well. Woah 🤯🤯

Lightbulb, I was definitely a bit conflicted while choosing yours but I finally came to choose a fitting song. Like Fan, you want to be like your old self. You try to fill the void that your existence has left you with. And because of that, I assign you:

This song is about being unsatisfied with your current situation and wanting to regain a feeling of happiness. For you, that means trying to be like the original Lightbulb by making the same friends and trying to behave similarly to her. And to add, there were implications that the old Lightbulb struggled with depression and/or a low self-esteem, but hid it extremely well behind her goofy character. You don't seem to hide behind the mask of a fake smile, but we can only assume you want to regain that bright aspect of the old Lightbulb, even if it was fake at times. As the song says, "you don't know what you want; But you know that you had it once; And you know that you want it back."

Paintbrush, you were surprisingly the trickiest! Reason being I don't quite know what your arc focuses on. Test Tube has no interest in reviving the old Lights dynamic, whereas Fan and Lightbulb do, for example, but I don't know about you. Not until I picked for specifics, that is. From your reference sheet that said "knows something?" iirc, to that (non canon? I don't remember,,) short comic of you tearing up over Fan and Lightbulb’s reenactment of that one moment in Mazed and Confused, to watching Lightbulb glitch out and die right before your very eyes all hint towards a fact that you carry a certain burden that the others don't. And because of that, I assign youuuu:

I don't know if most of you know this or not but I've been a marichat stan for 5+ years (around as long as I've been miraculous ladybug and Chat noir obsessed) so since I did a Ladynoir head canon post I want to do one for marichat. Because this was what kept me up at night at 12 years old reading fanfiction omg so much fanfiction (and writing some too but we don't talk about that).

I think just like Ladynoir I prefer an older more mature head canon with them.

They don't meet on purpose. Like they hardly ever meet on purpose especially as adults. Maybe they had a few of those nights on the balcony when they were 14-15 or one too many missions where they teamed up but as adults it's hardly ever on purpose.

That doesn't mean they aren't friends or that they don't meet. Every once in a while Marinette would be chased by a akuma and chat will save her. Within those dragged out a couple of minutes where he gets her somewhere save they chat, they insult each other, exchange funny stories, make jokes. And after the akuma he checks on her where he left her, hardly ever expecting her to be there but always finding her.

They have the kind of friendship which is just EASY. It's fun, there's no expectations, they never have to wonder whether they need to call the other or if it's weird the other hasn't reached out. It's mostly coincidence (that at times doesn't seem like it)

They don't talk about their feelings, they talk shit about people that piss them off, situations that make them wanna commit crimes, jokes around. Chat knows Marinette has more to her life than she tells him but it's okay because so does he.

They can tell each other things they don't think they can ever say out loud, not because they're their "true selves" but because who's going to hear the hopes and dreams that might never be accomplished? A boy who she doesn't even know the name of? A girl who'll probably never know who he is?

They don't imagine their life with each other in it, it's the kind of friendship you have with an exchange student in your school, a person just visiting town, they talk about their future but never imagine each other in it, because that'll break down the comfort they feel knowing that they have no major significant with another. (At least that's what they tell themselves)

It's always "I'll tell my friends I used to know the famous fashion designer before she was famous"

"I'll tell my kids I used to be friends with the great Chat noir"

And that's okay, it's what gives them the freedom to say whatever they think, say out loud the things they would never have anyways because that's the core of their friendship. It's not the kind where you plan hangouts, where you know each other's favorite colours, where you fear that saying something will affect your next conversation. Not one where you even know the others birthday, one where to get each other serious or any gifts at all

Sure Marinette gives him a sweater for winter patrol once only for him to find out that the back has a paragraph not so different to the "no protection, no lube..." comment when ladybug starts laughing uncontrollably.

They both have an addiction to murder podcasts. They plan the most precise murders in the middle of the night and switch to talking shit about murderers because they got caught.

They don't see each other as a life long friend but definitely one they don't plan to forget. They don't spend many nights together but the ones spend are all they will remember.

Their meeting aren't always the most convenient but they are also never boring. They don't have a normal friendship but that's also what's so special about their friendship. They might not know everything about one another or even close but they will be each other's murder alibi and that's what matters.

Was musing on the "Aware of Abuse" AU for the Sad Rich Kids Trio and ho it influences their behavior, or how their perspective has shifted, from least to most detailed:

Adrien: He is not overtly super different, in canon he was already expressing frustration with his father and ducking out from under his control to do what he wanted.

The main shift is rooted in his perspective. Namely that if his father does love him (Doubt) then his love is so toxic Adrien wants no part of it. He deems any concession Gabriel makes suspicious at best and deems any lingering affection on his own part as a childish thing he needs to outgrow.

Beyond that he's simply more blunt, he doesn't make excuses for his father and is a bit more aware of how the other kids parenting sucks. This ironically may actually make it harder for he & Marinette as she'd struggle to see what was wrong early on and presume him kind of a brat or rude for disrespecting his father so much.

Kagami: As one might expect given how heavily controlling and authoritive Tomoe is, Kagami has very little wiggle room to openly defy her or act differently without risking being trapped or extremely harsh punishment,

As a result the shift is more in subtle things and how she communicates and views the relationship. Namely, she does not love her mother and only pays lip service to respecting anything other than her material skills as a combatant. She also feels that given what her mother does to her is largely indistinguishable from hatred (The physical nature of sparring sessions & training are deeply unpleasant) that Tomoe's feelings don't matter.

Thus she's more overt around others in her disregard for her mother and already prone to trying to sneak off or undercut her. She has burner phones and secret social media accounts for example. In this regard she likely does not become Riposte.

Instead her emotions would be mostly fear of her mothers reaction & anger at the situation and what this costs her in general. Thus she likely turns into something intent on seeking her mother out and attacking her, or otherwise trying to force her mother into her shoes. I had a name for this I think, Aku-Gami? Anyway its basically a signal flare to Adrien & Chloe of "One of us! One of us! One of us!"

Chloe: Like with Adrien her shift would be fairly recent. Mostly in response to the clusterfuck handling of Adrien after Emilie's disappearance & her parents being their worst selves about it. She was on her last thread from keeping Adrien's head above water then being booted and so she explodes at her mother over the phone & rejects her father out of anything but necessity. After which she doubles down because she can't un-dig this hole but she can sure as fuck make it big enough to engulf them all.

Put simply, Chloe's ingrained "Fight" mentality has now been turned on her parents in full. She'd still struggle to articulate most of the things they did wrong, or why they were wrong. But she is angry, rebellious and good at lashing out so she does that and only concedes when she has no other choice or legitimately terrified.

Despite this her changes are less overt, her fight mentality is a survival mechanism like Adrien's people pleasing so she can't just turn it off. She's still been actively taught a lot of terrible things like its moral to cheat to win, & un-learning that is hard, especially if doing so makes you feel weak. & She's been mimicking Audrey since forever, that doesn't just go away over night.

At the same time though she has more freedom than the others & any overt issues she can identify she can try to address for good & ill. Her dad thinks she shouldn't hang around with people "beneath her station" Well screw that she's throwing a party in the ballroom for the class/school before the new school year starts & Adrien can come too.

This likely means she doesn't rip up Rose's letter cos that was like, peak Audrey. She might be tempted to do the social media thing with Kim cos that is something someone might do, but she'd also be more able to apologize for it. She may indeed still lock Juleka in the bathroom, unless they are like, actively friendly at this point.

A lot depends on how well her shifts in behavior are taken by the class as she's not gonna suddenly be super self aware or easy to get along with in many regards. Though given S1 still had Kim get a crush on her & Rose trust her with a letter, I tend to feel it makes more sense that not everyone had a bad impression of Chloe going into the year. So it'd vary.

Regardless, Chloe would be both the most extreme in shift, while keeping a lot of thorns. But she'd be more open to changing in general if able to contextualize a negative reaction as tied to something her parents would do, letting her aggressively reject it. If she feels 'she' was in the right though, she'd not shift her behavior at all but dig in deeper.

So... has the new info released more critters in the brain?

It feels like this show was bursting with passionate ideas and creativity from the early stages. It makes me appreciate the final product both for what it is and what it wanted to be, even if there's a lot of things that I'm critical of.

I found the pitch bible SO interesting, though I don't really have anything valuable to comment on. I can see changes that they made that were ultimately so much better (Like making King a child, the inclusion of Gus, Eda's beast curse) but I'm also intrigued by these scrapped ideas. After watching the pilot I was so fascinated by whatever is going on with Eda and the Emperor's Coven. Her jewel is a shock collar?? Hello???

I do like lumity quite a bit but I'm kinda a bit sad that they changed so much about the evolution of their relationship from the original pitch. I genuinely enjoy the setup and the way their lives intertwine. I have to clarify excessively that I don't dislike lumity but there were beats of their development that I found a bit unsatisfying. But judging from this pitch, they originally had a lot of foundation for the relationship. I don't have the words to explain it. I just wish I could have seen the version of lumity that was originally intended.

I kinda like the idea of Lilith as the headmistress of Hexside. Idk something about it just feels right to me. Maybe it's the fact that it more closely links the high school stuff to the main plot, rather than Hexside and the Owl House being like Luz's two separate worlds that only occasionally meet.

Oh. If you're talking about hunlow specifically, then I have barely anything really. Considering William is 13, I wonder if Paulina would have stayed 14, instead of aging up over the course of the series. So they'd still be around the same age.

Paulina doesn't get nearly as much info in her page as Luz, Amity and William so I don't imagine she was intended to be anything more than a quirky side character.

I don't really care about beta hunlow all that much. It's fun to think about occasionally but their Canon selves are tough to beat. And William is like. An angry infant in my mind, so I'm not prone to thinking of him in romantic situations

Ik no one asked BUT Rottmnt Order 66 AU Origins :3

I was going through Ao3 and saw that there was a lot more Rise x SW fics than I thought there would be (still a relatively small crossover pool tho). I am not bashing, but I saw that it was either the turtles were Jedi (which makes sense tbh) or it was like an isekai situation.

That got me thinking about the two franchises. Then I thought, wouldn’t the turtles themselves be most like the clone soldiers? They were biologically created in order to fight in a war (that never ended up happening) using the DNA of what was viewed to be the peak human fighter. I latched onto the idea, because the clones have behavioral modification chips—and I knew that could be an excellent source of drama/angst (which I legally must capitalize on 😈).

Originally, it was just supposed to be a canon divergent fic. They confront Draxum in episode 1, and he activates the chips. The series continues from there, approaching old episodes in new ways as April and Splints try to save them. However, this felt constricting to me, and I found it difficult to put the pieces together in my head. So, I sat back for a few months and focused on other things.

Then, it randomly hit me all over again. The real frenzy didn’t start until I decided to draw for it again. I had drawn concept art as references to the relevant clone moments before my break from the au, but they had the same outfits as in the show. (Originally I was going to give Mikey armor, but ended up changing my mind. He was last to be drawn, and it would create a discrepancy with the other drawings.) I wanted to draw my own reference art for their 66!selves and originally didn’t plan for it to be different, just using it as an excuse to try and establish a hopefully permanent art style. I started off with Lou Jitsu as Jango Fett, and then I wondered what would it look like if I drew him in armor.

…Let’s just say I became obsessed. It made me realize, hey, I can do what I want! It doesn’t have to be canon divergent! (Which sounds stupid, but it broke the rigid confines I had built in my own head.) I started pulling more from SW, and putting my own spin on pre-existing characters even if it wasn’t entirely SW based (cough cough Yoshi’s 4 1/2 pages of backstory notes).

Anyways! LJ turned into Draxum’s refreshed wardrobe, then the armor of Leo, Raph, etc. so moral of the story: feel free to experiment with the stories you create. Don’t trap yourself in mental boxes like me, approach things from different angles

I have like very very specific feelings about Blade and Dan Heng’s dynamic/complicated situation and of course by extension the situation that occurred between Dan Feng and Yingxing and it’s like super particular, not in the way I think I’m objectively correct or fully indulging in fanon but a secret third thing. And the worst part is that I quite literally cannot for the life of me verbalize/write down my feelings and viewpoint to the full extent

They are just so complicated and full of so many tropes I love and it oof, it hurts very deeply. I like just reread the Passerby of Wandering Cloud relic set and I’m hmmm

I will say something as best as I can, I will never stop thinking about “Pairs of objects are destined for an eventual reunion.” In general that whole relic set wrecks me emotionally on a scale that I haven’t had since I read Stormbringer from BSD. They have such a complicated dynamic and I enjoy it so deeply, and see the thing is that they have such contradictory feelings that I don’t know the direction Hoyo will take it in but I am strapped in for the ride either way.

Also theres something like this fixation certain people have on separating the two and fixating on how they’re on their own paths AWAY from each other and I just,, I can’t understand that fixation because first off, even without talking about past selves, just talking about the current selves, the connection between them is extremely important when it comes to characterizing either of them. That is a significant part of their characters and where they currently are and a refusal to acknowledge that even without any shipper goggles confuses me. Additionally, as I brought up before, “Pairs of objects are destined for an eventual reunion” even as Blade and Dan Heng rather than Yingxing and Dan Feng, their paths are destined to cross. Given the earliness of the Xianzhou arc, heavily doubt this is any kind of “eventual reunion” as said by the relic seeing as its not like this is the first time they’ve met and those weren’t the this spoken of reunion. And additionally, I can’t help but think about Dan Heng specifically whether with knowing intent or not, carries multiple tokens of his past from the bracer itself to the jade pendant to literally Cloud Piercer. The weapon that makes him feel safe and yet he also has unfinished business with the creator

Speaking of that line, I’ve seen some people who think that he knows Blade made it. I personally heavily think he doesn’t know, given word choice to how he feels about it etc. But hmm I wonder if we’ll see what happens there. And that voiceline is just yet another thing hammering home how these two are destined to continue to have their paths intertwined.

And I’m trying to find the post again but I saw someone talking I think about the translations of the relic lore for that set and referring to the whole Pairs of objects line and they talked I think about how that statement is not meant to merely represent the actual objects but more so to represent Dan Heng and Blade themselves which may have been obvious from the start, but after reading that I felt like someone had expanded my mind and I can’t stop thinking about it, I can’t

Anyways anyways, I don’t think these two are by any means solely characterized by each other and they shouldn’t solely be seen as only existing in proximity to the other, but I don’t get people who for some reason hate the idea of them being connected in any manner bc of hating ships that they outright disregard and deny like key important parts of their canon. I mean people will do what they do and there’s no reason trying to put logic behind every single thing or whatever, but maybe that’s also just because I feel insane about their lore and again have this specific idea and view of them in my head. Maybe I’ll be able to put it into words better one day
